Richard chuckled when Grant called him a nerd. From what he had seen Grant could be one too. But he was more interested to hear what grand plans Grant had then to talk about Grant's obvious nerd tendencies. It wasn't a surprise to hear he had a lot of plans. The bloke really went at things full stream. Maybe a little disappointed to know that Grant really was serious about politics which killed any chance, except there wasn't any chance. It was just more confirmation that there wasn't a chance. Yet that didn't stop a moment of wondering about the Cisco bloke again. Before he reminded himself that Grant was straight so no nothing going on there. No matter how good looking the older bloke was. He smiled a little wider when Grant talked about Texas and helping Democrats get elected. He wondered what had happened with Grant's campaign memo. Instead of asking he found the conversation back to him again. "No. Whiz does the running. It's less complicated for me to be behind the scenes. I'll be doing my duty to the crown." Which wasn't what he wanted but thta was the life of a prince, it wasn't about what he wanted. It was about his duty to the crown. Which was fine. He was mostly at peace with that. "But in five years or so I might come back, get a masters." That would be more or less useless but he'd enjoy the getting it part.
Huh. Despite his hunch that Richard hadn't seemed excited about graduation, Grant was still surprised to learn he'd been right in guessing as much. Then again, Richard was a giant nerd. So maybe his answer that he was disappointed he wouldn't get to every class he wanted to take was all there was to it. "Nerd," Grant told him with a cheeky grin that turned sheepish as Richard continued. He let out a sheepish chuckle. "I mean, yeah, it'll be nice to be in the same timezone as everything I want to be part of. But that's the part I'm really excited about. Getting to finally, fully be part of democracy in action. I'm angling for a spot on my mom's re-election campaign. And then, hopefully she does get re-elected but even still, I couldn't be a staffer for her, that'd look bad. Wouldn't want to work for my dad for the same reason. But Cisco said there's a job on his team for me if I want it. And I think there's some democratic senators and reps I could talk into hiring me too. Or I might just want to keep doing campaign work for a while, join a team for midterms. Maybe try to help some other Texas Democrats get elected. I'm just excited to get involved for real." He grinned as he spoke, enthusiasm creeping into his voice as he thought about all his plans for the future--plans that were finally almost in reach. Just two more semesters. "What's your plan after graduation? Running your and Whiz's charity?"
