It's hilarious to me to mock Sauron fans' headcanons if they're too romanticized when you can't even spare a moment to analyze judgy Nice Guy TM behavior from your fav that happened in canon. I'm tired of this disingenuous fandom.
What's the real issue that's not being verbalized?
Yeah some so-called villainfuckers don't actually want a villain and yes it IS annoying, but it's just headcanon. That doesn't actually hurt anyone so why does it need to stop. Not even the romanticizers want Sauron to exile Galadriel, become a Nice Guy and judge Galadriel if she doesn't live up to moral standards, call her out with sexual language over her dynamic with another man, or demote her sorry 🤷🏾‍♀️
Y'all are too much lmao. Calling people pussies for romanticized villain headcanons that exist only in fandom, meanwhile there's a fandom cone of silence around criticizing how good guys behave in canon, how they actually treated the female lead, how it affects her arc, and how it will look if it continues. This is what is truly insulting to me.
It will not age well. It never did with the Dawson's, the Xander Harris's, the Ted Mosby's et al.
Aight bet. We shouldn't let up on any man and allow him to be overly romanticized if that's not how things really are, not just villains.

Someone sent this to me and it’s obviously aimed at my post and they have me blocked (which is fine it she hadn’t blocked me I would’ve blocked her), but if you’re going to address me, you might as well let me see it so I can debunk your dumbass statements. Now, I’m not looking for confrontation, that’s why I always tag my posts properly but you and your friends tracked my post to lash out at me for addressing the hate you’ve been spewing for years now. And the notes on that post prove how much this fandom is fed up with your nonsense. There’s a reason everyone says ZK shippers are the worst part of the fandom. You know you can ship your pairing without constantly mischaracterizing other characters, right?
The irony is just unbelievable because you don’t even understand that I made that post as a response to your friends who keep saying Katara deserved better than ending up with Aang. Which is the problem you are addressing in your post! Why is what Katara deserves tied to a boy she ends up with? It doesn’t. You’re the one who’s been saying that for years! And I’m not making this stuff up, it’s literally all over your blog. Saying how Katara was done dirty because she ended up with Aang. Mind you, her ending up with Aang does not take away any of her accomplishments throughout the show.
So you don’t like the pairing and you’d like to imagine her with someone else, go at it. But don’t sit here and tell me that Katara was disrespected in her ending because she ended up with someone you didn’t want for her and call it “feminism”. I don’t get how you like Katara as a character and everything she represents for 3 seasons but the last 30 seconds of the show make you so mad you sit here and tell me I’m a misogynist because I believe Katara ended up with someone she actually wanted to be with. The show presents Katara as a strong willed, badass, fights-for-what-she-believes-in character. Throughout the 3 seasons Katara did what she felt was right, what she wanted to do, going against people who tried to steer her away from her goals…and me believing she is in charge of her own destiny is misogynistic? No you’re right, you telling me Katara had zero agency and was forced into a relationship or stayed in a relationship she was miserable in makes a lot of sense for the character that was presented to you in the show.
You’re the feminist here, obviously, because if a woman steers away from YOUR idea of a “good female character”, then she was suddenly “done dirty”. Because a woman who chooses to have 3 children was obviously forced into it. A woman who doesn’t fight at 80 years old is obviously not well written. A woman who, throughout 61 episode did whatever the fuck she felt was right, but chose to be with the guy YOU think was wrong for her, “deserved better”. That’s what you’ve been saying for years and that what I’m addressing in my OG post. Katara’s worth is not tied to a man she ends up with!!!
And I don’t even like Bryke, I have a lot of problems with them. But I hate that you’re disguising your hate for a pairing as “feminism”, because it’s not. It’s the complete opposite of that. Because feminism is supporting a woman’s right to choose whatever she wants to do. But if she’s choosing something YOU don’t agree with you’re crucifying her! You see the irony here?? I beg some of you to look up the definition for feminism because it’s been a while.

Tw- opinions. (since yall seem so mad over them god)
I feel like I should explain why Ougoku is like.. toxic, and wouldn’t really work out.
1- Chapter four in general. “Kokichi didn’t manipulate Gonta!!” No, but he gave Gonta the idea in the first place. He convinced Gonta it was to save everyone else, and Gonta believed him. Also the way he talked about Gonta both during and after the trial. Insulting him, talking about how he doesn’t care about him- “Who even cares about that idiot?” (Or something like that). While you could argue that it’s all apart of Kokichis facade, and he actually DID care about Gonta, that doesn’t change the fact that he both said and did the things he said and did.
2- The thought of it it general. While yes, the whole “Evil but short” x “gentle giant” trope is cute, I don’t think it works with these two. It feels off to me.
3- Just.. them, really. I mean, in the non despair au, the same thing and dynamic would happen with them. Kokcihi would convince Gonta about something and it would end up in them both getting in trouble.
While you can say that Kokichi did actually love and care for Gonta, it’s neither confirmed nor proven at all. I mean, Kokichi practically betrayed his so called best friend, even ratting him out mid-trial even though that’s not even what they agreed on. Even if Gonta forgave him, it’s still just.. wrong. The ship makes me feel uneasy and it just seems so toxic to me. And to be honest.. Gonta don’t deserve that. Kokcihi would probably confuse the fuck out of him. And no, I’m not saying Gonta is an idiot- dare I say he’s one of the smartest in the cast- but he IS confused when it comes to the way humans act already, having someone like Kokichi as a boyfriend would proceed to confuse him even more.
Ofc, I can’t stop you from shipping this. I just.. think it’s toxic.
Edit- to the ppl saying “don’t put this in the ougoku tag”.. why? It’s a post about ougoku. It’s just not a happy and fluffy and cute post like you expected because their relationship and dynamic is NOT cute. It’s blatantly toxic. If you don’t like seeing shade, or just what their dynamic is rlly like, just ignore the post.
Edit 2- Here, a few days later. Scrolling through the Gonta tag, as I usually do sometimes, and I see SO many posts of passive aggressive words that were most likely aimed at me/my post. Y’all so petty 😭 Normalising what they have isn’t okay. “Kokichi didn’t manipulate him” he manipulated him into believing that the outside world was ruined, not to straight out kill miu you knob. Anyways, point being, if y’all so angry about it come say it to me face.
Edit 3- Hi! So, after the what 60th rape threat I’ve decided to give in and remove the ougoku tag. No, not for the sake of sparing ougoku shippers from seeing how OBVIOUSLY weird the ship is, but to avoid being told that I should be raped over a negative opinion on a negative thing! To the people who were sending me those threats- you’re weird and you’re disgusting. Getting so upset over somebody talking about your FICTIONAL ship in a negative light to the point where you tell them to get raped is absolutely baffling and i genuinely hope you seek help because what the fuck? So chronically online that you’d even think about those things happening to a 14 year old mind you is freaky as fuck. You’re all weird.

Things to know before you follow
i decided the other day that i should make a post just going through everything that i feel someone may need to know before they follow me
So, just so you know
I'm an adult
I'm 22 years old and post adult content some times. I'm not going to say to not interact if you're a minor because I don't think it's necessary but just be aware
I am Non-Binary
I will mention this as much as possibly just to make it very very clear. I use they/them pronouns but I am okay with most gendered terms. If you're not sure just ask!
I do post nsfw content
Mostly it's just reblogged headcannons and fanart but i may post my own nsfw content. If i do they will all be tagged nsfw so if you don't want to see that please block that tag
I'm a hater
I have a lot of opinions on a lot of things and the majority of my headcannons are do not aline with what the majority of the fandom think. I hate the Rosier twins, I see Marlene as a Ravenclaw, I prefer James, Alice & Barty as childhood friends rather then James, Peter & Marlene etcetera. I'm also not a person who disregards cannon and only on very certain occasions will my headcanons differ from what we see in the books. I like to talk about headcanons I don't like and complain about certain characterisations and interpretations that this fandom often has. Don't take anything I say personal because they're never aimed at one person. I just have a lot of hard opinions that will never change.
I am an enjoyer of Snape and The Marauders but I prefer The Marauders
I like writing about Snape and all of his friends and story but at the end of the day I am a Marauders stan and prefer them to Snape by a long shot for multiple reasons but i respect anyone who disagrees. I will be hesitant to follow back anyone who is actively anti marauders
I'm a multi shipper
This is mostly for the marauders fandom I will ship anyone with anyone so long as it's legal and i see the potential in it. I obviously have some ships that Im not a fan of (Mary and Marlene for example) but they're not very common and I will pretty much write anything (again it has to be legal. time turner fic lovers i am not talking to you)
I like to make friends
Please always feel free to message me or to put something in my ask box. I'm really lonely and I love talking to people so please don't be shy I promise I don't bite

Get to know me better...
I have been tagged by @sallysavestheday and I aim to please. Or, at least answer the call to answer questions. ^_^
Relationship status: Smaug and I have been together since 1997 - according to the Elves, we've been married since 1998, according to the Race of Men, 2000. We're also besties, so that definitely made all the time spent together during the pandemic pretty nice.
Favorite color: I have a favorite color spectrum that includes purple, green, and gold. It slides around depending on my mood. I will also argue that glitter is one of my favorite colors.
Song stuck in your head: This precise moment? My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark/Fall Out Boy -- I've been listening to it, thinking of Finrod composing songs about the burning of the ships that become popular and this leads into Celegorm and Curufin being pissed at him later that their shoreline deeds become Noldorin pop songs without them getting any credit
Favorite food: I am a big fan of mushrooms - years ago, when I used to do impromptu Discord calls while cooking and imparting fandom and life wisdom, it ended up named 'Mushrooms in my Ramen' because that's the best way to ramen. I also like fruit; I grow several types in my yard. Shrimp, shrimp is amazing. Shrimp on pizza, shrimp and corn chowder, shrimp and grits -- just, shrimps, yes. Also poutine. I love a good poutine. I like making soups and chili the way I want them (basically, no tomatoes - tomatoes are my species enemy, they will try to kill me), so, tomato-less and meatless chili is kind of my jam. My big guilty pleasure is Chicken McNuggets. I know they're basically fried chicken goop, I will still consume them. I don't even need sauce. (But, sauce is good, so it honey with them.) Oh, and raw sweet corn. I don't know why people cook corn. It's so much better raw. (not canned cold, but fresh raw sweet corn)
Last song played: I heard Alone Again Or by The Damned when I drove home. I had only previously heard the original by Love, which I, heh, wow, unintentional pun, love. It's a song on my original Glorfindel/Erestor playlist from twenty years back, when the early shippers were jockeying for position and trying to figure those Rivendell bois out. I should teach myself to play that song. I wonder how it would sound on the balalaika... *pencils that in for a summer project* I already know the lyrics... [So the connection for me with Glorfindel and Erestor on this was the idea of Glorfindel being really friendly with everybody, but the only one he wants is Erestor, so he remains alone and waits for him during the early fourth age when the two of them are the last two remaining inhabitants of Imladris. Even though they aren't together yet, Glorfindel still uses terms of endearment for Erestor - right to his face - nothing hidden. My Erestor is such a asshole. Someday he'll do right by everyone... moving on...]
Dream Trip: I'm at a point where I hate any trip where I can't be home to sleep. Apnea diagnosis did that. So, I guess I'd like VR to catch up to a point where I can really and truly immerse and then go to...Middle-earth, of course I'm going there, or Thundera (obviously pre-explodeyness).
Last thing I Googled: I've been trying to help a friend find apartments in Milwaukee county that are not ridiculously expensive or have weird stipulations or fees attached to them. Certainly been a challenge. But the last last thing was googling Alone Again Or by The Damned so I could listen to it again but also sing along as I was writing this (yeah, that's apparently a creepy thing I do, is singing songs with unrelated lyrics while typing other words or blog posts or fanfic, so that's a thing I have going for me)
I guess that's all for now. Instead of tagging anyone in particular, I suggest that anyone who is interested in sharing please steal these questions and have at it. Or, just go and listen to Alone Again Or. It's a good song.
Love: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPbNpIG8x_s
The Damned: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYVDN27CrOo
Only just realizing this now, it's not a bad Finrod pining for Amarië or Edrahil song, either... I'll have to tuck that away for later.
Your mileage may vary - if you do listen to it, I would would be interested knowing who it reminds you of.

Tyzula
Oh boy.
vomit / don’t ship / ok / cute / adorable / sexy / perfect / beyond flawless / hot damn / screaming and crying / i will ship them in hell
But let's talk about Tyzula, or more accurately, let's talk about what we do when we run across a ship that vicerally repells us, and also what to do when we see someone who does not sbip what we ship.
So I hate Tyzula as a ship, it is my hardcore NoTP, same with Maizula. And the reason for this is that the dynamic between Azula and her companions was an extremely accurate and well-written portayel of the kind of abusive, controling "friendship" I experienced, and it hits way too close to home, either for me to want to read it in an accurate to canon form, or to see it explored in less accurate to canon ways.
But that doesn't mean it's actually wrong for people to want to explore that abusive dynamic and add a romantic or sexual componant, or for people to engage in the kind of wish fulfillment that would be recasting those relationship in a less abusive light. That is fine. It's fine. It's fiction, and not some deep moral indictment of their character. I like some pretty hairy stuff in fiction. I will not judge.
Conversely, the fact that I write meta about the canon dynamics of the Azula-Ty Lee-Mai abusive friendship, and Mai and Ty Lee's solidarity in the face of Azula's abuse, and how this affects all three characters and their arcs, is not aimed as an attack on Maizula/Tyzula shippers. But this meta regularly enough garnered the response that obviously it was about shippers, especially along with the fact that I have stated that I don't like these two ships, and I don't ship them and won't write them, that this is the reason I had to turn off anonymous asks and why they're almost always off. Because Tyzula shippers kept sending me absolutely vile anon hate. My favorite example of which is the one who called me a homophobic straight girl who thinks all the lesbians want to rape her, in spite of the fact that I am openly bisexual, write femslash, and have been open about being sexually assaulted by another girl. This was over a ship.
So what we do when we don't ship something, even if it viscerally upsets us, is we filter our tags, and curate our experiences so that we see it as little as possible, and we let people who enjoy it, enjoy it. And when we see people who don't ship what we ship, and aren't enjoying the thing we enjoy, we say that's nice and we don't try to force them to see it, because everybody should be allowed to like what they like, and dislike what they dislike, and we don't "win" when we force people to like what we like and only what we like. Let other people like things or not according to their own lights, and be nice.

Hello! I say this in the kindest way possible, but can you please provide evidence that theowelspeaks is a terf? I'm a black zutara shipper and for years have really felt shoved by the fandom and it hasn't been my safe space. But YOUR blog and you made me feel better. I'm not in your discord but you're being accused of racism. I don't follow the owlspeaks and wanna support you but if you're being accused of racism why are you calling someone a terf?
Can you please show where they are a terf? I'm only asking this because I really REALLY love you and I support you. And if they are a terf, you need to provide evidence. It is heavily suspicious when a person of color calls out a white woman on racism and you don't address the accusations but just call them a terf. I want to support you I really do because you made me feel comfortable in the fandom, but I need to see concrete evidence that they're a terf. Never mind, I saw the whole situation and honestly I'm disgusted I ever follow or looked up to you. You're literally no different from other racist white shippers. I think there went my love for zutara.
I'm going to take this at face value--not that, on any real level, I actually believe you were a follower of mine or did anything close to due diligence, because if you were or had then you would know that I never actually called that blogger a terf--and answer as respectfully as I can. Mostly because I want anyone who has genuine issues with anything I've said or done to know that despite whatever's going around about me right now, I am willing to listen to criticism if it comes from a place of good faith.
(You can think whatever you want about my insistence on 'good faith', but the fact is that I have weathered being slammed with accusations of pedophilia and other horrible things over differences in headcanon of shit like character ages or writing a fic set years post-canon because I felt like it, right down to the insistence that I'm a horrible racist because of my url, so no. I'm not going to listen to someone slinging slurs and buzzwords in my inbox just because they claim to be a poc. And before that sets anyone off, the slurs I'm talking about are aimed at my queerness. I do not consider being called racist or a white bitch or whatever slurs, because they aren't.)
First of all, once again, I never called that blogger a terf. You can easily read my post about them for yourself and see that--ctrl+F for the term 'terf', and you will not find it. Why? Because I called them out on peddling radfem rhetoric, (which they are) not for being a terf. All terfs are radfems--it's in the name--but not all radfems are terfs, although all radfem rhetoric is exceptionally harmful to queer people in general, and queer poc more than most, as is the nature of intersectionality.
Anti-kink rhetoric, and the insistence that some kink is inherently harmful and that no one could legitimately have these kinks or fetishes without being mentally ill or traumatized, is radfem rhetoric. That's where it comes from, that's where it leads to, and I'll be honest here, 'radfem' is not an identity label. It's an ideology. You do not get to parrot core tenets of that ideology and then claim to not be a radfem. That simply isn't how this works.
Furthermore, I have no idea who the person behind theowlspeaks blog is. I will take them at their word that they are not white, but that doesn't exactly narrow things down--and considering the fact that they chose to put me on blast for their small but dedicated ring of followers rather than actually coming to me personally first about any of this (their blog is very obviously a burner, and it wouldn't have been that difficult to approach me since I've only ever turned anon off once, for one night to give myself some breathing room, and otherwise my asks and DMs have always been open), I have no reason to actually care about what they're saying. But I point out the lack of knowledge of their identity because a) they didn't even reveal themselves as not white until.... yesterday? or something, when they were directly asked about it, and b) trying to frame this as 'white woman accused of racism calls person of color a terf' is... disingenuous at best given the fact that I have been calling them a radfem (which they are) since well before they posted that screenshot and my name wound up on their blog, so you got the order of events just a little backwards.
I blocked them initially because of the radfem rhetoric they were peddling about kink and fetishes, and I have the right to establish that boundary. This blog is for me, it is my space, and I do not have to expose myself to views I find gross or harmful just because they dress it up in faux-woke terminology and try to pretend they actually care.
If they cared about real people more than the fictional characters they are so adamantly 'protecting', then they wouldn't have brushed off the actual racism (from one of their followers--they're more than happy to blast me without any evidence, but that's hardly out of the ordinary for people like that) that was brought to their attention by refocusing the discussion on the fake people who literally can't be hurt by any of this because they don't exist. They wouldn't be ignoring the two woc who chose to contact them and tell them why they made the choices they did regarding both the discord and the smut week event, while being perfectly happy to platform anons who may or may not be who or what they say they are.
I, for one, am not going to apologize for caring more about real people than fictional characters. I'm not going to apologize for thinking it's absolutely ludicrous to pretend that fiction is somehow harmful just by existing, especially when it's appropriately tagged so that anyone who finds the content harmful can avoid it. I'm not going to back down from these opinions just because a handful of people have apparently decided I'm a horrible person because of it. And I'm certainly not going to apologize for thinking it's despicable that someone who was not involved in the conversation chose to leak out of context screenshots rather than privately contacting any of the people involved or even going to any of the mods, before going right to an anonymous blog. You may not care about me or my mental health, but I had panic attacks because of that leak--not because I said anything untoward in that screenshot, not because I've ever said anything in that discord that I wouldn't happily stand behind on my blog, but because I no longer felt safe. And I am not going to bare my trauma to a complete stranger to justify that lmfao.
So, like, think what you want to. I'm pretty sure that blogger is getting high off of the drama they are creating, none of which would actually have happened or been any real issue if more people were able to think, gee, maybe this work that is tagged with things I don't want to read about is not for me! Maybe I shouldn't read this piece, since it would probably upset me, and there's plenty others around for me to consume! I do not trust that blogger's intentions. I do not trust that they actually give a shit about any real people, or they wouldn't have posted an out of context screenshot of... literally nothing tbh, when they had no right to and are now protecting the identity of the person who leaked them instead of giving a shit about any of the real people in that space who no longer feel safe because we aren't sure who we can't trust.
But you've already made up your mind, and I can't change that. I genuinely hope you have a nice life, and find fandom spaces more suited to your tastes.

Been back lurking around tumblr and Twitter for 2 weeks. Wanted to share the hype of my childhood game FF7 and its long awaited Remake with fellow fans... and instead I find a full out WAR And it is so BRUTAL !!!
I always been in calm fandoms, mostly because there was never any doubt about the pairings, or the pairings I like is so crack nobody felt threatened by it (almost).
Being a sasuhina and Nejino fan (very crack pairings), we were already happy to have them on the same frame let alone talk to each other. A name being pronounced and it was bliss for 2 weeks... we did not need much beside of fan fictions and art.
In FF7 Remake they have so much material in both ship going on, but instead of just enjoying it, they are raging war on songs, quotes from 20 years ago or hidden meanings. And they forget the fact that it is not a dating sim game but an adventure game. Also it is aimed at teenagers mostly, the romance is blatantly obvious, there is nothing hidden...
The love triangle can not be deny. The sexual tension between Cloud and Tifa is palpable, they worry about and comfort each other AND they are physically touching so much it is almost embarrasing, especially to a clerith fan like me. The pairing is there. The blossoming romance between Cloud and Aerith is evident and they shared the most adorable moments in gaming history !the flirting is STRONG and it’s apparent Cloud changed after meeting her, he soften and was less of a douche. She became special and important to him.
This game has so much pairing content it screams fanservice ! But it seems some people are never going to be satisfied until there is only one pairing left standing. They rather create grand theory about why and how this scene or that scene was irrelevant in order to discredit the other pairing, or latch at Aerith or Tifa to prove one is better than the other for Cloud.
While in the story both pairings are pretty much canon, young Cloud had a Crush on Tifa, being adult he experienced love with Aerith and after her death he finds confort and a family with Tifa. It does not mean he forgot about Aerith nor his love for her, her very existence shaped him into who he is but that does not mean he loves Tifa any less. Yes, He loves them both, just differently.
So The real problem is neither Aerith nor Tifa ! It is obviously fucking CLOUD ! Freaking oblivious womanizer ! Wake up people !
SE won’t settle the love triangle in the end, they know this might create a cyberwar in a scale never seen before. But they might kill Off Cloud so both side are left hanging and probably happier :)
Tumblr media
*and after seeing the extend of hate in the fandom. I kind of hope they do.
Also both fandom are toxic and constantly stating how the other are worse. Both fandom have equal numbers of irrespectful close minded crazy people in it. Those are ruining the experience for newcomers and destroying the hype of old fans. Shame !
Édit : ok after a month on Twitter... never in my life have I been so much insulted while trying to be polite asking people not to cross tag.... sorry but one side seems to have more extreme shippers...

Someone on twitter said that : """My favorite thing about this interview is that Tae clearly STILL doesn't understand why he couldn't sing this song with his bestie. I love a man who doesn't conflate platonic love with sex/romance.""" And it makes me so angry for 2 reason: - they think Tae is dumb - thinking this song is platonic bc he wanted to sing it with a man is heteronormative Ppl need to stop using the word platonic to erase the possibility of a romance btw the same gender.
When I saw this ask, I got quite angry and I realized that if any member of BTS dares to come out as gay, they are doomed.
I see Heteronomativity as a view that seeks to discriminate against all other sexualities and I'm not just saying this because of vmin. People of this view feel that the best form of love is between people with different genders and I believe that they are correct in their own right but when you start eliminating the possibility of two people having a different sexuality other than yours, it becomes a problem.
Just like how everything Vmin does is classified as 'what a great friendship', Taehyung writing that Christmas duet song will definitely look like it's platonic when obviously it's not.
Do you know that Vmin is the only ship in Bts that is tagged with the friendship label despite everything they do? Namjin, Sope, Yoonkook, Taegi and so many others are even viewed romantically. People hardly use the 'friend' tag with them but with Vmin, it's the first label you see associated with them. No one even wants to give them a chance. That's why as a vmin shipper, you'll find yourself getting angry almost everytime you click on the internet and search on vmin. It's really not encouraging.
I have learned with time not to get easily angry over such views because I just see it as a propaganda used to quiet vmin no matter how loud they get. The situation is just like being trapped in a tight prison. When you manage to find a way to escape, the jailers always find you and keep you locked back in prison.
One thing I have asked myself is why are Vmin so different? Why are they the only ones with the friendship label tagged on them? Yes, they see each other as friends but why can't people see there might be a possibility that friendship isn't all that's going on between them especially when you take into consideration the things they do but every light moment done by the more popular ship is taken very seriously. When vmin does their weird soulmate thing, no one will bat an eye lid because people would cook up one reason or the other not to believe what they saw but let the popular ships do it and there is an instant uproar.
The fact that they won't even consider vmin could be as a result of denial. Like i said before, people want to believe what they want. They want to believe that Taehyung is straight but when they are presented with some evidences that he may not be as straight as they think, they will want to bury it, deny it or cover it up. As you pointed out, Taehyung isn't a fool. He knew what he was aiming for by telling people about the Christmas song but they just turned it around to suit themselves, to suit their own beliefs so Taehyung probably felt defeated and decided to just keep his song to himself.
So that you can keep enjoying vmin, ignore what people say no matter how annoying it is. We have to understand that not everyone will have the same opinion and if you belong to the LGBTQ community or you are just a supporter, you have to be extra strong and believe in vmin's bond because we know the truth. That they care about one another very much and somehow, I think they want us to know too.
Anyway, thanks for reading. I answered this ask in the spur of the moment. Have a good day and remember 95z is love.

On the small bump in anti-Kalex activity recently:
I know it sucks and it’s super disheartening, and can SEVERELY make you doubt the implications of just liking the ship at all.
But you have understand that they do not ACTUALLY care that we're shipping a so-called "incest" ship. They don't care about social nuance, they don't care about legal definitions, they don't care about why "incest" has such negative connotations in the first place and the subsequent reasons why Kalex doesn't fit EITHER of those reasons.
They literally don't care; that's not why they're attacking us.
They're WHOLE point is finding whatever morally inexcusable term they can use to shame ANYONE who ships their fav with someone else, regardless of how far they have to stretch that definition to make it fit.
Note: the following are listed arguments made BY OTHER SHIPPERS against THESE SHIPPERS' rights to ship the thing, and has NOTHING to do with the rightful criticism surrounding the implications of certain creative choices made by the then-showrunner/writing team. Fans and shippers are NOT responsible for the story and character decisions made by the production team, nor are they required to ship based on the social or moral implications of that ship in a real-world setting, no ifs, ands, or buts
According to anti-shipping;
Supe/rcat and Kar/amel: abusive and pedophilic
Supe/rlane, Supe/rcorp, and Kar/amel: racist
Guardia/ncorp and Supe/rcorp: toxic
Guardia/ncorp: lesbiphobic
Win/nara and Kar/amel: incestuous
Gen/eral Dan/vers: incestuous, abusive, AND pedophilic
And I have literally seen people say they would delete their whole Reig/ncorp blogs if it turned out Lena's mother (who died when she was four, and of whom she has very few memories) turned out to have fostered Sam at any point before she died, in fear that they might be labeled an "incest shipper."
They don't care about nuance, context doesn't matter, and they WILL argue  whatever double-standard they think bolsters their case, because they don’t actually care about it.
For example:
- 1 -
Anti-shipping is the ONLY time you will ever see anyone arguing that ELIZA'S choices take precedence over the choices Kara and Alex make for their own lives.
Sure, she wasn't allowed to stop Kara from using her powers, or keep Alex from making her own career choices, but when it comes to the SHIP they don't like, THAT'S when Eliza's expectations matter.
[Because they don't actually care about Eliza's expectations]
- 2 -
Anti-shipping is the ONLY time you will ever see anyone arguing a title chosen when two characters were TEENAGERS is the only definition under which their relationship should be allowed to exist, and that—once said—changing it would be disgusting and disrespectful and downright abhorrent.
Sure, shippers LOVE when queer girls who haven't yet identified their sexualities use the word "sister" to describe their intense feelings for one another, because it's the only socially acceptable way to maintain their closeness without probing questions, because that makes it all the more romantic when they realize just how gay the whole relationship actually is and finally move it into a more romantic context. But NOT when the girls renegotiating the terms of their relationship are part of a SHIP they don't like.
[Because they don't actually care about the use of the word sister]
- 3 -
Anti-shipping is the ONLY time you will ever see anyone arguing 13-/14-/15-year-olds who haven't yet come to terms with their sexualities are somehow incapable of forming crushes on pretty girls they share close quarters with.
Sure, canon has told us that LITERALLY happened, and plus, EVERYONE loves a good teenage coming-out/coming-of-age fic (with bonus points if Character A doesn’t realize they'd been in love til years down the line when they DO finally come out), but NOT when we have the gall to suggest it could've happened to the SHIP they don't like.
- 4 -
Anti-shipping is the ONLY time you will ever see anyone suggest it's IMPOSSIBLE for a character to have fallen in love with Kara "Sunshine" Zor-El.
Sure, EVERYONE falls in love with Kara, and NO ONE loves her more fiercely than Alex (who was a gay disaster and deeply in the closet for the first 27 years of her life), but when it comes to the SHIP they don't like, that closeted gay disaster who loves her with ever fiber of her soul was OBVIOUSLY the only person on earth who escaped falling in love with fuckin' Supergirl.
[Because they don't actually believe EITHER of those things are impossible and they feel threatened by it]
Anti-shippers do not care about the issues they're claiming to fight against. That's why trying to reason with them, or explain, or re-contextualize doesn't actually work; they don't care. They're literally just doing it to try to shame other ships out of existence, because they're so thin-skinned, just the mere knowledge that someone is out there imagining their fav with a different character is enough to give them gut-rot, and they want to make that YOUR problem.
And the ONLY reason I'm even bringing any of this up now is because there DOES seem to be a resurgence, and I KNOW that sick feeling that inevitably comes when you see a new ask, or a new anti post in the tag, or whatever else those obsessive weirdos end up doing, and I want to make sure you know now, their reasons for hating us have NOTHING to do with the morality of our ship.
They will use every half-baked rationale they can pull out of their ass to justify why we don't belong here, because they literally just think no other ship outside their own deserves to exist in fandom-space. It's not about us, it's not about incest; it's about them and their entitlement to fandom-space that prioritizes THEIR ship to the point of gate-keeping all others from existing comfortably.
They're emotionally immature cretins, hailing from many, many different ships, who want nothing more than to snuff out as many other ships as they possibly can.
It's not about whether or not other ships are actually doing something wrong, or unhealthy, or actively harmful; it's about making everyone else LEAVES. It's about making them hurt, or hide, or feel shame, all so they can beat everyone else out of general fandom spaces so they don't have to LOOK at them.
It's not about us. Arguing why Kalex isn't actually incest won't work because that's not their point, they don't care; they just want us—and everyone else they don't agree with—gone.
My policy for dealing with hate aimed at this blog is just, block and delete. Delete asks immediately because I'm not gonna give them a platform to speak to the several HUNDRED Kalex shippers following this blog. Block every hateful reply so they can't keep hijacking the posts I made for OUR ship. And block any and every anti poster in the tag before they even have the notion to target this blog.
It really is only 1% of general fandom actively participating in this kind of behavior, and tedious as the process is, we CAN slowly block the whole of them from gaining access to our piece of the fandom.
But we're not doing anything wrong, no matter what they say. They're making these arguments against everyone, because they literally just want everyone else gone and will say and do anything they think will get under our skin to make that happen.
Just try to remember that. And you are not alone in your reasons for liking what you like about this ship.

NAME :   Éireann
NICKNAME :   I often get 'Ezz' or variations of that.
FACECLAIM :   mun face? A few people have said young Carrie Fisher so...there.
Tumblr media
PRONOUNS :   she / her
HEIGHT :   5′0
BIRTHDAY :   7th March
AESTHETIC :   honestly this changes daily. Some days, I'm pink glitter everything. Other days my Lannister emerges and I just wanna wear red and gold.
LAST  SONG  YOU  LISTENED  TO :   Till It Happens To You by Lady Gaga according to my Spotify.
FAVORITE  MUSE (S)  YOU’VE  WRITTEN : The first muse I ever properly tackled on here was Effie Trinket from The Hunger Games. I adore her and writing as her will forever hold a special place in my heart.
* GETTING  TO  KNOW  THE  ACCOUNT :
WHAT  INSPIRED  YOU  TO  TAKE  ON  THIS  MUSE : I've wanted to explore the Game of Thrones/ A Song of Ice and Fire world for quite some time now but I was always very apprehensive because it is a HUGE world and a momentous task to set oneself when choosing a muse. However, after the bloodbath that was season 8, I bit the bullet and made a Jaime. Jaime had always been my favourite character from when I started watching the show in season 3. I've always had a weak spot for the...unsavoury characters and after episode one of GOT, Jaime had ticked every box. I find his story fascinating and incredibly complex, especially now that I am au fait with his book counterpart. I love exploring his thoughts and ideas and shaping them to fit with the narratives I've created for him with my partners.
WHAT  ARE  YOUR  FAVORITE  ASPECTS  OF  YOUR  CURRENT  MUSE :  I love how complex he is. Reading the books has shown me just how many conflicting thoughts Jaime has about situations he finds himself in and it is truly fascinating to read. He handles things in his own unique ways, whether it be by taking sword in hand or by using his own wits to verbally get himself out of conflicts. And I'm just going to downright say it- he is an asshole and we stan an asshole. He's a lot of fun to write.
WHAT’S  YOUR  BIGGEST  INSPIRATION  WHEN  IT  COMES  TO  WRITING :  my biggest inspiration is definitely the people I write with. My responses to our threads entirely depend on what the other muse can pull out of Jaime. And I write with a lot of incredible people who inspire me to write just that little bit more, to explore just that little bit deeper into Jaime's character. It really is a privilege writing with the people I write with.
FAVORITE  TYPES  OF  THREADS :   ships. All the ships. I am a huge shipper and Jaime is just trash for anyone.
BIGGEST  STRUGGLE  IN  REGARDS  TO  YOUR  CURRENT  MUSE :   my biggest struggle is my lack of confidence in what I write. I'm always so terrified when I post my replies because I'm mindful that they're not the best and definitely not on par with those of my partners. It stems back to crossing paths with a very arrogant role player within another fandom who basically shut me down because they believed threads should be written THEIR way and no one else's. It got to the point where they actually posted a passive-aggressive post aimed at me talking about how they wont play with people who write a certain way. This was maybe 3 or 4 years ago and obviously I have grown from then, but the message still sticks...am I good enough? Am I writing the way I should be? I know now that roleplaying is a very personal thing but I still struggle with a lot of self doubt.

|| yOU KNOW WHAT I’M NOT DONE TALKING ABOUT THIS and this time i’m making a proper post. cleaned up & extended version of my tags on this gifset below, and yes i’m putting this in my meta tag you can’t stop me i do what i want. read with gifset for maximum effect
i’m still goddamn emotional about this and i’m not even going to pretend to be otherwise. there’s so much going on here and every single bit of it makes me emotional.
Listen okay let’s start with that first gif. I’ve watched it like fifty time on repeat and I just. The way that guardsman? soldier? spits out shoot him where he stands, so full of disdain and even hatred –– I know that’s a brick line but I don’t believe I ever really understood the full impact of it until now. He doesn’t have to say that ; both the soldiers and enjolras already understand that this interaction will only end one way, and it’s with enjolras dead against the wall. But he does anyway, and the wording of it –– right here, right now, where he stands –– combined with the way he obviously spits his words ( see the way his lip curls and his nose wrinkles as he says stands, visible even as gif, even without hearing the way he says it )... there’s a certain cruelty to it, a degree of emotional violence that doesn’t have to be there. This small interaction is a microcosm, a symbolic representation of the might of the regime trampling the revolution –– the soldiers, armed to the teeth and vastly greater in number, spitting disdain against enjolras, just one man, one very young man, beaten down and dirtied and cornered and empty-handed with no weapons. And enjolras’s face, god, his face. I take back every bad thing I said about joseph quinn as enjolras, this one look is everything. He’s defiant and he’s angry and rpoud, as he should be ! but he’s also physically beaten down and tired –– panting, leaned against the wall with his hands braced against his knees ; not to mention the emotional weariness as well, the toll of seeing more blood and death in the last twenty-four hours than anyone ever should have to, the toll of watching all of his friends die in front of him, of shoring himself up on so much hope and certainty only to watch the very country he loves and tried so hard to elevate betray him and leave him to die. and yes he’s ready to die, of course he’s ready to die, he’s stared death in the face and refused to blink since that first moment he decided to ally himself to this cause –– but there’s a sort of relief too, a different sort of readiness to die, to leave this world where his revolution failed and all his friends are already gone. and he’s scared too, of course he’s scared, for all that he looks marble and pretends to be marble and tries so hard to make himself marble, he’s only human and twenty-six at the end of the day, of course he’s scared.
OOF okay that’s long enough, let’s move on to gif 2. here he is, grantaire himself, the unlikely saviour. not literally, of course not, he’s not here to miraculously valjean enjolras to safety –– but he is here to save enjolras from something else : from having to face this alone. There’s a profound loneliness to dying alone, to being the last survivor and knowing that everyone else is dead and you’ll be dead soon, too. Facing down death with pride –– summoning up the audacity of a fine death –– is hard enough, but goddammit it’s even harder to do it alone, with no one at your side and no one to catch you when you inevitably fall. but here’s grantaire, perhaps the last person enjolras would have expected, stumbling into a death that does not have to be his just so he can stand by enjolras’s side. Just !!! think about this for a moment. Grantaire has woken up, but no one else has noticed him yet. It’s not inconceivable that he could hide or run, and never be caught, and spare himself the terror and the pain of dying in service of a cause he never quite believed in, a cause he now knows for certain is doomed and may well be forgotten tomorrow morning. But then he looks up and his friends are in danger, and enjolras is about to die, and so he walks in with clear eyes and clear head and says me too. God! Can you imagine? Shoot him where he stands. Me too. And I love the way the camera focuses on enjolras here, not the guards –– because enjolras is what matters, not the soldiers, not the guns, not the inevitable and rapidly impending death.
and in the third gif, the grantaire looks like he’s about to cry, but he’s here, goddammit, he’s standing by enjolras’s side and saying to hell with you all to everything and everyone else. long live the republic, he says, but we all know he’s not doing this for the republic and it couldn’t be any clearer than the way he looks at enjolras and only enjolras, walks right up to his side and doesn’t even spare a glance at all the guns pointed at them and very much ready to kill them in a few moments. long live the republic, he says, but what he really means is long live enjolras, long live their friends, long live all the crazy idealistic men like them, long live their faith and their hope and even the idealism he spent all the rest of the novel/series cynically denying. and most of all, long live friendship, long live the only thing that has ever mattered to him, the only thing that can save enjolras right now, the only thing that can save grantaire right now. and in face of that faith, that declaration of love –– and yes, it is love ( even if you don’t have your shipper glasses on ), deeply profound and revering love, fraternity between brothers in arms at the darkest of hours –– enjolras stands up straighter. enjolras, too, doesn’t look anywhere but at grantaire. enjolras, too, doesn’t have any attention to spare for the guns and the soldiers. and it’s remarkable, really, how long this scene goes without ever panning back to the soldiers. they’re about to die, they know that, we know that, but somehow it’s not the most important thing right now.
And the fourth gif –– we finally get a clear look at enjolras’s expression, and it wounds me deeply. that glance, the way his eyes move just a little, that disbelief and surprise and underneath it all, a touch of hope and joy that he doesn’t have to face this alone. and yes, his beloved revolution just gained a supporter, but more importantly enjolras just gained a friend –– and not just any friend, but a friend of the most devoted sort, the kind of friend who will see him through the end (literally). and he can’t quite believe it, can’t quite believe that there’s someone else here by his side, can’t quite believe that it’s grantaire by his side. it’s grantaire that looks towards the soldiers first, not enjolras. grantaire looks up, looks straight at their violent deaths ready to strike, and he’s scared, god, you can see in his face just how terrified he is, but he doesn’t even flinch away. he straightens. he squares his shoulders. he plants his feet next to enjolras anyway. and enjolras spends another moment staring at grantaire, thinking is this real, thinking are you sure about this, thinking i was wrong and thank you.
I don’t have much to say about gif five except to say that i really love quinnjolras’s profile, here. and the way his nose twitches just a little, that touch of disdain for their offer of a blindfold –– fantastic. but gif six, oh lordy, gif six. I piss on your blindfold, grantaire says, and this might just be my favourite line of dialogue in this entire series. it’s so in character for grantaire, that irreverence right until the end, and i think the refusal of the blindfold is even more powerful coming from grantaire instead of enjolras. we know enjolras will refuse the blindfold –– that’s never in question. of course he will, he’s enjolras. but coming from grantaire, it’s all the more proof of that transformation in his final moments, the impossible infinite courage that comes from his profound devotion to enjolras, to friendship.
and in gif seven, we get to see enjolras smile for a moment, his lips twitching like he can’t quite help himself from laughing at grantaire’s words. it’s the marble broken down to be human, even including laughing at loud irreverence. and again, grantaire’s scared, of course he is, he has every reason and every right to be, but he’s still here and that’s what matters. and we finally pan back to the soldiers, to the guns being lowered and aimed.
and then in gif eight –– the (in)famous hand hold, yes, at last, and in a way that feels organic and real. it’s as romantic as you want or don’t want it to be ; it’s friendship, it’s brotherhood, it’s love however you want to define it, it’s love beyond definition, it’s that impossible insurmountable bond of two people facing down death side-by-side. it’s not one person reaching for the other’s hand, it’s mutual, it’s spontaneous, and it’s a physical connection to mirror the emotional connection they share in this moment. and then the way grantaire starts laughing, and enjolras does too a heartbeat later. that’s not a happy sort of laughter, and we all know it. it’s a sort of gallows humor in the face of death, first and foremost, that hysterical sort of laughter where you can’t help but laugh because you can’t quite believe this is actually real and there’s no other way for that emotion to be expressed. but there’s also an element of giddiness and profound exhilaration, a sort of yes we’re really doing this !!!! fuck history, fuck fate, fuck the guard, fuck death and blood and dying and pain –– they’re doing this and they’re doing this together. it’s the same kind of laughter you might have when trying to pull off some impossible project or improbable hijinks with a friend, that disbelieving sort of laughter with a partner-in-crime, that are we really doing this oh my god yes we’re really doing this feeling of terror and exhilaration and profound irreversible connection with each other. except the isn’t a prank or a joke, this is revolution and this is death.
and so –– gif nine –– the shots go off at last. i think it’s really interesting that we zoom out at this point, that we don’t get to see enjolras and grantaire die in close up, that all we get is the soldiers in silhouette and the two of them in the backdrop against the wall. first of all, it highlights just how much of a firing squad they’re facing, just how much of an execution it is. so what if they’re not blindfolded and tied to posts –– they’re cornered, they’re up against a wall, and there’s a literal line of soldiers ( faceless, in shadow and in silhouette ) ready to shoot them down. and there’s really something to be said for the way the take aim and the fire bookends their laughter. they start to laugh but they never get to finish ; this smile was not ended when the report resounded. that contrast between sudden overwhelming violence and giddy youthful laughter of companionship. it highlights the tragedy of their deaths, i think –– the tragedy of all their deaths, all of les amis, everyone on this barricade, and by extension every young and hopeful soul on every barricade throughout history. they are full of hope ; they are full of laughter ; they are full of companionship and fraternity for each other ; they live with joy, and they fight with hope, and they face down death with pride –– and they die. just like that ; right there ; right then ; they die. midway through a laugh cut short like their lives themselves were –– they die. there’s something profoundly beautiful and profoundly tragic about that laughter in the midst of violence and threat and inevitable death, of that laughter that never gets to conclude.
and so, at last, in the final gif –– we never get to see their faces again. i really thought, for a moment, that we might get an enjolras upright, but i suppose that’s too mucho hope for. we still get grantaire struck at his feet, and enjolras falling onto him. i doubt it was deliberate but i’m still emotional over the fact that even in death, grantaire is still supporting and elevating enjolras, that this dynamic –– the afterthought, the and, the pylades that only ever follows orestes –– continues even to the very end.
god. i’m emotional. damn you andrew davies for making me emotional about this and write two thousand goddamn words about it. hey @wiseinlove clio i did it it only took like two hours

forum rp guide
To start this off, I just want to say that I’m in no way a profession (but really, this is roleplay, I don’t think there are profession rpers??). I’ve been roleplaying on forums since I was really young and I’m an old lady now, so I definitely have experience. I felt like making this guide because I know there are a lot of tumblr roleplayers that feel anxious about trying forum rps. This is just a rough, all-over-the-place guide for understanding and getting started.
Forum Roleplaying is quite different from tumblr roleplaying and can seem daunting to anyone unfamiliar. I have no idea how else to go about this, so I’m going to start from the beginning.
QUICK VOCABULARY
forum - forum can be used to talk about the site as a whole. but more commonly when someone says ‘forum’ in conversation, they are referring to a category on the site that when clicked on then reveals threads that are within that single forum.
sub forum - a sub forum is just that. a forum within a forum. often used for further organization.
thread - a thread is a post and all it’s replies. in chronological order from the first post created to the last.
membergroup(s) - membergroups are how characters are categorized. many rp sites use personality types to do this. some use neighborhoods. say the site is set in a city with four neighborhoods. the membergroups may be those four neighborhoods and each character is in the membergroup that they live in. there are so many ways to organize characters into membergroups. this can help with plot ideas or general organization.
Finding a Forum Roleplay
There are a lot of advertising tumblrs aimed at helping roleplayers find a forum to call home. My favorite is allthingsroleplay. There you can search by genres to find something you’re interested in. There are all kinds, just like there are all kinds of tumblr rps. I can be pretty shallow when it comes to finding a new site to roleplay on. I just can’t get super into a site that has clashing colors or grainy graphics. That’s not to say there can’t be an excellent site out there with bad visuals. That’s just strictly my preference: a beautiful site with a great plot and welcoming members.
Getting Started
Once you have found a site that you’re into, you can read the rules, plot, setting, membergroup info, etc to make sure it is the right place for you. Generally, those important reads are found toward the top of the site. There are usually even links beneath or above the site banner or in the topbar ( the bar across the top of the window that nowadays is often fixed there and remains in the same location as you scroll. ) It is important to read the rules to know what is allowed/not allowed on the site. Most are very common sense rules; #1 forum rp rule is always ‘don’t be a dick.’ Of course, you want to also familiarize yourself with the setting and plot of the site.
Once the required reading is complete, people usually want to browse the face claims in use. Most forum roleplays ( with the exception of sandbox sites or anime sites ) only allow one person to use a certain face at a time. Of course there is twinning but you get the idea. If you’ve decided that this site is where you want to settle your character, make sure to reserve your preferred face. Be certain that you’re not trying to reserve a face that is already claimed by someone else. To reserve a face ( and later after acceptance, claiming a face ) you will have to copy/paste a code within the face claim list. The code to copy paste will be titled something like “TO RESERVE A FACE” or something like that and the code will look something like
<blockquote><b>face claim</b>  is reserved for <i>alias</i> until <b>##:## am or pm</b></blockquote>
You want to make sure you copy all of that, from the first < to the last >. You would fill it out appropriately and paste it in a reply to the same “thread” where the face claims are. This will save your face claim for you while you create your character.
You can either reserve your face before registering an account or after. It doesn’t really matter either way. When registering your account, make sure you know the rules. Some sites want you to register with your character’s first and last name in proper capitalization. John Doe. Some want you to use all lowercase letters. That should be in the rules that you read when first investigating the site.
Character Application
There are different kinds of applications depending on the site you’ve chosen. Some require a traditional application, where you write about your character’s past, their appearance, their personality, etc. Many use shipper applications, which is when you discuss your character’s friendships, romantic life, enemies, and how they may connect with other characters.
If you’re stuck on this part, feel free to browse accepted characters on the site to get a feel for what is asked of you when applying.
Typically on forum roleplays, there will be a “forum” for completed applications and a separate one for unfinished applications. If you haven’t finished your application but you want to go ahead and post it, you should post in the unfinished section and come back to it to finish up when you can. Once you’ve finished, most sites just ask that you reply to your own application with something like, “i’m finished.” or “i think this is ready to go.” This is referred to as a bump. You’ll often see someone saying things like, “You can only bump your request once every three days.” or “If you’re finished with your app you can bump it so the admins see that you’re done.” That’s what they’re talking about when they say that.
After Your Application is Accepted
If the admins feel that your application needs a little more for them to get a full grasp of your character, your application may be pended and a message sent to you. Try not to take this as an attack. This is just an opportunity for you to dig deeper and get to know your character even more than you already do. A good admin will let you know what part of your application could use some more meat and may even give you advice/suggestions if you ask. Everyone gets a pended application at some point or another. Don’t fret.
Once you get the glorious stamp of approval your application will be moved to the accepted forum. This is where you will plot with other characters. Don’t get over eager yet though. After acceptance it is important to make all your claims. You’ll need to go post in the face claim thread with the appropriate code, even if you reserved the face before. A reserve is not endless and will run out. If you don’t want to risk losing your face you MUST go update your claim. Many sites also have a member directory claim, which usually allows you to give a short blurb about yourself and lists your characters so everyone knows who plays which characters. Sometimes there is even an occupation claim so everyone can see their characters coworkers and this kind of claim can making plotting a breeze.
Once all claims are made, you can finally get into the really fun stuff. ( I personally really adore the character creation stage but plotting/writing is the best part of roleplaying obviously. )
Plotting
Plotting, like in all roleplays, is important to help you establish character interactions and relationships. To begin plotting on a forum, you need to find the forum where all accepted character applications have been moved. The applications are often categorized by membergroup.  Read a character’s application to determine if that character is someone that yours would interact with in some way. When you have an idea all you need to do is post in the character’s application (also often called a shipper) with that idea.
Again, reading the replies on others will help you understand how plotting on a forum works.
Once plotting is established and you’re ready to start writing with someone it is time to start a thread. To do so you find the location that you want your thread to take place in. Say you want the interaction to occur in a house. There should be a forum titled ‘residences’ or ‘homes’ or something similar. You should go to that forum and find the button that says ‘new topic’ or ‘new post.’ When you’ve finished your starter you just hit submit and wait for the other person to tag you back in the same thread.
Tagging
I prefer jcink forums above all else, so I wanted to add in a bit about their alert system. On jcink forums you can tag your rp partner when you reply to a thread that you have together. You can do this by adding @[character’s username]
This will send them a notification that you have tagged them in your thread.
Have fun!
It might all seem complicated in the start but forum roleplaying really is a very organized fun way of roleplaying. It also doesn’t take long to pick up. You’ll find your way around in no time.
Please let me know if this was helpful to anyone or if you’d prefer I shut up. Suggestions are welcome. Let me know if screenshots would help this guide or if there is any area of forum roleplay that you would like more detail on. I’m here to help!

Spoiler-free COG feelings/essay/thoughts before I see the movie. Spoiler-free because the movie isn’t out here til the end of the week but obviously, I’ve picked up info from trailers and interviews and things like that so sort of common knowledge stuff but I guess if you’ve avoided all the promos for the year I wouldn’t want to ruin it for you now so don’t read until after you’ve seen it if that’s the case (again, I only know basic info).
I have a lot of feelings that I’ve been sitting on for a while because frankly, large parts of the Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter fandom terrify me. It’s why in my nineteen years (okay, thirteen years – I had to learn how to read) I’ve distanced myself from engaging in the fandom too much and when I do, I try and stick to as safe, neutral content as possible.
But I’m going to write a little bit a lot (my anxiety’s poppin off the charts right now) not to antagonise anyone or personally offend people just to get this pent up crap off my chest before I see the movie.
I have Māori and Pākehā parentage. Although I am proud to be a Māori girl and I’m definitely not white-passing, I do acknowledge that out of my family, I was born with the lightest skin and being a lighter-skinned/mixed poc among my family and friends has made me recognise my privilege. That isn’t to say I haven’t experienced lifelong struggles with racism, bullying and discrimination but I will never experience the same micro-aggressions and experiences that they have. Although, I do have light-skinned privileges and I don’t ever want to take away the struggles of my family that I won’t experience on the same level, growing up looking a little different opened me up a lot of feelings of invalidation within my own culture. When I experienced racism as a child, I was also met with disdain for being upset about it when I wanted to talk about it. This was when I was a child and I didn’t understand lighter skinned privilege or the animosity from some of my own people. I am far more educated now, but during that confusing time I, like most children, turned to literature (which in turn is what helped me make sense of the world).
I’ve gotten a little off track – this isn’t overly important to what I’m writing about, but it is introducing my opinion as coming from a woman of colour who has experienced racism and horrible bullying, but I always feel the need to clarify my position as a lighter skinned poc before giving my opinion based on those experiences.
Obviously from my content, I love Leta Lestrange. Perhaps it started out as a matter of representation, but I feel like over the past year, I have become intrigued with her for a number of reasons. She’s striking me as a Sirius, Regulus and Andromeda Black type character. Different to her family and caught in a struggle of light and dark (magic, not skin colour). Loves magical creatures. I haven’t seen it yet but it seems like she is one of the centre point characters of the film. She seems to be connected to many of the main characters in one way or another and has always striked me as the most intriguing.
I really do hope I am wrong but the ‘other’ love interest’s in the Harry Potter universe are usually treated terribly. They experience character assassination to further the development of the canon/new interest.
I really hope this film doesn’t do the whole blow out a woc character to make the white, self-insert, classically beautiful, ‘im not like other girls’ character shine brighter.
Before everyone comes for me, I wouldn’t say I’m a Tina ‘anti’ whatever that is. There’s no like extreme hatred at all! I would say I don’t like Tina as a character, or Queenie for that matter. Not yet anyway. The new trailer gives me hope that this movie might win me over finally. It doesn’t need to be upsetting or offensive to anyone. There are lots of people out there with favourite and not-so-favourite characters. A lot of people dislike Ron, Dumbledore, Snape, even Harry…and there are people who have those characters as their favourite.
There are a lot of reasons I don’t like Tina and Queenie. I may address them in a different post if being vague upsets people more than going in-depth but at this point, I am trying to stay as unconfrontational as possible but I have seen people get extremely furious when they don’t deem your reason for disliking them to be ‘good enough’ so if not saying exactly what I find uncomfortable about them is not as preferable as telling people then I can write it up as respectfully as possible if I’m treated the same way. All I’ll say is that I think Tina is a good person, but, in my opinion, not a great character. Queenie is the opposite. I would not like Queenie as a person but I have to admit, she’s a good character. But I’ll hold the rest of my opinions until after the second film.
Honestly, the film adaptions leave some of my favourite book characters to be desired. Maybe if FB was a novel, I’d like Tina but I really dislike her in the movies. I have seen people blow up when this is said. I try to understand the outrage. I think one of the reasons I dislike Tina is one of the reasons why people love her. She is, at this point and in my opinion (which is ONLY an opinion), a self-insert character. Any Newt x Reader fanfiction can easily read as a Newtina fanfiction and vice versa. I know. Because I’m a FB fanfiction writer myself and tried to write her. Sometimes when you attach yourself to a character so much, it can feel personally offensive when someone says something as harmless such as they don’t like then. I don’t experience this as often. Every Reader/OC fanfiction is, perhaps unintentionally, but nearly always aimed at a white person in description. In actuality, nearly every character in literature is, intentionally or not, described with textbook white features or assumed white by the fandom/readers/watchers.
I know people are going to hate this opinion because I’ve seen people jump down other people’s throats when this gets brought up. I do believe, whether it is conscious or not, Leta not being white COULD, subconsciously, be a factor as to why she is so inherently hated. I’ve seen more hate for Leta than any other character – even the antagonist! I hate what they did to Lavender Brown, book and movie wise, but even she, being as over exaggeratedly unlikable as a romantic plot device, received and still receives far less fandom hate than Cho Chang (who was also eventually written to be ‘jealous, hysterical, unlikeable’, etc, etc – I don’t agree btw I love, understand and appreciate Cho and Lavender)  who was smart, talented, kind, traumatised, and until it was no longer convenient to the main characters romance for her to be ‘likeable’ anymore.
I wish I could enjoy going through the Leta tag but often, her and Newt can’t even be in a scene or photo together and people lose their minds with anger and hate. Literally, the comments on any scene/photo they are in are all along the lines of ‘stay away from newt!/poor tina/urgh, don’t flirt leta/leta WHAT ARE YOU DOING?’. Sorry, to break it to you guys but it isn’t a love triangle. It’s a love conga line. The only person getting in the way of ‘Newtina’ is Newt. Instagram is even worse. By worse, I mean horrible beyond belief. The better comments are the ones are the ones merely (though still grossly) comparing her to Tina and how much they dislike her, the other ones are wishes that she’ll get killed or join Grindelwald. It’s literally not even hidden the fact they wish either of these things happen so Newtina can happen faster. I’m not a Newtina shipper at all (Yet. Again, this might change if the films improve) but this would be one of the worst ways to further your ship. That is literally not going to change the fact that Newt’s still in love with her (you can have feelings for two people at the same time. The filmmakers confirmed - in fact, one of the first things about the new movie that they confirmed - that Newt is ‘absolutely still in love with her’), it just makes her conveniently unattainable. I do have a feeling that Leta might die and if it happens, it better not be because she’s unwillingly in the way of a ‘love triangle’ that people have forced these three characters into. If Newtina is going to happen in a way that isn’t awful, rushed and horrible, it will be slow-burn and it’s in own time AFTER Newt has healed and properly fixed things with Leta. You can’t be best friends and in love with someone for 15+ years and fall out of love with them immediately after they die, turn bad and settle for a woman you met for like two days and collectively spent maybe ten hours with. It might be a Ron/Hermione situation where it’s slow and eventual. That’s the only way I could possibly get on board and I think it could be done tastefully if they don’t resort to lazy writing. I do have my fingers crossed I’ll start to like the Goldsteins before this happens and I can enjoy it as much as everyone else does.
To be honest, after seeing the trailers, I see only two endings for Leta (and I hate them BOTH):
She joins Grindelwald: If this is the plot twist, it’s the shittiest plot twist ever. Pretty much 90% of the fans since seeing the first film have assumed/liked to believe she’s pure evil. Probably the characters themselves all assume she’s evil from her last name. I was worried the whole ‘haha, I was on Grindelwald’s side all along!’ situation was going to happen. We know JK hates Slytherins. My ‘Leta joins Grindelwald’ theory would be that she has always been on the good side – or trying to be – and after YEARS of oppression and discrimination and being distrusted by maybe the central characters in this film no matter how hard she tries AND maybe finally realising that Newt isn’t going to ever forgive her she just snaps and goes all ‘f*ck you guys then’ (I wouldn’t blame her tbh). HOWEVER, I doubt this. In a trailer, you literally see Leta THROW a fucking spell STANDING BY HERSELF (what u doin bby?) at Grindelwald. Trust me, if this was Tina it would have been all everyone was talking about but of course the fandom was all ‘yeah, see, she’s in the same frame as Grindelwald SHE’S EVIL’. One of the trailers is literally titled Leta vs. Grindelwald. Everything in the trailers/promos points to Queenie joining Grindelwald but *shrugs, I guess*.
Leta dies: I get this may seem the preferable way to appease the Leta haters and the Leta lovers especially if she dies after redeeming herself or heroically or whatever but urgh, no. I know everyone’s like ‘DoNt MAKe ThIS AbOUT RaCe’ when the woc character inevitably is killed but I’m sorry. To have been able to sit in a theatre as a little girl and see Leta Lestrange in the wizarding world would have blown my tiny mind. Honestly, as an older teen seeing Zoe Kravitz in that little photo frame in Newt’s case in the first film was iconic enough for me. After growing up being made to believe I was ‘unattractive’ because of how I looked, seeing total dreamboats like Callum Turner and Eddie Redmayne’s characters being all heart-eyes over Leta is, like...wow!  And I do have an uncomfortable truth for people who want Leta to die. That would possibly be the WORST thing to happen for the Newtina thing (would pretty much be the last nail in the coffin for me ever coming around to it). I’ve seen it happen in my family when someone you love dies. Your feelings for them essentially FREEZE. You can’t fall out of love with someone who is dead. That’s of course not to say that you don’t love again and just as much as the first time. But it takes time (LOTS of it) and there’s a little part of your heart that’s like…permanently sealed off. I don’t even like Newtina yet and I’m hoping for the sake of the Newtina fans that Leta doesn’t die because freakin’ yikes. Just let them heal and connect and be besties again goddammit, its POSSIBLE (and bet your ass I’ll write it my god damn self to prove it if they don’t).
I know these are highly unpopular opinions and I HOPE that I am wrong, and they do her character justice and don’t discard her via death or the dark side.
In summary, I suppose my biggest struggle with Leta’s character is definitely the overwhelming fandom hate which I still can’t quite comprehend. I really want to believe it isn’t a race thing. Though, I have seen horrible posts about Leta, mean comments on nearly every Leta promo, Zoe Kravitz literally being called a c*nt in the comments of a Leta post on tumblr, a lot of fanfictions having her be primarily evil, selfish, manipulative, in some a rapist even, ugly, cruel, etc. But honestly, she’s literally not interfering in Newt having a relationship with anyone at all??? She’s literally been villainised because her friend can’t get over her (getting Snily nostalgia). But buggered if I’ve been able to find next to anything of that calibre about Jacob’s fiancée (literally a Queenie doppelganger) who left him, like, the day he met Queenie. I get that it was a deleted scene for those non-hardcore fans, but Leta-hate was literally kicked off by a picture in a photo frame and a comment made by a, in my opinion, kind of not-nearly-as-infallible-as-people-think character that barely knows Newt breaking into his head non-consensually (after being repeatedly told not to) who had an agenda to hook him up with her sister. Sooo…*shrugs*.
Even I personally have tried to keep out of the fandom debates, but I wrote a Leta and Newt story (still ongoing) that I stopped for a while because the kind of disgusting comments I was receiving about people hating the pairing. Which, I get. You don’t like a pairing, that’s cool? Why are you going and seeking out a piece about them and then taking the time to leave a comment? Whenever I start to read a story about Leta being this horrific monster of a person and being torn apart and compared and occasionally borderline racist, I just…click out? I know it’s only a small patch of weeds in what is likely a garden of roses, but I have never come across such an insecure fandom for a literal canon ship. If the relationship was that pure and strong, you wouldn’t feel the need to kill or villainise the (non-existent) ‘threat’. I just hope the writers feel the same way. You can write healthy closures and strong women of colour characters without casting them aside for plot development/man pain/stereotypical Caucasian romance/plot device, etc... I’m going to go into the theatre at the end of the week slightly optimistic to be fair but I’m also fully expecting to be disappointed but honestly, Leta could avada kedavra every character and she’s still going to be my favourite, I don’t make the rules.

“Femfirmative Fics”
I’ve had a version of this post saved in my drafts for months, but it never felt like a good time to post it. But I guess now would be an appropriate time, because of this femfirmative blog. I personally find the whole concept of it insulting - to say that our writing so misogynistic that there needs to be an entire blog dedicated to filtering out our “bullshit,” as she calls it.
I always, always treat Molly well in my fics. In all my experience of reading Johnlock fics, the women (especially Molly and Irene) always have way more dignity and agency than is ever given to them in the show, so I don’t know where this claim is coming from:
Tumblr media
In 99.9% of the Johnlock fics I’ve read, Molly is given happiness, and isn’t hung up on Sherlock for years and years like she is in the show. Of course, there’s always going to be some outliers you could dig up. No fandom is perfect. But every single popular “big” fic I’ve read treats her well.
Mary ranges from a friend of John’s, to temporary girlfriend, to ex partner, to villain - yes, villain. Because choosing to explore a characters’ darker sides which are shown explicitly in the show on more than one occasion is not “ridiculing” or “tearing her down.” And even if you’re not interested in a fic like that, it takes two seconds to just read the tags. That’s what they’re there for.
Idk if the runner of this blog (who is a multi shipper but mostly a Sherl0llian) is trying to be insulting with her wording, or just genuinely isn't reading the right fics. But either way, the idea that we’re misogynists has been around in the fandom for awhile, and I want to take a closer look at some of the reasons why. Because it’s mostly supported by people taking legitimate arguments and rewording/exaggerating them until they’re unrecognizable, leaving out key points, judging the all of us based on a small percentage that they know most of us disagree with.
So here goes:
1. Not liking Mary - First of all, people who say this can never decide on their definition of “don’t like.” There are plenty of Johnlockers who love Mary and/or were hoping to see her become a kickass villain. It is possible to like a character who is a villain. And yes, there are some who don’t like Mary for perfectly valid reasons - shooting and almost killing the main character for no reason being among them. People often like to reduce this issue down to “we hate her because she gets in the way of two dicks touching.” This argument completely overrides all of the horrible things Mary canonically did, and the numerous surface level reasons to dislike her. It’s just a convenient one-liner for them to pull whenever someone points out canon facts about her from the show - not to mention it’s an extremely homophobic thing to say. Mary is a dynamic, fleshed out character who has made morally questionable (and flat out wrong) decisions, so it’s expected that there will be a wide range of opinions on her.
1. Saying Mary is a villain - This is misogynistic how? Some of the best villains in popular media are women, and are sometimes even fan favorites. If this reading of her character had no basis whatsoever, then yeah, I can understand how it’d be seen as a convenient way to “get her out of the way.” But what people like to ignore is that there are numerous subtextual AND surface level clues pointing to her being a potential villain. The most obvious being her trying to kill Sherlock, the most subtle being her similarities to Moran from canon, and a whole bunch in between. There is a reason this theory exists - it’s totally plausible and would have been awesome. But it’s just more convenient for people who hate Johnlockers to dismiss it as misogynistic.
2. Not liking Molly- Again, this definition of “don’t like” pretty much just boils down to the fact that we don’t ship her with Sherlock…. I mean that’s pretty much all I have to say on this one. There’s not much else I can say. There are Johnlockers who love Molly, and those who don’t care so much for her, and everything in between. The same way that there are fans who like, dislike, or are neutral towards other minor characters like Irene or Mycroft. (And the same way that there are some Sherl0llians who openly hate John, but get angry if someone doesn’t like Molly. I’v never read their stuff but I think it’s safe assumption to make that those people’s hatred of him leaks into some of their fics. I HIGHLY doubt John is treated with the utmost dignity and kindness all the time in their fandom).
3. Reducing Molly and other female characters to mirrors - This one applies to tjlcers, not all Johnlockers. A common thing for anti-tjlcers/ other shippers to say is “[Female character] is not a mirror! She’s her own person!” Two points here. 1. Being a mirror really isn’t reduction at all. Of course she’s her own person! But that’s not to say that when there are such blatant parallels between her and one of the leads, maybe just maybe those were put there for a reason. Being a mirror is basically the same concept as being foil, except it’s through similarities instead of contrast. I don’t see how this is a reduction. If that’s the case, then any time a female character is used as a foil in literature, is it sexist too? 2. How is it sexist when tjlc reads both male and female characters as possible mirrors? What about the gay innkeepers? Sholto? Mr. Holmes? Or Ajay, who strongly paralleled Mary?? Not sexist then, is it?
Now let’s look at how Johnlockers- generally speaking- actually do view the women in the show. (Again, we’re not a hive mind, so there will be some who disagree but here we go:)
Mary: see above
Molly: see above
Hudders: Love her
Mummy Holmes: Love her
Rosie: Wish she’s had an actual purpose in the plot instead of being a prop for some “awwws” and then disappearing until the end
Irene: Badass lesbian. ACD feminist icon. Wish she’d beaten Sherlock like she did in the canon. Too bad Moffat’s writing of her is misogynistic to the core and she had to fall for him and be weakened by her sentiment instead. Good thing there’s fanfic!
Janine: Super funny, great brotp potential with Sherlock. Wish she could have returned to the show. So much potential, what with her connections to Magnussen’s network, friendship with Mary, and budding friendship with Sherlock
Eurus: Canon villain. Won't apologize for not liking her. Doesn't appear in most johnlock fics, although i do know of some great ones that include her and make her far more interesting and fleshed out than a mind-controlling sociopath.
The claim that our fics are misogynistic is absurd and comes from absolutely nowhere. Obviously, you could dig and find outliers where the woman are treated badly. The same way that you could find Sherl0lly fics that treat John horribly if you wanted.
My point is, is it some huge problem that makes this femfirmative blog necessary? Absolutely not.
I don’t think having blog a dedicated to reccing Johnlock fics that have well-written women is a bad idea, necessarily. My problem is the blog runner’s approach.
This easily could’ve been a fun idea aiming to promote our work instead of presenting it like a filter for those who want a safe place from the dark, scary Johnlock tag on AO3. She introduced it by subtly and not-so-subtly dissing Johnlockers, making wild claims about our writing, calling us names, and then switching to praising our fics (but it’s too bad we’re so sexist, right?)
She also could’ve added more johnlocky tags to the post to help it get to our side of the fandom. Instead she just used “jlock,” the tag for those who don’t ship it (which slightly makes me question the intentions of this blog).
She also could’ve tagged some Johnlock rec blogs who would’ve been happy to help spread the word instead of only tagging a Sherl0llian (another questionable thing about this).
Heck, I even would’ve been down to send along some recs, if this hadn’t been approached with all all the petty insults and complaining about how hard it is to find a Johnlock fic that isn’t sexist (it’s not hard at all). But why would I want to participate in something that’s openly insulting, made by someone who posts wank about Johnlockers all the time on her normal blog. Our most popular rec blog already has a ton of lists entirely dedicated to the women. We don’t need to look any further than her and others to find fics that this blog calls “femfirmative.”

I’m thinking about the timing of everything relating to Punisher promotion and Daredevil Season 3 pre-production. Seeing as they were happening at the same time.
Punisher promotional choices were very Kastle-heavy, more and more the closer drop date got. Like, in everything. In promos and clips, in interviews, in official social media account activity. It was so heavy. I’ve never seen anything quite like it to be honest (it was fuckin’ awesome lol). Now, they obviously made that choice because they thought it was gonna work, that it would help push the show for success. But how it also wasn’t an obvious test for Kastle going forward - including on the show they were about to start filming - I don’t know.
I don’t know how you have people doing storylining and actors taking on plots that can completely dismiss a current vocal response - and one that Marvel promotion is very much encouraging. And well, you don’t. Deborah Ann Woll showed more than once that pre-Daredevil season 3, it was exactly where her head was, literally said she was discussing it with Daredevil writers, that what Karen had been through with Frank was important to her Daredevil storylining.
Kastle trending one of the top ships of the week, most reviewers finding the relationship a highlight, the official social media accounts engaging in conversation about future Kastle, and future Frank verses Matt in terms of Karen, storylining, interviewers asking about the future relationship in relevance to Matt and Daredevil, social media accounts totally hinting and teasing fans that Frank will be in Daredevil season 3. And minimal backlash to the idea of Kastle (seriously, I check the anti tags regularly. Most actual backlash is from types who want Punisher to be all violence and rage and action only. And as far as I can tell, it’s really more about what could happen. Like, the concern that Frank will somehow become all love and no Punisher and be boring. I don’t think it’s about anything that’s actually happened. Most of those same people loved Frank’s storylines both in Daredevil and in Punisher and Karen was involved in both. I think the shows have done a good balance so far and I don’t see why that should change. But in terms of ships? Backlash barely exists.)
The idea of Daredevil Season 3 being Matt and Karen, or even just dismissing the Kastle progression altogether, when actors, reviewers, promotion is encouraging it and actually putting a lot of worth and value on it - those things surely to Christ don’t go together. I’ve never gotten the impression that the Marvel (especially Marvel Netflix) promotional machine was incompetent, or troll-inclined. If no Kastle is the aim going forward and actually the next chapter is Karen and someone else, you shut the Kastle promotion down. You shut the talk of it down. You stop actors talking about how they want it and played it a potential future storyline...right? Otherwise, isn’t it just seriously self-sabotage? Why get fans excited about something that is not happening? Why get fans excited and engaged about something that the currently being worked on/next project will be the opposite of? Part of the Karen Page promotion is the audience crossover between Daredevil and Punisher. So why the fuck would you work that same audience up for a storyline that the next thing (the thing being decided and created right now, at the same time) is going to dismiss? And something that is conflict with it (as in, Karen with someone not Frank) Especially because it’s not difficult to shut that talking point down. Punisher had a lot of really great themes, great performances, great visuals, great discussion points. There’s plenty of other things to focus on if Kastle, and that relationship, is a future no seller.
The other two things are with the Punisher drop date being pushed back a bit, that means the original one would have even more so allowed for Daredevil to take account of the Kastle response before going ahead with production. And I’m kind of curious if that’s part of why the Kastle promotion was so aggressive in the end, to try to make up for that loss of time, to try to gauge as much of an audience feeling as quickly as possible before Daredevil Season 3 production started.
And the other is Defenders and Punisher. They were filmed around the same kind of time, right? Punisher wrapped in April, and Defenders wrapped in March, I think. As in, when decisions about having Matt be SO for Elektra were being made for Defenders, so were decisions about Karen and Frank’s involvement with each other in Punisher. That seems like an obvious joint, or at least equally understood position to take. I was quite confused about the Matt and Elektra and Matt and Karen storylining in Defenders because it was so extreme to the point that it seemed like something they couldn’t come back from. Given the choices going on with Punisher at the same time and what each would mean going forward, Defenders storylining makes more sense to me now.
I’m obviously biased. I think writing going forward makes sense with Kastle. I’ve wanted that since Daredevil Season 2. I think it’s obvious there’s a good response for it (watching the response and total boom of shippers has been really quite fascinating) and the actors welcome it - more than. But in terms of rationale...I don’t see how the promotional choices, and so close to the start of filming, can be mutually exclusive. Again, unless Marvel promotion is incompetent and trolling, but I really don’t think that’s the case. I think they’re a lot better than that. I mean, that’s how Punisher became a series in the first place, because of response from that character in another show. And now when Daredevil Season 3 is being made, choices about potential of a Punisher Season 2 will be getting made. And so on, with Daredevil promotion being when Punisher Season 2 could be getting filmed. It just seems so obvious.
