Bianca, Tiger Among Ice Floes

Bianca, also known as コユキ or Koyuki in Japanese/Mizuno, is a peppy tiger villager from the Animal Crossing series. For being one who swims in waters so cold, it’s amazing she isn’t an ice cube at this point. Maybe her transformation helped her in more than one way!

Compared to other merfolk, Bianca tends to be more.. traditional. Not shells, though, just bands. Something different, and actually, fitting! Would you believe it.. eh, whatever.

Whenever she heads into the town square, she certainly appears distinctive, and she likes that, actually. Being something of her own is cool, she thinks.

Her birthday is on December 13.

That's the final character here! So many of you have been awaiting for the final, I've been thinking about having a Pokémon be a mermaid, so for now on, I chose Incineroar, the Fire-Type tiger & you know why? Because…...I've figured myself out! Now that I'm done over him & everyone's ready, I would like to make the biggest mural of Mermay 2023 in this picture of all 31! Yoooooo catmaids nope no I need to come up with another name, um uhh merlines? Can get confused with my boy Merlin and also marlins like the fish ummm maybe mercats Occam’s razor am I right (I like merlines from a taxonomical perspective so this parenthesis chain is gonna try to build on that. I am thinking Merfelines is better than merlines, gonna do some of these [merfelidae is one family for simplicity]: first for the big mercats, Merpanthera is the genus, so the mertiger is Merpanthera Tigris, merlion is Merpanthera Leo, I thinks that’s a jaguar [not good at all the spotted ones] so Merpanthera Onca. The rest look like house mercats so that would be Merfelis Catus.)

I just finished designing and making a mermaid tail leather keychain based off of Mer Tiger, as well as @toothpaste-dragon 's Mip! I absolutely love how both of these came out! i'm keeping the Tiger one, and Mip's is gonna go to Toothpaste! Plus, I've decided I want to take custom tail keychain commissions! A redesign of my oc Dismas, and how I draw merhogs in general tbh. He's not as tiny in leg form as in the past, but mostly so it makes more sense with his arms XD He do still be the tiniest character I have though.

He's also technically a hybrid between two types of merhogs. One was the typical hedgehog merhog, the other was a direnian one who would be smth like mertigers, instead of a hedgehog being the base it's another animal. Thus, Dismas has a different nose.

Guess who got another update? (please, please he's holding me hostage, I beg of you, I can't take all these redesigns anymore, PLEASE-) Decided to only post these as sketches cause oh my god the work simply sketching them was waaay too much XD But with these sketches come updates to the Auros AU regarding Cobalt Children and the Merhog Population in general! Trying to keep this short here:

The Cobalt Children are for anyone not in the know, a special type of merhog who basically descended from moths and Exodius is one of them. They have gone through many design changes in the past because I was never quite sure how to do them, but it has been currently settled with a thin winged glass like look.These "wings" they have though are just very large fins. While majestic, they cannot fly at all and usually droop to the floor like a cape on land. Merhogs also now have *gasps* clothes?!Indeed, at least the Merhog city Thalassos now has clothes to sell for our lovely merhogs to cover up some more and give them a certain flair to their personalities than just colorful fish scales. They are also capable of shapeshifting! Since many merhogs have some type of way to getting two legs. There is a lot more to tell about Merhogs, from the city Thalassos, to Cobalt Children, to the Mertigers of Direne and more! But getting back to Exodius, with his cobalt design updated, his Grown Version in his sheet here gets some updates too:

It isn't much, but the grown version's back fins change to fit this merhog version instead, so do the scale colors on his legs. Less noticeable, but still, there is the change to his gauntlet arm. The pink section here has darkened to be the same pinkish red as his tail. That should be it, and I hope you guys like these 4, even if they're just sketches.

Physicists discover new material for highly efficient data processing

A new material could aid in the development of extremely energy efficient IT applications. The material was discovered by an international research team in cooperation with Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU). The electrons at the oxide interface of the material possess special properties that drastically increase the conversion rate of spin current to charge current. This is the foundation for future spintronic applications. The new material has been found to be more efficient than any previously investigated material, the team writes in the journal Nature Materials.

Electric current flows through all technical devices. Heat is generated and energy is lost. Spintronics explores new approaches to solving this issue that utilize a special property of electrons: spin. This is a type of intrinsic angular momentum of electrons that generates a magnetic torque and it is what causes magnetism. The idea behind spintronics is: If spin current flows through a material instead of an electrical charge, no heat is generated and significantly less energy is lost in the device.

"However, this approach still requires an electric current for the device to work. Therefore, an efficient spin-to-charge conversion is necessary for this novel technology to work," explains Professor Ingrid Mertig, a physicist at MLU. Her research group is part of the international research team that discovered the new material. The work was led by the French physicist Dr. Manuel Bibes, who conducts research at the renowned institute Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) - Thales.
