the moment he loses it being the moment he dies by the hand of the person he keeps the cog for in the first place.

also i am sure there is a meaning in the cog stopping when the corrupted part of the hexcore is showing.

the bad interpretation being that the part of the core that is corrupted won.

the good one that magic (and with it vik?) can win again.

i am more convinced of the first one unfortunately.
