Who the fuck were Lila's family? Her backstory in season 2 was that her parents are brits, but in this timeline she just has like 3 or 4 random american aunties and uncles and it's never explained? We're just expected to accept that she has this gaggle of family who are ready to babysit her plot device children.
And why are her and Allison the only one's who get other family members? it doesn't make sense and it feels like we were so cheated out of seeing the Hargreeves sruggle to fit in with whatever nuclear family dynamic this new timeline dumped them in
#it would have been so much more interesting if Diego and Lila had just had Grace and had to take her round with them this season#such a missed opportunity#and I wanted Klaus living with his single mother who ran away from the Amish after her suprise miracle baby#Viktor struggling with his first generation Russian immigrant parents#Luthor with a real classic WASP family who can't stand each other but always do matching PJ christmas cards#Alison having like an aging ex-beauty queen for a mother who lives with her and takes care of Claire#Diego having like 4 sisters and feeling very annoyed that he has EVEN MORE sibling BS to deal with#Ben having very loving and kind parents who don't understand why their son has suddenly become a raging arsehole#tua#the umbrella academy#tua spoilers#tua s4#tua season 4#the umbrella academy season 4

Side effect of watching three Mike Flanagan miniseries in a week a little while ago is I now have flanaverse dreams. The plot started and I went “isn’t this just a worse version of Midnight Mass?”
#it was actually an interesting twist on midnight mass so well done to my subconscious#nobody cares but!#the premise of the dream was what if instead of being an island and there being a vampire#it was a more standard jonestowny situation. Protestant. a bev-type summoned everyone and said we’re all gonna take a communion#thatll send us straight to heaven. a bunch of people take it and just straight up die and the rest flee#start new lives with new identities and try to cope with what they just watched#BUT the church leadership was horrified and resolved to track down their lost ‘flock’#putting off their ‘return to heaven’ to do so#for which they were really salty but in a weird fucked up way it was also kind of super altruistic even though they were out to kill people#the remaining survivors developed a sort of living room community church#at one point the old leadership shows up and assassinates their (outsider) pastor and they all have to flee again#tragically my alarm went off but I was so intrigued to see what would happen next#oh and the survivors went to live in a pseudo-Amish/historical preservation type of town where they had modern amenities but#it was all designed to look like the 1890s or so. so the protagonist (unnamed female whose eyes I was seeing through)#had to go on her hot girl trauma walks through all this old timey stuff#when she thought she was being followed she ducked into a weird little movie theatre to have her panic attack#nice work to my subconscious the narrative was compelling and the characters were layered and intriguing#words of grace

Strike a Pose
summary: you give alexia a spicy Polaroid during your wedding
warnings: SMUT 18+, oh look, more bathroom sex… it’s a classic
a/n: based on this request !
word count: 2.3k
-
The venue is perfect. Alexia has already told you this, oh, about seventeen times today. The twinkly lights are perfect, the cake is perfect, the flowers are perfect. She even said your hair is perfect, which, let’s face it, might’ve been a stretch considering the stylist’s idea of “loose, romantic waves” was more like “windswept hedge.” But Alexia’s riding the high of a woman who has convinced herself that everything, down to the uneven icing on the cake, is divine. And you, well, you’re just trying not to spill champagne on your dress.
Your bridesmaids are a hot mess, but that’s part of their charm. Patri, bless her, has already lost her bouquet twice, and Frido has been flirting shamelessly with the DJ since noon. But it’s Mapi who’s your real MVP today. She’s got nerves of steel and an expression that could sell used cars to the Amish. Which is why she’s perfect for the little mission you assigned her.
At the top table, you and Alexia are sitting side by side, smiles plastered on your faces as endless speeches go on about how “they always knew you two would end up together” and how “Alexia used to be such a heartbreaker before she met you.” You’re listening, but only partially, because out of the corner of your eye, you spot Mapi making her way up to the table, weaving through guests with all the grace of a ninja.
She reaches Alexia first, the Polaroid palmed in her hand like she’s passing state secrets. “A little something from your bride,” Mapi murmurs, too quietly for anyone else to hear, sliding the photo under Alexia’s champagne flute before giving you a conspiratorial wink and melting back into the crowd.
Alexia looks down at the Polaroid, then at you. You give her your best innocent face, which is probably more mischievous than you intended. She raises an eyebrow but picks up the Polaroid anyway, keeping it just out of sight from the prying eyes of the table. You’ve angled your body toward her, ostensibly to hear the speeches better, but really to watch the precise moment when Alexia sees what’s in her hand.
It’s a shot of you from earlier this morning, topless with just the garters on, your lip caught between your teeth in a way that, if the lighting weren’t so flattering, could almost be described as goofy. The photographer, i.e. Jenni, had said something about “capturing the essence,” which apparently means trying to look seductive while fighting back a laugh.
Alexia’s eyes widen just the slightest bit. Her lips twitch, trying to suppress a smirk, and then she bites her lower lip—a move you know all too well. It’s her tell. The one that says, Oh, you’ve done it now.
But she’s got a room full of people waiting to see her reaction to her sister’s speech, so she has to keep it together. She clears her throat, sets the photo back down like it’s just a casual wedding program, and reaches for her champagne. But her hand’s shaking just enough to make the bubbles fizz a little more enthusiastically than usual.
You lean in, your lips barely brushing her ear, and whisper, “Enjoying the view?”
Her eyes snap to yours, and you can practically see the struggle as she forces herself to stay composed. “Are you trying to kill me?” she murmurs back, voice husky in that way that makes your stomach flip like a gymnast on Red Bull.
“Maybe,” you reply, your grin wicked. “Consider it a wedding gift”
Irene’s best woman speech is up next. She launches into a story about how Alexia once tried to cook for you and almost burned the kitchen down. Normally, Alexia would be red in the face, laughing and shaking her head, but right now, she’s got that Polaroid tucked under her leg, sneaking glances at it like it’s the last portion of Pan Con Tomate on earth.
You try to focus on the speech, but you’re too aware of the way her fingers keep creeping back to the photo, brushing it like she’s memorising the feel of it. Her breathing’s shallow, and when she turns to look at you again, there’s a heat in her eyes that could probably set off the sprinklers.
“You know,” she says, her voice a low murmur, “I’ve never been more grateful for tablecloths”
It takes everything in you not to burst out laughing. “I thought you’d appreciate it”
“I’m going to appreciate it later, believe me,” she mutters, a wicked glint in her eye. “But right now, I have to give a speech, and all I can think about is you in nothing but those garters”
You take a sip of your champagne, the bubbles tickling your nose as you try to keep a straight face. “Maybe that’s a good thing. Your speech will be memorable”
“It’ll be memorable because I’ll be stammering like an idiot,” she retorts, though the smile on her face says she’s not really that mad about it.
“Good,” you say, letting your hand brush against her thigh under the table, just enough to feel the goosebumps rise on her skin. “I like you when you’re flustered”
Her hand clamps down on yours, stopping you from going any further. “You are so lucky I love you”
“I know,” you reply, batting your eyelashes at her.
She takes a deep breath, clearly trying to pull herself together. You watch as she glances one last time at the Polaroid before tucking it safely into her pocket, giving you a look that promises payback later.
The rest of the speeches go by in a blur, and Alexia’s is as smooth and charming as ever, though you can see the faint flush on her cheeks, the way her eyes keep flicking to you like she’s trying to figure out how fast she can get you alone.
As soon as the last toast is made, she turns to you, her voice a little rough around the edges. “Bathroom. Now”
You raise an eyebrow, feigning innocence. “Whatever for?”
Her eyes narrow playfully. “You’re asking for trouble”
You lean in, lips brushing her ear, and whisper, “Good. I’m counting on it”
She grabs your hand, pulling you up from the table with a look that could melt steel. “You’re in so much trouble, Mrs. Putellas”
And as she drags you toward the exit, you can’t help but laugh, the sound echoing through the reception hall, turning a few heads but mostly just making you feel like the luckiest person alive.
Because really, who wouldn’t want to marry a woman who gets flustered over a Polaroid and calls you “Mrs. Putellas” like it’s both a promise and a challenge?
-
The bathroom door closes with a soft click, and Alexia’s hands are on you in an instant. The room is too small, too warm, and suddenly, you’re hyper-aware of everything—the rough edges of the sink against your back, the rustle of your wedding dress as Alexia’s fingers grip your waist, the rapid beat of your heart as her mouth finds yours.
You’re both still fully clothed, or nearly, but there’s something about that—the heat, the urgency, the sheer madness of trying to navigate all this fabric—that makes it even hotter. Her kiss is fierce, all tongue and teeth, like she’s trying to devour you whole. She’s never been particularly good at hiding how badly she wants you, but right now, it feels like she might actually lose it if she doesn’t have you right this second.
You pull back for air, breathless, and she’s already moving, her hands on your hips lifting you like you weigh nothing at all. “Up,” she mutters, and you don’t even have time to respond before she’s hoisting you onto the sink, your wedding dress bunching up awkwardly around your thighs. The skirt is a massive thing, all tulle and lace, and it spills over the counter like a waterfall, brushing the tiled floor in a soft whisper.
“Alexia,” you gasp, but it comes out half-laugh, half-moan as she shoves your legs apart, her hands rough but deliberate as they hike your dress up higher. There’s no room for subtlety here, not with the way she’s looking at you—eyes dark and ravenous, like she’s two seconds away from tearing through the fabric with her teeth.
“God, you’re so fucking beautiful,” she murmurs, almost to herself, as she presses her face into the bare skin of your thigh, inhaling deeply. The contrast between the roughness of her actions and the reverence in her voice sends a jolt of heat straight to your core. You bite your lip, trying to keep it together, but she’s already got you half-undone and she hasn’t even really started.
You reach down, tangling your fingers in her hair, and she looks up at you, her eyes locking with yours, and the intensity of her gaze alone is enough to make your breath hitch. She grins, that wicked, lopsided grin that always makes your stomach flip, and then she’s nudging your legs even wider, her hands gripping your thighs hard enough to leave marks.
“Keep quiet,” she warns, her voice low and dangerous, and before you can even think to argue, she’s pushing your underwear aside and pressing her mouth against you.
The first swipe of her tongue makes you see stars, and you have to bite down hard on your lip to keep from crying out. Her tongue moves in slow, deliberate circles, teasing you, building the heat inside you until you’re squirming against her, trying to get more, but she’s having none of it.
She’s torturing you, you realise, taking her time, drawing it out, because she knows you can’t make a sound, knows you’re trying so hard to keep quiet, and that’s exactly what she wants. Her fingers dig into your thighs, holding you in place as she works you over with her tongue, and all you can do is grab onto the edge of the sink, your knuckles white as you fight to keep your composure.
“Fuck,” you gasp, your voice eoigh and strained, but it’s enough to make her chuckle against you, the sound sending vibrations through your entire body.
You’re getting close now, your legs trembling as she speeds up, her tongue flicking against you with more urgency, more precision, and you can feel that familiar tension building in your core, winding tighter and tighter until you’re sure you’re going to snap. Your breath comes in ragged gasps, your chest heaving, and you’re trying so hard to keep quiet, but it’s getting impossible because she’s just so good at this and you’re so close, so close—
And then she pulls back, her breath hot against your slick skin, and you actually whimper, the sound escaping before you can stop it. “Please,” you breathe, your voice shaking with need. “Alexia, please”
She looks up at you, her lips glistening, her eyes wild with lust, and there’s a wicked smile playing on her face. “Say it again,” she murmurs, her voice dripping with power, with dominance, and you know she’s not going to give you what you want until you do.
“Please,” you beg, because you’re barely holding together. “Please”
She makes a satisfied sound low in her throat, then leans back in, her mouth latching onto you with renewed intensity, her tongue moving faster, more focused, and it’s too much, you can’t hold on any longer. You bite down on your lip to stifle your cry, your body convulsing as the orgasm rips through you, wave after wave of pleasure crashing over you, leaving you breathless and trembling in her arms.
She doesn’t stop, doesn’t let up until she’s wrung every last shudder from your body, and by the time she pulls back, you’re a panting, quivering mess, barely able to keep yourself upright on the sink.
She’s grinning up at you, looking impossibly smug, and it’s all you can do to glare at her weakly, trying to find some semblance of dignity. “You’re terrible,” you manage to say, though it lacks the conviction you were hoping for.
“Hmm,” she hums, clearly unconcerned by your accusation. She presses a kiss to the inside of your thigh, then another, softer one to your hip, and the contrast between her earlier roughness and this sudden tenderness almost makes you want to cry. “But you love me anyway”
You can’t argue with that. You reach down, your fingers brushing her cheek, and she leans into your touch, her eyes softening just a little as she looks up at you. “I do,” you whisper, your voice still shaky from the aftershocks of your orgasm. “God help me, I really do”
She laughs at that, a warm, rich sound that makes your heart swell in your chest. Then she stands, pulling you into her arms, and you bury your face in the crook of her neck, breathing in the familiar, comforting scent of her.
“Think they noticed we were gone?” you mumble against her skin, your voice muffled.
“Definitely,” she replies, and you can feel her grin against your hair. “But I doubt they’ll care”
You pull back, just enough to look at her, and she leans down to press a soft, lingering kiss to your lips. “We should get back,” she says when she finally pulls away, though neither of you make any move to leave.
“Yeah,” you agree, your voice tinged with reluctance. You glance down at your dress, now a little rumpled but still intact, and give her a wry smile. “You think anyone will say something?”
“Not a chance,” she replies, her voice full of that easy confidence you love so much. She brushes a stray strand of hair out of your face, her touch feather-light. “But even if they do, I don’t think they’ll want to know“
You laugh, the sound light and carefree, and press one last kiss to her lips before finally, reluctantly, slipping off the sink and adjusting your dress. Alexia helps you smooth out the wrinkles, her hands lingering on your waist longer than necessary, and when you’re finally presentable, she takes your hand in hers, lacing your fingers together.
“Ready?” she asks, her voice warm and full of love.
“Ready,” you reply, giving her hand a gentle squeeze.

The Birth Locations/Suitcase Reveal Sucks
before you read please don't take this too seriously, I don't have a problem with people who enjoy this reveal I just wish more people would consider/analyse this as I feel like it's very half-assed and not at all well thought out
I know I've written something like this before and i'm sorry to write this again, but I think my arguments have developed and I want to explain better why I hate this decision.
I am referring to this set of posters for season 3
as the stickers on the suitcases were revealed to be their birth locations by Jeff King (executive producer and director) on instagram
the actual answer to his question is "lila's sticker" but semantics/specifics who cares (me)
why I distrust the theory/trivia as a whole
something I think should be considered here is that this is the only confirmation of this piece of trivia.
another example of TUA trivia that has been confirmed by the creators is the statement by Blackman (god ik just ignore that part for now, that isnt the point of the post & he's still a/the creator) on a reddit AMA that Grace helped the siblings choose their names based on their birth countries
however, these are both poorly researched/prepared pieces of trivia because they blatantly contradict each other
Luther's birthplace is Sweden, but Luther isn't a Swedish name, nor was is popular in either 1989 when he was born or 2002 when he was first seen using his name.
Diego is always a fairly popular name in Spanish speaking countries like Mexico but it's hardly high on the list (only statistic I can find is ranked at 31.)
Allison is neither a South African name nor is it listed as it's top names.
Klaus is Germanic (kinda fits the theme) but as far as I can see Klaus is not a biblical name which is much more typical of the Amish. Klaus is also not listed amongst the top Amish names that I've seen.
Five obviously is an outlier here.
Ben is clearly not Korean, and while I have had fun discussing the roots of his name with others (Jae-min becoming Benjamin, and Bin becoming Ben) I don't think that there's any way that the creators will acknowledge this. Ben has origins in Hebrew and is not at all popular in Korea.
Vanya (the applicable name, as Viktor wasn't yet revealed) is a male name in Russia. it's female in other countries like Bulgaria, but not Russia. It's a nickname/evolution of the name Ivan. Vanya is also not a popular name in Russia, but Ivan does seem to be. And I seriously doubt that they're going to reveal that Viktor originally named himself Ivan while he was identifying as female and then decided to change his name anyway?
which is to say, the word of the creator cannot always be trusted/believed, because that's not necessarily what will be reflected in canon or by the other creators.
there is quite a history in fandom of creators not understanding the themes/plotholes of their own creations, so i'm a little stunned at how quickly everyone integrated this into their canon without a second thought.
i have arugments as to why these locations are bad choices for the characters, but first lets take a look at what i believe these stickers were meant to represent
Placing down a read more because this became huge.
what the other stickers reference/mean
it's no secret that i think the stickers were hints to the events (related to each character's arc) of season 3.
but before i get to that let's breakdown the rest of the stickers and their meanings:
all of the umbrella's have an umbrella sticker. Lila is the only one who doesn't (so if we're playing the "who is the odd one out" game then it still falls as Lila because she is the only one without the umbrella sticker)
Luther
Luther dies in Hotel Obsidian, and never makes it physically inside Oblivion or has any part in powering it - so his sticker has the colours/design of Obsidian.
Diego
Diego is one of/the first to discover Hotel Oblivion, so he has the Oblivion colours and logo.
Allison
Allison is involved in Reginald's plot to use Oblivion to reset thte universe, so gets Oblivion's logo instead of Obsidian.
Klaus
Klaus was the one to know and direct them to Hotel Obsidian, so he has that logo.
Five
Five's revelation that he was the Founder of the Commission, and the impact of that discovery, links him to the Commission more so than either hotel.
Viktor
viktor has the hotel Obsidian logo because he has very little impact on anything to do with Oblivion and is one of the votes that decides to remain and die in Obsidian.
Lila
Lila has the Commission because she was raised in the Commission, not the Umbrella Academy.
Lila has the Obsidian logo in opposition to Diego's Oblivion logo as she chooses the opposite of Diego (I personally believe they should have swapped these two but..)
why the birth locations are more likely/appropriate as hints for the events of season 3
Luther - Stockholm, Sweden
This is probably my strongest argument: He is made fun of for having "Stockholm Syndrome" within the show
found: Season 3, episode 3, minute 13.
Luther, obviously spends all of his character development/moments with the Sparrows and Sloane - being kidnapped by them and developing "Stockholm Syndrome" for Sloane (romantic) and for the Sparrows as a whole (platonic/idealism/escapism)
Luther's mother's newpaper cutting also mentions 911 being called, but 911 is not the emergency number of Sweden, 112 is. Argentina, Canada, Dominican Republic, Jordan, Mexico, Pakistan, Palau, Panama, the Philippines, Sint Maarten, the United States, and Uruguay use 911 but not Sweden.
If Monica wasn't in Sweden at the time of Luther's birth, then Stockholm is hardly his birth location.
throughout the seasons we get a few instances of Diego, Ben and Viktor speaking their native languages, hinting that the 7 were all taught their mother's languages (with Allison at least likely learning all 7)
But if Luther is Swedish, why didn't he or Diego know what Oga For Oga meant if that's Luther's mother's language? and why was Five the only person who seemed to understand Swedish when he's not the Swede of the family? Why did Diego not at least recognise his brother's supposed second language? Or Luther for that matter?
Luther was a part of the Academy for 23+ years, longer than anyone, yet Reginald (who expects the best of his children) didn't bother enforcing this as a part of his education? his number one had a worse education than his number 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7?
Diego - Mexico
Diego apparently doesn't even get the luxury of a city, place or region. But I can confirm that his mother's newspaper cutting states that he was born in a "small town in Northern Mexico".
However, Diego's sticker could instead be a reference to the Aztecs or Mayans - his sticker has mayan/aztec pyramids on it, I believe maybe Chichen Itza specifically?? Ancient civilisations that were very advanced for their time, and that are somewhat frequently involved in alien conspiracies.
Diego is one the one to open Oblivion when he removes the harpoon, and is the first to enter it and confront the Guardians.
Oblivion is an Ancient building/place built by an Ancient civilisation of what is assumed to be aliens, and Reginald (confirmed alien) is the one to have directed them into Oblivion at first as well.
Allison - Cape Town, South Africa
Nelson Mandela is pretty famous for his part in the anti-apartheid (segregation) movement, helping to end segregation in South Africa. He was jailed in a Cape Town prison for attempting to sabotage the pro-segregation government, and then later his office as president was located in Cape Town.
an easy connection to make with Allison's arc in season 2, and the significance of it in her arc in season 3, with her dealing with PTSD, grief over Ray, and feeling alienated by her family who didn't have the same experience as her in the 60s.
Allson's mother has nothing connecting her to South Africa outside of this, as far as I'm aware.
Klaus - Pennsylvania, USA
This one I will concede is about his birth location. But in this case, it's also heavily related to his season 3 arc, as he is the driving force of the mothers plotline and literally travels to Pennsylvania.
PA is a strong and relevant hint for his s3 arc.
Five - Dublin, Ireland
Five could be connected to Ireland in multiple ways.
(there is a link between Five and JFK, "the 1st Irish American President" but I can't see the link to s3 here so honorary mention only).
A link that I understand is a somewhat touchy topic for any Irish citizens is the stereotype of drunkeness in Ireland. While there have been studies to prove that Ireland doesn't drink more than other countries such as England, it remains a well-known stereotype and the Irish people are statistically more prone to alcohol dependency/addiction.
There is also the phrase "make it Irish" which means to put alcohol in a drink, one of the more popular drinks to do this to is coffee. Which brings us back to Five - he is known for his love of coffee and for getting spectacularly drunk.
season 3 in particular features his drinking addiction in it's full glory. it's also plot relevant as his drunkness causes the murder mystery setup of the final episodes.
(also, while it's not great to have Ireland be the hint to alcohol, it's also not great to have Five, the alcoholic of the series, be the Irish representation)
Another interpretation could be the root of the name "Dublin" meaning "black pool". It was likely derived from the River Poddle which would have been stained black with peat. This could be a hint towards Five's elusive role as the Founder, as his life so far has been stained with childhood abuse, the apocalypse and his foray as an assassin, making the reveal of the Founder a shock.
One other interpretation is the Irish vs. English. Five is perhaps the most skeptical of Reginald throughout season 3, moreso than even Luther or Diego. While England has enraged many countries, Ireland is one of the most well known for it's dislike of the English, and has a lengthy history of war and altercations with England. So Five's sticker may be a hint for his re-ignited distrust of Reginald. It also works well as a predictor for Five and Lila's (English) bathroom fight.
Five's mother's newpaper cutting has several contradictions to the Ireland, Dublin location. First and foremost being that she is cited as being from both a "small seaside community" and from "county clark".
There is no County Clark in Ireland, but there is a County Clare and a County Cork. However, County Clare is on the opposite side of Ireland to Dublin and County Cork is even farther away,
Dublin, as the Capital City, is also not a "small seaside community" by any stretch of the imagination.
And the Irish police would likely not be referred to as "provincial" but instead be called Gardaí or The Garda Síochána.
Viktor - Moscow, Russia
Moscow is seen in season 1, episode 1 very briefly as Reginald arrives to adopt Viktor. You can see both the Spasskaya Tower and St Basil's Cathedral. Viktor also speaks Russian, something that none of his siblings have demonstrated.
However, this is not actually Viktor's birthplace (if we believe that the props have canon information, as most argue that Diego is definately from Mexico due to his cutting stating his mother was in Northern Mexico, etc) as according to his book Viktor was born in "small town off the Southern coast of Russia".
Moscow is nowhere near the coast and is not exactly southern either, nor is it a small town. And while this isn't exaclty specified that the "small town" he visits is the place he was born, it wouldn't make much sense if it wasn't, as Viktor was able to track his mother down via newspaper articles about his birth.
Moscow could mean a lot of things for Viktor's arc:
it could be a reference to s1, ep1 but instead of his exact birth location, it could simply hint to his mother's country and toward Harlan's involvement in the mothers' deaths - and the long reach of his powers from America to Russia.
It could also be a hint to Viktor's significance as a much more involved and aware plot driver this season as Moscow is the politcal centre of Russia as its capital city.
It might also hint at his disconnect from his family (not being a part of the Academy and not understanding the hard decisions and necessary teamwork that come with it) causing tensions, as while Moscow is the political capital, Saint Petersburg is considered the cultural capital.
Plus Moscow's history as the capital works well as a parallel to his journey with his powers, and works as a hint to Viktor developing his powers with Harlan because Moscow also briefly lost its status as the capital to Saint Petersburg, possibly a parallel to Viktor, the most powerful of the Umbrellas, losing his powers to Reginald's drugs. Moscow was later restored as the capital, paralleling Viktor's regaining of his powers.
Lila - Berlin
Lila is nice and simple, she was considered the outlier by Jeff King anyway as her suitcase doesn't match her confirmed birth place (London), and instead is a pretty obvious hint to her time in West Berlin, Germany, with Trudy and Stan.
why i dislike the chosen locations as the birth locations
in general I think it's silly to choose almost all capital cities: Dublin, Moscow, Cape Town, Stockholm, Seoul..
I know these are populous places but there must have been some variation? (aside from Klaus, who has plot armour for this point due to his Amish origins, and Diego, who is the only non-capital city purely because he wasn't given the dignity of a named city/town/village)
it's also lazy writing (and i believe somewhat racist?) to have every sibling come from the country/continent you'd expect?
the latino is mexican
the black woman is african
the asian man is asian
the blonde haired/blue eyed man is scandinavian
even Klaus, Five and Viktor are all white men from predominantly white countries.
at least try to subvert expectations?
to an extent i understand that they were trying to incorporate the actors ethnicities with Justin having korean roots, and David being raised in mexico. But the only irish thing about Aidan is his surname, and Emmy has no known connection to South Africa. I'm also pretty sure Tom isn't swedish at all and Elliot isn't russian.
it's lazy, poorly planned and honestly highly questionable writing at best

Seven Sentence Sunday
Thank you for the tag, @paperstorm @sznofthesticks @carlos-in-glasses @lemonlyman-dotcom @actualalligator @anewkindofme @honeybee-taskforce @jesuisici33 💝
This is from the second chapter of my TK finds Carlos's favorite movie fic - which has been posted as of a few minutes ago -
“Babe, are you coming out here?” TK called, craning his neck to see what Carlos was doing. “Who are you texting?”
“Just Judd,” Carlos answered. “He asked if we were still coming to the thing this afternoon. I was gonna say probably not”.
“No don’t!” TK sat up, wishing he could get off the couch by himself. “I forgot that was today. I thought it was next week”.
“Well, it was next week last week,” Carlos pointed out. Judd and Grace were having everyone over for a barbecue/126 hang/Grace’s parents wanted to meet everyone/they had gotten a new play structure for Charlie for the backyard and Grace didn’t want Judd putting it up by himself.
“I still wanna go,” TK said. “I’ve never been to a play structure raising before”.
“A play structure raising?” Carlos repeated as he sat next to TK on the couch.
“It’s like a barn raising,” TK explained, “Only without the Amish people… and more respect for women”.
“I see”. Carlos nodded as he reached forward to thread his fingers between his husband’s. “But baby, you might find it a little bit difficult to play structure raise if you can’t put both feet on the ground”.
“Carlos”. TK pouted. “I know that I can’t help. But I want to go see everyone and hang out”.
“Baby”. Carlos’s hands migrated so one was resting on the back of TK’s neck and the other was combing through his hair. “I’m not trying to keep you from missing out. But you,” he tapped TK’s nose, “are a social butterfly at these kinds of things. Hell, I can think of Catan nights where you barely sit still”.
It's late - but open tag for anyone who hasn't shared and wants to 🫶

I am a modest observer, of a bedroom community, not far from the black waters, and ten original land contracts, that changed the topography, from Iroquois hunting land, into St. Lawrence County.
A graceful dawn quietly breaks, over a plain and holy landscape, taking me from Amish country, to the old Ogdensburg asylum. Notorious for a punitive history. and dangerous blue collar streets, paved in broken bootlegger dreams.
Black Waters

Rewatching TUA - 3x04 “Kugelblitz”
The scene where we finally see the mothers, blew my mind and along with the music it's one of my favorite scenes of this season.
But seeing it again made me want to look for similarities between them and their children... So based just on what we see in the scene and a few other things...
Monica (Luther's mom): She works in a company, seems to be giving a presentation, she gives me business woman vibes, strong and with leadership. She's tall, she wears baggy clothes, her coat reminds me of the S1 Luther coat.
Elena (Diego's mother): Her clothes and surroundings are yellow, which is a color that resembles joy and warmth. Which is something I feel Diego always looked for in Grace.
There's something about her cooking that reminded me of Grace offering those comforting pancakes to Diego in S1.
Victoria (Allison's Mom): She's a teacher, a profession related to children (that seems to be Allison's focus this season, getting back to her daughter). To be a teacher she must be an intelligent, patient and disciplined woman.
There's something about her dress that she also reminded me of Allison's dresses in S2. The simplicity of a beautiful life in Dallas with her husband.
Rachel (Klaus's mom): Rachel was Amish, I don't know much about them so I don't want to speculate, but she seems to me to be a simple, open and very spiritual person, which is probably why she was able to find peace after dying like that. In addition, the aura of kindness and calm that she emanates during the encounter with Klaus is something that resembles the personality that Klaus displays with his siblings on several occasions.
But it's also a contrast, Klaus used to live in luxury in S2 and usually always wears extravagant clothes unlike Rachel's simplicity.
Efa (Five's mom): The first thing I noticed about her was how small she is... She works as a butcher, which is not a job typically done by women, so I imagine her strong and stubborn, very sure of herself and of her convictions and very hard-working. Her surroundings, as well as her clothes, are quite neutral.
The use of the knife and the blood on her hands and clothes are a very entertaining nod to Five.
Tatiana (Viktor's mom): The first mother we met in S1. What I notice about her is how young she is... I wouldn't know if she's a swimmer or just in a class. But from the scene when Reginald arrives to take Viktor away in S1, she seems to me to be a simple young woman, a little shy (for the way she jumps into the pool after stealing a kiss from the guy) The contrast in the scene between the yellow colors in her clothes and the blue color in the surroundings is interesting, for what has been said, yellow resembles joy and energy, and blue, on the contrary, resembles sadness and the tranquility. Viktor is not necessarily a happy or sad person, he has his moments.
Moments in which he is the calm among the storm in the family but also the one who sets fire to shit.
Ben's Mom: We don't really know her name, she's probably the youngest of all the moms. In the scene on the train, we can see that she is carefree, playful, and seems to be in love. There's a softness about her that resembles Ben. She is surrounded by her family in the scene where Reginald arrives, and they seem protective of both her and baby Ben. Which also reminds me of the protectiveness that the Umbrella have over Brelly Ben.
The school uniform is probably the nod to Ben

finished umbrella academy season 3! i think i liked season two more, but it's like 2,3 and 1 for me. i think 1 like effectively sold the umbrella academy and hooked me in, but a lot of the characters are very boring and redundant.
like, klaus obviously never disappoints because klaus and neither does number five because he's driving forward so much of the action. vanya/ victor is interesting i guess but i genuinely liked the doughnut lady and the commission officers more than whatever was happening with the other characters (excepting ben i found him more interesting too). like allison and number one- oh right luther (had to search that up)- was not a good storyline and neither were diego and that police chick, like i found them so boring in s1. allison kind of grew on me but i honestly did not care about them, i liked grace and the monkey more.
in s2, allison grew on me like a LOT and so did luther but most of all diego! i think the scriptwriters kind of realised how redundant and boring he was in s1 and gave him so much personality, and i love lila. diego became one of my favourite characters. season 2 was what made me keep watching. ofc klaus was being klaus and amazing and perfect and chaotic as usual. love klaus.
s3- ok luther was... fine? in season 2. like his character i liked more in s2 then 1 for sure and i liked how they got rid of his weird sweet home alabama romance thing with allison. i just didn't like whatever his thing was with sloane, like idk. it felt so contrived and it wasn't realistic to me that sloane would just be so happy when her siblings were like all mostly dead. like the sparrows just had no awareness that their siblings were dead i think. it was a very weird season. would have been improved with more klaus for sure. definitely. i learnt about the amish for the first time though so that's a plus.
i really like ben. when ben died in s2, i was genuinely so sad. the s3 thing completely worked on me too and i really like sparrows ben too. klaus is still my favourite though.

We have been continuing our series in Jeremiah on Sunday mornings. This week, we reached Jeremiah 34-35Open in Logos Bible Software (if available) and encountered an odd little group called the Rechabites. Their primary concerns appeared to be not drinking wine, not dwelling in towns and living in tents. They were a strange separatist group who seem like the Amish, Bedouin and Temperance Movement all rolled into one! Their lifestyle was based on the 300-year-old command from their ancestor Jonadab that they staunchly kept up to the time of…

Before Josh Crockett was pastor of Grace Baptist, his father Leigh was the pastor. And before Leigh was pastor of Grace Baptist, Charles Donald Camp was the pastor. He started Indiana Christian Academy in 1973.
Everybody knows a Camp. There's Dondeena Camp Warren who is now over in the grand metropolis of Muncie.
Eastern Indiana is so tight. You're either Amish, Mennonite, or BJU-loyalist.
