The Fish in the Envelope
The other day, a fish stranded in the mailbox of Gabriele and Gerald. Not an average fish, of course, no swordfish, no trout, and no mackerel, but a FLUXfish. The strange animal had already visited Pam Chatfield, Mikel Untzilla, Rebekka Schmidt, Aina Enciso, Sabela Baña, Sil Dubois, and The Sticker Dude. Gabriele and Gerald helped the fish to grow stronger and sent him to Italy. But as an…

gonna be in denver soon (for a candlelight vigil) and will be spending extra time there to support my cousin, but due to our respective work schedules (I work remote, cousin doesn't) there is plenty of time I'll be free to bop around
any suggestions for an AuDHD queer person that likes absurdity, niche interests, quiet places, and is restricted to mass transit travel options? I am also an outgoing introvert so I like people but only one at a time or in small doses
Uhhhhh ok double check all of these against public transit and if they're still on timed entry but:
- Meow Wolf Denver has always got something cool on
- Denver botanical gardens on York Street are on bus routes and are at their peak rn (best go on a weekday or a day with bad weather
- IDK if the Chatfield botanical gardens are on a reasonable bus route but they're less busy
- Denver art museum and Denver public library are right next to each other and I know they're on bus routes
- every gallery, weird shop and preformer in RiNo on Santa Fe Blvd
- there also the collective at Stapleton which is a ton of niche shops an food stalls and an art gallery at the old Stapleton airport, no ticket needed
- Denver zoo just opened up their Australian exhibit but it tends to be crowded unless you go on a day with bad weather. Which I recommend anyway because the animals are a lot more active when it's raining/stormy out
- Denver Museum of nature and science is right next to the zoo and IDK what their current travelling exhibit is but the permanent exhibits are all A+
-Denver preforming arts center is on RTD, IDK when you're coming but there's always something going on there.
All these places have websites so you can eyeball them and see if they're your thing, pre-purchase your tickets if needed and give you bus route directions.

I am like one of those inflated pale spiders you see in old gardens. Sitting in the middle of a luminous web and giving little jerks to this or that strand. My web is spread all over the house as I listen from my chair where I sit like a wily wizard. Is Lo in her room? Gently I tug on the silk. She is not. Just heard the toilet paper cylinder make its staccato sound as it is turned; and no footfalls has my outflung filament traced from the bathroom back to her room. Is she still brushing her teeth (the only sanitary act Lo performs with real zest)? No. The bathroom door has just been slammed, so one has to feel elsewhere about the house for the beautiful warm-colored prey. Let us have a strand of silk descend the stairs. I satisfy myself by this means that she is not in the kitchen—not banging the refrigerator door or screeching at her detested mamma (who, I suppose, is enjoying her third, cooing and subduedly mirthful, telephone conversation of the morning). Well, let us grope and hope. Ray-like I glide in through to the parlor and find the radio silent (and mamma still talking to Mrs. Chatfield or Mrs. Hamilton, very softly, flushed, smiling, cupping the telephone with her free hand, denying by implication that she denies those amusing rumors, rumor, roomer, whispering intimately, as she never does, the clear-cut lady, in face to face talk). So my nymphet is not in the house at all! Gone! What I thought was a prismatic weave turns out to be but an old gray cobweb, the house is empty, is dead.

DFP Actors August: Meighan Desmond
NZ actors tend to end up in a lot of the same shows over the years it seems. I have a lot of fun spotting familiar faces, so I thought this would be a fun and silly little project, seeing which actors have repeatedly been in things that Deano was also in (not necessarily alongside). Just a bit of trivia. Enjoy!
Hercules: The Legendary Journeys (1995-1998/1997-1999)
Dean played a few different characters on this show: Iloran - S1E12 “The Gauntlet” Young Iolaus - S4E3 “Regrets… I’ve Had a Few”, S4E11 “Medea Culpa” and S4E20 “Twilight”. Ruun - S4E7 “Prodigal Sister
Meighan played Discord in 7 episodes: S4E6 "Two Men and a Baby" S4E9 "If I Had a Hammer" S4E16 "Porkules" S4E17 "One Fowl Day" S5E18 "Love on the Rocks" S5E20 "Fade Out" S6E7 "A Wicked Good Time"
I am in complete love with Discord's aesthetics across the Hercules/Xena shows/movies. I just think she's so pretty, in a sort of cute-bratty-evil-vampire kind of way. Ugh. (But I'm also super fond of Aphrodite. I'm a simp for hot girls, idk what to tell you.)
Shortland Street (1996/1994-1996)
Dean played Nurse Harry Martin in 1996. Meighan played Lulu Chatfield (apparently 1994-1996? She was in one of the episodes I found of Dean's so for sure 1996).
Xena: Warrior Princess (1996,2000/1997-2000)
Dean played two roles: Homer/Orion - S1E13 “Athens City Academy of the Performing Bards” Wiglaf - S6E9 “Return of the Valkyrie”
Meighan played Discord in 4 episodes: S3E4 "The Deliverer", S4E19 "Takes One to Know One", S5E15 "Married with Fishsticks" and S5E22 "Motherhood" -- and also Sturgina in episode S5E15 "Married with Fishsticks". (Okay, I haven't watched it yet but "Married with Fishsticks" sounds hilarious.)
Young Hercules (1998)
(This is the TV movie that preceded the Young Hercules TV show.) Dean played Young Iolaus. Meighan played Discord. Look at those pigtails. WHAT?
Young Hercules (1998-1999)
Dean played one of the main characters, Young Iolaus, in 46 of the 50 episodes. Meighan played (you guessed it!) Discord in 7 episodes, "Inn Trouble", "Battle Lines: Part 2", "Ares on Trial", "A Serpent's Tooth", "Con Ares", "The Prize" and "Mila".
---
IMDB claims Meighan is in "When Love Comes" (a 1998 film starring Dean) but I own the DVD and she's not listed in the credits from what I could see, nor did I remember her being in it, nor could I find her when I spent far too long looking for her in it while prepping this post. (I was actually excited when I saw her listed for it.) She's credited as "Shelley" on IMDB but idek who that would be or when in the film - if anyone knows, please tell me haha.
Did I miss anything else?

Who Am I?
First Blog on this website... So let's start at who I am. You can call me what my username is, or just call me Mav for short. I'm 16, male, Asian, and no.. Not looking for a relationship. I'm in 11th grade STEM class writing on this blog for E-tech... What's next?... Let me just start with my hobbies. Playing Games: It all started when I was 3 or 4, when my dad had me sat on his lap and play my first game, "Feeding Frenzy". It's a game where you control this fish and you eat other fish to grow into a bigger fish which is the main premise of the game which I loved playing. It then branched out to other genres which was kid-friendly at first: Putt-Putt, Jumpstart, Bookworm Adventures. Then that's where things changed after waking up one morning when I was 5, Dad was playing this racing car game which looked better than Jumpstart Advanced 1st Grade or Putt-Putt enters the race. It was Need for Speed: Carbon. (Fun fact: It was this game that I learned how to use the keyboard...well the arrows which then switched to "aswd" and it was because of this that it took 7 years to correct my hand placement since I had one that I was comfortable with when playing the NFS series). It then branched to other genres which were other NFS titles like Most Wanted, COD (MW3 and B0), RTS games like Total War and Empires, Open-World games like Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Overlord, KOA: Reckoning and just a little bit of DA. It was a fun childhood though most of these games lost their flair after a couple years. One last thing about games. Just after Covid19 started, I was looking for more games to play and I stumbled upon Osu well... more like watched a god tier gamer in YT have insane reaction speed. Tried it, sucked at standard so I switched to Mania and man, did I do good on that Easy map so I kept playing till after 2 years. Here's my acc if anyone's interested: https://osu.ppy.sh/users/19218817. That's it for this game hobby that I have, moving on. Reading/Watching Fiction: I'm a huge nerd of fiction. Dad is a huge nerd of it as well. So let's repeat again. Dad, huge fan of Star Wars, had 6 year old me look into it. Didn't like it since the movies were all "prequel of the sequel of the yadda yadda" fast forward a few years, Hobbit came out, had me interested, went with my dad to the cinemas to watch, remarked the LOTR trilogy was better, watched that after, told me to read tolkien's instead, read the hobbit instead cause tolkien's was too long, Dad discovered LitRpg, didn't notice anything, only after a few months did I notice him using his phone a bit too much, I asked and found out E-books. It was a rough start, trying to read LitRpg since most of them were harems and such but a few good ones started to come out. Aleron Kong's The Land Series and Michael Chatfield's Emirilia Series, go check them out. Moving on.
Exercise: Did a little Taekwondo(Red belt), stopped for a few years, Went gym.
That's it for hobbies. Just gonna put a few Interests here and there. Music: Mainly emo rock. Bands like MCR, Panic!ATD before he went pop, paramore and more. See what I did there? Food: Anything that isn't shrimp paste. That's it, Thank you for reading. *gonna add stuff if I can think of more things to put in*

Several readers have submitted information about Michigan's former Speaker of the State House, Lee Chatfield. Have you heard about him?
First, he's a graduate of Northland Baptist Bible College and Liberty University. His dad pastors the KJVO Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church.
But then . . . he's a alleged sexual predator. Here's the local news coverage:
Former Michigan House Speaker Lee Chatfield on Friday denied claims he sexually abused his sister-in-law but admitted to an affair as her lawyer made more detailed accusations about the former lawmaker's alleged assaults on the 26-year-old woman.
While Chatfield's lawyer argued the woman was a "consenting adult" over the age of 18, the woman's lawyer maintained the sexual abuse began when she was 15 — before Michigan's legal age of consent — and said Chatfield "manipulated" her at a vulnerable time through their connection at a northern Michigan church.
The abuse continued into adulthood, including on her wedding night, said Jamie White, the woman's lawyer.
Chatfield's lawyer, Mary Chartier, said the affair with the woman accusing the 33-year-old Levering Republican lasted years, "but they were both consenting adults." The married former lawmaker also acknowledged he has had multiple affairs.
"Mr. Chatfield deeply regrets the decisions he has made," Chartier said in a statement. "It has caused great pain to his wife and family, and they are working through this together. But he did not assault this woman in any manner during their years-long adult relationship. He intends to vigorously fight these false claims."
White denied there was anything "consensual" about the relationship. Chatfield, White said, took advantage of the woman when she would come over to watch his kids, "manipulated her through the church," took advantage of her while she was "vulnerable," and assaulted the woman "in a closet on her wedding night."
"The former speaker's behavior has been reprehensible, and I am confident he will be held accountable for his actions," White said.
In response to White's statement, Chartier stressed the relationship only occurred while the woman was a "consenting adult" and over the age of 18.
"He did not manipulate or take advantage of her," she said. "She was an adult, and she made her own choices."
In Michigan, it is considered illegal for an adult to have sex with a person younger than the age of 16. The age of consent increases to 18 if the perpetrator is a teacher and the victim is a student at the same school.
The Detroit News does not usually identify victims of sexual assault. The woman, through White, agreed to disclose her relationship to Chatfield but asked not to be publicly named.
The woman filed a complaint with the Lansing Police Department in December alleging she'd been assaulted by the former House speaker from the time she was about 15 and into last year.
The Lansing Police Department still is investigating the claims within its jurisdiction while a Michigan State Police post in northern Michigan is also working on the investigation, the agencies said Thursday.
The investigation focuses on allegations that Chatfield sexually abused the woman for about 12 years, starting when she was a teenager and attending Chatfield's church, Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church, White said. The alleged abuse continued while she attended the school associated with the church and ended in 2021.
"We are very confident that between Michigan State Police and our independent investigation he’s going to be held accountable,” White said Thursday. "This young woman is extremely terrified of what’s coming forward for her as far as how the ex-speaker is going to respond. We're wrapping our arms around her to make sure she has tools to deal with this.”
Chatfield served as a representative for a northern Michigan district for six years and served as speaker of the House, the highest position in the chamber, his last two years in office, 2019 and 2020. When he assumed leadership of the chamber amid divided government at age 30, Chatfield was the youngest House speaker in more than a century.
During his time leading the House, Chatfield passed a historic auto insurance reform package through the state House and became known as an effective fundraiser for Republican candidates.
Before serving in the House, Chatfield was a full-time high school teacher, coach and athletic director at Northern Michigan Christian Academy in Burt Lake.
His father, Rusty, was superintendent and history teacher for the school. He also is pastor of Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church and is regularly featured on conservative talk radio in northern Michigan.
Chatfield was arrested, but not criminally charged in 2018 after he carried a loaded, unregistered handgun into the Pellston Regional Airport. Authorities found the weapon during a routine scan of his carry-on bag.
He paid a $1,960 fine to the federal Transportation Security Administration in relation to the incident.
Chatfield won his House seat in 2014 by foisting incumbent GOP Rep. Frank Foster, in part by campaigning against Foster's support for an expansion of the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act — an expansion that would shield people from discrimination due to sexual orientation or gender identity.
In 2021, after leaving office, Chatfield's opposition to the expansion cost him a job as CEO of a southwestern Michigan economic development group. He resigned amid a wave of criticism over his stance on the issue, noting "as a Christian, I believe the Bible. I don't want to hide from that."
So it started when the victim was under age and attending the "Christian" school where Chatfield taught (connected with his dad's church, of course).
So Northland has its own proof of its product.

New Beginnings I am embarking on a Jew beginning. This will be my first year with no kids at home in 12 years. So many people have asked if I am excited and honestly I don’t know how to feel about it yet. My kids have been a large part of my identity and now I have to fully focus on who I am without them. It’s a little daunting. But I’m going to jump in head fist. My goal is to let go and function from rest and not hurry. Cheers to New Beginnings. #augusteyecandy #augusteyecandychallenge #tylerbphotography #tylerbphotographer #tylerbphotos #photography #photographer #naturallightphotography #naturallightphotographer #coloradophotographer #photoservices #localphotographer #newbeginnings (at Chatfield Botanic Gardens) https://www.instagram.com/p/CSE0rvSrQjl/?utm_medium=tumblr

Colorado Triathlon 6/4/2022 and Paddleboarding
I like triathlons. I really do. However I do doubt myself a lot. I have fear of open water and I also feel like I am a bit of an imposter cyclist. Most triathletes were cyclists first but I was not. I am a good swimmer but I also have a very real fear of open water. I know that these are things to work on and I try very hard to do so.
I do my best to swim in open water when possible. Unfortunately, I only had a week to do open water swimming before my race on June 4. The water has just been too cold. I registered for an open water swim race 2 days before the triathlon. The funny thing about a deep phobia is that it never goes away. I have been swimming consistently the whole year and even went open water swimming at Chatfield prior to the race. I started the race fine and then I started feeling like something heavy was sitting on my chest and I couldn’t breathe. I kept trying to put my head in the water and swim but I kept feeling like I couldn’t breathe. I completed the race doing breaststroke with my head above the water. It was very traumatic.
The night before the triathlon, I got real scared and hardly slept. I didn’t wake up early enough and almost missed the race. As soon as I parked the car, I got on my bike and rode as fast as I could to the start. When I pressed on the brakes, it made a loud sound and a bunch of Boulder cyclists started laughing at me. This is the very reason I don’t ever feel like I am a real cyclist. The Boulder cyclists can really make you feel low. My theory is that they have a lot of money and are used to bossing and acting like they are above others.
I kept hurrying and getting my stuff set up and a nice volunteer came up to me and said, “Give me your arm sweetie so I can write your race number. Don’t stress about this. It isn’t as if you are late for work or anything.” I wanted to hug that lady!
I started to put my wetsuit on and I talked to many of the swimmers. Everyone was super nervous and making jokes. They really settled my nerves a lot. The sun was also out very bright and warm. It felt good to put by body in the 63 degree water. It was very nice and relieving. When the start gun went off, I was surprised to find out that my swim was very easy and relaxed. My breathing was calm and I was enjoying myself. I was enjoying myself so much that I looked up and saw that I was going the wrong direction. One of the kayaks came and told me to turn the other direction. He caught me before I got too far off track, thankfully.
I got out of the water and onto the bike. I felt like I held my own pretty well. I would pass a few people and a few people would pass me. I rode up next to a guy and he said, “Damn! These guys are fast!” I said, “Welcome to Boulder!” I made him laugh. I also looked at the beautiful scenery. The bike portion takes almost an hour so it is easily the biggest part of the triathlon. It was a perfectly clear day and the mountains were gorgeous. The course is pretty flat with a few rolling hills. It was quite fun.
At the end of the bike portion, I got off running with my bike helmet still on. I didn’t go too far so I turned around and put it down so I wouldn’t look silly. I had quite a bit of speed and I had so much fun passing people. I passed almost everyone that passed me on the bike. A few fast men passed me.
When I finished, I enjoyed a bit of the festivities and talked to a few people. They wouldn’t let me get in to take my bike home for 45 minutes so I had time to walk around. I was surprised to see that I finished 3rd in my age group. 2 women that passed me on the bike walked up to me and said I was very speedy on the run.
So here is the things about triathlons that I love; They are hard. They are scary. They require a lot of preparation. They work all different parts of your body. They push you to overcome challenges that are not just physical in nature. Overcoming those fears and mastering the skill is a huge accomplishment. Triathlon is a metaphor for life.
The next day, I took the kids to Chatfield to try out our new paddle boards. It was a perfect day and very warm. We got inflatable boards, which most people seem to have now. They fit in a backpack and you can carry them down to the beach and blow them up. They are surprisingly easy to set up.
We attached lifejackets to our board and took off. We went pretty far into the reservoir and just laid out and talked. It was very relaxing and peaceful.
Many people commented on how good Lola was. She really has no fear of water whatsoever, so we put a lifejacket on her too.
Connor is a goofball and kept falling in and messing around with Carly.
We plan on spending a lot of time at lakes and reservoirs this summer. The girls have now bought themselves enough swimsuits for a lifetime!
