King Minos: Nah we can just put Daedalus in that high tower, it’s not like he can fly or anything.
Daedalus:

Enough talk about Icarus who flew too close to the sun and his wings melted. Not enough talk about Daedalus cradling his son's corpse and knowing that it happened because of his invention and because he failed to prevent his son from flying too close to the sun even though he knew the danger and told him about the danger

One interesting thing that happens when you read about Ancient Greek art is that the deeper you go, the more confusing it gets. Case in point:
Greece has an island called Crete. On that island lived king Minos, thus lending his name to Minoan art, which is used as a blanket term for art of this period.
The palace he lived in, is situated in Knossos, a place in Crete. Here we find proto-doric columns made out of wood and coloured red. It is also the home of the infamous minotaur, for which Daedalus built his labyrinth.
In Crete we also find another place called Thera, which has well-preserved frescos. The most famous of these is the Spring Fresco, which has its colours intact to this day.
So now we have Knossos and Thera, two places in Crete with significant importance in terms of Pre-Aegean art, grouped under Minoan art, because King Minos lived in Crete, in the Knossos palace.
And that's just the beginning.

Icarus's big twist.
Icarus loved Apollo so much that when Daedalus made the wings for him, he disobeyed his orders. He flew and flew to the sun; to his fate. Apollo wanted Icarus, but he knew Icarus wouldn't make it. He tried to grasp onto him, melting the wax of his forbidden love. Now at this point, Daedalus was horrified. He realized his manhood, and how even he defied the gods like a king and lost. Icarus fell and fell, towards the floor. He hurled down, thinking he would land on hard floors or soft sand; either way he knew he would die. Instead of that, he looked finally; water. The god of the sea looked up from his throne and saw the hurdling boy coming toward his waters. He went up and caught the boy in the water's embrace. Icarus felt the cold ripple through his body and thought he would surely drown. He opened his eyes to see he could, he could talk under the water, he could even breathe. "Who are you, mortal?" A question from a god. Icarus looked up at the god, who was not in his full form. "Icarus." He tried to say with pride. The god contemplated. He knew this name; the son of the architect Daedalus. "Icarus, son of Daedalus," Even if he wasn't finished talking, Icarus looked up and nodded. The god didn't smile. "Welcome to the place of the sea; where the waters, cold or warm, flow through me. God of the sea and land. Earthshaker and King of the Sea. I am Poseidon."

Ancient Greece is a brutal place, only becoming more dangerous as monsters attack city after city. It is up to heroes to stop them. Maybe even the aspiring hero, Heracles (Snotlout), can prove he has what it takes, but what about his cousin, Daedalus (Hiccup)? Goddesses and gods like Athena (Astrid) and Zeus (Stoick) often dismiss him when he enters their temples. Disliked by the mortals and immortals, Daedalus seemingly has no way to survive when he too is targeted by the monsters. A hero can only be made on a battlefield after all, never near a forge…at least all but one fierce god feels this way.

Come one, come all! Gather round!
Listen, my friends, to the Adventures of Icarus and the legacy he left behind.
Fourteen year old Icarus is the son of the renowned inventor Daedalus. Unfortunately, Daedalus is a busy man and his work leaves very little time for his son. When his father takes him on a business trip, Icarus hopes to bond with his father. Little does Icarus know, he is surrounded by dark secrets and danger. With an evil king, the ongoing war, spies, conspiracies, and all the secrets… this father-son duo is in for a legendary adventure unlike any other.
Legacy of Icarus is a Victorian-steampunk twist on the tragic Greek myth. You’ll be on the edge of your seats as love, family drama, and evil plots unfold before your eyes! Enjoy!
About the Playwright: Hi! Nice to meet you! I’m a 21 year old partially deaf playwright. I picked up playwriting in middle school and was mentored by a local playwright in my hometown. Prior to that, I had been performing in theater since I was four! Besides being a playwright, I am long time PJO fangirl, Greek Mythology fan since first grade, and an avid reader overall. I was fascinated by books and writing from a young age due to some of the struggles I faced as a Deaf child in a hearing family. I spent a majority of my life either volunteering, acting, writing, or figure skating. I like to keep busy. Lol.
Hope you all enjoy what I post as I continue working on this project!

Poison
Daedalus, Daedalus
Won't you stay afloat?
Tears amidst the salty ocean
Cry, cry, but soar.
Icarus, Icarus
Your father loved you so.
Melting wax, meet the clouds
Soar, soar, and grow.
Don't think of Talos, whom you pushed with a pair of hands
The same pair of hands with which you crafted two pairs of wings
The same pair of wings on which the two of you flee
One sinks, and the other weeps.
Golden pinions in honeyed glare
Offer your wings to the sun.
Judas wraps his flank around you
So sleep now, you've won.
