bit for amnesia!dabi:
Dabi, slamming into the dining room: "Why the FUCK did I just get a memory of Shoto biting a candle like a fucking corndog???"
Shoto blushes furiously and just lays down on the floor. Fuyumi and Natsuo are wheezing with laughter.
Enji, confused: "Is that- is that what happened to the candles? Why in the world-"
Shoto: "I was seven and he's an ASSHOLE!!!"

5 + 1 Fic Friday Roundup: Memory Problems (2)
Have some more fics where a character or two is fuzzy on details like their real name or where they were last week or why no one can remember them.
I have lived with shades so long (AO3) - "(Or, Feemor can't be remembered. Dooku decides this is valuable and not at all an excuse to swoop in and snatch up his grand-padawan. Fox pines. In between all of that there's Sith magic, undercover missions, betrayals, near-death experiences, new paths forward, and a love that might end up saving the whole galaxy. Just not in that order.)"
hide the wolves of sleep (and mask the graves) (AO3) - "Quinlan Vos is assigned to lead the Coruscant Guard under mysterious circumstances. Psychometry is one hell of a way to break even the toughest mysteries wide open."
if we could always be so new (AO3) - "Hawks gets hit with an amnesia quirk. Dabi gets begrudgingly involved."
Another Brother (FF) - "It was a mission of revenge. There weren't supposed to be any survivors, but Chief Hakoda couldn't bring himself to kill the Fire Nation boy. Against his better judgment, he brought him home. A Zuko joins the Water Tribe story."
Don't Forget to Write (AO3) - "Damian happened to win a contest to illustrate a new book by an up and coming author. Being the good brother he is, Dick decided to check the book. He quickly realized he was reading a very first hand account of one of Jason's old cases, and deciding to act like a normal person would, he decided to read some of the author's other works. What he found shook the very foundation of what he thought was true." Set to Private
Bonus: remember me for centuries (AO3) - "Or: the one where Joe has amnesia but he and Nicky are still devoted husbands."

Summary: “My life is a nightmare,” Dabi muttered blankly.
“Nah, this is hilarious,” Hawks said, and while he wasn’t explicitly laughing, Dabi knew that those weird little chirps he was letting out were pointed at him. “Imagine if we go through all this effort and you don’t even have some sort of dramatic background or tragic backstory to justify you being this emo, you’re just a hot topic junkie or something.”
“That’s fucking worse.”
Or,
Dabi has amnesia and keeps reading conspiracy theories about himself in an attempt to figure out who he is, gets the League in on it, and they dismantle organized crime, revolutionize society, and ravage the hero system in the process. Hawks suffers.
---
Review: Oh my god, this is hilarious! The idea of the LOV 'accidently' making the world a better place when the entire time they were trying to figure out Dabi's identity because even ‘Dabi’ couldn't remember it, is genius. I love how the world just thinks they've shifted into vigilantism. A lot more people like them now, and they have no idea because they're so focused on the investigation and never watch the news. Poor Hawks. They cause him no end of trouble. They also inadvertently free him - so there's that.
Speaking of Hawks... in this AU, Dabi also used to be in the same Commission program as him. They 'were' a couple and continue to be a couple now. This will always be my favorite MHA pairing.
We still get Dabi's dance and Endeavor exposure as well. Except here it's more funny than it is dramatic with Shigaraki literally laughing in the background and Toga live-streaming it.

Cobalt flames danced around the streets, Touya looked up at the night sky, seeing the stars. Deep inside there was a melancholy he couldn't put his finger on. It wasn't until he turned his head, watching his flames burn everything. Through the flicker of fire, he saw your face.
He felt tension at his core as a nostalgic feeling filled his veins. It was like a drug coursing through him to see you again. It has been years. He parted his flames, just enough to see you more. Another loose end he had to tie up from his wretched past.
He recognized you as his childhood friend, the one person besides Natsu that he spilled all of his secrets to. And you also healed him on several occasions. Maybe you would remember him. He turned to you, as he studied you. However, you just looked at him with terrified. He let his flames die down a little, as he slowly approached you.
"Y/N...?" He spoke out in a soft voice. "I'm surprised to see you here at this time at night..." He spoke softly as he walked by, stopping beside you. You froze for a minute, looking up at him. A bit off-put by his patchwork appearance. "Um...who are you...? H-How do you know my name?"
His voice held a bit of disappointment in it with sadness. "You really don't remember me, huh?" He searched your eyes for some sort of recognition for him. "We were best friends when we were kids..." "We...were...?" You tried to scramble your brain for the memory, but nothing came up.
He felt a small pang in his chest, knowing that you couldn't remember. It hurts a bit that you couldn't. But he shook it off as he leveled to your height, his hand moved to your cheek. Your eyes widened at the gesture as you tensed up, not sure why some random scary-looking stranger was caressing your face at the park.
His thumb stroked your cheek gently, the feeling reminded him of when you two were kids, as he always held your cheek like this to look at you. You were the only one he ever really felt close to. "I never thought you'd forget me..." Your expression softened, and the gesture felt familiar to you. His presence felt familiar but the memory was hazy.
His heart ached as you continued to stare at him with a muddled expression in your eyes. He was tempted to pull you into a hug but he refrained from doing so, not wanting to scare you off more. He took a deep breath as he stood up again, letting his hand drop from your cheek. He was trying to seem nonchalant, not wanting to show you just how affected he was that you didn't remember him. He ran his fingers through his hair. "What are you doing at this park anyways...?"
"I...sometimes...come here....to breathe I guess." You weren't sure why you were being so open with me. It just...felt right. He hummed slightly, surprised that you came here to all places considering the two of you used to hang out at this spot. He crossed his arms over his chest, watching you sit on one of the swings. The blue fire somehow did not bother you around as it encircled the park.
"Why this one?" He asked looking around at the back then back at you. You being here at his park, the way you found comfort here, the way he can almost imagine this same scene if you two were kids. "Why come here so often?"
"It just feels important." That sentence made his heart ache a bit more as he sighed. He knew all too well why this park was important to you, but you wouldn't know. He looked at you, as an idea came into his head. He walked over to you, his hands resting on the chain attached to the swing, just above yours. "Close your eyes."
You weren't sure why, but you listened to him, closing your eyes as your grip on the cold metal tightened. He reached up, brushing a hair behind your ears. It was a weird idea, but maybe it will make you remember. "You trust me, right?" Your common sense told you no, but something else told you that you trusted him for some reason. "I guess."
You waited nervously, not sure what was going to happen. Unbeknownst to you, he leaned closer to you, the distance between your faces was a few millimeters away. The silence between you two was deafening as you kept waiting to see what would happen.
His heart was pounding in his ears as he took a deep breath. Your lips were so tantalizing close to him that he could almost taste the lingering sweetness of your lip balm. He couldn't hold back anymore, he knew it was stupid and reckless but he wanted to know how you would react. He leaned forward and began to press his lips against yours.
At first, you wanted to shove him away, pull away from shock. But you didn't. For some reason, you melted into the kiss. It felt...right. He felt you lean into the kiss, making his heart flutter. He was not expecting your reaction at all, but it was welcomed by him. It was like a part of himself had come back to him, something he never realized was missing. He couldn't help but deepen the kiss as he gently pulled you up from the swing, and closer to him.
"What are you doing..?" You muttered as he pulled away from the kiss. He rested his forehead against yours as he caught his breath. The feeling was overwhelming and it took all his willpower to pull away. "I...don't really know." He mumbled in response, his voice was shakier than usual. Being this close to you was as intoxicating as a drug, he couldn't get enough.
"What's your name..?" He paused, the question breaking him out of his daze. "Touya...my name is Touya." You nodded, the name made your heart race but the memory was still foggy associated with the name. Your eyebrows furrowed together trying to recall. He gently ran his fingers through your hair in an attempt to soothe you.
"Were....we in love...?"
"Yes...we were..."

part two of yandere surgeon dabi gets jealous?
Yandere Surgeon Dabi gets jealous part 2
Part 1 can be found here.
So after Dabi finds out that you've got a brain tumor (and feeling immensely guilty for making you overwork because he wanted to "punish" you for making him "jealous", and then u ended up getting hurt), he's panicking as he calls his father, Enji Todoroki, the best oncologist in the country and also the owner of the hospital he worked at, telling him that he needs a favour.
Of course, Enji agrees to help and has Dabi send over your reports ASAP. Meanwhile Dabi is waiting in your room, holding your hand to keep himself from having a meltdown, occasionally yelling at a nurse for her incompetence whenever she came to check on you.
When you did wake up, you were surprised to see your boss by your side, eyebags under his red eyes (was he crying? Maybe.), hair dishevelled and hand still holding yours.
"Uh- Dr Dabi?" You called out, wary of him because of the disdain in his eyes (it wasn't disdain, he was mad.... at himself and at you for having this awful disease- he's just so scared, so he's masking it up by looking at you with disgust and rage).
He hesitantly dropped your hand, rubbing his eyes to relieve the itch (he didn't want you to see the tear escaping because of the news he was about to tell you) as he told you what happened.
"You... have a tumor in your brain." He said, watching your face go from surprise to disheartened to just... acceptance.
"Okay."
"Okay?"
You nodded. "Yeah. It is what it is."
It is so NOT what it is.
Dabi furrowed his brows. "I'll get this tumor out of you. You'll be fine. You don't need to worry about anything. You'll be under my care, I've already contacted Dr Enji Todoroki-"
"Your dad?! Whoa! He's like- the BEST oncologist!" He did not appreciate you being impressed by Enji. "I don't think I can even afford him-"
"I'm handling all your finances. I'll take care of everything."
"Oh no, you don't need to-"
"This isn't up for discussion. Like I said, I'm taking care of it all." He snapped, before leaving the room, mumbling about getting you something to eat.
Following days that you were awake, Dabi showed you a side of his that he only ever reserved for his pediatric patients.
He was caring.
Okay he was caring towards you. To everyone else, he was insufferable. While he would help you sit up and sip some water, he'd go out and yell at the nurse for bringing you water that was a degree too cold. He fluffed up your pillows but would snarl at the nurses for not bringing you extra pillows. He'd spoon feed you meals but he almost beat up the cafeteria cook for making the absolute bland, zero nutrition food.
Dabi was stressing and de-stressing simultaneously. While he was calm and patient towards you, he was just panicking on the inside about your tumor, so he'd go hard on the hospital staff to blow off some steam. But you get the better end of the deal, you get princess treatment (that is totally not based on him trying to rid himself of guilt)
Anyways, just a few days later, Enji has come to your room to introduce himself as the lead doctor for your case, and that he was gonna do his best to remove the tumor.
"You will need surgery. Dabi, can you prepare OR 2 for 4pm today-"
"S-surgery?" You asked.
Enji and Dabi looked at each other, then back at you as they nodded.
"Yes. Um, do you have any concerns?"
You remained quite, fumbling with your thumbs. You don't wanna sound stupid in front of such an amazing surgeon.
"Y/n?" Dabi walked closer to you. "What is it?" He demanded softly.
"I-I don't want to sound ungrateful or undermine you, but I've been studying my case as well and well- what are the risks?" You asked nervously, afraid of offending either of them.
Enji smiled. "No, it's my mistake for not explaining earlier. I just thought Dabi had already informed you." He looked at his son but Dabi didn't meet his eyes. "Well, to answer you question- there are chances of amnesia and paralysis. But I can assure you-"
"What are the chances? Percentage?"You asked, throat closing up.
"70%." Oh no. "But 30% is more than enough-"
"Not for me." You mumbled. "There is- there is an option for chemo and radiotherapy, right? They have far lower risks for the complications you mentioned, right?"
Enji nodded. "Yes, but I would highly recommend you go for surgery-"
"No. Chemo and radio."
"Y/n-" Dabi called out to you. "-the tumor can be removed now. With chemo and radio, it's not confirmed if we'll be able to get rid of the tumor then. I'm scheduling you for surgery-"
"No! I said- no surgery. And that's my final decision." You huffed out, and Dabi glared at you. Enji excused himself, clearly you two needed to talk this out.
"You're a doctor- a surgeon! I don't understand why you're not opting for surgery-"
"The risk is too high!"
Dabi scoffed. "There's a 30% chance none of that will happen! We've been doing surgeries when there were less than 10% chances of survival!"
"I- I just can't take the risk, Dr Dabi. Its just too high for me." You said, eyes starting to tear up.
Dabi sighed before sitting on the chair next to your bed. "Look, I understand that you're scared but I guarantee you, none of those complications will happen. I'll be operating with Dr Enji. Don't you have faith in me?"
"I do. I know that you and Dr Enji are both- extremely skilled doctors but I just- I can't risk those complications."
Dabi furrowed his brows, losing his patience. "So what? You'd rather lose your life than have to live with amnesia? Partial paralysis? Are you stupid? You'd much rather die than be alive with complications?"
"Yes." You replied, tears falling down your face. "Yes. Is that what you wanted to hear?"
"Y/n-"
"My mother had Alzheimers." You whispered. "I had seen what it did to her, how the disease slowly enveloped her until she was nothing but a shell. She is- she couldn't even recognise herself in the mirror one day. And it's just- it's so fucking unfair. For all the sacrifices she made, for all the good times she worked so hard for, all of it went down the drain in an instant. She has no memories of any achievement, she doesn't remember marrying my father, having kids, anything. She doesn't even remember what her favourite color was, what her favourite band was- nothing. And it's all- it affected everyone of us. My father- he died. He loved her so much but my mother would panic everytime she saw him and didn't recognise him, screaming bloody murder that there was a stranger in her bed. And then one day, she- she just killed him. Just picked up a knife and stabbed the stranger standing in the kitchen. She killed her husband because she couldn't recognise him. A few months later, she died as well."
Dabi's heart sunk. You'd never opened up to him like this before, and why would you? It's Dabi who imagines you two are way closer than just on a professional level, something more than colleagues.
He swallowed as he chose his next words carefully. "I'm sorry to hear that, Y/n. However, I still insist that you get the surgery. What happened with your mother, will not happen to you. I will make sure-"
"You don't understand." You closes your eyes, brows furrowing in frustration. "I cannot afford to take that risk-"
"And why the hell not?!" He finally snapped. He's been way too patient with you but you keep pushing him.
You looked at him, shock evident on your face before you composed yourself.
"I have people dependent on me. My little brother, he'd been the most affected by my parents deaths. If I were to go through the same things as them, he'd- he'd lose it. Id rather die than to have him witness yet another family member succumb to this, and worse- wonder if he'll get this disease too." You grabbed his hand, and Dabi's eyes softened ever so slightly (though his brows were still knit together in frustration). "I don't expect you to understand or sympathise with me, but I do have memories that are far too precious. I cant lose them. And I can't have amnesia, or paralysis or anything physically limiting because I'd rather not be a burden on my brother... or anyone."
Dabi shook his head, his hand squeezing yours in affirmation. "You wouldn't be a burden, not to me. I'd take care of you, I'd take care of everything. Your brother wouldn't need to know about anything. I'd just- I'd take care of it, okay?"
You smiled sadly, before pulling your hand away. "That's very kind of you, Dr Dabi but... my decision is final. No surgery."
Dabi left your room, opting to release his anger on some new interns than blow up on you. Why are you making everything so fucking complicated?
By evening, he's calmed down and he swings by your room to check in on you, heart turning to mush as he caught you asleep. You're a lot less mad to get at when you're asleep because you don't say hurtful things like the one where you insist on endangering yourself.
And for who? Your brother? This right here- the fact that you always put everyone's need above yours is the only flaw that you have. That and you're stubbornness.
"My decision is final. No surgery."
Dabi hopes it's just the brain tumor impairing your decision making, because there's no way he's just gonna allow you to throw your life away for no reason.
The next morning, you were greeted by... Doctor Keigo Tamaki.
A psychiatrist.
Also, Dabi's best friend. (Dr Keigo claims this, Dabi doesn't.)
Apparently, Dabi sent Keigo to talk some sense into you and convince you for surgery because Keigo claims he's been told that you've been showing... "suicidal behaviour". So, Dabi wanted you to get some "much needed" therapy.
You chuckled, because clearly this is a joke. I mean, you know how Dabi is. He may have a cold hard, stick-up-his-ass exterior, but deep down you know he cares about everyone, especially his patients. And you're his patient too, so it makes sense.
Dabi continued to take care of you, monitoring your meds and still doing daily reports on the tumor to see its progression, all while trying to provide you some emotional support. But it seemed like rather he was the one in need of emotional support from you, as you continued to affirm him that you will get better one day, that you do feel better every day.
And as much as he wouldn't like to admit that you were right, the chemotherapy was indeed working. You were doing better than before.
Maybe this was one of the times Dabi didn't mind being wrong.
He smiled softly as he watched you sitting on the bed, talking animatedly with Keigo and the nurse, Dabi pretending to read your reports over for the 10th time, like he wasn't just listening to you crack the most unfunny joke.
As if Dabi wasn't smiling from ear to ear.
"Y/n? Oh- what's that?" The worry in Keigo's voice had Dabi whipping his head towards you, eyes widening at the streak of blood dripping down from your nose. Dabi yelling at the nurse to pass you the tissues before he snatched the box from her and pulled out a few tissues, bringing them to your nose and tilting your head back.
You looked at him in confusion, Dabi's face barely masking the panic as blood started pouring out of your left eye, and then the right one.
"D-dabi?" You whispered, before your eyes rolled back as seizures took over your entire body, violently jerking as Dabi began screaming orders at the nurses, snatching the anti epileptic injection and injecting you immeadiately while Keigo made sure your seizures didn't end up harming you.
The drug worked and you were sedated, Dabi's mind going at a million miles per hour as he tried to process what just happened when Keigo's voice brought him back.
"Dabi. Look." He followed Keigo's gaze towards your lower abdomen, heart stopping as he saw a giant blood spot around your crotch area. Pulling away the sheets, he saw the bloody mess and the two men shared a look before beginning to reel you towards the radiology to get a brain scan, and send blood samples to lab.
When you woke up a few hours later, Dabi was sitting in your dimly lit room, eyes red and furious and just so... tired.
With bleary eyes, you asked him. "What happened?"
Dabi just glared at you, and he looked like he was just barely containing his rage, thinking of his choice of words carefully.
"You-" Dabi pursed his lips, before breathing deeply to calm himself. "-You need the surgery."
You sighed. "We've been over this already-" but Dabi slammed the reports on the overbed table, standing up and pacing around the room as he waited for you to read them over.
As you pulled out the brain scans, you immediately recognised the problem-
"The tumor hasn't shrunk." Dabi said, still pacing.
"Well, it has shrunk a bit-"
"It isn't shrinking fast enough!" Dabi snapped. "The chemo isn't working fast enough and the side effects of those drugs are making you sicker!"
You shrugged. "Well, those effects were expected-"
"No, I didn't expect you to fucking seize and bleed through almost every hole in your body!" Dabi yelled, eyes shooting daggers at you. You remained quiet as he continued to pace around your room, running a hand through his hair frustratedly as he continued to list how every single worst side effect could possibly start to appear in your body if you do not get surgery.
"I'm booking the OR tomorrow. You'll get the surgery at 9 am-"
"No. I- I am not consenting to this surgery-"
"Did you not just hear what I said? You could die-"
"Possibly die. Possibly bleed to death. Possibly. Possibly. I'm fine with taking my chances. And it's no news to either of us that chemo is causing my health to deteriorate a bit because it usually gets worse before it gets better!" You explained.
"Y/n-"
"No. Surgery. I'm not consenting."
Dabi stormed out of your room, slamming the door on his way out, spooking the nurses enough for them to get out of his way.
Dabi continued to walk, a murderous expression on his face as he reached the OR duty board to look at the surgeries he was scheduled for tomorrow.
Why do you have to be so fucking difficult?
Don't you understand that just because you want to take risk the possibilities doesn't mean he want to as well?
That he can't risk the possibility of your dying?
"And I won't." He picked up the eraser and cleared out the whole board before beginning to reschedule all surgeries, writing your name on the very top, along with his father's.
You're getting that surgery, one way or another.
He called his father to tell him that he's scheduled to operate on you tomorrow, before calling Keigo.
-
The next time you woke up, your room was still dimly lit. Your body felt weaker than before, arms heavy as you realised its hard to move any of your limbs.
Was this yet another effect of chemotherapy? Or just the brain tumor doing its horrors.
Your mind flashed back to your conversation with Dr Dabi. A part of you wondered if you should just give in and get the surgery. Maybe- maybe your brother will understand-
No. You can't. You can't take the chance.
Just then, Dabi walked in, looking slightly surprised that you're conscious.
"You're awake." You opened your mouth to reply but found it hard to do so, your entire mouth felt like cotton.
As if sensing, Dabi walked closer, placing a hand on your shoulder. "Its okay, its just the anesthesia wearing off. You don't need to talk, just rest."
Anesthesia?
The confusion in your eyes must've been prominent as Dabi made an "Ah!" sound.
"Anesthesia... fron your surgery. This morning." But I didnt consent. "I know you didn't consent, but it's alright. Dr Keigo said that after his thorough evaluation, he deemed you unable to take care of yourself and make good decisions. Health related decisions. So, we decided to sign you up for surgery."
Surgery? What surger-
Even in your drug induced state, your mind was able to answer your own question. And knowing that Dabi was well aware that you never consented to it, that he just violated your autonomy-
Dabi sighed softly as he wiped the tears that slipped down your cheeks. "Y/n- Y/n, come on, now. Stop crying. The surgery went well, nothing happened to you. Dad- Dr Enji was able to remove the tumor with ease, and I was right there with you the whole time. I wouldn't have allowed any mistakes, not even from my own father." He lowered himself until his face was just a few inches away from yours. "I was right, wasn't I? About the surgery being a success, about no complications occuring. So, come on now. Stop crying. This was for your own good. And I will continue to make better decisions for you, until you can start making them for yourself again, okay?" Very daringly, Dabi raised his hand to your face to tuck away some strands of your hair behind your ear.
If you weren't so shocked, you may have recognised the silent "I love you" in all these actions.

Actually I'm thinking on that amnesia!dabi with the dabihawks thing of just
Dabi: "PLEASE tell me you're close with my family because you're a boyfriend I forgot and has been grieving my death."
Hawks, unsure how to respond: "...... no?"
Dabi: "in that case I should've started with 'hey I have amnesia and forgot when our date was, can you remind me?'."
Hawks: *even more confused bird noises*

So like. pre-Dabi family drama reveal, people were insisting he was a todoroki. and they were right!
what about an AU where dabi has amnesia and everyone around him is like 'oh my god you're todoroki touya!' (by everyone i mean the league doing 2+2=4 kind of thinking and then later shouto after the summer camp, who recruits midoriya 'heroic encyclopedia' izuku into his 'conspiracy theory') and he's like 'no the fuck i am not?? are you. are you stupid?'
endeavor also sees him and recognizes him as his ""dead"" son and dabi is even more flabbergasted.
idk where it would go but like. it's the classic skeptic-believer comedy and i think it would be very funny.
for some reason this reminded me that somewhere in some corner of the internet, the geten-is-touya theorists are still in mourning.
this is infinitely funnier than canon bc Dabi thinks he's just Some Guy that really wants endeavor dead, as most people should, but now for some reason Endeavor seems to be equally obsessed with him.

5 headcanons for Dabi joining at Dancing with Heroes-style show.
I've never seen Dancing with Stars but this sounds amazing. The premise is an ordinary person paired with a celebrity in a reality TV dancing contest.
Naturally Dabi joins because Endeavor is a judge, and he plans to make it to the final couple and then invite his father to dance with him in hell. He can combine his two favorite loves: patricide and dancing!
Dabi gets paired with Hawks. They have hate at first sight with a side order of belligerent sexual tension. Hawks is super serious about winning because he applies his full abilities to everything he does and because this is the closest he's had to a vacation in years. Dabi thinks he's the greatest dancer ever so he's shocked that he keeps holding them back. He throws all his energy into learning to dance.
This takes place before Dabi became a villain so he has no rep. Dabi keeps dropping hints about his true identity to Endeavor to taunt him. (For example, mentioning how he likes Touya's favorite food.) The hints go completely over Endeavor's head but he notices this young scarred dance contestant reminds him of his dead son. Endeavor is extremely nice to Dabi and pays a lot of attention to him, to Dabi's confusion.
After Hawks and Dabi's chemistry becomes obvious, some of Hawks' fans start to bully Dabi. They insult his scars and imply he could never be good enough. Also they taunt him about holding their idol back. Endeavor defends Dabi strongly. Dabi is furious and throws all his attention into winning to prove them wrong. He's forgotten about his original goal by this point. To great triumph, Dabi and Hawks win.
Endeavor gets increasingly suspicious and has a secret DNA test done, then reveals that Dabi is his long-lost son Touya. Dabi replies "I forgot" meaning he forgot all about his revenge. The Todorokis think this means that Dabi had amnesia so they whisk him back home to live with them. Dabi starts dating Hawks as a middle finger to Hawks' fans, or at least that's his story and he's sticking to it.

Summary: “My life is a nightmare,” Dabi muttered blankly. “Nah, this is hilarious,” Hawks said, and while he wasn’t explicitly laughing, Dabi knew that those weird little chirps he was letting out were pointed at him. “Imagine if we go through all this effort and you don’t even have some sort of dramatic background or tragic backstory to justify you being this emo, you’re just a hot topic junkie or something.” “That’s fucking worse.” Or, Dabi has amnesia and keeps reading conspiracy theories about himself in an attempt to figure out who he is, gets the League in on it, and they dismantle organized crime, revolutionize society, and ravage the hero system in the process. Hawks suffers.

Can we know more about Paperbag Dabi's system 👉👈
Aaa, gladly.
Realistically, especially given Dabi's a programmed system in this series, he would probably have more alters than just Touya, and likely a high alter count. I didn't feel like writing a ton of alters and trying to keep track of all of them so i just stick with Dabi and Touya.
Dabi has some amnesia when Touya fronts and vice versa so they doesn't remember much of what goes on when the other fronts. He'll get bits and pieces back slowly, but they don't have very good communication.
Since Touya is a trauma holder, Dabi repressed a lot of the csa/csem from childhood and Touya holds that. Dabi's aware of it, at least to some degree, and remembers bits and pieces but not very much.
Programming talk now, Touya was primarily subjected to programming for the purpose of csem and trafficking as a kid once Enji decided he can't train him anymore. Touya was groomed already by then both for hero work and due to the csa (I hc Enji began sexually abusing Touya years before he went on to traffick him within the commission) so the commission used the grooming and pre-existing conditioning as a foundation to build off of for the programming.
He's primarily doll programmed, which basically causes him to believe himself to be an object meant to be used sexually by others, and when cued or the program is tripped, he dissociates hella hard, has trouble moving, and has trouble disobeying anything that can be seen as orders. This works on either alter/the entire system, but since it's Touya's trauma, it usually triggers him out. Tripping his programming can happen accidentally but a lot of the times in Paper Bag his programming is intentionally cued by Tomura since Tomura learned how to do that from looking into Touya and finding csem of when he was a kid (which I think happened in codependency?) Basically, with his cues, certain phrases and/or physical contact (usually coupled together) will cause certain programmed responses. They're used frequently enough that of you're looking for them in the series you can spot them. I try to stay consistent with them, so I wrote them all down;
Grab face, “Be empty and still like a good doll.” – Makes him be directed into whatever position and be unable to move or speak unless program is stopped (snapping fingers three times) usually cannot react during this either and defaults into a vacant expression unless he’s directed otherwise (told to smile, cry, beg, etc) then he’ll react the way he’s told to/is expected to.
Hands on hips/waist, firm voice, “Strip.” – will remove his clothing.
Hand on head, pushing downward, “open.” – will drop to his knees and open his mouth.
Hands on knees, firm voice, “Let us/me see you” – will spread his legs open and hold that position until cued/directed otherwise
While lying down, preferably on a bed, “Touch yourself” – He’ll begin masturbating.
Handed sharp object during sex, “Bleed for me/us” – will begin cutting himself, usually on his thighs unless directed otherwise
Cameras, women’s lingerie, group sex/being penetrated by multiple men, most of the cues above – Triggers out Touya or brings him closer to front.
I don't expand on it much but the commission is shady and fucked up here, definitely did this to other kids and programmed people in similiar ways (though for different reasons/within different branches. Like Touya was programmed for csem, but other kids may have been programmed for hero work, spy work, interrogation purposes, etc) and Touya landed in the csem/trafficking branch of the programming because he was "pretty", pre-groomed, and already conditioned to be compliant to sexual abuse.
Dabi definitely did survival sex work and petty thief while he was homeless, and that alter mainly came around as a means of survival / emotional protector since Touya was so vulnerable, he wouldn't do well on the street. He's also managing most of the villain work too because Touya, though involved in the revenge and exposing endeavor plan, doesn't want to be a villain or go against hero society because of his programming.
Speaking of exposing endeavor, Dabi has a super hard time making the broadcast video bc of his trauma with cameras and Touya repeatedly getting triggered out.

Eye For An Eye
Tomura x Reader
Genre: Hurt, Comfort, Fluff, Romantic
Summary: You suffer horrible injuries in a fight, and in the downtime that follows, Tomura takes it upon himself to look after you. Weeks later, the roles reverse.
CW/TW: descriptions of injuries, mentions of stitches, mentions of passing out(due to pain), being fed/eating
(As usual, let me know if I missed any CW/TWs!)
(If the mini hospital scene is shit, that’s because I don’t watch a lot of medical shows/movies, and I’ve only ever gone to a hospital once(and that was for a kidney stone))
~~~~~~
You almost wanted to scream. The pain so bad that you’d take a migraine over this. You were on a mission with the others, things were going fine, and then you turned to find something sharp bludgeoning you in the head.
All you could understand was the pain, you barely heard the sound of Tomura’s feet rushing towards you, a enraged snarl leaving him as he fought off your attacker.
You were going in and out, muffled voices sounding panicked, your body being gently turned and checked over as, you assume, Tomura shouted orders.
You felt someone carefully scoop up your upper body, Dabi, you assume, judging by the insane warmth. You felt someone else gather up your legs, and the wave of pain that hit you as they began to lift you off the ground had you passing out.
You awoke feeling like your blood had turned to lead, the throbbing in your head drawing a breathless whine from your throat.
“Oh good, you’re awake. Try not to move so much.” You heard a masculine voice speak over you, gloved fingers tracing over your arms, the texture of bandages being registered to your mind. “You had to get some stitches in some areas, but everything should heal pretty quick.”
You flexed an arm, bringing feeling back into it before you gestured up to your head. “‘S there…?”
“Yes, you’ve got bandages on your face too. It’s not as bad as the others initially thought, but there’s cuts that are pretty low on your forehead, so we had to wrap the bandages over your eyes for a bit.”
You nodded, feeling the stranger help sit you up and prop you against some pillows.
“The League is out and about right now.” The man piped up again, breaking the silence that began to smother the room, “Something came up with that Liberation group but they should be back soon.”
The distinct sound of a water bottle being cracked open reached your ears. Then feeling it pressed to your lips reminded you how dry your throat was.
Your thirst now quenched, your ears picked up on the distinct beeping of a heart monitor, and the slight, uncomfortable pressure of an IV in your arm. The ache and soreness in your limbs beginning to surface too.
“Where ‘m I…?” You mumbled, tongue feeling heavy in your mouth.
“You’re in the hospital.” He stated, the sound of a pen on a clipboard reaching you. “Your vitals seem fine, but there’s also the chance of amnesia, you took a big blow to the head.”
He then delved into a series of questions, all of which you answered with no issue.
The quiet that settled with the scratching of pen on paper was gentle, not smothering like before.
“…You’re Tomura’s doctor, right? Your voice sounds familiar.”
A chuckle followed your inquiry, the click of his pen sounding after. “I am. Quite perceptive of you to recognize me, given how little you’ve seen me.”
You had accompanied Tomura to and from his visits a few times, never quite interacting with his doctor, moreso just there so Tomura had someone to talk and rant to so his mind didn’t wander too far.
Finding yourself growing tired, you leaned back into the pillows, finding sleep to pull you in quickly.
You awoke once more, now somewhere far more comfortable and warm. You recognized the feel of your favorite blanket instantly, and then the gentle touch of someone lifting your arm and beginning to unravel the bandages.
“…Damn these look painful.”
“Hey Spinner.”
You got a smile out of the way he clearly jumped, a startled sound in his throat before he sighed.
“Didn’t mean to wake you, I was just replacing your bandages.”
You nodded, letting him do as he needed.
“How are you feeling?”
“Sore as fuck.” You replied, shifting to bury yourself in your blanket as Spinner tucked your arm back against your stomach.
“I bet. I’ll go get you food, you need to eat.”
The time spent recovering felt mind-numbingly slow. The others checked on you frequently, moving you from the bed you had woken up in and into the living room where it was more comfortable. They would turn the cartoons you’ve watched and memorized a thousand times on the TV, so there’d be something familiar for you to focus on. Toga and Twice would entertain you with whatever was going through their head that day. Dabi would sit with you and listen to movies, letting his natural warmth soothe your aches. Compress and Spinner made sure you were comfortable, ready to grab you whatever you needed at a moments notice.
You appreciated their efforts, spending your recovering days being comfortable and sleeping more often.
Tomura was more or less distant, clearly annoyed by what your more-than-likely-decayed attacker had done.
It was late one night, you couldn’t sleep due to the nap you took earlier, and were now wide awake.
You had heard someone shuffling down the hallway not too long ago, and just as the thought of calling to ask for something to eat passed through your head, the sound of their footsteps grew near.
“Would you like some ramen?” Tomura’s quiet voice reached you, gentle against your slightly aching head.
“That sounds nice.” You hummed, giving a soft smile. The sound of a bowl softly clicking against the coffee table was heard, and you felt Tomura’s form hovering over you. Tomura gently adjusted you into a better position, propped up against some pillows he tucked behind your back. You heard the soft rasp of the bowl being picked up from the table, moments before the edge was pressed under your lower lip.
“Open.”
Following Tomura’s instruction, you opened your mouth, the warm and delicious taste of your favorite ramen flavor filling your mouth. He held the bowl under your lips, ready to catch anything that slipped from you.
When you finished the first bite, another was ready and waiting, Tomura’s gaze flittering over what he could see of your expressions, the weight of his stare more gentle than you expected.
It was a little jarring how patient he was. How he waited until you were ready to take another bite before continuing to feed you, how he caught any strands of hair that fell, and how he never uttered a word of complaint for anything you asked of him.
It was even more jarring how perceptive he was, giving you smaller bites after somehow noticing your subtle discomfort in the near mouthfuls he started off giving you.
In a faster time than you expected, the bowl was empty and set aside. Tomura’s hands, which had gloves, traced over your arms, gently turning them over.
“Your injuries are healing, the bandages are clearer than they were a few days ago.”
You could tell Tomura was irritated. Not at you, but at what had happened. You wondered if he was upset at himself even, not quick enough to stop the blows that had caused your injuries.
Pulled from your thoughts, Tomura slid his arms under yours, gently tugging you into a laying position on his chest as he leaned back.
His arms were looped loosely around your back, a quiet sigh leaving him as the tension in his form slowly melted. Gripping onto his shirt, you slipped into a light slumber.
It was like a breath of fresh air when you no longer had to wear the bandages, or deal with the stitches that held the worse wounds together. You still had to be careful with twisting too much or tearing a scab, but despite the slight strain your eyes were dealing with, you were relieved to be able to take more care of yourself.
You weren’t allowed in missions still, but you were more than happy to jump back in to helping with the Leagues plans.
The weeks went by with normalcy, your injuries healing and almost no longer visible.
But then you heard news of another fight, this time another crew member getting seriously hurt.
You weren’t sure how, but you suddenly found yourself faced with Tomura’s broken hands after this most recent fight. He wouldn’t tell you how he broke them, mouth pressed into a thin line as he avoided your wide-eyed, worried gaze. As if to spare you any extra worry or to save whatever dignity he had if it was from something stupid. Either way, you didn’t pry, more worried about if they would heal properly.
The doctor said they would, but until then the movement would be hindered.
Tomura was not happy.
Thankfully, no big plans were coming up, so he had plenty of time to heal. Still, you took it upon yourself to help him, reminding him of how he helped you when he asked why.
You guided him along to the kitchen, asking what he wanted to eat over your shoulder.
“Ramen.”
Of course.
You spoke no complaint, fixing up the ramen in just a few minutes. Tomura had settled himself in his favorite spot, glaring down at his severely purple hands. They had been bandaged and set in a way for them to properly heal, but loose enough so he could move his fingers enough to keep them from going stiff.
You could tell he was tempted to simply fight through the pain and go about his days as usual, but with the League members and the doctor nagging him he really didn’t have a choice.
You turned to him as you set the ramen in front of him, reaching out midway to his face. “May I move the hand? Just long enough for you to eat, I promise.”
Even though the expression in his eyes didn’t change, you could feel the pierce of his stare right through you.
You saw his hands twitch, as if he wanted to reach up and move it himself, and then you saw the flicker of pain in his eyes.
“Just be careful.” He rasped, and you nodded.
“Of course.”
You reached out slowly, gently loosening the fingers, one by one, before setting the hand aside, right next to Tomura where he could still see it. He seemed pleased, a bit of tension leaving him as he watched you pick up the bowl, bringing it up to his mouth just as he did when you were injured weeks ago.
A slightly amused expression crossed over him, and at your gentle prompting he opened his mouth to let you feed him.
