So like I’ve never done this before but I think I’m gonna do it at this concert… bring a sign
At the Woodz concert I went to last yr there was a woman near me who had a sign that asked him to wish her good luck with a job promotion.
So i kinda wanna do something similar. After 3 years of hard work in school and rebuilding myself after starting to recover from depression that consumed my last two years of high school, I will be graduating community college with not one but two degrees and likely honors as well if I keep my gpa up through the end of this semester.
So, the sign says “This month, I’m earning two associate’s degrees, so please cheer me on”
In Korean, 이번 달에 준학사 학위를 2개 취득할거니까 응원해주세요!
If it gets acknowledged, great, if not, oh well. Although I want to do this, I feel kinda awkward about it but several friends have reassured me that it is totally normal and not weird at all to bring a sign like that to a concert so ill probably do it anyway
#rambling again#feel free to ignore#but it would feel so fucking good to be acknowledged#and after everything I deserve to feel that good#they do not owe it to me to respond#but I kinda owe it to myself to do things that make me happy#I had to look up the specific words for earning an associates degree but otherwise it’s all my words#and I checked with somebody to make sure it was grammatically correct

Weekly Anime Comics: Macross - page 5
Hey, you gotta find whatever little victories in life that you can (even though, ironically, this page is going public right before I actually AM about to clean off the entire desk to make room for a new computer)
And speaking of not putting in much effort, it really amused me that somebody actually went through all of the trouble to properly type out a contextually appropriate and grammatically correct page of English text for Minmay's letter... when just one shot earlier, somebody ELSE had filled her bookshelf full of books that just had the word "BOOK" written on all the spines. Oh, and just for the record: if you like my silly nerd cartoons, be sure to keep checking out Conventional Wisdom's journal comics about Animazement 2023!

omg hi!! i was the one who requested the American reader! with Jojo’s and i. LOVED. it!!!! if i can, could i please get another one of the American reader but the Jojos having to deal with others harassing or bullying them because of their accent and how unintelligent they seem to be? i have an accent that most people think i am dumb because i don’t say things properly or grammatically correct. it had always been an insecurity for me since i had speech issues within my childhood and i grew up where they speak in an accent or that form of grammar.
Of course, I’m so glad you liked the last one I did for you! ❤❤❤
I hope you like this one as well!
Jonathan
“Dearest, what has you down?”
He is immediately worried.
“Just somebody in town made a comment about my speech.”
“Why? You speak fine.” He tucks a finger under your chin, “Fluently and beautifully.”
You smile, “It’s just that it reminded me of what my classmates used to say.”
Jonathan who knows much about teasing prods, “What did they tell you, my love?”
“It’s stupid.”
“I’m sure it, please.” He sits you down.
“It’s, just that... they used to say things about my accent. They’d make fun of me.”
“That’s dreadful.”
“They called me stupid.”
He lifts your chin to meet your eye, “Well, it’s not often I hear something so wrong.”
“Thanks, Jojo, but I can’t help but feel like they were right.”
“My love, the last person I heard who was that wrong told me the Earth was on a flat surface.”
You laugh, “You’ve met somebody that dumb?”
“I can’t say it’s anything compared to what those kids told you.”
You lean up against his chest, “I love you, Jojo.”
“As do I, love.”
Joseph
It was just an ordinary day, Joseph had gone shopping with you.
As you were checking out, the person at the register asked you for $46.99. You asked if cash was okay, and they squinted at you. “Pardon me?”
Once again you asked if you could pay in cash, and again the guy raised an eyebrow, “I’m sorry, but your accent is too thick. Can speak to your husband, instead?”
Joseph flies off the handle. “WHAT DID YOU SAY?”
He grabs the cashier by the collar and pulls him up, eye to eye. “My hearing is a bit off, you wanna say that again?”
“No, no, no, sir.” The cashier waves their arms around and stutters, “Please, put me down!”
Joseph holds his hand out for you to pass him the money, “$46.99. Ring it in.”
“Yes, sir. Right away, sir!”
Joseph glares at him until you leave. “We are never buying anything from there ever again.”
“Why did you do that?” You slide your change into your pocket.
“There are too many people in this place who don’t respect people who are different, take Smoky as an example. Nobody disrespects people like that, not my friends and especially not you.”
He won’t cool down for a while. He needs some snuggles.
Jotaro
“And what would you two like to order?”
“A plate of spider rolls, would be great, thank you.”
“I’ll have the same,” Jotaro adds.
“I’m sorry what was that, dear?” The waitress asks
“2 plates of spider rolls, please.”
Yet again she asks you to repeat, and you have to say it again
She asks one more time before Jotaro slams his fist on the table, “Spider rolls. Two plates to go and make it fast, I’m tired of you wasting our time.”
She glares at you and hurries off to the kitchen.
Later after other customers give you the hairy eyeball, she finally arrives with the food in styrofoam containers. “And how will you be paying, today?” She fake smiles.
“We’re not. You are. Thanks for embarrassing my partner and me, you bitch.”
With that, he takes your hand and you leave. “Jotaro, you stiffed them the bill!”
“And they deserved it.”
“Why?”
“Yare yare. Because your confidence is worth more than what she gets paid.”
You squeeze his hand in yours.
Josuke
It had been a long school day, and you were strolling down the halls.
You had your arms linked with Josuke, who was taking you out for ice cream once the bell rang.
From behind you, you could hear the snickering of some girls you knew all too well.
“Wow, Josuke. Dating them? Don’t you want to take out somebody who can actually talk?”
The girls laugh among themselves and you just decide to keep walking as if you didn’t hear them, but Josuke stops in his tracks.
“What was that?” He stiffens.
Oh, uh.
That was the telltale sign he was pissed. You haven’t seen him stop that suddenly since some guys dissed his hair. You felt bad for how bad the new nose job was that they received.
“Josuke,” You plead. “They aren’t worth it.”
He whips around to face you, rage evident in his eyes, “You are well worth it, Y/N.”
You watch him turn around and march right up to them, his height seems to be getting clearer to the girls, who were incredibly outmatched. “Care to repeat that?” He practically steams with rage.
The ring leader shrivels away, “It was just a joke, Jojo.”
“Don’t you dare call me that,” His fist reaches the wall up above them, “Only they can call me that,” He offhandedly points in your direction.
“You wanna find out what happens when you dis them?” The girls begin to pale and shake in their uniforms.
“HIGASHIKATA! Detention, now!”
You ended up having to tell Tomoko that Josuke was also suspended for threatening students. He missed getting ice cream
But you couldn’t be more flattered. And those girls wouldn’t bother you, ever again.
Giorno
It was a leisurely day when you had told him about how you were insecure about your accent.
He was braiding fresh flowers into your hair using his stand to grow them. “Cara, there is nothing wrong with the way you speak.”
“That’s not what other kids would say,”
“My love, those kids were thinking of themselves. To boost their self-confidence, they picked on you”
“How do you know?”
“I was bullied a lot as a child as well, love.”
“How did you deal with it?”
“I didn’t waste my time on them. They get nothing out of it if you ignore them.”
“I wish I’d known that sooner,” You pluck some petals off a flower, which is far from the rest, and a different colour.
“Cara, those people are imbecilli. It’s beautiful to be unique, to be special.” He takes the flower from your hand and a golden hand lays in the dirt.
Soon more flowers, ones just like that one you had began to sprout all over. “Cara, everything is special and wonderful, you have to be blind to see otherwise.”
One flower grows around your wrist and blooms in your palm.
He leans in, “I am not blind, love.”

Gamers For Groceries 2 event
A Twitch stream event from a few days ago. It can currently be re-watched here (it was fun & interesting, so I do recommend to check it out direct). This post contains some notes on things of particular interest & relevant timestamps, in case this is useful to anyone (for example bc of accessibility reasons).
First up is the All About Animating panel, a series of mini-interviews with game devs (animators) asking what they do, how they got there, and advice for anyone interested in getting into the industry. Some or all of the devs that were interviewed are currently working on DA4. They talked a bit about their day-to-day work and a lot about the craft of game dev animation in general. This segment runs from timestamp ~38 mins 40 secs to 1:07:50. Some notes:
[sounded like DA4] Right now the creature team are working on different creatures in a way which involves going through a lot of mocap data
At BioWare they have a pretty big technical animation team, to support their animators, so each tech animator has a different specialty. Tech anim involves animation support, character art support, and rigging the characters so that the animators can pose them
[not sure if re: DA4 work specifically, another project or a general comment on the craft] One of the featured animators’ area of specialty at the moment is faces and hair (building the control structure for face animations). First they had to decide how the face rig and its control structure would work. This involves a lot of performance capture of live actors for things like cinematics and gameplay animation, therefore the rigs for bodies and faces have to be able to accurately capture the full range of expressions and emotions that the actor is portraying. Right now the stage that this dev is working on most is setting up the heads that they’re getting through the pipeline from character art e.g. making adjustments based on feedback from the cinematics team. “Polish - just trying to get realism”
Hair tech has come quite a long way in the last few years [in the industry]
[not sure if re: DA4 work specifically, another project or a general comment on the craft] Hair is very complex to get right. “In the past most games have used card-based hair, which is basically like sheets of polygons with a texture on it that looks like hair, through layers of transparency. But real hair is strand-based, digital strands, so we’re starting to look into that kind of tech - try to get more realistic, more beautiful hair, but there’s always a performance cost to hair. Layers of transparent things are always an expense, they need to balance like, it looks good and moves well, but it doesn’t make your computer or console chug. [...] I guess we’re in the prototype stage but we’ve almost got a set pipeline. It’s always fun to experiment”
In Mass Effect 2 or 3, Miranda’s hair was as expensive as a whole character (!)
[on balancing hair costs/performance, general] It depends on things like character importance and how many characters are on-screen at the time. When you’re in gameplay fighting a bunch of monsters you’re not going to be giving full beautiful hair to all the characters and the monsters, as it will cost too much. (Having a helmet on is a convenient way to get rid of hair.) But if it’s a cinematic scene, with 2 characters talking to each other in a dramatic context, there’s a better budget for nice hair allocated
Some of the hair in Anthem was quite expensive in cinematics. They kept getting bugs from QA saying (for example) that a character’s hair was tripling the performance cost in the scene, so it would go back to character art so they could take away some of the hair cards. “Tough balance, quality versus cost”
“I wish all the characters could have beautiful strand hair”
For p-cap, a lot of the time they don’t want to be too prescriptive in terms of the direction that they’re giving the actors, as the actors know what they’re doing and have a lot of experience, so they give them vague instructions that they then riff off of
[sounded like DA4] They recently did a mocap shoot
[sounded like DA4] There’s a bit more productivity happening now in the pandemic situation; now that the animators are not all going to the capture lab in Vancouver in person for shoots, if it’s not their turn to direct a shot they can instead be working on something else on their computers (multi-tasking). ((Lead DA4 Producer Scylla Costa recently gave a talk at a games festival on the challenges of DA production during the pandemic. In part of this talk he talked about various benefits and drawbacks to the remote-working situation. He also talked about and showed some behind-the-scenes stuff for p-cap and mocap. Notes, images and link here))
[sounded like DA4] Special mocap suits were sent out that they can use with a laptop to go anywhere and shoot motion capture. It’s not as high fidelity as what comes out of the capture lab, but it’s really good for prototyping stuff. Before the pandemic they did some of this (going to a park and shooting some running around)
[sounded like DA4] In one of the shoots they had some actors who were really well-trained in dancing. They were trying to get them to do some combat stuff. This was a bit challenging in the pandemic situation as there’s only so much they can demonstrate/portray as an example to the actors from a distance on camera. “It’s hard to describe what a ‘dodge to attack’ is through the camera to somebody who has no idea what combat looks like in video games”
[not sure if re: DA4 work specifically, another project or a general comment on the craft] The pandemic has really affected performance capture for the face side of things badly, as in order to record, the actor gets dots painted on their face in specific locations by a makeup artist. They can’t do that right now because of social distancing/restrictions, so they haven’t been recording faces at the moment
The more detailed a face, the more joints it has, the more the cost to performance is
---
There was also the Writers’ Block panel, featuring DA writers Mary Kirby, Sheryl Chee and Patrick Weekes, and DA editor Karin Weekes. The timestamps for this segment are ~2:37:50 - 3:26:20. Some notes:
PW has never been weirder than when they were writing Cole on DAI
PW thinks that they accidentally wrote part of “Timber” by Kesha into Solas at one point and they were like “Well, okay, I have to stop listening to Kesha”
For Sheryl, after a while Blackwall’s VA always nailed doing his lines. She loved the quality of his voice and so after a while would always hear his voice while she was writing. This really worked out
^ Mary had this with Merrill. As soon as they cast Eve Myles she listened to several hours of her in Torchwood, and then just wrote to the way that she spoke as much as possible
^ PW had this with GDL as Solas and FPJ as Bull. As soon as they heard FPJ’s delivery, they were like “Oh, okay, I have to write some lines differently, because Bull is smarter than I realized”. With GDL they were like “Okay, he’s going to put poetry into anything I say, in the best way possible”. In early drafts of Solas lines there were parts where they [PW] wondered “Is this too melodramatic? Is this too tragically-angstful?” and then they would hear GDL and be like “Oh! [It’s fine] Game on!”
For localization, German words are often quite long so they often have to make sure that everything fits on the GUI
They think scenes like the romance scenes sound prettier in the Italian versions
Behind the curtain in creating the in-world languages: PW: “There are some awesome websites that have every elven word, like ‘Here are the translations and verb tenses and conjugations’ [etc], [...] and usually Mary and I get very sad slightly looking at those pages going like ‘Does that mean that we have to stick to that?’ [...] The rule is, if I’ve looked at the Wiki and the words, and I go ‘Here’s the correct grammatical way to do it’, and if that turns out to be too long or too many disconnected syllables and it just looks bad or sounds bad, then we shorten it to something simpler, because the key is we want to give the flavor of a foreign language, but we don’t have the world-building budget and capacity to make something that is going to be dictionary-real [in a way that] someone could go through and translate all the background things written on the old temple walls”. Part of the reason for this is the consideration for VAs, who already have to act while bearing lots of things in mind, like the cues in the script for each line
Mary: “For building a language, the first things that I started with for qunlat, elven and dwarven, was what words do we need to use the most? Greetings, farewells, words for friend and enemy, basic things that will come up easily in conversation. After that it’s ‘How difficult is this for other writers to use?’ Can they just pick it off the Wiki? Do they need just one word? Do they need to write whole sentences, and how does that work? Qunlat has almost no grammar to it because asking anyone to learn how to use Qunari grammar and conjugate verbs in a pretend language is impossible, and then once you’ve done that a human being has to be able to read it, while not knowing what any of it means”
PW: “One thing that I was really impressed with with Mary in particular doing, Mary was one of the big lore people across the entire DA series; I can look at a word and go like, ‘That has two A’s in a row, that’s definitely a Qunari word. That word is kind of long and maybe has some apostrophes and has a couple of flowy vowel sounds, that’s probably elven’, I think that’s what’s important. You want players to be able to look at a word, players want to feel smart, [like] ‘Oh I don’t know what that means but I totally know that’s a word from the Qunari people!’”. Mary: “Every language has its own set of phonemes, the sounds that they make, and the sort of word structure and spelling so that it gives a flavor to that language. Hopefully that is always chosen to be pronounceable, because again, very important that the words can be said by human beings :D”
Sheryl: “One of the fun things to do is to make up swear words in the fake languages [...] Recently Brianne wanted a word, I don’t know if she managed to find one”
The origin of bosh’tet in ME: it’s just saying “bastard” and slurring it
PW: “I feel like there are times when past writers kind of leave traps for future writers, where past writers will go ‘Okay, I’m going to write this detailed phrase in a codex entry but don’t worry, it doesn’t matter if it can never be said aloud, because it’ll never have to be voiced!’ and then, next game, guess what guys! Look what you have to make someone [a VA] say! And you’re like [facepalm], c’mon!”
Karin: “Now, four games in, we have pages and pages of all these examples, and I wanna say this, well that’s how we said something before, well that’s ridiculous, I don’t wanna say that, but now we’ve said it and it’s out there, so it’s like, how do we, y’know, how do we evolve, and sometimes we just go ‘Screw it! Languages are living languages! We’ll just say it like this now!’”
PW's favorite is the sarcastic Mythal’enaste, “Because it’s the sarcastic Mythal's blessing that basically means you’re getting screwed over somehow. I love it because Mythal nasty! Whoever wrote that clearly never thought that someone would have to say this out loud”
Sheryl wrote Bull’s joke icicles line. She also wrote Isabela’s big boats line - Jennifer took it out but then DG was like “No it has to come back”
They have a pun test, they get a few of them and have to allot them wisely so as not to oversaturate on the puns. “Is this good/bad enough to be one of the times that we pull the trigger? We did have one of those recently, I obviously can’t talk about it, but it was pronounced Okay to go ahead”
The ‘baby-est’ writer is Brianne, who’s been there 8 years
It makes PW sad that the players never get to see the writers’ temp-text [placeholder text when portions are a WIP]. “People have the best temp-text". Mary: “The number of conversations that I’ve temped in like ‘WELL. I hope nothing BAD happens HERE’”
Q. If you could bring in anybody from outside of gamedev, who would you like to work with and do a writer’s session with? PW: “I will say romance novelist Nora Roberts, she is really smart and also she knows how to write inside a genre, and do wonders within it. Her structure is so good. If you pick up one of her books, you know here’s when this is gonna happen, here’s when they’re gonna meet, here’s when this first moment will happen. We’re all experienced and I feel pretty good about that but I really like all of the things she does that way, and also I am a sucker for romance so I would love to bring a romance novelist in and just have them look at our scenes and go ‘Okay here, no, they should pull the tie so that the article of clothing comes open, we need a sense of how warm the skin is here’ - something like that. I’d wanna see what they could do with that”
“Luke writes the best worst lines”
“I’m always impressed with Mary getting away with lines. There are lines that I look at like, wow, you buried that one. [...] The only players who get that line, I feel like they earned it if they went that far into it. [...] And then Varric or Merrill says a ridiculous line in a one-time throwaway”
Karin: “The group dynamic, you’ll see conversations or snippets of a lunch chat or a thing we’ve been joking about and you’ll see it get pulled in, and how all of you [the writers] are able to take a normal kind of thing - as normal as we get as a group anyway - and then turn it into a moment, and use it to further the plot or use it to further a character. It’s just the cleverest thing and it happens in so many different ways. [...] The little snippet of life, then how you crafted it into this very cool thing”
Quartermaster Threnn was written by PW in half a day. “When I was writing Threnn, ‘Okay, this is a good-hearted [person], I was doing a little bit of Steel Magnolias, southern, no-nonsense, but like, blue collar Steel Magnolias’. This is someone accustomed to the ways of the world so she’s going to call a spade a spade. If you come up to her and you’re an elf she doesn’t recognize you and says ‘Buckets are over there’ because she thinks you’re there to clean, [but] ‘Anyone calls you a knife-ear you come to me I’ll take care of it’. It’s problematic but she’s trying - the good-hearted person rooted for the wrong group on every occasion. She was a proud Loghain supporter, she gets really exited if he comes to Skyhold. That was a fun character for me to write because I had a viewpoint in my mind. I remember someone was like ‘Threnn is really important to me’. And you have to honor that, cause you’re like ‘Cool, it means so much to me that this connected with some part of you’”
---
Also of interest was the Mass Affection panel, in which BioWare devs looked back in over a decade of history to remaster a classic. It featured devs who worked on MELE. The timestamps for this segment are ~3:36:09 - 4:24:37. Some notes:
When the pandemic hit the MELE team were in a relatively awkward spot. They were really entering into what they consider full production and were on-boarding a bunch of teams, as well as training and on-boarding third-party external partner specialized teams worldwide. When the pandemic hit, BioWare and EA were super on top of it. They were tracking it weeks beforehand, getting everyone their computers ready, and getting everything encrypted. When the middle of March 2020 hit they were home rightaway. EA were nothing but supportive throughout the entire thing. They got money every quarter for stuff. It functionally ‘hit’ at 4-6 different times for them as the pandemic occurred in different places throughout the world at different times depending on each country’s response plan (and their external partners were in different countries). “So it was one of those things where it was just like, every day we’d come in like can we still work with this company anymore? Do we need to find someone else? Do we need to pull people in off the other projects at BioWare to fill gaps here and there?”
There was a bug on Virmire at the part when you’re coming into the STG camp. If the Mako had its new boosters on and you came hurtling in really fast, it cut to the cutscene, but the Mako hit a jump and when Ash was like “What do we do now?” the Mako ended up literally flying around in the background sideways and then crashing into the camp
Another bug: when they were re-tuning the guns, the physics force on some of the guns with Hammerhead rounds was so high that when you were fighting some of the Thorian Creepers, you could ragdoll them so hard that you could basically embed them in the roof. They’d be moving so fast that they’d penetrate all the walls with their legs dangling out. It was so easy to do and you could do it to everybody. You could launch a geth halfway across an Uncharted World
Another bug: with Shepard’s casual appearance in ME3, if you didn’t have it set up perfectly correctly it would default to Grunt for some reason. You’d be walking around as Grunt, going on dates as Grunt, and your face would be all scrunched up because it was all mapped to human bones still, so it was just, like, Nightmare Fuel of Grunt
Another bug: in ME2 on Illium when trying to recruit Samara, the Asari enemies just would not stop screaming - regardless of whether they were hit or not, it was endless screaming. Later one of the devs got an audio file of the scream, endless and looped, and now one of the devs has it on their phone and uses it for their morning alarm tone
“Shepard would come up to characters and they’d just be screaming”
---
There was also the Programming Variables panel, talking about what hurdles game programmers face. Some [or all?] of the devs that were part of this panel are currently working on DA4. They talked a bit about their day-to-day work and about the craft of game dev programming in general. The timestamps for this segment are ~ 4:24:46 - 5:06:02.

THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW. It was the day where Geralt was back on his wild hunt. He'd procrastinated more than he can ever plead for; taking him days with his family was better than having none as the lone witcher would leave with nothing but his horse and sword like the good ol' days.
Other times, he'd have Jaskier in his trips when the bard was too restless to stay and guard Cirilla---it has been two years for doing so---and he would complain about how tedious Geralt would tell his stories about slaughtering such a specific beast. The toubadour wanted to experience and see everything happen before his eyes regardless of his fear for such.
Which leaves Cuthbert and his family for taking care of the princess. Besides, Geralt thought it would be better that people wouldn't see Cirilla living in their home from time to time, as it can also complicate how she would be found because she didn't need to be.
But, with you around; there has to be somebody that was needed to guard and take care of his child of surprise; leading the preferable options down to you because you knew how a girl works and how their mind moves rather than with Jaskier who always welcomes him home with arguments about nonsense things together with his child of surprise. Complaining how she'd intentionally stomped on his foot because of how she was confined in their home all the darn times till how his cooking was abnormally awful rather than Geralt's.
No matter how uneasy Geralt was with leaving everyone alone, he needed to sacrifice the worries away for his family and choose the safety for the people. Even if it would take him days to bask in his solitude with Roach whom he would have as his silent companion.
The witcher was getting ready for his hunt today. He was checking on stuffs that were utterly important not to forget. Elixirs. Herbs. Equipment. Weapons. Geralt continued to place his things inside his bag before a soft piece of parchment has brushed off his fingertips, making him stop from rummaging inside his bag to snatch it out.
It was the drawing he retrieved from the gallants he'd fought. The broken sketch of you and him together, taken from being scoured by the royal guards because he was needed for a favor that could help the kingdom and its heir.
Fucking people who kept on needing him all the damn time. He silently spewed blasphemy over and over inside his head for making his life more complex than it ever was with Destiny laughing on his side.
Especially that he was finally accepting what it brings to him. You.
He'd taken one last look on the paper before tucking it inside his bag; in a safe place where it wouldn't be destroyed before he'd heard familiar stealthy footsteps padding closer to where he stood beside his horse.
"Geralt,"
Jaskier has taken what the witcher has fetched him to, showing the contents of what laid on his palms before his brooding friend has taken it with a begrudging look that says he woke up on the bad side of the bed today.
Though, the bard was sure he did because of the perception that he needed to leave you alone in his chambers.
Geralt has given him a sharp look which has taken aback Jaskier who seemed to be surprised in such the break of dawn, ceasing his yawn when he'd received such surprising antagonism. He saw the blank stare he'd given him, thoroughly stupefied from whatever sauciness he was trying to give.
Jaskier could even notice how he was more quiet and grumpier than usual first thing in the morning. An unusual state of the witcher when you came along because he was finally talking more after getting some sleep.
"What’s going on, Geralt? Did something happened? I thought friends trust each other! You know you can trust me on this---anything! Is Roach dying? do you need another horse?"
The monster-slayer raised a sassy brow at his friend, looking away as he went on to obtain the items that laid on Jaskier's hands. His hands abnormally heavy as their hands grazed each other; letting the bard know that there was something more to it other than the idea that you would be away from him.
"Should I ask you the same thing?" he deeply grumbled, sounding like a snarl that has caught Jaskier off guard.
His talkative friend appeared to be wounded from his silent grudges that he held out for him. Jaskier couldn't help but scrunch his face in utmost perplexity, feeling aggravated for what attitude Geralt has been giving him when all he had been doing was help him in such a crazy, early hour of the morning.
He won't be taking his attitude when he was still heavy-eyed from trying to get his sleep last night. Reasons why he couldn't was because his room was beside yours and the insatiable witcher. Technically, his suggestions that have been approved sometimes hit him in the head like a boomerang; he didn't think it through that his advice can bring him results where he would suffer.
Geralt and his shitty, overly developed libido.
"But, I don’t have a horse! Why are you---Oh! Ohohoho. You were being sarcastic! I know you---know the differences of those monotones of your verbose timbres. Everybody should applaud me for it," Jaskier scornfully laughed, annoyed by how the witcher has been acting. He held onto his hips, shoulders rolled as his head fell back while he sarcastically laughed, feeling the swift breeze of the morning fog giving him a whiplash as Geralt walked pass him to fix Roach's reigns. The toubadour has turned on his heels to see the subtle swerving of topic by staying silent and minding his own business.
"---I'm utterly not in the mood for your grouchy attitude, Witcher! You sound like you are accusing me of something I shouldn’t have done!"
Roach gave a nicker as she heard two friends share their squabbles; being immature over not sharing what one has a problem over the other.
"You sound guilt-ridden." Geralt bluntly stated, ignoring the bard who has sauntered in front of him with an offended face. His friend seem to be lost at words from where ever his hostility is coming from.
Jaskier tried thinking it through, cocking his head to the side as he stood before the brooding witcher. He hadn't been too intrusive the past few days nor did he try and get his patience boiling. In all honesty, the bard has set a good amount of space around Geralt when you came in their lives. Reaching to the point that Geralt spends his time with you and Cirilla a lot more than him.
Though, there were the times where Jaskier gets to spend more time with you than Geralt when he was being the complicated mutant he is, sharing banters with you that ends up in a wrestling match because of how he kept on spitting jests that rattles the kindness you ought to have.
The witcher knew Jaskier blushed when he’d accidentally tackled you to the ground from choking him with all your might as you used your arms. The bard’s weight bringing you down when he tried battling with your physical blitz of ripostes. Geralt couldn’t help but purse his lips at that as he watched you wrestle with his annoying bard who had a palpitating heart from being flustered over you.
Jaskier likes you and he was sure about that.
"W-What---Oh! what a fuckin’ crass you are! What do you even mean?!" he bellowed and stammered, sounding and looking utterly lost. Pretty ocean blue eyes demanding for answers over what grudges he was holding; dramatically raising a hand for thespian gestures.
"Does she look like Booker? No. I suppose not. The cavalier you were fond with was horrible," Geralt sounded too straightforward, never known to sprinkle his words with flowery vernacular that would consider him kind and nice. He gave out a loud, audible sigh; giving him a nonplussed look.
No matter how rude he sounded, his eyes had a look of defiance and understanding. The witcher wasn't mad at the fact that Jaskier has taken a liking towards his midget. No. Geralt knew better than to be enraged over feelings he couldn't control; much so to himself despite of hating the strong feelings he was having over you.
Besides that, Jaskier was his friend. He respected you and Geralt because he knew what was coming forth between the both of you. Like a masochist, even to the point of helping you and the white wolf build the relationship that was bound to happen sooner or later.
Julian Alfred Pankratz just knew you were both endgame from the moment Geralt of Rivia have saved you from those scoundrels. What stated his facts correct was the subtle glimpses that the witcher has been giving you whenever you were around or near their presence; staring when you least expect him to and caring when you needed to be fostered.
Your existence had Geralt thoroughly interested for what and who you were and his friend could visibly see that.
Hence, right at this moment; it was his time to look obvious towards the ivory haired witcher over his one-sided attraction he had for you.
"I should've known, Jaskier. Your gestures aren't exactly subtle."
Geralt shook his head when he lately realized that, clasping a hand over Jaskier's shoulder to give a firm pat; respecting whatever he felt for you. If he wanted to continue those unrequited feelings, it was fine. But, the gesture from him was a silent discussion that he won't be backing down nor stepping away to give the him the opportunity to become what Geralt is already to you.
"I beg your pardon---? Shouldn't you be attacking me with your little tricks already?---I mean, right! Yeah." Jaskier started and stammered at the same time, but was cut off by a terse statement.
"Never leave her side as much as I would."
Geralt gave another light pat to his shoulder before he walked around him, treading over the front door to retrieve two flasks of water and your special Ale that he somehow needed to bring because it reminded of you. The bard trailed behind him, following his footsteps till he was hunched over to get them.
"Geralt, if I may ask---but I hope you wouldn't punch me in the gut after this. The Djinn, obviously was a snake in the lake. What will happen to her now?"
Jaskier just couldn't help but shut his mouth now, does he? he thought at the back of his mind, silently cursing for even bringing it up for him to remember.
The witcher stood up with a long drag of his breath; sounding surfeited by how his mind worked. He was in deep ponder over knowing that his friend had taken the hots for you too, yet he appeared to sound like he was pushing you away soon that he knew Geralt was thoroughly enamored.
"Now, you want her to go." he deadpanned, nettled by what he was suggesting. His eyebrows tightly crossed together from how cretinous it sounded, "---I've been told by a daft of a bard to keep the rat when I was finding a shitty Djinn,"
Geralt couldn't accept what he was hearing. He didn't need to hear this question especially when he was leaving for a hunt. The latter was finally trying to accept what destiny holds out for him, testing what would happen with you around; thinking if it was even a smart decision for him to not challenge fate for the second time around.
It was probably for the better before any sacrifices can happen. Though, why was he even being questioned when he's finally having momentous moments with you?
Geralt gravelly hummed in displeasure, walking away from his friend as he said out loud with a brooding demeanor, moon over by what questioned he received when he'd only done what everybody wanted from him.
"You smell of heartache, rejection and bewilderment, bard."
Jaskier looked utterly wounded from receiving such spiteful words.
"O-Oh! You just didn't quote me that, witcher! You are beyond frank and hilarious when you are being verbally challenged!"
He heavily marched towards Geralt, stopping in front of him with his arms dramatically wide open; indignant of how petty he sounded for being asked over a question that was bound to be inquired soon enough because you were a person who came from another dimension that truly exists.
"I was simply asking what you would do when the rat finally needs to come home from where she rightfully belongs! What will happen to her?!----especially, to you, huh?!"
Geralt's eyes were heavy as it landed on him. Brooding. Crestfallen. Enough to say that the concept of it made him even more dejected and disgruntled. The witcher kept his mouth tightly shut, snapping his eyes away to mule over what he said.
You were already a part of his home besides his original family and Geralt didn't know what to do when one person leaves. Again. He was already done with leaving people and it wasn't surprising when karma hits him back as it'll use you as a pawn.
But, he does not opt for it to happen.
Jaskier brought his arms down to his sides. Baby blue eyes narrowed and his eyebrows pushed together to elicit his worry for his friend despite of the real deal that he also had with you.
"----Because apparently, you are in the risk of heartache when the time comes for her to leave. Isn't that right, Geralt?"
The break of dawn is nigh; dark and light colliding to meet the sun as they were finally reaching daybreak from all the fusses that was happening. He should've left before you even woke up, knowing you would be slightly upset as you weren't used to what life he had nor did you exactly have the vivid idea of everything.
You knew nothing at all and soon enough, Geralt was sure it'll kick him in the butt for not saying anything more about their world and for what it holds.
"You aren't just fond of her anymore. It's beginning to grow more than that," Jaskier honestly convinced his theories and observations, pausing to look at Geralt who has given him a tiny quirk of his brow for what he wanted to say, "---Before you tell me that it's because of something the Djinn has cast upon you both, it must be wrong."
Geralt went completely silent; letting Jaskier share his opinions laid out for him to understand, "You risked to appear in front of that wandering vampire that the queen has kept around---" pause. "---risked everything we had, trying to lay low from everyone because our lives are at stake here,"
Jaskier's weight fell on one foot to the other, raising a hand to point at himself as he continued to conclude, "You can fool anyone but me, Geralt. I can see who she is for you,"
"What do you want me to say, Bard?"
He brought a finger up to the witcher, ceasing his temper from bursting out of nowhere, "All I'm saying is that you shouldn't let her go." pause. "---Keep her, because I know you'll think of the greater good and try to fix everything according to your treacherous and foolish plans. Don't let her leave you---don't make her leave us,"
Geralt cocked his head to the side, forehead creased in confusion for the sudden contrast of his advice. His friend was technically not sounding forthright after asking him what his decision was with the involvement of you.
The latter started again, "Choose---" Brusque and impatient. His harsh, clipped tones cut him off. Geralt stated as a matter of fact, "---the lesser evil. So, I've been told."
He rounded up and dragged his feet away from the bard, walking the path back to his horse with a vexed Jaskier who angrily marched to where he was.
"No, you fool!" he ungraciously exclaimed, standing beside Geralt who took Roach's reigns, tugging at it as he motioned for her that it was time for her to gait, taking heavy steps away from their home while Jaskier followed close.
"---choose the greater good; even if the decision makes you selfish, Geralt."
The witcher looked up at the sky, seeing the beautiful sunny color paving its way to greet them a good morning. It wasn't a good morning to him based on how irritating the start of his day began. He stopped his mosey with an evident sigh, letting Jaskier continue to talk.
"---Stop challenging fate before it's too late---you deserve to be happy---surprising isn't it? From a bard who keeps on blabbing horse shite all the bloody time---well, I'm tired of being with a brooding witcher! If it means to be with a rat forever just for you to stop being cantankerous then I'm accepting the sacrifice!"
The bard's voice echoed across the meadow, combining along with the chirping of birds and the strong breeze of the morning wind. Roach was sniffing Geralt when he'd heard that soft padded footsteps jumping down their stairs in a hurried manner. He'd given Jaskier a disappointed look of his golden peepers; his plan now ruined that he would leave without bidding goodbye because of one bard that could always get under his skin for no reason.
"You were saying, bard?"
You were out of the threshold in no time. Hair in a tangled mess from your previous nightly adventures; along with your painted skin that had witcher bites, looking gauche from wearing Geralt's large tunic that ended on your knees with nothing under and a pout drawn to your face as you ran barefoot along the meadow, wildly screaming his name.
"Geralt-of-fucking-Rivia!" you panted and whined, never believing that he was leaving without any form of goodbyes, "---Don’t you dare step a foot! I swear to God, I will cut your majestic white hair when you walk away and I’ll never make you my special ale anymore!"
The threat was loud enough for him to cease his footsteps; plans of irritating you further would never be a good idea especially that he was leaving for a hunt.
Palms upon your knee, you stood in front of the frowning witcher wearing his black, leather full gear armor; heaving deep pathetic breaths as your hauled over yourself, raising a hand to stop him from leaving.
When you've finally caught your breath, you promptly straightened your back; letting him see your swollen eyes due to sleeping late with probably morning dew slipping a few off the ends of your eyes. He affectionately caught sight of your upset ones; displeased from his sudden flee.
"How dare you leave when you know I don't wake up early like this?---and leaving without a hug!? Seriously, Geralt?!" you declared, obviously unsettled from being fucked the night after without waking you up to say that he was about to leave you for days in a world you hardly know about?
"---What if I don't get to see you again?"
Questions after questions, you demanded answers from Geralt in which it shall never be received based on how he simply watched you raved, feeling the discomfort and worry of leaving his family alone, "What if you never come back?" it sounded like you were thoroughly agonizing over the idea. You started to fret, toes feeling the moist pasture land over the soles of your feet; bringing you more concern.
"---What if I've been kidnapped or something?!"
Geraly shook his head, mouth in a tight thin line as he interrupted, "You're never leaving the house, midget. You need to take care of Cirilla," he let go of Roach's reigns to place his arms on either side of him, his tone more passive than yours, the words he told held more meaning as if he was giving a lot more trust than he can ever do by letting you handle the responsibility for his child of surprise even just for days.
The point simply tells you that he wasn't treating like you were his possession after admitting his feelings. Geralt was acting like a father and a husband for making you feel that way over supporting what he does for a living.
Just the act itself made you reach out for Geralt's hand, tightly clutching it in both of yours like you didn't want him to leave because you were feeling a little agitated for no reason. Overthinking always does take a toll on you. But often times, these female intuitions you have were correct for whatever bad feelings you were having.
Geralt closed his fist to subtly caress the back of your hand as Jaskier tried to convince and pour ice to your anxiety filled head, "Small rat, those are only predictions. He won't die yet. You're talking to a 100 year old witcher and you're frightened that he wouldn't come back alive?"
You face suddenly morphed into confusion, giving Jaskier a look of puzzlement. 100 years old? Geralt never looked that old to you, maybe his face was pretty much mature than yours but his features tells that he was around 30'ish and above, a lot more older than you nevertheless.
Geralt was still quiet as he continued to brush his thumb over the back of your hand. No objection was received and so, you believed Jaskier's words were true. Yet, his age never made you uneasy nor made you want to run for the hills. He was still Geralt. Your mean looking, soft-hearted witcher. More human than any other man can ever be.
He was yours. Only yours; and you needed to bite your tongue from saying words that would taser your heart from being unanswered.
"Wait---what--- you're a 100 years old?!?!----anyway, Geralt---!!" Geralt only hummed in dissatisfaction for Jaskier's existence in their world.
You peered up at the witcher with a fretful beam, your nose scrunching from feeling too worried for him when he goes out to hunt for his monsters; remembering what stories he told and the scars you've seen on his body. It was making your heart feel heavy, and Geralt wasn't a simpleton to not know nor feel how concerned you were for him.
It's been a long time since he's ever had someone making him feel all sorts of things and the doubled up emotions was making it more uncontrollable for the feelings he had for you.
"In our world, when a person leaves, they always bid their goodbyes!" Geralt drowsily blinked back at you, an utter soft flicker in his eyes that made your heart turn to mush.
Your eyes were hopeful as you asked, "---now, where's mine?"
You've let go of his hand, timidly standing before him with your frail arms on either side; wiggling your bare toes on the grass as you shyly waited for his reaction. Was it too much to ask even just a kiss before he goes?
"Goodbye, midget." the white wolf gravelly rasped, insincerity dripping in his tone because he didn't like bidding goodbyes to people he would still get to see again. The words seemed to be bitter for his taste, his farewell totally feigned because he was never going to leave for good. You've seen a tiny slip of his fangs as he talked and tried to regret what he said.
"---though, I doubt I meant that because I am not leaving for good,"
His reaction made you want to jump in a hole and just talk to yourself instead. Your face fell at that and Jaskier was found silently wincing from what the witcher has interpreted. He would rather bask in his own laughter and silence by himself than be punched by Geralt. So, he did; snorting a chuckle as he continued to eavesdrop and watched you both in a conversation.
Though, the bard's laughter was momentarily ceased when Geralt sent him a scowl.
"Why am I---why are witchers idiots? why are you an idiot sometimes?!"
Jaskier was known to be brave for even deciding to be Geralt's travel companion before; having the freedom to annoy him and never gotten the chance to end up beheaded or served as a meal for monsters. He was the only person who Geralt could handle no matter how he brings problems and for how annoying he can become.
However, at some point; they've gotten into a huge fight and it was intense. Luckily, they were on good terms right now after being separated.
"I second the notion, small rat!" the toubadour jested with a grin; Geralt's lack of knowledge about romantic gestures entertaining him.
You palmed your face in fluster and from the frustration; seeming more difficult to say what you truly wanted because Jaskier was close enough to hear what you could ask. A frown etched your face, grouching before the witcher like a kid that has never been given a big swirling rainbow lollipop.
"I didn't meant that! I meant---I meant---!"
You were stammering as you stood rooted on the ground, glancing up at Geralt while subtly pointing to your pouted lips. He calmly breathed out his frustrations from not understanding you prior before. But, the way his golden eyes lit up, sparkling beneath the sun's rays made you see that he knew what you meant.
His eyes were like diamonds twinkling under the sun and it always leaves you bewitched.
He has given Jaskier another grimace before humming back at you in comprehension, "A buss." His mouth curled in a small smile before you've seen him give you a gesture with his hand; urging you to come closer.
"Come ere'. You should've been more specific, midget."
Geralt slung an arm around your hips, his armor hitting your skin with soft clungs; pulling you closer to him as he leaned down to your height, catching your ajar lips in between his as he puckered to give you the most tender kiss you've received, taking you breath away like how he always does.
He'd kissed the tips of your vermillion, feeling like the other piece of your heart has been put together; making you feel complete. Satisfied. With the sudden life that was given to you when you woke up in the middle of the forest, having no idea how you've been transported.
But, experiencing no obstacles in their world from the time being was making you feel jittery because you knew life didn't work that way. It always leads you into an ocean, making you drown in impediments that can assuredly take the happiness away from you in just a flash.
You knew something was about to happen because fate always leads you in that position. It was like it wanted you to taste what contentment in life would be before snatching it out of your hands.
What would your fate bring you in their world?
Geralt has pulled away in the slightest amount. The tips of your vermillion brushing against his as your heart felt heavier to feel his warmth around you; not liking the concept of your witcher away because of certain reasons you couldn't explain. Faint voices has woken you up from your slumber, forewarning about him leaving you; urging for Geralt not to go which took you to run out of the door in your disheveled state.
He lightly gave you a kiss on the tips of your nose; your mouth frowned at that no matter how your heart slightly fluttered from the soft gesture. Geralt straightened his back as he has given Jaskier a knowing look. Jaskier unconsciously has given him a subtle roll of his eyes, feeling that he was being cocky for showing that he had the freedom to kiss you like that. It was how Geralt could define his repartee and Jaskier swore that he got one point of having the upper hand from the surprising physical display of affection.
"Difficult...to be lovers with a 100 year old witcher, won't you say?" he sent the message to you and sounded like he wanted to sulk but he covered the tone with a feigned cough.
Light hurried footfall came falling behind. The Ashen haired child announced her appearance with a look of nausea; her nose twisted in distaste for what she saw because she had already been watching you three in a distance.
"Ugh, gross." she joked, quickly replacing her abhorrence with a genuine smile, "---Is this how disgusting it is to see a child's parents kiss?"
Everybody turned to look at her, the arm that has snaked around you was now gone as you also looked at the princess with a bewildered expression for what she'd said. Nobody dared to object nor concur to what they've heard, only reticence.
But, not for Jaskier. He'd called Cirilla out for saying those words unexpectedly.
"So, you're calling them your parents now? Mother? Father?---and me?"
The lion cub of Cintra raised a sardonic brow as she tightly crossed her arms over her chest, tone all jest and playful as she commented, "---Which leads to you, bard." she abruptly paused to make it sound more intriguing as she spat, "---a dust mite in the household."
Cirilla took several steps closer to Geralt, making you fall back to give them time together. You've given them both a loving smile to indicate that you loved seeing them interact all the time because of how compassionate he was over his child, such a fatherly thing he appeared to be like, with the princess finding comfort and protection in his arms as she stepped closer to give the witcher a big, bear hug that he certainly didn't think twice to accept.
"Take care, Geralt. More than ever--please do come back,”
You eyed Geralt who was hugging Cirilla, your smile turning wider than ever as you lively jested among the affectionate scene you were seeing from a father and daughter.
"Is this the part where we should give you a group hug?---Okay! Okay! I'm joining!" Cirilla wholly accepted the idea of that and pulled your arm to surround beside her and Geralt; his hand immediately falling on your side, grabbing you closer once you were pulled by the pretty child.
The giggles that he heard from you both has lifted a smile on his brooding, sharp features. He lowly hummed in content before lifting his eyes off his girls in his arms to glance at Jaskier who seemed to suddenly be out of humor.
"Bard." he gruffly called out, amused from how the troubadour was despondent from the whole thing happening. Geralt gave an audible huff, alarming Jaskier because he knew what he was thinking. The witcher was thinking how pathetic he was looking to be so withdrawn over the abrupt embraces under the newly emerging morning sun.
"A dust mite mustn't interfere with a family group hug---oof! This is harassment!"
Jaskier was strongly pulled by Geralt who took no complaints over the embosom he was in, puffing out a frustrated breath as he tried to pull back from the embrace but had no choice when the witcher was using his strength, his hand behind the poet. His slight struggle painless for him. He gave the bard a strong pat on the back that made him cough out on how his lungs hurt from the sudden attack.
His grapples were cut short when you've placed your palm just below Geralt's; giving Jaskier a hug as well. Your touch felt unexpected as the white wolf heard his sudden heart palpitations over the subtle brush of your fingers on his friend.
Geralt knew, but not you.
Jaskier will be fine. If this was the only affectionate gesture that he could get you in, so be it. His unrequited affection will go away slowly, he hoped.
The white wolf's departure haven't lasted for a day till you were low spirited enough to stare out onto the windows, sitting on the stoned sill of the windows. Your viewpoint giving such reverence over how immeasurable their world could offer. From trees to the core of their land certainly looked earthy to you. A facsimile of what your world has been. Do they have oceans too? Noodles? Oh, you definitely wanted noodles for thinking about it.
Kaedwen. It was what their kingdom is called. You've also heard about Nilfgaard. Novigrad. But, you have no idea as to what it looks like rather than the kingdom of Kaedwen that looks no good like how you imagined Switzerland to be if you were talking about how the government treats their people.
Humans were treated poorly and even to the point of selling themselves as slaves; remembering what you have heard and saw while walking around the marketplace back then. They were living in dirt and striving to live with the ones who were abundant, seeing like they could never surpass to be cared for like they were humans.
Their government are treating them like garbage. The medieval movies you've watched were real because you also remember how you were close to being sold by a nobleman because no one knew who you were; having no name or a bloodline that could save you from being abjected.
Except for Geralt who needed to create a bloodbath just for you to live. The act alone has probably given him a violation against their law because of how he'd killed knights or people. Or was it legal for it happen?
You were staring far too long out in the open; waiting for your witcher to come back. What if he was away to probably find the sorceress that could bring you back home? Or better yet, what if he did find Yennefer and comes back choosing her instead because you're too dependent over him. His tiny mortal who always needed saving?
What if he gets tired of you? will he throw you away just like how people treat their lovers in earth when they're bored of each other?
What if you've just existed in their dimension because you were needed to fill the empty gap of Geralt's heart until he finds the sorceress?
You've asked Jaskier about it the past few days ago which has left your heart in a disgruntled mess when you've had answers over his relationships he never tells about.
"So, Yennefer, huh?" you've followed Jaskier out of the house. Nightfall was about to come by soon and Geralt wasn't around as he left with no words. The bard jogged through the end of the meadow till he'd reach the edge of the vast forest, twigs and branches breaking apart from every step when you've trailed behind him with a bothered heart.
"What?---Oh! You're asking me who she is?" Jaskier crouched to pick up blocks of wood that will cover up the whole night full of brisk as darkness was bound to visit soon. You hugged yourself to calm down the goosebumps that rose your skin when the cold hits you,"---Would you want a simplified explanation or a detailed one?"
You thought for a moment before feeling your heart beat ringing in your ears. It was that loud for the anticipation running in your veins for how curious you were about Geralt and a vision of his past, "The simplified one,"
Jaskier continued his rummaging, picking up woods after woods as he nonchalantly tittle-tattled, "She's a strong, fierce sorceress. Nice too because she's helped me out of a curse but also kind of rude to me---I am not biased just because of the whole crow’s feet ordeal---they've shared quests and I've been there to witness how they connect with each other. However, their relationship has lots of ups and downs. They've somehow find each other no matter what happens back in the decades except for now."
Your throat felt like there was some phantom hands trying to choke you; constantly bickering back to tell how strong and powerful she was that they've shared tales and adventures. It was downing over your head about how much of a burden you have been to Geralt, the constant feeling of your relationship with him being the cause of the responsibility he had for taking you because he had no other choice that he was the first person you've encountered.
You were definitely the most useless amongst his prior lovers.
He shrieked when a large bug has flew over his face, flicking them away with his hands as he threw his arms around; trying to hit the bug with a block of wood as he continued to talk, "---Move away, you shite of a bug!---Geralt stopped finding her due to reasons I have no clue about and because he needed to avoid people at all costs---but---oh, gods. It’s quite difficult to explain,"
Jaskier has gathered all the wood he needed. You've reach out to help him carry the blocks but before you could even touch them, he'd stepped away and walked around you as he continue to speak, "Oh, and about Renfri; don't bother nor think about it."
He heard your footfalls following him back to the meadow and even heard you exclaim, "Why?"
"She's reached her demise. Explains why Geralt has a moniker named the 'butcher of Blaviken'. Ended up killing her to save an ignoble child named Masha---Martha---Marilka?! Oh, whatever! He chose that to save the innocent lives of people instead. He never told you that?"
Your felt the needles poking through your chest because of how naive it felt to know nothing about it, also feeling sad about her early demise. You've remembered how Geralt ceased his stories when he'd reach the part where he went to a town named Blaviken; not even bothering to tell you that he has met a woman named Renfri and somehow had such hapless fate between them both.
You felt foolish. Ignorant over a story that was never told. Hence, it was enough to turn that smile upside down as you quietly muttered, "No."
Jaskier stopped walking, waiting for you to catch up as you stood beside him with a frown. He'd given you the twinkle of his pretty baby blue eyes with a sympathetic smile as he uttered, "That's never new, though. It's understandable. I've experienced it too, don't worry. Geralt has always been Geralt. He rarely becomes loquacious,"
You've crossed your arms behind your back, your fingers fidgeting; nails scratching your palm from how you were feeling the tiny prickle of your nerves telling that you weren't in the best part of your brain. The dragging feeling on your chest adding more weight from the start that Jaskier has opened his mouth to chat.
"He does that for anyone, huh? Saving people, I mean."
Jaskier was oblivious about how you've turned your head away to anxiously nibble on your lower lip. He was incognizant over your disappointed mental breakdown of your own self because he went on to simply tell, "No matter how he says that he doesn't want to be involved nor desires for anyone needing him. He still saves them because---"
You immediately cut him off, swallowing the tight knot in your throat, looking at him in the eye with a disheartened gaze, "He doesn't want people needing him?"
"Geralt never liked it. But, guess what brought you here! You! Even had the chance of needing Geralt because you were lost and vulnerable. Was it out of pity? I---I---No. No. Definitely not out...of...pity?"
When the moment he'd seen your eyes, Jaskier was quick to know that he made the wrong choice of words and even the topic to tell. He gave an awkward grin, instantly regretting what he said when you've shifted those eyes to look away.
"Why did they never see each other again?"
The bard has cursed himself repeatedly inside his mind, praying to the gods that you won't be mad at Geralt when he comes home because him and Cirilla didn't need another chance of being surrounded by the silence eating them up when you both are having misunderstandings or issues about each other.
"The witcher has made mistakes. He let her slip away. They've parted after a pretty intense fight."
He'd pretty much simplified everything, sounding like he told it to you in bullet form and left you alone in the middle of the field as he ran back inside. Though, it was too late. You've heard what is needed to know and the discomfort that dropped inside your stomach felt like these feelings you had for Geralt was already serious.
It was definitely too late because you've lately realized that liking him wasn't the correct term. Love felt better and deeper.
Soft knocking has pulled you off your reverie which has made you blink as you swiftly turned your head to see a child whom you also have a soft heart for. This child that has no idea why she was being persecuted---or maybe you were the person who had no thought again as to what reason and purpose does Nilfgaard want from her because honestly, all you could see from her was a child who had nobody left behind for her to console. If it wasn't for Geralt, she probably would have been taken by the people who want her.
You narrowed your gaze and gave her a bit of your scrutiny, angling your head in a way that tells the child you were trying to look through her. Did she have some sort of magic too? Was she a mutant too?
"Mum'?---will it be alright for me to call you that? I--I---I don't want to call you rat or midget," she tried to call you for the third time. Her bright cobalt eyes buoyant as she wend one's way, ceasing before you with a tight-lipped smile.
"I'm sorry, what did you just say?" you softly pardoned with a sweet smile.
The princess couldn't help but bashfully give a beam, conscious if you've said that because you didn't want to be called that way. But, she gave no second doubts and repeated her questions again; anxiously and hopeful to undertake.
"Can I call you Mum'? Everybody has a nickname for you and also considering how you've started taking care of me---with---with Geralt now deeming as your beloved..." she trailed off in the middle of her sentence and you waited for her to continue but it was intentionally left to be dithered.
Heat traveled towards your cheeks. The princess wanted to call you 'Mum'? you silently questioned yourself. Your heart beat was racing from being accepted by his child of surprise, sounding like she wanted you to be her mother and seeing her fret before you made you think that she would gladly be your daughter as long as you were comfortable.
"Beloved? Right! Right! You can call me anything you want, Ciri."
The affirmation made her give you a toothy grin. Cirilla didn't think twice and merrily cajoled with a small hop of her feet that were close against each other, "Great, Mum'! Can you teach me how to bake?---maybe a cake---oh! Or a very scrumptious bread!?"
Your sullen features have been promptly lifted on the spot. You've grasped onto what she wanted, a distraction from how apprehensive she seemed to be like from the way her heels tap on the stone floor and to the way her forehead was slightly creased like she was on pins and needles. The princess was even worried because Geralt wasn't around to guard anyone in the household.
Her wrist was quickly snatched by you, pulling her out of your chambers and running through the hallway, towards down the stairs with heavy, excited thumps.
"Of course! would you like me to teach you how I'd baked blueberry muffins from the other night?"
The lion cub of Cintra hummed in mirth, nodding behind despite of knowing you couldn't see her as you pulled her around. Your eyes scanned the first floor of the house to see Kolby snuffling the front door with Jaskier no where to be seen.
You passed by the newly fixed table; knowing that Geralt ended up fastening back what was ruined. Trying to whisk your head away, you did you best not to feel the warmth spread over your face. Toes were lifted up to the highest as you reached for the door of the cupboards to see the bowls all gone when the last time you remembered; the white wolf has changed the position of plates in a much lower level for your sake.
Jaskier was just intentionally doing it right now and it made your blood boil for his constant teasing.
"I'm going to strangle that bard. I swear to Thor; I hope he hits Jaskier with a lightning---where did he even place all the bowls again?!" you complained more so to yourself as Cirilla was left standing on your side, waiting for your next command.
You've gestured with your hand, making her stay inside the kitchen while you walked away. The Hirikka suddenly howling out of the blue when you jogged towards the front door, stepping out of the threshold as Kolby followed suit.
"Jaskier?!" a loud yell echoed as you called at the top of your voice; seeing no bard anywhere.
Kolby unexpectedly sprinted, running off your side as he turned along the path around the house where the back door lead to.
You groaned out loud, strolling to where the Hirikka went, "Jaskier! Will you please tell me where---Jaskier!"
An ear-piercing shriek left your lips. Heart stopped from beating, your blood running cold as you were filled with panic and fear from seeing Jaskier hunkered down in the middle of chevaliers circling him like he was being tyrannized.
Armored gallants sat on their horses, their helmets taken off their faces which has given you images of what they looked like. A mixture of different ethnicity that you were well aware of back in earth. But, they've shared gazes in their eyes that placed you in a horrified position that tells everything was about to go down and it wasn't just Jaskier hunched on the ground.
When he heard your footsteps, he was pleading that you wouldn't actually visit the back part of the house but seeing Kolby safeguarding as he stood in front of you; thoroughly feral and livid for visitors that weren't invited at all, Jaskier knew all hell was about to break lose.
"A liar, bard." you've heard that voice back in the marketplace, a timbre you didn't wish to hear ever again as it haunts you with memories that he was a mystical being and the person who has stabbed you to bleed.
"The witcher didn't bring his little woman all along," Tybalt's breath fanned your ears, making you hastily step away from the vampire with your eyes all wide from the spine-chilling memory that gets you shunning away. Kolby was rapid enough to slip in between the uncomfortable space that Tybalt has locked you in, all predatory and wild as the movement made you stumble down beside Jaskier.
You've coughed out from being accidentally pushed to the ground, the knights of Kaedwen stepping back to include you in the tyranny of hopeless pleading. The bard's lip was wounded. Broken. Bleeding. Claret colored liquid painting his teeth which tells that they've been bashing him for quite some painful minutes. His doublet untidy and disordered from their constant forceful pulling.
"Rat," he weakly groused, holding onto his battered stomach. Jaskier tightly blinked the dirt out of his eyes as he spitefully spat the blood, wiping the blood off his busted lip with the back of his hand. His golden dagger tightly on his palm as he ceaselessly jested. The words coming out of his lips sounding familiar as you remembered you've said it to him before in the middle of being taken.
"---You had one job."
NO UPDATE FOR THIS UPCOMING JUNE 27, BB’S! I’mma take a break! (Or not because I always end up opening my drafts and try to write lmao) I’ll probably write the future chapters for everyone and so, I won’t get stuck on procrastinating before school starts in about after 2 months. LMAO. I get anxious when I think about this fic being unfinished due to random reasons because I don’t want that. FEEDBACKS ARE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! (Strikethrough means I couldn’t tag you)

Exodus 39:1-40:38, Mark 1:1-28, Psalms 35:1-16, Proverbs 9:11-12
Today is the 15th day of February welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is a joy and privilege to be here with you today as we put...put our foot out and take the next step forward into the week, into the month, into the year, and into the Bible. So, we will be concluding the book of Exodus today so this will be our final reading in the book of Exodus for this year. We concluded the first of the Gospels, which was the gospel of Matthew yesterday. So, when we get to the New Testament today, we will be encountering our…well…our first change of pace in the New Testament, but we are still in the section of the New Testament known as the Gospels. And we will be beginning the gospel of Mark in a little bit. But we'll talk about that when we get there. First, Exodus chapters 39 and 40 and we’re reading from the Common English Bible this week.
Introduction to the gospel of Mark:
Okay. This brings us to the second gospel in the Bible, although it is probably the first gospel written in time. This is the gospel of Mark. And the Mark that we believe wrote the gospel of Mark was not a disciple of Jesus. He wasn’t one of the 12. He wasn't an apostle, like the apostle Paul either. Really, he would been more a disciple of the apostle Peter. So, we seem to see Mark show up in the book of Acts which obviously we haven’t gotten to yet. But there he's known as John Mark. And he lived in Jerusalem. He came from a seemingly wealthy family. They owned a home in Jerusalem. His mom's name was Mary, and…and she had a servant named Rhoda. Mary was one of the early believers and she opened her home to other early believers. And some of our church traditions...there are…there’s thinking that her home may have been the place that contained the upper room. Like, she had an upstairs to her home where there wasn't upper room where the Holy Spirit was poured out on the early believers after the ascension of Jesus, but also where Jesus had his last supper. So, Mark was around all this pretty much his whole life, even as a boy. So, as the story goes, Peter was captured by Herod and we’ll resist the story when we get a little bit deeper into the New Testament. And Herod planned to execute Peter because he had put other Christians to death and had seemed to please the people. And, so, he was, you know Peter was a ringleader. And, so, he’s planning to put Peter to death. So, he's in prison. But an angel comes and frees Peter from jail and it's to John Mark's house, right, to Mary's large home that Peter first came. And all the believers were there at that house praying for Peter's freedom for his life, pleading to God for his life. And that prayer was answered. And, so, Peter’s sprung from jail and he comes to the house, he knocks on the door, the servant girl Rhoda comes to the door and she sees him and it’s like she can’t believe it’s him. So, she slams the door in his face, and then she goes in and let’s all the other believers know, “like, apparently Peter's outside.” And we’ll get to that story, we’ll like…we’ll give it its due when we actually come to it, but this gives us a little bit of a background just a little essence of who Mark is. And, so, Mark's been around the gospel of Jesus Christ his whole life. His cousins name is Barnabas, who is a dear friend of the apostle Paul. It's Mark the goes with Barnabas and Paul on Paul's first missionary journey. So, this isn’t like somebody who doesn't know what's going on. This is somebody with a bit of a pedigree, and it's believed through the traditions of the church that…that…that John Mark became a disciple of the apostle Peter, travelled all over with him, and even serves as an interpreter for him in Italy, especially in Rome. And everywhere that Peter goes, and we’ll see this after the Holy Spirit's coming, this transforms Peter so radically that he becomes a very powerful teacher of the gospel and he teaches the gospel of Jesus everywhere he goes. And, so, John Mark's heard Peter's testimony over and over everywhere they go. And, so, it's basically thought that what Mark writes down in the gospel of Mark is largely the testimony of the apostle Peter, the things that the apostle Peter was teaching about Jesus while he traveled around. It's also believed and there's a like pretty strong consensus that…that Mark is indeed the first of the Gospels written that we have in the New Testament and that Mark and Matthew, the gospel that we just read, and then Luke, the one that we will read next after Mark, like that's not confusing enough, that these three really share a lot of commonality. In fact, they’re known as the synoptic Gospels because they share so much of the same material. And it’s believed that Mark is the original, the very first written testimony of the life of Jesus Christ. And, you know, language scholars will look at the Greek in the book of Mark and, you know, consider it pretty primitive, not…it’s not particularly grammatically correct it…it…it…seems as if maybe more written by like somebody whose mother tongue isn’t Greek or that it is poorly educated, can barely write. It’s more like, you know, like a school kid’s grammar. But there’s a charm in the simplicity. And, so, let's dive in to the second of the four Gospels that we will encounter in the New Testament, the gospel of Mark chapter 1 verse 1 through verse 28.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for these days that we’re in right now, that we’re transitioning into new territory in both Old and new Testaments. We began the gospel of Mark today and Holy Spirit come. We feel like we've heard these stories maybe our whole lives. Let us hear them as if we've never heard them before, let us hear them fresh, let us understand like we’re gonna move through the four Gospels and this is our time to walk alongside Jesus to learn. And, so, Holy Spirit, quicken us. Make us awake and aware of what You are leading us to understand as we continue forward in the gospel of Mark. And we concluded the…the book of Exodus today, a very dramatic story of the end of slavery and the story beginning in the wilderness where identities are being shifted and complete new culture is being created there in the wilderness. And, so, as we prepare to move forward into the book of Leviticus tomorrow, we invite Your Holy Spirit. Again, draw us to what we need to know. Draw us to what we need to see and understand. Give us eyes to see and ears to hear, that we…that we may become fully awake and fully aware in this year of going through the Bible, so that we end this year and can never look at anything the same again because we’ve been transformed. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Good morning Daily Audio Bible this is Sharon in Southern California I just heard the prayer request from I think she said her name was Latasha, she's a young mom with children and she's having housing issues. I just wanted to say Psalms 27:14 says wait on the Lord, be of good courage and he shall strengthen thine heart. Wait I say on the Lord. The Lord is with you always and He will grant you the answer to your prayers. Stay steadfast and wait for him to answer. I know I've been through the same situation, not knowing which way to turn. Don't let anyone force you or manipulate you into a decision you don't want to make. I know it's not easy and it's…it's difficult to wait because you see pressure on every side, but I promise you the Lord will answer, and He will guide you. I'm praying for you in your situation and I'm sure a lot of us here on the DAB are also praying for you knowing that the Lord will answer your prayer. Lord, in the name of Jesus I pray that her situation is fixed and done just as You want it to be and let Your will be done in her life and in her situation. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Hello family this is your brother Chad from Jomo and I was calling today February 11th is the Bible reading and brother Brian was just…said something pretty profound and yet oddly so simple. That's his normal way. I love it. But he was saying we can take what we're reading today, let it go in one ear out the other and then go back into the chaos of the day or and / or…or we can take what we read today and…and let it bring us peace, let it bring…bring us answers, let it bring us another way to deal with this crazy life that's going on around us right now. Just…just it's all about growing. I'll take the “or” Brian. I'm so sick and tired of taking the “and” man. I'm doing __ . I'm…I'm…not one that lets the word go in one ear out the other, but I do have a tendency of letting the world wash over me and silence the wonderful word I've taken in for the day. It's like by the end of the day it’s like I forgot what I've learned at the beginning of the day in God's word. And I find that to be a great shame, that there's just so much going on that…that's taking our attention away, that’s sidetracking us. or just beating us down. And we need to stay focused on the Lord family. He is our guide. He can handle it man. He's got the broad shoulders man. We, I need to learn to stop trying to take it on myself. I…I never mean too. I always mean to leave it in God's hands and yet I found myself carrying this stuff around that I don't need to be carrying this extra luggage. So, family give it to the Lord today. He can do all things in Jesus’ name. I love you family. My time is up. Have a blessed week. Brother Chad from Jomo.
Hi guys it's Luke from Australia, first-time caller. I've only been listening to DAB four since the beginning of the year listening to the daily devotional and I can say I am loving it, OK. It is awesome to just be able to listen to the Bible and…and how Brian reads it, explains it, prays. It’s just awesome and I'm sure we all notice that. I just felt honored to touched to call in and let you guys know that it is an honor to be part of a family such as DAB family, the community and…and the love and support that is on here is just awesome. My mom introduced me to DAB beginning of this year, end of last year. And I can't get enough of it. So, thank you mum. And yeah, keeping all of you in my prayers. And let's have a good year this year. Alright. Love you all. Bye.
Hey family, Darrell calling from Atlanta and I do not use word family lightly at all. I absolutely celebrate the fact that we're all brothers and sisters, we’re God's family. and I know that sometimes that can be cliché-ish if that's a word, but it's not. It's the truth. We read God’s word, Brian reads it to us every day, which Brian I love you man. I'm going on my third year and I can't possibly thank you enough, this is a phenomenal thing you're doing here. But God's word tells us all over the place that we're family, we’re His kids and you are my brothers and you're my sisters and I greatly appreciate you coming on here every day. And I I've called in I think one time before for prayer. I've called in several times just to encourage but today I'm absolutely asking for prayer. There is a cousin's fiancé who very recently was battling what they thought was Covid. He is a young healthy man of 25. Again, he's a cousin’s…cousin of mine, his…her fiancé. His name is Davy. I am asking you today is a critical day. This is a critical time for him. Please pray. They've ruled out Covid. They've tested him three times and yet his lungs are filling up with fluid. He has double pneumonia in they don't know what's going on. Critical prayers today. It's getting very serious. Again 25 years old, healthy otherwise Davvy. Please pray that God would remove the fluid in his lungs, replace it with the air, and restore him to the way God created his body to be and to function and that God would direct the doctors and open their eyes. Thank you so much, guys.
Hi, I'm just…my name is Rebecca from Canada I'm just sending in a prayer for Latasha from California. I just felt like the Lord wanted me to…to pray for community over you. So, yeah Lord we just thank you so much that that she called in and gave her situation about the housing and the frustration that that's been. So, Lord we just pray for wisdom Lord, that You would just direct her in the right path, that she would know what she needs to do and yeah Lord that You would have favor with the management, that there would just be breakthrough in this area. And Lord we also just pray that You would just surround her with good community so that she would know that she's not alone, Father that she would have just new friends, Father that would just come around her and encourage her and support her and her family. And we thank You Lord that You see herm and You see what's going on and Lord that You’re a God of provision. So, we just ask for provision in this area Lord, that she would know that her and her family are taking care of and cared for by You Lord and that she knows she's not alone and that we care for her here at the Daily Audio Bible and all across the world we're praying for her. Thanks.
Good afternoon Daily Audio Bible this is Tracy Baker calling auto Fort Worth TX calling to applaud Janelle in China. I heard your…your call in this morning and it really touched me because we take for granted when we don't have and aren’t truly thankful for what we do have. Me for one, my job is very stressful. I'm expected to do a whole lot that is not actually in my field and its stuff that I really don't care to do and with no formal training as well. So, I'm muddling through it as best as I can, but it is so so stressful to be doing something that I'm not really wanting to do though and paid very well for it. But, you know, money isn't everything. So, again you know, and like Janelle says I'm very thankful that I do have a job as…as…as it were. So, thank you very much Janelle for giving me that reminder to be thankful for what we do have. Have a great day.

~는지 (A Clause of Uncertainty)
By placing ~는지 at the end of a clause, you can indicate that the clause is some sort of guess, question or uncertainty. A common situation where there is uncertainty is when there is a question word in a sentence.
저는 친구가 어디 가는 것을 몰르겠어요 = I don’t know where my friend is going
What don’t you know? You don’t know the noun within the brackets:
저는 (친구가 어디 가는 것을) 몰르겠어요 = I don’t know (where my friend is going)
Because “친구가 어디 가는 것” is uncertain, ~는지 should be added to the clause instead of ~는 것.
저는 친구가 어디 가는지 몰르겠어요 = I don’t know where my friend is going
By default, if a clause contains a question word (누구, 뭐, 언제, 어디, 왜, etc…) ~는지 is usually added due to the uncertainty that it contains.
엄마가 누구랑 먹지는 모르겠어요 = I don’t know who mom is eating with 엄마가 뭐 먹는지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know what mom is eating 엄마가 어디서 먹는지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know where mom is eating 엄마가 왜 먹는지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know why mom is eating
However, a question word does not need to be included in order to use ~는지. All that is needed is uncertainty in the sentence. When there is no question word in a sentence with ~는지, the English word “if” is usually used.
엄마가 지금 먹고 있는지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know if mom is eating now
Also, the final word of the sentence does not need to be 모르다. Any verb or adjective that makes sense along with the preceding uncertain clause can be used.
그 사람을 왜 데려오는지 물어봤어요 = I asked him why he is bringing that person 우리는 비상출입구가 어디 있는지 찾았어요 = We found where the emergency exit is 해안까지 어떻게 가는지 물어봤어요 = I asked how to get to the beach/coast 엄마가 무슨 재료를 쓰고 있는지 모르겠어 = I don’t know what ingredients mom is using 정부가 외국인 선생님 예산을 왜 줄이는지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know why the government is decreasing the budget for foreign teachers 학생들은 선생님들이 돈을 얼마나 버는지 몰라요 = Students don’t know how much money teachers earn 저는 그 학생이 어느 대학교를 다니는지 기억(이) 안 나요 = I don’t remember which university that student attends
Past tense
The same concept can be used to indicate a guess, question or uncertainty in the past tense. In order to express this, ~았/었는지 should be added to the verb at the end of the uncertain clause.
엄마가 왜 먹었는지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know why mom ate
~았/었는지 is officially correct, but in speech, it is common to hear ~ㄴ/은지 used instead.
엄마가 왜 먹은지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know why mom ate
There really isn’t any difference between the two sets of sentences, especially in speech, and both sound natural. However, the correct grammatical form is ~았/었는지, and ~ㄴ/은지 is more used in spoken Korean.
그 셔츠를 언제 버렸는지 기억이 안 나요 = I don’t remember when I threw away that shirt 열쇠를 어디 두었는지 잊어버렸어요 = I forget where I put my keys 우리가 이것을 언제 정했는지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know when we set it 그기 저에게 무슨 말을 전했는지 기억이 안 나요 = = I don’t remember what that person told me (conveyed to me)
Future tense
The same concept can be used to indicate a guess, question or uncertainty in the future tense. In order to express this, ~ㄹ/을지 should be added to the verb at the end of the uncertain clause.
택배가 언제 올지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know when the delivery will come 용돈을 얼마나 줄지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know how much allowance I should give 오후에 비가 올지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know if it will rain in the afternoon 수술을 받을지 확실하지 핞아요 = It is not certain if I will get surgery 내일 공원에 갈지 모르겠어 = I don’t know if I will go to the park tomorrow 내일 영화를 볼지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know if I will see a movie tomorrow
When the uncertain clause doesn’t have a question word in it, it is common to use the word “might” in the English translation.
내일 오후에 비가 올지 모르겠어요 = It might rain in the afternoon tomorrow 수술을 받을지 모르겠어요 = I might get surgery 내일 공원에 갈지 모르겠어요 = I might go to the park tomorrow 내일 영화를 볼지 모르겠어요 = I might see a movie tomorrow
The Korean usage of ~ㄹ/을지 몰라요 just indicates that something may or may not happen. Both translations above (“I don’t know if” and “might…”) indicate that something may or may not happen. The nuance of using ~ㄹ/을지 몰라요 can translate to many things in English, all which (as a result of being a completely different language) cannot perfectly describe this nuance.
~ㄴ/은지 with Adjectives
It is also possible to use this principle for uncertain clauses predicated by adjectives. However, instead of adding ~는지, ~ㄴ/은지 should be added.
제가 준 것이 괜찮은지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know if the thing that I gave is good 이 빛이 충분히 밝은지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know if this light is bright enough 제가 구한 아르바이트가 좋은지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know if the job I found is good 제가 가져온 재료가 충분한지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know if I brought enough materials 강아지를 기르고 싶은지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know if I want to raise a puppy 그 책은 얼마나 긴지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know how long that book is
Similar to the verb forms, use ~았/었은지 for adjectives in the past, and ~ㄹ/을지 for the future.
그 시대가 그렇게 길었는지 깨닫지 못했어요 = I didn’t realize that era was so long 그 일이 힘들지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know if that work will be difficult 내일 날씨가 쌀쌀할지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know if tomorrow’s weather will be chilly
“If… or not…”
It is possible to indicate more than one situation by using more than one verb or adjective connected to ~는지 in the sentence. The simplest way to do this is to include the opposite situation, followed by ~는지.
내일 영화를 볼지 안 볼지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know if I will see a movie tomorrow or not 수술을 받을지 안 받을지 확실하지 않아요 = It is not certain if I will get surgery or not 그가 저 말을 들었는지 안 들었는지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know if he was listening to me or not 엄마가 밥을 먹었는지 안 먹었는지 몰라요 = I don’t know if mom ate or not 제가 군 아르바으트가 좋은지 안 좋은 모르겠어요 = I don’t know if the job I found is good or not 이 금이 진짜 금인지 아닌지 알고 싶어요. = I would like to know whether or not this gold is real gold. 안에 사람이 있는지 없는지 모르겠어요. = I cannot tell whether or not someone is inside. 답이 맞는지 틀리는지 확인해 보세요. = Check whether the answer is correct or incorrect.
When dealing with non-하다 verbs (like 먹다), the verb must be repeated again to indicate “I don’t know if mom ate or not.” However, for ~하다 verbs, the sentence can usually be shortened (and is more natural) by eliminating the word before ~하다 when you say the verb the second time.
저는 엄마가 공부했는지 안 공부했는지 모르겠어요 can be shortened to 저는 엄마가 공부했는지 안 했는지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know if mom studied or not
The examples above simply use the positive and negative outcomes of the same situation. It is also possible to list two (or more) outcomes that are unrelated to each other.
내일 공원에 갈지 영화를 볼지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know if I will see a movie or go to the park tomorrow 제가 군 아르바이트가 좋은지 나쁜지 모르겠어요 = I don’t know if the (part-time) job I found is good or bad 수술을 받을지 약으로 치료할지 확실하지 않아요 = It is not certain if I will get surgery or just treat it with medicine
You can also use ~지 to form a question. For example, if you are asking somebody if they know how to do something. The most common word that finishes the sentence would be 알다.
서울에 어떻게 가는지 알아요? = Do you know how to get to Seoul? 그 단어를 어떻게 발음하는지 알아요? = Do you know how to pronounce that word? 그 학생이 책을 왜 버렸는지 알아요? = Do you know why that student threw out his book? 물을 어떻게 막는지 알아? = Do you know how to block the water?
Although in most situations, clauses with ~지 are clauses of uncertainty, there are times when ~지 represents something certain. For example, the answers to those questions:
서울에 어떻게 가는지 알아요 = I know how to get to Seoul 그 단어를 어떻게 발음하는지 알아요 = I know how to pronounce that word 그 학생이 책을 왜 버렸는지 알아요 = I know why that student threw out his book
In those examples, ~지 technically doesn’t represent something uncertain, but the use of the question word in the sentence makes it more natural to use ~지 as the noun instead of 것.
Also note that there is another way to say that one “knows how to do something” (which is more based on ability than knowing something).
“To be sure” and “to not be sure”
확실하다 means “to be sure” or “to be certain,” thus the literal translation of “to not be sure” is 확실하지 않다, but this is not commonly used in everyday Korean.
When asking someone if they are sure or certain of something, you can still use “확실해요?” or sometimes “정말이에요?” (“Are you serious?”, “Is that real?”).
However, the most natural Korean expression for “I’m not sure” is, “잘 모르겠어요” (“I don’t know well”, “I don’t know much (about it)”). It means the same as “모르겠어요” because 잘 is not necessary, but “잘 모르겠어요” has become a common and fixed expression to say “I’m not sure” or “I don’t know for sure.”
스포츠 잘 몰라요 = I don’t know about sports 이거 누구 책인지 잘 모르겠어요 = I’m not sure whose book this is 다 끝났는지 잘 모르겠어요 = I’m not sure if it all ended 서점이 내일 문을 열지 잘 모르겠어요 = I’m not sure if the bookstore will be open tomorrow 서점이 내일 문을 열 건지 잘 모르겠어요 = I’m not sure if the bookstore will be open tomorrow 어디로 갈지 잘 모르겠어요 = I’m not sure where we will go 내일 만날지 안 만날지 잘 모르겠어요 = I’m not sure if we will meet tomorrow or not 여기가 맞는지 잘 모르겠어요 = I’m not sure if this is the right place 뭘 해야 될지 잘 모르겠어요 = I am not sure what (I will) to do 이게 무슨 뜻인지 잘 모르겠어요 = I’m not sure what this means
~지도
It is common to find ~도 attached to ~지. This can have two meanings.
1. To have the “too” or “also” or “either” meaning that ~도 usually has.
저는 밥도 먹었어요 = I ate rice too 저는 밥도 안 먹었어요 = I didn’t eat rice either
This usage is more about the use of ~도 and not really related to the usage of ~지.
문을 열지도 몰라요 = You don’t even know how to open the door
2. To have very little meaning or purpose in a sentence.
Assuming ~도 isn’t being added to have the meaning described in #1 above (which is possible), the use of ~도 does not really change the sentence.
내일 비가 올지(도) 모르겠어요 = It might rain tomorrow 내일 공원에 갈지(도) 모르겠어요 = I might go to the park tomorrow
With or without it, the sentence has (effectively) the same meaning.
So when is ~도 used like this?
~도 is often added to uncertain clauses conjugated in the future tense to express one’s uncertainty of if something will happen in the future (or not)
~도 is not usually added to an uncertain clause in the past or present tense unless it is being used to have the meaning as discussed in #1 above.
~도 is not added to uncertain clauses where there is a question word in the clause. 비가 언제 올지도 모르겠어요 (unnatural) = I don’t know when it will rain or not This “rule” indicates the purpose of ~도 is somewhat closer to the “if or not” meaning. Just like how adding “or not” would be unnatural to add to the English translation, it would be unnatural to add ~도 to its Korean translation.
Again, this usage is not the usage of ~도 from #1 above. In that usage, ~도 can be added to ~는지, ~았/었는지 or ~ㄹ/을지 to have the meaning that ~도 usually possesses when it is added to nouns. It can also be added to uncertain clauses that have question words.

Really enjoying the gaeilge content rn!! Just wondering about the Ulster way of saying 'what's your name?'. I noticed you'd written it as 'cén t-ainm atá ort?' Is there a grammatical reason for the 't-' within the dialect or is it just in the speech. Just asking because I would have always said 'cén ainm atá ort?' myself
Hello! Thank you!! I’m working very hard on it. I just checked with my source for sure and whether it said your version as well. The t- is there for sure. I am not 100% sure and somebody correct me if I’m wrong, but here’s how I understand it. The -n stands for an, the definite article. It’s the same as cén chaoi a bhfuil tú. Caoi is way and it’s feminine, so that’s why its chaoi in that sentence. Ainm is masculine and begins with a vowel and therefore you have to prefix it with a t-. I could imagine that cén is maybe a contraction of cé is an?? That would make sense to me. A very good question! I never thought about it like this. If anybody with more Gaeilge linguistics background can confirm or correct me, please do! 😊

Seat Stealer
(I know Taeyong has red hair in this fic, but not in the picture. However this is the closesed I’ve come finding a gif with the vibe from this story. So please, forgive)
This is my entry for @nctwriters summer prompt challenge! I hope you guys like it.
Prompt: It’s summer break and you love it because that means the library will be totally empty for you to enjoy all to yourself. Except for the fact that when you walk in one day some really cute guy is sitting at your table.
Member: Lee Taeyong
Genre: summer romance / mostly fluff, a bit smut @ the end, so i’ll classify this as m (I guess?)
Words: 7.3k
“This isn't funny.” “Excuse me?”, cute boy sitting in your seat is looking genuinely confused by your sharp tone.
“That’s my seat.”, you say, pointing unnecessarily at the stool he's wrongfully occupying. Cute boy’s brown eyes change from confusion to mischief in a flash. His mouth forms a sinister grin when he responds.
"You really think you have a right to a specific seat in a public library?" You don't think you do, you know you do.
Nobody else spends as much time here as you. Not even the two librarians. And especially not during summer break.
What is someone like him even doing here? His fiery red hair is tousled in a stylish mess, the kind where you can’t really tell if the guy put in a lot of work or none at all. His sun kissed skin makes you think that being indoors isn’t his preferred choice. And his cloths – swim trunks and a plain white shirt – scream beach day, not making Y/N’s life harder-day.
This boy is so far out of your – and this library’s – league, maybe your best friend Seugil is playing a prank on you.
But even she wouldn’t get a guy like that into a place like this just to mess with a slightly deranged and desperately awkward outsider like you.
Seugil is a solid seven, but this person in front of you is scratching on the ten. And the look he gives you indicates he’s fully aware of that.
You try to stay calm – interactions always bring out the worst in you.
“I always sit here.”, you say trying not to sound as snappy as before.
“Well, you're not sitting here now. So-... this sentence is grammatically incorrect.”, he responds and smirks at you. Oh no, not good. You feel your face getting hot. Even though you try to be rational, this guy is getting to you – both physically and mentally.
You could just walk away, find another place where you can continue your limbo of reading trashy romance novels and writing smutty fanfictions in peace. But this seat is perfect: right under the AC, with a nice view of the indoor court and a shelf full of inorganic – and untouched – chemistry books at the back, that nobody bothers to check out. This is heaven for introverts in the summer.
And this seat stealer is not taking it away from you. Deep breaths Y/N. Deep breaths.
“Would you mind sitting somewhere else?”, you ask in a sweeter voice.
Seat stealer is now looking you over, measuring you up. He won’t be impressed. You didn’t put too much effort in today’s appearance: A white summer dress, floor length so you didn’t have to shave, and a messy bun full of black hair, being hold together by dry shampoo.
You are not ugly. But you sure do not try to put your average features in the best light. Who do you have to impress? The answer is sitting right in front of you, clearly unimpressed.
Self-consciously you try to avert your gaze. Maybe another seat isn’t that bad. But to your surprise seat stealer contradicts his nickname by standing up. The loud scratching of the stool against the linoleum is the only sound in the library.
“I don’t mind. Please.”, he responds standing.
Flabbergasted you switch into autopilot and move around the table to take your rightful seat. But cute guy isn't exactly retreating. He just waits next to your seat and watches you sit down, still with this ridiculously handsome grin on his lips. He definitely is in your personal space. You can smell the sun screen mixed with an herb nuance of freshly cut grass on his skin.
Now sitting, you look up into his dancing eyes.
“Thank you.”, your mom raised a semi polite kid.
“No problem”, former seat stealer says and sits down right next to you. And sits down right next to you? What the hell? You openly stare at him. What. the. hell? There are roughly 40 empty seats in this building. This isn’t a polite distance. This is an invasion. This guy is giving you an amorism just by existing.
You are one move away from just standing up and aborting this whole mission, leaving in defeat. But there is still your pride. And the fact that seat stealer is now no longer watching you but looking at his phone. If you weren’t so sure he is trying to fuck with you... But what alternative is there? At home there is no AC, which would slowly kill you. Finding another seat after the whole stand you just took would undermine your fragile credibility.
And even though you don’t know this guy, loosing this charade with him is not an option. So, you do what any introvert does – detach from the social situation.
Opening your laptop, a dozen new notifications pop up and you are pleasantly surprised that even tough real life is surreal right now, your online community is reliable. You take your time responding to the asks about your next updates and the few chat messages you received since last night. Then you post a text on your tumblr:
gonna finish new chapter as soon as seat stealer lets me exist in peace
Not even a minute later your phone vibrates. You feel curious eyes on you while reading Seugil’s message.
[seugil 10:04 am] somebody dared to sit on your seat? [y/n 10:04 am] somebody has reception while camping? [seugil 10:04 am] somebody tries to change the subject? [y/n 10:05 am] there is not much of a subj. guy was on my seat, guy moved to the seat next to mine, guy is annoying. [seugil 10:05 am] guy is cute? [y/n 10:06 am] guy is cute.
You try to breathe normal. This you can manage. Even if his presence is unwanted and quite frankly rude, you’ll just do what you always do.
“You’re sitting in a library full of books.” Cute boy is definitely not low-maintenance.
“Yes”, you curtly nod, not even looking up from the screen.
“Yet, you read on your computer?” You can feel his eyes on you and turn around. Sure enough there he is – facing you, leaned back, right arm causal swung over the armrest, the whole body angled towards you.
“Rich coming from you, seat stealer.”, you bark and point accusingly at his mobile device resting in plain sight.
“Well, I am here against my will, so…”, he answers and causes you to pause. So, you were right – the boy doesn’t fit in here, and he doesn’t want to. Curiosity wells up, so you try to suppress it, but it’s no use. Who are you kidding? You are interested.
“Who forces you to spend your time in a well-tempered room, surrounded by written knowledge and people who understand the concept of giving you space?” The end sounds like an accusation emphasized by your widened eyes mapping out the sheer nonexistent distance between you two. Cute boy, who just chuckles in response, leans forward to answer your original question, simply skipping your critique.
“Failed my finals, so I have to take them again during break.” So cute boy is dumb, what a waste of perfect appearance. You don’t judge people on things they can’t change. But sitting in a library to study for a test you failed and then only being on your phone? Self-fulfilling prophecy of getting fucked. Seat stealer seems to read your facial expression like an open book – hard to believe given his aversion to print.
“I tried to help my neighbor, got caught, teacher thought it was me cheating, took my test away –“
“-and your summer.”, you finish for him, nodding and believing him. Maybe you want to think of him as a smart person, or maybe his eyes tell you that he wouldn’t lie to a stranger about such a thing.
“No, my mother stole my summer, when she personally drove me here this morning to quote work my ass off unquote”, he corrects me and uses air quotes as well as an unbelievable high-pitched voice to mimic his mother. You really like that he uses “unquote” as well, not many people do.
“So, you didn’t tell her that you actually don’t need to study?”
“I tried”, a huff emphasizes his frustration, “but she won’t believe me.”
Parents who don’t listen suck. But you think that it’s a good preparation for adult life. No adult trusts another adult.
“Sooo-“, you motion towards his cell, “you’ll just bid your time?”
“I wouldn’t call being on level 54 of Candy Crush bidding my time.”
“That, my friend, is the definition of bidding one’s time.”, you chuckle, and he joins you.
“Huh, friend? You don’t even know my name, Y/N.”, he says, mocking you and-… using your name? What the hell? Your confusion must again be readable, because seat stealer answers your unspoken question.
“Your hard case.” The explanation is accompanied by a demonstrative tap on your laptop. Ah, your name tag Y/N’s property – touch and die, a birthday present from Seugil.
Now you don’t know what to say. Should you ask for his name? What added value has this information? There isn’t a single scenario, where his name would be important to you in the future – well no plausible scenario. He could have just offered you his name, but he teases you with it. That’s why Seugil wants you to go out more. Your social skills are underdeveloped at best. So, you just stare at him and blush a bit, because he does the same. After a minute, what feels like eternity, you have enough and just break the contact, focusing once again on your laptop. You feel foolish for even engaging in this banter in the first place.
“Taeyong” It is spoken minutes after your failed attempt to get back to reading and his soft voice holds a hint of an apology. You don’t turn your head again, not ready to face cute boy again so soon after your defeat.
Taeyong – it fits. You can’t wait till you can call him by his name.
Your opportunity arrives two hours later. You have really tried to finish this chapter, but his presence is distracting at best, sabotaging at worst. Although he does go back to his phone after waiting some time to get a reaction out of you from revealing his name.
Again, what the fudge were you suppose to say? Thanking him for telling you? Agreeing with him? What is the protocol when someone whispers his name to you? This is so bizarre, there isn’t even a Wikipedia article for that type of situation – you know, you checked!
But now your battery is running low and the adapter is in your locker with your lunch, which you could use right now. The clock is just shy away from one and your stomach demands food. Normally you would eat in here. At one the receptionist takes her break and smokes behind the garbage cans, which you can see from your seat. So, you can do the forbidden, eat in the reading room.
But now he is here, making everything so much more difficult. Reluctantly you turn in your seat to face him.
“Uhm- Taeyong?”, you start and test out his name. It sounds nice, a bit soft at the end, but with a strong start. You approve.
“Yes, Y/N?”, he answers emphasizing your name as well. He locks his screen, giving you his full attention.
“I’d like to eat lunch now so-“
“Thank god! I really tried being patient, giving you space, yada, yada, yada, but I am starving!”, he groans in relief and stands up from his seat. What is happening? He couldn’t possibly think?
“You coming, Y/N?” Taeyong is steps ahead of you, around your table and you just stare, dumbfounded.
“But..but my laptop?”, you stutter and look at him helplessly and totally overwhelmed. You just wanted him to look after your laptop while you eat outdoors in peace.
“Just put it in your locker.”, he answers nonchalantly and motions for you to get up. What is seat stealer doing with your perfectly planned day? Destroying it, that he does! You stand up, defeated and hungry, and follow him.
“So, you are telling me you’ve never watched Star Wars?” Taayong speaks with his mouth half full, which should be a deal breaker, weirdly enough isn’t. You both are sitting on the grass, even though your white dress is crying its fabric soul out. He is munching on a sandwich, that you are 99,9% sure is a work of his mum. Your own cuscus salad is delicious, and you are glad you spend the extra hour in the kitchen yesterday.
“No, I said quote I’ve never watched the newer ones unquote. Luke, Leia and Han?” a dramatic pause follows, “That, Taeyong, is Star Wars.”
He just shakes his head, looking at you like you’re some foreign entity, ready to fight the humans to death.
“I don’t disagree with you,” Oh it sure feels like it, “But what about Anakin, Padme and Jar Jar Binks? That’s Star Wars as well!” He is getting more animated as he continues, “You can’t just exclude parts of history, just because they aren’t up to your standards!!”, his arms are flailing comically, making his biceps far too present for your liking. This boy sure is beautiful, and wrong.
“I’m the consumer, I make the decisions!”, you proclaim and put a big spoon of your salad in your mouth, chewing contently.
Taeyong’s personality is like a warm winter day – surprising and welcoming. He isn’t as teasing and forceful as you’d predict from your first meeting. His smile is easy, and his mind is fascinating. Even though his appearance, and his confidence of it, makes you sometimes swallow in silence. But the last hour the both of you ate and talked, an easy banter surrounding you. You’d never imagined being comfortable enough to eat next to a strange guy.
Taeyong, however, is such a force without trying, making every sheer obscure decision seem like a no-brainer. Letting your laptop in your locker? Sure. Eating on the grass while wearing white? What are washing machines there for? Watching a prequel that is objectively bad? How else would Georg Lucas financially survive?
“What do you like to do, when you’re not demolishing cinematic classics, Y/N?”, Taeyong asks after a while to end the silence.
You shrug. “Nothing much.”
“You like to read, right?”, he probes, trying to get a more sufficient answer. Well, wrong counterpart, seat stealer.
“It’s effortless and fun.”, you answer packing up your lunch box, signaling the end of this break. Sure, talking to Taeyong is exciting and refreshing. Talking about you makes you feel uneasy, like you are not enough of a subject to talk about.
“I like to swim.”, he says switching gear, not even contemplating packing up his sad remains of a sandwich. You look at his body, which is perfectly build for this sport. His shoulders are broad, his biceps defined. Taeyong is tall in general, his hands being extremly big.
“Isn’t the chlorine bad for your dye?”, you ask slightly judgmental about the red fire on his head. He groans flipping onto his back stretching his whole body on the lawn. His shirt rides up with the motion, revealing a tiny trail of hair, peaking out of his swim trunks. Oh my, you quickly look away, but the thoughts of where this trail leads stay with you and color your cheeks in a rosé blush.
“Don’t remind me.” His hands are in his hair, gripping it tightly. It seems like he is trying to rip it out. “I cannot believe I lost this bet.”, Taeyong adds and looks up at you. Ok, now you are judging hard.
“You dyed your hair because of a bet?”
“I was so sure I’d beat this guy at our last competition before summer break.”, he explains and continues telling you about his perfect swim record, slightly bragging, that it was a no-brainer to win the swim meet. That he absolutely would have, if it weren’t for his googles shifted in an awkward position, leaving him disoriented and his eyes irritated.
“So, the guy who won doesn’t like you very much.”, you conclude.
“Why would you say that?”, Taeyong asks and raises himself up, propping on his elbows.
“Because he chose that color.” The explanation is met with a lopsided grin.
“Nah, Tail is my best friend.” Who needs enemies when you have best friends like that?
“You don’t like it?”, Taeyong asks as he stands up, holding a hand out for you to take. Like so many other things you did today, this again feels easy. You put your hand in his warm palm and he pulls you up in one swift move. Taeyong doesn’t release your hand. He just puts yours into his hair. Who does that?
“Isn’t it soft?” This guy knows no boundaries.
[y/n 03:41 pm] this guy knows no boundaries [seugil 03:45 pm] cute guy is still there? lmfao [y/n 03:45 pm] he put my hand in his hair!! [seugil 03:50 pm] …seat stealer has guts [seugil 03:51 pm] how did it feel? [y/n 03:51 pm] burned like fire [seugil 03:54 pm] ? [seugil 03:54 pm] ? [seugil 03:54 pm] ? [seugil 03:55 pm] ? [seugil 03:55 pm] Y/N!! [y/n 03:55 pm] chill – his hair is flaming red, it’s a metaphor [seugil 03:58 pm] know only 1 boi with flames, snap a pic y/n [y/n 03:58 pm] after u lower me in my grave [seugil 03:58 pm] Y/N [seugil 03:58 pm] Y/N [seugil 03:59 pm] Y/N [seugil 03:59 pm] Y/N [y/n has sent a picture 04:20 pm]
“Did… did you just snap a picture of me?” He sounds incredulous and your blush automatically appears. Damn, damn, damn. With shyness you face him. His eyes are slightly narrowed, and you can’t make out if he’s mad or just impressed.
“No?” More a question than an answer, because you did exactly that. He leans over coming dangerously close.
After lunch you grabbed your adapter and the both of you sat at your prior seats. For the next hour both of you presented millennials at their best, you on your computer, him on his phone. But then Seugil had to be a pain. So, you awkwardly tried your luck. However your paparazzi skills are mediocre at best. Of course he’d noticed. In which universe does such a thing actually work?
“No?”, Taeyong repeats. Now he just sounds impressed by your blunt lie. You shake your head, too deep in this mess to come out unembarrassed.
His face is close, and you can again smell the fresh grass on his skin. The lunch break gave him a slight simmer, making this boy look seriously delicious.
“Let’s make a deal.”, he starts and points to your phone.
“Send me the picture,” over your dead body, “and I’ll never ask why you took it.”
Never? “You’ll never mention it?”, you ask with suspicion in your voice. Taeyong nods. “What it?”
“What’s your number?” He patiently dictates it and you save his contact, sending him the picture without a comment. Seugil’s reply pops up and you feel strangely defeated.
[seugil 04:24 pm] TY-TRACK TAEYONG!! omg omg call me asap when home!!
So, she knows your seat stealer. Taeyong told you that he lives in the city right next to yours. Therefore, the chances of your best friend knowing him were big – Seugil had dated Mark, presumably from the same school – last year. But you had somehow hoped that this seat stealer was yours. Now you are at a disadvantage again.
[Taeyong 04:25 pm] I look like the hottest man in the library
That day will end with an aneurism.
It didn’t. It ended with you leaving soon after the phone debacle with one contact more on your SD card, cute-boy-exposure for more than six hours, enough blushing to permanently damage your skin and a phone call with Seugil. So, Taeyong was not lying – he is wildly known for his swim talent. His gift to effortlessly flirt is legendary, especially given the fact that he never has a steady girlfriend. Not even a parade of flings. Either he silences them with an enchantment or this boy is all talks, no play. But just imagining it, you don’t think the second option is very possible. And it irks you how much that fact sours your mood when you try to go to sleep that night. There is no way in hell you’ll see this guy again. But even when you think that, somehow you know this is a lie. And you’re glad.
“You are really testing me, seat stealer.”, your stern voice is contradicted by your small smile.
But Taeyong moves over in one swift move, taking with him the almost empty cup of iced coffee.
“Just saving you your seat.”
You just shake your head and take your place right next to him. Today he wears a pastel green button-down shirt and jean shorts, hiding his red hair under a black cap. He looks like sin and it irks you how impressed you are and how your heart flutters uncomfortably.
“Yeah, because there are so many seat stealers waiting to make my summer miserable.”, you respond under your breath while firing up your laptop.
The next half hour is spent in silence. Taeyong is on his phone, while you are catching up on the last fanfiction updates. After years of reading and writing smut, you kind of got used to not reacting to fandom fluff in public. But still it feels exciting to read about cockwarming so dangerously close to him.
Just his presence makes your summer much more exciting, even though you would never admit it out loud. For the first time ever, you feel uncomfortable in a good way. Like you could actually manage to sit next to a ten and occasionally talk to it. You hear Taeyong’s moan before you feel his head drop on your shoulder. Your body reacts before your brain does and you title your head towards his. A few inches are separating your lips and you can't breathe.
"Look Y/N! Look at my friends enjoying themselves while I’m a slave of my own misery!", he proclaims and shoves his screen in your face.
There are five guys cramped together into one selfie. All of them with bare chests and shit eating grins. Two of them are holding suspicious bottles in their hands, while one of the guys is concentrating hard on the watermelon slice in his hand. The beach in the background is very familiar and you just continue to stare at the picture. The other option would be Taeyong’s lips. And your body isn't ready for that.
It’s the fifth day in a row this boy has graced your normal, slightly boring, day with his presents. You can officially say, that there is a crush building. And by official you mean that you are sure your intense blushing, the awkward silences after his flirty remarks and your hard to repress heart-eyes whenever he talks about something passionately, are a clear indicator for outsiders. And Taeyong. But he doesn’t tease you much. He talks to you, sometimes brushing his hand against yours, or like now, resting his head on you. This guy sure has some boundary issues and somehow, it’s not driving you away from him. No, you feel yourself moving forward.
Taeyong is a fixpoint for the next weeks, filling in for your best friend, who is still camping in the wilderness. You get to know the cute boy with an ego like Zeus, making it harder to disregard your crush on him. Now you’re again taking a break in the little garden of the library. The sun is hitting your skin hard today. Taeyong’s head is rested in your lap, his phone covering his face, while you lean against an old tree to block the sunshine. Like him, your cell is in front of you, as you see the invite.
[Mark Lee invited you to bonfire party this Friday] accept or decline?
Huh, you aren’t really that tight with Seugil’s ex, but you try not to scare people away that really try to make an effort. And they both parted on good terms, Seugil still sometimes going out to his parties, him sporadically joining our movie nights. This invitation though surprises you. He knows Seugil isn’t here, why asking you to come?
[seugil 02:32 pm] GO! [y/n 02:32 pm] are you stalking me on fb?? [seugil 02:33 pm] stalking, raising, loving – all the same! [y/n 02:33 pm] how boring is camp with fam? [seugil 02:33 pm] unbelievable [seugil 02:33 pm] go to the party [y/n 02:33 pm] why? [seugil 02:34 pm] u deserve to have fun [y/n 02:34 pm] and being alone @ a party is fun? [seugil 02:34 pm] sure seat stealer will be there [y/n 02:35 pm] not good enough
But then you look down and see Taeyong’s eyes. His phone is thrown away and his smile is directed at you. Warmth spreads around your body. Maybe good enough?
“I can just see your inner crisis not being able to claim a seat.”, a very familiar voice chips in your ear and there is an instant blush covering your hot cheeks.
So Taeyong is here. You slowly turn around and there he stands shirtlessly trying to kill your fragile heart. This crush is getting ridiculous. And this guy is just too damn attractive for his and your own good. Taeyong is wearing the same black swim trunks you first saw him in and nothing else. You can see his defined abs. It's no bodybuilder level, but just enough muscle to get your muscle clenched.
His sun kissed skin has a light glister and makes him shine. Taeyong looks like he stepped out of a beachwear ad. You are now just blankly starring at him, but not in the eyes like a normal person. No, your stare is directed at his stomach, then his arms, the lanky bicep and then his fully displayed collarbones. His long neck looks so bitable, you start to chew on your lower lip out of reflex. Then your view moves to his face, where you're met with a teasing smile.
“I'll-... manage.”, you chough out and shield your arms around your midriff. The black strappy summer dress you chose is hugging your figure a bit more than you'd normally tolerate, but summer is ending and you were 80% sure that you’d meet seat stealer here and you wanted to impress him.
“Let's get you a drink and me a refill, shall we?”, he answers and wows his index finger into the right shoulder strap of your dress tugging you lightly into the direction of the keg. Drinking with seat stealer isn’t exactly playing it safe. Not when you have this immense crush on him. And not when he so knows this.
Taeyong sees the hesitation on your face and cocks his head to the side.
“Or... we could discuss why you were just now shamelessly ogling me?”
“Lead the way.”
You see the victory in his smile as he moves his hand away from your shoulder and places it on your back. After all those weeks of physical contact with him, you're still surprised how much his touch does to you. Your heart is pounding fast as he leads you to the table, accompanied by bystanders curiously following the pair of you with their hushed gossip. Self-consciousness creeps up your bones. Do they think we are a couple? Are they judging you for even trying with someone like him? You avert your gaze and focus on the sand at your feet. It's less harmful to your insecurity. Sand doesn't judge you.
“You drink beer, right?” You just nod your head and he gives you a funny look.
“Why so quiet, library girl?”, he asks and fills your cups, placing one of them in your clammy hands. Before you can think of a snarky remark, that won't give away your fragile feelings while still getting him to shut up, you hear his name being called.
“Yo Tae, come back here!”
You turn around and spot a small group of guys sitting in a circle. The bonfire is not far away from them, but just far enough to give the boys an exclusive air around them. All the other guests, that are not swimming or dancing to the summer hits being jammed out of some boxes, are huddled around the big fire, lazily talking in soft voices.
“Thanks for getting me a drink, I'll just go and find my frie-”
“And bring Y/N with you!”, a familiar voice adds, and your eyes widen in shock. Mark? Just your luck, that the only other person you know is evidently a friend of Taeyong. Of course. More people stare at you and follow this exchange curiously. How embarrassing. Taeyong’s friends have the situation reading skills of a seagull.
“Come on, meet my friends, Y/N. Don't make me beg.”, he says and because you don't want to be the center of attention any longer, you crave.
“The guy with the silver hair is Ten, he's sitting next to Mark, who you seem to already know.”, Taeyong starts to murmur in your ear. His skin smells like grass again and it makes your mouth water.
“Lucas is the one closest to the chips – a deliberate choice. I have never seen a human eat so much. WinWin is leaning against him. He can't hold is liquor very well and we've been here since seven.”, he continues as you arrive at the circle.
There is an empty spot, presumably Taeyong's space. It's between WinWin and Ten and it's small. Before you can start your mental breakdown over this, seat stealer intervenes.
“Make room jackasses and let the lady have a seat. She sure likes her seats.” The last part is whispered just for your ears and you feel a shiver running down your spine.
You sit down as gracefully as possible with a drink in hand, wearing a dress and standing on sand. Taeyong follows swiftly, positioning himself dangerously close to you. His shoulder is touching yours and you can feel the warmth of his skin. Trying to control yourself, you take a big swing out of your red cup, wincing at the bitter taste of warm beer.
“I’m so glad you could make it, Y/N.”, Mark begins and winks in your direction.
Mark has always been easygoing, a jock without the teasing layer of bullying unpopular kids. When Seugil dated him last year, it was truly a miracle how well you fitted into their couple activities. They wanted to ride rollercoasters till they had to vomit? You were waiting for them, eating pinkish cotton floss, until you had to vomit. A boat trip? Count your single ass in with a thick book and enough sunscreen to give you a ghostish aura. Maybe your compatibility with the pair was the first sign, that although Mark and Seugil liked each other, they didn’t have the spark making your presence disruptive.
“I haven’t seen you all summer.”, he continues while stealing a chip out of Lucas’ hand, earning a slap in return. All the other boys are looking at you curiously, making you realize that you haven’t said a single word since joining them. You cough shily and respond with caution in your eyes.
“You know me, outdoors isn’t my preferred setting.” “So you’re saying Y/N”, Taeyong starts a lopsided smile dangling close to your face, “your preferred setting is indoors with me?”
“Let’s say indoors, and you are an acceptable disadvantage.”, you answer, bringing the beer to your lips to get some much-needed distance from this boy. You hear a few oh burn from the guys and stare at Taeyong. To hold eye contact with him makes you tingle, the brown of his eyes so deep, you never want to stop staring. The air hums between your bodies, leaving you excited and your heart feeling alive.
“So, you’re library girl?”, WinWin asks and breaks the tension, takes a sip of his own drink while looking curiously at you.
Taeyong talks about you? To his friends? And he uses your nickname? Why? And more importantly, what does he talk to them about? Your crude – antisocial – behavior? Or the way your shoulders keep brushing against each other every time you show him a meme on your computer? Or your tendency to fall silent every time you feel too uncomfortable? Or how he shares his headphones with you, when you just have to listen to the new album of his favorite artist? Or the fact that you have a giant crush on him, which is basically written on your forehead with waterproof sharpie?
“I am?” The answer sounds more like a question, doubt clouding your voice as you look around the circle of his friends. WinWin seems to love your response, clapping his hands together. Clearly excited and clearly just as drunk as Taeyong said, because this boy forgot he holds the cup of beer in his hands, accidentally showering you in warm alcohol. You shrike, closing the distance to your seat stealer to avoid getting more liquid on your dress. Taeyong’s arm comes around you and he tries to twist you into his body, shielding you from the unwanted alcoholic shower. The smell of grass is insane this close to him, your nose stroking his collarbone, breathing in deeply as his upper body shakes with silent chuckle.
“What the hell man?”, he accuses his friend, his voice sounds muffled through your human cocoon.
“Sorr-… sorry. Damn.”, you hear WinWin trying to get up, “I’m just excited to meet the girl keeping you from us this whole summer.”
His words are slurred and laced heavily with alcohol, but you can understand the sentence clear as day. It just doesn’t make sense. You keeping him away? He has to be at the library, because of his failed finals. His mum, not you, forces him to be there every day. Is WinWin that drunk? But as the words leave his lips, your self-proclaimed shield, one second chuckling, goes stiff. You can hear the faint sound of the bonfire crackle behind you, but Taeyong is silent, suspiciously so. Your cheeks heat up, because there is obviously some inside knowledge you’re not prior to.
You peek at Taeyong, just seeing his pointy chin, so you squirm yourself out from under this boy to look him in the eyes. But his arms are stonily holding you in position, direct at his chest, his biceps more like steel bars than flesh.
“We’ll go clean up.”, he says curtly, standing with you in his arms, effortlessly lifting you up in one swift move.
“You’re not even dirty.”, Ten laughs while Taeyong takes long strikes away from his friends, putting growing distance between you and their drunken laughter. You sneak a last glance at them, seeing Mark’s grin, WinWin’s hand on your abandoned beer, Lucas’ face in the chips bag. They don’t care a bit that Taeyong basically manhandled you, half carrying you, half letting you hobble along with his long legs.
You try to scramble your thoughts into an order, which doesn’t sound insane. What the hell just happened? You are heading to the dark water in front of you, totally deserted from the few swimmers earlier. The waves crash against your bare feet and you shrike at the cold water touching your skin. He wouldn’t. No. He wouldn’t dare.
“Take your dress of, Y/N.”, he says, some laughter coming back into his voice while he snaps one of your shoulder straps away with his finger. This was a beach party. Of course you have a swimsuit under your dress. But this was an alibi choice, a deliberate decision to not look too out of place, while still never even considering to actually go for a swim. But you never imagined going to a party without your best friend, or sitting next to seat stealer and his friends, or how good his body felt pressed against you, and how alive you feel with his hand on your shoulder.
So, you take a leap as the both of you continue going into the water. The cold wet is already up to your knee, as you try to stop your feet from moving. You plant them into the sand and Taeyong does magically halt, looking at you, searching your face.
“You don’t have to.”, he breathes gloomily, taking his hand from your shoulder. You must be insane, but that he actually gives you the option to back out of whatever this is, makes you adventurous, as your fingers grab the hem of your black dress, pulling it over you head in one single motion.
Now you are standing in front of your crush in a dark red one-piece suit, which modestly covers most of your body. With shaking hands, because the water is freaking cold, not because you’re just the bravest you’d ever been, you wad the piece of clothing into a ball, giving it to a stunned Taeyong.
“Let’s not even pretend I can throw that far.”, you joke, your voice abnormal high due to the anxiety cursing through your veins. The only answer from your crush is a single toss, sending the item safely onto dry sand. So, at least something is safe in this scenario.
Taeyong’s eyes burn into your skin as the both of you slowly begin your ascend through the deep water. The ocean soon closes in around your bodies, making you less self-conscious about your appearance. Taeyong leads, his back against the open sea, with his front never leaving your sight. Cold fingers dance hesitantly around your clothed waist as he stops, water just covering your hard nipples.
Before he can speak or do anything to silence you, you try to make sense of WinWin’s comment, the remark still fresh in your memory.
“When is your make-up exam?”, you ask with a heavy layer of accusation. Somehow knowing the answer, before Taeyong confirms your suspicion.
“Two weeks ago.”
“Why?”, you whisper, while his hands now rest confidently on your waist.
“Because I like you, library girl.”, he confesses and closes the distance between your bodies.
“How much?”, you whisper and let your fingers hold onto his biceps for support.
“That much that I spend the last two weeks in a library.”, he chuckles confidently and leans down, letting his nose bump into yours.
His breath is visible due to the cold evening air and you stare at his lips, now in plain view. How many times had you dreamt about this? Him? Like that? Before the moment vanishes, Taeyongs lips drive onto yours.
They are warm and soft and fit perfectly on yours. Your mouth matches his intensity, as you feel his tongue tracing your bottom lip. With a soft whimper you let him in. His arms are around moving from your waist to your cheeks. Taeyong’s wet hands frame your face and title your head back.
Your bodies are pressed together, and your tongues explore each other in a heated banter. He tastes like beer and honey and you try to get closer to him. He moans, feeling your breast flushed against his bare chest.
No more distance, you think and touch every inch of skin. Your fingers brush against his abs, mapping out the muscles and earning a deep growl from him. In a flash his hands are no longer on your face. Now they are firmly on your butt cheeks. You yelp in surprise as he lifts you up, guiding your legs around his waist.
The air is leaving you as you get drunk on this kiss, warmth arising in your core. Tayeong lets go of your mouth and moves his lips downwards to your neck, lightly sucking on your wet skin.
“How?”, you whimper, your brain no longer capable of the syntax.
“How what?”, Taeyong murmurs into your neck, never letting his lips leave your body.
“H- how can this feel so good?”, your voice is strained from a tension you have never felt before. Automatically you start to roll your hips and hope it will relieve this strain in your lower body.
“How can it no-… Y/N,” Taeyong’s groans, “you trying to unman me?”
His hands try to still your motions, but then he snaps, buckling into you.
“Ah”, breathlessly you encourage him. This is fast. This is not playing it safe. Your lips are on his and you try to consume him. Taeyong’s hands move from your butt to your hips, assisting your hips and fastening their speed. It feels like the water is boiling as one hand reaches between you two. He uses two fingers and lays them directly against your clit.
“Ahh” Too much pressure, just enough, never enough.
“P-pplease.”, you beg. “Shit”, he starts to move them in sloppy circles. You continue to grind against him, now feeling a hard length press against your slit. The moan out of your seat stealer’s lips sounds desperate as you rub against him. It feels so good, even through his trunks can you feel his cock twitch and it makes you so hot, you’re certain the water around you is boiling.
“Never stop”, you whisper and find a rhythm. The tension continues to build. “You feel so good wrapped around me” His words are spoken against your mouth, trailing wet kisses across your jaw, finding their purpose on your collarbone. Taeyong’s fingers move the fabric of your swimsuit away to touch your clit without any barrier. You flex your legs instantly, overwhelmed by the electric current running through your body, making your skin tingle.
Then his teeth sink in your neck at the same time his index finger moves between your folds. All thought is lost as you scream silently buckling franticly against him. You see light flash behind your eyelids as an orgasm rips through you. Never had your own fingers managed to give you this high. Your hips draw lazy circle around his length as you are trying to regain control.
“Wow”, you breathe, and your hands roam around Taeyong’s upper body, who still lightly nibbles on your collarbone. He chuckles against your wet skin.
“How you feeling, Y/N?”, he asks and moves his hand away from your heat, up to cradle your cheek. You look into Taeyong’s eyes and see a fondness in them, that shines through the darkness of this night. He looks as smitten as you feel. But at the same time there is a hunger in his stare that reminds you of his hard erection still pressed into your lower body. Now your shyness comes out in full force. What to do? What to say? Everything up to this point felt as natural as breathing, now you’re again overwhelmed, and your mushed, orgasm-high brain is no help either.
“You want me to..?”, you question and try to sound seductive, your hand vaguely motioning to his crotch underwater. Taeyong just shakes his head, letting small waterdrops rain from his wet red hair. Before you can feel rejected, he kisses you openmouthed, making you forget the slight pain of the mark on your neck.
“Please, if I don’t get my first handjob from you in the reading room of our library, my dirty fantasies would never forgive me.”, he answers warming your heart more than his gifted orgasm beforehand.

The Remnants of trump ...
1 What we see now are the remnants of Trump. A jumble of fractured thoughts in an unraveling vessel. These thoughts, the essence that made up a toxic mix of narcissism, depravity & criminality are fading away. Ppl will say"I saw Trump- there's nothing left of him." Let's rewind: 2 "Pleased to meet you, hope you guessed my name." Who knew? Trump was just a TV clown to most people. How did a money laundering con-man get to the WH? Picture him- "I'm more than a money launderer, I can be SOMEBODY. I can be an American Oligarch, just like the Russian bigwigs" 3 Trump fell hard for Putin, because Putin could shut off his money laundering faucet. Trump was like a low level Associate- "A friend of ours" (I'm mixing Mob lingo here)-not even soldier or capo level in the org. Better yet, he'd show them all he could run dirty for President. 4 Trump auditioned in 2011 w/ his birther scam- a propaganda attack on Obama, he wouldn't let go of. Trump "made his bones" w/ it, and Putin was happy to help him in 2016. What Putin didn't count on was getting caught & Trump becoming an ineffective shell, dominated by dementia. 5 Trump is disintegrating & you can be sure his squad has a menu of phony disease excuses- back, hip, hearing, to hide it. Hiding Khashoggi’s murder & extorting Qatar was routine biz for Jared the Clever, so why not keep Trump afloat. When he humiliates himself, it’s his problem. 6 Trump is a figurehead, unable to perform basic executive functions. He makes appearances. They go badly. Even tweeting has been handed off. Ideas abound about who sends them- Kellyanne, Scavino & Miller rotate or present lists? Check out these grammatically correct dirt bombs.
7 Trump doesn't interact w/ people. He struggles w/ how to speak from a distorted thought pool while trying to impress. He has zero self awareness. The comments can range from silly- “beautiful baby” to belligerent- ”wipe out Afghanistan”. Trump is dominated by dementia 24/7. 8 Watch the GOP sharks start circling when they smell blood in the water when Trump cracks. Haley, Graham & more will either want to be Pence’s VP or bypass Pence & try to get the GOP 2020 nom themselves. Trump won’t be on the ballot. His health decline proves it every day now. 9 Trump supporters don't connect his aberrant behavior to dementia. They ignore obvious loss of speech- slurring & disastrous unintelligible interviews. What they won’t be able to ignore are his worsening physical symptoms like balance, stumbling and/or falling down. It’s coming 10 Last night, Trump badly dragged his leg, swayed & jutted his tongue out. He did not appear to be in pain. He talked mindlessly about "young people" bc he can't think of what to say. I’ve seen this exact pattern up close in Frontotemporal Dementia- PSP.
11 Trump sitting at his desk while everybody else stands is more than his regal rudeness. It’s a necessity. Trump requires multiple ways to brace himself & stances for balance & weight distribution. He sits, stands & walks differently than a healthy person
12 Trump's balance issues were evident last summer at the G7. They were much worse in the fall in Paris. They are, of course, worse today. He's literally at a tipping point. There are examples in layered threads here. Loss of balance is a safety issue, leading to safety measures 13 Sitting at his desk Trump keeps feet pressed to the floor, butt on chair, arms holding the desk. The left palm flat on the desk braces him when he shakes Buzz's hand. He can't sit back in his chair- he'd have no support & would move all over the place 14 When Trump is on a chair w/o a desk, he sits on the edge to spread his weight between his butt & his legs. If he sat back in an over-stuffed chair, he would move with an ants in his pants writhing. He needs to brace himself by leaning forward.
15 Standing at a podium is another challenge for Trump. He leans forward and hangs on like he's using a walker. He even uses his gut to balance on the podium when he isn't holding on. 16 Solo or interaction standing, Trump adopts the classic spread feet, butt back, forward lean, arms out, dementia position. This is a form of compensation and is unsustainable. It can't continue for much longer.
17 Walking- Trump's been careful to avoid situations where he loses balance. He drives golf carts on the green. With Kim he was cautious. With reporters he side shuffles. To the copter, he’s often holding hands. 19 Trump’s enablers are willing to run him in to ground bc they simply don’t care. They are opportunists and they each get to be part-time presidents. Whether it’s Ivanka, Jared, Barr, Melania, Mnuchin, Pompeo, Mitch or Miller, they all get a piece of the action. 20 Trump's is reduced to doing the "it's OK to be stupid“ routine. He couldn't remember AOC‘s name so he stumbled around & tried to joke about it. It was a way to cover up his failing mental health in front of the crowd but it ruined his punch line. 21 Here's a new Trump symptom list. Everything on the list is worsening. When new symptoms appear they are added sequentially. If Trump saw a Doctor, they would be horrified by his condition. A neurologist doing a workup would instantly list a dozen more. Eyes, hands, balance etc
22 Projecting violence is a new symptom. He's gone there before but it's in overdrive now. So is his yelling. 23 Keep in mind, we only see a snapshot of Trump when he’s trying for the cameras. The down time tells even more. That's the thing they really hide. The whole routine. I've been looking for a video of him eating- actually chewing food & swallowing, since he's been in the WH. 24 If WH physicians are hiding Trump's condition & keeping him upright, it’s a crime. A huge crime. I don’t give a rat’s ass about HIPAA privacy. Boosting Trump w/ a drug cocktail for dementia (doesn’t slow deterioration) while lying about his health is a crime & they will pay 25 Watching Trump crater from dementia will be a well deserved humiliation for his supporters. They will wear it around their necks for the rest of their lives. Enablers & opportunists who've covered up his dementia & helped extend his stay will face even more severe consequences

Procrastination
Word count: 1786 Summary: You’re bored and procrastinate and decide to chat with Philip Hamilton. Stuff happens. (I’m really getting better at Summary, right?)
Pairing: Philip x Reader
Au: High School
Warnings: Lot of cussing. I guess. Thats it
Note: It’s verry fluffy. Also, yes, i still haven’t posted Maybe that’S the problem, but I didn’t want to shit something out. So yeah. tomorrow. It will be worth it, I swear. Also i really like this one and i hope you enjoy it too? (Why do i always write Philip?)
A sigh escaped your lips.
You didn't even bother to look at your alarm clock, because you knew it was almost midnight and yet you were still awake. Running your hand through your dishevelled hair, you attempted to think of another sentence you could add to the powerpoint you were working on, but your mind had other ideas. There was just no way in hell you could form grammatically correct texts that also made sense after downing the fourth coffee on that day. Or Night. Of course, you could've noticed that sooner, but well, no need to worry. You were way too motivated on the topic of procrastination that you could care about your project. Besides, it was only missing a few finishing touches, or at least you thought so. So without further thinking, you slammed your laptop shut and grabbed your phone. Who could you write and who would possibly be online?
Of course, the first thing that came in mind was one of your classmates, Philip. You often sat next to each other in class, but you never actually talked to him outside of school. Which was a shame, because you couldn't deny that he was a pretty...cool guy. Well, it was also hard to talk to him outside of classes because he was always surrounded by his clique, and you really didn't want to get into trouble with them. The group consisted of five people, Theodosia, Frances, Georges, Richard and Philip. You would rarely see one of them alone, and rumour has it that they were all secretly dating each other. But then again, those rumours seemed pretty absurd.
Should you write him a message? It was worth a shot, wasn't it? While you searched for his number, you contemplated over how you should write him. "Hey, it's (Y/N)." No, that was too basic. "Howdy, what's up? (Y/N) here." Yeah, right. This was exactly how you would lose his interest in the first message. You should just say what you're thinking right now.
You: Hi Philip, I'm procrastinating on my pp for tomorrow. I'm bored, entertain me pls.
Sometimes your brutal honesty was too much.
P. Ham: Yo. Me too.
You: You're not finished?
P. Ham: Yeah, what's your topic?
You: Anthony Ramos.
P. Ham: Ugh. Boring.
P. Ham: Don't say he looks like me!
You: He does.
Soon you were engaged in a light-hearted conversation, and you could feel your excitement grow with every message he wrote back. Philip was a person that always caught your attention the most, but then again, he caught the attention of everyone. He was a very popular person, because of his intelligence, the fact that he was very outgoing and his good looks. Then again, he didn't have too many friends. It didn't surprise you, since his charming nature hid behind a blunt personality. But if you looked past the snide remarks he often made, Philip was actually a very kind person. A lot of people would say that he was the split image of his father, Alexander Hamilton. You didn't know what to think about that, you haven't heard much of the man. After a while, the conversation took an interesting turn.
P. Ham: Hey, do you planning on sleeping in the next hour?
You: Not really, why.
P. Ham: I'm bored and I wanna come over.
You: What?
P. Ham: God, you're a slowpoke.
You: Excuse me? It's just that it's 00:05 and you want to come all the way over here?
P. Ham: You know I live three streets away, right? I'm coming over.
You: Wait!!
You: I haven't said you could come over, you dick!
Even after waiting a few minutes, there wasn't coming an answer anymore. You sighed, while taking a closer look around your room. A little bit of panic came up inside you, as you noticed all of your belongings, which were laying around. You contemplated if you still had the time to tidy it, but didn't manage more than picking up the clothes that were scattered across the floor before you heard the doorbell ring. Throwing the clothing into your laundry basket, you made your way to the door. As you opened it, you couldn't help but gasp. Not only was the one and only Philip Hamilton before you, but he was also wearing a pretty fancy attire and balanced a tray of brownies in his left hand.
"Happy Birthday", he jeered, seeming a bit unimpressed with your dishevelled hair and your favourite sweater that was two sizes too big.
As your eyes met, he noticed the confusion on your face. " I don't have birthday?", you pointed out, but your statement had a questioning tone to it. "I know." He shrugged and squeezed past you, closing the door behind him. "I have." Philip still hasn't shown any form of positive emotions, but now you could see a slightly suppressed smirk on his face.
The instant these words left his mouth, you felt your cheeks turn red. "Oh no, I forgot your birthday! I'm sorry!", you exclaimed, and wrapped your arms around his waist to hug him.
"You're not sorry, you're a horrible person", he muttered, chuckling. After a few more apologies and more hugging both of you went into your room, and threw on your laptop to watch some netflix. Of course, the first thing that popped up as you opened the computer, was your Powerpoint. "Motherfucker, I completely forgot about this", you thought to yourself, before logging into your netflix account. While you were busy, Philip was eyeing your room, of course not without adding a few comments here and there. It was Philip, of course he had something to say about it. "How nice of you to tidy before inviting me over", he said, and you gasped audibly. "First of! I didn't! Second! I also didn't!", you answered, which made you receive a simple nod. You couldn't see that of course, because Philip was behind you, but he didn't seem to care.
"You stingy ass could've at least buy me a little present!", he complained after he had commented on seemingly every item that was in your possession. You felt the guilt rise in you, even though you probably wouldn't have bought something if you knew, that he had birthday today. What possible could a rich, douchey high school student possibly want? You were sure he already had most things you could only dream of. Not that he actually meant, what he said. You were sure he wasn't expecting anything. "Sorry... I'll think of something", you professed, even though you weren't sure if you could.
After you set everything up, you sat yourself beneath him on your bed, and placed the laptop in front of you. "You want?", Philip suddenly asked, shoving the tray of brownies towards you. Sceptical, you inspected the brownies a bit further, when he suddenly started to laugh. "Shut your mouth, I didn't poison them. And they're pot-free", he defended himself. "I haven't said anything", you protested, poking him in the ribs. "No, but you were about to."
Touché. You couldn't argue with that. Taking a bit out of the cake, you struggled to speak, but did it anyway. "Sowhatchawannawatch?" You could barely understand yourself, but Philip seemed to have a problem with it. Yawning, he chose a film called django unchained, and you chose not to interject, even though you've seen it a couple of times already.
"Is it even okay to have you here? Shouldn't you finish your presentation", you pondered, while you were absently staring at the screen. Somehow it had reminded you, that Philip was also procrastinating. "Nah, I'm finished. I just said that to make you feel a bit better." "Asshat."
As the film went on, your concentration slowly started to fade away from the movie and you focused more on the boy beneath you. At first, you only glanced over to him once or twice, but the more you looked, the more he seemed to concentrate on the film, giving you the impression that he didn't notice your obvious staring. So soon you found yourself looking at him longingly. You loved his bouncy curls, and wondered if they would feel soft when you would ran your hand through them. But the most fascinating were his freckles. They seemed like like dashes of paint on a blank canvas, and made him so much more unique. You may or may not have started to count them, as he suddenly turned his head, forcing you to hold his piercing glance.
"How long are you planning to stare at me?", he deadpanned, making you blush again. "Well I-I don't know", you stuttered, struggling with an explanation. But he didn't seem to care. "You said you would think of something as my birthday present. I'm gonna wish something", he digressed. Letting out a small giggle, you suggested something.
"What, that I shut up and watch the movie" Philip gave a quick nod, before he added: "And another thing." Pulling you over to him, you didn't have enough time to react before his lips were on yours, kissing you passionately.
After what seemed like ages, he let go of you, with the words: " And now you shut up and watch the movie." You were happy to oblige, but even though you were staring at the screen, your mind was elsewhere. Thinking of the boy next to you, who was grinning just as stupidly as you. Happily leaning against Philip, you felt the tiredness overcoming you, which you at first suppressed, but before you knew, you had fallen asleep.
Waking up to your favourite song, you felt your heart racing almost in an instant, as you remembered the previous night. In panic, you jolted up, just to notice that somebody had tucked you in, and placed your computer on the desk. Checking the clothes you were in,you made yourself sure that the events of this night weren't just a silly dreams. Slowly, you calmed down. Everything was going alright so far, you weren't late for school... But then, something occurred to you.
"The presentation!" you exclaimed, almost falling out of your bed as you tumbled towards the laptop. Hoping, that it was at least somewhat finished, you started to scan the document, as you noticed, that it was... completed. Somebody had added pictures, and small paragraphs of information. Furrowing your brows, you contemplated whether you had finished the presentation in your sleep.
"What?!", you gasped, as you had arrived at the last page of the powerpoint, which consisted of a huge title with the following words: "If I was Anthony Ramos, would you be my Jasmine Cephas Jones?"
