Are you still taking prompts for the sleepy time ask game? Can you do 17 & 40 for Curtis & Honey??
Thank you so much for sending this ask, I am so sorry its late babes. I hope you like this little drabble.
Life Is Short So Make It Sweet Masterlist
You were close to finishing, your pen tapping against your cheek as you glanced at the old clock ticking away in Curtis's kitchen. Twelve A.M.
Curtis had gone to bed a couple hours ago, saying that he was absolutely beat and needed to sleep before his shift tomorrow. With an affectionate kiss to your jawline while you muttered that you would be up soon.
Soon never came and your essays were still piled up, needing to graded. Your kids worked so hard on them and you had assured them that they would be ready by the end of the week. End of the week was almost here and you weren't even half way through them.
Your head dropped to the table, letting your eyes close. "Just five minutes." You mutter to yourself.
"Honey?"Curtis's deep voice cut into your five minutes, making you blink with a sleepy groan. "Baby, you're done for tonight. Come on up." His hand swept over your shoulder while rubbing against the back of your neck.
"Can't." You say around a yawn while pushing back up to a sit, gasping to yourself when you saw that you drooled on the table, very quickly wiping at your mouth.
"Can't? Honey it's two in the morning and you gotta be out of here by seven." His hand felt good massaging the back of your neck that you relaxed into it with a sigh of satisfaction.
"Got these. too much, end of the week." Sentences were too hard to form right now. Curtis chuckled above you, his hand moving to cup your chin and tilt you to look up at him.
“You’re so cute when you’re tired and speaking in half-sentences Honey." You gave a little dreamy smile up at him, your eyes fluttering closed. He felt good, like you would sink into him.
"Cute enough to continue what I gotta do?"
"No." He said a bit sternly and that made you give a bit of a pout.
"But I-"
“I’m gonna carry you to bed if you keep arguing with me about not needing sleep.” Curtis rumbled out.
"You wouldn't." As soon as the words spilled out, his blue eyes flashed at the challenge and he moved like he was gonna, making you squeal out quickly. "Im coming! Right now." You went to gather everything and he caught your hands, tugging you out of the chair and into his arms.
Yeah, that felt good. You let yourself sink in against his chest with a hum of relent. "That can wait Honey, come on."
You fell asleep as soon as Curtis had you spooned in bed. The next morning, your alarm jarred you awake, seeing that Curtis had already left.
Making your way downstairs for coffee, bypassing the kitchen table, your scattered mess was now all neatly organized, everything in place and your huge pile, half the size as Curtis had worked on grading a few for you.
A note was left on top of the nearly finished pile-
Honey, I will help you finish these tonight. Between the two of us, we can have them ready for you Friday. But Friday night, you're mine Pretty Girl. Love you ~ Curtis

Hiiiiiii Wolfie!
Can I please request a strip sword-fight with Lamber & Aiden? ⚔️🙏🏻🥺😘
You know the reference haha.
Thank youuu!! 💖💖💖
Twinkerbell my love! Here you go 💖 This is heavily based on an advert for Wilkinson Sword from about five years ago and lives rent free in my head.
I’ve also set this in @bounce-a-coin-off-your-witchers pirate AU, with their permission of course. Lambden, 1.2k. (Now with Part Two)
CW: This is horny, no sex but horny, swordplay, weapons kink, nudity, lingerie.
_________
Lambert sipped his ale, grumbling to Jaskier about the atrocious noise the local bard was making on the rickety old stage. The Captain had the half-siren held firmly in his lap, stopping the former noble from leaping up on stage and tearing the lute from the young bard’s hands. Lambert wouldn’t have complained. It was fucking shit, nothing like melodies Jaskier could pull from the lute. Of course, it helped that he had siren blood. The bastard could charm the whole tavern should he wish to do so, luckily for them Geralt was keeping Jaskier occupied. The siren’s hands were wrapped around the Captain’s shoulders as he lavished Jaskier’s neck with kisses.
It was fucking gross.
Lambert rolled his eyes and decided to leave the Captain and his wife alone. He turned back to his drink, downing half the tankard in one go. He scowled and peered into the amber liquid. He should have gone for rum, the ale tasted like piss. He was pulled from his musings by a sword scattering across the floor, landing at his feet.
“The fuck?” He picked up the sword cautiously and peered up at the man standing in the doorway. “Shit.”
Aiden, first mate of the Dyn Marv, was standing in the doorway. It had been a while since their paths had crossed. Aiden’s green eyes were the first thing he noticed, like shimmering emeralds. There was a smirk gracing his lips, and his long dark hair was pulled into a messy bun at the back of his head. His sword was pointing directly at Lambert as he walked slowly towards the crew of the Kaer Morhen.
Lambert glanced back at his captain, but Geralt was still distracted by his wife. Lambert rolled his eyes and weighed the sword in his hands, it was lighter than he was used to but it would do the job. Aiden didn’t mean him any serious harm, he was certain of it. They’d danced this dance before. Lambert grinned and winked at the rival pirate, settling into a fighting stance and raising his sword, not a moment too soon. Aiden flew towards him and the ringing clash of steel sounded in the tavern. The bard stammered and ran to hide, whilst the crowd shifted to the edge of the room.
Lambert laughed as Aiden spun in a pirouette to avoid Lambert’s sword. “Long time no see, kitten.”
“Got a bit tied up in prison,” Aiden called back, lunging at Lambert, his long coat tails flying out behind him.
Lambert hissed as he felt the scratch of cold steel against his skin. He looked down at his blouse and cursed. Aiden’s sword had cut straight through the fabric. He glared up at the dark-haired pirate. “I thought you were dead.”
Aiden laughed, sword dropping to his side whilst he waited for Lambert to regain his composure. “Miss me, wolf?”
“Not a chance,” he shot back, undoing his shirt buttons and pulling the garment off as they circled each other, dropping it on the floor with a wink.
He heard Jaskier wolf whistle in the background, but he ignored him, attention solely focused on the pirate in front of him. He raised his sword once more and Aiden flew forward in a complicated spin, designed to throw Lambert off. It looked very pretty but it was a weak attack. Lambert parried easily and sliced through Aiden’s leather trousers with ease, careful not to cut too deep. One leg split open, revealing dark tanned skin underneath, a scar just above his knee that Lambert couldn’t see but he knew was there.
“You little shit!” Aiden growled, moving in closer for his next attack.
Lambert managed to block the strike, but Aiden didn’t give up easily. They circled once more, blades crossed, and Lambert could smell the scent of Aiden’s cologne, stolen from fancy nobles no doubt. Lambert growled and forced Aiden’s sword away, parrying and slicing at the front of Aiden’s blouse. It fell open and Lambert’s eyes widened.
Oh.
A dark lacy bra was peaking out the ruined shreds of Aiden’s shirt. That was new.
“Like what you see, wolf?” Aiden purred.
Lambert couldn’t find any words to answer that, his pants were beginning to feel painfully tight. Fuck it had been far too long since they’d done this. He needed Aiden, and he needed him now. He lunged again, slicing quickly at Aiden’s trousers until they fell to the floor, revealing a fucking pair of black lacy panties to match his bra. Aiden hissed and jumped back, green eyes now dark with hunger. He pulled his hair free, dark curls falling down his back, the predatory look in his eyes making Lambert feel weak.
“You’re overdressed, darling.”
Lambert smirked as Aiden lunged at him messily, he was starting to wonder whether his green-eyed pirate was making mistakes on purpose. Aiden fell with his back against the wall, lips parted as he panted from the exertion. Lambert’s sword dug into the wall, brushing Aiden’s cheek as he pinned the long leather coat to the wooden beam.
Aiden winked and wiggled free of his coat, now walking around the tavern in just his ruined blouse, looking completely indecent. Lambert leaned forward to try kiss the other pirate but Aiden had other ideas, he ducked under Lambert’s arm forcing him to pirouette to defend himself but it was too late, Aiden’s sword was too quick and Lambert’s trousers joined his shirt on the floor.
“Time to take this somewhere more private, kitten,” he growled, and the man behind the bar pointed to the stairs, his hand trembling in fear. Lambert nodded his thanks.
Aiden laughed and ran up the stairs. Lambert followed and their swords continued to clash as they made their way up to their borrowed room. It was barely a fight any more, but it was enough to make Lambert feel heady with arousal. When they reached the top of the stairs Lambert’s sword sliced up the back of Aiden’s blouse and it fell to the floor.
“Fuck, Aiden,” Lambert groaned as he drank in the sight in front of him.
Aiden turned to face him slowly, his loose dark curls just catching the top of the delicate bra that barely covered Aiden’s pecs, thick chest hair trailed down to the lacy panties that hid absolutely nothing from view. Lambert felt weak at the knees, he wanted nothing more than to rip those fucking panties off with his teeth, but Aiden wasn’t done yet. He pushed Lambert to the floor, sword hooking under his chin, before Lambert could push it aside with his own blade. Lambert groaned and crawled on his back towards the door to the bedroom, forced back by Aiden’s blade clashing against his. When they reached the bedroom Lambert’s sword fell from his hand and he shivered as the tip of Aiden’s sword brushed against his cheek, not enough to draw blood but enough to make his heart race faster in his chest.
“Aiden,” his voice cracked and he sounded fucking pathetic. Fuck, if the Captain saw him like this he’d be thrown over board, forced to walk the plank.
“Do you yield, my wolf?” Aiden squatted down in front of him, keeping his sword at Lambert’s throat.
Lambert groaned but nodded. “Fuck, fine.”
Aiden’s sword dropped to the floor, and the pirate straddled Lambert’s hips, their lips finally meeting in a passionate kiss.

@thefabulouslindalinda sent: 🍂 lamber christmas party shenanigans? / accepting!
send 🍂 to kiss my muse under the mistletoe
amber’s perfected the art of wobbling around in seven-inch heels whether she’s under or over the influence, and she’d perfected it long before meeting linda. but she has to say, having that extra eight inches on him is more than a little bit of a power trip. at this christmas party, someone’s made a point of stringing mistletoe up literally everywhere, so amber wastes no time steering linda to one of those areas. so maybe she likes locking lips with someone just as vapid as her. is that a crime?
linda seems a little bit like he’s not getting the memo (or maybe amber’s only given him less than a second to react before she’s manhandling his chin up to see the mistletoe). “come on, superstar, plant one on me.”

An article about wtFOCK translated from Dutch:
How wtFOCK conquers taboos through trial and error
wtFOCK: for one person a key player, for the other a rather strange combination of consonants. Young people can’t seem to stay away from the successful web series. The new season has started, so we can look back at the previous one. For three months many fans were glued to their screens for a sixteen-year-old’s coming-out. Did this pave a way for more and honest representation of LGBTQ+-problems, or did they occasionally stray from that path?
“‘Secret’ series wtFOCK became the most popular search term on Google in 2019”, various media reported in December. This news seemed to come as a surprise, because many people seemed to have never heard of the term, let alone the web series. And still the series could crown itself the proverbial king of last year’s Google. How did that happen?
The online series that arrived here from Norway mostly seems a hit with teenagers and young adults. In nine weeks’ time the third season got about 11.8 million online views, SBS Belgium said. In total around 400,000 young people between 15 and 34 would be watching the series.
The presumed reason for the success? Young people can follow the characters daily via their smartphones through short, real-time updates and real Instagram-accounts. So ideal in a world where watching linear television, especially for the younger generation, becomes more out of the question. Besides that the series is kept out of the media consciously, to preserve its authenticity and let young people discover it on their own. So far, so good, it seems.
Homosexual main character
Concretely wtFOCK follows the lives of young people in secondary school, where all kinds of teenage troubles don’t get avoided. Since the previous season more social problems are being discussed, too. The series tackled a topic that still hasn’t completely removed itself from the taboo atmosphere: homosexuality, a coming-out, and everything that comes with it. From absolute peaks to the sometimes painful lows we are witnesses to the bumpy road towards self-acceptance that sixteen-year-old Robbe experiences.
But is that a new thing, an LGBT-character in Flemish fiction? Florian Vanlee researches the LGBTQ+-representation in Flemish television series at Ghent University. He clarifies: “About 20 percent of productions is said to have a prominent LGBT-character. Regarding supporting characters, it’s about 33 percent. That’s a relatively large part.”
It does seem the first time that in a commercial youth television the full attention of the main character goes towards homosexuality. “It’s remarkable how instantaneously the focus explicitly goes towards homosexuality. wtFOCK is therefore a very valuable program”, Vanlee says. The question therefore arises how the new form of representation was received by the LGBTQ+-community.
About recognition and self-acceptance
Amver Maselis, a 20-year-old bisexual student from Hove, has been a fan of the original SKAM. When the series ended in Norway, she started to follow the other remakes. Therefore her interest also brought her to wtFOCK. Passionately she talks about a series which she clearly values a lot. “I’ve been following the project for several years, and despite the subtle differences between shows, the main topics are always portrayed nicely.”
Out of all the remakes she thinks wtFOCK is the best one. Then again, the Flemish version connects the most with her own environment. “Now that the series has arrived in Antwerp, in my own culture, it suddenly feels very close to home.”
It helps that she really recognizes herself in Robbe, the main character that comes out of the closet to his friends and family in his teenage years. “It touches me, because I notice that I’ve sometimes said or felt the same things. Back then it was a huge secret I kept to myself. Now I know that it’ll all be fine,” says Amber. ‘ For other young people the series could be encouraging, like SKAM was for me three years ago, when I had just come out of the closet and I has to learn to accept myself.”
22-year-old Fabio Olivieri from Antwerp seems to share that opinion. As a teenager he barely saw a gay character to which he could relate. It comforts him to know that that’s different for the youth today. Besides that he commends the portrayal of the fact that members of the LGBT-community often have to learn to accept themselves, too. “sometimes it’s hard to learn how to deal with it, to know how you feel and if you want to feel that way. That’s portrayed beautifully.”
“Do you have questions?”
So the storyline can be a comfort to youth who can relate to it. wtFOCK also consciously wants to focus on that aspect. Not only by pushing the subject forward, but also by working together with the online platform WAT WAT. This initiative of the Flemish Government is a bundling of forces of more than 70 organizations to inform the youth. Together, those organizations want to make sure that “all young people are confident and can develop their identity in a positive manner.” On the website, youth can find answers about exam stress, problems at home, but also about sex, sexuality, … you name it.
After every clip of wtFOCK the possibility to visit watwat.be is shown, “in case you have questions”. That initiative pleases Ferre Lamber, a 25-year-old man from Antwerp who remembers how he also went to the internet for questions about his homosexuality when he was younger. “Sometimes it’s just hard to tell someone directly that you’re doubting your sexual orientation. So I can definitely imagine that young people will look online for answers.”
This way, wtFOCK wants to do more than just entertain. “Even though it’s fiction, which automatically entails the aspect of entertainment, that is not the essence of our show”, screenwriter Bram Renders says, incidentally also the writer of youth series W817. “We mostly want to show the youth that they’re not alone. That element is strongly present, and it’s nice that we can convey that message like this.”
The harsh reality
Thus, the series carries an important reality, which can be harsh sometimes. Fabio isn’t sure if he can always appreciate that. “I thought that the homophobia in wtFOCK was pretty cruel sometimes. Somehow that’s a good thing, because real life is like that, too. I’ve already experienced that myself. But in series the focus is generally on all the problems gay characters come into contact with. It would have been nice to see that this wasn’t the case. It has two sides.”
One specific scene that, for the same reason, caused a bomb of critical reactions on Twitter to explode, was when gay bashing was shown shortly, but very explicitly. The choice to portray it, is understandable based on the fact that it’s still a real and current problem today. At the end of December, two LGBT-boys in Ghent became victims of gay bashing. In Het Nieuwsblad they called for other victims to not stay silent, but to report such senseless violence to the police. However, in wtFOCK it’s shown how the main character and his boyfriend decide not to go to the police.
Ferre can understand that decision. “As a victim you want to avoid even more trouble and je need the strength to do something about it. I understand that not everyone would have that. One single right way to deal with gay bashing doesn’t exist.”
Ferre is concerned by, is the way in which the show depicted the incident as a while. The scene depicts how Robbe and his boyfriend get verbally abused and attacked. It end abruptly with the two left injured. Only the next day do we as viewer get to know if everything is okay. “Two years ago, when I hadn’t been with my boyfriend for that long, we were followed, too. After, we cuddled, drank tea, and watched a series, … at moment like that you just want to be together lovingly. You want to know if everything will be okay. But in wtFOCK nothing happened on the night itself and the matter was resolved quickly afterwards.”
Criticism
So more clarity would have been appropriate. The possibilities that you have as a victim after such an incident weren’t emphasized enough according to Ferre. Especially not for a show that has the support of a platform like WAT WAT.
This is clearly not the first time that Bram Renders hears this criticism. He has already given up on reading reactions on Twitter, he jokes. Hesitantly he does admit that they could’ve handled the scene better.
‘How it was protrayed, is more intense than how I imagined it during my rose-colored writing process.’ He says. ‘ That’s no criticism towards the director, because you can never know something like that beforehand. But in hindsight it would have been appropriate to show a follow-up-clip, in which they come home for example. As writeryou always have moments of which you think that it would have been better if you handled them differently; this is one of them.’
Besides that it was a conscious decision to make wtFOCK more heavy than the original SKAM. That decision came after prior conversations with people from the LGBTQ+-community. ‘According to the most people I talked to, was the internal struggle of the main character in the original version too small en was the world around him to rose-colored. So we made that world more raw.’ said Renders.
Ignorance
Then again, benefit of such heavy scenes is the awareness it brings about in viewers outside the LGBTQ+-community. “If you don’t know anyone who’s gay, then you also don’t know how we feel and how we experience certain things,” Fabio emphasizes. “I think that because of wtFOCK people can become more aware. Especially with the amount of young people that watch the series, it can provide more understanding and tolerance.”
Ferre also thinks that larger audiences are show what LGBT-people have to deal with. “Nowadays we don’t know enough about each other’s lives. I noticed that when colleagues or friends asked surprised if certain scenes are really like that, and if I’m really scared to hold hands with my boyfriend in the streets. The different seasons of wtFOCK provide good insights into different problems and how people handle them”, he decides.
Of course, purely scientifically it’s hard to determine such an impact on the audience. But intuitively speaking, that impact is already very logical, researcher Florian Vanlee (UGent) clarifies. “On one side, it can be important for people who do not meet the social standard to see their own experiences portrayed. On the other side, it can make those experiences for those who have less knowledge about it more obvious.”
New insights get subtly imparted throughout the series, but sometimes also in a more explicit manner, like in the part about the Gay Pride. At one point Robbe sneering tells his homosexual roommate that he isn’t the kind of person to dance around at Prides with “plumes in his hole”. That roommate is a more extravagant character that is mostly portrayed as support, with wise advice. He offers Robbe (but mostly the viewer) rebuttal with a short, but emotional history lesson. “Do you know that those people had to fight to be who they are?”, it sounds.
The show is undoubtedly referring to the protests of Stonewall which later grew into the Gay Prides all over the world. Something that is often forgotten, gets emphasized here: that people in the LGBTQ+-community had to travel a long and difficult path to have equal rights today and to be able to completely be themselves.
Amber thinks it’s very important for that history to be highlighted. “That people would rather die than not be able to be who they are, is the basic principle of the Gay Pride. There’s more behind it than semi-naked, dancing people, as some still see it.”
Better representation
Referring to the Gay Pride, Ferre admits to be somewhat disappointed about the type of main character in this season of wtFOCK. According to him it also could’ve been a more pronounced type for once. According to him, LGBTQ+-representation is focused on the so-called ‘mainstream’ LGBT-people too often.
At the start of September the topic got a lot of attention, when radio-dj Wanne Synnave (MNM) made the following statement in the talkshow Vandaag: “The biggest problem is that all the role models you see conform to the cliché image. I’ve never been able to identify myself in that area. I think that there’s a need for more mainstream LGBT-role models, the normal man and woman in the street. So not those flamboyant role models, which are pretty cliché.”
That statement caused a lot of outrage in the LGBTQ+-community. Many people didn’t agree, and had the opinion that there were already plenty of LGBT-people portrayed according to ‘hetero standards’. Florian Vanlee (UGent) confirms that in Flanders very little stereotypical characters are portrayed. “You could almost go so far as to say that the majority of the LGBT-characters are a sort of reverse-stereotype. For example, you will very rarely find very flamboyant gay characters.”
So television program makers represent (admittedly with good intentions) in a very general manner. “But exactly because of that, a large part of the LGBT-community are kept out of the picture”, Vanlee says. So there is need for more varying representation.
Balance
In the specific case of wtFOCK we can argue that the show follows the original format from Norway, and takes satisfaction in the extravagant gay character Milan, the roommate. “It’s hard to find a good balance”, screenwriter Bram Renders says. “In this case I thought that that balance with the ‘out in the open, take it or leave it’-roommate was enough.
In addition, according to Florian Vanlee, it’s not fair to judge individual series on those choices. “That’s not the right way to deal with what we want to see in media and popular culture”, Vanlee thinks. “Nowadays, in Flanders, it’s normal to represent LGBT-characters, for example Kaat in the soap Thuis. That was already an important step. What could be better, isn’t the responsibility of the television-industry, but also the discourse it generates,” he decides.
Finally, representation in Flemish media doesn’t just concern LGBTQ+-characters. It’s also important to look at the portrayal of people with a migration background or with different religions, for example. But wtFOCK doesn’t shy away from that either. In the fourth season, the show takes a new taboo by the horns by making Yasmina, a Muslim character, the main. It remains to be seen how the young, but critical audience will find the new theme.

Drowns the Whiskey
Dean Winchester x Reader
1000 Words
Written for: @atc74 and her Duets Challenge. I’m so sorry, I thought I had already posted this, but it was just sitting in my drafts!!!
My song: Drowns the whiskey by Jason Aldean and Miranda Lamber
Summary: Whiskey is the only thing that can help Y/N forget.
Warnings: Angst, surprise ending
The amber liquid swirled in the glass, sloshing slightly over the side. Droplets formed on your hand, and you fought against the urge to lick it up, hating the waste. Signaling the bartender, you downed the shot, welcoming the slight burn as it slid down your throat, pulling in your stomach.
It was another run-down bar, in another no-name town. It didn’t matter what the interior looked like. As long as it had some stools at the bar, and a never-ending supply of whiskey, you were content.
The whiskey had helped at first. Drowning the memories of a man who had been your everything. The strong liquid had taken the edge of the pain away. At first. And now? No matter how many sips of whiskey, those mossy green eyes still haunted you.
“Dean,” you whispered, the pain cutting through the whiskey, stinging at the corner of your eyes. Closing your eyes, your hand grasping the shot glass so tight it could have cracked, you gave in to them. Dean, sitting in the driver seat of the Impala, one hand on the steering wheel, the other resting on the rolled-down window. He smiled over at you, his eyes crinkling up. “This is nice, isn’t it?” He had asked. “You, me, and the open road.”
“Another,” You told the bartender, pushing away the empty glass. He complied, and you waved at the bottle. “Keep that here.”
He sighed, setting the bottle down in front of you. Tossing back the shot, you welcomed the numbness as it began to take a hold of you. But it faded away as the memory of Dean’s lips against your skin had your hand trembling as you poured another round. Dean, and those plump lips had driven you to distraction more times than you could count. A tear slipped down your cheek as the liquid slid down your throat.
“Damn you whiskey,” you muttered. It was why you were here. You were looking for a release, a way to forget because the memories were too much to bear.
“Excuse me?” The man sitting next to you asked. “Miss, are you alright?”
“Nope,” you answered, taking another shot of whiskey.
He backed off, leaving you to the only thing you cared about. Whiskey. But even the strong alcohol wasn’t your friend tonight. No matter how much you drank, or how much it burned, Dean was still there, at the front of your mind. Remind you of how much you missed him. How much it hurt that he was gone, leaving you alone.
You wished that fateful day could be burned from your mind. But it would take something stronger than whiskey. The day everything had been taken from you. Your love, your hope, your reason for going on. When that knife had slid into Dean’s chest, you had been helpless to stop it. You had watched him die right in front of you, and now you couldn’t sleep without seeing those mossy green eyes go glassy. Watching as he took his last painful breath.
Reaching for the whiskey bottle, you poured another shot of whiskey, trying to dull the tight ache around your heart. Wishing that it would take away the memories. The good and the bad. They both hurt right now, and you weren’t sure you could stand to hurt anymore.
Your phone buzzed in your pocket. No doubt Sam calling once again, trying to check up on you. But you couldn’t talk to him. He reminded you too much of the good life, the life that you would give everything up for just to have Dean alive once again. His call went to voicemail, your mailbox probably full.
With the shot glass resting in your hand, you thought back to your last happy memory of Dean. Before the mark had changed him. When the two of you had slipped away for a night to yourself. Parked in the back row of the drive-in, more interested in the feel of his body against yours, you had spent the evening wrapped in his arms. It had been perfect, but now even that memory had tears spilling down your cheek, and you quickly raised the shot glass to try and push the pain back.
“What’s a pretty girl like you got to cry about?” A deep voice, so familiar and haunting asked as a callused hand pushed the glass down.
Through the tears, you slowly peered up, your heart catching as a person you had never expected to see again stood beside you. “Dean?” You asked, wondering if he was a figment of your whiskey-fueled brain.
“In the flesh,” he answered proudly. “With a few upgrades.”
Your heart hammered as you looked him over. He seemed a little leaner, stronger than before. Wearing that soft maroon flannel shirt you loved so much. His hair seemed longer, wilder, but it looked good. Smiling, you let your gaze drop to his eyes, gasping when they flicked to black.

“i woke up & you were gone.” ( lamber aha k*ll me )
“yeah, and? what? was i supposed to tell you that i was leaving? do you need to constantly know where i am? like you’re my fuckin’ mom or something.” he scoffs, shoving his hands in his pockets. he swallows the lump in his throat before continuing , his hidden fingers beginning to tremble. he had gotten too close and it needed to end -- for her sake , and for his. a good , clean break. he had to make sure that she would never want to speak to him again. he had to make it hurt , even if it would hurt him the most. “you know, maybe i just wanted to get some fucking space. maybe i just--i just needed to BREATHE. because i can’t, not with you always right here, fucking... suffocating me.” he shakes his head and paces the floor , his hands out of his pockets , fidgeting with each other. he's trying to clear his head and think of his finishing blow , something that would dig in deep and leave a mark. he stops dead in his tracks and looks at her with wild fury in his eyes, having to channel it from something other than his feelings for her, of course. “why do you have this incessant need to save me ? don’t you see ? i don’t want to be saved. i don’t need that shit, i don’t need you. just leave me the fuck alone, amber. i’m never going to be what you think i am. the sooner you realize that, the better off you’ll be. just stop being so fucking naive. you don’t know me, you don’t know what i’m capable of, do you ? that should fucking terrify you. you hear me ? you should be scared of me, i’m not a good person, i never ever will be. got that ? now i’m leaving, and you’re not going to fucking follow me.” his last words are rushed and full of uncertainty, unable to mask his voice any longer.
he turns on his heels and nearly ran to the door, feeling himself fall apart with every step he takes, every step further away from her. the only light in his life, a light he’d likely just snuffed out, blown out like a candle. he could almost feel it fading. he slams the door behind him for good measure, and he keeps going until he’s sure that he’s out of sight. his heart is pounding in his ears so loudly that he can’t hear anything else, not even the whimpers that involuntarily spill out of his mouth as the facade begins to crack. he can’t stop seeing the look on her face as he left her there, wounded and broken and hurt. so much hurt. he presses his back against the wall and slides down to the floor, pulling his knees against his chest. this is for the best , he convinces himself. she’s much better off without him in her life to mess it all up. that didn’t stop the tears from welling up, or the sobs that followed soon after. his father was closer than ever to finding him, he could feel it, and he didn’t want her around when it happened. he couldn’t know that he cared so deeply for someone. it was just another weakness to exploit. he should’ve known better in the first place not to get so attached to someone, not when his father had a history of stealing every shred of happiness that he ever had. his chest ached as he thought of all of the horrible things that he would’ve done to her if he had found out, but strangely, the thought of amber back in her room, alone and hurt from all of the things he said to her, somehow cut even deeper. he would never forgive himself for this , but even more so if she had been put in any kind of danger because of him. this was the right thing to do, the only choice he had. he couldn’t bring himself to regret it , not when it was her safety that was at stake. after all, a broken heart is better than one that stops beating altogether.

LfM Ch 11
Ao3
.
Marinette doesn’t know what happened. Suddenly, there seemed to be a ridge between Adrien and Aurore. He came by to see them less, offered a wave and smile here and there, but was always quick to move on. And not only did Marinette notice, Aurore did as well.
“Was I too great a storm?” Aurore wondered, seated perfectly, poised, face tilted skywards as she posed for an outfit Marinette designed. The only thing to give away her agitation and nervousness was the little twirl of her umbrella, unsure and twitchy.
“You were fine,” Marinette reassured, going around, taking pictures. “Maybe… he’s busy?”
“I suppose,” Aurore sighed.
Marinette offered him an optimistic smile. “Give him some time. And if he doesn’t come to hang out with us, we’ll go pester him.”
Aurore cracked a small grin, though she turned her head, eyeing the school where the fencing practice was being held, where Adrien was. There in the courtyard, Adrien found himself in a match against Jean Duparc. He was a playful kid, lively, with energy Adrien can appreciate. Though, he was a weak punner, had to really, really reach sometimes. But, not everyone can stand with the greats in the master of wordplay.
Today, Jean was a bit different. Usually, he didn’t take fencing too seriously. A little more dodgy than he should be, quick on his feet, likes to jab but never strikes too hard or go directly aggressive, which often irritated D’Argencourt, but he’s somewhat given up trying to correct it.
Today, Jean was more focused, more serious, nothing playful in his style. The shorter boy fought Adrien with a little more aggression, coming at him directly, his hits still not as hard as they should be, and he was still flighty, but it was a definite difference to how he usually worked.
But, facing the secret Chat Noir, Jean stood little chance against him, and wound up on the ground, the tip of his foil pressed against his chest.
“You ok, Jean?” Adrien asked, lifting up the mask to offer the boy a hand.
“I guess you could say I’m a little poked,” Jean said, taking his hand and letting Adrien pull him up to his feet. He lifted off his own mask, giving Adrien a frown. It was weird to see on the usually lively boy. “Aurore’s been a little down lately.”
“O-oh, really? Something wrong?”
“Yeah, a lack of you.”
Adrien winced, and quickly said, “I’ve been busy.” He turned, hurrying to his bag to grab a drink. Jean followed, undeterred.
“You could’ve at least sent her a message to let her know.”
“Yeah, I could’ve.”
“She may not say it, but I can see that she thinks she did something wrong.”
“She didn't. I’m just busy, is all.”
“Doesn’t seem like you have a lot of rAgreste.”
“Ok, Jean, you’re starting to push it,” Adrien warned, rounding on the shorter boy.
“A bit,” Jean admitted, “but Aurore is a friend who’s getting really hurt over the lack of communication. Don’t leave her hanging thinking the worst. She’s going to think the worst.”
“Ok, ok. I’ll talk to her,” Adrien sighed. Jean nodded his thanks and left, though Adrien caught to slight evil eye the boy sent him. Adrien made a face back at him, turning to his bag and grumbling, “He’s not even that funny.”
“That’s a matter of opinion,” Plagg replied, peeking out to peer up at Adrien. “He can be funny. Just like you’re sometimes funny.”
Plagg received an offended look for that. “I’m always funny!” Adrien insisted, but Plagg only shrugged, hiding himself away in the bag once more, leaving Adrien alone to pout.
.
Marinette frowned, slowly walking along the columns of books, seeking out specifics about storms. Since Adrien’s distance, Aurore’s been very down and to improve her mood, Marinette wanted to make her a storm themed dress. But she wanted to do research, figure out what to do. There were a lot of things she could do with stormy elements, she could go dark colored dresses with lighter design, like a bolt of lightning, or something like a hailstorm or snowfall, just something bright and shining against the dark cloth. But she wasn’t sure if she wanted to go dark for Aurore, so maybe something colorful, like wind on a sunny, or…
Marinette pursued her lips, adjusting the books she had to take out her pencil, doing a little quick sketch to just get the newest thought down. So caught up in sketching and walking, Marinette didn’t look where she was going, and collided with two others as they walked down the hall.
She dropped her things with a squeak, eyes locking onto the falling books; she moved with pure instinct, catching what she could and was able to salvage the loss. Releived, she looked up, ready to apologize, only to blink at the double, gaping stares received from both Felix Agreste and Amber Bourgeois.
With a sheepish smile, she uttered, “Sorry.” She put the books back in Felix’s hands, dropping down to gather up her things, Amber followed, helping her.
“That was wild,” Amber said, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone move that fast.” She paused, eyes settling on the sketches Marinette had done, taking in the designs and notes dotted around the dresses.
“Let’s just say I had a lot of practice,” Marinette offered, standing up, holding out her hand for the sketchbook. Amber returned it, lips a little pursed. Catching on that her eyes were on her sketchbook, Marinette revealed, “My friend’s feeling a little down, so I’m going make her a little dress.”
“The weather girl,” Felix noted, eyes on the books she had.
“Yes!” Marinette confirmed, adjusting her hold on her books so she can finger gun the blond. “Anyway, I need to go. Have a good one you two!” She was off with a wave, leaving the blondes alone in the library. She was on heading down the hallway, eyes ahead, when her arm was suddenly grabbed and she was pulled into a familiar classroom.
“Here, she can help with makeup!” someone declared for Marinette, the girl barely managing to hold onto her books. She looked up in surprise, her arm held securely by a boy in a blue shirt with an eyeball on it. He turned to her, pushing, “You’re good with that, right? So you'll do it.”
“Uh, excuse me?” she huffed, jerking her wrist out of his.
“She designs clothes, Nino,” Kim voiced, giving the boy a dry look.
“She's still some sort of stylist then,” Nino waved off. “She can help—”
“She has no memory of saying yes,” Marinette cut in, giving the boy an unimpressed look. Then looked around, stiffening to see she was surrounded by Bustier’s class. It took all her willpower to not gulp. Any one of them could end up an akuma…
“We should let her go, Nino,” Adrien voiced, making Marinette tense. She turned, seeing the blond peering at her wearily. Marinette narrowed her eyes at him, not happy that he has cut himself off from Aurore.
She jumped when she was grabbed and pulled close, fighting off a twitch as the redhead declared, “She's always doing artsy stuff, Adrien. She'd be a big help.”
“She has plans,” Marinette insisted, getting free if Alya.
“Oh no, stay. I insist.”
Marinette’s blood went cold, turning to see Chloe grinning at her, looking like a cat that caught the mouse. She drew near, knowing Marinette was trapped. “Don't know about makeup, but she'd be a great little helper, wouldn't she, Sabrina?”
“Most definitely!”
“Maybe she can help bring Mylene back,” a large boy that Marinette recognized as Stoneheart murmured.
Chloe rounded on him, snapping, “We don't need her! I'm lead actress now! Me! Not that chicken! She's out and I say good riddance!”
The boy gave her a dark glare, but before anything could be said or done, the lights went out, scaring everyone. They all became even more unnerved when something dark covered the windows, blocking out the light outside.
Oh no, Marinette thought, inching away from the crowd that gathered around the windows. She sped out to find a secluded spot to transform only to ram right into Felix as he and Amber came by the classroom.
“Sorry,” Marinette murmured, rubbing her nose as Felix gave her a slight frown.
“Do you know what's going on?” Amber asked, brow furrowed.
“It's just an akuma,” Marinette explained, “it'll be ok.”
“Big words from the scary cat who tried to runaway,” Chloe huffed.
“I just wanted to do a quick check of the area,” Marinette said, moving to get away once more. Only she was grabbed by the back of the blazer and pulled back. She looked up to the stern eyes of Felix.
Loudly, he declared, “No one is going anywhere. We don’t know what we're dealing with or what's going on, so we're staying together till then.”
“Oh yeah, Felibear in charge.”
“I trust him a lot more than you, Chlo-Chlo.”
“As if your opinion matters, Lamber.”
“Since it's better than yours, of course it does.”
“Enough,” Felix cut in, pinching the bridge of nose. “We need to stick together and stay safe. Perhaps stay in this room and block off exits.”
“That'd trap us on,” Adrien argued. “We should try and get out of here.”
“There is no way out of here,” Felix said, pointing to the window. “Whatever covers the window is probably covering the whole school, blocking our escape. Here, we'd be safe and able to keep up with everyone, out there, we'd get picked off.”
“Makes sense,” Marinette agreed, “ but you still need a scout!” She moved to hurry out only to end up grabbed again and dragged in.
“Would you stop that?” he grumbled. He stiffened when Adrien darted past, no way to grab him as the boy shouted he'd do it. Felix scowled, turning to the rest of the room, he said, “No one else leaves.”
“Wrong!”
Marinette could feel Felix tensing beside her. Everyone turned as Chat prowled into the room, giving them a salute.
“Chat Noir!” the boy in blue cried out in delight, earning himself a wink.
“Oh look, a real leader,” Chloe called out, making Chat preen.
“Indeed I am. Here to take charge and get you all out safely!” Marinette raised a brow at that, a little baffled. “Now chop! Chop! Everyone move it! Single file! Pick a buddy!”
Marinette wiggled to Chat’s side, asking, “Is there a plan?”
“Yeah! Cataclysm the dome!”
“And the akuma?”
“I’ll handle it.”
The events of Copycat fresh in her mind, Marinette wasn’t so confident… but it was a doubt that wasn’t shared with the others. As a hero and wanting to get out of here, everyone was up to follow Chat’s lead. They all kept close, moving in single file, and Felix took on the effort of keeping track of everyone, including Marinette. He was quick to catch onto her wanting to be at the end of the line and situated her in the middle where the tall boy could keep an eye on her. Which of course upheld her becoming Ladybug, which bothered Tikki enough that Marinette was surprised the anxious kwami wasn’t shaking up her bag.
Till an opportunity arose, Marinette bided her time, looking around, trying to figure out what they were dealing with. From what she gathered, the victim today was Mylene, a very shy, anxious girl that became too overwhelmed by the little horror flick the boy Nino wanted to film. It scared her enough that the motive seemed to be to scare her classmates back.
And, Marinette can admit, she was going a good job… the school was redecorated with goo, the lights out, and it was hard to see with the school covered. It unnerved Marinette enough that she wrapped her arms around her middle.
“I'm sure it'll be ok.”
Marinette looked over, seeing Amber offering her a small, unsteady smile. “Like, sure, it's our first akuma attack to be in, but I hear the heroes do good work. And Chat Noir is right there!” she excitedly whispered.
Chat’s ears flicked back, catching what Amber said. He turned back to them, grinning coyly as he said, “Indeed I am, here to protect you lovely ladies.”
Amber giggled while Marinette rolled her eyes. What she really needed was a chance to get awa—
There was a shout behind them, everyone jumping as they looked back to see a redhead being carried off by a long purple tail. Chat was off to pursue him and with attention locked on them, Marinette took her chance to get away. It was with relief when she became Ladybug, sliding out to help salvage and help however she could, taking charge over the panic.
It lead to a long, long afternoon, and quiet promise that if she ever finds herself in a room alone with Bustier’s class, Marinette was to run.

“Troupe” (2018, i.s.m. de gemeente Sint-Katelijne-Waver)
