@da-boy-o-kultur the ear wiggle to show she is happy is one of the best parts of this anime. I think that alone is going to make me prefer the anime over the light novel. Also. Thank you for brow-beating me into giving this show a chance. I think I am going to be looking forward to watching it every week.

I was wondering how long An Archdemon’s Dilemma was going to keep the relationship between the leads in the murky waters of “benevolent slave master,” but literally as soon as he gets the key to her collar he frees her and, wanting her to live her own life, lets her go.

Well, he phrases it as “GTFO my house,” but at least this means that if she does decide to come back it’ll be on her own terms.

😢 can’t believe this really over man. One of the biggest surprises of the season. Need another season for sure. But I’ll def check out the LN

Finale had everything that makes this such a special watch! Valefor fully incorporated into Zagan and Nephy’s home as their daughter now. Even the townspeople can’t help but comment on how cute they are. Given everything both she and Nephy have been through I’m so happy they have a place where they belong and are loved.

Seeing the whole cast together for a final meal was perfect! Raphael as a butler considering how powerful and high ranking a knight he was seems weird, but at the same time feels like he was made for it lol. Chastille looking gorgeous as per, but the fact Barbatos has to watch over her constantly because she’s clumsy was so funny!

Zagan is so kind and wants all the people he cares about taken care of, and with good reason tbf. Without that Barbatos security detail, Chastille would probably be dead from any number of things now lol. Including her cooking which according to Nephy is as bad as the muddy water she used to have to drink as a slave lmao

Serving it to Barbatos after he wouldn’t shut up talking shit about Chastille was brilliant. I feel like they’re setting up he and Chastille as a ship.. never sensed chemistry from them before, but I could see it after this one.

“Their long story has only just begun” 😭 beautiful final scene man. Zagan and Nephy are just perfect for one another and found each other at the perfect time. Zagan’s really come out of his shell and opened his heart to the world thanks to her. He looks so happy finally.

I’m gonna miss this so much 😩

Synopsis When the sorcerer Zagan decides to participate in an auction selling the goods of the now dead Archdemon Marchosias, he expects to find items of untold power. What he finds instead is a rare white-haired slave elf named Nephilia, and he immediately spends all his money to purchase her, much to the bewilderment of those around him. However, the secret reason behind Zagan's investment was that he had actually fallen in love with her at first sight.

Unfortunately, Zagan has a problem: he is socially inept and has no idea how to express his true feelings, leading to many misunderstandings between him and his new companion. But slowly, the two begin to understand each other, and love begins to bloom.

First Impressions To be clear, it looks like they released two episodes instead of one, but I haven't watched the second episode yet because I intend first impression reviews to be about just the first episode.

So far the premise seems similar to Ancient Magus Bride except from the perspective of the master in the master/slave relationship. Of course Ancient Magus Bride had a very different tone from this one so I wouldn't say it's a copycat at all. Ancient Magus Bride had this gloom hanging over it, perhaps because we're watching from the perspective of a human with nothing left to lose, but eventually finds peace in the quiet country life. Meanwhile Archdemon's Dilemma is actually so funny? Most of the comedy comes from Zagan being inept talking to people, but it wasn't like Elias Ainsworth wasn't a dweeb. The difference is that since it's from his perspective, Zagan isn't mysterious to the audience like Ainsworth was, so we get to cringe along with him instead of wondering what's on his mind.

Enough rambling comparing one anime to another though. Even though it's funny it also somehow manages to be so cute? Maybe I'm biased because Zagan has long hair so he's hot. Anyway, I'm so hype to watch another episode right now I think I might wrap up the review there for now.

I'm really enjoying the story and characters in An Archdemon's Dilemma, but J-Novel Club really needs to up their translation game. If I have to read the phrase "span on the spot" one more time, I'm gonna seriously lose my shit >_<
