Something I wish people online understood is that hyper-specific triggers and anxieties aren’t the responsibility of strangers online, but not in that gross cringe culture/anti-SJ way that actively mocks traumatized people.
You are 100% fucking valid if you have a “weird” or unconventional trigger, but the problem lies in expecting people online to somehow preemptively know this and go out of their way to censor all their posts that reference it. At some point, you need to take the responsibility on yourself and seek professional help or coping strategies that will help you manage your triggers because it’s genuinely unhealthy to snap at a stranger online because they didn’t add a warning tag for the color green or mentions of a Top 100s pop song.
Basically, we need to treat people with patience and sympathy but also stop normalizing the idea that it’s other people’s job to do this for us.
#and before anyone comes at me#I’M a person who suffers from trauma and has a few specific media and music triggers#and ofc this doesn’t apply to ‘general criteria’/common sense triggers#basically just be kind and reasonable ffs#and also let’s stop ‘ragebaiting’ using fake triggers bc y’all are NOT helping tye fact that nobody takes us seriously
