And the prose is so great. This is a masterclass fic.

Strong Enough To Stand by @the-blind-assassin-12 Oof. This both hurt and was satisfying. Joel has a habit of holding onto love and hurt. It's definitely detrimental at times. But damn if it doesn't illustrate how fiercely he loves. Alyssa's lead up story to this--It Pours From Your Eyes--nearly destroyed me, but this one thankfully helped to soothe.

Surrender Chapter 13 and Chapter 14 by @ezrasbirdie Birdie gave us a beautiful reunion and ending for Daisy and Joel and I'm just so proud of her for putting her heart into a wonderful OC. There's so much in this series about learning to love and--even more interesting--learning to BE loved, and both Joel and Daisy are wonderful for that. I know there's an epilogue coming and I will patiently wait for my desert while this meal of a fic settles in my heart.

Saying I love you through an accidental kiss by @songsformonkeys Listen. Joel Miller's got a lot going on today and it's chaotic and you made him food and took care of Sarah and you...you reached for him first. SOFT! CUTENESS!

We won, we scored, it’s World Cup season and I’m living for it.

Soph is inevitable and how fucking exciting is it that she got TWO goals and an assist in her World Cup debut. So good. So deserving. Miss ma’am put in the WORK today. She also needs to make quicker decisions on her passing, she waits and loses the open opportunities forcing her to go back or try to take on 4 players on the dribble.

Trin, also a DEBUT. It’s really really fun to see these players on this giant stage. And tbh, I think Trin would have done better if she hadn’t been trucked in the first 30 seconds. I think she’ll likely build in this tournament. I’m waiting for a worldie.

Alex - needed exactly what Tobin said in the first re inc recap episode. She needs good service. Soph and Trin like to dribble. There’s a conflicting front line game plan. That being said, she worked her ass off. Had really good opportunities and read situations really well. And my GOD, that flick assist to Soph is what dreams are made of. Should we ignore the penalty? Ummm. I kind of already blocked it from my brain. Soph should have taken it.

Pinoe, I love her. We all love her. Not her game. We know this. She obviously knows it. But the promising thing she does is that she’s this linking spark. Lindsey must have been pumped to have her in because all of a sudden, there were passing triangles pinging all over that side.

Alyssa (baby) - another youngin! I can’t find it in me to be anything but so freaking happy seeing the youth get this experience. No curmudgeon here for now. She had one great run and cross that was promising. Had a hard time staying on her feet, but can ya blame her?

Andi, sweet Andi. This was a great game for her to get minutes and side bar; she’s not a baby youth but it’s her first World Cup too and I’m PROUD. Idk if she’s always gonna cut it against top opponents but I appreciate her vision and her physicality. She’s a brick wall and really and truly, in a 50/50 sitch, my money is on Andi staying tall and the opposing player eating grass.

Savannah. How’s she doing? Can she believe it? How NUTS to have your literal second cap be starting the first game of the World Cup. She was getting shoved and getting really familiar with the grass for a bit, but she settled and actually looked extremely comfortable, stood out positively, and had some really good goal opportunities. She’s very cool, I wanna see a banger one of these games.

Lindsey has a pretty good game! She is a brilliant player and there were such good moments showing just that. Her pass to Alex’s flick to the first goal. Beautiful. And she had a few more that were so so nice. Went down easy a few times per usual but I do think she adjusted to the game and the lack of calls and she was working to stay up, putting that damn muscle to good use. She does have a tendency to overthink the strike when the ball takes a hot second to get to her. But, that third goal. A solid freaking rip.

Miss Rose. I missed that pale bitch so much. She makes the midfield. She makes those around her better. She allows a different attack because she carries the ball so well and folks are confident in her foot skills to allow her to work. She wasn’t perfect - her headers will forever crack me up. But we are at our best with Rose on the field.

Naomi. First World Cup whom? She is smooth, she is calm, she is consistent. Idk how she’s so young. She’s got amazing energy, big fan.

Center back Julie. She did what we needed back there. I’m curious if she was utilized as center back for the veteran experience or if she was put there instead of in the 6 because her fitness level isn’t midfield tier yet. Either way, blue headband blonde hair target on set pieces is something I’ve been missing in my life. She’s crazy. And we need it. Idk whom else is working as hard as her to get a body part on the ball for set pieces. (Can I say it? Can I say I miss Jill Ellis era set pieces?)

Crystal was doing lovely Crystal things. She works super well with Soph and if Soph could have weighted those passes better on the overlaps, oooohhhhhh!! Could’ve been SO good.

Foxy, a commanding debut. She looked v good. Maybe a touch better on crossing but she really just killed it. No other notes needed.

Kelley. Miss Bitch. Miss ‘I Know Exactly the energy you gotta bring to a big tournament’. No joke. Kelley brought tournament vibes onto the field. Her experience is unparalleled and I thought she made good use of her minutes. Her overlaps were good. Her connection with Lindsey and Pinoe was very good. And her crossing was spot on.

Sofia. Not the debut I’m sure she wanted. Usually a great crosser, not great today. Got smoked on the one defensive run needed. It’s a bummer.

Alyssa (uncle). I love her. I trust her. She didn’t have to do much. But I still love her.

And Vlatko gets a section because he confuses me. His game plan always seems so sleepy. The thing about the USWNT is that they used to put on a show. Loud sparkly ruthless bad bitches. And the personnel still has that in them, I KNOW THAT. I just don’t know why that’s not being accessed and unleashed. Which makes me blame coaching. Idk if he’s too nice, too careful, too unwilling to change the expected game plan when the actual game requires something different.

I am just a dumb bitch on the internet, however, if my players are getting pushed and shoved left and right and the ref isn’t calling shit…. I may rethink my idea of putting in my two most fragile (and arguably some of the most important) players in. I am so aware that Rose and Pinoe needed game minutes. Especially before the Netherlands. So I’ll let it slide this time lol. But the energy of that game - the ref letting all the physicality, pushing and tackling slide? That’s a… oh, maybe I put a Kristie and a Sonnett in and get them to put on their enforcer pants and change the flow of this game.

Hi Kat! 🙋🏻‍♀�� I hope you’re having a great weekend! Thanks for swinging by, this is a fun question!!

And I’m actually going to answer it with two pairs of non-Pedro media, because why not? Also because whenever someone asks me what my favorite anything is, either A) everything I’ve ever enjoyed leaves my brain in that moment and I freeze and say something like “potato 👍🏻” or B) everything I’ve ever enjoyed rushes in all at once demanding to be chosen. It was the latter this time, so I’ve whittled it to two things. Really 4 because pairs. So I haven’t really whittled much, have I? Oh well.

Pair #1: Station Eleven by Emily St. John-Mandel & Station Eleven, the HBO limited series

This story - both versions of it - rewired my brain and left indelible marks on my heart. I say both versions, because the show differs quite a bit from the book, but in ways that are just as right and good and satisfying and that truly define the word “adaptation”. The show is not at all a 1:1 of the book. But it’s so extremely clear that these are the same characters and this is the same world and I think it was just really beautifully brought to life in both mediums.

It’s an apocalypse story that focuses on a group of people who never get face time in apocalypse stories: the creatives. Writers and actors and artists and musicians. It’s about family - the ones we choose and the ones were born into. It’s about life and love and the reasons we find for carrying on. It’s about getting to what’s important and holding onto it. And it’s full of some of the most beautiful and chilling lines/visuals I’ve ever experienced.

“Hell is the absence of the people you long for” and “To the monsters, we’re the monsters” and “What was lost in the collapse: almost everything, almost everyone, but there is still such beauty” and the entire “I remember damage”/text of Miranda’s graphic novel will live rent free in my head for life.

Bonus? If you’re absolutely heartbroken and soul sick over Joel & Ellie and the world of TLOU in general, you’ll find a balm in show version Kirsten & Jeevan. (It’s also a good apocalypse story for anyone who doesn’t like gore and/or zombies - the “event” in this one sweeps through very fast and doesn’t leave any mutant humanoid freaks behind 👍🏻)

Watch it, read it, read it, watch it - there’s no wrong order, just dive in.

Pair #2: How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful & The Odyssey by Florence + the Machine.

My favorite album from my favorite musician along with the short film created from the music videos. HBx3 is immaculate. The lyric in my header actually comes from one of the songs on it - St. Jude. Even the bonus tracks are pure gold. Caught, Make Up Your Mind & Mother are my favorites.

And The Odyssey scratches my brain’s itch for visuals in a super satisfying way. As someone who lived for TRL and Pop Up Video, I love me a good music video, and with this it’s just one after the other all excellently strung together. And it’s so dramatic. Like soooooo extra. 🖤

United States: 2024 CONCACAF W Gold Cup Champions

SAN DIEGO (March 10, 2024) – The U.S. Women’s National Team won the inaugural Concacaf W Gold Cup with a 1-0 win against Brazil in front of an enthusiastic crowd of 31,528 fans on a beautiful night in San Diego. A goal from team captain Lindsey Horan in the dying moments of the first half was enough to clinch the victory and for the U.S. to claim its 15th all-time title at a Concacaf championship tournament.

The crowd was the largest ever for a Concacaf women’s event hosted in the United States. The USA finished the tournament with 15 goals as forward Jadeyn Shaw scored four times in the tournament while Horan had three.

Shaw earned the Golden Ball as the best player of the tournament and goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher earned the Golden Glove as the best goalkeeper. Naeher earned four shutouts in her five starts and etched her place in USWNT history with a stellar three-save performance in the penalty shootout against Canada in the semifinal. The USA also earned the tournament’s Fair Play award.

The first half was a tight and physical contest, but the USA did well to stay organized on defense despite some heavy challenges as the teams combined for 12 fouls before the break. The Americans came close to opening the scoring on a few occasions while also doing well to create opportunities on counter attacks. The USA finally created a goal in first half stoppage time when Horan finished off a long cross from Fox that came deep from the right flank. Horan rose above her defender and sent a perfect header across the frame into the right corner, marking her third goal of the tournament and her first from open play after previously burying two from the penalty spot.

Inspired by the late goal, the USA came out strong in the second half, connecting well with quick passes and threatening Brazil down the wings with speed. On the defensive end, the U.S. put on a masterclass – led by center backs Naomi Girma and Tierna Davidson, neither of whom put a foot wrong all night – to deny Brazil any shots on goal despite the South Americans taking 11 total shots, while Crystal Dunn and Emily Fox did well to limit any forwards getting behind them on the flanks.

The Americans nearly doubled their lead in the 79th minute after winning a ball from Brazil in the defensive third which led to Lynn Williams getting in behind the defense. The halftime sub beat the goalkeeper with good finish, but her goal was correctly waved off for offside.

Brazil fought until the end and strung together a few dangerous chances toward the final moments, especially on set plays, but the USA held strong – including a goal line clearance from defender Casey Krueger – to earn the victory.

GOAL SCORING RUNDOWN: USA – Lindsey Horan (Emily Fox), 45+1 minute: Trinity Rodman received the ball on the right wing and dribbled all the way to the end line, inviting pressure from two defenders before finding Fox open behind her. Fox sent a cross toward the far post where Horan rose to finish with a header into the right side netting from six yards out. USA 1, BRA 0

ADDITIONAL NOTES: Emily Fox’s assist to set up Horan’s goal was her first of 2024 and third in her career. Horan's four goal contributions (3 goals, 1 assist) tied with Jaedyn Shaw (4 goals) for the most on the team this tournament. Horan has now been directly involved in a goal in 4 of her 5 appearances for the USA in competitive finals. She scored in the final of 2016 Olympic qualifying vs. Canada, had an assist in the final of 2018 World Cup Qualifying vs CAN, scored in the final of 2020 Olympic Qualifying vs. Canada and now scored in the Concacaf W Gold Cup Final. At 20 years and 149 days of age, Korbin Albert became the youngest player to start a competitive final for the USA since Mallory Swanson (formerly Pugh) started the final of Olympic qualifying in 2016 at age 17. The match was the fourth matchup between the USWNT and Brazil in a final, with the USA winning each of them by a one goal margin. The USA and Brazil have played 39 times total with the U.S. leading the overall series 32W-5D-3L. The USA has won each of its last six games against Brazil, though nine of the last 10 games between the teams have been decided by two goals or fewer. Jaedyn Shaw has now won the Golden Ball in both Concacaf tournaments in which she has participated. She previously earned the honor at the U-15 level in 2018.

I’ve loved every single one of the themes you’ve had, but the colors for this one are my favorite!! How do you go about choosing your designs for your themes, do you just wing it or do you do some moodboard-esque planning beforehand?

First, thank you so much!! Second, the majority of the time I just kind of wing it? A lot of my theme changes are very in the moment. Like this one was spurred on because I was scrolling through Pinterest and got that gif of Alyssa smiling that I have as my header. And it just reminded me of how much I love TEotFW and specifically that scene where James and Alyssa are dancing together. And I went, “Lol, this is gonna be my personality for a while now.”

Sometimes I plan things ahead of time but for the most part it’s just like…me needing the refreshment on my blog and grasping at like the first piece of inspiration that hits me.

the pinned post: introduction, faqs, and more!

hey all! figured it's high time I do a pinned post here to help establish some stuff. so, why don't we start with the introductions hmmm?

Who am I?

My name is Elisa (said like Alyssa), I'm a 21+ queer disabled woman who identifies as panromantic and asexual and has been professionally diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and Acute Stress Disorder (ASD, or sometimes AStressD in order to not confuse it with autism. 90% of the time on this blog ASD refers to Acute Stress over Autism Spectrum Disorders!) I have an emotional support animal, a cat named Hydrus, the inspo for my theming/profile picture/header picture. He's an adorable, chaotic, braincell-less tuxedo who is three and I adore with my life.

Where do I live/work?

I currently do not work and receive state disability through the General Assistance program, along with Medicaid, in my home state of Delaware in the good ol' USA. I also am currently in the application process for my state's SNAP program along with renewing my benefits for the first time. I tend not to share stuff about my state disability for privacy reasons, though due to the extremely small amount of my GA check, I live with my family still in the southern half of the state.

What about your fam?

Welp, I am the living definition of "eldest daughter of a dysfunctional family". I live with my father, younger sister, and little kid brother. My sister is a fanfic writer for Just Dance and is heavily involved in the fandom to the point she's got her own Wiki page on the Just Dance Wiki. Like, she's huge in that community. (And no, don't go looking for her/send asks to me about her. She's got a Tumblr, go follow/ask her that stuff.) My mother lives out in the Midwest but Barely (her home state is literally one state away from the Northeast and South so... Barely.) with my stepfather and extremely young half-sister. I don't talk to my mother or stepfather since my mother emotionally abused me throughout my childhood and young adult years, and my stepfather helped perpetrate that abuse, which mean poor little half-sis is also on the No Contact Whatsoever List. My father's family hails from Germany and Sweden (my grandfather was a firstgen American born to Swede immigrants and my grandmother immigrated here from 1940/50s Germany (the region is now modern-day Hungary) after World War II.). My grandfather unfortunately has passed away by now, and my grandmother, uncle and his fam all live in Virginia.

What do you post about?

Well, ain't that a tossup. A majority of the time, it's fandom posts, particularly leaning heavily into the All for the Game fandom, and its four books. (Note: read at your own risk of triggers and check the trigger list before delving in. These are some heavy books), and my queer and disabled identities. If you scroll back far enough to 2022, you'll see I had a brief Harry Potter phase that has been firmly squashed into the ground, and also the fanfiction era. I do not write any fanfiction any longer, and most of my works for AFTG were orphaned, and my Harry Potter fics have all been deleted outright. Nowadays though, it's mostly reblogs of people within the fandom community. Sometimes, mostly around elections I need to vote in, I do get political for a few days and in my likes/reblogs I tend to repost resources for marginalized communities there so if anyone needs them, they can look there. Otherwise, it's all for the AFTG, and my fun times baby. Also, there's no tagging system here. Just chaotic vibes. There are a few common ones that pop up, but otherwise no labeling system here.

**extreme side note: I do have some posts, if you scroll back far enough, that are from a time when I was completely mentally unstable. Most of these aren't reblogs but rather original posts and deal with some very heavy topics. I'm still trying to find them all but typically those posts have a mental-health related title and a read more after triggers. Tread lightly, especially around November 2022-October 2023.

What boundaries do you have?

There are a few in my bio beneath my profile picture already, but here are the others.

Like said in my bio, I have asks on, but not the option to leave anon asks. This is due to the fact that the last time my asks were open with anon asks on, I got a slew of hate and bigotry, including but not limited to being called slurs, people attempting to doxx me, spread false information about me or confront me about said false information. So, with the refresh I've turned them back on since it's been about 15 months. HOWEVER, anon asks are off because if you can't say it to my face and need to hide behind a mask of anonymity, two things happen: it makes it harder for me to report the worst offenders and allows them to create burners to keep going, and also it weighs hard on my mental health to not know who is saying it or why. So, the boundary is simple and clear: If you don't have something that isn't positive, or a valid and legitimate question, either say it with your full face and chest or do not say it at all. If those options don't satisfy you, Tumblr offers restricting, muting, or blocking options so you may never see or hear from me again. ALSO: on this blog I do tend to get negative (thanks BPD pessimism) BUT hatred and bigotry have no place ANYWHERE on my blog, whether in replies/reblogs, my asks, or even my message box. Anything that is a blatant violation of Tumblr Terms of Service, or spreads hatred, misinformation and/or bigotry will at the very least be deleted and the offending blog blocked, and in instances of TOS violations, will also be reported. Just don't and keep this a safe space for everyone.

On the topic of that, politics. As said earlier, I am sometimes quite political. If ya couldn't tell by now either, I am also not a Trumpie. While I will not outright block you guys, see paragraph 1 above. I will also always post resources for marginalized communities as well.

And on paragraph 2, and the fact I hate that I have to say this, I have a personal document that is consistently updated with all Gaza relief/Middle Eastern conflict relief fundraisers. I've had several asks come through lately asking to share fundraisers, and if they are not in that document, or I cannot vet the fact that the fundraiser is legitimate on all fronts, it will not be posted. It will be deleted. 'Nuff said. Also, in conjunction with the ask box: spam/scam posts are not only deleted on sight, but every single one is also reported to Tumblr as a TOS violation. Remember that spam and scams are not allowed here.

I am more than happy for you to engage with all my posts in any way, from replies to reblogs to likes to even external link sharing.

My blog is 21+ like I am, and while I'm not going to DNI any specific age, please remember that Tumblr TOS prevents anyone under age 16 in the EU and age 13 with certain restrictions in all other regions. My blog tends to be 16+, leaning quite heavily into 18+. I will sometimes reblog art with the NSFW filters on, and reblog posts that are that age rating or above. Again, I reiterate: the "thatoneelisa" page is at least 16+, and while I will not DNI anyone, if you come whining to me about my blog being inappropriate for kids, I remind you there are several platforms and other blogs on this one that are. If any asks complain about me being inappropriate due to the age of the asker, well buddy, it will be deleted. In conjunction with this, if you allege that you are under 13/16 in the EU in your ask, and I have reason to believe you, it's also a report to Tumblr's staff. This is why we read the TOS guys.

Hopefully the final boundary in place, and I hate saying it, but if we're interacting on Tumblr, 99.99999999999% of the time it's staying on Tumblr. Over 3 years of this blog, I have only ever originated friendships outside of Tumblr that have led me to follow some on here. SO: No, I do not give out other socials or take request from other socials that originate from Tumblr in any situation, no you may not have my phone number or address, or any other personal information not previously covered in this post. No, I will not date you, I am happily single, no my asexuality isn't a phase or something I can be cured of by having sex, I am confident in my sexuality, and no I do not take advice for mental/emotional/physical health from Tumblr. That's reserved for my medical team and a select few family members and friends.
