There was a post about a month back that bossbeth did a bit of a drabble for about Lena getting drunk and admitting to Kara that she would let Supergirl rail her.

I started one of my own inspired by it but school and work got in the way and now it’s just Lena sitting in Kara’s bed with a hangover, no Kara, and a weird feeling of shame and anxiety and it’s been on pause there for like, 5 weeks. It’s fine. I’ll probably get back to it. Eventually. Maybe.

Okay, so you have informed me that this is about the Unscripted Love series since you forgot to add it, but that I could also do it for Birthday Wish if I wanted to, so I will do both because I love talking about my shit and it’s only really late at night so... 

2: What scene did you first put down?

Well, for unscripted love, it was the very first scene in the first one (Dates), I usually get an idea of a specific scene and then build everything around it, and this idea was starting a scene making it seem like they’re in bed together because they’re having sex, but then they’re actually meeting right there and doing a scene together (I know this is not a super realistic scenario, but who cares)

For Birthday Wish it was the scene where the kid, Liam (it was originally twins but I thought it’d be too much work) shows up at Kara’s door and goes ‘hey, I’m Liam and I’m your son’, specifically this line of dialogue was where it all started. It was practically entirely pulled from the pilot of Once Upon a Time (as it is based on the concept of that relationship), but it’s a trope I like, that a few other shows and movies have done before; Ally McBeal comes to mind rn.

6: What makes this fic special or different from all your other fics?

For both of them, they’re very much AUs, and all my other works are canon corompliant-ish, or at least closer to canon, and both of these are the furthest from canon from anything I had done before.

Usncripted Love is special for me, because I was actually inspired by this real-life story of an actress I’ve liked since I was young, who did like 4 or 5 long projects with the same guy in a short span of time, and they worked so much together that she got her feelings confused and she didn’t know what was real and what was just acting.

And birthday wish is very different from anything I’ve done, specially structurally, I have sections of pov for everyone (mostly the three mcs but others get to play too), each scene has to be a different pov, like I only break a scene to go to another pov, it goes back and forth in timeline so it’s not linear, some scenes are repeated in different povs. I even have this rule of how I can’t repeat like ‘nuclei’, so it has to be Danvers - Luthor - Danvers - Luthor, so if I have Alex having a pov, I can’t follow it with a Kara scene, and a Liam scene can’t be followed by a Lena scene, so it jumps a lot. It can be confusing at first, but I believe that once you get the hang of it, it’s fun. At least it’s fun for me 🤭

11: What do you like best about this fic?

I really like actors aus, I never got to write one before, but I like the possibilities of how you can play with a scene, with what’s real and what’s them acting, like you open a scene, and you think they’re declaring their love for each other, but then someone yells ‘cut’ and you get back to the reality of them not being together. And just how I can get away with using various different scenarios for them. 

I love everything about Birthday Wish, to be honest, but the whole different povs thing is a favorite for me, the going back and forth, the where to break to create the most drama. It’s hard, but it’s very fun and I love it 🥰

Today’s fic recommendation starts with a fic from @amaltheaz with her gift to @spaceman-earthgirl and is still hitting me in the feels more than a week after reading it for the first (of many) times.

Established relationship Supercorp, Sanvers and the kiddo, Lena being both soft and intense while still managing to tease Kara (as she should because the realism in this when it comes to relationships is top notch), and an ending that will literally have you ready to shout.

Every now and then I think about doing a sequel to The makings of a family, I really fell in love with this supercorp family and I'd love to write more of Kara and Lena with baby Clark. Maybe one day!

Tomorrow is... Friday? Hopefully, I’ll get to play video games with pals, otherwise it’ll just be business as usual where I work, shower, have dinner, and spend the rest of the night contemplating what I’m doing with my life.

6. What’s your least favorite thing to draw?I find skeletons both difficult and boring to execute.

19. What is the most difficult thing for you to draw?[Rolling up with the tough ones, are you?? :) ]I’m not very practiced in animals or children, so I’d say those b/c I have difficulties without references, but a lot of other things I can draw without references.

22. Are you confident that you’re improving steadily?I am! And, I’m a firm believer that everything we do and absorb contributes to our artistic skills/sensibilities. For example, even if I draw a shitty flower, I’m that much better at drawing flowers, shitty and otherwise. Or if I see a poster I really like, my brain is filing it away that I like that color combo or composition, etc. I’m a very optimistic artist, I think.

2. What work of yours, if any, are you the most embarrassed about existing? Literally most of my Harry Potter fanfic over on ffnet.

4. Favourite character you’ve written? I absolutely love writing Kara Zor-El and Lena Luthor.

5. Character you were most surprised to end up writing? I once wrote a fic from Neville Longbottom’s perspective and that was ... odd.

7. When asked, are you embarrassed or enthusiastic to tell people that you write? Usually enthusiastic, but the only rub is just that they don’t usually know what fanfiction is.

8. Favourite genre to write? Right now, just gentle fluff, but once I get over that it’s usually complete angst with a happy ending.

19. When it comes to more complicated narratives, how to you keep track of outlines, characters, development, timeline, etc? Honestly, depending on how big the note section gets, I either have a section at the end or beginning of the fic, or an entirely new google doc for the notes. I used to just Full Steam Ahead No Outlines We Die Like Men (TM) it all the way through, but in the last couple years, I’ve taken to outlines. I’m still not sure how I feel about my growth there, but hey it works!
