With (credible) rumors about tumblr soon selling its data to midjourney for AI training, it truly is a peculiar situation for everyone on this website.
Personally, it's a choice between yeeting all my art off the platform à la twitter or keep it, but with some asterisks attached for the future.
For one deleting it all won't actually delete the post (and thus art) itself, due to how tumblr works. Even now glazing everything in post is useless, because edits don't carry over in existing reblogs.
So deleting the blog is mostly off the table.
But what now?
It's a bit hard to say for me. As I do have some attachment to this hellsite. That's why even when I was mostly on twitter, I kept being somewhat active here
But as time goes one, the good will I had keeps getting stretched and now this is the final straw for me.
Obviously, going forward, every picture on this blog will be glazed, nightshaded when the webversion is out. Sadly, I think this also means the update frequency will decrease a lot, as glazing will add a not insignificant amount of time to the posting process.
I'll also start using tumblr less, either migrating to other websites like bluesky etc. or just become less active on social media as a whole. I'll still be in the qijiu week discord though, so you can find me and my scattered art there too.
Otherwise, when I remember, I post occasional stuff on ko-fi as well.(even have a sorted gallery of sorts, so it's a nice place to have things sorted)
I'll link all those places below.
Anyway I thank everyone who has read so far and the support I got on tumblr. bluesky (x) non BL bluesky (x) QiJiu Week Server (x) ko-fi (x)

Hoping the sign police will be over now, Harry said he's ok with it. It doesn't make him less gay, but that was not a closeting move. Hopefully the fantasy boyfriend fans stay when he's lost his hair in 5 years. But maybe he's ok with that too, so good for him anyway.
Good for him is a great response to all this anon.
So much of the sign policing was based on the idea that people knew what Harry was thinking and feeling. I would hope that it's possible that this will challenge that a little bit, but I'm not particularly optimistic.
Harry hasn't said that he's OK with the signs, but he has said that he's singing about women's pussys. And as I've said before, I think an argument that says a man can talk about women's bodies to a wide audience, but women can't talk about their bodies, is hard to make unless you want to uphold existing power dynamics between women and men.
As for it being a closeting move - I think it's a little bit more complicated than that. I don't think what he said in the audience right now was a closeting move. I don't even think writing the song was exactly a closeting move - I think it's useful to be more specific than that. This song was made to service the fantasy boyfriend audience. Harry knew what he was doing when he was writing and presenting the song. There may be other meanings, other things going on, but the surface level is intentional. I think to call it closeting is rather limiting, because it's aiming (and succeeded at) doing so much more than that.

idk if owl actually makes the ow team (not blizz, ow team) money cause like. they have to pay all the players and the castors, they have to pay for all the resources like electricity and workers who make the streams happen, among so many other things. and then there's the activition/blizz ceos who want a few billions of the revenue in their pockets too. like what im getting at is that owl probably funds itself but it probably doesn't do much to fund the team who're actually working on the game
i dont know shit about how economics work or how OWL would get them money so i cant say if its a waste of money or not- i do know last year owl was MASSIVELY popular, i never got into it because... idk. i never get into that sorta hting
i mean, its ok. i just wish they had also paid attention to the actual game and not just the event of the game :/

Is it ADHD or Human Nature?
Puryear’s Principle of Human Nature #2:
Once we find something that helps us  cope with a problem, we will quit doing it.
And this does apply to me.  Oh, my.
The Index Card System for ADHD
I was doing great with my index card system, but gradually I let it slip.  I started putting every new task, or even ideas or phone numbers, on the red to do card, which is supposed to only have 5 things on it – the list of 5.  It was easiest to just pull out the red card, write on it and move on.  Bad.
A New ADHD Strategy
Once I realized this  wasn’t going well, I changed,  But I didn’t go back to the old way, using the yellow index card for new things and then putting them onto the red card or others as appropriate.
Instead, now I use a yellow sticky note on the inside cover of my appointment book.  It is much easier to pull  out the big appointment book than to search for the yellow card among all the other cards in my pocket.  And it’s easier to change it for a new one than it was with the yellow card.
How ADHD Works
With ADHD, we get bored easily and we get our focus center gets turned on by novel things.  So maybe after we’ve done something for a while, we need to change it.  Even if it has become a habit, although I hope that’s not true.   So maybe it’s ADHD, or maybe it’s just Puryear’s principle number two.
More on this next time.  Or soon.  Maybe.

ADHD Questions O the Day:
Can you contribute an example of this phenomenon?
How could you use this ADHD strategy with technology instead of index cards?
Irrelevant ADHD Comments O the Day:
Just for fun, I put ADHD into each heading. More instances of ADHD in a post are supposed to make it come up earlier on google if someone googles ADHD.  Who knows?
I don’t really know if that’s principle number two or one or three.  With my ADHD I can’t keep the numbers straight.

The ADHD Creative Mind
Where am I now?
ADHD can make the simplest htings difficult.
Its not ADHD, he’s just being a normal kid – in detention, expelled, flunking, ostracized, etc.

Stages of Production
In filmmaking and video production, pre-production formally begins once a project has been greenlit. At this stage, finalizing preparations for production go into effect. Financing will generally be confirmed and many of the key elements such as principal cast members, director and cinematographer are set. By the end of pre-production, the screenplay is usually finalized and satisfactory to all the financiers and other stakeholders.
Pre-production
During pre-production, the script is broken down into individual scenes storyboards and all the locations, props, cast members, costumes, special effects and visual effects are identified. An extremely detailed schedule is produced and arrangements are made for the necessary elements to be available to the film-makers at the appropriate times. Sets are constructed, the crew is hired, financial arrangements are put in place and a start date for the beginning of principal photography is set. At some point in pre-production there will be a read-through of the script which is usually attended by all cast members with speaking parts, the director, all heads of departments, financiers, producers, and publicists.
Even though the writer may still be working on it, the screenplay is generally page-locked and scene-numbered at the beginning of pre-production to avoid confusion. This means that even though additions and deletions may still be made, any particular scene will always fall on the same page and have the same scene number.
In pre-production, every step of actually creating the film is carefully designed and planned. The production company is created and a production office established. The film is pre-visualized by the director, and may be storyboarded with the help of illustrators and concept artists. A production budget is drawn up to plan expenditures for the film. For major productions, insurance is procured to protect against accidents.
The nature of the film, and the budget, determine the size and type of crew used during filmmaking. Many Hollywood blockbusters employ a cast and crew of hundreds, while a low-budget, independent film may be made by a skeleton crew of eight or nine (or fewer). These are typical crew positions:
·          Storyboard artist: creates visual images to help the director and production designer communicate their ideas to the production team.
·          Director: is primarily responsible for the storytelling, creative decisions and acting of the film.
·          Assistant director (AD): manages the shooting schedule and logistics of the production, among other tasks. There are several types of AD, each with different responsibilities.
·          Film producer: hires the film's crew.
·          Unit production manager: manages the production budget and production schedule. They also report, on behalf of the production office, to the studio executives or financiers of the film.
·          Location manager: finds and manages film locations. Nearly all pictures feature segments that are shot in the controllable environment of a studio sound stage, while outdoor sequences call for filming on location.
·          Production designer: the one who creates the visual conception of the film, working with the art director, who manages the art department, which makes production sets.[2]
·          Costume designer: creates the clothing for the characters in the film working closely with the actors, as well as other departments.
·          Makeup and hair designer: works closely with the costume designer in order to create a certain look for a character.
·         Casting director: finds actors to fill the parts in the script. This normally requires that actors audition.
·                                             Choreographer: creates and coordinates the movement and dance - typically for musicals. Some films also credit a fight choreographer.
·                     Director of photography (DP): the head of the photography of the entire film, supervises all cinematographers and Camera Operators.
·                     Production sound mixer: the head of the sound department during the production stage of filmmaking. They record and mix the audio on set - dialogue, presence and sound effects in mono and ambience in stereo.[3][4] They work with the boom operator, Director, DA, DP, and First AD.
·                                             Sound designer: creates the aural conception of the film,[2] working with the supervising sound editor. On Bollywood-style Indian productions the sound designer plays the role of a director of audiography.[5]
·                                             Composer: creates new music for the film. (usually not until post-production)
Production
·         See also: Cinematography, Audiography, and Principal photography
·         In production, the video production/film is created and shot. More crew will be recruited at this stage, such as the property master, script supervisor, assistant directors, stills photographer, picture editor, and sound editors. These are just the most common roles in filmmaking; the production office will be free to create any unique blend of roles to suit the various responsibilities possible during the production of a film.
·         A typical day's shooting begins with the crew arriving on the set/location by their call time. Actors usually have their own separate call times. Since set construction, dressing and lighting can take many hours or even days, they are often set up in advance. The grip, electric and production design crews are typically a step ahead of the camera and sound departments: for efficiency's sake, while a scene is being filmed, they are already preparing the next one.
·         While the crew prepare their equipment, the actors are wardrobed in their costumes and attend the hair and make-up departments. The actors rehearse the script and blocking with the director, and the camera and sound crews rehearse with them and make final tweaks. Finally, the action is shot in as many takes as the director wishes. Most American productions follow a specific procedure:
·         The assistant director (AD) calls "picture is up!" to inform everyone that a take is about to be recorded, and then "quiet, everyone!" Once everyone is ready to shoot, the AD calls "roll sound" (if the take involves sound), and the production sound mixer will start their equipment, record a verbal slate of the take's information, and announce "sound speed", or just "speed", when they are ready. The AD follows with "roll camera", answered by "speed!" by the camera operator once the camera is recording. The clapper, who is already in front of the camera with the clapperboard, calls "marker!" and slaps it shut. If the take involves extras or background action, the AD will cue them ("action background!"), and last is the director, telling the actors "action!". The AD may echo "action" louder on large sets.
·         A take is over when the director calls "cut!", and camera and sound stop recording. The script supervisor will note any continuity issues and the sound and camera teams log technical notes for the take on their respective report sheets. If the director decides additional takes are required, the whole process repeats. Once satisfied, the crew moves on to the next camera angle or "setup," until the whole scene is "covered." When shooting is finished for the scene, the assistant director declares a "wrap" or "moving on," and the crew will "strike," or dismantle, the set for that scene.
·         At the end of the day, the director approves the next day's shooting schedule and a daily progress report is sent to the production office. This includes the report sheets from continuity, sound, and camera teams. Call sheets are distributed to the cast and crew to tell them when and where to turn up the next shooting day. Later on, the director, producer, other department heads, and, sometimes, the cast, may gather to watch that day or yesterday's footage, called dailies, and review their work.
·         With workdays often lasting 14 or 18 hours in remote locations, film production tends to create a team spirit. When the entire film is in the can, or in the completion of the production phase, it is customary for the production office to arrange a wrap party, to thank all the cast and crew for their efforts.
·         For the production phase on live-action films, synchronizing work schedules of key cast and crew members is very important, since for many scenes, several cast members and most of the crew must be physically present at the same place at the same time (and bankable stars may need to rush from one project to another). Animated films have different workflow at the production phase, in that voice talent can record their takes in the recording studio at different times and may not see one another until the film's premiere, while most physical live-action tasks are either unnecessary or are simulated by various types of animators.
 Post-production
·         Here the video/film is assembled by the video/film editor. The shot film material is edited. The production sound (dialogue) is also edited; music tracks and songs are composed and recorded if a film is sought to have a score; sound effects are designed and recorded. Any computer-graphic visual effects are digitally added. Finally, all sound elements are mixed into "stems", which are then married to picture, and the film is fully completed ("locked").
 ·         Distribution
·         Main articles: Film distribution and Film promotion
·         This is the final stage, where the film is released to cinemas or, occasionally, directly to consumer media (DVD, VCD, VHS, Blu-ray) or direct download from a digital media provider. The film is duplicated as required (either onto film or hard disk drives) and distributed to cinemas for exhibition (screening). Press kits, posters, and other advertising materials are published, and the film is advertised and promoted. A B-roll clip may be released to the press based on raw footage shot for a "making of" documentary, which may include making-of clips as well as on-set interviews.
·         Film distributors usually release a film with a launch party, a red-carpet premiere, press releases, interviews with the press, press preview screenings, and film festival screenings. Most films are also promoted with their own special website separate from those of the production company or distributor. For major films, key personnel are often contractually required to participate in promotional tours in which they appear at premieres and festivals, and sit for interviews with many TV, print, and online journalists. The largest productions may require more than one promotional tour, in order to rejuvenate audience demand at each release window.
·         Since the advent of home video in the early 1980s, most major films have followed a pattern of having several distinct release windows. A film may first be released to a few select cinemas, or if it tests well enough, may go directly into wide release. Next, it is released, normally at different times several weeks (or months) apart, into different market segments like rental, retail, pay-per-view, in-flight entertainment, cable, satellite, or free-to-air broadcast television. The distribution rights for the film are also usually sold for worldwide distribution. The distributor and the production company share profits.

I’m sorry as an American I cannot fathom refusing to vote for Biden. HOW. Think of the Supreme Court! If Trump is re-elected we can kiss Roe v Wade goodbye and god only knows what else. Biden isn’t ideal but how can one throw a vote away on a third party when we have a deranged monster as the only other viable option 😭😭
So this debate is going to get very tedious over the next six months and there is absolutely no way I would be prepared to engage with it regularly even without Coronavirus.  But I know I’m going to see a lot of posts across my dash that treat concerns about sexual violence, the murder of half a million Iraqis, and the incarceration , as somehow special pleading.  These posts won’t make any effort to persuade - instead they will castigate, guilt trip or order people what to do.  Such posts are anti-democratic in form and in content and also wildly ineffective and I figure now is the time to make my position clear.
Ordering, castigating and guilt tripping is an anti-democratic way of responding to someone not voting how you want them to vote. Treating a particular way of voting as illegitimate - as you do with your talk of other people ‘throwing their vote away’ is anti-democratic. Democracy is about accepting that people have different views and changing their mind.  Not about stamping your foot and thinking that everyone should do what you say.
That’s the form - but the content of what you say is also profoundly anti-democratic for two reasons.  First, is it is predicated on erasing how undemocratic American elections are.  You don’t know where the OP lives - a lot of Americans live in places where them deciding to vote for Biden won’t make any difference to how Trump lives. I have never understood why Americans are so invested in denying the fundamentally undemocratic nature of their voting system, but it’ll never get through my inbox without comment.
Secondly, there’s an attitude to voting, which seems strongest among American liberals, but you do see elsewhere, which basically thinks its appropriate to blame people for how they voted (but not oddly whether they voted, because this system often pretends non voters don’t exist - another hting I don’t understand).  As if the problem is the public has let down the politicians and not the other way round.  The contempt for the public in this world view seems anti-thetical to the public. Politicians should have to earn people’s vote and not voting for people you hate is part of the process. Surely it’s better to blame the Democratic Party for putting forward a rapist than voters for whom ‘not a rapist’ is a bottom line.
On top of all of those principled objections - I also just think that these sorts of posts are wildly ineffective if their purpose is changing people’s mind (which I don’t think they are - I think they’re just an expression of a desire to be able to control other people - but often there’s at least some pretense that that’s the purpose). Changing people’s minds requires engaging with their concerns, and not telling them that blue is green  (which is why the refusal to add ‘if you add in a swing state’ to these posts really does my head in.  People in New York, California, Alaska and Mississippi, who refuse to vote for imperialist rapists know how the system works.  If you want to persuade people in Pennsylvania that there are good reasons to suck it up then speak to the situation that they’re actually in). It requires making a positive case that speaks to people’s concerns - rather than expecting ‘because I say so’ to be reason enough. Respect people and respect the importance of democracy as a process - and if you’re not prepared to do that, then my inbox is not the place for your American election thoughts.
