Tengen's wives often get pretty neglected by the Fandom. So, I wish to give them some love. All 3 of them, definitely, hold a lot of personal trauma, but especially around children. They would have probably been told that they must give birth to a lot of children for their future husband and were 100% taught how to be mothers, making them perfect to care for baby Obanai.

Suma specifically would take a lot of pride in doing that, as she would want to be a mother. Her being super invested into caring for him, as if he were her own child.

Makio and Hina, less so, but both always being willing to jump in and help.

They could possibly become best friends with Mitsuri through Obanai's situation and find other things they have in common.

with the three growing up having it constantly drilled in their head they'll have to carry several children and be strong for their future husband i do think there's some underlying distress and frustration there, and i do wonder if it will help ease that pressure if they were able to help out with someone else's baby-- they didn't have to go through pregnancy or labor, it's not their baby to mother and raise-- they just get to help out and be an anchor of support

i also imagine tengen doesnt pressure them at all. he loves those women with his whole heart. if they expressed anything about not wanting to bare children, he would respect it. they could always adopt, he says. and if they do have kids-- he's not making them do all the work! that man would be a stay at home dad if he could!

i do agree that suma would be the one most eager to be a mother, whereas makio and hinatsuru less so, though they are of course willing to help, and im sure they love being around a baby

an interesting dynamic ive always believed is tengen's wives HATE obanai. they dont really understand him. they see him as hateful towards women and a cruel person toward their husband, though tengen tries to reassure them that isnt the case at all. having a deaged obanai around probably helps reassure them of that. they see how much tengen and obanai adore each other without the wall that obanai's built up, and understand that it's not that obanai hates women-- it's that he fears them

the baby is always crying around them and trying to hide in either sanegiyuu, tengen, or mitsuri-- whoever is holding him at the time. since the baby is scared, kaburamaru is all worked up and hissing and snapping at the girls. they slowly figure out babynai is scared of them, and over time, they gain his trust, and in turn, they recognize obanai truly isnt that bad-- he's just a damaged guy in need of care

so, whenever babynai is visiting or having to spend the night-- if tengen isnt absolutely doting over the little guy-- the girls help out when they can and, in turn, tengen helps them out. if the girls want to play with the baby for a bit, tengen is more than happy to step away and cook dinner or do the laundry

and to your point, ive always seen tengen's wives as being super close with shinobu and mitsuri, and i see that happening here! if we throw babybu into the mix, i just know those girls are FIGHTING over who gets to hold the baby. babybu loves all the girl time!!

slowly babybu and mitsuri are able to convince babynai to let the girls get him all dressed up. insert babynai with the cutest little bows. the girls cant decide if he should have pink or purple (they only have pink and purple because of miss nobu) but babynai wants to match with mitsuri so... pink it is!

The stage was set, the lights dimmed, and the air buzzed with excitement as the stars of the South Indian film industry gathered for the prestigious SIIMA awards ceremony. Among them stood Prabhas, the beloved actor whose towering presence and magnetic charm had captivated audiences around the world.

Beside him, his wife Shreya glowed with the radiance of impending motherhood, her growing belly a testament to the new life they were about to bring into the world. Dressed in an elegant gown that accentuated her pregnancy, she smiled proudly at her husband, her eyes shining with love and anticipation.

As the evening unfolded, the awards were handed out, and the atmosphere crackled with energy and excitement. Finally, the moment arrived—the announcement of the Best Actor award. Prabhas held his breath as his name was called, his heart pounding with a mixture of excitement and gratitude.

Stepping onto the stage, Prabhas accepted the award with humility and grace, his voice filled with emotion as he thanked his fans, his co-stars, and the entire film fraternity for their support. But just as he was about to step down from the stage, a voice rang out from the audience.

"Prabhas, congratulations on your win!" exclaimed the anchor, Suma, her voice carrying through the hall. "But we can't help but notice the glow on your wife's face. Is there something you'd like to share with us?"

Prabhas's cheeks flushed with color as he glanced at Shreya, his heart swelling with pride at the sight of her. "Yes, there is," he replied, his voice filled with warmth. "Shreya and I are expecting our first child."

The audience erupted into cheers and applause as the news spread like wildfire through the hall. Cameras flashed, capturing the joyous moment as Prabhas and Shreya shared a tender embrace on stage, their hearts overflowing with love and happiness.

But the surprises didn't end there. As the applause died down, Suma turned to Shreya with a twinkle in her eye. "Shreya, would you like to join your husband on stage?" she asked, her voice filled with warmth.

Shreya hesitated for a moment, her hand resting protectively on her belly. But then, with a smile, she nodded, her eyes shining with excitement. With Prabhas's help, she rose gracefully from her seat, her pregnancy adding a radiant glow to her beauty.

Prabhas reached down from the stage and extended his hand to Shreya, his heart swelling with pride as he helped her up the stairs. Together, they stood side by side, their hands clasped tightly, as the audience cheered and applauded their love and happiness.

But the surprises were far from over. As the cheers subsided, a representative from SIIMA stepped forward, holding a small gift in their hands. With a smile, they handed it to Prabhas and Shreya, their eyes twinkling with mischief.

"For the newest member of your family," they announced, their voice filled with warmth. "A little something to welcome them into the world."

Prabhas and Shreya exchanged puzzled glances before unwrapping the gift together. Inside, they found a tiny onesie, soft and delicate, with a message embroidered on the front:

"MY NANNA'S THE REBAL 🌟 STAR"

Tears welled up in Shreya's eyes as she read the message, her heart overflowing with love and gratitude. Beside her, Prabhas's eyes shone with pride as he held the onesie in his hands, his heart swelling with love for his unborn child.

As the applause echoed through the hall, Prabhas and Shreya stood together on stage, their hands clasped tightly, their hearts united in love and anticipation for the new chapter that awaited them. And in that moment, surrounded by the warmth and affection of their colleagues and friends, they knew that their journey into parenthood had only just begun.

Author's Note: This is based on The Orange by Wendy Cope & the Orange Peel Theory. I have a lot of thoughts about Suma & how she is with the Strawhats. This takes place between Thriller Bark & Fishman Island.

They had stopped at a small island for a supply run. Luffy had run the moment they tied the ropes and dropped anchor, dragging Zoro along with the promise of finding someplace to eat. Nami had escaped, as well; off to shop for new inks and parchments to continue to track their progress. Chopper stuck close to herself and Robin while Usopp and Franky worked on cleaning the deck of the Thousand Sunny- giving it a good, proper scrub down.

Sanji wandered with them through the market, picking up some things for lunch. A small picnic, something calm and peaceful after the chaos that they had gone through lately. Suma paused at a fruit stand, her gaze wandering over the ripe grapefruits, the oranges the size of her palms, the peaches that begged to be picked and eaten. Sanji gathered a few, murmuring that they would be perfect when paired with this cheese he’d found. Robin gathered a small bushel of strawberries- and a slightly larger bushel of blueberries and blackberries for Chopper, much to his delight.

Suma smiled. This was nice. This was peaceful.

She bought herself a large plum. It was funny, really, how large it was. She swears she’d never seen one quite so big, not when compared to the others in the crate. The stand owner laughed, claimed that it was a lucky fruit. She believed him, believed his cheery smile and his rosy cheeks and the way he’d been so pleased that they had stopped.

They settled in a shaded spot on the grass, waiting for the rest of their crew to return. There, Robin peeled the ridiculously large plum for her despite her saying that she could do it. (“But you hate the way the peel gets under your nails,” Sanji had reminded her, handing his knife over to Robin, who set about peeling away.). She couldn’t argue. She took half; Robin and Sanji shared a quarter each.

Suma hadn’t thought a plum could make her so happy, but lately, ordinary things had done so. Made her happy in ways she couldn’t really understand. Early mornings when she and Zoro were starting to head to bed after watching the ship through the night, when the sky was painted with soft pinks and deep purples. Or the laughter that Luffy brings as he sits atop the lion’s head. How Robin had finally relaxed once more, how she looked when Franky spoke to her. Little things.

This sort of peace is new to Suma. A life of fear, of not knowing what the next day would bring, what threat would be directed towards her. No longer hopping ship to ship to get to port. It was nice; a change she hadn’t anticipated but not one that she was angry about.

The rest of their day was easy. They cleaned up, gathered their provisions, returned to the ship. She settled in the kitchen with Sanji, helping to prepare for dinner. She handled the baking; he handled the meats. After, she went down to help Robin with their laundry, taking care of folding the clothes she knew would end up tossed about when Nami couldn’t find what she wanted, or when Luffy would toss them away carelessly. It was the thought that counts, really.

After, she sat that night by the wheel. Zoro was on the deck below, talking with Luffy quietly as the moon began to rise high into the sky. Nami stood behind her at the wheel; Usopp coming up to offer her modified climate staff back. Robin sat with Franky quietly upon the steps, lost in their own world. Sanji and Chopper sat, eating the berries Robin had bought earlier.

‘I love this,’ Suma thought to herself. ‘I love you all. I’m glad to exist.’
