Mortal Kombat Odyssey Bio: Shinnok
Tumblr media
From the moment of his birth, Shinnok was unlike his fellow Elder Gods. While all among their number were created from the coalescence of natural forces of the universe, only Shinnok was born from its primal darkness. His mother, the Elder Goddess of Time, Kronika, had created him explicitly to embody this force, as it was a niche then-unoccupied by any among the Elder Gods. The concept of balance was always something of value to her, something which she personified into her children.
Shinnok in particular was to have a dual existence, not only to embody darkness, but also death, which she believed would be a proper counterbalance to the power over life that the Elder Gods commanded.
This essence of death was collected from the energies of Elder Gods who died in battle with the One Being. It was an act deemed questionable by the other Elder Gods, a possible desecration of their remains and memories.
This immediately created a rift between Shinnok and the others. From his perspective, they had no right to question the nature of his existence. He was here now, it didn’t matter how to him, and as members of the same race, they were meant to support one another.
Despite the misgivings of the other Elder Gods, Shinnok was ultimately accepted, his intuition making him a valuable asset in the war with the One Being.
Near the war’s end, the Elder Gods crafted the six Kamidogu as their ultimate weapons against their eternal foe. While powerful, they were not quite a match for the One Being’s sheer might. That changed when Shinnok made use of his divine powers to craft a seventh talisman: the aptly named Amulet of Shinnok. With this amulet, the Kamidogu could be united into a tool with which the user could master all reality.
Ultimately however, the Elder Gods were able to successfully fell the One Being wielding the Kamidogu separately. Shinnok was on some level… disappointed. That power over reality, a power which no one Elder God could wield innately, as even for all their accomplishments, none of them had a full grasp on the inner workings of the universe… it fascinated him.
But alas, the opportunity to explore that power had passed in the eyes of the Elder Gods. Shinnok offered some protest, arguing that the Kamidogu should be united on the simple principle of testing the limits of their collective power, but the other Elder Gods refused, fearing what such power might do. His mother was able to convince him to desist, and so Shinnok joined the others in turning his attention to the new universe that was born from the One Being’s defeat. On one such day that he was as surveying the infant universe, the Elder Gods scattered the Kamidogu amongst the new realms… and refused to tell him where they had hidden them. They didn’t trust him. Nor frankly did he them, at least not completely. Shinnok refused to surrender his amulet for similar safekeeping, and the Elder Gods decided to not press the issue after being persuaded by Kronika.
The loss of those keys to infinite power would not be the only change brought upon by this new universe.
At the dawn of the newborn world, Kronika had created Shinnok’s sister, Cetrion, as an embodiment of the life and vitality found in these newly born realms. Shinnok felt an immediate kindship with her, a feeling he had previously felt only for his mother. Cetrion was joyous, and curious in her own way. She made Shinnok feel… less isolated. Less alone.
Over the eons, Shinnok would observe the development of that life in this new universe that Cetrion seemed to intrinsically cherish. While many of the other Elder Gods were fascinated, or at least amused, Shinnok found the new life… unimpressive. Lesser. He did not see the value that the others did in these lifeforms. They were small. Limited. Chaotic. Incomparable to beings like he and his fellow Elder Gods.
And yet, the others felt something parental towards them. A need to protect them, safeguard them… coddle them. They put aside what in Shinnok’s mind was their obvious superiority to allow these beings room to grow and change. He believed that as Gods, they should hold dominion over these beings. Servants, rather than charges.
But his mother convinced him to stifle those feelings, which he did… to the best of his ability. Shinnok’s disdain would cause a rift between himself and his sister, who felt nothing but love for these creatures. The Elder Gods believed that they had defeated the One Being to craft their own destinies, and allow other lifeforms to do the same. Cetrion quickly came to believe this as well.
Shinnok believed that they had killed the One Being and were now owed their mantle of supremacy.
But for more eons, Shinnok would be tempered. The other Elder Gods, especially Cetrion, were convinced that they could bring him over to their point of view.
A decision point came when his mother completed work on the Hourglass, and quickly fell into her obsession with the manipulation of time. Her children were the first who she told of what she had seen, which now included the sentinel Geras. Having watched the mortals from the Heavens himself, everything his mother shared had aligned with what Shinnok had come to believe.
At this point, he no longer saw the mortals simply lesser than the Elder Gods, but also wholly incapable of ruling themsleves. He found that when left to their own devices, mortals were prone to chaos, petty power struggles, killing each other senselessly, and destroying their own worlds. Kronika’s vision of structuring their destinies to create perfection, to eliminate their poor decision making, was highly appealing to Shinnok.
Cetrion, conversely, was mortified. The rest of the Elder Gods had similar reactions, and acted against Kronika quickly.
Although he agreed with her intentions, Shinnok did not side with his mother. He knew immediately that the other Elder Gods would disapprove, and for the moment, he did not wish to jeopardize his own position. He could not bring himself to do battle with his mother either, and so chose a position of neutrality in the ensuing conflict. When Kronika was defeated and he was called upon to cast his vote, Shinnok aligned himself with the others, knowing it would be useless to dissent.
Shinnok watched mostly silent as his mother was stripped of her status as an Elder God and banished to the mortal realms below. He had hoped that the Elder Gods would not squander the power of the Hourglass. If he acted quickly, he could implement her vision, and modify it to suit his own. But alas, the device was locked away, restricted with such heavy magic that not even the Elder Gods themselves could breach the Keep. Nor could they lift said protection without invoking their combined power. Shinnok could sense their distrust of him in this decision. A distrust that they had always carried for him due to his nature, and one which it was becoming increasingly difficult for Shinnok to stomach.
Their rules had become difficult to stomach as well.
66 million years ago, Shinnok had finally had enough of the Elder Gods’ restrictions. He would save the mortals from themselves and gain the worship he felt entitled to, and he would do it in the most direct way possible.
Suspecting that his fellow Elder Gods would not follow, Shinnok departed the Heavens abruptly for the mortal realms, setting his sights on Earthrealm as his first conquest. While he was correct in his suspicion, he was not able to completely escape their wrath.
Cetrion spotted him leaving, and the other Elder Gods acted quickly. They stripped Shinnok of his status as a full Elder God, but the barrier separating the Heavens from the other realms prevented them from completely rendering him mortal as they had done to his mother.
Shinnok fell from the Heavens a lesser deity than he had been, but still powerful, and undeterred. In fact, his rage was only greater. His schism from the Elder Gods was complete, and as he completed his conquest of the realms, he vowed that he would take time to spit on the face of all they had intended.
Shinnok’s one-man invasion of Earthrealm brought devastation like nothing the realm has ever seen. He collided like a meteorite with the ground of the realm and began subjugating everything in sight, annihilating those who defied him.
The creatures of Earthrealm, including its first intelligent race; the Saurians, were all but helpless against Shinnok’s onslaught. Many reluctantly submitted to his rule, believing their situation to be hopeless.
As Shinnok suspected, the Elder Gods did nothing. Too high and mighty to descend from the Heavens and actually save their precious mortals, just as they did nothing to correct their chaos.
But of course. The Elder Gods had already assigned agents to protect the realms in the absence of their direct action. And in Shinnok’s hubris, he underestimated those guaridans.
Raiden, the Thunder God of Earthrealm and its Protector, intercepted Shinnok’s advance through the realm and engaged him in combat.
Their battle raged across the realm for ages, Raiden holding nothing back in the face of having to battle an Elder God, even a weakened one.
As a consequence, apocalyptic destruction was brought in their wake, the very world they fought upon being scorched by their power. Many of Earthrealm’s creatures, including much of the mighty dinosaurs, were wiped out, mere collateral damage of a clash between gods.
The Saurians were ultimately forced to flee to the realm of Zaterra, leaving Earthrealm behind as Raiden and Shinnok continued to fight.
By the time the battle had finally ended, it was the mark of a new era for Earthrealm. Though struggling greatly against the might of the fallen Elder God, Raiden eventually managed to prevail after such a lengthy war.
With Shinnok defeated, Raiden did his duty and turned him over to the mercy of the Elder Gods.
Rather than stripping of his power and memories and allowing him to start anew, as they had done with his mother, the Elder Gods this time erred on the side of spite.
They decided that for his crimes against their laws and against Earthrealm, Shinnok deserved punishment. He was chained and banished to the depths of the Netherrealm, left in the “care” of Hell’s protector god, Lucifer, who was assigned to torture him for his sins and so that he would never be a major threat again.
His amulet was taken from his possession and locked within a fortress constructed by Cetrion herself known as the Temple of Elements. The temple was guarded by powerful spells and four younger gods who embodied the base elements of Earthrealm, which included Raiden’s younger brother Fujin. During the battle with Shinnok, they had been focused on preserving life and evacuating areas where the carnage was spreading, attempting to allow Raiden the piece of mind needed to cut loose. Fujin in particular assisted in ferrying many Saurians to the wild realm of Zaterra. The Elder Gods and the Earthrealm deities agreed that the powerful artifact could never again be wielded by any who would misuse its power, especially after they discovered how well Shinnok had made it.
Charged with a greater amount of divine power than any individual Kamidogu, and quickly discovered to be indestructible, the amulet was deemed a weapon of mass destruction to be kept under lock and key. One or all four of the elemental gods would stand guard over it at all times, eternally vigilant.
As for Shinnok himself, he would undergo torment at the hands of Lucifer for millennia, the Lord of Hell taking a dark delight in his suffering.
Shinnok would remain imprisoned until the fateful day where he was met by a fledgling demon-oni sorcerer by name of Quan Chi. The sorcerer had recently started an uprising against the powers that be in the Netherrealm. He and his people had been enslaved by Lucifer’s servants to serve as labor, and after uncovering a spellbook of black magic, Quan Chi had vowed never to be bound again.
Moreover, he had begun a campaign to liberate all those which the cruel masters of his realm had imprisoned. When he had received word that an Elder God had been fallen victim to the warden of Hell, Quan Chi had decided that said Elder God would make a powerful ally.
Using his unique ability to create portals that could breach past most protective magics meant to block out mystical forms of transportation, Quan Chi entered Shinnok’s cell after coordinating an attack on the Prison of Souls with the forces under his command.
Once in the Fallen Elder God’s presence, Quan Chi proposed an alliance against Lucifer. Shinnok’s aid in overthrowing him for his freedom. Shinnok was impressed by the audacity of this demon, to attempt to bargain with an Elder God. But it was obvious that Quan Chi recognized no superior. Shinnok, who had defied those who had tried to decide how he should wield his power… could understand.
He agreed, and Quan Chi freed him. Together, they razed Lucifer’s forces, took the Prison of Souls for themselves, and waged a continuous campaign for control of the Netherrealm.
After his forces had dwindled, either through defeat or desertion, the Elder Demons had been slain, and his arcane relics had been scattered or seized by the Fallen Elder God and demon sorcerer, Lucifer found himself all but alone. His fortress was raided and Shinnok challenged Lucifer personally in front of hordes of demons and sinners from both sides.
Despite Lucifer’s mastery of the dark magics of the Netherrealm, he was unable to withstand the onslaught of Shinnok, who was enraged at his captor.
Lucifer was defeated, and never seen again. Whispers began to spread that Shinnok had found a way to kill an immortal. After all, who would know better than an Elder God?
Shinnok immediately named himself as the new ruler of the Netherrealm, and began to shape the realm in his image.
Shinnok began to claim territory by force. For the people of this realm, he began preaching his ideology that mortals were chaotic, unruly beings who needed the grace of his order to protect them from their worse impulses. He used the sinners reincarnated in the Netherrealm as examples of this to win the support from demons, oni, and those who sought redemption from his past sins.
Previously something of a freedom fighter, Quan Chi would be quickly swayed by Shinnok’s rhetoric about the unfair hand dealt to he and the people of his realm by the Elder Gods, especially as they favored the mortals of the living realms despite their countless sins.
He also convinced his followers that as Netherrealmers, they were a form of immortals and therefore superior to those who lived in the realms above.
Shinnok promised freedom from the depths of Hell for all who joined, a glorious ascent in which they would claim true freedom and smite those who had attempted to oppress them, including the Elder Gods themselves. With Quan Chi, Shinnok would form a cult with himself as its god and his sorcerer ally as its leader: the Brotherhood of Shadow.
His influence over the Netherrealm would rapidly expand, until almost every explorable corner of the realm was under Shinnok’s rule. The only outliers were the wastelands where Oni who chaffed against his dominion roamed, and the lowest plane of the Netherrealm… where the darkest souls dwelled and were meant to never escape.
Shinnok would begin to rapidly industrialize the Netherrealm, organizing labor parties and utilizing his own fabrication sorcery to turn the sparse towns and miles of dead lands into sprawling cities for the denizens of the Netherrealm to inhabit… all with heavy Brotherhood of Shadow oversight.
The first of these was Nekros, built atop an ancient Soul Stone which enhanced the magics of any sorcerer within range, who’s abilities were usually weakened in the Netherrealm.
The magics unique to the Netherrealm itself became a fascination of Shinnok’s, and he began an intense study of the dark arts, studies which he shared with Quan Chi, increasing the potency of both their magics, and opening new doors for achieving their goals.
Necromancy would become a valuable to the Fallen Elder God, seeking to command all souls, both living and dead.
His iron grip over the Netherrealm would continue for millennia. Minor resistance movements failed to gain traction and the Brotherhood of Shadow continued to spread Shinnok’s gospel.
But he did not keep his gaze fixed to the Netherrealm exclusively. Using his divine powers, he peered into the developing Earthrealm, the conquest that Raiden had denied him so long ago. Shinnok swore that he would have his revenge for that act…
However, Earthrealm itself continued to fascinate him. Where the societies of most realms turned their attention to sorcery and the advancement of magic as a means to improve their day to day lives, Earthrealmers, humans, made very sparing use of the mystic arts, and instead used their ingenuity to create incredible pieces of technology which Shinnok saw great value in. During the process of his industrialization of the Netherrealm, he would begin to mold the realm in some ways into a mirror of Earthrealm, a reminder of the prize he sought to acquire.
He also kept eyes on the realms of Edenia and Outworld. Due to the unseen cosmic shackles placed on him by the Elder Gods, Shinnok was restrained to the Netherrealm. The only object with enough power to free him was his amulet… and that was too heavily guarded for his followers to reach. For all its intricacies, Netherrealm sorcery could not counter the Elemental Gods.
As such, he would need to seek allies elsewhere.
By the time Shinnok had solidified his control over the Netherrealm, the former protector god Shao Kahn had already taken the throne of the Outworld empire. Shinnok dispatched Quan Chi to offer an alliance between their two realms, ostensibly motivated by their mutual opposition to the Elder Gods and desire to bring about the fall of Earthrealm.
Shao Kahn accepted, both sides trading agents to advance their schemes, making an agreement to take Earthrealm together. In secret, both anticipated the moment that why would need to betray each other. Shao Kahn played along with the alliance to gain access to the Netherrealm, hoping this would allow him to discover dark magics which could assist him in eventually battling Shinnok.
Shinnok meanwhile enabled Shao Kahn’s campaign against Earthrealm, giving him resources that would assist in invading the realm. In secret, he planned to swoop in after the war between Earthrealm and Outworld was over and conquer both realms no matter the victor. If Earthrealm prevailed over Shao Kahn, Outworld would likely be leaderless, but Earthrealm would likewise be greatly damaged by the Emperor’s onslaught. If Shao Kahn won, Earthrealm would be crushed without Shinnok having to lift a finger, and Shao Kahn would have expended a great amount of troops and resources to accomplish it.
Shinnok also saw the need for agents to destabilize Earthrealm directly. He dispatched demons of the Brotherhood to form cults of his worship, some of which preformed arcane rituals of fusing human and demon in order to create sleeper agents for Shinnok’s eventual invasion.
His most valuable agents in Earthrealm however would not be forces directly under his command, but rather his allies; the crime syndicate known as the Red Dragon.
Shinnok had aided in the founding of the Red Dragon centuries ago when he observed the awakening of the Edenian demigod Daegon. Projecting a mystical image of himself, Shinnok intercepted Daegon and manipulated his anger and resentment towards his parents to turn him into a crucial ally for the Fallen Elder God’s plans for the future, particularly a great conflict which Daegon’s mother Delia had forseen in visions. As the Red Dragon’s criminal network grew across Earthrealm, so to did the depth of intelligence that Shinnok had access to.
The final piece of his grand plan was regaining his amulet so that he could free himself from the confines of the Netherrealm and walk freely among the mortal realms again. To that end, Quan Chi had been seeking a viable agent to obtain the amulet, and was beginning to narrow down his assessment to a small selection of assassin clans in Earthrealm.
With the amulet in his possession, Shinnok would again be free to wreak havoc on untold billions. A fallen Elder God risen again.

You know, looking how the elder Sub-Zero evolved through the various source media, it seems we could even argue that Kronika - the Keeper of Time obsesses with Perfect Balance Between Good and Evil - really set her mind to push him more and more on the evil” side with each restart of timeline.  And to do so, Bi-Han is more and more bound to cruel destiny bestowed on him while there is a part - maybe a memory from the original, previous life, or maybe it is just a cryomancer’s nature? - that rejects it. A pretty interesting thing to think about, as in older comics (Malibu) or even Mythologies: Sub-Zero, Bi-Han is more a neutral part, doing evil things as a means for his own survival and clan’s benefit than a cold bastard enjoying other people’s misery. Check, back in the past Bi-Han at times was a pretty heroic figure despite his assassin upbringing. All the real “corruption” comes after he is killed and turned into Wraith, stripped from his own humanity. So did Kronika consider Bi-Han to be a danger to her beloved Balance? Did she see Bi-Han as a threat of breaking it in a way she can’t control thus designing his fate more and more in cruel fashion? And even then Noob must be mind(?) controlled to keep in check by Quan Chi, as implied by
MK9 Noob’s Ending
"Quan Chi should never have resurrected Noob Saibot. Nor should he have enhanced his power to defeat Shao Kahn. The revenant he created had broken free of his control. Noob had secretly formed an "understanding" with a cleric from the realm of Chaos and opened for him a portal to the Netherrealm. Shinnok, Quan Chi and the Brotherhood of Shadow were unprepared as the forces of Chaos overwhelmed them, leaving the Underworld severely weakened. Satisfied with his work, the cleric, Havik, returned to the realm of Chaos. Noob Saibot remained to seize control of the Netherrealm."
MK11 intro dialogues
Noob Saibot: Quan Chi no longer binds me. Shao Kahn: Now what will you do, specter? Noob Saibot: Kill you.
MK11 Noob Saibot’s BIO
“Shadow of the Netherrealm. In life, Noob Saibot was known as Sub-Zero. Unjustly murdered by Scorpion, he was resurrected by Quan Chi and granted power over darkness, but as Quan Chi’s slave. Now, Quan Chi is dead. Noob Saibot is finally free to reclaim the honor that was stolen from him."
or
Mortal Kombat Onslaught (as can be seen here.)
All because Bi-Han refuses to grovel before any Master and once breaks out from the control, is out there to become a master of his own destiny and/or to kill his “owner”.
I mean, Kronika could manipulate time and timelines as she pleased but somehow the more she pushed her agenda, the more dangerous Bi-Han became to her own plans. The mortal Bi-Han, as the original game suggests, would take the money after killing Shang Tsung and quit the assassin job for good. Which is pretty low ambition considering all things while also the most neutral outcome to the general Balance. Then we have the Wraith. Noob Saibot may bow and obey, but he will seize any opportunity to bite back the hand that holds his leash. MK9 Noob? Brings Havik’s forces to fuck up Shinnok and Quan Chi and take over the whole Netherrealm. MK 11 Noob? Kills Kronika and transcends into being Death itself. Even the MK1 (2023) Noob, once his mind is mended, is out there to kill Titan Havik (though why Liu Kang objected that, when previously he had no problem with eliminating other timelines of Dark Titans, is a weird choice of the NRS).
Mortal Bi-Han just wants to be left alone and in peace, his clan’s safety secured. Noob is out there to fuck anyone that stand in the way of his freedom and ambitions, even if he needs pretend to be obedient for awhile.
Like, I’m really curious what Kronika was thinking when she so stubbornly decided that at best neutral mortal Bi-Han must be replaced with a much more ruthless, ambitious Wraith? It is like playing with fire, lol.
As Noob Saibot, he believes he has achieved absolute freedom, when in fact he is more a slave than ever of himself and the entire universe, even... He's like Hanzo Hasashi: the very personification of the tragedy of human condition in MK (I'm hardly exaggerating, honestly). And yet, he and Hanzo never give up. They refuse to believe that all is lost, and insist again and again on asserting their right to be truly free and happy, and to finally become masters of their own destinies. And in fact, this revolt against the universe's mortiferous determinism is already a powerful form of freedom.
I think Bi-Han as Noob is pretty much aware of his limitations due to his Masters (Shinnok, Quan Chi, Kronika), as most sources imply he is biding his time to backstab them and be on his own quest for power. I do think however he may really believe that death perfected him, in the sense he is cut from human weakness. As I imagine, a cold embrace of death is something a cryomancer accepts better than most people do.
I agree with what you said about Bi-Han and Hanzo and the fact that both managed to push past their trauma and rebuild their life in one way or another is really inspiring. But there is one big difference between them - all Quan Chi needed to keep Hanzo in check was to manipulate him emotionally, while Bi-Han was stripped from his humanity and enslaved in more controlling ways, like by dark magic. In that way, I think Bi-Han/Noob is even more impressive example of revolt against powers beyond his control and reclaiming what was taken from him while simply adapting to the situation at hand.

Have you noticed? There's a recurring motif in Bi-Han's trajectory in MK1 and Khaos Reigns. In fact, it's almost a running gag. Bi-Han wants absolute freedom for himself and his clan. His personal lexicon is thus filled with the closely intertwined themes of independence and servitude: "again kneel before you?", "shackle us, no", "to free the Lin Kuei from bondage", "captivity", "perfect henchman", "now that we serve ourselves", "I had broken the Lin Kuei free of Liu Kang's enslavement", "we were now masters of our destiny", "allowed to desire a better future", "I had gained the Lin Kuei's freedom", "[Liu Kang] wants to control", "we must tighten control", "submit", "no one leaves the Lin Kuei", "living in your sister's shadow", "I refuse to fight in your shadow", etc.
But at the same time, Bi-Han is also the most imprisoned being in the game. The most manhandled, tied up and chained (physically, spiritually and mentally); the one with the most moments of vulnerability and unconsciousness—but also the one who is most carried by others and touched by them. It is as if no one wants him to achieve freedom, and instead wants to keep him jealously for themself. Is it because he is the most gorgeous character in the whole franchise, but also one of the most talented and powerful, as if he had been blessed by the gods? They all want to sit his ethereal beauty on their laps and never let it escape. They all want to possess it, selfishly revel in it and manipulate it as they please like a doll, out of lust, resentment or pure wickedness.
Blessed by the gods, really? Yes, and no. For it is because of all these gifts that Bi-Han's also been the most cursed character in the game for just over 30 years. In reality, the gods are envious, greedy and vengeful, and the laws of the universe wantonly punish the mortals they have elected of all people to embody their divinity on Earth. This is the basis of all tragedy. (All screenshots by me, except for the Nitara ones: sources 1 & 2.)

Quan-Chi's Daughter Intros
A/N: Despite NO ONE asking for this. I decided to make these intros based on the reader from this request. Because of her backstory, my mind started concocting scenarios of her meeting certain characters besides her family. So, I hope y'all like this one.
Sub-Zero
Tumblr media
Y/N genuinely: Even with your cryomancy, you have a warm soul.
Sub-Zero: Do not think it means I'll make this spar easier.
Y/N chuckles: I would be offended if you did.
/
Sub-Zero: Is it possible for you to restore Cyrax?
Y/N: Necromancy isn't my strongest suit, but I could try it for you, my friend.
Sub-Zero: That is all either Cyrax or I could ask for.
/
Y/N: How is D/N's training with your Lin Kuei faring?
Sub-Zero: She shows much promise but is reluctant to use her more demonic abilities.
Y/N: That's for the best ... for you AND D/N's sake.
/
Sub-Zero: You were there when Quan-chi remade Hanzo and Bi-Han into specters?
Y/N: I was, and while I could help Hanzo, I wish I could've done more for your brother.
Sub-Zero firmly: He is beyond saving, Y/N.
Night Wolf
Tumblr media
Y/N: I still feel guilt for all my years working under Quan-chi.
Night Wolf: You’re not the only that harbors guilt for their past actions.
Y/N: Then we’re fortunate to have been enlightened before it was too late.
/
Night Wolf: Why are you so uneasy in my presence?
Y/N: Your Revenant was one of many that left his mark on me.
Night Wolf: I will do what I can to show, he is not who I really am.
/
Y/N: You allowed Hanzo to best you at the Tournament?
Night wolf: As you and I can both see, his path led to you and the revival of his clan.
Y/N sincerely: And for that, you have my gratitude.
/
Night wolf: Do not let your love for Hanzo become blinding.
Y/N: He opened my eyes to a world beyond the Netherrealm.
Night Wolf: I merely caution you to not mistake loyalty for blind obedience.
/
Johnny Cage
Tumblr media
Y/N: You defeated Shinnok in Kombat?
Johnny Cage: Are you also going to say that's batshit insane?
Y/N: No, I wanted to thank you for doing so.
/
Johnny Cage: Man, you are hot as hell!
Y/N: That's because liquid fire runs through my veins.
Johnny Cage: Do you not know what flirting is?
/
Y/N: I'm sorry, but I'm happily married to Hanzo.
Johnny Cage: He's one lucky S.O.B to have tied the knot with such a hottie.
Y/N: I'm fortunate to have him in my life.
/
Johnny Cage: If you're a demon, where's your horns, fangs, and tail?
Y/N: I'm told my true face tends to intimidate humans.
Johnny Cage: It can't be as bad as Sonya waking up on the wrong side of the bed.
/
Raiden:
Tumblr media
Y/N: As Dark Raiden, you frightened me.
Raiden: I can imagine many others share your sentiment.
Y/N: But not everyone could look at him, and could almost picture Shinnok in his place.
/
Raiden: Your daughter inherited your demonic abilities.
Y/N: I'm concerned about her losing control and doing something she'll regret.
Raiden: I trust you, and Scorpion trained her as well as you could.
/
Y/N: I may know how to keep Shinnok's amulet out of anyone's hands.
Raiden: What would be better than My Sky Temple?
Y/N: If you allow it, I would toss it into the Sea of Blood, far from anyone's reach.
/
Raiden: I wish to trust you, but it wasn't long ago that I saw you stand by your father.
Y/N: I left his side decades ago, and he then tried to have me killed.
Raiden: It's no surprise that Quan-chi doesn't value even his own family.
Spawn
Tumblr media
Y/N: I left the Netherrealm for a good reason.
Spawn sympathetically: I'm afraid the Netherrealm is not through with you.
Y/N with a demonic reverb: It shall NEVER have me again!
/
Spawn: You remind me of someone I loved.
Y/N softly: Did you lose her?
Spawn: She's lost to me for all eternity.
/
Y/N: You were sent back to the mortal realm because you wanted to see your wife again?
Spawn: Just as you cut ties with your father and Hell to be with your husband.
Y/N: Now, we're both free to choose our destinies.
/
Spawn: You've escaped the Netherrealm while all its strongest fighters were after you?
Y/N: As my scars can attest, I almost didn't.
Spawn: You're lucky, then, that you didn't have to make a deal with the Devil to escape.
/
Noob Saibot
Tumblr media
Y/N softly: I offer you mercy, Bi-Han.
Noob Saibot angrily: You think I need your pity?!?
Y/N: For you to be at peace, I have to free you of your shell.
/
Noob Saibot: You and your daughter fear the darkness within you.
Y/N: Shinnok and Raiden have shown me more than that absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Noob Saibot: You are both fools for not embracing your true potential.
/
Y/N: Sareena still speaks highly of you, Bi-han.
Noob Saibot: I am NOT the one she speaks of anymore.
Y/N: I know, so she'll be relieved to have you gone.
/
Noob Saibot: You married the man who killed me?
Y/N: I did, but I know what Hanzo did to you was unjust and unwarranted.
Noob Saibot: Then I'll take your life as retribution for him taking mine.
/
Cetrion
Tumblr media
Y/N: Were my prayers ever heard?
Cetrion: Even from the Netherrealm, I could hear a small girl's pleas for a better life, but I could not intervene.
Y/N lowly: Then you know why I am here...
/
Cetrion testily: You assisted your husband in killing your father.
Y/N angrily: Quan-chi has been dead to me long before Hanzo took his head.
Cetrion: It is not surprising that a demon has no remorse for their sin.
/
Y/N: What makes you worthy of my worship?
Cetrion: I know you seek salvation for your compliance with Quan-chi's schemes.
Y/N: I will not seek that from someone who is compliant with Kronika's plans.
/
Cetrion: Your love and appreciation for life is virtuous.
Y/N: Then why are you so determined to end all of it?
Cetrion: Not end it, Kronika will start anew to restore balance.
BONUS: Shinnok
Tumblr media
Y/N: Why in the 10 hells would my daughter ever serve you?
Shinnok: Because of your husband, it is her birthright to take Quan-chi's place.
Y/N with demonic reverb: D/N will not be yours to control!
/
Shinnok: Quan-chi should have beaten you as a child.
Y/N: What makes you think he didn't already try his best to break me every other way?
Shinnok: Obviously, it wasn't enough.
/
Y/N: All you have ever taught me about Death is false.
Shinnok: Then I have but one more lesson to teach you.
Y/N growling: I am DONE with your lessons.
/
Shinnok: Quan-chi's little songbird.
Y/N: I am neither his nor your pet bird any longer!
Shinnok: You are nothing more than lamb to the slaughter.

The King of all the Realms
DP x MK Prompt (My sister enjoys Mortal Kombat, and I got this idea after seeing her play MK11 recently)
The Infinite Realms, a Realm that is where all the dead go to, mortals, God's, and Titans. The Ghost King is the ruler of all the Realms, but when Pariah was sealed, the Realms slowly forgot about the Ghost King, only the Elder Gods, God's, the Demi-Gods, and the Titans know about the Ghost King.
Danny, the current heir to the Throne of the Infinite Realms after he bested Pariah, mourns his timeline. Kronika had reset the timeline he was from, and Clockwork, the first Keeper of the Hourglass before Kronika, could only save him.
Danny, having spent a few timelines worth of mourning, decides to get stronger and avenge his timeline.
He spends another couple of timelines training. He learns different martial arts, gains as many powers as he can, and plans how to take Kronika down. That is, until he learns about the new timeline Kronika has made.
He spends most of MK9 watching it unfold. It isn't until MKX that he begins his plans to take down Kronika. Because of Johnny Cage, he has remnants of power from the Infinite Realms because of his bloodline when the Cult learned of the Infinite Realms. It was the battle Johnny and Shinnok had that piqued his interest.
He intercepts Raiden when the Thunder God is on his way to where the Elder Gods are and brings him to his Keep. Danny pretends to be another Elder God that has been cast aside and sealed away. Danny, who goes by Phantom to Raiden, gives Raiden advice on how to do things whenever he intercepts Raiden. He tells the Thunder God to he Johnny Cage develop his powers, convincing the Thunder God that Johnny Cage has ties to Danny because of their "shared powers" when the Cult had gotten power from the Infinite Realms.
He wanted Shinnok's Amulet to get the Fallen Elder God to either join his side or take his powers to further his plans to take down Kronika, but Clockwork told him that Kronika would learn of him and if Danny did follow that plan of his, Shinnok would eventually kill Danny, with the help of Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Sindel, and Shao Khan, who would have become powerful Liminals because of Shinnok.
When Cassie is born, he tells Raiden to do the same to her, help her develop the powers she has. He tells Raiden that Shinnok will return, because Clockwork told Danny but kept that bit from Raiden, and to train as many people as he can for the fights that are to come.
After Shinnok is defeated and Raiden becomes corrupt by the Amulet, Danny tells Raiden about the upcoming time merger that Kronika plans to do. He also tells Raiden that soon, he will be "freed" to help the younger Raiden in the fight against Kronika.
When the time merger does happen, Danny presents himself before Kronika in the chamber that houses the Hourglass in her Keep, the Crown of Flames, and the Ring of Rage pulsing with power before the Titan who took everything from him.
"Kronika, you have become driven mad with creating the perfect timeline. So much so that my timeline was erased. But the Keeper before you had saved me from being erased with it. And now, I am here to aid in your downfall by the hands of one of your enemies you have brought with the time merger"

Gods/Titans x Sick! Reader
Characters: Shinnok, Raiden, Fujin, Liu Kang, Cetrion, Kronika
A/N: Did not have the brainpower to work on my other stories so I drafted up this instead. Influenza is a bitch.
TW: Implied yandere, mentions of drugging, kidnapping, death, SFW
18+ to interact
Shinnok
Can probably detect that you're getting sick before your symptoms show. You know how some people can smell sickness? It's like that with Shinnok. Thankfully, you don't have the waft of death he's so accustomed to being around. He's not worried about you dying from this. Still, he'd rather not his plaything be ill.
He's a bit confused on how you got sick in the first place though. He doesn't exactly take you outside once he's kidnapped you, and it's not like he's affected by any mortal disease so ???. It's especially puzzling if this happens while you're trapped in the amulet. At least in the cell you came into contact with demons who may have carried something.
Regardless, at this point Shinnok realizes his arsenal of healing magic is rather… Lacking. He's much more adept at rending flesh than mending it. But he's a skilled sorcerer so it takes him little time to learn a healing spell. A few test subjects later and he feels confident at curing your cold.
All this takes less than 24 hours for Shinnok to achieve. You're probably bed ridden at this point with all the chills/fever, coughing, and weakness. Speaking of beds, I think this is one of the few times he'll have you sleep in a bed rather than your cell. He wants you to recover after all. The only way you’re dying is by his hands and not some petty mortal disease.
His magic works better than any herbal healing or medicine tbh. One moment you're on death's door and the next you've completely recovered. No sign of illness anywhere in your body. Even though being Shinnok's darling is not desirable, it does come with a few benefits like this.
Raiden
Raiden doesn't know you're sick until the symptoms show. Might not discover your illness until 2-3 days of you being under the weather due to his busy schedule. He likely hears about your condition from a monk he's trusted to watch over you. Man immediately teleports to the Sky Temple to see how you're doing. He finds you laying in the bed barely able to move. Wearily, you greet him only to immediately fall into a coughing fit.
Unfortunately, he can't fry the disease out of you with his electricity. So, herbal healing it is! You drink more tea this week than you have your entire life. Seriously, you have to beg Raiden to stop because your stomach is about to burst. He does, only to immediately pursue some aromatherapy. Your room smells strongly of flowers and eucalyptus afterwards.
Would frequently check on you nearly every hour. If there's an extremely urgent matter that calls for his attention he'll leave his most trusted colleagues to look after you. Right after he's done with business he'll ask the person if your status has improved.
He's super mindful of making sure you don't get bed sores or any other complications from laying around all day. At the same time, he only wants you getting up to bathe or use the restroom. You're essentially stuck in one place until he can 100% guarantee you've recovered.
If your condition worsens he would hire a doctor to come see you. If the doctor suggests you go to a hospital, Raiden will take you there. I imagine the admission process would be a bit awkward though. He has no idea how all this works so you're left doing most of the speaking. You get admitted in though, and no his constant visiting doesn't stop even now. The hospital staff would likely have to kick him out.
Overall, he's praying that you'll make it through this.
Fujin
Well, Fujin actually lives among mortals so he has more knowledge on how to take care of you. Like Raiden, whenever he's on important business he hires someone to watch over you. I could see him having a phone unlike his brother. Definitely more hip with the times. Anyways, because of this he probably gets a worried text from your caretaker that you've fallen ill.
He arrives back home ASAP. Seeing you in this condition pulls at his heartstring the most. Out of everyone he's the most worried, as he's had his most favorite mortals pass away from illness. He wastes no time getting into Dr. Fujin mode.
He has you on a liquid diet until you heal. Tea, soup, broth -that's all you're eating for the next week. He’ll get whatever you need medicine wise. Got a headache or cramps? He'll get some painkillers pronto. Are you coughing with an irritated throat? Have some cough syrup/drops. He's very attentive in giving you a balance of home remedies and prescribed drugs.
It pains him every time you cough or groan in pain. He wants nothing more than to cure you right now. He hates seeing you suffer from illness. You can expect him to keep you company for as long as necessary. He'll also bring whatever entertainment you want, long as it isn't too expensive.
Again, if your conditions worsen he'll take you to a hospital. It's a smoother process getting in with him though. He also understands the concept of visiting hours, but best believe he's taking full advantage of them. He'll only leave your side if he has to and will be back the next morning.
Liu Kang
He doesn't have an ability to detect disease but he does have impeccable intuition. Something just changes about you before you fall ill. He's not even sure how he predicted it, but sure enough you're bedridden a few days after his spidey senses tingle.
He tries not to be too worried about your cold. He hasn't crafted your destiny to be one where you die from disease. But, there are some externalities even he can't control being Keeper of Time. So, it's off to the Wu Shi's medbay with you!
The Fire God checks up on you regularly, but not as often as Raiden or Fujin. It's not that he cares less, but rather he understands boundaries more. You don't need him breathing down your neck while you're recovering or sleeping. He makes an effort to see you every day though, giving you updates of what's going on at the academy.
If you're suffering from chills though at least you're in luck! He'll keep the room more than warm enough with his fire powers. It's like having a heated blanket around whenever he's in the medbay. At the same time, if you have a fever you may find his presence to be a little too warm.
I believe if you don't get better he'd take you to a sorcerer skilled in healing. Luckily, there's a whole multiverse at his disposal so it's extremely easy for him to find someone to cure you. You won't die under his care. You're far too precious for him to lose.
Cetrion
Can detect your sickness way before symptoms show. Honestly, you probably wouldn't even realize you're sick before her magic heals you. With her around you don't have to worry about such mortal afflictions.
If there was an illness that her powers couldn't heal… Well tbh you're probably going to die. But, I think it would leave her spiraling into a pit of worry beforehand. How did you get this disease? What can she do to help you? I think she'd try a lot of home remedies like the other characters here but doesn't have as much faith for it working. After all, no mortal medicine can surpass her powers as an Elder God.
If you pass away from this she'll likely just keep your soul in Heaven with her. If she's Keeper of Time she may just restart the Timeline. Although, I can't imagine it'd be too hard for her to just put your soul in a surrogate or artificial body. Regardless, she's not going to let an illness take you away from her. The consequences be damned.
Also, in a weird way I could see Cetrion getting you sick on purpose. Drugging whatever you eat/drink with just enough poison to make you lethargic and sleepy. Or manipulating the timeline so you're purposefully born with a weak body. It feeds her ego to take over a caregiver role for you. Having you completely dependent on her love and attention gives her a much needed dopamine boost. It's very unfortunate for you.
Overall… Probably the best person to have if you get sick. As long as she decides to heal you immediately of course.
Kronika
Is even more confused than her son about how you got sick. After all, she had you trapped in a pocket outside of time. Even if you caught a pathogen, it wouldn't be able to progress due to time being paused there. And not only that, you've been in there for far longer than the incubation time of any disease. Briefly, she wonders if your safety inside the bubble has been compromised. She dismisses that idea though. No… No one has the ability to tread that space without her permission. Not in her New Era.
Fortunately, she can just reverse the “age” of your body to before you got infected. She's reversed time on your body several times at this point, so she's not the least bit worried about doing so. A wave of her hands later and you're cured. And feeling a bit younger too.
Not much else to really say here. I doubt she would intentionally get you sick. Also with her being a Titan and succeeding against Liu Kang/Raiden in this timeline, the arc of history really does bend to her will. So basically -you're not getting sick on her watch.

(platonic) Shinnok’s Spawn! GN! Reader x Mk11 Mileena
Tumblr media Tumblr media
tw/cw: typical Mileena behavior of wanting to eat people, third person pov, uses you/yours, may be ooc considering i have a soft spot for Mileena 😔, a bit of more mk9 esque mileena bc i think mk11 Mileena isn’t exactly canon, sadly this fic doesn’t focus on the dynamics of reader and Mileena much, but I’ll work on it trust
note: for @thesilverymoonmaiden , I was intending on tagging you in the intro post including Mileena, but I decided to write a spin off fic bc why not, enjoy!
summary: You, Shinnok’s Spawn, casted away for your heritage you didn’t ask for. Mileena, the clone of Kitana Khan, and the supposed rightful heir of the throne of Outworld. Who knew you two were capable of being friends? Well, considering you were helping her overthrow Kitana, damn right you guys were.
Sounds of the Shaolin Monks passing by you send a brief shiver down your spine as you hear their loud voices echo through the confines of your mind. It reminded you too much of the times the Special Forces were trying to hunt you down.
Mileena watched the monks run past the door of the Sky Temple with a predatory glare, about to jump out and rip the guts out of the slowest, rookie monks lagging behind, when you placed a hand on her shoulder.
“No. We save strength for the final confrontation in case it comes to it, Mileena.”
Mileena was reluctant to heed you, the Tarkat instinct in her clawing at the surface to ignore your words and dash forward, but your calm, level-headed advice has always saved her ass multiple times, so she concedes, slipping back on her mask.
Silence befalls the temple as the sounds of the monks fade away into the distance as they miss you two, and Mileena nudges your elbow lightly, the two of you rushing soundlessly into the depths of the temple, her following your lead deeper to your goals.
You wouldn’t call this alliance between you two a friendship, per say. You’ve been betrayed, cast aside, and hunted for being the blood spawn of evil incarnate. While she, was a clone, with no sense of identity, and relies on her favoritism from Shao Khan to have a purpose. Both denied of family… and both who yearn for a shred of respect, and want revenge.
Finally, you two reach your goal. There it was, in all its glory, your creator’s amulet. Mileena’s eyes narrow in recognition as she stares at the gold circle, while you stare at the emerald that adorns the centre, feeling the subtle lull of its power, its enticing darkness, calling for you to hone, wield it.
A simple nod from you prompts Mileena to hurl her sais at the glass encasing Shinnok’s Amulet, you moving in sync to use your fire to heat the glass, watching the clear casing melt into thin shards as you set them down on the stone floor, walking forward and grabbing the amulet from its stand.
“This… feels almost too easy.”
Mileena rasps out, her eyes darting around restlessly, her hand finding the sai lodged into the wall behind the casing as she gave you a look, your eyes widening as you realise that one, she’s right, and two, there’s someone in the temple with you.
“NAME. Put down the amulet, its darkness will take ahold of you faster than you think.”
Your eyes narrow as you spin around, a violent snarl ripping from your throat, staring at the oh so wise face of the Thunder God, Raiden, your hands gripping the amulet with such force, that Mileena doesnt dare stand by your side for the fear of being at the receiving end of your wrath.
“Thunder God. Of course you’ve been watching us.”
You sneer, stepping forward as you crack your neck, glancing down at the god’s stance. The way he was wary of your fury, and yet, he didn’t seem to be ready to take you seriously was only serving to make you more pissed than ever.
He stepped forward, blue electricity crackling at his fingertips as he advanced towards you slowly, as if trying to tame a wild, feral animal, Mileena growling as she steps beside you, brandishing her two sais.
“You won’t stand in the way of our takeover, Thunder God!”
She snarled out, her raspy voice holding a strong amount of animosity and a surprising hint of care as she stands by your side. You gaze at the clone with a raised eyebrow, wondering whether that perhaps, the friendship that she claims she cherishes with you, maybe holds more water than you think.
You ignore the small smile that tried to creep up on your face, grabbing her shoulder as you shake your head, gazing at Raiden who was getting ready to send the first blow, giving the tarkaten princess a look that conveyed that ‘fuck no, you guys arent winning against a literal god.’
Without missing a beat, the two of you disappear in a fiery inferno as Raiden send a electric orb at you two, the teleporation spell sending you two tumbling into a bush, you groaning as Mileena helps you up, the two of you standing in silence.
“You will regain your throne, Mileena, with this amulet. I’ll help you control the power, unlike last time.”
A olive branch. Her response determines if her talk of you being her friend, the sibling she never had, was true, or it was like all the promises in your life, ones that crumble into ash like your life as you once knew it.
She stares at you with sharp eyes, nodding as she keeps her sais in her waist pouch, tilting her head, almost sensing your undercurrent of distrust as a small grin creeps up under her mask.
“I will hold you for your word, Earthrealmer. Perhaps I’ll make you my advisor when i regain my rightful place from Kitana.”
You raise a eyebrow, the small smile finally allowing itself to show. While you were helping her solely because you, by your standards, owed her a favor for saving you in Outworld a while back, your loyalty is only tied to those only you want to help, perhaps Mileena has earned your friendship.

Bi-Han and Sareena: An analysis and their future
I'm not good at analyzing characters or stories, but I didn't like what Netherealm did with these two over the years, so I decided to explore their relationship. Keep in mind that everything I'll say here is just my opinion, I ask that you respect my point of view.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PART ONE: THE DEMON AND HER "MESSIAH"
The first time we see Bi-Han and Sareena together is in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, also being the first Mortal Kombat game we saw Sareena. She is introduced as one of Quan Chi's demonic servants alongside Kia and Jataaka (in other words, they are slaves, but apparently, only Sareena wants to be free from Quan Chi's tyranny) while Bi-Han is on his journey to find Shinnok's amulet, the first interaction between them happens after Sareena and her sisters fight Bi-Han and lose. Bi-Han for some reason spares Sareena, I see this as an "act of pity", but calm down, I will explain starting with the story of Bi-Han.
Bi-Han has been seen as a villain for years thanks to his actions as Noob Saibot and the fact that he is a Lin Kuei, which was a clan of assassins and mercenaries, his current incarnation as a villain in Mortal Kombat 1 also doesn't help break this stereotype. But analyzing his character, he's not that bad. In the first timeline, he is the son of a Chinese man and an American woman, having a younger brother and a younger sister, being taken alongside his brother, Kuai Liang (or kidnapped alongside his brother, interpret it as you wish) by his father to China to serve in the Lin Kuei clan, abandoning the boys' mother and sister in America, So to begin with, he is not serving this mercenary clan because he wants to, but only because he has no choice, the Lin Kuei are also assassins, so for the safety of the clan, I imagine that anyone who tries to leave the clan ends up executed (I mean, If you watched Mortal Kombat: Legends, you know what happened to Kuai Liang and Smoke when they both tried to escape the cyber initiation, Kuai Liang escaped but Smoke was trapped and turned into a robot).
We also cannot forget that he was unfairly blamed for the Shirai Ryu massacre, even though he explained several times to Scorpion that it was Quan Chi, not him, who killed Hanzo's family, and what does he get in exchange for having only his word as proof of his innocence? Being killed by Scorpion and turned into a slave to Quan Chi, just as Sareena once was. Compared to real villains like Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung, Bi-Han doesn't seem to be as evil as the fandom thinks, he felt sorry for Sareena like any other human being with feelings would feel for an enslaved person (believe me, slavery happened here in my country in the past and to this day it is a sensitive subject even for non-black people) but getting back to the subject, Sareena doesn't want that life anymore and asks Bi-Han to take her to Earthrealm when he goes there, she doesn't even ask to live with him, just to help her get out of that literally hellish place, a bird wanting to be free from the cage.
This is the same arc as Ashrah in Mortal Kombat 1, a demon who has grown tired of the Netherealm and now wants a purpose in life, but before Bi-Han can say "yes" or "no", Shinnok attacks her and she falls into Bi-Han's arms, making us believe that she died (although it is later revealed that she survived, only losing her human form and being banished to the fifth plane of the Netherealm). A connection was created here, between a person and her "savior", she was defeated by that human, however, instead of running away to avoid being murdered, she simply asked him to help her get out of that place. After Sareena was trapped in the fifth plane for years, there was nothing Bi-Han could do for her, soon after he went to the tournament and everything we know happened.
PART TWO: DIFFERENT FATES
Sareena was trapped in the fifth plane for years, until she escaped through a portal created by Quan Chi and Scorpion, recovering her human form thanks to the energy generated by being in another realm. She meets Kuai Liang, who at this point is the new Sub-Zero and the new grandmaster of the Lin Kuei, who as a way of thanking her for the help that Sareena gave to Bi-Han in Mortal Kombat: Mythologies, grants her a place in the Lin Kuei, just as Ashrah went to the Wu Shi Academy in Mortal Kombat 1, the Lin Kuei became Sareena's new home.
In Armageddon, Kuai Liang wants to restore Noob Saibot and Smoke, who are fused, imagine that Sareena's wish is also to restore the one who helped her one day, Sareena helped Kuai Liang defend himself from Noob Saibot's attacks, ending up awakening her original demonic form. Kuai Liang does not recognize her and attacks her, abandoning her in the Netherealm, being found by Quan Chi later and manipulated into being his slave again, returning to the place she wanted so much to escape.
She was eventually freed from the spell that was mentally binding her by Taven, but like the rest of the characters, she was killed in the final fight at the pyramid. Her ending in Armageddon is "cute" to me, she ends up becoming a cryomancer, the connection she had with Bi-Han and Kuai Liang was so strong that it made her have the same superhuman abilities as them, a form of the gratitude she had for them.
Now speaking of Bi-Han, well, I imagine you already know what happened: He was transformed into a sort of ghost of darkness, having his mind manipulated by Quan Chi to become one of his evil agents. As mentioned, he somehow merges with Smoke while Kuai Liang tries to restore him. He also ends up dying in the pyramid by the way. And this is how their story ends :(
PART THREE: THEIR CURRENT SITUATION AND THEIR FUTURE
Sareena returns in Mortal Kombat X to help the Special Forces. In a fight against Kitana, things get interesting... Sareena claims that Bi-Han helped her, and she can do the same for Kitana. Kitana says that she got very close to Bi-Han (you can interpret this as Sareena becoming more human thanks to Bi-Han or Sareena actually fell in love with Bi-Han). In Mortal Kombat 11, at the end of Kabal, Sareena marries him and has two boys with him (don't ask, even I was confused). In a taunt round with Skarlet, Noob Saibot says that she reminds him of Sareena, showing that even after twenty-four years, he hasn't forgotten about her.
For me, it was always an implied romance, hidden feelings, I had hopes for the two of them when it was announced that Bi-Han and Sareena would be in Mortal Kombat 1 and would appear in the story mode, but Khaos Reigns destroyed everything! Bi-Han is transformed into Noob Saibot by Titan Havik, and sadly, him and Sektor (who is now a woman) are now a couple, probably since their teenage years, while Sareena is just a jobber in the story mode, but is later freed by Ashrah in her ending.
I believe there will be a Mortal Kombat 12 (after all, I've already lost hope for an Injustice 3, and we know which game makes more money between the two for Netherealm Studios) and while I and half the fandom agree that Mortal Kombat NEEDS a writers room, I still have hope for these two. Bi-Han apparently wants to continue as Noob Saibot, there's nothing stopping Quan Chi for having ambitions for him, and since Sareena is an enemy of her former master, they might meet again.
I like to imagine that Sareena would make him be "good", making him realize that he can be much more than the grandmaster of the Lin Kuei with fascist ideas, it doesn't even need to be a romance, just a friendship! But unfortunately Netherealm Studios doesn't listen to the fans (apart from the insufferable Mileena fanboys in MK11) so any chance they have of getting to know each other is minimal, even if they are as enemies since Sareena wants to train with the Shirai Ryu.

Mortal Kombat Odyssey Bio: Onaga
Tumblr media
In the ancient past of Outworld, the realm was divided into a various kingdoms, territories, townships, tribes, and communities.
The oldest of these, and for many centuries the most powerful, was the dragons. They were possibly the first sentient race to come about in the universe created from the defeat of the One Being, before even the humans who would go on to populate nearly every realm in some form or another. They were revered for their wisdom, their strength, and their majesty. And with their considerable army, they were virtually unchallenged.
With this power, respect, and seniority, the dragons of Outworld grew arrogant, believing that their position at the top of the food chain was secured, and their superiority self-evident. Even with the rise of the mighty kingdoms of the Shokan and Centaurs, it seemed that this would remain.
At this point, the latest of the Dragon Kings began to develop desires to expand his empire, and take all of Outworld under their banner. Cooler heads in his council were able to deter this ambition for a few thousand years, and Outworld remained in its status quo.
And then a child was born.
Two mere commoners in the Dragon Kingdom laid an egg which would hatch into the strangest dragon which had been seen in eons. He was… humanoid. Two arms, two legs, and while still towering like an elder Shokan, as he entered adulthood, he was smaller than many of the leviathans among the dragon race. A mutant.
His parents named him Onaga.
Onaga had a very difficult life as he entered the world. The other dragons found his mutation and appearance abhorrent, believing him to be hideous and even unworthy to be considered one of their kind. He was constantly berated and mocked, written off as an outcast and excluded at nearly every venue of life. Even his parents seemed ashamed of him, although they tried to keep up his self esteem in his youth.
This embittered Onaga over a period of centuries, causing him to hate those around him just as they hated him.
But there was something more than the pain of suffering this discrimination. Ever since he could remember, Onaga felt some kind of calling… a higher purpose. As if he was destined for some greatness. While the other dragons saw him as lesser, something told him that he was in fact a being most supreme.
He saw the universe before him and it was if he could bend it to his will…
Onaga’s arrogance allowed him to deflect many of the insults as he got older, and in the same span of time, he began to feel his own inner power grow. Something inside him that granted a might which the realms had never seen.
And one fateful day, it was time to let that power out.
Onaga suddenly snapped under the heckling of a group of his fellow dragons, killing them savagely. And he did not stop there.
As if all his rage had finally been unleashed, Onaga rampaged across the kingdom of the dragons, slaying all who stood in his path. Even his own parents fell victim to his staggering strength.
Entire armies were sent against him, and none of them were enough to stop his advance. Whatever innate power Onaga possessed was beyond them all.
Eventually, Onaga had single-handedly genocided almost the entirety of the dragon face of Outworld, reducing their once-great kingdom to ruin. His final foe was the king of their kind, who had his behind warriors for years and finally had nowhere else to run. Their battle was fierce, but Onaga ultimately succeeded, and laid claim to the title of Dragon King.
Onaga would not stop there, going across Outworld and exerting his might to encourage that all those in his path swore fealty to his burgeoning rule. Even the Protector God of Outworld, Shao Kahn, bent the knee to the Dragon King.
Within another century, Outworld had been reorganized into a unified militaristic empire under Onaga’s singular rule. Kingdoms which maintained their stature had become vassals and he had legions of loyal soldiers at his command which recognized his superior might or saw the opportunity to bring order to Outworld.
For several more millennia Onaga would reign unchallenged, using the intervening time to gain a mastery of several arts of sorcery, including a particular knack for resurrection magic, adding a force undead to his army that was fabled to be undefeatable, and which only grew with time.
He also gained a fascination with ancient legends, relics of potential use. The Amulet of Shinnok. The dark blade, the Ebbonrule. Remaining artifacts of the very dragon kingdom he had destroyed. All potential assets as Onaga began to grow in ambition beyond the bounds of Outworld…
Onaga envisioned a vast empire spanning the entire universe. All of existence beholden to his will. All he needed to do… was conquer.
The Dragon King sent forth his armies, commanded by undead generals and worshippers completely loyal to him, into other realms to seize them and allow him to merge these realms with Outworld. Among those conquests were the Kytinn home realm of Arnyek and the oceanic realm of Ebisu.
This merging of realms was an imminent threat to the relative peace the Elder Gods sought throughout the realms. If Onaga was not stopped, his expansionism risked reconstituting the One Being, and thus destroying the universe that the Elder Gods sought to protect, as well as resurrecting their greatest enemy.
Though still reluctant to interfere, they wished to put a stop to this expansion. Thus, the Elder Gods created the Mortal Kombat tournament. Onaga could no longer freely invade realms without incurring their wrath, and realms under threat had a means to defend themselves with minimal bloodshed.
Onaga was infuriated by this, quickly realizing that the Elder Gods were perhaps the greatest threat to the growth of his empire. He has always hated them, something inside him had always despised their arrogance and presumption to dictate the direction of the cosmos. They sat on thrones which Onaga felt rightfully belonged to him, and he would depose them through whatever means he could.
As the Dragon King regrouped his armies and reconsidered his options, he began to remember back to a story he had known since he was a boy, an unimaginable amount of time ago to most. No one had ever told him this story… at least not that he could remember, he just… knew it.
It was the story of the One Being, the Elder Gods’ battle with them, the creation of the universe
…and the advent of the Kamidogu.
Those artifacts had stayed in his mind for most of his life. He swore to himself that one day he would gather them all and unleash their power. That was his path to omnipotence and total dominion over all reality.
It was a goal his dreams of empire had blinded him to. Onaga realized that expansion through brute force was no longer necessary. If he could venture throughout the relams, or perhaps send agents to do so in his stead, he could gather the Kamidogu in time, without having to wage wars with other realms. Then he could lay siege to the Temple of Elements, claim the final piece, and unlock the secret required to unite these artifacts of the Elder Gods into one.
This however was one factor which his strange innate knowledge denied him… why? What force in the universe would grant him this knowledge of the ancients and forgo the final piece of it all. Perhaps something that had goals which did not align with his own?
Before Onaga could consider the matter of his mysterious benefactor further, he was assassinated at the hands of his advisor, Shao Kahn. The protector god poisoned a drink Onaga had been given, and laughed at him as he fell dead. Onaga damned him a coward as his body failed him.
His remaining loyalists were able to recover his corpse during the ensuing civil war for control of Outworld, taking it to a pyramid which would become known as the Lost Tomb, where powerful mystics among their number engaged a spell which caused the deaths of all present: a ritual suicide to join the ranks of Onaga’s undead army and serve him for eternity. Silent sentinels awaiting his inevitable return.
Shao Kahn succeeded in taking the throne of Outworld and began his own campaign to conquer and merge the realms, abiding the Elder Gods’ Mortal Kombat tournament for the time being.
But in his arrogance, Shao Kahn failed to truly understand the power wielded by Onaga. In his all his time of studying the mystic arts of life and death, Onaga had become virtually immortal. Death would not stop him.
His soul persisted, protected from the pull of any afterlife realm, and Onaga began to put a new plan in motion.
He commanded his mystic followers, the Lava Priests, to gather a stillborn dragon egg from the ruins of the dragon kingdom and construct a shrine around it. If necessary, the body within this egg would serve as Onaga’s new vessel in the living world when he decided to return. The Lava Priests were to stand guard of this shrine until their master’s resurrecifon, and for increased security, they conscripted a firespawn named Blaze using powerful mind control sorcery.
The second part of Onaga’s plan was to find a soul to serve as his agent in traveling across the realms and gathering the six Kamidogu so that he could seize them upon his return and begin his path to being utterly invincible. Onaga knew that this plan could take thousands of years, but despite his rage towards Shao Kahn, he was willing to be patient.
After thousands of years of searching, he honed his focus on Earthrealm, and in particular, a young boy seeking adventure…

Because I like feels - and creepy things - and pain, I guess. :D
Now I haven't seen any spoilers, and don't plan to (please don't post spoilers in the comments, I BEG you) until the game's release. I doubt this scene will take place at all but imagine if it DID. Human!Raiden seems so happy and proud... whereas he used to constantly fight his darkness before Liu Kang rebooted the timeline. We know some of the characters remember the events of past timeline(s). And if MK1 Raiden gets a glimpse of his past timelines at some point, how would he react to how he gave into the darkness? Or wearing Shinnok's amulet? Would he be horrified by the things he did? I thought it would be a very interesting concept to explore. >)

You were dating a god, Lord Raiden, he was a good man, serious but sweet, but that night everything changed.
You saw Raidem arrive, with different clothes and his previously white eyes now red with rays of the same color.
He went to the entrance of your house, putting his shoes outside still in silence.
"-Oh, hi my prince." -Raiden spoke calmly but coldly, colder than normal, now, he was no longer the kind god, he was extremely different.
Raiden's lips curled into a sinister smile as he noticed your curiosity. He approached you slowly, the dark aura emanating from him making your heart race. His voice was laced with an unsettling charm as he spoke. "-Ah, my love, you have a keen eye. Indeed, this is Shinnok's amulet. It holds immense power... power that I have fully embraced."
As he drew closer, you could feel the intensity of his presence, his hand reached out, his fingers gently brushing against your cheek. "-I have shed my former self, my dear. The righteousness that once defined me has been replaced by a darker desire. A desire for control, for dominance."
His touch sent shivers down your spine, a mixture of fear and excitement coursing through your veins. Raiden voice dropped to a low, seductive whisper: "-I have come to claim what is rightfully mine, to indulge in the pleasures that have long been denied to me. And you, my love, are at the center of it all."
Raiden's hand trailed down your neck, his touch igniting a fire within you. His eyes burned with a newfound intensity, their red glow piercing into your soul. "-Tonight, my love, we shall explore the depths of our darkest desires. I will show you pleasures beyond your wildest dreams, pleasures that only a god can provide."
His words feel a surge of anticipation through your body, your heart pounding in your chest. You surrendered yourself to his dark allure, knowing that this encounter would be unlike anything you had experienced before, with a wicked grin, Raiden led you towards the bedroom, ready to unleash the full extent of his newfound power and passion upon you.
Raiden's dark transformation unleashed a primal desire within him, and he wasted no time in taking control. When he threw you onto the couch, his dominance was palpable. Your body shuddered with anticipation as he parted your legs, his fingers teasingly brushing your clothed pussy, the fabric dampened under his touch, evidence of the desire pulsing through you.
With a wicked gleam in his eyes, Raiden presented his thick, throbbing cock to you, demanding your attention. His commanding presence overwhelmed you, and you eagerly obeyed, parting your lips to take him into your mouth, his taste, a mix of salt and musk, filled your senses, fueling the fire that burned inside you. Your tongue danced along his length, swirling around the sensitive head, eliciting a deep moan from Raiden, he reveled in the power he had over you, gripping your hair tighter as he guided your movements.
Each stroke of his mouth brought him closer to the edge, his cock growing harder and more deliciously swollen with each passing moment. As your greedily sucked and licked his cock, your own desire grew, your pussy throbbed with anticipation, the wetness between your legs soaked throuh your panties, aching to be touched and pleased, but Raiden had other plans, his focus solely on his own pleasure for now. Raiden's grip tightened on your hair as he thrust deeper into his mouth, establishing a rhythm that matched the intensity of his new power.
His mastery of touch and the strength of his movements brought you to the brink of ecstasy. The taste of his precum mixed with his saliva, coating your tongue with an intoxicating flavor. He pulled out of your mouth, a string of saliva connecting your lips to his cock. He looked at you with hunger in his eyes, his voice dripping with dominance: "-On your knees, my love. Present yourself to me." Without hesitation, you dropped to your knees, your heart pounding in your chest.
Raiden approached you, his hand caressing your cheek before going down your neck, putting his entire cock back down your throat, making you choke and tear, Raiden's fingers passed over your tears, then tested them with a sadistic smile. As the intensity increased, He could no longer contain himself. With a grunt of satisfaction, he released his hot load deep into your mouth, filling it with his essence, you swallowed hard, savoring every drop, savoring his pleasure. Raiden's eyes gleamed with a mix of desire and dominance as he saw the hunger in your eyes. He wasted no time in pushing you back onto the sofa, his hands gripping your hips with a firmness that left in the room for resistance. With a swift motion, he turns your panties off, exposing your wet and needy pussy to his hungry gauze.
"-You are nothing but a filthy, eager cunt, craving to be filled, you're just a dirty little boy with a tight pussy." -Raiden growled, his voice laced with a deliciously wicked tone. He positioned himself between your legs, the head of his cock brushing against your slick folds, teasing you mercilessly. Aching to be taken, you arched your back, silently begging for him to enter you.
Without further hesitation, Raiden slammed his cock deep inside you, filling you completely. A mixture of pleasure and pain coursed through your body as he pounded into you with an unrelenting force. Each thrust pushed you further into a state of raw ecstasy, the intensity of his dominance overwhelming your senses.
His grip on your hips tightened, leaving marks as he pulled you closer, urging you to take all of him, the sound of flesh slapping against flesh echoed in the room, punctuated by your moans of pleasure and his grunts of satisfaction. You could feel the power radiating from him with each powerful thrust, driving you to the brink of pleasure. "-You're so small and weak, I could easily destroy you, I'm going to mark that little pussy as mine, do you hear (Y/N)?"
As your bodies moved in perfect sync, the intensity escalated. Raiden's lips claimed yours, the taste of dominance and desire mingling on your tongues. His kisses were demanding, his teeth nipping at your lips, marking you as his own, the combined sensations of his cock deep inside you and his lips claiming yours sent you spiraling into a whirlwind of pleasure, you cried from the overstimulation of Raiden's hard cock hitting your uterus, making you tremble. "-Awww, is that the best you can do? Stupid hole, I’m gonna fuck you like the little slut you are.”
Raiden's pace quickened, his grip on your hips bruising as he chased his own release while pushing you towards the peak of ecstasy. "-You're so pathetic its adorable, whimpering on my dick like a cum-starved slut, is that all you’ve got? Pathetic slut."
With a final, powerful thrust, Raiden's cock pulsed inside you, his hot seed flooding your depths. The sensation of his release triggered your own orgasm, waves of pleasure crashing through your body, you cried out his name, surrendering yourself to the blissful chaos that engulfed you.
Collapsing onto the sofa, your bodies intertwined, you both lay there, basking in the aftermath of your passionate encounter. Raiden's gauze softened, his hand gently caressing your cheek. "-You have pleased me, my good boy." -He whispered, a hint of tenderness breaking through the dominant facade.

Wish I was more eloquent to make this post, but It continues to infuriate me how mortal kombat as a franchise has completely fumbled the bag on recognizing Bi-Han as the immense, gut wrenching point of tragedy that he should be.
By all accounts, he’s someone who's been denied any real semblance of meaningful choice throughout his entire life. He’s someone that was kidnapped as a child by what is ostensibly a cult, and made to do their bidding lest he be killed or worse. Then he’s murdered only to be denied freedom in death.
I think it’s in the original game’s endings where he mentions intending to leave, but then that brings to mind the question of why hasn't he done so sooner? He’s certainly capable enough to do so, even with the threat of being hunted down by the Lin Kuei for abandoning them. Did he stay for Kuai Liang? Could he even stomach the mere idea of leaving him behind? Was he afraid to risk his safety in either case; that he would die too if they left together, or that he’d be used as a bargaining chip to claw Bi-Han back if he went alone.
Do you think it ate at him knowing he was the only thing standing between Kuai Liang and the full brunt of the Lin Kuei’s manipulation and coercion? That for the longest time he was one of the only sources of genuine love and kindness in his life?
Do you think the Grandmaster held that over his head?
Maybe that’s why it was him chosen to retrieve the map of elements and later Shinnok’s amulet, he was the best they had because he couldn’t afford to not be.
And even then, when he did get a chance, and chose to do the right thing by stopping Shinnok and Quan Chi, he’s punished for it. A man already denied so much of his autonomy has it stripped further away until he’s nothing more than a mindless pawn. Further still, I have to wonder, was his line to Kuai Liang in mk9; that they share blood, but are not brothers, another layer of Quan Chi’s twisting of his mind to his own means—to drive a wedge between him the brother he held on for, the one person he knew truly cared—to twist the knife further for daring to delay his and Shinnok’s plans? Noob Saibot’s too cartoonish, often too over the top, practically intoxicated in how evil he is (or at least that's how his writing comes off) to be a genuine expression of Bi-Han. I wonder if some semblance of him remains trapped and vaguely conscious under that dark veneer, forced to watch himself lose what little he had left.
And even if he had survived, then what? He likely would’ve been cyberized as well, probably even killed like nearly everyone else in mk9, and turned into one of Quan Chi’s undead lackeys anyhow. It’s as if fate (doylist: I know it’s the writers…) won’t let him simply be… him.
I’d bet that when Kuai Liang remade the Lin Kuei after destroying the cyber initiative, he wanted it to be something that—if he could be so fortunate as to have his brother back—was kind enough for Bi-Han to truly call home.

HOW TO MAKE SHINNOK'S DEFEAT MAKE SENSE IN MKX
Tumblr media
One main criticism of MKX story was the finale - when Cassie Cage defeats Shinnok, beats him up, knocks him down, while he is in his superpowered form, fueled by Jinsei itself, while Cassie herself is someone who albeit powerful, should not be a match for Shinnok.
Why did it happen then?
I discovered it some years ago, that in MKX story mode the number of fights are to the perfection - everyone in their respective chapters has 4 fights, which consist of 2-round scheme, there is no jobber (more than 2 fights lost) and there is no anti-jobber (no fights lost), no character has more than one chapter, all of above were cases in MK9 and Injustice 1. So, according to that format, Cassie Cage defeating Shinnok makes perfect sense. But according to the lore, it's just wrong.
They are not fighting in the tournament setting - where gods need to have human form in order to compete. Shinnok is not defeated like in arcade mode where you take his amulet and he explodes - which would actually be very clever, instead Cassie serves him a beatdown - which is in a contrast to Johnny Cage just giving Raiden the amulet and him finishing the job. Also, she does it totally alone - Kung Jin is not present in fight in any form, as well as Takeda and Jacqui Briggs, so in the way, she steals the victory from other Kombat Kids, making her exceptionally mighty, compared to the rest. So, what could be done about it?
Make her blessed by Elder Gods (if she fights him alone)
Honestly, that would be near perfect lore wise - Elder Gods were often accused of doing nothing, especially in MKX, where they do literally nothing, and the stakes are too high for them to ignore, much higher than in MK9, where they actually blessed Raiden. If Cassie came to battle Shinnok in her blessed form, from 5 Elder Gods, it would surely be used as an equilibrium to Shinnok's might in his powered up form.
2. All Kombat Kids defeat Shinnok
Worse lore wise, but considering that
Kung Jin is descendant of the Great Kung Lao
Takeda is a Shirai Ryu master
As for Jacqui I am not sure but I bet she could be in the same tier as them
You could have all four using *the power of love and friendship* and them being capable warriors as well (let me remind you that Liu Kang was 24 when he defeated Shang Tsung and not much older when he defeated Shao Kahn), but as I say, it's still flawed lore wise, as Shinnok is still a Fallen Elder God powered by Jinsei
3. Cassie just takes the amulet from Shinnok's body and he explodes like in Arcade Mode lmao
Still not perfect, but much preferable to a massive beatdown he got. It could be explained that she was fighting for her life and she is such a risk-taker just like Johnny Cage that she just in one last desperate attempt grabs the amulet and without it Shinnok is unable to contain Jinsei's power. Cassie could die in the explosion, making her a martyr and not a Mary Sue (almost) character
4. Cassie is paired up with Raiden to defeat Shinnok
Raiden already beat Shinnok once. He can do it again. Even though he was weakened, he could still be paired up with GREEN ENERGY WHICH WHACKS GODS Cassie and just have him beaten up.
I am not sure which option is the best, I would say option no. 1.
Also shout out to @cienie-isengardu, I bet you will like the theme of the post
