I have been asked on Instagram to share Alaa Darwish's story, and since I don't use Instagram much anymore I am sharing their story here.
"Alaa Darwish and his family of 9 (mother and father, 5 sisters, wife, and 2-month-old baby daughter) have lost everything in the attacks on Gaza. Previously living east of Deir al-Balah, their homes were destroyed by the Israeli occupation, leaving them shelterless and devastated.
Alaa’s 2-month-old daughter has only known war since her birth and now has no home. Alaa’s baby and wife are currently staying with his mother-in-law, attempting to find a safe place among so much daily horror, and sadly are now separated from Alaa. Alaa’s parents also suffer from chronic illnesses (diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol), which are harder and harder to manage with increased scarcity of food, clean water, and medicine. With constant attacks and limited aid entering Gaza, everything is extremely expensive right now, from food to rent/housing. Alaa’s situation becomes more difficult by the day, and with colder months approaching, he is very concerned about shelter, safety, and being able to afford survival essentials.
In Alaa’s own words, “Every day I go somewhere to try to adapt, but it's harder than I imagined. I wanted to build a tent to live in, but unfortunately, the situation is very difficult. I don't know what to say. Life has exhausted me. It's really a bad feeling. It's much worse than I imagined. It's a bad feeling to ask someone for help, but unfortunately there's nothing I can do about it.”
There are only 19 donations currently and only $585 dollars raised out of $30,000. If you are able to donate then I beg that you do, and if not then please spread the campaign around.

Never ending story
My Masterlist
Summary: After an accident something happened to you…and the accident was in 1913.
Warnings: accident, character death, brief alcohol drinking, smut, p in v sex, protected sex (i feel like it’s the first time I’m writing a smut with protection lord help me), brief handjob, light fingering, do I need to add anything more?
A/N: Jesus a one shot after such a long time omg I’m actually nervous. 😅 I recommend the movie „Age of Adaline”…it’s pretty much what happens in this oneshot too and it’s also a good movie:) the accident description is from the movie:) thank you @rogersbarber and @jamneuromain for proofreading
Steve and reader have an age gap here, with her being older but let's be honest considering he is like a 100 later on the 8 years difference don’t change a thing😂 besides I’ve probably messed up the ages and many things since it was hard to keep up😂
The story is not 100% accurate with the CA:FA movie.
Accidents often affect people’s life’s, not just from injuries but also because of the aftermath.
Yet you never expect your accident to change your life so dramatically.
In 1913, on your way to your parents house something highly unusual occurred, something almost magical... snow fell in Sonoma County, California.
Distracted from the road by the snow you lost control of your car, driving from the bridge right into a river.
The immersion in the frigid water caused your body to go into an anoxic reflex, instantly stopping your breathing and slowing your heartbeat. Within 2 minutes,
Your core temperature had dropped to 87 degrees... her heart stopped beating.
Then, a bolt of lightning struck the vehicle discharging half a billion volts of electricity producing 60,000 amperes of current.
Its effect was threefold.
First, the charge defibrillated your heart.
Second,
You were jolted out of yoir anoxic state causing you to draw your first breath in 2 minutes.
Third, based on Von Lehman's principle of electron compression in deoxyribonucleic acid, which will be discovered in the year two thousand thirty-five, y/n y/sn will henceforth be immune to the ravages of time...
At first you had never noticed it, but after over ten years you noticed something different-or rather nothing. Not a single wrinkle, not even a little change in your face nor body. Everyday was the same.
You were 36.
Yet you looked 25. Not a day older.
And people started to notice it, especially when you started to look very similar to your daughter. When she was 17, but both of you looked like sisters.
Even your husband noticed the lack of differences in your appearance. Luckily soon after he was drafted-of course it broke your heart to see him go, but considering your other problem, it was easier to think of a solution.
Moving. Running away.
So when the question started, you had to move, not expecting this would be your future from now on.
During the war it wasn’t hard to lay down, especially since everyone tried to do so, most people helped each other, while others just avoided most people.
A sigh escaped your lips as you walked around the World Exposition of Tomorrow, many people, not knowing you, nor your daughter. It was her birthday and you both decided to spend it somewhere special.
After getting some snacks you wanted to go to the front to watch the presentation of the new ‚flying car’. „I’ll go powder my nose, Y/N”, your daughter informed you. Y/N. She had stopped calling you ‘mom’ when she was 15. Sometimes, at home, but rarely. Especially now that you looked so close to the same age. You were 24 years older but…it didn’t look this way.
„Watch out-“, You called after a man that had hit your shoulder, making your purse drop, a couple of things falling out.
When you wanted to bend down someone was already holding up your purse.
His soft blue eyes looked you over once, before stopping to meet your gaze. „Ma’am, your purse”, said the gentleman, still holding the purse with a shaky hand. „Thank you, Sir”, you smiled at the young man.
He was slightly shorter, especially with the shoes you were wearing, giving you two or so inches more. His hair blond, looking soft but frail, like his frame. The jacket hanging rather loose around his shoulders, the pants held up by a belt tightly buckled around his slim hips, you could see there was an extra hole made for the belt to fit him.
„I’m…I’m Steve Rogers”, said the young man, holding out his hand. You shook it, introducing yourself to him, but just then your daughter walked back up to you.
When Steve’s friend walked up to you two, with two other dames who seemed to be rather interested in the friend himself than Steve, but that was the cue for you to go.
Besides, why were you even interested in spending time with this man? You were a married woman-and older. It might not look like that but you definitely were older than him by a couple of years.
Yet a bit of fantasizing wasn’t a crime, right? His blue eyes were probably the prettiest thing you’ve seen in a while.
During the expo you saw Steve a few more times, small smiles and gazes were exchanged before you had to leave, not expecting to ever see that man again.
Two years later you had to move again after the police accused you of having forged documents and a false ID.
But you were alone this time.
Your daughter had a husband, only married for a few months but she decided to stay with him-which you understood.
Nevertheless it didn’t break your heart any less. Especially since you knew your husband was also dead, after receiving the condolences letter.
That’s how you found yourself sitting at the small bar in Italy, a completely new country where nobody was looking for you. Briefly you’ve heard about the Captain America creation and other things, but you weren’t too interested in it, not with the heartbreak after being completely alone.
Heartbroken and alone.
Funny enough Steve felt the same way, walking into the bar, sulking and making his shoulders as small as possible, not wanting the attention of other people.
He really thought Peggy might like him-but he got it all wrong, she was seeing someone and just moments after this information he also found out Bucky's unit was missing.
Tomorrow he planned to look for them, waiting for Stark to arrange everything needed.
But tonight.
Tonight he was alone and heartbroken.
Steve wasn’t that type to flirt with random women or ‚hook up’, but tonight…he just wanted to be someone else, not the heartbroken little boy from Brooklyn, even though usually he’d be proud to be that.
But he felt like he let his friend down.
The woman he fell in love embarrassed him, which wouldn’t be the first time but it felt worse than ever before.
„Whisky”, he ordered, sitting next to you, making you lift your head at the slightly familiar voice. It’s like you’ve heard him before-but you shook it off for now.
Sipping on your cocktail, your gaze was glued to the many pictures at the wall, people smiling at the camera, while others looked away or at their friends.
The man next to you cleared his throat. „How…how is your evening ma’am?”, when you looked over at the man, your voice seemed to be stuck in your throat. He was handsome, yes, but it wasn’t what made your breath hitch. It’s his eyes. The blue eyes that you were never able to forget.
„Steve”, you said quietly, a sad smile creeping on your face as you looked at him over again. He furrowed his eyebrows a bit, before sighing. “Yeah, it’s me, Steve Rogers, the captain-“‘“wait, no Steve it’s…I mean, yeah, I’ve heard about it but I didn’t know it was you but-yeah, I can see the change”, you chuckled, placing your hand on his bicep and squeezing, before pulling away. That felt quite rude.
“We met years ago…At the…the world exposition of tomorrow-about the future flying car? You were-well, smaller-and with a friend, I was there with my da-“, you cleared your throat. “-dearest friend.”
It didn’t take long for him to remember the time you two met. After some catching up you ordered yourself another drink, Steve got another one too.
Minutes turned to hours…
“…I’m moving a bit around. I lost my husband-the war took him….”
“….Bucky was drafted…his unit…”
“….Buck always said I was stubborn and would either get enlisted or died trying, since I surely wouldn’t stop or…”
“….I wish we could just have a quiet life without wars…”
“..I remember when I was a kid…”
“…There was a time when I….”
The conversation kept going, skipping from one topping to the other, first the usual talk about what was going on, then sharing some memories and comforting words.
When the barkeeper informed you it was already time to close the place, you looked down at the drink you were still sipping. It was still the second one you had ordered, mostly untouched.
Steve helped you put on your jacket, you knew you didn’t want the evening to end.
Without saying a word you just wrapped your hand around his arm, walking with him along the streets, only a few minutes before entering your apartment building.
Steve followed. He wanted to be with you that night. He wanted to feel you close. He wanted to feel…needed….loved…cared after…
He wanted to forget about all the horrors around him.
So did you.
When entering the small apartment you took off your shoes and jacket, Steve hanging up his own and yours, before looking back at you, a nervous smile creeping on his lips.
“I don’t….usually do such things”, he started, making you take his hands. “Me neither Steve”, whispering you let your hands roam to his neck, slowly pulling him down as he placed his hands on your waist to pull you closer as you kissed.
Gentle, yet passionate. So full of…feelings. You couldn’t call it love but…but it was still close to it. It was shared pain.
And you knew the line between love and pain was so small it barely made a difference.
A quiet gasp escaped your lips when Steve wrapped his hands around the back of your thighs and lifted you onto his hips. “Where is the bedroom-“ “the couch is fine”, but Steve only clicked his tongue.
“I don’t…I don’t want it to…be rushed and meaningless”, he mumbled against your lips, making you smile a little. Not that you thought about it…you didn’t want to rush it yourself.
So you told him where to go, before being placed onto the bed, Steve carefully climbing over you, kissing your neck.
Slowly he undressed you, making sure to kiss every inch of your skin he uncovered. Your shoulders, your arms, hands…your stomach…before having you only in your underwear.
“You…you’re beautiful”, he whispered, before slowly taking the rest of your clothes off. A blush crept on your cheeks when you felt his eyes on your body, especially with him being still dressed. “Steve, come on let me help you with those…”, you chuckled, making him also smile a bit, as he sat back and started unbuttoning his shirt, revealing the white, tight undershirt beneath it.
A grin crept on your lips, sitting up, you let your hands roam over his chest and arm, before quickly grabbing the undershirt and pulling over his head. Your lips find its way to his neck, down to his pecks, making him moan quietly and letting you push him down onto the bed.
Now it was your turn to leave kisses along his body, lowering yourself till you were level with his zipper, opening it. Steve helped you push down his pants and underwear, his cock immediately slapping against his abdomen, hard and leaking.
Before you could get your mouth on him he pulled you up and once again on your back, his hands once again all over your body, spreading your legs apart, as he sat back on his heels and looked at you, especially your crotch. “You look so good…”, he mumbled, gently sliding his fingers through your wet folds.
A soft moan escaped your lips as Steve slowly pushed two of his fingers into your wet hole, wettly squelching as he pulled out again, watching his finger being covered in wetness.
You let your head drop into your neck, moaning quietly with every time he pushed his fingers back in. “Steve…I need you…”, you gasped.
It immediately made Steve’s heartbeat quicken to hear those words, hovering over you and reaching into his pants pocket, pulling out a metal condom tin and opening it, taking the condom out. “Already prepared?” “The captain has to be responsible”, Steve smirked teasingly.
You felt yourself blush at that, rolling your eyes with a grin on your lips.
Then, you watched as Steve slowly put the condom on, stroking his dick a few times, before letting it slide between your folds, brushing over your clit. You weren’t sure if he was purposefully teasing you or just doing it to…well, considering his grin he was doing it on purpose.
“Steve please-“, before you could finish, Steve leaned back down again, kissing you passionately, as he slowly pushed his cock into your pussy. A quiet and slightly surprised gasp escaped your lips, the stretch feeling more than expected.
You wrapped your arms tightly around his neck, one hand buried in his hair, while he was covering you with his wide frame-which didn’t feel intimidating in any way- it was rather comforting. Feeling his warmth and the weight of his body made you feel like you were in the right place.
The rest of the night was spent in a tight embrace, skin to skin, soft pleas and moans reaching your ears and the smell of sex lingered in the air.
When the sun started to rise you fell asleep in Steve’s arms, after having spent the best evening you could imagine together.
You woke up to a kiss on your temple and a soft whisper, “I hope we see each other soon.”
But you didn’t.
After saving Bucky and his unit Steve had many other missions following, which he had written about in a letter. One letter, with a lot of explaining and apologies and…an invitation for a date, after he’d be back.
But this also never came. You waited months. Years.
And then he flew the plane into the ocean, falling to his death.
Only then did one thing occur to you.
Were you able to die? Or specifically, from old age? If you’d ever meet a man, would you be able to spend your life with him? The idea of falling in love and watching your partner die broke your heart-you had already buried your husband, then Steve died and…oh god, you would watch your own child die.
Once again you got yourself a whisky, this time just at home not wanting to meet any new people, especially since that was how you had found Steve again. You swore you’d never get close to another person again, never get your feelings involved in something. There was a voice at the back of your head, it had been there for some time now, that always reminded you of Steve but now…you knew you needed to forget about him,
….definitely not expecting to ever see him ever again.
The years passed by, every ten years you moved, illegally bought a new passport, ID…a whole new life, whole new person. You wrote letters with your daughter, meeting up with her twice a year on your and her birthday.
You watched her age.
You watched her birth children.
You watched them grow up.
And you watched your daughter die.
At the age of 86 in 1998.
While you still haven’t changed since 1913.
Her funeral was beautiful. Many people were there-even though nobody knew you-or at least not as who you were. A family's friend. Her nurse. Kid from a friend…many different ways. But not as her mom. Her mom went missing in 1943, during the war, probably killed…yeah, that was the story people knew.
So you continued living, year after year.
Until 2012 arrived.
Two unexpected things happened.
An alien attacked you.
And you saw those beautiful blue eyes again.

Pas kwam na maanden een boek binnen: 'To Hold Your Heart In Your Teeth – The Visual Language of the Romanian Blouse' van Simona Bortiş-Schultz.

The haunted train of Schwenksville
After dark every Halloween since living social in Perkiomen Valley
for seven long years, a shrill whistle train whistle (often compared to the sound of a bird's call, particularly a large bird like a hawk or a crane, due to its piercing, high-pitched and long-lasting whistle-like quality) soundcloud heard
from afar clear as a bell, yet nary a train present since locomotives stopped running through Schwenksville, Pennsylvania valley in 1976, when Pennsylvania Railroad gave up its rail assets to Consolidated Rail Corporation (Conrail). However, some passenger "rambles" took place from Reading to Schwenksville in the late 1960s.
Matter of fact beginning at the junction of the Schuylkill River Trail in Oaks, the trail uses much of the former rail bed of the Perkiomen Line of the Reading Railroad. The Perkiomen Trail
created in 2003, often called, the “Perky”, the trail rolls down the valley of Perkiomen Creek, which may have been a reference by local American Indians to the surrounding cranberry bogs. The northern end of the trail begins at Morrow Pavilion in Green Lane Park, where trail users can find parking and restrooms. The 20-mile Perkiomen Trail follows the route of the Perkiomen Creek from Oaks to Green Lane Borough. It connects to the Schuylkill River Trail and the Audubon Loop. For most of its length, the "Perky," known by many, uses the former rail bed (as iterated earlier) of the Perkiomen Line of the Reading Railroad. Every other time of year outer limits of the twilight zone spread dark shadows, which creep along the edge of night startling a driver unexpectedly yet instinctually to veer away from harm's way courtesy a nocturnal creature, now ghost rail activity heard to scare
the living daylights out of atheists like myself, who quickly utter a prayer
immediately afraid then jubilant, cuz prevarication (housed within a ghastly fashion) my métier,
which brilliant notion sparked immediately, née instantaneously after discerning unquestionable choo-choo within a kiloampere,
a unit of measurement equal to one thousand amperes. An ampere is defined
as the amount of current that flows through a conductor when one coulomb of charge passes through it in one second.

The name Eridan was given by Tenebrais. His name may be derived from the river Eridanos, which was poured onto the Earth by Aquarius in Greek myth, or may derived from the constellation Eridanus. Alternatively, Eridan may have been based off of the user Terin's name for Alternia, which was Eridani. This is also the name of a star in the Aquarius constellation [citation needed]. His first name read backwards is Nadire; a nadir is a lowest point, or a point of greatest adversity or despair. However, this could be a coincidence.
Ampora is likely derived from the amphora, a type of Greek vessel for carrying liquids which is often seen in depictions of Aquarius. Ampora means protection [citation needed] which could be ironic, considering he does the exact opposite. Ampora could come from ampere (the base unit of electric current in the International System of Units), since the energy he can create with his wand has a resemblence to electricity. Taking the first syllable of his first name and the last syllable of his last name gives Eri Pora which sounds somewhat like "Harry Potter", although that could be coincidence. Eridan also resembles the word eradicate, possibly referencing his genocidal tendencies. He presumably took his Trollian handle from Troll Caligula.
Eridan wields Ahab's Crosshairs, a lightning gun he found in a ghost ship along with Vriska's Fluorite Octet. The very first thing he was seen doing was using the gun to kill a flying whale . He did this to feed Feferi's lusus, in order to keep its voice down.
Eridan is an especially powerful and influential member of the nautical aristocracy that wants one of Vriska's doomsday devices , apparently intended to kill all land dwellers.
Being introduced last along with Feferi, Eridan appeared the least out of the twelve trolls during Hivebent and currently has the least number of appearances for a troll character overall. He was the only troll whose planet was not properly introduced, and he was also initially not given a mythological role, an exclusion he shared only with Gamzee.
Upon arriving on his planet, the Land of Wrath and Angels, Eridan began slaughtering the inhabiting angels . He found the angels were difficult to kill, requiring at least a minute of constant fire from Ahab's Crosshairs. The angels were not intended to be his enemies, though it is unknown what purpose they were meant to serve. However, according to Doc Scratch, they had some role in granting Eridan his deadly “wwhite science” powers. Sollux, possibly prematurely showing some access to his abilities as the Mage of Doom, talks about an angel as “2ome terriible mythiical demon. wiith the2e awful feathery wiing2. paradox 2pace u2e2 them two u2her iin the end.”
Whilst hiding in the lab from with the other trolls, he comes to the conclusion that there is no hope left and informs both Feferi and Sollux of his plans to join Jack Noir. Feferi refuses an invitation to join him, and Sollux decides that he has to stop Eridan and challenges him to another duel. Sollux's eye beams are no match for Eridan's magic science wand and he is knocked out . When Feferi attacks Eridan in retaliation, he kills her .
Kanaya looks on in horror at the murder and starts to go for her weapon, while Eridan holds his wand at the ready. When Kanaya hesitates because of the Matriorb next to her, Eridan obliterates it (destroying the hope of troll re-population, which is appropriate, given his mythological role) and then kills Kanaya when she attacks him. Eridan absconds from the room through the transportaliser as Karkat stares in disbelief at the carnage. Kanaya, after returning from the dead, finds Eridan along with Gamzee and Vriska in a 3x showdown . She promptly disables the latter two, "debunks " Eridan's wand, and pulls out her chainsaw, sawing him in half .
A ghost Eridan is later seen in the Ministrife flash lamenting his tragic situation. Cronus, his dancestor, flirts with him and asks him out, which Eridan agrees to, but not before expressing his disdain for him.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR HOME WIRING: AN INTRODUCTORY GUIDE
If you’re a homeowner, you might agree that having a basic understanding of your home’s electrical system can be very helpful. It can not only help you solve minor electrical problems without needing to call a professional, but it also empowers you to have informed discussions with electricians when you do need to hire one.
In today’s blog post, I’m going to give you an introductory guide to understanding your home wiring. I want to help you unravel the maze of wires that run behind your walls, delivering power to all parts of your home. This guide aims to break down some of the complexities of home electrical systems into manageable pieces of information that you can easily digest and apply.
Electricity Basics
Electricity can seem like a mysterious force, but in reality, it’s based on some fundamental principles. When we talk about electricity, there are three key terms you need to know: current, voltage, and resistance.
Current, measured in amperes or “amps”, is the flow of electric charge. Imagine it as a river of electrons flowing through a wire.
Voltage, measured in volts, is the force that pushes the current through the wires. It’s akin to the water pressure in a pipe.
Resistance, measured in ohms, is anything that resists or hinders the flow of electric current. Just as rocks in a river slow down the water, various factors in a wire can resist the flow of current.
In our homes, we use alternating current (AC) as opposed to direct current (DC). Without getting too technical, AC is the type of electrical current that changes direction periodically, and it’s more efficient for transmitting electricity over long distances, which is why power companies use it.
Your home wiring system is like the invisible powerhouse, operating behind the scenes to light up your home, power your devices, and make everyday life convenient and comfortable. The key components in this system are circuit breakers, outlets, switches, and light fixtures. Let’s briefly understand each of them.
Circuit Breakers: These are your first line of defense against electrical accidents. Installed in your home’s electrical panel, circuit breakers monitor the amount of electricity flowing through each circuit. If there’s an overload, the circuit breaker trips and cuts off the power, preventing potential fire hazards.
Outlets: Outlets, or sockets, are the points at which you plug in all your electrical appliances and devices. They’re directly connected to the home’s wiring system and allow for the transfer of electricity from the wiring to your devices.
Switches: A switch is a simple device that allows you to control the flow of electricity. When you turn on a light switch, for instance, you’re closing the electrical circuit and allowing electricity to flow to the light bulb.
Light Fixtures: These are devices that house light bulbs and connect them to the electrical system.
Now let’s talk a bit about the wires themselves. Typically, you’ll find wires in three colors: black, white, and green (or bare copper). Black wires are usually “hot”, meaning they carry the electric current. White wires are “neutral”, completing the electrical circuit by providing a return path for the current. Green wires, or bare copper wires, are “ground” wires, providing a safe route for electricity in case of a fault.
The Wiring Layout
Many of you readers are from the United Kingdom so let’s use London as an example home. In a typical London home’s electrical system, the wiring layout is divided into numerous circuits, each dedicated to serving a particular area or a specific set of appliances. Let’s discuss this a bit more.
Firstly, your house has a main electrical panel, also known as a breaker box. This is the central hub where power from the utility company enters your home and is then distributed to various circuits. This panel is often located in a utility room, garage, or basement.
Inside this panel, you’ll find a series of circuit breakers or fuses. Each one controls the power flow to a different area or appliance in your home. A circuit, in the simplest terms, is a closed loop of wires that electricity travels along. It starts at the electrical panel, runs out to provide power to various outlets, switches, or directly to appliances, and then returns to the panel.
A closer look at your panel will reveal labels next to each breaker. These labels typically indicate which area or appliance the circuit serves. For instance, you might have separate circuits for the kitchen, bedrooms, living room, and outdoor areas. Some high-energy appliances like your electric oven, air conditioner, or water heater, often have dedicated circuits just for them. This separation allows each part of your home to have access to the amount of electricity it needs without overloading the system.
The wiring associated with each circuit is run through the walls, floors, or ceilings of your home. These wires, as we discussed earlier, come in three colors: black (hot), white (neutral), and green or bare copper (ground). The black hot wire carries electricity from the panel to the outlets and switches. The white neutral wire carries the current back to the panel, and the green or bare copper ground wire provides a safe route for electricity in case of an electrical fault.
Understanding your home’s wiring layout is important because it can help you make sense of how power is distributed throughout your home. It can also aid you in planning for any home renovation projects, or even just for troubleshooting when a problem arises.
Safety Measures in Home Wiring
When dealing with home electrical systems, safety should always be the top priority. Even with a basic understanding of home wiring, it’s important to approach any electrical project with caution. Here are some essential safety tips:
Switch Off the Power: Before starting any electrical work, even something as small as changing a light bulb, always make sure the power is switched off. This can usually be done at the main electrical panel by switching off the circuit breaker corresponding to the area you’ll be working on.
Use Insulated Tools: If you’re doing any work that involves contact with electrical wires or components, use tools with insulated handles. These are designed to protect you from accidental electric shocks.
Never Touch Wires Directly: It’s crucial to avoid direct contact with wires unless absolutely necessary. Even with the power off, treat every wire as though it’s live.
Wear Protective Gear: Always wear protective gear like gloves and safety glasses when dealing with electrical work.
Understand Wire Colour Coding: As we’ve discussed earlier, understanding wire colours can help you identify the function of each wire, reducing the risk of accidents.
Remember, these are just basic safety measures. For any substantial electrical work, it’s always best to call a professional. They have the right training and equipment to handle the job safely and effectively.
So, when should you tackle a job yourself, and when should you call in the pros?
There’s a certain sense of accomplishment in being able to handle minor electrical tasks around your home. But it’s important to know your limits and when to call in professional help.
Tasks like replacing a light bulb, resetting a tripped breaker, or even swapping out a light switch or outlet, can usually be handled by a homeowner with a basic understanding of electricity. But for anything more complicated or if you feel unsure at any point, don’t hesitate to call a professional.
Why call a professional? Well, professionals are trained and equipped to handle electrical work safely and correctly. They understand the local electrical codes and their work will be in compliance with these regulations.
In addition, professionals can identify and fix not only the problem at hand but can also spot potential issues that may not be apparent to the untrained eye. Their work often comes with a guarantee, providing peace of mind that the job has been done right.
So, while it’s valuable to understand your home’s electrical system and handle minor tasks, it’s equally important to know when to call in the professionals. After all, when it comes to electricity, safety should always be your top priority.
Conclusion
In this blog post, we’ve shed light on the basics of home wiring, the key components of your home’s electrical system, the meaning of different wire colors, and the layout of a typical home wiring system, specifically looking at London homes. We’ve also stressed the importance of safety when dealing with electrical systems and discussed when it’s wise to call in professionals.
I hope that this guide has given you a better understanding of your home’s electrical system and empowered you with the knowledge to handle minor electrical issues confidently and safely.
Be safe, be smart, and when in doubt, call a professional.

[ID: A section from Markus Zusak's The Book Thief. The text reads:
The Gamblers (A Seven-sided Dice)
Of course, I'm being rude. I'm spoiling the ending, not only of the entire book, but of this particular piece of it. I have given you two events in advance, because I don't have much interest in building mystery. Mystery bores me. It chores me. I know what happens and so do you. It's the machinations that wheel us there that aggravate, perplex, interest and astound me.
There are many things to think of.
There is much story.
Certainly, there's a book called The Whistler which we really need to discuss, along with exactly how it came to be floating down the Amper River in the time leading up to Christmas 1941. We should deal with all of that first, don't you think?
End ID.]
Every time I hear anybody talking about spoilers, I am rereading this page on the inside of my brain. There's wanting to preserve a spoiler because you want to preserve the emotional impact of encountering a certain story/character beat for the first time, that's fair, but some people talk like revealing ANYTHING will completely ruin a story and render it unenjoyable. Well, if it does, you've told a shitty story. I've read The Book Thief a dozen times, I know what happens, and it makes me cry every time, because it's a good fucking story, well told. It was the first time I read it, and it will be the hundredth time.
A good story is still good when you know what's going to happen; the best stories are even better when you know what's going to happen, and your familiarity with the whole tapestry allows you to appreciate the finer details in the weave.

Magnets from Lightning
One of the first steps Senku takes to make sulfa drugs for Ruri is to generate electricity using strong magnets. Senku and the gang used the magnetic rocks that Chrome had found in order to collect iron sand, but these magnets aren’t strong enough to generate the electricity that Senku needs.
This post is pretty dang long because magnets and magnetism are So Much, so the rest is under the cut.
For strong magnets, made in Ch 24-25, Senku references the work done by NASA scientist Peter Wasilewski, who conducted experiments on creating magnets with lightning. These experiments were conducted in areas of the USA with lots of lightning activity, like in New Mexico.
(They spelled his name wrong in the translation haha)
Lodestones
You’ve probably heard of these before, the naturally occurring magnets often used in ancient times for early navigation. They were also used in Dr. Stone to collect iron sand from the river. Lodestones are made of a mineral called magnetite, which is made of iron and oxygen (Fe3O4) and is the most magnetic of all naturally occurring minerals on earth. However, while ordinary magnetite is attracted to magnets due to being full of iron, it doesn’t usually get magnetized itself due to its low magnetic coercivity (how well it can stay magnetized).
There’s actually another mineral found in lodestones called maghemite (cubic Fe2O3) along with other impurities of metal ions. The maghemite hecks up the crystalline structure of magnetite so that its magnetic coercivity is high enough to stay magnetized and become a permanent magnet.
So where does lightning come into play? Well, how do these rocks get magnetized in the first place? Permanent magnets are made when an object gets exposed to an external magnetic field and then stays magnetized. The Earth’s magnetic field isn’t strong enough to magnetize a lodestone on its own, and lodestones are found at the Earth’s surface, usually in high and exposed places, rather than anywhere deep underground, so the leading theory is that these rocks become magnetized after being struck by lightning bolts, which have strong magnetic fields surrounding them.
Wasilewski’s Lightning Experiments
Wasilewski found evidence of this theory by experimenting with zapping rocks with lightning. It’s a little similar to the story of how Ben Franklin drew lightning by flying a kite out in a storm with a metal key attached, but instead of a kite and key, Wasilewski used a small rocket attached to a long (like 3 miles long) metal wire. The other end of the wire was attached to a box with a sample of unmagnetized magnetite inside.
When the rock was struck (I’m assuming the rocket attracted lightning and got hit, and all the electricity from the lightning flowed through the wire to the box), it was exposed to the lightning bolt’s strong magnetic field, and when the lightning and its field went away, some residual magnetism, or remanent magnetization, was left in the rock, enough to pick up some paperclips at least.
Back to Magnets
What makes something magnetic? The answer takes you down into subatomic space with electrons and their “spin”. An electron’s spin can only be in one of two states: its magnetic field pointing either “up” or “down”. The way the electrons spin is the main source of ferromagnetism (the kind we’re dealing with right now). When enough electrons have their spins pointing in the same direction, and more than the number of electrons spinning the other way, this adds up to a larger magnetic field. Iron is one of the elements that has enough electrons spinning one way than the other, so it’s attracted to magnets and can also be magnetized.
(There’s some more complicated stuff about electrons and magnetism, but this post is already getting super long so we’re skipping that.)
Copper Wire
So what’s the copper wire for? Copper is a nonmagnetic metal, so why does Senku wrap the iron in it?
I haven’t found any direct answers to this question yet, but my best guess is that Senku is making use of Ampere’s Law, Faraday’s Law of Induction, and/or Lenz’s Law so that the magnets will be polarized properly. This is based on how, when Kohaku held the magnets such that they repelled each other, the coil marks on the bars were going the same direction.
And when the magnets attracted each other, the coils were going in opposite directions.
Ampere’s law describes how a magnetic field can be created inside a coil of wire when the wire has a current running through it. The magnetic field inside the coil would go in one direction, depending on the direction of the current through the coil. This is how electromagnets work. The electric current for Senku’s copper coil probably came from the lightning, and the lacquer coating the iron bar would probably then be to insulate the bar from the coil so that the current would only run through the coil. The iron bar inside the coil would then be exposed to a magnetic field that, along with the lightning’s own magnetic field, would be enough to magnetize the iron bar.
Faraday’s law has to do with how changes to the magnetic environment of a coil can induce a voltage (and thus produce electricity) in the coil. Both the iron bar and the wire were exposed to the lightning bolt’s magnetic field, and there would definitely be a couple big changes to the magnetic environment of the wire with how lightning comes and goes in a literal flash. The induced current from the lightning’s magnetic field could also contribute to the stuff in the previous paragraph.
Lenz’s law determines the direction or polarity of the induced current in the coil, from Faraday’s law. Whatever direction the change in the magnetic field that induced the current was going, the current will run so that the magnetic field inside the coil will go the opposite direction. For example, if you push the north end of a magnet into a coil of wire, then the magnetic field in the coil produced by the induced current in the wire will point out of the coil, in the opposite direction that the magnet is moving.
(Image from the hyperphysics link in the sources. For directiony things, magnetic fields “flow” from north to south.)
(Additionally, I think this law is also related to the remanent magnetization of the iron bar after getting zapped. The magnetic field of the iron bar would then be opposite of the field that magnetized it. I’m only about 80% sure though, since I can’t find where in my sources I might’ve read this. But it makes sense with conservation of energy and stuff, right?)
Combining all this together probably adds up to establishing polarity in the iron bar, and the handy marks from the coil would indicate which way the poles are facing.
As for the actual use of copper, copper material gets really funky around changing magnetic fields. While copper on its own isn’t magnetic, it can become temporarily magnetized in little sections, via electrical eddy currents, close to where a magnetic field is passing by or otherwise changing. You can see this when dropping a magnet down a copper tube, where the magnet falls in slow motion as the induced magnetic field from the copper tries to repel the magnet and its descent. Maybe this is important for magnets, too.
If you made it all the way to the end, 10 billion points to you! It is 1am and I do not want to think about electricity and magnetism anymore, so this post won’t be proofread as much as the previous posts have been.
If you have any questions or want further elaboration or clarification on anything in this post, or if you found any errors in my explanation, please feel free send me an ask! The next post in the sulfa drugs series will be on generating electricity with these magnets! :’)

Of Handbooks and Hobbits
From Love is… (FLUFF-uary 2020). Part of the Beer and Benefits series.
(prompts #2 - acts of devotion and #25 - snuggling)
He wasn't cold; ghouls don't get cold. Still, he was miserable.
The rain had caught him completely by surprise as he made the trek from Bunker Hill back to the House, loaded down with supplies. If he would have known the weather would turn so quickly, he would have sent Sebastian instead.
At least his pack was waterproof, keeping the foodstuffs safe. His road leathers wouldn't be so lucky, as old as they were. And of course, they'd be little better than raw hide when they dried again. He really didn't relish the chore of stretching them back out.
Worse than rain, rheumatism, and drenched clothes, this would mean Nora would be delayed coming home, too. She never minded the weather, but it always brought mirelurks up from the river. The Minutemen patrols kept troubles with the raider gangs and super mutants mostly under control nowadays, but nature was still nature.
As if to give proof to his musings, there was a distant flash of lightning and a clap of thunder.
A storm, then.
Damn, he just wanted to be home with his wife.
If there was any bright side to be had, it was that he made it home and inside before the rain really started coming down in sheets.
"Welcome home, sir! May I take your things?"
Deegan stifled a frustrated groan at the Mr. Handy as he unshouldered his pack to place it on the outstretched pincher arm. It was better than the biting impatience that the robot butler used to have, but Sebastian's bright and bubbly personality was starting to really grate on his nerves. He would have to ask Nora to maybe tone it down before she had to leave next time.
Opening the flap with a second arm as the third held out a towel, Sebastian cheerfully continued, "Ah, I see Sir managed to find some good produce this outing. Very fine looking carrots. Madam will be most pleased. I shall prepare these for dinner tonight."
Dropping his armor in a heap and taking the towel, Deegan gave a dismissive wave. "Don't bother. She won't be home tonight with this storm."
One eyestalk turned toward him, shutter half-closed, and Deegan could have sworn it was a look of smugness. "Oh, but you are incorrect, sir. Madam got home a little over an hour ago. She's relaxing upstairs."
"And you didn't think to tell me?" he demanded, incredulous.
Definitely smug. "You didn't ask, sir."
Grabbing the Mr. Handy by the dome and shaking him would have wasted time he could be upstairs already, so Deegan quelled the urge. He did, however, launch the used towel at him as he took the stairs up two at a time.
The door was ajar, but he gave a soft knock before pushing it open -- even here, wasteland instincts involved loaded guns on the bedside table.
She was laying across the bed on her stomach, almost naked except for her panties, and propped up on her elbows with a thick book opened between them. She smiled as she looked up at him, a curl falling over her forehead with the motion.
The smile faltered as she got a good look at him. She glanced out the window as she pushed off the bed, seemingly only noticing the rain just then. "My poor darling," she said, voice soothing. She stepped quickly, detouring to the en-suite for another towel, before coming to wrap it around his shoulders.
He let her fuss; he liked the attention. "I was afraid you'd get caught out in this and not make in home tonight," he confessed, bending slightly so she could pull his cap off. That it gave him a very nice view of her bare chest was a happy coincidence.
"I saw it coming on the horizon and knew I should leave early to race it home." She opened his jacket and pushed it off, hands going to the hem of his undershirt. "As it was, I still got caught in a little of it. Not as much as you, though," she noted as she peeled the half-soaked garment off of him.
Free of it, he finally reached for her, pulling her up into a slow, deep kiss. She felt so nice against him, so soft and smooth. Any other time, he'd be carrying her back to the bed, but the ache of his old bones held him back from anything more.
She dropped down to flat feet, lightly pushing against his chest with both hands. Her look was knowing. "You'll feel better after a hot shower, darling." Because of course she knew.
"You've only just got back--" he started in protest.
"And I'll be right here when you get out." She bodily turned him and gave a gentle shove. "Go on."
Despite wanting to get it done and over with quickly, he didn't rush. She had been right, as always; the heat of the water alleviated the pain and stiffness in his joints. Ghoulism slowed aging, but two hundred and fifty years still took its toll on a body.
When he came back out of the en-suite, he found that she had moved positions to lay on her side of the bed, propped on both of their pillows against the headboard. The golden glow of the lamp across her skin made for an inviting picture as she continued to read from the large book.
And what was to stop him from accepting that invitation?
She went to close the book, but he shook his head. "No, don't let me interrupt you," he murmured as he climbed into the bed. He shifted lower so that he could lay with his head against her chest, comfortably tucked between her breasts, arms under her back and across her thighs. He was glad that they had removed the footboard when she'd moved in, saving his ankles -- and now his shins -- hanging off the end.
He let out a contented sigh, closing his eyes.
Then he smiled as she sighed as well. "I like this." She ran the back of her fingers of her free hand along his jaw.
He heard her turn a page. "So, what are you reading?"
"American Electricians' Handbook, Thirty-first Edition."
He snorted softly, remembering her complaints about one of her settlements' generators giving her problems. Admirable work ethic, but she needed to relax more. Those farmers had handled themselves well enough before the luxury of electrical power, and they would continue to handle themselves all right long enough for her to take a break.
He made a mental note to look around later for some of Emogene's novels to give to Nora. He seemed to remember seeing a copy of The Hobbit on one of the bookshelves downstairs, centuries old, but still in good shape.
For now, he turned his head, eyes still closed, to kiss her stomach before snuggling in closer. "Sounds interesting. Read to me?"
She chuckled. "This? Really?"
"Please?" He didn't care what it was, he wanted to hear her voice.
It was just a bonus hearing the smile in it.
"Four hundred, sixty-one. Current-carrying capacities of flashers. Double-pole flashers are made in four sizes that will carry respectively fifteen, thirty, forty-five, or sixty amperes per switch. Single-pole carbon--"

The 7 Wonders of the Nature
The Aurora Borealus or Norhten lights
The northern Lights are one of the most beautiful phenomena in both science and nature According to how stuff works The Northern Lights occur asthe electrons enter the earth's upper atmosphere, they will encounter atoms of oxygen and nitrogen at altitudes from 20 to 200 miles above the earth's surface. The color of the aurora depends on which atom is struck, and the altitude of the meeting.
Green - oxygen, up to 150 miles in altitude
Red - oxygen, above 150 miles in altitude
Blue - nitrogen, up to 60 miles in altitude
Purple/violet - nitrogen, above 60 miles in altitude
All of the magnetic and electrical forces react with one another in constantly shifting combinations. These shifts and flows can be seen as the auroras "dance," moving along with the atmospheric currents that can reach 20,000,000 amperes at 50,000 volts. (In contrast, the circuit breakers in your home will disengage when current flow exceeds 15-30 amperes at 120 volts.) The auroras generally occur along the "auroral ovals," which center on the magnetic poles (not the geographic poles) and roughly correspond with the Arctic and Antarctic circles. There are times, though, when the lights are.farther south, usually when there are a lot of sunspots. Sunspot activity follows an 11-year cycle.
The Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon located in Arizona is truly a spectacular sight. It's hard to look at the canyon and not be curious about geology. Rock that dates back 1.8 billion years lies at the bottom. Exactly how the river formed the canyon is still unclear, but geologists generally agree that most of the cutting occurred within the last five million years.
The Great Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier reef is the largest living organism in the world and cover an area almost twice the size of Italy. The reef can be seen from outer space. Thirty species of whales, dolphins, and porpoises and 17 species of sea snake have been recorded in the Great Barrier Reef.
Harbor at Rio
The Rio de Janeiro Harbor is regarded as one of the most intriguing of the Seven natural wonders of the world. The reason for this is that it plays tricks on the eye to all that behold it, sometimes looking like the mouth of a river and at other times looking like a beautiful lake. Indeed, the Harbor of Rio de Janeiro is like no other and is simply a naturally formed harbor. This is why it deserves its place on the list of the Natural wonders of our world.
Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls also known as Mosi-oa-Tunya 'The Smoke that Thunders' - forms the largest curtain of falling water on the planet and is one of the world's greatest natural spectacles and a must see when on safari in AfricaVictoria Falls waterfall is on the Zambezi River, bordering Zambia and Zimbabwe in Africa One can view the falls face on (mostly from the Zimbabwe side), as facing the falls is another sheer wall of basalt, rising to the same height and capped by a mist-soaked rainforestIn Nov 1855 the falls were made known to the outside world by David Livingstone and the town in Zambia was named after him
Mount Paricutin
The story of Paricutin is a fascinating one. From flat ground, the volcano grew to a height of 1100 feet in just one year! Paricutin is part of a large volcanic field that covers much of west central Mexico, but Paricutin is unique due to the fact that it formed such a short time ago.
Mount Everest
Mt Everest is a really really big mountain in nepal in fact it is the biggest in the world. Its safest year was 1998 when out of 126 people that tried to climb it only 8 died, she stands at 29000ft.
Roraima
Serving as inspiration for Sir Author Conan Doyels The Lost World T. Roramia is truly worth honorable mention as a wonder of the natural world. Mount Roraima is also home to angel falls (click the picture for a complementary photo of angel falls) a waterfall that in itself is worth the journey. Mount Roraima is the highest of the Pakaraima mountain chain in South America. The 31 square kilometer summit area of Mount Roraima is defined by 400 meter tall cliffs on all sides and includes the borders of Brazil, Venezuela, and Guyana. The tabletop mountains of the Pakaraima’s are considered some of the oldest geological formations on Earth, dating back to some two billion years ago. The result is the staggering landscape of Mount Roriama The top of Roraima is so high and isolated that much like Austrailia or Madagascar their are species of animals that can be found no where eles on earth and because of the remoteness of the area many of those species have yet to be identified, Truly a lost world.
