My Fire Emblem: Three Houses Ending Ideas for Byleth
Some may have ships, others not.
Male Byleth
Verdant Wind: Becomes Claude's leading general and advisor. Could also serve as an ambassador to Almyra.
Azure Moon: Same as above, but for Dimitri. I think M!Byleth would go well with Mercedes.
Silver Snow: Becomes Archbishop. Either Mercedes or Flayn is his wife.
Crimson Flower: Can either be a general or an advisor. I'll let you know that I ship Edelgard with Hubert, so a marriage between her and M!Byleth is not on the table for me (and I do really like her character; I just personally can't separate her from Hubert in any way, shape, or form).
Female Byleth
Verdant Wind: May either marry Claude or remain one of his advisors (should Claude make Hilda his queen). Maybe even an ambassador to Almyra. (this one is hard, since Claude x Hilda makes more sense to me, yet I did marry Claude on my first playthrough)
Azure Moon: Becomes Dimitri's Queen.
Silver Snow: Becomes Archbishop. Possibly marries Seteth.
Crimson Flower: I'm still firmly in the Edelgard x Hubert camp, which brings me to my favorite idea: F!Byleth becomes her personal handmaiden/lady-in-waiting who tends to her, styles her hair, designs/makes her clothes, and will eventually become her midwife/nanny.
#fire emblem#fire emblem three houses#fe3h#byleth#byleth eisner#claude von riegan#dimitri alexandre blaiddyd#edelgard von hresvelg#headcanons#i'll admit i like some of the friendship endings#it depends on their phrasing#like the idea of bernadetta becoming edelgard's imperial counselor#i'll just assume edel's married to hubert#hilda and marianne keeping in touch is a great idea too#maybe hilda's still married to claude and marianne married lorenz...doesn't erase their friendship#plz no shipping discourse over mercie because i prefer her with male characters#just my personal beliefs is all#sit back and enjoy the queue

Let me tell you a story about realizing I was in love.
It is early June of 2021. Cavalcade, the new album by Black Midi just dropped a couple of days ago, and I'm listening to it for the first time driving home from work. John L is playing and its cacophony has rattled the fillings out of my teeth. The song ends just as abruptly as it begins.
Immediately afterwards, an acoustic guitar and quiet vocals open the next song. They set the stage for the arrival of Marlene Dietrich, a singer who despite her age still shows signs of the young star she was. Parts of the audience gathered for Marlene's performance demean her, arguing that her being sexually active has reduced her to filth. The narrator resents these thoughts, as they take away from the truth of the matter: Marlene is more than an old hag as her detractors claim, and her beauty and voice move him deeply.
The song is beautiful, yes, but what really touches me is that I've heard this story before. In fact, I'd heard it just days before listening to this song.
Manuela Casagranda is a gorgeous songstress turned doctor and professor at the Garreg Mach Officer's Academy. She is an intellingent and capable woman, but she isn't without faults. She's not well kempt, has a short temper and loves her alcohol. Because of this, she doesn't exactly have a good reputation, especially with the knights she often flirts (and sleeps) with. Despite this, Byleth (you, the player) see her true nature shine through her actions: she is kind and selfless to the point of risking her life for her students on many an occasion. She's a woman more than worthy of praise, and love. She's Fodlan's own Marlene Dietrich, and Geordie Greep's lyrics fit her to a T.
So who exactly did I realize I was I in love with? It wasn't Manuela, oddly enough (I was at the tail end of my first playthrough, an Azure Moon run where I ended up marrying Mercedes). And it wasn't Marlene Dietrich either. I had fallen in love with Black Midi, who had enchanted me completely. They were already a band I liked, but I had no clue they had this sort of song in them. I had also fallen in love with Fire Emblem Three Houses, which had shown me an incredible world and story, and given me a character that held multitudes. I've had songs remind me of video games before, but never before had I played a game and listened to a song that dovetailed so neatly and beautifully. I could see Manuela in my mind's eye, singing a song in the Garreg Mach cathedral to a cynical audience, but Byleth doesn't care about what the man sitting next to him has to say about the Divine Songstress.
But her hands loosen all / And her voice brings you youth / Her cheeks cradle the holy breath that pumps the lungs of her Mackie Messer

I've been playing Fire Emblem Three Houses again, doing Edelgard's route (my first time was Dimitri's).
Firstly I just want to say this game should've been two houses. Because it makes sense story wise to choose between the instigator and the defender, but also the two houses mirror each other:
Dimitri/Edelgard: heir to the throne with a tortured past (and they're also childhood friends or whatever, Claude is just some interloper)
Dedue/Hubert: scary right-hand-man who is devoted to the house leader
Felix/Ferdinand: the leader's rival and most vocal critic
Annette/Bernadetta: the cute, awkward and over-the-top girl
Sylvain/Dorothea: the flirty one who only seems to care about the opposite sex
Mercedes/Linhardt: the calm one
Ingrid/Petra: the tough girl
Ashe/Caspar: the son of a noble with no prospects of inheritance who tries hard to prove himself
(there might be better ways to organise some of these I mean I'm only at like the third or fourth mission for the Black Eagle route)
Maybe the Golden Deers also have parallels, I don't know, I only recruited Marianne and Leonie from that house.
Now, I don't want to suggest I dislike the Golden Deers (I mean, I married Marianne on my first Blue Lion playthrough, I love my lightning-sword-wielding-Joan-of-Arc-Holy-Knight-horse-girl-monster-wife-with-a-dark-past (I made her a holy knight and gave her a Levin sword and just seeing her on that horse reminded me of Joan of Arc I don't know anyway)), I just think their route seems to sort of just sit there.
I've also just remembered other routes exist but I don't know much about them. But the point still stands it's weird, with the most egregious example being the three-way battle where there is no reason you should be killing these guys who you go on to ally yourself with (in the BL route). Obviously there's the 'we can't see' excuse but that feels so weak.
Also I do want to say that I actually do like the idea of a three house game. I just think it should have been that all three houses are enemies during the war phase, so you are fighting on two fronts the whole time. Otherwise it's a 2 v 1 war barring that one battle (technically two if you include the one pre-timeskip).
I'm sure GD is a fun house and the route has some good moments, but from a BL perspective it felt lacking. These guys are just there, we fight them accidentally, we make up and help them out and then Claude just leaves. I'd prefer it if Claude perhaps took the opportunity of the war to take over for his own ideals or something. I don't know the guy, he appeared for what felt like all of five minutes in the BL route.
#fire emblem three houses#Claude seems cool#but yeah he feels tacked on#I still like the game immensely#BL to me was a great route and I was satisfied by it#also this was my first Fire Emblem game so I didn't have a point of comparison#I just like turn-based strategy games set in the middle ages (or equivalents thereof)#and I like visual novels and the dating/life sim parts were fun and cute#also I love the Blue Lions#but more on them another time this post got too long

Fire Emblem: Three Houses and why I'm never touching the Blue Lions ever the fuck again!
Because the Blue Lions run was the most recent run I finished, it's the freshest in my head, and thought I should give my thoughts on it, so here we go. Dimitri simps are not welcome here for this and there will be spoilers.
The Blue Lions
The Blue Lions route is by far the route that dragged the most for me of them all. My first initial impression of everyone outside of Felix, Sylvain, Dedue, or Dimitri is boring and basic as fuck. But that impression changed throughout the playthrough, with most of them rising in my impression, except for Dimitri, but we'll get to him in a second. Overall, I wouldn't play this route again unless I genuinely want to angle for that Dedue romance and I'm not sure playing this route again is worth it for this. But, let's start off with my impressions of the characters.
Sylvain: If it isn't my favorite hoe of Fodlan. He's not just your typical casanova, but someone who has a lot, and I do mean, a lot of issues with the ladies because of him being used by everyone to raise their status and become nobles by birthing Crest babies. I'm not surprised that he doesn't have A-supports with most of the ladies because of his issues and the ones he does have A-supports are Dorothea (who sees right through him), Mercedes (who has also gone through a lot due to her having a Crest), Byleth (for also seeing through him, but also helping him work through his stuff), and Ingrid (who happens to be a childhood friend of his). He's a nuanced hoe and also fun to have in the party. All of my routes have him because he's free real estate as Female Byleth. In my Black Eagles run, he was with Felix, but Blue Lions saw him get married to Ingrid.
Ashe: Unlike Sylvain, I really only got to see how good Ashe was in the Blue Lions route as I didn't recruit him in my Black Eagles run and he was the only one I wasn't able to recruit in my Golden Deer run. Ashe is such a sweetheart and a damn good Archer. I liked him a lot and strived to pair him up with Annette as I thought they'd be cute together. Ashe is a good boy and definitely worth having again.
Annette: Sadly, Annette did not get much use on her own, but she was paired with someone as their adjutant (mostly with Ashe, to grow that bond between them). But she's adorable, hard-working, and just really sweet. Didn't get much use, but that's OK. She's nice.
Ingrid: Now her? I dig her. I understand she had a lot of prejudice towards the folks from Duscar due to Glenn's death, but the fact that she does grow out of it shows the kind of growth that Ingrid does have. Unlike Dimitri, she manages to move on and develops a good bond with Dedue. Plus, as a Falcon Knight (by the end of the game), she was insanely useful and could bounce around as needed. Definitely worthy of the party.
Mercedes: My first impression of her was this: "Man, does she sound funny as fuck". But after getting to know her and learning about her past, I realized that she talks like that for a reason, but also, she's just really sweet. I honestly regret not recruiting her in my Black Eagles route as I could've learned a lot about her and Jeritza if I did that. Instead, I had to look up the context as to what I missed and it made me regret forgetting to recruit her even further. Also, she is by far the best healer out of all the healers available. The fact that her Crest allows her to heal herself when she heals others makes her a tougher, less squishy healer than anyone else. 10/10, would use her for sure.
Dedue: My main reason for playing through the Blue Lions was to romance Dedue as his romance and usage of him is route-locked to the Blue Lions. It didn't work out like that, but he's still a very useful character and I 100% do like him a lot. Enough that I worked my ass off to pair him with Flayn as I thought their support conversations were adorable. A shame that he really couldn't be recruited outside of the Blue Lions because I would do so at every turn. If I ever feel up for suffering through the Blue Lions again, I'll try to romance him.
Gilbert: What a C tier dad he is. How dare he abandon Annette and leave her all alone like that?! All because of the stuff that happened in Duscur?! Nooooo... The only reason he's not F or lower is that there are genuinely far worse dads out there in the world of Fodlan. Also, the dude lacks the courage and sense to tell Dimitri to knock his shit off and King the Fuck Up! Didn't use him, so can't talk about gameplay. Was pointless as fuck for me to do so.
Dimitri: The sole fucking reason why I hate this route. Most of the pre-time skip, he's meh at best. It's during the Holy Tomb mission that it all goes fucking downhill from there. I hate this fucking asshole so, so much. This is one angry murder hobo and unlike with Hubert or Jeritza, his murder hobo ways are a fucking detriment and ruin the entire route for me. His need for bloodlust and revenge fucked so many people over. I hate the fact that Felix lost both his father and brother because of Dimitri. Dimitri makes this route fucking unplayable and is just as bad as Noctis from FFXV when it comes to royals fucking things up by not being told to King Up and do the right thing. His fucking impatience and need to kill Edelgard dragged the war out and he outright treats Byleth like shit post-time skip by telling them to Silence and Shut up. Nah, man. Byleth wouldn't put up with that level of disrespect. Neither Claude nor Edelgard would treat her so badly after the time skip. I would've loved a route split where we take down Dimitri and have someone else step into the Lord role for the Blue Lions. And don't get me started on how his solo ending calls him the Savior King. I know that history is written by the winners, but fuck that shit. He is no savior of anything. He maintains the status quo. 0/10 - Trash character leads to trash route. Folks that love Dimitri, love yourself more than this trashcan on fire. Whatever Dimitri has, other characters do it better.
Felix: The best fucking character in the Blue Lions by far. I recruited him in both my Black Eagles and Golden Deer runs because holy fuck, he is OP as shit gameplay-wise. Story-wise, I 100% am Sympatico with him over everything that happens in the Blue Lions route. He is one of the only reasons that Blue Lions should be played as in the other routes, he gives up his position as a noble to travel, whereas, in the Blue Lions, he stays as a Noble. Felix wound up being who I romanced in my Blue Lions run, unintentionally, actually, as I forgot to talk to the Gatekeeper to have Dedue meet me, so Felix showed up at the Goddess Tower instead. Fine by me, for Felix was worth it. He's the sane man in the group and I genuinely got where he was coming from when he got pissed at what his father said after his brother, Glenn, died. If you have to play the Blue Lions again, Felix is why you should, if only for his better endings there than anything else.
The Blue Lions run would've been so, so much better if I didn't have to put up with siding with someone like Dimitri. The rest of the Blue Lions are fine and Felix is without a doubt one of the best characters in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Blue Lions route is a -2/10. Dimitri drags that score down a lot and the best Blue Lions are recruitable outside of its main route. Unless you're thirsting for Dedue or want Felix to have a nice ending, Blue Lions is a one-and-done thing for me.

Life is Strange 2 (SPOILERS)
I finished playing it recently and I really only have one, really true way to describe the experience:
Like, holy shit is this game so much of that. So, so, so much emotional damage.
My quick thoughts:
How dare you introduce the good girl Mushroom, then allow her to get killed off without giving us the opportunity of saving her, Dontnod? That is some evil shit there. RIP Mushroom.
Sean Diaz is one of the best damn characters ever put in a video game, to the point that I 100% am never going to go for an ending where he is fucked over, either in death or in prison. He's just such a good character, trying his damn hardest to protect and take care of his little brother after the loss of their father.
Out of all the chapters, in general, that hurt, Chapter 4 is the biggest one. So much pain and emotional hurt there that it was killer.
OK, game, I know that I like going as queer as possible, but did I really have to side with Finn on doing something so incredibly stupid so that I can choose to romance him? Also, no option to bang Finn too on top of the kiss? Lame!
Dontnod threw in so much good stuff in here, both in the environment, setting, and story, that I can't help but call it a masterpiece. It blows the first Life is Strange out of the water so hard that I'm surprised that folks ignored this game over the others.
I'm sad that any new Life is Strange games will be done by Deck Nine instead of Dontnod, but this just made me want to see what other games that Dontnod has out there.
If you can get this game, get it. It is so good and will cause so much emotional wreckage, it can kill. But it is an amazing game and worth the price, even without a sale.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses and my Thoughts on the Black Eagles run
At the time of this writing, I've finished, in this order: Black Eagles, Ashen Wolves, Golden Deer, and Blue Lions. So, general thoughts first and then I'll break down each House and what I thought of their routes. All routes were done with Female Byleth. Spoilers ahead, so be forewarned. This part will be about the Black Eagles and my general thoughts.
I love this game. It is such a blast to play through and it's nice actually playing a teacher that has to help their student to get better while also having that slice of life stuff I just love a lot. Please give me more slice-of-life stuff like this in video games. Gameplay is fun, the story is great, and I do not regret buying a Switch for this and Shin Megami Tensei V. I always say that it's ethical to pirate from Nintendo, but given that I was really curious about it, I'll make an exception for my usual "Do Not Buy" policy when it comes to Nintendo.
Now, onto the Houses.
Black Eagles
The Black Eagles are, without a doubt, some of my favorite party members from start to finish and, due to me not hearing much of anything from the fandom about this route beyond "I am Ferdinand von Aegir", I thought it appropriate to pick this route first.
Man, that was one adventure I was not expecting at all!
So, the main goal of the Black Eagles can be summarized like this: A bunch of folks that believe in a meritocracy decide to team up with some evil edgelords to take out the Catholic Church and personally murder their immortal pope, who just happens to be the one the Catholic Church is named after, and can also turn into a giant dragon to wreck shit up. After taking out the Catholic Church, they then backstab the evil edgelords over time. That's pretty much what's happening in the Black Eagles route. I, for one, love this.
Edelgard is one of my favorites and I adore her goals and motivations as to why she is doing this. Taking down the Church is always a worthwhile goal and, while I do like Seteth and Flayn, I'm not fond of Catherine (who is OK with doing really fucked up shit) and Rhea (who just happens to be OK with murder without trials). Is it any wonder that at the route split, I sided with Edelgard and not the Church? Also, a minor tidbit, but the reason why she donned the moniker the Flame Emperor is one that actually flew over my head hard. I thought she named herself that because she wanted to burn the Church down. Turns out, she has the Crest of Flames along with the Crest of Seiros and that's why she's the Flame Emperor. Yeah, that flew over my head. Talk about an obvious miss there. Was clearly having 20/20 Bimbo Perception that day.
Hubert is a goth murder hobo done right. Unlike Dimitri (and we will get to him when I get to writing about the Blue Lions), his murderous tendencies are controlled. There's a purpose for why he does the heavy killing load for Edelgard. He is so loyal to her that he killed his own father for betraying her. That is how loyal he is to her. I loved his character and, unlike another Robbie Daymond-voiced murder hobo, I get where he's coming from. He's also relatively useful in combat and I do dig him as my black magic user for sure.
Linhardt is the healer of the group and I loved him the second with his quick intro: "Lindhardt. Goodbye". Quick, efficient, and shows exactly the kind of character he is. He's the one I relate to the most in the Black Eagles route: I too want nothing more to do than to sleep, shirk off hard work, and study all the time. He was an instant recruit from me when I played the other runs, if only because I didn't want to kill him.
Petra is my main swordswoman and I generally love her story arc, with her being technically a prisoner from her homeland of Brigid. She's sweet but tough and I do like how she tries to learn the culture in Fodlan. She also was a recruit in my Golden Deer and Blue Lions runs, but sadly, she was just mainly recruited, not exactly used often due to the presence of Felix and Yuri.
Bernadetta, my adorable sweetheart! A lot of folks would find her fear of everything annoying, but the second I found out why, I was like, "OK, you are officially under my protection. Where is your fuckhead father so that I can bury his ass six feet under?" I am so disappointed that we do not even get even an iota of a chance to beat his ass in (or at least have Hubert mention killing him). In short, one of the best archers you can have, and while she was recruited in Golden Deer, I actually didn't recruit her in Blue Lions. Well. Fuck.
Caspar is fun. I like him. He's impulsive, brash, and just the fun of the Black Eagles. And a decent brawler too. A shame that he's actually sidelined in both my Golden Deer and Blue Lions runs due to Balthus (in the other three runs) and Raphael (in the Golden Deer run).
Dorothea was my Gremory (when I reached that class) by the end of the game and while she's a decent mage, she does get outclassed by both Hubert and Linhardt in my Black Eagles run. I do love her interactions with everybody, so that was fun. Definitely worth having, if only so that you don't separate her from Manuela.
I figured to add Jeritza here as he's exclusive to the Black Eagles, Crimson Flower route: He's OP as fuck. That man can take a hit and keep going. Also, another murder hobo, and given the reason why he went murder hobo, I can only say this: He was doing the Goddess Sothis' work on taking out his father and the rest of the Bartels out. I do not feel sorry for Baron Bartels for thinking he can even try... *that*. Ew. Gross as fuck.
And I saved the man, the meme himself, for last: Ferdinand von Aegir. He is not just a meme, he's an awesome character and by far, my favorite himbo in all of Fodlan. He was my Dancer in this run and may I say that he looked amazing in his Dancer outfit. Not to mention that I just loved how he interacted with everyone. Billy Kametz's performance as him is nothing short of excellent. Fun fact, I actually listened to his duet with Robbie Daymond in a "This is totally not Hubert and Ferdinand we're singing as *wink*" song and I did not get the context of it at first until I played the game. Now afterward, I get the context. And I aimed for that Hubert x Ferdinand ending because I like how they contrast each other. He also was an instant recruit and while he didn't get used as much in Golden Deer or Blue Lions, he's still a favorite and I did not want to fight against him.
In short, Black Eagles are 10/10, would play this route again, and will always side with Edelgard. Down with Megalomaniacal Dragon Gods. Will get to writing about the other routes soon.

13, 25, and 31 for the fe asks!
13 - What do you like most about Fire Emblem?
As a child I liked strategy games. I had FF Tactics Advance on Gameboy and I really liked the concept. So gameplay wise I liked the familiarity. And then I accidentally married Chrom on my first Awakening playthrough, discovered what that S-support thing meant, and the rest is history.
25 - Any general or specific headcanons you have?
Ooooo boi here we go:
Awakening
- Aversa is Robin's cousin (the daughter of Validar's sister), and got kidnapped and brainwashed by Validar because if he couldn't find Robin he could use her as a replacement to be Grima's vessel.
- Robin's name was Morgana, which explains why they name the kid after her (subconsciously)
- Emmeryn chose Lissa's name (from their mother Lissandra who died in childbirth).
- Lissa actually has the Brand of the Exalt. It's inside her mouth, on her palate.
- To wield Falchion, the person has to bear the Brand of the Exalt and receive Naga's Light, which is a benediction and basically Naga's green light to say "this one's a good one, you can trust them". It manifests once, when the person does something "heroic", their hair shine and they feel energy flow through them.
- Falchion can be wield by other people but it will be dull and impossibly heavy.
- Robin is "allergic" to Falchion. If they touch it, they get burnt. The sight of the sword makes them uncomfortable but they get over it in battle.
- If Robin has a second child, they will have the Mark of Grima on their sternum.
- Lon'qu and Olivia have a sibling relationship, they're actually closer than their supports suggests. Their supports are weird imo, since they're both Basilio's adopted children it feels strange that they know so few about each other. She's the only one who can approach him without him freaking out (besides his wife).
- Frederick only gets maried with serious women who have their lives together (namely Miriel, Panne, and Cherche). Aversa's an exception but it's a crack ship anyway
- Lon'qu and Sumia deserved supports
- Emmeryn is soft and gentle but does not let people walk over her. She can be as scary as her father whenn she wants to (she has to remind her advisors who's the boss sometimes)
Three Houses
- Lysithea is ace (I mean, have you seen her colors?). She has no time to be horny, she's got things to learn. Same goes for Linhardt.
- I don't know how it can work in the lore but I'm a firm believer of the "Marianne is Berkut and Rinea's child" theory. He's a very loving dad even if he looks stern btw.
- Byleth is demisexual, Sylvain and Claude are bisexual.
- Mercedes teaches Marianne how to make embroidery
- Dorothea and Sylvain hate-fucked at least once
- Byleth has always felt Sothis' "presence". Like, they feel Sothis' subconscious sort of? Basically it doesn't surprise them that much when she awakens.
- Claude wears lipgloss pre-timeskip (have you seen his lip color and how it shines?). I've also read a fic that mentions he wears khol when in Almyra and I really like the idea.
31 - Some moments of Fire Emblem you keep thinking of?
The Ball Scene in Three Houses makes me weak. Like, Claude's wink? Dimitri and Edelgard dancing right next to each other and not even dare a peek at the other??? Also we were robbed of an opportunity for everyone to show off with amazing outfits and it's my personal mission to correct that in every single fic I write.
Also that scene when Chrom recognises Lucina is *chef's kiss*
And last but not least, when Lucina wants to kill Robin. The first time I had that scene I had to put my 3DS down and pace around my bedroom because my daugther wanted to kill me to save the world and honestly? What a dilemma.
Ask me something about Fire Emblem!

Things in Fire Emblem: Three Houses that after 200+ hours still never fail to get to me (word vomit incoming):
When you’re sprinting around the monastery at the speed of light, the number of NPCs that exclaim “what the-?!” as you nyoom past them
“Please do not eat the weeds”
Sylvain’s pick-up formula that becomes incredibly apparent when you’re catching up on his support scenes with the girls - “Hey [name], you look really cute when you’re [activity/mood].”
Felix’s disdain for his father. Idk if I’m projecting but something about him unabashedly tearing his father a new one every time they see each other is incredibly therapeutic for me. Honestly, just listening to Felix verbally eviscerate people in general is incredibly satisfying. Go OFF on them, Fe!
The dramatic irony and humor that can be had/found on subsequent playthroughs when you know Seteth and Flayn’s full backstories. So many little things that I didn’t think twice about my first run are suddenly hilarious. (”Which [Saint] is your favorite, Professor?” I know your game, fish girl)
Upside down Claude memes
Hilda absolutely DESTROYING the entire enemy force and then complaining that she’s a delicate flower and the battlefield is no place for her like HONEY YOU’RE A TANK, EMBRACE IT
Placing Dedue in a choke point and activating his trait skill, then watching and laughing as people try and fail to barrel through this impassable mountain of a man, usually killing themselves in the process.
“Stay away!” Bernadetta screams in terror before absolutely erasing a man/woman/otherwise from existence.
“Burn until we meet again.”
“It’s all becoming clearer.”
Literally any and all of Sylvain’s kill/level quotes. He’s carried my dumb ass through so many battles I could probably recite them all in my sleep
How I never fail to - out loud - say “Thot” every time Sylvain’s “Be gone” kill line plays
The much more obscure reference of me - out loud - asking “For combat?” every time Ashe announces “I must steel myself!”
Feral Dimitri
“You lost to ME?” / “*sigh* and I didn’t even enjoy it.” / “You overestimated yourself.” - These are just some of the ones that come immediately to mind, but imagine, if you will, being absolutely destroyed by a pink haired loli or a sleepy wizard or an otherwise very delicate looking high school aged child and then hearing - as you pull in your last dying breath - them say that to you, as they stand over your mangled body. Seriously, these children are fucking savages.
How Sylvain, despite bitching and moaning about crest babies his entire support chain, will inevitably have boatloads of children if you get him a paired ending with a female character. I know his hypothetical family is a product of love not careful breeding, but it’s just hilarious to me. This man went from being pathologically terrified of / disgusted by the idea of continuing his family tree to adding entire branches to it. What an absolute Lad.
Sylvain and Felix’s paired endings. I love my boys so much.
Dedue and Mercedes’ paired ending / Dedue and Byleth’s paired ending. They’re the only Dedue endings I’ve seen so I can’t speak for any of his other endings, but they’re so damn wholesome they make me wanna die.
How much I relate to Bernadetta
How Edelgard goes from “stone cold bitch” to “useless lesbian” depending on whether you go Black Eagles or not
Hubert’s sense of humor. The number of times this man has startled me into a fit of laughter with his dry wit is insane.
Manuela and Hanneman’s bickering
Just how fucking broken Mercedes is as a healer. She heals herself 100% of the health she heals other people AND she can use Physic (meaning she can heal from a distance, which end-game essentially allows her to heal from across the map) WHO ALLOWED THIS ABSOLUTE LASS TO EXIST AND CAN I MARRY THEM????
Dancer Felix / Hubert. What can I say? I like my Dancers feral or otherwise vapid as fuck.
Trickster Dorothea, AKA the embodiment of my gay thirst. Get Dancer Thea outta here, Trickster Thea is where its at.
Hapi. Just Hapi.
LET ME MARRY HAPI AS A FEMC IM BEGGING YOU PLEASE
Mercedes being a gigantic troll and nobody being able to tell if it's intentional or she's just oblivious
Petra and Cyril’s supports and their paired ending. The way they promise “forever and ever” and Cyril doesn’t even stop to think about where Rhea will be during that “forever” is just *chef’s kiss* (literally any support where Cyril doesn’t mention Rhea is *chef’s kiss*)
“IS THIS SOME KIND OF SICK JOKE?!”
Just how fucking offended Ferdinand gets when you try to give a lost item to him but it isn’t his. Like chill out man it wasn’t a concentrated attack on your noble honor, I was literally just asking to be nice and cover my bases.
Lorenz and Leoni’s meal dialogue - “Ugh, you sound like my mother...”
“I lost my brother to bandits... is something I’m sure somebody’s said at some point.” On my first playthrough that was such a YIKES joke from Sylvain, but now when I play I just feel bad because that was him trying to open up and be serious and then he immediately chickened out and backpedaled and came off as a total ass because of it. (I know Miklan didn’t die to bandits, but he ran off to be a bandit and to Sylvain I feel like that might as well be the same thing. Also can we talk about how Sylvain still obviously cares about his brother even though he literally TRIED TO KILL HIM MULTIPLE TIMES THROUGHOUT THEIR CHILDHOOD AND WAS RAMPANTLY ABUSIVE TO HIM, PLEASE SOMEBODY HUG MY BOY!!!!)
Dimitri being the literal hulk and struggling not to break everything he touches
Dorothea and Marianne having themselves listed under their dislikes like BABIES PLEASE LOVE YOURSELVES
The percentage of students who have “ghosts” somewhere on their likes or dislikes. Why are they so relevant?
How you can infer Edelgard’s entire backstory from her dislikes
“GREETINGS, PROFESSOR!”
Yuri and Hubert literally threatening to kill Byleth and me looking around like John Travolta every time like “DID ANYBODY HEAR THAT?!?!?!?!”
Me holding Dedue, Felix, and post TS Dimitri back by the scruffs of their necks as they desperately try to solo every map I deploy them on. Like BOYS, please, contain your murder. I know they attacked you first, but the second line needs EXP too.
Forming a protective circle around Dedue during the attack on Enbarr in Verdant Wind, like if ANYTHING happens to my boy I WILL divine pulse don’t fucking test me (PS Dedue, if you could stop charging ahead and pay attention to my carefully constructed plan of attack, that’d be great)
Edelgard’s little ax twirl on her victory screen
“I AM FERDINAND VON AEGIR!”
#if you can't tell i've been playing three houses again#i ordered the rest of the FE lineup because three houses was my first FE game#but they won't come for a few weeks#so i've been hyperfixating on three houses real hard#fire emblem#fire emblem three houses#fe: three houses#fire emblem spoilers#three houses spoilers#expect some art soon maybe idk

Now, just for fun, I’m going to list everyone I recruited and give some brief thoughts on each one. If I spend more time on a person, it’s because I found them more interesting, or did more supports, or the like.
I did go a bit overboard recruiting people, but I feel validated by that decision considering the number of people I might have had to kill otherwise. As it is I only had to kill two people I didn’t want to – Lorenz and Caspar; Linhardt also appeared but I was able to avoid him – and while I’m sad, especially since I should have gotten Caspar for the paralogue with Mercedes and the Death Knight, it could have been a lot worse.
I will, however, skip the four DLC kids, since apparently you need to start their supports in White Clouds, I missed them, and didn’t feel like going back. So I don’t have the content there.
Here we go:
Byleth: I covered some of my thoughts on him in the post on Jeralt. I wouldn’t say that I dislike Byleth as such, but because Byleth has no dialogue and has few definite character traits beyond “doesn’t show emotion much” and maybe “likes being a teacher”, there isn’t much to work with. I suppose I find Byleth a serviceable enough player avatar protagonist, but if I were writing fan fiction or anything, I think I would need to work hard to develop a memorable personality for Byleth. As it is, Byleth only works because you imagine yourself in his or her shoes.
Sothis: I was originally quite worried about Sothis, since I thought she might be too sexualised. Fire Emblem has a bit of a tradition of uncomfortable loli characters, but fortunately in the game itself Sothis was not that bad, and definitely walks back the creepiness level from someone like Nowi. Instead it felt a bit more like Byleth was playing the same role as Micaiah, with a child-like fragment of the goddess accompanying him. I suspect other routes do more with Sothis, though, because on this route, you could probably cut Sothis from the game entirely without losing much. Azure Moon seems to be the route that is least interested in the history of the goddess, so I should not judge too prematurely.
Dimitri: The hero of this route, even if he sometimes feels like an anti-hero, or even just a psychotic maniac we unfortunately have to deal with. Of the three house leaders, I think it’s fair to say that Dimitri looks the most like a traditional FE protagonist, but as it shakes out, he might be one of the least. He seems to be quite straitlaced, reliable, and even bland at the start, but a lot of that turns out to be a cover and he goes on a real emotional journey, I suspect to a much greater extent than the other two. I do think his emotional arc goes a bit too fast and the game should have spent more time on it, but it was still a good idea, and I genuinely appreciate just how messed up and traumatised Dimitri is. He has issues, he suffers, he runs off into the wilderness and talks to ghosts, but I like it. I feel like he validates the idea that it’s okay to not have everything together. For him, overcoming his demons was the real triumph, and defeating the Empire was just a coda.
Dedue: He reminds me quite a bit of the Tellius games, with their overall subtheme of selfless service and lord/vassal relationships. Like Dimitri, he has issues, but because he’s such a quiet and reserved person, it can be easy to miss them. I suspect he’s a very easy character to misinterpret as well, both IC and OOC, where the temptation for Westerners to interpret him in terms of contemporary racial politics is going to cause problems. But ultimately I quite liked him, and felt that his faithful service really ennobles the person he serves. My one concern or regret around Dedue is that he isn’t present during the period of Dimitri’s madness, so we never get to see how his dedication to his lord might be tested. Would he enable or even encourage Dimitri’s instability? On the other hand, it seems like the belief that Dedue was dead was a major contributor to Dimitri’s madness in the first place, so perhaps if he’d been around, he would have held his friend back from the brink.
Felix: I like that Felix never stops entirely being an asshole. As time goes by his abrasiveness seems less important, and you get a better understanding of why he feels the way he does, but he’s still a bit of a jerk even to the very end, and that’s part of who he is. I also appreciate that he plays a useful role in being the only Blue Lion who actively dislikes knights and chivalry, so he’s important for the way he can provoke the others into justifying themselves. After all, the Blue Lions are a bit of a knight fan club, and he provides some contrast. Nonetheless, for all his scowling, he is a faithful retainer and can be relied on.
Ashe: He’s just a sweetheart, really. A commoner background contrasts nicely with the others, his lockpicking skill is useful, and he’s just generally very genuine and kind. Plus his appearance and voice-acting sell that he’s a bit younger than the others and on the callow side. I feel like he’s one of the characters who grows most in overall maturity, and his journey towards knighthood is probably the longest. He was a character I relied on a lot and I never got tired of him taking down the boss with a single arrow from halfway across the map. In my playthrough he ended up together with Petra and I am sure the knightly order they create will go on to be fantastic.
Sylvain: I’m a little confused by Sylvain. Early on it seems like he irrepressibly flirts with every girl he sees and always gets dumped, but later on, in part two, he clarifies that girls constantly flirt with him because they want to marry into a bloodline with a crest. It seems like it can’t be both ways? I suppose the best reading might be that Sylvain constantly flirts with strangers, who don’t know his heritage or his crest, while rejecting advances from people who do know about them, because what he really wants is someone who loves him as a person, not as a mere opportunity to increase in social status. For someone who seems so cheery and laid-back on the outside, he actually has some real problems beneath it all. That said, at times I was a bit suspicious of the translation: there are a few opportunities to call him a jerk, and I wonder if those were added, since otherwise his flirting seems like it’s presented as harmless, fun, or even a charming character quirk.
Mercedes: I didn’t think a whole lot of Mercedes at first: the caring healer character appears in a lot of FE games, she didn’t seem to put much of a twist on it, and I found her voice acting a little stilted at first. I suppose, to be fair, a soon-to-be-ordained friend of mine has a similar cadence, so it’s possible, but it did throw me off a little. For the most part I found Mercedes very reliable and my primary healer/mage, but I think a more full judgement of her character will need to wait until I do her paralogue with Caspar. Her family background and relationship with the Death Knight seem key to understanding her.
Annette: The translators and voice actor were clearly having fun with her dorky improvised songs, and I love them. They’re great. That said, Annette didn’t really come alive for me as a character until she got to interact with Gilbert. He’s probably a more interesting character than she is, really, but their relationship is what makes them both start to stand out. Overall I find her likeable and reliable, but, Gilbert aside, not one of the most fascinating characters on the roster.
Ingrid: Again, a quite straightforward character in many ways. She wants to be a knight. She trains hard. She becomes a knight. Okay. I did find it a bit odd that even at the end of the game she still talks about wanting to be a knight, even though she’s spent the last few missions entirely in the Falcon Knight and Holy Knight classes, has battled across the continent at the side of her liege, and has defeated countless enemy champions. Eventually I wanted to ask her, “What more could you possibly need to do before you’re a knight?” There is some drama around marriage and social expectations for her as well, and it surprised me that it took her so long to figure out that she could be a knight and serve her family. Her family don’t want a political alliance through marriage or anything: it is specifically money and resources that they need. Knighthood seems like a career that can bring you great wealth – plunder, ransoms, tournament rewards, etc. – so it seems like knighthood, no less than marriage to a wealthy noble after a crest, could be a path to restoring her family’s fortunes. (Also, she was the one I S-supported, so I suppose the marriage plan worked out anyway. *shrug*)
Ferdinand: Everything about him is laser-focused on this question of, “What is nobility?” At times it got a bit tedious, and I wanted him to just shut up about being a noble for five minutes. However, while he laid it on a bit thick sometimes, what I like about him is the way that his character development seems like it could really change based on which route he ends up in. After Edelgard declares war and dispossesses his father, he has a really interesting choice to make: take up arms against her and join the resistance, or accept her offer of rank and power in the Empire. Since I recruited him at the very last minute, in the last month before the assault on the monastery, I might have imagined him struggling with that choice, and I like to picture him debating the importance of visible rank and status to the nobility that he tries so hard to achieve. I could easily imagine him going either way on that choice, believing in Edelgard’s vision or passionately warring against it, and that to me made him much more interesting.
Bernadetta: Her voice actor was clearly having a ton of fun. The energy she brought to the role made the character very entertaining to listen to. That said, I feel bad for her: her extreme social anxiety is sometimes played for laughs, but knowing that it’s the result of an abusive childhood makes it quite a bit less funny. Oddly my favourite support with her was Bernadetta/Sylvain, mainly because of the supports that I saw, he was the only one who made a serious attempt to respect her boundaries and to communicate with her in a way she would find comfortable. Seriously, writing her a letter and tucking it into a book was quite clever and sensitive of him... even if he ruined it by just walking up afterwards and saying hello.
Dorothea: Judging from the online stats the game showed on loading screens, Dorothea must be one of the most popular characters in the game, and was deployed almost every mission. This makes it a bit awkward that I never really deployed her at all, or focused much on her. I don’t have anything against her, and she seems interesting enough, but I suppose I already had enough mages and other people were higher priority. Oh dear. Maybe next time. She seems to be a popular choice for the dancer class, but since I made Marianne my dancer…
Petra: On the other hand, I did like Petra a lot, built her as an assassin, and got a lot of use from her. I wonder what her odd speech pattern is in Japanese? Looks like in Japanese she misunderstands idioms, rather than misuses the present continuous tense. At any rate, I really like the role Petra plays in worldbuilding, since her status as an outsider taken to the empire to be educated as a hostage serves to characterise both Brigid and the empire itself. Like Ferdinand, I also think she’s in a fascinating position where she could plausibly end up either pro- or anti-empire. I enjoyed being able to fight for freedom and self-determination, but I could also see her buying into Edelgard’s vision of a reformed empire. That sort of flexibility seems really valuable in a game with different routes like this.
Raphael: Unfortunately another character I recruited only at the last minute and didn’t get to spend that much time with. The fact that I avoided brawlers probably didn’t help. However, from what I did see, I liked that they included a character who genuinely struggles with his studies, and I also thought it interesting that he presents yet another character who wants to be a knight, but for a totally different reason. Ashe has a romantic view of knighthood; Ingrid has a relatively romantic view as well but also thinks of fighting for her ideals; Felix outright hates knighthood and chivalry as a bunch of lies. In contrast, Raphael’s pragmatism is a little refreshing. He just wants to support his family, given his strength fighting seems like a good way to do it, and knighthood promises more stability than mercenary work. Good for him.
Ignatz: And yet another character thinking about knighthood, albeit again for a different reason. He doesn’t want to be a knight as such, but has to because it’s his duty. At times even I got a bit sick of the game constantly talking about knighthood, but the wide range of opinions on it was definitely a good thing. Alas, all Ignatz wants to do is paint and worship the goddess. Sadly I used Ashe as my main archer, so I didn’t see as much of Ignatz as I might have liked. Another playthrough, then.
Lysithea: See above, really. I get the impression she’s a quite popular character, but as with Dorothea, I already had a few mages and didn’t have much need for her. I’m guessing she would have a lot more importance on a route where her backstory with what are presumably creepy Slitherer magical experiments is more relevant? As it is, sorry, I just didn’t see that much. Young, likes sweets, ambitious in order to help her family because she hasn’t got long to live… but that’s about all I got.
Marianne: On the other hand, I did use Marianne quite extensively. She was my backup healer after Mercedes, and she was my dancer, so she was very useful. (Some might say it was cruel to make her dance in public: I thought it might help build her confidence!) Her paralogue also stood out to me as one of the most interesting and fun. At first I thought her self-loathing might be irrational or a symptom of depression, but it turns out that she actually has quite an understandable reason for thinking that she’s awful and that no one should ever get close to her. Bringing peace to her ancestor and giving her the opportunity to increase her confidence and bloom as a person was very heartwarming. Her character arc gave me some WAFFy feelings, and I enjoy that sometimes.
Leonie: It’s weird to me that a character defined by her relationship with Jeralt, the player’s father, is so easy to miss recruiting. Nonetheless I did pick her up, because I love cavaliers and use far too many of them. Still, most of the other cavaliers were nobles, which made Leonie’s role as a mercenary knight a nice change. I think it might have worked better, though, if I’d known a bit more about the role of mercenaries in Fódlan. Are there mercenary companies? How do they usually find work? It would have been nice to know a bit more about the world that Byleth supposedly comes from, and which Leonie is so keen to break into.
Seteth: I was not a big fan of Seteth at first, but he grew on me, which surprises me particularly since I was on a route that never actually explains what his deal is. I feel like every long-term series fan, on meeting Seteth and Flayn, must have gone “oh they’re dragons”, because they fit that archetype just so closely, but somehow I got through the entire arc without anyone figuring it out. Nonetheless, while he starts off as quite suspicious of you, and even hostile, I enjoyed how further supports gradually humanised him. Seteth/Felix or Seteth/Ingrid, for instance, stood out to me as nice: the older man going out of his way to give practical advice to someone who’s still sorting himself or herself out. He’s a good mentor. I know often the thing people remember about Fire Emblem is the young protagonists and the shipping and so on, but sometimes it’s the older, more mature characters that I find the most interesting.
Flayn: In contrast, I did not find Flayn as interesting as Seteth. She’s a nice enough person, and the enthusiasm of the Flayn/Dedue support was cute, but ultimately I didn’t see that much of her. Mercedes and Marianne were my primary healers, and Byleth had a high Faith skill as well, so I didn’t need another one and didn’t take her along that often. I hope there are more depths, because as it is, I wasn’t that struck by her.
Hanneman: Another character I generally did not take along, so most of what I learned about Hanneman was around crests and his scientific curiosity. I think Hanneman supports my previous speculation that Fódlan might be starting on an intellectual renaissance at the time of the game. He is the Father of Crestology, even though crests have been known for a thousand years. That suggests that the organised, academic study of such matters is in its infancy.
Manuela: Again, not someone I looked at too closely, and her most obvious character trait, her romantic loneliness, could be a little bit cringeworthy at times. I would have to do more supports and look more closely at her to form a stronger opinion. The parts that I found most interesting with regard to her were about her history with the opera. Her relationship with Dorothea seems like it might reveal some more about both of them, but alas I didn’t use each character much.
Gilbert: On the other hand, I did use Gilbert quite a lot, since Dedue went missing for a while and I needed a substitute tank. Gilbert is clearly a loyal man who has suffered an immense amount, especially under the weight of guilt and self-doubt. It’s striking that he abandoned his family and homeland and fled to the church in order to assuage the weight of guilt he felt for the king’s death; but in the end the separation from his family only intensified feelings of guilt and unworthiness. Nonetheless, despite being a man who’s really screwed quite a lot up, he stoically tries to coordinate the Faerghus war effort, even when Dimitri is in his worst state. I was very glad to eventually get the Annette/Gilbert paired ending, as a valuable reminder that even at Gilbert’s age, it is possible to start healing and putting your life back together.
Alois: I really only got the Byleth support with Alois, so I don’t have that much to say. His cheery optimism is a nice change after a lot of the other faculty and knights are either serious or sad, and I enjoy horrible puns as much as the next man, but I think I need to see more.
Catherine: Speaking of cheery knights, Catherine’s rough-and-tumble confidence is also pretty appealing. Unlike the students, Catherine is strong and she knows that she’s strong, with a confidence that comes of years of fighting. What I saw of her personality I generally liked, and I learned a bit about her history, but I’m going to hold off on any further comments until I get some more context for her and Rhea. She is obviously incredibly devoted to the archbishop who saved her life, and in some ways seems to have reinvented her life from who she was before (cf. Dedue, the loyal service theme again), but I think I should need to see a route where Rhea plays a larger role before I come to conclusions.
Shamir: I like Shamir quite a lot, and she might be my favourite of the knights, even though she doesn’t have much to do with the actual plot. Her outsider status is the most striking thing about her: unlike pretty much everyone else, she has no personal investment in Fódlan or its politics, which frees her to focus on the needs of the moment. I would like to know a bit more about Dagda and Brigid, to be honest, but I suspect I’ve seen all there is to see already...
Cyril: Unfortunately I never used him. I can tell that he’s the Est of the game, a young character who probably has excellent growths and can excel in any class, but my roster felt pretty complete by the time I got him, he didn’t seem like he had interesting relationships with other characters that I might want to explore, and he’s so young that I feel uncomfortable making him a soldier. I can completely accept that there might be really good material around him, perhaps especially on the Golden Deer route where Almyra might come up, but as it is I don’t know any of it.
Anna: Yep, she’s Anna. Not much to say. Anna is always the same character, and Fódlan’s Anna doesn’t seem particularly special or unique.
…phew, that took much longer than I thought. These games and their giant casts, man.

I survived (Blue Lion Route)
92 hours and 9 minutes of Blue Lions and I survived!!
Supported Dimitri and I grinned like an idiot. The last time I was crazy for a FE pairing was Chrom/Robin so I think it says something.
My endings for this game:
Alois, Gilbert, and Ignatz stayed alone (I didn’t have enough for Ignatz so I will work on him in the Golden Deer)
Marianne/Hanneman - this was actually quite adorable.
Lysithea/Cyril - I was originally going for Lysithea and Felix but switched over to Cyril instead and I loved their ending!! (Even though I still got the crappy bit at the end, it said she was happy).
Seteth/Manuela - I was all over the place for those two and who I wanted to support but I decided to go with them and damn it! I loved it! (wish I could have seen Flayn’s expression though)
Bernadetta/Raphael - this was an interesting one, especially the final sentence ‘She even took on a very muscular husband.’ LOL.
Linhardt/Petra - this was an interesting ending. There isn’t much of Linhardt in the ending, just they had a healthy and affectionate relationship.
Ferdinand/Flayn - I admit, I fell in love with them in the support and I was so happy I got their paired ending. They seem to end up as a power couple and I can only imagine Seteth’s face at the pairing.
Catherine/Shamir - enough said.
Lorenz/Leonie - I was going to go for Marianne and Lorenz but I fell for them during their A supports and I needed to see how I went. It went brilliantly!!!
Dorothea/Felix - Yep, I went for this because I knew Felix/Annette were cute and Sylvain/Felix were popular but they captured my heart and I needed to know how it ended. It’s really sweet.
Ashe/Annette - I knew from their very first support that I wanted to get their paired ending and I love it!!! The two adorable kids grew up to be a power couple I knew they would be.
Caspar/Hilda - Hilda was difficult because she had a few supports I liked but I ended up going with Caspar because of their last support - he promises to help her with needs, she invited him back to her room and he totally misunderstood lol. I loved that they ended up with a ‘notoriously lively household’!
Sylvain/Mercedes - they were so damn sweet together and I love their ending, that they proved to the world that no-one needed a crest to live a happy and fulfilled life.
Dedue/Ingrid - they made me switch from Ingrid/Seteth to them and I’m glad for it. Though curiously enough, it just said odd friendship yet that works out even better.
Finally
Byleth/Dimitri - my duo who dominates the battlefield, became parents to unruly children (and there was a lot) and soft for each other got married, had heated debates, who remained hopelessly in love til the ends of their days (which is all I wanted for them).
I survived.
I did consider going back and doing all the supports for Byleth but, to be honest, I’m not really that interested in all of them.
Golden Deer will be next - where I will romance Sylvain. Curious about who I will be interested in pairing.
Black Eagles will be after that - Route 1 - where I will romance Ferdinand.
Route 2 - Eh...I will wait and see, still miffed I can’t romance Hilda as a female-Blyeth.
As for male playthrough - I will wait and see. Not a 100% sure I wanna go through all of this again lol.
Bonus for Fem-Byleth - I only have Claude, Hubert, and Edelgard for their supports. Rhea and Sothis too but I’m not sure how to go about getting Sothis (or if I actually wanna go down that route because knowing the background, it’s kind of...twisty?)
but right now?
I’m taking a break from playing three houses, going back to finish off stories I need to finish and actually getting round to playing Astral Chain that I go. (And myabe the Last Remnant cause I’m a sucker for that pain-in-the-ass game)
#Dani plays Fire Emblems#Fire Emblem:Three Houses#FE:Three Houses#FE:TH spoilers#FE:TH#Endings#pairings#I'm a sucker#Dimileth all the way here#like crazy#but I did fall in love with other pairings#Blue Lions#taking a break now

which routes have you done in three houses so far? are there any students or ships you ended up particularly liking? or are you waiting to see the whole story before you decide? :3c
This got a bit long so I’m adding a read more. ^^;
I’ve beaten the Blue Lions route, and I’m now over halfway through the Golden Deer route. From what I’ve seen, I really love all the students a lot, so it’s hard to narrow it down for me.
I do have a few ships as well that I’m enjoying, though I might give some supports another look to see if they’re any good. I recruited everyone on my Blue Lions playthrough, and I did the same on my Golden Deer. Because I recruited everyone on my first playthrough, I’ve seen almost all of the supports; however, the abundance of them means I can’t really look at them as objectively as I would like. As of right now, I’m only missing supports that involve a male Byleth, Edelgard, and Hubert. I have almost all of Claude’s supports, though I need to finish his chain with Flayn.
I have a list on my FE ships page, though it’s subject to change as I play more routes and give more supports a once-over. Some of my current personal faves are Dimitri/Marianne (I have a lot of Marianne ships since her supports are really sweet. Not too many Dimitri ships, though I do ship him with Dedue as well. I’ll have to give his a once-over too), Sylvain/Mercedes (though I do ship Sylvain with all of his non-Byleth romance options, including Felix. I also like Mercedes with Annette and Dedue as well, but the support with Sylvain and Mercedes just gives me lots of feels) Cyril/Lysithea (really the only ship for either character that I like so far. I might look at some other ones again), Catherine/Shamir, a few Dorothea ships (with Ferdinand and Petra being my personal faves), also some Ferdinand ships (I already mentioned Dorothea, but also Marianne, Bernadetta, and Flayn. I also remember his Petra support being good, so I’ll have to look at that one again).
As for any Byleth ships, I don’t really have any as of now? Don’t get me wrong, I like a lot of their supports, but they seem a little one-sided to me given you mostly get to pick what Byleth says. Not to mention how S-supports work in this game, which makes it hard to look at the Byleth supports as a whole without going to YouTube and potentially spoiling myself. I think part of this might be because of Byleth being a silent protag. As such, I tend to project my own tastes onto him/her to compensate, though since I’m a demiromantic demisexual, it’s kind of hard for me to do so.
That said, I married my female Byleth off to Seteth in my Blue Lions playthrough (though I nearly went with Dedue, Mercedes, or Felix) and I’m thinking I’ll go for Claude in my current playthrough. As for the Black Eagles, I’m thinking Dorothea might be a good option, though Edelgard and Hubert might have some nice supports with Byleth, so it’s not completely set in stone). I will occasionally reblog some posts with my choices (or near-choices since I do kind of lowkey ship them (I might highkey ship them once I play through all the routes and look at the supports and endings again).

Fire Emblem: Three Houses *Spoilers*
Okay, so I just finished the Blue Lion’s storyline...
...and I have say, first and foremost, thanks for being a game that got to me for the first time in decades. I...was not expecting to have to pretty much kill my former students? Thanks! I kid you not though, as I had NO idea about any of what was going to occur, that first night where I had to like, kill Ferdinand, this dude I was just literally giving gifts to? Gave me some WILD dreams.
There is a billion percent good chance I missed a great deal but...a lot of plot points seem missing? And I can swing with Byleth tipping the scales depending on what team they’re on but...I can’t imagine it shifting it to the point where one side is just undeniably right and the other is undeniably wrong. I feel good about Dimitri’s side as the epilogue indicates they fixed both the government AND church. As much as I’d like to say ol’ Edelgard was just nuts, I got bad vibes from Rhea too.
Of Note:
-I would really, really like if Fire Emblem didn’t give us these 80s movie vignette style endings. Like, illustrate a few pictures based on the ending? They don’t even have to be that detailed but...
-Awakening very much spoiled me. Let me dictate which of these jerks are getting married, k? Thanks.
-Support system was not my favorite here. I know it got to be very overkill in Awakening but here it was a little lackluster to me.
-For real, if I just didn’t have a chance to recruit from the other house but I had a high enough relationship, I feel like we ought to have been able to recruit them on the battlefield if Byleth approached them after the time skip. (If this was an option, oops)
-So...I figured out the Death Knight thing right off the bat. Did Mercedes have to be really close to him in his final battle to remark on it though?? EDIT: Read that I needed to have recruited Caspar for a better ending to this?? Like, wasn’t even on my radar? Should I have just tried to recruit everyone then??
-Rhea doesn’t even get to SPEAK again? Like, couldn’t she have been like, ‘yea, the church did do some horrible things, I’m going to take a seat and retire’. Instead, it was like, she was tired and stepped down? Okay.
-Claude is essentially the ‘Ight, Imma Head Out’ meme.
I’d give it a healthy 9/10. There were a few things that could have been a little cleaner but maybe I’ll discover more on my second playthrough now that I know what I’m doing.

Supportive – Who did you S-rank and why?
man who HAVEN’T i s-ranked tbh sdlkj
ok but seriously, in awakening i married chrom the first time because. i love him. in other playthroughs i’ve married brady, panne and...i think tiki? my reasoning for marrying them is simple: i wuv them
i’ve played fates like a million times so i KNOW im missing people but. uh. i’ve married benny, shura, silas, kaze, odin, laslow, jakob, arthur and saizo. but of all of them i’ve married shura three times. which is. admittedly because there aren’t too many guys in birthright that i want to marry y’know.
in three houses i married mercedes in my blue lion run! i’m still trying to figure out who to marry on my golden deer run but im definitely marrying edelgard when i play black eagles and either dorothea or seteth when i play church route.

supportive, veteran, and inspiring song!
supportive – who did you s-rank and why?
in awakening, my first s-support was with frederick! it was mostly because he was so distrustful of my mu at first and i was like ‘haha, we’ll see how long that lasts.’ and i ended up genuinely loving him? i’ve done a lot of awakening runs, and so far i think i’ve married chrom, stahl, maribelle, olivia, cherche, cordelia… if there are more i forget tho whoops
in fates, i married jakob in conquest (then immediately regretted it tbh), scarlet in birthright, and keaton in revelation! i’ve also married peri… but i haven’t gone back and replayed fates at all. i don’t remember the reasoning behind them, but… eh.
and in three houses so far i’ve married mercedes in golden deer as f!byleth, i’m planning on marrying dimitri in blue lions, and… i’m undecided for black eagles or the church, but i’m thinking seteth for the church route and hubert for black eagles? i also want to go back and replay golden deer for claude lmao whoops
veteran – which fe games have you played and which is your favourite?
let’s see… i’ve played awakening, all 3 routes of fates, echoes, path of radiance, and i’m currently slooowly trekking my way through blazing blade, marth’s games, and sacred stones alongside three houses. and then there’s warriors lmao. does heroes count? because i’m playing that too hah. and while it’s not exactly playing, i’ve watched a playthrough of binding blade as well!
as for my favourite… it was echoes, but three houses has actually taken the top spot so far! i love the characters, i love that there’s no golden ending where everyone is happy and well, i love the setting and worldbuilding… the art style took a while to grow on me but i really do like it now… i just. i really think it’s neat!
inspiring song – favourite song(s) from the series?
hmmm the first song that came to mind is twilight of the gods, so let’s go with that for now haha! the battle music from book iii of heroes is also really good, too… and fodlan winds is also really high up there now………..
