as for further world building in my silly little thoughts ian and anthony are mayor and first mayor (i know there is no mayoral equivalent to first spouse but there is Now) just like they're dad and step dad. i think spencer also has something to do w that because i love that moment that angela pointed at him and said "that's why you're the mayor of this town" in happy wheels and really no reason other than that. kiana is the one actually running the town we all know that. i think tommy works at the paper with amanda. tommy and amanda coworkers is not a want but a need actually.

trevor works with arasha in some capacity simply because i think they're so sweet together like arasha is cheering on trevor all the time and they have their mind meld moments which is so cute. i don't want to force trevor into the chef box but him running a local restaurant that arasha supplies some things is SO cute to me. shayne and trevor beef in universe is shayne jokingly calling trevor competition to chanse's saloon.

you've already seen my frantic reblog spam about this. i'm glad i finally finished reading this. the quarter 3 of it was kind a low point but i think it really captured me again by the end (however, i think the like... FINAL two pages are really scream "remember! that this is technically inspired by some real history!" in a way i found unneccesary and kinda too me out of the satisfaction of the end). i think the ending worked for me because Ma was really underused (i know it would have made the book kinda bloated but i would have loved a chapter or two of her perspective holding down the fort and dealing with internal politics while Zhu was away doing war things....), so her role in the finale was what really solidified it for me. this book drove me crazy in a great way, i think so many people should read She Who Became the Sun and then this sequel

Because there has never been a true friendship other than something occasional and momentarily just as Taylor was still Alex's girlfriend, as soon as the relationship ended the friendship with these people ended too. This is also applicable between Louise, Amanda and Katie // nah I think ur wrong on this. I think this is accurate when it comes to Katie, but I think there’s more we don’t know w lola and Taylor. taylor unfollowed zack/Lola, she still follows Katie, miles, and many other mutual friends. clearly something specific happened with them for her to unfollow, when she had posted for their engagement AFTER she had already broken up with Alex. I think Taylor was hurt by lola being nice to Louise/ defending Alex (maybe both). They were clearly close and she probably expected lola to dislike louise on her behalf, but she played nice for alex’s sake and Taylor felt betrayed (can’t rly blame her). It’s clear lola isn’t close with louise at all (another case of louise constantly commenting on lola/zacks photos and then never reciprocating), she clearly is just friendly bc it’s Alex’s gf and not bc she cares abt her. I think she was genuinely close with Taylor but that Taylor expected her to choose her side instead of alexs, which was never gonna happen, so they stopped being friends.

A big neural net reviews a smaller neural net's recipes

I’ve used various neural networks to generate recipes, to varying degrees of success. My earliest recipes were generated with char-rnn, which had to learn everything - spelling, punctuation, words - entirely from scratch. Its recipes were terrible (Swamp Peef and Cheese, anyone? Or Chocolate Chicken Chicken Cake?). Later when I started using GPT-2, I was using a neural net that had already seen a lot of recipes online during internet pre-training, and its recipes looked a lot more realistic (although not entirely realistic - there was that recipe for Black Forest Cake that suggested pouring the batter into a toaster, or the jello recipe that starts with “remove all internal rinds”).

GPT-3, an even more powerful text-generating neural net, has seen so many recipes during its internet pre-training that its recipes are boringly plausible. Bake its Black Forest Cake recipe and you’d probably actually get cake at the end, even if it’s not the best cake in the world. Its recipes aren’t funny at a glance, which is why I haven’t posted any of them - until internet linguist Gretchen McCulloch suggested that, rather than have GPT-3 generate its own recipes, I have it rate char-rnn’s recipes. Readers, it worked.

I prompted GPT-3 with two example recipes from allrecipes, each followed by 3 of their human-written reviews. Then, for the third recipe I inserted one of char-rnn’s recipes:

Chocolate Chocolate Cake

1 cup sugar 1/4 cup butter 1 cup margarine 1 cup cocoa 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup margarine 1/2 cup pecans, chopped 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 egg yolk 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup chopped pecans 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup cocoa 1 teaspoon vanilla

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, salt, and salt in a large bowl. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils and stiff peaks form. Add milk and cook until mixture is completely melted. Remove from heat and stir in sugar and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Spread in batter. Sprinkle with pecans.

Yield: 1 servings

And then I let GPT-3 add reviews. Would it mention the excessive lakes of vanilla? The complete lack of flour? The foolhardy reliance on the heroic efforts of a single egg yolk to hold things together?

First, I used Dove Dark Chocolate cocoa instead of Hershey's, no nuts, and the mashed bananas and caramel topping were a must. I did use coffee instead of the hot water, and dark margarine instead of regular, therefore I could not use light whipped cream, but I made homemade whipped cream. It had WAY too much flour in it, but i guess it could have been me measuring heavier than I should have. I also only used 2 cups of flour. it was my first bundt cake, so it was huge!!!

Here’s another batch of reviews, this time of a more chaotic char-rnn recipe:

Simple Soup Alaborate Soup Pie

6 each chopped white perserves; ** (optional but ring) 1/2 cup chopped fresh marjoram 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme 1/3 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup thinly sliced onion 1/4 cup onion (chopped) 1/2 teaspoon garlic; minced 2 small carrots 6 can dry white wine 1 tabasco sauce 1 tablespoon sugar 1/2 cup flour, whipped topping 2 tablespoon chili powder

Marinate: Serves 4. Whip and short under boiling. Add the sliced mushrooms and peppers and stir to coat. Stir the sugar and carrots. In large bowl, beat the egg to make a 1 1/2 tablespoons of the flour. Add shanks and stir it well. Spoon into a frying pan before serving.

Hammy Rating: 5 stars The g iving this as a gift as it takes about 10 less minutes but using American cheese and not blended with parsley flakes, lime-flavored gelatin, which is my husband's favorite dish from SuperValu. Just happens to be the creamy sauce. Don't worry about a pie crust.

In fact, the more chaotic the char-rnn recipe, the more chaotic the reviews tend to be, as if GPT-3 has picked up on the chaos and is trying to somehow produce reviews that could plausibly be written by whatever weird humans are visiting this mangled recipe website.

Geilded Peanuts & Crabmeat Basil

In a large bowl set aside. Remove the sides from the heat and saute with a fork and cover and cook on Low for 6 to 6 hours.

Morales Rating: 0 stars 03/30/2008 I had high expectations for this recipe, but it was an outright flop. I don't know if the measurements were somehow incorrect or what, but I ended up with a watery mess that certainly wasn't crab salad. My girlfriend, who is a new chef liked it fine, but I really wish that the recipe didn't claim that it made six servings when it really made enough for one, if that's what we were going to call it.

It does kind of make sense that GPT-3’s recipe reviews aren’t directly complaining about the utter weirdness of char-rnn’s recipes. Probably very few of the recipe reviews in GPT-3’s training data involved baffled complaints about nonexistent or repeated ingredients, or apocalyptic levels of recipe failure. So GPT-3 has learned that even the critical reviews tend to fall within a certain sentiment range. It’s interesting that it tries to emulate char-rnn’s primitive neural net glitchiness - I’ve noticed before that GPT-3 seems to be capable of pretending to be a much simpler neural net.

Subscribers get bonus content: After generating a few reviews, GPT-3 would sometimes go on to generate new recipes (such as “BBQ Cheeseburger Salad” which contains lime jello, whipped topping, and sliced black beans). It may have been deliberately trying to make them terrible to fit in with char-rnn’s recipes.

amanda convinces lucien to do like, cool goth makeup videos and put them on youtube/instagram. she helps him with filming and doing photography of final looks and together they get a lot of followers. sometimes she’ll guest star in his videos if he needs a face model other than his own

amanda’s kinda freaked out by christie and christian at first but over time gets used to and sees past their “creepy twin shtick” and, much like her dad [in the joseph brownie date] learns to use it to mess with them and possibly other people

at first chris probably doesnt talk to amanda a lot and keeps to himself when she’s over, but maybe over time she’d adapt to him and learn a few things hes interested in and express gentle interest in those things to kind of help him open up to her more

chris gets quietly attached to her like shes an older sister

the kids going to each others’ anything to support them!! when theyre in clubs and activities that put on shows or performances or other sports games, as many of the neighbors that can make it are there

when they get older, they try to be more and more obnoxious to embarrass their neighbors in front of everyone, like making huge support signs and banners with glitter with a stupid yet supportive pun that one of their dads helped come up with, or printing their neighbor’s face on a tshirt or a giant cutout on a popsicle stick, shouting as loud as possible 

they def went to amanda’s actual graduation and PROBABLY ALL CRIED

a lot of this has amanda centric bc i Love Her, but also,,

maybe hugo and craig start going to wrestling matches together [+dadsona] so ernest sees a lot of the cahn kids. if amanda’s in town, she’s with them and in charge. if not, ernest is technically in charge, but secretly [not so secretly probably] the dads are counting on briar and hazel [briar, mostly] to keep things from falling to disaster for the few hours theyre out

carmensita goes through a goth phase after she goes over to lucien’s to be babysat one day. mat does not know how to Deal bc this isnt the type of music hes used to playing but he loves and supports his daughter regardless and likes to hear her singing all kinds of music to broaden her horizons and strengthen her talent

it becomes a war of sending pics of each other to each other/the group without getting caught. lucien and ernest probably act like they think it’s stupid but get so competitive about it

they all keep score and it probably also would extend to taking stealthy pics of cul de sac dads too Just Because

the dads find out about the competition somehow and like,,, secretly are so into who’s winning. especially brian and dadsona. sometimes they’ll try and serve as a distraction for their child to get a sneaky pic so they can win, but usually the kids prefer the solo missions

val comes and visits sometimes with cool stories. sometimes she brings her girlfriend, and amanda especially looks up to them like two cool older sisters [i dont remember if it was jacket pins or photography that val said her gf is into, but whatever it is i’m sure amanda would geek out about it with her]

christie and christian eventually grow out of their “creepy twin” thing but still have a more unique brand of humor/personality. the cul de sac kids are used to them by then, and will THROW DOWN with anyone that bullies them/ calls them freaks or anything like that, or anyone that picks on chis [and eventually crish] by association or for any other reason

Summary: Diana stumbles across something she’d rather not see, and becomes more heartbroken

Diana’s mind and Diana’s heart were racing each other, screaming violently to see who had the loudest voice, or, that’s what she imagined based on the pounding in her head and the rhythms and counter rhythms of her thoughts.

‘You were stupid to think anything otherwise,’ Diana thought. ‘She’s not worth your time.’

‘Naïve Prodigal girl, entirely too tightly wound,’ she found herself wanting to bash her head into something just to get the thoughts to stop. ‘How could anyone ever love you?’

It was true Diana had admirers, suitors, plenty of people willing to throw themselves at her feet, but all of those things were only in speculation, people who were infatuated with her name and the weight it carried, and none that were actually interested in who she was as a person. Hannah and Barbara were her friends, sure, but she had isolated herself from them due to their blatant worship.

She supposed, in many ways, Akko and Amanda deserved each other. And what did she deserve? She, the girl whose bitter calm could extinguish the sun, and drain light from the sky entirely, did not deserve the girl who was the iridescent twilight glow of a thousand different constellations, interwoven across the sky like a blanket of light. The lives she had to lead, the girl she pretended to be for everyone else’s sake, meant nothing to that light. Amanda was a free form, and could love Akko in the many ways Diana simply couldn’t bring herself to do. And that was part of the jealousy boiling inside of her, the feeling clawing at her lungs and banging on her chest like desperate, caged animal, determined to be free of whatever ache had settled inside of her. But Diana knew there was no sedating it, because there was no way Akko could ever hold interest in her.

Akko rushed through the halls, calling out Diana’s name in a frenzy. Her legs, as strong and nimble as they were, had been burning from all the energy she’d forced into them and she all but collapsed when she turned around one final corner to find, once again, another empty corridor. “Damn,” Akko cursed between fits of breathes, “I lost her...”

Not that it mattered, any how. Akko wasn’t sure exactly what prompted her to go chasing Diana in the first place other than the fact that she was trying to ensure Diana would, in fact, understand that what she saw with Amanda wasn’t what she might have thought it to be, and that Akko’s feelings towards Amanda were purely platonic and Diana was, in fact, the girl of her dreams. That seemed a lot easier in her head than when she tried practicing it aloud to herself.

“Well you see, Diana, Amanda and I are just friends. And Amanda slipped into my lap because I told all of my friends that I was--”

“Akko!”

“Diana?!” Akko whipped around, listening for the voice in the distance. It wasn’t quite as melodic as Diana’s was, but Akko was willing to suspend any and all disbelief if the universe saw fit to turn her luck around.

That was not the case, however, as Amanda came barreling around the corner, panting. She’d been sent out to find Akko when an hour passed and she still had not returned. “There you are! Akko, everyone’s worried about you, are you alright?”

“I’m fine.” Akko crossed her arms. “I wouldn’t have had to go running off if you hadn’t slid into my lap.”

“Oh come on,” Amanda put her arms behind her back. “I saw the way you were blushing. You were enjoying it just as much as you’re denying it right now. But in any case, you didn’t run off because I decided to play Santa Baby, you ran off because I pissed off your girlfriend.”

“Diana’s not my anything!” Akko screamed, face puffed red. “She hardly ‘graces’ me with her presence at all, and when she does, all she ever does is point out things I can’t particularly help about myself. She’s so feign and I can’t imagine her and I ever getting along long enough for anything to ever become of us!”

“Is that how you really feel?” Amanda’s expression of concern did not falter. “Or is that just what you’ve been telling yourself?”

“W-well...”

Diana had just rounded the corner to reach her room when she heard Amanda and Akko’s voices in the distance. She couldn’t make out sentences but pick up faint trails of words here and there, each one more cryptic than the last. She figured if she walked to the end of the hallway she might be able to pick it up better, but she wasn’t sure she should eavesdrop, especially given what she saw. She took soft, lethargic steps, each one feeling more and more leaded before she’d even reached the end of the hallway. She stopped when she was within a good hearing range, but far enough away that she could dash off at a moment’s notice and be ultimately undetected.

“...because I pissed off your girlfriend.” Amanda said, in a sly remark. Diana had no idea what was being said, or who Amanda was referring to, but it only made the slight ache in Diana’s chest pulsate in that moment, an incessant throbbing. She tightened her posture as Akko spoke, and was ultimately taken aback by what was said next.

“Diana’s not my anything!” She was so petrified at the thought of her name juxtaposed with girlfriend in Akko’s mind that she could hardly think to listen any longer. But she did, catching every anger-saturated word with a grimace. “... She’s so feign and I can’t imagine her and I ever getting along long enough for anything to ever become of us!” Diana stopped listening in that moment. She couldn’t take hearing any more, regardless of what Amanda might have to say on the matter. She turned and headed back to her room without another word, the tears in her eyes speaking for everything she couldn’t quite say.

“Is that how you really feel? Or is that just what you’ve been telling yourself?”

“W-well...” Akko had started to say. “I-I’m not really sure. I’ve just... been feeling really weird about the awkward air between us. Like- I know the lovelove bee is supposed to bring people together but it drove the wedge between us in deeper and I feel like she just seems to hate me? I don’t know if my desire to have her in my life is anything to consider.”

“Akko,” Amanda chuckled, “I think you’re in love...”

“Love?” Akko blushed. “I wouldn’t go that far!”

“You’re infatuated with her, aren’t cha?”

“Well, I suppose but I don’t know if I would use the word--”

“Look, Akko. You like Diana. There’s no denying that. I think you should talk to her.”

“You think so?” Akko tilted her head. “What if I say something wrong? What if she doesn’t like me back?”

“Akko, you can’t get it wrong if it’s the truth. Besides, what could possibly go wrong?” Amanda was speaking from the perspective of someone who had never once been heart broken. 

“Y-yeah,” Akko agreed, even if she didn’t actually agree. “What could go wrong?”

it recently occurred to me that my followers don't really know me that well! you guys see me post selfies and go off on random rants but probably don't know much? lol. I have thousands of yall and I only know a couple of you guys 👀 just for the record, my name is amanda rose arena, I'm 21. I've lived in California my whole life. I have a twin brother who I love very much. I have awesome friends, a dog and a rabbit. I work at a painting company with my dad, and coach middle school bball teams over the fall n winter. I go to community college, I plan to possibly be a massage therapist or p.e teacher but who really knows! I sucked at school my entire life honestly, barely got by. I don't have a full idea of what I'll be doing the rest of my life and that's okay. I am not into materialistic things, I wear things for years at a time lol. I have never cared for a big house or expensive cars. I actually know nothing about cars..even my own. I am not obsessed with traveling like a lot of people seem to be, I do want to go to Portland though. I go to a lot of concerts, I like music of many kinds. It could range from metal to indie to electronic. Lately i've been going through an edm phase, I plan to learn how to make it too. I am only learning the basics of my keyboard and Logic Pro, but stay tuned for the future hahah. As you have probably noticed, I am gay. extremely lmao. I am here now and Im chillin. I've met many great people since then and had many cool experiences. I've met amazing girls that I would not have gotten the chance to meet if I was still with my ex! let go of that toxic relationship if you're in one yall. I don't have nearly as much anxiety, I don't have to constantly worry about somebody leaving me. Even if somebody were to leave me I feel as if I've gained a sense of individuality and confidence. hey!! im tryna get into the nwhl and i was told you would be a good person to come to just to ask about your fav teams and players just to tell me some basic stuff about them?

If you’re completely new to the league i’d recommend reading THIS & THIS it has basic facts on how to follow the league + links to all the NWHL twitters which you in my opinion must follow to follow the league & they give insight on the players & the teams ! + They’re really cute and have a bunch of interactions.

OK this turned into more of a me talking about some of my faves on every team + some basic info about the teams! And since I have a lot of strong feelings about this league this post is kinda long so I’m putting facts about my fave players on the 4 NWHL teams under the cut!

NEW YORK RIVETERS: Fell in love with the logo stayed for the players. They’re currently second in the league! They struggled a bit last season but required some really good players this season, Amanda Kessel, Kaleigh Fratkin, Rebecca Russo for example! This team just makes me really happy! They all seem to get along so great and many of the players are rooming together (Rafter and Johnston, Kessel & Burke & Russo for example). They’re all very supportive of their former goalie Nana Fujimoto who played in with them last season but left to prepare for the Olympics! The team also lost Jenny Scrivens another goalie who holds a special place in my heart and helped this league grow a bunch! She worked for the NWHL when she wasn’t playing for the Riveters.Madison Packer #14 is my all time favorite hockey player, she’s a very offensive forward! She’s a vet who’s been with the team since the start and has had the A for as long! She’s the YCP ambassador for the Rivs too & have spent a lot of time on twitter calling sexists and yikes ppl out! She has a really cute dog called Zoey! She also know like 3 sentences in swedish so i’m sold!!!Ashley Johnston #10! The captain herself! She’s also been with the team since the start and has worn the C the entire time! She’s on defense and she’s the tallest player in the league! I fell completely in love w her when I saw THIS video of her girlfriend proposing to her on the ice :’) also how great is it to have a WLW captain! She’s also the biggest Star Wars fan and has a stormtrooper onsie she dresses up in. She’s very cute and a great captain who have talked a lot about the changes the NWHL are going through and how it affects the player etc. she cried while announcing the salary cuts to the team.Tatiana Rafter #7 One of the off season signings! She played for the Beauts last season but went unsigned until the last second of the off season more or less! She wrote THIS great piece on not being no1 and accepting your place in the world etc. that piece and quotes from it has meant a lot to me since i graduated! She’s just a great personality who keeps on giving to the fans, she recently made an 8min long video supporting a 7 y/o girl who got bullied for playing hockey.BUFFALO BEAUTS: My second fav team and the imho most underrated team in the league! They’re currently last in standings but last year they faced Pride in the Isobel Cup Finals! Since then they’ve lost a couple of key players (Meghan Duggan for example) but they’re still a great team! Kelley Steadman #3 one of this years All Star Captains! And the MVP of last years ASG! A great forward who’s key payer in WHL history! She used to play for the Boston Blades in the CWHL and won a championship with them. And she scored the first ever Beauts goal! She’s also a big scorer & helper with 10 points in 8 games this season! I believe she’s just a practice player, or at least was last year, but she’s still one of the bigger names in the league which is really cool!Emily Pfalzer #7 She’s the shortest NWHL player (5′2!), And the captain of the Beauts for the second year in a row! She was one of the ASG Captains last season and participated this year too!Harrison Browne #24. AKA Brownie! A very important player in hockey history, first out trans man in pro US sports! He’s a great guy who too has played two seasons in the league. Watch his gr8 Youtube channel where you can get to know him more HERE. He was the fan picked All Star at this years All Star game & scored 2 goals for Team Kessel! He has two(?) pet ferrets!!! Which is the cutest thing ever probably. His jerseys was among the top most sold ones before the break!

CONNECTICUT WHALE: Probably the cutest logo lbr? It’s a whale! They are doing well this season and are competing for the second spot! They lost a great player & leader this season when Molly Engstrom left to go play in the SDHL, but they replaced her with Meghan Huertas who’s been doing great so far! Also fun fact they have 3 Nicole’s on the team, what’s up with that? Anya Battaglino #4 fan favorite and a veteran from last season, plays both defense and as a forward! She’s really interactive with fans and along with Tatiana Rafter she did live on ice interviews with the All Stars during the 2017 ASG. She doesn’t play all the games, and spent a good time last year with an injury. But! When not on the ice she’s very active on social media and sometimes does live commentary! She’s a great person and she’s truly devoted to growing the game. She was recently named director of the NWHL Players Association, to keep a more open dialogue between the players and the leagues board!Kelly Babstock #8 Crazy good forward! She finished the 15-16 season with 26 points in 18 games! Meaning that she too is on her second year with the league. She’s one of few Canadians in the league, and was the first canadian to score a goal in the NWHL! 

BOSTON PRIDE: The most stacked team with almost all USWNT players (so that they are close to USWNT training camps), currently 1st in the league and haven’t lost a game all season. They won the Isobel Cup last season and have managed to keep most players from that run on the roster! They’re a really close group of players which is really nice! Sweet logo & great fanbase. There’s talk about the USWNT players not playing in the NWHL season next year to prepare for the Olympics which will cost the Pride about half their roster if not more. So a team with change on the horizon!Brittany Ott #29 The best NWHL goalie without doubt, she’s crazy good! In an ongoing bromance with Brianna Decker and most of her team tbh (as in people asked if they were dating). One of the many players who transferred from the CWHL. YCP ambassador for the Pride! One of the biggest supporters of the #14Strong movement to support Denna Laing. Loves Dunkin’ Donut A LOT, as in most of her tweets include her giving them a shoutout. I love her a lot! Very positive and cute person! Carried the Pride to a Isobel Cup win last season.Blake Bolden #10 Player on Team Steadman during the 2017 ASG she won hardest shot! She was the first African American player to play in the NWHL, and has too been with the Pride for 2 seasons! She was on the Pride roster that played the Outdoor Classic against CWHL’s Canadiennes, and was the first and only Pride player to score a goal! Watch this cute interview with her on “though workouts”. Also this piece about her says much about her as a person! She’s a big Boston girl and wants to play there no matter the league!Meghan Duggan #17 One of the first players I stumbled upon! She’s such a good player and has captained team USA for a bunch of years now /they call her captain america). She’s won two olympic silver medals & 6 Worlds medals. She once held a Ted Talk that made me cry where she talks about being a rolemodel and stuff it’s great watch it here. She’s been with the NWHL two seasons but last season she played for the Beauts, but signed with the Pride this season. She’s a good friend and old rival with her teammate Kacey Bellamy (”It’s a grind every time Meghan and I play. (…) I know we’ll laugh about it and talk trash against each other but it’ll be fun and be a healthy rivalry” quote from Kacey Bellamy) and they were at each other quite a bit last season when they were playing on different teams!

I can go on about this league for days but I need to stop myself haha! I hope this helped a bit and I’d love to answer other questions you have too! This is a great league and the website provides with a lot of info. They have all rosters with pics of the players which helps out a lot! I’d follow as many of the players on twitter and instagram as possible! That’s where you learn most stuff, and there’s a bunch of articles and interviews with these players if you dig enough through google! I live by the rule that the players make the team, which might explain why i went off about them more than the team as a whole.

That was both a reaction to this ask and also like my most prominent thought about Mel like 24/7 bc I’m always just screaming about my wonderful perfect amazing girlfriend. I also just saw her answer to the ask you sent and I’m??? So #blessed. And also. so #gay. 

First off since Mel gave her end of the story I have to say that I spent a good portion of the tail end of our two year friendship beating down my highkey crush on her with a stick bc I was SO afraid of creeping her out? I was just like “Shit Melanie is a delicate flower who has never dated anyone in her life and I’ll definitely scare her away if she thinks I’m as 200% gay for her as i suspect I am.” And then there was a lot of hint dropping and like super close more-than-platonic interaction in our group chat with Vik and Em and it got to the point where everyone we knew just? considered us a couple. There was even a ship name. Vik and Em crowned us Melanda. I’d accidentally refered to her as my girlfriend in convo w strangers and coworkers and then felt SO bad about it. I’d overanylize the situation 100000000 times like “Nah we both have too much stuff going on to be in a serious relationship.” “She would’t want something long distance.” “Mel probably wants more college student shenanigans before being stuck in a relationship.” And “Amanda! Stop! Being! Gay! For! Your! Best! Friend!”

I like vividly remember one night I was at work (game master at an escape room), resetting our Bomb Squad room and rolling my eyes cus the group chat was going the hell off in my pocket. So I check it and I had to sit down in the real office chair of the fake office setup and express a very quiet but heartfelt “holy shit” bc Mel was like “I think I actually wouldn’t mind Amanda being my first girlfriend.” And she was talking about how she was walking around Target Realizing ThingsTM and got a Coke and was like “dang it wouldn’t be so bad if amanda was my gf.” And ofc Vik and Em were like “lmao finally” but I was silent bc I was still waiting to wake the fuck up but she hit me up in the group chat like “Was that too much?? Are you okay with that???” And I’m like shit you have no fuckin clue how okay with that I am. And now it’s like weird remembering a time where we weren’t dating and all the time we spent dancing around the subject and being characters in a slow burn mutual pining fanfic seems so silly. 

And I know you said to tell all my thoughts on Mel but there’s no way I can tell ALL my thoughts on Mel bc there are... so many. Basically every other thought I have is some gay shit abt Mel. Foremost though is that she’s just? So perfect? All the time. Like if she sends me a full makeup selfie w nice hair and cute outfit I’m like “!!!!!!!!” But then if she sends me a messy college student selfie with sweats and a messy bun and munching on a leaf chip I’m like “!!!!!!!!”. Like?? She’s so ??? Perfect.And beautiful.  All the time. And I’m gay. And I love her. She’s also just the sweetest most understanding most precious gf in the world? Like we are pretty good about checking up on each others anxiety but she also peeps in to see how my depression is treating me or remembers little things like whether I’ve been eating or feeling well or dealing w family bullshit. There are some times when I’m 100% sure she knows me better than I know me cus like she’ll give me quiet time or space or something when I didn’t even know I needed it. She also just like, the cutest. Ever. She likes petnames? And remembers things? And is generally really fucking adorable 24/7 in my professional onion. 

As for pictures together, that’s tough due to the long distance element of our relationship. However, I am tentatively planning a trip to RTX in July, where we will have the opportunity for gay meetups! And gay selfies!
