(Ignore the camera quality this cellular device has went through being dropped in the toilet and has multiple times slipped out of my hand and went full force against a glass sliding door)

the worm buds can't stay up correctly unless you angle them VEEERRYY specifically and don't move or even breathe on it soo they are basically eachothers support

when I was making the rodimus one I went through hell and back 🤕 because fun fact, rodimus was actually pretty smaller than the soundwave one but like during the process rodimus apparently had a growth spurt over-night

AND here's a funny thing; just a few seconds ago I realized soundwave only has 2 tentacles (I originally gave him three) so I ripped one of them off..🤧

but anyways here's the silly war killing goobers and their fake tree territory !!

stayed up Real late last night finish The Echo Garden. finally

I am not the same, I cried, its one of the best things i’ve ever read, i NEED to read it again, i cried again, oh to read it for he first time again. Altra has such a masterful way with words and detail that my heart raced with suspense. I- there’s no way i could’ve predicted the way certain threads were going to end up. Forget being gut punched, my heart… 🥹

Please, if you haven’t read it, read TEG!! There’s so much good art and fic linked in the chapters. I do hope AltraViolet keeps making TF fanfic in the future, but I’m also excited to see what sort of original work they make! I could gush forever about how much I love their detail in worldbuilding [both science and characterization], but I think I’d run out of space.

hello I have a question not on the ask meme :D how do you figure out plots? plots are one of the hardest parts for me. interested in your method! also happy new years! cheers! thanks for being such a kind and awesome friend =D

Plots! Ask a hard question, why don't you! 😅

I'm a plot gardener. I usually let ideas marinate for a while before I start to write. While an idea is marinating, the idea will sometimes develop and grow into something that I want to write. That's when I actually start writing. (Whenever I start a fic I usually know where I want it to go. The destination may ultimately change as I write, but I always have SOME end in mind.)

Most of my ideas either start as a "what if" or as a single visual/vignette. A Thousand Years started off as a "what if" (what if one of the Lambros got thrown back in time and had to figure out how to get back to his brother?) I needed to figure out how that happened, how they'd get back, and how that would affected them. The plot grew out of that. Datastream started off with the image of two bots back-to-back, their heads wired together (just as seen in Myla Xan's amazing artwork!) Why would that be needed? What problem were they trying to solve? And so on.

Interestingly, Mind, Body, and Soul started off as a "what if" (what if the Datsun/Praxians weren't brothers like how everyone writes them, but were romantically involved in a trine?) Then, with that idea in mind, I started thinking about what the story might be there... And I was consumed with an image that served as the genesis for the whole entire 300k fic: Bluestreak, collapsed to his knees before an open door in an empty apartment, completely emotionally crushed. (We eventually saw that image at the very end of chapter 20.) The whole story eventually developed around those kernels.

44. any writing advice you want to share?

Just get the words down. Like that ask from Neil Gaiman I reblogged earlier today, that's something I keep having to remind myself of. I have a tendency to go back and rewrite and rewrite and edit and rewrite the bits I've already written, instead of moving forward in the story.

Editing and polishing can happen after you've got the draft done. But if there's no draft, you have nothing to polish.

91. how has your writing style changed over the years?

I think I've definitely become more descriptive, almost to a fault. I also get lost in characters' heads, and sometimes have to pull myself out of them in order to get the story moving again.

On the one hand, it helps me understand their motivation better, and helps me "solve" character issues I might be having. On the other hand, it can grind the story to a halt.

Treading that line can be difficult for me.

what are all the (unnoted, possible future and background) pairings within the echo garden?

assuming you're trying to decide if you want to read the fic (??): there are a LOT of hinted at or possible or kind-of/maybe-there? pairings in the fic, and a lot of them are spoilers, which is why they're not in the tags. many of them are written so subtly, if you aren't aware of the pair, or don't like it, it won't register as a pair. that's done purposefully. so like... a list isn't going to do much good, because it really to a certain extent depends on you, the reader.

if you dislike fics with any of the major MTMTE canon pairings (like cygate), or any of the "generally kinda widely acknowledged by fandom even tho it wasn't explicit in the comics" pairings (like simpatico), then this isn't the story for you, because it's meant to be a sequel to the comics

almost everything other than the canon/hinted-at-in-canon pairs would be rarepairs, most of which have never featured anywhere else except in some of my other fics (like, for example, Bluestreak/Hot Spot)
