Can I just say that I'm really fucking proud of Lando this year?

McLaren bring in a much-hyped rookie teammate for him somewhat unexpectedly (given DR was initially supposed to still be with him through 2023) and it's not like an older driver playing mentor to the new young talent with less need to feel threatened because they've had their career already, Oscar is almost the same age as Lando and is touted as a future superstar and the media and McLaren and especially Zak are talking him up as much as they talk Lando up. As the season has gone on, Oscar has shown himself to be the talent everyone hoped he would be, and comments are being made by certain fans and in some of the media about how he could be a threat to Lando's status at the team etc etc.

it would have been really easy for Lando to get his hackles up and get defensive and not be as helpful or as good a teammate as he could be. Instead he has accepted the challenge head-on, admits Oscar's pushing him and is closer than he might like at times but he still talks Oscar up all the time (in a genuine way not trying to make himself look good) and says that having Oscar there is a positive for him as it makes him a better driver as well and how good it is for the team and how much he's enjoying having him there and how well they work together. He's taken his presence for all the positives it brings to him as well as the team and has opened his arms to his new teammate and helped him and shared every scrap of data with him to help get him up to speed (confirmed by both Oscar and Andrea Stella) and been so welcoming and generous that even cynical, brutally honest Mark Webber tells the press more than once that Lando is a really excellent teammate to Oscar. And he's built a genuine friendship with Oscar when so many other drivers would have seen this new uber-talented upstart as a threat to them and kept him at arms length.

Like, it says a lot about what a nice guy Oscar is as well, but this season has made a mockery of all the hateful comments about Lando being jealous or petty or a shitty teammate because he has proven without a doubt he is the exact opposite and I'm really fucking proud of him for that.

from everyone doubting Lando and his long contract basically all of last season, being explicitly asked about it at AD last year, and the borderline catastrophic start to the season and even MORE people questioning and mocking both Lando and Oscar for their choice to be with McLaren, also certain people calling it karma 😒

to having all the changes in the team, Andrea coming in and other key players being changed around in the factory causing a little uncertainty because we don't know how that'll work to them all working so damn hard on the R&D and working to bring these updates and now to see them working! and getting results! and even at a track we weren't expecting it to this level!

all the team in Woking and the team who travel to track and big shout outs since we've had some pretty damn quick pit stops the last couple of races too

I genuinely get a little emotional because this is my team, I've been here since 2010 and through the highs and lows and low-lows and now this seeming revival, even if it's just to be a top 3 team again is so fucking good to see and I'm proud of that team, and especially the drivers

Out of all the clubs he’s played for, I think we can all agree that his boyhood club, VfL Bochum, is his number 1 fan :) They’re so proud of him and everything he’s gone on to achieve. It’s clear they see him as a wonderful representative of the club and the city, and I, for one, couldn’t agree more 🥰 he represents them with honor and integrity.

When it comes time for Leon to retire, I’d love to see him retire at Bochum too. I don’t think I could fathom a happier ending to his career than that—than him finding his way back to the people and the club that raised him. I have a feeling that they’ll welcome him back with open arms ❤️

L-Pop on Disney + ep4-6 Recap/Review

So legitimately this is one of my favorite shows Disney+ Latin America has done. Did not see that on my 2023 Bingo card!

Ep4 - It’s the qualifier episode so we get more performances this time which was a lot of fun and just what I was hoping for. Sweet Ji-Won making Andrea an ugly poster - they are just the dumbest and cutest. Ofc the group is being absolutely insane as they prep. We got Indra with her sage, Tomas trying to hug Ji-Won, and them memorizing capitals to calm their nerves. The sillies are so silly. I’m just honestly having a good time. And the they miss the cut …by 1!

Ep5 - Obviously they weren’t going to stay down for long. Absolutely dying at Tomás not showering for days so he can scrub thru the videos to find the other team that cheated to get disqualified. And then Hye-Jin using her wits to blackmail the competition lady so she actually would disqualify them. I’m just obsessed with this group. They’re all absolutely insane and lovable. I love how invested everyone is in Ji-Won and Andrea’s relationship too - as am I!! They’re so adorable also the fact that he’s always bringing her food to flirt I’m 😭.

The scene with them filming their music video!! First the hilarity of them trying to scale the wall when Indra walks through an open gate 😂 and then the MV was really good! The song kind of reminded me of Dynamite by BTS lmao. I’m curious if we’ll get these songs on Spotify they’re all stuck in my head now (ticky ticky toc toc) . Also props to the director keeping the Pablo bit going even when they were all running away from the cop and still blocking Pablo’s face with his camera 🤭

Ep6 - The big finale already and I’m just sad this is already ending. But Andrea convincing Sylvana to stay and encouraging the team by showing her talent show video and them all agreeing to call the team L-Pop why are they all so cute?! The vintage shop scene was adorable and the whole group getting caught watching Andrea/Ji-Won again, it never stops being funny. And I really love that Pau always encourages Andrea with K-Pop even tho it’s clearly not her thing 🥲 and just always shaking her head at the parents pushing her into dentistry. Ugh supportive sisters got me 🥺

Idk what’s going on with Diego, like is he supposed to be flirting with Andrea bc I can’t. Im so glad Ji-Won finally made his move tho!! But ah that cliffhanger — I need a s2 stat!

Anyway this show was just good vibes, good heart, cringey but proud! 10/10 highly recommend for anyone with any fan obsession that should get them institutionalized 😍

Gus and John were in New York for a ticker tape parade and other honors. Here’s the article transcription below the cut:

Life wasn’t quite the same Tuesday for Andrea Kline, 16, of New York City. Her “greatest moment”—meeting her pen-pal astronaut, Virgil (Gus) Grissom—came Monday. [She] started writing to Grissom five years ago, “before he became famous... I received five letters from Gus. One in his own handwriting!” she said after slipping into the invitation-only astronaut’s reception line at the Waldorf Astoria hotel and greeting Grissom face-to-face.

“Yeah, you know he is sick, so maybe there shouldn’t be too many people coming.” He tried to explain without telling too much.

“Someone to keep you safe would still be nice.” The the Queen insisted, crossing her arms in front of her chest while escorting the prince towards the garage.

Charles looked at her pleading.

“Take Andrea with you?”

“Mom, I can drive, I’ll take the least flashy car we have, all of them are very secure. I really don’t need a chaperone.” He rolled his eyes, crossing his arms against his chest too.

Pascale sighed, she understood, she did, but it just wasn’t the way of things. “Alright, but if you’d go here more often maybe later it would be a good thing to get a security check so you could go alone any time.” She suggested with a small, all knowing smile.

Charles blushed again, and tried to cover it up with a quick kiss on the cheeks. “Of course, I’ll arrange that. Thank you.” He turned on his heels rushing towards the massive car park in the garage.

“Oh, Charles?”

He turned but kept walking.

“Please give Max my best wishes, I hope the soup will make him feel better.” She waved goodbye, and walked upstairs before Charles could have woken up from his surprise. Maybe they weren’t so subtle they thought, or his mom just really knew everything what happened in the palace.

When he arrived to Max he was up it the apartment with quick strides and a boring elevator ride.

“Where is your arms of royal guards?” He asked looking around when no one arrived after Charles.

“It’s just me this time.” The brunette was excited beyond and Max felt it. He pressed a peck to his cheeks. “You don’t have fever.” He examined.

“No.”

“And I brought you something.” Charles was almost bouncing, his smile lifting up his whole face, eyes shining brightly.

He walked towards the kitchen setting down the container on the counter. “This will make you feel so much better.”

Max looked at the small portion of soup, not really getting the hype. “A soup from the royal kitchen?” He was sceptical. “I know you guys have great cooks but I doubt it makes so much difference.”

Charles shook his head with a pout and a huff. “I made it.” He announce.

“You cooked?”

“Yes?” Now he was getting annoyed.

“I didn’t know you can cook.” Max tried to save himself, while Charles opened the container inhaling deeply the fresh scent.

“Well, I can’t.” He explained, and lifted the thing pushing up it under Max’s nose. “But I made you mom help with her recipe.”

“I can’t smell anything, I’m sick.” Max looked at him expectantly, trying to sniff something he clearly couldn’t. “But I’m sure it’s very nice.” His fingers wrapped around the tanned ones, bringing it closer to his nose, but it was congested completely.

“It is. My mom made this to us all the time when we were sick, so now I made it to you.” Charles set the container down, trying to look for some plates, but a warm pull of a hand stopped him.

Max pulled him in a hug, wrapping his arms around the prince, trying to inhale his usually calming scent, but couldn’t. “That is very sweet of you.” He giggled placing a kiss on the soft cheeks. They stayed like this for a second, Charles arms drawing soothing circles to the broad back. “I wish I could kiss you.”

“You can when you won’t be sick.”

Max smiled, letting go of the brunette.

“Go, lay down, I’ll put this in a bowl and you can eat it on the couch.” They pulled away reluctantly, just to be next to each other again in a minute.

Max took the bowl from Charles who settled on the couch making sure the blonde was tucked in.

“I can’t feel much but even like this it tastes nice.” He complimented and it was true, the warm liquid made him feel better, his throat wasn’t hurting so bad and his empty stomach welcomed the filling food as well. “It looks like princes can cook too.” He joked, earning a slight shove on the shoulder.

“We are very versatile.”

“I already knew that, my sweet prince.” Max placed the empty bowl on the coffee table before turning to Charles with a smile. “Thank you, it was really nice.” He pulled the other’s hand between his hold, kissing the knuckles one by one. He couldn’t really tell how good it felt being cared for like this.

“I’m glad.” Charles scooted closer, kissing his hair softly. “We can watch something if you want.”

“You don’t have to go back?”

“Well, I’m already here, and I never said when I’m going back, and staying with you sounds way better than going back alone.” He pulled Max closer turning to the TV. “Someone needs to take care of you.”
