If amaka was a cat what kind would she be? What would the attitude be as well?
hi hi! first amaka ask from technically yesterday. i am putting evan asks on pause because there are too many and i'm getting behind schedule.
thanks for the ask, wyked! starting off silly. let's get straight into it.
day eight of tcw's 12 days of askmas--amaka as a cat [no spoilers]:
bro i don't know cat personalities, but she wouldn't be the hissy combative type. i imagine her as a maine coon but i don't know why. maybe like... she'd be shy and reserved. not very social, not approachable, but gentle. she wouldn't get defensive, but she wouldn't be super affectionate either. not unless she scared.
i feel like she'd be known for sitting by a windowsill and watching the rain.
thanks for the ask, wyked!

The Blossom surrounded by Fire - Ch. 32 (Warrior AU- HBO MAX)
Tumblr media
Long Zii had called me to his home before I could get settled in mine. I was escorted to their large dining room. Mai Ling stood behind him and Li Yong took his place a few feet in front of them. I bowed at Long Zii but did not speak.
“Amaka, I hear you had trouble in town today. There was a fight between the Fung Hai and Hop Wei.” he said. I wonder who had told him this. News can spread easily, but in regard to me, it was different. Li Yong was with me, so I knew he didn’t inform Mai Ling or Long Zii. I nodded.
“Yes sir.” I replied. He hummed and nodded.
“I heard Father Jun’s son managed to get you out of harm’s way with the Fung Hai.” he said. How did he hear this? I didn’t glance at Mai Ling, but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone from the store told her and then she told her husband.
“Yes sir. I was cornered in one of the stores by both Fung Hai who were trying to kill Young Jun. He talked the Fung Hai into letting me leave the store unharmed.” I told. Mai Ling nodded.
“The Fung Hai wouldn’t have hurt you due to our business with them.” she told. Long Zii nodded in agreement.
“Due to some past aggressions starting with us breaking the treaty, I want to ensure that we can still maintain peace after the boxing tournament that will take place next week. You are allowed on Fung Hai territory and the Hop Wei do not bother you when you must move through their territory. I would like you to visit either Father or Young Jun and thank them for looking out for you. Then I would like you to go to the fan tan tables and thank Zing for allowing you to leave the fight unscathed. I would like you to offer your services, only one time, to both tongs on behalf of the Long Zii. I know you have taken care of both tongs before joining my own and I am sure they would be grateful for your help.” he said. Both Mai Ling and Li Yong looked at the elder different emotions swimming in their eyes. I was used to being given orders like this, so I didn’t let my look of disgust play on my face.
I leaned forward and bowed some.
“Yes, Long Zii, I will do this.” I replied. He nodded, appeased.
“Sooner rather than later.” he instructed. I nodded and turned and left the room. I decided not to go to them today. I needed to get my ingredients sorted and take inventory of what I needed.
The next morning, Li Yong escorted me through Chinatown. I was in one of my older dresses that I wore with Chao, my cloak tied around my body and my hood already on my head. He was quiet, his face distant.
“You are upset.” I replied. He didn’t look at me.
“I promised you that you’d never be a slave, and now our tong is whoring you out.” he said. I shook my head.
“I knew this tong was no different than the others, I knew this was a possibility-”
“Then why would you agree to join us?” he asked finally stopping to look at me. I looked around some trying to ensure no one was in real ear shot of us.
“Because in this tong, there is a kindness in both you and Mai Ling, that I would never have gotten from the other tongs. What I have now, I wouldn’t have with any other tong. I am very grateful to be with your tong, and I want to serve Long Zii just like you do.” I replied. He sighed and looked away before nodding.
“Zing will not ask for healing services.” he said. I nodded.
“I know. But no matter what happens, my heart and my body will always be yours.” I replied lowly. He gave a gentle smile before nodding and we continued our walk. Once we were at the brothel, I saw Ah Toy standing at the front smiling as she saw us.
“Ah just in time, Nellie should be here shortly.” she replied. Li Yong looked at me and dipped his head and I returned it before he turned and smoothly retreated back into the crowd.
“How are you doing in the Long Zii tong?” she asked. I nodded.
“I made the right choice being in that tong.” I replied and she nodded.
After a few minutes, Nellie appeared with a smile for us both.
“Good morning to you both.” she said. The two women took each other’s hands briefly before Nellie looked at me. “Are you ready Amaka?”
I nodded.
“Yes.” I replied and the two of us were off. I walked a few inches behind her, the pond already in sight.
“So Amaka, you’ve been in Chinatown a while?” she asked. I nodded.
“Yes.” I replied.
“Well, where are you from?” she asked leisurely. I wasn’t sure if I felt comfortable answering her question, but I did.
“Tennessee.” I replied. She looked at me stunned.
“You are a long way from home.” She replied. I nodded.
“Thank God.” I replied. The pond was alive and busy. Women in nice dresses were talking to each other, men were discussing the government and news. I noticed colored men in black suits and matching bowling hats with white gloves carrying boxes of shoes and clothes behind white women. Some of them glanced at me and I kept my head down.
“How long have you and Ah Toy been friends?” I asked. She gave a coy grin.
“For a while.” She replied.
“How did you two meet?” I asked.
“Well, I was on a war path trying to liberate women who were forced to sell their bodies in brothels. I have a vineyard where I take them to be truly free. I have rescued many women from horrific brothels, but Ah Toy well she was different. She cares for her girls and never fought against any who wanted to leave.” she replied. “I showed her my vineyard and well our
friendship grew.” I nodded not asking anymore questions.
“Tell me are you free, Amaka?” she asked suddenly. I winced some glancing at her. I could tell she was trying to figure me out, figure out how I came to be where I was now.
“I am free from the man who did this to me and many others.” I replied only gripping my hood. She looked at me with saddened eyes but nodded.
“I am happy you are free as well. If
you ever need support my vineyard is open to all women.” she said. I smiled and nodded.
“Thank you.” I replied.
I could tell many eyes were starting to stare at us with distrust and Nellie caught this.
“Amaka, you may have to remove your hood for a bit. It seems people are getting suspicious
you are with me, so they probably see you as my maid.” she said lowly. I sighed and glanced around noticing more attention. So, I nodded, and gently removed my hood. Now I was fully exposed, and I hated it.
“No one will bother you while you are with me
I’ll make sure of it.” Nellie said firmly as we walked. Men and women who passed us were immediately looking at me with wide eyes, whispering and pointing at my head. We needed to hurry. We made it to the familiar Lawrence Flower shop. I approached Lawrence himself and gave him the list. He nodded and turned and went back behind a door behind his counter.
A blonde woman approached Nellie and I kept my head down.
“Miss, where did you get this woman. Her ears are so different! Are there other coloreds who have pointy ears like hers! I would love to have some maid servants with ears like that!” she gushed. I looked at Nellie who looked at her stiffly faking pride.
“She is the only one of her kind, born of an ancient royal African tribe. Only she will have ears like that. You can’t find any other woman like this.” she said. I had to refrain from giving her a uncanny look. The woman gasped.
“A real royal tribe from Africa!” she asked. Lawrence appeared back and smiled.
“Thank Ah Toy for her business for me.” he said handing me my goods. I nodded.
“Thank you.” I replied.
“How much are you paying her, I could double it!” the woman said. Nellie looked her up and down.
“You can’t afford her,” she said before glancing back at me, “Come.”
I nodded and followed her, leaving the woman whose mouth was agape clearly offended.
“Ancient royal tribe?” I asked lowly and she chuckled.
“If we are going to make up a good back story for you so that you aren’t bothered, might as well be a good one.” she said. I couldn’t help but chuckle and nod as we walked on. As we blended back into Chinatown, I looked at Nellie.
“Thank you for going with me.” I replied. She shook her head.
“It’s my pleasure. Ah Toy means a great deal to me, and I could tell you mean a great deal to her too.” she said. Did I? I knew she trusted me because of Chao, but I didn’t think she cared for me like she cared for her girls. But then again, in some way I am like her girls. Nellie took my hands and gave them a gentle squeeze before we separated. Now it was time to get another task out of the way. I made my way through Hop Wei territory, looking at the different stores and homes I passed until finally, I was standing in front of Hop Wei’s headquarters.
Two men in black suits approached with suspicion and I just nodded at them with a nervous smile.
“Is Young Jun around?” I asked. The two looked at each other before looking me over before motioning me inside. I followed and stood in the large atrium waiting. A familiar face walked passed.
“Amaka?”
I looked over and smiled.
“Ah Sahm, hello.” I replied and he approached with a nod, behind him was a man in brown rags with short black hair and long beads down his chest.
“Hi. What are you doing here?” he asked. I just smiled.
“Just running errands. I see you have a new onion.” I replied looking at the man who just looked at me wide eyed. Ah Sahm nodded.
“Oh yeah, fresh off the boat. This is Long Zii’s personal doctor, Amaka, she has the respect of Chinatown and the tongs. Amaka, this is Hong.” he introduced. I blushed at the introduction but nodded at Hong.
“Hello.” I responded.
“You are gorgeous!” he gushed. I slowly smiled at him and Ah Sahm nudged him quickly.
“Okay, don’t let Bolo or Young Jun hear you say that. Ever.” he replied.
“Don’t let me hear what?”
We all looked over to see Bolo approaching and when he saw me, he paused for a brief moment.
“Amaka.” he said. I gave a respectful smile.
“Bolo.” I replied as he approached immediately before glaring at the other two.
“Get lost.” he commanded and Ah Sahm raised his hands in defense before backing away. Hong just waved at me.
“Bye Amaka!” he said. I tilted my head at him.
“Uh, bye Hong.” he said giving a goofy grin and leaving with Ah Sahm. That man sure is
different. Now I faced Bolo, and he moved closer to me, slowly closing the space between us.
“What are you doing here?” he asked.
“I came to see Young Jun on Long Zii’s orders.” I replied. He looked me over.
“What orders?” he asked. I took a step back.
“That is between Young Jun and I.” I replied. He scoffed.
“He whoring you out to the Hop Wei or something? It was only a matter of time.” he said. I frowned.
“And if he did tell me to sleep with any Hop Wei member of my choosing?” I asked. Bolo’s eyes flexed.
“Wait he’s giving you a pass?” he asked, the hint of desperation in his voice. I scoffed.
“No Bolo. I am just here to thank Young Jun for helping me. That’s all.” I replied. Bolo looked me over some, jaw tight as he looked away.
“I’ve been thinking about you lately.” he said. I glanced at him looking him over.
“And what exactly have you been thinking about related to me?” I asked. He takes my hand and steps closer, his face suddenly pressed into the side of my head. I tensed not expecting such an action as anyone could catch him.
“I miss you.” he said into my ear, his hot breath making me shiver.
“You miss fucking me.” I said.
“I do. I also miss just talking with you.” he said. I feel his teeth suddenly bite on the tip of my ear and I gasp taking a step from his hold.
“Bolo stop it. Like I said I am not your whore.” I said lowly.
“I never saw you as a whore. I- Look I can’t explain it, but everything about you calls to me.” he said.
“We will talk about this another time.” I said.
“When is that time?” he asked aggressively. However he took a step back as Young Jun walked down the hall, a big smile spreading over his face as he sees me.
“Wow pray for some good sticky and God delivers!” he said, and I gave him a look as he approached with a few men behind him. “Amaka, I heard you were looking for me.”
I straightened up and nodded.
“Yes, Young Jun. I just wanted to come and thank you for defending me yesterday. You didn’t have to, but you did. Long Zii heard what you did and so he has permitted me to offer you a onetime medical service. If you or your men are ever in a scrap and you want my help, you need only ask.” I replied. He bit his lower hip rolling his eyes over me.
“A onetime service huh, I would much rather have you perform a different kind of service.” he said. I chuckled some.
“Craving more from our first time I see.” I replied.
“Oh, so much!  Good pussy is hard to come by and you are very much at the top of my list of women I love fucking.” he said. My eyes flexed at how blunt he was.
“Well, I cannot speak to that type of service, but if you ever need me, you have me for one service.” I said. He nodded slowly.
“I’ll keep that in mind.” he said with a purr. I bowed and smiled before glancing up at Bolo and turning from them. “Hey, you gonna be at that boxing tournament coming up?” I looked at him and nodded.
“Yes, are you?” I asked. He nodded.
“Of course, gotta show you Long Zii cunts whose top dog around here.” he said. I grinned with amusement.
“Then I guess I’ll see you there.” I purred as I looked between both he and Bolo and left the building. I finally let out a sigh of relief happy to be out of there.
“One down, one to go.” I said.

With Christmas and New Year’s Day now passed, many immigrants to the United States are filled with memories of home — whether they could travel there in person or not.
Tumblr media
The holidays bring forth beautiful memories for those who now live and work far from the places they were raised and where they still have extended family.
Amaka Ibekwe, a nurse practitioner who works at a family practice clinic in Houston, is one of them. The Christmas and New Year holidays bring back found memories of her childhood years in Nigeria.
Christmas and New Year, which for many people are tied together, always are a joyful celebration in Nigeria. “When I came over to America in 2001, it was a culture shock for me because I did not see the pomp and pageantry associated with (the season) in Nigeria. It was more like a family locking themselves in, decorating their outside. There was not much interaction with neighbors or people around you except if you had family.
“But in Nigeria it was more like Thanksgiving. We celebrated everything. We had food, clothing but we wanted family; we wanted to help people that did not have anything to eat but it’s not the same in America,” she recalled.
“It is always better to celebrate Christmas and New Year in Nigeria. It’s not the same experience over here.”
“It is always better to celebrate Christmas and New Year in Nigeria. It’s not the same experience over here. From a certain date like Dec. 15, everything starts to wind down. Yes, economically it could affect the government, but we are so used to it that we don’t know if it really affects us. From the 20th, almost all the offices are closed but in America it’s more of just buying gifts showing you care for people once a year. In Nigeria, we prepare for it for a week or two and celebrate it for more than two weeks but here is different.”

soaring, carried aloft on the wind...continued 14
A story for Xichen and Mingjue, in another time and another place.
The Beifeng, the mighty empire of the north, invaded more than a year ago, moving inexorably south and east.
In order to buy peace, the chief of the Lan clan has given the Beifeng warlord a gift, his second oldest son in marriage. However, when Xichen finds out he makes a plan.
He, too, can give a gift to the Beifeng warlord, and he will not regret it.

It’s complete on AO3 here.
Notes: Check the tags if you’re concerned about the pairings ;)
For translations of the entirely fictitious Beifeng language, you’ll have to scroll to notes. I’m only going to translate something that’s not clear in the text. Sadly, there’s just not any other good way to do it on Tumblr!

Part 2 Hoakora
hoakora [hƍ-Ă€-kƍ’rĂ€], noun Affectionate regard or friendship between equals
Chapter 14: Now
Xichen pulls the hood of his fur-lined coat over his head before tucking an arm behind his back and following Qingyang out into the snow. He is used to the snow, but winter on the flat land is very different than it had been on the mountain, Xichen thinks. It was not as cold here, but the shearing wind had the bite of dragons in it, and the snow piled high in drifts around the tents. Xichen would not have gone out into this weather at all, but Qingyang had asked for his help. Fortunately, they don’t have far to go.
Even from twenty paces, Xichen can hear the raised voices, and he stifles a smile. Qingyang, on the other hand, grimaces and hunches her shoulders. She hates stepping between two tigers.
“You don’t reduce pay in winter,” Huaisang yells. “That doesn’t make any sense!”
“But why would you pay your army more during an armistice in winter? You feed them, you clothe them. They are idle, Oringa'anhu Ikira, and you are not even encouraging them to be productive.”
Huaisang slams his hand down on a table, and Xichen raises his eyebrows. In the seven months he’s lived with the Ikarahu, he’s never seen Huaisang angry, although, he isn’t sure he is seeing him angry now. There is a sparkle in his eyes that does not speak of anger.
“They are riding formations, they are training in this bitter cold, and they are existing in this forsaken country. They have more than earned their pay.”
Guangyao rolls his eyes, brandishing a leather-bound account book. “Then pay the cavalry extra, but do not pay everyone extra. You will bleed your coffers dry before springtime.”
“If I only raise the cavalry’s pay, how will I explain that to the archers who protect the skies or the foot soldiers who guard their flanks? Or the people who fletch arrows, feed the horses, check their coats, pick their feet, watch for colic, oil their saddles? You pay the soldiers to protect the cavalry, the hostlers to care for the cavalry, and you pay the cavalry to win wars. You may be the Jin clan heir, but apparently, you don’t know the first thing about maintaining a successful army.”
Xichen winces. There are a few things Guangyao is likely to be genuinely offended by, and Huaisang is tiptoeing along an unkind path.
“Anati, Guangyao, will you join us for lunch?” he asks, and the two men look at him with identically aggravated expressions as though they had not noticed he was there.
It is interesting to see them both turn into different people; Huaisang’s expression melts into mirth and Guangyao’s shifts to solicitude.
“Ahora'ipa, did you make food? You know the way to my heart,” Huaisang is always cheerful about food.
Xichen opens the basket he is carrying and takes out the tureen of hot soup.
“Of course I did not make it. Thankfully, you pay your kitchens well,” he teases, smiling at Guangyao, who smiles back ruefully, just the corners of his mouth tipping up, but still revealing the deep dimples that always make him seem younger.
Huaisang is gracious in his triumph, and serves out four bowls of meaty soup at the table in Guangyao’s tent, pushing aside a stack of account ledgers. It is a smaller living space than Xichen’s, more sparsely appointed, yet somehow messier and more inhabited. Books sit open on the bed, and there are papers in piles on every flat surface, some scribbled on, some not. It is one of the contradictions of this man Xichen finds fascinating, that he can be so meticulous in his person, but so disorderly in his space.
“Huaisang, we are bribing you with lunch. I finished the drawings you requested, and if you want changes, I will need to know now,” Qingyang informs him, and Huaisang nods, slurping soup enthusiastically. “And Xichen is here to teach the guqin, so you will need to leave Guangyao alone.”
It had been clear from the beginning that Huaisang’s position in the Ikarahu command was more than merely symbolic, but he usually preferred to hide his intelligence behind a mask of frivolity, and Xichen let him pretend. He tried not to notice the piercing way he watched Guangyao when he thought no one was looking, the soldiers in dark clothes that sometimes came with Huaisang to retrieve Mingjue in the night, or, most damning, Qingyang’s respect for him.
The only time Xichen had seen him reveal what lurked beneath his lighthearted demeanor had been that drunken night, and Huaisang has not said anything about his older sister since then. Xichen hasn’t asked, but the sorrowful words sit at the front of his mind every day.
She is lost to us forever. What else should we do?
Since Guangyao has been here, though, it has changed something in Huaisang, as though he was shooting arrows into the sky before and is now staring at a target. His clever mind has sharpened in a way that could either be productive or disastrous, and Xichen isn’t sure which way he will land.
The voice in the doorway surprises Xichen out of his thoughts, and he is vaguely aware that Guangyao, sitting next to him, straightens his back slightly.
“Edas ahora, I have a gift for you!”
Mingjue strides over to Xichen and kisses him enthusiastically, despite Huaisang’s dramatic groan.
“Will you come see?” he asks, and Xichen pretends to hesitate.
“Outside? In the snow? Ipira’orhew Ikira, you are too cruel.”
Mingjue grins, and Xichen has to fold his hands together to keep from touching his face. “I am. Very. I will prove it later. But first, gift.”
Xichen laughs and gets up. “I resent being threatened, Ipira’orhew Ikira. Perhaps I will be cruel later.”
“I hate you both,” Huaisang grumbles, but he follows them, his curiosity greater than his distaste for being a younger brother.
“Mingjue.” Xichen stares blankly at the shape in the snow, his gift for intelligent language—or any intelligent thought at all—failing. “It’s a horse.”
It was, in fact, a beautiful horse, dark grey with a pattern of light speckles dappling its coat. It looks strong and sturdy, and there is a curious glint in its eyes. The horse pokes Xichen in the chest and huffs a breath of visible air at him, a lock of black mane falling between its ears.
“Oh, another horse,” Huaisang says dryly. “It’s too cold to look at another horse.” He disappears back inside the tent, narrowly avoiding the snow Mingjue throws at him.
“Ta odinga is Liebing,” Mingjue tells Xichen, his excitement coming out in a confusing mix of Orera and Yuyan. “She looks like a cloud. Et irakas ta dakia. She moves well, ani? Mares are better than stallions in war, Xichen. You...hm...em ekos eko em amaka.”
If he does not stop him, Mingjue will tell him every detail of this horse in two languages, so Xichen leans against him and snuggles an arm around his waist. “I am already not disappointed.”
“She is a galau,” Mingjue says proudly, although Xichen doesn’t know what that means. Mingjue notices Xichen’s puzzled look and explains, “She is a wind horse of our mountains and came when I called.”
He whistles to demonstrate, and the mare perks up her ears, swinging her head to him and chuffing as though in answer. Xichen is appropriately awed. The Ikarahu value all horses, but Xichen hadn’t realized that more than only Mingjue’s beautiful black mare would answer his command. He wonders if it is magic or training or some other ingrained horse understanding.
“She is beautiful, ahoraho. Tiras mau,” Xichen says, and tips his head to be kissed. “Yes, she is marvelous. Wherever did you acquire this magnificent creature?” Guangyao asks from behind them, polite, but with an unusual edge of sarcasm.
Guangyao often uses his largest words around Mingjue, but Mingjue always seems to think Guangyao’s attempts to confuse him are amusing. Xichen isn’t sure if Guangyao does it in spite of Mingjue’s reaction or because of it.
As always, Mingjue laughs, a deep belly-driven chortle, grinning at Guangyao. “Horses can be found anywhere, Yao-ti.” Xichen closes his eyes and does not laugh as he realizes why the horse has a Yuyan name. “Ahoraho, did you steal this horse?”
Mingjue widens his eyes and tries to look as innocent as a warlord in armor can look. “I do not know this word, ‘steal.’ I will need to ask anati.”
They both turn at the snorting laughter from behind them. Even Guangyao seems startled by his outburst, because he breaks off as soon as they look at him.
“Excuse me. I must apologize to Oringa'anhu Ikira. His hostlers are worth every penny if they can keep up with Chifeng-Zun’s capacity for finding horses wherever he looks.” Guangyao looks innocent, but there are sudden teeth in his words Xichen doesn’t fully understand. He is not quite angry, not quite longing, but something sardonic in between.
Not for the first time, Xichen wonders who Jin Guangyao really is.
Notes: Oringa'anhu Ikira = This is Huaisang’s title, but the translation is in the next chapter. ;) Edas ahora. = Beloved husband (which Xichen is still mistranslating as “beloved man”) Ta odinga is Liebing. = Her name is Liebing. Et irakas ta dakia. = Her legs are strong. You...hm...em ekos eko em amaka. = You will not be disappointed. -ti is an affectionate pet name diminutive

“Alright class, it’s finally time for Hero Studies Foundation class.”Aizawa declared as the class settled down.
“I’m not the main teacher in charge of this class, but due to the fact that I have to introduce someone, I’ll do that before taking my leave.”
“Introduce?”
“I wonder who it is
?”
“This class is going to have a teacher’s aide during this class,”
“In other words
”
Click click click
“This person is your senpai, a third year student to be exact.”
Click click click
“A third year?!”
“That means that they had gone through all the training that U.A. had in store, right?”
“So that means that they’re really strong, right?”
Click click click
“Strong is definitely the word to describe her, after all
”
“Let’s see, including all the teachers, she is the strongest in U.A. if excluding All Might.”
Click click click
“ ‘She’? So that means it’s a girl?!”Mineta Minoru exclaimed as his thoughts went wild.
‘Wait
If the only person that is stronger than her is All Might, then could it be
’Izuku thought.
Thump
“U.A.’s top student, current pro hero
”Aizawa listed out.
“But seriously though, you guys would most likely know her as,”
“The Princess of the Amaka Family,”
Slide
“Amaka Tsubaki.”
On cue, the long anticipated hero entered the classroom, shocking the students inside with just her presence.
“It’s Snowdrop!”Izuku exclaimed.
XXX
“The goddess series
”Katsuki mumbled under his breath as he glared at the girl who had just entered their classroom.
Amaka Tsubaki had extremely long purple hair that reached slightly lower than her waist, a part of her hair was tied up by a dark blue hair accessory in the middle. Her blue eyes could possibly stare into ones soul easily.
As a girl who is 16, she is definitely tall, having the height of 172cm, but was thin for her size. Even though she may look petite, but the aura she gives out is quite intimidating.
“Amaka Tsubaki, hero name Snowdrop! Younger sister of the Singing Hero Lavender!! Quirk Niflheim! It grants her the authority of the the Goddess Hel from Norse Mythology! Currently at the number 20 spot of the hero rankings in Japan! Led her lineage during the darkest hours just at the age of 6! Earned the Provisional License at the age of 8, the National License at 10 and the absolutely rare International License at 12! She is also the winner of the last two U.A. Sports Festivals that she had competed in!!”Izuku rambled continuously, leaving even Tsubaki speechless.
As he finally finished, Izuku cake to a realisation that of what he just did and his face immediately went red before he was a literal mess.
“I-I-I’m r-really sorry-y
I-I was-”
“Hahahaha
You really know a lot, huh? Midoriya Izuku?”Tsubaki asked as she chuckled a bit.
“S-She knows my name!!”
“Well, let’s just say I did my homework.”Tsubaki replied with a wink.
“By the way
”Tsubaki began as her gaze turned to the back of the classroom.
“It’s been a while, hasn’t it, Shoto?”
Hearing his name, the half-and-half boy looked up.
“Ah, yeah, it’s been a while, Tsubaki-nee.”
“ ‘Nee’?!”
“Wait? What is the meaning of this?! Don’t tell me that Endeavour has secretly-”
“It’s not that, I know Shoto for years personally, it has nothing to do with Endeavour-san.”
“Oh
”
“And here I thought that there’s going to be something juicy
”
“Tsubaki, hurry up, we have to start class soon.”Aizawa ushered as he leaned against the left wall of the room.
“Ara, but I believe that my introduction time has 5 minutes in total, if I’m not mistaken, Oji-sama.”Tsubaki countered.
“Ehhhhh?!”
“Wait, Aizawa-sensei’s last name does start with an ‘A’, could it be that-”
“That’s not it either, Oji-sama’s father is a good friend of my father, we’re not actually blood-related, meaning he is not part of the Amaka Family’s branch families,”Tsubaki explained “Even though we treat him as one.”
Aizawa glared back at the girl as she smirked at him.
“Thanks for the brief introduction Midoriya, but still, allow me to properly introduce myself again.”Tsubaki informed.
“?!”
Surprised gasps were made as their upperclassman leaped onto the teacher’s desk with ease.
“Good day, ladies and gents of Class 1-A,”
“Class 3-A from the Hero Course, Amaka Tsubaki,”
“It’s nice to make your acquaintance~”
“Please do call me Tsubaki since the name Amaka or my hero name will attract too much attention.”
“Even as your senpai, I won’t go easy on any of you.”
“So do try your best to struggle to the top, alright?”

“What? Are you guys still too shocked to see me?”
“Ah, no
”Miyu began “It’s just that
I thought that you would look exactly like Lavender-san excluding your hair style
But I was wrong.”
“Oh, how so?”
“First, Lavender-san is 168 centimeters, and judging by just looking
I would say that you’re 172 centimeters
 Next is your personality
 It’s really like a 180 degree difference
And the third-”Miyu paused as her face began to heat up.
“ Ah, never mind
”
“Hmm? It’s alright, go for it.” Tsubaki reassured.
“Ah, Umm, it’s really embarrassing to say this
But if you insist, then ah
”
“Y-Your
”Miyu tried to begin as her face was getting more red by the second.
“?”
“Y-Your chest is bigger than Lavender-san’s, like, a lot
”

Right now, steam was practically coming from Miyu’s face as she covered her face in shame.

“
h
”
“?”
“Hahahahaha
You’re really interesting, Kamikaze Miyuki!”
“As I expected, a person using such an interesting way to use your quirk had to be enjoyable!”
“
Enjoyable
?”Miyu repeated in confusion.
“Anyways, I’ll end my introduction here, so does anybody have any questions?”Tsubaki asked as she looked at the class.
Then there was one hand raised.
And it belonged to Bakugou Katsuki.
“Yes, Bakugou Katsuki?”
The male stared at her as he began “The younger sister of the goddess series is the stronger one, right?”
“Wha?! Are you serious, Kacchan?! Are you telling me that-”
“Shut up, Deku!!”
“Eeep!”
“Fight me.”he demanded.
“Are you sane, Bakugou?!”
“Yeah, I mean, if not counting elemental disadvantage, she’s more stronger than Endeavour!!”
“Ho, so you wish to challenge me?”Tsubaki asked, clearly amused as she leaped off the desk gracefully.
“Yeah, or you scared of hurting me or something?”Katsuki taunted.
“No, of course not! You’re all welcome to challenge me any time~”
“Hah?”
“Know your limits, so that you’ll understand how to go beyond them,” Tsubaki began “We heroes from time to time need to be miracle makers after all.”
“
”
“But, that is of course, after today’s class, then you can decide if you’re in the shape to challenge me or not.”
“Tch, of course I’ll do it.”
“Now,”Tsubaki began as she stepped aside from the center.
“Let us welcome the true star of today~”
“I HAVE
”a familiar voice began.
“COME NORMALLY THROUGH THE DOOR!!!!”
“Ah!!”
“All Might!!”
“He’s really a teacher here!”
“That’s his Silver Age costume!”Asui Tsuyu complimented.
“Oh, looking healthier than the last time I saw you, Young Tsubaki!”
“All Might-san, that was yesterday, but it is true that I slept an hour earlier than usual.”
“Which the exact time is
?”
“1 a.m.”
“Kuh! Sleep earlier! You’re still young after all!!”
‘They’re like old buddies
’Most of the class thought simultaneously.
“Anyways, the class that I’m in charge of is Hero Study Foundation! The class that will have training for those who will become a hero!!”
“It is also the class with the most credits!”
“So without further ado, today we’ll be doing this!!”All Might exclaimed as he pulled at a card which had the word BATTLE printed on it.
“Battle training!!”
‘Battle
’Izuku repeated in his mind as he became more nervous by the second.
‘
training!!’Katsuki thought as just the thought of it makes him even more excited.
“And also, we have these!!”All Might exclaimed as he pushed the button, causing the panels from the left side of the classroom to slip out.
“Your costumes that you had designed and accord to your quirk reports!”
“They’re here!!”
“By the way, Miyu,” Tsubaki called out, catching the girl’s attention. “You can take your costume with you whenever you need to intern, okay?”
Miyu went silent for a few moments before her expression radiated a happy vibe. Just the thought of able to wear her new costume and show it to her mentor was extremely appealing to her.
“Yes!!”
“Intern, what’s that?”
“Who knows
”
Izuku and Katsuki, being the few people in the room understanding what it means remained silent. With the display of how she used her quirk yesterday, they truly understood why Miyu had passed the Provisional License Exam.
The girl that they had known for their entire life has grown, after all.
“After you guys have changed, meet me at Ground Beta!”
XXX
“Costumes are really important, youngsters! After all you all have to have the resolve
”All Might began us everyone walks through the gate.
“That from today, you are all heroes!”
Everyone was in their costumes, which are different in colour, shape and design.
“Not bad, everyone, you all look really cool!”
As Izuku had also arrived with the jumpsuit that his mother bought him, All Might realised that they were one person short.
“Hmm
Where is Young Miyuki?”
“Sorry for keeping you all waiting~”
Running footsteps coming from the gate were heard, making everyone turn around to see who it is.
Of course, it was none other than Kamikaze Miyuki in her new costume.
Her costume was like a normal sailor uniform, except for the fact that the dark purple top was hoodie-like, with its strings shaped as USB cables at the end. A white folded skirt, white stockings which had thigh bags and a pair of black and purple trainers.
Overall, comparing to her classmates, her outfit was on par with Jirou Kyouka and Kaminari Denki’s: it looks like normal clothing.
“Miyu-chan
Your costume is more normal than I thought it would be
”Izuku trailed as he looked at her costume entirely.
“W-What’s important is the functionality, functionality, I say!!”Miyu protested in embarrassment.
True that it was more fashionable than her former costume, but it wasn’t something that looked outstanding either. But to Miyu, the functions of her clothing are the most important.
“Stockings?! Then that must mean
”Mineta, the class’s local pervert muttered as he tried to squat down to see under Miyu’s skirt.
But before he could even do that, a gloved hand grabbed him on the head and stopped him from moving.
Slightly irritated for being stopped from his goal, Mineta turned to see who it was.
And to his demise, it was none other than Bakugou Katsuki who clearly had the face of ‘instant murder’, Mineta was pretty sure that he was doomed.
The very aura that Katsuki was admitting made his surrounding classmates shiver in fear.
“What the hell were you thinking about doing just now
?”
“Umm
Ah
It was nothing
So uh
”
Suddenly, the male’s murder aura was gone, leaving Mineta at a confused state.
But sadly, it was just for a second.
“DIE!!!”
With that, Mineta Minoru was sent flying across Ground Beta as his screams were slowly unheard.
“
”
Witnessing the rage of the explosive male, everyone in Class 1-A mentally agreed not to bring up what just happened.
“What’s with the ruckus? Why aren’t you all starting already?” Tsubaki asked as she walked towards the class.
Izuku and everyone else turned to see her, and to their delight, their senpai was in her iconic costume as well.
Tsubaki, known by her hero name Snowdrop’s costume was very easy to recognise, due to the fact she was one of the very few heroes who had a light gothic style costume. It was a dark blue dress, with a chiffon tie which had a a silver lined brooch with a blue gemstone on it, a black belt wrapped around her just below her chest, even though her dress may seem long, it’s actually only reached her thighs barely, the dress was actually more like a vest, as she wears a long-sleeved black dress-shirt. She had black leggings and a pair of short black high-heel boots.
Her costume was specially designed by the gothic lolita brand that she solely models for, MIRROR, compared to normal gothic lolita clothing, it is rather dull, but it was meant to be lightweight and simple, in order to suit Tsubaki’s fighting style.
Izuku then suddenly realised that something was missing.
“Senpai, where’s your cape?”
“Ah, that, I left it behind since I’m just going to be a spectator.”Tsubaki replied as she told her juniors what happened to her black cape.
“Alright then, shall we begin, youngsters?!”
XXX
“So it’s time for battle training!”All Might began.
“I’m sorry, Sensei,”Iida Tenya interrupted as he raised his hand.
“This is the Entrance Exam Arena, does that mean that we’re going to have another city battle practice?”
“Nope, our curriculum takes two steps ahead from that.”the number 1 hero replied as he raised two of his fingers.
“Battles with villains are usually witnessed outdoors, but according to certain studies, the rate of villains appearing in indoors is much more higher.”
“Imprisonment, house arrest, underground trading. This society filled with heroes
”
“True villains hide themselves in the dark.”
“After this, you will all split up into hero and villain teams, and will commence 2 vs 2 indoor battle simulations!”
“Without basic training?”Tsuyu asked.
“This is in order to understand the basics by performing it!”
“But this time, you are not facing robots that you can just destroy-”
“How will we decide the winner?”Momo asked.
“Can we hit people?”Katsuki asked, earning a questioning look from Denki.
“Will the last place will be expelled like Aizawa-sensei?”Ochaco added.
“And how should we decide the pairs?”Tenya asked.
“Isn’t this cape great?”Yuuga questioned as he showed off his cape.
“Shoutoku Taiji....”All Might muttered as he slightly trembled.
*It is said that Prince Shoutoku could listen to 36 people talking at once, this is usually used when there are a bunch of people talking to the same person at once.
“All Might-san, I’ll help you explain.”Tsubaki offered.
“The setting is that the villains had hidden a nuclear weapon somewhere in the building, and that the heroes need to deal with the problem.”
“The heroes have to either catch the villains or recover the nuclear weapon in limited time, while the villains have to protect the weapon until time is up or restrain the heroes.”
“The setting is really American style!”Izuku exclaimed.
“And, we’re going to decide the pairs and face-offs by drawing lots!” All Might declared as he showed the class the box which had the lots inside.
“Isn’t that a bit too random?”Tenya asked.
“Pros always have to teamup with heroes from other agencies on a whim, so it’s not rare at all!”Izuku explained.
“I see, so you have a reason for this... I apologise for being rude!”Tenya apologised.
“Don’t worry about it!”
“Now, let’s start by picking the pairs.”Tsubaki announced as she began drawing the lots.
Team A Midoriya Izuku Uraraka Ochaco
Team B Shoji Mezo Todoroki Shoto
Team C Yaoyorozu Momo Mineta Minoru
Team D Bakugou Katsuki Iida Tenya
Team E Ashido Mina Aoyama Yuuga
Team F Ojiro Mashiro Satou Rikido
Team G Kaminari Denki Jirou Kyouka
Team H Asui Tsuyu Tokoyami Fumikage
Team I Kamikaze Miyuki Hagakure Toru
Team J Sero Hanta Kirishima Eijiro
“Yeah, we seem to be always paired, let’s do our best!”Ochaco exclaimed, making the boy extremely flustered.
“Yeah!! Miyu-chan, let’s do our best!!”Toru exclaimed as she held the girl’s hand with her gloves, shaking it simultaneously.
With the passionate greeting, Miyu let out a heartwarming smile.
“Yeah, Toru-chan!”
“Alright, so the first matchup is...”All Might began as he pulled out a ball from each pf the two boxes. “These two groups!!”
“A Team are heroes, while D Team are villains! Everybody else head to the monitor room!”
XXX
“Basically what I’m here for is to give more grounded advice to you guys since I’m more close to your age. As well as providing mental support.”Tsubaki explained
“Mental support?”
“You guys are still kids after all, adolescence hits hard, you know?”
“Wait, aren’t you at most 2 years older than us?”
“The world doesn’t bother to wait me to become an adult, you know? Their need for me is stronger than the fact that I should have the chance to have a childhood
Sadly though, things are just like that.”
‘Because of those two incidents
’ Miyu thought sadly as she understood what their senior tried to tell them behind her words.
“Anyways, I think that this matchup is rather interesting, what do you think, Miyu, you know Midoriya and Bakugou since you were kids, right?”
“Ah, yes!!”Miyu replied, surprised that she got called out.
“Well, I believe that you’re talking about the chemistry between the two of them, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Izu-nii’s quirk is too destructive, and too dangerous to use, due to the fact in order to not hurt himself, he never really did used his quirk, nor did he told much people about it, so he was thought as quirkless
 And well
”
“Katsuki is thought as a prodigy, having a great quirk and such, so everybody told him that he was strong
Katsuki has changed after he had his quirk
 And well
Since Izu-nii is using his quirk because he really wanted to become a hero
Katsuki is mad at him for hurting himself for his ideals
”
“Their relationship went for the worse.”Miyu concluded.
‘Thank you Young Miyuki, you have my thanks!’ All Might thought as he remembered messaging Miyu to come up with a convincible story to cover up Izuku’s sudden quirk.
‘With the proclaim of their childhood friend, things would stay safe, huh
’Tsubaki thought as she sighed.
“I see, so it makes sense now.”Tsubaki concluded.
“Bakugou is not the type of person who will admit his true feelings because he was seen as a strong figure, he didn’t want to break that, so he decided to use a tougher way to tell Midoriya to give up
”
“So this fight is because of one side’s feelings?”Eijiro asked curiously.
“No, it’s both-sided.”Tsubaki countered immediately as she stared at the screen. “Midoriya is frustrated that he was born with such a quirk, and envies Bakugou to able to control his quirk, yet he tried to stop him from persuading his dream even when he had made his resolve
Is there something more frustrating than that?”
“
”
‘All Might-san, you owe me one even if this is for the sake of you and your protĂ©gé ’
‘Thank you to you as well, Young Tsubaki, even though the reasons weren’t the truth, it is true that the both are frustrated with each other
’
“To think that Bakugou is such a good person
”
“Yeah, I thought that he was literally a maniac or something
”
“What are you guys talking about?!”Miyu exclaimed “Katsuki is always a good person!!”
“Is he
?”
“Who knows
”
‘It’s true that Bakugou Katsuki has no idea on how to act on his feelings
But to be telling the truth, I’m more worried about something else
’Tsubaki thought as she inhaled.
“Watch closely to this fight, some things might prove to be useful.”
XXX
With a bunch of explosions, a massive punch that made a gigantic hole in the building, a rubble meteor strike, a swollen and a burnt hand and some puking, the Hero Team, aka Midoriya Izuku and Uraraka Ochaco’s win.
“To the infirmary~”One of the robots carrying Izuku announced.
“I know~”the other robot replied as the robots moved Izuku out of the building.
There stood Bakugou Katsuki, still petrified at the fact that he had lost, not to mention Deku out of all people.
Katsuki was trembling, as if about to go insane at any given moment.
Yet his trembling stopped, when a hand was placed on his shoulder.
“Bakugou, calm down, your breathing was speeding up back there.”
It was Tsubaki, who looked at him with a frown.
“I know that it’s frustrating, but calm down
”
“This is the first time that you have lost at something, right?”
“
”
Stunned, the boy had no idea how his senior knew about that, no, by logic, nobody could possibly know.
“You were trembling as if your entire world has collapsed, it was easy to tell. With a quirk like yours, the people around you of course will admire you, you were called strong, you never lost, but you just couldn’t take it that Midoriya had just beat you, someone you saw as a weakling.”
“Shut up!! And why the hell do you know about-”
“The Amaka Family is an information gathering organisation, just by one’s actions, I can practically tell what they’re thinking about, I have seen a lot after all.”
“
”
“I admit it, Bakugou, you are strong,”
“But just being strong doesn’t make one a hero.”
“
!”
“A hero doesn’t just defeat villains,”
“But to save people not just physically, but mentally as well.”
“Remember that well, okay?”
XXX
“Alright, with the best performance by Young Iida, can anybody tell the reason why?”All Might asked as they all returned to the monitor room for evaluation.
Two hands were raised, Momo and Miyu respectively.
“Hmm, Yaoyorozu, go ahead.”
“Yes, Tsubaki-senpai.”
“That is because Iida-san was the one who had performed according to the setting.”
“Bakugou-san’s actions
His reason of fighting is because of personal matters. Also, as Sensei had said before, using large-range attacks in indoors is foolish.”
“The same goes for Midoriya-san, looking from his wounds, I would say that his plan was of no use.”
“Uraraka-san had lose focus in the middle, also, the last attack was too reckless, if the item was really a nuclear weapon, then there is no way that one can take such dangerous actions.”
“Due to the fact of taking consideration of the nuclear weapon, that is the reason why Iida-san was a step too late.”
“The Hero Team’s victory can be said as something that is naively born from a training, a victory that is not realistic.”

‘She has said it better than I thought she would
’All Might thought in his mind.
“We’ve got to start at the bottom and work up! If we don’t earnestly cheer each other on
We’ll never be too heroes!”Momo concludes as she huffed.
“Well said, Yaoyorozu.”Tsubaki praised as she turned to All Might.
“Mind if I say a few things?”
“Go ahead.”
“True that what the Hero Team has done was not ideal for the Hero society, but they did play by the rules, and came up with that plan in a short time, so changing their way of thinking is actually enough.”
“Uraraka, don’t get too upset over messing up, we all make mistakes after all, what’s important is that what you do next.”
“Y-Yes!”
“Iida, try to focus on your objective and priorities even more, so that you won’t hesitate as much.”
“Roger that, Senpai!”
“As for my comments for Midoriya, I’ll tell him myself later
 And finally Bakugou,”
“Ah?”
“I have a question for you,”
“What kind of hero do you want to become?”
“The strongest, even more stronger than All Might, of course.”Katsuki replied without hesitation.
“Then
”
“Why do you want to become the strongest?”
”What the hell are you saying?! That’s because-”Katsuki cut himself off as he suddenly realised something important.
He didn't have a reason.
“That’s right, you can’t answer, because there wasn’t a reason in the first place.” Tsubaki pointed out.
“...”
Katsuki could feel that his breathing was accelerating.
“And that’s why you lost.”
Badump Badump Badump
“The path of a hero is hard, cruel and inhuman.”
“Using myself as an example, as a human from the Amaka Family, the weight of the praises that people give to me is the weight of the responsibility I have to hold.”
“The hero rankings, the society expects more of you the higher you rank. And you need to have the resolve to meet those expectations.”
“All Might-san acts as the counterforce against crime rates, because people would think twice when they’re reminded of him. But there are also downsides as being the number one. Strength is good, there is nothing wrong with wanting it. But when you’re the strongest, then you don’t win just because you want to, but rather you have to win, because nobody else can.”
“Do you have the resolve to shoulder all that?”
Badump Badump Badump Badump Badump
“Heroes don’t have much time to spend with their friends, family and loved ones, they bear the risk of losing their lives every day!”
“Then tell me! Why do people still insist on walking such an inhuman path even when they’re still humans!!??”
“...”
“Origin, or rather, the reason or thing that is pushing one to complete their goal.”
“And of course, one needs a clear goal to be sure of their path.”
“Lose either your reason or goal, then nothing will work out.”
“Bakugou Katsuki, you have a good quirk, you have good battle antics,”
“But because you lack a reason...”
“You have lost to those who have a reason in this room from the starting line!!!”
“Y-Young Tsubaki... Isn’t that a bit too extreme-”All Might tried to reason.
“Haven’t you also said it yourself earlier, All Might-san?!”
“ ‘From today, you are all heroes’ !!”
“!!”
“Listen up, ladies and gents, think closely, the reason that you all are becoming a reason, the thing that you wish for, is fighting with your life on the line worth for that?”

“If it isn’t, then please drop out of U.A., no, give up on becoming on a hero and live a normal life where you can be happy.”
“But you have your resolve, then go for it!! Push through your limits!!”
“ ‘Plus Ultra’, that’s why it’s our school’s motto.”

“...”
Bakugou Katsuki couldn’t say anything.
“Bakugou, one should not let their emotions get hold of themselves from battle, it may stray you from what you’re suppose to do.”
“But, figuratively speaking,”Tsubaki began as she flicked her finger against Katsuki’s forehead.
“You can become even more stronger than you ever thought of, as long as you can find your reason.”
“I hope that you can find it by yourself in this year.”
“...”
“Alright then, next team you’re up.”
XXX
-Hero Team: Todorki Shoto & Shoji Mezo VS Villain Team: Kamikaze Miyuki & Hagakure Toru-
“Even if I’m being teamed up with a girl...Being on the villain team is surely a bit discouraging...”Toru trailed as she and Miyu went into the new building to prepare.
“Hey, Miyu-chan, why aren’t we going to the room where the weapon is immediately?”
“I want to look closely at what type of building this is after all...”
“?”
“... This seems like to be the old types in Tokyo during the 90s...”
“Eh, Miyu-chan, you can tell?!”
“Yeah, making full use of your territory is what villains would utilise.”
“Traps, security cameras... They can range to different things.”
“What’s good is that we know who our opponents are.”
“Todoroki-kun’s quirk is half-cold half-hot, while Shoji-kun's quirk is dupli-arms... Offense and information-gathering... Just looking at our quirks, we’re already at a big disadvantage.”
“Does that mean that you think that we’re going to lose?!”Toru exclaimed.
“No, we have the advantage of strategy.”
“Huh?”
“We get to know this place longer than them, and they have to react immediately without much information given to them.”
“Sure, we can’t use the element of surprise since Shoji-kun is on their team, but there are still ways that we can win.”
“Foresight.”
“You mean by looking into the future? But we can’t-”
“Todoroki-kun has his left side frozen up, by normal standards, we can tell that he isn’t planning on using his fire quirk...And judging by his personality, he would most likely finish this training in the most efficient way...”Miyu concluded as she opened the door to the room that contained the fake weapon.
“Toru-chan, I want you to believe in my plan, no, in me...”
“Mind if you put the fate of our victory in my hands?”Miyu asked with nothing but confidence in her eyes.
“...”
“Yeah!” Toru answered as she clenched her gloves.
“Thank you... Well then...”Miyu trailed as she began to pull down the zipper on the back of her top.
“W-Wait!! Miyu-chan, what are you doing??!!”
XXX
“Sero, borrow some of your tape for me.” Tsubaki requested her underclassmen.
“Uh, sure.”
As the boy placed the tape on his senpai’s hand, Tsubaki slapped it onto Mineta’s eyes.
“M-My eyes!!!!!!”
‘Without any mercy...’ Everybody else in the room thought as they saw their senpai’s bold and straightforward actions.
“B-But uh...Why is Miyu-chan taking off her clothes...?” Denki asked as he was literally freaking out.
Katsuki stared at the monitor for a few moments, before gasping in realisation at what Miyu was planning.
‘Could she be...’
XXX
“Group 2, battle training, start!!”
Mezo used his dupli-arms to check the building and the two oppoenets inside, after a few seconds, one of his arms turned into a mouth.
“Hmm...It seems that the both of them are in the same room in the fourth floor... Could it be possible that they have given up on surprise attacks and decided to fight us when we reach the room with the weapon?”
“For your own safety, go outside.”Shoto demanded.
“I’m sure that our opponents tend to fight a defensive battle...”
Shoto continued as he activated his quirk.
“But it doesn’t matter to me.”
With that, Todoroki Shoto froze the entire building and Shoji Mezo could only watch at awe as it happened.
XXX
“I-It’s so cold...”
Everyone in the monitor room was shivering due to the cold.
Well, that is except for Amaka Tsubaki and Bakugou Katsuki.
“Ara, Shoto got stronger than the last time I saw him... I guess he took my advice since we’re both ice-based...”Tsubaki trailed as Katsuki trembled in fear.
“But he seemed like he didn’t take my other advice...”
XXX
Shoto slowly walked towards the room in the fourth floor, expecting to see the two girls frozen in place due to his ice.
But they weren’t.
There stood the fake nuclear weapon alone.
Knowing that there was no way that they weren’t here unless his ice attack had failed, Shoto was on guard immediately.
But it was too late.
Without any warning, Shoto could suddenly feel some sort of string tightening on his body, immobilising him as well as lifting him up away from the ground.
“Hissatsu! Kumo no Su!!!”
*Special Move: Spider’s Web
‘A wire?! Where did this came from?!’
“Hey Todoroki-kun, did you know, Toru-chan can control light refractions... She was capable of making the wires reflect the light from the windows so that you couldn’t see them.”Miyu revealed as she hold tight onto the kunais connected to the two ends of her wire.
“H-How did you two escape my ice...? Why can the two of you opperate as if the cold temperature isn't bothering you...?”Shoto questioned as he struggled to turn his head to look at Miyu, before realising the answer as he did.
“Even though that Shoji-kun was capable of gathering information such as our positions...He won't be able to know about the detailed information of something that was here...”Miyu began.
“You know? I get cold easily, which is the reason why when I desgined my costume, I specifically asked it to be made in cold-resistant material!! Not to mention that the sweater, shorts and stockings are also made of it!!”
“To think that you were wearing shorts under a skirt!!”Toru exclaimed, making Shoto realise that Miyu had given the invisible girl her top and skirt.
“I had to add it, otherwise Awata-san would flip out...”Miyu mumbled to herself as she remebered back when she was desiging her costume, Bubble Girl told her that there will be perverts who would look at her panties if she didn’t wear shorts while not wearing leggings.
“...This wire is made out of metal, right? Then all I have to do is to use my heat to-”Shoto began was cut off.
“That will be impossible, after all, this wire...”
“Is made of hafnium carbide!!”
XXX “I see...So that’s what she had done with her scholarship, huh...”Tsubaki trailed.
“What do you mean, senpai?”
“Hafnium carbide is capable of withstanding the temperature of 4000 degree celsius... It is used for hypersonic space vehicles...”Tsubaki began explaining.
“It is quite costy though, but a good counter for those who think can melt that wire of hers easily...”
“If just comparing their quirks, as Miyu said, Shoto’s team would win.”
“But what Miyu had pulled out to use, was her techniques-her second blade.”
XXX
“Tch...You surely had thought through this quite well...”
“It is elementary for those who have the territory advantage...”
“To ustilise the information you have on your opponents and the ones that your opponents don’t know...”
“It’s simple foresight that anybody can use.”
“If I can’t melt this, then using my ice would be a piece of cake to...”
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you...”Miyu cut in as she aimed her right hand towards Shoto with a coin on her hand as she stood almost next to Shoto.
“You know, my railgun... I don’t have to flick it up into the air to use it.”
“In such a close distance, just flicking it towards you is enough...”
“Please don’t forget that my railgun is a military weapon that causes damage with just pure speed...”Miyu reminded.
“Your ice and my railgun...Which one do you think is faster...?”
...
...
...
Shoto sighed.
“I admit my defeat...”
XXX
After tying Shoto up in the restraint tape, Miyu let out a sigh of relief.
“Toru-chan, then proceed according to plan.”
“Got it! Leave it to me~”
With that, the invisible girl left the room, leaving the two alone in the room.
“Tsubaki-senpai...”Miyu began as she asked her senpai through the  intercom earpiece.
“Do you mind turning off the recieving of my and Todoroki-kun's earpiece? There is something that I would like to talk to him in private.”
“Ah, no problem, just give me the sign when you finish.”
“Thank you very much.”
XXX
...
“So what is so important that you want to talk about?”
“Todoroki-kun...Are you loathing someone...?”
“!!”
“I can somhow sense it from looking at your eyes... The same type of sadness and loneliness I felt...”
“Same type...?”
“You know? My parents hate my quirk... So from time to time, I start to think that if I'm just being a nuisance..."
“I had once thought of...suicide...you know...? But then...I met my mentor... He gave me a reason to live on...”
“A way for me to use my quirk... To save those who cannot save themselves...”
“Todoroki-kun, are you trying to prove something with your ice?”
“!!”
“You said heat and not fire earlier, which reinforces how I thought that you won’t use it because you had covered your left side with your ice...”
“Does Endevour-san have something to do with your scar?”
“...”
“I’m sorry... I shouldn’t be this direct when I haven’t got to know you yet...”
“But I’ll say it anyways... Todoroki-kun, you rely too much on your quirk, to be more specific, on your ice...”
“Once your ice failed, you seem to have lost most of your fighting will... People like me who realise that their quirk isn’t too useful in most situations... We have to prepare a second blade, so that it won’t be a dead end for us even when our quirks can’t do anything...”
“But all you have to do is to use your fire, then you can counter most of your weak spots...”
“But if you hate your fire... Please think it as this way...”
“This life is yours, you can’t just let your parents decide on what you will become, you can live it however you want!”
“Miyu-chan, I’m about to do it, are you ready?”Toru asked through the earpiece.
“Yeah, give me 30 more seconds.”
“Todoroki-kun, I know that it is impossible for you to overcome this immediately, and I can’t fully understand the anger that you are feeling... But if you can feel like it, you can come to me and talk about it, okay?”
...
“Why...Are you being this nice to someone you just met...?”
“You don’t actually need a reason to help or save somebody, right? If it’s within what I can do, I will gladly do it, Todoroki-kun!”
“...”
“Shoto.”
“Huh?”
“Call me Shoto, Miyuki.”
“...Alright, then please call me Miyu in return, Shoto.”
XXX
“SHOJI-KUNNN!!!!” Toru shouted as she was standing next to the third floor’s window.
“WE HAVE CAUGHT TODOROKI-KUN!!!IF YOU WANT TO WIN THIS PRACTICE, THEN COME RECOVER THE WEAPON YOURSELF!!!”
With that, Toru immediately left.
‘Todoroki went down? Or this is just a bluff to seperate us...? It’s best to check...’Mezo thought as he used his dupli-arms.
‘!? I can’t...? Todoroki’s ice has lowered my perceptiveness...’
‘I’m running out of time, I need to at least give it a shot!’
XXX
Once Mezo walked towards the center room of the fourth floor, he suddenly heard rush footsteps coming from his right side.
Knowing that he had to fight, Mezo leaped towards the target as well.
It was Miyu who had her wire in her hands, holding it with her kunais, but before Mezo could hit her with one of his arms, Miyu accelerated her speed, avoiding his consecutive attacks by speeding forward and backward of him.
Miyu then saw an opening, then kicked him with all her strength, catching him off-guard.
Before Mezo could barely grasp what was happening, Miyu rushed towards him once again, landing three solid high-speed mid-air kicks before sending him flying across the corridor.
Just when he was about to hit the ground, Miyu somehow manage to appeared behind him and kicking back to where he once was.
Confused and overwhelmed, Mezo could only try to recompose himself.
Highlight on the word try.
Just before he was about to catch his breathe, Miyu lunged forward.
“Sorry about this!!”She apologised, before thrusting one of her kunai into one of Mezo’s duplicated arms.
“Kuh!!”Grunting in pain as his arm began to bleed, breaking his composure once again.
Miyu immediately leaped into the air and threw her wire over one of the pipes on the ceiling before catching it.
She pulled her wire with both of her hands, lifting Mezo up into the air.
As Mezo hit the ceiling, Miyu continued to fling her wire around, f;inging Mezo into different surfaces of the corridor.
XXX
“Isn’t that too reckless?!”
“Comparing to what Midoriya did eariler, no, Miyu took advantage of the building’s architecture, while not destroying the building in a scale that would possibly harm the nuclear weapon, so it’s fine.”Tsubaki replied.
“But that mid-air three consecutive kick back there...That was impressive...”
“Miyu’s wrist power isn’t strong, so she’s putting her speed as an advantage and the different surfaces to do recoil damage... This would possibly be their only way to defeat a giant that is capable of gripping 540 kg...”
XXX
As Miyu could feel that her hands were getting extremely tired after approximately ten seconds, she called out.
“Now, Toru-chan!!”
On command, the invisible girl appeared as she wrapped the restraint tape around Mezo.
“Got you!!”
“Hnngh...”
“Even if you know, if your body can’t react fast enough, then it will be pointless!”
“The Villain Team has reached their requirements!!Thus, it is the Villain Team’s winnnnnnn!!!!!” All Might announced.
“We did it, Toru-chan!!”Miyu exclaimed as she high-fived the invisible girl.
“It’s all thanks to your plan, Miyu-chan!!”
“No, it’s becuase you trusted me, Toru-chan!”
“I’ll give your clothes back later!”
XXX
After crying for a bit due to exclaiming at Deku about his frustrations, and All Might’s somehow unnecessary care, Katsuki made his way out of the school gate.
“Ara, so you’re leaving already... Does that mean that you’re not going to challenge me?”
Katsuki sighed in annoyance as he looked at his left.
“What do you want, senpai?”
Smirking, Tsubaki straighten herself from lying against the gate.
“Nothing, I was just wondering about something...”
“Do you like Kamikaze Miyuki?”
“W-What the hell has to do with you?!”
“So you’re not denying it, huh...?”
“Tch...”
“Allow me to say this once... If you’re really aiming to become the strongest, then I don’t belive that you have the time for love...”
“Love isn’t something you should treat lightly, you know?”
“And what the hell do you know about it, senpai?!”
“Ara, of course I would, I do have a boyfriend after all...”
“So? Which one is it that you value more? Which one would you choose if there can only be one?”
“Don’t say crap like that...”
“I’m going to become the strongest and be with Miyu... That’s the only answer for me...”
With his declare, Katsuki started walked off.
“I see, an irresponsible yet satisfying answer indeed...”
‘Even though Sir told me to look after Miyu, it doesn’t mean that I have the right to directly affect her life... All I will do is give you guys the push you need...’
‘So please do your best while struggling, okay?’
XXX
“Katsuki!!!!” Miyu called out as she ran towards the male.
“Are you heading towards the station? Let’s go together!”
Looking that she had brought her costume’s suitcase with her, Katsuki asked her.
“You’re still  going for your intern? It’s already late and you can barely use your hands now...”
“Don’t worry about it, I just want to show Shishou my new costume~”
“...”
“By the way... Your costume was really cool and functional!! To think that your costume allows you to stregthen your quirk... Too bad I can’t stregthen my quirk... Or should I request another support item that can allow me to use my quirk longer...?”
Fuming at the fact that Miyu called him cool, Katsuki avoided looking at the girl.
“Hey Katsuki, are you still worried about what senpai said...?”
Ah, that worried face of hers...
“As if, I’m going to find my reason soon enough!”
“Yeah, I believe so!”
“Let us work even more harder so that the three of us can become the strongest heroes, Katsuki!!”
“Why do you have to ruin the moment by mentioning Deku??!!”
“Eh? What’s wrong about it?”
“...”
“No... It’s nothing...”
They do say... Love turns the smartest geniuses into idiots after all...

#TheChurchGirl #OneChanceReplay AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS AND PATRONS ONLY The Church Girl - #TheGuardian 4 Ifeanyi handed in his letter of resignation when he resumed work on Monday.  Unfortunately, due to his high level position, he wouldn’t be able to leave the job for three months or until a replacement could be found and trained, which ever was sooner.  He wasn’t too pleased about that, but he trusted God to work everything out for his favour. He was happier than he had ever been with Mary.  Life was good.  Somehow they had gotten closer since they reconciled after his infidelity, and he was glad that he had listened to God and confessed.  The lie had been eating him up inside. Even though things seemed better now, he had no plans of slipping again, not that he would want to
But he wouldn’t even put himself close to that situation again and risk losing the good thing he had with Mary.  His fall had been shocking to him too, because he had thought he was stronger than that.  He still found Amaka attractive, and he knew he was still vulnerable, so he had to be brutal and cut all ties. He had spoken to his dad about his decision to quit

Things To Do Today In London: Thursday 2 March 2017
Things to do today is sponsored by The Place. Robot Zoo at Horniman Museum What we're reading The boroughs where London house prices are falling. NFL player turned away from a London nightclub because he was 'too urban'. A Dalston cinema had a bit of fun pulling an Oscars spoof at a screening of Moonlight. South West Trains had delays because of an escaped llama. Things to do today LITTLE ITALY TOUR: Spend your lunchtime wandering around London's Little Italy in Clerkenwell with an Italian tour guide. Visit the Italian Church, and tuck into a three course meal. St Peter's Italian Church, £25, book ahead, noon-2pm SKATE & YOGA: House of Vans is hosting a Girls Skate Night, so if you're a female shredder, here's a chance to show off your skills. They're also throwing in free cocktails all night long and an hour long yoga session into the mix. House of Vans, free, just turn up, 6pm-10pm KEATS NIGHT: The National Theatre presents a night dedicated to one of the great Romantic poets, John Keats. Poetry and prose performer Ruth Rosen reads some of the great odes and poems written by Keats. National Theatre, £5/£4, book ahead, 6.30pm-7.30pm WHALES: Ever wondered what's it like to be a whale? This talk goes inside the world's largest mammal's mind to try and explain how they think. It's probably more accurate than lying submerged in your bath after a particularly large dinner. London School of Economics, free, just turn up, 6.30pm-8.30pm ROBOT ZOO LATE: The Horniman Museum is opening up its Robot Zoo exhibition — which we loved —  for an adults only evening. There will be talks discussing the relationships between humans, animals and robots. For the party animals among you, there will be tunes and cocktails too. Horniman Museum, £5, book ahead, 6.30pm-9.30pm Pulp Fiction at Harlesden Picture Club GUERILLA GIRLS: To celebrate International Women's Day, watch a screening of documentary Guerillas in our Midst, about the commercial art world in its 1980s boom, with an introduction from Club de Femmes. This is the chance to hear their plans for the future of London. Rich Mix, £6/£8, book ahead, 8pm Sponsor message This new dance show wants to challenge your perceptions The relationship between adult males and young girls is the subject of a new production at The Place. Men & Girls Dance explores the link between the two groups, which has had its share of bad press, through the medium of dance. Fevered Sleep wants to challenge negative perceptions. Listed in Lyn Gardner’s top 10 Theatre of 2016, this show is as playful and uplifting as it is provocative. Men & Girls Dance runs from 13 to 22 April – book your tickets now. Theatre review: Danish modern If you can get a ticket, we think you'd love the Almeida Hamlet, even if you're not specifically lusting after Andrew Scott (Moriarty from Sherlock) pitching to rival Cumberbatch's star turn in the same role. It's Shakespeare for the 'Borgen' generation; a slick and surveillance-heavy visual on a cool penthouse set where Juliet Stevenson's splendid dirty dancing Gertrude can shag Claudius on a couch while the Norwegian ambassador paces the corridor. Enjoy cute turns of Amaka Okafor and Calum Finlay as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern or Jessica Brown Findlay's bathtub-dunking Ophelia, but even though you could ice a cake during some of his pauses, it's Scott's softly spoken, vulnerable and charming Dubliner Dane that holds your gaze and speaks the famous lines completely afresh, and as if to only you. Hamlet, Almeida Theatre, Almeida Street, N1 1TA £10-38 28 February-15 April ★★★★★ Johnny Fox Comedy review: 200mph jokes Rhys James performs a comedy set like he's got somewhere else to be. He sprints through jokes, barely coming up for air, and leaving us wondering whether he's getting paid by the word. While he got some fantastic laughs, there were also some periods when the crowd went quiet; especially during his section on millennials. James's self-deprecating style and the way he ties the entire show together neatly at the end is impressive, and he's clearly talented. There's a great show in here somewhere, it just needs an editor to come and find it. Dremo takes the first step to unlocking his potentials on ''Codename Vol 1 EP''.
Dremo makes his neophyte presence on the scene with his debut body of work, ''Codename Vol 1''.
After three years following his arrival on the scene and developing his talents as a member of Davido's DMW label, 2018 has been described as the year when Davido finally allows his boys explore and leading the pack is Dremo.
Dremo has been quite impressive with his singles and features on some of the group songs as he offers an energetic and hungry vigour every time he jumps on a verse.
Scoring occasional hit songs is great, delivering a well padded sixteen stuck in between the heavy presence of Davido's voice is safe, but can he do it all on his own project, where he is open to criticisms and intense scrutiny based on the talent his early years projected?
Those are the questions that Dremo seeks to answer on this 9 track body of work, ''Codename Vol I''.
The project is largely kept in-house with guests and producers coming from his DMW family.
Codename kicks off with 'Nobody', the 6 am music with the instrumentals suppressed to allow Dremo breathe.
The first few minutes sees him do justice to this as he takes us through the journey of his life, tapping into 2face's 'Nobody talks about you' line for inspiration, detailing how he got signed to DMW.
''OBO changed my life, me and the Mayor of Lagos got signed the same night'', he declares, while taking aimless shots as people he perceives are talking about him.
This is followed by 'Bigger Meat', a song that aims to sell and not to please.
'Faya' is the Dremo we have come to know as he gets the party started with this tune that has influences from both identified and yet to be discovered roots.
This joint is heavy and 'I go fire you' is his warriors chant which can be interpreted in several ways, while his ability to adapt his flow to the flipped beat adds a nice touch to this.
After three tracks all to himself, Dremo allows the guests into his house with his label boss, Davido taking the lead on the Speroach produced 'Kpa', now Dremo is singing and not sure if this is tied to the same producer or Davido's hook, but this sounds like a spin-off Davido's hit song, 'Assurance', as they demand you go down for the 'Kpa'.
Simply put, 'Kpa' is more basic than exciting, but on 'Dapada' with Mayorkun is where he finds a better chemistry, again taking inspiration from D'Prince's 'Take Banana', Mayorkun displays his brilliance when it comes to scoring a commercial sing along, while Dremo's flow here goes well with the mood.
Simi is the outsider who crashes the party on 'Hey Ma', Dremo is singing and rapping with Simi's vocals splashed across his verses, while her verse lacks the energy to brighten the song, this is another joint that somehow feels like it is elements short of something special.
'Breezy' is the perfect welcome back joint made for DMW's latest signee, Sinzu to do rap the way only he can and not even Dremo's failed trap impression at the start could dim his shine.
Alongside the impressively gifted Peruzzi, who has brought his talent to glare in a number of features including the newest hit single, 'Amaka' by 2face, the duo attempt to turn 'Unbelivas' to believers with this love joint produced by Fresh VDM.
'Fan of my Fans' is his sign out joke, but it fails to pack enough punch-line to leave the hall rolling after his exit, as the lines are quite corny on this.
It is safe to say that Dremo will not be opening a new chapter in the history of Nigerian rap like many predicted when he debuted with his earlier singles, 'Fela' and 'Ojere', but he manages to keep his presence large enough with his delivery and flow.
The ''Codename, Vol 1 EP" is a decent introduction to a hungry artist that has all the raw talent to succeed, the beats are good, but nothing special, the collaborations work and enhances his appeal.
It does not offer the best lyrics you'll ever hear or ground-breaking music that will make you pen him down on your list of next rated, but he understands his music and his target audience.
His raw flow is also quite visible and backed by a wheel oiled machinery in DMW, Dremo will be here for a while, but will his name be first on the list few years down the line? We wait to see.

EP Review: Dremo is raw, uncut and tentative on his debut EP, ''Codename Vol 1''

Randy male traders touch our bums, boobs pretending to seek customers — Female buyers
TOLUWANI ENIOLA writes about the practice of some randy male traders who touch vital parts of female customers at crowded markets
It was a busy Tuesday night at the popular Yaba market in Lagos which stretches to the Ojuelegba bus stop in Surulere.  It is regarded as one of the crowded markets in Lagos because of its heavy human traffic and miscellany of goods on display.  The market boasts of cheap, second-hand goods such as sandals, shoes, skirts, blouses and local fabrics, among others.
Boutiques, shopping plazas, restaurants, kiosks and even banks have sprouted up at every corner of the road. Some traders also freely display their wares by the roadsides which sometimes cause vehicular traffic as commuters struggle to wade through the market.
As usual, the market was reeling with noises and music as 27-year-old Mary James was returning home from work. The market is not new to James because she passes through it almost every night while commuting home from a bookshop where she works.
James detests the ubiquitous male traders, who hang around the market, pestering passers-by for patronage. The traders are known to be aggressive and saucy and sometimes harass people. Though they also harass men, women are mostly the victims. That night, James had a nasty experience. One of the traders forcefully grabbed her hand while persuading her to buy from his collections.
She tried to resist the man but he was too strong for her. While she was struggling to free herself from his grip, another male trader hugged her, whispering into her ears, “Sweet girl, come and buy from me.”
James said, “When I felt the hug, I was speechless. As he hugged me, his hands were on my buttock. I screamed and he let me go. As I made to go, he started uttering foul languages, and said in Pidgin, ‘Your breast dey small and your yansh small and you dey form fine girl’.”
That was not the first time James would experience that at the market. She added, “Sometimes when they grab my hands, and I try to hit them, they will then insult me more. I used to warn them not to try their rubbish with me but they won’t listen.”
Fondling of female shoppers at markets common
The story of James is a regular occurrence in many markets in the country. James experience fits perfectly into the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s definition of sexual harassment as “Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favours, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature, unwanted deliberate touching, leaning over, cornering, or pinching.”
The EEOC’s definition notes that such sexual harassment covers “unwanted sexual looks or gestures and unwanted sexual teasing, jokes, remarks or questions.” These cases are abundant in major markets in the country and there is a growing concern on how to check them.
In fact, in the last few months, reports from different parts of the country show that women are increasingly becoming victims of sexual harassment in markets when they go to purchase wares. Those who shared their ordeals with SUNDAY PUNCH complained that whenever they visited such crowded markets, they were always harassed and assaulted by male traders.
Another victim is a lady who identified herself simply as Bukola. She told SUNDAY PUNCH that she experienced sexual harassment in broad daylight at the Yaba market. She said, “Yaba market is a very notorious place. Before I experienced it, I had heard of how their male traders use the opportunity of selling their goods to touch women indiscriminately.
“That day, my friend and I went to Yaba market to buy some goods. While we were walking and checking out some of the clothes hung on the shelves, I just felt a hand round my waist while another male trader hugged my friend.
“It was embarrassing. I just screamed but this guy remained adamant by holding me, telling me that he sells beautiful skirts. By this time, we were already enraged. We started insulting him but they insulted us back. One of them told us that he was better than our boyfriends.
“Ever since that day, I stopped going to that market. I now buy all my clothes and shoes on the Island.”
Another victim, Christina, who spoke to our correspondent, described sexual harassment in the market as a big issue.
She said, “I went to Tejuoso market to buy some things. After negotiating the price of the goods, I realised that I didn’t have enough money.
“I told the trader but he said no problem. He said if I agreed to have sex with him inside his shop, he would give me the items I wanted to buy for free. I was shocked at his boldness that it took me a while to leave his shop.”
Mrs. Olubunmi Amoo, who experienced it in 1997, said it was an age-old practice common in most crowded markets across the country. “I went to a popular market in Lagos in 1997 and a male trader sexually harassed me. He touched my right breast under the pretence of trying to sort out the clothes I wanted to buy. I hate those male traders. I hate them,” Amoo stated.
In other markets, the tales are the same
SUNDAY PUNCH gathered that other markets in Lagos such as Balogun, Aswani, Mile 12, Alaba International Market, Computer Village, Lagos Island, among others, have notoriously become a den of perverts who molest women on a daily basis.
Mrs. Grace Odeyemi recounted an experience she witnessed at Aswani market in Lagos. Aswani, located beside the Isolo Local Government Area secretariat, is well known for the sales of fairly used clothes at cheap prices.
According to her, in 2011, a lady, who wore skimpy skirt became the subject of ridicule by male traders at the market who quickly gathered to taunt her for her dressing.
Odeyemi said, “A crowd of traders gathered around her. One lifted her skirt from the front while another lifted her skirt from the back, revealing her pants. I was shocked. That is the level we have degenerated to in Nigeria.”
The story is not different at the Computer Village, Ikeja, said to be the largest Information and Communication Technology market in the country. The Computer Village spreads from Ikeja Under-Bridge towards the Ikeja Local Government secretariat.
Beginning from Binite Street, the village spreads through Anibiyi community to Otigba, overrunning Adepitan Street. The village also spills into Anifowose community and Obafemi Awolowo Way.  Many landlords in the neighbourhood yielded to the commercial lure of the mega bucks that flow from the ICT sector by converting their residential houses to commercial buildings.
The market is home to mobile phones and computer dealers but also parades technicians who specialise in the repair of faulty mobiles and computers. There are also dealers in phone accessories such as batteries, phone chargers, memory cards, pirated software, movie DVDs, musicals, used mobile phones and other computer components.
Investigation by our correspondent showed that it is also becoming dangerous for ladies who visit the place to purchase IT accessories.
A civil servant, Mrs. Yemi Adebanji, shared the story of her sister who was sexually harassed at the market with SUNDAY PUNCH.
Adebanji stated, “This sexual harassment has to stop. My sister is a bit slim and busty. So, once they saw her in the market, they abused her verbally, saying things like ‘kileleyi, se e n to omo lowo ni?’ (What is this? Are you breastfeeding a baby?) They also said other unprintable things to her.”
Other women lamented that the crime was also flourishing in the popular Balogun Market on the Lagos Island. Balogun is a large market which sprawls across many streets on the Island. The market is one of the best places to get the best wholesale deal in different fabrics, shoes, office shorts, suits, ties etc.
Earlier in March, a 16-year-old university student, Bimbo Adenipekun, was harassed sexually at the market.
“I went to the market to get some things. There, I met a male trader. Actually, I had passed him, so he started pulling me back and touching me in sensitive areas as he winked at me.”
“He said I should look at my chest, that he would give me any amount to follow him home. He suddenly started touching me. I just had to leave the place because I was already scared,” recounted Adenipekun.
It’s a malady across the states
Sexual harassment of ladies is not peculiar to markets in Lagos. SUNDAY PUNCH gathered that it is also a common trend in other parts of the country such as Ibadan, Enugu, Onitsha, Port-Harcourt and even Calabar, where there are large market concentrations.
A 23-year old lady, who identified herself only as Nneka, recounted her experience at the popular ‘Meat Market’ in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
Nneka said, “I have experienced sexual abuse in the market many times. I don’t even keep count anymore. One incident has always stuck though. There was a day I was coming back from school, dressed in a high-neck top and a long skirt, and decided to buy some vegetables at the market.
“A dirty-looking man (he was perfectly sane), suddenly jumped in front of me and made kissy sounds right on top of my breasts. Oh my God! I had never felt more irritated in my life. I couldn’t scream as much as I would have wanted to. I just dodged him as best as I could and walked away as fast as my legs could carry me. When I reached home that day, I cried.”
In Rivers State, some young women, who spoke to SUNDAY PUNCH, lamented how some men harassed them inside the Rumuigbo market in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
Amaka, a marketer in a firm, explained how a man touched her breast inside the market.
She said, “Last two weeks in Rumuigbo market, a young man passed by my side and touched my breast. I asked him why he did that, I just saw him smiling and winking at me.
“The man was not selling anything; he was just inside the market to do that. It is worse at Oil Mill market in Eleme. There, they can even touch your bum-bum (buttocks) and breasts. It is annoying that someone you don’t know will just touch your sensitive parts.”
Also, a student, identified only as Regina, explained that because she had big buttocks, some men in the market usually screamed whenever they saw her.
She said, “I have experienced sexual harassment not only in the market but also on the street. Some men will see you, come close to you and shove you with their shoulders. Some of them will be looking at your backside and shouting, ‘ah.’ For instance, in Rumuola, someone just grabbed me and said, ‘Hey girl, come, I like you’. I had to scream at him to leave me alone.”
A professional usher, who gave her name as Uchechi, also narrated her experience at Mile One market. She stated that a trader once touched her body when she refused to respond to his sexual advances.
She said, “It was at Mile One market; one of the traders there called me fine girl and when I did not respond, he touched my body. I became annoyed and when he noticed that, he called me nonsense girl.”
To Juliet, who is into make-up, the practice is prevalent in markets. She said a male trader once touched her friend’s boobs at the same Mile One market.
Juliet stated, “The guy sells things and when he called my friend to come and buy from him and she did not answer, he came close to her and touched her breasts. That was my first time of going to Mile One market. His action was surprising as my friend dressed decently. It was annoying and embarrassing.”
Many women have also taken to the social media to express their frustration on the problem.  A Twitter user, identified as @Dinma, wrote, “I was walking at a market and one guy slapped my buttocks and said in pidgin, “See your yansh, dem dey f****you well well.”
Another Twitter user, @therealwunmi, wrote, “I went to a market and one of the sellers pressed my breast. I was angry and he said, ‘no be press I press’.”
A Twitter user, Ola Abimbola, wrote, “A guy on a bike smacked my buttock in the name of ‘kuro lona’ (leave the road).”
One, whose story could be said to be a reference point in what is now known as Nigeria’s scourge of sexual harassment in markets, is Bliss Otong.
Otong, who shared her experience on Facebook, said her young sister was sexually assaulted in her presence in a Calabar market when she went to buy her a dress for her end-of-the-term party.
She said, “She’s just 13 years old. I was bargaining with a trader when I heard my sister saying, ‘Don’t touch me, idiot.’ I turned around and the idiot (trader) was really touching her bum again.
“I removed my slippers and hit him on his head while he ran away. Other traders were lecturing me on how my sister was beautiful and that was why they have to touch her. Guess what? They even had ladies among them.”
Why the practice festers
Why does sexual harassment of women in markets assume a damning proportion? A human rights activist, Ebenezer Omejalile, blamed market unions and regulatory agencies for the menace.
The activist maintained that the unions made the crime attractive in the markets by not sanctioning such randy traders who harass women.
Omejalile stated, “First, some ladies dress indecently but that is never an excuse for anybody to molest them sexually.  This is why I blame the market leaders for allowing this to go unchecked.
“Also, some of the traders are into drugs which make them behave abnormally. But the buck stops at the table of the market leaders and unions.”
However, a lawyer, Dotun Hassan, identified the cause of the problem from another perspective.
According to Hassan, sexual harassment of ladies in market thrives because most victims don’t report to the police and follow up their cases to get justice.
Hassan said, “The acts of some pervasive ‘market boys’, who touch vital parts of women passing by their shops, is a crime, and there should be a deterrent. We must ensure that such traders are reported to law enforcement agents while proper charges are preferred against such uncultured and indiscipline conducts.
“This embarrassing act is totally uncalled for. Most women are emotionally affected by these ridiculous activities, which, if not curbed, could lead to a breakdown of law and order due to the provocative conducts of such inhuman treatment.”
A Lagos-based lawyer and human rights activist, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, also condemned the act. He described sexual harassment of women as illegal and immoral, adding that taunting ladies and using them as objects of fun was wrong.
Adegboruwa cited Section 34 of the 1999 Constitution, which states that every citizen is entitled to the right to human dignity and respect of his or her person.
“To that extent, it is wrong for anyone to be touching a lady or see her as an object of ridicule or entertainment, or to be touching her buttocks or any other private areas,” he stated.
Market leaders, traders’ defence
Some traders and market leaders in Lagos said those male traders, who sexually molest female customers, were unregistered traders thronging the markets daily.
Many of such traders, they claimed, were found on the kerbs and walkways.
A trader, Mr. Bakare Kazeem, who spoke to our correspondent in one of the Lagos markets, said the randy traders enjoy moving around markets, brandishing their wares and looking for whom to hoodwink with their irresistible offers.
Kazeem pointed out that sexual harassment of ladies was usually perpetrated by unregistered traders he called “baranda.”
He said, “These traders don’t own shops. They usually manhandle ladies passing by in their bid to encourage them to buy from them. Most of them are youths who either dropped out of school and don’t have jobs. I remember one that happened recently. The boy manhandled a lady and even removed her chain in the process.’’
Another trader, who identified himself as Emmanuel, said the crime persisted because none of the “randy boys” had been arrested and prosecuted.
“And because the boys are many, I don’t know where the police will begin their work from. It has become a normal occurrence across markets and nobody is doing anything about it,” he added.
Speaking with SUNDAY PUNCH, the Babalaje of Tejuoso Phase 2 Market in Yaba, Mr. Olanrewaju Azeez, said stories of sexual harassment in the market had reached the union, noting that there was little the leaders could do to curb it.
Azeez explained that it was hard to impose sanctions on such randy traders because most of them were unregistered traders. The market leader said he made an example of one of such randy traders recently when he harassed a lady.
He stated, “It is a tough problem for us in this market. Most of the ladies harassed are fond of dressing indecently. Yaba has many traders from different parts of the country. Most of those who commit this crime are dropouts and louts. It is very difficult to deal with them because they are many. How many of them can we really deal with?”
Also reacting to the issue, the President, Computer and Allied Products Dealers Association of Nigeria, a market group of traders in the Computer Village, Mr. Adeyemi Ojikutu, said sexual harassment of ladies rarely happened at the ICT market.
Ojikutu also claimed he was not aware that any woman was verbally or sexually harassed at any time in the market.
He, however, said there could be a few cases of sexual harassment in the market compared to other markets in the state.
When our correspondent contacted the Iyaloja-General of Lagos, Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, on the issue, she promised to get back to our correspondent. But she had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report. She also didn’t respond to a text message sent to her mobile.
But the issue has attracted the attention of the Lagos State Government, according to the Coordinator of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi.
She added that a few cases on the issue were reported.
Vivour-Adeniyi said, “The law is very clear. These acts constitute sexual harassment. As provided for by the law, sexual harassment is unwelcome sexual advances, request for favours and other visual, verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature.
“We have had a few cases of this nature reported. People need to be taught to respect boundaries.”
Stakeholders offer solutions to the despicable practice
One of the solutions to the issue, according to Omejalile, lies in instituting fresh measures by market leaders to ensure the registration of all traders.
He believed market leaders must ensure that traders abide by a code of conduct, failure to obey which would lead to their expulsion from the markets.
Apart from consciously sensitising traders to such abuse, Adegboruwa urged market unions to establish task forces to nip such odious practice in the bud in order to assure smooth patronage and free movement in the markets.
He added, “Beyond this, the law enforcement agents must be alive and sensitive to attend to complaints from any citizen, on cases of assault, harassment or embarrassment.
“More specifically, it amounts to trespass to touch anyone, let alone a lady, against his or her own volition or consent. By our own standard in society, ladies deserve special protection from any form of assault, harassment or embarrassment.”
Hassan, on his part, called for a special mobile offences law to be promulgated to protect the rights of vulnerable women.
We’ll arrest culprits if victims report to us — Police
Also, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos Police Command, SP Chike Oti, noted that the crime was on the rise because “victims don’t come out to report to the police.”
He added, “We can arrest such traders if we receive a complaint from any of their victims. Acts like indiscriminate touching of women are indecent assault and a crime.
“If any lady comes to complain, we will take action. They need to come forward with their complaints so that we can make arrests and investigate them.”
