Pet Names And Airplanes
When a very sleepy Paige lets out some interesting noises, you find that the lines of your friendship have blurred considerably.
Paige Bueckers x reader
Based on this request: I have a request but it's not fully thought out but all the traveling she's been doing has got me thinking. Basically Paige x friend where there's some tension emotionally and physically but neither of them know it rlly. Paige is groggy bc they had to catch an early flight to go somewhere and while sitting next to each other on the plane, her mind starts wandering and she accidentally says smthg dirty out loud to the reader which obviously leads to a build of tension on their flight that they end up having to deal with. How they deal w it and such can be up to you.
Word Count: 1.7k
Themes: friends to lovers, one bed trope!, slightly inappropriate behavior
You can now read Part 2 here
Please send more requests, you guys always have the best ideas omg
------------------------------------------------
If there was one thing undeniable about Paige Bueckers, it was that she really loved her friends. Some in different ways than others, as you would come to learn.
Growing tired of Paige’s incessant whining about missing Nika, who was now in Seattle playing for the Seattle Storm, you had purchased tickets to a game for her.
You had surprised the tall blonde one evening when the two of you were lounging on her couch, absentmindedly watching a random romcom. Paige was tracing small circles on the soft skin of your forearm, and you had figured it was as good of a time as any to break the news.
“Paigey,” you murmured, grabbing her attention from the screen. “I know you’ve been missing Nika, so I got us tickets to go see her play in Seattle on Saturday.”
Before you can go into details, Paige is launching herself into you, and whispering thanks over and over again into the crook of your neck. Goosebumps erupt all over, as you feel the warm breath of her gratitude fan against your skin.
“We’re leaving Friday morning. It’s an early flight, so you better get your ass to bed early that night,” you say with fake mockery. Paige could not wake up early to save her life, whilst you typically preferred to be in bed by 11.
“You’re the fuckin’ best, princess,” Paige mumbles, her face reddened by more than just your teasing. She is still hiding in your presence, and the closeness makes your heart speed up. This wasn’t the first time, and it surely would not be the last.
Paige just had that effect on you.
~
Thursday evening rolls around, and you decide it would make more sense to spend the night at Paige’s apartment to save time in the morning before catching your flight. You stroll through the door and your gaze is immediately drawn to chaos. The apartment was in ruins with shit scattered everywhere.
“P!” You call out, trying to figure out where your friend was hiding. “This place is a fucking disaster. What happened?”
Paige emerges from her room with a sheepish smile on her face. “Couldn’t figure out what to wear,” she shrugs nonchalantly.
“You need to clean this shit up. I’ll pack.” Your voice is laced with disapproval, but the fond smile on your face gives you away.
“Thanks, princess,” Paige beams, and your heart falters once more.
That nickname would be the cause of a future arrhythmia, and it was not going away. Paige had called you ‘princess’ one evening while she was drunk. And it had just stuck. She rarely called you by your name anymore, and you were so okay with that. The term of endearment was now the object of all of your fantasies. You had spent an embarrassing amount of nights in your bed with a hand between your legs, imagining Paige on top of you whispering that name in your ear.
You feel yourself heat up at your reveries, and you clear your throat in an attempt to dissuade the longingness you felt. Paige was just a friend. That’s all she’d ever be to you.
Once the mess was cleaned up and Paige’s suitcase was packed to perfection by your type-A ass, you fell into bed next to the blonde girl. It was early, and while you were eager to go to bed in order to get a few solid hours of sleep, Paige was bustling with energy.
“Stop actin’ like a grandma, and talk to me,” Paige whines, while bouncing obnoxiously on the plush mattress.
“Go to sleep. You’ll thank me in the mornin’,” you respond sleepily, eyes already closed with a fierce determination to ignore Paige’s childish antics.
Paige doesn’t respond, but chooses to pout in faux indignation.
Her pouting keeps her up for three more hours. And as your shrill alarm bit through the silence of her dark room, waking you both up, you knew Paige was about to be a real problem.
She groans at the piercing noise, hiding her head under the blankets.
“C’mon, Paigey. Wakey, wakey,” you giggle as you tickle her writhing figure in an attempt to get her ass out of bed.
She ultimately relents at the promise of breakfast on the way to the airport. Even as you pull her through the bright airport, Paige is trying to do anything in her power to close her eyes for a few precious seconds of shut eye. It was so like her, and her refusal to admit that you were right should have made you annoyed. But Paige could never really do anything to actually annoy you.
Standing protectively behind you in the TSA line, you feel her eyes trailing your figure in a way that makes you feel hot and slightly insecure. You had thrown on a pair of leggings and an oversized UCONN basketball t-shirt, and the shirt had ridden up. Paige had a perfect view of your backside. Turning around to talk to her, you notice her gaze is directed at your ass, and your cheeks are suddenly ablaze at the shameless ogling.
Paige was always flirty with you, but lately it had been weaved with something more.
Finally, the two of you are able to board, and Paige slumps into her seat with a loud groan of exhaustion. You roll your eyes and get yourself situated for the long ride to Seattle. You had already mentally prepared for the fact that Paige would spend most of the flight using you as a pillow. However, you were less than prepared for the noises that would soon come out of your best friend’s sleeping mouth.
The television attached to the seat in front of you showed that the plane was flying over Montana when you were suddenly pulled out of your thoughts by several small noises coming out of Paige’s mouth. The first one was quiet but fucking guttural. The second one is followed by whining. The last one makes your heart stop. A tiny moan of “princess” slips out, and your legs involuntarily clench at the sound.
Was she dreaming about you?
Fuck no. That was impossible, and you refused to get even the smallest of hopes up.
Until your name slips out in a faint whimper, and there is no denying that you were the object of her dream.
Shit.
Before she could get any louder and attract some unwanted attention, you jostle her ever so slightly, waking her up. Her eyes are bleary, and she looks around for a second, as if she has forgotten where she was. Her gaze settles on yours briefly before she is tearing it away to stare down at her hands. She is uncharacteristically quiet for a moment, and it makes you wonder if she had recalled any part of her little dream. Not wanting to embarrass her, you drop it, instead informing her that you’d be landing in an hour.
Paige doesn’t miss the way your eyes drop to her lips, as your bottom one is caught between your teeth in a bruising bite. There was always sexual tension between the two of you. Always a ‘what if’ and a ‘if only’ after each interaction, but you had both ignored it in favor of protecting the delicacy of your friendship.
~
Soon enough, you and Paige are stepping out of the elevator of your hotel. With the time change, it was still morning, and you had promised Paige that you’d let her take a nap before going out to explore and meet up with Nika. Paige was desperate for sleep now, and you don’t miss the bruised look of her under eyes.
You open the door to the room, eyes immediately drawn to the large bed placed right in the center of the room. Shit, you thought you had requested two beds. Looking warily over at Paige, you notice her tongue peaking out to slowly trace across her bottom lip in a subtle display of want. Maybe sharing a bed after all this wouldn’t be such a bad thing after all.
Once all of your stuff is placed neatly away, and Paige haphazardly throws her stuff onto the empty desk in the corner, you settle onto the soft bed with a small moan of content. Your body sinks into the soft sheets and plush pillows, and Paige’s warm body next to you beckons you to scooch closer into her. It felt blissful, and it did not take long before you were both enveloped in the welcoming nothingness of sleep.
Several hours slipped by before you wake up, suddenly feeling sticky from both the sleep and the hot body pressed up against you. Paige had nuzzled into your neck, a long muscular arm thrown around your waist, caging you in deliciously.
As she lets out a puff of air against your throat, a tiny whine escapes your mouth, similarly to the noises Paige had been making on the airplane. As quiet as you thought you were, Paige wakes with a startle, and her bright blue eyes are peering curiously into yours.
“You okay, princess?” She asks, a small smirk on her face, as if she knew what you were thinking.
“Course.” You affirm, eyes flitting back and forth between those eyes and her lips. You were no longer hiding the want in your own eyes.
Paige chuckles, and the noise goes straight between your legs, reverberating through your entire body. The effect she had on you was maddening.
Before you can even begin to overthink, Paige is bringing her face even closer to yours. You can feel her breath fan over your mouth, and you hold your breath for a second, afraid that if you let out any air, she would pull away and retreat.
Paige searches your face for a sign of reluctance but she finds nothing, and she presses her lips against yours. A moan leaves her mouth as your lips connect, and you can feel the already blurry lines of your friendship completely entangle.
You did not care, though. Because Paige’s mouth was on yours and everything else seemed to fade away into nothingness.

It's my first time writing a/b/o, and I'm a little unsure of where this is going exactly, but I hope everyone will have fun on the rollercoaster that this fic is bound to be!
masterlist
word count: 7k
warnings: defintely some angst in here, but lighter angst?, reader is anxious at parts, but like for the most part, there's really not much to warn about I think? Please let me know if I'm wrong or if I need to add anything!
Tumblr media
Y/n wasn’t expecting any emails, but when she heard the ding that let her know she had received one, she immediately looked. She never knew when she’d get another freelance job, so whenever an email came in, she developed the habit of checking it. This wasn’t a work email, no, but it was from one of the stores she had recently bought a couple of Stray Kids albums from. From the subject line, it was about the albums she had bought, and a fansign? She doesn’t remember signing up for one, but she also has been so busy, she probably forgot about it.
Opening up the email, she found that she had won a place at an in person fansign in Seoul, in two days. She was so shocked by this news that she held her breath, not thinking this was real for a moment. She read through the email fully, memorizing every word, she really had won, holy shit. She thanked the gods that she didn’t work a physical job, because it meant she could work from anywhere, and she started figuring out her trip to Seoul. There was no way she was missing out on a chance to meet Stray Kids.
She quickly found a plane ticket, even if it was insanely expensive, and she thanked herself for her savings, having to dip into that a bit for this trip. She then moved on to finding a place to stay, and found a nice hotel that wasn’t outrageously expensive, and immediately booked it. She’d be flying out in about seven hours, leaving her to scramble to pack and leave for the airport. Quickly packing her luggage, having a packing list made up from previous trips, she packed clothes for a week, deciding to explore a bit since she was going there.
Y/n’s travelled enough to have mastered the skill of packing efficiently, gathering everything she needed into 3 pieces of luggage. She double-checked her travel list, making sure she had packed enough for her trip. Before she shoved her laptop and cords into her bag, she sent out an email to her current clients stating that she had an emergency occur, and that her work may be delayed by a day. At this point, it was almost time for her to head to the airport. So, she finished packing the last of her things into her carry-on. Remembering to grab her coat before putting her shoes on, she grabbed her bags and left the apartment.
She took a taxi to the airport, and on the way there, texted her best friend Emily that she was heading out of the country and asking her to watch over her apartment while she was gone. Emily agreed right away, and told her not to worry about anything. She smiled down at her phone, her bestie was her ride or die, and she was so grateful to have her in her life.
When she arrived at the airport, she thanked the driver, pulling her luggage out of the trunk and heading straight to the check in counter. The process was smooth and she was quickly on her way to security, which while terribly busy, went by quickly and soon she was sitting at her gate, having grabbed a couple snacks for the plane and filled up her water bottle on the way over there. She had about an hour before boarding, so she pulled out her laptop, deciding to get some work done while she waited. She finished off the last edits to one project, sending that off to one of her clients, before starting on one of her other projects.
Halfway through her second project, the call for boarding went out over the P.A. system, and so she saved her work, slipping her laptop back into her bag before lining up with everyone else. She was lucky enough to get a last minute window seat on the plane, putting her carry-on in the overhead bin, before settling in her seat as she pushed her smaller bag under the seat in front of her. She looked out the window as the plane took off, the start of her journey to Seoul, and meeting Stray Kids, was starting now. Since it was a relatively long flight, she pulled out her laptop once she was able to do so, starting back on the project she worked on earlier. She spent the majority of the flight working on her current workload, which was about four projects at the moment.
They were all fairly simple projects, they just took time to perfect them, but it was a great way to pass the time. By the time she finished her last project, there was only a couple hours left of the flight, and so she rested and watched the clouds roll by. Y/n admired the view as they landed in Seoul, excited to explore the city.
Patiently waiting to disembark the plane, she waited until she was able to leave her row, grabbing her bag from the overhead bin and then bringing it down, pulling it behind her as she left the plane. She pulled it along, heading towards the luggage carousel, before she went through customs and immigration, quickly clearing them and heading out into Seoul. She took the metro to head towards her hotel, unpacking her headphones and listening to music to pass the time on the train. Once off the train, she pulled out her phone to find her hotel location, quickly finding her way to the hotel. Thankfully, it was late enough that she could check in right away and head to her room. She took the elevator up, finding her room midway down the hallway, and upon opening the door, found that she had a beautiful view of the city around her.
She dropped her luggage by the bed, and walked towards the window, admiring her view of the city. She may not be a heights kind of person, but this was still beautiful, and she would be looking out a lot during her week here. She hauled her suitcase up onto the bed, pulling out a fresh outfit, before heading to the bathroom to shower. Once she had, she changed into her fresh outfit, pleased to get the smell of the airplane and airports off of her. Since it was still light out for a while, she decided to get out into the city and explore the neighborhood around her. She packed her smaller bag with the necessities, grabbing her key card on the way out the door and quickly going back down to the lobby and out into the fresh air.
Y/n knew travelling alone as an omega always brought risks with it, but it was worth it to be here in Seoul, both for the fansign and just in general. It was sunny and warm in Seoul, a great contrast from back home, and she was living for it. She was always a warm weather kinda girl, and the warm air and sunshine here made her thrive. She decided on just walking the area around her, figuring tomorrow would be one of her bigger exploration days.
She saw a lot of stores that intrigued her, but thought better of shopping, she’d be exhausted much quicker if she gave into that urge. She was glad that she brought her headphones, it helped distract from the loud noises of the city, and brought the level down to a reasonable one she could deal with. The hustle and bustle of the city was normal to her, since her own city was similar,
Up until now, her omega had been strangely quiet. Usually she was very outspoken, more so than y/n herself was. Her omega was going haywire at the moment, confusing the poor girl as to what set the omega off. She felt almost pulled forward, and her omega pushed to the surface, making her walk faster to wherever that pull was coming from. It culminated in her running into someone, and ended with her on the ground in front of them, looking up at their mask-covered face.
“Are you alright? I’m sorry that I bumped into you.” The person said as they leaned down, reaching out a hand to her. She tentatively took it, and she stood up with their help. Standing so close to them, she could smell their citrusy sweet scent, it calling to and calming her omega. That confused her slightly, but she shook it off, not wanting to think about it now.
“I’m okay, and really, I bumped into you. I should be the one apologizing.” She replied.
“Let’s just say we bumped into each other then? We both played a part in this.” They told her, and she could see that they were smiling by the crinkles near their eyes.
“I can agree to that.” Y/n replied, giggling slightly.
She saw as the other person took a breath of her scent, and for some reason they stumbled back away from her, their eyes widening.
“I’ve got to go, I’m sorry.” They said, rushing away from her, leaving her standing there alone on the sidewalk.
She watched him run away, and her omega cried out, and y/n felt like she had been punched in the stomach. Her anxiety shot up, and tears came to her eyes. She’s so confused, she doesn’t completely understand what’s just happened, and why she was so affected by it.
She felt increasingly down as she walked back to her hotel, no longer feeling any urge to explore, just wanting to retreat back into her room and nest. She speed-walked into the hotel elevator, avoiding everyone. Once back in her room, she locked her door and got to work making a nest in the bed, using everything she could. She finished it and then climbed inside, curling up into herself as her omega cried out to someone, for an unknown reason. That, and she couldn’t take her mind off of the person who ran away from her, and everytime she thought of him, it made her chest hurt.
In the end, she fell asleep, and she dreamed of them again. She had dreams every so often about Stray Kids, and she assumed this was once again, her brain being delusional. She dreamed about going on vacation with them, assumedly in Australia given her surroundings, but she felt that this dream was different.
She noticed that this time, the member’s touch and reactions felt more real? It felt like these were actually the boys, and not figments of her imagination like they usually did. Their eyes seemed shocked, even as they all enjoyed the dream. They were more touchy with her, Felix especially. She noticed that he looked similar to the person she ran into earlier, but shook it off as her just being delusional again. She enjoyed her dream and found happiness with the boys, as it was just a dream, that’s all.
Waking up the next morning in her makeshift nest, she whined at the lack of someone beside her, having fallen asleep in her dream next to the boys. Her scent smelled like burnt honey and vanilla because of her sadness, but she pushed through, thinking of happy thoughts and how she’d get to see the boys later today. She got up, having to get out of her nest that smelt like sadness. Pulling out an outfit for the fanmeet, she quickly showered before changing, and then moved onto her makeup and hair. She did her makeup like she usually did, leaning more towards a very natural look, knowing if she wore too much, it would be harder to touch up later on.
Before leaving her room, she checked the rules for attending the fansign, and quickly memorized them. She headed back to the bathroom, since one of the rules was wearing scent blockers, and quickly applied them to her scent glands, making sure she covered them fully. The rule had been put into place because of an incident with a second gen girl group fansign years ago, she remembered the aftermath of it very well, despite being young at the time. One of the fans, an alpha, attended the fansign and tried to overwhelm one of the omega members of the group with her scent, and since then, companies have made it mandatory that scent blockers be worn during fansigns.
Checking her outfit in the mirror once again, she made sure it looked right, fixing anything that was out of place. She had decided on an outfit that reminded her of a mix of Felix and Han’s individual styles, but had blended them together in her outfit. Plus, it was really comfy, and knowing she had a long day in front of her, she didn’t want to be stuck in something uncomfortable. She grabbed her bag, setting out for the day. She planned to explore and see some tourist sights first, before the fansign, since it wasn’t starting for a couple hours from then.
She mostly wandered as she wanted, not having a specific destination in mind. She found herself wandering a market and buying some snacks along the way. Everything she bought tasted better than the prior snacks, and she had to leave the market in a hurry lest she get distracted. To her benefit, however, this passed enough time that she almost had to run to make it to the fansign venue.
She made it there in under 20 minutes, and hopped in line with everyone else, having brought her ID, and had the email that she won as well. Checking in was a simple process for the most part, however the ID checking part was the most tedious. Once that was finished and they confirmed that she was who she said she was and that she was allowed entry, she was quickly shuffled into the hall where the fansign took place.
Y/n found herself about midway between the front and back of the hall, and almost straight in the middle of her row. She greeted the girls next to her, making small talk with them as much as she was able to with her limited knowledge of Korean. They mostly talked about their favorite members and songs, and whose outfits they liked the most in this recent comeback. Y/n enjoyed chatting with the other girls, and a couple more of the ones around them joined in as well, and just before the boys walked out, they had created a small group chat, adding each other on kakaotalk.
The minute the boys walked out on the stage, all eyes were on them, and the cheers were almost deafening. Despite it only being a small fraction of the number of people at a concert, it was as loud as a concert. Yet it only took Bang Chan raising his hand for the crowd of fans to fall silent.
“Hello everyone!” He said, waving to the room. He and the boys quickly introduced themselves and did their “Step out” intro as they always do. They took the first part of the fanmeet to goof around on stage, playing around with some of the items laid out for them by staff.
During this, y/n couldn’t keep her eyes off of them, feeling almost a pulling sensation in her chest, and a need to keep an eye on the boys. She ignored the pulling feeling, trying to enjoy the fansign and commit this all to memory. She soaked in the atmosphere, the joy that radiated around the room, from the fans and the idols. It filled her with happiness, the feeling almost bursting out of her chest.
It wasn’t long before they boys had moved onto the signing part of the fansign. She watched as each row of fans lined up to meet the idol group, going down the line one by one, and the smiles on the boys’ faces made her smile too. It made her happy to see them happy, and she knew the girls around her felt the same way. Her hand was tapped as a girl in the row ahead of her asked her to record her interactions with the boys, and she readily agreed. Once that girl was up on stage, she zoomed in and recorded her interaction with the eight idols. In return, once it was her turn to line up with her album to meet the boys, the other girl offered to record her going down the line and talking with the boys, to which she quickly thanked her for offering and y/n handed her her phone. She lined up on the side of the stage, nervousness growing as there were only a few girls still in between her and Changbin, the first of the eight boys she’d meet today.
Soon, she sat in the chair in front of the rapper, smiling at him as she said hello, shaking slightly due to her nerves.
“Hi, it’s nice to meet you!” She told him, smile as bright as the sun.
“Ahh, nice to meet you too!” He said, taking her album as she handed it to him, opening to one of his pages. “Where are you from?” He asked, noticing her nerves and the slight shake to her body, determined to get her less nervous.
“I’m from Canada. I flew here and arrived yesterday afternoon.” Y/n told him.
“Oh wow! Really? That’s so far away!” He was surprised she flew that far for their fansign, he even applauded her for it, to which she shied away, hiding her face.
“No, no hiding!” He teased her, and she slowly pulled her hands away, looking at him with red cheeks.
“Is it cold back in Canada?” Changbin asked.
“It’s not too bad, I guess? But I prefer it here where it’s warm and sunny.” She told him, replying to his question.
“Ohhh, you like warm.” He said, English skills finally breaking down a bit.
“I love the warmth. I’m always too cold, see?” She said to him, showing her hands which were slightly pink at the tips.
He grabbed her hands gently, rubbing them to try and warm them up. He knew it was chilly in there, but not to where one of their fans was becoming very cold. He was so concerned for her, almost abnormally so, but he chalked it up to just caring for their stays.
“Oh no, you’re so cold! It’s too cold here.” He said after rubbing her hands for a couple moments.
“Oh no, it’s okay, Changbin-oppa. My fingers and toes are always like this, no matter how warm it is. Just my body being bad, that’s all.” She corrected him gently, wanting to ensure he knew it wasn’t the room, it was just her.
And sadly, that is where her time with the rapper ended, with her being moved onto the next man, who was the Hwang Hyunjin, who was waiting for her to move down in front of him, which made her blush intensify.
“Hello Hyunjin!” She said, voice a little on the higher side.
“Hello, Stay!” He said, smiling at her. “What’s your name?” He asked as he received her album, moving to sign one of his pages that she had marked.
“My name is y/n! And we’re born in the same year, Hyunjin-ssi.” She informed him, slightly swaying in order to calm herself.
“Oh? We are? That’s amazing! What month?” He further questioned her, a slight surprise showing on his face.
“I’m a September baby, so I’m younger than you by a couple months.” She said, watching him sign her album.
He looked back up at her, his beauty was ethereal, and it took her breath away to see him this close up. He reached out to grab her hands, both of them pulling away slightly and flinching at the zap of electricity. It couldn’t have been more than static electricity, but it felt almost like a connection of sorts. Both of them waved it off, not thinking much of it, but inside, their beta and omega knew what had just happened, and were berating them for ignoring it.
“Your name is really pretty, I forgot to tell you.” He said earnestly, his eyes feeling like they were staring right into her soul, and she could see so many emotions floating around in those captivating eyes. She couldn't keep eye contact with him and looked away, down at her lap to avoid his gaze.
“Thank you, Hyunjin-ssi.” She said, still unable to look him in the eyes.
“Stay doesn’t have to use -ssi, call me Hyunjin, please?” He begged her, leaning down on the table to try and get her attention, to which she looked up at him, giggling at his position.
“What are you doing?” She said between giggles.
“I just wanted-” He started, but was interrupted by staff ushering her to move onto the next member, to Hyunjin’s dismay. He wanted to talk with her all day.
Seungmin was next, and his gentle smile caused her to continue to smile in return, her smile not dimming, but becoming softer.
“Hello, it’s nice to meet you.” He said, much calmer than the others, but you could see that he was just as excited to meet their fans as the other boys were.
“Hello Seungmin, it’s nice to meet you too.” She said, telling him her name afterwards, so that he had a name to sign the album with.
They made small talk as he signed, and then continued on afterwards. Y/n told him how far she travelled to be here today, and then expanded on her home as Seungmin asked her more questions about where she was from. She tells him that no matter how long the journey was, she wouldn’t have missed being here, and missing the chance to talk to them, for anything else in the world.
To this, his face is filled with awe and wonder, always surprised at what lengths their fans go to in order to see them live or to meet them. She then talks about what she loves about him, and how she enjoys seeing his interactions with the other boys, and how his voice is angelic. She just about showers him in compliments, until her time with the vocalracha member is up.
He waves goodbye to her and hands her album onto Jeongin, who’s next in line. He smiled at her as she slid over into the chair in front of the maknae, who, having heard her name from when she told his fellow member, quickly signed her album, before reaching out to grab her hands, squeezing them. This shocked y/n slightly, not expecting how intense the maknae was right then and there. He however, just felt drawn to her, like a moth to a flame, and wanted to be in contact with her. His alpha encouraged his actions, and the man himself didn’t question his alpha, and just continued looking at her with a smile on his face.
“Hi, Stay!” He said excitedly, to which y/n replied back, asking how he was doing.
“I’m doing better now that I get to talk to you.” He answered her, winking at the end and slightly flirting, to which he got lightly smacked by Minho.
Y/n wasn't faring well with the intense nature of the supposed “baby bread” youngest member, and it clearly showed on her face, which was turning, in Jeongin’s eyes, a lovely shade of pink, and her eyes were wide as she stared at him.
“You look so cute, Stay.” He complimented her, to which she blushed harder. His grin grew as he watched her blush intensify, and to which his alpha almost purred in contentment.
He continued teasing her, to which her responses were almost nonsensical, until the staff member became her savior by telling Jeongin that she had to move to the next member. Minho, being impatient, grabbed her hands from his fellow member and pulled her over to the chair in front of his space at the table, grabbing her album afterwards. Jeongin pouted at his hyung’s actions, watching you move over to the next chair. He only stopped overtly watching her when the next Stay sat down in front of him, his attention turning to them.
“Hello Lino!” Y/n said, a smile still stuck on her face.
“Hello Stay.” He said, shaking their hands as he had yet to let go. “Do you have any pets?” He asked, finally but almost reluctantly pulling his hands away so he could sign her album.
“I do! I have a bunny, named Jack.” She told him, telling him how she got him, and about all of her bunny’s little quirks.
He stopped signing her album just to look up at her and watch her talk. He was oddly drawn to her, and observed her as she talked. Her smile was extraordinary and how he wanted to never see her smile fade away, he felt pulled in by her, and he knew it wasn’t her scent, it couldn’t have been since he could see the scent blockers on her skin. But she almost called out to him, to his alpha. He internally questioned if there was something more to that feeling or if it was only just because she was similar to his omegas, to Jisung and Felix. Her outfit clearly took inspiration from them, and she seemed similar in personality, so maybe that was the culprit behind this pull he was feeling.
He realized that he hadn’t finished signing her album, and hurried to do so as he lightly chatted with her, mostly about their own pets and how troublesome they were at times. Sadly, that came to an end when she was pointed to move onto the next idol, who happened to be Felix.
The Australian man looked at her, having the silent realization that this was the girl he ran into the day prior, and did his best to push what happened out of his mind, since he hadn’t told anyone what had happened, and from the lack of reaction on her part, she didn’t know that they had met yesterday.
“Hello Felix!” She said, smiling from ear to ear at meeting her almost birthday twin.
“Hello! How are you? Also, your outfit is so cute! I love it!” He replied, a grin on his face.
“I’m well, and I’m very excited to be here!” She told him, her cheeks hurting as she had smiled since meeting Changbin. “Thank you! I tried to combine your and Han’s styles, and I hope I was able to do both your styles justice.” She explained.
“You did! So, how old are you?” He questioned, taking the time to sign her album.
“I’m your age, actually.” She confessed, as he looked up in slight shock.
“Wow, really?” He said.
“Yup! Actually you and I aren’t too far apart in age, birthday wise. I share a birthday with one of your members.” She replied.
“Wait, that means-” He started, before she interrupted him.
“Yeah, I do have a birthday twin within your group.” She giggled and nodded as she confirmed his thoughts.
“Oh wow! That’s so cool!” He told her.
“Yeah, it’s what made me a Stay actually. Well, and your Miroh era.” She confessed to him, blushing slightly.
They continued chatting, with Felix inquiring more about her life, and how long she’s been into K-pop among other things. Felix’s omega was practically purring at having this pretty girl’s attention only on him, plus that they got to see her again after Felix stupidly ran away yesterday.
Meanwhile, next to Felix, Minho was trying to concentrate on the Stay in front of him, but his mind and eyes kept wandering over to y/n and Felix. He couldn’t help but listen in on their conversation as he tried to keep chatting with the fan in front of him. That pull in his chest still hadn’t disappeared, and he kept questioning what exactly was drawing him to you. His alpha, however, knew exactly what was happening and was very happy about it, Minho could tell that much. His alpha kept talking about how Felix and the girl got along so well, and look how pretty they both were, and ‘Wouldn’t they look pretty together in their nest?’ Minho had to physically force himself to look away from the two of them, and push to only focus on the Stay in front of him.
During this, the two people who were the subject of Minho’s thoughts and glances were saddened when staff told them it was time for y/n to move on. Felix grabbed her hand, pleading with her not to go, to the girl’s laughter and her insistence that she must move on, to Han finally interjecting and reaching out for her hand and pulling her to the next chair.
“I heard you had a birthday twin in Stray Kids?” He inquired immediately, wanting to know.
“Hello Han. Yes I do.” She giggled at his impatience. “I’m birthday twins with you, actually. Down to the year.” She told him.
Hell yeah!” He exclaimed as Felix overheard, the Aussie pouting at how close he was to sharing a birthday.
Y/n saw Felix’s pout, and giggled as she looked over at him. He saw her giggling and playfully glared at her, only making her giggle more, which Han did as well when he saw what was making the girl in front of him giggle.
Han quickly signed his page in the album, before focusing all his attention on the girl in front of him. He wanted to know more about his birthday twin, and to learn if they had anything else in common. They did have quite a few things in common, their style being one of those things, anxiety was a second, and they also had quite similar personalities. This made the quokka a very happy man, and his omega wanted to steal the Stay away and keep them and Han was agreeable with that notion. A birthday twin to share the fun with? Yes please.
They joked about how maybe this was fate, and maybe this was why she was drawn to the group in the first place, with y/n admitting that their shared birthday is what made her interested in the first place. Han smiled, with a blush on his face at that confession. That she had found the group and gotten interested because of Felix, but was more interested that they both shared a birthday. Plus, she won the chance to be here and meet them, which was even more amazing.
As engrossed as they both were in their conversation, Chan finally leaned over and interrupted them, to inform her that it was their turn to chat. Han grabbed her hand, shaking them as he thanked her for coming and talking with him, and that she’d have to remember to wish him a happy birthday when their birthday came, to which she promised she would. She reluctantly let go of his hands, and moved over to sit in front of Chan, realizing that her time with the boys would end shortly.
“Hello there, sorry to interrupt your fun with Hannie.” He apologized, looking truly sorry to have stopped their conversation. He truly was sad that he had to do so, they loved their fans, and Jisung looked so happy as he chatted with her, and his alpha almost screamed his content at how happy this girl had made his members.
“It’s okay, I understand, don’t worry Chan.” She told him, understanding clearly heard in her voice.
He smiled at how understanding she was, starting up a conversation with her about what she was going to do while in Seoul. Inside, his alpha was trying to gain control over him, an overwhelming need coming over him to grab her and scent her, rules be damned. He wasn’t alone in this feeling, as y/n had been feeling a pull this entire time as she went down the line, but it was stronger right in front of the leader of the group, and her omega wanted nothing more than to sink into this man’s arms right here and now. She shook off her omega while he pushed away those feelings, one thinking it was just her being delusional and having read too much fanfic, while the other just chalked it up to his alpha reacting to the fact that it was a pretty girl in front of him right now.
They continued their chat like neither of them were experiencing anything, and she asked him about places to visit in Australia should she ever get to visit, and he turned it on her and asked about places to visit in Canada when they get the chance to travel there. Both parties enjoyed the conversation, almost feeling as if they were just two friends chatting, instead of idol and fan. They talked about animals as well, both of them gushing about their own animals and telling a couple of funny stories about them.
At last, y/n’s time with the boys was finally over, and it was at this point Chan realized he had never signed her album. Signaling to the staff to let him sign the album quickly before she had to leave, he did so. On a whim, and what he swears was his alpha’s idea, and not fully his, under his signature, he added his number. Quickly closing the book, he handed it to her, and waved to her as she left the stage and returned to her seat, focusing on the next fan to sit in front of him.
Y/n returned to her seat, feeling saddened after leaving the stage and the boys. She shrugged it off, just like she had with the rest of the odd feelings she’s had today and yesterday. After she got back to her seat, one of the girls in the row behind her that she had made friends with, asked her to film her meetings with the boys, and she agreed. After that, the girl in the row in front of her that filmed her interactions handed her phone back, and y/n thanked her for filming as the other girl waved off her thank yous.
Soon enough, it was the girl behind her turn to chat with the boys, and y/n started filming as she went up on stage. She noticed during her filming, that the boys glanced up in her direction a couple times, or at least her general direction, she doubted their gaze was on her specifically. She dutifully continued filming, trying to get the best video she could for the girl.
Y/n was wrong about the boys not looking right in the crowd for her. They really couldn’t help themselves, looking at her when she didn’t notice, and every time they had the chance. They had never felt so pulled towards someone like this, not since they all found each other. Y/n was feeling the same way, it almost felt like there was a rope between her and the boys, and it was trying to pull her in closer. She once again brushed it off as wishful thinking, and maybe her delusions of wanting the boys to notice her, as every Stay did. Plus, she probably just enjoyed talking to them so much that she wanted to talk with them again.
Finally, the girl she was filming for left the stage, and y/n ended the recording, handing the phone back to her once the other girl returned to her seat. She watched as the final rows got their chance to see and talk with the boys, and once everyone was back in their seats, the boys came out from behind the tables, and started goofing off again. There was a portion set aside for photos of the boys, and of course they were absolutely adorable during it. And then they decided a couple dance relays of S-Class were in order, and a part switch dance to S-Class as well, which went as well as anyone could expect. A.k.a, it was a bit of a disaster, with the boys not knowing each other's places nearly as well as they knew their own. Though, we did get to see Felix do Minho’s parts, which was amazing and everyone in the room loved it.
Before anyone knew it, the fansign was coming to an end, with the boys sadly saying goodbye to the fans. Y/n didn’t want it to end, but as they were ushered back out of the room after the boys had left the stage, she reluctantly left. She was in tears leaving the building, and felt a great sadness at leaving, and so did her omega. She wasn’t quite sure why she reacted so heavily, but as she walked back to the hotel, her emotions only grew. Because of this, she sped up her pace, wanting to disappear into her hotel room and cry in private, not wanting others to see her like this.
Once she was back in her hotel room, she locked the door, immediately taking off her shoes and any accessories, before crawling into her makeshift nest that still smelt of sadness from that morning. She let herself fall apart, crying as she curled into a ball. She wasn’t sure why she was so sad, she really wasn’t sure, but she could feel that her omega was really hurting. She cried herself to sleep, falling into a nightmare, where it was the opposite of her dream from the night before. The boys were the opposite of their sweet selves, and were hurling anything and everything negative about herself at her, and all she could do was sit there and cry as they did so.
Being shocked out of her nightmare, she sat up as she woke up, her chest heaving as she tried to regulate her breathing. She managed to do so after a couple of minutes, and trying to get her mind off of how hurtful her nightmare was, she reached for her phone.
She found the video of her interactions with the boys, and started watching it. As she watched it, she realized just how different her interactions with the boys were from the ones she had filmed for others and watched herself. They seemed much more intimate in a way, with how touchy a lot of the boys were with her. They were so much more emotive and interactive with her, it felt a little abnormal after the fact. She must have been so happy to meet them that none of it felt off to her, and really looking back, it still didn’t feel too odd, just a bit more intimate than the other fans’ interactions. She wondered why she was so different, and why her, over everyone else.
This pushed her to look through her album, and she stopped at Chan’s signature. Underneath his name, there was a number, along with a short message to text him. This had to be a joke, there was no way she was living the y/n life right now. She felt as if she had stepped into a fanfiction, because why else would Bang fucking Chan have given her, out of all people, his number?
She decided to fuck it and texted the number he gave her, and he almost immediately responds.
‘Who are you?’ He demanded.
‘I’m y/n, you gave me this number in my album that you signed today.’ She replied.
‘What did we talk about today then?’ He asked her.
‘A little bit of everything, honestly, but we did talk about our pets. You talked about Berry, and I talked about my bunny Jack and how troublesome he is.’ Y/n told him.
She also decided to send him a picture of herself, holding open his page of the album as she sat next to a clock to prove the time. Chan believed her, and told her as such. She then asks him why he decided to give her his number.
‘I watched your actions with the others and myself, and something about you and all of our interactions intrigued me. I felt there was something more to it all, and wanted to get to know you better.’ He explained, to which she was relieved it wasn’t a trick, but was also confused about how she intrigued him. She voiced those thoughts and to which he reassured her that he wasn’t tricking her, nor should she be confused about how she was interesting to him, because he honestly found her interesting from the start of their conversation at the fanmeet.
He further explained that the other members had no idea about what he had done, and he hadn’t planned on saying anything to them, unless y/n had reached out and told him it was okay to do so. Though that didn’t stop them from discussing her in the vans on the way back to the dorm, nor did it stop their discussion from spilling over into their group chat. He told her as much, and she was surprised to have made that much of an impression on them. Chan reassured her that their interactions with her were very memorable, from what he could gleam from the others’ conversations. What he didn’t tell her was that Minho had noticed Chan’s behavior, and signaled to the pack alpha that they would be talking after they arrived back at the dorm.
Soon enough the boys arrived back at the dorm, and the leader had to say goodbye for now to y/n, Minho staring him down as they walked into the building and then the elevator. The other alpha grabbed his hand as soon as the elevator doors opened, and led him through the front door of the apartment, and straight to the Aussie man’s room.
“Who are you texting? And why am I sure it’s that girl from the fansign?” Minho interrogated him, not leaving him a second to talk.
“You’re not wrong. I gave her my number.” Chan confessed.

trans!Ivan Braginsky
so this was supposed to be ivan as a real bougie bitch but like, it turned into something kinda angsty so a tw: transphobia is being thrown in right here. I tried to shy away from going into detail but as a nonbinary person who doesn't feel safe coming out it was kind of cathartic for me to write this. so, enjoy, and bring me the dilfs
All his life, Ivan had been told leaving Russia wouldn’t be worth it.
“Anya, what do they have there that we don’t? Your whole life is here, your family is here, there is nothing for you in the West.”
Only so much could be expected from living in such a closed-minded area, he supposed. People like him weren’t well received, which is why he refused to come out to anyone other than his sisters. Natalya didn’t really seem to care, never really continuing conversations about it but her reactions were never negative. Irunya was much more receptive, helping him out by keeping things like binders and more masculine clothing for him in her bedroom. She knew their parents were much less likely to go through her bedroom, being that she was nineteen. Their mother hardly ever went into her bedroom without permission, and their father wasn’t home often enough to even have the chance to. Irunya had a much longer leash than her two younger siblings, considering that Ivan was seventeen, and Natalya was fourteen. She was more than happy to help her brother, between her and their mother she had always been the more maternal one to him anyways. Their family life was very… Traditional. Natalya got the most attention and affection being the youngest child, and Ivan got the least. He’d always wanted a better relationship with his parents, his mother especially, but as he grew older, and discovered himself more, he became less feminine. His mother pushed him away, they needed to keep up an ‘image’ to those around them, his parents had always had a complex around being better than those around them. So when Ivan didn’t fit this mold anymore, he was pushed out of the picture as much as possible, and she showed how little he mattered to his parents. By both physical and psychological means. Because of this, he decided to just stay hidden away in his room, planning his move to America. He was only a few months from his eighteenth birthday, all he needed to do was make it through the holidays, to his birthday, then he would be gone. He had an apartment lined up in New York, a plane ticket stashed away, and enough money in his account to get him through a few months. Everything was ready to go, just two more months until he was ready to leave.
And then he had the rug pulled out from under him.
Ivan had gone out to see a movie with his sisters and a couple of friends, and in his excitement and rushing around to get ready he hadn’t realized he left a binder out on his bed. His mother decided that, since Natalya and Ivan were coming up on finals week soon, she would get some of their laundry done for them. Just something little to ease their workload, and allow them more time to study after they got home from their afternoon out. She stumbled onto the binder when she entered Ivan’s bedroom, setting her basket of dirty clothing down so she could look at it. At first, she thought it was a sports bra, but the closer she looked the more she realized she didn’t really know what it was. As a seamstress, though, she was quite interested in finding out whatever she could about it. She found the tag on the inside, sitting down at Ivan’s computer desk to look up the brand listed on it. Once she reached the webpage, she was horrified. It was very obviously a site designed by other folks in the trans community, but despite this, it didn’t really click for her what the binder meant, or who it belonged to. Her ‘girls’ all shared clothing, so regardless of whose room things were found in she wouldn’t know whose they were. As she was looking through this website, however, a message popped up in the bottom corner of Ivan’s monitor. She clicked on it, and in doing so it opened an app where all his friends had been talking to him, to her it just looked like a giant group chat that included him and his sisters. Well, she assumed all three of them were in it. Who was Irunya referring to Ivan, as her brother? She didn’t have a brother, and only a few moments later did she realize what that meant. Anya was claiming to be Ivan, claiming to be a boy? This was all so much for her to handle, and to say she didn’t take it well was an understatement. By the time Ivan and his sisters came home from their afternoon out, Ivan’s things were all laying out in the driveway outside, his computer laying broken on the pavement. He could hardly remember what happened after realizing what was going on; that his mother knew and that he was being kicked out. Everything happened in a blur, their friends helping to get his things packed into Irunya’s car while she attempted to calm Ivan down as he had melted into tears, begging for his mother to listen. He would try to explain, to cover himself. It wasn’t time yet, his apartment wasn’t ready and wouldn’t be ready for another two months. He just needed a little more time. He wouldn’t get more time, though. Natalya ended up hurting him the worst that day. She didn’t say a single word to her brother, simply gave him a disapproving look before turning her mother towards the house, comforting her instead. This left their little group to pack Irunya’s car, though it didn’t take long as Ivan really only had enough things to fill her trunk and some of her backseat. He had enough clothes to get him by, his slightly broken computer, a box of photos, and a small bin of miscellaneous other things. It wasn’t like he needed to go without, being the least favorite meant that he often went without. Apparently, that didn’t matter anymore, he could only hope he’d end up in a position where he could provide for himself instead. The siblings sat in silence for a while before Ivan decided he would just get his ticket exchanged, he’d fly to the US now and just stay in a motel or something until his unit would be ready, or maybe if he talked to his landlord they could get him set up in a different one. He’d just have to figure something out, he wasn’t left with much of a choice now.
The rest of the day was a fuzzy memory by now. Irunya helped him get everything packed away into boxes, and checked in at the airport before the two shared a teary goodbye. Ivan was scared, but at the same time excitement was building at the back of his mind. He’d wanted this for so long, and while this wasn’t the way he wanted it to happen he was smarter than to look a gift horse in the mouth. He was going to be free, free to be himself and be happy, and he’d finally be safe in doing so. This would be good for him. Scary, for a while, but good for him.
He’d been in America for almost six months now. His first two months had been spent in a motel, but once he’d shared his situation the owner cut him a deal so he wasn’t paying quite as much for the entire two months. Getting into his apartment was easy, time-consuming but easy. He thrifted as much furniture as he could, only having to buy a handful of things used. He was proud of the little collection he’d built, his apartment was still pretty bare but he had time to work on it. Luckily he wasn’t completely alone, a friend of his from online lived a few floors above him and had helped him move in, even though he probably could’ve done it all by himself it was nice to have the company. He’d also mentioned a website that he used, something about older people paying him for different things. Pictures, chats, phone calls, or dates even if he felt comfortable enough. That sounded… nice, in all honesty. He wasn’t having any luck finding work, considering he didn’t have citizenship yet which definitely made it a lot harder to find safe work. So the two of them took some nice pictures of him, with his new, shorter haircut, sitting on his bed in a pair grey boxers, a matching binder, with the trans flag draped across his shoulders. He’s made a profile with the nice photos they’d just taken, as well as a few selfies he’d taken around New York as he’d ventured around in his short time in the city. He filled out his bio, some simple information about him like his physical attributes, his interests, and his backstory. Waiting to see if anyone responded to his profile was rather exciting, and to calm his mind he decided to start playing a game with some friends, though he still checked his inbox on his phone every ten minutes or so. A bit too hopeful? Maybe. But even just seeing some of the profiles? These guys were attractive, which definitely didn’t help him keep his excitement down.

Psychological Safety
The bad news? I think I may have accidentally given my son ptsd.
The good news? He feels so psychologically safe he didn't understand why some people think being openly and honestly yourself is in any way a vulnerable thing to do.
Let me back up. My son is a senior. He's taking an acting class and the group was discussing vulnerability as an acting tool. My son was not the first to object but he agreed with others who said- being vulnerable wasn't necessary. He thinks of vulnerability as - putting yourself in an unnecessarily unsafe situation. He plays HEMA (Historic European Martial Arts) - which means he fences with a double handed steel sword. Being vulnerable means to him to turn his back on someone actively attacking him. There is zero reason to do this on purpose. He said other kids were talking about how being honest about your feelings is vulnerable. He said no - it's just being honest. It doesn't require vulnerability. I pointed out the idea of psychological safety and did he know that some people are in situations where it is not safe to be honest about your emotions or - really anything. His face when I said this. He was horrified and sad for people in this situation. He can see how it could be vulnerable with the wrong people but he's never experienced that himself.
Which made me feel great. It means as a parent my son feels psychologically safe all the time.
So .... why did I start this by saying I think I gave my son PTSD. Well - it's because when he was first starting school he started having seizures and we didn't know he was having seizures because it was childhood absence epilepsy and he just looked like he was thinking about stuff. And to be fair, my son is super duper creative and was constantly day dreaming and coming up with stories for himself. So what would happen is, he would start practicing writing - like - write the letter M. He would start the letter and then not finish it. He would stare at the ceiling. And we would try to get him to come back to earth and continue tracing the letter M. Well - when your child is not responsive, you start to get worried and yell their name. What we were experiencing was an unresponsive child. What he experienced was - I start writing the letter M and get only the first line drawn and suddenly my parents are yelling at me. I can't even start and I'm doing it wrong.
Long story short, he has a REALLY hard time starting anything because he thinks we will yell at him and he will do it wrong. And this can be super intense for him. Like - huge aversion behavior, emotional aversion - you name it.
I have diagnosed PTSD and I can tell you when I am triggered, I have no idea what is going on - I just can't do things. Like - want to buy a plane ticket? Nope - I will set it up and not be able to push the button to buy the tickets. I don't know why. I just know I'm in a freeze fight/flight panic in terms of adrenaline anxiety etc. It doesn't matter that I want to buy the ticket, my body physically won't let me and won't tell me why. It's not conscious. It's literally just stimulus response - the response being to freeze while experiencing huge amounts of anxiety and sweating.
This is kind of what happens to my son. He wants to do the work, but can't start and then starts rationalizing why he can't start. He's gotten better, but it's an ongoing problem - and yes, we are addressing it - I'm an expert in behavior modification. We are working on reconditioning a new response to the - I want to do things stimulus so that he isn't always triggered to - just freeze out of fear.
The good news - he clearly feels psychologically safe despite the trauma I accidentally wired into his brain over a 4 month period when we were trying to figure out what was going on with him and waiting for his first neurology appointment. (sigh). But as my son says philosophically - everyone has trauma at some point - he's way more functional than most people - because - we at least made him feel safe.

Okay but lately I’ve been in love with the concept of like, long distance pining with Levi?
You meet in France when you’re abroad for a summer, and he’s grumpy and tattooed and never smiles. You run into him frequently enough at the café in the small town you’re temporarily staying, where he’s lived his whole life. By no means is he here to be part of the welcoming committee—that’s just not his style—but his home is special to him, and he wants you to leave with a lasting impression, so he takes you on a “grand” tour.
Farmers markets, the countryside, wine tasting, hikes, hidden gems—he drives you around everywhere in his beat up car and soon figures out you’re one of the only people he can withstand being around for long periods of time.
He hates the heat, but he loves the long flowy sundresses you wear; he loves how pretty your fingers look holding a wine glass; he hates being sporadic but he loves how you visibly become more excited when there’s an adventure involved.
He falls first—and hard. It’s difficult for him to stomach. It’s difficult to exist when you’re constantly simultaneously alive in his head and right in front of him. He could never fathom the idea of you reciprocating his feelings, so he doesn’t say anything. He just treasures your fleeting time together, everything about you burned into his brain, committed to memory. And he knows deep down he could never forget a single thing.
The day you finally leave is bittersweet. Everything is so heavy. You’re sad; he’s quiet. He drives you to the airport and you bring him in for a hug. It’s the first time he’s felt you this close, and the last time for a while—maybe forever. He tells you, “See you later,” the mask of indifference wobbling before you’re heading to your gate.
There’s no looking back. No more hugs. There’s no kiss. Just a knot in his throat and an empty feeling in your absence. You’ve become more a part of him in this past month than anyone else has in his whole life.
And then comes the next torturous months. Endless text messages and random calls, sometimes FaceTime or Skype or audio recordings you send when you’re ranting too much to type. You’re an ocean away, and the time difference is jarring, but Levi’s an insomniac, so when you’re drunk texting him at two in the morning, he’s obliged to put you to bed with a phone call.
When you post on your Instagram, he’s lurking in the comments, trying to see who’s roaming there. If he’s brave enough, he types out a ‘pretty’ or ‘i remember this shirt’ and holds his phone to his chest as he waits for his heart to stop pounding.
It’s late one particular night when you call, and he’s just getting out of bed.
“Everything okay?” he asks.
You sigh, “Yeah.”
“Yeah?”
“Just wanted to hear your voice,” you admit. You can’t take it anymore—the distance. Thinking about him physically hurts you. The tears start spilling out. “That was the best summer of my life.”
He can’t tell you’re crying, but you hear a soft breath on the end of the line that sounds exactly like that shy laugh you miss. It lessens your pain by a fraction. “You must’ve had some shitty summers then.”
When you sniffle, he knows you’re upset.
“Did something happened?” He wishes he could reach through the phone and just grab you and wipe the tears away.
“No. No, I just… I just want to be near you again.”
“I want to be near you, too.”
You nod, though he can’t see. “Will you send me some pictures?”
“Sure. Whatever you want.”
In a small voice, you add, “Will you send some sweatshirts to me, too?”
His mouth twitches. “I’ll see what I can do.”
He can’t take much more after that tiny admission. It’s enough for him to finally break and buy that plane ticket. He flies across the sea, shows up at your front door with a duffle bag slung over his shoulder.
The very moment you lay eyes on him, you just take him in. His hair has grown out wavier, he has some new ear piercings, he’s gained some color on his cheeks. You don’t throw yourself at him or smother him either, you just sort of fall into him. Carefully wind your arms around his neck and press your nose where his scent is the strongest. All of those days come back to you when the smell of soap and musk hits you.
When his arms close around you, you finally let yourself cling to him.
You have no words. You’re so happy you can’t stand yourself, and so relieved you start to cry. He doesn’t really know what to say either so he just slides his palm down the back of your head and guides your mouth onto his. He kisses you, slow and sweet, fighting back tears of his own because being close to you again feels so right, in every sense.
“I should’ve done that months ago,” he rasps as he pulls away.
You shake your head. “It’s okay now. Just come here,” you demand, opening your mouth wider for him.

A call from JJ when the team was not on a case was never a good thing. Y/n had only gotten two in the four years she and Spencer had been together, and they both ended up with him in a hospital bed.
With a dreadful feeling in the pit of her stomach and the laundry long abandoned in the machine, Y/n pressed the little green button and hoped for the best. "Hey, is he okay?" She quickly asked, voice slightly higher pitched than usual.
In the second it took for JJ to reply, her heart thumped in her chest rapidly, and her mind raced through the possibilities. "Yes." A one-syllable word had never filled her with as much assurance as JJ's answer did. "At least physically."
Mentally, Y/n was always ready for anything with Spencer. It came with the nature of his job and the emotional toles of his past and present. "What's up?" She asked, still just as worried about him.
"This case," JJ explained, not willing to go into the gruesome details. The fewer people that had to know about that, the better. "It's rough, with kids... little kids, like Maisie's age."
Y/n's stomach twisted at that, thinking about the little girl in the other room, sleeping soundly. She was safe, their precious baby, but someone else's sweet little kid was out there, hurt, and Spencer had the horrible job of having to know every detail. It was a type of deep despair she couldn't even fathom. Her heart broke for the babies and parents but also the team. And for Spencer, who hadn't worked a child abduction/murder case since their daughter was born.
She could imagine where his head was at. "He's upset, isn't he? Trying to hide it by being sassy and saying things he doesn't mean?" She very successfully guessed. He tried to do it all the time, but the acting was transparent to her.
"He snapped at Morgan, told him that he didn't understand." JJ filled her in, concerned for her best friend. She knew the one person who could fully help him was his girlfriend. "Hotch is close to taking him off the case."
"Because he can't be helping solve the case when his brain is somewhere else." Y/n filled in the blanks for her, able to see him so clearly even though she wasn't there with him. "How can I help?" She asked.
There was a sigh from the other side of the line. "Is there any chance you can come here?" JJ asked hesitantly.
Y/n didn't hesitate, further abandoning the dirty clothes as she walked into their bedroom, already getting out a suitcase to pack some clothes without any order. "Where is here?" She asked, throwing in some swimwear and casual clothes for Spencer.
"Atlanta. I'll get you a ticket, and Morgan can meet you there." JJ told her. She'd seen Spencer in more than his fair share of pain, but Y/n had always been so good about helping him.
"I can be at the airport in two hours, and thank you for calling." She said, making her way to the bathroom to get toiletries. A plan of how she could further support him was formulating in her head, and it required a few days of luggage.
Although Y/n couldn't see it, JJ was smiling for the first time in days. "Thank you." She replied, putting weight behind the words. There was some chatter in the background before JJ hung up.
The next thing to pack was Maisie's things, lots of outfits, diapers, a couple of toys, her stroller and clip-in car seat, her bathroom supplies. All in record time. She'd traveled with the little girl before, that time with Spencer, on a trip to Vegas to introduce Maisie to her grandma.
Maisie had just woken up when Y/n finished packing, crying for her mom for a moment. Once she had been fed and changed, they were on the way to the airport.
An hour later, they were on the plane. Y/n was a little concerned about flying with a baby alone, even though Maisie had always been relatively easy. Everything she could possibly need was in her carry-on bag, snacks, spare clothing, diapers, and toys.
Take-off wasn't as bad as the worst-case scenario she envisioned. Maisie cried a little, but her pacifier kept her quiet. Once the plane had leveled out, she reached out for her elephant stuffed animal. Y/n handed it to her, and she threw it onto the spare seat next to them, prompting the other passenger in their row to hand it back to her.
"Aren't you sweet?" The older woman cooed, enamored by Maisie bouncing up and down on her mom's knees while Y/n held her hand. Maisie took the toy back, gurgling something incoherent. "What's her name?" She asked, turning to Y/n.
"Maisie, she's nearly 11 months old." She answered before introducing herself. "I'm Y/n."
"You're very clever, aren't you?" Their seat neighbor cooed to the little girl before introducing herself. "Anne. Are you going home or leaving home?"
"Leaving," Y/n replied. "Someone's dad had a tough few days at work, so we're going to cheer him up."
Maisie turned back to look at her mom, recognizing what she'd said. "Dadda!" She cheered, reaching for Y/n's cellphone. The lockscreen with a picture of their family was where she thought Spencer went whenever he left.
"Yeah, that's who we're going to see," Y/n told her, dramatically enunciating her words and depicting her facial expressions.
"I'm sure seeing your sweet face will make him feel better." The woman cooed to Maisie, who was giggling like she understood while she continued to bend and straighten her knees.
Y/n smiled, trying to picture Spencer's face when they surprised him. She knew it would help, seeing his daughter was safe. "What about you?" She asked.
"Going home to see my grandchildren. The youngest is about to start elementary." She chatted, picking up Maisie's toy when she threw it again. "It goes by so quickly." Even though she knew it was true, Y/n didn't want to think about how quickly her baby was already growing up. They continued to talk for the rest of the flight, occasionally interrupted by Maisie's exclamations.
Landing was slightly more tricky, with Maisie fussy about sitting down. She had taken her first steps a couple of weeks ago, but Y/n decided that if Spencer was there, it didn't count. Since then, all she wanted to do was stand up.
As promised by JJ, Morgan was waiting at the airport, giving her and his goddaughter a hug. "What's with all the stuff, mama?" He asked, taking the stroller and car seat from her hands so he could carry them.
Y/n laughed, patting him on the arm. "Derek Morgan, you're in for a big surprise one day." She told him, shaking her head playfully while she adjusted the baby. "These things come with a lot of baggage."
"Aww, do you hear what Mommy says about your pretty little face?" Morgan asked Maisie, placing a kiss on the top of her head before they started walking to the SUV.
"I'd take that as a compliment, but everyone knows this baby does not look like me." Y/n joked, looking at the mirror reflection of Spencer. The photos she'd seen of baby Spencer proved just how similar they looked.
Morgan looked at the two of them to evaluate the similarities. "Kind of. Maybe more when she grows up." He offered, although Y/n wasn't concerned about Maisie being the spitting image of her father.
"How is he?" She asked while Morgan took her suitcase to put in the back of the SUV, and she strapped the car seat in.
Sighing, Morgan waited until they were both sitting in the front seat to answer her question. "He's... okay. He's going to be happy you're here."
Y/n smiled a little, counting down the seconds until she could surprise him. "About that." She mentioned, slyly grinning. "Can I borrow this car?"
Morgan took his eyes off the road for a second to frown at her. "I guess." He agreed, waiting for her to reveal why she needed the car, but she didn't.
The drive to the police precinct was only a few miles, and she gathered a few of the case details, along with learning that the unsub had been caught and all that was left to do was paperwork.
JJ and Prentiss were walking out of the office when Morgan brought Y/n in. "Hi!" They greeted her, quickly hugging her and Maisie.
"Jay!" Maisie squealed, identifying her godmother and reaching out to grasp her hair. She had never been able to repeat the one-syllable word, but it didn't stop everyone from finding her adorable.
"Hi, sweetie, are you here to see your daddy?" JJ asked the little girl.
When she recognized the mention of Spencer, she turned her gaze to look at Y/n. "Daddy?" She asked with big brown eyes.
"Yeah, you're sick of Mommy, aren't you?" She joked, earning a nod from the little girl and then laughter from all of Spencer's friends.
"He's through that door," Emily told her, nodding to the glass door with drawn blinds.
With one last hug for all of them, Y/n took Maisie into the boardroom. She didn't bother to knock, just opening the door. Why she was nervous, she didn't know, but it all faded away once she saw a slouching Spencer.
Spencer's eyes were still focused on his paperwork, with the tip of a pen between his lips as he thought. The first thing she noticed was his messy hair, then his unshaven face, and finally, his sunken eyes. All she wanted to do was make it better.
When she realized he was far too in his own world to notice, Y/n spoke. "Hi."
Simultaneously, Spencer looked up at her and got out of his seat, quickly wrapping his arms around both of them. "What are you doing here?" He asked into her ear, his voice cracking like he had just started crying. Just seeing them made his heart feel full, giving his brain a break from the endless loop of horror scenes from the last week.
Y/n pulled back after she'd held him for a few seconds with a grin, wiping a tear off his cheek. "Came to see the coca-cola museum." She joked, earning a dry chuckle from Spencer while he wiped up his tears.
"Sad?" Maisie asked, reaching out to touch his cheek.
Spencer took her out of Y/n's arms and placed kisses all over her face. The feeling of the stubble made her squeal happily. "No, little love, I'm really, really happy." She figured the smile he had on was something no one had seen in a really long time.
"We were told it was a tough case, so we came to see you." She answered his question correctly.
"Thank you," Spencer whispered, directing his gaze back at her. "We're about to get back on the jet, though, so you flew a long way for nothing." He told her a little guiltily.
Y/n grinned at him, letting him know she had a plan. "They are going back, but we aren't."
Drawing his eyebrows together, he tried to figure out what she meant. "What?"
"We're driving back, taking a few days." She revealed the secret plan she'd been working on.
For a moment, he looked like he was about to argue, but then he looked down at Maisie. Y/n could tell what he was thinking about how he couldn't function properly if he didn't take some time for himself. "What do you think?" He asked, bouncing her up and down and making her giggle.
"Ya!" She cheered, nuzzling into his side.
"Looks like that's a yes then." He decided, looking back up at Y/n, who was softly smiling. Even if he didn't always think he was a good father, no one was more cut out for parenting than Spencer. And there was no one else she'd want to raise a baby with.
Affirmatively, she nodded. "Better go pack your stuff then." She reminded him, looking at the paperwork left on the table. It was tidy, and the rest of the team had left for the hotel, so he couldn't have had much else to do.
Spencer quickly, unorderly shoved it into his satchel while he held Maisie. He was so pretty when he was just doing ordinary things. "Okay, that's all of it." He said, swinging the bag on the other shoulder to balance himself.
"No, it's not," Y/n informed him, causing Spencer to turn around and try and figure out what he missed. To help him out, she motioned to her lips.
"Sorry," Spencer mumbled, quickly leaning forward to place a long kiss on her lips. She kissed him once more before pulling away. "Didn't mean to leave my girl neglected."
Y/n shook her head, holding his hand so they could leave. "Never feel neglected with you." She assured him.
Once Spencer packed up his things- which didn't take long since he hadn't changed- and checked out of the hotel, they were back in the SUV with Y/n driving out of the city.
"Can we stop?" He requested only a few miles into their journey. "I need coffee."
Suspiciously, Y/n eyed him. "It's past midday, and you're not working, so no coffee." She determined, able to see that he needed sleep. "I'd bet you haven't eaten in a while, so we can stop for food, and you can have water."
For years, Spencer had never had anyone who cared like she did, so he didn't even pretend to be annoyed about her loving nature. Instead, he turned back to look at Maisie in her car seat, playing with a rattle. "Mais, what is mommy?" He asked, sneaking a smirk at Y/n to let her know he had programmed an answer into her.
"Boss." She answered with hesitating.
Y/n hit him on the chest, not stopping his giggling at the situation. She couldn't help but laugh either, her lips coming to rest in a smile.
After some burgers and water, they were back on the road. Maisie fell asleep quickly, and eventually, so did Spencer, which affirmed Y/n's decision to not let him have more coffee. Any chance she got, she watched him, peaceful with his big brain turned off while he restored his energy.
Both of them slept until Y/n parked the car. "Mm, where are we?" Spencer asked, blinking while he tried to familiarize himself with the new surroundings. They were on a steep incline, Spencer realized, a driveway.
"The Great Smoky Mountains," Y/n announced, already getting out to unbuckle their crying baby.
"Why?" Spencer asked, turning back to look at her. "It's not really on the way home."
Y/n motioned to the surroundings. The green trees, log cabin, and deep valleys made it breathtaking. Even more so as the sun gave the last hour of warmth and painted it gold. "It's beautiful and secluded, so you can just relax." She informed him.
Spencer wasn't into arguing with her, especially when she'd done something so thoughtful. "Here." He got out of the car to get the stroller, unfolding it so Y/n could put the car seat in it. His work satchel was long forgotten, and he got the rest of the bags while Y/n unlocked the Airbnb with Maisie in the stroller.
It was the perfect place to spend the night. The cabin was small, with only one bedroom and a lounge with a kitchenette. The floors and walls were wooden and the furniture modern. The big window in the lounge gave an incredible view of a valley.
"Wow." Spencer verbalized her amazement when he stepped in after her, his go-bag, her suitcase, and the diaper bag in hand. She took the little lunchbox out of the bag and handed Maisie a container of crackers.
Outside, on the balcony, the view was even better. A panoramic view of the endless sky and mountain range in the distance. Even the air smelt fresher.
Spencer took their stuff to the bedroom, putting their toiletries in the bathroom while Y/n gave Maisie some water. He quickly changed into something more casual, hanging his suit jacket over the back of the chair.
When he came out, Y/n was looking over the local restaurant pamphlets. She held one up for his approval. "Indian?"
He didn't even bother reading the menu. "Yes." He agreed. "Can we walk, though?" He requested, knowing he needed the fresh air and a long walk.
She nodded, thankful he was getting into the idea of self-care. Once they'd come back with the take-out, they ate on the balcony and ate while Y/n listened to his talking.
Once again, Maisie and Spencer were almost asleep by the time the sky had darkened. "C'mon, we're going to bed." Y/n decided, cleaning up the dishes.
He changed Maisie, laying her down before resting next to her and almost instantly falling asleep. Quietly, she got herself ready for bed before slipping under the covers next to Spencer.
He turned over to face her, so close their noses were touching, and their eyes were fixed on each other. "I love you," Spencer confessed, saying it with more emphasis than he usually did. "So much. You're the absolute best person I know, and I'm so grateful for you."
She reached out to touch his cheek, just making sure he was real. "I love you, too." She whispered. "We should do this more."
In agreement, Spencer lazily attached their lips before pulling her into a tight hug and promptly falling asleep. It was, without a doubt, the most comfortable he'd felt since he left DC. With his arms around her body, it didn't take Y/n long to fall asleep.
When she woke up, bright sunshine was spilling into the bedroom. It was the type of peace that usually lasted a split second before she remembered all the tasks she had to do that day. But neither Spencer nor Maisie were in bed with her. Sitting up, she could see them playing. Spencer sitting on the floor while Maisie, a few feet away, stood up and held onto his go-bag.
"Come here." He cooed, reaching out his arms in an attempt to get her to walk. Y/n watched them from the bed, earning Spencer's attention when he felt her eyes on him. "Good morning." He said, leaning up slightly so he could kiss her.
"Yeah, it is." She commented, running her fingers through his curls and admiring his bare upper body.
He picked up the rattle next to him and shook it just out of Maisie's reach. "She's just about there. I can feel it." He informed Y/n, who bit back a knowing smile. "You can do it, Mais." He cheered at the baby currently suspiciously eyeing him.
Deciding to put her father out of his misery, Maisie let go of his bag and took a few shaky steps in his direction. Spencer pridefully grinned as he reached forward to pick her up, showering her face in kisses before holding her up so Y/n could do the same thing.
She never had the heart to tell him the truth about their first child's steps, nor would she ever. Plus, the perfect story with the cabin in the woods was much better.
Back to feeling like him again, Spencer held the little girl tight to his chest and looked up at Y/n. "So, where's our next stop?"
Tell me what you think

Embry Call x Reader
5058 words
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Most of my life has been spent in the Forks area so getting to travel to Europe for six months to see the art and culture was a dream come true. The past four months I’ve been travelling through Europe, starting in Greece and ending my trip in the Irish countryside.
The old art and architecture filled me with a joy that I could not get anywhere else in the world. The smells, sounds and sights all played their own part into the experience. I got to see the moon rise over Mount Olympus, the David by Michelangelo in the Vatican, tour through the Louvre, drink wine on the beaches of France and so much more. I’ve been living my best life.
It's been a dream to see the world, I've met so many new people and tried so much food. I’ve enjoyed every minute of my trip, but there was a part of me that longed for the beaches of La Push.
That part is Embry. Embry Call. My boyfriend, my pal, my love and my light. To me Embry is my everything and to him I’m his everything. That is one thing that has been made perfectly clear the past four months I’ve been away. Every day he’s told me he misses me and I know he means it, I’ve been told not just by him but also the rest of the pack.
Everyday I’ve woken up to ‘Good morning I miss you.” Sometimes he phones to tell me that he feels like he might die if I’m away for any longer. I always chuckle and tell him he will survive, it’s not like I’m going away forever; but that's what he feels like it is. This usually earns me a long winded whine from the other end of the line.
My phone buzzed against the smooth surface of the bedside table while Embry’s face flashed across my screen signalling that he’s calling. A smile graces my lips as I pick up the phone to be greeted with his loving voice.
“Hi (y/n)!! I miss you so much.” sadness was laced in his usual cheery greeting, it hurt my heart to be away from him but I would never trade this experience for anything. I’ve been planning this for years and I wasn’t going to pass up cheap plane tickets.
He filled me in on the pack's shenanigans, complaining about how they keep teasing him for being glued to his phone awaiting any updates I would send him. The later it got the heavier my eyelids seemed to feel, my speech started to slur with exhaustion of time zones while Embry continued to become more energetic with each passing minute.
“Em. . .” A yawn interrupted me mid sentence, a low whine emanated from the phone as he knew I would want to get to bed to have the energy for the long trip I’ll embark on tomorrow for Ireland, which is my last stop. I’d be spending the remaining two months of my trip in the lush countryside.
“I think I should get to sleep, I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow.” I mumbled into the phone.
“But (y/n)!” he dragged out. I knew he wanted to talk longer but I physically cannot do it. Even though Embry and I don’t live together officially yet, we’d talk into the early morning till one of us fell asleep.
“But (y/n) what?” I dragged out the ‘a’ matching his whine.
“I miss you and want you to come home.” I could hear him pause over line before he continued.
“Besides, sleeping isn’t the same without you.”
I ran my hand through my hair gently tugging on the roots easing the tension that’s built up over my trip. As much fun as I’ve had, he does have a point. Sleeping just isn’t the same without Em. My nights have been spent restless in beds that aren’t mine without the comforting touch of my boyfriend; but that doesn’t mean I can just drop everything and go back home.
“Em you know I can’t just pack everything and go home. . .” I looked at the painting that hung over the tv that sat opposite of my bed. A puppy-like whimper fell from his lips when he spoke again, his voice cracked like he was going to cry. It broke my heart hearing him upset.
“I-I know I just really miss you.”
“I know Embry I miss you too, but it’s only two more months then I’ll be home.”
We chatted for ten more minutes before I fell asleep on the phone. As much as I missed falling asleep in his warm embrace I can’t just fly back home, not yet at least.
The blaring of my alarm woke me from my slumber. The clock face read 6:02 a.m. taking everything within myself to peel back the blankets that encased me in their warm grip. I patted through the bed sheets to find my phone only to knock it onto the floor in the process.
My lock screen adorned a photo of Embry with icing smudged across his face from his birthday party but a swamp of text messages from the pack covered my favourite photo of him. Five texts from Leah, seven from Jake, nine texts from Paul, 12 texts and two missed calls from Sam and a whole group chat titled ‘(y/n) come home.’
The group chat kept pinging with the members of the pack who were still awake discussing the logistics of flying out to Ireland to take me back home. Was Embry really causing that much strife in the pack for them to create a group chat? Knowing him, it couldn’t be too far from the truth.
Leah and I call once a week to check in and make sure the other is doing okay since I left. It’s one of my favourite parts of the week being able to have a one on one with someone sensible. Every week she fills me in on Embry begrudgingly, she does it because she knows it makes me happy which I appreciate.
Reading through her texts she didn’t say much in regards to Em’s behaviour the only message relating to him was “come get your man child please, he’s getting snot on the floor.”
I listened through Sam’s voice mails which were begging me to come home, he informed me that once Em knew I was asleep he started moping around Emily’s house again for the fourth consecutive night in a row. This was news to me.
The texts entailed that Embry was becoming a pain on patrol and that Paul ‘couldn’t take another minute of the incessant whining.’ I told them the same thing I told Embry; I’m not dropping everything and rushing back home to sooth the wails of a love sick boy. There isn’t much I can do from across the ocean anyway.
I stretched my body and headed towards the bathroom to brush my teeth and shower before I had to leave for the airport.
I packed the few remaining things I left out to prepare for the flight and headed my way to the lobby to check out. I enjoyed travelling but I wasn’t going to miss sleeping in hotels and hostels.
Two weeks have passed since I touched down in Ireland and to say I’ve been having the time of my life is an understatement; I’ve been having a ball living my best life.
The land was capped in a luscious emerald green sea of grass that waved in the wind, the roads were lined with hand built stone walls that marked the division of farmers fields.
Sheep and cattle grazed in pastures, and old castles dotted the countryside. It was gorgeous. It was a view that I wanted to see again, a view I want to see with Embry.
It felt like time was flying by between sight seeing, trail hiking, museum tours and calls with Embry and Leah. It has already been a month. I had one more month before I was to jet set back to the U.S. and see my Embry.
One more month before I was back in La Push surrounded by the scent of sea water and trees with the looming threat of rain constantly overhead except in the summer. For two months of the year La Push was bright and sunny with the expected summer storms that happened.
I had fallen asleep on the phone with Embry again when I realized my phone was lost in the sea of sheets as it buzzed with an incoming phone call.
I couldn’t find it until the call had gone to voicemail and my phone landed on the ground when I gave up and ripped the blankets off of the bed but whoever called must have felt it was really important. Picking up my phone the most unflattering photo of Jacob was plastered on the screen, his name in white.
“Hello?” I asked groggily into the phone, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. I looked over at the clock which said in bold red numbers 1 am.
“Hey (y/n)! You sound like you just woke up.” I heard him chortle from the other end.
“That’s because I just woke up Jake, it’s one in the morning.” a yawn escaped my lips, I know I’ll have a rough time getting over jet lag when I go home.
He occupied twenty minutes with idle chatter and borderline interrogation about all the sights I’ve seen before I asked him why he was calling me so early in the morning
“Embry has spent the week at my house, you need to come home there’s nothing we can do anymore to occupy him till you return.” He sighed, Jake knows I want to finish my trip but we made a deal that I would come home early if there were absolutely no options left to keep Embry from sending the pack into hysterics.
I knew he was buttering me up for something.
“Are you sure you can’t figure something out? It’s just another month!”
“Another month of him eating my cereal and getting dirt on me from my dad!”
I snorted with laughter at the fact that Billy was telling Embry every embarrassing detail from his childhood.
“Jake please just let me think about it okay?” I sighed, flopping back into my hollowed cave of blankets and sheets.
“Okay, I’ll let you think about it but don’t think I won’t be telling Sam.” he warned.
We laughed together and he wished me a good night before hanging up the phone, before I slipped back into slumber I sent Jake one more text.
‘You wake me up at one in the morning again and it’s over for you.’ in which he responded with ‘Oh no I’m so scared lol.’
I reached over to the bedside table and plugged my phone in before the sweet embrace of warmth and slumber took over my senses.
The next three days I was bombarded with texts from Paul whining about the wolf mind link and how every patrol shift he had with Embry was spent tuning out his constant thoughts of me.
Standing in the shower with hot water running over my skin soothing my tense muscles I heard my phone buzz against the granite countertop. I rolled my eyes and continued to bask in the endless hotel hot water.
As bad as staying in hotels could be, the hot water made up for the early breakfast and sheets that were tucked in a little too tightly.
I had shampoo in my hair when my phone started buzzing again, this time with a call. I grumbled under the stream of water washing away the soap before it could get in my eyes; whoever's calling can wait.
I moved on to conditioning my hair, letting it sit while I wash the rest of my body with a lightly scented lavender soap.
I refused to use the complimentary soap because it dried out my skin and the lotion just left me feeling sticky instead of moisturized.
Watching the soap run down the drain my phone rang again, I clenched my fists, who could possibly be calling me now? I still refused to get out of my steamy heaven to answer my phone.
My gut told me that whoever was calling wouldn’t let up until I answered. I washed out the conditioner from my hair and wrapped it in a towel.
The mirror was coated in a layer of steam, the tiles were cool against my feet. I wrapped the plush towel around my body, mopping up the droplets of water that remained.
My phone started vibrating with rapid fire text messages from the pack’s group chat they made a month ago. I sighed, picking it up to sift through the messages. I read a message from Jared telling me he’d pay me to return.
The pack always made me laugh, together they’re a walking sitcom. There is never a dull moment with them, someone always had something witty or sarcastic to say.
I checked to see who had called me and it turned out it was Sam, I listened to his voice mails and immediately phoned him back.
As soon as I hit the call button it only rang for half a second before he picked up.
“Thank you for calling back, I thought I’d have to call two more times.” he chuckled.
“Well I was in the middle of a shower, can’t really take a call there.” I moved through the room with my phone pressed between my shoulder and cheek. Stopping at my suitcase to pick out what I was going to wear for the day.
“I’m going to be frank with you, I need you to come home. . .” I let out a huff before he continued.
“Embry needs you badly, he’s just a pile of mush on the floor now. It’s a chore to get him up to go on patrol. Please?”
“Fine, I’ll see what I can do Sam, I’ll try to book a flight for the earliest date I can find.” I knew I was giving in but from what they were telling me and the constant texts were getting to be difficult to manage.
“Thank you, when you get back I’ll buy you take out for a month okay?”
“I hate that you know what my weakness is.” I laughed through the phone, a month of free take out? Hell yeah. It made the prospect of going back a little brighter since I wasn’t going to complete the rest of my trip.
I wasn’t losing out on too much though, I had seen and done everything that I wanted. It wouldn’t be too bad to go home early.
We talked for a couple more minutes before parting ways, I threw my phone on the bed and watched it bounce a couple times before turning my attention back to getting dressed. Since I had a flight to book it was okay to spend the rest of the day lounging in pj’s.
The soft fabric of my pj’s brushed against my skin as I jumped into bed with my computer in hand, and now it was time to book a flight back home. Maybe text Paul and tell him he can quit complaining as well.
I woke up the next morning with my flight booked for take off in the afternoon and my daily good morning text from Embry. I felt a little sad to be leaving such a beautiful country but the trees, ocean and Embry all called my name.
Pacing through the room I grabbed the comfiest set of clothes I packed for my return flight back to Seattle, I had enough time to sleep on the plane to be conscious enough for the three and a half hour drive back to La Push.
I was set for a long day ahead of me but it was going to be worth it in the end, seeing the bright and happy face of my boyfriend, getting to hug him and kiss him again.
I made one last check of the room before I gathered my clothes and toiletry kit and made my way into the bathroom to shower before my long flight. As I was stepping into the shower my phone pinged from the counter with a text from Sam.
“Have you booked that flight yet?” it read.
“Yeah I’m due for take off at 1. I should be back in La Push some time tomorrow!”
My fingers brushed the cool surface of the counter top as I put my phone back and got into the shower, hot water immediately running down my back; this time my phone wasn’t being blown up by a desperate wolf pack trying to get my attention.
I can’t sit in the shower for hours on end this time, I have a flight to catch and a boy to surprise. Embry was currently still under the impression that I would be coming home in two weeks. Boy would he be in for a surprise.
The residual steam wafted out of the bathroom while I brushed my teeth revealing my towel wrapped body and hair in the mirror behind the skin. I checked the time and noted that I had two hours to check out, make my way to the airport, and check into my flight back home. Two more hours before I could smell the trees and ocean, two more hours before I could see my friends and hug Embry.
The time managed to move by in a blur by the time I was shutting the trunk of the yellow cab that was going to drop me off at the airport. I got into the back seat and the driver peeled away from the hotel front onto the winding roads.
“Aye where are you headin’?” The driver inquired in a thick Irish accent.
One thing I noticed in my stay here was that the accent changed in every town or village I passed through. It added to the charm
“Well, I’m on my way home after spending six months in Europe.” My eyes scanned over the green hills that rushed past in a blur.
“My favourite places I’ve been have definitely been Ireland and Greece.” I smiled towards him.
The lines around his eyes crinkled with the smile that graced his face at the mention of Ireland.
“Well that’s good to hear innit? Glad you’ve enjoyed your stay. We welcome ya with open arms if you return.”
We held a light conversation until we arrived in front of the drop off area for passengers, thanked him and grabbed my bags before heading into the crowded lobby.
The front of the terminal was metal and glass that reached towards the heavens with automatic doors gaping open like a mouth. Inside was a dull white with light grey floor which my shoes clicked against with each step.
It was packed with people like a can of sardines, I weaved my way through the masses towards the check in desk which thankfully only had a short line to get through.
Under the mix of fluorescents and natural light the desk lady’s bags that donned under her eyes glared with visible exhaustion from the mass amounts of people that swarmed the terminal.
Despite her clear drowsiness she still greeted me with a warm smile and a soft hello.
I grabbed my ticket and thanked her then turned and pushed myself through to the security check, dropped my luggage off and took a seat to wait for the boarding call for my flight.
As I waited grey clouds started to fill the sky blocking out the little sun that was once shining in its place.
My eyes grew heavier by each minute that passed, waiting could be hard, but waiting in an airport where there’s no sense of time is worse. So I distracted myself by people watching.
A lady was bouncing her baby, the old man across from me was snoring. A businessman paced back and forth speaking urgently into his phone, a family chatted excitedly for their family trip to the Canary Islands.
I pulled my eyes away from them as the call for my flight rang out over the crowded terminal, grabbing my suitcase and making my way towards the gate.
Excitement filled my every step as the anticipation grew and bubbled inside me. I gave the greeting flight attendant a small smile and made my way to my seat, for being last minute I managed to get a window seat.
We sat on the tarmac for twenty minutes before taking off and before I knew it the seat belt light pinged off and I was fast asleep jet setting my way back to America, back to my home.
I couldn’t tell what time it was when I woke up but the clock on the tv screen said 2 a.m. and that we’re due to arrive in an hour. I sat up in my seat and gazed out the window into the starry night sky.
Energy started to course through me as I watched the arrival time tick closer and closer. A light rain misted down over Seattle as I left the Seatac terminal and made my way through the maze of cars in the night that was made darker by the rain.
I spotted my blue Subaru and popped the trunk so my interior and seats wouldn’t get wet. It had been a long six months since I last sat in my driver's seat, the wheel almost felt foreign in my hands as I turned the key and listened to the engine roar to life.
I drove through the winding roads of the city to the Seattle-Bainbridge Ferry to take the 45 minute ride into Bainbridge and headed North to get on the 101 then turn onto 110 which would take me back into the heart of La Push.
The closer I got to Forks the brighter the sky became; well as bright as it could be on a gloomy day. The clouds became painted in the glow of purple and pink as the sun rose over the horizon, the rain had let up and left me with an overcast sky for the remainder of the drive back.
Since I slept virtually the entire flight back I didn’t feel the weight of exhaustion at all, but surely when I arrived back in the arms of Embry I knew I’d hit the wall with sleep deprivation.
As I barreled through the corridor of trees I passed the signature ‘welcome to Forks’ sign and turned right onto the 110, twenty minutes to home. I was so close but my soul felt like it was light years away.
The clock on my radio told me that it was currently 6:45, the pinks and purples that coated the sky faded away to the typical grey that fills my senses with delight. Sea salt and washed up kelp started to seep into the air that circulated into my car making the hair on the back of my neck stand on end.
Closer to Beach Drive I got the stronger the smell of the ocean became. The turn signal clicked as I turned onto the road that gave way to Sam and Emily’s house so they could take me over to Embry’s in the off chance that he happened to be awake at this hour.
It’s highly unlikely that he would be up at this hour but it’s not something I could be one hundred percent positive about. I stepped out of my car and turned around to see Emily running as fast as she possibly could towards me with open arms and a huge smile plastered across her face.
Dropping my bags I dashed across their lawn into her embrace.
“Oh (y/n)! I missed you so much, you must be so tired.” She released me from her hug and settled her hands on my shoulders giving them a gentle squeeze.
“I missed you too Emily, I knew I’d be tired but not this tired.” I chuckled while wiping at my under eyes in a feeble attempt to wipe away the exhaustion.
She put her hand on my lower back and led me inside for the awaiting cup of tea while Sam moved my bags into his truck.
The warmth of their home embraced me, the comfort of their kitchen was familiar. The only thing missing was the rowdy group of boys that made up the pack who usually occupied every available seat in the home.
I took a seat at the kitchen table where three cups of tea sat waiting, I should have expected a q and a when I returned. Wrapping my hands around the mug the warmth that radiated from it filled my hands.
Emily took a seat beside me and Sam entered through the door and sat adjacent to both of us.
“So how was the trip?” We sat around their table chatting until our cups were empty and filed out of the house into the early morning air.
“Emily and I will drive your car back to your place after I drop you off at Embry’s, the kid’s been sleeping in my living room more often than I’d appreciate.” Sam’s eyes crinkled with a smile, I knew he was joking but at the same time there was truth to his words; and honestly I couldn’t blame him.
“Thank you for putting up with him while I was gone, I owe you guys one and you owe me take out for a month.” He rolled his eyes and ruffled my hair turning into the Call's driveway. Embry’s mom had already left for work leaving him to his own devices; which meant he would sleep in as late as his heart desired.
We got out of Sam’s truck and he dropped my bags on the doorstep. I turned and gave him a quick hug and a thank you before sticking my key into the lock.
The door creaked open and I dragged my suitcases to a stop in their front entry way and shut it behind me.
My shoes landed on the floor with a soft thud and I gingerly walked up the stairs to ensure I wasn’t too noisy while making sure to avoid the one squeaky stair.
I got to the top of the stairs and hung a left down their light beige hallway that gave way to the oak door that guarded Embry’s room. His soft snores filtered through the door, it’s door knob was cool in my hand. Making an audible click with the turn of my wrist.
Dark mahogany brown hair peaked up from beneath the sheet that tucked Embry’s body out of view. One pillow was on the floor while the other was tucked firmly between his cheek and arm, I smiled at the sight of my sleeping boyfriend which filled my every inch with the utmost joy.
My sock covered feet pressed into the carpeted flooring with each step I took towards his bed making sure to step over the piles of dirty clothes that were scattered around the room.
The sun filtered through the gaps in the window blinds casting pools of golden light on the floor and along his walls causing the crystal prism that hung above his closet to sweep dashes of colour across his walls.
I pulled back the grey top sheet to reveal his peaceful face and I swear my heart was going to burst with the amount of love that I feel for him. His hair was tousled in every direction and a cow lick stuck straight up on the left side of his head.
My hands ran over his hair, smoothing it out while I whispered his name. Embry groaned a bit and rolled over, I whispered his name a little bit louder and moved my hands from his hair to his shoulders running them along his arms finally waking him from his slumber.
“Hi Em!” I gushed out as his brown eyes opened and focused on me. His face split with his toothy smile and his arms shot around me, pulling me down into his chest.
“Do you know how much I missed you?” Embry mumbled into my hair.
“I figured a lot with the amount of texts I got from the pack.” I reached up brushing the hair from his face.
“You can never leave me for that long again. . .I didn’t know what to do without you here.” He ran his hands through my hair placing a gentle kiss upon the top of my head.
“I was so worried about you. I couldn’t protect you and make sure you were safe.”
“Well next time I’ll make sure you can come, then you don’t have to worry.” Craning my neck up I placed a kiss upon his lips which were still a bit swollen from slumber.
“The important thing is that I returned safe and in one piece. The other important thing is I get to spoil you with the gifts I brought back!”
His laugh filled the room sending vibrations through my body.
“Hey! That’s my job to spoil you, not the other way around.” He ruffled my hair causing us both to laugh. I peeled off my socks and wiggled my way under his blanket.
“I think it’s time we catch up on six months worth of cuddling.” I poked a finger into his side.
“Yeah I think that’s a good idea, you owe me for being gone so long.”
“What? I came back early!” His hands made their way under my shirt to rest on the bare skin of my back sending waves of heat through my body from being pressed into him. Oh how I missed my heater.
“Yeah, by like what? Two weeks?” his silky voice chuckled out.
“I missed you Embry.” I told him, placing a kiss on his exposed shoulder.
“I missed you too. Now let's go back to sleep, you look tired.” He said to me as he rested his chin atop my head and pulling me closer.
The money thing (part 1/2) - Daniel Ricciardo
It's always the little things, isn't it? The smallest stupidest things make almost no difference and then make all the difference in the world. They make everything special, but they also have the power to tear everything appart.
You and Daniel fight about money for the thousand time and he's had enough of it.
Warnings: super angst, but with a happy ending :)
Guys, this turned out WAY BIGGER than I expected, so I'm just gonna do a part 2, okay? Okay, thanks for understanding!
Song that inspired me: A list by HVOB
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You and Daniel had been dating for a couple months now, having met through a common friend and hitting off almost instantly. You lived in Amsterdam and he, well he lived all over the world really, but his "time off" (meaning not racing) was spent between Monaco and London (for work), and Amsterdam now too, of course.
The changes were small and subtle at the beginning, like your weekends being spent traveling to meet him wherever in the world he was and consequently spending almost all your savings on plane tickets. You never complained to him (you planned on spending the money traveling anyway, so you didn't see the point), but didn't accept when he offered to buy your tickets, either. There's been some awkwardness around the subject but it usually died on its own.
*beginning of flashback*
"You’d have gotten here in time if you'd gotten the early flight like I told you" you remembered him saying that time you got in the paddock after the qualifying session had begun and couldn’t kiss him good luck.
"Baby, I told you. It was crazy expensive! Absurd even!"
"(y/n) for god's sake! What are we saving money for? I told you, you have my credit card number, I've offered to get you one, this is ridiculous, I can't believe I literally earn millions and my girlfriend wasn't there with me because the ticket was too expensive! I'll fucking fly you private if I have to!" he was almost yelling in his driver's room. You could only stare from the corner.
He took a deep breath running his hands through his hair. "Sorry. It's just... it was crap out there. I needed you" you grimaced at his words.
"Sorry. I really am..." you tried to approach him. "I'm here now?" you touched his arm. "It can't have been that bad, you're still on the top 10 and we both know what you can do from the 8th car..." you smiled at him.
*end of flashback*
He started to spend much more of his time off with you at your place, so you decided to get a place by yourself (having a roommate was great for company and splitting the rent, but having a roommate there while you guys just wanted some much-needed privacy was not working). Then there were more traveling to meet him, furniture for the new place, clothing for all the events (GPs or not), uber rides here and there... all of that without mentioning that you weren't being able to get the freelance jobs you used to get to make some extra money, so yeah, to say things were tight was an understatement. You tried to do all your shopping alone, so he wouldn't offer and you wouldn't refuse or be awkward about it, but Daniel seem to be glued to you whenever you were in the same city (not that you’re complaining).
You tried to do all your shopping alone, so he wouldn't offer and you wouldn't refuse or be awkward about it, but Daniel seem to be glued to you whenever you were in the same city (not that you’re complaining).
The thing is, you always had trouble dealing with money. Sure, you liked to pay for your own stuff so as to not owe anything to anyone (especially boys), but it was so much deeper than that. Ever since a kid, you hated asking for money from your parents, and sometimes even the thought of buying stuff that was a bit more expensive made you sick. You couldn't explain why, you just felt guilty having so much and knowing that most people have never even seen that amount. It's not that you didn't want to spend it and save for the sake of it, you just didn't handle the idea of money very well. Needless to say, dating a millionnaire was bound to cause trouble in the relationship for you.
You were currently at his place in Monaco. It was the summer break and you had decided to spend some days just chilling at home, just the two of you - which you were glad since going out means hair, makeup, clothes, accessories, shoes... and, let's be honest, the kind of places he usually took you is not the kind of places you just throw something together last minute (the Instagram models and other driver's girlfriends looking you up and down were enough to make you think about spending money you did not have to hire a stylist or something like that). The whole situation was really stressing you out and you knew you would have to be honest with him eventually, instead of only dodging the subject and refusing most of his offers to pay. You tried to. You kind of tried. You suggested staying at home, in bed, most of the time, and he gladly agreed, but that strategy wasn't gonna work forever. You had to be honest with him. But at the same time, you knew what he was going to say and do, and the thought of him spending money on you, even if just by handling the restaurant bill, wasn't something you were much more comfortable with. Besides, it was only a matter of time before the "gold-digger" term starts to fly around in the small world that was the F1's.
You were laying on his couch, the Olympics playing on the TV but you were too busy overthinking the money thing to pay attention. Daniel was laying with his head on your lap, absently caressing your thigh and watching the TV. His phone went off and he moved to pick it up.
"Hello?" you watched as he answered the phone. "Hey mate, how's it going? Uh nothing, we're just chilling at home. Getting some rest... Yeah, I'm getting rested, you dirty-minded son of a bitch" you rolled your eyes while he laughed out loud on the line with someone. "Yeah, I know... the 19th is it? No, it's fine. Yeah, yeah. I'll be there. Alright, mate. Thanks for calling. Have a good one! Bye!" he hanged up and leaned in to peck you on the lips.
"Good news?" you asked him.
"Not really. Just wanted to kiss you" he shrugged, smiling. You smiled back and hugged him, pulling him in for another kiss. He was always so caring with you, always finding an excuse to kiss or touch you. You knew some people didn't like it, but you loved it. Physical touch was definitely one of your love languages.
"What's happening on the 19th then?" you asked him once you guys set apart from the kiss.
"Gotta be in London. Gonna run some testings and other boring race stuff..."
"Hum..." you hummed in understanding.
"You know what would make it less boring though?" he asked and you just looked at him, you already knew what he was going to ask you and it wasn't that you didn't want to spend every minute of the day with him, but you simply couldn't afford any more traveling, especially not in such short notice. "If you came with me. Huh? What do you say? A week in the Queen's land? Then we can fly together to Spa and after the race, I can go with you to Amsterdam. The next one it's the Dutch GP anyway, I'll just get there sooner" he laughed. It was crushing you, the man of your dreams was literally beaming at making plans with you, talking about spending the next few weeks glued together and you couldn't say yes.
"Dan, I have to work" you smiled sadly.
"Can't you work from distance? Or, I don't know, I mean... I know it's tiring, but you could come to London and fly home a bit early, then just meet me in Belgium?" great, his solution includes even more flying. And the thing is, you really didn't mind the flying. You always slept during the whole thing anyway, so you never got tired and the jetlag was minimal. You could work from distance, sure. Your boss wouldn't mind, as long as you got there eventually to check in on everything. But the whole logistics were just too expensive. There was no way you could afford it.
"I... sorry, I don't think I can" you said sadly and watched as his face dropped.
"That's fine, baby. I get it. I'm asking too much, all this traveling... don't worry about it" he tried to mask his emotions but you knew better. He knew you could in fact work from distance, so he was probably thinking the reason you couldn't do it was because you didn't want to.
He got up from the couch and walked into the kitchen. Meanwhile, you couldn't help but bury your face in your palms. This was so frustrating!
"You wanna go for a run or something? Maybe get something to eat?" he called from the kitchen, already moving on from the subject. You knew this whole thing was only gonna keep build up till he got tired of your excuses or you blowing up, probably the former, but you just keep going.
"Yeah, sure" you answered, getting up from the couch.
You and Daniel were both very active so going for a run, hiking, riding bikes, or whatever in the middle of the day was really routine for you. The Monaco summer weather was as beautiful as always and the sun was shining bright. You enjoyed the rest of your afternoon racing each other, kissing in the harbor, and just taking in the views, spending quality time together. Money wasn't even a thing in your bubble for a while.
"I'm getting hungry" he said on the way back home.
"Me too, and I'm super hot. I could go for a juice or something right now" you were all sweaty from the running, but you didn't care, he was too.
"You're always hot baby, I don't think juice gonna help with that" he grinned at you and you just rolled your eyes at him.
You passed by one of his favorite spots for food, nearby his place and he suggested getting some take-out, to which you agreed.
"Green juice, and a chicken wrap?" you tried to decide while the both of you waited in line.
"I'll never understand how you drink that"
"I've seen you drink that too, it's actually very refreshing"
"Because I'm forced to, I'm a high-performance athlete baby. But I'm on a break, so I'll have a coke, thank you very much" you laughed at him. He was holding your hand and tried to kiss you, wrapping his arm around you, you didn't dodge his kiss, you would never, but still laughed at the fact he wanted to kiss the sweaty mess you were right now.
"I'm gross, only you" you laughed.
"That's my baby, with no makeup she a ten" he rapped shrugging and grinning.
"Alright Lil Wayne, I know that one, don't even finish the verse" you laughed at him, making him laugh out loud, getting everyone's in the restaurant's attention.
"It's true, though"
"Sure..." You just shook your head smiling. Then you heard someone call his name.
"Hey! Daniel!" you both turned around to see Charles and Charlotte sitting in a corner, him waving at you two. You had met Charles a couple of times before but never spoke too much to him. They seemed to be leaving anyway, so they walked towards you guys, instead of towards the door.
"Hey mate, how's it going?" Daniel greeted him with a handshake. "Hey, Charlotte! You know (y/n) yet?"
"Hi! I don't think so, hi! How are you?" she greeted you smiling.
"Hi! Nice to meet you. Hi, Charles!" you said.
"Hey, (y/n). You're keeping him in line during the break? Char won't let me cheat my diet either" he laughed.
"Oh, that ship has sailed long ago! Daniel will just roll into the paddock if it's up to him" you laughed back.
"Hey! I think I've earned the right to some extra calories, we've been working out extra hard lately" Daniel said waving his eyebrows suggestively, making Charlotte giggle, Charles rolls his eyes and you go even redder than you were from the actual workout, while he just laughed out loud.
"I don't even want to know" Charles said. "Always great running into you mate" he was getting ready to say goodbye.
"Are we seeing you guys tomorrow?" Charlotte asked you.
"Tomorrow?" you asked her.
"Stefano's birthday" she said like it was obvious. Stefano Domenicali was the President and CEO of Formula 1, but you didn't know that yet - still, her tone made it seems like it was someone Daniel knew, so you just looked at him. He just rubbed his neck, looking a little embarrassed. "Oh, wait. Please tell me I didn't just said something I shouldn't" she looked at Charles.
"No, no. He invited me. Us, actually" Daniel reassured her. "I don't think we're going though, forgot to mention to you" he said looking at you.
"Uh mate, I wouldn't skip that if I were you. He didn't even invite all the drivers I heard" Charles said. "Maybe just stop by to say hello?"
"Stop by... a yacht... at the sea?" Charlotte said grinning at him. Daniel looked at you.
"You feel like going? It should be fun" he asked you.
"Sounds fancy... I mean, I don't mind if you go" you said.
"Common... I’m not going alone" he nudged you.
"I don't even have anything to wear, Dan" you told him.
"Oh! We can go shopping together!" Charlotte said and you had almost forgotten they were still there.
"Perfect!" Daniel answered for you. You could only imagine the types of stores she shopped.
"Tomorrow morning, then? Daniel can text your address to Charles for me? I'll pick you up!" she was being really nice about it.
"I thought you wanted to go today?" Charles said.
"That's when I thought I would have to go shopping with you, so I could use the extra time since you're the worst shopping partner ever!" she laughed at him.
"Burn!" Daniel laughed.
"His fashion taste is not the most reliable, let's face it" she laughed and kissed his cheek. "It's a date then (y/n)?" she looked expectantly at you. You didn't want to let her down, it was so hard to make friends with the girlfriends of other drivers, they were usually so... not nice. You could always just help her and find something to wear in your own stuff later.
"Yeah, sure! See you tomorrow, at 10?" you said simply.
"Perfect!" she beamed.
moving in — seijoh 4 x gn! reader
Tumblr media
it’s been exactly two weeks since you’ve made the decision of moving in with your best friends, and so far, everything’s been a bit better than you expected.
when the idea was first pitched to you, you admit, you thought it was a very poorly written out joke shared over a few beers and the pitiful nostalgia of graduating— you were wrong.
they were alarmingly serious about this.
“just a few months ‘til we all head off for college.” hanamaki told you, his arm casually over your shoulder and you’ve known him long enough to know that pushing him off is futile.
“then do it without me.” you said, a lazy smile on your face as you continued to walk. “i’ll visit literally every day.”
“no, you won’t,” matsukawa said, his words laced with a soft chuckle, “you don’t ever go anywhere without being physically dragged off.”
“you don’t understand,” you smiled, “i have such a lovely room.”
iwaizumi fell next to you, his voice blunt, “you can have the biggest room.”
“that’s not entirely better.” you shrugged.
“at least think about it,” oikawa told you, his charming smile coating his tone and you found a bit of warmth in the reserved gaze you realize he only had for you, “for me.”
“as if that’s the selling point, shittykawa!”
“i am always the selling point, iwa-chan!”
you ignored their usual banter, moving away from the four as you quickened your steps and you sighed. “i’ll think about it.”
you don’t miss the shared grins they all give each other, knowing you well enough to understand that they’ve successfully wore you down and before you knew it, you were signing a lease to a four bedroom loft that you were lucky enough to afford.
it didn’t feel weird or anything, you’ve known these guys since forever and more, really the only problem you’ve had with this was the fact that you knew how much of a slob they’d all be to live with — not that you were any better — but hey, surely you were neater than four sweaty athletes.
which brings you to where you are now; just a few weeks after graduating from aoba johsai and barely even a few days since getting comfortable in your new temporary apartment.
you figured it was better than you expected.
hanamaki’s nice to keep around. he’s almost always just lounging in front of the tv, sometimes a controller in his hands, most of the time, his fingers running through his short trimmed hair as he shifts over numerous college application essays.
you’ve found yourself waking up at three am a few times to get yourself a cup of water only to see him to have fallen asleep on the coffee table with folders and envelopes around him.
sometimes you’d sit with him, sometimes you’d wake him up to help him trudge to his bed. either way, he’d always end up pulling your head close, giving you a quick kiss on the temple as he sleepily mumbles something along the lines of “thank you” or “good night”.
iwaizumi’s somewhat the same; buried in college prep and sorting through plane tickets as he made the ever so impressive decision to take his future abroad. you’d told him numerous times how proud he made you and he’d always give you back the warm grin he seemed to have reserved just for you.
he isn’t the last one you see off to bed, but he’s always the first to get up in the morning. no matter what time you wake up, he’s already there in the kitchen brewing a pot of coffee (much to your dismay since his blend is a tad bit bitter to your liking but you’ve never had the heart to tell him that).
(though truth be told, ever since iwaizumi found out you woke up at the crack of dawn, he’d begrudgingly fallen into the habit of waking up before you just so he could make you coffee before seeing you off for the day.
he hates waking up that early.
but he does like the smile you give him when you walk out the door.)
you spend the most time with matsukawa. his schedule was freer than the rest of the boys so if you ever needed to go anywhere, he’d already be there to insist that he came with you.
he’d pick you up from your day job, a lazy grin encasing his face the minute he sees you from the car window— you looked tired, worn out from the ruthless retail, and though he couldn’t say that to your face, he sure is glad he’d have an excuse to take you for coffee before heading home.
oikawa’s the busiest. his taxing schedule now so much worse after his decision to go to argentina. (you told him you’d miss him, he told you you didn’t have to, and begged you to try and fit in his luggage.) all that aside, you barely got to see him; you’d wake up finding him already gone for the day, and come home to him passed out on the couch.
some nights he’d come home later than you, too tired to know which is left or right, and more than once, he’d end up in your room, clocking out the second he crashes on your bed.
you don’t push him off, you never had the heart to. you missed him. not that you’d ever say it to his face, but he hasn’t even left for college and you were already missing him.
it’s a sunday morning— one of the few times a week all of you had a free day, and normally you’d all just end up sleeping in, most days you’d get up and enjoy breakfast with the other four, but when the bed felt too warm and too peaceful, you’d rather just waste the day away in your room.
a pair of arms pull you out of your sleep, your head softly falling against someone’s chest and you blink— you went to bed alone last night.
“what the hell, shittykawa!” you yell, sitting up and pushing him off of you.
oikawa groans, having just been brutally woken up, he pouts, “... you spend too much time with iwa-chan, you sound exactly like him.”
“go sleep in your own room!”
“but — you have the softest bed!”
“no?” matsukawa says, leaning on your door frame looking like he’d just woken up. his voice is groggy, almost annoyed, “i have the softest bed.”
oikawa pushes you away, ignoring your groans as he laid back on your mattress and he says, smile wide, “that’s not true— feel this.”
matsukawa narrows his eyes, walking up to him without even acknowledging your constant complaints of ‘no! do not feel this, go away!’
he sits on the edge of your bed, taking a second before falling on his back and taking in your white comforters.
“what the fuck?” he says, “what the hell, why do you have the softest bed?”
“because i’m me.” you tell them both, rolling your eyes as you realize that you probably won’t be getting your bed back anytime soon.
hanamaki walks in barely a moment later, his hand tiredly rubbing his left eye as he yawns away the last of his sleep.
he blinks, unsure what to make out of the scene in front of him. matsukawa and oikawa pulled on your duvet, pushing each other off every second as they fought on who got a bigger part of the blanket, and you, well — you had your head propped up on your headboard, muttering under your breath as you tried to push the two off your mattress.
“what’s going on?” he asks, a smile already forming on his face as he recognized the early morning chatter.
you look up, eyes brightening at the sight of hanamaki, he was going to help you.
“makki! my love!” you yelped, “get them out of my room, please.”
“no. makki will not.” matsukawa grins, “did you know this is the softest bed in the apartment?”
hanamaki frowns, “i have the softest bed in the apartment.”
oikawa grins, “feel this!”
you take it back. oikawa tooru might not make it to argentina after all, not when you were going to kill him in cold blood after this.
before you could even protest, oikawa pushes you more to the side, clearing some space for hanamaki who (so traitorously) plopped down on his side beside you.
“what the fuck,” he says, eyes widening as he moved around for a more comfortable position.
matsukawa nods, “that’s what i said too.”
“why do you have the softest bed?” oikawa groans, “we’re the ones who play volleyball— we’re basically sore all the time.”
you blink, “i was sleeping.”
they ignore you.
“you want the bed?” you ask, getting up from your mattress, and you glare. “fine. keep it.”
“wait, we were just joki—”
you ignore what they were going to say, slamming your door on your way out, and you curse under your breath every step of the way to the room right across from yours.
iwaizumi’s room. somewhere cold, peaceful, quiet. you ought to remind him to keep his door locked, but right now, as you stood by his doorway, drowsy and almost desperate to go back to sleep, you’re thankful he doesn’t.
you don’t say another word, walking directly up to his bedside and plopping down on the open space next to him.
he stirs, and you take his movement with a sigh.
“move.” you tell him, a pillow in hand and he looks up at you with sleep plastered on his face.
iwaizumi does as you say, moving deeper into his side and he yawns, “what’re you doing?”
“we are going to sleep.” you tell him, snuggling deeper in his covers as you got yourself comfortable.
you look at him, “unless you want to join those three idiots outside.”
iwaizumi ignores the warmth coming up on his face, pushing his pulsing heart aside, he shrugs, throwing an arm over you, and he mutters, “not even gonna ask what happened.”
(you fall back asleep quick after that, but that doesn’t last long as iwaizumi’s door opens again, oikawa going on and on with complaints about how iwaizumi was obviously your favorite, matsukawa barely caring as he pushes past him and just crashes in between you both and hanamaki declaring a dog pile as he so ruthlessly jumps on top of you.
it was horrible.
you wouldn’t have it any other way with them.)
Body Shots (Pierre Gasly)
Tumblr media
Inspired by (and beta read) by the amazing @limp-wrist-max thank you Mea!
Masterlist
Word count: 3.5k
Recommended song: “Lucky You” by Sim Dane
Vacationing in Milan had its perks. Fine dining, luxury stores that were prime for window shopping, and the proximity to your best friend, to name a few.
When you'd touched down in Milan you had had no intentions of visiting Pierre. You had just finished your exams for your summer class and had a week before the next semester started up, so you had simply booked the cheapest ticket and boarded a plane.
The intent had been to have some good wine, good food and unwind. Pierre saw your Instagram story minutes after you posted it and recognized the bakery you stopped at for lunch. And once he found out you were only a few minutes away from that weekend's grand prix, he had ideas that didn't involve you reading a novel all day.
Pierre had insisted that a last minute cancelation by a family friend had left a paddock pass unclaimed and had suggested you take it.
"You're my best friend, it'll be fun to have you experience a weekend through my eyes for once instead of sitting in the stands. Come visit me."
Something in the inflection of his voice made the simple request rub you raw. He missed you. It had been months since your last get together and you couldn't blame him. The last year had been rough for him and he  rarely had anyone physically at his side to help him through it.
Inviting you instead of one of his parents was about more than your current proximity to the track. He hadn't missed a beat in asking you, not hesitating to consider anyone else being with him this weekend.
Your stomach had turned as you climbed in a cab Sunday morning, not out of fear of something going wrong but because of the nagging feeling that something was about to change.
You'd known Pierre since you were kids. Your brother had raced in karting before pursuing another dream, but in the few short years you'd hung around European tracks you had managed to forge a bond with one of your brother's rivals. That friendship carried on regardless of the distance that separated you, kept alive by visits in the off season and once a year trips to the racetrack at Silverstone.
Pierre met you at the gates and you had barely seen him since.
A decent qualifying session saw the Frenchman start P10 on Sunday's race. He didn't hide the fact that he was disappointed, but come time for his final meeting with the team you'd never guess he was anything but ecstatic.
You had to be conscious about your mouth hanging open when Pierre stepped into the garage in his fireproofs with his suit half undone. The tuft of blond hair peeking through his backwards cap floats on an invisible breeze and he bounces on his toes. His brow furrows when he is handed a data sheet, listening intently to what the engineer points out.
Butterflies riot in your stomach when Pierre catches you staring and winks. You pray he writes the blush on your cheeks off as the heat and he must, because he raises his eyebrows and flexes a bit.
You laugh to cover the way you want to do nothing but strip him out of that tight fitted white shirt. Your crush was getting out of hand. Pierre's shameless, friendly flirting only escalated matters.
You told yourself it was nothing. He was like this with every girl he met, making a fool of himself to earn a laugh. You were no different, except maybe that you were a constant where most other women only got to enjoy his playful personality for a short time.
You're treated to a few long minutes of watching Pierre prep to climb into the car before he's heading out on track to line up at the grid.
The race starts off fine, Pierre's pace is better than expected. One of the Haas's breaks down at the pit entry and Pierre's strategist decides to bring him in for a fresh set of tires. A kiss seems like the proper reward for their stroke of brilliance, which affords Pierre the advantage when the pits close soon after.
Restarting on lap 28 is nail biting. Hamilton, Stroll, and Pierre make up the podium places. The entire garage gasps when Stroll goes wide at turn four. Hamilton serves his penalty and Pierre inherits the lead. Sainz jumps on the opportunity to attack.
Pierre defends brilliantly until the final lap. The team erupts when he crosses the line first, bringing home the win.
Red, white and green confetti sticks to his skin as he sprays the champagne over all of you. In the heat of it all, Pierre sits on that top step and shakes his head. You already know that the photos of him being snapped from all angles will be gorgeous, the sun shining down on the first French grand prix winner in decades.
A legend in the minds of his people and in yours.
You could scarcely believe it yourself. Your best friend had finally, after years of being pushed down, won a grand prix at the temple of speed. Red Bull had been wrong, just as you'd insisted when Pierre cried over losing his seat and his friend in one weekend. But god, did Pierre rise above it all.
Pierre catches your gaze just before he leaves the podium. A lifetime of emotion swirls around him like an enigma, begging you to find out what it was hiding. Your wave is barely more than a lift of your hand but Pierre notes it nonetheless, tipping his trophy in your direction.
You wait patiently on the sidelines as Pierre poses for pictures with his team on and off the track. His attention constantly falls on you, his grin widening each time he sees you tucked under the arm of an enthusiastic mechanic or crew member. Alpha Tauri was a family and you were an honorary member thanks to your connection to their driver.
An action packed hour of cameras passes before Pierre is able to break away. As soon as he's given the go ahead he passes his trophy off and marching to you. You're both practically running by the time you meet in the middle. You crash into him and he lifts you off your feet in a crushing hug.
"You did it," you whisper, overwhelmed by his success now that you've gotten the chance to celebrate with him. "I'm so proud of you."
Pierre laughs as he sets you on your feet. His smile is wider than you've ever seen it and you're sure his cheeks must be sore.
"Wish they allowed us to bring a friend up there," Pierre says softly, a smile melting into a sly smirk. "Seeing you doused in champagne is an image I wouldn't forget."
You shake your head, caught up in his ceaseless flirting. He had no idea that his honeyed words and gentle touches lit something inside of you, rattling your brain and making it impossible to form a coherent sentence. Instead you snatch the black and gold Pirelli cap off his head and place it on your own, earning you a peal of laughter.
"Looks better on you anyway." Pierre runs a hand through his sweaty, champagne doused hair, leaving bits sticking up at odd angles.
Someone calls Pierre's name, far enough away that there's no rush. Pierre's hands remain planted on your waist and yours stay wrapped around his neck. By the way his bright blue eyes bore into yours, you swear he's thinking the same thing you are.
"Thank you for believing in me," he murmurs, gaze falling to your lips.
"I knew it was just a matter of time," you tell him, inching up on your tiptoes. Tempted by his win, you want to ruin the best friendship you've ever had. You want to discover if the lips you spend far too much time dreaming about felt as soft as they looked. You want to know how it feels to be lost in Pierre, newly minted race winner, and find out just how he dealt with the adrenaline and euphoria of his incredible drive.
"Well done mate!"
Max Verstappen startles the two of you apart. You take a healthy step back and drop your gaze to the ground to hide your burning cheeks.
"Thanks." Pierre accepts the Dutchman's embrace and claps him on the back. "Sucks I didn't get to fight you for it."
"There will be more chances in the future. And I didn't expect to see you here, that's a nice surprise." Max knocks you with his shoulder, tipping you off balance. On instinct you latch onto Pierre's arm to steady yourself. You wait a heartbeat too long to remove your hand and both of you find anywhere to look but each other.
"So where's the party?" You ask, searching for a distraction from the way your palm still burns.
"Definitely not at Red Bull." Max shudders and you laugh because that's what you do when someone is being over dramatic. It rings hollow in your ears.
"I hear there's a few guys with adjoining rooms at the hotel who bought plenty of booze," Pierre says. "You and Dan wanna come by?"
"Is that really a question?" Max grins, already typing out a text as Pierre feeds him the details.
**********
"You should do body shots," Max suggests, which earns a roaring laugh from Daniel and a half hearted one from Pierre.
"I don't think so," Pierre says, "there's no one here I trust enough to let that happen."
"Not even your best friend?" Max gestures to you and shoots you a wink when Pierre glances over. "I think she's trustworthy."
"No thanks." Pierre holds up his plastic cup and salutes Max before draining it to the dregs.
Pierre's immediate refusal hurt more than it probably should have. You hadn't expected him to jump at the offer but having him shut the idea down so thoroughly hadn't been what you wanted either.
Max notes your pouty lower lip and speaks on your behalf. "Come on mate," Max insists. "You just won your first prix, live a little! It's not like you've got anything to lose, she's your best friend."
"That's exactly why-"
"Shut up, it would be fun! Wouldn't it?" Max says this last bit to you, a wild grin on his face.
Max expects you to turn red and object. That was his end goal. But what the Dutchman hadn't counted on was how drunk you already were on Pierre. On his smile. On his bright blue eyes, swirling in the aftermath of his unlikely triumph. And mostly on the not-so-sneaky way he glances at you every few minutes.
"Let's do it."
Pierre blinks, searching your face for any sign of distress. "Wait, are you serious?"
"Yeah, why not?" You shrug, suddenly fearing that you'd read him wrong and he really was against this whole thing. "Unless you don't want to-"
"Get the vodka," Pierre interrupts, nodding to Max though his stare remains pinned on you. Pierre latches onto your wrist and drags you around the room until he finds a table long and sturdy enough for his liking.
"This a good height for you?"
The coffee table is low enough that you'd have to kneel. Luckily getting on your knees isn't something you'd mind doing for Pierre. You lick your lips without thinking. Pierre's pupils blow wide, black swallowing the swirling oceans of blue.
"Sure," is all you manage.
"Good." Apparently neither of you were able to focus on speech. You work together to clear the empty plastic cups and used napkins from the surface. Your hands brush when you both reach for the last cup and you just catch the way Pierre's breath hitches.
You and Pierre have danced this dance since you were teenagers. Each of you knows the steps by heart. The only difference is tonight neither of you were poised to bow out before the final lift.
"Beep beep, bitches!" You yank your hand away when Max's shout reaches you. Pierre's hand lingers in front of him,  outstretched as if your palm remained grazing his thumb.
Max holds the bottle of vodka over his head as he wades through the crowd. "You're all about to be very, very entertained."
"Where's your chaperone?" You ask Max, searching for Daniel in the low lighting. You press your palm to your thigh, dissipating Pierre's lingering heat.
The Dutchman waves you off. "Went to get us more drinks. Pierre, isn't it kinda hard to do body shots if you're still fully clothed?"
"Who says I'm the one getting undressed?"
Max's grin dimples his flushed cheeks. "I mean you can ask her to take her shirt off in front of all these people if you want to."
"No," Pierre responds quickly. "Fine. I'll do it."
When Pierre strips off his shirt he gets more than a few whistles from men and women alike. That tended to happen when someone was built like a Greek fucking god, you supposed. Whoever voted for People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" and decided on Michael B. Jordan had clearly never laid eyes on Pierre, with his bronzed skin, endless expanses of muscle, and brilliant cheshire grin.
Michael B. Jordan who?
Pierre hands the team branded shirt off and lays out on the table. He pillows an arm under his head, bare bicep flexed as he gets comfortable. Leaning in to kiss along the hard muscle was out of the question, however tempting it was.
Pierre looks up expectantly. "You coming?"
Holy shit, this was actually happening.
"Yeah, I'm coming." You sink to your knees and Pierre laughs.
"Up here." He pats his thigh with his free hand and beacons you forward. "Please."
Screw it, you've already thrown your friendship out the window. This night ended either in heartbreak or awkwardness, might as well get your money's worth.
A few whoops break out above the music. The bassline isn't the only thing thundering in your chest as you straddle Pierre's thighs, hands braced on his chest.
"Okay?" Pierre whispers for your ears only. You nod with what you hope is a charming smile.
"Alright move," Max says, shooing you back until you're resting on your haunches. Max flicks the cap off the bottle and you grab it to take a long sip.
Max gapes at you and you wipe a hand over your mouth. "Close your mouth, you'll catch flies."
Pierre's thighs tense beneath you in response to your bold declaration. Dozens of Pierre's friends and team members gather around. For all you care, Pierre is the only person in the room.
"Last chance to back out," Max warns. You're too busy tracking the drop of liquid that falls from the neck of the bottle to splash onto the crease of Pierre's abs to bother responding.
"Pour it out." Pierre's chest sinks with his demand, doing nothing but sparking your imagination, creating images of him heaving beneath you. You'd sell your soul to recreate the way you're currently poised above Pierre's hips with a little less clothing and no audience.
Max gives up hope on you replying and dribbles the alcohol up Pierre's abdomen, stopping just below his pecks.
"Have at 'er-"
Your tongue is on Pierre's skin before Max has finished his sentence. You feel the muscle tense beneath your tongue, going rigid at the first contact. The burn of the vodka doesn't even register as you lap it up, catching the drips that fall over his sides.
You aren't sure either of you is breathing. Salty sweat mingles with the sharpness of the alcohol, an afterthought barely worth mentioning.
Blame the liquid courage or blame the high from Pierre's win, but you were confident Pierre was enjoying this just as much as you.
Planting a hand on Pierre's hip, you steal a glance up at him to find him locked on you. You take that as permission to continue, dragging your tongue flat up his stomach and continuing well past where the vodka had been poured. Up between his pecks, over the curve of his throat that bobs beneath your tongue, over his chin until you meet his lips, already parted and waiting.
Neither of you pay the shouts cresting around you any heed. You've both waited too long for this, endured too many almosts and what ifs to let the opportunity slip through your fingers. Your sticky hands cradle Pierre's face, angling it in a way that's to your liking so you can explore more of his mouth. He tastes like whiskey and mint, the juxtaposition of hot and cold scattering your thoughts. One of Pierre's hands finds the nape of your neck when you gasp for air, refusing to let you end the moment.
And it's pure, unending bliss that floods your veins when he nips at your lower lip, swollen and surely reddened from his kiss. His thumb sweeps across the back of your neck while you both fight to catch the breath currently evading you.
Daydreams didn't hold a candle to the real thing. One taste and you were addicted, craving as much as Pierre was willing to give.
"Hey," he murmurs, the corners of his mouth tugging up in a stupidly gorgeous smile.
"That was nice," you tease, tangling your fingers in the silky blond strands of his hair. "I wouldn't be opposed to doing it again."
"Me too. Maybe somewhere where it's just us though. I wouldn't want to scandalize my team any further." You manage to steal another sweet peck before Max hauls you off Pierre.
"Fucking finally," Daniel says, clapping when you're upright again. "Do you know how long I've been trying to orchestrate this? The two of you really are dumber than a box of rocks. I can't believe all it took was Max suggesting body shots to get you two to kiss."
The arm that wraps around your waist feels right. Pierre hasn't hugged you like this before, with his chin resting on your shoulder and his nose nuzzling your neck, but it already feels like home.
Pierre ignores Max completely in favor of pressing a kiss to the shell of your ear. "Why don't we go back to my room? I'll pour more alcohol on myself if that's what it takes to convince you."
You're just about to take him up on the offer when one of his team members taps his shoulder. He glances at them impatiently, which the man thankfully doesn't take personally.
"They want some photos with you holding your trophy," he explains, handing a shirt and the star shaped interpretation of the Italian flag to Pierre. "It will only take a few minutes,  they promised not to keep you long."
Of course everyone knew exactly where your minds were. Sanity had long since left the premises, tangled up in crisp white sheets. Pierre's entire team and half the Red Bull garage had seen what had gone down while the prix winner was sprawled on that coffee table. There would be no chance of denying it in the morning.
And while you'd never imagined that the first time you'd kiss your best friend would be directly preceded by licking copious amounts of shitty liquor off his super-heated skin, now that you'd experienced it any other way seems forgettable.
Pierre sighs and runs a hand through his hair. "I mean, I already have my trophy, but…" your stomach lurches when you realize he means you. Pierre catches the way your mouth hangs open and he shoots you a grin before accepting the real trophy.
"You carry it," he says, not giving you much of a choice as he thrusts it into your hands. "I'm occupied."
You're about to point out that his hands are, in fact, free and that the more likely reason for insisting you carry the trophy was his usual post-race laziness when he slings an arm around your shoulders and tucks you tight to his side.
"Is this okay?" Pierre asks when you involuntarily stiffen. God, it was more than okay, it was perfect, it had just caught you by surprise. You'd only kissed him a handful of minutes ago and Pierre was already wrapped around your finger, smitten as if you'd been a couple for years.
"Yeah no, it's perfect. Simply lovely," you say quickly, stumbling over your words.
"Can I kiss you again?"
Your answer comes in the form of a hand on his chest, stopping him in his tracks. You prop the trophy on your hip and smile up at your race winner.
"You don't have to ask that ever again. My answer is always yes."
Clem's Tour Commentary: Portland 2 (y/n edition aka my show)
(Reading my Vancouver recap is highly suggested to contextualize my comments about this show)
OK so most of you have heard about the Portland Night 2 by now - how could you not??? It was the tour's most insane show and words fail to describe how Louis and his bandmates pulled surprises after surprises. I am sooooo glad I got to experience this in person, and let me tell you it was a wild night.
Recap of my experience under the cut! :)
Pre-Show
I wasn't even over the Vancouver show that I was on my way to Portland, OR. Because of COVID requirements and border crossing, I spent most of my day in public transit, at the airport, in a plane, etc. I was tired (running on 6 hours of sleep I believe). Ah yes, it didn't help that the first thing I did in the morning was a self-administered antigen test and I almost fainted/puked/cried AT THE SAME TIME while inserting the swab in my nose and it took me 5 min to stop coughing and tearing up. Nice way to start a day!
I was in My Feelings™️ all day... Tired, thinking about the show of the night before, which I've said was very intense emotionally, stressed about going to another country, travelling for the first time abroad in a while, travelling by myself for the first time in a while...
I had booked tickets for Portland because it was a standing venue (unlike Vancouver) and one of the smallest of the tour. But suddenly I was stressed about being in the pit (especially because how hot it was in Vancouver, in a seated venue). I sadly hadn't found anyone to take my extra ticket and was a bit anxious at the idea of going alone - though I thought that was one of the advantage of the pit. Portland wasn't as I imagined it would be, which didn't help. The venue was in a part of town that didn't look safe.
All to say, I was having a hard time getting myself hyped for the show. (special shout out to @awayfrmhome for cheering me up during the evening <3). But there was no way I was going to miss this show - I was there, Louis was there, I was going to have a good time no matter what. And boy did the night deliver!!!
The Show
I rolled up at the venue around 9pm, there was no line (duh), passed security (who took away my snacks :(). Chatted a bit with the security guy about fans who had camped. I said it didn't exactly look safe and he told me indeed, it wasn't but not only that, there are sadly people who have to resort to living in tents in the area so having fans do it "for fun" wasn't a good look. Took my tickets from the box office (so i have a physical memory of the show, like the good ol' days!) and walked into the room. It was FULL and loud and hot. Sun Room was done playing but Louis wasn't on stage.
Fortunately I was able to access the balcony, which had seats. The balcony was 21+, so some people who had bought seated tickets without knowing that had to go downstairs, which left seats empty. I also think that the show wasn't at full capacity, because of the venue's stupid will call tickets (which made reselling tickets virtually impossible). Anyways I hanged out a bit and finally took a spot in the stairs (between seats), in the last row, right in the middle of the stage. I had a great view, and lots of room to move around.
Louis was late, which was terrible for me, because I was just standing around waiting. Sadly I don't have a data plan in the US so I couldn't even be on tumblr/ message some mutuals. Also, some people (cough cough) had told me that I didn't need to carry cash in the US but that was a BIG LIE because the bar was CASH ONLY and so my plan to enjoy a little drink or two went out the window. Which wasn't so bad because I thought I could really take in the night from an analytical perspective. As I've said, I was so focused on me during the Vancouver show that I didn't realize most of what was happening. I thought this would be the occasion to look around, to see fans, etc. Oh yeah, the worst part about Louis being late is that they did play Smells Like Teen Spirit around 9, which got us all hyped up... for nothing. Then 15 minutes went by and I started panicking, thinking something had gone wrong and anytime someone would come up on stage to tell us the show couldn't go ahead and I would just cry. Boy was I wrong! (Thank God!)
It's Showtime! (For Real!)
The show started and I soon as Isaac and Zak walked on the stage wearing costumes (and a weird hairdo for Isaac) I thought... what the hell is this??!?! And then Louis SHOWED UP WEARING SHORTS???? That was the sign that the night was going to be special... how special?! No one could have predicted.
At this point you all know how stuff went down... JD showed up to spray deodorant on Matt, which was a very confusing moment because I didn't understand what Matt had say. Steve did a handstand out of the blue. At some point Louis ordered Matt to do some push-ups, and we all counted to 15 with him, then later he did a plank (and Steve too, but I didn't see). His guitar almost fell on the ground and you could see the guitar tech's life pass in front of his eyes as he lunged to catch it. Michael was... quiet(er)! but awesome as always and at some point he had his guitar near his face and I thought he was playing with his teeth???? But no, he was just holding it up (playing with his fingers still)... What a God. Michael really shines during his solos and he LOVES the attention of the crowd, out there spreading his legs with his (deserved) BDE. I may or may not have physically felt things looking at him. Ah yeah I forget... Matt was making himself a bowl of cereal on stage??? Joshua was trying to navigate the chaos of the stage without hit by the guys who were jumping and running around. Poor guy!
And the end... what was that?? Someone showed up playing maracas besides Zak and I thought "is that Oli?????" but then told myself it couldn't possibly be OLI on STAGE?? playing maracas??? BUT IT WAS. And then there was a whole party and it was pure chaos and I didn't know what was my life anymore!!! I didn't see Louis leave, I just remember thinking he would do his famous mic drop, but he didn't... I didn't catch him leaving the stage but that didn't matter because the guys stayed and kept playing???? And honestly I'm sorry for this image, it literally felt like having a second orgasm when you're still riding the high of the first one????? IT WAS INSANE. They didn't want the night to end, and tbh I understand why, neither did I. I literally turned to the girl beside me and said "what the fuck was THAT?!?!?"
Random Thoughts
Louis interacted with the crowd A LOT, especially the right and left sides of the balcony. It's very cute how he doesn't want fans to be left out. I will say though that he wasn't looking so much at the middle of the balcony (so cruel). He was pointing at signs all the time, having the time of his life. Honestly he spent the whole night smiling like an idiot and giggling.
One thing that Louis and me had in common is that we seemed to blank on the setlist. I literally forgot Louis' discography and the order of the songs and I had no idea where we were in the show. Don't ask my why. Louis, on the other hand, was looking at the setlist all the time, so I thought he was also a bit confused, but that's because there was so much more banter between songs that I figured he lost track. Then when I saw the setlist, I understood that he was looking at his notes for the planned shenanigans!!!
Confession... The crowd was SO GOOD that I didn't boycott Habit and they got me singing along.... Habit Redemption??? Ok, I still didn't sing that line but... I realized it's actually quite catchy live???? Somebody call the doctor I think I'm delusional.
7 wasn't as good as in Vancouver, because I wasn't going as hard. But it was still a special moment, during which I reflected on Louis' future sound and how much rock his future shows will be (can't wait!!). I know I'm being greedy but I'm already thinking about LTWT 2023.
Damn, Copy is SO good live!!!
Beautiful War was SO emotional. Here's a video from someone sitting not so far from me (who I recognized from Twitter - fandom is weird!). Again, I'm pretty sure you can hear me scream. Oups. But you can see how I had a great view. Louis was actually closer than where I was sitting in Vancouver even if I had an orchestra seat.
Louis' waist in that SHIRT???? Boy was a snack, a whole meal. Can't believe he there in front of me with his little shorts and his little socks.
I wasn't as excited and loud as the night before, because I felt a bit shy, but I had a great time anyways. Had a lot of fun looking around and judging fans (lol). There were a lot of people with their parents (or parents by themselves) in the balcony. Some had bags FULL of merch. I talked to two other girls who were alone. One came up during the break and was waiting for OTB. The other girl was vibing by my side the whole time. We all talked during the break and one asked if I had seen another show but before I could respond I understood that the question was have you seen Harry's show and I was like.... no. Anyways, it's heartwarming to see fans who are comfortable to go to shows alone, it shows that they know they will be welcomed by other fans and that Louis is definitely worth it - nothing can prevent us from experiencing his concerts!
I was wearing a short sleeves t-shirt, but it was actually cold on the balcony... Take note if you're doing balcony seats!
I choose not to stay afterwards to see Louis in the bus, instead running back to the hotel to text the girlies a big "WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT" and try to make sense of what I had just lived. Which I couldn't. (Glad I didn't wait after, since Louis barely interacted with the fan when he left the venue... at ONE AM local time...God to be backstage after that show....)
See @seasurfacefullofclouds1's highlights of the show here.
My y/n moments
With Louis
So there where two girls sitting in front of me. It was obvious that one was a big fan (very excited) and the other was the kind, accompanying friend (often sitting down). While they were not front row, I think the people in front of them were seating down so they were right in Louis' sight. Around the end of the first part, the fan kept flipping him off with both hands, which was SO annoying. She just put her hands up all the time. I rolled my eyes SO hard. But... it worked! At some point Louis saw her and flipped her back, and she immediately squealed, jumped and made a heart with her hands. It was so cute to see. Her friend was like OMG!!!! afterwards. Anyways, I was right behind them, in between the both of them so safe to say I was also in sight. I'm so dumb tho that I didn't do anything, I just stood there but that's because that wasn't MY moment, mine will be way more epic stay tuned it's happening tomorrow I can feel it.
While we're on the subject, yeah it's easy to say "Louis looked at me" because he looks at EVERYONE. He really interacts with a lot of people.
With Matt Vines <3
Who was - again - standing not too far from me?! My bestie Matt (sadly the wrong one). He was standing in the back by my right, with someone else. He was in and out. I looked at him a few times, so much that I had to tell the girl on my right that I wasn't starring at her. In my mind Matt recognized me because only my shirt was different and I wear a very fashionable sports cross-body bad (a banana bag if you will) and how many Louies have this taste in fashion? Not a lot, I can tell you. Anyways. This is my y/n fantasy so let me have this.
Conclusion
Once again, the show is a blur in my mind, but for very different reasons - it was just SO CHAOTIC that it was just too much to compute. I'm so thankful for all the videos and pics we got from barricade fans to help me remember (or see for the first time) things that happened. There was SO much going on, and that's on top of the ACTUAL show (the songs!!!).
The crowd was SO loud, for the 1D songs especially but also very much for his solo songs. Louis said at some point that this was one of the smallest venues but we were such an amazing crowd and honestly, he didn't lie! I'm so glad he complimented us! When I left I wondered how @stelloulas would rank this show and if we'd be #1 and we did!!!
I'm glad I got to experience two shows. From the start they were going to be different experiences because of the venues, but knowing I had the chance to be at THE Portland show... wow.. I feel so lucky! Never would I have imagined the night would take a turn like this...
In Vancouver it was a high of emotion because I was seeing Louis for the first time. As I said, the show was very much about my experience - about hearing Louis, about singing the songs I've been obsessing about for so long with him. In Portland it was a high because of... *gestures wildly*. I was a bit more detached, looking around, taking it all in, noticing how he interacted with the fans. It was a show about Louis and his band and his connection to the crowd, which I was a part of. But it was a collective madness. And the parts that I will remember are the stage antics, it's almost as if the songs were secondary to what happened. So I'm glad that I could have my moment singing with Louis in Vancouver.
I'm very much looking forward to my third (and final) show. Is it going to be even more crazy than Portland? Or will it be a mix of both shows? We'll see :) And you'll get another long recap about it! :D
TLDR: If you've seen some of the footage of the Portland show and thought, damn, that was crazy, I can assure you IT WAS!!! Unbelievable.
airport love confession w steve for drabbles?? like reader is about to get on a plane and leave and steve is racing through the airport to get to her in time and tell her how he feels🥺
Wherever You Stray
yesyesyes STEVE!!!!! 🥺
》* 。 • ˚ ˚ ˛ ˚ ˛ • 。* 。° 。* 。 • ˚《
You could see why all the poems of unrequited love wrote it so painfully. Why they had described it as hearts being torn from chests and air being pulled from your lungs.
Steve Rogers had taken a piece of your heart and you couldn’t bare to watch him take it all the way back to the 1940s with him. Back to her.
You swallow thickly at the thought. When Steve had mentioned seeing Peggy when he and Tony had ended up on that army base, it was like you physically saw him slip through your fingertips.
It was your fault though, wasn’t it? Falling in love with Steve when half the population had been wiped away and the only thought anybody had was finding a new normal. Falling in love with him and never telling him, never explaining how his voice was your calm and his presence made your panic subside.
Would it have changed anything though? You think as you stare at the airport gate. Airports were crowded these days, families trying to find their way home and people trying to find their loved ones again. No. You know it wouldn’t have.
Steve had loved one woman in all his life and they had created a way to bring him back to her. A way to give him the life he desperately craved.
You wipe away the stray tear that’s fallen in the midst of your consuming of these thoughts. Your phone has texts from Sam, Bruce and even Clint, all urging you to tell him.
You wonder what they had told Steve about your absence. If they had told him the truth or if they had made up a pretty lie that calmed his nerves about one of his best friends disappearing before he went back in time.
“Now boarding fight 579 to San Diego.” A voice calls over the speaker. You take a deep breath as you stand. A fresh start sounded nice. The beach and palm trees seemed like the perfect place.
As you fall in line behind most of the other passengers you begin to wonder Steve had ever felt anything for you. If he hadn’t been forced to that army base if he would have stayed.
“Hey!” You ignore the voice, assuming it’s for another passenger as you wallow in your thoughts. “Excuse me. Sorry. I’m not cutting you, I’m trying to-“
“-Is that Captain America?” A voice calls out and your head snaps up to investigate it.
Steve is hastily pushing through the crowd of passengers. Steve in his ridiculous time travel outfit and still the same young Steve you had seen that morning.
“Just Steve Rogers.” He answers politely. His height gives him an advantage as he freezes in the middle of the crowd and his eyes scan in search of you.
You can only stare with wide eyes until the woman behind you shoves your shoulder lightly and you’re forced to move forward. “Go!” She groans.
You move forward on autopilot, completely baffled by Steve’s appearance and unable to do anything but follow the line. You can feel when Steve’s eyes land on you. His intense stare burning through your head as you continue to move up in line.
Three people in front of you. You glance over your shoulder and find Steve pushing through the crowd again.
Two people in front of you. His eyes are determined and don’t move from you. You feel heat on your cheeks and the back of your neck as he stares.
One person. Steve is only a few feet away. He smiles at kids who stare up in awe and politely nods in greeting to the people calling out Captain America.
“Ma’am?” Your head snaps to look at the woman in front of you. She’s wearing a confused smile as she waits for you to step forward. “Your ticket?”
A hand wraps around your wrist and pulls you off of the line. Your eyes move from his chest to his face and you can only stare with your mouth agape.
“What the hell are you doing?” He asks completely exasperated.
“What… What are you doing here?” They’re the only words you can get out as you stare at him absolutely perplexed.
He was supposed to be getting that dance with Peggy Carter. Why was he standing in the middle of JFK with you?
“Why are you leaving?” He asks softly. “I… You weren’t there when we all met at the time machine.”What a ridiculous name, you think. Time machine seemed far too simple for what Tony had created.
“I… Why are you here?” You ask again. “I thought you were going back in time.”
Steve furrows his eyebrows at you. Your fingers twitch, wanting to reach up and smooth out the lines on his forehead like you had for so many years when it was just you and him. You try to force back your tears.
“I did.” He says slowly. “To put the stones back. I went looking for you afterwards and Bucky said you were on a plane. What the hell? Why would leave without a goodbye?” You open your mouth and he shakes his head. “Why would you leave?”
You lick your lips nervously. “Last boarding call for flight 579 to San Diego, California.” You turn to look at the now almost empty gate. There were only a few more people left in line to board. “Steve that’s my-“
“-Why are you leaving?” He asks again. His voice is firmer this time. “I…” He trails off.
You shake your head. “You said… I thought you were staying with Peggy.” You whisper. Your head is spinning and you’re unable to connect the dots. Why was Steve here? Why had he chased after you?
“Staying with…” His hands come up to cup your cheeks. “Why would I stay with Peggy?”
You pull one of his hands away from your face and narrow your eyes. “You said… You said you saw her when you and Tony were on that base. That you saw her and you finally realized what you had to do.”
Steve’s shaking his head before you even finish. There’s a smile on his face that you can’t return because he’s leaning in and kissing you.
Steve is kissing you. Steve is… Your eyes widen before they close and you’re kissing him back. Your hands come up to rest on his chest and one of his grips your hip.
When he pulls away he doesn’t go far. Close enough he can speak in a whisper. “It made me realize I’ve moved on. That I have a life here. With Sam. Bucky. You.” He emphasizes. “A life with you where instead of dancing you take me to movies in the park and show me how to use IPhones.”
“You know how to use your phone.” You shake your head with a short laugh. “What are you saying?” You think you know by now, the confused fog clearing from your head, but you’d like to hear the words.
“I love you.” He smiles. “Not Peggy. She had her life. She lived it. She told me to live mine and I want to. With you.”
“With me?” You ask a little breathlessly. Steve nods and a smile breaks out on your face. “I love you too.”
Steve lets out a sigh of relief that makes you giggle. “No California?” He glances up at the now closed door. Boarding for the flight finishing while you were busy swapping I love yous.
You nod. “Not unless we’re going together.”
“I could use a vacation.” Steve slips your bag from your shoulder and move it onto his. When he wraps an arm around your shoulder, you return it with one around his waist and he begins to guide you towards the exit. “Especially one with my favorite person.”
For Day 29 of Rowaelin Month
“A song fic-“
The song- “Always Been You” by Quinn XCII
CW- Mentions of miscarriage and divorce
"I can't believe you right now."
Rowan looks at his wife in frustration. She's sitting at the end of their bed, staring listlessly at the wall. The skirt of the red dress she's wearing is wrinkled, and his heart aches when he notices the mascara marks on her cheeks.
"Aelin," Rowan tries again to reach for her, but she leans away from his grasp.
"No, Rowan. I'm done."
Rowan takes a long swing from the beer in front of him. The time on his phone alerts him that he's spent most of the evening sulking at his bar.
The guys had invited him to dinner, but Rowan hadn't felt like going in light of his current situation. Instead, choosing to meander to the shady little pub they'd passed by coming from the airport.
His lawyer had sent him numerous emails. Documents to sign, agreements to approve, and papers he needed to read through before sending them to the judge.
Divorce was a pain, and Aelin wasn't making it easy.
"Hey, bud. I thought I might find you here." Fenrys slides onto the barstool next to his.
Rowan sighs and rubs the lines forming on his forehead. "Well, I thought it was obvious I didn't want company."
"Too bad. Drinking alone isn't a good look on you." Fenrys raises a hand and motions for another round of beers. "How are things going with ya know?"
"Shitty. She's never paid a dime of rent on that apartment, but she wants the lease signed into her name and for me to front the first four months of rent." Rowan cracks a peanut between his finger. He has no intent to eat the growing pile in front of him. He just craved the satisfaction of breaking something.
"Well, have you talked to her about that?" Fenrys frowns in sympathy, knowing how equally attached both parties were to the little rental.
Rowan laughs mirthlessly. "No, she said that it was better if our conversations were mediated. I always knew Aelin was catty, but she's acting like such a-"
"Don't." Fenrys gives Rowan a severe look. "I know you are upset, but don't start saying shit you'll regret."
Rowan pauses and reluctantly nods his agreement. It's the alcohol talking. He knew the problems that had festered his marriage were predominantly his responsibility.
He takes a deep breath, but a heaviness seems to keep the air from reaching his lungs fully. The weight was slowly becoming too familiar, starting the day Aelin had presented him with the papers.
Rowan wishes he'd done more. Wishes he'd paid more attention and seen the signs of Aelin's unhappiness.
The day Aelin had broken down in their bedroom had been a cold wake-up call but by then? It was already too late.
"You missed our anniversary Rowan." Aelin shouts and pulls her heels off angrily.
Rowan picks up a shoe and tries to hand it back to her. "I know. I'm sorry. It's not too late, though. We can still go out? There's still time to salvage-"
Aelin turns away from him and seems to fold in on herself. Rowan wants to reach out. He wants to hold her, but something dark is building in the air.
"I don't want your leftovers, Rowan," Aelin whispers. "That's all I get anymore—your leftover time. Your leftover attention. Whatever leftover resentment you bring home from work."
"Aelin-" he tries to cut off her depressive spiral, but she's not finished.
"You used to call me during the day." Aelin's voice cracks, and he realizes she's crying. "Every day, you would call me on your break. Now you don't even call when you leave town."
"Baby, just listen to me." He puts his hands on her shoulders, but Aelin breaks his grasp to turn around and look at him.
"Is there someone else?" Her eyes are wide and vulnerable. So unlike his regular Aelin."
"What?" His brain is struggling even to formulate a reply. Rowan's lack of response only causes Aelin to worry more.
Something in her cracks. There's a quiver to her lips, and her face drains of color. "Oh. Oh no."
"Aelin. I swear there is no one else." Rowan finally says, but it's too late.
"Is," Aelin presses the heels of her hands against her eyes. "Is it because I lost the baby?" She sucks in a hiccupping breath. "You've always wanted kids. So did I, but my fucking body doesn't work."
Aelin closes her eyes, and Rowan knows she's speaking more to herself than him, but her words gut him just the same. "My body doesn't work right. I keep giving us false hopes and wasting money on pregnancy tests. Of course, you would look for a woman who can give you what you want."
He's surprised by the sudden flare of anger in him. "Don't put words in my mouth. That will never be your fault."
They'd known right from the start their journey to parenthood would be a long one. Aelin had a family history of complicated fertility. It had seemed so trivial when they got married. Yet even knowing there could be issues, nothing quite prepared them for the pain of a miscarriage.
Aelin sniffles, unable to force back her grief, "But you resent me. Don't you?"
Rowan doesn't reply.
"It's rough," Rowan admits out loud. "I let a lot get left unsaid. I was hurt and pushed her away. Now she won't even speak to me without a lawyer present."
Fenrys nods, "It's all probably for the best. Once this is over, you guys can put this drama behind you."
"I wish it were that easy," Rowan knocks back the rest of his beer. He grimaces at the drink. It's not taking hold quickly enough.
Fenrys raises an eyebrow. "You both will be able to shut the book on this chapter of your lives and move on? Considering how bloody you two have been fighting, it sounds ideal."
They sit in silence. Fenrys takes the peanut basket away from Rowan and picks at the shells. The bartender comes by, and disgruntledly eyes Rowan's pile of crumbs as he orders a whiskey neat.
Fen was like his little brother, but Rowan found it hard to admit his real problem to him aloud. "I still love her."
The basket goes flying over the side of the counter, and Fenrys chokes on his beer. "What?"
Rowan can't look him in the eye, "We lost a baby. It was early. Aelin didn't want to tell everyone. Three years we tried to get pregnant, and finally, a test comes back positive. She was so happy."
"Shit," Fenrys says quietly. "I'm so sorry."
"It was there, and then it was gone. I thought Aelin was fine. She cried for a week, but then it was like a switch flipped, and she was back to normal." Rowan clenches a napkin in his fist. "I was devastated. It hurt like hell, but I didn't want to send her back into a depression." Rowan shakes his head at how stupid he'd been. "So I put some distance between us. I didn't want her to think I was upset with her."
"I didn't feel better," Rowan sips the whiskey, relishing the warmth. "It made me mad that she got over it so quickly, and I couldn't. I didn't realize that I was growing that space between us. I didn't understand how much guilt she harbored and that she tried to be strong for me. Not until she broke."
"We fought. I said all the wrong things. Aelin couldn't take it anymore, she left, and I didn't stop her." Rowan leans his head on his hands and elbows against the counter. "She's the love of my life, and I watched her walk out the door."
Fenrys sucks in a breath and sighs. "You are my best friend, and I mean this in the most loving way possible. Why the hell are you here?"
"What?" Rowan looks at Fenrys annoyed face.
"Get out of here. Go. I'll tell the boss you have ebola or some shit." Fenrys fishes his wallet out and throws cash on the bar. "I'll even cover the tab. Just leave. Now."
"What? I don't understand?"
Fenrys looks at Rowan like he's stupid. "No offense, but you are about as interesting as a brick wall. The fact you caught a girl like Aelin is astonishing. If you love her, are you honestly going to let her go on being miserable?"
"She's not miserable," Rowan scoffs.
Fenrys laughs bitterly. "You forget I'm pals with Aedion too? Aelin winds up at his house almost every evening crying her eyes out. You two are still hopelessly in love. You're just dumb and badly in need of a good conversation."
"Aelin is upset?" A sense of disbelief washes over him.
"Yes! She misses you, but she's under the impression you are off sleeping around." His face saddens. "I told Aedion you weren't. He knows I go on all of these trips with you. Aelin's just upset you're gone and needs to believe in something that can help her let go."
Rowan stands up, swaying. "I have to go."
"Hell yeah, you do. Give Aelin my love," Fenrys waves as Rowan vates the bar like a hawk out of hell.
Aelin sets the stack of papers in front of him.
Rowan had been camping out in his office ever since there disaster of an anniversary. He'd texted a few times, but every time they talked, it was like relighting a fuze. Things weren't getting better.
"What are these?" Rowan asks without looking up from his screen.
"Your ticket to freedom," Aelin sits in the chair across from him.
She looks thin, thinner than she did when Arobynn was her foster father. It physically hurts Rowan that he's causing her that kind of stress. Glancing at the papers, she slapped in front of him. His blood becomes like an ice river through his body. "Aelin-"
"I'm not the one for you. That's apparent now. I won't hold you hostage in a marriage that you aren't happy in." Aelin blinks, and a tear slides down her face. He wants to wipe it away, but he's beyond angry. She was giving up on them.
"If this is what you want," Rowan slides the papers towards him and pulls out a pen.
Rowan is racing the familiar paths to their apartment. He doesn't care that it's almost four in the morning. The plane ride between Perranth and Ornyth is mercifully short, but he can't force himself to wait another minute.
"Aelin," he yells through their door. "Baby, answer me. Open the door."
Rowan's fists tap a consistent rhythm on the door, and his heart skips a beat when a bedraggled Aelin finally appears. "Rowan, do you know what time it is?"
She's in a pair of grey flannel pajamas, not one of her usual silky numbers. Aelin's eyes are red around the edges, and her face is still dewy from the excessive amount of lotion he knows she loves to put on. Rowan knows all of her routines. All of her favorite outfits, comfort movies, and best memories. He knows the scar she has on her left hand from an abusive foster father. Rowan remembers how the bridge of her nose wrinkles when she's upset in the same spot her cousin's does.
He knows everything about her, because not only were they husband and wife, they were best friends.
How could he have let that go?
Before Aelin can ask any more questions, Rowan has swept her into his arms. "I missed you so damn much."
"Rowan, have you been drinking?" Aelin asks in a voice cracked with emotion.
His hands are running up her back, and his knows burrows into her hair. He's always loved the smell of her jasmine shampoo. "Fireheart, I never resented you for losing the baby."
"Rowan, I don't want to talk about this," Aelin tries to push him away, but he squeezes her into his chest, and she melts.
That had been his mistake. He should have held Aelik like this and never let her go on pretending to be happy. How could he know everything about this woman and not have seen past her facade? She'd suffered. His own pain had blinded him.
"Aelin, I've made so many mistakes lately." Rowan rubs the back of Aelin's neck the way she likes, and he can feel the sobs starting to build up inside of her. "But the greatest shame of my life is not being there for you when you needed me. I was stupid, Fireheart. I'm not going to be stupid any longer. This separation can't go on, we aren't any happier for it, and I can't live knowing I'm away from the other half of my soul."
Aelin cracks, and he can feel the tears wetting the front of his shoulder. "You were never home. I thought there was someone else, someone who could give you the things you wanted because I can't."
Her whole form is shuddering his arms, and Rowan squeezes tighter as if he can hold her broken pieces together. "It's always been you. I don't care if we adopt or never have any kids at all. All I need is you, baby. You are all I've ever needed."
Suddenly, hands are in Rowan's hair as Aelin crushes their lips together. The kiss is frantic, a relief of the stress they'd carried upon their shoulders.
"I missed you too," Aelin whispers in between kisses. “Gods I mussed you so much.”
The rest of their night is filled with soothing words, frantic kissing, and murmured apologies. Rowan kisses the tears from her cheeks and Aelin looks into his eyes like she’s home. Nail dig into skin as they promise never to be apart again.
For the first time in months they sleep in the same bed. Rowan sinks into a deep restful sleep with his wife in his arms once more. He loves the way her cold toes search out his heat. How Aelin fits so perfectly against his chest. When he wakes up and she’s still there, his heart nearly features from relief.
After months of pain, it's the beginning of their walk towards healing.
The days after aren't perfect. They had legal issues to sort back out, more problems to lay bare to the sunlight. There was arguing, but it lacked actual heat, and they didn't walk away feeling unloved at the end. No longer did they fight to land barbs. Their bickering now served to work towards solutions and to express needs.
Between struggles, the love began to grow back. Rowan kept his job at work, and when he was home, it was about them. He started calling her on his breaks again, and it always astonished him how much he missed the sound of her voice. They both strived to communicate their feelings better and actually listen instead of reacting.
Aelin surprised him with romantic dates, and Rowan read pages of her favorite books to her at night. They danced in the kitchen and laughed at their favorite shows.
Fixing their marriage was hard work, but Rowan and Aelin didn't mind. The separation proved that neither of them wanted a life without the other. It was to whatever end, and they wouldn't accept anything less for them.
On one Sunday morning, Rowan opens his eyes and realizes that Aelin isn't on her side of the bed. Panic surges in him, and he looks around to make sure her things are still there.
They are, and the tension eases from his shoulders until he hears soft crying from the bathroom. Darting out of bed, he grabs Aelin's bathrobe and knocks on their bathroom door. "Aelin, what's wrong?"
Had he screwed something up? Was she sick?
The lock clicks, granting him silent permission for him to come inside. Rowan pushes the door open and finds Aelin crying on the side of the tup. With gentle hands, he wraps her robe around her and throws an arm over her shoulders. "What's wrong?"
Aelin looks up at him, a radiant smile on her face. "Look."
Rowan glances down to her clenched fists and-
He blinks, once, twice. Aelin laughs at his dumbfounded face, and it breaks his paralysis. Rowan grabs her around the waist and spins her around the cramped bathroom, the positive pregnancy test clattering to the floor.
Aelin's arms wrap around his neck. The emotion in the room is raw and bittersweet, but there's a hopefulness that can't be denied. Rowan holds her tight as they process the news. When they break apart, the love between them is palpable. They had another shot at this, a fresh start.
Hards times would come and go, but good days were never far behind for them. Because for Aelin and Rowan, it's always been them.
And that's all they needed.
Some Domestic Drarry fluff please?
The phone rang once, twice, three times, making Draco roll his eyes as he pulled it out of his front pocket. “Sugar Baby” flashed on the screen before he slid it open. “This better be good, Potter. I’ve just stepped off the plane.”
The voice at the other end sounded groggy in response. “What fucking time is it?”
“For me or for you?”
Silence, as if a pause in deliberation. “Both, I guess.”
“It’s 2:30 in England right now. And it’s 10:30 here in Taiwan.”
“Why am I awake so early?”
Draco laughed. “You set an alarm for when my flight landed so you could make sure I was alive”
“Ugh,” Draco can hear him roll over in their bed. “I hate myself. Why would I do that. I must like you or something.”
“I would hope so,” he replied, holding up his left hand to the light, studying the silver-white band on his ring finger. “You did ask me to marry you, after all.”
“Gross. I don’t even like marriage. Why would you let me do that?”
“The only way to stop you from asking was if I physically pushed you over. So, that wasn’t an option.” Draco murmured, walking over to baggage claim and watching as the different suitcases began revolving around on the conveyer belt. “What’s done is done, however. And I did say yes. So you’re stuck with me.”
Harry sighed, most likely sitting up in bed and flicking the lamp on, if Draco heard correctly. He could imagine him running his hand through his hair a few times and rubbing at his eyes. “I guess being stuck with you isn’t the worst thing in the world.”
“Wow, what a relief.”
A soft laugh came from across the line and across the ocean and Draco felt a pang in his chest, imagining his fiance alone in their bed for the next two weeks. He hated when work took him so far away and Harry couldn’t join him. But, Harry had courses starting and Draco had business to attend to. “I miss you already,” Harry said, voice wistful.
“I miss you too.”
“Let’s never be separated again, yeah?”
Draco smiled and rolled his eyes. “Well, when I quite my job and you stop teaching uni students, then we can talk.”
“Ugh,” Harry groaned. “I don’t like that. Money is dumb. i just want you in my bed.”
“Our bed, you bastard.” Draco chided.
“With that bitchy little mouth of yours all over me.”
“Save your horniness for when I get home. And don’t do anything rash until I come back, okay?”
“Like driving myself off a cliff?”
“Or putting bleach in your tea.”
“Or maybe getting on a plane and flying to Taiwan to see you in person.”
“Yeah, definitely don’t do that.” Draco said sternly, though his smile had grown inexplicably throughout the conversation. “You should go back to bed, darling. Text me when you wake up again?”
“Yes sir,” was his groggy reply. “I love you.”
“I know.”
“Say it back.”
“No.”
“Draco!”
“You’re being childish.”
“I’m pulling up plane tickets right now. Here we gooo,”
“Potter.”
“Say it back.”
“I love you too, you moron.”
He could practically see the victorious smile on Harry’s face. “Yay! Goodnight, love.”
“Good morning, darling.”
He pressed the end button, his mood much lighter, and grabbed at his luggage before walking out into the Taiwan heat to find his cab.
Favorite Shirt
Okay time to post again. Slight warnings, mention of death, toxic relationship, slight emotional abuse.
Word count ~2.9k
"Tch, I guess it’s about time I clean my desk. I can't work with all of this crap on it." Jotaro annoyedly says.
While cleaning off the countless stacks of paper he pauses. All desire to clean is quickly knocked out of him. He sits back down in his desk chair holding the group picture you all took in Egypt. He glances over each face in the image, some happy memories, some not so much. He would give anything to go back in time to change the way things played out. So many stupid mistakes. His eyes immediately halt when he gets to yours. His face expressed sorrow and longing.
His favorite memories of the two of you start to come rushing back to his head, and for a moment, he smiles. The constant flirting that always occured between the two of you. The silent stares you each felt from one another. No matter how much the others teased you two, you still weren't sure if admitting your feelings was the best idea. You each had your own reasons for keeping distant. The mission was much more important anyway, and so was your friendship.
He recalls one of his favorite memories with you.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It had been a long week of tiresome stand battles, the closer you got to Egypt, the more intense they became. He noticed this was taking quite the toll on you and made the gang find a hotel that night so you could get some much needed rest. In the meantime he suggested that you use him as a pillow in the car on the way there.
Honestly, you took him up on the offer. You took everything you could at the time knowing that it would never go any further no matter how bad you wanted it to. Your head rested on his large chest, which was surprisingly soft for how tough he was. Every now and then he'd tug on his hat to cover his face when in fact he was just trying to steal a few glances at your peaceful, resting figure.
"Alright, we're here, group up and we'll get going into our rooms," Joseph states.
"I ca-"
"She's staying with me. There's no discussing it." Jotaro then picks you up and carries you to your room.
You started to wake up from the movements and the background noise going on in the hotel, and the first thing you saw was Jotaro's face when you opened your
eyes.
"Clearly I must be dreaming," you thought.
"Look who decided to wake up." he scoffed at you. "Really left it up to me to carry you all the way up here."
"I'm so sorry! I won't let it-"
"That's enough. I was just kidding anyway. You fought really hard today, it's the least I could do."
You smiled back at him as he set you down on the bed. That was honestly all the thanks he needed.
"Anyway, I'm going to go get something to eat, I'll bring something back for you if you want, but you should probably get some real rest soon."
You began to crawl up into the bed in your dirty and torn clothes from the day you just had.
"Good grief, what do you think you're doing? You're really going to sleep in a nice clean bed in your dirty clothes??"
"Well, I don't really have any clean clothes left right now, so, unless you have a better ide-"
You were quickly cut off with a soft hit to the face. Jotaro threw one of his clean shirts at you.
"Here. You can use this. It'll be more comfortable anyway."
Jotaro had left to go pick up some food and when he came back he was greeted with his favorite shirt filled with his favorite person. Wearing only that shirt made you look much smaller than you actually were, it practically went down to your knees.
"Thanks Jotaro! I promise I'll get it back to you as soon as I can."
"Keep it. It looks better on you anyway." He cooly tried to say as he pulled his hat down over his eyes.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After everything that had happened in Egypt, you just wanted to get away from it all for a while. Go out on your own to a new place with no reminder of the loved ones you lost and all the feelings you never acted on. As a thank you for your hard work, the SpeedWagon Foundation offered to pay for everything of whatever you decided to do. You thought maybe you'd try going to school in America for a while. It was great, you had all the experiences you grew up seeing in movies and on TV. You made plenty of new friends there and even dipped your toes in the dating pool.
Right after you finished school, you and your boyfriend got married. You thought that's what you ought to do, you've been with him for so long. Everyone thought you were the perfect couple. He always took you out on extravagant dates and bought you expensive jewelry. Every girl wanted to be you. But that was only because they didn't know what happened behind closed doors. He never physically hurt you, not many people could, I mean you could hold your
own in Egypt, you're pretty tough, but mentally, he knew you were weak. You would confide in him in the beginning of your relationship about all your friends back home that you missed. He never let you call home or talk to them either. The ones you could never see again. Everytime he wanted you to hurt he would just remind you that they were dead because you weren't there for them, you weren't strong enough to save them. Countless letters came in from your friends and family and he'd throw them away before you could see them. He would even tell you that no one was writing to you anymore.
Every now and then you manage to chat with Jotaro. He'd call you on your lunch break at work from time to time just to play catch up. Asking things like 'how's life?' and 'are you doing okay?' and the sort of thing. Everytime you told him you were doing great. You love your husband and you even try to brag about how well he treats you by describing all the luxurious gifts he's been buying you. Everytime Jotaro ended the call saying he was happy for you and then a
quick update on his life.
To be honest, Jotaro wasn't falling for your phone calls. He knew something was wrong, but he never knew how bad it really was. He thought it was strange that you never wrote to him or called him outside of your work hours. It was also strange how you never really went into depth about your personal life either.
One fateful day, you're having a routine call with Jotaro when your husband decided to stop by to take you out to lunch. He asked the secretary why your door was closed to which she simply responded, "Oh, she's talking to her childhood friend Jotaro! He usually calls about this time every week."
He walks into your office catching you off guard while you're still on the phone. The shock alone causes you to drop the phone with a quiet screech.
"Y/n, are you there?" Jotaro stays on the line worried about what he just heard.
Your husband shuts your office door leaving just the two of you in there and is yelling just loud enough to where your coworkers can't hear him.
"I thought I told you no one wanted to talk to you anymore? They're all fed up with you, can't believe you let your friends die back in Egypt. They'll never
forgive you for that."
"You're right I'm sorry just please don't do this here."
"What makes you think you can tell *me* what to do? That's not how this works. And who gave you permission to talk to other guys? There's going to be some serious consequences for this when you come home." He walks out of your office smiling at all of your coworkers like nothing had just happened, followed by a shut of your office door and your muffled cries.
"Y/n?? Are you still there? Are you okay? Did he hurt you?"
"Wh- what did you hear?" You managed to squeak out, choking back tears.
"I heard enough y/n, he's not a good guy. I knew something was wrong. We have to get you out of there."
"No. This is my life now. I don't need your help, I told you I'm perfectly fine."
"Y/n I'm not kidding, you have to get out of there *now* and I won't take no for an answer."
"I can't, okay! I have nowhere to go. No one would believe me if I said the things he's done to me. Anyone who I try to run to just rats me out to him and the situation gets worse."
"Y/n, go pack your most essential things while he's out of the house. I'm buying you a ticket home for tonight. You'll be safe here this time tomorrow."
The instant care Jotaro had just shown you only causes you to cry more. How could you let yourself get like this? You really weren't okay. You were just too headstrong to admit anything was wrong.
"Thank you." You were able to muster through even more tears.
After picking yourself up off the floor and drying your face, you left your office, no intention to come back. You rushed home to grab only your essential items while your husband was finishing his day at work. You grabbed a few sets of clothing, your toothbrush, hair and makeup accessories, a few pairs of shoes, and your folder of important documents. Everything else was replaceable and or retrievable at a later date.
You take a deep breath and get the courage to call a ride to the airport.
Free from your husband's control, you weren't scared to text or call Jotaro on your own phone now. You called him letting him know that you were on your way.
One short plane ride across the ocean later and Jotaro was waiting there for you to take you home. You're not sure how long he was there for but you're convinced he was waiting there since before you even took off.
"Y/n, over here." He waves you over.
You walk over shyly and ashamed of what he had witnessed just the day before. You couldn't even pick your head up enough to look him in the eyes.
"Y/n it's okay now. You're here with me, he can't get to you right now."
"Ye- yeah I guess you're right. So where do I go now?"
"C'mon, I'll take you back to my place."
"We're stopping there before the hotel?"
"I'm not letting you stay alone right now. You're staying with me at my house. The only reason I let you fly alone was because it got you out of there faster."
Jotaro takes your bag and you both head to the taxi.
"C'mon short stuff, get those legs movin' faster."
"Hey! Not everyone can be freakishly tall."
Jotaro raises one eyebrow, "So I'm a freak, aye?"
"Sorr-"
"Don't apologize, you're already more vocal when you're free around here. I like it."
The taxi drops you two off at his house. The drive felt like an eternity when in reality it was only a few short minutes. You stared out the car door window in awe.
*So this is what he's been up to this whole time*
"Well c'mon now, let's get inside."
You quickly follow after him like a lost puppy.
"There's a spare bedroom upstairs and down the hall, why don't you take this time to relax and freshen up while I make us something to eat?"
"You really don't have to do this for me Jotaro, but I appreciate it."
You head upstairs with your bag. It really was a long flight. You decide to take a quick shower and put on some clean clothes.
About an hour goes by when Jotaro comes by your room to collect you.
"Dinners ready y/n."
"Okay, I'll be right out, I just have to put some makeup on first."
"Uhh, what for? We're not going out anywhere."
"I don't know. I just always do. He always made me wear makeup, even at the house, I guess I'm just used to it."
Jotaro quickly turns around and starts heading towards the kitchen, but not without leaving a remark, "well don't. You look better without it anyway."
You follow soon after him with a fresh blank face. The table has already been set beautifully and you can already smell your favorite dish. He brings over two plates of food followed by a new bottle of wine.
"Why don't we catch up for real this time?" He asks.
Hours go by at the dinner table along with a few bottles of wine. The two of you bickering just like the old days. You missed this. You needed this.
You finally caught a glimpse of the time and stood up to help clean up the table.
"You don't need to help clean this up y/n. We can even clean it up tomorrow. Why don't we go talk in the living room for a bit longer?"
You move forward as an attempt to get to the couch, finally realizing how much you actually drank, you're quite tipsy in fact. Jotaro moves over to the couch to join you. Sitting side by side he grabs your hand with a guilty look on his face.
"Y/n, I'm so sorry this happened to you. It's all my fault."
Clearly he's a bit tipsy too if he's actually trying to admit being at fault right now.
"None of this is your fault Jotaro, what are you going on about?"
"If I was just straight with you when we were younger. If I actually had the courage to say something to you. Maybe you would have stayed. Maybe you would've ended up with me instead. Instead I thought you were too good for me."
Your eyes start to swell up. "Don't say that. Ever. I'm the one that's not good enough for you. Why would you ever want someone like me?"
"Well, you're you, that's why. You're strong, you held your own in the desert, you tried your hardest for us and you made it out. I've never met anyone as strong as you, and to know that someone took advantage of you? And I wasn't there to protect you? I'm so sorry for all of it."
Now full on ugly crying again, Jotaro wraps his arms around you and pulls you in for a hug.
"I'm so sorry Jotaro. Can you forgive me?"
He lifts up your crying head by your chin and brushes all your loose pieces of hair out of your face. He holds you here until you return the look into his deep aqua eyes. He moves forward, crashing his lips into yours. There was no hesitation on your end, you kissed him back just as hungrily. Neither of you needed words to figure out what the other one was thinking. You could feel the admittance of your love for each other from just that embrace. Jotaro pulls back and pushes your head into his chest so he can hold you once again. He pats your head.
"It's all okay now, I'm sorry it took this long," and he leaves a kiss on the top of your head.
The moment is only ended by your yawning since you've been up for lord knows how long. Jotaro picks you up and carries you in his arms to his room. He notices the slight confusion in your face.
"I was thinking maybe you sleep in here with me tonight, kinda like old times?"
"Okay, just let me go change into my pajamas. I don't want to get in the nice clean bed in my dirty clothes.".
You walk back into his room in just his old t-shirt you kept from the desert.
"You really kept that old thing?" He spouted.
"I really did. It's how I kept you close that whole time I was gone." You said with an embarrassed smile.
"It really does look better on you ya know?" He says through a full face of blush. Just seeing you again in that shirt made him think of all the things he wanted to do to you now and then.
You moved to go lay down alongside Jotaro in his massive bed. He always wanted to know what it'd be like to hold you in his arms in his own bed.
Jotaro pulls you into his chest to hold you tight, with no intention of letting you go. He places a delicate kiss on your cheek. You squeeze his hand as a subtle sign of acceptance and nuzzle into his broad figure.
“Goodnight y/n. Sleep tight.”
