okay I have to hear your thoughts on the how to train your dragon series (movies, not books)
You are asking a dragon fanatic what they think of the critically acclaimed immensely popular highly beloved dragon movies, what do you think i'm gonna say? Obviously I adore them!
Storylines about learning to love monsters are 100000% my thing, and when those monsters are dragons? No contest, one of my favorite movie series of all time. Will always have a soft spot for stories about coming to love what you once found monstrous, even though nothing about it has changed--the dragons are the same as they always were, they've simply changed their perceptions and reactions to them and opened a whole new world.
And just!! the relationships!! I'm thinking specifically between Hiccup and Toothless, as that kind of unconditional support and love, complementing each other in ways only those involved will ever truly understand get to me. the bond between the boy who downed a dragon and then saved it and the dragon who learned to trust him and defend him like a part of himself, who become something more through the combination of selfs, is something that can actually be so personal.
Ambivalent on the third movie, though I understand what it was going for. On the one hand, love dragons. On the other, they were quite...ridiculously characterized and also all left. so. also maybe it was just me, but they seemed more anthropomorphized in the third? or at least toothless was, and I would've preferred him a little more draconic.--but the first two? absolutely lovely <3

Apparently I can meet my goal of roughly 400,000 words in 6 months if I just somehow write at least 2,200 words a day ghbjh... Almost 2,500 today... huzzah...
#Definitely not going to be able to stick with it just due to like... being realistic about my energy levels and etc. ESPECIALLY as we#enter the Evil Summer and it becomes hot all the time. But... one can attempt.. at least...#I'm also a very slow writer since I tend to re-read and edit while I write. and only move onto the next section once what I'm writing#seems okay. Which is easy for visual novel type stuff. since ''sections'' of a conversation are more clearly marked (like if you#have a menu option with 5 different dialogue choices. finish the character's response for choice 1 before moving onto 2. etc.)#Especially since when I'm done with a whole quest I always follow it up by playing through it and picking every option and making sure it#actually all works okay and etc. So I am already going to see it all a second time. Then I can go back and reorder a few words or remove#certain sentences that don't sound natural when I read them out loud (I always read it all outloud to myself since it is... just peple#talking.. it should sound like natural dialogue in their voice. etc). But my ''first draft'' is kind of not as first drafty since I pause t#edit a lot as I go along. So it also takes longer probably than it would take other people who I think treat a first draft as more#of a loose guideline or something. AANYWAY...#80F in my bedroom right now again... huzzah... I did end up finishing and recording that sims build video before the heat wave (or is#it really a heat wave if it's just summer..?? lol) came in.. but now... augh.. the editing... plus the costume photos and all else... woooo my niece took 5 of my 13 lego sets, one of which was one of the three larger ones, so that's one huge box out of the way and i'm just glad she wanted them because like they ARE twenty years old and they look fine ofc but sometimes kids aren't gonna want stuff that isn't new and shiny ya know, but she did seem to want everything which would've been fine with me but i knew there was no way they would take all that with them, and at least i still have stuff of my own to sell, plus should get at least a cut of my brother's stuff for doing the inventory and putting together that stuff that wasn't already done
#i mentioned the hp sets and how they had been pretty much left together and he was like '....i had harry potter sets?'#which once he saw them he did think they were familiar which was some of my feeling with mine#like oh YEAH i do remember these i just didn't remember having so many#i mean between 13 sets it's really like 3 categories so i would've played with like the whole ice palace and its related sets#i do just wonder how it'll be at the store like everything is pretty much in fine shape#and probably there are people who want older stuff that's rarer and whatever now#BUT then there might be more of a demand for newer stuff at a better price or whatever idk#anyway 6 sets left in the upstairs and then the bionicles and statue of liberty are still in the attic#i'm still not convinced there couldn't be another box somewhere bc idk how to explain the few sets#that are missing so much that i can't actually do them bc even if we had gotten rid of some why would we not include the huge base or w/e#anyway we'll see! but i'm getting closer! and i did a little one this morning#that seemed to be complete it didn't list some of the pieces as extras but based on the instructions i figure they have to be#so i don't really need them like i'll include them if i find them and they're not needed for something else but yeah#anyway i can go back to fic though these first two at least are short so i may be going back to another one tomorrow#can't wait to have my room back though fr like#it is not the only thing making it feel messy because i have newer jewelry and clothes and stuff that i just have to organize and put away#but man the jewelry situation is just. it's not even having so many pieces it's like big earrings that take up a lot of space or whatever#so i just have not wanted to deal with it but it's kinda out of hand#but i can really think about that after this particular project is done#and do puzzles again oh my god i have 3 puzzles waiting for me at least#plus my mom always has a bunch to be done since everyone knows to buy her puzzles lol but that has also gotten out of hand#i wouldn't mind getting rid of a couple of mine though just bc it is like okay you do it but then you just have it and it takes up space#would be cool to have pretty ones framed tho

The time between finishing a chapter and waiting for betas to look over it so I can post it is like the days between christmas and new years where reality doesn't exist and you get to do whatever you want

becoming a data hoarder of crochet/knitting/sewing/embroidery patterns and books on my pc, laptop and phone. an ungodly amount fr.
#also finding good patterns for like 2 dollars at thrift stores and getting books out from the library has been VERY helpful#and so many have maker spaces#where you can sew/weave/embroider/whatever#the one at my local library is mega cool#cos the council realized the suburb next to mine (mine is too small to have a village center like the others so theirs is ours)#had been promised a new mall makeover and a new pool and a new bunch of stuff#and hadnt been given anything in like. decades.#and is also a suburb where a lot of working class and low income families live#so they went ''okay we should. do something and actually support this section''#and thats how we got our new million dollar suburb center building with a new library/cafe/preschool/pool/maker space#and suddenly people have a reason to stay in the area and spend more time at shops and have a study space#available right next to a park and a place for community and information!!!#and everyone is happier and spending more money at the surrounding shops because theyre visiting more often#like that whole project took 2 years but it was so worth it the maker space rules its got a recording booth and a 3dprintet and an engraver#a loom and all these other woodcraft/textile stuff#and i see teenagers from the 3 surrounding schools coming in to record music and/or rent out instruments!#and do carving and sewing and book clubs!!#and have a place to study!#when i was in hs we would walk down to the mall get sushi and sit in a field bcos there was nothing to do#now people from the same high school i have can access all this stuff!#and more online to print out#and partake in healthy hobbies and its like fuck!!! it makes me so happy!!!#all this to say if anyone wants a pattern for smth i can probs find a free one/one costing a few dollars by an indie creator

Tbh i don't know what to think of AI art anymore. I don't find any utility, personally, in centring the discussion on law and copyright; there are far more interesting things to discuss on the topic beyond its use as a replacement for human artists/workforce by the upper class
#rambling#i am not saying i think using AI image generation to replace human artists and leave them jobless is a good thing - i do think that is bad#there are real concern on the ethics of its use and creation of image generation models#but i think focusing only on things like how ''off'' or ''inhuman'' it looks or how ''soulless'' it is are not only surface level complaint#but also call to question again the age old debate of what is art and what isn't and why some art is and why some isn't#and also the regard of painting and other forms of visual art production as somehow above photography in the general conscience#i would love to really talk about these things with people but talking about ai art and image generation is a gamble between talking to#an insufferable techbro who only sees profits and an artist who shuts the whole idea off without nuisance#i have seen wonderful projects by human artists using ai image generation software in creative ways for example#are those projects not art? if they are are they only art because they were made by someone already regarded as an artist?#there are also cool ai-generated images by random people who don't regard themselves as artists. are they art? why or why not?#the way AI image generation works - using vast arrays of image samples to create a new image with - has been cited#as a reason why ai-generated images aren't ''real art''. but is that not just a computer-generated collage? is it not real because it was#made by an algorithm?#if i - a human artist - get a bunch of old magazines and show them to an algorithm to generate new things from them#or to suggest ways in which new things could be made#and then i took those suggestions and cut the magazines and made the collage by hand. is that still art? did it at some point become art#or cease to be art?#i think these things are far more intriguing and important to get to the root of ethical AI usage in the 21st century than focusing on laws

#uploads#fashion#fibres#the color is kinda weird but i like it alot that really washed out wine red#gonna fuck around with this more still myb do a little bleaching and some more dying but for now she rests#also shrunk a bunch lowkey after i washed it so hope i can stretch it back out a bit we will see#reflecting several hours later now that its mostly dry and i got to try it on#i think the color looks kinda washed out cause i wrung it out really realyl hard when i was washing it#i feel like that wasnt super smart cause i do wish it was a bit darker but also maybe i just need a darker dye mix#but i really was squeezing that shit to get the water out and i think it probably desaturated the color a bit#lessons for next time#also rewrote and made a edited version of the pattern ive been working with so its more my own#changed a couple things so im gonna try and make another sweater soon i think#gotta figure out what wool i wanna use maybe ill go back to the galler yarns WOW wool but also the mohair was really nice#i have a ton of fine alpaca but ive been using that for my woven project instead and its alot thinner#idk how it would look esp cause im using such big needles#maybe i could size down and try that but id have to really figure out a whole new pattern n knit counts idk maybe#anyway just thinking out loud cause its 5am and i cant sleep but i also cant work on sweater anymore cause its just chilling#n i need bleach n some other stuff#also gonna knit a trim for the bottom and sleeves fuck weaving it thats too hard#but then im gonna have to figure out how to dye it so it matches but uhhh haha idk#good thing its kinda a tester
