Revelation 20: The Abyss, The Seal, and the Devil
Now that we have reached the Millennium, possibly one of the most famous passages in the whole of the New Testament after the Gospels, the categories change to Pre-, A-, and Postmillennial interpretations. #Revelation20 #TheMillennium
After reading through the first three chapters of Revelation, interpretation of this apocalyptic and prophetic document written two thousand years ago has fallen neatly into four categories: Historicist commentators see the fulfilment of Revelation carried out in church history. Preterist scholars see John’s Apocalypse as a word to those who lived through the destruction of Jerusalem—possibly…

Asking God for Discernment; The Desolation of Jerusalem, PT. 1
Eschatology is a divisive matter in our time because people disagree about so much, and we don’t really know how to have civil discussions. When talking about the end-times, people from every camp like to light their fires with Matthew 24. I’ll be upfront about what I think. I am postmillennial. Yet, I want to recognize that if all we do is try to use Matthew 24 as a defense of a position we hold…

There are people saying the tribulation starts Monday during the eclipse!
People say lots of things but the Scripture is sufficient. If you want to know anything with certainty about how the world will end, you need to start there. When you do, you will find that God's message to His people is not to get caught up trying to figure out the dates and times He chose for His own purposes (Acts 1:7).
When we get swept up in speculation and hype, we start setting our hopes on a date or some fallible wisdom from man instead of fixing our eyes on Christ. We are to always be ready for Christ to return at any time. The world is ripe for judgment and I am confident that God will do it, not because a youtuber said it's happening Monday, but because thus saith the Lord.
I believe you can come to a conclusion about the general sequence of events of the end times from what God has revealed in His Word, but He has very specifically said we will not know what those times are until they are actively happening. It's going to be unexpected like a thief in the night (1 Thess 5:2). Even if by some miracle of providence someone gets a date right, they can't say they knew it because God has not revealed it.
What we can know, at least based on what I have studied, is that the Tribulation cannot happen until 1) The restrainer of the Holy Spirit in the church is taken away (2 Thess 2:7), and 2) the man of lawlessness enters his 7 year covenant with Israel (Dan 9:27).
The organization of end times events is challenging to figure out. It's the study of last things, and like calculus, you have to have everything in the right order to come to the correct conclusion. I don't have it all figured out, but here are the promises of God I can trust and will proclaim from the roof tops until Jesus appears.
God will protect the Church from His wrath (1 Thess 5:9). We will not endure any of His judgment on the earth for their sin because our sin was paid for by Christ. Jesus will call for us, resurrect us, and meet us in the air (1 Thess 4:16-17).
All the evil we see in the world right now will be judged by God for eternity. Jesus will physically come as a conquering king to put an end to man's rebellion and wickedness and willing enslavement to Satan and his lies (Rev 19:11-16).
Jesus could come at any time, without delay. The only thing stopping Him from judging the world right now in fire is His own mercy and grace (2 Pet 3:9). This should inspire us not to twiddle our thumbs staring into the clouds waiting for Jesus to return, but to be about the task He assigned us, making disciples of all nations, inviting them to join His kingdom while He is still offering grace and their hearts are not hardened (Acts 1:11; Heb 3:13).

Last Things
Dispensational Premillennial Eschatology Believes in a literal interpretation of scripture, and the catching away of God’s heavenly people (the Body of Christ) to meet the Lord in the air, which occurs before the seven-year tribulation takes place. After the tribulation, Christ will return to rule the millennial kingdom for a (literal) 1000 years over his earthly people (Israel). Called…

Morning Headlines 4 of 5
by Jonathan Brentner | I love reading the book Proverbs, one chapter a day corresponding to the day of the month. This has been a part of my morning quiet times for many years. Even though the passages are familiar with many verses underlined, the Lord often provides new insights…

So...Pre-Millennialism, Post-Millennialism or Amillennialism?
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Catholics have to be pre-millennialists but I'm not positive and this issue isn't really something I put a whole lot of thought into. If I'm going to argue about timeframes and dating I prefer it to be about the Old Testament.

Revelation: Preparation for the Millennium
Apocalyptic literature becomes especially meaningful for those who are suffering. When the going gets rough, it helps to see the light at the end of the tunnel, to know the last page of this story ends well. #Millennium #SecondComing
We are poised to begin the last part of John’s Revelation. The Arc of Revelation Revelation: Over-Arching Story During the three cycles of increasingly catastrophic troubles and woes to be experienced at the end of human history, John is given a series of visions revealing spiritual battles in the heavenly realms. Angel armies crash together, and cast out the enemies of God. A pregnant woman…

Christian Hope and the Millennium
A Fresh Perspective We have a pretty interesting topic today—Christian hope and the concept of the Millennium, based on the Bible. Now, the term “amillennial” might sound a bit confusing at first. It might make you think that those who hold this view don’t believe in what Revelation 20 says about “the thousand years.” But that’s not true. People who are amillennial actually find a lot of value…

Chaos and Kingdom
In this 34th week of Ordinary Time, in the shadow of the Solemnity of Christ the King of the Universe, we have been reading from the Book of Daniel, a book used in conjunction with Revelation to conjure predictions of the end of the world… depending on whether you are post-millennial, pre-millennial, or amillennial…but then that is a topic for another post. Theological Systems and the New Creation Model
Dr. Mike Vlach talks about his new book, The New Creation Model, in which he discusses the New Creation Model and the Spiritual Vision Mode. How did these two paradigms have influenced interpreters for thousands of years? How do Dispensationalism and Covenant Theology understand the storyline of the Holy Scriptures? Do premillennialism, amillennialism, and postmillennialism reflect the New…
