DP x DC Smallville
Okay, I've been forming this theory for a while now, but this scene just cemented it:
Tumblr media
The bottom of her boots? Fenton F??? There is no way you can't tell me those aren't Fenton-grade boots!
Hear me out. I have other evidence.
The principal in season 1 is a man of Asian decent named Kwan. Who else do we know named Kwan?
Tumblr media
And to top it off, Smallville's Kwan has a son named Danny. Now obviously, his son isn't Fenton/Phantom, BUT assuming at least the class and maybe the entire town of Amity Park learns Danny's secret, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary that some of his classmates grow up and name a child after their town hero. Even if they never learn Danny's secret, Danny Fenton himself did lead the entire class against Ember and Youngblood, as well as exhibited other noble qualities, so it's not out of the question that at least one of his classmates had a child whom they named 'Danny'.
2. As discussed in this post, the whole 'Kryptonite-is-crystalized-Ectoplasm' theory. Now some of the more meticulous (me) might be wondering, 'if this theory holds up and Kryptonite-Ectoplasm is giving random people in Smallville super/ghost powers, then why didn't Amity Park have the same activity?' Why thank you, Skeptical Voice In My Head! I'll tell you why. First of all, Smallville has had 12 years-worth of exposure to the Kryptonite-Ectoplasm, that's why! During the course of Danny Phantom's runtime we only get to see ~1 year pass. 2 if we're being generous. In addition, despite having a literal portal to Hell the Infinite Realms open basically 24/7 in the town, along with near-daily/hourly ghost attacks, the citizens of Amity Park themselves do not seem to regularly come into contact with any form of Ectoplasm. Unlike in Smallville, where people are handling the stuff almost daily - hell, dozens of people just casually wear it as jewelry, and I guarantee more than 1 person has at least a meteorite rock or 2 in their home, as a keepsake. There is also a potential argument to be made about crystalized Ectoplasm-Kryptonite being more potent than the ambient radiation/gas/liquid stuff we see in Amity Park.
3. There is literally a canonical town near Smallville called Amityville. Enough said.
4. Which brings us to number 4. The Boots.
I propose that it is highly likely that Danny's class grew up through the events of Danny Phantom (sin Phantom Planet), and that Smallville takes place somewhere around ~25 years after the Portal opens. Kwan grew up to be a teacher, then principal, and named his son after Danny (whether he knew Danny's secret or not). Fenton Works continued on in some capacity, whether it's still the Dr's Fenton going at it or if Danny/Jazz inherited the family business, and at some point made a line of Fenton-grade combat boots. Heck, maybe Sam had a say in their design (it is the kind of thing she'd wear).
In addition, if this is ~25 years later, then Amity Park would be full of Liminals right now - probably keeping their nature on the down-low so the rest of the world doesn't know, or being held under a Team Phantom (Foley/Fenton/Technus) or GIW-mandated blackout. Either way, the general world knows Amity ParkVille exists, but not that Liminals live there (unlive?).
And because their exposure to Ectoplasm was much more gradual and they would have had enough cultural exposure to ghosts, they would adapt to their newfound Liminality powers much more effectively than the poor flash-exposured citizens of Smallville who end up insane because they can't handle the sudden influx of power they're granted. The citizens of Amity Park have the tech and know-how to deal with weird ectoplasm-induced ghost powers. They've seen and interacted with enough ghosts that the idea of Obsessions/Purposes/insert-headcanon-here isn't far-fetched and they'd know how to deal with it in a slightly more constructive way (or at least, be able to handle the ghostly aggression that Liminals seem to have, if Smallville is any indication).
SO, In Conclusion, Danny Phantom's Amity Park and Smallville are in the same universe, albeit DP is ~25 years ahead of Smallville's setting.
Just Saying.

Prompt 47
Hear me out. Amity Park gets shifted in universes slightly- maybe it’s from Pariah, maybe it was a wish, maybe they did so on purpose to escape something- and they end up in the DC-verse. The thing is, thanks to the media blackout and the shields, no one in the new universe notices. The Amityville Paekers know about outside, can go on the internet and leave whenever they want, but they’ve all become more than a little liminal. More than a little off. Movements too graceful, eyes too sharp, ears too pointed and teeth more akin to predatory fangs. Skin with a soft glow, hair moving as though underwater or being tussled by the wind- bodies seemingly unaging after a certain point. They’re so ecto-contaminated that they’re unsure they can even be counted as human anymore, and it wasn’t like the city wasn’t already practically self sufficient. Add in a portal or two through the Infinite Realms to get supplies to start a few fields or some fish farms and well, they’re pretty good. Sure it’s resulted in them using a mixture of modern and older money and having several extinct plants and animals running around but that’s fine. There’s magic in this world! Actual magic, that they can learn! And use? Oh this makes rebuilding after a sparring incident go so much faster!
This results in the hero who stumbles across this place to believe they’ve stumbled across some sort of city of fae or elves.

Okay some canon reference knowledge of Danny phantom that I hope to spread…
"Casper" in Casper High School is a reference to Casper the Friendly Ghost.
"Amity" in Amity Park is a reference to the 1977 book The Amityville Horror.
Jack Fenton's name is a reference to Jack Torrance, who also had a son named Daniel, from the 1977 novel and 1980 film The Shining.
Even better for the Dp x Dc lovers…
Maddie Fenton wearing her jumpsuit hood in some episodes and in the intro makes her resemble Catwoman from DC Comics. The only difference is that her hood lacks cat ears.

Amity Park is Not a Small Town
And here's fucking why.
First of all, yes, I am aware that the Trivia section on Amity Park on the wiki says that Amity Park's name came directly from Amityville, New York.
I call bullshit.
Amityville is a village. It's got less than ten thousand people living in it, and it has nowhere near the skyline that we're shown on panoramic views of Amity Park. Amity Park's skyline has much more in common with the skyline of a medium sized city such as Anchorage, Alaska.
Amity park has large office buildings. It has a penitentiary for everything's sake! It has five newspapers. These are not features of small towns, and certainly not features of villages.
The american definition of a medium sized city, (which would make the skyline we see make sense,) is 75,000-500,000 people. If we average it out, we get a city of about 287,000 people. That's a lot of people. More than enough to justify a penitentiary, five newspapers, and several high schools (giving the football team at Casper High other schools to play against, rather than having to travel to other towns every game, or vice versa).
If we use Anchorage as our measuring stick, that means that Amity Park has an Under 18 demographic of around 24% (68,880 people) and 22 or so high schools. It *also* means that Amity Park could have a footprint of over or about 1000 square miles. Granted, it's in the middle of Illinois (according to fandom) so let's scale that back a bit.
Illinois' largest municipality is Chicago, with a footprint of about 227 square miles. Its smallest municipality is Irwin, at .045 square miles. Most of the mid-sized cities seem to have footprints of around 20 square miles, so let's go with that. 20 square miles.
Now.
Pariah Fucking Dark
Look. The dude is the Ghost King. He's supposed to be the Most Powerful Ghost. Pulling a mid-sized city into the GZ is fully within his capabilities, imo. If you look closely at the scene where you see Amity Park in the Ghost zone, you can faintly see larger buildings inside the shield, indicating that at the very least, Pariah pulled a large portion of the city into the GZ.
So how didn't this get noticed?
20 Square Miles of city just fucking vanishing?
Desiree.
At some point during or immediately after the Pariah Dark incident, someone wished that everyone could just 'forget the whole thing'.
And Lo, They Did.
Anyway, yeah, Amity Park isn't a small town or village. Gl HF with this information, go forth and do as ye will.

what weird interests have you had that never really made sense? i had an obsession with the amityville house because of danny phantom, watched all the movies, knew the lore (like amity park in jaws being a reference, etc) but like, it's not like it's even a great set of movies or amazing story. i was just interested for a while lol
i just saw a shot from jaws and people arguing over whether the house in the background coincidentally looked like the amityville house and my immediate reaction was "of course it looks like the amityville house, you idiots, it's literally a reference everyone knows that" but like why would any of them know that if they didn't have that random trivial fixation lol
it's so hard to see the world through a lens of pointless expertises honestly because i have such hostility in these situations, just automatically, because it's frustrating watching people be wrong so adamantly

Ectober Day 24: Nightmare
Part 1
Summary: Mirrors make Danny uncomfortable. Continuation of Day 23, a Spork AU thingy. I suggest reading Day 23 first to understand what’s going on.
Contains: some violence, language, general ghost-hate, mirror realities
Words: 1471
Notes: huh. I’ve decided to make Human!Danny very rude (to ghosts). Maybe this’ll get more. Plot is forming.
Danny stared blankly at the sign for a minute, possibly even two. Park. Amity Park. Not Amityville, Amity Park. Parallel dimensions, a voice whispered inside of his head, sounding just like Ellie. Danny made sure his goggles were functioning correctly, turned on the ecto and infrared scanners, dimmed as to not impart his vision, but assist in the darkness of night, and began his walk into town, feet unable to keep up with his racing thoughts.
On the surface, everything was approximately the same. It was like a dream, a mirror of reality with only the slightest differences that gave it away. Some of the stores were different, some just had different names. However, why would anyone name a burger joint the Nasty Burger? He had no clue, but the food was exactly the same so… ? He checked some flyers someone had put up, looking at the date. It was the same. So it really was an alternate timeline, not somewhere in the past or future. He had no idea that Ellie was serious about alternate dimensions until he had thrown himself through the portal. He could almost easily see time travel now too. (He had a feeling he didn’t want to, especially of his own timeline.) His eyes caught ghost themed merchandise and stores all over town, and he frowned. Maybe ghosts weren’t as much as a threat here? Maybe there were more hunters, or the ghosts were weaker? He even saw plushies of one particular ghost he didn’t recognize. It was… strange. Ghosts were dangerous. They shouldn’t get merch.
Out of habit, and habit alone, Danny walked home, just close enough to catch a glimpse, of the building. Physically, it was exactly how he remembered. The bright, glowing FentonWorks sign, the Opscenter on top, and even the GAV parked in the driveway. Jazz’s car was there too. Jazz was still here in this dimension. Danny wanted to see her desperately, longing for his sister burning in his chest in a way it hadn’t since the invasion had started. But there was no guarantee she was the same here. (He wondered if Tucker and even Sam still lived in this Amity.) There was a stark difference though. It didn’t feel like home. It lacked the warmth that FentonWorks always gave off, like a home was supposed to. Here, it wasn’t a home, just a building. It wasn’t his home.
Danny realized he had a new problem. He was on his own, with no money and no place to stay. Danny cursed under his breath, but a violent chill stopped him short. Ghost.
“Wow, someone needs to wash their mouth out with soap.”
Danny had an ectoblaster out in less than a second, pointed directly at the ectoplasmic scum that had dared to sneak up behind him. Even worse, his scanners lit up with an ectosignature so dense Danny had only one to compare it too. It widened it’s toxic green-on-black eyes, raising gloved hands in a mockery of surrender. It looked young physically, mid-teens perhaps, and vaguely human. But with pure white hair, wisping like smoke as the edges, lavender skin, ectoplasmic green freckles, pointed ears and most likely teeth as well, there was little mistaking that it was a ghost in front of him. For some reason, it wore something he would’ve said was a Fenton hazmat suit if he hadn’t known better. In fact it could almost be. An exact inverse of the one he wore, silver gloves and boots with a charcoal black bodysuit, a silver symbol on its chest similar to a ‘D’. It made no move to attack, and neither did Danny. He could feel it eyeing him over.
“For a newer ghost hunter, you sure are packing that Fenton tech. You a fan or something?” The ghost asked, its voice echoing like all ghost’s did, buzzing inside of his head. Danny refused to speak to it.
Danny leveled his blaster and let it charge to max, and the ghost’s eye widened, its own glow mixing with the charge of the blaster. Danny’s finger was only able to brush the trigger before it was snatched out of his hand, and the blast went off in some random direction. Faster than his eyes could track, Danny found himself slammed into a wall, the breath from his lungs knocked out of him. The ghost’s eyes glowed an icy blue for a moment before returning to the standard dangerous green, its teeth bared like a feral animal. Danny’s wrists were forced above his head and bound by ice. Of course. A ghost of this level would have some sort of elemental affiliation, but it had to be ice of all things.
The ghost backed off, huffing in irritation, crossing its arms. Danny thrashed, pulling against the ice, half tempted to dislocate his hand and wrist in order to escape and wipe the post-sentient expression of its face. Danny snarled and spat at the ghost, spitting out insults and curses in one continuous breath. The ghost only looked mildly impressed.
“Ancients, calm down, will you? I’m not going to do anything.” The ghost frowned.
“What do you want?” Danny hissed, glaring at the bright glow of the ghost through his goggles, freezing cold but maxing out his ectosensor.
“Literally just to know who you are and what you’re doing so close to FentonWorks. For a ghost hunter I’ve never seen before, you’re really well-equipped. And also trying to hunt me. Don’t you know there’s been a peace treaty between me and most hunters? Even the out-of-towners know about that one,” The ghost babbled.
Danny reeled at the incredulity of the idea, a peace treaty, with a ghost. He could only see it since the one in front of him was at such a caliber that it would take the time and resources to catch and destroy. Just like it would for Pariah. Whenever he made it back home that was. But he had never met this ghost before either. If he could find the same one back in his own dimension, maybe they would have a fighting chance, even if it meant teaming up with a ghost.
“Who are you?” Danny demanded.
The ghost stared at him blankly for a minute before responding. “I’m Phantom. Who are you? I definitely haven’t seen you around before.”
“Danny Fenton.” Sure, he wasn’t the Danny of this world, but he was still Danny and that wouldn’t change.
Phantom seemed visibly startled, frowning. “No you’re not,” Phantom said with finality.
Danny huffed, “How would you know, ghost. I’ve decided to join my parents recently, which is why I’m here.”
“You’re not Danny Fenton.” Phantom hissed, and Danny glared at him.
For some reason, the stupid ghost didn’t believe he was Danny. It was even starting to show its true colors, fury in its eyes, barely contained.
“Of course I am-” Danny could finish that statement as his goggles, hood, and mask were ripped off of him, tossed to the ground.
Danny yelped as they were ripped from his head, taking a piece of his hair most likely with it. Phantom stared at him, his face going through a series of emotions. Smugness, then shock, disbelief, and then pure confusion all in the span of a second as the ghost undoubtedly recognized him.
“See, dumbass, Danny Fenton.” Danny snapped.
“You’re not Danny Fenton.” Phantom had the nerve to repeat, staring Danny directly in his eyes, “Are you one of Vlad’s?”
“I have no idea who Vlad’ is. And how are you so sure I’m not Danny, anyways?” Danny snarled, well and done with this ghost. Extreme level or not, he was going to blast a hole straight through its chest for this.
Phantom floated down to the ground, and sent a quick look back towards the FentonWorks building, before resuming eye contact. Bright white rings blossomed from its waist, something he had never seen from a ghost before in his life or in his parents’ research. They split, running up and down Phantom’s form, blinding him without his goggles.
Danny blinked the spots away, and then had to adjust to the sudden lack of lighting, Phantom's glow was gone. In its place Danny stared back at eyes frighteningly similar to his own, except different in all the wrong ways. The skin was too pale and littered with different scars. Eyes that looked bruised from lack of sleep, hair obviously uncut and unkept, smaller in both stature and frame, the age wasn’t quite right either, younger only physically. The lack of a hazmat suit threw him for a loop, along with a shirt he hadn’t seen in at least a year. But it was undoubtedly him.
“Because I’m Danny Fenton,” his own voice echoed back, eyes still burning that awful ectoplasmic green.
And just like that, the dream-like reality he had entered quickly became a nightmare.

Note
I was trying to decide which state Amity Park should be in. I narrowed it down to three.
Massachusetts, known for being Lovecraft country
Maine, known for Stephen King's preferred locale
New York, which is where the real Amityville is located.
You can see why I picked NY.
See I slapped it more in Illinois because it's close to Wisconsin which is like. The only location we have lmao.

Archive Project - March 11, 2014 - Danny Phantom Series Review
Danny Phantom, 2004-2007. Butch Hartman 3 Seasons, 52 Episodes ————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————— Butch Hartman's run on Nickelodeon over the past decade has been nothing short of spectacular! Starting out with the brilliant Fairly Oddparents and moving on to Danny Phantom and TUFF Puppy, his shows have been some of Nick's best regular shows! Though Fairly Oddparents seems to be out of the cultural conversation at this point and TUFF Puppy never took off, one cannot deny his record! The mid-2000s saw his run of Danny Phantom, arguably his best series given Fairly Oddparent's recent decline. The series depicts the story of Danny Fenton, a 14 year old boy born to a pair of ghost hunting parents who one day is accidentally given superpowers that allow him to turn invisible, phase through walls and fly. Using his new ghost powers, Danny fights evil ghosts that seek to destroy his hometown of Amity Park. In Junior High I really enjoyed watching through this series! Danny Phantom was one of the only series I ever followed from it's beginning to it's series finale other than Avatar: The Last Airbender. With the series being recently released on DVD I picked up the entire series and chugged through it in a week. Is it still good? Yes and no. Its still really awesome with a lot of great action and comedy but it isn't the ground-breakingly awesome show I remember from back in the day. I always like when a movie or television show is self aware to the point that it can make fun of itself or it's genre endearingly. I love PowerPuff Girls for that reason! Danny Phantom seems to some extent to be homage to the Superhero genre and it's cliches, or it's just embracing them and doing it really well. Its not particularly evident given that the show doesn't point and laugh at itself as much as PowerPuff Girls. Most of the show is played straight and is what it is. Which is alright given that the show is pretty awesome! The show's overall story arc deals with Danny Fenton growing into his abilities and social life, in a rather thinly disguised metaphor for puberty. Though its handled more subtly than Spiderman… which isn't that hard to do… Throughout all three seasons, Danny learns new abilities, fights more challenging foes and is forced to confront consequences for the mistakes he makes along his journey and attempt to stop powerful foes from taking over the planet. There is a lot of homage in the show though! The series references a lot of classic horror and ghost stories such as Casper The Friendly Ghost, The Raven and Amityville Horror. The series also has tangental visual references to Ghostbusters in the style of the supernatural creatures and technology. Danny's rogue gallery is a diverse array of really awesome foes! Each is unique and has a personality and drive behind their actions, though quite a few of them tend to be 1-dimesionally evil without a lot of depth. Of the three seasons, I would say that the second season is the best one. The first was a basic character introduction that set up the series and it's universe which was pretty good but the show hadn't quite found it's niche until the later part of that season. By the second season and the introduction of Captain Young Blood as a regular villain, the series overall writing and quality jumped and the stories began to expand upon the established characters and started creating interesting new enemies such as "The Ultimate Enemy". By season three however the series started changing up a lot of the main characters and situations and simultaneously started pumping metaphorical steroids into the new characters and stories. Everything feels bigger and more powerful but it lacks the sense of grounding that the first two seasons had. Maybe it was the natural progression of the series in the aftermath of some of the universe alliterating specials like Ultimate Enemy, Reign Storm and Reality Trip, but I don't see those affecting the canon to the point that such vital changes were needed. Characters in this season like Vortex feel like weak attempts to ramp up the drama artificially but making the foes bigger but it comes off as less interesting than villains like Skulker or Technus. Overall though I would say this series is really good! Its not some great deep thing, but its fun and has a lot of moments of great comedy and action. If you haven't watched it as an adult by now chances are you won't find very much in this. This is a show meant for kids and its a nostalgic show for me personally! You can buy the entire series nowadays at Walmart or Amazon for only about $20.00 nowadays! ————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————— PS. My favorite episodes are: 1. Pirate Radio 2. Ultimate Enemy 3. Kindred Spirits Thank you for reading! Live long and prosper!

I have to add to this. (I'm working under the assumption that this is a dimensional hop via the Infinite Realms rather than a straight blending of the two worlds.)
You know that Danny having zero recognition of anyone/anything outside the norm (to him) is gonna set off alarm bells. Hell, him being surprised and presumably excited at the existence of real/other super heroes? (then disappointed because they're basically HPSC-endorsed cops)
Assuming Danny mentions the GIW but not about Ghost Biology (or that his own parents are involved), awareness of the crazy science involved and if he does mention how much he's been working to STOP them from abusing this stuff? That some more canny heroes will pick up on being related to the kid's own quirk somehow?
Danny is gonna be suspected to be from an evil lab doing illegal Quirk Research. Isolated, perhaps raised in a fake small town to give him a sense of 'normal'. One which would sound like it's based off of old Pre-Quirk tv shows to make it slightly harder for Danny to get help if he ever got out. Which worked... up to a point.
... shit, they're gonna go lowkey feral trying to find the GIW and this "Amity Park". The name would point at Long Island NY (Amityville) but the accent... well, accents can be faked. Locations can be faked. And Danny's sudden appearance in Japan? Close enough to U.A. meaning he's around smack dab center of Japan's main island? "Amity Park" is probably some secret lab in Japan itself.
Thankfully it is super obvious that it is not the same kind of research that created the Nomu. Like no exposed brains for one. And there is Overhaul doing his own nonsense around too so its not like there can't be another secret organization doing this stuff.
But if he ever slips up and mentions Cujo, or god help him mentions Walker or Fright Knight...
NOT DC for once! But DP none the less!
And out here asking the Questions That Are Haunting Me (o.o ) as I sit and Ponder(TM)
Danny. Our babiest of boys. The feral Racoon of our hearts. WOULD HE? Get... stuck? If he possessed someone with one of those Haunted By The Previous Holders Protagonist McGuffins?
I am thinking specifically in this case Izuku Midoriya. Deku.
With his probably GRABBY AF Stockpiling Quirk. Which? Probably would want to get it's clingy little raccoon hands ALL over Danny's Ecto like? SIR!? Excuse me, SIR DESIST!!! *smacks with newspaper*
Not to MENTION? You go to hide, because crazy spandex weary people in armor, which... Fair. And? There are like? 8 to 9 people...already IN here? Uuuuuuuh? Hi? Well, this is awkward.
Wait, wait, WAIT! NOT THE FACE! *sounds of Shimura violence, because Nana don't play that "possessing my boy's baby boy" bullshit*
And like? Could he even LEAVE? Or would he have to literally make a Fenton Dream Catcher to split his Ecto from the person he's in? Presumably and HOPEFULLY before he, you know, POISONS THEM.
Because he accidentally picked the one dude who's body would try and ABSORB the very much NOT SAFE and very much DEADLY, highly corrosive, radioactive, substance known as Ectoplasm? Which was perfectly safe when only connect to HIM but NOT when leeching into his "host" as it were.
Oh! And people are super jumpy about him taking control of this random adolescent boy for a few hours a day to build the Catcher... for some reason. Like? Full squad of Professionals watching his every move, type jumpy. What? Is this kid the Japanese President's son or something? DOES Japan have a President? Hell if Danny knows. He's in a foreign dimension! So, maybe!
At least the kid is have the time of his young life, harra- I mean CHATTING with his... heeeead mates? Yeah, Danny has no idea what's going on there and doesn't feel like asking. This place is WEIRD.
Also! No NASA! OR space programs! So clearly, the WORST timeline/dimension! And Danny is trying not to be RUDE? But what the fuuuuuck. Unholy! Heathens, all of you. He wants his Space(~☆) back. And less..... This *offended hand motion*

Visual Aid: 107 Danny Phantom Facts
So I did this again.
(It’s what keeps me occupied when my husband’s asleep and the tablet pen is charging~)
((This one was barely longer than the 10 Years Later, Part 2, but it took all day for some reason...))
Let’s get this thing started~
Hey everybody, Butch Hartman here. I am so excited today because I'm teaming up with Channel Frederator today to talk about my show, Danny Phantom. Can give you the inside scoop.
You guys remember the fandom? Are you kind of curious about the show? Well, relax, we've got something for everybody here as we talk about the 107 facts about Danny Phantom.
For example, did you know that the 2005 Michael Jackson trial was actually features on Vlad's TV on one episode? It's there.
107 Facts: Danny Phantom.
001 Danny Phantom was created by me, Butch Hartman, after I had previously worked on the Fairly Odd Parents with Nickelodeon.
002 When making the show, I drew a lot of inspiration from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Ghostbusters.
003 The title Danny Phantom was inspired by the titles of 1960's cartoons like Jonny Quest. More specifically, I wanted to create a title with a real first name, followed by a last name that was also kind of an action word. Some of these alternative action words were "Danny Thunder" "Danny Lightning" and "Danny Power". "Danny Phantom" was the name I went with cause I thought it sounded the coolest.
004 Some of the alternative first names I had for our hero included "Billy Phantom", "Kenny Phantom", "Jackie Phantom", and "Davey Phantom". I think you'll agree they don't quite have the same ring as "Danny Phantom" does.
005 I came up with the concept for the show Danny Phantom while driving a moving van from Las Vegas to Los Angeles with my mother. Unfortunately, she was more fascinated by the sight of a desert tortoise, than the birth of a new, awesome Nicktoon.
006 Before settling on a superhero show, one of my first concepts for Danny Phantom was a bit more in the main Ghostbusters. It was called Danny Phantom and the Specter Detectors, and it would have focused on a powerless Danny and his friends hunting down ghosts, using an array of ghostbusters-like gadgets.
007 Danny Phantom was pitched to Nickelodeon executives over dinner. Execs treated me  after they ordered more episodes of Fairly Odd Parents, and they happened to ask me if I had any more ideas for TV shows. And, yes, being treated to nice dinners is definitely an appreciated perk.
008 There's some early concept art of Danny showing a surprising design. I originally drew him with the Superman-type body, which was basically a lot of unrealistic buff muscles. I reverted to the slimmer design when I decided it's be more interesting to portray Danny as a fourteen-year-old kid.
009 I decided Danny should be fourteen years old because that age is kind of a bridge between childhood and adulthood. It's more of a period of self-discovery which certainly fits the theme of Danny learning to live and control his ghostly abilities.
010 Danny's skinnier, final design, was the collaborative effort of character designers Steven Silver, Shannon Tyndall, and - surprise - me.
011 Unlike many other cartoon characters, Danny has five fingers. Take that Timmy Turner.
012 You may notice that when Danny goes ghost, only his hair turns white and his eyebrows stay black. They're actually meant to be white as well, but we all thought the white brows made Danny look like an old man so we, uh, kept 'em.
013 Sam and Danny were originally meant to share a psychic connection, so one would know where the other one was at all times. But I scrapped this to keep things simple. Only Danny was finally to have the superpowers.
014 Danny was originally gonna have a pet owl named Spooky that would be able to track ghosts. I scrapped the concept as Harry Potter rapidly gained popularity. I  didn't want his series to be constantly compared to the boy wizard.
015 I wanted to give Danny a really cool ghost motorcycle to use as his primary means of transportation, but then I realized that giving a motorcycle was pointless because, you know, he can fly really fast.
016 The father-son duo of Jack and Danny Fenton are a reference to Jack and Danny Torrance from The Shining, which explains why Jack Fenton constantly accuses his children of being ghosts.
017 I gave Danny an older sibling because, unlike Timmy Turner, I felt that Jazz Fenton would make Danny feel less in control at home and give him somebody to contend with. I thought this lack of control would make Danny's experience with his superpowers all the more satisfying for him.
018 Jazz Fenton was named after a character in John Byrne's 1990's comic book Next Men. I always thought the name Jazz was cool.
019 Tucker Foley's name is a combination of actor and comedian Chris Tucker and Eddie Murphy's character from Beverly Hills Cop, Axel Foley.
020 Danny's teacher, Mr. Lancer, is named after a family restaurant in Burbank called, you guessed it, Lancer's.
021 Vlad Masters was originally going to be a vampire, but Nickelodeon execs thought making him a Vampire could lead to some pretty violent territory and I thought that too. So he was changed into a ghost.
022 A remnant of this scrapped concept can be found in his villain name "Vlad Plasmius". Plasma is found in blood which, you know, vampires kind of have a thirst for.
023 I refer to Vlad Masters as Danny Phantom's Lex Luthor. Like Luthor, Vlad uses his wealth to exert his power, or at least some of it. He also has a personal connection to Danny that gives him the upper hand in most scenarios.
024 Danny's love interest, Paulina Sanchez, is a parallel to Superman's love interest, Lois Lane. Both characters have no romantic interest in the protagonist because they have a crush on the protagonist's superhero alter ego. Lois loves Superman, but not Clark Kent, and Paulina loves Danny Phantom, but not Danny Fenton. Paulina: But you still have no shot with me Oh, the cruel irony.
025 Danny's ghost sense is identical to Spiderman's spider sense. Both senses alert their respective heroes whenever danger is nearby.
026 The parallels of Spiderman don't end there. Dash Baxter is a parallel to Peter Parker's football playing bully, Flash Thompson. Not only do Flash and Dash bully the protagonists of their universes, but they idolize the protagonist's superhero alter ego without realizing the hero is actually the person they bully. Their names both words that describe their quick movement and rhyme with each other.
027 The ghosts of Danny Phantom's world aren't the spirits of the deceased as ghosts tend to be in pop culture. Instead, they're monsters from another dimension. We call them ghosts because it's easier to say and it's more appealing than saying monsters from another dimension.
028 Danny's hometown, Amity Park, is a tribute to the settings of a few famous horror stories. Amityville, Long Island is the location of the famous haunted house known as the Amityville Horror. But Amity Park is also named after Amity Island, the location of the book and Steven Spielberg film Jaws.
029 Danny's high school, Casper High, is named after Casper the Friendly Ghost. Hey, if we hadn't added all these paranormal references, you may have forgotten the show is about ghosts.
030 Quite a few key members from the Fairly Odd Parents had a hand in making Danny Phantom, including writer  Steve Marmel and art director Bob Boyle.
031 One of the major differences working on the Fairly Odd Parents and Danny Phantom was the latter series' more serial format containing everything from character arcs to recurring story lines. Danny Phantom embraces storytelling angle by making the episodes 22 minutes long as opposed to Fairly Odd Parents whose 22 minute run time consisted of 2 eleven minute episodes.
032 One of the most challenging aspects of creating a superhero show like Danny Phantom, was giving all the superhero tropes a unique and interesting twist. We wanted to keep the series fresh an unique.
033 I originally wanted to cast a fourteen year old boy for the role of Danny, but I couldn't find anybody that sounded heroic enough. That heroic voice I searched for was ultimately provided by David Kaufman. Before playing Danny, Kaufman broke into the realm of voice acting when he played Marty McFly in Back tot he Future: The Animated Series.
034 David Kaufman kept his audition for Danny as a CD in his car that he would listen to towards the beginning of the show whenever he drove to the studio to record. He did this to remember what Danny sounded like in order to immerse himself into the character efficiently.
035 I wasn't the only one Kaufman's performance left a deep impression on. His daughter, Grace, calls him Daddy Phantom.
036 Sam Manson is played by actress Grey Griffin. I basically made an effort to include her in every show I created back then. Thus far, she's played Vicky in the Fairly Odd Parents and Kitty Katswell from T.U.F.F. Puppy.
037 Tucker isn't the first loyal friend Ricky D'Shon Collins has played. Before hunting ghosts with Danny, he helped TJ Detweiler keep balance and order on the playground as Vince LaSalle in Disney's Recess.
038 Maddie Fenton's voice actress, Kath Soucie, has essentially crafted a career out of voicing cartoon mothers. She played Dexter's mom in Dexter's Laboratory, Betty DeVille in Rugrats and Miriam Pataki in Hey Arnold.
039 Danny's father, Jack, is played by legendary voice actor Rob Paulson, who's played iconic roles like Yakko Warner, Pinky, Carl Weiser, Experiment 625, Donatello in the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Raphael in the old one, and way too many more to mention here.
040 Although Mr. Lancer is far from hardcore, his voice actor, Ron Perlman, has played quite a few characters throughout his career that redefined the word, He played Hellboy in the Guillermo del Toro films of the same name and he voices Slade Wilson, also known as Deathstroke, on Teen Titans, as well as the Lich in Adventure Time.
041 Valerie Grey was originally played by Grey DeLisle for the episode My Brother's Keeper before renowned voice actress Cree Summer was chosen to take over the role. If her name doesn't sound familiar, you've probably heard her voice as Penny on Inspector Gadget or maybe even as Susie Carmicheal on Rugrats.
042 Valerie isn't the only one that's had a change in her voice. Dani, that's Dani with an I, was voiced with two different actresses through the series. She was played by AnnaSophia Robb in her debut episode Kindred Spirits. The role was then taken over by Krista Swan in the episode D-Stabilized, which was Dani's second and final speaking appearance.
043 Tara Strong plays two of the show's recurring villains: Ember McLain and Penelope Spectra. This is definitely not the first time I've worked with her. You probably know her best as Timmy Turner in the Fairly Odd Parents, which proves she can effectively play both the hero and the villain.
044 Every celebrity guest in the show was cast as a ghost, similar to how celebrity guests would play villains on the 1960's Batman series starring Adam West and Burt Ward. Some of these celebrities include Particia Heaton from Everybody Loves Raymond as the Lunch Lady, and Matthew St. Patrick from Six Feet Under as Skulker, and Will Arnett from Arrested Development as the Ghost Writer, and Martin Mull as Vlad Plasmius.
045 These celebrity voice actors typically played their ghosts for a limited time before different voice actors took their roles. Sometimes as soon as the ghost's second appearance. Series Kath Soucie took over the role of the Lunch Lady and Kevin Michael Richardson became Skulker.
046 Tucker's dad, Maurice Foley, is voiced by Phil Lamarr who voices Hermes Conrad on Futurama and Samruai Jack on Samurai Jack.
047 Mark Hamill plays Undergrowth. He's, of course, best known for playing Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, but also as countless voice acting credits, including the Joker and Fire Lord Ozai.
048 The ghost child Youngblood was played by actor Taylor Lautner when he was just nine years old. Lautner would later be featured in everybody's favorite love story Twilight. Wait, who wrote that? Do I have to say that?
049 Danny's ultimate enemy, Dark Danny, is played by Oscar-nominated acting legend Eric Roberts. His impressive resume includes everything from the Dark Knight to the Cable Guy.
050 The first recording session for Danny Phantom took place on November 21, 2002, about a year and a half before the show premiered. The first episode to be recorded was also the first episode to air: Mystery Meat.
051 In fact, Danny Phantom premiered on April 3, 2004, right after Nickelodeon's annual Kid's Choice Awards.
052 Unlike many other animated shows, the cast of Danny Phantom recorded their dialogue in the same room together. David Kaufman described the experience as something akin to a stage play.
053 It takes the actors around 3 hours to record dialogue for a single episode. David Kaufman knows that shouting "I'm goin' ghost!" so many times made his voice hoarse by the end of the day.
054 In the episode What You Want, I voiced a football announcer that also looks a lot like me except he's, you know, a cartoon. I mean, he looks a lot more like me than Dr. Bender does. I hope.
055 The theme song we hear today wasn't the only one recorded for the show. An alternate version got so far into production that an alternate opening sequence was storyboarded all the way around it. The alternate song sounds very similar to the final product with different lyrics that focus more on explaining Danny's abilities.
056 The theme song was changed because Nickelodeon wanted it to tell Danny's origin story. This way, new views wouldn't feel alienated when watching the show for the first time no matter what episode they started out with.
057 Luckily, changing the lyrics wasn't an overly complicated, make-10-calls, logistical nightmare since I wrote the lyrics of the theme song. Both of them actually.
058 I based the show's theme song after the song The Invisible Man by Queen, one of my favorite bands.
059 One thing I learned from working on the Danny Phantom theme song is that your first idea isn't always your best idea, and to never stop pushing yourself until you've made something truly awesome. You're welcome for that halfway through burst of inspiration.
060 I also co wrote another fan favorite song Remember, performed by Ember in the episode Fanning the Flames, which also happens to be my third favorite episode. Yes, my third favorite. I am very, very specific.
061 Danny Phantom was the first show to be produced by my very own company, Billionfold Inc. which was co-founded with my wife. Billionfold comes from a biblical term, hundredfold.
062 A single episode of Danny Phantom took approximately 10 months to produce, stretching all the way from pre-production to post.
063 While the pre-production phase took place in Burbank, California, Danny Phantom's animation was done by a Korean animation studio called Rough Draft. Rough Draft's resume includes work done on other animated classics like Futurama, The Simpsons, and SpongeBob SquarePants.
064 The individual villains found within Danny Phantom's rogues gallery was based on ideas that I had. Ember McLane stemmed from a pitch regarding an episode about music fads, and the effects they have on teenagers. The Lunch Lady was generated from my very astute knowledge that students tend to hate school prepared lunched.
065 Vlad is a Green Bay Packers fanatic because Danny Phantom's story write, Steve Marmel is a cheesehead himself. We nearly got sued for this, but luckily Marmel was smart enough to make the team colors of the Danny Phantom Packers gold and green instead of green and gold.
066 One scrapped running gag Marmel wanted to incorporate was that Vlad's home would be blown up after every encounter he had with Danny, but this recurring joke was mainly lost in editing.
067 Had the series gone on, Danielle would have been taken in by the Fentons, effectively becoming the younger sister of Danny and Jazz.
068 Technus was intended to have another upgrade, Technus 3.0, in the episode Identity Crisis. The design was scrapped after we decided the upgrade didn't really fit anywhere in the episode's story.
069 The addition of Danny Phantom's logo later in the series was the suggestion of Nickelodeon executives, who thought he needed a symbol akin to heroes like Batman, Superman, and Spiderman. But perhaps more honest reason was because the execs wanted to make the hero more marketable.
070 Danny officially became 99.99% marketable in the season 2 episode, Memory Blank, in which Sam gives him his D logo.
071 The series score was composed by Guy Moon, who is also responsible for the music heard in the Fairly Odd Parents.
072 When Guy Moon and I met to discuss a soundtrack of an episode, I would usually sing over the episode in progress to give Moon an idea of how I wanted the music to sound. Moon would bring a camera to these sessions and record my, admittedly, unskilled singing to remember my instructions.
073 Not everyone can become a half ghost, half human. If Sam or Tucker had gotten caught int the middle of the Fenton's malfunctioning Ghost Portal, it would have likely killed them.
074 Wulf is fluent in Esperanto, a language created in 1887 by Dr. Ludwik Lejzer Zamenhof, perhaps better known by his pseudonym of Doktoro Esperanto. Esperanto was created in the hope of replacing every language in the world as the one universal language. Judging by the fact that this video is in English, you can probably guess how that plan worked out.
075 The episode titled Shades of Grey is obviously a play on Valerie's last name, but the title could have a much deeper meaning. The term "shades of grey" refers to an unclear position on the scale of good to evil, usually somewhere in between. This certainly applies to Valerie, as she doesn't necessarily fight ghosts for good or evil. but for her own personal reasons.
076 During Shades of Grey, Danny names the ghost dog Cujo. Cujo's also the name of a horror novel by Stephen King about a dog bitten by a rabid bat, which turns the dog into a cold-blooded killer.
077 The green glowing, double bladed melee weapon Maddie uses to slay the legion of Vlad's monsters in Maternal Instincts is practically identical to Darth Maul's double bladed lightsaber in Star Wars Episode One, save for the red color.
078 Because I know everyone loves multiple Episode One references, the the title of the second season's 9th episode The Fenton Menace is obviously a play on the title of everybody's favorite Star Wars film, the Phantom Menace. Yes. Everybody's favorite Star Wars film.
079 To continue the Star Wars nods, the Danny Phantom universe has its own line of popular toys called Space Wars featuring characters that resemble Chewbacca and R2D2.
080 Some of the computers in the Danny Phantom world have pears in the back of them which you probably guess was a nod to Apple computers. Timmy's dad in Fairly Odd Parents has the same symbol on his laptop.
081 Save for the creepy pictures of Maddie, the programs and icons on both Danny and Vlad's computers are exactly the same, in the exact same order.
082 Skulker's hunt for Valerie and Danny in Life Lessons closely resembles the plot of Richard Connell's famous short story "The Most Dangerous Game". Much like the story, Skulker kidnaps two very skilled humans on his property for the sole purpose of hunting what he considers to be the most challenging prey out there, or, the most dangerous game.
083 Mr. Lancer spouts the titles of books in place of shouting swear words. Some of these exclamations include The Great Gatsby, Chicken Soup for the Soul, and Moby Dick, which is about as close as we'll be getting to colorful language on a Nicktoon, except for maybe Ren and Stimpy, or Rocko, or SpongeBob. We're slick here at Nickelodeon.
084 In the episode What You Want, Paulina transforms into a popular anime cat names Sayonara Pussycat, who resembles the character Hello Kitty. But Sayonara is actually a rather dramatic and final sounding word for "goodbye" in Japanese.
085 In Teacher of the Year, all 13 levels that Tucker shows Technus are based on the eight worlds from the 1990 NES classic Super Marion Bros. 3. The level 0 glitch is a reference to the infamous Minus world from the original Super Mario Bros.
086 Before sending Danny into the Ghost Zone in the episode Prisoners of Love, Tucker can be seen playing Space Invaders on his PDA.
087 Valerie Grey lives on 461 Elm Street, an obvious reference to the classic horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street. She'd probably stand more of a chance against Freddy Krueger than the other kids in the Street as well.
088 Johnny 13 and Kitty's voice actors, William Baldwin and China Phillips, are a married couple in real life. The knot has been securely tied since 1995. Way before they were cast.
089 In Fanning the Flames, Danny quips "Do you take requests? How about Beat It." in addition to telling Ember to hit the road, Danny's referencing Michael Jackson's classic song Beat It. Good one, Danny. And good one, me.
090 Michael Jackson makes a more obvious cameo in the episode Infinite Realms where he's seen in at his 2005 trial while Vlad is flipping through channels.
091 When we see Tucker's report card in What You Want, we learn that Tucker is not only highly proficient in computers, but sewing as well. If Danny ever needs a suit redesign, he who he can call. Not the Ghostbusters, they'll likely kill him. He should call Tucker.
092 The Groovy Gang and Scaredy Cat from The Million Dollar Ghost are an unsubtle jab at Mystery Inc and Scooby-Doo. An additional fact fact for you guys, I actually worked for Hanna-Barbera, the animation studio that created Scooby-Doo.
093 The secret government organization dedicated to eliminating paranormal entities known as the Guys in White are obviously a parallel to the Men in Black who essentially do the same thing but with evil extraterrestrials.
094 I've gone on record saying the reason Danny is not shirtless when he's at the water park is because he gets sunburned very easily.
095 We can all infer that Sam has good taste in films. For instance, a poster for Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange can be seen in her room.
096 In Memory Blank, Sam wants to see Trinity of Doom, a movie starring Femalien, the female version of Alien that’s a Predator, not a Xenomorph, you uncultured swine!, Terminatra, the female Terminator, and Nightmerica, the female version of Freddy Krueger. I'd still go see that.
097 Danny has a birthmark that's shaped like the state of Florida.
098 Timmy Turner's favorite comic book hero, The Crimson Chin, appears at the Ember concert as one of her many adoring fans in the episode Fanning the Flames. I officially sanction your conspiratorial speculations.
099 In the episode What You Want, Danny and Tucker can be seen playing an arcade machine titles Crash Nebula. Crash Nebula is one of Timmy Turner's favorite heroes of the Fairly Odd Parents. The plot thickens!
100 The cross referencing continued over into the Fairly Odd Parents, too. In Poulter Geeks, a wanted poster for Danny Phantom can be seen in the ghost hunting basement of Timmy's parents.
101 Or you guys could be thinking about this all wrong, and Danny could just be a fictional hero. In the Fairly Odd Parents Crash Nebula special, Danny can be seen on the back cover of a comic book. The truth is out there.
102 If Vlad were real, Steve Marmel would have made him the happiest half man/half ghost on the planet. The writer purchased a brick at Lambeau Field, the home of the Packers, and engraved it with "Someday I will rule - Vlad Plasmius".
103 David Kaufman's favorite episodes tend to be the ones in which Danny spends time with one particular member of his family and the plot strengthens their bond and understanding of each other. He cites the episodes Maternal Instinct and My Brother's Keeper as prime examples.
104 Like every great superhero, Danny Phantom has transcended into the realm of video games. His first outing was a Game Boy Advance adaptation of The Ultimate Enemy, a 2D side-scrolling beat-em-up ordeal.
105 The second was called Danny Phantom: Urban Jungle, which was released for both Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS and it was a side-scrolling shooter.
106 There was once a Danny Phantom themed ride at the indoor Nickelodeon Universe theme park at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. Danny Phantom: Ghost Zone's design was that of an Ali Baba. In other words, it consisted of a stationary horizontal gondola with a 360 degree swinging pendulum. Unfortunately, the rise was taken down in 2015.
107 Danny Phantom ran for three season, from 2004 to 2007. A total of 53 episodes were created for the series. The news of Danny Phantom's cancellation was not well received by the fans at all. The Danny fandom took to the streets of New York City and protested outside of Nickelodeon's building to bring the ghost boy back into production. Unfortunately, to no avail. But thank you. Seriously, thank you.
Ok, guys, thanks so much for watching. Hope you guys enjoyed it, 107 facts about Danny Phantom. Don't forget to like and subscribe to the Frederator Channel.

“I have to say one of my absolute favorite is when we met. You and I were both curious as to who and what each other was, and look at us now. I got a friend, a couple of adventures, things to hold onto… I remember hearing about the supposed ghost-boy those years ago..let me think..”
“That’ll be $1200.”
“Great. Can you exchange some pounds into USD while you’re at it Sal?”
“Do I look like currency exchange to you?” It had already been a long day and the huntress wasn’t even aware of the time honestly. Given the time zone difference of Europe to the United States, it always knocked her for a loop when traveling. Locks of crimson stuck to her face as she wiped at her brows with her sleeve. “No dripping near the counter please.” “Yeah-yeah I got it,” she responded bitterly. Stepping back Tazaki looked around the collection office. It was quiet for the most part, housing maybe four or five hunters mulling over work and research - and of course, whiskey. The office was small and underground with metal and wood making for poor insulation when it rained, but she supposed that’s what the buckets and bowls were for. Littering the corners of the space to even that of the counter, they caught clean and dirty rain water from above. The red knight had been unlucky enough to get caught in the area with heavy showering in pursuit of a target. She shivered feeling a soft breeze come through from someone leaving, and door banging shut. The floor had patches and craters from God know’s what, and the walls were full of photos of the dead. Tribute notes and stickers were around the pictures, some lipstick kisses on the walls to boot. Along with the photos were old and high roller requests. Some read on as: “Catch this thing for 500K” with minimal information or “Medusa predator in Canyon Valley - 900K”. For local jobs per office, there were binders and folders of sightings and reports that seemed odd enough to get their attention. This included newspaper clippings, recordings, the whole nine yards. It was always either a relief or disappointment when a case turned out to be person-to-person related. In other words, a human on human crime. On one hand, a case could be less dangerous and simply solved by police or investigators, and on the other…well, some things are better left unsaid. There was a jukebox with a cracked exterior in the far left hand corner. The first time Tazaki came into this office it was smoking from a short circuit. This time however, an older looking woman dressed in grey and brown was putting in a couple coins to play a song. It took a minute but a song began to play softly. The machine lit up, and changes its hue to a faint blue as Take it Easy by the Eagles began. Tazaki raised a brow at the song choice and tapped the counter to the beat. Once in a while, a bounty hunter would actually confuse their location for that of an assassins/bounty hunters’ office. It usually ended in them thinking Hunters were loony people playing pretend at killing monsters - or, became an asset to their information pool. It was 50/50 shot each time really.
Tazaki took off the heavy denim jacket she was wearing, and wrung it out over an oval shaped pan at the edge of the counter, only to be met with an expression of displeasure from the man who ran the joint. His name was Sal. He was 36, fair skin with cheeks that reddened easily, chubby, stood about 5′5, and was balding. He kept a beige and red hat on so one one noticed. Everyone knew, but since he was a sincere fellow, they pretended not to know.
“I still can’t believe you do jobs for free. I wouldn’t die for no one-for free,” Tazaki rolled her eyes, accepting the envelope he handed her, and passed him the pouch of Pounds and Euro’s she collected overseas. “You’re lucky I like you.” She smirked. “Oh come on, its not like you see me very often. I’m usually on the East coat, or south of the states. You’d think California would have more cases too…” Sal scoffed. “But seriously, how do you pay bills working for free. I could slap you.” She folded the envelope, putting it into her backpack.
“You got a mother or so looking after you?”
“Something like that.”
“She know you work for free?” Tazaki paused. Tabby did know… she wasn’t a fan either. “Yup.” It was Sal’s turn to roll his eyes as he processed the coins and bills behind his counter. “Yeah well when you end up on that wall, I’m gonna have to be the one to say I told you so.” He handed her some aged and new looking bills and she pocketed them. “I’ll end up on there whether the job is paid or not, that’s just how it goes.” Sal frowned and handed her a towel. “Too young to be rushing things like that. Speaking of which, sit down and dry off, I’ll get you something from the back. ” Before she could protest about the time, he was gone. Giving a defeated sigh she made her way over to an empty table, pulling up a seat. Leaning back, she prepared to enjoy a two or three minute nap until a heavy bottle was set down on the table, causing her to look up suddenly. The Juke Box continued to sing.
Take It easy, take it easy - Don’t let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy - Lighten up while you still can don’t even try to understand - Just find a place to make your stand and take it easy…
A tall, dark, figure stood quiet with a smile on his face. He was draped in what looked to be three layers of clothing, some tattered and full of holes, others stained but in tact. A long dark blue coat, black vest, and green shirt that could use a wash. Removing what looked like a cowboy hat with bullet holes, revealed a face with scruff and unruly brown hair, like he had slept in it for a few days. It was the wide smile with dark brown eyes that she recognized. The crows feet told her how long it has been.
“Well now, look who we have down n in Nebraska.”
“..Rick? Wow. I haven’t see you since…Emma?”
“Yeah that’d be about right. We met when you were starting out right?” Tazaki nodded, and he sat down. “What brings you around here?” “There was a Wraith in the area and I was passing through.” He chuckled. “Still doing things off collar huh.” She shrugged. “Mighty bold for a nineteen year old.” She threw her head back dramatically. “Yes yes I know, I should be more careful blah blah. I’m still alive so I say I’m doing okay.” She looked back at him raising a brow. “You look like you want to share something with me.” He laughed louder.
“You were always the one to tell the best hidden secrets too.” He leaned in close, “Want to hear what I’ve heard?” She nodded. He sat up straight and continued, pulling out a photo with a blurry image. “There’s been word about a ghost a few states over helping people and actually fighting vengeful spirits.” Tazaki looked from the image and him a couple times before furrowing her brows. “…Uh-huh… That’s cool and all but why is that particular enough for you to have a photo of Casper? We’ve seen spirits help the living before. Usually family or friend related from their lifetime, not strangers.” Rick shook his hand in front of her, pointing to the image. “At first, and by word of mouth that’s what we thought too. That’s why no one’s really talking. Sighted in a place called Amity Park.” The huntress gave him a wary look. “As in… named after the Amityville Haunting? Sounds a little made up Ricky..” He shook his head and his voice got low. Tazaki leaned closer again. “It’s actually not a ghost.” She blinked, confused.“But you just said-”
“It’s a half-ghost.”
There was a moment of silence between the two and Tazaki slowly turned her head, before smiling. “Uh…hhrmph…A what? A half-ghost?” That was a term she’d never heard before. Forest green blinked at the older man before her. But his expression did not change - He was serious. “So… wait-” She tensed and her eyes widened, “Is the other half human?!”
“Shhh! Not so loud.” She regained her composure and took a breath to collect her thoughts. “You’re saying there is a ghost-no-a person that has the abilities of a spirit and is half-ghost? How- How is that even possible? A near death experience? Re-animation?” Now that she thought about it, it was usually incredibly hard to get photos of spirits without special night vision and magnification with re-imaging of faces and shapes. Yet on the photo there was a clear outline of a figure. Blurry yes, but nowhere near as bad as normal ghost images. ‘Who are you…’
Rick laughed again, slapping his leg in the process. “I knew you wouldn’t write me off. Interesting isn’t it?” She nodded, now looking at the photo is closer detail, turning it over and examining it from different angles. “What? No one else is investigating this?” He shook his head. “They think people made it up for those..um…what are they called? Silly newspapers?” “Tabloids?” “Yeah those.” “How do you know they are half-ghost-”
“He.” “What?” “He. It’s a young boy. Teenager I believe. Maybe a few years younger than you I bet.” Tazaki set the photo down. “Okaaay… are you going to give me any more details?” He raised an eyebrow. “You gonna go after this boy?”
“If you’re asking if I’m going to hunt him, no. Unless I need to…and I don’t even know how to go about that. If he’s part human he could probably evade or shrug off salt-shells and iron– oh! I could use- !” Rick chuckled and Tazaki flushed. She was already calculating and preparing for this encounter right off the bat.
W-what!” “Nothing, its just..” He grabbed her hand gently. She had so many questions. Who was this boy? What happened to him? Did he need help? Was he actually a ’good’ ghost?
“You’ve got a good set of eyes on you is all.” He mumbled something under his breath after that but she didn’t catch it. She tilted her head, confused as to what he was talking about. “Yeah? I have 20/20 vision,” she stated flatly. He laughed again, holding his side. “No that’s..” He laughed some more before getting up and nodding. “Something like that. Takes a lot of people a long time to see what you see.” She blinked. That sounded surprisingly wise. She’d been told that before, by humans and other things alike - that she was odd. Something about a different level of patience and curiosity. As well as her sense of justice. Death was a given with this career. Whether it was your own, a comrade, or a target. But Tazaki, she took each one seriously, a trait not all of her trade possessed.
“I’m off! Tell Sal I’ll see him next week.” Tazaki nodded and looked at the photo on the table. “Oh Rick, your pho-” She turned back around, waving it only to see she was alone again. “-to…” Speak of the Devil… Sal came over to the table, handing Tazaki was looked like a hero wrapped in plastic-wrap. He picked up the towel he handed her earlier only to find it just as dry. Tazaki was too distracted to notice his pouting, or the meal. He opened the towel and let it drop on her head, snapping her out of her thoughts. He walked away mumbling something to himself about stubborn kids. Rubbing the towel into her head, she spotted something in small writing on the photo. It was directly on the picture in a right hand corner. Such tiny print too “…phantom?” she read aloud. Was that what people were calling him? She looked at the blurred image for a long time, going over the questions in her head. Grinning, she tapped the photo against the table before putting it in her pocket. “Sounds fun at least. Looks like I’m taking a detour…” A job for research…no..a job for fun? It was a first. They say curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.
“Sal,”
“Yeah?”
“How do I get to Amity Park?”
“Is that a joke?”
Another favorite of mine is when I received a certain phone call a few years ago…
(7pm danny, 2 am rom)
“RUN! Get out of here! You! Attack me - Keep your eyes on me!” There was crying from behind her. There was a huge shadow and hissing. The sky changed colors. Someone was screaming, no..it was herself. She was screaming. The visuals had changed like changing a channel. The wheat field- it was destroyed, there was blood everywhere, blood from- … No matter how loud she screamed, no sound came.
Opening her eyes, Tazaki stiffened. Her eyes moved right to left frantically before they adjusted to the darkness and she realized she was awake. ‘A bad dream huh..’ Sitting up, Tazaki looked around. It was dark outside, and she was in a bedroom. Wiping her face with her hands and rubbing her eyes, she remembered. She was in her bedroom, in Romania. There was a distant cackling in the house. Low and quiet - the fireplace. The crickets from outside sang their songs and the wind of the night rolled by. Reaching blinding for her phone, she kept her eyes closed until she flipped it open to look at the time.
2:05 AM
The redhead sighed, swinging her feet out and getting up. There was no getting back to bed after that. Slipping on a dark red robe that was gifted to her, she wrapped the string around her waist and headed to the kitchen. There was a note on the table.
“You went to bed early so dinner is in the microwave “ with a small heart drawn next to it. Tazaki gave a weak smile. She wasn’t in the mood to eat although she should. Instead she would sneak into Tabby’s good tea stash and make a pot. The house or rather, cottage she was in was cozy and small. Outside, a good couple hundred feet away was the tea shop, the older woman of the house ran and made a living from. A sign on the annex read “Tabby’s Tea House.” Her full name was Tabitha Ardelean, and she had become a guardian to the crimson haired huntress through a messy and sad story dating back to the loss of Kaito Hikari. Tazaki’s job took her around the world, more so in the United States, but still. She had promised to  make time to come home, always. Once the kettle whistled, she quickly turned off the flame of the stove and poured a cup. ‘Don’t want to wake her up at this time of night…’ Slipping on sneakers and taking her cup, she made her way outside, in front of the cottage to take a walk. There was nothing but green grounds and forest. They were on a mountain after all with a dirt road that led up here. Looking up at the sky, it was dark but clear. Freckles of light decorated the Blanket of night. She spotted Orion’s belt and-
Vrrrr Vrrrrr
Tazaki raised an eyebrow. ‘Woops, guess I didn’t realize I grabbed my phone.’ It was a force of habit really. Like being a doctor with a pager - always on call for the greater good, with less reward of course.
Vrrr Vrrr
Looking at the number she didn’t recognize it. Flipping it open, she answered. She was tired but she pretended to sound awake.
“This is Red Knight. Who’s calling? You should know I’m off duty”
“he-….Hello? ….az?…azzy….” There was a sot of static on the other side, so she started walking in the grass toward the road. She swore she heard something like her name.
“Yes..? This is Hikari. Who is calling?”
“Ta….ki… Tazaki? Is that you?” She stopped. The static had cleared and she heard the other voice.
“Yes… who… you sound familiar? Is this urgent?” She wasn’t in the mood talk to a stranger or investigate research at the moment. There was a pause of the phone, and she could hear a sigh and something like ‘this is stupid just hang up’.
“Uhm…no..I guess it’s not.. sorry to bother you..” This person sounded so defeated and soft spoken. It was a young voice, a young male.
“Wait.” She stated, trying to match the voice to memory. “Who is this,” she demanded.
There it was again, hesitation before speaking. “Um…” There was a nervous laugh. “This is Danny… you probably don’t-” Green eyes widened putting a face to name, and name to voice. ‘That name brings me back.’
“Danny as in Danny Phantom from Amity Park?” she said in almost disbelief and surprise. Another nervous laugh. “Ye-yeah.. that’s me.” There was relief and a bit of shock in his tone. Across the world, he held the phone tighter, as if by doing so would secure her voice coming through from the other line. She returned the laugh and stopped walking. The signal was good here.
“Wow.. out of anyone that could be calling me, I would have never had guessed…” Her smile then turned to a frown. “Wait, are you calling because something happened? I know I said I was off duty but-”
“What? Oh no -no! I…just happened to find you number…and.yea..I didn’t think it would work really…” The truth was he was feeling lonely. Things had only gotten worse since…well..he discovered new limitations to his powers and the effect it would have on him and the people around him. She had left him with her information by leaving a hand written number in his pocket. Tazaki was glad he’d kept it, and despite the chaos that happened in the couple of years since she’d seen him, it didn’t change or become obsolete.
“Sounds like you need someone to talk to..” she said quietly, sitting down in the grass and taking a sip from her mug. “Where are you?” Another pause. He was surprisingly quiet on the phone. She chalked it up to him getting older. Some habits thrive and die as we age.
“On the roof” he answered honestly.
“Yeah? What time is it there.” He took a moment before answering. “7:20 at night. Wait- what time is it where you are? He was curious as to why she’d ask the time, she couldn’t be too off from his time ri-
“2:20 in the morning.”
He was wrong, that was way off. “Uhm… if I woke you up I can go-”
“Don’t worry, I was already awake… bad dream.”
“Oh…” He knew what those were like. All too well as a matter of fact.
“You okay? Don’t really sound like yourself..” She held the phone carefully to her ear, the other hand moved from her cup to pet the cool grass.
“mhm…yeah…I’m okay.” Just ya know, catching ghosts..like always.” That was a lie but he couldn’t tell her the truth. It was his problem after all. Tazaki raised an eyebrow but let it go, it seemed like he didn’t want to talk about and she wouldn’t push.
“Hm..alright.. but if its 7 that means its already dark right? Can you see the stars?”
Danny paused, looking up from the top of the Ops center to see the sky. Decorated with dim and shining stars and a sliver of the moon. “..Yea…” his voice was hoarse. “I see them.” She laid back in the grass. “They’re beautiful..” she whispered. “Hey, would you mind watching them with me for a little while?” Danny could feel his voice in his throat and he nodded. Realizing she couldn’t see him, he cleared his throat. “Y-yeah… I’d like that.”
“Me too…”
______
“Whoops…I guess I can talk too much when I get lost in a memory, sorry about that.” She laughed, “But I cherish my memories…each and every one.”
