Can you please write something for Tim Bradford where the reader is his rookie? Kind of like a grumpy /sunshine fic?? I just started watching the rookie and I'm literally in love with him😩
reckless smiles
Tumblr media
warnings: probably swearing, mentions of DV & guns, other police stuff, nepotism (oops)
a/n: got you anon! hope this works! 🙈🙈 as always, asks are SO open! i’m working on a part two to the other TR fic i posted (per request) and if anyone likes this one there’s another small fic in this little mini series already written that i could post! it’s the call with barnaby <3 anyways, ENJOY!!
Sergeant Grey stands at the front of the briefing room. You’re sitting in the front row (like all rookies do), just happy to be here, beside fellow trainees Nolan, West, and Chen. “Rookies!” booms the sergeant, “today, we’re going to switch things up. Nolan you’re with Lopez, Chen with Bishop, West with me,” your face falls, smile collapsing completely, morphing into something else as you realize who's left to pair up with. Who you’ll be riding with today.
Tim Bradford.
Nolan leans over from his chair. He rests his hand on your shoulder while standing up and moving past you. But first, “You’ll be okay,” he assures—Chen, Bradford’s usual victim, doesn’t say a thing. Instead she shoots you a squashed smile and mouths “good luck,” you know you’ll need it but… but you’ll make the best out of it. Like always.
You steel your expression, trying to wipe away the upset that slipped onto your face momentarily. Despite Tim Bradford being the biggest asshole in the LAPD he’s your superior and you were raised to respect rank… even if you don’t respect the person.
“L/n, you’re with Bradford. Try not to kill each other. You’re good cops, we need you both.”
“She’s a boot. Hardly a cop,” Tim Bradford, asshole extraordinaire, chimes in.
“This batch of rookies is a good one and you know that. L/n is a legacy, top scores in the academy and a record number of arrests for her first year on the force. That’s not easily dismissable.”
Officers began to trickle out of the room, Lopez and Bishop were the first to leave, and then your friends—their rookies, Nolan and Chen, with.
“Feeding me to the wolves, West?” Jackson grins back at you, shrugs, and the door shuts behind him. Even Grey leaves, not wanting to be a part of this. The entire briefing room is empty save from you, Tim Bradford, and Smitty. Smitty, who has his hand inside a miniature bag of popcorn and his feet crossed at the ankles and stacked on top of the desk in front of him. He smacks loudly and Tim shoots him a withering glare. “Fine, fine,” he says, palms raised, “I’ll go. Just uh… tell me how it–”
“Smitty!”
He leaves the briefing room and then you’re left alone.
“Boot,”
“Sir,” you echo.
“I know you’re used to special treatment but that’s not how I work. I’ll be driving,” sure you (with your history) love to be behind the wheel but that’s not a problem, Tim doesn’t let Lucy drive either, it isn’t bias, just how he does things. “You do what I say when I say–none of that reckless idiotic behaviour I hear about from Harper. Just because she has unorthodox methods does not mean you should be copying them. You’re a rookie. Today, my rookie.”
“I don’t expect special treatment. And yes sir.”
Tim crosses his arms across his chest and tilts his head ever so slightly. He can’t figure you out–it frustrates him that he wants to. You’re always smiling and even now, looking at him with as close to a frown as he’s ever seen on your face, there’s something in your eyes. Not happiness but challenge, maybe? Determination. A sparkle that can’t be dimmed. Not with his shouting, not with his Tim-Tests. He almost takes it as a challenge. He almost tries to break you, to interrupt that inability to back down–the one he knows will get you killed.
The next week is awful but every day you show up to work with a smile (sometimes faux–but fake it until you make it and all that) and the drive to do better, to impress him.
You can’t.
At a DV call, the assaulted woman is terrified. Tim, he would leave that detail out, instead focusing on your shortcomings (how he had threatened to give you a blue page, how you sat there and took it: “I’d understand, is all I’m saying. If you need to put that blue page in my file, go ahead. And I know my lack of regret is not making this better for myself but… I’d do it again,”) that when the victim pulled a gun and pointed it at your head, after you arrested her husband, you decided to take away Tim’s shot. She was frantic and angry, losing her absolute mind, but moreover she was scared and when she pointed the gun at you–safety off, finger pulsing over the trigger because all of her was shaking. Tim had her in his crosshairs. You saw this and moved. You moved, knowing she would follow, and putting yourself at risk while making sure she couldn’t be killed. In your eyes, she was still the victim. She did fire her weapon. Into the ceiling, after you knocked the gun away.
Two similar incidents follow. Ones where you put yourself in needless danger.
You’re reckless. Impulsive. He’s seen you speed off duty, seen you sweet-talk the would-be arresting officer, give him your number and drive away scott free. All because of your smile, because of the twinkle in your eyes. The brightness, the innocent glow. Tim has seen you out at the club, drinking your bodyweight in booze, dancing and singing karaoke, and even a Clip Tok video of you soaking wet after diving into a partially frozen lake to rescue a dog. The public went wild over that one–Aaron Thorsen was in frame too, boosting the videos popularity. Tim could recognize the sentiment. It was great how determined you were, how kind you were, and the soft spot you had for animals and people alike but he was there and had hated every second of that terrifying call.
Tim corrects you, you smile and take it, switching your coffee into your other hand, handing the one you bought him over.
Tim shouts at you, that’s fine, you smile and take it.
That’s what you do, what you’ve always done: smile and endure.
“It’s downpouring, good thing our shift is almost over.”
“I’ve always liked the rain. It’s nice,”
“What part of getting rained on is nice, Boot? It’s basically the sky crying.”
“We need rain. If it’s good for plants it can’t be bad for us.”
“I find that logic flawed.”
“You find a lot of logic flawed, sir.”
“What was that?”
You tell him nothing, that you didn’t mean it, and your shift is over. Heading back to the station to grab your things you make your way into the locker room. Lucy’s there, pulling on her jacket and taking out her umbrella. “How do you do it, Luce?” you ask.
“Do what?”
“Deal with Tim. He hates me. I try so hard and he just hates me,”
“I don’t think…”
“He does. You know he does. He hates me because of my last name, because he doesn’t think I’m a good cop. Because I smile. I don’t know what to do. No one’s ever hated me for smiling before…”
“I’m sorry,” she says. “Just hang in there. We’ve only got a few months left before we’re P2s then Grey’ll let you ride with someone else, I’m sure. Maybe with me–how about it?”
You nod, and give Lucy a small smile. She sees through it, how tired you look, how defeated. She rests her hand on your shoulder. “I’ve got to get going. Jackson’s waiting for me–I said I’d cook tonight.”
“See ya, Luce. Have a goodnight and say ‘hi’ to West for me.”
“Of course.”
Lucy slings her bag over her shoulder and leaves the locker room. The door swings open a second time and in walks Tim. He’s silent as he walks over to you. As he mirrors your movements across the small room, grabbing his own things from the cubby space.
Hehearditallhehearditallhehearditall.
You paste a smile on, almost wincing as you slip past him and– “Boo–Y/n.”
Your back faces him and all of you wants to keep it that way. My shift is over–I don’t have to endure, you think, but then you hear your father’s voice. Hear his lessons on respect, on how things should work in the department, how to interact with coworkers, superiors–even the awful ones. You turn to him, you look up, meet his icy blue eyes and repress a shiver. You forget to smile. Your slips stay pressed into a small line as you look at him, realizing that you are too close. You’re too close and you should back up but you can’t. Your breathing heavily, you realize Tim is too. He’s looking down at you with melting eyes. The frost, the coldness, seem to fade away as his hand flys to the back of your neck.
Your tongue darts out, wets your lips, and then his press to yours. Your eyes flutter shut, your body reacting to his touch while your mind hasn’t caught up. TimBradfordiskissingme. MyTOiskissingme. Those thoughts are the only ones that make it through the fog. The questions are satiated by how he’s making you feel. His lips are warm and soft, like his breath, when he pulls away for a moment, eyes boring into your own. “Is this–”
“Yes,” you say. It’s okay. It’ssookay. Betterthanokay. You nod a few times for clarification and one of his large hands lands on the small of your back, pressing you to him, the other moves beside your head as he pushes you against the wall, caging you in.
You’ve never been more okay with being trapped. By him, by his mouth.
His kisses were talking and when they stopped, he was ready to.
Staring down at you with a fast beating heart (no match for the rate your own was thumping in your chest at) he smiled back, for once. It was infectious. A grin split your face and you felt blissful, for a moment. Like you and Tim were the only two in the world, like nothing else mattered, like you were floating in a bubble, transcending your problems and surroundings.
It was a nice bubble, “I don’t hate you.”
Until he popped it. Until he reminded you of what had just happened, of what led to this and the conversation you had with Lucy–the one he overheard.
“I don’t hate you,” he said.
“I don’t believe you,” you blurt.
He raises a brow. His expression says ‘you don’t believe me? After that?’ and fair enough, because all you believe now is that you’re incredibly confused. Incredibly, very confused.
“You yell at me, you constantly talk about how I’m not ready to be a cop, you regularly threaten to give me blue pages and criticize what I do in my freetime–”
“None of that means I hate you.”
“It doesn’t make it seem like you like me! You get mad at me for smiling!”
“I don’t… okay, I get annoyed sometimes but it’s situational. When I’m reaming you out, you shouldn’t be smiling.”
“It’s that or cry! I don’t like being yelled at.”
“I don’t like when you put yourself at risk constantly. That’s why I yell, that’ why I reprimand you. You’ll make a damn good cop but no one wants you to make yourself a fucking martyr. No one wants you to put everything else–the job, a dog–above your own life! I get mad because I care,” he argues. Then lowly, “too damn much.”
“Bradford…”
“It’s Tim, to you.”
“I’m sorry. I don’t mean to worry anyone. I just…” you trail off, Tim still watching you closely. “I can’t not try to save someone. I became a cop to do good, to help people, not to hurt them, to shoot them, to arrest innocents and victims of circumstance. There’s enough awfulness in the world that I don't want to contribute. I didn’t…”
“Didn’t what?”
“I didn’t want to be a cop but it’s what my family does–I like the job now, but the way I work it, you know?”
“I get it. I do. You just need to be more careful. You weren’t even on the clock on that call,”
You’re not exactly sure which call he’s referencing. You’ve intervened a few too many times when you shouldn’t have been on duty. It’s how you have (as said by Grey) ‘a record number of arrests for your first year on the force’ because you don’t let injustice slide just because you’re not getting paid. That, and because you’re ridiculously nosey.
“What call?”
“With the drug dealer and that stupid dog.”
“Hey,” you scold. “Barnaby is far from stupid.”
“Barnaby?”
“Yeah. He was a stray so I kept and named him. We trauma bonded–no way I was letting him go to a shelter after that.”
“No, no, that makes sense. I’m just wondering how the hell you came up with Barnaby.
You shrug; it’s a good name.
“Bradford!” shouts Grey, “you in there?”
Tim walks towards the door, shouting back and confirming his presence.
“My office! There’s something I need to talk to you about.”
“Alright!” Tim turns to you, he mouths his goodbyes and slips from the room leaving you incredibly confused.

Hi!! I’ve heard that some people are able to smell when rain is coming. How would the neighbors react if they were outside with the human and they just pause and sniff the air and say: “we gotta start packing up it’s gonna rain soon.” And they’re like what now.
I've thought about this before, but never wrote anything down. Thanks for giving me a reason to!
If you like my work, please consider commissioning me or leaving a tip on Ko-fi (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)
The sent of rain
Tumblr media
★ The sent of rain, also called petrichor, is pretty common. Many people notice it before a storm. It's mostly caused by oils released from plants, bacteria in soil like geosmin, and moisture shifts in the air. Some people might be more sensitive to it than others.
★ You're one of those people. Maybe you spent a lot of time outside. Or perhaps you were just wired that way. Either way, you never thought it was all that special. Not before living in Home.
★ Now you have neighbors who are sensitive to the rain. So, naturally, you try warning them. "You should go inside, it's about to rain." Each one staired at you. Confused as to how you would know that. Writing you off. Then regretting it...
★ Julie is a rainbow monster. A creature that's closely tied to nature. And even she didn't know that was a thing. "How do you do that?!?" The sky was clear! There was no way you could've known it was going to rain!
★ Sally looks like you betrayed her by not saying anything sooner. "Can you predict a meteor shower too?!?" Mind racing with possibilities. What a wonderful talent! It's almost as impressive as Eddie lifting up Home!
★ Some dogs have a great senses of smell. Barnaby is not one of them. As the first raindrops fall, he turns to you. "Heh." He chuckles while scratching a ear. "Didn't know you could do that?" Sounding slightly unsure.
★ Poppy doesn't like leaving her home that often, but she appreciates the heads up. Though it doesn't change the fact she's confused. How on earth would you know it's about to rain??? "It just smells like mud to me."
★ "You smelled what?" Frank asks with clear confusion. Pulling out his trusty notepad to jot down what you just said. Frank wouldn't have believed you, had he not seen you predict the weather with his own two eyes. He's thought about getting a barometer. But why bother with you around?
★ Eddie got caught in the rain while making his afternoon deliveries. It happens sometimes. But this time, you warned him... And he didn't listen. Now he feels kind of dumb. "Is this a human thing? Or you thing?" He asks. "A bit of both."
★ Of course Howdy uses it to make a sale. "Rain?" He gasps. Loud enough for everyone to hear. "Well, you better grab an umbrella!" Not believing it will actually rain. But pleasantly surprised when you're proven right.
★ You warned Wally as he was painting outside. Not the sky, but the clouds. And was halfway done. Knowing he would be devastated if it got ruined. Thankfully, he listened to you. Not questioning how you would know that.

Can you write some Merula Snyde headcanons?? 👀👀
(Smut or non smut, you decide)
Heyyy, yes I can ^^
‎‧₊˚✧ Merula Snyde Headcanons ✧˚₊‧
By me (?. This time only sfw headcanons. TRIGGER WARNING: THERE ARE SMALL MENTIONS OF ALCOHOL, CIGS AND TATTOOS. Let's goooo
Tumblr media
Merula is the complete opposite of the clean-girl aesthetic and lifestyle: she stays up all night, falls asleep on any couch in the Slytherin common room with her makeup on, often skips meals, does her makeup with dirty brushes or just her fingers, loves black coffee without any sugar on it, (in her adulthood) may have only Jack Daniels for breakfast, a couple of cigs or just two sweets, etc. Don't worry, the older she gets, the more aware she becomes of what is wrong, and little by little, she starts to take better care of her health.
Merula hates spicy food. She avoids tasting it at all costs because immediately after tasting it, her eyes water and her face and ears get red and hot.
Without the enchantment she put on herself to make them look violet, her eyes are a rather pretty hazel colour.
Although Merula knows how to do magic without a wand, she prefers doing it with a wand because she feels it looks more elegant and impressive.
Merula has an average height of 1.60 - 1.65 m.
Her makeup bag is one of the most disorganised, dirty and broken in existence. She carries that everlasting makeup that belonged to her mother or aunt many years ago, and for some reason, it still won't run out. Her brushes had never been washed, and some blush broke inside the bag, making it all dirty and messy. But somehow, she manages to always get spectacular makeup done.
Merula can't whistle, and she is kinda resentful of Barnaby because he can do it without any effort.
Merula actually has a really good singing voice and a pretty decent musical ear, although (ironically) she doesn't brag about it much. In her early adulthood, while she was figuring out what career to pursue, she became part of a local grunge band for some time.
As an adult, Merula filled almost every inch of her body with tattoos. The first tattoos she got were in her last year at Hogwarts to cover her knees, and she was extremely proud of them. I personally think she got something like this:
Tumblr media
When Merula sleeps, she does so with a frown on her face and her mouth slightly open.
Merula hates the feeling of having long hair. She can only stand to let it grow until it barely covers her neck from behind.
Her hair is quite damaged due to a lot of hot showers, a lot of teasing, lots of bleaching and dying some parts of it, and cutting it with any kind of scissors, razors or spells.
L E S B I A N.
She is the type of person who has extremely long relationships, at least they last 4 years. And although she has a hard time formalising at first, she is the most loyal person in the world once they are exclusive.
In her early days at Hogwarts, she used to hang out a lot only with Ismelda. As the years passed, her personality and her social circle changed. So she started hanging out with more people, like Chiara, Jae, Talbott, MC, Viktor, Liz, and other students in different years.
She doesn't like Ben since his personality changed. She prefers to avoid being around him or alone with him.
And that's all for today. I hope you liked them ^^

BARNABY’S FACE IN THAT WANTED POSTER LOL
Ok there was no distortion in the ending…That’s good lol
I love the story it’s pretty funny lol
The next one is “The Julie Guide to Being Joyful”

I JUST REALIZED THAT WALLY IS GONE IN THE GUESTBOOK TOO WHAT
Ok I think that’s everything in the main website for now…Let’s check the secret website lol
Ok it seems the new ones are “April 12, 2025”, “Joy”, and “Toy Box”
The journal entry tho…I’m scared…
Also the Joy soda…
For some reason, I can’t see the image in Toy Box so I’ll try to brighten it…
Ok I can’t see it for some reason so I’m just going to cheat and go to Tumblr and Reddit…
I also heard that there is a secret Wally audio, but I’ll find it soon
Ok the first one I found has “/ringring” at the end of the link for the main website
The distortion in the beginning is actually kinda scaring me…
Wally sounds a bit angry…I’m scared…
I think he’s tweaking a bit…
Home…
I’m worried about Wally…Is he ok?
Next is “/revengemessagebeware” at the end of the link for the main website
THE DISTORTION SCARED ME WHAT THE
So we’re looking at the sky now…And it’s a live-action sky…
And the people talking are Julie and Frank…
Omg the video cuts to green plants…
The video then cuts to a bud? It kinda looks like a cactus lol
The video then cuts to another random plant again…
The video then cuts to a weird looking flower…
I don’t know what that flower is but it looks weird…
There’s distortion again at the end…
Next is “/innocenceconstancyaspell” at the end of the link for the main website
There’s distortion at the beginning again…
The people talking are Julie and Frank again…
So we’re looking at some flowers…
Now the video cuts to another plant…
Now the video cuts to that weird-looking flower again…
Now the video cuts to leaves from a tree…
Now the video cuts to a weird-looking bud…Is it from that same weird flower or a different one?
Now the video cuts to the sky again…
Julie stopped talking that even Frank is noticing it a bit…
Now it cuts to a green bush? Another plant?
Now it cuts to the weird-looking flower again…
There’s a shadow looming over the weird flower and there’s distortion again at the end…
Next is “/regardforgetfulnesssilence” at the end of the link for the main website
There’s distortion at the beginning as usual…
The person talking is only Julie this time…
So we’re looking at that weird flower again…
Now it cuts to sunlight shining through the leaves of a tree…
OMG JULIE PUPPET HAND REVEAL
Now we cut to the sky again…
Now we cut to plants covered by a shadow? I don’t know what to describe it…
Now we cut to the weird flower again…
Now we cut to plants showing a small mountain?
SHE NEVER EVEN MENTIONED EDDIE??? WHAT???
Julie and Frank lore??? She’s talking about how they met…
Now we cut to another plant…
Julie starts speaking in a normal voice…It’s not her usual happy tone…
Now we cut to flowers…
Now Julie is back to speaking in her usual happy tone…
Now we cut to that weird flower again…
OMG WALLY’S VOICE AT THE END OF THE VIDEO???
Next is “/temptationdreamshope” at the end of the link for the main website
There’s distortion at the beginning as usual…
Now we cut to sunlight shining through the trees…
There’s a voice but it sounds unfamiliar…It is not one of the neighbors or one of the side characters we met before…
We cut to the weird flower and hear Julie’s voice again…
We cut back to sunlight shining through the trees again and hear that unfamiliar voice again…
We cut back to the weird flower and hear Julie’s voice again…
We cut to some flowers…
We cut to another bunch of flowers…
So the play Julie and the others did was “Sweet Briar” which is from one of the storybooks earlier…
We cut to sunlight and heard that unfamiliar voice again…
Now we cut back to the same bunch of flowers and hear Julie’s voice again…
Now we cut to the sky again…
We cut to sunlight and heard that unfamiliar voice again…
Now we cut to plants covered by a shadow again and hear Julie’s voice again…
We cut to sunlight and heard that unfamiliar voice again…
Now we cut to plants showing a small mountain and hear Julie’s voice again…
We heard that unfamiliar voice again and cut to sunlight…
We cut back to the weird flower and hear Julie’s voice again…
We heard that unfamiliar voice and cut to sunlight…But the voice seems like it’s panicking…
We cut back to the weird flower and hear Julie’s voice again…Julie seems aware of the voice…
Julie’s voice sounds soft and defeated…Poor Julie…
We hear that unfamiliar voice for the last time and the video distorts until the end…
I feel like the voice is Julie’s voice actress, and Julie is hearing her in her head…
Next is “/tearsremembranceinstability” at the end of the link for the main website
There’s distortion at the beginning as usual…
We cut to the sky again…
It is Julie’s voice again…But she is with Frank this time…
Now we cut to some plants…
Now we cut to plants covered by a shadow again…
Now we cut to the weird flower again…
Now we hear the unfamiliar voice again…
I’m just going to call it Weird Voice lol
Now Weird Voice is apologizing and crying…
We cut to the sunlight shining through the trees again…
Now Weird Voice sounds distorted and crying and shouting…
Now we cut to plants showing a small mountain and hear Frank looking for Julie in the distance…
“Julie? Are you alright?” Awww Frank…
Now we cut to the weird flower and hear Julie’s voice again…
Now we hear Weird Voice shouting and crying as it slowly fades into the sunlight…
Now we cut back to the weird flower-OMG IT’S THE DOG TOY BUT IT’S 2D ANIMATED
OMG THE DOG TOY JUST LOOKED AT ME WTF
I feel bad for Frank…They notice that there is something wrong with their husband, and now their best friend, and even asked them if they’re ok…
I feel bad for Julie too…
Next is “/revengeinnocenceregardtemptationtears” at the end of the link for the main website
AND OH MY GOD IT’S A PICTURE OF FRANK
THEY LOOK SO SCARED AND WORRIED OMG
Ok as for the Toy Box in the secret website, someone on Reddit said it was a box, which was assumed to be packaging for the dog toy, and it says “GLE”
Also what was the deal with this dog toy???
I can’t believe I spent two days on this website lol
My hands are kinda tired from typing lol
Also let me know if I miss anything

I am so damn late but I finally got time to draw this. I hope you like the art (0v0)
Story: After Maria graduated high school with her boyfriend, they had Chelsie in which her boyfriend didn’t want so Maria became a single mother. Thankfully her parents were kind enough to help her babysit while she went to college, Maria knew she had to do her best in order to live a comfortable life so she worked and worked as much as she could, turning into an workaholic.
From there, she was able to get hired to work at Welcome home as a screenwriter which she suited her best as she loved writing, Maria tries to make a good first impression as she meets the famous and adored puppet, Wally. Of course it doesn’t end well since Wally has his own issues and distrust for humans, so she tries to avoid him and try to get along with her coworkers instead, Wally and Maria occasionally get on each other’s nerves as they argue and fight once (Max separated them).
Maria continues focusing on her job since it was her top priority, despite looking like a zombie and feeling exhausted, she pushes herself to try and finish her tasks, even writing on her laptop in bed late at night. Because of this her work sometimes has errors and in the toxic working environment she’s in, the director is obviously displeased as he throws the papers back at her to pick up on the floor.
One day however, when she finally decides to leave at an appropriate time like the rest of staff when work is over, she grabs her bag and walks out to pick her daughter up from daycare, but a drawing that Chelsie made for her slips out of her bag. Wally and Barnaby are the only ones to notice it, Barnaby encourages Wally to give the lost paper back to Maria as Wally purposely tries to pretend not to see the paper on the floor. Wally finally goes and picks the paper up to see a drawing used with crayons of the Welcome Home cast holding hands with Chelsie. This catches Wally’s attention since Maria never mentioned to anyone that she had a child which made his heart melt knowing there was a little fan, as he rushes to give the paper back to Maria, she already left so he waits until the next day.
The next day, Wally calls Maria during break time and gives the paper back to her, she feels very grateful for the kind act and Wally asks her a question to confirm if she did have a child due to drawing skills on the paper. They have a nice conversation for once, they actually get to learn a bit about each other, and after that they become good friends. Wally’s friends tease him about it so much, and Wally begins to feel troubled if he is actually developing a small crush on Maria considering he’s not good with romance at all, and wonders if a human and puppet relationship could even work.

Majestic hues of indigo and glowing blush pink decorated the horizon over Rutshire and luminous blooms of azaleas and tulips fluttered softly in the early morning Spring breeze. The Orchard, your stately home, Elizabethan and passed down through Daddy’s family for centuries, glowed mauve under the imposing sunrise. From the view of your turreted bedroom, you could faintly make out The Priory to your left, under heaving climbs of bluebells. But, most importantly, over the steep hills ahead of you, Penscombe Court stood, most extravagant and superbly grandiose. It wasn’t the building in particular that enthused you but rather the man who resided there — Rupert Campbell-Black. He had made something of a nuisance of himself recently, spending evenings in your main sitting room, emptying bottles of extortionately-priced whiskey and smoking your father’s best cigars. You had spent so many a drunken night with him that, more often than not nowadays, he was usually lay beside you in the morning, in his birthday suit and with the most tremendous hangover.
As the piercing ivory sunlight began to penetrate through the pearl-grey velveted curtains of the sitting room, you were soon frantic with panic, scurrying along The Orchard’s winding hallways in search of your car keys — your car, a candy red Porsche 911, bought as a 21st birthday gift by Daddy. But the sound of the front door being pushed open, followed by a strident bark from Barnaby, made you jump with terror. Who on Earth would just let themself in, you think to yourself. “Hello, Barney. I bought you a present, old chap. Enjoy.” A familiar voice boomed from the porch. Rupert, looking particularly suave in a sapphire blue suit, had handed Barnaby quite possibly the biggest pork bone one had ever seen. With two impressive ropes of saliva stringing from the corners of his mouth, Barnaby — your gargantuan St. Bernard, sloped off into the kitchen.
It was well established that Rupert loved dogs, but the way in which he treated your gentle giant was enough to turn the coldest heart pure. “Hello, darling. How are we today?” Rupert questioned, instinctively following Barney and pouring himself a glass of Perrier from the cooler. “Good. Can’t find my car keys.” You huff, gliding past him and rooting through the fruit bowl. His libidinous gaze followed you — my Goodness, she looks delicious, he thought. Your golden hair fell in perfectly preened waves down your olive-skinned back, with a leopard print mini dress hugging tightly at your shapely figure, red lace delicately lining the neckline and bottom hem. Both your fingernails and your toenails were painted a deep claret — Rupert’s favourite.
Making himself at home, Rupert sat at the breakfast bar, perched with crossed legs on a tall stool and flicking through The Scorpion. Emblazoned across the front page was a sorrowful image of the Cotchester Dogs Home, they’re being forced to close their doors due to their funding being cut, and it would take an absolute miracle to keep their doors open. Taking a quick glance at it, you mewl forlornly and stop in your tracks. “How hopelessly sad! What about the poor doggies? Where will they go? How can they cut funding for such an important thing?” Tears brimmed in your eyes as you moaned. Sensing your sadness, Barnaby hauled himself up and circled your feet, prompting you to scratch the perfect spot behind his ears through melancholy sniffles.
Sorrow tore through Rupert’s gut like a knife— he couldn’t bear to see you in such a state. To see your eyes filled with tears was close to death, for him. “It’s okay, angel. They’ll work something out.” He groaned, standing from his stool and wrapping a protective arm around you. If only he could protect you from every worldly atrocity, at least then he could relax. “But they won’t! And all the poor doggies will be separated, or-or even left on the street. Oh, I can’t bare it.” You sobbed, throwing yourself into Rupert’s muscular body and only feeling slightly comforted by him raking a soft hand through your golden tresses. After adequately settling you, Rupert knocked back the rest of his Perrier like a shot and began to exit the room, only hesitating to say, “I have to nip out, sweetheart. I’ll call you later.”
-
It was nearing two pm when you heard from Rupert again. Studying your reflection in your hallway mirror, you yelp in delight as the receiver rang beside you. Almost tearing it from the wall to answer it, you hold the phone by your ear and feel your heart melt as your lover’s voice vibrated into your ear. “Hello, princess. I’m terribly sorry about my disappearance earlier.” Twirling a lock of hair around your finger as you speak, “It’s okay. I’m sorry for my outburst. I just can’t believe the injustice.”, you respond. There’s a pause for a moment, and you can hear Rupert shushing something in the background. “If you’re free, come up to me. I have something for you.”
Planting a gentle kiss on Barnaby’s fluffy temple, you finally locate your keys under his colossal leg, and saunter to your Porsche. The drive to Penscombe Court takes approximately forty-seven seconds from The Orchard, and your black kitten heels tremble unsteadily on the gravel driveway. Pushing open the door, you are greeted by a tumultuous cacophony of barking, and Rupert strolling towards you, a rather smug grin tugging at his lips. “Are you ready for your surprise?” He asked, covering your glinting eyes with his palms and walking you towards the garden.
Removing his palms, he revealed a large conglomeration of endearing dogs — whippets, beagles, cocker spaniels & deerhounds. All panting and wagging their tales contentedly. “These, princess, are the twelve former residents of Cotchester Dogs Home. Now residents of Penscombe Court.” The intoxicating man announced, waving his hands in glee. Collapsing in a fit of joyful tears, you throw your arms around Rupert and weep into his shoulder, before subsequently kneeling onto the grass and receiving a barrage of licks from the group of hounds. “So many beautiful pups! And so many friends for Barnaby! Rupert Campbell-Black, you are the best man.” You exclaim. If only that were true, he thought to himself, but it secretly overjoyed him that you were quite possibly the only person that thought so.
-
As the evening drew to a close, the pair of you retired to Rupert’s sitting room. The fire crackled gloriously in the corner, and a herd of tranquil dogs slept soundlessly beside it. Sat upright on the squashy, sepia leather sofa, Rupert delicately traced patterns into your scalp. “You have done a marvellous thing today, Rupert.” You peep drowsily. “I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t all for you, princess. I can’t bare to see you upset.” He responded, hunching temporarily to kiss your forehead in luscious gentleness. “Nobody’s been this frightfully nice to me since father. All I’ve ever wanted is to be looked after.” You confide, and nuzzle your face deeper into his lap. “Angel, I will make it my life’s work to protect you.” Rupert responds, watching you as you rise from the sofa and sigh.
Slipping on your shoes, you pad to the front door, not needing to look back, knowing this lovesick man will follow you. “I’ll go and collect Barnaby, and we shall stay here tonight. I don’t think I can face a night without you,” You mumble, locking hands with him and shooting him those huge, innocent eyes. Rupert felt his stomach stir in desire. “I don’t mean to scare you, but I feel as though I’m falling for you.” But you needn’t have confessed. For the way Rupert’s cerulean eyes beamed with awe as he looked at you said it all. “Fall away, angel. I’m here to catch you.” He winks as he speaks, and opens the door for you, blowing you a kiss as you trudge to your car.
Knowing you’d be back in a matter of minutes, Rupert sauntered to the kitchen and flicked on the kettle. Never in his life had he felt this wave of endearment, this sense of responsibility, towards someone. But he was sure, more than he had ever been about anything before, that he wouldn’t let you down.
“I sleep so I can see you, cause I hate to wait so long.” - Sailor Song, Gigi Perez.

Some Finn hcs since he's my fav :DD
- He's autistic to me as a self-diagnosed AuHDH person. I mostly get that from his interactions with some of his interactions where he doesn't get social cues (Tisha, Glisten and Vee, Connie too). he's very, VERY big on marine biology (it's his whole shtick) and it's mostly likely his special interest. His walking/running animation gives me the impression of dino hands. Plus his second interaction with Teagan indicates to me that he has sensory issues (taste being the most prominent one), as he only drinks water. He stims by wagging his fish tail and running his hands across the edges of his fins (omg prismatic pal hi)
- He and Gigi are cousins, I get that cousin vibe from them since I have a ton of cousins so yeah
- He's trans (FTM) and pansexual. I'm pansexual and Finn is my favorite so yeah, plus I kinda get the vibe that he's pan (same with him being trans, I'm not trans myself but I get that vibe from him)
- He likes playing cards with Gigi and Shrimpo, actually Finn and Gigi are the only toons Shrimpo has a good/decent relationship with/doesn't hate (Relating to my hc abt Finn and Gigi being cousins, Finn and Shrimpo are best friends so he tolerates Gigi due to her relation to Finn)
- He's Scottish and my voice hc for him is Shellington from Octonauts (it's the marine biology autism chat)
- He and Shelly are close friends, they like to listen to each other's infodumps on their special interests
- If he was forced to pick his top 5 favorite sea creatures those would be the clownfish, the sperm whale, the leopard seal, the stoplight loosejaw and the lemon shark
- His favorite food (which is also one of his safe foods) is pasta carbonara.
- Barnaby Wilikers Is like a son to him
- When Gardenview was still in business he did this little gimmick of keeping the guests guessing on how he got his missing tooth. Sometimes he would say he got in from a fight with a dolphin, other times he would say a swordfish poked it out. But in reality he was just created with it
guhh oh my god I love these they're so creative man.. I like the idea of him messing with guests about his tooth

Wally is aromantic and he wants to be affectionate with Frank but he's very anxious of accidentally giving the impression he's romantically interested in Frank. He eventually is able to verbalize what he wants. And Frank was pretty understanding. Although he also felt like he had to ask Barnaby if it was okay to cuddle Frank. Barnaby assured him that he doesn't need his permission to be affectionate with other men. Wally is concerned that Barnaby and Barnaby retorts that he gets jealous over dumb shit and Wally shouldn't have to worry about it because that's his own problem.

Frank started out small and just let him lean against them and hold their hand. Wally was told not to worry about it, but he made sure to cuddle Barnaby that night so he wouldn't feel left out lol.

Ears and Antennas
Chapter 1: Hotdogs.
As soon as Barnaby walked in Howdy could tell something was wrong.
Barnaby was holding Wally similarly to how one would hold a toddler, propped up on his left arm with his right hand on Wally’s back.
Wally was just talking about something that had happened when Julie tried to teach him how to bake a sugar cookie, and he mentioned something about fire?
Barnaby was nodding along, his ears slightly down as his tail hung limp behind him. Never a good sign; Howdy picked up on Barnaby’s body language pretty fast. Howdy’s antennas went down slightly at how well Barnaby could hide the fact he was upset; other than his tail and ears, nobody would suspect a thing. He was smiling and chuckling at Wally’s little confused recollections of his date with Julie. Had Howdy ever missed these signs before?
“Howdy-do fellas! What can I do for ya?”
Howdy’s chipper voice did not betray him as Barnaby sat Wally down on a stool, patting his pompadour before turning to Howdy and smiling, but it didn’t quite meet his eyes.
“Howdy, Howdy!” Barnaby said, his voice peppy and warm.
“Hello, Howdy. We came for hotdogs.” Wally said, his monotone voice raising slightly, Howdy learned that meant he was excited, impressed or really happy.
”Two o’ the usuals, comin’ right up!”
Howdy began to work as Wally continued to talk behind him, catching bits and pieces of the catastrophic cookie date. Fire, burnt finger, had to light candles, Home didn’t like the smoke and started coughing, had to leave the doors and windows on Home’s sides open to air it all out…
Then Barnaby spoke up.
”Heh, wow little buddy. You three alright now?”
“Yes, Home is not coughing anymore, Julie’s finger healed, and we are going to bake again this weekend!”
Howdy turned his head, his antennas curved similar to a question mark, and met Barnaby’s eyes.
Barnaby and Howdy looked at each other, their faces saying this:
B: You hear that?
H: I’ll have extra first aid in stock. They’re gonna need it.
They looked at Wally before Barnaby spoke up again. “Well shrimp, you better be careful.” Barnaby smiles at Wally, patting his head while Wally happily accepted the contact.
Howdy noticed Barnaby rested his right hand on the countertop, so he handed both of the boys their hotdogs before he rested his hand on top of his boyfriend’s hand while talking to Wally.
Barnaby locked their fingers together.
Thirty minutes later, the hotdogs were gone and Wally and Barnaby said their goodbyes, Barnaby helping Wally to the floor as Wally walked towards the door.
“See ya later, Howdy!”
Barnaby turned as Wally stood in front of the door, walking towards him with his hands in his coat pockets. He opened the door for Wally, and as soon as the bell rang, Howdy spoke up.
”Hey Barn, you mind staying for a minute?”
Barnaby looked at Howdy, a perplexed expression written across his face before he smiled at him, turned to Wally and whispered something in his ear Howdy did not catch. Wally walked out, waving goodbye and heading to home. Barnaby walked up to the countertop and rested his hands on top of it, raising an eyebrow and asking, “What’s got a fella like you callin’ a pooch like me back in for business?” Before smirking at Howdy playfully.
Howdy placed a hand on the hound’s cheek before pecking him on the bridge of his nose, leaning back and placing every hand on his hips.
”You wanna come over to mine tonight? I got a new movie in and figured we could get a sneak peek before I put it on the shelves.”
Barnaby’s ears perked in curiosity before his tail began to sway, slowly, yes, but it was progress.
”Well I can’t pass up that offer! I’ll see you at closin’ time, it’s a date!” Barnaby says, his smile finally reaching his eyes as he waved goodbye and walked out the door with a soft chime from the bell above.
Howdy sighed as he looked around the empty bodega.
”What’s got that poor guy lookin’ like a kicked puppy?”
Chapter 2: I see you.
The day had come to a close, and now our lovely pair were lying on the couch, Howdy in sweatpants and a white tee, and Barnaby simply in a white tee. Barnaby has his head resting on Howdy’s chest, nose up against his boyfriend’s chin, feeling embarrassed about how obvious it was he was sad. His tail was resting still, his ears limp by the sides of his head.
Howdy was propped up on a throw pillow and had all four of his arms wrapped around Barnaby, as well as his front legs. Barnaby was lying on top of Howdy as the caterpillar rested his bottom arms on Barnaby’s lower back while his top left arm rested on the dog’s waist, using his right hand to stroke the dog’s extra poofy hair on the top of his head. Barnaby had his legs limp in between Howdy’s back ones, and his arms wrapped around Howdy’s waist. Howdy’s antennas were turned down slightly in concern.
”You don’t gotta, but if you wanna talk ‘bout it Barn, I’m here, alright?” Howdy murmurs, kissing his boyfriend’s forehead gently and placing his hand on the back of the hound’s neck.
Barnaby exhaled through his nose, finally meeting Howdy’s gaze with something in his eyes Howdy had never seen before. His eyes were shining, holding onto a burden that held the poor pooch down greatly. Barnaby’s ears lower, and he breaks eye contact again, choosing to stare at Howdy’s chest fur that was prominent even through his shirt. Funny, it made for a great pillow.
”What do you see in me?”
Howdy flinched, his antennas shooting up in shock, stiffer than a board. His eyes grew wide as he looked at his boyfriend, who looked so beaten down, so worn out, it made him want to cry. His antennas go down, pressed against his head as he held onto Barnaby tighter.
“What do I- Barn what are you goin’ on about?”
Howdy placed his right hand on the dog’s left cheek, rubbing his thumb back and forth gently.
”It’s dumb, forget about it.”
Barnaby spoke so quietly Howdy would have thought he misheard him if they were not so close. “Barn, this clearly has you all blue, what’s goin’ on?” Howdy deadpans, furrowing his brows slightly.
”Frank just got real mad at me earlier for steppin’ on his flowerbed and said somethin’ ‘bout me ‘n I…” Barnaby trails off for a second before he utters, “I just feel more ‘n more like he’s prolly right.”
Howdy sighs, moving his hand and petting Barnaby again.
”What’d he say, hon?” Howdy questions.
”He said I’m nothin’ but a giant buffoon who can’t do anythin’ right ‘cept mess things up, ‘n he doesn’t understand what you could possibly see in a guy like me.”
Howdy raises his eyebrows in shock, his antennas following. He moves his right hand and places it on the soft fur of Barnaby’s cheek, softly urging him to raise his head to meet his eyes, which he did. Oh those brown eyes, filled with everything he felt in his sweet soul; despair, sorrow, inferiority, isolation.
“My dearest,” Howdy begins, his voice light despite the weight of his love’s words on his heart, “I see you, I have seen and heard everything you have to offer, from jokes to compliments to simple conversations. I have heard your heavenly laugh and had the honor of being the one that made it appear. I have held you in every arm I have, and yet that is still not enough to show how much I care for you. I see the way your tail begins to sway at Wally’s jokes in pride, knowing you taught him it and it is because of you he can do it. I have seen the way your eyes light up when you see a friend. I see you, and that is all that I care about.”
Not a word had come from Barnaby since he had admitted what Frank had said, not a sound from the blue hound at all.
Until he sniffled.
His vision was blurry, his breathing became heavier as he stared at Howdy, touched at his kind words in ways he could not express. He leaned into Howdy’s hand, placing his left paw on top of it, his eyes closing, the tears finally falling from his eyes after so long of never being allowed to. He wrapped both of his arms around Howdy’s waist once more, placing his face into Howdy’s chest, shaking as he restrained his tears, no matter how much it hurt.
He felt another hand rest on his waist, Howdy’s soft touch around him becoming stronger, closer, more secure as he pulled him in, every arm cradling his body as if saying I’m here, I’m never letting you go, you’re okay, I love you.
Barnaby felt Howdy’s lips press against the top of his head, before he heard him speak, his lips still against his head.
“Let it out.”
Howdy’s soft voice and touch felt so safe in that moment, so tender and sweet.
Barnaby forgot what it felt like to let go. Let go of every single tear, let go of every last burden that weighed him down, let go of every last pain that left him feeling like nothing more than a comedic relief, a joke, a jester. Let go of every single cry, every last feeling of humiliation, of shame, of isolation, of frustration, of despair. He felt the tears he had blocked for so long run down his cheeks, the cold water stinging his eyes. He sobbed, his ears and tail pressed down as his whole body trembled as each emotional and mental weight lifted off of his being, replaced by saltwater pouring down his cheeks, soaking his fur and his spouse’s shirt.
His heart felt lighter with each tear he shed.
Chapter 3: Drink.
Barnaby could hardly speak now. His throat felt raw and sore. So very sore. Howdy had his right hand mindlessly stroking Barnaby’s head, a steady rhythm that still calmed Barnaby even after every single pain in the world had been released through those fiery, salty streams that had left from his eyes.
All the dog could do was leave his head in Howdy’s chest, his arms loosely wrapped around the shopkeeper’s waist, his hands on the other man’s upper back, inbetween him and the pillow he was still propped on.
“Do you want me to get you anything?”
Barnaby shakes his head no.
“Some water might make you feel better.”
Barnaby says something, muffled by his boyfriend’s shirt.
“What was that, Barn?”
Barnaby lifted his head and looked at Howdy, a pair of reddened, swollen brown eyes that could put the leaves of Autumn to shame, meeting kind, empathetic, and very soft charcoal-like eyes. Barnaby’s lips curled upwards, a pleasant switch from the deep frown that had previously claimed his face as home.
“I don’t need water to make me feel better, Howds. You did that yourself.” Barnaby then placed his head back where it was, his raspy voice clearly giving away he needed water.
Howdy’s antennas curled into a question mark form, his eyebrow raising as his head turned quizzically.
Standing up and holding the now very confused looking dog with his lower pair of arms, Howdy walked over to his kitchen and began searching for a cup, his top hands searching through the cabinets for something, anything with a handle.
“AHA!”
Howdy swiftly pulled something out of the cabinet and walked over to the sink, rinsing the mug out and drying it off with a nearby towel, still holding his lover like one would a toddler with his bottom arms, the left one rested on the back of his thighs and his right one flat on the middle of the blue man’s back. He left the mug to rest on the countertop, walking over to the freezer and checking if he still had ice. Satisfied, the caterpillar grabbed the mug and scooped up some ice, filling it about a third of the way before he poured some water from a large glass pitcher into the pure white coffee mug.
Howdy turned and moved the mug to be in front of Barnaby, urging the canine to take it from his hands. He smiled as the dog grabbed the handle and slowly took a sip of the cold drink, noting how he saw the dog’s tail relax from its originally pressed down position. Howdy placed the pitcher back into the fridge, closing it gently to not startle Barnaby while he drinks. Howdy walked back to the couch, sitting down with his front legs inbetween his back legs as he placed Barnaby on his left legs to prevent the dog from choking as he sipped his much-needed water.
Chapter 4: Thinking about him.
It had been about an hour, and Howdy was now lying on the couch, both of his right arms hanging off of the plush cushions as his left arms rested on his stomach, his upper back and head resting on the throw pillow once again, patiently waiting for Barnaby to come back into the room.
Howdy had repeatedly refilled his water to make sure his throat no longer hurt, and to make sure he hydrated after all those tears that he shed. Of course, all that water didn’t just stay in Barnaby’s system, and it sure didn’t stay for long. About 50 minutes or so and 10 cups of water later, Barnaby placed his cup down and bolted for the bathroom.
Apparently 10 cups of water is the limit!
Howdy closes his eyes and exhales, his body relaxing as he thinks deeply about before. Barnaby was never one to cry, he realized. He’d never seen the guy be very clearly distressed, let alone have tears pouring down his beautiful blue cheeks, his gorgeous brown eyes tinted, lines of red twisting along their edges, glassy as the remains of the tears long shed coated them. He’d never heard such pain in his voice before. Agony probably suited it best; he could feel how badly it affected his boyfriend just by holding him as his body shook with his cries.
All Howdy felt was shame.
How could he have been so blind? He never noticed! Yes, he saw that his dear was upset, but he was not expecting this!!! How long had the poor man been so held down? Burdened with the weight of expectations and embarrassment on his shoulders, how long had he held this in?
Howdy’s antennas went down slightly.
“How long has he been hurtin’?”
He got no response, the silence of the room deafening him, taunting him with everything left unsaid and undone, the darkness of the living room, broken only by the glow of the television, leaving him feeling quite alone.
Suddenly, he heard footsteps approaching the couch before he saw Barnaby’s outline beside it, watching the shadow stretch a little bit before the dog turned his head and smiled.
Even in the dark, Howdy could tell that it reached his eyes this time.
Chapter 5: Mwah.
Howdy had every limb besides his back legs wrapped around Barnaby, his upper right hand holding the back of his neck loosely. Howdy was holding him with so much love, even though he barely squeezed him, the dog thought his heart (and body) might explode.
They had just been there, enjoying each other’s presence in the soft glow of the television screen, the warmth of the other providing a sense of safety.
*Mwah*
Barnaby’s ears perk up.
*Mwah mwah mwah*
“AHH, PFF- HOWDY STAHAHAHP-“
The caterpillar continued to pepper kisses all over Barnaby’s cheeks, his nose, and his forehead, laughing along with the flustered dog.
”Well, if you say so!”
Howdy instead began to litter kisses everywhere except Barnaby’s face; the top of his head, his hands, his arms, his neck, his collarbone. Howdy couldn’t help himself, grinning like a buffoon, listening to his partner’s laughs echoed through the room, the way his tail was wagging so fast it appeared to be a blur. Howdy sits up, still wrapped around Barnaby as he continued his barrage of kisses, his antennas heart shaped and his partner happy.
What he was not expecting was his partner to give him a kiss on the lips, leaving him stunned for a moment as his antennas stiffened and straightened.
Oh no.
”WAIT WAITWAITWAIT BARN—“
*MWAH*
Barnaby did not hold back, leaving kisses everywhere that he knew would make Howdy laugh or squeal; His cheeks, his lips, in between his eyebrows, his neck, his forehead, and his nose.
The caterpillar squirmed, his laughter merging with his partner’s, his face growing warmer with each smooch from his favorite pooch.
Chapter 6: Soft spot.
Both of the boys were now sitting upright, bodies intertwined and goofy smiles across their faces.
Barnaby had chosen to rest his head on Howdy’s top left shoulder, snout in his neck with his tail wagging behind him as he kept his arms around the green man’s waist, other than that, they were simply in the same position they were in for the majority of the evening.
Howdy turns his head to look at the blue beauty resting on his shoulder, his body wrapped around the figure of the hound.
“He looks so peaceful now.”
Howdy’s smile softens, his heart swelling with affection for his dearest companion.
He lifts his hand and rubs Barnaby’s ear, thumb tracing circular motions, a repeated, kind rhythm of love. Howdy notices Barnaby’s smile grow wider, a soft, content sigh escaping the nose of the beautiful canine.
”That cute little smile of his is gonna melt my heart one of these days.”
Howdy moves his hand and scratches behind Barnaby’s ear.
*Thumpthumpthumpthump*
Barnaby freezes, his leg bouncing as his spouse is continuing to be evil by not even acknowledging the soft noise from Barnaby’s movement.
Unbeknownst to our favorite “little” guy, Howdy’s antennas were straight up in surprise, his eyebrow raised in curiosity as a smirk found its way onto his emerald lips.
”Barn??”
”Hm?”
”Barn is that you?”
”I do not know what you mean.”
”Barn is that your leg?”
“I have no clue as to what you are referring to, Mr. Pillar.”
Howdy snickers as he lifts Barnaby’s head, using his right hand placed under Barnaby’s chin, meeting the dog’s deep, bronze eyes. His antennas curl into a heart once more.
“You’re adorable.”
With a sinister little giggle, Howdy moves his left hand to the pup’s other ear, releasing Barnaby’s chin before he scratches behind Barnaby’s ear again, only this time, Barnaby’s leg bounced faster, much to the dog’s dismay.
*Thumpthumpthumpthumpthumpthump*
Barnaby’s eyes looked up to Howdy’s antennas and he decides he’s going to fight fire with fire.
The scratching came to a halt as Barnaby’s thumb began rubbing Howdy’s left (or Barnaby’s right) antenna, which Barnaby soon noticed was because the poor caterpillar appeared stunned.
Flustered and frozen.
Suddenly, the canine feels a soft vibration, and with a look at his partner, who is covering his face with his top hands, his ears perk up that the realization that he might not be the only one with a weak point.
Chapter 7: Good morning.
Howdy sipped his steaming coffee, the bitter, smooth liquid flowing down his throat, providing the man with a small amount of caffeine and a pleasant start to his day; just enough to help him open his eyes more than halfway.
The night before had been hard on both the tall, muscular man and the humorous, soft man; they both lost sleep that night, not that either of them were aware the other one was also going through a small sleep-loss issue.
Howdy walks over into the living room, still holding his close to boiling temperature coffee, and stood right beside the couch, his mind wandering to the events that had happened on those cushions; the tears and heartache shed and shared.
His shoulders relax as a small exhale comes from his mouth.
”He’s doin’ better now.”
The caterpillar sat on the couch, placing his coffee down onto a coaster that had been resting on the table. He runs his hand through his hair, a soft shade of green threaded through deep, nightlike blue. His hand stops as his fingers reach his antennas, a memory flashing through his mind.
”BAHAHA BARN STAHAHAH- BARN!!!”
”I’m payin’ ya back~!”
A grin works its way onto Howdy’s face, a chuckle escaping his lips as he recalled his partner’s very very effective attempt at preventing Howdy from messing with him in the moment.
That did not last long, he did it again later that night.
*YAWNNNNNNN*
”Mornin’…”
Well, look who finally woke up at the nice time of…
Howdy glances over at the clock.
4:30.
4:30 AM.
On a Saturday.
Both of them were awake at the worst possible time.
“Good mornin’ sleepyhead!”
Barnaby felt four strong arms wrap around his body, his eyes opening just enough to see his happy, tall, and tired boyfriend.
His eyes held the same smile that rested on his fluffy, spotted face.

So this is something that’s been knowing at my head so I’m just gonna drop it off here. Does anyone remember in the early rise of “Welcome Home”, a lot of fans portray Wally as a Yandere character? I know a lot of people don’t think that now (probably, idk) but I started to think of what it would be like if the other characters were Yandere’s!
Down below are what the other members of Welcome home would be like if they were a Yandere towards Wally, mainly because he’s suppose to be the main character in the show where it’s from. I’m also not including home on this list because I like to consider them Wally’s ally if the other neighbors were after him in a Yandere manner. No this is just my personal headcannon if they were Yander or had Yandere feelings towards Wally, I know they aren’t actually like this in the world of Welcome home but I had fun writing this so be my guest. I might write a few dabbles about them in the future if I feel like it. Enjoy @:)
Barnaby: (Clingy/Possessive) Barnaby would be very dependent on Wally emotionally without showing it, hiding his true feelings behind his comedic behavior. If anyone would spend too much time with his best friend, he’ll make sure they wouldn’t be around to take his place as Wally’s best friend. He wants to be the one his little buddy goes to for anything, from the smelling things like asking a question to something urgent. He views Wally as his number one best friend and will do anything to keep him as such. No one can be his best friend but him.
Eddie: (Obsessive/Overprotective) Eddie would one hundred percent be protective of Wally, regardless of the situation. He could spend the day by his side if he could, so he chooses to watch him from afar. Always eyeing Wally whenever he’s out delivering mail, making sure nothing bad would happen to him. Sometimes he’d invite Wally to hang out at his post office, something to make paper mâché rings or other silly crafts, anything to keep Wally as close to him as possible. All he wants is to be close with the neighborhood darling.
Frank: (Delusional) Frank doesn’t know many social cues, but still knows more than Wally. So whenever Wally would do something friendly or simply nice for Frank as a friend, Frank would take it as signs that Wally likes him more than friends. Acts such as drawing bugs and giving them to Frank as gifts, listening to him rant about bug facts, or even just giving him a simple compliment, Frank would take it as Wally being flirty and affectionate towards him. This would lead to Frank developing his own feelings for Wally, keeping every gift Wally would give to him, and often fantasizing about Wally in unhealthy ways.
Howdy: (Delusional/Manipulative) Howdy would lie, sell, cheat, anything just to be in the same room with Wally. Wally has been learning how to tell jokes from Barnaby, testing out his new skills with howdy at his place. With Wally’s friendly behavior and by spending so much time at Howdy's shop, Howdy is under the impression that he must feel some type of way towards him. Otherwise, why else would he spend so much time at his shop? Whenever he isn’t at Howdy's shop or isn’t spending time with him, he’d do anything to lure Wally back into his shop. He’d have some kind of sale or new product that Wally would be interested in and want to go back into his shop, whatever he can to convince Wally to stay longer.
Julie: (Compulsive/Obsessive) I was considering her as more of a clingy type, but I think she’s more likely to act on her compulsive urges. Julie would act on the first thing she thinks or feels when she sees Wally, whether it be pulling him into a tight hug or somehow dragging him straight to her house. Whenever he’s around, all Julie can think about is him. His laugh, his smile, his sweet reassuring words, even his lovely drawings he made as gifts for her won her heart.
Poppy: (Clingy/Overprotective) Poppy, Similar to Barnaby, would be emotionally dependent on Wally but only to an extent. She’d likely go to him for either reassurance or reassure him/make sure he’s okay. With Poppy being an expert in the kitchen, she always makes extra food and she always saves some for Wally to either eat with her or save it for later, as long as Wally gets to taste her cooking. She especially enjoys it when Wally comes over to help with her crochet, even gifting him with a pair of mittens or sweater as her way of showing gratitude other than food. He has an entire closet of well knitted sweaters made by her. She likes to make sure Wally is taken care of, whether it be that he’s properly dressed, fed, protected, no matter the cost.
Sally: (Self-indulgent/Delusional) The brightest star in the neighborhood, who only wants the eyes of the neighborhood darling on her. She adores the attention he gives her, from showing up to her plays to even being a part of them, from playing a character to helping make the props. She loves having him around, even when they aren’t doing anything she can’t get enough of his presence, his smile, his kindness. He doesn’t have to hang out with her outside of helping her with her plays here and there, but he chooses to anyway. Why else would he willingly choose to be around her, this mindset gave Sally the impression that he has some type of feeling for her like how she does for him.

Late night thoughts
They are Starpillar thoughts
I picture Sally finally admitting to herself that she actually really likes Howdy. And when that does happen her whole demeanor changes. She gets very unsure about herself for a while and she even finds herself not being able to write a play without making it indirectly about Him.
Every single time she goes into his store she gets nervous and struggles to talk to him more and more each day. Up to the point howdy notices. But instead of thinking that Sally is head over heels for him, he thinks that Sally doesn't like him anymore. Then he gets very worried because A) Sally doesn't like him anymore. B) he upset her somehow. And C) he's potentially losing one of his customers! And one of his favorite ones too!
So Howdy does everything he can to impress her or Wow her or even get her to look in his eyes again. He even gives her the good quality items for 99% off. (The 1% she has to pay is just a smile) But she's still not her normal, out going, eccentric, self!
Howdy then confines in barnaby and tells him everything he has experience going on with Sally. Barnaby (already been told by howdy that he's in love with Sally) kinda already knew what was going on with Sally but he decided to mess around a bit and play a joke on him.
Barnaby: you know what, How'd? I think she down right hates you!
Howdy: you do?!?
Barnaby: oh yeah! She don't like you nomore.
Howdy: no... Oh no! It can't be! Oh what do I do, Barn? How do I fix this?
Barnaby: well... Since she hates you and all I think that you should just tell her ya think that she's a real hoot and a holler!
Howdy: what are ya blabbering on about?
Barnaby: I mean you should tell her you fancy her, How'd! She already hates ya, can't hate ya anymore than that!
Howdy: How on earth is that supposed to fix this!?
Barnaby: Hey! Do you want to take the secret of your love for her to the grave? I don't think so. It's better to let it all out. to... You know, get it off your chest. Like I said, she can't hate you anymore than she already does.
Howdy:...😑
Barnaby:...😏
Howdy: That is the most stupid thing I have ever heard! *Throws his hat on the counter and walks over and out from behind the counter and starts heading towards the front door*
Barnaby: Uh, where are ya going, Howdy!?
Howdy: To tell Sally how I feel! Where do you think I'm going?! Watch the shop for me, Will ya?! *Slams the shop door*
Barnaby: ...Maybe Julie's right, maybe I should have started with the punchline.
I might update this thought later

My Wally x Barnaby/Applebite headcanons.
Wally writes love poems to Barnaby ( I had a dream that it was canon so now I hedcanon it I was super sad when I woke up and realized it wasn't real,) (also it was like one of my only WH dreams where Wally wasn't depressed, for some reason Wally is depressed in most of my dreams about him)
Barnaby carries Wally around sometimes and Wally is just happy to be there
Barnaby's tail wags whenever he thinks about Wally
Wally can purr and he often purrs around Barnaby (Barnaby was the one that discovered that Wally can purr)
Wally sometimes acts like a cat and knocks things off counters and Barnaby has to keep a close eye on him, so he doesn't knock fragile things off. Wally also climbs trees and then can’t get off, just like a real cat
Human Wally (puppet Wally too) is vegetarian, so Barnaby always finds vegetarian version of recipes (Wallys favorite recipe is apple curry ofc)
Wally talks in his sleep (this is inspired by the "I am sleeping ") and sometimes it wakes Barnaby
Barnaby laughs at Wally's sleep talk because he says nonsense things Wally has insomnia and has to take pills (I think it's semi canon?), Barnaby always tries to make sure that Wally has taken them
They love to match
Wally copies Barnaby's behavior
Wally calls Barnaby "The apple of his eyes"
Wally could talk about Barnaby for hours
Wally loves horrors (canon), and he often convinces Barnaby to watch them with him. Barnaby ends up super terrified and with nightmares
Wally is incredibly good at learning languages, and it always impresses Barnaby
Wally has depression and he really struggles with it, he doesn't have good coping mechanisms and Barnaby is the only one who knows that he always tries to help Wally with that (This one is inspired by my dreams too)

Hello! I’m relatively new to your page and I just love the layout! :}
If I could, may I request Howdy, Wally and Barnaby getting love letters from a secret admirer? They don’t know it’s from their s/o until s/o reveals that the letters are from them!
I’m not sure if you have a person limit on your writing requests but if you need to shorten it, that’s fine! Thank you! ✨🙏🏻
Yes that's such a cute idea, you got it!Unspecified gender, Reader will be written as They/Them! (I'm so sorry for not writing for so long!!)
Howdy pillar x Reader !
Barnaby b beagle x Reader !
Wally darling x Reader !
Tumblr media
Howdy
♡• Howdy, Howdy was the type of nice guy that honestly wholeheartedly believed no one would really go for him respectfully. He was a busy caterpillar, tending to his shop. and keeping Wally away from the damn apples.
♡• Color him surprised when he finally finds the first envelope poetry written in a way that made his heart flutter. It was unusual for him, someone was admiring him? A busy guy on the job? However he couldn't contain his smile that broke out. He looked around, trying to find a clue on who it might be.
♡• Days went on, yet no matter how many letters he finds and gets—it will always make his heart flutter. On some days, those letters are something that kept him going.
♡• Imagime his utter surprise when he caught you in the act of slipping that very same scented envelope with a heart stamp onto his table. "..Neighbor?" Howdy softly called out. A soft smile on his face. Alas, he uncovered the secret, the machinations of the anonymous love letters have finally come to an end as things got considerably easier.
♡• His giddiness at that moment led him to ask you out. He prepared a thoughtful small speech to you about how these letters have made him weak in the knees. Goodness, he only thought such things happened in high school, not years later!
Barnaby
♡• Aye Caramba! Color him impressed by how well you've seem to written all those love letters. Every new letter seem to fluster him more and more, goodness have mercy on this poor Doggies heart.
♡• Barnaby would seem more confident than ever when remembering someone admired him, loved him in a way no one could replicate. Like any dog, he was a curious guy. He sniffed the scented perfume every time on the envelope the letters would be sent in or found in curious places.
♡• Every heartfelt letter made his blue taill wag. He kept every letter in a drawer close to his bed so he could read it at night when he didn't feel so good emotionally. Those letters were his source of comfort that somewhere, there was a person that admired him.
♡•However he soon noticed a sporadic yet obvious pattern the more he thought about it. The scent of the perfume. A smell friendly to Dog snouts like his, and not many wore perfume like that. Wait a minute..!
♡• Barnaby sniffed around the next day, as curious as a puppy in its first months of life. And when he finally sniffed at you, his tail wagged. He poinced on you. "It was you!" he was so unfathomably giddy that when you finally confirmed it was you, he couldn't help but ask you out on a date. Needless to say, you were his now.
Wally
♡• "...for me?" Wally tilted his head as he looked at the envelope, his mouth slightly open, his gaze deepening as he held the letter tight. He thought it was like any other mail, one he just forgot to open. His face was dusted by a nice color of blush.
♡• Wally was curious, so curious. He always wondered where these letters went. The feel, the smell, the looks he couldn't quite pin where he saw that similiar hand writing. Sometimes, he'd spend our re-reading all those letters that piled up. It was like a reminder that there was truly someone out there who looked at him and decided to dedicate their heart to him. It made him breathe hard at the thought.
♡• the little puppet would sometimes ask home if he knew something. To his surprise, home kept silent for once. As if it was obvious on who brought these in. His curiosity couldn't be contained as he asked Eddie if he knew where the letters came from as he was the mailman.
♡• However, Eddie only gave a playful smile and shook his head. Leaving Wally once more to think it out. Maybe Julie knew, however, by pure coincidence—he caught you at her place. Making those letters and her helping you spritz the perfume in a way that wouldn't damage the paper.
♡• His mouth fell open as everybody froze. Normally, at such things, Wally would fall limb. But he didn't. Julie gave you both some space, and you finally confessed. He looked at you before finally initiating a hug. Wally wasn't good at hugs, but he sure as hell wanted to show he appreciated it. Things lead to one and another— and you guys eventually got together.

A bit more in depth descriptions of the neighbors in my Human AU
(The neighborhood the neighbors live in consists of other citizens as well, so when I refer to ‘the neighbors’ I mean the main characters - Wally, Sally, Julie, etc)
Wally: No one really knows where he necessarily came from, but it’s said he lived in the city his entire life. He seems to know the most about the other people in the city, and watched others join the neighborhood with a curious smile. Like in canon, he is friendly, curious, and a bit of an oddball, but he is that way simply because that’s who he is (Autism perhaps). He spends a lot of his time usually painting in his home, in a room which he basically converted into his studio. He likes to take requests from other neighbors and paint them out free of charge for them. If not painting, then he’s usually out with Barnaby or out strolling the streets of the city, humming and looking at the sky with a smile on his face. Many may not understand him but he’s full of love.
Barnaby: Barnaby was a foster kid who grew up with joke books and classic comedy DVDs, so he was raised with an eye for old fashioned antics. When he was 18, he moved from the countryside to do small gigs in neighboring towns, met with lots of positive reception (and some occasional sour critics). Business grew to where he decided to take his comedy to a much larger audience, so he moved to the city where he was able to get a job doing skits and such at Bark n Bites, the most popular comedy club in the city. There, he was greeted by Wally who had came once he had heard of a new neighbor, and the two instantly hit it off, becoming best friends. Now, Barnaby is known as the life of the party, always lively with his jokes (and is known to get a little immature with them sometimes, to Frank’s annoyance), but all he means is to put a smile on his and others faces! He’s also a fantastic dancer and is kickass at Just Dance (specifically Rasputin).
Julie: Julie was basically raised by her siblings, the four of them growing up in a trailer park and starting a band called the Rainbow Monsters, a hit in the small towns that they visited. However, energetic and optimistic Julie desired something bigger and better outside of her simple life, so she moved away and purchased a small RV which is essentially her home now, which she likes to call her “burrow.” She eventually brought her RV to the big city where she was greeted by Wally, and impressed by how friendly he was. Meeting him instantly told her there was a lot to this city, so she stayed for good, eventually meeting Frank one day when he was outside his home watering his plants. He immediately stood out to her because of his personality, intelligent yet grumpy, easily provoked yet not necessarily aggressive. She began to bother him around the neighborhood more, and while Frank would never say it, he did enjoy the company of someone who actually bothered to pay attention to him. She and Frank would soon go on to become best friends, and they hang around the city together, whenever Julie wants to see this building or go to that party or hang out with the other neighbors.
Frank: Frank always had a fascination for entomology, collecting butterflies since childhood and observing them from books. He moved to the city in order to find a good college to study his interest, and would eventually land a small job educating that interest. However, his life back at his home was somewhat lonely, feeling largely ignored until Julie came into his life and convinced him to be around the other neighbors more. He began to develop a new appreciation for life thanks to her and while their relationship isn’t romantic, Frank owes his life to her because she helped him learn how to smile more, and being able to smile more would eventually help him realize more things about himself, especially the complicated relationship he has with the local mailman.
Eddie: Eddie was from a nearby small town, raised by his mother who was the mail deliverer of the neighborhood. Eddie was often bullied by his peers and was taught to never think of himself as above others, rather as to treat them the way he wanted to be treated. Because of this, Eddie would grow into a very kind man, albeit with a struggle saying no to others. He would eventually move to the city, and open up a small post office where he would distribute mail throughout the neighborhood. While he did have to sometimes compete with other postal services, his was often better because Eddie always put others needs before his own, one time going as far as to stop everything he was doing because he needed to deliver a child’s birthday present on time. Julie and the other neighbors were impressed by his kind nature and strong stature, and Eddie never gave anyone a hard time about anything ever. However, his job often overwhelms him to the point where he never gets to spend as much time with the people he wants to, so he often resorts to watching them afar, especially that entomologist.
Howdy: Howdy was raised on the other side of the city by his family, always used to being in groups and desiring success. When he grew up, he decided to open up a bodega on the other side of the city to have a fresh change of pace and still be able to do what he loves. His little shop is often a hangout place for people like Barnaby and Wally, and Howdy’s the type of guy to bring you out some chairs and a snack so you can talk to him about current life events. Unfortunately, you do have to actually pay because this is a more realistic human au and if Howdy only charged in jokes his bodega would be gone in the next month, however, as he says, “a quip is a required tip!”
Poppy: Poppy lived in a small suburban neighborhood before moving to the city, not mainly because she wanted to, but because she couldn’t find much other places to live. She found an affordable home and stayed to herself for the first year or so until she began to see the other neighbors and learn how unique and interesting they were. However her agoraphobia kept getting the best of her, so she often stayed inside, until time with Sally gave her the idea to start using her baking skills to make treats for the neighborhood, being able to stay inside the comfort of her home and make things for others. Over time she grows a bit more brave with Sally’s help, even sometimes helping her create and decorate her plays.
Sally: Sally was a very popular girl in her hometown, a more wealthy neighborhood than most, but grew restless with her current status and wanted to find a place where she could truly let her acting and directing skills shine. So the city seemed like the perfect place! She moved in and immediately felt it was the right choice. She began to take acting classes and became a part of an entertainment committee that would host parties and events for the city, and now hosts big plays at the local theater! She always tries to get her fellow neighbors to join, especially Poppy, but it takes some convincing for some people. She loves to be the life of the party like Julie and throws amazing parties at her house.
