Anyway I wish this show was actually bold enough to give Miguel an arc exploring his feelings of entitlement over the captaincy spot. Throughout the show Johnny has repeatedly told Miguel that Robby is a lost cause but hey, It’s okay because he has Miguel now. That Miguel’s his champion, his Number One Boy. So how could Miguel not feel at least somewhat entitled to the captain spot? How could he not feel insecure about his place in Johnny’s life with Robby not just back in the picture, but now literally taking the number one spot? When Johnny has repeatedly put into both kids heads that when it comes to his love and attention its one vs. the other, how could there be no lingering feelings of resentment and jealousy?

What a good sport he is with Manolo in their "competition" for María. he doesn't let his jealousy show too much and doesn't have it show in anger. Possibly because he knew from the start that María was more attracted to Manolo. Or possibly because he's in love with both of them equally. But that's just speculation as a result of the poly potential movie ending lmaoo

This one's more of an inference and less of an observation, but like. if he couldn't feel pain for many years because of his medal, I think he would develop somewhat of a phobia of any sort of pain after losing it. I feel like the movie should have dove more deeply into the pain of him losing his eye...must've felt like torture after not feeling anything since he was like 11 or whatever but maybe he was in shock? Giving some credit to @surenschompychompers here because she helped with my speculation loll love her sm

The way he Looks at both Manolo AND María. Omg.

Another inference, might just be my bias but people in the movie seem to gravitate to him for hugs so I hc that he gives the best hugs :3

I recently watched it in English because we watched it in my Spanish class (I didn't have the privilege of watching it during childhood) and I like it a lot. Some of the reasons I like it are:

Literally everything about Joaquin

The ending and the way the movie ended the love triangle plot. Instead of villainizing the one character, there wasn't anything wrong with Joaquin, María was just more romantically attracted to Manolo. They hardly even fought over her and stayed friends the whole time.

The part of the plot about Manolo refusing to kill a bull, and how that impresses María because of her love for animals

Maria's character design is hilariously absurd and so are a bunch of the other ones

Creep by Radiohead out of absolutely nowhere caught me 100 percent off guard

Manolo erupting from the ground in a pillar of light was absolutely hilarious for no reason

First gay ship I watched that actually became canon. (kinda toxic tho-)

Y'all remember the first time you saw your gay ship become canon? I suppose for many of you it was Supernatural. 

For me it was back in 2013 when the series finale of Rules of Engagement came out, which is pretty early if you are talking about gay stuff. Not only did we get a slowburn spanning over several seasons, it also ended in a gay wedding.

In this essay I will talk about why this ship is so important to me and why it also was toxic as feck.

The show is about two couples and their single friend, all at different stages in their relationships, deal with the complications of dating, commitment, and marriage. From season three on, there kinda is a slow burn until season seven ends with the two unmarried couples getting married as well.

What started as a horrible boss messing with his assistant turned into a surprising love story.

 I'm not sure why I came back to this series after so many years in the first place. Some of the jokes are quite offensive so here is a warning for that. But on the other hand, all episodes are up on YouTube for free soo… Right now, in the September of 2021 we have exactly 20 fics on Ao3 by amazing authors. We are a really small fandom. The show ended in 2013 but like three or four people are still here.

Let me introduce the main characters:

The married couple consists of Jeff and Audrey Bingham. Jeff has been a financial manager and husband of Audrey since 1995. He has a rather deadpan, cold and sardonic personality and sense of self, particularly when dealing with Russell and Adam, but he is not sadistic or unkind, thereby rendering these traits as merely ironic and biting humor. He loves sports, shuns anything that might resemble sensitivity and often views his marriage as a competition or war, refusing to let Audrey "win" the upper hand at anything.

Audrey is an editor at Indoor Living magazine before later resigning and the assertive, modern wife of Jeff. She tolerates her husband's insensitivity because she knows he is not malicious and will do whatever it takes to make the situation right once he realizes his mistake. As a couple, they both can be very condescending and manipulative towards each other, in order to gain the upper hand, and typically don't like to concede to the other that they were wrong.

Adam Rhodes, a sensitive and well-meaning, but extremely naive and super extremely stupid, co-worker of Russell and Timmy, and Jennifer's fiancé throughout the series until they are married in the series finale. He is a neighbor of Jeff and Audrey, looks up to Jeff, and often acts on Jeff's relationship advice -This usually results in making the situation worse for himself. Jennifer Morgan is the fiancée and eventual wife of Adam, who endures his faults because of his good looks. She is very self-conscious of him, and will often try to spare him from embarrassment.

Timir "Timmy" Patel was introduced in season 3 and became a season regular from season 4-7. He first appears when Russell hires him as his assistant.  Although he is fluent in seven languages and holds an MBA, Timmy is often forced to do menial work or to solve Russell's trivial problems which often annoys Timmy. While many of Russell's schemes disgust him, Timmy will often see them through so that he can enjoy Russell's deserved penalty. 

Russell Dunbar on the other hand is wealthy, only due to his trust fund, which he uses to impress and seduce women. He is presented as a seedy and sleazy man who only cares about how many women he can get. However, it is shown that he has a softer side. His relationships within the group are seemingly conflicted, many of the group dislike his behaviour and mock him, as they do everyone else, but it seems that he expresses just as much distaste for them as he does not choose to invite them places unless he needs them to. Through Timmy, he is analysed by a psychiatrist to have sociopathic tendencies which explains his destructive behaviour.

He is also self absorbed and immature.

...But the thing is sometimes he isn’t.

While all three relationships show a lot of signs of toxicity, Timmy and Russell’s relationship is certainly the most destructive one. Which is mostly Russell’s fault.

But let me show you.

From a psychological point of view, their relationship ticks most of the boxes of a toxic relationship.

Toxic communication

Instead of treating each other with kindness, most of their conversations are filled with sarcasm, criticism, or overt hostility. Yet sometimes kindness is in fact seeking through.

Jealousy

There is so, so much jealousy going on. Russell really does everything to not allow Timmy to get together with a woman. Although only as the show goes on, it becomes clear that Russell is jealous because he has fallen for Timmy.

Controlling behaviors

Russell is questioning where Timmy is all the time or becoming overly upset when he doesn’t immediately answer texts are both signs of controlling behavior, which can contribute to toxicity in a relationship. And it gets so much worse than that. But more to that later.

Resentment

Yes.

Dishonesty

Yes. ALL the time.

Patterns of disrespect

Being chronically late, casually “forgetting” events, and other behaviors that show disrespect for each other's time are a red flag. This makes it red flag number six. 

Constant stress

A normal amount of tension runs through every relationship, but finding oneself constantly on edge is an indicator that something’s off. Yet another red flag.

This ongoing stress can take a toll on the physical and emotional health of a person. Which is one hundred percent happening.

Ignoring needs

Going along with whatever one partner wants to do, even when it goes against the wishes or comfort level of the other one. From his first episode in the show on, Timmy is forced to do absurd stuff he doesn’t want to do and honestly no one should do for their boss.

Lost relationships

Stopping to spend time with friends and family, either to avoid conflict with a partner or to get around having to explain what’s happening in the relationship.

Hoping for change

One might stay in a relationship because they see the other person’s potential or think that if they just change themselves and their actions, their partner will change as well. And it’s the little moments when Russell shows for only moments the tiniest bit of being a good person that make Timmy stay with him.

Walking on eggshells

One worries that by bringing up problems, they’ll provoke extreme tension, so they become conflict avoidant and keep any issues to themselves.

Lack of support however is arguably not always one of their problems. But we’ll come back to that.

And still, they share their sweet moments.

And then there is character development. Here the group of friends talks about Jeff lying to his wife about another friends bachelor party because he doesn’t want to spend time with her aunt.

Russell doesn't want to get married, clearly. This clip also conveys pretty well how horrible those people are. 

There is this tension and the gay jokes. This clip also shows really well how manipulative Russell -tries- to be.

And then there are moments like these: In season 6 Timmy wanted to impress a woman who only wants to date singers so Russell teaches him how to play the guitar with the ulterior motive of Timmy embarrassing himself in front of the whole company. This idea backfires when Russell realises that he can’t watch Timmy suffer like that and he joins on stage and they start this duet that’s like super gay.

To be with you by Mr Big is an interesting choice of song. -Not only because it’s quite romantic but also because the lyrics seem to be surprisingly fitting at second glance.

Let’s analyze it because Music is an important aspect.

“One of the great unrequited love songs, "To Be With You" has a true story behind it. Mr. Big lead singer Eric Martin wrote the song when he was still a teenager - 16 or 17 in his estimation. The girl was Patricia Reynolds, and he had it bad for her.

Anyway. When Russell joins Timmy on the stage, he starts with the lines:

I think this has to be taken literally. Not sure how much I should go into detail here. 

This however brings us back to the point of support from our list earlier.

There are jokes all over the seasons that Timmy and Russell are gay but it becomes most clear that Russell is in love with Timmy, in the last season, when Timmy leaves to go on vacation and Russell misses him so much that he gets a girlfriend and turns her into a copy of Timmy.

Things get worse when Timmy finds out that Russell completely lost his marbles and chipped him to always know his whereabouts. This finally makes Timmy leave the company and get a new job where he finally gets treated with respect. It is shown how they miss each other despite everything. But then Timmy loses his work Visa which turns out to be completely Russell’s fault.

Right after Jenn and Adam marry in the last episode, Russell proposes to Timmy so he can stay in America but it becomes clear that there is more than his conscience that made him do this.

 You need to see the whole show as it is. A bunch of horrible people that are made fun of.

Furthermore you could argue that they don’t actually kiss. But maybe marriage is even more meaningful. 

I suppose that since we get so little representation, we like to clasp onto everything we can get. Because when I watched this I was too young to understand how offensive the shit they talk about really is. But after all it meant a lot to my gay little heart.

So many years later I gotta say that it needs to be said that it’s a toxic relationship after all. Don’t try it at home. Don’t try it with your boss or assisstant.

In the end it’s a green card marriage. But there is this whole arch of Russell falling in love with Timmy. Most clearly in the last three episodes but also starting a lot earlier. It’s a slow burn after all. It’s never said out loud but we got two bisexual characters right there.

Now I’m asking around my friends what their first gay ship was that became canon. The results really show that we don’t get enough representation in series. Just wow.

Hannigram became canon. kinda. They jumped off a cliff together instead of kissing. That one dude from supernatural you guys keep talking about got sent to super gay hell after confessing.

What I want to say is I just wanna see a healthy gay ship become canon some day.

Trigger Warning: Suicidal thoughts.

Yuu did not bring many friends home to the Amano penthouse, but whenever he did the reaction was the same: pure, unabashed jealousy.

His parents were obscenely rich, he was wise enough to recognize it was more than just well off. His home was a middle school student's dream: indoor hot tubs, rooms one could reasonably play basketball in, and no parental supervision. Now, out on the balcony, he could look down and see trees the size of Legos, and a view that stretched out to the ocean. Most kids his age could not help but be envious. To Yuu however, only one feature stood out prominently.

Just how empty it was.

That void grew greater in its sheer size. Ceilings twenty feet high only served to underline just how little there was left to fill the silence. The distance between himself and those he could see on the ground, more metaphor than physical.

His recent trip to Hong Kong had only made this emptiness grow. He loved his sister, and while he’d thought himself used to her absence, it now rushed back to him in full force. They had spent years together in this home, and no matter how many corners it had, each and every one of them hid a precious memory between the pair.

His parents were away; his parents had always been away. Working, logging thirty hours every day to ensure that both he and his children’s children would be able to maintain this life of luxury with no effort on their own part.

So devoted were his parents that the very idea of indulging in such opulence like creature comforts or family were beyond them.

It had taken years for Yuu to associate the concept of ‘father’ with the man who bore the title. And in turn, possessed by Harpymon as he was, his father had not recognized him at all. Next to the protective love for his daughter, the son apparently did not matter at all.

Of all things, Yuu had been mistaken for a prospective suitor, which was certainly not something he wanted to unpack.

And that had been the first time he’d seen his father or his sister in months. Only once before in the year since returning from the digital world had he seen them together. He didn’t hate Nene, he couldn’t hate Nene, but even still, having her leave him like this…. Resentment wasn’t the right word. Bitterness was closer but didn’t quite fit. Envy was the most accurate of the bunch.

Yes, he was envious of Nene, for being able to go out there alone and fulfill her dream, while leaving him behind staring into memories of the past.

“You’re just like Nene.” He’d been told many times, from those who thought it a compliment. They were wrong, he’d initially believed they were wrong on both counts.

Yuu was smart, he knew it, even if he tried to be modest. Concepts just fit together to him in ways as naturally as walking. He even struggled to tutor others. The very idea of not understanding something was one of the few things he himself struggled to understand.

Nene was also intelligent, but it was far from natural. Whatever she did, she threw all her effort behind. With her being the eldest and thus the designated heir, failure was not an option, and she took advantage of every resource necessary to outcompete and outlast the others.

There was only one word he could think of to describe Nene at her most focused: Ruthless. There was no doubt about the success of the Amano corporation under her leadership, she would crush everyone she needed to crush and think little of the consequences. Even in her current profession: becoming an idol was merely a test of how far she could push herself, and Yuu sympathized with any who made the error of underestimating her.

But then, Yuu sympathized with everyone. That had been the other difference he’d believed existed between the siblings. From the lowliest ant to the grandest emperor to the most heinous criminals, he couldn’t stand to harm any of them.

Even the girl who would break the rules to try to steal his friends and swore to turn him into her prisoner, he just couldn’t bring himself to do any lasting harm to. He simply told himself if he was kind enough, if he showed how outmatched she was then Airu would eventually come around, or at least get the help she needed.

His parents had learned his bountiful generosity early. They only sent gifts these days, any allowance would immediately and indiscriminately be forwarded to various charities. He had never seen the problem with it; there were millions who needed money more than him.

He had, in childlike fantasy, seen that as the main distinction between himself and his sister. She had been named for dusk, and he for dawn. She had thrived in cut-throat competition, he had blossomed in a world without scarcity. She was the harbinger of darkness and despair, and he would be the one to lead others to the light.

And yet, he had, with these hands, “So easily…”

And she, in all her ruthless determination, had halted him, saved him.

Even if he didn’t deserve to be saved, maybe it had been out of her own selfishness. Why was his life worth any more than those he’d ended, those he’d tortured? Simply because she knew him and had an emotional attachment? But even that was a blemish on her, sticking her neck out for the likes of him. And he’d done it so easily before, with so little prompting. Who was to say he couldn’t do it again? “Wouldn’t it have been better if I wasn’t saved at all?”

He discovered a surprising bonus to just how long the drop off the balcony was.

“No good, No good.” A voice called out from his pocket. “Thoughts like that are no good at all.”

He stilled his breathing and took a step back. Damemon was right of course. There would be no penance found in death. He couldn’t die now, with the hunt on and needing to help with the digiquartz; his death would be only one more burden he was imparting on those around him.

But he needed to be careful. Damemon was no longer the only Digimon in his Xros loader. He had hunted Superstarmon. That was the point of the hunt, to capture all the Digimon, lost in the Digiquartz.

But the simple idea made his stomach turn. Digimon were living beings, with hopes and dreams, they didn’t deserve to be hunted for sport any more than Taiki or Nene did.

He didn’t feel bad about hunting Superstarmon, the Digimon had himself been hunting Taiki. What worried him, what scared him, was how much he had enjoyed the act of hunting. Of manipulating Tagiru and Ryouma into a situation where he could steal all the glory. Of joint-crossing with Taiki, something that he had been the only one of the original Xros Heart generals to never actually do. Of sneaking Tuwarmon in at the end to steal the capture out from the other hunters.

If he found himself enjoying fighting a bit too much, if he found himself taking joy in the pure act of hunting like Tagiru did, or sacrificing morals for his goals like Airu did? Could he? Would he go back to those times? If he would, shouldn’t he do anything it took to prevent it from happening again? Even if….

He shook his head. If nothing else this last year had proven just how wrong he had been; being compared to Nene was a compliment he didn’t deserve.

His empathy prevented him from truly stopping deranged criminals before they hurt more people. His aptitude was a gift born of biology and circumstance, not an accomplishment to be paraded around.

Even now, he was paralyzed by his own darkness, wallowing in it. While she was on stage, inspiring thousands, becoming the light that kept them moving.

Damemon popped out of his Xros loader. “You need to talk these things through, you can’t just keep it all bottled up.” His partner said.

Talk to whom? This was one subject that he couldn’t even breach with Damemon. ‘Sorry I’m so terrible you had to fight for evil and die’ was even more destined for disaster than his current train wreck of thoughts. “It’s no worse than normal.” He said.

“This is normal?” Damemon asked, seeing through him in an instant. “You need a better normal.”

“It’s just.” He exhaled. “I don’t know.”

And he didn’t. This wasn’t the answer on some test, and he was too wise to search his own knowledge of psychology for an answer. There weren’t any therapists that he could confess to without being either dismissed or thrown in the looney bin. “I got spirited away to another world and became a villain.” is the plot of some anime, not real life.

Tagiru wouldn’t understand. Taiki...might, he was at least physically present and could understand the magnitude of it all. And Taiki was the one who had originally broken through his wishful thinking. But Taiki also tended to attempt to shoulder all burdens by himself, even if there was nothing he could do. There was no reason for Taiki to exhaust himself just for Yuu’s sake.

And somehow, he was too embarrassed to share this weakness with his leader.

“I’m telling you it’s no good.”

It took a few seconds for Yuu to realize his partner wasn’t talking to him and had instead taken advantage of his introspection to swipe his phone.

“Hey.” He objected, reaching down to reclaim it. “You can’t just go calling people.”

“Yuu, are you okay?” His sister’s voice called from the other end of the phone “I’m heading over.” She declared.

“No. I mean, yes. I mean, you don’t have to, you can’t-” The line was already dead, he didn’t know how many of his feeble protestations she heard.

The average flight from Hong Kong to Tokyo took over four hours. How Nene left her apartment, procured one, and arrived at his door in less than 2 he didn’t bother to ask. It would have at least required breaking the sound barrier.

But then, barriers had never stopped her before.

“What’s up.” She asked simply

He did his best to muster a scowl. “You didn’t have to come all the way out here; I can take care of myself.”

As was his custom, Damemon destroyed whatever farce Yuu presented. “It’s no good, Yuu’s been having no good thoughts.”

“No good thoughts.” She said quietly, looking between them. “Yuu, you have to understand that wasn’t your fault.”

He quaked but did not respond, her hand reached out to rest on his fist as she repeated herself. “It was not your fault.”

“But it was.” he drew back, “It was my fault. If it hadn’t been for me, then hundreds, thousands, who even knows how many! They all wouldn’t have had to suffer! None of them would have had to die!” he threw his arm out, knocking over some cabinet, a priceless vase colliding to the floor.

Nene seemed unfazed by his outburst, “Bugramon was the one who chose the path of war. You had nothing to do with that, he chose to make them suffer, not you.”

“I chose! I saw them suffering, I saw their pain and I ignored it. No, it’s worse: I enjoyed it! I felt like a god, being able to choose who won and who lost. Using some as pawns to die and keeping others alive for my win.” His voice dropped. “Bugramon didn’t do that. I was the one who did it.”

“That wasn’t your fault either. Darknightmon tricked you. Even I -”

“-Because of me!” he shouted “He used me to enslave, he used me to manipulate you. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have had to stain your perfect hands. -”

“-Perfect?”

“- God I’m such a screwup. You’re the heir, you’re the eldest. Literally no expectations on me except ‘don’t mess things up’ and I turn both of us into mass murders.”

He felt her arms wrap around him, pulling him close. He couldn’t find the strength to break free, so he stayed there, staining her shirt with his tears.

“I am not perfect.” She said “You are not a screwup. And neither of us are mass murders.”

“We, we.” He couldn’t bear to say it. “It doesn’t matter if they came back. I still…” he unleashed another bought of sobs.

“No good, that thinking is no good.” Damemon insisted. “Death is different to us Digimon. It is unpleasant yes, and best to be avoided. But it’s not like humans do. Digimon never completely die.”

“We are not mass murders.” Nene insisted. “That doesn’t make what either of us did okay, but neither of us are truly murders.”

He wasn’t sure he agreed. His fingers curled into fists. “Even if Digimon come back, humans wouldn’t, right? Taiki had to trick the rose to be set free, you couldn’t just kill him and revive him. And he, I almost.” he couldn’t even bear to say it. “…It was so close.”

Yuu felt a bile burn in his throat, remembering just how little effort more he would have needed to snuff a life out completely. “You too Nene. If Minervamon hadn’t hidden in your Xros loader. In that case I would have, and you would have….”

“But you didn’t,” she said, “and you didn’t intend to. There’s no point worrying about what could have happened if it didn’t happen and you never intended for it to happen. I know you would never want to hurt me.”

He shook his head. It was easy enough to say no harm done, but his nightmares disagreed. Whether or not he was intending to kill her, he was certainly intending on putting a blade through her heart. And he almost did.

She took advantage of his silence to score one more point. “And I am far from perfect. I’m not like you, I stumble more than anyone. Grandma did use to say, it took me a year to learn how to walk, you did it on your first try.”

What did that matter? It wasn’t the first attempt anyone remembered, it was the last one.

“But you always stand back up, and right now, I, I don't.” he swallowed. Everything came to him as easily as walking, and yet, “I don’t always know if I should?”

His sister didn’t respond at first. Perhaps even she was caught off guard by his confession. But then, stumping Nene was a feat he dare not have the audacity to claim.

She held him, bringing them to the ground. One hand rubbed his back, up and down, up and down. “You know, if something were to happen to you, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself.”

She took a deep breath. “I told you I stumble more than anyone. I’ve faced failure after failure. Going to Hong Kong, Father cut me off. I had no money, no connections, I had to start from zero. I thought there was no way I could keep going more times than I could count.

“And when those times come, I think of you. I think about how you’d stop everything, just to give a funeral to a butterfly. Yuu took a deep breath, body shaking as the request percolated through him.

“I promise.”

She smiled, and pulled him close again, suffocating him in her embrace. “And now your first lesson in selfishness: Just let it all out. Don’t worry about me or Damemon or anyone else.”

I'd like some headcanons on Mirio and Bakugou falling for the same girl in 1-A. They've got a rivalry going on here, and a strong one. Reader is mostly oblivious to why they're fighting in the first place, figuring that the two just... really don't like each other? Bakugou thinks that Mirio is an idiotic nudist, and Mirio's sure that Bakugou wouldn't be a good boyfriend and treat her right. I'm personally biased towards Mirio tbh :3

Mirio would win, of course. But he would also be impressed by Bakugou’s prowess.

“You’re too proud, too aggressive for your own good. You’ll be a fine hero one day if you can calm down a bit.”

Calm down? Bakugou would consider this advice, but never admit it. However he had to keep his promise to stop insulting the older boy. No matter how much of a jerk Bakugou can be, he is a man of his word.

they both do, but more often it’s George who would text or call first, especially if Morgan is away for a few days because of work. sometimes though, Morgan will call George for just the most random reasons, but he doesn’t mind it at all as long as he gets to talk to her.

as much as Morgan would love to take credit for this, it’s George. being one of the master inventors behind Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes had its perks, and being able to come up with new and exciting gifts to surprise Morgan with is something that George loves. more often than not though, it was more about the thought behind the gift than the actual gift for George.

He’s pretty average in build, bit of muscle in his arms, some fat on his thighs. Slight pouch of a tum (cause no ones flat and thats unrealistic :<)

He’s about 5′4. So not tall, but not the shortest of the short.

He kinda likes to backpack about. Not staying in places long if they get boring. Which means he is kinda jack of all trades when it comes to work, offering to fix things for pay, lots of casual work doing various things.(One of his favorites was helping a little old lady run a paint shop.)

He occasionally snorts when he laughs and tries not to.

He has his ears pierced, and he has a little yellow gemed stud in his nose.

The ring around his neck he found in the middle of a patch of mushrooms.

He has a couple other tattoos. One of them is of bubbles up his wrist :3 He also has some stars on his ankle, and a sunflower on one of his fingers on his left hand.

He’s not super in to gardening but he does have his lemon tree. He also wants to grow some mandarins

His eyes look silver in a lot of lights, but occasionally there’s some strange hints of yellow, and other times blue.

Our precious Justin....I needed to do a fluff alphabet for him because...just because. I hope I caught him alright here!! Enjoy!!

A = Attractive (What do they find attractive about you?): Your eyes...your beautiful eyes. He can read your eyes like a book...he knows every expression and their meanings and regardless of what you say, he loves and appreciates that your eyes tell him what you mean. If the guys were to ask him, it’s them legs. Them long, sexy ass legs.

B = Baby (Do they want a family? Why/Why not?): It’s something Justin has thought about. He currently unsure and it’s not like that’s a bad thing. He knows he still has his whole life ahead of him. Should he choose not to have a baby, it would be almost for the same reasons he would; for example, he would be the father that he never really had...on the flip side, he doesn’t know if he could be a father because he didn’t have one. Maybe being with the Jensens, he would learn what a father was. On top of that, he isn’t so sure he would want to bring a kid into his world knowing he has a drug problem whether he’s sober or not but on the flip side, he would know the signs and ways to deal with an addiction should it ever happen to his child. 

C = Cuddle (How do they cuddle?): Justin Foley is a cuddler through and through. He’s had a rough go at life and he’s not used to receiving affection...it’s been a rough life. So when he can, he’ll always be wanting to cuddle you. He likes to trade off on the spooning because when he’s the big spoon, it’s his way of showing you he feels loved and when he’s the little spoon, it makes him feel safe with you. Any chance he gets, he takes to cuddle you.

D = Dates (What are dates with them like?): Now that Justin is working at Monet’s, he likes to take you out. Your nights are dinner and movies...but he also likes to take you places where it can just be the two of you so you guys can talk in private about anything and everything. One time, he took you to dinner and then stargazing. He likes being in quiet places after spending so much of his time in the loudness of the rest of the world.

E = Everything (You are my ____ (e.g. my life, my world…)): My heart. When Justin loves, he loves so deeply and whether he shows it or not, he puts his whole heart into your relationship. It’s caused him plenty of hurt in the past but you have been the first person he feels he can truly trust with his heart so he gave it to you to keep safe.

F = Feelings (When did they know they were in love?): Earlier in the day, Justin had gotten into another fight with his former friends. He had a pretty good busted lip. You were so concentrated on getting the cut cleaned and doing your best not to hurt him...the loving and caring look in your eyes as you looked back at him when you were done...he knew he loved you. He even told you at that very moment.

G = Gentle (Are they gentle? If so, how?): As gentle as he can be. Justin’s life has been rough in every which way whether it was his home life or sports or even fights. It’s what he’s used to so he tries really hard to be gentle in every single way possible with you. He doesn’t want that roughness of his life or past to touch you or affect you in any way. 

H = Hands (How do they like to hold hands?): Justin always reaches out for your hand when you guys are together. He’ll lace his fingers together with yours and if you guys are just standing and talking to your friends, he’ll kiss the back of your hand before letting it rest at your sides. 

I = Impression (What was their first impression?): When he first saw you, he truly believed you were the most beautiful girl he has ever seen. Justin Foley is not one to be nervous when talking to a girl but he was. It took him 2 days to hype himself up enough to carry a conversation with you in English class. He was not disappointed to find out how funny and kind you were.

J = Jealousy (Do they get jealous?): Justin tries to reign in his jealousy but it doesn’t always work. He doesn’t like seeing other guys flirting with you at all. He doesn’t mind guys talking to you but if he gets a whiff of flirt on, he doesn’t stand for it. He’ll be subtle in the beginning by either holding your hand (if he wasn’t already) or putting his arm around you, suddenly interested in the conversation. He knows you would never stray but he doesn’t like guys trying to win over a girl who’s already in a relationship...he feels disrespected.

K = Kiss (How do they kiss? Who initiated the first kiss?): Your first kiss with Justin...god, thinking back on it always made you smile. It was on your first date and he took you to the docks to watch the sunset before you guys went for a walk and ended up at a playground. You two had a competition on who can swing the highest on the swing set and he sadly won. When you both came to a stop, there was a moment where you smiled at each other, the laughter slightly dying down before he leaned in. When your lips touched, you swore fireworks were going off in your mind. It was gentle but passionate. You had never had that reaction to a kiss before. Definitely the best first kiss of you life.

L = Love (Who says ‘I love you’ first?): You were the first to say I love you. It was maybe a few weeks before he said it but you just had to tell him. It was when he walked you home after a date and you ended up saying it. Of course, when he was quiet for a moment, you felt a little self-conscious and felt like you messed up. But Justin needed that moment to soak it all in. It made him feel happy even though he wasn’t ready to say it back. He told you he was happy you said it because he never wants you to hide your true feelings for him and that he wasn’t ready just yet. But he knows he will be. 

M = Memory (What’s their favorite memory together?): The memory that tends to come up the most in his mind when he thinks of you was one night after one of his football games, you two ended up at one of Bryce’s parties. He knew you would go for him but you truly weren’t much of a partier. So he decided that night for you two to leave early. Your parents were out of town so he took you home where you made the decision to cook for him. He just loved hanging out with you, watching you move around the kitchen with ease and even teaching him a thing or two. He just loved how you made him feel: truly happy. It seemed like a slice of normal he sometimes so desperately craved with the chaos that seems to find him. 

N = Nickel (Do they spoil? Do they buy the person they love everything?): Until he started working, Justin didn’t really have much in the ways of money. He wished he did because he would by you everything including the world if you asked for it. But he didn’t so he couldn’t spoil you the way he wanted. Instead he would find ways to show you he cared about you in action. Even after he started work at Monet’s he would try to keep it up. Granted, he buys you gifts for your birthday and what not but you have always loved and appreciated whatever he did for you.

O = Orange (What color reminds them of their other half?): It may seem odd but the school colors of Liberty High. He would find himself lending you his sweaters or letterman jacket and so whenever he sees the colors, he always pictures you in them.

P = Pet names (What pet names do they use?): His nicknames tend to be complimenting so he’ll call you things like beautiful or angel. In a way, it’s just his way of reminding you that he loves you.

Q = Quaint (What is their favorite non-modern thing?): It’s not like Justin announces this but there have been plenty of examples of your relationship where when he wanted to take pictures, he would use a disposable camera. You remember asking once why he didn’t use his phone and he told you it was because he liked having physical pictures of you two that he can keep. “Phones can break down and if you don’t save to the cloud, you lose it all.” 

R = Rainy Day (What do they like to do on a rainy day?): Rainy days tend to come with the feeling of peace and tiredness so he loves to nap. So there were plenty of rainy days he’d come over to your place to curl up in bed and take a nap with you.

S = Sad (How do they cheer themselves/others up?): Justin used to have a very unhealthy way of cheering himself up because it involved alcohol and drugs...he tries to combat all of that by finding ways to keep himself busy. If you aren’t around, he’ll go to see a friend or play a video game...anything to keep his mind busy. He likes to cheer others up by trying to do little things to make them smile. He’ll try making things like normal so he’ll tease playfully or he’ll crack a joke in a silly voice.

T = Talking (What do they like to talk about?): Usually no topic is off limits with Justin. He tends to talk about anything and everything. Granted he’ll have some things to keep to himself until he’s ready but your guys tend to talk more about what your days and school and even your futures. Recently, he wanted to see what you’ve been watching on Netflix so he could have more stuff to watch.

U = Unencumbered (What helps them relax?): Justin likes to take long hot showers to help him relax. He’s very active so he finds that to help him relax. He also likes to play videos games otherwise he’ll go over to your house and cuddle with you. He likes to play with your hair too.

V = Vaunt (What do they like to show off? What are they proud of?): This may sound weird but he likes to show you off. He’s proud that he managed to get you to fall in love with him and he’ll do anything to keep you. When it’s just you, he’s always proud to mention that he was adopted by the Jensens. He’s happy that this great family was willing to take a chance on him.

W = Wedding (When, how, where do they propose?): Justin was always the type that knew there may never be a perfect time to propose. You guys were in high school so something was bound to happen whenever he planned something big. So he decided to be spontaneous. He would carry a ring with him anywhere when he felt that the time was right then and there. He always knew he would have this mental speech prepared to tell you how much you mean to him and how you changed his life for the better before asking you those 4 beautiful words.

X = Xylophone (What’s their song?): In your mind, you tend to associate Christina Perri’s song, “Human” when you think of songs about Justin Foley. He’s not perfect and he has dealt with a lot but he’s always trying his best to get through it all. The song speaks of experiences of dealing with a lot and hiding it all, which you’ve seen Justin do a lot. When it comes to your relationship, you remember your first dance together and Justin told you that it would be your song: “Faithfully” by Journey. But when it’s just him jamming out in the car or wherever, it’s “Everyday” by Logic and Marshmello.

Y = Yes (Do they ever think of getting married/proposing?): Definitely. Justin knows he’ll marry you one day and always thinks of ways to ask you. He may be unsure about having kids but he’s sure that he wants to spend the rest of his life with you. You made him believe, after so long, that he is deserving of someone who loved him. So he can only hope you’ll be the only one to love him.

Z = Zebra (If they wanted a pet, what would they get?): Justin would definitely get himself a dog. He’s an animal lover so whatever dog he would get would be treated with so much love and cuddles which is why you’re sure he’ll find himself a smaller dog.

and, oh, just lots of unnecessary words and being the polar opposite of concise

it’s a reaaaaaaal long one, my fuckin bad, might come back n edit it down later lmao

there is one specific thing that comes up..................... a bit. in the story. and this is the idea that there is pent up resentment and jealousy and anger between the Greer siblings

and IMO I am extremely careful not to lean into the idea that this is the case when I’m writing and when I address their relationship with each other, ‘cause it’s just something that............. isn’t there??? like at all??

here’s what I do, in-story:

all I do is just present their situation and their history and their relationship with each other, I talk about the various feelings they do share and what kinds of tensions are involved at the times when there is tension involved, but overall, they all have a really positive relationship with each other!!!! they love each other!!!! 

there is some level of miscommunication between Tris and Becca because of Reasons and that is something that’s addressed in the story and something that gets dealt with, but they absolutely do love each other, all of them do

n relationship between Tris and Becca is never really under that much scrutiny by other folks in the story n that’s not what this post is about, ‘cause like, other folks REALLY like to focus on the relationship that Tris and Becca have with Jacob, right

so, the two things I do, 1) present the situation and 2) voice other characters’ interpretations and perceptions of said situation

‘cause the idea that there’s pent up jealousy and anger that Tris and Becca have directed at Jacob is something that’s almost exclusively voiced by other characters in the story and isn’t supported by...... much else. and it’s something that is presented as a source of a lot of anxiety and discomfort for all three of the Greer sibs, Tris and Becca particularly

n yeah, I don’t know how I feel about readers potentially going through this story assuming that this is actually the case............. though readers are free to do what they would like, regardless of my intent

I just mention it ‘cause like

one thing is that it’s the kind of family dynamic in fiction that’s really frequently used as the setup for a story about jealousy and resentment, y’know, ‘cause at a glance there’s this dynamic, right, this Dynamic

with these overbearing, strict, emotionally distant, controlling, etc. parents who place all kinds of pressure onto their kids and want to project this Perfect Family Image at all times, they’re obsessed with appearances and success and being normal, super normal, More Normal Than You

n then you’ve got this one over-achieving, polite, social, well-liked older sibling who got straight A’s and can do no wrong, who everything comes (supposedly) easily and naturally to, and the younger two who are.................... not good at school, kinda weird, never Act Right, both neurodivergent, can never quite live up to their parents expectations........ generally treated by said parents as kinda just. lowkey embarrassing. some kind of blemish they need to hide because they don’t lend themselves to this We’re A Happy And Normal Family Who’s Doing Better Than You :) :) vibe

like, as a general rule, the Greer parents are more concerned with image than they are with any of their kids’ actual wellbeing

Becca’s got a lot of ADHD going on and their parents Really did not like it when she came out as bi because obviously it’s just for attention (and like, hey, Becca’s really fucking good at arts and sports and eventually goes on to play professional basketball not that that gets covered in story but That’s Not Important because she doesn’t get good grades and that’s all that matters :///)

n Tris began exhibiting signs of psychosis when he was little and their parents were just sorta like “hm we should probably exorcise this child like the nice normal well-adjusted family we are” and then they tried to do that and I think he was maybe a little bit too young to completely understand what was happening but kinda grew up thinking that was a totally normal and reasonable thing for them to do and not just a completely fucked up thing that should never have been allowed to happen

then went on to have his first full-blown psychotic episode at thirteen years old and his parents were just sort of like. Hm. You Should Have Some Therapy To Fix You Maybe. Also We Are Literally Never Going To Speak About This Ever

and I think largely the outlook other characters have (and I think, the outlook the Greer parents have) is that Jacob comparatively just kind of................ cruised right on through with no issues?

so I think a lot of people kind of look at the Greer family and are like.......... well, look at them, there’s got to be some fucked up feelings there, how could there NOT be. n I think pretty much everyone barring Noa and the Greer sibs themselves on some level think there’s some level of bad blood

and their mistake is........ well, two things, from an outside perspective

the first being the assumption that Jacob had it easy, ‘cause like........... YES Jacob is extremely good at keeping up appearances and meeting his parents’ expectations but he’s the human embodiment of that, uh, what is that one The Onion headline that’s like.......... “This Brilliant 11-Year-Old Ballerina Is Living Proof That Children Can Achieve Anything If We Push Them To The Breaking Point”

y’know, as if Jacob didn’t grow up in the same high-pressure environment where love is completely conditional and only given if you can prove that you Earned It, as if he wasn’t constantly plagued by the fear that if he slips up or steps even slightly out of line or is anything less than Completely Perfect And Accomodating at all times, that love will be taken away. n he grew up into a neurotic perfectionist with identity issues who can’t set boundaries and doesn’t feel he has any worth if he’s not constantly being Useful and Relevant and Smart and giving as much of himself as possible

and, more pressingly, he grew up with literally Zero idea how to navigate any sort of healthy balanced relationship, he’s someone who, with the exception of his siblings, grew up only experiencing love as fear, and as such, he’s someone who’s very easily taken advantage of and he doesn’t have the capacity to recognise it

so, like, yeah, Jacob was better at projecting the Nice Normal Family Image that his parents wanted than Tris and Becca have been, but he still grew up facing the exact same pressures and unpleasantness and overbearing control and had the Worst Fucking Time

like, he was not having fun at all, he was terrified 24/7

and the second mistake is, like............ in assuming that the Greer siblings are in competition with each other? like, it’s easy to project all sorts of bad blood and jealousy and pent-up anger onto the two younger siblings if you assume that they’re in competition with Jacob in vying for their parents’ affection and attention but like........ they’re not

n I’ve talked a bit in the past about how Jacob has always been extremely, extremely protective of his younger siblings purely because he didn’t want them to go through the same bullshit he did all on their own. n he’s probably 90% of the reason either of them are anywhere near as well-adjusted as they are, and he’s pretty much been the only consistent source of love and stability and genuine emotional support they’ve had through most of their childhood, ‘cause he knew damn fucking well they weren’t going to get it from their parents

largely due to Jacob, probably, ‘cause like. he has thirteen extra years under his belt and he came to the conclusion, probably when he was quite young himself, that literally nothing he ever does is ever going to be Good Enough and that no matter how well he does in school or socially, his parents will find some new thing to nitpick or to tell him to aim for, and like......... well, that’s horrible to have 2 come to grips with at any age?? he can do lots of things that make his parents happy but nothing he does is actually going to get his parents to love him as a person, their genuine love is completely unattainable

which changed his priorities a LOT

n like, he’s a genuinely good guy. he’s very caring and sweet and kind and supportive and he loves his siblings very much

n I think there's this assumption that Jacob is the only one of the kids their parents actually love when that's not really it at all? he's the one they LIKE but they don't love any of them

which is oversimplifying it by a lot, because Tris and Becca have all sorts of complicated feelings about their parents and definitely don’t hate them (yet), but, like, you get what I mean

which I think is where people make the mistake, y'know, bcthe Greer sibs are not in competition with each other, they’re kind of, supporting each other against a common enemy

like, both Tris and Becca struggle a lot with their feelings about their parents, and over the course of the story, Tris is kind of............... juuuust starting to come to grips with how fucked up his relationship with his parents is, or more like....... I mean he kind of Already Knows, but assumes that he on some level deserves it, and over the course of the story is kind of like

Oh Wait None Of This Was My Fault And None Of What Has Happened To Me Was Normal

and even from THAT regard though, that was something that Jacob had been kind of pushing for from day one, Jacob is kind of the person who laid a lot of the foundations for him to eventually realise that, although of course that kind of final leap is one you have to make on your own and something that takes a lot of work

but he kind of struggles with the complicated grey area of being like “I love my parents” and “the way they treated me was legitimately fucked up and I didn’t deserve it” and that’s.......... a whole thing

n like.............. from a readerly perspective, this is stuff that comes out over the course of the story as you kinda learn more about their backstory and their relationship with each other

but again, the familiar setup most people associate with resentment is kinda there, and there’s a lot of kinda........... pressure from other (sometimes well-meaning) characters when they voice their opinions about the Greer siblings’ situation from outside perspectives

and like I said, I’m not sure how I feel about readers potentially going through this story assuming that those characters are Right, ‘cause I don’t think that’s necessarily something I lean into or build towards if you’re paying attention

like, I think those readers who DO assume that there is bad blood, they might be a little disappointed if they feel that the story is building to An Explosion and then there just............ isn’t....... but part of me is also like

well lmao that’s entirely on you, and you’re just illustrating my point, actually

like at no point did I express that this was a thing or even hint towards it, all of this came from Other Characters Projecting and from You Projecting

n also while I don’t want people to feel cheated there is a part of it that’s just like. super fucking funny to me. if like

someone reads this story and assumes there’s all this Bad Blood just waiting to finally bubble over and explode in some climactic moment, y’know, and the story gets to this real heated tense moment where the cracks are starting to show and push is coming to shove and then the huge plot twist is just like

“no they all do legitimately love each other so much and support each other unconditionally and want each other to be safe and happy and loved and they’d do anything for each other and the entire point of their story is how much they care about each other and how powerful and important the connection they have with each other is”

fuckin LOVE that. that’s so fucking funny to me

FLASHBACK

A silent and relatively peaceful residence was suddenly tainted by the very well-known screaming of two lovers that were cursing and calling names to each other out loud. Dialogue was almost indistinctive as a TV left on added its robotic voice to the mess.

“You’re fucking psychotic!”, Asterius yelled back as he dropped his worn out The Black Keys hoodie on the back of the nearby couch.

But was she actually being psychotic as he rudely claimed? They had been out most of the night drinking and hopping from club to club, but Asterius has never feel tied to anything or anybody ( his mother would be an exception, but he would heatedly debate on that ) and so, it was hard to keep track of him whenever he hit the streets either alone or with company. The first couple of hours he hanged around his girlfriend as he was supposed to, but soon, flirty eyes and short skirts took no time to drag his attention away from Harlow and by the time they had had a good amount of alcohol in their systems and they were also visiting the third club of the night, Asterius was ¨excusing himself to the bathroom” constantly, taking more time to return each time, arguing he had been drinking way too much; but if you followed him ( because let’s be honest, he wasn’t being too careful either ), you could have found him lips locked with a stranger nearby the bathrooms or the back of the place without much shame.

Whether Harlow had paid him back with the same coin that night or not is blurry, specially for him who was far too drunk to accurately recognize his girlfriend from the crowd and when the fighting started, he tried defending himself by dragging her down to the same low game: that she was a cheater as well and most likely had played him dirty.     Asterius was a sly bitch and everybody around knew that; loyal to a few people but that was about it, he didn’t care much about the rest and maybe... unfortunately, Harlow was added to that gray list as well at some point in their history; he stopped showing up to her concerts and would not pick up her calls, things like those that eventually escalated into that clubbing night.

“I was not cheating! You were too bloody drunk and could hardly see three feet in front of you”, he falsely accused her, “I am so done with your fucking jealousy”.

Another wave of indecipherable yelling came through and as she started crying, he held himself back in silence as the place fell back into almost sepulchral silence.

“Fuck”, he muttered while running a hand alongside his tired face, “Stop crying, I fucking hate it when you cry”, he muttered, because yes, while he seemed heartless, he was not one being able to deal with upset people.

Rage was soon overpowered by sadness and Asterius looked down with a frown as his heartbeat took a more normal speed. “I’m sorry for yelling”, he mildly apologized through clenched teeth as he approached her. His hands held her face from each side, wiping away the tears with his thumbs as a little sad smile attempted to pop up on the corners of his lips. “You’re so goddamn gorgeous, alright? Look, I don’t know what happened tonight, but it’s you and me, okay?” He tended to do this, to drip meaningless words in honey just to avoid further confrontation and regain the control of the situation.

They hadn’t even made it to the bedroom and they were laying on the couch, but Asterius hadn’t been able to sleep much through the few remaining hours of the night and with eyes stuck on the ceiling he took one of the best decisions he could have taken for the sake of both: he got up carefully, crouched next to her and pulled the blanket over her bare shoulders. He kissed her cheek goodbye, got dressed and as he rushed to gather his things from all around the place in silence to avoid waking her up, Asterius was already receiving to his phone an ad about a sports competition and a scholarship for a prestigious academy.

And as he kept on texting his friend, he had completely forgotten about the hoodie he had thrown on the couch last night, but Asterius was already far away with a cab full of his things and a bitterly fresh beginning.

who’s the most creative when it comes to gifts: milo would give her too many gifts, material items she really has no care for, so it would be kana who is the creative one. 

who suggests new things in bed: ...milo.

who cries at movies: kana, but it is nothing more than a glossy eye. she tries to hold it in. 

who gives unprompted massages: given her job, i’d say kana, especially after a game when milo’s adrenaline wears off and he is tired n sore :((

who fusses over the other when they’re sick: oh, kana. 

who gets jealous easiest: my heart is saying milo, but given his past, i can see kana surprising him and showing some lowkey signs of jealousy in the beginning stages of their relationship, but it would just be her own insecurities. 

who has the most embarrassing taste in music: i guess it depends what is being considered as embarrassing here? i can see them both having some songs on their playlist that just makes the other raise a brow. 

who collects something unusual: neither ?? but if i had to pick one, it would be kana given her addiction to thrifting and antique stores. unless milo keeps the dirty socks he wore to every winning game. 

who takes the longest to get ready: why is a part of me saying milo?

who is the most tidy and organised: kana. 

who gets most excited about the holidays: i can see them both getting excited, and imagine their families coming together :((

who is the big spoon/little spoon: since milo has never been in the sort of relationship to allow him to be affectionate, i can see kana initially being the big spoon, as she’d have to initiate the cuddling. as their relationship secures, i have a feeling the role would shift quickly. 

who gets most competitive when playing games and/or sports: milo, no question. 

who starts the most arguments: okay so, since milo is so emotionally unavailable and keeps everything bottled up, i can see kana snapping at him. the frustration of his attitude would just build and build, to the point where she initiates an argument just to get something out of him.

what other couple they hang out with: once they become settled into their relationship, i can see them hanging out with other hockey couples from milo’s team. kana needs girlfriends to cheerlead with on the sidelines.

how they spend time together as a couple: hockey, of course, whether it is attending a game or watching from the comfort of a couch. they are a rather lowkey couple, so they just are content at home in the other’s company. however, exploring the city, taking day trips to the beach, and trying out new restaurants are also favorite pastimes of theirs.

who brings flowers home: kana! lil farmer’s markets are her guilty pleasure, and she loves bringing some life into milo’s apartment.

who hogs the duvet: we both know this is neither, due to the fact that they sleep so entangled that there is no room between them, and thus, no hogging of the duvet. 

who texts/rings to check how their day is going: as rory is more reserved about their relationship in the beginning, i see this going to leon.

who collects something unusual: i don’t necessarily see it as unusual, but i can see them both having a few keepsakes from their children. also the little love notes they write for each other, but i don’t know if either of them would collect anything that strange? 

who takes the longest to get ready: perhaps rory? just because i see her waking up late due to her night owl tendencies. 

who is the most tidy and organised: rory, as leon’s office would be as messy as his head. 

who gets most excited about the holidays: i don’t see either of them being very excited for the holidays, i can just see them staying in as if it’s a normal day.

who gets most competitive when playing games and/or sports: gonna go rory on this one! 

who starts the most arguments: i really struggled with this one, because while they both come off as rather passive, they are equally just as passionate and so immersed with the other, that i think arguments would happen over little things that just escalate due to the frustrations and heartbreak they have experienced. they are really the only other person in each other’s lives that they feel comfortable opening up to, so i see both of them starting arguments here and there, just because they can’t show that type of emotion with anyone else.

how they spend time together as a couple: once she graduates and he is fully hers, there would be constant book signings, museums, paint and sips, feeding the ducks at the pond, and picnics in the park under a large oak whilst reading shakespeare. for the time being, there are secret meetings in his office, galas, bubble baths, cuddling naked in front of a fire in the privacy behind four walls, and of course, little trips on his boat.

Inhuman royal family in the Evo verse

I was hoping someone would ask this one! How to work the Inhumans into Evo is actually something I’ve thought about a lot, because I love the Inhumans and I love Evo, but they SEEM so incompatible, since Evo doesn’t really have any other superhuman species besides mutants, and just plonking some in doesn’t fit the tone of the universe, in my opinion.The EASIEST option is just to make them all mutants, give them some human names (Blackwell Bolton and Maxwell Bolton for the Boltagon brothers, Gordon for Gorgon, etc) and let their Inhuman names just be their codenames. But...I feel like that takes away their Inhuman-ness. That is, I think them being this weird isolated people with their own culture who are wary of outsiders and consider themselves superior to all others is a really important part of who they are, and I’d like to keep that.So my idea is they are mutants, but they’re not just normal “I grew up as a normal human in a normal human family til whoa I got my powers!” mutants. They’re an extended mutant family that has lived in an off-the-grid commune for GENERATIONS. The idea is that their ancestors were mutants whose powers surfaced much earlier in history, like Logan or Magneto, or maybe even before them. Persecuted by humanity, who believed them to be witches (like maybe they came up during Puritan times in America?) they fled and formed their own secret community. They’ve welcomed in new blood here and there over the years, but it’s still very small and tight, implied to be a little inbred. So they’re people who are mutants, who grew up knowing they were mutants even before they got their powers, whose parents and grandparents before them were mutants, whose neighbors are mutants, who have only ever known other mutants. To them, it’s HUMANS who are the weird ones. And since they didn’t have the word “mutant” til very recently in history, they’ve always called themselves “Inhumans”. The “Rite of Terrigenesis” in this version wouldn’t be what gives them their powers, but instead a coming-of-age ritual that they perform after their abilities first surface. They go deep into a mist-filled crystal cave at the center of the commune, and meditate on their new abilities until they come up with their new “Inhuman name” to reflect said abilities. So they’re given human names at birth and then take on names like Triton and Medusa later. Which makes a bit more sense than “yeah the kid we named Triton just happened to turn into a fish guy when he got his powers, what are the odds”.The emergence of mutants en masse amidst the general populace has shaken their sense of identity, as they always considered themselves a unique people, and caused debate among them if they should reach out to these other mutants, attempt to rejoin humanity, if these other mutants count as “Inhumans” too or if you have to be raised in the Inhuman culture to count, should they help the persecuted mutants in the outside world, etc. As for Xavier, he actually learned of the Inhumans long ago via Cerebro, even before he formed the X-Men. He visited them and offered them the chance to send their children to his school, but they declined, wanting nothing to do with the outside world at the time. However, since he had found them, he knew, as they did, that the rest of mankind would sooner or later. So he worked together with them to develop technology that would “block” devices like Cerebro, should anti-mutant forces ever develop them. Thus, the Inhumans stayed hidden successfully---until SOMETHING happens.I don’t have a distinct idea as to what. Off the top of my head...I’m going to say Crystal ran away, wanting to explore the outside world, and she got attacked/captured by a Sentinel. When the X-Men liberate the mutants being kept in the same holding facility as her, they of course get her as well. From her, they learn about the Inhumans, and they want to go meet them. Xavier, however, is like “no, they want to be left alone, I’ll return Crystal privately.” And Crystal is like “but I don’t wanna go home!” but since she’s not being treated badly there, Xavier is like “well you’re going” because he knows the Inhumans, he knows they’ll just come take her back by force. So Xavier takes her there in the Blackbird with some of the older X-Men. But the New Mutants, of course, are all “hey if this teenager says she doesn’t want to go home cuz it’s boring, she shouldn’t have to!” and they stow away, intending to “rescue” her. So after Crystal is handed back to her family, the New Mutants sneak out of the Blackbird and come help her escape AGAIN, but they get caught by her sister (Medusa), cousin (Gorgon), and sister’s boyfriend (Black Bolt). This is how we meet the Inhuman royals, and how they come into conflict with the New Mutants.And somehow or another, by the end of it they’ve decided they want to explore the human world too, and convince the elders/their parents to allow them to be the first explorers into the outside world since the community’s founding, as ambassadors to the “NuHumans” (as they call other mutants) They don’t become permanent members of the school or the New Mutants/X-Men, but they do have a temporary stay at the Xavier’s mansion and attend Bayville High for awhile as “transfer students” from the country of “Attilan” (the name of their commune) Xavier probably helps a lot with convincing the Bayville high officials that “Attilan” is TOTALLY a real country, guys, it’s a tiny city-state in the Himalayas! And the reason they’re white is because it was founded by, um, European missionaries!And now after that VERY LENGTHY SET-UP, here’s the Inhuman royals! As teens! Because that’s the fun of Evo!

Blackwell Bolton aka Black Bolt: As in the comics, he doesn’t speak due to the destructive nature of his vocal powers, which almost destroyed the Attilan commune when he was a child. Because of this, he feels great responsibility for the commune, and protecting it to make up for the damage he did as a baby, even though it wasn’t his fault. His first thought is therefore always looking after his fellow Inhumans, and his reason for coming to the outside world is mostly just to protect the other kids while they explore. His teachers are told that he is deaf-mute but that he has a hearing aid (he wears a fake one) so he can hear them, just not reply. The reason given to his teachers as to why he doesn’t speak sign language is that “oh he does but only Attilan sign language, and there are no interpreters for that in America!”He’s seen as the “strong silent type” by the girls at Bayville High, and it makes them VERY interested in him. The guys claim it just makes him “weird” however, mostly out of jealousy. I imagine there’s a scene where the Bayville guys invite him to play sports or have some other athletic competition, and they expect they’ll humiliate him because there’s no way the weird foreign disabled kid will be able to be good at anything...and he ends up EFFORTLESSLY WHIPPING ASS!He and Medusa might already be dating, I did call him her boyfriend earlier, but I think maybe Romantic Tension might fit Evo better. The show was ALL ABOUT THAT ROMANTIC TENSION. BB/Medusa/Max might be the new Jean/Scott/Rogue?Maxwell Bolton aka Maximus: BB’s younger brother, of course! I’m not sure if I’d make him a villain yet or not? And whether he is or not would influence if he keeps his powers a secret or not. If he’s not going to be a bad guy, then he doesn’t keep them a secret. If he is going to be a bad guy, he keeps it secret so that he can more easily use them without the other Inhumans and X-Men realizing what he’s up to. And if he’s a bad guy....what’s his motive? Do these Inhumans still have royalty? Is BB still in line to be king? Or is it something else? Also, he probably still disdains regular humans (and possibly also “NuHumans”) like in 616, so if he’s got some villainous plan that could give him motive to come along with the others to the human world. But it could also be he just wanted to hang out with Medusa, who of course he has to have an unrequited creepy crush on.Max is obviously a science/engineering whiz, basically the new Forge, and ends up being INCREDIBLY useful on the X-team for this. I think that there should probably be a scene where he and his tech single-handedly trounce the Brotherhood, all with a smirk on his face. So at first they love having him around, but his personality quickly grates on everyone, even MORE than the other Inhumans (who, it turns out, are all kind of snotty besides Crystal)I think I wouldn’t write him as obviously “mad” at the start, just very energetic and enthusiastic about his work, so hyper and weird but nothing to suggest he’s truly unstable. But there increasingly starts to be moments where he just goes “too far” against enemies or even just people who bother him, to the point it starts to be worrisome, with eventually the others having to actually FIGHT him to put a stop to it. I think that, as with the “Royals” series, there would definitely be acknowledgement and exploration with how ableist Attilan society is, that they had no sign language for Black Bolt, no way of recognizing or treating whatever it is Max specifically suffers from, with the explanation being that in this universe, they never moved on with the rest of outside society on these matters, that they still look at these ailments the way their ancestors did long ago. I think there would have to be careful balance to show that he’s not evil BECAUSE of his illness though, more than he actually ends up failing in said evil because said illness trips him up. Something like that. Also the idea wouldn’t be that he was hiding his mental illness, but that it’s developing/getting worse now that he’s hit puberty. And there should be a really emotional scene where it’s been figured out what’s going on and he begs Xavier to fix him and Xavier explains he can’t rewire Max’s brain on that level ;A;Madeleine McQuillan aka Medusa: As mentioned, she’s either Black Bolt’s girlfriend already, or there’s at least Ship Tease between them. She keeps her hair tightly bound so that she can’t subconsciously use it in public. She’s very sensible, responsible, etc., and is basically the “Jean Grey” of the group, except she’s much more no-nonsense, she can be kind of cold and harsh but only when it’s actually called for. She’s basically the serious sister to contrast Crystal’s free spirit, and she takes the leadership role in the group alongside Blackwell, being the one who reprimands the others when they get out of hand or doing something dumb that might get them hurt, reveal their powers to normal humans, etc. But she also defends them against the X-Men when the X-Men try to reprimand them for the same things; she’s very much got a “these are my idiots and only *I* can call them idiots!” attitude, and she cares about them and feels responsible for them, something Blackwell can relate to. I think her arc should be less about romance, and more about her and Crystal’s relationship, their differences and conflicts, and each coming to understand and appreciate why her sister is the way she is. Crystal McQuillan: Might give her an elemental-themed codename if I can think of one! Anyway, she’s the open-minded free spirit of the group, curious about the human world and eager to explore it. She’s very fun-loving and doesn’t hesitate to follow her heart, but the downside means she’s impulsive, childish, and doesn’t think about others before she acts. Due to her enthusiasm for the human world, she’s been consuming human media since childhood (probably something she and Max did together as kids actually), and thus seems the most “normal” to the Bayville kids and X-Men alike, and fits in with them the best out of all her family. The boys especially like her, and I imagine she’s got ship-tease with Sam Guthrie and Duncan Matthews both. I think there might be an episode where she starts getting involved with Duncan and Jean tries to warn her what a jerk Duncan is, but she ignores her and then ends up in some real trouble because of it. There should probably also be some obligatory moment where Pietro winks at her during a battle with the Brotherhood and she calls him cute or something, but nothing beyond that.Gordon Peters aka Gorgon: First thing, someone will ask him why that’s his codename since weren’t the Gorgons what the mythological Medusa was, and he’ll explain that there’s another creature in lore called a Gorgon that is a bull-like creature. Because there is, and his codename baffled me until I found this out.Anyway, Gordon ends up fitting in at the school IMMEDIATELY. He’s a jock, he loves to party, he fits right in with the “popular crowd” even while all the other Inhumans (except Crystal) struggle to various degrees to integrate. Same powers, he wears specialized boots/shoes to disguise his hooves and block the effects of his stomps if need be. I don’t really have any ideas for him besides that he probably gets a human girlfriend or at least is implied to be as popular with the ladies as Blackwell (and unlike Blackwell, he reciprocates the attention!)Carson and Tristan, aka Karnak and Triton: Haven’t picked a surname for them! I also haven’t decided if Karnak’s powers come from training like in the comics, or if they’re actually POWERS like in the ABC series. I’m thinking the latter. Either way, he’s even colder and harsher than Medusa, and way more abrasive about it, so he rubs people the wrong way easily as much as Max does. Thus it annoys the X-team EVEN MORE how useful he is. There’s probably a scene where he goes toe-to-toe with Logan during a fight in training after Logan has wiped the floor with everyone else, but instead of this making Logan or the kids LIKE him, it actually just makes them more irritated with him. The fact he doesn’t care at all makes them like him even less. He’s kind of like Jean in that people resent him for his talents, but unlike Jean this doesn’t cause him any conflict. The only thing that bothers him is when everyone else is BEING AN IDIOT.Triton had to live in the Attilan lake ever since his powers surfaced. He didn’t think he’d be able to go on the trip into the outside world, but once Maximus had access to the level of tech available at Xavier’s, he was able to build him a breathing apparatus. It fits around his neck, and he hides it with scarves and turtleneck sweaters. He uses an image inducer like Kurt, of course.Due to the fact he hasn’t been able to socialize much since he was a kid, a lot of his social skills are very awkward, and he comes off as shy and weird even when he’s TRYING to fit in very hard with the other kids, he’s just so happy to be here but they all think he’s a weirdo. It’s also hard for him to prove his worth in combat to the X-Men since like...he doesn’t really have any powers? He’s just really good at living in an aquatic environment. In the comics he has a lot of training, but in Evo I think he’d lack that, and thus be pretty useless in a fight unless it was underwater. Kurt would see him as a kindred spirit, and go out of his way to be his best buddy, take him to social events, etc.Lockjaw - Of course Lockjaw has to be included! Since there’s no Terrigen Mists though, I think he’d just be a normal dog! Still probably an unusually large bulldog, like the size of a pit bull or Saint Bernard, maybe he’s a mastiff, but he’s not cow/hippo-sized like the comics and show. He also cannot teleport, but maybe he has some kind of teleporting device put on to him by the Attilan parents as an emergency portal back home should the kids ever need it.

Genre: Well it’s about karate and I don’t really know where I was going with this

Warnings: Ummm… I don’t believe there’s any except BTS being kinda invasive and sort of rude… Reader is a sarcastic and doesn’t back down from any challenge

Summary: Being the only female black belt to EVER compete doesn’t scare you, but that changes once you try and make peace with your opponent and his teammates. Yet, life hasn’t been kind to you and you just can’t seem to back down from ANY type of challenge

Breath in, breath out. Relax, you’ve got this. You are the best and you know it! There’s a reason you made it this far! Focus Y/N.

Opening your eyes, you take in your surroundings. The red and blue mats litter the length of the floor. Eight blue 8x8m squares represent rings were all the action will take place. People cheering for their champions, loud shouts of anger from the karateka and simple chatter fills your ears. This is what you use as your source of energy.

You were one of the first, no one of the only female black belts at this event. You were a ‘special case’ of sorts. Your sensei literally dragged you into the club on a very stormy night. The man just found you and decided you needed some form of self-protection, taking your hand with no explanation and dragging you away from your hiding spot.

That night your whole world changed. You went from a scared street dwelling girl with a black eye, scared cheek and fractured rib to one of the best karateka in your club. You quickly made your way up the ranks to your black belt. Being the only female doing a full contact sport had its pros and cons. Pros being you got excellent training against the boys in the club, not like the boys would have gone easy on you. Their jealousy being a bit of a ‘small’ inconvenience. The cons on the other hand being you had NO friends. The club was a family, you being the least favourite among your ‘siblings’. The boys all believed you needed to ‘prove’ your worth before they would consider you as equal, even if this ultimatum went against everything the club stand for.

This competition was you ticket to acceptance. If you could prove you weren’t as weak as the female gender were classified, then you would earn the respect of those people you look up to.

The chatter continued as you started your warm-up. Not one soul in the stand has noticed you as of yet, and you would like to keep it that way. The less attention you grab the better. Unfortunately, as soon as your name was called to the floor the entire stadium went dead silent. All eyes were on you. Every single eye that could blink was zoomed in on your form. Even the other floors had stopped to watch you. Not intimidating AT ALL.

With a final deep breath, you made your way to the floor. As you stepped onto the mat, you felt a hand on your arm. “No one is watching you. Take a deep breath and only, and I mean it Y/N, ONLY look at the head judge” your Sensei whispered into your ear. Nodding, your eyes zoomed in on your target. The head judge was a rather odd-looking man. He had thick rimmed glasses on, little to almost no hair and one big, and by big you meant enormous stomach obstructing his movements ever so slightly.

Bowing to your opponent you make your way onto the mat and to the assigned mark. You don’t even acknowledge your opponent as you focus all your energy and focus into your limbs.

“Kata?” the main judge asks.

Shouting in union you and your opponent announces your chosen combination of movements.

As he gives the signal you immediately spring into action. Your face is neutral and focussed as you shift from position to position. Every movement is sharp and exploding with power. Your muscles are tensed as you spin and punch at the same time, landing on one of your knees and blocking a ghost kick. Letting out the strongest of shouts you spin into a kick as you try and disarm no one in particular.

Flowing from one move to the next you keep your eyes focussed on the round judge staring at you with an unreadable expression on his face. Turning into your final stance you shout with as much energy you can muster. And then you freeze, knowing that you needed to wait for the judge to call the end, you force your muscles to halt all movement.

With a final look to your side he calls for the end. You stand up, bow and wait to see the results. As the whistle is blown and the flags are raised your heart stops.

All the flags are blue, all five of them.

You. Were. Blue.

The first emotion to filter into you is relief, the next is surprise and then fear. Fear in the sense of not knowing why this happened. Where you truly THAT good or was this a trick.

Glancing over to your opponent you immediately lock eyes with a rather enraged looking boy. If this was some elaborate prank, they certainly got one of the best actors to do the job. Before you could even go and shake hands with your, now fuming, opponent you were engulfed by more than one set of arms.

“Y/N!!! well done!”

“OMG! I can’t believe you beat his ass”

“How did you manage to look so perfect”

One after the other the complements came from none other than your ‘brothers’, whose trust and acceptance you desperately wanted. In conclusion you were beyond happy.

“Y/N, do you realize how good you had to be to beat that kid? You literally had to be perfection reincarnated. And guess what. You qualified to go to nationals! The kid also got in, so I’d go make peace if I were you. He looked pretty down to be the first to lose to a girl!” your sensei beamed with pride as he said this. You couldn’t blame him, he did manage to create the impossible.

After your teammates finally released you, you made your way to the opposite side of the arena. Navigating your way through the small crowds next to the rings, you finally made it to your opponents’ team. Surprisingly there were only seven and they were more than surprised to see you coming towards them.

“Uh, Hi. I’m Y/N… uh I just wanted to congratulate my opponent on making the team for nationals” You awkwardly bowed as you awaited a response.

Upon looking back up you saw seven pairs of eyes staring back at you. They neither looked happy nor mad at you, they were surprisingly neutral. That was until your unnamed opponents stood up and slowly stalked towards you. His neutral eyes taking on a predatory gleam. You would be lying if you had to say he didn’t intimidate you at all. This intimidating mass of muscle stopped a few centimeters from you, completely dominating your personal space, yet you didn’t move.

“That’s quiet brave of you to come and request a handshake babe. I’ll give it to you, you were good with every single eye in this arena on you. I must say I am quite surprised, and I’ll admit, when they told me I was going against the first EVER girl, I expected an easy win.” He said cocking his head to the side, another shot at further intimidation.

A shot he missed by far. You smiled up at him. A playful, yet serious, gleam entered your eyes as you made direct eye contact. Your body taking on a challenging aura as his small attempt at intimidation slowly failed away.

“Clearly one of us underestimated the other. Anyway, congratulations kid.” You sarcastically responded.

If his ego was bruised at you winning, it was nothing compared to what his body language were conveying at this moment. Anger entered his eyes, along with curiosity. Taking a step forward, you simultaneously forced him backwards. His anger turned to surprise as he watched your every movement.

“See you around kid” you simply said before turning around. You were about to make your final exit when a hand grabbed you. Turning you around, you came face to face with the same unnamed boy.

“Hey sweet cheeks, the names Jungkook. And trust me, I saw your reports card and I’m no kid to you. I’m looking forward to our next meeting. Stay alert babe, we like a challenge and the one you had thrown at us might happen sooner than you think.”  He said as he released you with a wink.

Returning to your team, you can’t shake the feeling that you’ll come face to face with them sooner than you wanted to. Yes, your sensei trained you well, but these kids, well men, where way stronger than you were. You were fast and accurate, but they could also be. You had never gone against more than two opponents at a time, let alone seven. If they decided to ambush you, you were done for.

The day went by slowly and you were beyond exhausted when you could finally return to your hotel for the evening. Being the only girl certainly had its perks when it came to sharing rooms. You had your very own room seeing as the boys weren’t all to enthusiastic to share a room with a girl.

You hopped into the shower as soon as you entered the room. Taking your time with your hair as you scrubbed of todays victory sweat.

It was as you exited the bathroom in your towel that you heart a series of frantic knocks on your door.

“Who is it?” you called

“Y/N? I need your help with something… urgent can I come in?” a muffled voice resembling one of your teammates came through the door. Sure, this was unexpected but hey, you did manage to win their respect.

“Just a second! Uh… come in the door is unlocked. I’m just going to dress quickly.” You said as you re-entered the bathroom. You decided to go casual, so you settled for a pair of shorts and an oversized T-shirt.

As you exited your bathroom for a second time you come face to face with, not one, but seven very familiar looking men. Again, all of them had neutral expressions because breaking into a girl’s hotel room was normal. Okay technically they didn’t break in, but still.

“What the hell are you guys doing in my room?” You said as you backed away from them.

“Oh, now come on little dove. We just thought it was unfair that only Kookie over there got to introduce himself. So, we had to get creative to get the chance.” A very tall man said as he leaned against your door. A.k.a. your only escape.

“Okay, so get on with it so you can leave.” You, not so friendly responded.

“Right, That’s Yoongi at the window. Seokjin is the one currently on the right side of your bed. Hoseok is on the left side. That’s Jungkook as you already know, Taehyung is on his right and that’s Jimin on his left. And I’m Namjoon. “I don’t think you understand us babe. This isn’t a request.” Hoseok cuts you off as he gets up. The rest following his movements as they start towards you.

“FINE, fine. Just tell me when and where. I’ll be there. “You say in a rush. The space around you slowly decreasing.

“Good girl” Taehyung and Jimin simultaneously say as they retreat to the door.

“See you there, little dove…” Seokjin says as he kisses your cheek on his way to the door.

As Namjoon and Jungkook leave they each send you a wink accompanied by a smirk.

 Authors Notes: So, this is another one of those type of drabbles… I was sitting me in gi, waiting for my karate class to start when this idea popped into my head…. I recently started a new type of karate and although I can keep my belt level, that being first black, I need to be reasserted and its not been easy learning the new style. kitts, kitts, always kitts. she gets cold at night so in addition to her socks on her chilly toes, she winds up cocooning herself in the blanket and staying snuggled against soren. she’s rather shameless about it too.

soren usually but leaning towards both. it depends on who has gone out for the day and spends most of it away from home. soren is usually out of the shop more so he checks on kitts first.

who’s the most creative when it comes to gifts

soren! he makes little metal sculptures for her that she had to wind up getting a display cabinet just for them. they’re usually varying in terms of image– sometimes abstract and sometimes they’re little animals or buildings. she’s always excited to see what he comes up with next. her favorite thus far is the pair of wolves he made for valentine’s day.

who gets up first in the morning

kitts. she’s not much of a morning person and likes sleeping in when she doesn’t have the shop open but she’s usually up and at ‘em and needing to drag soren out of his dreams.

who suggests new things in bed

soren. kitts will be the first to admit he’s the kinkier of the two of them. her problem mainly lies in that she’s thought of things she wants to do and doesn’t know how to convey them but soren is usually the one to either suggest them or coax what she wants out of her.

who cries at movies

soren but he’ll deny it up and down. kitts will usually tease him a little by tickling at his side but she always has tissues at the ready and is prepared to stay curled up against his side for the duration of the movie.

who gives unprompted massages

kitts! she enjoys the surprised but pleased reaction she always gets from him whenever she gives him one. sometimes it’s just hands rubbing neck and shoulders but others it’s her rubbing the places where his prosthetic leg and arm connect and around his artificial eye. sometimes she just grabs the massage oil so she can give him a full body massage – when they started having a sexual side to their relationship, she found out that was a good way to get them both in the mood.

who fusses over the other when they’re sick

both. soren can be grumpy ( read: pouty ) when sick and usually kitts’ fussing is actual fussing at him to behave and let her give him his meds or whatever other cure-alls she has to help him – she’s also not above threatening to immobilize him via removing his prosthetics. it’s just her worrying though. soren, however, is much the same since kitts is stubborn and won’t listen to reason even with a fever. he’s very attentive to her needs and she’ll swear up and down she doesn’t like being babied but she really loves how tender he gets with her. she could very much do without his experimenting with different “home remedies” though.

who gets jealous easiest

kitts. before they were ever together, kitts had a difficult time with hearing about soren’s flings. she never acted on the jealousy past getting wasted and conking out. it’s calmed down mostly though eyes aimed towards soren or even at her are quickly met with a glare. both are quick to remind themselves of who’s at whose side.

who has the most embarrassing taste in music

soren. they’re usually pretty catchy songs but kitts only approves of them because of seeing soren dance to them– not because she actually likes the song.

who collects something unusual

a bit of both though neither are extremely unusual. soren likes collecting scrap metal for future metal art. kitts likes collecting socks to wear at night for her cold feet.

who takes the longest to get ready

BOTH. especially if they’re going out on a date. thankfully, they’ve lived together for enough years to know how to work around one another. it helps that they don’t mind doing one another’s makeup and dressing each other too.

who is the most tidy and organised

kitts – at least for the house. her shop is more of the organized chaos type and she will be quite steamed should someone try to clean it up.

who gets most excited about the holidays

neither. they like being able to decorate together and they get gifts for one another depending on which holiday it is, but soren hates the holidays for the most part and kitts hates that people make it about buying things and not about celebrating with the people you’re with. other than doing the things listed, it’s just another day to them.

who is the big spoon/little spoon

it depends on who wants/needs to be the little spoon. sometimes soren wants or needs to be held and sometimes kitts does. usually, they sleep holding one another.

who gets most competitive when playing games and/or sports

BOTH. both of them hate losing and they’re both willing to play a little dirty ( read: cheat ) just to get their victory. kitts says she never cheats but it’s a lie and soren knows it. soren, however, isn’t ashamed to admit he cheated.

who starts the most arguments

depends. he has a penchant for running his mouth a little too much but kitts can sometimes be oversensitive so things will hit her emotionally in a way they wouldn’t normally. both have a tendency to self-sabotage too so sometimes they pick fights because they feel they deserve the anger likely to be coming their way.

who suggests that they buy a pet

not buy so much as finds a pet and it was probably soren because he hates the shocks pallas (their robotic pet for all intents and purposes) gives him.

what couple traditions they have

the transition from childhood friends to lovers didn’t bring very many changes in terms of how they act and what they do with one another. they do take showers and baths together and use the time to build each other up for the day. soren is into the bdsm scene and kitts, being curious about it, now sets time aside every so often to do a scene together– something that’s liberating for them both.

what tv shows they watch together

probably robot wars or some sort of crime show. kitts swears she caught soren watching a fighting match here and there and mimicking the fighters though.

what other couple they hang out with

their reflections in the mirror in their room. ;)

how they spend time together as a couple

however they can to be honest, though that hasn’t changed much from how they were before getting together. they’re simply more open about it. they take showers together, cuddle in bed and bring in the mornings with lazy kisses, watch television and go shopping together. they go to the bar on their dates and try to beat each other at darts – neither let the other win except on the rare occasion.

who made the first move

it was a mutual effort on both parts because of the situation at the time.

who brings flowers home

soren, but they’re not always flowers. he goes out to the desert a fair bit and brings back flowers, stones, even bone remnants back to kitts. anything he thinks she may find interesting, he brings it back.

who is the best cook

actually they’re both good cooks but soren’s shortcomings lie in his experimenting with various and mostly not so appetizing combinations when he takes the helm of the kitchen. there’s only a few dishes kitts can decently stomach.

Somebody asked me to do a ship meme with Catrapta/Encatra and Tumblr didn’t save a draft, so this one goes out to that person. Sorry for getting to this a bit late.

I think Catra would sleep on top of the covers, and if she gets cold, Entrapta would blanket her with her hair.

Entrapta can get way too absorbed in her work, so Catra would check in just to make sure she takes breaks.

Entrapta. To the point that Catra gets a bit self-conscious about her own gifts.

If she’s not careful, Entrapta would already be up from working through the previous night. Even on normal days, she’s still up first.

Catra listens to a lot of rock stuff and Entrapta listens to a lot of pop/techno/edm kinda stuff. The embarrassing part is that they both semi-ironically enjoy even the worst songs in those genres. For example, Catra “appreciates” “Bipolar Baby” by Forever the Sickest more than she’d like to admit. And Entrapta isn’t that proud of her love of Toy-Box.

Probably Entrapta. I’m thinking cute little animal figurines.

Entrapta. She’s a little disappointed that Catra said no to a kitten, but also not surprised. I’m not sure what they would end up getting, though.

They agree to go out to the Whispering Woods once a week, mostly to get Entrapta out of the lab. They stumble upon First Ones tech once in a while, so win-win.

Not sure. Black Mirror maybe? Probably also some comfortable stuff like the Office.

Relaxed cuddles and dates, among other things. Catra counts “scavenging for parts” as a date, and thank god for that.

Once Catra started to realize her own feelings, as well as Entrapta’s crush on her, she made her move. Entrapta still gets giddy thinking about their first kiss.

Catra doesn’t often pick flowers, unless it’s really striking and reminds her of Entrapta. Entrapta probably makes metal flowers for Catra sometimes.

Both of them TRY; it’s an ongoing Thing with them, though Margrid’s ultimately more successful. Girl’s a gremlin. Orlèans is mildly impressed (and he has someone get another one because, really, it isn’t like he can’t afford multiple. It’s just the PRINCIPLE.)

Both of them. Keeping up with one another is a BIG thing in their relationship, both in terms of the personal and the business aspect of it. That started before they started sleeping together and persisted afterwards, with it changing along with their relationship. One of them might send a more businesslike text that asks the other how things are coming along and then immediately follow it up with something more personal. One of the first signs to Margrid that she might have been catching some feelings for the boss was actually when she started feeling Piney Lurching Things whenever she saw that he’d texted her. 

who’s the most creative when it comes to gifts

Despite (or perhaps because of) Orléans being the one who can easily afford gifts, Margrid is actually the most creative of the two. 

who gets up first in the morning

They’re both relatively early risers. Unless they’re too tired from smashing the night before. 

That being said, Orlèans tends to wake up slightly earlier and slightly happier. Margrid might wake up for job purposes, but that doesn’t mean she’s happy about it. Sleeping in is a luxury that she hasn’t really HAD all that much of. (Though Orlèans also takes longer to actually go through his morning routine.)

who suggests new things in bed

BOTH OF THEM. Orléans technically has more experience and a ton of various and assorted techniques, toys, etc. that he’s picked up over the years, but Margrid’s more CREATIVE and more willing to try out different things. 

who cries at movies

Both of them are pretty stoic for the most part, though Margrid tends to cry when it comes to parental deaths. (Orléans was SHOCKED to realize that she still cries over Bambi, even though she carefully tries to deny it. At first, he thought he was imagining it, but then as it went on further he realized that, no, it was 100% genuine and he had to spend time comforting her. And We Do Not Discuss Land Before Time) 

who gives unprompted massages

Orléans, as part of his devious “see how often I can touch Margrid” scheme. In the AU that you know about, it comes in very handy, because of the circumstances that would make the occasional back rub very, very useful. It’s part of how he gets back into Margrid’s good graces after The Thing.

Obviously, if frick fracks ensue from said massages, that’s a bonus.

who fusses over the other when they’re sick

As mentioned before, Orléans tends to fuss MORE over, say, a cold, while Margrid’s fundamentally pragmatic. He gets his doctors on and he periodically checks on her, taking every measure to make sure that she doesn’t die or recontaminate herself. If Orléans is sick for more than a few days, though, it switches around, with Margrid sticking around to keep him company, keep him updated on things, etc. while trying desperately not to freak out because, as much as she pretends otherwise, she really, really isn’t prepared to lose him yet and the sight of Orléans weak and fevered in his bed, only able to weakly flirt with her, his normally very strong, deep voice hoarse from coughing, is jarring. Just give it a few more years, Marg. Just give it a few more years.

As I’ve mentioned before, neither one of them’s really THAT prone to jealousy, though I do think that Margrid TENDS to edge out Orléans ever so slightly if only because there are plenty of women around him that are younger, beautiful, and have the social clout and position that she can never have (even though in terms of BLOODLINE, she outdoes them all given that she’s. Actually descended from royalty.) And, given her own feelings re: what happened to her mother, I think that that has to be at the back of her mind, that her position’s really precarious, even though she does know going in that the man’s a THOT and it isn’t really something that she can ask him to change. Orléans is a solid bet because, between Grace Dalrymple Elliot and Madame de Genlis, he does seem to have had a pattern of staying on close terms with his exes, but still. That shit stings. She can survive just about anything, but I think it’s more her own fear of being tossed away that comes into play. 

That being said, as mentioned before, I really think that overall, the two of them have enough history together that they really…ARE linked no matter what. Like, there isn’t anyone alive who can really touch the history these two have with one another by the end of everything.

As has been established, Margrid owns multiple Veggie Tales albums. Meanwhile, Orléans seems to be focused more or less on 80s-esque music. Most of the time, the ~9 year age gap between them isn’t really THAT obvious, especially given that they’re both old enough that it really doesn’t matter all that much in terms of overall maturity, but when it comes to music tastes, it suddenly REALLY comes out.

My big brain is saying that Orléans is a Very Serious Villain who does Villainy Things™ and that I should therefore give him some level of respect. My crack brain, however, is saying that he totally gets matching Christmas sweaters for the two of them. It’s ridiculous. He sends a Christmas card to Louis and Antoinette, “accidentally” addressing Fersen instead of Louis. It’s the pettiest fucking Christmas card to ever exist. He signs it with a little smile emoticon.

Margrid has never really been able to celebrate the holidays in any meaningful way, and even though she doesn’t SHOW it, she’s thrilled.

On one hand, I’m a sucker for Orléans being the big spoon and Margrid being the little spoon, with her unconsciously finding herself cuddling closer to him. Later, she wakes up to find his arm still slung over her, possibly pressing a kiss to his wrist while she thinks he’s not looking. Maybe at some point, he presses an unusually chaste kiss to her bare shoulder. 

On the other hand, Big spoon Margrid who slips into bed next to him, her whole body curling around his because of the height difference. Maybe she does that Thing where she drapes a leg around his. Maybe she sometimes nuzzles into the nape of his neck when she thinks he’s not looking.

Though, I personally ALSO like them generally falling asleep facing one another so that they can both periodically wake up and go through all the Emotions of seeing the other one there, vulnerable, and go “Oh my God, that happened, oh my God.” Both of them thinking about it after the fact, when everything’s gone to Hell, Orléans between taking the Dauphin away and the Trial, Margrid as he’s being dragged away, knowing that he HAD to go down because otherwise he’d have dragged her down but wondering what the Hell happened to them.

It’s hard to say who STARTS the most because, while Margrid is the most obviously in your face about it, he tends to be the smoldering resentment sort, so it tends to build up, though they really rarely fight. The thing that makes the Incident With The Dauphin, as much as I don’t particularly LIKE to deal with it for obvious reasons, so terrible is that it’s such a huge BREAK for them. She goes to him and tries to get him to stand down, and she’s pretty bold about being willing to get in his face, which indicates that she has no personal fear of being willing to draw that line with him and say “You’re fucking up,” but he doesn’t listen. But it’s pretty obvious, at least to me, that at some point, he MIGHT have listened, or at least that Margrid thought she had a decent chance that he would. 

I don’t like the scene, I don’t particularly like TALKING about the scene because it’s probably hands down one of the single most disturbing scenes in the show and it’s not something that I particularly want to trivialize (and I’m obviously going to lean towards the Hungarian anyway, because a part of me has a really, really hard time believing that Orléans would throw Margrid off to the side, which I know is a very funny line to draw given everything ELSE about that scene and the various and assorted things that Orléans does in-canon that I accept with no problems, but there it is), but...it’s a major turning point in their relationship and it’s also really telling about what their relationship’s NORMALLY like, before it took that nosedive. 

 who suggests that they buy a pet

A draw. Orléans has hunting animals and race horses, and I could totally see him trying to get Margrid into having a lap dog or something similar. On the other hand, Margrid’s statistically more likely to see some random dog/cat on the streets with sad eyes, go “Fuck off,” and then when it tries to follow her home is just like “Okay, I guess you’re coming too.” 

Can you imagine her just BURYING her face in its fur when it’s all over? Because it doesn’t understand why it’s not seeing Papa anymore, since, despite all of his many, many flaws, Orléans did spoil the damn thing. And it tries to comfort her by licking her face, which just makes her cry harder because, even though it IS her animal, it’s still so closely intertwined with her history with Orléans that it’s a reminder and the whole thing’s just so raw still and the dog’s the last thing that she really has in her life. Her sister’s dead, Orléans’ dead, Fersen is off God knows where because he only ever REALLY cared about Antoinette even though he felt compassion for her. She still has her people in the crowd, but she’s seen that same crowd call for blood so many times that she can never look at them the same way again.

what couple traditions they have

Reading the papers as soon as they’re off the press together, sitting together closely enough that their knees are brushing. Probably playing footsie the whole damn time. 

Margrid and he also tend to work on correspondence together, particularly when they’re appropriately relaxed. From smashing. She can often be found propped on top of his back, with the two of them going back and forth on what he’s going to put in his latest letter. 

what tv shows they watch together

Game of Thrones, How to Get Away with Murder, HBO’S Rome, Revenge, Scandal, House of Cards…you know. Romantic series like that. 

what other couple they hang out with

NOT Antoinette/Fersen. Instead, they actually have grudgingly become bros with Peyronan, sharing some of the same issues re: class, political differences, etc. Though Lazare is physically incapable of addressing Orléans as anything less than “Your Highness.” 

how they spend time together as a couple

Plotting the downfall of the monarchy, walking Palais Royal together (sometimes catching a street performance if they’re lucky), trying to out-play each other at chess, going to air balloon demonstrations (which they ALSO share in common with another interclass relationship from this time, causing some amount of awkwardness whenever they meet up, since Peyrol is a HUGE proponent of hot air balloons for military purposes) taking part in riots against the crown. You know, all the usual couply things you’d expect.

who made the first move

As has been discussed last time, Orléans, the thot. One of the interesting things that I’ve actually taken away from rereading bits of Les Liaisons Dangereuse is that kissing on the hand was a particularly intimate gesture. Not quite on the same level as kissing on the mouth, obviously, but definitely something that denoted a certain level of closeness and familiarity above simply taking a hand, something that bordered on reverence. (I’m not saying that the writers INTENDED for that meaning to him trying to kiss her hand, but I’m taking it for what it’s worth.) But, when Margrid turned him down, he let it rest until she took things to the next level. And the level after that. And the level after THAT.

Margrid, though she’s really more a “throw something in the microwave” type for the most part. It’s still impressive compared to SOMEONE who leaves that kind of thing to servants.
