Just a fun illustration for a Star Wars discord im on. This is younger Beru and little Luke. I love Beru. I want to know more about her and her time with Luke. And I want all the AU’s where she survives and Luke makes her proud.

Actually. Also. 19.
Choose violence ask game
19. Best canon example of good parenting in Star Wars
Ah yes. You know me well. Buckle up everyone
In no particular order because I don’t think there’s a winner here:
Shmi “He Deserves More Than A Slaves Life” Skywalker. Anakin was literally the only thing she had in the universe. She taught him to care for others and stand up for what’s right. And she loved him enough to let him go. If Anakin had been able to follow her example regarding love the Galaxy would have been a different place.
Owen “He Is My Own” Lars and Beru “We’re Enough” Whitesun Lars. I could write an essay on them. They knew the risk, they knew the danger, and they took him in. More than that: they loved him. They taught him to work hard and do what’s right. They, too, loved him enough to let him go. Prolonging the inevitable as long as they could, sure, but weren’t going to hold him back from the life he wanted and squash his spirit by keeping him safe on the farm forever either (one more season!) They protected him and gave their lives for him.
Bail and Breha “You Are An Organa In Every Way” Organa.
In this house we stan Bail and Breha Organa. Far more than Owen and Beru could even begin to fathom they understood what was at stake. Bail witnessed the attack on The Temple with his own eyes and knew exactly what would happen if Leia was found. But he and Breha had already been fighting for what is right - been fighting the Empire before it was even formed. They were committed. And they raised Leia to continue that fight even after she had lost everything herself. They are the true embodiment of family being far more than blood and ironically, raised a daughter who would carry on the legacy of Padme and (Clone Wars General/pre fall)Anakin: Leia spent her life dedicated to the service of others and democracy and fiercely defended what is right.

So a lot of twins claim to have a sort of twintuition thing where they understand each other easily and often without words, and sometimes have high-level empathetic reactions to things that are happening to the other twin, even if they don’t know what’s happening to the other twin because they are in different locations at the time. There’s obviously not a lot of scientific evidence to back it up, but, eh. It’s a cool concept.
But what if, for the Skywalker twins, the force just ramped that up to 100.
Fic-ish thing below the cut.
Five-year-old Luke is learning the Tatooine slave language. After all, Aunt Beru used to be Beru Whitesun, before she married Uncle Owen, and his mom was Grandma Shmi, who used to be a Skywalker before she married Uncle Owen’s dad. Beru helps the recently-escaped hide in the secret compartment in the wall of their house more often than Owen does, but he claims it’s for plausible deniability, whatever that means. Leia, on Alderaan, begins mixing the harsh, clicking language with Basic subconsciously, but only when talking to herself in private. After all, she is a princess, and they must choose their words carefully in front of others.
Leia at age ten argues with her cousin about whether droids deserve respect, and across the galaxy, Luke is absolutely overcome with the need to thank every single droid he’s ever met for helping him with anything (he did this anyways before but for some reason he has to do it again Right Now).
Luke gets to drive a speeder by himself for the first time at 13 and Leia is practically begging for someone to take her out in a hovercar and go as fast as possible. And if that can’t happen she’s going to get the space equivalent of a Formula One racing sim, goddamnit.
Seventeen-year-old Junior Senator Leia’s heart skips a beat every time someone mentions Tatooine. She isn’t sure why. Obi-Wan lives there, yes, but something in her just knows that isn’t the real reason. Luke, meanwhile, yearns to see the galaxy, and often finds himself outside at night, staring at the sky. His eyes, for as long as he can remember, have always felt drawn towards a specific star. He asked Uncle Owen about it once when he was younger, and he gruffly explained that it was the Alderaan system. He feels like there’s something there, waiting for him. He’s not sure why.
And then they meet in person, and it’s “You’re a little short for a Stormtroope—Luke?”
“Leia?”
“Do I know you?”
“I don’t think so. Can I hug you?”
“Of course, you idiot. You’re my twin brother. You don’t even have to ask.”
“Thanks, Leia. You know, I had the weirdest dreams when I was ten about you and Old Ben.”
“Oh, yeah, that was actually real. I got kidnapped.”
“Cool.”
“Is it true you got nicknamed ‘Wormie’ by your friends?”
“…Yeah.”
And Han is so confused, but it’s fine, and within two hours their conversations are more like, “Hey, Leia, could you pass me the—“
“Yeah, do want the green one or the—“
“No, the blue one, probably. I need it to—“
“Oh, yeah, of course, that makes sense.”
And then Yoda tries to do the whole “Attached, you are,” routine, and Luke is like, “Well, duh. I’m only here so I can teach Leia everything I learn as soon as I get back. I’m just a pilot, which is a lot more replaceable than a princess, so we thought it would be best if I come learn from you instead of her.”
And meanwhile Leia is a lot stronger in the force now, and she meets Vader again and just goes, “Darth Dad, what the actual fuck,” under her breath in the Tatooine slave language, and the hint of Anakin that’s left absolutely freezes. Because Palpatine—Sideous—whatever, he said his kid was dead. He said that Padme died and the kid did too. He lied. And, when he meets Luke later, and he says the same Sithspitting thing, Anakin gets so thrown he accidentally cuts the kid’s hand off. Luke falls, and the shock of it in the force is so strong, and Anakin’s eyes flash blue in grief and love and hope, all at once, and all of the sudden he can think clearly for the first time in years. And his kids’—his kids!—bond in the force is so strong, how did he not notice it before?
And, anyways, I just feel like Skywalker Twintuition would be on a completely other and incomprehensible level.

Don’t mind me, just watching GIFs of Luke throwing away his lightsaber in ROTJ and reclaiming himself as a Jedi “like my father before me” and thinking about all the things that led him there and all the people who contributed to Luke making that decision. Yes, that decision was incredibly personal and speaks to how Luke has grown throughout the OT, and at the same time Luke himself would likely acknowledge that moment wouldn’t have been possible without everyone who has been a part of his life, who helped him get there. Some of whom he never even knew.
It’s a victory for Padmé Amidala Naberrie, whom Luke never knew but who managed to outmatch Sheev Palpatine so many times through her life, in part by refusing to play his game, which is exactly what Luke did here. Palpatine claims Luke’s faith in his friends is his weakness, but both he and his mother knew that it was a strength. Padmé’s friends (particularly Bail and Obi-Wan) are the reason the twins survived at all, the reason Luke had a sister and friend in Leia to lean on during his journey, the reason Obi-Wan survived long enough to watch over him and introduce him to the Force.
It’s a victory for Shmi Skywalker, whom Luke never knew but who influenced her stepson Owen Lars and her daughter-in-law Beru Whitesun Lars, who in turn helped Luke grow into the person he was. Yes, Anakin turned in part because he feared to lose Padmé the way he’d lost Shmi, just like Luke came close to turning when Vader threatened Leia, but I have to think that part of the reason Luke was able to stop was that he had that foundation of love and stability Owen and Beru had nurtured that made Luke remember who he was.
It’s a victory for the Jedi, whom Palpatine had manipulated and twisted and exhausted through the Clone Wars until by the time they faced genocide at Order 66 they were already a shadow of what they could have been. Luke reclaiming what it means to be a Jedi — and again, refusing to be defined by the structures and traps Palpatine had constructed for his father and for the other Jedi — would not have been possible without Luke being introduced to the Force by Obi-Wan, taught in the Force by Yoda, AND remembering himself through his bonds with other people. The fact that these Jedi who had survived a horrific genocide could still offer that connection, that hope, says that Sheev had not succeeded eliminating their light. Just like Sheev had not succeeded in eliminating the light in Anakin.
It’s a victory for all the beings with whom Luke was connected, because Luke had learned the thing his father struggled so hard to do: he learned to love, to trust, and to let go. At this moment, there was no guarantee Luke was getting out of there alive. In fact, a second later he’s being electrocuted by Palpatine and probably going to die. But like Luke said, Palpatine has already lost. Luke won’t turn to the Dark Side. He’ll keep trusting his friends, and trusting in the light. And everyone who has connected with Luke—Leia, Han, Chewie, Lando, his friends in the Rebellion, everyone — has been changed by that connection in a way that Palpatine can never take away. No matter who survives, that light in some form will survive.

Apparently my friend missed the part in the prequels where Anakin is introduced to Owen and the others, so they thought Beru was his sister and I can't stop thinking about it...
It could've worked so well if she had been Anakin's step-sibling instead of Owen. Picture this:
Beru's father, Cliegg Whitesun, married Shmi Skywalker, who became a loving mother for her. Owen Lars was her partner and eventual husband, though she kept her family name out of respect for her late father. This would better explain why she cared so deeply for Luke and was willing to raise him, since he was the last piece of family left for her.
Also "Whitesun" falls more in line with other Tatooine family names like Skywalker, Darklighter, Starkiller – so it would fit for the farm, which was presumably passed down over generations.
Beyond that, it could've also been such a fun parallel to the twins...

@ anon with the lovely hospital AU, apologies for the delay i was chewing on this for a couple days haha there's a whole season of grey's anatomy primetime soap worthy material. i love how fully you've filled out the AU with characters and unspooled all the drama. i can see why it would be difficult to write, it does have a big scope of imagination there. thank you for sharing it with meeeeeee
for everyone 700 words of lovely obikin hospital AU worldbuilding, continued beneath the cut!!
Shmi is a renowned heart surgeon. Best there is in the country (not just the state thank you very much) and she did it all while her son was young. Her grandmother (Grandma Mira) and her two cousins (Peli Moto and Beru Whitesun ) both helped her out a ton. She is admired and Skywalker is a name very well known in medical circles.
She decided to became a heart surgeon when her own mother (insert name here) died from a heart issue that no one wanted to touch surgically. Anakin was 9 years old. Anakin has his mom up on a pedestal - she is perfect and smart, the best surgeon, the best mom, she’s done it all. Anakin feels the pressure to be just as good as his mom. People expect him to be just as brilliant and successful as his mother. He expects it from himself. Shmi just wants him to be happy. Anakin is ready to start his residency at 25. His mother is in line to be chief of surgery at the hospital she works at (Twin Suns Medical Center). Its considered the hospital to intern at if you want your specialty to be heart surgery. Anakin isn’t really sure what he wants to specialize in, and he doesn’t want people to say that he got it easy during his internship. So he goes to the next best thing (it’s actually the number one hospital overall in the country but to Anakin is second to the hospital where shmi works because Shmi works there). He goes to Jedi Coruscant General Hospital. Chief Executive officer (in charge of whole hospital) : Breha Organa Chief of Surgery : Bail Organa (general surgeon) Brain Surgeon (top brain guy in the country) : Obi-Wan Kenobi 4th year resident: Padme Amidala (Anakin’s assigned resident) Heart Surgeon: Mace Windu Trauma Surgeon: Shaak Ti Pediatric Surgeon: Plo Koon Neonatal Surgeon: Siri Tachi Plastic Surgeon: Quinlan Vos Orthopedic Surgeon: Qui-Gon Jinn Head of the hospital board: Mon Mothma Cancer surgeon: Jocosta Nu Eye Surgeon: Dooku Vascular Surgeon: Wolffe Yoda - retired chief of surgery and general surgeon Anakin’s cohort: Aayla, Ferus Olin, Rex, Jesse, Echo, Fives 4th Year Residents: Sabe, Clovis, Bly 5th year residents: Depa Billaba, Bultar Swan, Cody Anakin’s running late on his first day, in the parking lot he’s too distracted trying to make sure he has everything in his bag that he bumps into a red head and spills the red head’s hot tea all of his shirt. “shit. Fuck. Sorry. Sorry.” Keeps walking but turns around to walk backwards to meet the really pretty blue eyes of the definitely pissed off red head “I owe you. I’ll bring you a … a coffee? Was it coffee during lunch. Sorry!” Ferus Olin, a childhood nemesis makes his appearance. He’s assigned to be Padme’s intern (the woman who gave him back his engagement ring when he was 22 and 27. He hadn’t realized she was back in town and that maybe it was purposeful that he didn’t know). Its turning out to be a truly shit day and then the pretty red head from the parking lot makes his appearance and anakin wants to sink into the ground. But. The red head picks him to help him with a surgery. … Its pretty much a grey’s anatomy AU. Obi-Wan and anakin start hooking up pretty much immediately. Ferus Olin and Anakin make nice and turn out to be pretty decent friends. Then. Anakin realizes that Padme had kids, with him. The twins. And never told him. 🤯. That’s smoothed over. He’s a dad now. He loves it. Obi-Wan’a supportive. Their secret relationship is starting to not be so secret anymore. Then. obi-wan’s ex wife (Satine Kryze) pop in with a kid. obi-wan’s kid. Obi-Wan never told him that he’d been married or that he had a kid. They break up. Anakin thinks about quitting. Then about transferring. Then gets side tracked because Aunt Beru (his mom’s cousin) got married and her husband’s dad was in a bad car crash. Its all hands on deck to save his life. Shmi makes an appearance at the hospital and Obi-Wan realizes that Anakin is Shmi’s son 🤯 Owen’s dad makes it. Anakin and Obi-Wan make up. Their relationship is outted but everything works out. There’s other small and big dramas but thats pretty much it lol

Written in the Stars: Chapter IX - The Maid and the Mandalorian
Chapter Summary: For your maid there's nothing more important than serving you. Until she meets a handsome Mandalorian that takes a liking to her. He flirts with her relentlessly, being pulled toward her by something. She tries to resist but she feels it as well. Is she going to give in to her feelings? And do they have a chance if neither of them can abandon their duties?
Pairing: Anakin Skywalker/Reader, Axe Woves/Original Female Character
Characters: Anakin Skywalker, Reader, Satine Kryze, Axe Woves, Koska Reeves, C-3PO, Shmi Skywalker, Beru Whitesun, Cliegg Lars
Word Count: 8917
A/N: This chapter is the result of me watching "The Mandalorian". Therefore, you and Anakin are not main characters in it, but Lanash and Axe Woves are. I think I made him (and another character from "The Mandalorian") to be born earlier, so he could be in my story. But oh well. It's my fanfiction. If I want him here, he's here. Also, as it's mentioned at the beginning of this chapter, the events described in it happen before Barriss betrayal. But after other moments described in the previous chapter. This chapter also contains smut. If you don't like it or are underage, don't read from: "They undress each other, trying to separate their lips as little as possible." to: "She observes him closely.". I understand if you want to skip this chapter since it's not about you and Anakin, but if you do decide to read it, I hope you will enjoy it! Gifs are not mine.

Being a maid of a princess of Luth is a life of many abnegations. Even more if the princess is also the crowned heir. And when she becomes the queen? The maid basically has no social life of her own. All her existence is committed to serving the one that is keeping the whole planet and its people safe.
Lanash doesn't mind this. In fact, she's proud to be of service to you, spending day and night by your side. It's her duty, and she loves her job, as well as the way she lives. Until the Mandalorians come.
Satine Kryze, the Duchess of Mandalore, has been your friend since you were a child. Later on, when you started to learn how to become a queen one day, she gave you her support and advice. After you lost your family, she was one of the first to offer her condolences and has been giving you advice whenever you need it. She's been also trying to convince you to declare neutrality and become the pacifist. While you agree that violence and war are despicable, you're convinced the neutrality in a terrible conflict is like a silent agreement for cruelty and murders of innocent people.
While you don't manage to convince your friend to join the war on the side of the Republic, she admits you're right on one thing. Mandalore needs an army. An army sorely sworn to only protect Mandalorians, nothing more. It is the well-known fact in the Galaxy that Mandalorians once were one of the best warriors. But they had to leave after Satine declared pacifism. Only few remained and were teaching others only in regards to protecting the Duchess. Which is why you offer your friend a proposition.
One day, some time before Bariss' betrayal and not long after your coronation, Satine arrives on your planet along some Mandalorians. Your people are to train along them and both sides are to teach from each other. Mandalore needs an army. And you need to rebuild your own after the tragedy that came down on your people.
'Satine,' you greet your friend warmly and hug her. 'It's good to see you.'
'Likewise, [Y/N],' she agrees. 'It's been far too long. I'm happy to see you.'
'And I'm happy to have you here,' you say. 'I know you must be tired, but I know only some of you are familiar with the maze that is the palace.'
The Duchess nods and you give your guests a tour. You barely finish it when Lanash joins you.
'Ah, as always perfect timing,' you say and your maid curtsies. 'Lanash will see to your accommodations.'
'Axe, can you make sure everything is in order?' Satine asks, directing her question at a man that's been following her like a shadow.
'Certainly, Your Highness,' the Mandalorian answers, bowing with respect to his ruler and smiles charmingly at your maid. 'Axe Woves at your service, my lady.'
Her heart skips a beat. He may very well be the most handsome man she has ever met. She quickly collects herself. He is a guest and she's a maid. Nothing more can be here.
'Lead the way, my lady,' he says with a flirtatious twinkle in his eyes. The Duchess and his companions roll their eyes with amused smiles. So, he's a charmer.
'I'm a maid, not a lady, sir,' Lanash corrects him seriously. 'If you could follow me.'
She turns and starts walking. Woves' smile falters. His friends snicker. He quickly regains his composure. He picks a few people and hurries after your maid.
'Should I be worried about her?' you ask Satine. She chuckles.
'Oh, I think I should be worried about him,' she responds. 'I don't think he's ever been shot down like that. Poor man may crumble.'
You laugh and in the meantime your maid shows her group each other their assigned rooms. The one belonging to Axe is the last. Somehow, others have disappeared along the way. Poor girl has no idea he 'subtly' made them do it.
'I must confess, I am surprised,' he says. 'We usually get one or two rooms to share when we visit other planets. And now each of us has their own. It's a very nice turn of the events.'
'We have plenty of free rooms, why not to use them?' Lanash asks flatly. She quickly averts her eyes. The Mandalorian looks at her with remorse.
'Forgive me, I didn't mean to bring back painful memories,' he apologizes. She shakes her head.
'Every little thing reminds us of this tragedy,' she says and bows her head. 'It is I who must ask for your forgiveness. I meant to disrespect. The Queen would make sure you have plenty of space even if we had less rooms free.'
'Of course,' he says and nods, then smiles. 'And there's nothing to apologize for.'
'I… I hope the rooms are to your liking,' she says, regaining the control.
'Uh, yes, very much so,' he confirms. 'We're very grateful.'
Lanash nods. She forces herself to ignore the intense stare she's getting from him.
'If there's anything you need, don't hesitate to call for me,' she says. He grins.
'Anything?' he asks. She pauses.
'Withing my capacity and duty,' she answers.
'Hm. What if I require a company?' he asks, putting hands behind his back.
'There… I can give you a list of houses where you can find ladies willing to… keep you company,' she answers reluctantly.
'What if… I require… your company?' he asks quietly, his voice causing shivers to run down her spine. Her eyes snap to his.
'I'm afraid I have too many duties for that, sir,' she answers and takes a step back. 'If that is all, I'll return to them.'
She starts turning to the door but he grabs her hand. He brings it to his lips, looking her in the eyes, and places a kiss on it. Her eyes widen.
'Until next time… my lady,' he says, smirking.
'Farewell, sir,' she responds, taking her hand away quickly. She hurries out of the room, blushing furiously. She's almost sure she heard him chuckle. Damn him.
'Are you all right?' you ask her when you meet her a few minutes later on the corridor. She stops and looks at you with surprise.
'Yes, my lady, why?' she asks. You touch your cheek.
'Your face is a bit pink,' you explain. 'Are you feeling unwell?'
She puts her hands to her cheeks, her eyes wide. She scoffs after a beat and drops them.
'It's that kriffing Mandalorian,' she huffs. Your eyes go wide. You can't remember if she ever used a curse word.
'What did he do?' you ask, wondering whether you have to ask someone to keep an eye on him.
'He… he… Argh!' she groans, throwing her hands in the air and marches away, furious. You blink, bewildered. Then, you run after her.
'Hold on, you can't me leave me hanging like that!' you call. 'Do I have to arrest him?'
'What? No!' she denies, frowning. 'He… he's just…'
'A terrible flirt,' a voice finishes. You lift your heads and see Satine walking toward you with an amused smile on her face.
'He was flirting with you, wasn't he?' she asks. Your maid gulps. Ah, that explains the flushed face.
'I am not used to men doing that,' Lanash admits and gulps. 'Is he… always like that?'
'Pretty much, I'm afraid,' the Duchess confirms, looking at her with sympathy. 'I will ask him not to do it with you. Although, that would only encourage him to do it more often.'
'Fantastic,' she grumbles. 'May gods save him.'
She walks away, annoyed. Your friend shoots you a questioning look. You barely hold back a laugh.
'The last guest that tried flirting with her against her wishes… was stabbed,' you explain. Satine gives you a shocked look. You grin at her and lead her to the gardens. She fears for her guard's life.
The Duchess turns out to be right, as no matter how many times she asks him to stop harassing your maid and how many times she bluntly responds to his charm, he continues to flirt with her. He seems to be intrigued by the way she doesn't give in. Even throwing a watermelon at him doesn't stop him. And even though she's annoyed by his antics… Lanash can't deny she's flattered by the attention… and even craves it.
He greets her with a smile every day and insists on calling her 'my lady'. He suddenly shows up when she's carrying something heavy and takes it from her. Whenever she enters the room, he waves at her and gives her a wink. And when she rolls her eyes at him, he beams at her.
He's a strange one. But despite his antics, you all rather quickly grow fond of him. Some even more than others…
*
The Mandalorians have a courtyard to their disposal for training. They train both with your soldiers and alone. It is an interesting show of abilities, watched eagerly by many. Including a certain maid…
Lanash watches with fascination the training Mandalorians. Some time passes before Axe notices her and walks to her.
'Enjoying the show, my lady?' he teases her.
'Yes, tremendously,' she answers, not at all embarrassed. 'Your fighting style… it's so much different from ours.'
'Can you fight, my lady?' he asks after a pause.
'A bit,' she answers and suddenly looks at him with interest. 'Can one of you teach me, sir?'
'If that's your wish,' he answers, surprised. 'Can I ask why, though? And why you don't ask someone from your people?'
'I like your style more,' she explains and looks away. 'And… I don't want to feel helpless ever again.'
He looks at her with compassion. He can't help but admire her spirit.
'Come here in the evening,' he decides. 'I'll teach you a thing or two.'
'You, sir?' she asks, surprised. He leans to her with a smirk. Her heart skips a beat.
'Like I would ever let the opportunity to spend more time with you pass by me, my lady,' he says. She blushes.
'How many times must I tell you, sir, I'm not a lady?' she asks. He takes her hand and kisses it.
'You are to me… my lady,' he says, his voice low.
'I… I'll return in the evening,' she manages to say. She frees her hand from his grip and hurries away. She's embarrassed but she returns in the evening. And the next few.
She's an eager and quick learner. Axe is surprised by how fast she gets the hand of everything he teaches her. But also thrilled about it. And that she seems to be more relaxed around him every day.
One day, he decides she's ready to spar with him with sticks. She's nervous about it at first, but the moment she gets into the fight, she relaxes and focuses completely on it. He's going a bit easy on her, but still makes her sweat. And the more she gets into it, the more on guard he has to be.
At one point, he trips her and knocks the weapon out of her hand. She glares at him. He smirks at her and points his stick at her chest. But he lets his guard down too soon.
She lunges for his weapon, grabs it and pulls. He lands on the ground with a yelp. He feels a tap on his chin. He looks up and sees Lanash pointing his stick at him with a smug smile.
'Do you yield?' she asks.
'Never,' he responds after a beat. He throws himself at her. She squeals when their bodies collide. They battle for the stick, but when he slams her against the wall, she drops it and it rolls away on the floor.
He presses himself against her. Suddenly, she gasps with her eyes wide. He freezes. Only now does he realize the position they are in.
His body is pressed to hers. His leg is between her legs, slightly thrusted into her- And their faces are very close to each other. The atmosphere quickly becomes tense.
Their eyes meet. Their pupils dilate. He glances at her lips, unaware she's staring at his. Then, they look each other in the eyes again. Their heart speed up. They exchange the air between them because of how close they are.
'Lanash…' he murmurs, lowering his eyes slightly. He leans toward her even more.
'Axe…' she whispers. A shiver has run down her spine when he said her name. She wants him to do it again. And he wants her to hear his name from her lips once more as well. But he just moves closer again, their lips almost touching now.
'Axe?!' they suddenly hear Koska's, another Mandalorian, voice, startling them both. Woves quickly moves away. Your maid isn't sure whether she's grateful for that or disappointed.
Reeves walks in and stops. She raises her eyebrows. A smirk forms on her face.
'Am I interrupting something?' she teases.
'Just my humiliation from being defeated,' Lanash responds and pulls away from the wall. Koska gives Axe a look.
'Did you seriously spar with her already?' she asks with disbelief.
'I'll let you know it was a demanding duel,' he says. 'She almost got me.'
Your maid beams at him. He freezes seeing that smile. Reeves shakes her head.
'It's still better if you don't tell the Duchess about it,' she says. 'She's asking for you, by the way.'
She almost snorts when they both deflate. Your maid is first to regain professionalism.
'I'll return to my duties as well, then,' she says and smiles at Woves. 'Thank you for today's lesson.'
'Thank you for the same,' he responds, fighting with the urge to swipe hair from her face. She nods at Koska and leaves, not aware of the longing look Axe shoots her.
Some time later, Lanash enters your room, already clean and in different clothes. You take one look at her and you know something is bothering her.
'Are you all right?' you ask and she freezes. 'Did something happen during your lesson with Axe?'
At first it seems she's going to deny it and assure you everything is fine. But then she frowns and bites her lips, as if battling with herself. Before she manages to say something, C-3PO enters.
'Oh, Lanash, you're back!' he says cheerfully, but then notices her expression. 'Are you quite all right? You look a bit sick.'
'Axe Woves almost kissed me!' she blurts out. For a moment you're all frozen with shock.
'Oh, that's wonderful! Threepio exclaims. You smile. But your maid is very distressed.
'No, it is not!' she disagrees.
'I agree, it would be if he actually had kissed you,' you say, tapping your chin.
'No, it would be worse!' she exclaims. You and the droid stare at her with surprise. She's breathing heavily, on the verge of panic.
'How so?' you ask, frowning. 'It seemed to me you're attracted to him and like him.'
'No! I mean, yes… I mean…' she blabbered. 'He is… and I am…'
Seeing she's about to have a panic attack, you stand up from behind your desk and walk to her. You put your hands on her shoulders and she flinches. She looks at you, scared. You smile reassuringly at her.
'Calm down,' you say. 'Then tell us what's wrong.'
She inhales and exhales for some time. She nods when she's ready and you let go of her.
'He… he's a Mandalorian,' she says. 'A soldier. A protector of the Duchess. And I… I'm just a maid. Your maid, Your Majesty, the Queen of Luth… but still just a maid.'
'I don't see how your occupations matter,' you say, frowning. She scoffs.
'We're from two different worlds!' she exclaims, waving her hands and freezes. 'Quite literally even.'
'So are me and Anakin,' you say, puzzled. 'And yet we're making it work.'
'But you were a princess and he a Jedi Knight! And… Axe is a soldier, Mandalorian, a guard, while I'm… I'm just a maid. He's a top class, like you and Skywalker. I… I am a low class. I have no right-'
'Lanash-'
'- to even dream about it.'
'Now, listen to me-'
'No, there's no point. Oh, look at the time! I'll bring you the supper, Your Majesty.'
She curtsies, turns and leaves. You stare after her, bewildered. You look at C-3PO.
'Was it like that with me and Anakin?' you ask.
'Pretty much, my lady,' the droid confirms.
'I'm verry sorry for that,' you say after a beat. When Lanash returns, you try to bring up the topic again, but she successfully avoids it. You let it go in the end. For now.
*
Lanash is braiding her hair for the night. She's already dressed in her nightgown and is sitting on her bed in her room, which is close to yours, in case you need her at night. She tries very hard not to think about the events of the day.
But just then there's a knock on her door. She looks up, surprised, and stands up. She walks to the door and opens it. She's stunned to find Axe leaning on the doorframe, a strange look in his eyes.
'You have bewitched me,' he states without any preamble. She blinks.
'I beg your pardon?' she asks. He moves away from the doorframe and stalks toward her, making her back away on instinct. He closes the door behind himself and continues to advance on her, which results in her going further into the room backwards.
'You have bewitched me,' he repeats. At that moment your maid's back hits the bedpost. He stops and places his arm above her hear, bending it. Slowly, she looks into his eyes and sees a fire burning in them. Her heart skips a beat.
'You have bewitched me,' he says once again, leaning to her. 'I can't focus. I can't sleep. The moment I close my eyes, I see your face. You are… constantly on my mind. It's even worse ever since… ever since we… we almost…'
He doesn't have to finish. She knows what he's talking about. The moment they almost kissed. She blushes. He raises his hand and moves it toward her face, as if wanting to touch it.
'What have you done to me?' he asks in a whisper. She shakes her head, not having the answer. He looks at her pleadingly, with desperation in his eyes.
'I need to know,' he says. 'Please. Please, tell me it's not just me. That…. That you have the same. That you- Please…'
She should say 'no'. For both of their sakes. But when she looks into his eyes… she knows she can't lie to him.
'Yes…' she whispers. She sees relief filling his eyes. Her heart skips a beat again. And once more when he takes her hand and kisses it.
'Lanash…' he murmurs and a shiver runs down her spine. 'I won't be able to do anything until I feel your lips against mine. Until I feel every inch of you. I need you. Please… let me…'
He moves his head to her neck. His breath tickles her, his lips almost touching her. She inhales sharply. It's hard to concentrate for her.
'I… I… I…' she tries to say. She almost gives in. But then she regains clarity.
'No,' she blurts out and pushes him away gently but firmly. He looks at her with surprise.
'"No"?' he repeats and blinks.
'No!' she confirms and starts pacing, distraught. 'I've seen the movies, thank you very much. The characters feel attracted to each other. They try to resist it but they go crazy with… with need and… longing. Finally, they decide to give in, thinking they just have to have sex and it will stop. But it doesn't. It doesn't stop, it doesn't go away and they don't forget. It gets even harder.'
'I don't want it to go away,' he denies strongly. 'And I don't want to forget.'
This time she looks at him with surprise. She frowns.
'You don't?' she asks. He shakes his head and smiles softly. He takes a step toward her. This time she doesn't back away.
'I've been drawn to you since the moment I saw you,' he reveals and looks her in the eyes. 'I don't believe it's just an attraction. I… I want to have sex with you, I'm not going to hide it. But I also want more.'
'More?' Lanash asks quietly. Slowly, hesitantly, Axe lifts his hand. When she doesn't shy away, he cups her cheek gently. A shiver runs down her spine again.
'Yes,' he confirms. 'There is something between us, I know it. I want to… find out what. Explore it. You are… extraordinary, Lanash.'
'You barely know me,' she whispers, embarrassed. He smiles. He heart skips a beat. She adores his smile…
'Oh, I'd love to get to know you more,' Axe says. 'But what I already know allowed me to come to that conclusion.'
'If anyone is extraordinary here, it's you,' she says, smiling slightly. 'You… you're an amazing warrior, a protector. Me? I'm just a simple maid.'
He caresses her cheek. Her breath hitches because of an intense gaze he gives her.
'How very wrong you are,' he says. For a moment they stare at each other. The tension in the air is palatable.
'Is there… Would you..' Woves tries to say. 'Would you like that as well? Find out what's between us? Explore it?'
'Yes…' she whispers after a moment. His heart skips a beat. He leans toward her face and they both lower their eyelids.
'Does that mean I can kiss you?' he asks quietly.
'Yes,' she answers after a pause, her heart beating fast. For a moment nothing happens, as if he is waiting, in case she changes her mind. But then his lips are on hers and it's nothing she's ever felt before.
By no means it was her first kiss. Although she'd rather forget about that one. But the next ones were nothing like this one. It's soft, gentle but also with a hint of passion. They move their lips in perfect sync. It's like they were meant for this. For each other.
They pull away after a moment, breathing heavily. Axe looks at her, dazed but also a bit nervous.
'Was that… good?' he asks.
'Hm… I may need another kiss to decide,' Lanash answers, a teasing glint in her eyes. He chuckles.
'I'm happy to oblige, my lady,' he says. He cups her other cheek and kisses her again. This time the kiss quickly becomes more heated and passionate. Your maid puts her arms around Woves neck and they press closer to each other. When they pull away again, they're both panting and their hearts are beating fast.
'I think I should go,' he says quietly. 'If I stay longer, if we continue… And I don't want to assume…'
'I don't think either of us is going to sleep tonight if we leave… things… as they are now,' she says slowly. He frowns.
'I don't want you to-' he starts. She puts a finger on his lips, silencing him.
'I want this,' she whispers. He looks at her intensely. Slowly, he slides his hands to her hips.
'Are you sure about this?' he asks. She smiles slightly and looks down for a moment.
'Just promise me it's not a one-time thing,' she asks. 'And it's not just about sex.'
'I swear,' he says seriously, leaning toward her face. She smiles and this time she's the one who initiates the kiss. They quickly become lost in it and with every moment it becomes more passionate. They undress each other, trying to separate their lips as little as possible. Axe undoes Lanash's braid, making her hair cascade down her back. He stares at her in awe.
'Stunning,' he says and she blushes. 'Absolutely stunning. But are you really sure-'
'Oh, most definitely,' she interrupts him, staring at his naked chest. 'No way I'm going to sleep alone after I saw this up close. And… the other thing.'
He chuckles and embraces her. He picks her up and lays her down on the bed. He climbs on it and looms over her. Their hearts are beating fast.
After a moment of staring at each other, he kisses her lips. Then, he presses a few kisses to her neck but he quickly starts his journey down with his kisses.
'Oh!' she gasps when he reaches her womanhood. Her eyes go wide when he pleasures her there with his tongue and fingers. She tangles her hands in his hair and pulls. He growls and speeds up, enjoying the sounds she makes. But when she's about to come, she pushes him away. He gives her a puzzled look. She smiles reassuringly.
'I want to return the favor,' she explains. He opens his mouth to protest, assure her she doesn't have to. But she shows a surprising strength and turns them over. He gives her a stunned look but it quickly turns into one of pleasure, as she strokes his manhood.
She shuffles backward and lowers her head. She takes his shaft in her mouth. He moans when she starts licking and sucking it. When he feels he's close, he gently pushes her away.
'Can I?' he asks, his voice strained. She nods and they switch positions again. He grinds against her womanhood for a moment, covering his member with her wetness. Then, he slowly enters her. They both moan once he's fully inside her.
'Oh, by the gods!' she gasps, her eyes wide. 'No one has ever filled me like that before.'
'I was made for you and you were made for me,' he says, breathing heavily. 'I'm certain of it.'
She blushes under his gaze. He looks at her as if she was some beautiful star. And to him, she is.
She gasps when he suddenly starts moving. He goes slow at first, allowing them both to get used to the feeling. She lets him know when she's ready for more, by pulling his hair and jerking her hips, and he speeds up. They moan in unison.
'Oh, Lanash…' he gasps and presses kisses to her neck. 'You're perfect. Absolutely perfect for me…'
'Axe…' she whispers and circles her arms around his neck. They look each other in the eyes and get lost in the stare of the other. They both think of the moment as magical.
During the next few minutes their hands are all over each other's bodies. They're panting, gasping, groaning and moaning. They kiss every spot of the other they can. They get lost in the pleasure and they to their best to return the favor.
'Lanash…' Woves says finally, '… I don't think I can hold much longer. But I want to feel you come around me… What do you want me to do?'
Instead of answering, your maid takes his hand and puts it on her lovebud. He gets the message and massages it. Soon, she's panting heavily and wriggling under him. A moment later she throws her head back and grabs his arms tightly.
'Axe!' she moans and comes undone. Feeling her clenching around him causes him to almost reach his peak as well. He quickly pulls out and shudders as he lets go.
'Lanash… Oh, Lanash…' he gasps and hides his face in the crook of her neck. She puts her arms around him and presses him close to herself. Both are breathing heavily.
Once they come down from their highs, they gently untangle their bodies. Woves stands up, groaning, and goes to the bathroom. He returns a moment later with a bowl filled with water and a cloth. He sits on the bed and starts cleaning your maid. She observes him closely.
'Thank you,' she says and he looks at her, puzzled. 'For pulling out. I'm not quite ready to be a mother.'
He smiles at her and finishes cleaning her, then does the same to himself. Once he's done, he puts away the bowl with the cloth and lays down next to her.
'That was… wow,' she says after a moment.
'Indeed,' he agrees. 'And amazing.'
'And very, very satisfying,' she adds.
'Also exhausting,' he admits. 'But so worth it.'
She chuckles. He turns his head and looks at her with admiration. She notices his gaze and blushes. She clears her throat after a moment.
'I think you should go,' she says quietly, even though she wants him to stay, and he looks at her with surprise. 'I don't think… I can't allow myself to be the subject of gossips. And I don't want you to be either.'
'You're probably right,' he admits after a long pause. Slowly, they stand up and redress. Once he's clothed, he steals one last kiss from her and leaves reluctantly. And after he's gone, she stares at the door longingly.
*
Lanash is distracted by something, you can tell. She's been all morning. Having enough, you clear your throat. She jumps, startled, confirming she was lost in her head.
'Something is troubling you,' you say softly. 'Don't deny it. I can see it. Whatever it is, I hope you know you can count on me. I want to help you however I can.'
She's quiet for a moment. She has a fight inside her head. You wait patiently. You even send her an encouraging smile. Finally, she turns to you, gnawing at her lip. She takes in a deep breath…
'Axe and I had sex last night,' she blurts out. C-3PO, who has just entered, stops in his tracks and drops the papers he's holding. You stare at your maid in shock. She blushes and looks away.
'I must admit, I didn't expect it to resolve so quickly,' you say after a moment, blinking. You expected at least a week of sighing and longing glances. However, you are pleased you were wrong.
'Oh, that's so wonderful!' Threepio cheers, waving his arms. 'I am so happy. Congratulations! When do you plan to get married?'
Lanash stares at him in horror. You snort.
'There is no wedding!' she denies and looks at you. 'And nothing is resolved!'
You stare at her for a moment. You stand up and walk to her. You take her hand and guide her to the couch. You both sit down. C-3PO in the meantime bends down and gently picks up the papers, but listens in.
'Tell me everything,' you ask your maid. And she does. She tells you everything that happened and was said last night. Silence falls when she finishes.
'He certainly has a way with words,' you finally say.
'Oh, not only them,' she says, nodding, her eyes a bit glassed over. You stop a smile, knowing it would embarrass her.
'What is troubling you, then?' you ask.
'You said it, my lady,' she sighs and plays nervously with her hands. 'He has a way with words. But what if they were just words? What if he's wooed me, seduced me to have what he wants… and breaks my heart when he gets bored?'
'Then I shall cut off his limbs,' C-3PO, who hasn't moved from his spot, says. 'And other things.'
She smiles at him, grateful. You ponder it.
'We could give him a warning,' you suggest and she looks at you with wide eyes. 'What? I won't damage him… hopefully.'
'I can't ask you to do that, my lady,' she says, shaking her head. 'I have to… "fight this battle" on my own. I can't have anyone else do it for me.'
You take her hands in yours. She looks at you and you smile, squeezing her hands. You want her to know you got her, no matter what.
'You were there for me when I was fighting my feelings for Anakin,' you say, carefully choosing your words. 'You helped me a lot. Let me help you now. I will just go and talk to him, ask him where does he want this to go… and warn him about possible consequences of breaking your heart. Is that okay?'
She nods after a moment and sniffs. You squeeze her hands and stand up. She looks at you with panic.
'Wait, you're going now, my lady?' she asks.
'No time like the present,' you answer and smile at her reassuringly. 'Don't worry. It's going to be fine.'
You leave the room. Lanash gulps.
'Oh, gods,' she says and inhales shakily. 'Good thing I'm already sitting.'
You leave the palace and reach the courtyard. There, you see Mandalorians sparring with your people. You quickly locate Axe and walk to him.
'Commander Woves,' you greet him and he quickly bows to you. 'I was wondering if I could have a word with you.'
'Of course, Your Majesty,' he agrees and heads with you to the side. You take him to the garden where for a moment you walk in silence. He starts to become nervous. He opens his mouth to start a conversation but you beat him to it:
'What are your intentions toward my maid?'
'I… I'm sorry?' he stutters, staring at you with shock, coming to a stop, then suddenly realizes his lack of respect. 'Ah, Your Majesty?'
You wave your hand, not caring he forgot your title. You stop as well and look at him. There's a look of pure terror on his face.
'Lanash, my maid,' you repeat. 'What are your intentions toward her?'
Axe tries to say something but all he manages to do is to stutter under your piercing gaze. You observe him closely.
'Yesterday she confessed you two almost kissed,' you reveal, putting hands behind your back and eyeing him carefully, and he looks at you with wide eyes. 'Today she told me about your late visit to her room. How you seduced her.'
'I did not-' he starts to protest but then he sighs, running a hand down his hair. 'I guess I did. But I meant every word I said. Lanash… she's… something else. I want to see what can happen between us. I care about her deeply. Maybe even- Or one day. I don't want to cause her pain. She means a lot to me.'
You observe him for a moment. Finally, you smile.
'I believe you,' you say to his relief. He smiles. But then you narrow your eyes at him, trying to look stern.
'But if you use her, hurt her or break her heart, I'll rip your heart from your chest and crush it,' you say, poking his chest. His smiles drops and his face goes pale. He's scared at the prospect, you can tell.
'Oh, and C-3PO will cut off your limps and… other body members,' you add and he looks at you with terror in his eyes. You narrow your eyes at him. He gulps.
'Is that understood?' you ask.
'Y-yes, Your Majesty,' he answers, his voice weak. You beam at him.
'Wonderful!' you say. 'Have a nice day!'
You turn around and walk away, leaving a bewildered and white on the face Axe Woves behind you. A few moments later you're in your chambers. Lanash and Threepio rush to you, very anxious.
'You two look as if there was a possibility I kill him,' you say, frowning. It should worry you more, you think.
'Well, I believe you would if he said he has ill intentions for Lanash,' C-3PO says. Your maid looks at him nervously.
'Maybe not kill him but who knows…' you admit, tapping your chin with your finger. 'Luckily, I believe he doesn't.'
'No?' Lanash asks with hope. You smile and take her hands in yours. She looks at them and then at your face.
'He seemed sincere to me,' you confirm. 'You can give it a shot.'
'Really?' she asks, unsure again. You sigh.
'Yes, really,' you promise, squeezing her hands. 'Now, go on with the day with a smile on your face. Understood?
'Yes, my lady,' she answers, already smiling slightly. You let go of her hands and she walks out of the room.
'Threepio?' you ask after a beat and the droid at once stands to attention, always ready to serve you. 'Can you ask someone to keep an eye on Commander Woves? You know, just in case.'
'Of course, my lady,' C-3PO answers.
'Thank you,' you say and head to your office. Time to start working.
*
You and Satine are sitting in the garden, enjoying tea. It's been some time since the start of your agreement.
'I'm glad by how it all turned out,' she says and sighs. 'And I'm glad I'm going to get my Mandalorians back. However, I'm worried about Axe.'
'Oh?' you ask, sipping your tea. She gives you a look.
'I am aware of his relationship with Lanash,' she informs you. 'I didn't want to embarrass him. Or discourage him. Because I honestly don't know what is going to happen to them now.'
'They're in love,' you say softly. 'That's clear. I've watched them for the past few weeks and… there's so much love in their gazes and smiles.'
'Oh, I'm sure they're in love,' she agrees and frowns with worry. 'And that's troubling me. There's no way to tell when they're going to see again. Or if at all. Axe will not abandon Mandalore. And Lanash would rather die than to leave you.'
'I know,' you sigh and massage your temples. 'But no matter what we can advise them… it's their decision in the end.'
In the meantime, Lanash is walking through the corridors, humming, a bellflower she got last night from Axe in her hair. She's never been so happy. Her… relationship… with Woves is going well. They spend together every moment they can spare. He makes her smile, laugh. He makes her feel cherished and cared about. They both keep giving each other small things, wanting to make the other one smile. She doesn't dare to say it out loud yet, but she's certain she's falling for him. Hard.
While thinking about that, she's suddenly yanked by her arm into a nearby closet. Some time ago she'd scream. She did scream a first few times. Because at least once a week Axe 'kidnaps' her into rooms like that.
'Hi,' she says, grinning, her chest pressed to his. He smiles back at her but it doesn't reach his eyes.
'Hello, beautiful,' he greets her and presses a kiss to her forehead. She frowns and takes his hands, that've been resting on her hips, in hers.
'What's wrong?' she asks. He looks away. He struggles with what he's about to say.
'We're about to return to Mandalore,' he finally explains and her heart stops. She tries to school her features.
'When?' she asks quietly.
'Tomorrow,' he answers after a beat and looks at her with despair. 'I don't want to leave you, sunshine. I thought the news of coming home will fill my heart with joy. But when the Duchess showed up, watched out training and informed us we're coming back… it filled it with sorrow and protest.'
'I don't want you to leave either,' she says and forces a sad smile. 'But we both knew it's going to happen eventually. We can… There is a chance…'
She can't bring herself to say it. Working in two different cities, like it is sometimes the case in some relationships, is a one thing. But on two different planets? She was a fool to entertain the idea it can work.
'Lanash,' he says, his eyes shining, and presses her hand to his heart. 'There never will be another woman for me.'
'You're being silly,' she says, her voice strained. 'We've spent together barely weeks.'
'The moment I laid my eyes on you my soul recognized yours as the one it's meant for,' he says. 'It just took my mind longer to understand that. But I do now.'
He cups her cheek. Her heart is beating like crazy. Deep down she understands what he's about to say.
'Lanash Kijalah,' he says seriously but softly, 'I love you. My heart and soul belong to you.'
'You can't mean that,' she whispers after a moment, stunned.
'I do and I can prove it to you,' he says and takes her hands in his. 'Come with me. I'm not asking you to marry me, at least not yet. But let me show you how deep are my feelings for you. That we are meant for each other. I will look after you. You can be whoever you want to be on Mandalore.'
'I can't,' she says after a long pause and frees herself from his grasp. 'I can't go with you. I can't be whoever I want to be on Mandalore. I can't be yours…'
He frowns. Her heart breaks.
'Why not?' he asks.
'You're a commander of Mandalorian army,' she says. 'And I'm the maid of the Queen of Luth. We both have our duties. We both love our jobs. I can't ask you to abandon all that for me. Don't ask me to do it for you.'
'I'm not-' he starts.
'You are,' she interrupts him. 'You ask me to leave my life behind in a day's time. I… I may share… your feelings. But I don't want to sacrifice my life for you. No matter how much it breaks my heart.'
'… I see. Is there anything I can do or say to change your mind?'
'… No. I'm sorry, Axe… I… I've never been this happy as I was with you. And this goodbye breaks my heart. Hurting you breaks my heart.'
'Then let's not end this. If you don't want to come with me, we can try a long-distance relationship.'
At once Lanash is reminded of you and Anakin. You have that relationship. You're making it work. But she sees how every day you suffer from being away from the one you love. What brings you comfort is the hope that one day, after the war ends, you're going to be together. But she and Woves… they don't have it.
'It won't work,' she says, shaking her head. She cups his face and kisses him softly, trying to pour all her feelings into it. His lips cling to hers desperately, not wanting it to end. But she pulls away, tears shining in her eyes.
'Goodbye, Axe,' she whispers. 'Thank you for everything. I will always carry you in my heart.'
'My heart will always belong to you,' he says sadly, his eyes shining as well. She forces herself to turn around and hurries away, as far as possible from him, from the heartbreak.
In the evening you don't see Lanash. Worried about her, you go to her room. You find her on her bed, sobbing into the pillow. Your heart aches for her. You lay down next to her and hug her, comforting and supporting her.
After some time, she sits up. You help her dry her eyes. For a long moment none of you says anything.
'He asked me to leave with him,' she finally says. 'I refused. Why should I, a woman, be the one to sacrifice my life? Why can't he? Why can't he stay?'
Her voice breaks at the end of the last sentence. You quickly put your arm around her.
'Situations like this are very hard for our people,' you say after a pause. 'We're raised in a belief that there's nothing more important than love. That we should follow our hearts and cherish the ones we love. Make sacrifices for them. But we're also taught our job, no matter what it is, is important and we should do it with honor. I know your heart is torn right now, between being with the one it yearns for and between your duty to me.'
'I don't want to choose…' she whispers. 'You're both so important to me. I can't leave you. You need me. But letting him go… it hurts so much.'
'I know what you feel,' you say quietly after a beat. 'I miss Anakin every moment I'm not with him. Yet my situation is different than yours. We share faith that one day we can be together in the open, spend more time together. But you… you have no guarantee it will happen.'
'Exactly,' she chokes out and hides her face in her hands. 'I can't have him and this job. But choosing one breaks my heart. It's not worth it…'
You stare at her sadly. You put a hand on her shoulder and smile slightly.
'Love always is,' you say softly. 'But I don't think I'm the best person to give you advice. However… someone else can. Someone we both know. Someone who gave up their life for love. Left their planet for it.'
'Who?' she asks, looking up at you with confusion.
'Cliegg Lars,' you answer. 'Shmi's husband.'
Next day, early in the morning, your maid is knocking on the door of the Lars' house. Anakin's mother opens the door. She blinks, surprised.
'Lanash, what an unexpected pleasure,' she says and looks at her with worry. 'It is a pleasure, right? Nothing bad happened? Is Ani-?'
'Everything is fine,' Kijalah interrupts her and winces. 'Well, not exactly, but your son is fine. The Queen as well. But I… I'm not so much. I came here for an advice.'
'Come in,' your mother-in-law invites her. They both come inside. The family is finishing breakfast. They're all surprised at the visit.
'I'm sorry to intrude,' your maid says guiltily.
'Nonsense, we're done anyway,' Beru says, standing up. 'How can we help you?'
'Lanash came her for an advice,' Shmi explains.
'We'll leave you to it, then,' Cliegg says, raising as well.
'Actually…' Kijalah stops him, '… it's you I need an advice from, Mr. Lars.'
Everyone looks at her with surprise. They exchange a look and all leave except for Shmi's husband. He sits down and invites his guest to do the same. For a moment they sit in silence.
'Was it worth it?' she finally asks. 'Following Shmi here? Abandoning your whole life, tradition of your family? Leaving your home world?'
'Hard? Yes. But worth it? Absolutely,' he answers and smiles fondly. 'Do I miss Tatooine, my farm? Yes. But Shmi makes it all worth it. She's the best thing that has happened to me. With time thanks to love you come to realize home is not a place, but a person you love.'
'But your farm… it was in your family for generations, was it not?' she asks. 'And what about the people who were depended on it?'
'Yes, and I sometimes feel guilty for leaving it,' he admits. 'But they all understood. And no matter how much your job matters to you, how much you love it, it's not worth hurting the person you love when you choose it over them.'
'But what when both people have job they love? Who should be the one to leave and follow the other person?'
'Ah, that's a tricky question. Sometimes, like the case of me and Shmi, the fate has decided. She had to leave, so I had to be the one to leave my job behind. Maybe the people you're talking about should give each other time? See if the fate, Force, gods will find a solution for them. But don't give up on love. No matter the hardships, it is always worth it.'
It's late when Lanash finally reaches the landing platform. So late that the Mandalorian ship is already high on the sky, about to leave the atmosphere. She stops, shocked. Tears fill her eyes. She can't believe she's too late.
Suddenly, a hand is on her shoulder. She jumps, startled. She turns her head and is met with your determined stare.
'Come with me,' you order and turn around. She follows you into the palace and then to your chambers. You go to your office and start calling someone.
'My lady?' your maid asks you, confused. You stop before pressing the dial button and look at her. You stare at each other for a minute.
'That look you had in your eyes when you ran onto the landing platform… I saw it in the mirror when I decided to fight for Anakin,' you say. 'Because he was worth it. I do not regret my decision. Is Axe worth fighting for?'
The sadness in her eyes turns into determination. She nods her head. You press the button. A moment later a hologram of confused Woves shows up.
'Your Majesty, is something the matter?' he asks, worried.
'Commander, could I speak to you in private?' you ask. He frowns but nods.
'If you could just wait a moment, Your Majesty,' he asks and starts walking somewhere.
'Take your time,' you assure him. You wait for him to stop walking. He closes the door behind himself and looks at your face again.
'I'm alone now, Your Majesty,' he informs you. You smile.
'There's someone here that wishes to speak with you,' you say and step aside. Hesitantly, Kijalah takes your place. The Mandalorian's eyes go wide.
'Lanash…' he says, shocked. Her eyes fill with tears.
'Axe…' she chokes out. 'I'm so sorry I missed your take off. I… I needed to get some advice. It took longer than I hoped it would.'
'Advice?' he repeats, confused but also a bit hopeful, you think. 'About…?'
'About us,' she answers and inhales shakily. 'I talked with a man who left his home planet for the woman he loves. I needed to know if it was worth it. If he doesn't regret his decision.'
'And?' he asks eagerly. 'What did he say?'
Your maid shakes her head. She blinks away her tears.
'He doesn't,' she answers. 'He's happy and he says leaving his life behind was worth it. But I… I'm not ready for that yet. However… I don't want to lose you…'
'I don't want to lose you either, my darling,' he says softly. You attempt to back away discreetly, but Kijalah sends you a panicked look. You stop. She turns her attention back to her beloved.
'I love you, Axe,' she whispers and his eyes go wide. 'And I want to give us a chance. I know we've known each other for a short time. But you were right. Our souls recognized each other the day we met. So, while for now neither of us is willing to let go of the lives we have, let's try a long-distance relationship. Maybe the gods will decide for us. But I know I won't ever be happy if I don't have you in my life.'
'I feel exactly the same,' he says with a hopeful smile. 'And I'm willing to give a long-distance relationship a chance. I will call you every day. And visit you whenever I can.'
'I will as well,' she promises, smiling, and eyes you. 'The Queen is travelling more often now. Be it battlefront or some political visit. I'm sure she wouldn't mind a detour…'
'Oh, I absolutely will not mind,' you assure her. She grins and blushes.
'We can do it, Lanash,' Axe says. 'I know we can. It will work. And when the time comes, we will decide what's next together. I love you.'
'And I love you,' she says and chuckles. 'I'm sorry for breaking your heart.'
'Don't be,' he says, shaking his head. 'I understand you were afraid. And I promise I'm ready to wait for you for as long as you need.'
He turns his head. He sighs and looks at his beloved again.
'But now I'm afraid I have to go,' he says. 'But I will call you once we land and settle down. I love you, my darling.'
'I'll wait,' she says, nodding. 'I love you, too.'
She ends the call. She exhales shakily and looks at you. You smile at each other and you to go hug her. She relaxes in your embrace.
'It will be all right,' you murmur. 'I'll help you in any way you need me.'
'Thank you, my lady,' she whispers. 'For everything.'
'Of course,' you say and hug her tighter. 'Of course, Lanash.'
When she leaves, you make another call. A moment later Anakin's hologram shows up. He looks at you with concern.
'[Y/N], is everything all right?' he asks.
'Everything's fine,' you assure him. 'Just something happened that made me want to see you.'
'And that something is?' he asks. You shake your head.
'It doesn't matter,' you say and smile sadly. 'I just wanted you to know I love you and I miss you. My heart yearns for you.'
'I know, my star,' he sighs. 'I feel exactly the same. But we must be strong. I have faith we will be together soon.'
'I know,' you assure him. You share a soft look.
'I have to go,' he says after a moment, gazing at you with pain in his eyes.
'Stay safe,' you say. 'I love you.' 'And I love you,' he says. You smile once more and he ends the call. You sigh heavily and walk to your window. You gaze at the sky outside, hugging yourself. When will you finally have your husband by your side?

top 5 side characters?
this didn’t clarify from what media so. you get a whole collection
1. hytham assassin’s creed valhalla. he’s my guy of all time yes he has like five scenes counting generously yes he’s one of my favorite characters in the franchise. i think there’s so much there considering his relationship to his disability, to basim, to the raven clan, to evior. constructing my thesis on why he should have been a companion in all the city arcs and the romance and also in the final parts of the game. i can’t wait for him to not be in mirage at all 🤡
2. paz vizsla. i didn’t write a 40k fic about him for nothing. he’s my best friend who exists in my head bc i have refused to watch Mando 3 love and light
3. beru whitesun I LOVE HERRRR. dedicated mother and daughter of tatooine. thinking about the au where she’s anakin’s sister >>>>>
4. shmi skywalker. I love her I love to think about her she is a reborn ancient deity and a lesbian. to me.
5. deimos/alexios from odyssey. idk maybe It’s just because I’ve been replaying but. nothing gets me more than sibling narratives and like. I want him and Kassandra to be happy

The racists are trying to gotcha with the post about Shmi Skywalker actually having some sort of freedom in her death. But, I agree with you; after a lifetime of slavery, Cliegg Lars (affiliated with Beru Whitesun, who was an abolitionist) freed her, and *then* married her. She finally got to *choose* something for once in her life, and she chose to stay with him, even though he lived and worked in dangerous territory. It was tragic that she died, but even she said she died “complete.”
Funniest thing is that was a thinking-out-loud kinda post more than anything else. Spitballing. Seeing if an idea works. Not sure why anyone's getting that upset.
I mean, I've also said that I think Shmi pulled a shitty card in the narrative? Her onscreen time is so limited. AotC had to go at a breakneck pace to work in "she's free and she fell in love and she's a stepmother and she's happy and also she's dying" in about ten minutes. No wonder people struggle to figure out what the fuck happened with Cliegg.
...basically my issue seems to keep falling back to the way that people refuse to admit that the prequels have narrative issues that muddy their intent. Like, the movie itself never did a good job with Shmi in the first place. We can admit that and still like the movie. Literally nothing wrong with that.
The bar Shmi's death set was a low one, was sort of my whole point. She dies to serve Anakin's arc, but at least an unrelated in-universe maniac didn't hunt her down and kill her specifically to make Anakin feel bad. Satine's death is just such an appendage of Obi-Wan (and in particular Obi-Wan's heterosexuality, with her entire role of putting Obi-Wan in a more heteronormative light) that it's pathetic.

have u been sent miss beru whitesun for the character asks yet? or luke skywalker if u have
No I have not! But thank you she’s my beloved < 3
Favorite thing about them:
I always love a parental figure. Anyway she's aunt/mother of the year. Took Luke in no questions asked. Always had his back.
Least favorite thing about them:
Dies : (
Favorite line:
Ok I just laugh in a new hope when she’s like “luke has too much of Anakin in him” girl you met Anakin once
brOTP:
Absolutely fascinated by what her relationship with Shmi could be- of course they’d have a really good mother/daughter in law dynamic, I’d actually be really interested in it. I know there’s a little bit in the AOTC novelization. Oh, and Padme. Their lives are so completely different they don’t totally know what to make of each other. Peli Motto and her could be buddies too. Beru stops by whenever she’s in Mos Eisley.
OTP:
I don’t like, actively ship her with anyone but Owen’s fine she can keep her husband. Although I’ve also seen people ship her with Peli and no complaints there.
nOTP:
if there are weird beru ships out there I’m (almost) impressed with the star wars fandom. I don’t think there are but if I’m wrong ignorance is bliss ???
Random headcanon:
In a new hope you see all of these flowers and shrubs around the Lars ranch these are Beru’s and they’re her pride and joy
Unpopular opinion:
I don’t know if unpopular is the right word- but I’ve seen some really bad takes about her (and Owen.) Anyway they were good parents and you can’t blame them for keeping Obi-wan away, if he trained Luke in the force and it was discovered he could be killed
Song I associate with them:
Ooooooooh good question. I do not have a beru playlist yet but if I make one, The Killer’s Read My Mind and Mitski’s I Will would be on it.
Favorite picture of them:
Tatooine sunset at the end of Revenge of the Sith !

If anyone else wants to send me a character please do !

10 and 39 for star wars asks?
star wars asks!
10. Which character do you feel is most like you?
i project WAY too much on leia organa to answer anyone else for this question. i do tend to switch between luke and leia for which character i'm projecting on that day, which is why i love the twins so much, but i definitely clock more time crying about leia's relatability than i do about luke's, lmao.
39. If you wrote a 'fix-it fic', what would you write about?
oh. uh. yeah, there are so many options for this lmao. i guess it depends on what you categorize as "fix-it fics" -- are we changing major plot points, or do i just get to mess with minor details that i take issue with? because if we're changing entire movies, i'm definitely rewriting the entire sequel trilogy. but if we're keeping canon with only a few minor adjustments, here are some fics i'd write:
sabé (and the rest of padmé's handmaidens, if we're really getting self-indulgent) got involved in the rebellion in various ways. one of them was leia's childhood nurse and that's actually the face leia remembers as her [birth] mother's
anakin was 14 when the jedi first came to tatooine (i have a whole post about this but basically i think it makes the whole "being afraid of his anger" make more sense and really establishes his lifelong feeling of not belonging with the jedi)
yodito's name is something that isn't grogu. this is just me being picky but i think it should be something cuter, lmao
beru was the most influential force in luke's life, and instead of owen being shmi's stepson, beru was her adoptive daughter and owen was the random guy she married. in terms of names, luke grapples with what he wants "skywalker" to mean, dreams in scattered flashes of being called organa, and wears "whitesun" comfortably when he wants to be seen as his aunt's nephew and nothing else
(i don't have any minor changes to the sequel trilogy listed here because as soon as i started thinking about potential ones, i started getting angry about the whole thing. i probably wouldn't change any minor details of the sequel trilogy without changing the whole thing, honestly -- the canon form of those three movies just plain doesn't really interest me as something to edit.)
