Collecting some thoughts on veilguard cause tbh I really don’t know how to feel lmao so. Unstructured ramble time
I’ve watched the trailer and the demo and I feel very. Idk? Still ‘wait and see’ mode for me. It’s been 10 years. Inquisition imo was the weakest of the 3. And while I have kind of moved on from DA there is a part of me that wants this to just blow everything out of the water and be amazing. I’m just not sure if that’s what I think will happen. Right now, I just think it doesn’t feel dragon age-y enough (in terms of what I, personally, consider the defining traits of the series) but I don’t want to jump to conclusions with so little information
The trailer was. Fine. Vibes were a little off but given its Varric narrating, it makes sense (also. Unpopular opinion lmao. I love Varric but I don’t think he should be a companion again. If there’s a carry over companion, it should have been Dorian. And tbh he could still be there, considering they said 7 companions but Varric is not included in that. So did they mean 7 *new* companions and maybe a few others? Advisors again maybe? Idk. Maybe Varric is a temporary companion, but I don’t think he should be there except maybe as a cameo. Scout Harding is an unexpected but fine carry over though). I don’t really have an opinion yet on the companions themselves cause there’s just. Nothing to base an opinion on other than the character designs
Gameplay demo shows that they’re definitely going very Inquisition-y. As in, continuing further down the path it started. Which isn’t unexpected, but is a bit disappointing, though not necessarily a dealbreaker as of yet. It’s probably smart tbh to go more in an action rpg direction than back to the crpg roots given it’s going to be compared to bg3 no matter what they do - better to differentiate as much as possible. Though I don’t think that’s why they did it, probably more a happy accident. I just. Idk, I found inquisitions combat a bit boring and I haven’t been impressed by what I’ve seen yet. But a 20 minute demo is probably not enough to really form an opinion
I feel like you can still see the echoes of this being a live service game at one point too. Healing potions coming from pots found in the environment (I never got over healing spells being cut btw lmao, bring back spirit healers already), the “ability wheel” (unsure about that too, given it sounds like we can’t control companion characters anymore? Kinda really don’t like that :/), stuff like that. I still feel like DA2 combat was the perfect balance between fluidity and strategy but it is what it is. It performed badly, so they’ve disregarded it wholesale rather than consider that some aspects of it may still be worth exploring. It sucks, but that’s capitalism I guess
As for all the other little things, idk, I really am not sure what to think yet lmao. Some sound good. Some less good (why only 2 companions, I don’t like that at all - also weird that the demo shows you won’t have a tank for the initial bit of the game. That’s a weird choice). Nothing to make me go aaaaaa either positively or negatively yet. I don’t even know what to say. My feelings are just so complicated about it, but also kinda empty at the same time. Like. It’s a bit of kombucha girl meme but also muted? I would like to feel just. More about it. But I don’t yet. I’m too unsure. Not quite numb, but almost tbh
At this stage, I feel like I’m gonna wait till it comes out and see what happens. No pre-ordering until I get a better idea. It’s like. With origins, I’ve played it a lot. DA2, even more - countless times lmao. Inquisition though, I played 2.5 times immediately after release and have tried to play it multiple times since but. I only ever get 10-20 hours in before I get bored and can’t make myself continue. I’ve tried many, many times and idk why but I just can’t do it. I never even played any of the DLC, so like. I kinda need to do that first if I’m gonna play veilguard but I have never succeeded before so idk how I will now lmao. But I feel like at least trespasser is necessary and I have genuinely never played it. And I gotta play the rest of the game first to get there and I genuinely don’t know if I can sksksjs
And with that in mind like. If inquisition is that unappealing to me, a game that feels very inquisition-y, potentially leaning even more into the stuff I didn’t like about it, is. Definitely not what I was hoping for. It’s still possible it’s leagues better than inquisition and actually playing it will be a great experience. But right now I just don’t know. I probably won’t be able form any kind of opinion until it comes out and I start getting info from trusted folks that I know have good DA opinions lmao
Idk. I’m not trying to be a wet blanket or a hater, and I genuinely don’t think I am being a hater at all, but I am just. Very tired and nervous. But also cautiously hopeful. I’ve said ‘idk’ a lot lmao but I truly don’t know at this stage. I guess we’ll see. Let’s hope it’s actually amazing and the very thing we need to make the series as a whole feel like it used to for us lapsed DA fans

Hate Like Ours: Yandere Dabi
Tumblr media
You couldn't rest until he was DEAD.
No matter how much it hurt. And God, did it HURT. Every moment, every DAY. A fucking reminder of what that BASTARD had DONE to you. Your fucking so called Father.
Ha! What a joke.
A so called Heroooo~☆! Moral and true! He would NEVER abuse his own KID! NEVER abuse the power he held over them for his own GAIN! Don't be SILLY, sweetie! You're just GRUMPY. Like a FUCKING TODDLER. Now do as you're told and DIE FOR US!
You'll kill him.
You'll KILL HIM!
If it's the last thing you ever do.
No matter the pain. The failing lungs. The brittle bones and bruising skin. The agony of each fucking step. You'll hunt him down. Show him EXACTLY what sort of monster he's made. He RUINED you. Took EVERYTHING! You were just a KID! A KID!! And he USED YOU.
Whored out your Quirk until there was nothing let to give!
Thought he could dump you in some hospital to DIE like a dirty little secret! As though you'd be a good little girl and take his crimes to the grave for him! Fuck that. Fuck HIM and everyone who KNEW something was wrong, KNEW something didn't add up, and looked the fucking other way!
Fuck so called Heros.
Everyone thinks healing quirks are some magical god damned gift from god. The ticket to a better life. A guaranteed life of doting and being catered too. HA! Ha ha HA HA HA!!!
Try endless emotional manipulation! You don't want this person to DIE do you? It would be YOUR FAULT! You just have to try a little bit longer! I know you feel sick, honey, but look how much PAIN they're in! Don't be SELFISH. Just one more.
Oh! And let's not forget the SOURCE. Where do you think all that fuel COMES FROM? Not every Quirk is like Recovery Girl's! Hell, she's an OUTLIER! It's why she's FUCKING FAMOUS! She can heal and heal and HEAL for DAYS. Other people? Have to STOP.
Or they'll DIE.
But tell that to DEAR OL DAD! Did HE care? No! He got the golden goose, then abused it til it DROPPED! It's FINE! He'll just pump another one out of his wife! To HELL with what he's done!
Your Quirk ATE YOU ALIVE. He KNEW it was doing it. In bits and pieces, your stamina, your strength, your muscles and organs. Past the point of no return. Past the point any amount of rest could FIX. But, HEY! At least he got his little promotion in the ranks! At least HE benefits!
You'll kill him.
As you slowly, painfully, put one foot infront of another. That's what keeps you going. You're going to KILL him. No matter what it takes. All you need to do... ALL YOU NEED TO DO! Is get him immobile long enough to RIP the life out of HIM.
Because, oooooh ho ho! That's RIGHT! Hospital beds and agony gave you time to THINK. If you can PUSH? Surely you can PULL right? Pull and pull and PULL all that health away? Take BACK what was stolen? He should PAY. He's GONNA pay.
They ALL will.
There! After walking for so long. Plotting for so long. The BASTARD. Getting chummy with Endeavor. Ha ha! Trash really does call to trash, huh? He never could resist ass kissing. Pity he doesn't have his pet healer to whore out anymore.
It's time.
The grin on your face, trapped beneath your oxygen mask, must be something ugly and terrible to behold. You feel insane. The world sharp. The crowd between you and him immaterial. You'll take them too! Take ALL OF IT! Ha ha! Why not?! All you need to do is-!
An almost burning hot hand grabs the back of your stolen hoodie and yanks, hard. You go crashing back and to the ground in a clatter of oxygen tank, cords, and quickly bruising limbs. You sprained something. You can FEEL it. Possibly cracked bone. The pain is so much worse.
You wheeze, barely manage to roll over to face your attacker.
Burned skin and burning eyes. Staples barely holding beautiful ruin together. Grin? Or baring teeth? He crouchs, looming, his eyes too intent as he informs you that Endeavor is HIS. You were stepping on toes. Ah. Got it.
You tell him that you want Regenerate. Not Endeavor. Apologize for the mix up, you didn't know if there was like... a formal way to declare that, oooor...
He laughs. Then asks the million yen question. How are you going to kill Regenerate, busted up as you are? You're kinda miffed. You WERE going to walk up and suprise attack him. Maybe use the crowd as a boost. But now? You'll be lucky to stand under your own power. Asshole.
He prods you for answers. You're kinda trapped on the disgusting ground, so like? Why the fuck not? Might as well. Your health was transferred away. You got used as fuel. Regenerate is your bastard of a sperm donor and you plan to deliver unto him, what he did to YOU. But you have to be able to MOVE for that.
The burned man above you tilts his head in consideration. Leans back, looking around, before rising to his feet. With a smirk, he tell you not to go anywhere.
Ooooh fuuuuuck YOU!
He knows DAMN well you can't move! Well, maybe crawl. But you're not there YET. You ARE curious to see what Hot N Staple-y has planned though...
He comes back. Dragging an unconscious Sidekick.
.......okay that's kinda hot. He then OFFERS you the unconscious Sidekick. Which? You take it back. REALLY hot. You manage to move your arm. Slap your hand against the fucker's face. Aaaand? Just like you practiced....?
Oh...
Like kitten fluff against the soul. Warm soup on a cold day. Relief. Pain stopping and aches you've leaned to live with, ending. You can MOVE. You... God, you could CRY. You sit up. It... for the first time in MONTHS, it's EASY.
You're not sure what expression your making. But you don't care. You thank the burn guy. Genuinely. He seems to get it. Tells you his name.
Dabi.
He seems to think you'll be seeing more if each other. And..? Yeah. Yeah you can see that. You'd work well together. Heck, with enough Health? You could probably do something about those burns. Might be nice. Teaming up. He seems pretty level headed, experienced. Maybe he could show you the ropes.
We could get our revenge.
Together.

Shigaraki x Male Reader | I'm back!!
WARNINGS: Omegaverse, omega reader, mentions of reader having a child(not explicitly explained to be an orphan), oh yeah found family trope, from the period when Shigaraki was in the tank, only he was fully incubated and had time to plan an attack, mentions of patriarchy and talking down of the reader, Shigaraki reminds you of your worth, mentions of up coming war, y/n used
WC: 2,038
Two weeks before the breach, both Shigaraki and Y/N were now in a meeting with deemed leaders and their group platoons. The omega taking the conversation and main points as both a leader and on sight healer. A large table surrounded by 15 people, Shigaraki right beside the omega as he instructed the set plan.
The alpha stayed silent and attentive as he watched his mate, more than impressed at the omega's leadership and the way that he was able to handle everyone around him so well. The alpha would keep an eye out of the villains, not allowing attention to stray away from the job at hand. The alpha would observe how everyone would interact with the omega and how the meeting would progress.
"…with all that being said, we’ll have one last meeting two days before our attack. I will see you all there." Y/N closes the meeting with that statement, the rest of the villains simply replying with a nod or ignoring him entirely before exiting the room. The omega now collecting his notes, organizing the mess of papers on the large desk before him.
Shigaraki couldn’t help but look over the omega, admiration blooming through his chest at the sight of him. "You worked quite fast while I was gone, didn’t you?" The alpha chuckled softly at his own words and the smile on his face became wider. Y/N’s gaze flickers up at the white-haired alpha, smiling smugly. Shuffling the papers in a folder as he replies.
"I do what I can.." He seats himself on the large table, legs crossed at the ankle and arms draped down the tabletop, eyes admiring Shigaraki closely as he continues. "All things considered, they actually were listening this time around instead of questioning my authority as an omega."
A rocky feeling within Shigaraki sinks from Y/N’s words, "They can see that you have a genuine leadership quality, they should be grateful that you to lead them.." He looks away for a second to think for a bit in which he would come to the realization that the meeting had gone smoothly. "You did an amazing job, so you should allow yourself to be very proud because you truly deserve to be."
Y/N shakes his head, gaze hollow and dismissive. "I’m not the reason why they were attentive. It’s because you’re here. If you weren’t, I would’ve had an ear full of what I should be doing instead of leading an army." Shigaraki's eyes would widen in surprise for how dismissive the omega was about it all, he was just too humble and kind for his own good.
With a sigh, he stands up from the desk reaching to grasp Shigaraki’s hand with careful fingers, leading the two out. The alpha would just smile lightly at Y/N's comment, his voice becoming soft as his hand was now clasped with the other man's hand. "I know that…because of me you get so much more respect, my presence alone commands the attention of everyone but…to be completely honest, your words and commands always carry more weight than mine."
The omega knew better than to believe what the alpha had said, sure he had some good ideas and ways of attacking, but he also knew that no one would truly listen to him. No matter how true and correct he was, they only saw him as an omega. "I’ll just take your word for it.."
Shigaraki took quick notice of Y/N's tone, hush and dejected than the usual. This situation truly bothered the omega and the alpha couldn't help but feel a spike of annoyance towards the villains for dismissing the other man's efforts in terms of leadership. "Hey…" The alpha's voice came out soft and gentle as he got Y/N's attention.
The man’s head turns to face Shigaraki, eyes gleaming in question yet dulled by thoughts of doubt. He stops walking in the long hallway, awaiting the white haired leader's words. Shigaraki turned his entire body to face the omega, his gaze gentle and fondly held in the Y/N's eyes as he began to speak. "The way they act…it bothers you."
"What bothers me is that I provide housing for them and food on their table only for them to defame me, tell me to go back home and make more pups.” Y/N answered, annoyance at the difficulty he’s been facing for the past few months as leader. Shigaraki felt nothing but slight disgust rise inside his rib cage, the poor omega is giving them a place to stay and food to eat. Yet, all he gets for it is complaints and insults.
The alpha's voice reverberates in a sharper tone. "And what would happen if you actually did leave and left them to fend for themselves? What happens if you finally put your foot down and make them see the consequences from their actions?"
Answering with aggravation entwining with his words. "I have, I ripped a few to pieces and left there heads on sticks outside their living compounds. And they continued to tell me how overemotional I was being and how I was acting more like a child than a leader-“
Y/N then released a heavy sigh, shaking his head. Cutting himself off before continuing. "Sorry…I-I just want them to listen and respect my words wholeheartedly.” Shigaraki would shake his head slightly at what an ungrateful group of individuals the villains are, he couldn't believe how rude they were despite not only your good intentions.
“What if I offered you an alternative?"
"What kind of offer?" He asked curiously, taking a few more breaths to calm himself down. The alpha would stay silent for a bit, he was still thinking of how to put it into words without sounding too rude, it was a bold offer after all.
“What if I told you that you can have something more, something where you can truly be a leader and a king.” Shigaraki's red eyes would be filled with nothing but confidence, he knew his offer would entice and interest the omega. But, he wanted to take his time to explain everything so that his offer would be heard without any misunderstandings.
"You know how we've discussed taking things to the next level…to bring our plan to action and do what we set out to accomplish originally. That is still our goal, right?"
Y/N nods, confusion still etched on his face as he tries to piece together the man's words. "Big reset on the world, I remember.” His eyes squinted at Shigaraki's question. "What are you planning, Tomura?” The alpha's eyes would now be filled with excitement at the idea of Y/N being on board with the plan. Shigaraki would then lean forward into the omega's space, wanting to get his attention to show the full magnitude of his words.
"Then you also remember how I said that I would love it if you wanted to come and play with me, to be on my side during this plan, right?"
"Yeah, that hasn’t changed. What are you getting?” Y/N answered honestly. The alpha let out a small chuckle at the stubborn confusion of the omega. Shigaraki smiled, taking a small step forward before reaching out his hand to grasp the Y/N's face before looking down at him with a serious demeanor.
"I want you to lead my army. You can be the next leader in our new world, the omega that will lead us to victory.” Shigaraki paused, his hand on the omega's face as he looked into his eyes. Hand moving to the Y/N's shoulder before speaking up.
"You would be my general, I would keep you safe, support and give you everything necessary to lead us into victory. You won't have to lead those ungrateful villains just because that is what they expect you to do, you can do it your own way.” The omega was silent after the offer, the warm of radiation of the other man's hands moving from his cheeks to his shoulders tethered his subconscious to not overthinking. He blinks, weighing out the pros and cons.
"I…I’m not made to rule, sure I’ve been a leader for a handful of months. But I can’t rule over people, that would defeat the purpose of what we’re fighting.” Y/N gently answered back, slight hesitation in the omega's words. A sadly normal occurrence for the omega.
"But you're not ruling, you're leading. Sure, people might listen and obey my words, but they would listen and would obey yours as well. You have the qualities of a leader, not only that but you’re kind."
“I-" The omega cuts himself off, his gaze lowers to his fidgeting hands. "What about Mel…with us both leading?" He brings up apprehensively, eyes flickering back up to Shigaraki. His protective instincts flaring up at the idea of leaving the small pup alone during the beginning of the war. The alpha would chuckle to himself a little bit after hearing the omega's concerns about Mel, it was normal for the omega to be concerned about the young one. Shigaraki would nod his head slowly before speaking up after a few moments of silence.
“Mel still doesn't have much fighting skills yet, he might be a smart and fast learner, but that doesn't mean he can lead an army. Plus, I'm sure he would understand if you were given the position of leading the army.” Y/N shakes his head. "That’s not what I meant…" He whispers, his eyes dull over in guilt. "I don’t want him involved."
A moment of surprise would show itself on Shigaraki's face after hearing what the omega had just said, it was true that he had noticed the omega's worry over the young one. Finding out Y/N truly did not want to bring him into the conflict. "We don't even have to put him in any dangerous situations, he would still be safe with us and would still be by our sides…” Y/N scoffs out a laugh, his lips pull in a small smile.
"If you were his age, would you listen to your parents and sit out one if not the most important fight of the century?” Shigaraki didn’t have to think before a slight grin appeared on his mouth. "I would want to be with us, even if it would be dangerous for me to do so. I guess you're right, he wouldn't listen to us if we told him to just sit this one out."
Shigaraki would then move a hand to brush his fingers through the omega's hair, a small gesture of affection before he spoke up further about the topic. “He doesn't have to be out there in the front-line of the battle, but we can't have him sit out from this fight.” Y/N’s ears perked up at the soft brush of fingers, his chest rumbling out low purrs as he nods. "I’m sure we’ll find a perfect place for him.” The omega added his arms soothing over the alpha’s waist.
“There's one last thing…” The alpha would then raise a hand, he would slowly take the omega's hand into his. Shigaraki gazes tenderly towards the omega. "When I make my speech for when this plan takes place, you will be right by my side. I want you to be acknowledged as my general and I want everyone else to know that you're leading them into this final war…okay?"
Y/N's lips lift up to a heart-soaring smile, he chuckles airily. Eyes beginning to gloss over in happy tears before he leans in to kiss the man. Their shared lips pressing tenderly for a moment, purr erupting from both chests as hearts fall in synced. "I’m with you until the end, my king."
Shigaraki's face would turn into a soft happy smile, it was nice to see Y/N's reaction of happiness instead of the usual doubt and distant gaze. The alpha's hands would then move back down to the omega's hands before grabbing his wrists and pulling the man into his arms, holding him tightly and securely. His voice was warm at the touch of the Y/N's lips, he was looking forward to the future the two of them would have.
"Until the very end, my general."

So he needs someone with glorfindel type energy
“Yea babe your super capable and that’s soooo hot now BUT lie on the blanket in This fields of flowers with meeeeeee” or something???
EXACTLY
This is why for a canon character ship for him right now I’m leaning toward Dehya
Tumblr media
Ignore the fact they’ve never met in game (this is me with Baizhu out in my team standing next to her). It’s theoretically possible that they could meet. Dehya is a merc and she goes traveling the world after the end of her main quest and there’s no reason she couldn’t end up in Baizhu’s area.
Reasons they should be a Thing
Bi4Bi
Canonical muscle girlfriend x canonically twinky physically weak boyfriend (he coughs when he sprints!) she could bench press him
Both of them pretend to be all about the money but they both actually care really deeply about people (especially kids)
Dehya pretends to be so tough and spiny and not care but she’s actually a big softie and I can 100% see Baizhu being her weak point.
Dehya has a very dry sense of humor and I think that would pair so well with Baizhu and Changsheng’s sass.
She’s always running off into fights and getting hurt and being like “ehhhh it’s just a scratch what’s the big deal” so there’s huge potential for Baizhu to be constantly exasperated (but fond) with her while patching her up and scolding her about getting into fights
She has experience with chronically ill people (she was a bodyguard for a chronically ill client) and canonically takes zero “no really I’m totally fine” bullshit and WILL sling people over her shoulder to carry them to bed if they’re not feeling well but still trying to push past their spoon limit (which Baizhu does…often…)
Baizhu’s a healer and Dehya is a DPS tank, and I can see Dehya being like “stand back, I’ve got this” while she absolutely wails on some attackers, but the second she takes too many hits Baizhu would RUSH in with his gossamer healing sprites and that gucci shield and be like “okay nope MY TURN” — in short they’d protect each other constantly.
I already have a fic half planned out in my brain of how they meet via Baizhu hiring her as a bodyguard while he does some dangerous ingredient gathering (the bodyguard hiring is against his will but the government in his area wouldn’t give him a permit to go collect in that specific location without extra muscle. Too much of a liability.)
They look hot together.

Roulettes in FF14 are fun because sometimes you have someone passive-aggressive/sarcasm you for fairly minor stuff: not using provoke/ranged attack when pulling mobs as a tank; this is actually the first time ever someone has had this issue with me (unless I misread them) and I only noticed after the dungeon was done they were sarcasming me in chat; they also had the Necromancer title, so I think it's just them wanting for me to play like in a Deep Dungeon and at high level Deep Dungeon at that.
All the guides I've watched also haven't made much of a mention of this, so I assume it is actually not that much of a biggie, though logically I feel it probably makes things a lil bit faster. I just like catching the mobs with my AOEs as I run.
It actually threw me a little off that they were running ahead an aggro-ing the mobs (they were an healer) before me.
On the other hand, sometimes you are lucky enough to get a tank who gives you mitigation once in a blue moon or pulls more than one mob pack.
Honestly, I actually really like the discrepancy. It sometimes helps you learn about the game in unexpected ways and I also enjoy teaching others when I'm confident enough in my knowledge (I have been wrong).
I've felt a little more nervous since losing my sprout because technically I should know a good amount at this point, but sometimes I just do not do well and stumble regardless of any of the knowledge I have.
There have been roulette days where I'm just absolutely miserable at the game and equally unhappy about it, sometimes frustrated that I got annoyed at others, too.
(It's also frustrating to me because I'm not quite yet very good at noticing what anyone else might be doing wrong. And sometimes what I myself might be doing wrong.)
I just wish a bunch of the useful knowledge (or reminders) I have gotten wouldn't come from sarcasm or a strange sense of elitism.
This encounter made me very much make note of this way of pulling and was super useful, but it is possible to just talk. (For some comparison, interestingly enough, none of the players that have had Ultimate titles I have encountered in roulette have ever given me shit.)
This game is massive and as much as I love it, I don't live in it.
But that's also humanity. You're gonna get that.

Additional Scion Jobs
Long title: Additional Classes & Jobs I think would suit/have suited the Scions. 👀 (And no, I'm not gonna cheat and put Scholar on all of them, although in some case it would actually fit).
[Sorry in advance, the European FFXIV servers went down and they didn't bother to get them up again before the planned maintenance in a few hours, SO this accidentally became a long one post of thoughts, so I'm putting it below 'Read More']. 😂
So. Additional Classes & Jobs I think would have suited the Scions.
Minfilia Warde: White Mage. 🌟 I always wished for her to get something more to fight back with - and White Mage would fit her with the themes of seeking peace, harmony and wanting to support her friends. Seeing as Minfillia spends most of ARR stuck back in the HQ overseeing their operations it'd also make sense to make her a Healer who can take care of her returning comrades once they come back from their missions. Minor spoilers for HW/Shadowbringers, but her being White Mage could also further explain her connections and deeds later on in the game. Though there's a lot of memes about White Mage being a "green DPS" I think she'd be more focused on the healing part.
Tataru Taru: I was about to jokingly say Machinist to give her a gun, but jokes aside I'd give her the class/job Botanist. 🌼 Tataru not being a fighter but still wanting to help is kind of a plot-point within the game, and so I shall abide by the rules. (Though I suppose her being an Arcanist can still be considered canon considering the blue quests in Stormblood?). At any rate I think she'd fit well as a Botanist. Not only would it give her a way to Sneak around, but it'd also help her Gather the resources she or her friends need. As her only listed canon class is Weaver on the wiki, I'm also tempted to add Leatherworker and Culinarian into the list, seeing as we do have some moments where she already works on these even if they're not listed as canon classes (yet?).
Y'shtola "Master of Destruction" Rhul: Summoner. 🔥 No one can deny Y'Shtola is a master of magic. With Conjurer & Black Mage already under her belt it should come to no surprise I think she would continue with a similar line of study, and because of this I think she'd be perfect as Summoner. We COULD technically argue Arcanist/Summoner is semi-canon considering her past studies, but since it's not listed as one of her canon classes/jobs I shall not count it as one either, because the job is too perfect for her to ignore. Additionally I could see her pick up Blue Mage for the challenge it'd give her, even if it wouldn't be a main-job she'd use in world-deciding battles.
Lyse Hext: Dancer (and/or Monk?). 💃🏽 I was admittedly surprised Lyse's only canon listed class/job on the Wiki is Pugilist, and I honestly can't remember if Lyse ever got to upgrade to Monk, but I could have sworn she got the Dancer? Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, but either way I think she'd fit well with the Dancer job. She has always been light on her feet and being Dancer would also give her a ranged class to complement Pugilist/Monk, which is very close-ranged.
Papalymo Totolymo: I'd say Sage, after much consideration. 🛡 He was a difficult one to decide on though, but in the end I think it's the one who would make the most sense for him given the lore of Sage being a Sharlayan job difficult to master. It's also canon Papalymo studied the arcane for most of his life, so it'd make sense to give him something related to magic outside of him being a Thaumaturge. That, and I don't feel like he'd fit as a Scholar (the job), Astrologian, Summoner, Red Mage or Pictomancer. I could give a maybe to White Mage, but that's a MAYbe.
Thancred Waters: 🔫 Machinist was obviously my first thought, because hey, canon Gunbreaker already - but given his past as both Gladiator & Rogue he also has a lot of potential as Dark Knight and/or Viper, all which I feel would fit him well. Since he's already a tank with Gunbreaker I'd say Thancred getting Machinist and Viper would be the most useful for him though, and would let him use his experience at the same time as giving him better DPS stats. 🔪
Urianger Augurelt: Scholar, to the surprise of absolutely no one. 😂 xD Listen, if any of the scions deserves the Scholar job, it's him - and it'd be especially fitting for Shadowbringers and give additional reason(s) as to how and why he was able to get along so well with the fae. 🍄 Perhaps a little more surprising is instead that I think he'd also do well as a Reaper. Urianger has proven again and again he does what's necessary to save those he cares about, even at the risk of earning their scorn, and since he's already a canon Astrologian with Scholar added to the list from me Reaper is a good way to balance him out a bit to not only be focused on the healing jobs. 👻 Especially since there's already so many Scions who are Thaumaturge and/or Black Mages and I can't really imagine him taking on a job as a tank. Even with his character development I wouldn't say he enjoys being the center of attention.
Alphinaud Leveilleur: I so badly want to give him a DPS job, but tbh I don't think he'd really fit as any of them? As previous Arcanist and nowadays Scholar/Sage I could simply give him Summoner and be done with it, but it'd be kind of ironic to see him running around summoning a mini-Bahamut. If hard-pressed I'd give him Pictomancer instead, which would be a fun nod to Shadowbringers/Endwalkers as well, but it doesn't feel like a perfect fit either. 🖌 Tbh the perfect job for him would be a tank focused on magic with magical shields and the likes, and to this day I badly wish FFXIV will introduce one in the future. Sadly I think it might be difficult for them to make it different enough from Sage, so Idk if I'll ever get my wish come true.
Alisaie Leveilleur: Gunbreaker. 🔫 / "Jezzica, WHY!???" / Okay, so admittedly part of it is because it'd be hilarious to see her run around with a big gun, but given her personality a job as a tank would actually suit her very well and make her tanky enough to actually continue to stand in the aoe without moving. 🔫 Alisaie is not the healer in a battle, but doesn't mind helping out with healing outside of it. She's loud, honest, and loves being in the middle of it all. Additionally Alisaie has always been the most outspoken about how everyone is relying too much on you (the WoL). Her being a tank fits her personality really well, and quite frankly I think she would quickly become a Dark Knight if you (the WoL) ever died within the game. Given the fact Alisaie is already a Red Mage she also has potential as a Viper, but at the current time I still think Gunbreaker would fit her the best as an additional class/job.
Krile Baldesion: Another difficult one, but I'd probably give her Dancer based on vibes alone from the DT-trailer(s) and her already being a canon healer and Pictomancer. 💃🏽 She's a difficult one though, because I haven't spent as much time with her in the game yet.
Estinien "Wyrmblood" Varlineau: Defeating dragons was his entire life for so long that I think he'd struggle to be anything but a Dragoon even if he has another purpose now. 🐲 The fact that he was basically raised by the former Azure Dragoon after being orphaned wouldn't have made it easier to introduce Estinien to another job either. 🐉 Part of me wanted to put Estinien's additional job as a Dark Knight ⚔ , but tbh he's more of a "attack is the best defense" kind of guy, and he's more driven by attacking the problem than defending those behind him. 🪓 He could potentially fit well as a Warrior, but then he'd probably be a "one-man army" kind of Warrior who forgets to turn on his stance. 😂 Anyway, in all likelyhood I think Estinien would aim for another DPS if he had to add another job, and amongst those I think Reaper might actually be the best fit. Purely physically he could do a good job as Pugilist as well, but I have a hard time imagining him go around unlocking chakra(s) and/or later upgrading to Monk. x)
G'Raha Tia: 🐱 Jack of All Trades, Master of None, is yet always better than Master of One. With that said I think we can all agree that adding Summoner to his list of already many jobs is too perfect to ignore. 😂 With Archer/Black Mage/Paladin/White Mage already under his belt we probably shouldn't add more to his big list after that though. 😂 xD

The cast play an online rpg game and Fushimi is the healer.
No one in that game is getting healed, Fushimi has better things to do than heal people who keep getting hurt by being idiots. Imagine S4 decides to do a fun bonding game night, Enomoto accidentally introduced the Captain to an online MMORPG and Munakata has decided that wouldn’t it be fun for them all to participate in one of these ‘raids.’ He wants their team to be perfectly balanced so he assigns everyone a role and somehow Fushimi ends up as the healer. Fushimi immediately complains because when did he agree to be part of this anyway and Munakata just smiles calmly as he says that the healer is the most important member of the team, and he feels it would be suitable for Fushimi’s talents.
Munakata sets the office up so that everyone can play the game in like a circle together, he thinks this will be a fun way for them to practice their teamwork. Munakata’s character is probably some kind of magical swordsman and he’s in the leader position, calling out strategy and making sure everyone remains in formation, with Awashima — who is definitely the tank — supporting him. The rest of the alphabet squad are members of various different classes, Enomoto is a little disheartened to see he ended up as the bard. White mage Fushimi is armed with a variety of healing spells and also his character happens to be equipped with various projectile knives for physical attacks, because he refused to play a character that’s totally unarmed, that would be stupid.
They start the quest and it’s probably pretty easy at first, since this is the first session everyone’s pretty low level so they’re doing beginner stuff. At some point though they run into their first boss monster and now the one small flaw in Munakata’s plan becomes apparent. Barbarian Hidaka takes a bad hit and tries to get away from the boss monster, asking Fushimi to come and heal him. Fushimi clicks his tongue and is like ‘why should I?’. Hidaka’s like ‘you’re the healer…?’ and Fushimi says he’s too busy right now, you have potions heal yourself. Doumyouji’s paladin almost gets killed completely and he’s like Fushimi-san hurry, I can fight more if you heal me. Fushimi mutters that this is what Doumyouji gets for running in like an idiot. Awashima says Fushimi’s name warningly and Munakata says it is no trouble, he trusts that Fushimi-kun will do what’s best for the mission. Fushimi makes a face and grumbles fine fine, going to fix up Hidaka (he leaves Doumyouji down for a while though, because they’re doing better without him trying to Leeroy Jenkins the monster).

Do you have any tips to tank in trials? Like what exactly does the off tank do, and when do you know to switch from off tank to main tank
Bahaha oh man, ok listen just start with regular trials. Here are some tips! > Throw on tank stance at the start of a trial/dungeon. If the other tank still has theirs on, turn yours off- nobody likes the agro fight, especially not healers. > Provoke and Shirk are great tools for tank swapping or switching around agro. Provoke puts you at the top of the enmity list, Shirk removes some agro from you. ** Some very rare fights want the tanks to be in top two emnity so they take the bosses two autos- but ill be honest unless you have the best gear and insane rotations down, the other tank in these levels of trials will be ok with their own eminity bar. Just worry about yours :) *** Also, Provoke MOVES you to the top of the agro bar, but doesnt KEEP you there. So when you provoke, follow it up with a good hit or two to make sure you steal that agro! > For trials there are VERY VERY few regular or even hard trials where the tank needs to swap anymore. Generally for the newer/harder content you might just want to check the group or a guide and see if there is one --- if you just want to learn naturally, generally the boss with have either one HORRIBLE defense down type debuff or a stacking on that will slowly just make every hit kill you- so you'd want to swap based around those stackers (most of the time) > Since endwalker its not too hard to keep agro if youre doing... anything with your tank stance on. Even if youre under geared. Just make sure youre grabbing every minion and using AoE on groups of 3 or more!! I've played with some tanks who just use their ranged pull on the mob and keep running- For advanced parties some DPS might want to start applying damage to make the run faster- so just hit the minions with the aoe combo and go to it > For trials, face the boss away from the party whenever possible- Several bosses have "cleave" moves that will hit everything in its path- hence you facing the boss away > When possible, do not spin the boss if you can help it- this will help melee DPS with their positionals > Try to space your defensive cooldowns, dont just keep popping them, and try not to stack them. While learning a fight do whatever!! Thats how you learn! However if you know you know the boss has a lot of damage coming out (Think- tank buster-) save your mitigation > For dungeons for the love of god use cooldowns. Also, use reprisal and Arms Length. They are GREAT tools for pulls > To earn bonus points with your team, if you see the boss cast anything with a flashing red bar, you can use INTERJECT to stop that. Chop that bitch in the throat! (or stun it with a Low Blow) > You as a tank can naturally take way more of a beating, so if you standing somewhere or carrying an AOE somewhere that will still hit you but save a healer or DPS, go for it. You might make it out alive, 9/10 times they wont. Those are just a few things I can think of off the top of my head! I know there's more but that should get you started! Every party needs a tank!! Tl;dr- use your defensive cooldowns, dont use them all at once, turn your tank stance on, party

Hi I'm a recovering WoW nerd and I know that 99% of people don't care but I have fun facts. (It's about the Leeroy Jenkins video and if you played WoW back when that was a thing you probably know all of this already but shhhhhhh)
Break because longggggggggg
Leroy Jenkins. A name many know. Or did, at least, I think that meme is probably fairly dead at this point.
But if you have heard of this meme and have watched the video, there are few jokes in it that are very WoW inside knowledge that I don't hear people talking about enough.
Mostly because it's an old video about an old wow raid and was a staged marketing tool for guild recruitment but anyways! I'm going to talk about it! I will not be silenced!
The video, for those who need a refresher or haven't seen it and just know the funny screaming guy, has a group of wow nerds sitting in a raid (blackrock...spire? One of the blackrocks) talking about an upcoming fight they have had troubles with in the past.
They discuss strategy for a bit, don't seem optimistic, and then our hero, Leeroy, gets back from being away, proclaims loudly, "alright chums time's up let's do this LEEEEROYYYY JENKINSSS" before running in to the room.
The guild follows after and tries to make the best of the situation but it's chaos and they are very quickly all on the ground dead. There's some name calling and blaming as everyone dies.
Simple video yeah? Yes. But! There is a hidden second layer! It was not intended to be hidden, but as the video reached a broader audience it kinda became lost.
This hidden truth (it's not hidden) ,this lost meaning (the meaning was not lost), this history that I am bringing to life for all of you (so many people have pointed this out I'm sure), is that not just Leeroy, but everyone in the guild is supposed to be seen as an idiot.
Let's start with the strategy, shall we? They mention they're going to start by having some run in first and gather up all of the eggs, so that they can all be killed with AoE spells. (Area of effect, for the uninitiated. It means it hits everyone in a certain area)
Next, to keep from being overwhelmed, they will be using intimidating shout, which causes enemies to stop attacking and run in random directions for a bit. Finally, they will be using divine intervention on their mages, a very powerful spell that makes the target completely immune to damage. They do this to let the mages run in and use AoE as much as possible without fear of getting murdered.
And yeah sure this might sound like a comprehensive plan on paper... with the minor caveat that no part of this plan works even a little.
Let's start off by talking about the room they're going into. It's full of little dragon whelp eggs. When anyone/anything gets too close - the eggs hatch and they come out. The dragon whelps don't have too much life but they do hurt and there are a lot.
To start - trying to run in and gather up the eggs is the opposite of what you should be doing. Even with good gear and healing, you're still probably going to die before the whelps do, there are just too many. You're supposed to take this room slowly.
The idea of grouping up a lot of small mobs like this might work though, with some very good luck and very high AoE dps. Still probably not with these whelps. But maybe! If you executed it perfectly.
The rest of the plan would be not executing it perfectly. Intimidating shout causes nearby mobs to stop attacking and run around. That's good right? Sometimes! It's definitely not good when your plan was "group them up so we can kill them quickly".
It's also not good if all those fleeing enemies are opening more eggs and getting more enemies attention to come over and kick your ass. Even if they weren't rounding up every egg, the fleeing whelps would handle it for them at this point. Also! The new whelps hatched would be nowhere near the tank and probably just start running straight to the nearest healer to eat them.
And finally, divine intervention! Surely God could save this raid, right? Well, no, not exactly. Divine intervention does make you completely immune to damage for 3 minutes!!! It also... unfortunately.... means you can't cast spells... or even move... that whole time....
You can actually hear them commenting on this once everyone rushes in, you can hear a couple voices saying "I can't move/I can't cast anything!", implying that these characters were unaware of this drawback.
So to sum it up, the plan was: pull way too many monsters, fear them out of AoE spells and into other monsters, kill our paladins (oh yeah the person who casts divine intervention dies upon casting it btw), and freeze our mages so they can't participate.
Honestly, these guys are pretty lucky Leeroy was there to take the fall for this one.
So yeah. The video wasn't supposed to be a "look at this dumb idiot", it was a "come join our group of dumb idiots".
((and I did mention it earlier but yes, the entire video was scripted to be used as a recruiting advertisement for their guild, so all of this WAS an intentional part of the joke. Personally, I'm a fan of it. What a way to show "hey we're a guild with a sense of humor and can take a joke about being terrible at the game while still making progress"))

Forgot I had like. Perfectly good art of a little wizard robot to share already.
Tumblr media
This is Sorsier, an eclectic bot that harnesses a unique energy source to casts what other bots can only seem to describe as magic.
Not a full breakdown for them either, once again because I don't have a great kit in mind for them right now. To explain why, I'll indulge myself by divulging some extra info about how characters and their kits work in this game.
Sorsier is part of the "Utility" class of characters in War Bots. In total there's 5 classes: Damage, Control, Tank, Utility, and Support. If you're familiar with Overwatch you should know how most of these work: Damage bots are generally the best dedicated fighters, Tanks can take hits, apply pressure, and protect allies, and Supports are the dedicated healers who generally prioritize keeping teammates alive. The other two aren't hard to explain either. Control bots are better at fighting groups or otherwise keeping enemies in check, either with higher AOE damage or specifically control sections of the map. "Utility" should also be easy enough to understand, these bots have lesser or no healing capability than Supports, but have more powerful benefits of their own.
Sorsier slots into this role by being one of the most flexible characters in the game, capable of providing all manner of different utility, from healing to damage buffs to defensive abilities, and can customize their role on the team dramatically using the game's Loadout system, more profoundly than any other character in the cast.
This loadout system is divided into three slots: Weapon, Body, and Accessory. Weapon determines the bot's main means of attack, with their primary and secondary fire being determined by this choice. Body determines another ability of the bot, usually coming from their unique construction or some other innate technique. This is typically a movement ability, think close to what Overwatch tends to do with the "Ability 1" (Lshift) slot. Accessory determines an additional item the bot carries with them, generally some kind of throwable on a semi-long cooldown. Again, very similar to Overwatch's "Ability 2" (E key) slot.
Note the lack of an Ultimate equivalent. This is deliberate for a couple reasons. One is simple, I suck at coming up with Ults, even just in the context of hypothetical Overwatch characters, let alone for a completely new game with a new "meta" to consider. The other main reason is that I intend War Bots to have more players per team than Overwatch, currently running with 10v10 as my ideal number. As such, having a universal system where each player has the access to a massive game-changing ability at some point in the match feels way too potentially chaotic for matches of that scale.
Back to Sorsier, the reason I bring all this up with them is that I did have a kit in mind for them, but it was using an older version of the loadout system, with the concept I just described being a fairly recent development. It wasn't even an exciting or very fun-sounding kit: slow flying rapid-fire projectile primary fire, lock-on beam secondary fire with a slowing effect, ability 1 being a chargeable AOE shockwave that launches away nearby enemies, and ability 2 being a targetable basic minor heal+cleanse to a single target. Not only does this kit not sound very fun, or do anything interesting with the potential capabilities of basically magic, but it doesn't work with the new loadout system. Everything would be channeled through the staff, which doesn't work under the Weapon/Body/Accessory system, where each ability has to come from a different interchangeable component. So, making a new kit would fix all these problems with one solution. That solution being uh. One I... still need to figure out. I'll get to it sooner or later.
Anyways, rambling post, but I kept thinking of other stuff to bring up. Enjoy the funny little wizard. shadow wizard money gang.

EVENT: PROJECT ORIGIN CHARACTER POST TYPE: SOLO
milan never thought a day would come when the gaze of shinhye would feel to heavy to bear. from day one, nova's manager has always been friendly and lovely and milan had taken a liking to her right away. the concern in her eyes fall right in with what she knows of the woman, still, milan dislikes it. she's been troublesome lately, uh? causing worries, causing discomfort, beeing needy and so many other things. yeah, she truly dislike having brought such attention upon her. she wants to apologize for how she's been for the last several weeks, but she knows shinhye would likely dismiss these words and say she doesnt need to apogolozie and just keep up with therapy and take care of herself. the thought alone of this makes her want to sigh deeply.
however instead of letting air out, she breathes some in and raise her chin to meet the older woman's gaze. "okay so, for this project character thingy. i've given it a lot of thoughts." she begins, just as she had prepared. "i don't game much, so it was a harder exercise than i expected. so i tried to visualize myself on adventures with my friend. and everytime, the role i can see myself going for is one of protector. i want to protect my friends. not in a healer way but as a..." she pauses for a second as she tries to remember the word she had been told. "'tank', is the word i think? i'm not that good at giving good advice when my friends are going through things. ideally, i would want nothing to befall them. i'd rather take their pain than see them hurt." the volume of her voice invulontarly lowers at these last words. for a second, she breaks eye contact as her thoughts turn towards the person who has always inspired these feelings.
noeul.
she swallows, refusing to let any emotion conquer her again. "but i'm also not a leader. so i see my character only taking the front lines when there's danger ahead. that brings me to another points; i don't think my knight would really be a battle tank, this is why i use the word protector. it's not about battle but nurture if it makes sense. so he inherent power would be the ability to manifest shields on herself and others. maybe even use them to take the damage that others would normally have. also, to show her soft side, i think she should have cute pet companion... or maybe even ever changing companions; wounded small animals that she finds here and there and keep them around while she nurse them back to health; not with magic but good old regular nursing." she pauses there, thinking back on everything she has said to make sure she's covered all the ideas she had come up with. "oh! right! if it's just one pet, i'd love it to be a red panda. they are tiny, cute and goofy. i think that would be the perfect companion." she adds. now, that should be all. "so yeah, that's it." she concludes and squirms on her seat, feeling the awkwardness creep back in now that work discussion has concluded. hopefully, shinhye doesn't pry too much on the personal and health side of her life.

The Guardiana Magic School Run - Part 15
Tumblr media
Worry not, Balbaroy, I'll (hubris incoming) be shocked if this one turns out to be hard. With that said I'm not enough to a fool to head on without preparing, so we retreat immediately as there's no stop between the last battle and this one, but we certainly have things to equip!
Tumblr media
The Mermanbuster, which has been teasing us in the deals section for a while, is finally ours for free, and this is the exact chapter it is meant for. As you can see it is slightly weaker than the Steel Sword, but its bonus on aquatic creatures is brutal. Hopefully you'll get to see it. I'll still make space on his inventory for the Steel Sword so that he can switch between them as needed.
The Healing Ring turns out to grant immunity to poison, which is great, as there are poisoning enemies in this battle. I'm a bit unsure who should get it, but I decide to give it to Gong, who tends to be in the front line despite not being as defensive as I wish he was. Gong is very much the limiar between squishy and non-squishy in this team. He still currently has more defense than Max though, which is wild to me, this is so not how my casual runs go.
Either way, we've saved the game, we're good to go!
Tumblr media
We have a chance to get some money as well, hopefully it won't be hard but I am trying to get my ego under control before bad things happen.
Tumblr media
Our first and perhaps worst enemies are these pegasus knights, they can reach us right away, so we gotta protect the mages and healers. Luckily, Domingo is the greatest and currently the fastest in the team. Narsha is also fast enough, so Tao and Anri get protected right away. Also, Max is in reach of all the knights and it would not surprised if they decided to go for him instead.
Tumblr media
It's a moot point anyway cause in the end everyone moves before the knights, and I decide to bait the bats enemies further ahead. We're not in their range and they should be simple to deal with, and we're close enough to back Narsha and Domingo up if things get complicated.
The knights decide to just, not move, which is annoying as I need to wipe them out eventually. had I known I'd have boosted Domingo's magic with Narsha beforehand, as he is the only one who can bait those out. Time to put his tankiness to the test again.
He deals half of the knights' HP with Freeze 1 so I guess boosting wouldn't have made a difference.
Tumblr media
I can however boost Anri to maybe help her train, that would be nice.
I give up on baiting the south with Gong, Khris and Arthur though, as there are more enemies gathering there and none of them should be tanking that much.
Tumblr media
Anri finally gets good at the spell she's supposed to be good at.
Tumblr media
Domingo tanks a hit, but the other two garbage knights refuse to advance. This is very annoying.
Tumblr media
I advance Tao a bit too much by mistake and cry. She has been oneshotting bats left and right though. It's not even worth mentioning anymore, assume Tao can oneshot most things by this point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Behold. The Mermanbuster.
With thus, Lowe gets to heal Tao and everything is fine again.
Tumblr media
I sent Gong to help Domingo, as he would die if like, both knights got double hits. Very unlikely, but you never know when the RNG is gonna decide to be hilarious.
(And yeah sure, if it did that Gong would die too, I'm not sure what I was thinking, maybe I just wanted Domingo to have a friend around.)
Tumblr media
At least now the knights are finally advancing, the north one also skipped attacking in order to, beeline for Khris? You silly bean, I'm not letting you do that.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile these conches are very weak, despite the first impression they made against Tao, so I don't expect problems. Since everything is going fine, I decide to cast Attack on Narsha to speed up things. She levels up and gets Aura 2. Never disappointed with this woman.
Tumblr media
In the back, I decided to play it safe and have Gong heal himself, so the knights were not defeated in that round and this one is very determined to ignore Domingo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile the blob is getting protagonist-worthy level ups.
Tumblr media
I'm just gonna keep advancing Narsha, she doesn't care.
Tumblr media
This is vacation for her. Tour where the queen of Runefaust hunts down some seafood.
Tumblr media
The ice avoidant knight gets a fitting end.
Tumblr media
We're at turn 6 and there's two enemies. This battle is kinda ridiculous. I'm gonna let Max and Narsha tank some hits and try to give other exp, either by attacking or tossing heals to the void.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
nvm
He also gets poisoned. Told you it was gonna be a thing.
Narsha should still be able to tank though.
Tumblr media
And that's it, I laze around for two turns while Arthur and Anri finish a Shellfish each, Arthur is overleveled but his stats aren't great so I don't mind him growing more, this does finally gets his HP past 20 which is nice. Gong is the first to get Heal 3, which is also nice. As previously discussed, he should get promoted right away to not delay his promotion-only spells.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's now back to having less defense than Max, but it's not too big a deal, and his attack is still respectable as well. With Narsha around, a character falling behind in attack is not the death sentence it used to be. Besides, our upgrades are not yet over, this rich-ass town has like, five chests lying around.
Tumblr media
I. Hate. That they retranslated this thing as Agility Ring when it doesn't effect agility. So anyway. The Running Ring gives us a +2 in movement which is awesome. For now I'll give it to Domingo so that he can tank in front of people more easily, and also he's my only flyer in this playthrough so the mobility is nice.
This town is also where we should be getting the Heavy Mace, but because our Runefaust Queen has soloed a Kraken that doesn't matter.
Tumblr media
Finally, let's check out the deals on this very normal shop.
There's another Mermanbuster, and another Elf Slayer. This is very annoying as I don't have any other characters for these weapons, and I guess they'll be here clogging the deals until I buy them.
On the bright side, we can buy the Repel Ring now. I'm leaving it with Gong for now. as counters would ruin him big time, but Max is also a candidate.
The regular weapon shop doesn't have anything useful for us, so that's where we end it for today.

HP and Tanks
So in Idle Champions your tanks have several orders of magnitude more hp than non-tanks. They’ll have like 1e12 hp? For non-math folks e12 means “multiply this by 10, 12 times.“ So 2.5e3 is 2,500.
This isn’t really sustainable without good healing, so healers’ numbers also go crazy high.
Then we get into monsters that can ignore the front line and shoot behind them, or AoE your whole party with a meteor storm, and now we need an ability that lets tanks share their hp craziness with the party. So the tank’s at 1e12 and the rest of the party is at 1e6, which is a lot less than the tank but still a far cry from the maybe 95 hp they had without a tank.
With healing for 1e11 and tank hp at 1e12 and the party at 1e6, now there’s an issue of producing a real time limit on zones. So they introduced % damage.
This is a mistake. Full stop, it was the wrong thing to do. Think about the effect of that. If the falling debris causes 25% of max hp every tick, it’s dealing 2.5e11 damage to the tanks but only 2.5e5 damage to the non-tanks. The healing is then covering the non-tanks easily (it heals for 400,000 times the incoming damage each tick) but slowly falling behind on the tank (it heals for 2/5 the damage each time). This makes it so leveling up your tanks is incorrect? You have to understand, this is kind of a puzzle game but “who to level up” isn’t intended as part of the puzzle. You’re clearly intended to level up everyone as much as you can. If you had the choice to get the tanks’ “Increase everyone’s damage” powers without getting their “I have more hp” powers, maybe this would be a cute puzzle with a surprising “don’t get more hp” solution. But you can’t. You’d have to stop leveling the tank at all.
A better option would be to remove the percent damage, but to my mind the best option would be to eschew the idea that MASSIVE SCALING had to apply to every aspect of the game. They should have removed the idea of tanks having a million times the hp of your other party members and monsters dealing more and more damage as you got deeper into the game.
This game will never make this fix. It would require too many changes to other things, such as the achivement for your tank to take some monumental amount of damage. But. I think the assumption that a massive-scaling game like this had to include massive scaling on tank hp was a faulty assumption and led to a bunch of other gameplay problems that aren’t really fun.
HOWEVER!
On an entirely different tangent, I really like the idea of the abstraction of tanking being represented by the rest of the party having some portion of the tank’s heightened hp. I’m not talking about the 5E Paladin ability to just take damage for adjacent allies. I mean IC’s system where tanks make the party tankier. Just by being there.
If that seems unreasonable, remember that hp in general is an abstraction. It’s not “wound points” with each lost hp representing a little of your blood and death occurring when the last of your blood has exited your body. I mean, in some games it is (in Spider Man PC taking damage pulled down a spidey suit to reveal a skeleton and you died if the skeleton was fully revealed) but that’s not exactly a reasonable model of how bodies work either is it. For realism you’d want something like Bushido Blade where fights generally end in one or two sword swings and that one dude with a gun is in fact completely unfair. Because on average, in most fights if someone gets hit with almost any weapon, once, they’re out of the fight. Generally the assumption is that hp represents some mix of will to keep going, actual health, the capacity to minimize/blunt certain blows to avoid actual damage, and perhaps some amount of luck you’re burning through before, at those last few hp, you’re taking the kind of hits that bring a person down.
So it seems totally acceptable to me that a tank could have that abstraction also represent the way they make their party safer in general, by demoralizing the foe, drawing some attention away from allies, helping allies stay in defensible positions, and so on. I think the larger reason this doesn’t see more use is that in a lot of the games where it’d come up - such as tabletop RPGs like Pathfinder - the players want to do those things rather than let them be abstracted. They’d rather have a good grapple score that lets them immobilize the monster so its only option is to attack the tanky grappler, or use a Demoralize action to decrease the monster’s attack, or directly distract the monster so their allies can hide.

My thoughts on each point made:
Low Altitude Hovering: I think there is a misunderstanding from your part about what I meant. Yes, options to counter it come free with your xbox and exist aplenty, that doesn’t mean it’s not a specific role you MUST fill in some way or suffer the consequences every single run, unless you are doing some tactical leaking. I emphasize it because the answer to low altitude is still pretty specific instead of being a more generalized check, which normally I’m all for, except it applies every single run instead of “in case I get this one map”. It’s not a deal breaker, mind you, or even something I feel too strongly towards, I am framing this in the context of “this is much harsher than +1 Hope cost”; this is not entirely unlike how IS2 wants you to bring a Berry, I’m aware. That too is a complaint I have about IS2.
Endings in IS3: You focused entirely on how easy it is to go into any given ending route (which is true) while ignoring the logistics of the route themselves in high Waves and what makes them a crapshoot realistically. Yes, going on End2 is easy. No, it’s not any less of a crapshoot if Gopnik appears and you are not at all ready to handle W13 Gopnik yet due to event timing. Yes, going for End4 is simple. The very next unavoidable Encounter node a couple of nodes away might just entirely fuck you over with debuffs because you literally had no time to build Light. Even outside the context of “worse than +1 Hope”, I think this is not good.
Lives as resources in IS3: I think that’s a good point. I mainly inform mine based on my dislike for the Light system, you make sense.
Metastatic: All of this seems written under the assumption that one IS running one damage dealer carry or plenty of units that aren’t affected adversely by it, and seems to completely ignore one important fact: The amount of insulation doesn’t matter if it hits you right where it needs to hit you, because insulation is not a guarantee, and over the course of several runs, it’ll happen. It’s a Roguelite, luck fucking you over sometimes is a feature, but put Metastatic on the same table the other afflictions and they don’t begin to compare to the potential damage it can cause you. I would argue even if it gets one of your several units that ir can severely hinder — which aren’t just damage dealers by the way, tanks and healers are also afflicted badly — that’s already a pretty significant blow to your gameplan going forward. IS should be about adapting to the punches, yes, but at least in my opinion, harsh enough punches ought to be things I deserve due to risks or misplays, and a ruin-compromising Metastatic can come out of absolutely nowhere by no fault of your own, whether that be in the context of ‘serious’ play where you are trying to clear any way possible, or more free play where you are trying to clear wuth specific units or set-ups. Even outside the context of “worse than +1 Hope cost”, I think this is bad. Even if it doesn’t ruin a run per se, and this is a more personal assessment, it does tank my enjoyment when the Fuck This Unit disease fucks my unit to that degree by no fault or misplay of my own.
High difficulty kinda feels rougher in IS4 vs IS3 mostly because there's no squad that nullifies the additional hope cost. What would you say though?
I disagree, it just means tighter Hope management in IS4, which class-centric squads can still mitigate to some degree, while IS3 high difficulty has all sorts of other problems like the Floaters, Arts damage getting shafted, asking very specific things from you in a so called team building game mode to the point IS3 high Waves being the only one I’d say really encourages very, very specific picks in terms of roles (no ranged way to knock low altitude foes at all? Try again), trying to go for specific ends is a crapshoot, and enemy stats balloon in such a way that it makes Not Having Stat Stick counters or getting lucky with artifacts a death sentence, because you can’t even use Lives as resources anymore the way you could in IS2 and the way you can, to a lesser degree, in IS4, because the Light mechanic exists solely to punish you, and at any moment in the run, you can get Metastatic Abherration and that’s a run better abandoned.
I can play around one more Hope cost if I don’t have to deal with the molotov cocktail of bad game design in IS3.

You were tired, so tired. And why? You hadn't even done anything to cause you to experience the tiredness that was dragging you down. If anything, you should have been wide awake and ready to take on the day. But as soon as you'd gotten up and eaten breakfast, you were just about ready for a nap.
That was after you'd rushed to the fresher in order to heave up everything you had just eaten.
Strange. It must have been something from breakfast - perhaps some of the fruit had been off or...something. There really wasn't anything that you thought it could be. But obviously something had disagreed with you.
"What's wrong, Little One?" A concerned expression was on his face as he removed the helmet as he came back into your bedroom. He'd expected to find you flitting around the sprawling palace tending to odds and ins, but he hadn't spotted hide not hair of you all day, "I haven't seen you all day."
"Nothing," you offered up the best smile you could muster up as you looked up from the soft bed where you were currently buried under a mountain of blankets, "just taking a nap."
"You've been tired lately," a note of concern colored his tone as he came over and sat at the edge of bed. You made a small sound as you pouted at him, shrugging your shoulders lightly. He sighed before taking his hand and gently brushing the hair out of your face. He pressed the back of his hand to your forehead before following suit with your cheeks, "is everything alright?"
"Yes," you whispered softly, "I guess I'm just going through a phase. I'm sure its nothing - don't worry about me, Boba."
"I always worry," he inhaled and exhaled deeply before leaning down and pressing his forehead against yours, "I need to leave soon. I can stay if you prefer, if you're not feeling well."
"No, no, no," you insisted firmly, sitting up and fervently shaking your head, "Boba, you're not staying behind because of me. You've got to go and you will. Besides, someone needs to stay back and look over the place. It - I will be fine, I swear it."
"If you're sure-"
"Boba Fett," you tugged on his cowl, "You're going and that is final. Besides, I'll have Fennec here. Everything will be fine."
"I love you," he insisted as you beamed at him, "I'll be back soon. I won't be gone long."
"I'll hold you to it," you said as he kissed you gently, "promise me one thing?"
"Hmm?"
"Quit worrying so much!" you tapped his nose, attempting to make light of the situation, but Boba was not having it. It made you smile a little, however, to see this big, bad Mandalorian let you tease him in such a manner. Had it been anyone else in the galaxy, they would be dead on their feet within seconds, "Boba - for me? Try anyways?"
"I lost you once," he reminded you as a solemn look crossed your features, "I will not do it again."
"And I lost you too," he was not the only one who had suffered during your years of separation, "but we found our way back to each other. We always will - besides I'm not the one going out to hunt down quarry. I'll be here, safe and sound."
"Little One-"
"Boba Fett, are you forgetting that I once was the same as you?" you arched a brow as he huffed lightly and admitted silent defeat, "I am out of practice but I won't be alone. Now go and get ready - the sooner you leave, the sooner you'll be back."
»»————- ♡ ————-««
But then a week passed. And another. And then before you knew it, you were approaching three weeks without Boba. You knew he was fine, as you required, maybe even begged, for him to communicate with you and keep you in the loop as much as possible when he was gone.
But still - it wasn't the same as having him at home and within arms length.
Kriff. Hopefully he'd be back soon. Maybe -
But you didn't have enough time to think further into any sort of scheme as the contents of your stomach churned and you ran to the nearest the fresher.
Fennec had been looking for you, concerned at this point for your health as well. You hadn't been looking well for weeks and she was sure something was up.
"Hey," she said gently with a rap of her knuckles on the door. You sighed heavily with a wipe to your mouth as you sat down on the floor. The sniper, small but fierce, came in and sat next to you, giving your shoulder a gentle squeeze, "are you okay? This has been going on for weeks."
"I dunno, Fen," you admitted, "I think its just some bug but I can't shake. I'm sure it'll get better soon."
"And I'm sure you should go and see a healer," she was insistent and while she had inklings of suspicion, she wasn't going to mention those just yet, "or I'll be forced to tell Fett.”
“You’re worrying over nothing,” you insisted with a small roll of your eyes. Sometimes you didn’t know who was worse - Fennec or Boba. Surely one had to have learned from the other as they became increasingly protective over you, “it’s fine, Fen.”
“It’s my job to worry about you,” she reminded you softly, “otherwise Fett will have my head. Besides, I happen to care about you as well. Please go to the healer this afternoon and just get a check up. What can it hurt?”
“Fine,” you agreed, begrudgingly, crossing your arms over your chest, “fine. But when nothing is wrong, I will gladly tell you both I told you so.”
“We’ll see about that, Princess,” Fennec gently pushed your hair out of your face as you huffed lightly. You felt more like a child than a respected adult at that moment.

As you made your way back home - the newly redone and revamped palace that was welcoming to all - an odd sense settled over you. You felt...a million different things all at once, but none of them seemed real. A few tears had run down your cheeks as you almost laughed to yourself. You certainly weren’t going to be able to tell them I told you so after this.
And yet you didn’t mind - not at all. In fact, among all the worries and fears that rushed through your body, you were excited. Thrilled even. Who would have thought?
Marching down the stairs to the throne room, you expected to find Fennec to share your news with her, but instead you found a different sight. One that sent a spike of excitement flowing through your blood.
“Boba!” you hopped down the last few steps and bounded over to him. He immediately looked up from what he was working on, a smile gracing his features as he held his arms open to you. You almost bowled him over in your excitement, a feat compared to how much of a tank he was in the armor, “my love - you’re home!”
“As are you,” he kissed the top of your head before putting his hands on either side of your face, “Fennec told me you went to see the healer. Is everything alright?”
“Yes, but it can wait - how was your trip?”
“It was fine,” he gave you a curious look, “just business as usual. Now tell me - what aren’t you telling me?”
“You weren’t hurt or anything were you?” you looked him up and down, checking his face to make sure there were no new marks or injuries before following suit with the parts of him that were exposed to you. He scoffed lightly as you fawned over him, but deep down the big bad bounty hunter lavished in your praise, “no mishaps?”
“No mishaps, no injuries,” he promised as you peppered a few kisses across his cheeks, “out with it, Little One. I know you’re hiding something, you always get like this.”
“Hmmm,” you mused as you took a step backwards and tried your best to keep from brimming over with excitement, “and you are always a big worry wart over nothing, my love.”
“Only when it comes to you,” he insisted with a waggle of his finger, “now out with it, what’s going on.”
“Remember how I was feeling before you left?” you asked and he nodded with a grimace, “well I haven’t been feeling better-”
“You told me you had,” he accused as you gave him a sheepish look, “were you lying to me?”
“Maybe…” you plastered on the most innocent expression you could, “but none of it matters-”
“Of course it does!”
“Hush,” you held a finger up to his lips in order to silence him, “lemme finish. Well, this morning I still wasn’t feeling better, and Fennec insisted I go to the healer. She insisted and said you would too.”
“Of course I would, I’ve been telling you since -”
“I know, I know, I know,” you rushed out the words, very fiber of your being trembling with excitement, “I found out the reason I haven’t been well.”
“Is it a bug?” he asked as you shook your head, causing him to tilt his head to side in confusion, “if it’s not...what could it possibly be?”
“I’m pregnant,” you blurted out excitedly, unable to hold back any longer. Boba’s face shifted through about a million expressions as he looked at you expectantly and you nodded. A smile tugged on the corners of his mouth before he pulled you into his arms, clutching you against him as tightly as he possibly could, “we’re having a baby, Boba!”
“A baby,” he back as he studied your face, gently wiping away at the tears that had rolled down your cheeks while his own eyes glistened as well, “Little One - cyare - this is far better than I could have expected.”
“I know,” you agreed as he kissed you, “I never thought...it all makes sense now. The fatigue, not being able to keep food down - it’s so obvious. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner.”
“A baby,” he was incredulous, unable to form a coherent thought at the exciting news. He never thought he would get this - you, a baby, an empire, anything - but it was, all coming to bless him at once. He had never been more thankful than in that moment. He looked down at your stomach, where there was still no evidence of your pregnancy just yet, but sighed contentedly before placing a gentle hand over it. He couldn’t wait to see you grow round with your child - his child - as time went on. If you thought he was protective over you before, then you were in for something else. Now that he had everything he could possibly ever want, he was never letting it go.
“You’re - you’re happy right, my love?” you asked as he met your eyes, lips trembling as they were tugged up lightly in the corners. Touching his cheek lightly, he keened into your touch before you gave him a gentle kiss, “I know we didn’t...plan this, but I’m happy.”
“Me too,” he promised as he wrapped you into another warm hug, this time being gentle with your stomach as you laughed, “I am happier than any man deserves to be. All thanks to you, Little One. I love you.”
“I love you too Boba,” you agreed, “I am so happy, so so happy. But there is one thing…”
“You’re not going to be able to call me Little One much longer,” you grinned as you put on your belly, “not once the real little one comes around.”
“Nonsense,” he insisted softly, “you’ll always be my Little One, Princess. Always.”
