Do your chickens lay their eggs in the same spot or do you have to hunt the whole farm everyday?

During the winter they mostly all lay in the chicken house. But when the weather gets nice, some of them start having hidden nests outside. It can make you insane, you’re searching ten acres for these damned eggs because it’s obvious you’re getting a lot fewer, and they are super good at hiding them.

I think our biggest hidden nest so far had like 60 eggs in it. Little shits.

Just checking to make sure you're okay and Orion are okay. I heard about a shooter on the loose in Mesa.

All okay here. Mesa is a mostly a huge sprawling suburb of tract homes. I’m sure we’re far from anything going on. (But I’m going to check the news now just to see what’s up.)

What exactly are house parents? Is that like head of house at Hogwarts?

They are the people who deal with all the "parenting" type issues that come up. They spend the night in the building and take the kids to doctors, etc.

I wish they would just let her call as much as she needs to for now. She wants to share her day with you and if not doing this makes her sad, then that's not a lesson to teach her. My opinion.

They want her to call less because she's not really connecting to her peers. She is using her free time to call us instead. I get the impulse and don't disagree. Aaron and I were starting to worry that her calls were getting in the way of making friends. It is a bit of an issue for her. She just doesn't really think to 'hang out'. She enjoys the other kids, but doesn't seem to have a super social impulse. Because they are building community, they want to nurture that in her. I think the main problem is how Sylvia reacts to 'rules.' She doesn't want to feel like she's breaking the rule, but she lets it get her all worked up. Hopefully, they can talk to her and clarify things for her.

maybe check ins? a quick ten minute, time locked call every day, and a long call on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays? i struggled with homesickness at away camps when i was her age.

I think that's what we need. She can call every day, but we should keep it to 15/30 minutes.

What app is this?

It's the Audible app, and it's really nice! I keep the book I'm listening to on my iPhone, and we've got bluetooth speakers in different rooms that I can use when I'm doing chores and stuff, and then when I go out I can keep listening in my car, and then if I listen on my laptop the next day, it's all "Hey Bridget, looks like you got to 5:26 on this bad boy yesterday on your iPhone. Wanna start there?" and I'm all "Yes. Yes I do."

 The future is neat! ^____^

What's your favorite memory of Halloween? Favorite costume you wore (can be divided into kid and adult)?

I’m oddly really having a hard time thinking of a favorite memory.

Well, the last 6 years or so, I’ve been going to my friend Maria’s Halloween party. One of my favorite years, I dressed up as Velma from Scooby Doo. We ended up combining parties with her neighbors. That party had a lot of memorable moments, but two stand out the most. A guy we call Sleeper (actually, that is his last name) dressed up as the Joker in the nurse costume from The Dark Knight, found a giant silver lawn ball outside, brought it inside and tried to leave it on Maria’s bed. She caught him, so we ended up just rolling around on it and taking pictures in her spare room.

The other memorable moment is that while we were outside playing flip cup, one of her neighbors (a girl with zombie makeup on) was heading back inside and ran smack into the glass door, leaving a face print on the glass. She ended up being ok, but then Sleeper ran inside, dying with laughter, and telling everyone else what they missed.My favorite costume ever would have to be my Lt. Uhura uniform. I’ve gotten a lot of mileage out of that one over the years since I made it too.

The neighbor was harvesting beans today. The air is full of dust, it's hard to breathe and when it was still light out it looked smoggy. I think he'll finish tonight. He has lots of help.
