Guest Star Allies : Alternate Endings

These illustrations (and descriptions) were done back in 2021. A lot of crazy stuff has happened since then, so these are incredibly outdated and kinda bad! However this was a monumental project I've tackled, and I wanted to make these public again (they used to be on DeviantArt). I'm also HEAVILY overdue on migrating my artwork onto here...

Dedede (& Bandee) in: Having a Nightmare

Backstory:

Somehow, presumably due to past experiences of possession, the King was able to regain control of himself when he briefly fell influence to the dark hearts. Unlike another timeline, the hero of this story never was blessed with the heart of friendship… With his orange loyal servant, he goes on a quest to find out where these evil hearts come from. On their way, they encounter the Mage Sisters. With a bit of imprisonment, interrogation, and eventual chance of redemption, the duo finds the source of the hearts.

Once at the source, it turns out Hyness had other plans. It's unknown why, but the leader felt greatly inspired to NOT reform the Jamba heart. Rather, he felt an unusual need to revive a fallen wizard, perhaps one that can better accelerate his initial plan. Unfortunately, the king interrupted the ritual and knocked Hyness out… yet the ritual still succeeded, and a nightmare was reborn.

Epilogue:

Meanwhile, back on Popstar, Kirby finally wakes from his lengthy nap. He is unaware of the events that've occurred during his dreams. As for the whereabouts of Meta Knight, while initially requested to join in on the venture, he declined for reasons unknown. As for the fate of the mages, they're doing fine… yet they all feel that something is missing…

Meta knight in: The Greatest Warrior

Backstory:

The Jamba Heart's pieces were scattered across the galaxy, with some individuals falling victim to the dark hearts. MetaKnight, by a miracle, was blessed with the heart of friendship. Now he must go on a quest to find out the cause of this great issue. Although the heart of friendship allows the user to "ally" with foes, the knight rarely utilizes this power, he reserves it for individuals with combat experience. He has attempted to recruit the Mage Sisters after their second battles, but while they gave up on helping Hyness, they refused to come along.

Once at the source, turns out Hyness had other plans. Perhaps the mess was too frustrating to deal with, as he ditched the Jamba Heart plan completely. Instead, he has begun a ritual to summon the strongest warrior of the Galaxy. Although the leader was swiftly taken out, the ritual still succeeded in summoning this warrior. Just as the battle was about to begin, however, a butterfly gently flies into scene. The great knight, seemingly tired of being brought into different dimensions and timelines, swiftly sliced up the insect. However, the remains of the butterfly scattered like embers, which quickly fused into Galacta Knight. With the powers of this insect, the knight has surpassed their title of 'strongest warrior of the galaxy'.

Epilogue:

Kirby has woken from his sleep when the Jamba Heart exploded, however he was one of the unfortunate victims to be cursed with a dark heart. Fortunately, he seems to be the least affected by this curse, unfortunately the heart has made him quite lazy. While the mages initially gave up on helping Hyness, his defeat at the hands of Meta Knight have re-ignited their loyalty. The Knight must watch out, for he has incurred the wrath of the Mage Sisters.

Rick, Kine, & Coo in: Darkness Returns

Backstory:

When the Jamba heart broke, hearts of friendship and darkness scattered across the galaxy. While some have fell victim to dark hearts, others have been blessed with hearts of friendship. A trio of animals were some that have been in contact with such pieces. For reasons unknown, the heart has induced an unusual effect where all the animals have been fused as a single entity, yet they can transform to their individual forms at will. Now, they must go on a quest to find out where these hearts are coming from, and why. Although the Mage Sisters have landed on Popstar, they didn't seem to find many jamba hearts, and so they returned back to the Divine Terminus.

Unbeknownst to them, however, the animal buddies have stowawayed in the shuttle. Once at the source, turns out Hyness had changed his plans. Although the Jamba heart was incomplete, it still had the power to create a being of darkness… or perhaps revive a being of darkness. The Animal Buddies peek behind the scene. With the assistance of the Mage Sisters, the cult conducted a summoning ritual with the incomplete heart. It shatters into pieces, the explosion blows the cult out of the area, leaving only the animal buddies and a matter of pure darkness. It dons its cloak and pulls out its sword, ready to challenge the animal buddies head on.

Epilogue:

Kirby may have been blessed with the heart of friendship and rescued Dedede and Meta Knight, but the effort of saving his friends have taken longer than usual, thus they couldn't reach the mage's shuttle in time. As for the fates of the cult, while they have survived the explosion, they're still continuing their plan of rebuilding the Jamba Heart… perhaps this time with more hearts and better security. Maybe they've missed out some hearts on Pop Star…

Marx in: A Change of Soul

Backstory:

Having survived the Nova's explosion, Marx starts up a new scheme within the planet he once planned to conquer. One day, hearts of friendship and darkness scattered across the galaxy. Curious on the source of these hearts, he goes on a journey to locate it. Somehow, these hearts remind him of a great wish making power, which further motivated him on his journeys. When he encountered the mage sisters, he convinced them to take him to the source of the hearts. Marx being Marx, he quickly betrays the mages, who turn out to be far easier to beat than Kirby.

Once at the source, it turns out Hyness only started to rebuild the Jamba Heart. After defeating this cultist, Marx got really excited on the potential of this incomplete heart. However, this excitement awakened something within him, and quickly all of his negative energy escaped from his body. This negative manifestation of the jester had been called forth by the heart's aura, and plans to continue what Hyness wanted. However, as Marx only has positive energy within him, he opposes his evil self's plan. Sensing defiance within his positive self, the evil clone begins to attack. Now, Marx must battle his own inner demon

Epilogue:

Kirby, Dedede, and Meta Knight someway somehow weren't impacted by the Jamba Heart's explosion. They've resumed their daily lives, and although the Mage's shuttle noisily landed on the planet, the group didn't have enough time to realize the severity of the situation. The Mage Sisters barely survived Marx's betrayal, and with their leader nowhere to be seen, they begin a new plan: revenge. They will never know that Marx has changed for the better, but hopefully the jester goes easy on them…

Gooey in: Revelations

Backstory:

Gooey questions his existence, he wonders where he came from. He knew he came from somewhere, but where? When the Jamba Heart scattered, the aura of the Dark hearts reignited bad memories within him. Could this be the answer? Curious, Gooey goes on a quest to locate the source of all these hearts. Actually, the quest is more of aimlessly flying around until he eventually hits something. He never saved the King or Knight from the dark hearts (Although it took a while until Kirby woke up from his overslept nap for them to be freed), he never met the Mages. The thought of his origin was all that he cared about.

Once at the source, it seems as though Hyness' plans have changed slightly. With the fully rebuilt Jamba heart, he summons a being of pure darkness. Brought back into existence, the being payed the leader kindly… by ending his miserable life. Upon noticing the blue two-eyed blob, the dark entity known as Zero felt intense rage at the sight of this traitor. Now, Gooey will have to fight the very being that created him…

Epilogue (Special):

The Mage Sisters are devastated with the loss of Hyness. Francisca and Flamberge, though, eventually felt a silent sense of relief as they no longer are mistreated by an insane cultist. Zan, unfortunately, didn't take the loss well. She's gotten more psychotic that day, which convinced the other mage sisters to disband from the cult. Their whereabouts are unknown, but hopefully they're having a good time together. As for Zan, let's hope that she too can feel relieved. Regarding Gooey, he has returned to Popstar doing what he does best… living life. Although having remembered his origins, it's starting to get harder to relax. Thankfully, a new friend is there to comfort him.

Adeleine & Ribbon in: Trauma Reborn

Backstory:

Ado was enjoying her time on Ripple Star, when suddenly hearts of darkness landed on the planet. Ribbon and Ado, having remembered their experience with darkness (and Ado having to relive her trauma when fighting the possessed), decided to go back to Popstar and get Kirby. Unfortunately, Kirby was nowhere to be found, and with the arrival of an unusual space craft, the duo had no choice but to do this alone. Their motivation to find the source of hearts only grew once they've encountered the Mage Sisters, who were too loyal to their cause to even be reasoned with. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that they were children, but either way, they sent the Mage Sisters to be locked up in Ripple Star.

Once at the Divine Terminus, turns out Hyness slightly changed his plans. With the fully rebuilt Jamba heart, he summons a being of pure darkness. Its massive wingspan, however, knocked the leader out of the scene. At first, the duo were felt with great dread and fear… but courage and determination quickly overcame that. Now, it's up to a pair of kids to defeat the reborn angel named Zero

To the relief of everyone, Kirby has been found… in a world of clay. Apparently, he wanted to meet up with old friends that day. When Zero was defeated, a celebration was held on Ripple Star, where Ado, Ribbon, Vividria, and Kirby's Clay friends had a nice discussion with each other. The Mages were released from prison some time later, but Francisca and Flamberge stayed on the planet, seemingly enjoying the place. Amazingly, Hyness surived the fall, although the injury from it seemed to have changed him greatly. He's forgotten his plan, and seemed to be more… sane? He and Zan return to Ripple Star, retiring their evil plans in the process.

Dark Meta Knight in: The Greater Of Evils

Backstory (The worst IMO):

Dark MetaKnight may have been exiled in a Mirror now shattered by a king, but his rage was just enough to rebuild that mirror. Now free in the regular dimension, the Knight goes on a bloody revenge spree. The explosion of the Jamba Heart didn't seem significant to the knight at first, but seeing how the dark hearts power those it possesses, the knight directs his genocidal path towards the source of the hearts. On his way, he overthrew the king, and finished off his counterpart for good. Kirby never woke up, and the blood knight made sure that he never will.

When the Mage Sisters arrived on Popstar, his use of brutality and psychological torture gave him a major clue as to where these hearts come from. Although the red mage was promised mercy for her "sisters" if she told the knight of the Divine Terminus, the knight quickly broke that promise once they reached the giant spacecraft. With Hyness out of the picture, the knight begins to amplify his killing spree. Unfortunately, his intense negativity manifested into its own entity, which then uses the Jamba heart to create a being of pure darkness… or is it pure light? Either way, now 2 evils must battle it out.

Epilogue (Special):

For reasons unknown, the red mage was the only mage (or really, only member) to be spared during the Terminus genocide. Drifting away in a crumbling escape pod, she crash lands on a heart shaped planet. Turns out the residents, including survivors from Popstar, are planning a rebellion against this blood knight. Having nothing left to lose, she joins with them, hopefully ending this reign of terror once and for all.

Daroach in: The Rat King

Backstory:

Daroach had noticed a shower of dark hearts. These hearts reminded him of a rumor, supposedly merging these hearts together will give one great power. Unbeknownst to him, he has also been blessed with the heart of friendship, which grants him immunity to the dark heart's influence. Now, the Squeak Squad go on a quest to collect as many dark hearts as possible. Their encounter with the mages was a great tip off as to where these hearts come from, and how to use them. While the mages were initially given a chance of redemption, they refused… but because of their valuable knowledge to the treasure they seek, for the time being they're held captive.

Once at the Divine Terminus, they effortlessly take care of Hyness… who they also capture for some reason, surely the cult has a worthy bounty. With the Jamba heart at their fingertips, they start devising a plan on what to use it for… unfortunately, the negative energy within the squeak squad quickly were extracted from their bodies. The Jamba heart has disappeared, and in its place, a star-shaped mass of familiar yet disgusting pests

Epilogue:

It seems as though the battle have changed the Squeaks' personalities. They release the cult and provided them treasure as an apology gift. The squad flies out, now embarking on their mission to seemingly undo their wrongs. Now that essentially all the dark hearts have been destroyed, the cult's plan of summoning the dark entity has been scrapped. However, turns out this treasure was a bundle of friendship hearts. The Squeaks prior to the fight believed that the friend hearts were weak in power, but kept them anyways because they surely were worth something.

Unfazed by the positivity of friend hearts, the cult start a new plan: dimensional travel. Sure, THEIR dimension is out of dark hearts, but there are other dimensions just RIPE with them. However, Hyness and the mages were separated when they commenced their dimensional ritual with the friend hearts. These hearts also have been separated within this unusual limbo. For the brief period of time of entering this dimension, the cult was overcome with an extreme rush of negative energy, greatly powering and corrupting them. Meanwhile, Kirby and co arrive to the Divine Terminus to find random wormholes strewn about…

Taranza in: The Last Hope

Backstory:

Ever since the loss of the person he loved most, Taranza constantly looks for ways to bring her back. Days and nights of research, clues and dead ends. One day, he came across knowledge of a heart, one that would supposedly grant wishes of sorts. What a coincidental finding, because after that, the Jamba heart exploded, scattering dark hearts over PopStar. Further experiments with those collected have shown that these hearts hold some sort of power, and the arrival of the Mage's spacecraft warranted further investigation. Somehow, he convinced the mages that he would help them collect the fallen heart pieces, and along the way confirmed the existence of the Jamba Heart. There must be something about his character, because the Mages seemed to have also been convinced to give up their mission entirely.

Once at the Divine Terminus, turns out Hyness didn't want to use this power for good… so Taranza just webs him up and begins the ritual with the Jamba Heart. The ritual was a success… sort of. Turns out, the heart's influence in its power is determined by the balance of friendship and darkness… and most of the hearts collected were of negative energy. As a result, although he was able to bring back his love, she is just a vessel for pure hate, with no ability to love or care… Will his kindness be enough to bring her back completely?

Epilogue:

Floralia was a giant umbrella for the residents of Pop Star, who never saw any Jamba Hearts land on their world. As a result, the hero of Dreamland never began his journey. When the Mages returned to the Divine Terminus, they only found Hyness, still stuck in the webbing. Taranza and the summoned entity are gone without a trace. Has he succeeded? Has he failed? It's not known, but hopefully he's together again with the one he loves most…

Magolor in: Crowned Sins

Backstory (2nd worst IMO, also OUTDATED!!!):

Not much is known on the whereabouts of Magolor. He was presumed dead after the fateful battle over an ancient artifact, but perhaps he simply teleported elsewhere. Either way, the dark hearts have lead him to the Divine Terminus. Is he still the traitorous scum that he was, or has he changed his ways? It's hard to tell, especially since he was able to sneak into the site where Hyness failed his ritual. In the room of the supposed Jamba Heart, the leader of the cult is nowhere to be seen. He must've went along with the Mages to find the rest of the pieces. Magolor, being an ancient himself, starts to conduct a ritual. When it was complete, a crown was manifested… unfortunately, the egg could not use this artifact, as the crown gravitated towards the partially depleted Jamba Heart, which melted into a white mass. The crown then takes the form of a familiar shape, and now it's up to Magolor to pay for his sins.

Epilogue:

Without the heart, the cult's mission has failed. However, Hyness had other plans. As he starts his ritual, he calls forth the strongest warrior in the Galaxy. Pop Star miraculously wasn't hit by the rain of hearts when the Jamba Heart exploded. However, this ritual seems to have brought in the attention of a hero of sorts. Their description is vague and inconsistent, the hero may be a hammer weilder, an artistic witch, a chef, anyone really. Either way, they're quickly approaching the Divine Terminus, getting tougher, faster, stronger. Regarding the fate of the blue intruder, once again he seems to have dissapeared. Strangely though, it's been discovered that he's been responsible for the creation of some popular (but now defunct) theme parks prior to the Jamba Heart's explosion. Also, ever since this recent dissapearance, there's been reports of a merchant donning an oddly familiar white and green attire… but it's difficult to confirm if they are related to the blue ancient.

Susie in: Dreams Further Than Stars

Backstory:

Readings indicated of negative energy suddenly showing up across the galaxy, alongside the epicenter of the event. Seeing this as a liability to her business, Susie starts a program to gather/remove all the Jamba Hearts in the galaxy. She returns to Popstar to recruit her prized knight, who fell influence to the dark heart. Kirby was initially the first to be recruited, but he was unable to be located, even with advanced scanning and everything. When the Mage Sister's space craft landed on Pop Star, Susie struck a deal with them to collect the dark hearts. With scanning on their spacecraft, and further discussion with the Mages, turns out these dark hearts will be used for the Jamba Heart, which supposedly shares wish granting properties like [[redacted]]. The mages have gained such a great amount of respect with Susie that they've started to question their loyalty towards Hyness.

Attempts of negotiating with Hyness regarding the Jamba Heart failed, and the mad cultist retaliated violently, so Susie just shoots him there. With Hyness out of the way, and upgrading the Jamba heart with components related to [[redacted]], Susie starts making her wish… Unfortunately, the heart gained sentience and started to attack. It utilized its surroundings to build a more… suitable form. Whatever wish Susie had, probably won't be possible either way…

Epilogue:

Note: Hyness has been shot with paralysis, which is nonfatal. He has been returned to the mages, and is paid in compensation for that unfortunate event. Mecha Knight, once again, has gone rogue. The incident regarding the Jamba Heart bears great similarity to the incident with [[redacted]]. Note that [[redacted]] has nearly resulted in universal extinction, with its utilization for the heart bringing in such a great amount of negative press that the Haltmann Works Co. has been reduced considerably. Further remnants of [[redacted]] have been destroyed, as to prevent any more incidents involving it to happen. As for the individual named Kirby, he has returned to PopStar. He was last seen with entities donning overalls, green tunics, powered battle armor, and others. Meanwhile, Susie lives in exile on the Star-shaped planet, where she will now do considerable self reflecting.

[FINALE] The Three Mage Sisters in: The Beginnings of Endings

"Journey For The Dark Hearts". Originally Created on (January 27, 2022)

Backstory:

Hyness' plan with the Jamba Heart failed as the heart shatters across the galaxy. Unbeknownst to the cult, this explosion had a rippling effect throughout the galaxy, perhaps in a way that bends reality and dimension. The mages start their quest of recollecting the pieces, and on their way they encounter some… oddities. Somehow, entities from parallel worlds were being brought into their world, entities of great power. Just as unusual, there were an abnormal amount of jamba cult members in every part of the galaxy, members that seem to be aggressive towards the mages. After gathering the hearts, they return to the ritual site, which is now in shambles. Hyness must've changed his plans while the mages were away, but it's unknown why he would change his mind mid-way through. Unfortunately, he's absent… In his place, seemingly waiting for the mages to arrive, is the messenger of death itself. Will they triumph, or will they fall with Hyness?

Epilogue:

It's unknown how helpers were able to break into the Divine Terminus, or why individuals such as Adeline (a mere child) would even get this far, but what's known is that they're incredibly powerful. It seems as though not only were friend hearts and dark hearts spread around, but also hearts of enhancement. Only in certain timelines were these hearts found, others lacked them completely. It's unknown why the embodiment of death manifests in these alternate timelines, perhaps the heroes of those stories just weren't meant to be, perhaps it was a test to see how this story could go on. Either way, the result stays the same: the hero succeeds, and life moves on. As for the fates of these mages, it seems as though things have returned to normal, back to where it all started in the beginning. However, that Jamba heart not only looks completed, but seems to be more powerful than usual… Could this be the plan of summoning the TRUE destroyer of worlds?

Splitting of timelines are not unusual, because they're so infrequent and minor in difference. In a couple of timelines, a Blue knight saved the world instead of the Pink Hero. In another, a great King set out to overthrow the corrupt Queen in the skies. In these varying times, the villains of the modified story are even more intense than before. However, the Jamba Heart situation was a great exception, with dozens and dozens of branches suddenly appearing after its explosion. Some more drastic than others...

Ethereal and coldwave was difficult to me to think what i associate of, so i just slap some pixel "waves" or some abstract but ethereal background. Coldwave is just black and white since most of coldwave albums i see is minimal.

Anarcho-Goth - not really a genre but there are actually goth bands that also have anarchist tendencies (like Anarcho-Punk but well.. goth). Anarcho goth usually have a deathrock sound (especially with modern deathrock bands). Examples: Horror Vacui, Rudimentary Peni, Christ vs Warhol

Goth rock (i.e. Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephelim, The Merry Thoughts)

etiquette for using & crediting art

right, well, I'll get straight to it instead of messing about like in my other tutorials. editblr has a serious problem with people not crediting artists, we all know that, I don't need to talk much about it. but I figured instead of just making one of those posts, I'd make one explaining the etiquette for such things and how you can appropriately use fanart in your edits. oh, and also what could happen if you refuse to offer those credits

alright, cool, let's talk about it

— stop letting them use your shit to train ai models

if you've been on tumblr for a bit, or have just gone through the general settings, you'll probably have noticed that in the visibility tab there's this not-so-fun setting automatically turned off:

yeah. that's fun, isn't it? since you're using fanart, and most artists don't support nor engage with ai, it's basic respect to opt out of such a thing.

settings -> visibility -> bottom option

— why credit is important, and what lack of credit could potentially do to your account

I feel I shouldn't necessarily have to explain why credit is important, but I will anyway. in the plainest terms, they made it, it's theirs, so credit them. it's a simple concept, no? hm, but I know that doesn't sound important to some people, so imagine if someone stole your edits and reuploaded them onto their own blog, but in the caption all it says is "idk who made this originally, sorry" or "credits to artist".. I bet you'd feel pretty pissed off about it, right? your hard work being stolen by someone you've never heard of, who didn't even bother putting in the effort to search for you.

another thing: credit is still important when they're a figurehead in the community you're editing for. yes, their artstyle may be familiar to you and the others in your fandom, but to an outsider it's just another piece of fanart that remains uncredited.

if you use art that doesn't belong to you, and the original artist finds it and doesn't want you using it, you could face a takedown. of course, most artists are kind and would send you a polite notice first, but there's always that chance they could send over a takedown request to your post and therefore your blog with zero warning. three of those, your blog gets deleted. they're incredibly easy to send off, and afaik tumblr gets to them pretty quickly.

oh, and also people typically don't look favourably on those who can't be bothered to credit artists, so you'll end up losing connections with other editors as well, if you care about that.

— how to source your fanart

stay away from pinterest. I cannot stress this enough, I understand that pinterest is by far one of the easiest platforms to find fantastic art on, but having proper credits is more important than the 5 minutes of time shaved off by stealing a reupload.

twitter, instagram, tumblr, pixiv, and deviantart are all good places to search. though, do make sure to check for ai on deviantart especially, it's like a rat infestation over there.

— how to differentiate fanart from official art

fandom wiki. I know, we all hate fandom wiki, but whether your media is popular or unpopular it's likely to have a fandom wiki dedicated to it, and people will archive all official art there. if you're unsure, cross-examine the potential fanart piece with the archive.

if you hate fandom wiki that badly, there's also archival accounts scattered across different platforms, so you can use those.

if the art is official, then for company-ran medias it's normally okay to just add "all art is official" or leave it uncredited; though that's also somewhat of a dick move. but for smaller things like web-comics and games that aren't hosted on any big site, and have no huge monetary support, it's nice to include the name of the artist and/or creator.

— how to find credits for art blatantly stolen and reuploaded to pinterest when all the caption says is "credit to the artist!"

reverse image search, that's my simplest answer. with chrome at least, it comes with a built-in reverse image searcher called google lens. it's normally highly efficient, so for most art pieces it'll pick up on the artist pretty quickly.

but what if it doesn't? what if it just links back to the original pinterest post instead? well, the weird thing about google lens in particular is that it initially retrieves one post it thinks it could originate from—probably the post with the most traffic going to it, but it then also features a "see exact matches" option underneath that first photo.

if you click it, it'll show you a whole lot more examples of the art being used.

normally, you can use that to figure out who made the art, since it'll show you similarly popular recorded instances. however, there are also times when even that fails to grab a source, and you're left only with confusing results. what do you do then?

well, you can either resort to clicking on random sites until you find a username, or you can give up and find a different piece of art to use. it's really just a process of rinse and repeat until you find something usable.

— knowing and understanding artist boundaries

artist boundaries are typically easy to see and simple to understand. they're normally just in the bios of the artists, which is super helpful. however, sometimes they're kept within links placed on the accounts instead. if you can't immediately see a list of boundaries, then instead start looking for (typically) a link to one of these sites:

strawpage

lit.link

skeb (though skeb can sometimes block itself if you have parental controls on, so be aware of this)

scour through them, and you should get an understanding.

right, and for artists who have bios in foreign languages; just translate it, it's not as if google translate or deepl are impossible to use. not knowing the language isn't an excuse anymore.

however, if they still don't have one available, you might have to start searching keywords on their accounts. of course, such things aren't really possible on da or instagram, but on tumblr and twitter, search up these keywords before giving up on an art piece:

pfp / icon / profile picture

use

your art

on tumblr especially, most asks are tagged with something or other, so you can scroll through and check to see if there's anything there too.

and if there's still nothing.. well, just ask the artist about it. if you don't want to do that, then it's not a good idea to use it, and it's back to the drawing board for you.

— how to give appropriate credit

by including "art credit - (username)" in the description, ordinarily. however, you should note that most people who use rentry graphics don't care for art credits, and won't include them if they're using said graphics. so, that's why you put a watermark on it, so it's basically like forcing credit to be given. it doesn't have to be anything big or flashy, but it does need to be readable, so simple fonts work well.

oh, and ideally there should be a direct link back to the art piece, so if people want to use it also they don't have to scroll through someone's entire account trying to find it.

anyway, hope that helped somewhat. if it didn't, then pop into my askbox and I'll explain things further.

they're lil' stylized full-body portraits with transparent backgrounds, clean lineart and flatcolors :'3c i just posted the examples separately, you can check them out [here]!! they have their own queue, like doodles, but function the same as regular orders in terms of feedback and client updates– the different queue is just because pagedolls are faster to complete, and therefore it'd be nice if they didn't take regular-order-slots instead :')c no limit of orders per person, but i will be working on those 2 at a time c':

speaking of full-body, from here on all commission options offer full-body portraits, replacing knee-up!! i feel more confident with my art now to tackle full-body stuff :') with this, i went and changed the nomenclature of shoulder/waist/knee-up to just bust/half-body/full-body, which i reckon better suits how i tend to go about where to cut off portraits (uh... ribcage/mid-thigh/mid-calf-up x"Dc)

this time i'll be (once again) working on a reduced amount of slots for regular orders (doodles and pagedolls exempt!), in an effort to finish things up in a more timely manner by focusing on a smaller amount of orders, and to then open new batches more often (since the last one was over a year ago). this time around, there will be a total of 12 slots for regular orders: 3 active slots that i'll be getting started on right away on monday, and then another 9 waiting in queue c: again, no deadline for those!!

since it's a small number of slots, regular orders slots are limited to two per person!! so that folks have a good chance of getting a slot :')c and given how it's just 3 active slots, i'll be working on multiple orders one at a time c':

doodles and pagedolls do not have those limits, and i'll just go about finishing them up as i can c: six doodles at a time, and two pagedolls at a time as well, but their respective queues have no slot limit, and folks can order as many as they want at once :3c

in a different note, over the course of the year, i've gone from using Paint Tool SAI to drawing and painting on Rebelle 7 instead, and have since acclimated well enough to continue commission work with no issue– i can now send the finalized files at better resolution too :"Dc yey nanopixel :3c

which reminds me, icons are now sized 1000px square insted of 800px!! minor change but still noteworthy x')c

lastly, cases in which no sketch presented is suitable, and no amount of editing said sketch can help its approval and the client would rather a new sketch be made, i can do so for a flat fee of 35% of the original order's price– this does not impact choosing between sketches and such, or my tendency towards working on more than one sketch for orders, or if the client has presented multiple sketch ideas for the same order :')c the modifications, big and small, of the sketch phase remain entirely part of the process and free of charge!! this is just in case an entirely new sketch is necessary, since the sketch portion of the process is usually the more complicated and time-consuming bit of the commission c': so, edge case, but it's a new thing added in and i want to make mention of it!!

other than that, prices have been updated, and there's been minor edits in wording for the sake of clarity in the terms on the [website], on the forms, and the descriptions of the options and extras c': i've also, as you may have noticed, updated all the examples on the info sheet and on the website to be past commissions!! some of which i have yet to post (orz on my way!!! ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ), but that you can see as well over on the commission-info-place :')c

Beast Wars: Second Chances - The Covers

wada sez: Okay, this one was as much a surprise to me as it is to you. Prolific Mosaic contributor Mike Priest asked me if I had any plans to archive Beast Wars: Second Chances, a full-length comic he originally pitched in a similar vein to War Journal and Spotlight: Stunticons. As nearly all the writers and artists who worked on this one were also Mosaic contributors, and I’ve always felt like there weren’t enough Beast Wars strips in Mosaic, and because Mike asked nicely, I couldn’t say no! Thanks to Mike’s involvement, I’ve got the original scripts and his original story treatment, titled Beast Wars: Beyond, which you can read below—although the final story ended up wildly different, if you want to read along without any spoilers whatsoever, I’d recommend coming back to this post later! It seems that Matt Frank was originally tapped for the project, as he produced a sketch of Dinobot which you can see below, but no further contributions from him ever surfaced.

Okay, this is my initial rough pitch for the story.

Again, anything and everything here is mutable and subject to tweaking and whatever, or downright ignoring and trashing.  I won’t cry.

We start roughly a month or two Earth-time after Primal’s crew left.  The first page should explain this and whatever, and then something akin to “BUT SOMETHING STILL STIRS on this planet!”  Cut to Depthcharge dragging himself out of the surf.

(I’m trying to work AROUND the Mosaic “Eternal”, making it more retroactively tied-in.)

We establish Waspinator as leader of the proto-human tribe, out on a hunt or something with some other humans.  Perhaps some brief proto-human comedy before we hit the nitty-gritty.

We establish Depthcharge wandering around, arguing with himself, totally nuts, screaming at no one in-particular (He’s arguing with Rampage, who only responds through text boxes, so to anyone else, DC looks like a nut).

Waspinator encounters Depthcharge, is initially scared and confused, but decides, what the hey, see what’s up with fishie-bot.  Waspinator honestly is curious/wants to help.

Depthcharge, in a confused, blind rage, grabs Waspinator and viciously beats him near to death.  And not in a funny, usual-Waspinator way.  He’s pleading, BEGGING for Depthcharge to stop.  I’m talking the reader needs to actually feel really bad for Waspinator; he is an endearing character and kind of our “hero” for this story.

Only when some of Waspinator’s human tribe start hitting Depthcharge with rocks and spears does he snap out of it, and is literally horrified at what’s he done to poor Waspinator. (Rampage is in ecstasy though; this is exactly what he wants to turn Depthcharge into; a killer like Rampage himself).

Depthcharge retreats, transforms to jet mode and flies off, horrified at what he’s become.

The proto-humans can’t do anything to help the dying, whimpering Waspinator.  So they make a stretcher and begin carrying him home.

Only they don’t make it.  Something attacks and kills them; Waspinator is too weak to help them.  And it takes Waspinator’s remains.  (Hints of a giant metal spider, perhaps in this sequence)

We establish Tarantulas.  Or rather an AI program that approximates Tarantulas’ personality and goals.  It is housed in a sub-level of Tarantulas’ former lair.  He “lives” through his Steel Tech proxy body, the (black and grey Transmetal Tarantulas), but he cannot particularly control it too well/or it really is just a poor substitute for a sparked body.

Tarantulas has a blank stasis pod that was affected by the Quantum Surge.  He plugs Waspinator’s spark into it.  And Transmetal Waspinator is born.  Waspinator comes back online strapped to a table, with the Steel Tech drone working on him (And Tarantulas’ face on a computer screen, establishing that he really is housed in his lair’s “hard drive”)

Tarantulas explains that he still has to accomplish the Tripredacus Council’s goals, even after death, and Waspinator is one of his new tools.

Faux-Tarantulas ALSO reveals that he has the bodies of Scorponok and Terrorsaur (both Transmetalized), which he recovered from the lava pit.  (TM Terrorsaur’s fine, but a new design for Transmetal Scorponok is essential.  NOT the McDonald’s toy design.  Make him larger and bulkier and his third mode should have flight capability- this is important for later)  

Fitting all three with “neural implants” that ensure obedience, Tarantulas explains he will use them to breach the Ark and carry out its destruction (His Steel Tech drone isn’t dexterous or durable enough to fight through the Ark’s automated defenses).

And Waspinator is a test subject.  Tarantulas releases him from his bonds and orders him to obey.  The neural implant holds, and Tarantulas decides to send Waspinator for a test-drive.  Waspinator speeds out of the lair in his new jet mode.

As he travels over the landscape, he is watched by someone new on the ground.  We don’t find out who it is YET.  Just a close up of a wide, toothy grin and an “Interesting”.

Meanwhile Depthcharge is having a nervous breakdown.  Rampage is slowly driving him insane, and Depthcharge starts repeatedly trying to kill himself.  It is MESSED UP, including Depthcharge throwing himself on his own sword, tearing bits off, and such.  But all the damage heals.  Exhausted and pained, Depthcharge suddenly becomes aware of a visitor watching him.

Cue DINOBOT II, standing arrogantly and grinning down on Depthcharge, telling him it won’t work.

Both Depthcharge and Rampage are surprised to see him.  Rampage particularly.

Meanwhile, Waspinator’s test-drive includes going back to his proto-human village and is ordered to raze it to the ground by Tarantulas.  But Waspy surprises Tarantulas (and the audience) by fighting the neural implant and eventually succeeding in burning it out, overcoming Tarantulas’ will by plumbing that can-do never-give-up Waspinator spirit and his genuine affection for the proto-humans.   Tarantulas is surprised by this, but notes he has back-ups anyway, activating Scorponok and Terrorsaur.

Back with Depthcharge and Dinobot, who, of note, acts somewhat uncharacteristically, giving half-answers and grinning a lot.  Rampage begins to suspect something is different or wrong with Dinobot.

Meanwhile, Scorponok and Terrorsaur are both activated and forced into line by the neural implants.  Terrorsaur is still his arrogant self, but Scorponok is more quiet and almost more professional (It’ll be seen/developed that he’s a bit disillusioned that Megatron never saw fit to recover him from the lava pit).  Anyway, as neither of them have any particular strong will to oppose the neural implant, they go to carry out Tarantulas’ orders to attack the Ark.

We establish the VOK, who realize the danger to the time stream is not yet over.  The two that “killed” Tarantulas decide to intervene.  They go to where Tigerhawk died and begin pulling his shattered pieces together with their powers.  (Tigerhawk would be dead, just a zombie shell animated by these Vok and while his body is whole, it is in horrendous shape, missing an optic, generally looking like a terrifying zombie).

Meanwhile Waspinator is speeding along, knowing somehow he has to go back and stop Tarantulas, when he sees Scorponok and Terrorsaur in their new Transmetal vehicle modes, headed in the Ark’s direction, along with Tarantulas‘ Steel Tech proxy body.  Waspinator isn’t particularly positive he can take both of them, even with his new body, so he decides to go look for “crazy fishie-bot” and hopes Depthcharge is somewhat more lucid now.

Back with Depthcharge and Dinobot, Rampage suddenly senses a familiarity between his own spark and Dinobot and realizes Dinobot’s shell is now possessed by STARSCREAM!

Guilty as charged, Dino-Scream shrugs.  He’s been stuck in this time zone for a while and returned to the planet, but everyone’s left now.  So he looked for the Nemesis (Hoping to find something there he can possess without damaging history) and found Dinobot II’s ravaged, sparkless shell.  Possessing that and healing its injuries, Starscream set out for the Ark next.

Before anything can be done, Waspinator finds them, telling them (as best as he can) about Tarantulas’ plan to destroy the Ark and what not.

Depthcharge and Starscream don’t want to be erased from history, so they agree to help (Rampage even finds it interesting).

Faux-Tarantulas, Scorponok and Terrorsaur arrive at the Ark, and the latter two fight their way through Teletraan-1’s automated defenses (which come out of “sleep mode”).  Faux-Tarantulas hangs back.

But by the time they make it through, Waspinator, Dino-Scream, and Depthcharge/Rampage arrive.

We have a three-on-three battle.  Scorponok fights Depthcharge/Rampage (Scorpy’s new Transmetal body is bigger than his old one and almost a match for Depthcharge, even with the new ferocity that Rampage’s presence in his mind gives him).  Scorponok angsts over his abandonment by Megatron while they fight.  Terrorsaur fights the groundbound Starscream/Dinobot II (Starscream grumbles that this body sucks cuz it can’t fly) and manages to actually hold it off, as Starscream is unaccustomed to fighting like this.

Waspinator faces off against the Steel Tech Drone, and despite some initial trepidation, realizes he’s far more powerful now than any drone and takes the faux-Tarantulas down easily once his confidence is up.

Meanwhile, the zombie Vok-possessed Tigerhawk arrives at Tarantulas’s lair, runs roughshod over the meager defenses, and destroys the Tarantulas’ hard drive/AI for good.

This causes the neural implants in Scorponok and Terrorsaur to fail, and they stop fighting now that they are no longer under Tarantulas’ will.

Confused at what is going on, everyone leaves the Ark.  The Vok-possessed zombie Tigerhawk arrives.

First order of business is noticing Dinobot II.  The Vok declare (The Transmetal II clone body) an “abomination” and perversion of their technology. (Starscream’s like “Whoa, wait a minute!”)

The Vok incinerate Dinobot II’s shell in a blast of lightning from Tigerhawk.  We don’t see what happens to Starscream’s spark.

The Vok explain that the constant interference with the timeline has TO STOP, and tells everyone to get the hell off the planet.

Of course, everyone is like “uh, HOW?”

The Vok tells everyone to go into Earth orbit.  They will self-destruct Tigerhawk’s remains, with the release of alien energies ripping a Transwarp wormhole that’ll send everyone back to the right era.

Everyone of course is like “But…how do we get home from the middle of space?”

And the Vok of course are like “We don’t care, you’re going back to your rightful place in history or we’ll just kill you here and dump you there”

So everyone engages flight modes and follows Zombie-Tigerhawk up into space.  They stand back and the Vok do as they promised, detonating Tigerhawk’s shell and making a wormhole.  Everyone flies through in a flash, the Vok take their leave with some end dialogue about cleaning up some more small glitches or whatever.

Everyone arrives in the middle of space, nowheresville.  Depthcharge isn’t hanging with these “Preds” anymore and “Besides, I’ve got enough company as it is”.  He flies off into the nothingness of space, deciding to either find a way to deal with living with Rampage…or destroying them both.

Waspinator and Scorponok get into an argument about which direction Cybertron is, which ends in Waspinator engaging his jet mode and flying off alone.  Scorponok sighs and goes in the opposite direction, asking if Terrorsaur is coming.

Terrorsaur (who hasn’t said a word since they left Earth) just widely grins and unseen to Scorponok, we see the ghost of Starscream possessing Terrorsaur’s frame.  “Sure thing, pal.”  He follows Scorponok.

Notes-

*Inferno and Quickstrike…well, seeing as Quickstrike’s head was hollowed out and made into a mask, I think they’re a little harder to swallow as still alive.

*I kinda tried to do the exact opposite of what the Botcon comics did…bring Tigerhawk back (albeit a Vok-possessed zombie) instead of Tigatron and Airazor.

*When the zombie Tigerhawk destroys the Tarantulas AI core, depending on preference, we can have him say “You last bit of Unicron” or some such, depending if everyone agrees on Tarantulas’s origins.

*I have Starscream possessing Dinobot’s shell and later Terrorsaur, trying to avoid the clichéd possessing of Transmetal Waspinator.

Plotting out "Everlasting" (Disney movie)

Welp, I hadn't planned on doing this before my hiatus started, but I may as well do as many as I can for now. Make sure to check out my summarized post on Part II of the Resurgence Era.

Background--A few years after the success of "Midnight Masquerade," Disney offers several projects to Ron Clements and John Musker. They jump at the chance when offered a story inspired by Pandora's box, having enjoyed exploring Greek culture in "Hercules." Originally, Yorgos Lathinmos was slated to be a director, but instead ended up being the screenwriter, with Disney wanting him due to his recent critical success in Hollywood and his Greek heritage "adding a sense of authenticity." To get in on the remaining hype of "Epic: The Musical," Jorge Rivera-Herrans is brought on to craft the songs. The story was tweaked many times (including contributions from Rick Riordan and Tina Fey, if the rumors are true), with the main concern being cultural accuracy and the proper tone of the film, with some feeling as though the film should be a mature, profound film on good and evil, while others felt like it should be more irreverent and parodying Greek mythology in a way similar to how "Shrek" parodied fairy tales. Eventually Disney was concerned that it was straying "too far" from what would be considered a classic Disney film, and several changes were made, including the protagonist having a love interest (controversial for the reason he was made). With the setting, Disney opts for Ancient Greek-adjacent; the land isn't explicitly called "Greece," but is very Greek-coded with names, architecture, and fashion, albeit not entirely accurate to the Ancient times--basically a step-up from "Hercules" (enough to please the culture it's based on, but still enough wiggle room). The story was originally much lengthier than could fit in a movie, so certain situations had to be cut, conflated with others, or sped through via montage. This included the concept of having seven evils in reference to the seven deadly sins, as seven antagonists was deemed too much for one movie. Also an abandoned concept was a theme of misguided colonialism, with the protagonist seeking to better the world in the way she saw fit and helping to expand her kingdom's empire while trying to eradicate evil. The theme proved too controversial, and the story couldn't find a way to portray it in a way that satisfied a cautious Disney, so it was dropped. And despite the urging from Disney to make the film 3D, the filmmakers push for it to be 2D, so they compromise, opting for a thicker, paint-like 2D art style (check out Lisa Keene's concept art for "Tangled"), and taking influence from Greek sculptures and pottery.

Plot

Once, there was a land that knew nothing of hardship, but one day a plague entered the country that could only be cured by unleashing evil into the world, a concept unheard of at the time. In the years that followed, the once glorious land fell into disarray, and it was not until more centuries had passed that a young woman vowed to rid the world of it's evil by finding the sources and shoving them back into the jar. But on her journey, she begins to question her journey as she contemplates the reason for evil within the world.

Characters

(As usual, this is not a comprehensive list of characters by any stretch of the imagination, but the main players you need to know. The images below would serve as inspiration for the characters' designs and/or personalities)

Pelagia--Almost like she came out of a book of legend, she is a driven hero with a strong sense of justice. The daughter of a magistrate, she was raised to uphold the law above all else, though when she soon ventures to search for the Jar of Despair, she finds that good and evil are subjective, and what is agreeable to her may not be agreeable to everyone else. And thus she must ask herself: is heroism inflexible, Is compassion conditional, and if everyone is capable of great evil, has she made poor decisions in order to bring about the greater good?

Chrysostomos--A flash of hope, the justification of all the wickedness in the world, he is the embodiment of the good that exists in spite of evil. A playful and casual divine creature, he is somewhat oblivious of the plight of mortals, as they exist "beneath a plane of existence" that he has accustomed himself to. However, as he begins to develop schoolboy-like feelings for Pelagia that he can't understand himself, he starts to become involved in her quest to rid the world of evil, even if that means that he himself may cease to exist as a result.

Damiani--The girl (now woman) who started it all. Upon opening the Jar of Despair, she was filled with evil that she never would've encountered otherwise. Her nature went from helping others to harming them, craving the power the jar had to assert dominion over the world, which was all too vulnerable now that it was filled with selfish and destructive desires. The events following her opening the jar left her weak and powerless, but the original evils could help her become more powerful than she ever was. She observes carefully as Pelagia and Chrysostomos collect the original evils, knowing that this will lead them to her, when she can take the power from them and absorb them into her being and bring about her reign of terror.

Songs

The Corroded Age--Long ago, when the world was young, there lived a civilization that knew nothing but kindness and prosperity. For many centuries, they lived in in peace, ignorant of trouble and unhappiness, but one day, an unspeakable plague touched the kingdom. The land was unfamiliar with strife and pain, and a sorcerer was sought out to cleanse the land. Unfortunately, he too soon fell ill to the plague. His daughter, who had joined him on his venture, knew of a jar that was said to hold the cures to all plagues, and sought it out. But she was mistaken, for when she opened the jar, she healed those from the plague, but released countless unspeakable evils into the world, from envy to greed to lust.

Take it to Heart--Palagia's father instructs her on the concepts of right and wrong in the world, though he omits sharing his own personal belief that everything in the world happens for a reason, as he grows concerned that she would simply wait around for things to happen or allow poor situations to befall her without fighting back. As such, Palagia takes her father's rules to heart, seeing the golden age that their country is in and believing that this is something that every land should experience, catapulting her venture into finding the original evils.

Renaissance--Palagia meets Chrysostomos, a divine being an embodiment of the hope within the Jar of Despair. She righteously requests his aid on the quest, which he casually agrees to, though her cause perplexes him, since he fails to understand how she can eradicate all evil in the world, since, as he puts it, "it's seeped into the blood of humans."

You Don't Understand--Damiani and Chrysostomos reflect on how good and evil chase each other in an endless cycle, and how those it affected fail to understand that one cannot exist without the other, at least not anymore; in the Age of Innocence (that soon became derogatorily called the Corroded Age), every thought and action was natural, and now there was no sense of certainty, no sense of simply doing something. Once something good or bad came into the world, it could never be removed.

Everlasting--Chrysostomos, having developed feelings for Palagia, confesses his love to her, which she accepts, to his surprise. That said, they ponder their compatibility due to their views on good and evil and her mortality. I have been to the Sheezys, the Buzzlys, the Mastodons, etc. These platforms all saw a surge of new activity whenever big sites did something unpopular. But they always quickly died because of mismanagement or users going back to their old haunts due to lack of activity or digital Stockholm syndrome.

From what I have personally seen, a website that was purely created as an alternative to another has little chance of taking off. It it's going to work, it needs to be developed naturally and must fill a different niche. I mean look at Zuckerberg's Threads; died as fast as it blew up. Will Pillowford be any different?

The only alternative that I found with potential was the fediverse (mastodon) because of its decentralized nature. So people could make their own rules. If Jack Dorsey's new dating app Bluesky gets integrated into this system, it might have a chance. Although decentralized communities will be faced with unique challenges of their own (egos being one of the biggest, I think).

Trying to build a new platform right now might be a waste of time anyway because AI is going to completely reshape the Internet as we know it. This new technology is going to send shockwaves across the world akin to those caused by the invention of the Internet itself over 40 years ago. I'm sure most people here are aware of the damage it is doing to artists and writers. You have also likely seen the other insidious applications. Social media is being bombarded with a flood of fake war footage/other AI-generated disinformation. If you posted a video of your own voice online, criminals can feed it into an AI to replicate it and contact your bank in an attempt to get your financial info. You can make anyone who has recorded themselves say and do whatever you want. Children are using AI to make revenge porn of their classmates as a new form of bullying. Politicians are saying things they never said in their lives. Google searches are being poisoned by people who use AI to data scrape news sites to generate nonsensical articles and clickbait. Soon video evidence will no longer be used in court because we won't be able to tell real footage from deep fakes.

50% of the Internet's traffic is now bots. In some cases, websites and forums have been reduced to nothing more than different chatbots talking to each other, with no humans in sight.

I don't think we have to count on government intervention to solve this problem. The Western world could ban all AI tomorrow and other countries that are under no obligation to follow our laws or just don't care would continue to use it to poison the Internet. Pandora's box is open, and there's no closing it now.

Yet I cannot stand an Internet where I post a drawing or comic and the only interactions I get are from bots that are so convincing that I won't be able to tell the difference between them and real people anymore. When all that remains of art platforms are waterfalls of AI sludge where my work is drowned out by a virtually infinite amount of pictures that are generated in a fraction of a second. While I had to spend +40 hours for a visually inferior result.

If that is what I can expect to look forward to, I might as well delete what remains of my Internet presence today. I don't know what to do and I don't know where to go. This is a depressing post. I wish, after the countless hours I spent looking into this problem, I would be able to offer a solution.

All I know for sure is that artists should not remain on "Art/Creative" platforms that deliberately steal their work to feed it to their own AI or sell their data to companies that will. I left Artstation and DeviantArt for those reasons and I want to do the same with Tumblr. It's one thing when social media like Xitter, Tik Tok or Instagram do it, because I expect nothing less from the filth that runs those. But creative platforms have the obligation to, if not protect, at least not sell out their users.

But good luck convincing the entire collective of Tumblr, Artstation, and DeviantArt to leave. Especially when there is no good alternative. The Internet has never been more centralized into a handful of platforms, yet also never been more lonely and scattered. I miss the sense of community we artists used to have.

The truth is that there is nowhere left to run. Because everywhere is the same. You can try using Glaze or Nightshade to protect your work. But I don't know if I trust either of them. I don't trust anything that offers solutions that are 'too good to be true'. And even if take those preemptive measures, what is to stop the tech bros from updating their scrapers to work around Glaze and steal your work anyway? I will admit I don't entirely understand how the technology works so I don't know if this is a legitimate concern. But I'm just wondering if this is going to become some kind of digital arms race between tech bros and artists? Because that is a battle where the artists lose.

"what is care bear stars?"

care bear stars was a 2008-2009 fanime created, drawn, and animated by joshua click (known at the time as jcstars5). here's a general synopsis:

Care Bear Stars follows the story of Terry Rogers, who meets a magical anthropomorphic bear named True Heart Bear. She gives him a magical talisman, and with it, he transforms into Tender Heart Bear. Along with the other Care Bear Stars, they work to protect good feelings and love among humankind and fight the evil Professor Coldheart, alongside a rogues gallery of otherworldly foes.

for those who don't know exactly what a fanime is and what it entails, here's a good definition from TVtropes:

Fanime (a portmanteau of “fan” and “anime”) is a type of Web Animation typically created by young amateur artists that originated on YouTube around 2006, a year after the site's launch. ... In the past, many fanime were animesque cartoons based on pre-existing anime, especially Tokyo Mew Mew and other Magical Girl shows. Tracing was also common. Instead of using animation software, creators would usually draw frames in MS Paint or Photoshop and composite them in Windows Movie Maker. ... As fanime was predominately created by very young artists inexperienced in animation in the beginning, it gained a reputation for being bad. ... care bear stars was received pretty well for its time for fanime, receiving a decent amount of fanwork and discussions on websites like deviantArt. though it was far from the only fanime at the time with its premise, its generally considered one of the pillars of first generation fanime alongside series like elemental goddess, and stood out for having full TV length episodes (something that was unheard of at the time for fanime).

the project was cancelled in 2009 after the creator received a cease & desist letter from then (now defunct) owners of the care bear stars franchise, cookie jar group.

My personal project: Nullite Chronicles

Alright. Where do I start with this. Those who have known me for a while - long before I made a tumblr account - know that I've been working on a novel series on and off for several years. However, it's better to think of it as just a story that's primarily told in novel format for the sake of convenience.

For those not in the know, however, here's some essential information on the state of the project:

The general concept has been a thing since 2013, and while much of it has changed since then, there are still some core aspects that have remained.

The reason why the ideas changed drastically over time is because I have been, and still am, guilty of letting ideas stew in my head and never really write them down in tangible form. Even now, I procrastinate on writing a ton and so there's plenty of things at risk of growing beyond their intended purpose.

Regardless, the first entry of the series took me about 2.5 years to complete (on and off, as usual). Long ago, I wrote nearly 3/4 of an entire novel that had a vastly different story before abandoning it. Long before that, I tried making a graphic novel of that same story before realizing how time-consuming the process would be.

As expected for a story written in first-person and has existed (to me) for over 10 years, it has a lot of personal meaning to me, though I will admit that there are some aspects that are undoubtedly personal yet I don't fully understand how. Perhaps the process of continuing the story will help me find out.

Now on to the concrete details. What is this story actually about and where can one even read about it?

As you have read, the series is called Nullite Chronicles. Still a working title, but it's what I've got for now. A sci-fi/fantasy series that, in very short summary, is about a goddess that decides to fuck around and give a few modern day humans reality-bending powers to see what happens, just because. The story follows these humans and the things that happen because of them.

The first entry was titled Crisis Inheriting. It should be important to note that this story begins from the perspective of some (relatively) ordinary humans and builds off from there. The story begins when a mad scientist passes away, allowing his inventions and research to be stolen. His son organizes a team to reclaim the stolen items.

The second entry, currently in progress, is titled Chaos Two Fold, following two of the aforementioned empowered humans right after the events of Crisis Inheriting.

Legacy feminization blogs: Honorable mentions

It’s amazing and scary how time is flying faster than what we’re used to as many of these creators have been long since gone, but not forgotten. These three creators perhaps made a mark on some of your current favorite blogs sometime during their bringing. It’s possible you may not know who they are because they’ve been far long gone, more so than the other legacy blogs. However, their legacy is still shared today through reblogged posts and influence. There’s no denying that my blog is today shares a few traits from these blogs, even if I never felt a direct connection to them. Here are the three blogs I will share with you today: Sasha’s TG captions, Jazlynnfun, and Transmexy.

Sasha’s TG captions

This blog is probably one of the earliest feminization caption blogs opened here on Tumblr still shared today. Some of its comtemporaries featured in my miscellaneous posts include blogs like Felina Captions and Katycat2009. They have a similar vibe in that they encourage the user to go deeper into femininity through lingerie and pleasure. The captions may be tame today, but at the time, Sasha’s captions were pretty much what you expect of “sissy captions”. The blog has been gone for perhaps almost 10 years now and it’s arguably the longest hiatus out of all the blogs I shared. However, their captions are still shared today and is a footnote on what would become of sissy captions during Tumblr’s peak.

Jazlynnfun

I’m pretty sure this is one of the first affirming feminization blogs opened here on Tumblr. At a time when “sissy blogs” began flooding this site, this one allowed you a breath of fresh air. Jazlynnfun focused less on sex-crazed captions and more on gender identity captions. Unfortunately, the blog can be considered to be “ahead of its time” as the amount of traffic through likes and reblogs are too low for a blog active during Tumblr’s heyday. It remains a footnote on what feminization captions would become later on through later legacy blogs such as Sanderlay or Joanna’s Journey. The blog is still open for you to view. Transmexy

Out of all of the three I mentioned previously, this one has the sauciest content! Surprisingly, this blog also had a lot of encouragement compared to the other “sissy blogs” that were active during Tumblr’s heyday. But based on what I could discover through archives, it was similar to Desirayeraye’s blog. Transmexy (uses they/them pronouns) mostly encouraged “sissies” to stop being afraid and come out as their feminine selves. The blog was a counter-response to all of those “sissy blogs” asking users to “like-reblog and you will be her in no time”, as well as blasting those who were dependent on mistresses. Sadly, their blog was terminated around the time Tumblr issued their NSFW ban back in late 2018 and their other social sites on Patreon, DeviantArt, and Twitter have been dormant since 2020.

Hey, it’s been awhile since I last did this, but I decided to go for as returning to Tumblr felt like a bit of a small nostalgia trip for me, so why not get back to one of my favourite MHA fan writers for old times sake and beside, a lot has changed since last time so why not….

Things That Remained The Same: Of course, my name is still Mason, my zodiac sign is still a Taurus, as well as I still consider myself as He/Him and Straight, along with me having dark brown hair and brown eyes. I also still consider myself as a full blown nerd towards the things I am interested in, although now I am a mix of being a Marvel and DC fan as of currently, I’m still a fan of My Hero Academia though I left the fan base altogether because “MHA Fanbase being MHA Fanbase,” currently I’m looking for different shows that could peak my interest (Such as Zom 100 and maybe RWBY, although that’s because of one RWBY character I like and ticked that the writers killed her off kinda got me into the whole “I like this character, now I’m obsessed,” that being Penny Polendina.) I still do Graphics Designing although I mostly post on Deviantart rather than Tumblr lately, I still have trust and communication with my autism although thankfully it isn’t as bad now of days, as I am a bit more confident with my social skills but mostly towards the people I considered as friends. As of currently, those are all the things I would say that mostly remained the same, as while I get curious with different series and all that, the basic tropes I have such as being a Nerd who loves to do Graphics Designing remained the same. (Oh, and I’m also still doing the best person I can be, though now there are times when I questioned about the goal, but I still follow it as I believed it’s the right thing to do.)

Things That Changed: Alright, now we are getting to the nitty gritty on the things I considered to be pretty changed, I retook the MBTI Personality quiz and I ended up getting a mix of ISFP and ESFP due to the “E” and “I” being 50/50, and while I consider myself more as a ESFP lately, it could depend on my mood depending on the day. I unfortunately shrink down to being a 6’2, I’m planning on trying to get back to doing Voice Acting though I am planning on getting my main PC fixed before I pick up the prices for the plan, while I’m using my laptop to do the graphics designing while I’m waiting til I get the computer fixed up, as well as taking a similar path to trying to get back to writing. I’ve also been watching a lot of Instagram Reels just for laughs, as well as opening a new Instagram account for my graphics designing uploads, as well as moving to a new Photo Editing engine with more features that helped improve on the way I work on my Profiles and Thumbnails. I am also currently doing a bit more hard work to lose some weight, as someone I know personally ended up getting health issues and I didn’t wanna become like him, so I’m trying to be more active and trying to eat a bit more healthy, though it’s hard since I’m someone who likes food in general. And lastly, I am actually planning on growing out my hair to bring out more style to it, with a hairstyle similar to Diluc’s ponytail from Genshin Impact being my go to style if I reach to my satisfied length and width.

wada sez: Starscream’s ghost returned in the Beast Wars episode “Possession”; here, he’s back again, and he finds the dead body of Terrorsaur, who was last seen turning into a Transmetal as he fell into lava inside the Darksyde in “Aftermath”. Terrosaur’s actual toyline-only Transmetal toy is used for the character’s design. In case you didn’t know, Ryan Miller is prominent fanartist TGPing, who achieved popularity in recent years with his stunning watercolors of Beast Wars characters and toy-accurate G1 characters, and managed to sneak in a couple of covers for IDW before they closed up shop. His work here reflects his toy-accurate approach, as Starscream has been drawn specifically as his Masterpiece body for some reason. This was originally going to be Page 7 of the comic, but was bumped up earlier; according to a later comment by Shaun Flaherty: “Starscream's Page 2 originally occurred much later, but as we assembled the pages, it seemed to interrupt the natural flow of the "Beast Wars" characters' stories, so we sort of squeezed it in near the beginning. I feel comfortable with the idea that he's watching the events unfold along with the audience until an opportunity presents itself for him to intervene on his own behalf, but it is a long time between when the seed is planted and its payoff.” See the original script below, as well as Curt’s “Writer Spotlight”.

Beast Wars.  I think for me, it’s the series that sort of kept the Transformer spark in me alive.  However, it’s also kind of a weird series, as I keep it segregated in my mind from the rest of my Transformers.  Allow me to explain: Being born in ‘85, by the time I was old enough to remember, Transformers was off the air.  But there was the semi-local video store, hand-me-down and a few new Transformer toys, some G1 episodes of my own, various “Action Cards”, and a very cool big brother to help fill in my imagination.  So even though I didn’t get to see G1 firsthand, I can honestly say that Transformers was definitely a part of my early childhood. But, in hindsight, I’d say Beast Wars played a very integral part in keeping me with Transformers.  Ya see, I didn’t have cable/satellite until I was 12.  Therefore, my knowledge of G2 was sketchy at best, and I only got a whole nine figures from the line when I was a kid, all Decepticons oddly enough.  However, my awesome big brother was in college at this time, and he came home on the weekends, and he usually brought me home a tape of cartoons I couldn’t see otherwise.  It was through this method that I saw that unforgettable commercial... “In the beginning, there was the beast.  But it’s more than meets the eye, it’s a robot in disguise!”  I saw it, and said to myself “Hey, Transformers, cool!”  So I watched the commercial a few times, and immediately wanted Dinobot.  However, he wasn’t first Beastformer, that honor goes to McDonald’s Manta Ray.  It took a little while for my brother to find out when Beast Wars was airing and start taping me episodes, but in the meantime I again took up renting G1 episodes from the library and getting a few Beast Wars figures in the process.  Because of this, I was mystified the first time I laid eyes on Gorilla Optimus Primal and T-Rex Megatron.  “That doesn’t make sense, they’re supposed to be a bat and a crocodile!” When I finally did get to see some select, mostly first season episodes of Beast Wars, I immediately recognized it as a good show.  As I learned the characters, I collected a few more figures, though not too many.  Years later I realized that, barring Snapper and the McBeasts, all the characters I got when I was “a  kid” were from the show!  Of course, oddly enough, I always kept my Beast Wars in a box by themselves.  Once in awhile they’d have adventures with my other Transformers, Super Heroes, G.I. Joes, etc., but for the most part they stayed separate. Anyway, even though I got satellite in ‘97, it wasn’t until around ‘99 that I finally got to see Beast Wars in it’s entirety when FOX re-aired the series.  If I recall correctly, I watched it every day it was on, and loved every episode. Time went by.  I watched the first season of Beast Machines, but wasn’t really impressed at the time.  The DreamWave comics came out, Rhino released certain episodes of G1.  This, and a very cool bootleg lot containing all G1 and CG Beast Wars/Machines episodes my brother bought, firmly cemented me into the realm of the Transformers.  I was here to stay. But what does that have to do with Beast Wars?  Well, in that lot there was a “commercial” tape that had various commercials and U.S./Japanese intros to nearly every Transformers series at the time (up to Car Robots).  It was through this that I learned about Beast Wars II and Neo.  I was intrigued.  Suddenly I wanted to know more about those characters and that Universe.  Well, for a long time that was my only knowledge.  When I finally got the Internet, I looked into Beast Wars II and Neo, though I’ve yet to see either of those series with the exception of a couple fan-dubbed episodes and the BWII Movie on YouTube.  But I did learn about all these cool non-show Beast Wars characters, and I wanted more. So for the longest time, I kinda ignored the Beast Wars CG series.  In my mind, it was done, and everything about those characters had been told.  I eagerly awaited the DreamWave Beast Wars series once I saw it would star non-show characters (though we all know what happened there), and I loved IDW’s “The Gathering”.  But I still had little interest in the original Mainframe Beast Wars cast.  I’d seen the show through a few times by this time, and the show had lost some of it’s original luster.  The Beast Era was over, it was all about G1 homages.  Therefore, when new Beast Wars material surfaced, I was more interested in new Beast Wars exploits, with new non-show characters. Then I received the invite to join what would become BEAST WARS: Second Chances.  I, of course, wanted in on writing the story because, heck, Mosaic is a really fun project and I’d been itching to co-write something.  So I took another look at the series.  When we got into the nuts and bolts of things, I started to realize again why I liked those characters to begin with and I looked at the Beast Wars show in a new light.  It was still good, but I started to see things I hadn’t seen before.  There were aspects of characters that could still be explored and stories yet to be told.  The magic is back and now I look forward to hunting down figures from the show I never got.  Surprisingly, Dinobot II is among them (you’ll all find out why soon enough). So all in all, I’d say Beast Wars is kind of a weird area for me.  I don’t know if I’ll ever be as enamored with it as much as G1 or Animated, but Second Chances has certainly rekindled my love for the series as a whole. -- Curt Lunsford

Near future for

Before this year be over..

I have stated a few times before due to the headaches I have and my real family folk were concerned of my health about status. I live by myself but I'm not good at things that I do very different. Next month I will be moving to my family home to stay a month long official- because of the eating habits I do and stuff like that.

Also, as for online involvement. Not things decline and not too good, also it can forget about "Thx for the favorite" and. It goes on official things on deviantART and thx for follow, as I'm one of the people who are still looking for new friends/ close friend and open to met new people, and I'm one of the small creator/ small artist - who are in great need of supportive, yet folk does not even care, that make them super self-ish. It is literally is a trend right now how things are not doing too well, not even folks online viewer don't even bother about things what I would prefer... thx to that I do not comprehend to these things anymore, it keeps on doing that, and I still don't comprehend, decades ago and more than 15 and 9 years ago it was a little bit more active for other folks to attract other things, but they prefer something else better-you won't find anything better around online, despite the crappy decline and the same remains things...  I cannot talk about that for another time, since it is becoming a thing. I feel pity already that there is nothing special about most people and people like me.

After the holiday and my birthday gift, I will be at my family home on and off for time, till I have to be away again in January earlier - I will be going out of town to Florida, to see my folk a rl cousin for some party.

Then I will be at my family home, just to start and maintain my activity and activities to restart things all over again with me- the things I usually do previously, and to do other stuff, especially going to gym (trying to)

I will be active, but as for online, things for online are in strong decline... I need fans, close friends and meeting new people. But things aren't doing justice completely the way we prefer or want, now that online has been a stupid excuse anymore due to changes and not the way we wanted...  

But I will be active online when I can, just simply for my need of support, comms and other things to do.

As this holiday season has been mixed and a little stress, that is all I can do about it! 

Starting around the new year, I will be at my family home for a few months or can't do justice extended longer..... 

For online, I really don't care about these quotes do more as I more about the real way and better things, other stuff...

There has been a little anger about rl stuff due to my health status, which I don't wanna talk about, different things, not caring completely and hasn't met expectations so far.

So far Im doing everything what I can to bring up my following back to track the way it use to be, which things are starting to be right now... But Im still maintaining things...
