I LIVE AGAIN

For most people, one bind does not take this long. However I am a) a beginner and b) the physical embodiment of ADHD (so motivation is a lil hard to come by) (my poor friend has been waiting on her birthday gift for over a month now) (but it's fine)

Edge trimming did take ages as I predicted last time but it's DONE and it looks pretty decent considering I did it by hand with a wood chisel and a homemade press. Also finished reinforcing the spine & added headbands and bookmark!

AND I made the case today! First time using the foil quill pen I bought months ago (thanks to the good folks in the @renegadeguild discord server for the recommendation!) I kept the cover design very simple and didn't do anything on the spine or back, mostly because I didn't quite know how the pen worked yet and this was my last bit of red bookcloth so I was Very Scared of Messing Up

The phoenix design definitely isn't as perfect as it would be if I used a cricut, but for hand-drawn I think it looks p good so I'm happy with it

Making sure the case fits, not glued in yet (that's a job for tomorrow)

Also I’ve said it before about Ezran&Zym and Rayla&Callum being two halves of the show’s narrative centre but it truly is funny to contrast and compare Zym and Callum accordingly bc

Both Callum and Zym are separated from their biological fathers (dead) and mothers and stowed away in Katolis castle

In the S2 finale, Zym learns to fly due to his bond and love with Ezran. In the S3 finale, Callum learns how to fly due to his bond and love with Rayla.

Both have an equal hand in removing Rayla’s binding; Callum shatters the primal stone, allowing for Zym to be hatched, 

“It feels the way it did when I used the fulminus spell. See? Zym feels it too.”

Attached to the same arcanum (which, I’d imagine the Draconic Royal family’s arcanum was chosen in the creative process to both set up Callum’s arc with Sky, but also the irony of them being the ones to imprison Aaravos and thereby take away his freedom)

Harrow’s final goodbye to Callum is “Take care of your brother,” just as Ezran’s goodbye to Zym (novelization wise) is “Take care of him” to Zym, speaking about Callum

“His destiny will be the destruction of humanity” (3x06) / “The human mage, already tainted by darkness, and destined to play right into my hands” (4x04)

Thinking about the bat family doing normal family shit and it’s just a painful reminder that they are still human people and humans are kinda silly.

Like

They go ice skating and Jason, 6ft and 225 pound, the Red Hood, is comically bad at ice skating. One foot on the ice and he’s on his back with his feet in the air like a cartoon.

And he denies it the whole time but his legs shake and he clings to the wall with white knuckles while muttering curses like he’s trying to spell his feet to work.

And Dick is just great with all his balance and figure skating stupid fucking acrobat bastard-

Or they decide to go see a movie as a family. It’s a horror movie, and they assume everyone will be fine because they see enough horror in their daily life.

And normally they would be, but this is a slasher. So it’s all suspense and jumpscares and gore. And Tim, Tim who loves psychological thrillers and can see movie endings coming from miles away, is suddenly clinging to Dick’s arm as subtly as possible because every scare has him tensing and trying not to yelp.

Or they go out to a carnival, with rollercoasters and bad food and worse games to win dumb prizes. They’re walking around, splitting up to do various activities, and Dick and Damian comes up to Bruce and asks him to go home.

Why? Because Dick drank too much soda, he refuses to use the bathrooms. He has an irrational fear of outhouses. And Damian saw one of the mascots walking around, a man in some kind of shitty lion suit with a vest, and is convinced the lion suited man is going to get him. (Bruce does take them home, but Jason teases them the whole way.)

Just silly things that show how they are people beneath the masks.

Love it.
