INKTOBER 23 - Alva and Zullie

The knight and witch. Some time ago I wanted to draw this, from the Dark Souls 2 and I do not give a damn that in Dark Souls 3 they changed the tragic destiny a little bit to them.

But I am happy drawing according to the lore of the DS2, especially because of Lore's Witch Zullie's veil, that even though Alva the Wayfarer, did not manage to finish his mission, at least he found a meaning to his life along with Zullie's love.

Favorite Little Things in Dark Souls:

During various parts of The Ringed City, if you pay attention to your surroundings, you can see Darkeater Midir perched nearby, looking at you harmlessly. Midir only ever attacks you where you can dodge or fight back. Because Midir is still sane, and is gauging if you are worthy enough to put him out of his misery before the abyss claims his mind. One could even say that Midir is testing you to see if you can really best him and lay him to rest at last.

Alva crossed many a land in search of a cure for Saint Serreta's sickness, but failed and relinquished his knighthood. Alva was once wracked with guilt and remorse, but rediscovered his purpose in life with the aid of the witch who once plotted against him.

that’s the description of his armor, which you can pick up from a corpse just outside the cell in irithyll dungeon that holds karla captive, assuming you let him invade you further up in irithyll and you killed him. but karla isn’t “the witch who once plotted against him” - that’s zullie, whose set can be found in the ringed city, protected by alva, who has forgotten his name if not his sense of obligation.

The purple garb of the witch Zullie, who intended to seduce Alva the Wayfarer, but eventually became his closest supporter, spending her entire life with him.

It is said that Zullie the witch, who was never loved, nor loved another, experienced all manner of misfortune, and yet in the end, found her purpose in life.

so what was her purpose? it clearly wasn’t loving him, since it says right there she “was never loved, nor loved another.” here’s my theory:

zullie one day was like “damn i need me a goth gf” and alva, the one true ally, went “zullie, my lesbian best friend. i will give my life to find you a goth gf.”
