It's Lesbian Visibility Week! Did you know that I -- a lesbian visible on the light spectrum -- have a book out with a likewise visible lesbian?
That's right! And she murders people!
I have to admit, I've been pretty bummed that she hasn't gotten as much love as Amastan and The Perfect Assassin. Yes, yes, she's technically the second book in a series, BUT -- hear me out -- it's a standalone! AND -- continue hearing me out -- I wrote this book first, anyway.
So for this Visibly Lesbian Week, if you enjoy: - girls with garrotes - undead camels - cranky necromancers - desert jaunts ...you should check out THE IMPOSSIBLE CONTRACT.
#queer books#my books#lesbian visibility week#it really is a shame TIC didn't get any love#disaster lesbian and her gay healer#necromancy too#undead camels#Ghadid

The Dragon Twins' birth
Credits of the last two pictures to @killpilled
I think the birth of Baela and Rhaena is impactful, since these girls are gonna be fighters to the core, and when they were born they were described as small, and considering the birth of twins in medieval times was not easy -even nowadays it's still risky- I think the dialogue of Daemon and the maester in the episode six can work here.
Warning: Childbirth, mentions of C-section (though not allowed), incest (Daemon and Laena are first cousins-once-removed, though in Westeros that is not considered incest)
Laena swore she could feel the movement of her baby within her.
Since she had three moons of pregnancy the maesters had instructed them on what was dangerous for the baby, Daemon and Laena had found out she was pregnant when they came back to stay in Pentos.
"You need to have a healthy diet my lady, you are eating for two."
Laena mischievously loved the fact that Daemon fulfilled every craving she had, as she reminded him she was carrying his child, a fact that made Daemon proud.
Laena thought that as soon as she recovered from the fact she would take her baby flying with her, just like her mother had done with her brother Laenor and her. Though this time, Laena would do it simply because she wanted to, not to show she was strong enough to do it to prove a point as Rhaenys had to, since back then her claim and those of Laena and Laenor had been passed over.
The whole pregnancy had been calm, as calm as carrying a dragon baby could be, but Laena loved the extra energy she had and Daemon as well.
In that moment the baby seemed to be kicking as they were fighting for their way out.
Laena was worried she might not make it, she wanted to live and to get to know her baby.
As the maester got up from his position in which they had made Laena arch her back as she was on her knees Laena prayed to the gods of Old Valyria to help her.
"Yvori ñuhi qrinkorzittan. Rūs māzīlus daor" (I've reached the limit of my art. The child won't come.)
The maester told Daemon who was watching concerned how his wife was hurting.
"Drējī usōven, dārilaros ñuhys" (I'm very sorry, my prince.)
"Nēdys ñuhys" (My brave girl.)
"Rūhurlion drāmmakson kostos, rūssy egroso nādīnakson. Yn lo glaesos, sesīr sīlī ūī vestragon koston daor." (We could lay open the womb, try to remove the infant by way of the blade. But I can't say for a surety whether it lives, even now)
Daemon thought about his own mother, she had not survived the birth of her youngest son.
"Muña ūjot glaesi lus?" (Would the mother survive it?)
"Daor... Yn lo sylunon nyke pradon, dārilaros ñuhys, ōña pos amastan." (No... But if I am to begin the attempt, my prince, the time is now.)
Daemon felt sick to his stomach, he would not risk Laena, they could always try to have other children, but he would not risk Laena.
"No" the overwhelming feelings made him switch languages. "There must be another way"
"Excuse me, my prince" A young midwife got close to Daemon, unlike the maester by his side the woman spoke the common tongue "I know of a way in which we can save both of them"
"Speak of it"
"We could make Lady Laena stand and have her pull a rope from above her, the strength of the pulling will make pushing easier but we would need to be more careful with getting the child out."
Daemon processed the words for a second before answering.
"As long as they both are safe, I will agree"
Soon, they helped Laena get on her feet and they made gave her a rope a taller servant was steadfastly holding as Laena stretched it to herself.
Soon Laena felt the pain the crowning of one of the babies and stretched the rope with even more force.
"I can see the head! Push my lady!"
Laena pulled the rope using all her strength and letting herself be grabbed by the midwives at her sides.
Then the baby came screaming into the world.
"A girl, my lady" Laena wanted to sit and hold her but before she could set the rope aside she felt a new pressure in her body.
" My belly!" A midwife quickly lowered to attend her but she gasped as she saw another head.
"There is another baby"
Laena sighed wearily as she was once again put on her feet and started pulling the robe again, this time the midwives had to hold her will all their strength and pulled the rope higher as the baby finally slid out and a new princess was born.
As the afterbirth came the master had told Laena that since the babies were small he hadn't realized Laena was carrying twins.
Soon Laena and Daemon were seated in the bed where Laena was resting with their twin princesses.
"They are perfect" Laena muttered.
The twins had silvery-white hair and bright violet eyes.
"Of course they are, we are their parents." Both Daemon and Laena snickered.
Two new dragons had joined the Targaryen dynasty.

I would love it if the h/amastans actually went over and gave themselves to the paedophilic rapist death cult.
Pro-Palestine ancaps:
Regularly and uncritically repeat pro Hamas propaganda that could be factually debunked with a few seconds of checking, like "Israel shut down the Iron Dome to let the missiles through" or wild misuse of the term "genocide".
Victim blame Israel for decades of attacks on their civilians.
Say Israel should not react with armed force in any way to those attacks.
Refuse to believe that Israel could ever be anything but actively and maliciously evil even when it would be of no profit to Israel.
Ignore and hide criticisms of Hamas, get caught, and then lie about it.
Make an explicit and unambiguous statement victim blaming Israel, get criticized, and then claim that they were obviously saying something very different. Then yelling at and blocking the people who took them at their word.
Block people who disagree with them on the matter, including direwolf himself, repeatedly.

JANUARY: The Perfect Assassin by KA Doore
Since December's book got unceremoniously canned, here's January's book. I either finish it by the end of January or it goes to the donation box.
The Perfect Assassin by KA Doore.
Divine justice is written in blood.
Or so Amastan has been taught. As a new assassin in the Basbowen family, he’s already having second thoughts about taking a life. A scarcity of contracts ends up being just what he needs.
Until, unexpectedly, Amastan finds the body of a very important drum chief. Until, impossibly, Basbowen’s finest start showing up dead, with their murderous jaan running wild in the dusty streets of Ghadid. Until, inevitably, Amastan is ordered to solve these murders, before the family gets blamed.
Every life has its price, but when the tables are turned, Amastan must find this perfect assassin or be their next target
I picked up this book because I had heard good things, but for the life of me I no longer remember what they are. I do remember that it was a recommendation from the Be The Serpent podcast, which I adored. I got so many good book recommendations from them. If you haven't, I strongly recommend checking out their backlog. (I think they're on hiatus or something? Life got busy so I fell behind.) They talk about books, fanfic, other media, and stories and storytelling (and TROPES).
If I recall correctly, I didn't even finish the first chapter last time, but I'm ready to try again :)

Tuareg people
The Tuareg people are a large Berber ethnic group that principally inhabit the Sahara in a vast area stretching from far southwestern Libya to southern Algeria, Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso. Traditionally nomadic pastoralists, small groups of Tuareg are also found in northern Nigeria.
They are a semi-nomadic people who practice Islam, and are descended from the indigenous Berber communities of Northern Africa, which have been described as a mosaic of local Northern African (Taforalt), Middle Eastern, European (Early European Farmers), and Sub-Saharan African-related ancestries, prior to the Arab expansion. Tuareg people are credited with the spreading of Islam in North Africa and the adjacent Sahel region.
Tuareg society has traditionally featured clan membership, social status and caste hierarchies within each political confederation.
The Tuareg have controlled several trans-Saharan trade routes and have been an important party to the conflicts in the Saharan region during the colonial and post-colonial era.
In the late 19th century, the Tuareg resisted the French colonial invasion of their Central Saharan homelands and annihilated a French expedition led by Paul Flatters in 1881. However, in the long run Tuareg broadswords were no match for the more advanced weapons of French troops. After numerous massacres on both sides,[30] the Tuareg were subdued and required to sign treaties in Mali 1905 and Niger 1917. In southern Algeria, the French met some of the strongest resistance from the Ahaggar Tuareg. Their Amenokal, traditional chief Moussa ag Amastan, fought numerous battles in defence of the region. Finally, Tuareg territories were taken under French governance.
Post-colonially, when African countries achieved widespread independence in the 1960s, the traditional Tuareg territory was divided among a number of modern states: Niger, Mali, Algeria, Libya, and Burkina Faso. Competition for resources in the Sahel has since led to conflicts between the Tuareg and neighboring African groups, especially after political disruption following French colonization and independence. There have been tight restrictions placed on nomadization because of high population growth. Desertification is exacerbated by human activity i.e.; exploitation of resources and the increased firewood needs of growing cities. Some Tuareg are therefore experimenting with farming; some have been forced to abandon herding and seek jobs in towns and cities.
In Mali, a Tuareg uprising resurfaced in the Adrar N'Fughas mountains in the 1960s, following Mali's independence. Several Tuareg joined, including some from the Adrar des Iforas in northeastern Mali. The 1960s' rebellion was a fight between a group of Tuareg and the newly independent state of Mali. The Malian Army suppressed the revolt. Resentment among the Tuareg fueled the second uprising.
This second (or third) uprising was in May 1990. At this time, in the aftermath of a clash between government soldiers and Tuareg outside a prison in Tchin-Tabaraden, Niger, Tuareg in both Mali and Niger claimed autonomy for their traditional homeland: (Ténéré, capital Agadez, in Niger and the Azawad and Kidal regions of Mali). Deadly clashes between Tuareg fighters (with leaders such as Mano Dayak) and the military of both countries followed, with deaths numbering well into the thousands. Negotiations initiated by France and Algeria led to peace agreements (11 January 1992 in Mali and 1995 in Niger). Both agreements called for decentralization of national power and guaranteed the integration of Tuareg resistance fighters into the countries' respective national armies.
Major fighting between the Tuareg resistance and government security forces ended after the 1995 and 1996 agreements. As of 2004, sporadic fighting continued in Niger between government forces and Tuareg groups struggling for independence. In 2007, a new surge in violence occurred.
Since the development of Berberism in North Africa in the 1990s, there has also been a Tuareg ethnic revival.
Since 1998, three different flags have been designed to represent the Tuareg. In Niger, the Tuareg people remain diplomatically and economically marginalized, remaining poor and not being represented in Niger's central government.

happy four year publiversary to the little stabby queer book that made me an author <3
THE PERFECT ASSASSIN came out March 19th 2019 and it's been a RIDE. I don't normally make a thing about bookversaries, but there have been so many downs on the publishing rollercoaster of late that I've had to stop and just appreciate:
I'm here.
And I have a book out! Three books out! And they're all good, IMNSHO, and they're all stabby and they're all queer and I really wish they'd gotten more of a chance to shine, but that's just publishing (and the pandemic 😬)
But I have to be honest with you, I have cried a lot this past week, I have despaired a lot this past year--that I'd ever publish again, that I'd ever finish a book again, that I'd survive in this industry. And I did finish a book only to immediately trunk it, and now I have nothing to show for those four years except empty hands and a heavy heart.
And the cockroach-like will to keep going.
Because I'm certainly not the only author in this boat, not the first, definitely not the last. We've all cried a lot these past years, so maybe if we take a moment to celebrate a book that's been out and already long forgotten (remainders, anyone?), we should. We deserve to.
Happy anniversary, Amastan. 🖤🤍💜

just discovered that amastan from the perfect assassin wasn’t even a major character in the drafts, much less one with his own book, until the author changed their mind and made what was supposed to be the first book ~the sequel~ in exchange for publishing amastan’s story first *crumbles*
#❣️#my favorite character in this series was originally a throwaway….i don’t even want to imagine what that would’ve looked like#this is such a niche post i should’ve just sent this to the only person who even knows what series i’m referring to#(‘the chronicles of ghadid’ by k.a. doore)#booklr
