Hi-ho, Wudge here!

I put my back into some real expression coding progress. Same as before - something feels 'missing' from Warden's set, it just doesn't feel like him. Haven't figured out what to do about it yet. BUT. I skipped ahead to code Griffin and Jade's expressions, and they feel great! So, whatever this expression-coding problem I have is, I at least know it's isolated to Warden. I'll get it figured out one of these days.

Here's Griffin giving you a rad high five.

With Griffin in particular, I was able to make expressions feel more apt to the character by... increasing the upper lip size slightly. Behold!

.... Barely noticeable, right?

But it's noticeable to me!!!

That'ssss... about it for now. Writing is still daunting, but I'm sure I'll get around to it.

I started a new hobby! Drawing! I joked with my sibling (a legit artist) that if I start learning right now with my gifted sketchbook and borrowed “How to Draw” books, I’ll be able to create the art for HBG in about ooo 8-9 years 🤪

I braided my own hair for the first time?? With color for the first time (pink ombre)??? And it turned out nice??????

And I posted another (meme-y) Tiky-Toky, and if you follow and wonder why I’m not advertising my own games, cool because same here!! But if you’re easily amused like me, maybe seeing my goofy personality will convince new players to try HSDJY and Crushed...?

Crushed Updates

Beautiful people, progress is being made! I unfortunately don’t have a better release date other than “Summer 2023″ right now because I still need the rest of the sprites, and I’m rewriting chunks either because I have new insight on characters, or a better way to articulate something, or I’m broke and have let Scope Creep whisper in my ear 😂

Currently working my day job and budgeting my butt off so we can commission the rest of the art. Speaking of, I finally finalized the references for the rest of the characters! (Outfits are so hard. Outfits for guys are so. Hard. 😭) So now my artist will know how everyone else is supposed to look, whooo!

I’ll continue to share screens when I can, and post responses to ask games, tagged with #crushedvn so you can follow along. Sundays are our usual day, but I want to post things on Tuesday too since that’s the day for the #AmareTeaBreak on the bird app and it would be nice to have a prompt to follow over here.

A Customizable Protagonist: Choose your name, pronouns, and personality

Personality: Shape your personality with a combination of four traits: Bravery, Kindness, Wisdom, and Charisma. At times, you may make choices that shape your personality. You may also find yourself, or others, reacting according to your personality. Live your life multiple ways, and find out what happens.

Free Time: 18 total Free Time dates. Choose from four locations and go on a date of your choosing with any of our love interests.

Codex: Understand the world of Alaris more with a codex that updates as you learn more information.

Dragon Energy Vision: Tap into one of the MC's special abilities to see the dragon energy auras of the cast.

Character Profiles: Revisit dates that you've been on with any of our love interests. Hear a small sample of voiced lines from each of them. And rewatch CGs you've unlocked for them.

These are just a few of the features included in the current demo of Alaris. The game includes 60,000+ words of content, 150+ choices, 9 unlockable CGs, and 6 character "endings."

Alaris | Chapter 2 Release!

The Second Chapter of Alaris is officially out now!

It’s finally here! The second chapter of Alaris!! Thank you to everyone who has been so patient, kind, and supportive while I’ve developed this thing. The kind words honestly mean the world and make such a difference <3 I’m so proud and excited to announce the official release of Chapter 2!

In this release, you’ll be able to enjoy some new features as well as more developed old ones, like our new dragon energy vision and the expanded personality function. You’ll also obviously be able to read the next chapter to our little world. For those who are new to the game and for those who have already played the first chapter, we hope you enjoy this release and the new content that is featured! Without further ado, we would like to present Chapter 2 :’)

The Story:

Long ago, dragons imbued their life force into the earth, allowing humans to tap into their energy and carry on their legacy centuries later. Now, dragon energy has been integrated into nearly every aspect of human life; the industrial lifestyle humans had pursued centuries ago are now a thing of the past, replaced by a peaceful lifestyle where humans live side by side with nature and the magic of the dragons.

Even humans have been dramatically altered by the magic of the dragons, with many now having magic energy of their own. Indeed, the sacrifice the dragons made years ago have led to an almost utopian fantasy life for humans.

However, not all is as it seems… What forces are lurking under the surface, threatening to expose truths that have been long forgotten and disrupt this utopia?

The Game:

Hematita 3. Mathias

THE wood finally breaks, and smoke escapes through the new hole in the door. Instead of stepping back and yanking your leg free, you push forward and walk through the dense purple fog now billowing to the castle corridors—splinters and danger be damned.

"Mathias!" Your voice comes strained when you shout. Because of the smoke or the worry, you're not sure. "Where are you?"

"I'm here." His voice is low. He coughs, laughs, chokes in the smoke, and laughs again. "Remind me to never try the leather coloration spell again."

You see his silhouette cutting the smoke, and only then do you manage to sigh. You run to him and clasp his hands. He locks eyes with you and lets out an embarrassed chuckle; a little boy caught in the middle of mischief. His hands are cold when he cups your cheek.

And purple. His hands are purple.

Your thoughts race. Mathias's hands aren't usually this cold—you know them well—and to be this color, it must mean the blood is already freezing in his veins. You can't imagine what could've caused him to contract the sickness and speed it so much, but you can only think this is the Azure Taint in its most developed stage.

Goddess, why?

You see images of him bedridden and shivering, drinking nothing but the soups he hates. What would happen to him? Could Filtchen help him and the Queen at the same time?

Would he... die?

"Mathias!" You grab his wrists and tug him outside.

"Please, I'm fine."

"No!"

Out of his study chambers and under the daylight, you blink to clear your blurring vision, throw a gauntlet off, and press a warm, calloused hand on his neck, to feel his pulse. It quickens under your touch—and it races when you lean in and press your cheek against his lips, keeping his face there long enough to feel his warm breath hitting the side of your face.

... Thirteen. Fourteen. Fifteen seconds.

Warming up and no shivers. Good. His temperature seems normal, and his heart, too.

You step back and study his face.

"I... I'm pretty sure the gesture usually works the other way," he teases.

He's pink now, a slightly darker shade of it on his cheeks. And now yellow, blue, then purple again. His skin changes before your eyes, jumping from one hue to the next. You frown. Mathias sighs.

"As I said, remind me to never try the leather coloration spell again." He groans. "I'll try to solve this for myself, but if I can't... I'll have to ask Master Curio for help. Tsk. I bet my right hand they'll try to give me a lower mark on my next test."

You shake your head, willing your heart to calm down. He's okay. He's safe.

"Well, I'm sure Master Curio will have a good laugh, My Liege." You smirk. "And I'm sure they'll help you undo all this damage once you fail. Just try not to draw too much attention in the meantime."

Mathias quirks an eyebrow. "So you think I'll fail, do you?"

"Yes, My Liege." You narrow your eyes. It's your little vengeance for the scare he gave you. "But don't worry, you look quite striking as a Nacre Prince. Not quite Opalean—but close enough."

Mathias scoffs and rolls his eyes. "Yeah, well. You should see me in a crown. A proper crown."

You chuckle. Before you can stop yourself, you tuck a lock of his hair behind his ear.

"I can't wait to see it, My Liege."
