Anne Rice's Personal Fancasts for The Vampire Chronicles
(Important Disclaimer: I gathered this together as a curiosity, not as a comment on any past, current, or future actors playing these characters, and if you feel the need to use any of this to make anything other than positive comments on any past, current, or future actors playing any of these characters, I don't agree with you and I don't endorse it, and I hope Lestat comes and yells at you about it in your dreams)
Looking for her thoughts on a few things from her novels, I stumbled upon the weird fact that Anne Rice has a huge digital footprint of which actors she at some point had as her own mental image or ideal casting of her characters. I've collected as much as I could, and so, for fun, here they are! Unless otherwise specified, these were all posted on Facebook between 2009 and 2018.
Lestat
Tumblr media
General Comments:
He is a "man", not a "boy"
He's a "big guy, quite tall and strong" (she emphasized this a lot)
He should be a guy in his late 20's so the actor doesn't change too much and can play a 250 year old immortal
He could be played by an unknown
He should not have dark hair or a five o'clock shadow
He should be good looking, because "Lestat's beauty is part of him, part of his self-assurance, his arrogance, his confidence and his seductive power"
First actor she thought looked like Lestat: a young Rutgar Hauer
Actors She Specifically Suggested
Chris Hemsworth (Mentioned at least x 3, said when she watched movies with him she could only see him as Lestat)
Richard Armitage (Mentioned at least x 3)
Anson Mount (Mentioned at least x 2)
Stephen Amell (Mentioned at least x 2)
Charlie Hunnam
Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ
Leonardo Dicaprio (late 90's, mentioned at least x 2)
Actors She Responded Positively to Being Suggested
Travis Fimmel
Harry Lloyd
Wes Bently (2000, was apparently considered for Queen of the Damned)
Louis
Tumblr media
General Comments
Mentioned the idea of Louis and Nicholas being played by the same actor
Originally inspired by actor Alain Delon
Actors She Specifically Suggested
Matt Bomer (Mentioned at least x 7, mentioned a lot outside of fancasting, she was really in love with Matt Bomer)
Richard Armitage
Hugh Dancy
Marius
Tumblr media
General Comments
"At least 40"
She did not care if he wasn't blonde (see her suggestions below for why)
Actors She Specifically Suggested
Matthew MacFayden (Mentioned a least x 7 but I eventually stopped counting)
Gary Oldman (late 90's)
Actors She Responded Positively to Being Suggested
Paul Bettany
Armand
Tumblr media
General Comments
Has to be someone in his 20's (also specified 25 or 30), a "baby faced man, a boyish man"
Actors She Specifically Suggested
Simon Woods (Mentioned at least x 2)
Johnny Depp (Late 90's)
Gabrielle
Tumblr media
General Comments

Judy Davis (late 90's)
Eva Green
Actors She Responded Positively to Being Suggested
Claire Danes
Evan Rachel Wood
Kirsten Dunst
Akasha
Tumblr media
General Comments
Should be played by a black actress in tribute to Aaliyah's performance in Queen of the Damned being such an entry point for black fans of the series

I feel like I’m going crazy because I keep on seeing people fantasy cast actors in their 30s for Marius and I just assumed he would be aged up since our main vamps were. Why is everyone seeing him as looking the same age as Lestat? I just think a lot of the story would fall flat if he appears to be mid 30s or even mid 40s. This goes for his mentor-relationship with Lestat, but more so for his relationship with Armand. What are your thoughts?
Also, I have a Lestat query. Second season made me Armand obsessed but when I first saw season 1, I was initially intrigued by Lestat. When I first watched season one I had not yet read the books. I read through TVA in between seasons. So when season 1 episode 5 happened, I didn’t feel any certain way. I chalked it up to gothic storytelling. Having now read the books and getting a better idea for who Lestat is, I can now understand why people were/still are very upset by it. But I’ve even seen non book readers extremely upset by it, which I can understand to a degree. It’s pretty atrocious what he does. But it seems to have made non book readers hate hate hate Lestat to a degree that is rather unfortunate. It seemed in season two the writing was trying to soften it a bit with his, what I felt was heartfelt apology during the trial and their reunion scene. But it’s been clear to me there is a large contingent of fans who still LOATHE him, point blank. I’ve always seen this show as an ensemble piece, but it’s clear Lestat will take center stage next season. Do you think the writers will succeed in getting people to appreciate Lestat and want to hear his story and sympathize with him or did episode 5 do more damage than intended to how his character will be perceived going forward?
I don't think the writers need to "get" people to like Lestat - I think Lestat is liked plenty already. :)
There is just this very loud but actually not that large subset of the fandom (believe me, once you block a bunch you realize just how few they actually are!) who are applying their morality olympics to this character because of 1x05, and who refuse to follow the shifts in the tale - of which we had some, and of which there will be more.
That's, ultimately, gonna be their problem.
The show follows the books. The shift to Lestat was always set to come.
Season 3 will be make or break for a lot of the old fans still around I think. Because it's not only Lestat who is "not Anne's Lestat", by Sam's own words - we'll also have the introduction of Gabrielle and Marius (likely) as well as Akasha (also likely I think) next season, and those characters will need to land.
Episode 5 did damage the fandom and the story - it brought in elements for an arc that is in Rolin's head imho, namely the Amel awakening arc already, thereby, due to the way they did it, destroying some of the arcs in the books - and THAT will have repercussions through all that follows.
Because there are arcs in the books. Arcs of self-acceptance, and mourning, and grief.
I know there's this huge discussion on Twitter rn re show!Claudia not having to die - and you know? They're right! Show!Claudia would not have needed to die - her fate was not as inevitable as her book counterpart's was. And yes, of course one can point and say: "Claudia had to die because Michele died, and that is why IWTV exists and why she had to die in the books"... but ... and in order to fix why she had to die, he went and chipped at other arcs/relationships, here most notably Louis/Armand and Louis/Lestat - and Lestat/Armand.
The relationships will never be the ones in the books because of those changes.
Nonetheless - they are doing the books. In their own way.
And - to get back to your initial comment :) - even in the books Marius was older than 30 :))
I do hope that both Gabrielle and Marius will be over 50, tbh. The Dark Gift rejuvenates, yes, but not that much, and the actors do have to be older than Lestat :))
In fact, I could easily see the casting for those three (Gabrielle, Marius and Akasha) being the reason for the delay in filming... because, as said - these three HAVE to hit.
But, given Rolin's hand at casting... I'm actually not too worried :)

Did some research on the last names of different origins in DA:O
The human origins Cousland and Amell are both real-life last names.
According to forebears.io, the surname of Cousland is of local origin from Cousland in the parish of Cranston, Midlothian, Scottland. The records of this surname can be traced back to the 13th century.
Since Ferelden is based on Britain, using Cousland as the human noble origin’s family name seems pretty suitable.
The human mage, Amell, is a surname of Catalan origin in real life. The Amell-Hawke family’s default appearances in DA2 do looks kind of Hispanic, and they are a noble house of Kirkwall, while the Free Marches are based on Mediterranean areas, it makes sense.
As for the elves, I can’t find the Dalish origin Mahariel in real-life, and the closest thing I found is the great-great-grandson of Adam and Eve, Mahalalel, in the Hebrew Bible. According to abarim-publications.com, the name Mahalalel means “Praise of God” in Hebrew.
City elf origin Tabris make me think of the famous real-life city Tabriz, Iran.
And according to Potential Wardens Wiki, Tabris is Greek, meaning bull/ox, or Arabic, meaning revealed/arisen, or Hebrew, meaning free will/hand of God.
The search of the word Tabris itself leads me to Neon Genesis Evangelion, where Tabris is the 17th and final Angel, considered the Angel of free will. Most of EVA’s angel’s names seems to be of Hebrew lore origin, although I haven’t found the primary source of the name Tabris.
(I basically know nothing about EVA, so anyone who’s in that fandom please correct me if I made any mistake and I greatly welcome any supplemental information)
So, maybe the elves are kind of Hebrew/Jews coded in DAO? But the elf mage Surana jumps out of this rule. Surana in real-life is a caste in Rajasthan, India. It belongs to royals of Rajasthan and follower of Maa Suswani (temple at Sindhu Morkhana 50 kilometer from Bikaner). Earlier this community was known for their bravery. They are Oswal Jains followers of Jainism. (Source: forebears.io)
I basically can’t find any real-life information related to dwarf origins. Brosca is a last name with small population in Italy, while I assume Aeducan is just a made-up name following the tradition of dwarven names that are hard and make you think of stone, which can be traced back all the way to Tolkien.
However, when I searched the default given name of the female dwarf noble (because she’s my canon warden!), Sereda, I found out that it and its variations are quite popular surnames in Slavic countries including Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Poland, etc.
Sereda means 'Wednesday' or 'middle' in the Ukrainian language, which is an interesting coincidence (I don’t think it’s deliberate since the male default name Duran is just a classic Tolkien-style dwarf name), since the dwarf noble origin is indeed the middle child.

1, 11 and/or 16 for Nessa from the Rook Thorne asks :)
Thank you so much for the questions! For anyone wondering, the post in question is here.
Why did your Rook join the Wardens? How long have they been in the order?
Nessa joined the Order to escape her mother; she was originally born as Nessa Ferald, daughter to Duria Ferald who had ambitions of bringing their House back from extinction and restoring them to their proper place in Orzammar's nobility. She was an incredibly controlling woman who allowed Nessa very little freedom, and Nessa's father was involved in his life but also kept his distance. At eighteen, Nessa happened to meet Warden Thorne, who was on their way to the Deep Roads for their Calling, and she begged them to take her to the Wardens. Thorne agreed, and the rest is, as they say, history.
Nessa was 18 when she joined the Wardens and is 30 during the events of Veilguard, so she's been a Warden for 12 years. She won't live to se 50 and she's made her peace with that; at least it was her choice.
11. Does your Rook consider any other wardens their personal hero?
Outside of Evka and Antoine, Nessa has a great deal of respect and admiration for her recruiter Warden Thorne. They took her out of Orzammar, made sure she survived her Joining, and mentored her to improve her archery skills so she could fight against darkspawn and win. They ended up delaying their Calling an additional two years to make sure she could handle herself, and when they ultimately can ignore it no longer she accompanies them to the Deep Roads for a final farewell.
There's also her Warden partner Oliver Amell, who she loved dearly. Unfortunately, he was one of the mages who died during the events of Adamant and it takes years after his loss for Nessa to consider opening her heart to anyone again, though she's more than willing to share her body with anyone who catches her eye.
16. What did your Rook think about the Cauldron?
I wish I could say Nessa was shocked, but... I think more than anything, it made her incredibly sad. She knew how far Wardens were willing to go from witnessing Adamant, but to see another example of it this time causing the griffons to pay the price just got to her in a way I don't think she was expecting. Yes, Wardens are willing to do whatever it takes to stop a blight, but then they have to figure out how to live with the consequences and seeing this hidden... it just made her sad. The griffons deserved better.

Opposing protests took place in the southern German city of Munich on Sunday following a deadly car-ramming attack that killed two people and rekindled a debate on deportations just days before a nationwide election.
On Thursday, a 24-year-old Afghan national drove a car into a trade union demonstration in Munich, injuring at least 39 people, some seriously. A 37-year-old woman and her 2-year-old daughter died on Saturday as a result of their injuries.
Investigators in the state of Bavaria currently assume that the crime had an Islamist motive, based on statements made by the driver after his arrest.
The far-right anti-migrant Alternative for Germany (AfD) staged a vigil on Munich's central square Königsplatz on Sunday, a few hundred metres from the scene of the attack.
Those opposed to exploiting the attack for political purposes held their own demonstration opposite the AfD gathering. Police put the number attending the AfD vigil at 70, and the demonstration at 600.
Around 50 counter-protesters formed a human chain to prevent AfD supporters from laying flowers at the site of the attack, police said.
Footage showed police then using force on several people, as witnesses also reported. Police said they briefly detained eight people for offences against a ban on wearing masks and an attempt to cause bodily harm to police officers.
In a statement published by the Munich authorities on their official website earlier on Sunday, the family of the woman and child had appealed for the attack not to be used to foment hatred.
"Amel was a person who worked for justice," the statement said, emphasizing that she had been active in seeking rights for workers and in promoting solidarity and equality.
Amel, who was born in Algeria and came to Germany at the age of 4, had been opposed to xenophobia and had wanted to pass these values on to her daughter, Hafsa, the statement said.
Bavarian premier calls for negotiations with Taliban on deportations
The political debate in the aftermath of the attack centred on the issue of deportations, with Bavarian Premier Markus Söder calling for immediate negotiations with the Taliban on deportation flights to Afghanistan.
"A flight is needed every week," Söder told the Sunday edition of Germany's Bild newspaper. Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Interior Minister Nancy Faeser should speak directly to the Taliban about deportation flights from Monday, he said.
Söder said there are almost 2,000 Afghans in the state of Bavaria alone who are required to leave Germany. Almost 200 of them are serious offenders, he added.
"Afghans obliged to leave the country must do so quickly, and the issuance of new visas [for Afghans] must be stopped for the foreseeable future," the conservative premier said.
"First Aschaffenburg, now Munich: Enough is enough. Germany needs an emergency plan for Afghanistan," he said, referring to another attack committed by an Afghan national in a different Bavarian city in January, which left two people dead.
According to the authorities, the alleged perpetrator of the attack in Munich was legally resident in Germany.
A court judgement rejecting his asylum application from October 2020 showed that he is said to have lied about his escape story. However, Munich city issued a toleration decision in April 2021 and granted the man a residence permit in October of the same year.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Saturday said the man will be deported after serving his sentence. "Anyone who does something like this must expect the harshest penalties," he said.
The first deportation flight from Germany to Afghanistan since the Taliban took power three years ago took place in August 2024. It transported 28 convicted criminals who had received deportation orders back to their home country.
Faeser emphasized after the attack in Munich that deportations to Afghanistan would continue. However, such flights are difficult to implement as they require cooperation with the Taliban, either directly or indirectly via neighbouring countries.
The Taliban expressed openness to cooperating on deportations in the wake of the attack in Munich, but demanded a consular presence in Germany in return. "We have shown our willingness to resume consular services for Afghans in Germany that cover all aspects of migration," Taliban Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi told dpa.
Critics have warned in the past against such talks with the Islamist Taliban, which is isolated internationally. The Taliban could benefit from deportations by using them as an opportunity to work with a Western state, they warn.
Parliamentary committee to hold special session
The internal affairs committee of the German Bundestag, or lower house of parliament, is planning to hold a special session this week to find out more about the background to the attack and the ongoing investigation.
The meeting is expected to be held on Wednesday, according to members of the committee, but the time has not yet been set.
The leaders of the parliamentary groups received initial information about the case in a telephone conference from the Interior Ministry.
"Despite the perpetrator's statement during the interrogation, the question of motive remains the focus of attention," Martina Renner, an expert on domestic policy from The Left party, said.
Due to the particular significance of the case, the Federal Prosecutor General has taken over the investigation.

Latest Published Fic Opening Lines
Rules: post the beginning lines of your most recent 10 published fanfics, then attempt to tag 10 people!
All of these are from exchanges and/or fandom big bangs, which honestly I love.
More Cookies, Please Female Inquisitor/FOC; G
The signs are simple, but Kháeis practiced them over and over. She can’t say why it feels so monumental, this specific, fairly mundane interaction. It’s not as though they haven’t signed before, although this is the first time she is attempting it without Bella to interpret.  First, she pinches the fingers of both hands together and touches the tips: more.
...And All Seven Archdemons Male Warden & Kieran, Male Warden/Morrigan; G
Kieran is a serious child. Doubtless the old god soul has something to do with that, but honestly, given his solitary upbringing and his parents’ demeanors, who would expect otherwise? A solemn and thoughtful little boy, wise beyond his years, but still only a little boy. A sensitive, softhearted little boy, who still sometimes wants his papa in the wee hours of the morning.
Drowning Blackwall/Female Inquisitor; G
Rowan moves like water. Yielding, subtle, to fill the space she’s been allotted, but steadily wearing away at the limits, the constraints forced upon her. Blackwall took one look at her, a tiny thing hacking away with the too-big sword some idiot had burdened her with, and thought to himself, I will follow you anywhere.
not with a bang, but with a whimper Female Amell/FOC (unrequited); T
“Hold still.” “I am holding still.” “No, you're not.” Long, thin fingers slither around the back of her neck, palm flat against the ridges of her spine. There’s weight to the hold, weight belied by the willowy grace of that hand. There's power to it, the promise of magic thrumming just below the skin, and there's command to it, command given by a woman used to being obeyed. And Scarlet wonders, briefly, if this is how she dies.
Love Letter to a Templar one-sided FOC/FOC; T (also check out the companion fic, Crushing Realisations, by librarypirate!)
Dear Ser Lux [too informal?] To Knight-Ensign Lux, [ugh that sounds so stiff] My Dear Lux [ABSOLUTELY NOT]  Ser Lux,
Killing In Kirkwall, Season 2, Episode 8: The Kirkwall Avenger Merrill & Isabela & Aveline; NR
Host 1: Greetings, all, and welcome to Killing in Kirkwall: the number one most downloaded true crime podcast in Thedas.  Host 2: Except for Twisted Treviso.  Host 1: Oh, right. Host 2: And Dead in Denerim. Host 1: Well, their numbers are a bit inflated-- Host 2: And there’s also-- Host 1: Thank you, Daisy, I think they get it. [intro music: the tune could be described as “a sweet lullaby” if not for the fact it is 1) in a minor key, and 2) wordless, and 3) sung in the high, clear, echoing voice of a young, creepy child.]
Sweater Weather Alistair/Female Warden; E
She fits like a sweater. As soon as the comparison comes to mind, Alistair realizes two things: 1) he will never again be able to put on a sweater without getting hard; 2) more importantly, that’s the stupidest possible thing to think right now.
Wildflowers in a Blight Irving/Greagoir; G
We have only been wrong once. It was, oh, 50 years ago by the moral reckoning. It was a double Harrowing night, a gift the old Knight-Commander used to give to us, unawares. We don’t remember the first apprentice’s name. Vetsa? Vella? Powerful by mortal measures, and doomed to fail from the start. If Rage had any self-respect, they would’ve left her to someone else.
So You've Survived the Joining!: A Practical Guide to the Grey Warden Life Gen; M with art by the amazing @serial-chillr!
Greetings, Warden! You've survived the Joining! Congratulations/Condolences! Now that you've finished throwing up (for now), we bet you have questions. Many questions. And we bet that so far you've only heard gloomy tidings and at least one person dying in agony. You're terrified, you're exhausted, and nobody is giving you straight answers. Don't worry, we're here to help!
Spilling Tea Rylen/OFC; G
Rylen was ambushed after breaking his fast. Opposing forces attacked from the flanks and were on him almost before he realized it, overrunning his defenses as if they were nonexistent. He’d tried to resist—Andraste preserve him, he had thrown everything he had into resisting—but he was outmatched. The smell of sugar... ...the delicate lines of pink frosting... ...it was a beautiful little cake they had offered him as bait, and Maker curse him, he had taken it.
I'm not 100% sure if all of you actually write fic, but I'm tagging @mrs-theirin, @keirou-kun, @atomictourists, @librivore42, @dilf-din and anyone who would get joy from it.

Hi I am about 90% sure I'm asking the right snek tumblr but I follow like. fifty of you. Do you know what X% PH means when it's about morphs? Like I'll see something like idk 50% PH albino and what does that MEAN I've tried to look it up but have found nothing, possibly because I'm searching the wrong terms but who knows.
Anyway. Hope you have a lovely day :)
Hey friend!
PH means "possibly heterozygous," and the percentage is about how possible the heterozygous-ness is.
This comes up when you have one or both parent snakes who are known to be heterozygous for a recessive trait, but it's not certain whether or not their offspring are het since it's not visible. This isn't an arbitrary number nor a guarantee of genetics, it's just a statistical probability that the snake is carrying that gene.
For example, let's say you are breeding two wild-type corn snakes and one is het for the recessive Amelanistic gene. The babies will have a 50/50 chance of inheriting the Amel gene, but they would also be het since they can only get one copy of the trait from the one parent who carries it. Since you can't see a heterozygous recessive trait, all of the babies would be listed as 50% possibly heterozygous for Amelanism, or 50% PH Amel.
If both parents are het for Amel and neither are homozygous, statistically about 1/4 of the babies would be homozygous visual Amel, 2/4 would be heterozygous Amel wild-types, and 1/4 would be of the babies would be wild-types with no heterozygous traits at all. Percentage-wise, the wild-type babies would be 66.667% PH Amel.
Of course, nature doesn't exactly adhere to statistics, so any time you see "PH" consider it a possible bonus or advisement, but not a guarantee of genetics.
I hope that helps!

Leonarda Amell will be 50+ years old by the time of DATV. I love her cursed timeline so much.
She is married to the divine Victoria herself but she was once in love with the mage who rebelled against the chantry and almost destroyed the ferelden circle of magi. The mage who killed the grand cleric of Kirkwall was her fwb and childhood friend. She allowed him to desert from the wardens for old times sake. Her sister named her son after the said fwb who also happened to marry her cousin. They have a daughter who looks uncomfortably like her while she won't be able to have children due to the warden taint and her age. Her cousin, the champion of Kirkwall, avoids her because she looks like his dead mother. In another timeline she died during Uldread's rebellion and that's why Anders dies inside every time he looks at his own daughter. His last conversation with Leonarda before her death was her calling him a dickhead with moral backbone of a chocolate eclair. She almost broke up with the future divine because she didn't vibe with Justinia's desire to force the mages back into the circles. She felt bad for Leliana losing her mentor figure but at the same time was really glad the old bitch finally died. Her life literally can't become worse than it already is. Her only friend was left to die in the fade. She can't function without vodka. She's a very devoted andrastean and a blood mage. I think the Maker hates her personally.

Elizabeth Hawke was born and raised in Ferelden, as the oldest daughter of Malcolm and Leandra Hawke. When she was still very young, her magic manifested and soon, the family began to move around, as they had two mages in the family.
Growing up, Elizabeth was a really happy child and she was extremely close to her father, especially after her magic manifested. She struggled with nightmares a lot as a child, along other sleeping issues that she eventually dealt with thanks to Malcolm.
When she was 6, Leandra gave birth to twins Carver and Bethany, and Elizabeth had a big role in helping raise them. When she was 10, she killed a templar which led the family to move once again. She was closer to Bethany as she helped her sister with her magic.
It's when they arrived in Lothering that Elizabeth begans developing a more charming personality, as she soon figured that saying the right thing to the right person could get her out of trouble, or get them to do what she wanted. Becomes really good at lying and flirting, and basically begins masking who she really is.
Malcolm dies on her 21st birthday, and Elizabeth becomes the head of the family. This is also when she begins repressing a lot of her feelings.
When Carver comes back from Ostagar, he brings a Mabari with him, named Barkspawn. The family immediatly leaves Lothering as the hoard approaches.
Post DA2:
After the Chantry explosion, Elizabeth helpes Anders hide for a time before bringing him to Ferelden, as he reunites with the Warden-Commander. She continues to go from place to place with Fenris to avoid the Chantry, learning how to shape shift along the way as a way to hide better, until she goes to Skyhold.

so I am home and I feel like listing all my muses ages across the games. Undercut to save your dashes. Starting with my four heroes then going in age order. Color coded to match the game they're from (DAO, DA2, DAI, DAV). (these are rough ages, of course, based on the age they would've turned that year.) (Also this is based on VG starting in 9:52.)
Name DAO DA2 End DAI Age DAV Age
Eliana Mahariel 19 26 30 41
Atena Hawke 24 31 35 46
Rajmahel Lavellan 17 24 28 39
Ogden Thorne 15 22 26 37
Hildegard Cadash 28 35 39 50
Dazbo Amell 25 32 36 47
Dimetrea Brosca 25 32 36 47
Selena Porter 25 32 36 47
Seigfried Trevelyan 24 31 35 46
Arik Tabris 23 30 34 45
Lir Cousland 23 30 34 45
Katarina Anhalt 22 29 33 44
Sergio di Vasco 21 28 32 43
Idrilla Lavellan 20 27 31 42
Sasha Fritz 20 27 31 42
Zoria Amell 20 27 31 42
Vincentius Titus* 18 25 29 40
Aurora Amell 17 24 28 39
Inatar Adaar 15 22 26 37
Shamut Adaar 15 22 26 37
Elera Lavellan - 4 8 19
Notes:
*Vincentius is not necessarily tied to any game, but could be utilized in Veil.guard settings.
** Mathras is an ancient elf, he's old af
***Fenvir is the son of Solas and Idrilla and he was born at the end of 9:43 ish, because I hc DA.I starts at the beginning of 9:41 and ends at the end of 9:42. He'd be about 9 years old in Veil.guard.

Regarding future season structure, I do see the show moving away from a narrated format after TVL but I do hope we get some flashbacks of other characters (not full seasons) bc I do hope we get some TVA moments and if they are doing past DM🤞. And Marius.. hate him or love him he is an interesting character.
I know they keep calling S3 TVL and I might be wrong but I got the sense that they are doing TVL/QOTD at the same time with TVL as the focus for S3. Tbh I always thought of both books like a duology bc they go together so well.
I'm torn on TVL being one or two seasons bc I do think there will be some pushback if past Lestat takes up more than 50% of the season. I am not downplaying Lestat's popularity but if Louis is missing for more than 50% of the season? Yeah won't be a good look. I also don't really see the show going back and showing too many previously established scenes from Lestat's pov in Nola.
So imo it makes sense to me to stretch TVL to two seasons but to also do QOTD as the current story going on at the same time.
Either way I'm beyond excited bc I love both books.
Arguably, I think they have already started on QotD (in combination with Amel, imho). Because we have the ever increasing vampire population, the "great conversion". "Those who must be kept" have been named, several times, the importance of the blood of Akasha has been pointed out.
TVL and QotD were always a story that went together, and I am not sure how much episodes they will give us, but I do think TVL will end on the show with the same cliffhanger the book does: namely Akasha coming in and kidnapping Lestat right after the (a) last? concert - and worse here, I think it will be from Louis' arms.
S3 will not contradict or reshow all of S1&2. TVL doesn't do that either. And the season 3 press release has been clear:
“In season three, resentful of the perfunctory portrayal in the trashy bestseller ‘Interview With The Vampire,’ the Vampire Lestat sets his story straight in a way only the Vampire Lestat can—by starting a band and going on tour. Gabrielle. Nicholas. Magnus. Marius. Those Who Must Be Kept. They join Louis, Armand, Molloy, Sam, Raglan, Fareed and others we can’t tell you about yet on a sexy pilgrimage across space, time and trauma.”
There will be Louis. Of course?! The show is built on Loustat. But we are not on IWTV anymore. This has also been stated:
"Sam worked really hard for two years as a supporting actor, and I think Jacob is very excited to do the same thing for him, and put Sam front and center," Jones tells EW. "We've just scratched the surface with Sam, who's an incredible actor."
To repeat in what I said in my recent PSA (reblog): I don't care about actual screentime percentage. Or top billing, or whatever. They said they would keep Jacob and they better(!).
IWTV was Louis' story, narrated by him. TVL, QotD, TtotBT are all narrated by Lestat (for the most part). That will reflect, but I also think that there is no way we will not have a LOT of Louis in the story.

Allah Teâlâ âyet-i kerîmede buyuruyor:
•Eşref-i mahlûkat olduğunun,

Hey by the way, what basically inspired me to do my in character journal for Stellan (and over all just a lot of my choices for him) was the fic Accursed Ones of AO3.
It’s Dragon Age Awakening and Dragon Age 2 from Anders’ perspective with accompanying side stories from other characters perspectives. It’s extremely good and interesting (though I don’t agree with all the headcanons and ships). Either way, it inspired me a lot, specifically their Warden Amell. Plus throughout the story, Amell has a journal and a grimiore which we see bits and pieces of, which helped me figure out somewhat what I wanted to do for the journal.
I greatly recommend it, but know that I cried for like 20 chapters straight (30-50 I believe) and it’s still being updated. Fantastic read so far though.
(Really struggling to link it so I’m sorry, but looking up Accursed Ones by TheThirdAmell on AO3 should work)

OC(s) Questionnaire
Tagged by @greypetrel - and her characters are just beautiful, so I'd highly recommend to hop on her blog and read her version :> 💜 Thanks for the tag!
Tagging: maybe @coloricioso could be interested? No pressure as usual ✨ +plus anyone who is interested!
Everything under "Read more" after the first one, of course.
Tumblr media
NAME: Gwydion Hawke
NICKNAME: Hawke, of course - the firstborn can take dibs on the family surname. And then Gideon, since 1. that's how most people misspell his actual name and 2. Varric uses it in his stories (it's “more suited for the hero”). He doesn't mind.
GENDER: Male, although he takes it easy. In a modern AU he would be the Hakwe sibling most likely to experiment with gender presentation - and in every universe he just knows he'd look good in a dress/corset.
STAR SIGN: Libra
ORIENTATION: Gay
NATIONALITY/ETHNICITY: Literally a random human born on a ship – 100% conceived in Kirkwall though.
FAVORITE FRUIT: All the citruses
FAVORITE SEASON: Early Spring
FAVORITE FLOWER: Forget-me-not, snowdrops, zagare (orange blossoms).
FAVORITE SCENT: Crushed elfroot, rain, lyrium potions - and why must lyrium be toxic when it clearly smells like raspberries and tangerines? UH? Templars are gatekeeping it. He is literally the only one saying this. At some point he’ll think fondly of sewage.
COFFEE, TEA, OR HOT CHOCOLATE: Tea, preferably cold.
AVERAGE HOURS OF SLEEP: Around 7, but not consecutive.
DOGS OR CATS: Dogs AND cats AND also every single animal willing to be pet - why would you deny a centipede some love? And did anyone actually tried to raise a baby dragon? Cowards.
DREAM TRIP: Antiva, or Rivain – it sounds fun, from Isabela’s stories, and he is intrigued by their religious customs (and generally different approach to magic). Not without 50+ SPF though, have you seen Anders' skintone?
NUMBER OF BLANKETS: Just a few, he doesn’t particularly suffer the cold – and he’s a cuddly sleeper.
RANDOM FACT: Extremely tactile, hands must be occupied (almost) all the time. He makes his own bows and then whittle silly little figurines with the scraps of wood - usually they all end up looking like chunky animals of debatable identification.
Tumblr media
NAME: Maren Hawke
NICKNAME: Mari (used only by selected people – Bethany can, Carver may or may not find nettles in his bed the next day) and various epithets by Varric (he finds her difficult to pin down, to his extreme annoyance). When she’ll get into Kirkwall’s politics people will start to call her Lady Amell, to everyone amusement.
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Official not-so-mean lesbian
STAR SIGN: Scorpio
NATIONALITY/ETHNICITY: Human, born in Ferelden, even if she doesn’t feel a strong national connection to it.
FAVORITE FRUIT: Pears, quince, pomegranates
FAVORITE SEASON: Autumn and Winter
FAVORITE FLOWER: Wild violets, daisies
FAVORITE SCENT: Parchment and ink, ambergris, wild roses’ oil, metal.
COFFEE, TEA, OR HOT CHOCOLATE: Black coffee in public, hot chocolate with lots of spices (and something sweet to eat on the side) in more private settings.
AVERAGE HOURS OF SLEEP: Better not to ask. Around 5, to avoid dreaming – she will slowly get better during the years.
DOGS OR CATS: Birds, obviously.
DREAM TRIP: For political reasons, all the cities of the Free Marches. And Weisshaupt/the Anderfels to pester the Wardens about griffin’s eggs – because what Merrill wants, Merrill gets.
NUMBER OF BLANKETS: At least 4, because half of them will be stolen by Merrill during the night.
RANDOM FACT: Does she care about fashion? Not particularly, but she is highly aware of the power of appearences, and how to convey certain messages through clothes. She prefers small and significant jewelry over flashy one, but absolutely loves a nice statement headpiece, especially with some kind of drapery or veil – so she can literally put behind a curtain annoying people with a subtle turn of her head.
Tumblr media
NAME: Malva Surana
NICKNAME: Irving’s pet, Surana, debatable variations on her name when Jowan wanted to be annoying – after the Circle, she is just Malva and then the Warden Commander.
GENDER: Do you have a gender if the circumstances of your birth make you less than a person in the eye of society? Ahaha, anyway, female.
ORIENTATION: Very queer - preference for women, but willing to experiment for the sake of it, if she fancies so. In another world, her and Gwydion would be the monsterfuckers, let’s be real.
STAR SIGN: Aquarius
NATIONALITY/ETHNICITY: Definitely a city elf (the tattoos are random lines, made by someone who wanted her to remember but had no idea how a vallaslin really looks like, or how and when they are done) – maybe from Denerim’s alienage? But as far as she knows, there is no past before Kinloch Hold.
FAVORITE FRUIT: Blackberries
FAVORITE SEASON: Spring
FAVORITE FLOWER: The kind of question that would trigger a half-an-hour-long aswer. For brevity sake: nightshade, hellebore, wisteria, ivy (not a flower, but impossible not to mention), and mallow.
FAVORITE SCENT: Burning wood, moss and damp earth, rosemary, wildberries.
COFFEE, TEA, OR HOT CHOCOLATE: Definitely tea. She is the mistress of the most absurd herbal infusions. They are great and they'll cure your cavities and other various ailments - but you don't want to know the ingredients. Don’t.
AVERAGE HOURS OF SLEEP: Between 6-8, can wake up every day at the same time without any alarm of sort.
DOGS OR CATS: If really pressed she'd say dogs (“They are great traveling companions”) but immediately regrets it because of all the fond memories of Ser Pounce-a-lot.
DREAM TRIP: The Thirashan forest, Arbor Wilds, Arlathan Forest – pretty much an elven history roadtrip to try to reclaim that part of her identity.
NUMBER OF BLANKETS: Just one or two, wrapped all around her chrysalis-like because her subconscious still believes that the other apprentices will steal them.
RANDOM FACT: For a moment, she was Justice's first choice for a possible living host - she never knew it, though.
