9-1-1 8x4 Live Reaction
Under the cut.
I've heard good things so... Let's do this!
LOL not Buck and Gerard out golfing.
"Baby's belly" - soft.
LOL - he doesn't want to be beloved - FEARED THAN LOVED. OMG.
OMG he wants BUCK to help him make the 118 tough?? OH SHIT OH SHIT. FIRING!!!
12% is better for firing???
"That's what you get for saving the boss' life - instead of being on the list, you get to make it" - SHIT.
I don't care about Bathena house-shopping.
Shit, Ortiz is running for mayor. OMG she's bringing it up with Hen and what happened with her son. FUCK - EYES AND EARS???
She wants to hold Hen responsible.
LMAO Chim correcting Gerard. What is this scene? Body cams???
OMG.
OH Shit! This poor cheerleader.
"The cheerleader is ass-backwards." - the 9-1-1 explanations are hilarious.
It's nice to see the other three rocking it since they were sidelined last episode.
Aww this kid assuming his dad wouldn't come.
Eddie's like "you know, let's just do this here - in a moving vehicle."
Loving Hen and Eddie working together and it works!!! Naturally.
ooooh he called him dad. Poor Eddie.
Wait, photos of the child with them??? OH this things with M/C backfired like I suspected. Of course Ortiz would be able to catch that & point out that it's (or would be) a problem to stay in contact with a child that was taken from you.
OOOH, is this going to work? I doubt it. But Hen's got a good speech.
Now they can't even see her!!! Awwwww :(
At least she's not being taken from Maddie and Chim and to a group home. Wouldn't be surprised if M/C got THEIR license revoked.
LOL the META on TV shows.
Aww "I don't want another house, I want my house."
LOL considering stealing another truck.
Oh no, they're going to rebuild - and Micheal sent over the old plans.
OOOOH, Bobby's not happy because he went into her house and was hoping for a shot to build something together rather than go back to HER place. More stones in their marriage?
Oh, Hen. Why would you do this? Ortiz doesn't care.
"We're all she has" - "yeah, well, my son was all I had. So she can go on too."
WHAT SHE DESERVES???
OF COURSE THEY"RE FRIENDS!!!
"Lack of leadership???"
LOL - "hey,... is my phone off?" "No, I didn't call." IDK why I find it so funny.
Oh, Hen, it's not on you. WHY DOES ORTIZ HAVE THIS AUTHORITY???
Ohhhh Buck. He went to Bobby!!
"Buck, you can't quit because your captain likes you." <3
if he did, then he'd not have stayed with the 118 so long. LOL
Bobby's back to being the 'unofficial captain', I love it. It reminds me of 'Chim's brief stint as captian'.
LOVE IT.
Bobby doesn't like the STACHE!!
Chim's like "The 118 needs you".
OOOOH Gerard doesn't wanna be there? OH RUDE CHIM.
This guy looks really hurt!! No way this was a dog.
OH SHIT. This woman is about to get hurt.
RUN LADY RUN.
IT"S A TIGER!!!!!
Awww this woman. I feel bad.
I really like these 'try and help themselves' scenes with Maddie.
AW CGI BABY TIGER.
LOL Chim with the gun - "where'd you learn to do that?" - "I have layers."
Tiger jumping up at him!!
She opened the door! OH NO!
Oh good. Down kitty!
This lady - no pets!
Oh Bobby at Hotshots. He called Gerard down there.
LOL they made the brit joke again.
The voice of god around here? LOL.
He thinks Bobby is living the dream.
Bobby telling him to quit himself. "She's been using you Vincent and laughing at you."
Oh Eddie what the fuck are you doing? It's not your business to get involved.
You're not a therapist. You don't know what their relationship is. Don't project your shit onto other people.
He showed him the body cam footage???
Gerard & Ortiz. "You're going about this all wrong."
She's a sick SOB. A JUDGE IN HER POCKET. No wonder the judge looked sad at Hen's speech.
WHY GERARD??? SHUT THE 118 DOWN???
New Fire Chief??? NO!
Wait a second - he was wearing his uniform with the body cam - was he RECORDING HER????
OMG, she's really doing this??? FUCK.
OH SHIT HE WAS!!
GERARD SAVES THE DAY. DIDN'T EXPECT IT!
LOVE BOBBY doing this and getting Gerard on their side!!
I LOVE IT!
Glad to see the kids doing much better!!
Oh shit, the dad showed up!
A family reunited!!
Love it!!
Aww, Bobby admitting it was never his house and them deciding to create their own :)
Bobby's BACK!! YAY!!
AND GERARD IS AT HOTSHOTS!! LOVE IT!!
This was great!!! :)

Netflix's ATLA initial thoughts, ep 8: Legends
Honestly love Katara joining Aang in attacking the ships. I still wish he could waterbend too. Oh Sokka is here! Teamwork :')
Awkward CGI ftw. I had to mention it at least once.
Iroh giving Zuko advice makes more sense! That's the kind of thing I wanna see! That said, "Lu Ten woulda been proud" is not as strong as "You are like a son to me." Whack dialogue strike 74.
Bringing in the airship early is...a choice. And oh man Iroh, you will find out what job soon enough.
WHY HAVEN'T WE SEEN AANG WATERBEND
I GUESS WE'LL SEE ALL THESE WOMEN FIGHT INSTEAD I'M NOT CRYING
Sokka and Yuuue sitting in a...on an ice block
Master Katara seemingly as earned in this show as in the OG. Which is extra points against this show lmao you're supposed to improve upon the flaws you stupid remake!
Fucking fire sage traitor ass bitch. I don't mind the sages having this information; makes sense. I also like that the ocean and moon spirits appear rarely instead of BEING mortal. That is the kind of flaw improvement I like to see.
I don't love the super powerful being (Aang) seeing things others don't. It's giving hallucinations for plot purposes, which I hate.
Momo came here to nearly die, I see. I'll allow it. There's a push and pull (heh) between realism and fantasy and they are leaning toward realism. It works if Yue has powers and needs to save someone in an oasis that is not just a 10 by 10 island.
I love seeing the adults act. They're so believable lmao.
Katara Zuko fight! Lmao and Aang telling her to go easy on him. I wish that was earned.
"Yes. You're looking at her." PERIODT! I...wish that was earned.
Zhao wanting firelord is bullshit. Also how do you know which fish is the moon? Must... not... nitpick... final... episode.......
I will say Zhao's actor ate this whole season. He came to the Netflix buffet and had his fill and then some.
Color grading, I kiss you on the mouth.
So many water tribe warriors would have died in the wake of the death of the moon spirit. I'm glad they showed that. It hurts to watch but I didn't sign up for this live action remake to have my hand held.
I finally believe this kid as Aang and it took him about to go kaiju. Maybe because I couldn't see his eyes.
Speaking of kaiju!!! Fuck it up, kings! We BIG mad with the Avatar and ocean spirit!
He's a small man! Who's gonna meet a small end!!!
Okay. I love Azula in this. They made a good choice here. Actually no. They made many good choices here. They brought her forward a season and they made so many compelling choices with her character. Incredible.
Yeah keep throwing fireballs at a water kaiju you dumb fucks.
Sokka and Yuuue... and then just Sokka...
Katara, he can't hear you. Stfu.
I love seeing the aftermath except I don't. Fuck the aftermath. Have I not cried enough?
NOT THE GUY WITH THE DIMPLES
You don't! Have to be a warrior!!! To be a hero!!!!!!
A man needs his rest!!!!!! And a me needs their CRY
Chemistry between the trio in the literal last scene of them lmao.
Azula helping conquer Omashu? Under the shadow of the siege of the north? Brilliant.
NOT AZULA BEING A WEAK SACRIFICE.
Yeah what the FUCK is next, Azula?
G-give...me season 2? Now. I want it now.
More thoughts coming....well I have a lot of work the next few days but this will be front of mind anyway lol

LBFAD. Episode 1. Part 2
Part 1
Then there are the scenes in the pagoda. It would seem that this should be the most important and cool moment. The action, the rescue of ChangHeng, and, of course, introducing our main "villain". But it was this part of the episode that turned out to be the most disastrous. Everything is bad, from the plot itself to the visuals.
The Council of Immortals, of which there are a huge number, judging by what we see, in general the whole drama were a cardboards, a bunch of people who can't budge. Sometimes it seemed to me that the emperor just lost people somewhere and pretended that he still had an army, haha.
Despite the huge number of higher immortals, a weak fairy somehow got into this territory, passing through the crowd of immortals and managed to get in front of ChangHeng. Who, by the way, not only didn't react to this in any way, but also didn't recognize her dress. Just in vain Orchid preened before, the advice of friends clearly didn't help.
Interesting that ChangHeng was supposed to die, but for some reason Lanhua wasn't hurt at all. Maybe because in the process, for some unknown reason, her goddess power suddenly activated, this moment is shown to us. Although later this didn't manifest itself at all for a long time and her powers didn't protect her.
Maybe it's Dongfang Qingcang's powers. So, there are many questions, few answers. But the spirit of Dongfang for some reason just took her to himself and pulled her to the body. Did his spirit, unconsciously of course, feel that she could put his soul together? How and why his spirit broke up into separate parts, then united together again. Without the goddess, his soul couldn't seem to recover itself. This we will never know.
But you know, all these questions came to me much later, because the first time I didn't understand what was going on at all and all I could think about was the squalor of special effects. I wanted to just laugh. Don't know why, but there is a real problem with CGI when they use a dark background in the series. They can't do it at all. And it really spoils the whole impression.
Everything looked poor quality, except, perhaps, the glow above the tower.
It looks cool, doesn't it?
Flying is also a problem. When Xiao Lanhua flies clearly on some cable, her body stands out brightly, obviously cut out and poorly illuminated, it looks disastrous.
Perhaps the worst scene.
ChangHeng flew no better. In a stupid unnatural pose. Strange and ridiculous.
In addition Lanhua kept bulging her eyes and sighing. Comical and not in a good way.
Having rewatched this scene many times now, I can't overcome this feeling, although my attitude towards some things has changed. But this is done frankly badly and this very sad. Because it's one of the main scenes that could make you want to watch the drama further, but it only makes you want to turn it off and never come back to it again. The most annoying thing is that a little color correction could have at least slightly corrected this situation, but this wasn't done. I think that those who care about the picture, at this moment refused to watch this show.
And now, thinking about the events in the Cangyan Sea and the world of mortals, I clearly understand how big the difference is, how much the show has matured and showed a high level. But to get to this, you need to get through the thorns of the first episodes.
The music made things even worse. In general, the music is absolutely wonderful in this series. This is one of its main advantages. But at this point it only worsened the situation, as it turned out to be too striking a contrast with the picture. Like a child wearing his mother's shoes and dress. Because of this, everything seemed to me even more pathetic and miserable. And I'm the kind of person who rarely pays attention to the quality of special effects, shadows, details, and so on. But in this case, it was simply impossible to ignore it.
The only thing I liked was how they perform magic passes with their hands and fingers. In my opinion, it looks very cool and impressive, although it would seem quite simple from the outside, maybe even primitive. But I liked it.
Well, maybe DFCQ's eyes, illuminated by fire, also weren't bad. They never failed. Really. It's a pity that they stopped using it pretty quickly. So sad. But in such a pile of garbage it's difficult to see a few diamonds like these.
The fact that Little Orchid was drawn to his lips was also completely ridiculous.
As well as the fact that they are in some kind of space, but later the tower is just a tower. And it's hard to say what it was, where she ended up and where his spirit led her. Whether these are hidden layers in the tower or some kind of separate world of the character's soul. Don't know. Maybe I need to know this genre better to answer these questions.
The scene with the tree seemed like a fresh sip compared to the previous squalor. Although the brighter colors of the universe looked better at the end, but it was short and didn't save after an extremely negative impression. But here the translation spoiled everything for me. In my version, it wasn't signed where she ended up. So I didn't understand anything at all, why the cosmos was drawn into the tree, and then she was at the bottom of the tower. It wasn't until I got further through the story that I realized what was that. The signature that this is the ocean of the heart of DFCQ, would make this moment a little more understandable for me.
Oh, it's so beautiful.
The next scene gives me mixed feelings. After such a beautiful scene with the tree… Damn it, I love Dongfang Qingcang. Even when he is in the Lanhua's body. And I love actors because they're just amazing at body-swapping. I believe them. I can see Orchid in Dongfang, and Dongfang in Orchid. This is especially important for XLH, because the actress was often scolded and many said that she couldn't act, but it seems to me when she is Dongfang, it shows that she really can. Although at the moment with the pebble, it seemed to me that Dongfang became a little feminine, don't you think?
The moment where Dongfang Qingcang is meditating, is immediately a success after the stupid scenes with the fall. Dongfang is a masterpiece even in a woman's body. Although it's funny, after 30 thousand years of imprisonment, he took a couple more minutes to sleep, I mean meditate, of course. Haha. Or was he like a spider waiting for his prey?
But Xiao Lanhua quickly destroys this mysterious and pretentious atmosphere with her quirks. It was funny and amusing. But what confused me about this scene that I really liked? I think the problem is in the previous scenes. Where there should have been drama and tension for me was clowning. And when the picture looks normal again, you're waiting for something more intense. But you get another dose of humor.
So we haven't had time to see DFCQ yet, but he was already ridiculed. And everything would have be fine, but after not the most interesting scenes, we weren't given something that would stimulate us to look further. Therefore, everything moved further with a creak for me and I watched the next episode without much enthusiasm. We were never saw Dongfang Qingcang in all his splendor in the first episode. And you suddenly wonder if this boy can be this powerful supreme, or if what you've seen before is just good GIFs and pictures. And although I understand why it was done and it's even justified, they needed something strong for the second episode. But then the first one should have been more powerful and dynamic, and not a guidebook to the series. My name is Orchid and I am a fairy, and this is ChangHeng and he is the god of war. The series didn't interest me and Dongfang could have saved it for me, but he wasn't given a chance. Even the ending, the usual death threat, seemed weak to me.
Well, what can I say about the first episode. Before it, my expectations from the drama were average, but after it they went even lower. I was almost disappointed, I was bored, uninterested, confused and this action didn't cause a desire to understand all this. When watching the series again, it no longer caused so many dull impressions, and even jambs with special effects, I was ready to forgive it (except for the Orchid's fall, I'm sorry, lol), but it doesn't cause much interest either. This is a frankly weak episode. Because the main heroine and the good guy are too flat and banal for me to want to know the continuation of their story. I don't care, they didn't hook me. And I think this is the reason why many people twisted their faces and spoke badly about the whole drama. The first episode set the bar too low, and the first impression is notoriously hard to fix. And even though the following episodes were getting better, the audience already had a biased attitude.
Very, very sad. Because I know that if I want to get someone hooked on this drama, I will have to convince the person that this story is worth their time and that they need give a chance, because for some moments I'll be ashamed, and the person is clearly bored. Not the best acquaintance, I can tell you.

ok, so I finished watching this tonight and it was so bad. What a waste of Chen Kun's charisma and beauty as Yu Huatian!
sigh, he was the only good thing in it! I lovvved how differently he played Yu Huatian & Wind Blade (sorry I can’t remember the character’s name?) . But I went into that movie with like negative expectations, and honestly, compared to Mojin and Painted Skin, this was like heaven.

I know you don't watch marvel movies, neither do I and I don't care, or at least if I have to watch it (for liz or pugh) i do it properly no paying shit lol, but but but I had gifsets in my dashboard of the She Hulk trailer and sdfghjklkjhfdsfgh I'm fucking wheezing🤣🤣🤣😂 the cgi is so bad that it hurts your eyes even just watching gifs, I mean it's marvel so of course it's bad but THIS bad is fucking comical!! I can't stop laughing, a 9 years old could do it better with Paint! I mean you have an actress that acted with fucking tennis balls for 5 years and did it amazingly you didn't even notice she was acting with herself and then you see her in THIS! This is the bad of the bad place, anyway you can go back to your fic wars now!
Imagine having all the money in the world and your CGI looks like it was done with $20. The way that it got roasted on twitter yesterday was delicious. Honestly, I'm starting to form a sneaking suspicion that Marvel intentionally sabotages female lead projects because it's a fucking pattern now. Then people say "oh its because they hate women" OR MAYBE ITS BECAUSE MARVEL FUCKS THEM UP??? You'd never see CGI that bad on Captain America or Iron Man show or some shit like that. No fucking way.

Spring '21 anime list: What I tried, what I'm watching, and first impressions!
Shaman King (2021)
I hadn't heard about this show until the reboot was announced, and it seems neat so I'll give it a shot! Hesitation isn't quite the right word, but I am watching cautiously because there's a lot about early 2000's anime that should stay in the early 2000's. I'm prepared to take a certain amount of product-of-its-time-ness, but only so much.
I really like its unique visual style. It feels like it's got a similar vibe to Soul Eater and TWEWY with its chunky proportions and face design, and the squash-and-stretch animation really lends itself to comedic moments. I feel like there are some eminently cosplayable designs in my future.
Character-wise, it's only been one episode but I'm taking a liking to Yoh. Based on the OP I hope that Ryuu will be an early-antagonist-turned-loudmouth-friend like JJBA's Okuyasu or Sk8's Shadow. That's one of my favorite character tropes.
The World Ends With You the Animation
My friend is a huge TWEWY fan, so our group was really looking forward to this anime. I saw a little of the gameplay when the Switch version was released, up to the end of episode 1's plot. I know it's going to be excellent story wise, and I already may be planning on making cosplay of that Reaper with the skeleton hoodie.
I love a unique visual style and an awesome soundtrack, of course TWEWY already had that coming in. The CGI Noise are a little clunky, but allow for some really great fight sequences. The characters' CGI models are nearly seamless with the 2D. It feels like the plot is moving fast, but according to my friend they just skipped some fetch quests and puzzle solving that wouldn't have been interesting to animate.
I'm really looking forward to this one each week!
Dragon Goes House-Hunting
One of those "eh, we'll give it a shot" shows. A bunch of us have been eyeing real estate lately, so at the very least it's topical. If done right, the concept could be fun!
We spent most of the episode HATING the dragon's character design. Its proportions are just...awkward in every way. The neck is extremely short and thick and leads into a human-muscled torso, the arms are tiny twigs, and the legs are a little too human and a little too thick to be anything but unnerving. It's bad.
Oddly, except for the dragon, the rest of the creature designs are pretty great! In contrast to a lot of anime, they let them be really non-human and had a good design sense. The humor was solid, the Monster Hunter references were on point, and the character interactions were fun. The OP is GREAT, too!
We'll be continuing this one! If you can make your eyes stop hating you for forcing them to look at the Monster Factory reject of a dragon, I'd say give it a shot.
You Can Make A Mug Too
Now that Yuru Camp is over, we wanted another lighthearted anime that might teach us something while it's at it. You Can Make A Mug Too was one of our picks to sample because one member of anime night has recently acquired a kiln.
My impression is an approving but unenthusiastic "Fine, really." You can definitely tell it's an anime made to bring in tourism to the town it's based in. The characters don't really grab me, but they set up a solid emotional backbone for the story. The production quality isn't stunning, I was hoping for some nice pottery wheel animation but didn't get any.
It's probably a decent show, but we won't watch any more because of the next one on the list.
Supercub
Going straight from You Can Make A Mug to Supercub was like going from store-brand ice pops to fresh gelato. I can already tell this is my favorite anime of the season, hands down.
First, the production quality is excellent. The backgrounds are beautiful, the score is understated but well done to the point that Debussey's Clair de Lune felt like it had been made for the scene it was used for.
More than the production quality alone, this anime's direction is exceptional. It takes 'show don't tell' and uses it perfectly, using body language and soundtrack and shot composition to communicate as much or more than the sparse dialogue. Like, they made my heart skip a beat with nothing but color grading. THAT kind of exceptional.
I haven't spoken much about the plot because I really have no idea where it's going to go. Will we fill in why Koguma is so alone, or will we only move forward to seeing her connect? Will the past of that Supercub come back to haunt her? This feels like an anime that can and will absolutely wreck me, but at the starting line all I can say is I'm READY.
If you only watch one thing this season, watch Supercub.
Continuing anime:
My Hero Academia Season 5:
This season is interesting because for the first time, I think I'm going into it with almost zero spoilers (Dabi's real name is the only one I have). The only plot spoiler I thought I had, that Hawks was somehow working with the League of Villains, was revealed at the end of episode 1. I really enjoy going into things blind so I'm looking forward to this season!
However, the OP is the most disappointing thing out there. Nothing about the song, animation or composition is memorable or even noteworthy. Bones and MHA have access to all the money and talent in the industry and they best they can do is "Fine, I guess".
Yuukoku no Moriarty season 2 (Split cour):
I really enjoyed Moriarty's first season, but the second part of a split-cour always has the risk of running off the rails. What I enjoyed most about the first cour was the reverse-whodunit formula: Here's a terrible noble and the people they hurt, how does Moriarty get rid of them while making it look like an accident? The end of cour 1 started to focus heavily on Sherlock and I don't want the show's namesake to end up sidelined.
Knowing Irene was coming, I was really hoping for a Scandal in Belgravia that follows the books...at all, where the end of the story is that Irene escapes with the photo (except this time aided by the Moriarty brothers). Few or no Sherlock adaptations actually want to engage with the sexism of the era or today's, and just want to paint her as a blackmailer or temptress instead of a woman holding onto the power to protect herself. The beginning was extremely promising, but that went off the rails pretty quick. I still haven't yet seen an adaptation of Irene Adler that I like.
Zombieland Saga: Revenge
I watch this show because it's fun and ridiculous, and I get to hear Mamoru Miyano having the time of his life in the recording booth. I love this show because it always ends up surprising me with its solid emotional backbone. It looks like this season is shaping up to be more of the same!
What blew me away was this episode was the first time I saw a CGI dance sequence that I LIKED. Ever. The characters used different mocap so they weren't eerily in sync, the song and dance itself was well made and supported by excellent camera direction and shot composition, there were 2D cuts to closeups of the dancers as well as audience, and they actually pushed facial expression!
It's a good time. Give it a shot.

sooooo moon knight finale innit? at the beginning i must say that sadly, this wasn't my favourite episode :(
it wasn't as bad as i feared though, difinitely better thannthis awful wandavision finale, so at least there's that. ofc spoilers under the cut. you have been warned
starting with the things i loved - relationship between marc and steven grew to be extremely wholesome and comforting. i love how visibly good they feel with each other and how they can cooperate e.g. in combat.
oscar isaac. that's it, you know what i mean.
i also loved layla, how strong she stayed and how she didn't let khonshu enslave her. her suit looks EPIC, not only it's pretty, but also it looks very comfortable. comparing it to, let's say, black widow from 2012 avengers, i appreciate how mcu changed over the years. although internet kind of spoiled one scene for me, the one when she says that she is an egyptian hero. someone told that it's basically just tokenism, and frankly, it is. i don't think we needed it, being violently put so deeply in our throats.
did you notice how khonshu said "i will release you both". BOTH. meaning marc and steven, but nothing when it comes to jake. touche, marvel. touche.
i also liked how marc was given a choice and how well he used it. he chose himself to be a better person, which was a nice turn for him. kind of a new beginnig one could say.
and, ummm, that's pretty much it, i'm afraid.
when it comes to what i disliked, first thing that striked my eye was how quickly written it was. what i mean is that it resembled me of how i often write my own stories. when i start, i write slowly, carefully, i savour small details, i like doing it. but when i'm close to the end i get tired, i just want to finish this, so i start rushing, don't pay attention to details and it's visibly worse than the rest. here i felt the same, especially at the end. i had a thought that it should've been about 10 minutes longer to close everything nicely. because what happened with layla? how are things between her and marc? what was the thing with the psych ward? too many questions without answers. and whereas i'm a huge fan of comics, which are very chaotic as well, a cinematic/tv experience is different, it should be different. it leaves much less space for understatements.
i also didn't like how neither marc nor steven acknowledged there is a 3rd alter. they saw a bunch of dead bodies and where like "that's weird, but nevermind!". there could've been 2 or 3 lines of dialogue, something simple like "marc, there must be another one" "ok, we'll get it sorted later, now there are more important things", and then something similiar in the flat like "ok, now we've got time, we need to go to a real psychiatrist". i know this would be a lot of telling instead of showing, but at least we would've got something.
next thing is jake himself. first of all: why spanish?? that's not important though, what i didn't like is that he was being hinted thorughout the entire show (e.g. in episode 1, there were 2 independent reflections in museum), and then we see him appear in the mid-credits scene. yeah, i am salty, because i was really hoping for something better than appearing only as a plot device, to get rid of unnecessary characters.
next thing: two cgi monters fighting each other. sigh. i don't think i have to explain, i'll just say that this was completely unnecessary and just wasted precious time.
and the last thing - the villain himself. i really like how harrow is shown not as a cynical persona, who just wants to hurt people. i totally bought that he was doing these terrible things, because he actually believed he was right. the rest though... i'm a fan of this trope of a villain with similar motivations to protagonists, but only when it's well executed. here it was just stated, that punishing people before they do something evil is bad, and that's basically it. one can even argue, that ammit was the one to be right - given that she knows everything, even the future, she is sure that person A does something evil, right? she sees that it's certain, correct? so why others have to suffer, why not punish before? i'm not saying that i agree with that, i don't, but there can be seen some logic in that thinking. i also didn't like how harrow himself ended. first he was knocked out off-screen, then there were some spells (honestly, it was that easy? and it hadn't been possible earlier?), he's in a hospital, and then BAM he's killed in the mid-credits scene. it felt like they didn't know what else to do, and just decided to get rid of him as quickly as possible.
and that's it.
this seems long and complicated, but when you think of it, i only hated small details. that actually makes me even angrier, because it was so easy for this show to end great, to finally have a good marvel show from start to finish. so close, and yet so far.
well, gonna go watch daredevil again, and cry at the thought of how they will eventually massacre my boy.

Here we are again! maybe today I'll only watch one episode though, because I'm tired and I had a shitty day so I deserve to not suffer through two bad episodes
It took me one month, less than 30 days, to watch seasons 1-13
I watched 13 seasons
in one month
and it's been a month since then (almost, it'll be a month on the 12th) and I haven't been able to get through the two shortest seasons (if we don't count the author strike of s03)
anyways
*****
The flashbacks make me want to stop this and go watch something else
but we shall persevere!
I'm really glad I stopped watching when I did at the first episode of season 10, because if I had to wait a full week for this? I'd be fucking pissed
*****
they're under the dome, like in King's story
or in Harry Potter
well Rowena, that's a pessimistic outlook!
"we're all going to die" true
I like Sam and Dean's conversation through the eyes
"Give her your alcohol."
"I don't have any."
"Don't lie to me, I know you've got a flask."
"It's MY flask."
"Come on, give it to her."
"Argh, fine. Fuck."
*****
Cas talking with Belphegor is actually pretty interesting, give us more of that!
*****
some thoughts:
nevermind, I don't have time to think about anything because Belphegor my Beloved has an idea, with Lilith's crook, they can suck them all back to Hell
and now it's the vulvus spell! of course
I have seen the bloopers of this scene so many times
*****
I profoundly hate how the show turned into "here is a nonsense problem that has never happened before and no one should technically know how to fix it. oh, vut no! this one new mystical character --- nevermind that, Dean just decided Cas would go?! without asking?!
Dean what the fuck
*****
Wow Ketch sacrificed himself to save the Winchesters
maybe it's out of guilt for fucking their mom
*****
Belphegor you little shit, you're so mean
the cgi is so. fucking. bad.
how dare they get budget and make me watch these godawful things
*****
Okay, I paused on the text that Dean sent to Ketch
"Cass and Bel are going to hell. Rowena and San are doing a spell--I'm working on the Hellhole solo."
???? none of that looks like a genuine Dean text
Bel? he calls this demon they just met Bel?? and why would Dean text that whole thing out with the entire plan to Ketch? no way. he'd definitely just text like, their location, and tell hin to get their asap and then they'd explain when he got there
Also, I cannot imagine Dean texting full words with proper grammar
this is just so completely wrong
anyways, I have spent five minutes looking at this bullshit text, time to unpause
*****
wow, those sound effects are so shite
Belphegor wanted Castiel there for a reason, and I don't know what it is, but I'm guessing it's bad, or at the very least, questiona-- OH COME ON! YOU CUT AWAY RIGHT BEFORE CAS STARTS SINGING?!
that's not nice
*****
Ardat showed up and hurt my Cas 😠😭
Ah, there it is
he wants to rule Hell
I mean, if it gets the ghosts and demons away from Earth? then great!
//welp just had to take a 1.5h break because of family things, so now I should already be asleep, but I'm going to finish the episode
*****
Okay so it didn't work, it didn't close the gate, and Cas is punching Belphegor repeatedly, and he HE BURNED THE BODY WTF
Rowena's cutting her own heart out?? what
oh no she removed her hex bag thing
and now she's going to absorb the ghosts and demons herself? because she somehow knows a spell for that, mhm
that tracks
🙄😑
*****
So, Rowena needed Sam to be with her because he's the only one who can kill her
because of prophecy or whatever
Dean's angry at Cas and I understand but like, BITCH he's doing his best, stop fucking treating Cas like an enemy
this season so far is making me unship Destiel, wow congrats whoever wrote this shit
*****
so you're telling me she sucked billions of souls inside of her and she's just chilling there next to them, not exploding?!
mhm, that tracks
🙄😑
*****
At least now we know all we've got is Team Free Will, so we should be able to see more of Cas than we did in the last two episodes
*****
oh are we back at the Bunker? yeah, we are
oh right, they didn't know about Ketch
*****
"Why does that something always seem to be you." fuck you Dean
what the fuck
who wrote this
go fuck yourself
go fuck yourself
Cas knows he's in love with Dean
Cas knows he's in love with Dean, and he knows it will never be reciprocated
And he has to suffer through this... this indescribable bullshit Dean's got going on
"I think it's time for me to move on"
after 12 years
12 years, and Lilith, and the apocalypse, Michael and Lucifer, Crowley, the Leviathans, the tablets and prophets and Metatron, the angels falling, the Mark of Cain, Dean becoming a demon, the Alphas, the British Men of Letters, the nyphilim and Lucifer again, Apocalypse World, Nick and Apocalyspe!Michael, fighting God
a lifetime
thousands, possibly millions or even billions years old entity, an angel, who broke God's scripts and invented free will because what's fate in the name of Dean Winchester
who fell from Heaven, betrayed his kind, defied archangels and demons and creatures of all sorts
"I think it's time for me to move on." but how could he?
what is Castiel, who is he, if not Dean's?
he doesn't belong anywhere, not anymore, not for a long time
but by Dean's
I also swallow glass shards as a treat

An episode of supernatural you didn't like on your first watch but now you love it. why?
I feel like I have asked you this before. What are some of your favorite and least favorite character traits of Sam and Dean?
Good questions! To the first question, i didnt like Bugs originally. I hadnt been sold on the show yet and was put off by the very bad cgi and the stupid ending. However now i see a lot to love about it! Dean smacking Sam's ass, Sam smacking Dean's belly, some very bromantic dialogue too! It's really not a bad episode.
Part 2
My favorite character traits of Sam is his soft spokenness, his ability to forgive and look past what hurt him and ultimately how much he loves Dean.
My least favorite traits are his diet. Not that i think he has an eating disorder or that he shouldn't care about his body, but the food choices make him seem wimpy. A cooler full of smoothies, kale, snd veggie bacon is pretty OTT for a dude as big and strong as he is. He does eat meat and pizza still, which is good but if hes gonna have kale salad as a meal, I'm giving him the side eye. My other least favorite trait is how easy it is for him to lie to Dean. Im very glad thats something that didnt happen much in the late seasons.
My favorite Dean traits is his dorky boyishness and how he loves animals, bunnies seem to be a favorite of his lol. Also, how much he loves Sam!
My least favorite is how sloppily he eats! Im fine with him eating a lot, but theres no need to get it all over his face and falling out of his mouth, gross! I don't like how he used to punch Sam for no good reason, or how easy it is for him to lie to him. Again, I'm glad this was much less in the late seasons.
I love these boys with my very soul, but not everything about them 😉

ep1: okay. huh. interesting. this was good?
the art was actually gorgeous. the backgrounds and landscapes and villages are richly detailed and atmospheric, moreso than in the drama, which sometimes had a bit of a cheap look in the set and costumes. I don't like a lot of the animation - I dislike how things move with cgi in general - but the op is beautiful
the tone was consistent and engaging, both visually and in terms of music and action. this is such a fucking relief because a big issue in cql was that the tone was all over the place
I didn't love the music because I'm not really into music but it was fitting for the scene it was in
every visual adaptation of this story has the unenviable task of presenting the first scene in a way that's engaging, not too confusing, and enjoyable, but also in a way that imparts a whole lot of information about the character's background and the worldbuilding
I almost wondered if this might have been a mistake on the part of the author to try to jam in so much crucial information at the very start of the story, but it reads a lot more smoothly than it's been adapted in either show, and it doesn't seem to have hurt readership. I mean, I really liked how it opened in the novel. it was unique, definitely ambitious, and I do think it paid off, it's just hard to adapt into a show where everything has to be verbalized naturally or shown on screen
regardless, this intro is so much more coherent than the one in cql. this mini-arc has never been my favorite (in fact, it's probably my least favorite given the misogyny and my low investment in the mxy disguise, the mos, the modern-day plot, and the juniors, relatively speaking) but they put a lot of effort into making it faithful to the book while putting their own spin on it. and it's fun! the action scenes dragged a bit for me but overall it was done really well - I love that they included little details like protection wards sewn into lan clothes
and they just explain things! they just explain what's going on and what they're doing! out loud! can you believe?? it's that easy???? hmmm??? my first time watching cql I was googling so much...that was a rough opener and not a great first episode, but the intro at nightless city interested me enough to stay watching. but literally they did not explain SHIT
half of my "novel details and explanations" posts could probably be covered by watching the donghua. cql is so long and came after the donhua there is NO excuse to make things this confusing for potential watchers unfamiliar with the novel! (did they assume their audience would be mostly novel fans??? then why did they change so much?? did censorship restrict cql more than the donghua???)
character-wise, wwx is naturally a lot closer to his novel counterpart than the drama was. he's careless, easily amused, a troublemaker, not afraid to make a fool of himself, cut losse from any of his former commitments, loves alcohol. grabbing a bottle while chasing mo ziyuan was a nice touch. he does edge into annoying gremlin XD territory but that's almost counterbalanced by his darker moments of necromancy. almost
but really, this is a spot-on rendition of novel wwx
they gave a lot more personality to little apple, funnily enough, though not quite the personality she had in the book. (also, can donkeys gallop?)
I wasn't revolted by the character designs <3 in fact some of them looked okay! I really dislike the juniors' designs (what are those white paper-looking things on their headpieces?) but I'm almost used to wwx at this point. even if some of his expressions suck
I saw lwj at the end there and it's like. oh he's a tree with a tiny head huh. okay. that bothers me more than the yellow eyes at this point
his opening was very impressive otherwise. I loved how the power of the guqin was conveyed through the music and animation!
lsz's voice is also a bit deep but that may be because I'm used to the drama
it was a very clear and cohesive opener, all things considered. as a first-time watcher, I don't know how invested I would be in this annoying guy but I definitely would have been able to follow the action, realize when wwx was acting up his facade and when he was helping the kids, and figure out his backstory and what his deal is with the lans.
well the very first opener with the yllz was a tad confusing. I think having the kids listen to a story was a really good intro for cql to implement (was that in the novel? I'll find out soon I guess
I don't know if I'm enjoying this but it's better than I expected and it's a remarkable relief to watch a loyal adaptation
honestly if the donghua was so loyal I don't understand why fans were so upset with the drama doing its own thing. the novel story has already been told on screen, they want it to be told again? with less of a special effects budget? no I think they made the right choice to tell a more character-centered story
having wwx not remember lwj until he starts worrying about lwj finding him...I wonder how that's going to play out for the romance. making them close friends in the flashback really helped cql because they couldn't be explicit about the ending so idk how well the donghua can communicate a novel-accurate romance without being explicit
okay enough procrastination it's time to watch the donghua
#I haven't seen the drama or read the novel in a while so I may be misremembering things#but I think it's neat how this came before the drama. like the drama's older cousin or something#not based on each other but on a common source material. like in taxonomy#I don't think that happens too much because live action adaptations of things with an animated show are usually anime/manga#and they are usually bad#so I don't watch them#mdzs donghua lb
