Helloo! I love reading your work, especially your comfort posts. I just wanted to make a request if you could do iwaizumi, tsukishima, ushijima, and akaashi giving comfort to the reader after they’ve had a heartbreak and have been breaking down (maybe when the character and reader are not in the same place). Thank you so much and keep up your work!
hello sweet anon!!
ty for the kind words, I’m glad to hear you enjoy my work (⌒ ‿ ⌒)
I know heartbreak comes in all shapes and sizes but I decided to do these based on a breakup heartbreak sooooo yeah
alsoooo I only made the second portion of characters to be in a different place as the reader bc I found it quite difficult to do them all like that so I hope that’s alright
I apologize in advance if any of this wasn't what you had in mind
I hope you enjoy regardless <3
(after finishing this I'm low-key disappointed in how it came out buuut this is the outcome of my writers block sooo hehe) (/^-^(^ ^*)/
•Iwaizumi, Tsukishima, Ushijima, and Akaashi Comforting a Brokenhearted Friend•
warnings: platonic relationship (best friends), mentions of cheating, heartbreak, breakups and a few curse words
genre: comfort
characters: iwaizumi, tsukishima, ushijima, + akaashi
Tumblr media
•Iwaizumi•
groggily opening his door at two in the morning to you sobbing was not exactly the way iwaizumi would have imagined starting his day
you and iwaizumi had been best friends since your first year of highschool, so it wasn't abnormal for you to pop up at his home unannounced from time to time
but this was a whole different story
the sleep had immediately been stripped from his mind as he pulled you inside and into a tight embrace
“Woah, woah, woah Y/N. What’s wrong?”
you wanted to answer him right there and then but you choked on your words, cries forming instead of any explanation
he was patient though, allowing you to cry until you ran out of tears to shed as he rubbed soft circles into your back
he had a feeling your trashy s/o was behind your breakdown
they had always left you falling apart in his arms at one point or another
he never minded comforting you but anger bubbled up inside him everytime he heard of another incident
he had always told you how you deserved to be treated better but everytime something like this occurred, your s/o had always sucked you back in with some half hearted apology
iwaizumi waited until your sobs had died down into whimpers before he slowly brought you to take a seat on his couch
he handed you a box of tissues that were sitting in the middle of the coffee table and waited until you were able to form a coherent sentence,
“T-they che-heated on m-me”
although it was flooded with hiccups and sharp inhales, iwaizumi understood exactly what you had said
he got the sudden urge to go beat the shit out of that prick but he knew his negative emotions weren’t what you needed in that moment
he pulled you into another hug, whispering apologizes and words of comfort into your ear as you cried into his chest once more
hearing the way your voice strained broke his heart and all he wanted to do was bring back that beautiful smile of yours
as your sobs died back down, he continued to sooth you until the room grew silent
iwaizumi didn’t want to make you relive what had happened that night anymore then you already had so he opted to do something to get your mind off of everything,
“Do you want to watch a movie?”
you looked up at him through puffy eyelids and nodded, appreciating just being in his company a while longer
iwa leaned forward, grabbed the remote from the table, and immediately leaned right back next to you, being too nervous to leave your side for even a second
you subconsciously snuggled into his side as he scrolled through the different titles, looking for one you both usually enjoyed watching
however, it wasn’t long until you began to drift off to sleep, the world around you fading in and out of view as your eyes opened and closed
iwaizumi noticed your tired state and smiled to himself, brushing the stray hairs that framed your face behind your ears,
“You can go to sleep Y/N, i don’t mind.”
you let out a soft yawn as you looked up at him,
“But this is your favorite godzilla movie, i can’t let you finish it on your own.”
“You watch it with me every time, i think i’ll be fine watching it by myself tonight,”
he smiled at you as he pushed your head down into his lap,
“Now go to sleep.”
you smiled to yourself as you curled up and closed your eyes, feeling iwaizumi lazily run his fingers through your hair
as he watched your drift of to sleep, he promised himself he’d never let you get hurt like that again

•Tsukishima•
you, tsukki, and yamaguchi had gone to the cafe down the street every saturday for as long as you could remember
tsukki adored their strawberry shortcake and yams loved the milkshakes they served
you on the other hand were mainly there for the company, and they may or may not have sold your favorite sweet
spending time there was apart of your weekly routine
even when you got into a relationship, that pattern didn’t change
so when a certain saturday rolled around you happily strolled down to the cafe
this saturday however, yamaguchi had extra practice for his float serve and was unable to attend
you were about to cancel but yamaguchi insisted that you two carried on the tradition by yourselves for the day, so you two agreed on meeting up and spending some time with yams later in the day
once you arrived at the cafe, you felt the immediate comfort of being in the presence of your friend
tsukishima had always brought you a sense of security and peace
as you both were enjoying your sweet treats, you heard the buzz of your phone as it viberated on the table
you look from your dessert, to your phone, to the blonde head of hair in front of you
tsukki quirked an eyebrow at you as you shurugged your shoulders, picking up your phone and watching as it illuminated in your hand
the first notification that met your eyes was a message from your s/o,
“hey, we need to talk..”
you felt your heart drop into the pit of your stomach
although you told yourself you shouldn’t jump to conclusions, that message didn’t settle right with you at all
you felt a lump grow in your throat as your shaky hands typed a reply,
“oh okay, let me call you then”
you looked up from your phone and made eye contact with tsukishima as he gave you a look of question mixed with concern
you shot him a half hearted smile as you excused yourself from the table and walked into the alley next to the cafe to make your call
although he wouldn’t admit it if asked, tsukishima was really worried about whatever was going on right now
the way your facial expressions had changed and your demeanor had shifted cause his chest to tighten
he knew something was wrong but he just didn’t know what
he didn’t want to pry or make it seem like he was too eager to comfort you but he couldn’t ignore what was going on
especially when you rounded the corner with tears running down your face, holding in sobs that threatened to escape your lips
he shot up out of his seat and walked over to you, throwing the amount of cash needed to pay for the food on the table as he did
“What the hell happened Y/N?”
averting your gaze away from tsukki, you began to whimper
noticing people beginning to grow nosey tsukishima wrapped his arm around your shoulder and began to walk back towards the alleyway
as you two came to a stop you wrapped your arms around tsukki, causing him to stiffen from the sudden contact, and cried into his shirt
he relaxed a bit as his arms found their way to your back, rubbing up and down in a soothing manner
once you calmed down you had explained that your s/o had broken up with you
they hadn’t given you a reason, only stating that they could no longer find it in themself to continue with your relationship
you couldn’t even wrap your head around the words that had met your ears from the other side of that line
you felt the tightness in your throat return as more tears dampened tsukishima’s shirt,
“Y/N it’s stupid to cry over this. They didn’t even have the decency to break up with you in person so why should you waste tears on them?”
“I know i’m sorry, i just can’t help it,”
you let out a shaky breath as you looked up at him,
“I really liked them Kei, i don’t know what i did wrong.”
he swiped away at the hair that clung to your face and he sighed,
“Idiot, you didn’t do anything wrong. I can’t tell you why they broke up with you but i know it had nothing to do with anything you did.”
he flicked your forehead before pulling you into a hug
hugs from tsukki were rare, so you didn’t let the feeling of his arms wrapped around your figure slip from your mind
although you were still in pain, you knew you wouldn’t have to go through this alone, and that was more then enough to bring a smile back to your face
Tumblr media
•Ushijima•
for as long as you and ushijima had been friends, he had never been the best at comforting others
so you had no idea why your first instinct was to call him the second you got your heartbroken
as the phone rang you contemplated hanging up and letting him know that it was just an accident but honestly, you needed to hear his voice right now,
“Hello Y/N.”
you stayed silent for a minute, attempting to calm your voice before you spoke
“Y/N, are you there?”
you took a deep breath before smiling, in hopes it would make you sound more cheerful than you were feeling in that moment
“Yeah sorry, h-hey toshi.”
“Y/N are you alright? It sounds like there’s something wrong.”
you sighed, with how observant he was it honestly wasn't a surprise that he had noticed your distress from the other side of the line
it was at this moment that you had begun to regret calling at all,
“Oh um, I guess today just hasn't been the best.”
“Would you like to talk about it?”
you smiled through the tears streaming down your face
although ushijima wasn’t exactly familiar with other people’s emotions and how to deal with them, he always tried his best to be there for you and comfort you when you were feeling down,
“T-That person I was dating b-broke up with me and I'm just sad about it. I r-really liked them and it makes me upset that things ended like this.”
ushijima went quiet hearing those words
he had heard you talk about your s/o quite a few times before and they seemed to make you very happy
it honestly hurt him that you had lost that source of happiness so suddenly and although he did not know exactly how to return the smile to your face, he knew he had to try
the radio silence on the other side of the phone gave you anxiety and you began to wonder if you had made your friend uncomfortable in any way
but before you could apologize for venting about your issues, you had been cut off,
“I apologize Y/N. I don’t really know what to say but you are a very lovely person and they are surely missing out. If you’d like, you can come over to tendou’s house and read this week’s jump with us.”
you let out a small laugh at his attempts to comfort you,
“That sounds great toshi, you sure I won't be bothering you two though?”
you heard tendou yell through the phone, letting you know not to be silly and that you’re always invited as ushijima agreed with his statement
you swiped at the tears that had stained your cheek and clutched the phone closer to your ear,
“Awesome, I’ll be there soon then.”
“Okay Y/N, we will be waiting for you.”
before your friend could end the call, you quickly spoke up,
“Toshi?”
“Yes Y/N?”
“Thank you, I feel better already.”
“You’re welcome Y/N, I care about you very much so I’m glad I can make this easier for you.”
you felt your heart swell at his words as you bid him a goodbye
although you had lost someone important to you, it wasn't the end of the world and you knew ushijima would help you understand that
Tumblr media
•Akaashi•
akaashi was always someone you knew you could come to when the world was against you
however, once you and your s/o made things official, you promised yourself that you wouldn’t bother him with any issues involving your relationship
he always assured you that you could go to him for anything but you knew that you had to deal with certain problems on your own
besides, he had his dilemmas to worry about and you most certainly didn't need to add to the pile
but you didn’t know who else to turn to when the same person you had spent months with, broke your heart
so you ended up dialing up akaashi’s number and waiting anxiously as the line connected
knowing him it wasn't a huge surprise that he had answered right away, the sound of yelling and volleyball’s slamming against the floor had met your ears,
“Hey Y/N, did you need something?”
you automatically felt guilty for forgetting he had practice at this hour, interrupting him was not what you’d intended to do,
“Ah, sorry I forgot you were still at p-practice. It’s no big deal, I can call you later about it.”
akaashi noticed the distressed tone of your voice as it shook and immediately excused himself from the gym, letting his coach know that he had a personal issue to deal with,
“No, it’s okay. We were just about to finish up anyways, Bokuto just wanted to practice his spike a bit before we left. Is something the matter?”
akaashi had been bluffing about practice almost being over but he knew you called him for a reason and he didn’t mind skipping practice for a bit to help you out
“Oh, um yeah actually, I got broken up with a little while ago. I know it’s a stupid thing to call about but it just really hurts and I didn’t know what else to do other then talk to you.”
akaashi frowned as he heard you begin to softly weep on the other side of the line
he knew how much you cared about your former s/o so he couldn’t imagine how much pain you were experiencing
he wish he was there to be with you but he knew he was stuck in practice for at least another hour,
“I’m so sorry Y/N. I can’t exactly say anything to take the pain away but just know that you’ll always have me. Things may be hard right now and I'll be here to comfort you as long as you need but don’t forget I'll also be here to help you pick yourself up when you’re ready.”
you felt some of the pain lift from his words as you attempted to stop your tears,
“T-Thank you Keiji, thank you.”
“No need to thank me Y/N. If you’re okay with it, me and bokuto can stop by after practice and we can go to the park down the street that you like. I’m sure you both would have fun.”
you laughed at his comment and smiled to yourself,
“I’d like that.”
“Alright, we’ll see you later then.”
akaashi was glad to hear the newfound smile in your voice as the call came to a close
your smile was his favorite sight after all, and he’d do his best to keep it plastered on your face as long as he was around

Tumblr media
The frozen yoghurt shop is unusually quiet today. It’s 1:32 pm and there’s only been 6 people in here. I check the containers, making sure the cubes of fruits are properly cooled. I wipe a few stray drops of yoghurt from the machine with a cloth and thoroughly rinse that too.
My co-worker, Kailo, looks up from her phone to ask me a question, “Hey, did you know that there’s a new flavour for toothpaste?”
I look at her, wildly amused. “No, I do not.”
Excitedly, she nudges up to my side and shoves her phone in my face.
“But please, enlighten me.” I deadpan, taking the phone from her. I can barely hide my disgust as I read the article. “Oh, that’s just very wrong.”
“Eh, I guess.” She shrugs one shoulder, back to scrolling through her daily newsfeed. That figures; Kailo is the kind of person that would come into work wearing the weirdest things and is still able to pull it off. She is very adventurous and likes trying new things. She told me she once tried kale ice cream and actually liked it.
The front doorbell tinkles, signalling a customer. Kailo takes her order, tapping at the computer screen. I grab a small cup and fill it with fresh frozen yoghurt, then with languid strokes, drizzle cookie sauce over the top and hand it to the customer with a napkin.
“Enjoy.” I offer a smile, handing her the yoghurt. The doorbell tinkles again and Moon Bin enters this time. He waves hi to both me and Kailo.
“Hey. Class finished?” I ask as he walks over to my side of the counter.
“Yeah,” He nods. He sighs. “I kind of need to talk to you about something.”
“Is everything okay?” I look at his expression. He briefly glances at Kailo.
“Not really.” He looks at the clock behind me. “Your shift ends at 2, right?” I nod.
“Then, I’ll just wait here for you.” He orders a medium sized yoghurt and takes his usual spot by the window at the very end of the room, like he always does when he comes here to wait for me. When I had just gotten this part time job, my manager, Sammy and Ji Ah, two other part time workers, and Kailo would always ask me if he was my boyfriend because sometimes if I worked the late night shift, he would swing by and wait for me until my shift ended. He would walk me back to campus then, making sure I safely gotten into my dorm.
They soon got used to me denying me and Moon Bin dating and stopped asking questions. Although Kailo occasionally comments on how she thinks he’s pretty hot. I teased her once about it, offering to help set her up with him and her exact answer was, “Honey, please, he’s not my type.”
I’m pretty sure she doesn’t mean it in a bad way. It’s just he’s really not her type. She usually dates really quickly and the longest I’ve ever her date was with a guy who had his own pet hedgehog. To think of it, I’m not even sure what her type is.
The two hours tick by, with a large group of sleep deprived students walking in and demanding we serve them coffee in between, until I pointed out that the cafe is next door. They eventually ordered frozen yoghurts, apparently too tired to even walk to next door. Sammy enters just in time, to take over my shift.
She clocks in on Moon Bin immediately and then gives me a knowing look.
“Honestly.” I shake my head. Sammy is the only who won’t stop pushing me and Moon Bin together. Sammy has classes with the both of us so she knows Moon Bin as well.
I clock out and grab my staff from the back. Moon Bin is already standing by the counter, waiting for me as I come out from the back. We go outside, the heat of the afternoon blasting from the ground.
“So, what’s wrong?” I ask, as we come to a bench under a shady tree. I’m still in my white cotton collar shirt which is the uniform and am sweating down my back. Moon Bin notices my discomfort.
“D'you want to go home and change first?” He asks.
“No, it’s fine, don’t worry.” I shake my head. “What’s up?”
“You know the show I have to do next Friday?” He says. I nod in response. “Yeah, that’s also the same day my parents are coming to see me.” He waits for the ball to drop.
“Oh. Oh.” I raise my eyebrows in realisation. Moon Bin’s dad doesn’t know that he is enrolled in the Performing Arts Major. His dad wasn’t really supportive of his choice but his mom covered for him and then told him to choose whatever he wanted. If they come this Friday…
“Yup.” He nods gloomily.
“Well, your performance is at night. Maybe they’ll have left by then?” I suggest.
“I…I want to tell him.” He exhales.
“What?”
“I don’t want to lie to him anymore.” He says, turning to me. “I keep having to think of answers to questions about aerospace.” He looks so positively terrified. In spite of myself, I give a small laugh.
“That’s what you told him you were studying?”
“I panicked.” He says defensively.
“Bin, I think that it’s great that you want to tell him the truth but are you sure?” I ask him.
He looks down at his fists. “Yeah. I’m sure.”
“Well, okay then,” I bump my fist at his arm. “I have your back. If there’s anything you need me to do, just tell me.” I smile at him.
We move on from this subject and talk about how rehearsals are going. He digs out the tickets from his pocket and hands them to me, one for me, the other for Sammy, my roommate and Jin Woo’s girlfriend.
“Don’t lose them. You know what, just ask Sammy to take them.” Moon Bin has zero trust in me.
I roll my eyes. “Just because that one time I lost the train tickets–”
“And we had to run all the way back because you’d lost yours and everyone had to re-buy their tickets for the later train.” He reminds me darkly.
Ignoring his words, I tell him that I’ll keep them safe no matter what. It’s his first performance with his parents there, I’m definitely not missing this for anything in the world.
*** “That will be all today. Thank you class.” Our lecturer switches off her slide and packs her laptop up all in one swift movement. Everyone else is either leaving the class or talking to their friends. I check my phone, slightly frowning. Why isn’t he replying?
I flop my bag on the desk, putting my notebook and textbook inside. I check my phone one last time before shoving it in my jacket pocket. As I walk along the hall, passing some students taping a poster on the wall, I spot Rocky and Jin Woo among the crowd.
“Hey, guys,” I catch up to them. They turn, surprised.
“Hey,” They both say, smiling.
They should know where Moon Bin is. “Do you know where Bin is?” I ask. “He didn’t come to class today. And I can’t get hold of him either.”
Rocky glances at Jin Woo before answering. “Oh, he’s probably practising again.”
“Um, see the thing is,” Jin Woo sighs. “He hasn’t stopped since 3 in the morning.”
“What?” My tone is sharp and the two guys in front of me visibly straightens up. “He hasn’t slept?”
Rocky winces. “We rehearsed last night and finished at 10. We went back to the dorm at 10:30–”
“He went out at 3 in the morning to practise by himself again.” Jin Woo explains.
“So, technically, he did sleep for about 4 hours–” Rocky stops when Jin Woo nudges him. I sigh.
“It’s his dad, isn’t it?” I look at them. They both nod slowly.
“He was really stressed out before and now he’s even more stressed than ever.” Rocky says.
“Maybe you should go talk to him. At least get him to stop for a few hours to get some rest.”
They tell me which of the building to go to and what practice room he is in. Two girls and a guy look at me suspiciously as I walk down the corridor blindly before finally giving up and asking them for directions. Standing outside the door, I can hear the thump of the music and someone’s feet moving rapidly. They don’t stop even when I knock on the door.
Moon Bin finally looks up as I enter the room. “Ae Ra.” He stops dancing. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m here to check up on you.” I say. I watch as he turns off the speaker and plops down on the floor, exhausted. I grab his towel from a chair nearby and toss it at him, landing on his head.
“Bin–” I start, sitting down in front of him. He wipes at his face, refusing to look at me.
“I know, you want me to get some rest. But the show is two days away. I can’t afford to waste any time.” He finally says, lowering his head while fidgeting with the corner of the towel.
“You’re exhausted, Bin.” I say. “Did you even eat breakfast?”
When he looks back at me, his eyes wet around the rim. “I’m just so scared.” He says. “I mean, it’s my dad. He’s never approved of my interest in performing on stage, says it’s a waste of money.
How am I going to impress him, Aera?” His voice cracks slightly. I scoot closer to him to hug him. He leans his head on my shoulder, taking a deep breath.
“You don’t have to impress him, you know?” I say softly. “Just show him what you can do. You may disagree on somethings but in the end you’re his son, he’ll love you no matter what.” I pat his hair, slick with sweat, wince a little and try to discreetly wipe it on my pants. He gives a soft chuckle.
“I can see you through the mirror.”
“You’re disgusting. Please go take a shower.” I deadpan. He laughs as we pull apart.
“Thank you. You seem to always find the right things to say.”
“What? Like asking you to take a shower?” I joke.
He chuckles and absentmindedly pecks the top of my forehead. I stare at him, startled by this out of the blue yet affectionate action. His eyes shift; contemplating something. He slowly leans in and to my surprise, I do too.
“HEY BIN–” Our lips barely touch when Rocky bursts through the door. We pull away with the urgency of a dog chasing after a cat. Rocky stares at us, speechless.
I stand up abruptly. “I have-have a, um, shift.” I say to no one in particular. “So I, yeah, um, okay, byeeee.” Shit, I sound like Jake Peralta. But there’s no time to dwell on that as I leave the room at top speed. I’m so concentrated on leaving that I almost knock down Sammy by the stairs.
“Woah, hey,” She says. “Have you seen Jin Woo?”
“Uh, um,” I clear my head, trying to think of an answer. “No.”
“Oh-kay,” She frowns. “Are you alright?”
“Me? Yeah, yeah, totally fine.” I swallow. “Listen, I gotta go. I have….a class.”
I scurry down the stairs and out of the building. I walk and walk with no actual sense of direction. Walking keeps me occupied. If I stop, I keep thinking of…that. Eventually, my legs tire out and I plop down on a bench. How did that happen? My face heats up even at just the thought of it and despite myself, I feel a bit giggly on the inside. He’s my friend! I shouldn’t be having thoughts like this.
We barely talk on the phone, our usual routine, for the next few days until the show. I’d like to say it’s mainly because he’s busy practising and I’m busy with my shifts and assignments. We do text back and forth, but avoid talking about what happened. Texting is easier, because we don’t sound awkward at all. We still sound the same, playful banter, some nagging.
“Lighten up.” Kailo hisses at me. I’m slumped behind the counter, playing with a plastic spoon. The doorbell rings and a couple of people walk in chattering. I get up from my seat and grab a cone to fill. I drizzle cranberry sauce on it and wrap a napkin around half the cone before handing it to the customer.
After giving the customer her change, Kailo turns to survey me. “What’s up with you?”
“Nothing. Assignments,” I reply automatically, back in my slump seat.
“Something happened with Moon Bin?”
I sit up, alert and suspicious. “How did you know?”
She puts up both of her hands, her eyes wide. “I didn’t. I guessed.” She says.
“Oh.” I mumble.
She looks at me. “Whatever it is, it’ll eventually work its way out.”
I wince. “I’m not so sure about this.” She moves her attention away from me when the doorbell tinkles. She urgently nudges my arm and I’m about to give her an annoyed look when I see the people standing in front of me: Moon Bin and his parents.
I scramble up, face red and unable to look at anything except for the countertop. I can feel Moon Bin’s eyes on me but I resolutely stare at the cup and cone model that shows our customers what the different cup sizes look like. I start making their orders, three cones. As I hand it over to them, I smile politely at his parents; over the five years I’ve known him, I’ve seen his mother more than his father. I surreptitiously glance at his dad’s expression, which is hard and realise he must have told him already.
As they leave to take a seat, I grab my phone. There are 5 unread messages all from him.
‘I’m having lunch with them now.’
‘Probably going to tell him now.’
‘Going to find somewhere to talk.’
'Headed to the yoghurt shop.’
'You busy?’
These were all sent before they came here.
I look at them talking by the window. It seems like Moon Bin has got everything under control, although his father doesn’t look too happy. I look worriedly in the direction of the washroom; Kailo’s been in there for a long time. As they get up to leave, I shoot a questioning glance at Moon Bin, who nods slightly at me.
I don’t really understand but it must mean that his dad is willing to give him a chance. Kailo emerges from the washroom looking pale with one hand clutching her stomach.
“Kailo! Are you okay?”
“Ohhh, I think something went wrong with my lunch.” She sits down heavily. Her expression is pained as she drinks from her water bottle.
“What did you have?” I ask.
“Sushi.” She pauses as her stomach makes a weird sound. I offer to go the pharmacy to buy some medicine but she shakes her head, saying it’s all out of her system. That doesn’t seem to be the case even after two hours, I’ve been manning the cash register and making the orders for the customers while she sits weakly behind the counter, out of sight from customers.
“Kailo, I think you need to go to a clinic.” I frown, getting her a cup of warm water. Her hair plastered to her forehead from all the cold sweat.
“But, you have to leave soon and if I do too, no one is going to be here.”
I check the time. The show starts at 7. If Ji Ah makes it here by 8, I can still make it. “I can stay until Ji Ah comes. Just go to the clinic Kailo.”
She doesn’t even bothering protesting anymore. Before leaving, she gives me an apologetic hug. I tell her to tell me when she’s at the doctors to be safe. I look at the clock. I won’t have time to go home and change now. Business is slow between dinner hours so there’s really nothing much I can do, except pray that Ji Ah arrives here as soon as possible.
8:11 p.m. I am about to scratch the walls with frustration. Where is Ji Ah? I text Sammy to check if Moon Bin, Jin Woo and Rocky has performed yet.
'Almost. Where R U???’
I sigh and shoot off a quick reply. Ji Ah rushes through the door, out of breath. “Sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry.”
“Okay, I’ve got to go, bye!” I’ve been ready ever since 7:45 so I just grab my bag and hurry out the door. Sammy comes out to meet me when I arrive at the auditorium. She grabs my hand, pulling me inside. We pass rows and rows of seats in the darkness. I glance briefly at the stage just as the three of them emerge on stage. The music starts as I take my seat, trying to catch my breath. Moon Bin’s eyes flicker towards the crowd and then spots me. He gives the smallest smile and then resumes his performance.
The three of them work in perfect harmony, moving to each beat. I look around and see his parents a few rows over. His mother looks positively proud while his dad leans back against his seat, an unreadable expression on his face. The audience gives a loud cheer when Rocky does a spin mid-air, earning a bashful smile from him.
The performance ends with the crowd hyped up. After two vocal performances and a small skit, the show ends. There’s the sound of people talking and feet shuffling as they get ready to leave. Sammy and I make our way out and manage to find our way to backstage. We find the guys, with three of their other friends, Sanha, Eun Woo and MJ already with them.
“You guys were awesome!” I say, while Sammy gives them the thumbs up.
“I honestly thought I was going to trip and fall at one point.” Rocky says.
“That’s because you almost stepped on my foot.” Jin Woo shakes his head. As they bicker on, Moon Bin’s focus shifts to behind us; his parents. He excuses himself to walk over to them. We move farther away so as to give me some privacy in all the hubbub at backstage. MJ starts showing them the video he took of them on stage.
“That’s so unflattering.” Sanha comments. He whips out his phone. “You should look at the one I took.” They argue who recorded the best video with Jin Jin exasperatedly chiming in to say at one point, “None of you are Steven Spielberg. None.” and Rocky saying, “You should’ve taken it from my left.”
I look away from their tirade as Moon Bin hugs both of his parents, who leaves and walks toward us, a look of relief on his face. “Everything okay?” I ask, as he nears. Everyone turns their attention to him.
“Yeah,” He exhales a little shakily. He gives a smile. “He doesn’t get the dancing.” We pause, unsure how to response.
“And you’re smiling because…?” Eun Woo asks.
“Because he said I could continue my major, even though he didn’t understand it.” He gives a small laugh. “He’s letting me stay on!” We cheer, hugging him all at once, ignorant to the other looks in the room.
My phone vibrates a message from Kailo who tells me she’s at home now. I see another one from her when she was at the doctors. I tell them I’m going out to make a call where it’s quieter so I can actually hear what someone is saying.
“Hey, are you feeling better?” I ask. “What did the doctor say?”
“I’m feeling sooo much better now.” Kailo’s voice, although not yet back to her normal tone was sounding much more alert than a few hours ago. “It turns I have a very weak intestine and I’m technically not allowed to eat anymore raw fish.”
“I told you, 'Fish are friends not food’.” I quote 'Finding Nemo’ to her.
“That’s just because you don’t eat raw fish.” She says. “Say that again when you’re eating battered cod with chips. Maybe then I’ll believe you.”
She yawns and I tell her to go to bed. She says she will but not before watching an episode of Kim’s Convenience. I hang up, turning to go back inside when I see Moon Bin waiting for me.
“Where are the others?” I walk up to him.
“They went to celebrate. I told them to go ahead first.” Moon Bin says.
“Oh.” Awkward silence. Not wanting to feel weird around him, I hold up my phone.
“I just got off the phone with Kailo. She was feeling unwell just now. Ate some sushi. She had to go to the doctors and there was not anyone to stay at the shop. That was why I was late to the show.”
He lets out a breath that I didn’t know he was holding. “Oh. That’s why.” He scratches his neck. “I thought you weren’t going to come.”
“Why would you think–” I pause as realisation hits me. “Oh.”
“Is she feeling better?” I look up at him, confused, then realise he means Kailo.
“Yeah. She’s okay now.” I nod. There’s another pause where neither of us says anything, then as if he can’t stand it, he says, “Should we talk about what happened the other day?”
I bite the inside of my cheek. “Yeah, I think we should.”
We walk around, finding some place to sit, heading towards the campus park. Not for the first time ever, I marvel at the size of this entire university. It’s like a small village could literally just live here. We walk along the path, lined with small grey pebbles and small lights installed on the ground, so that it looks like one of those airplane runways.
“So, I guess I should apologise first.” Moon Bin says, as we take a seat on one of the park benches.
I open my mouth to protest but he stops me. “Just–let me finish.
What happened the other day. I shouldn’t have done it. I was feeling helpless and you were there as a friend and I shouldn’t have kissed you,” He continues. “That wasn’t how I…” He trails off.
“You what?” I ask, catching his hesitation.
“It wasn’t how I…,” He scratches his neck again, an action he does when he’s embarrassed. “…imagined I would kiss you. Not in that situation.”
I stare at him dumbly, too stunned to speak. There’s so many parts to his explanation that needs more explaining.
“I-I….” I swallow. “Um, okay.”
He lets me take my time, albeit the concerned look on his face is kind of endearing. “Moon Bin, what do you mean it was how you imagined?”
“Oh. That.” He says, as if he hadn’t thought of explaining that part to me. “Um, see, I kind of, really like you.” He fixes his eyes on mine. I think I can fully comprehend what the phrase 'heart beating against ribcage like a freaking earthquake’.
“Well,” I find my voice again. “In what situation would you have wanted to…kiss me?”
He gives the cutest/ most bashful smile ever and leans in to peck me on my lips. “Something like this?”
In spite of myself, I smile, feeling giddy. “Could you do that again?”
He smiles, leaning in again but this time I do too. This kiss lasts longer than the former and when it ends, he gently kisses my forehead. “Thank you.” He chuckles softly that my heart does a small skip.
“For what?” I laugh, even if it isn’t that funny.
“Just.” He shrugs. “Thank you.”
“You know, if you’re trying to be all mysterious and romantic like in dramas and stuff, it really isn’t going to work on me, because I won’t understand a thing you’re doing.” I joke, smiling.
You just never know when you’re going to open your eyes and fall for someone who’s been by your side this entire time.

“Uh oh, Wolf Daddy has a shot at the title!” I squealed, elbowing Baron in the side. “That’s amazing!”
“Yeah, yeah,” he waved me off, stilling my elbow with his hand.
“Is Wolf Daddy grumpy today?” I asked, pouting up at him.
“I’m tired, is all. Gotta go get ready for this match tonight,” he explained. I studied his face, cocking my head to the side.
“You would tell me, your best friend, if something were wrong, right?” My face, creased with worry, relaxed when a slow smile slid onto his face.
“Yes, I would tell you, my best friend, if something were wrong. I’m just tired, I promise. And I have to get ready for this match. I’ll catch you after?” he asked.
“No, I was just gonna go ahead to the hotel. Leave Wolf Daddy here alone.” I rolled my eyes, smiling back at him. “Yes, you’ll catch me after. Go, do what you need to do.”
I watched as he walked away, down the hallway to his locker room. “Oh, honey,” Nikki sighed, stepping up next to me.
I jumped, turning to face her. “What?”
“It’s so obvious you two like each other,” she explained, hands on her hips.
“Ha, okay,” I laughed, shoving her lightly. “Good joke.”
“I’m serious! It’s obvious! Here, hold on. Naomi!” she called, waving Naomi over to the two of us.
“What’s up?” Naomi asked, signature smile on her face. It was contagious, and I found myself smiling despite the conversation at hand.
“Isn’t it obvious that our friend here,” Nikki said, gesturing to me, “is like, in love with Baron? And vice versa?”
“Uh, duh,” Naomi laughed, flipping her hair over her shoulder. “Why, did one of them finally act on it?”
“Woah, woah, woah,” I said, smile finally leaving my face. “I am not in love with him. We’re friends. That’s all.”
“Someone’s pretty defensive…” Naomi said, raising an eyebrow in my direction.
“I can get John to talk to him for you!” Nikki offered, bouncing on the balls of her feet.
“Except for the fact he and John have a match tonight. If John went to him talking about me and him, Baron would think it was a tactic to sabotage him in his match tonight. And I know you guys don’t know what dealing with grumpy Baron is like, but he would be grumpy and a handful to deal with,” I replied.
“Notice she didn’t say she wouldn’t be okay with John talking to him about her, though. Just not right now before their match,” Naomi pointed out, laughing with Nikki.
“Okay, you guys are the worst, that’s definitely not what I meant!” I explained. “I just was telling you guys that it would be a bad idea. But I don’t need John talking to him about me.”
“Well, I’m always just a text away,” Nikki said, wiggling her phone in my direction.
“Thanks, but no thanks. Trust me, I think I would know if I were in love with my best friend. Or if he were in love with me,” I laughed, waving off her offer.
“Sure, sure,” Naomi replied, making eye contact with Nikki.
Nikki laughed, turning to me. “Well we have to go get ready for our match. See you later?”
“Definitely,” I promised, waving as the two of them walked away.
I knew Baron wasn’t in love with me. It’s not like I hadn’t thought about it before, about him maybe wanting to be more than just my best friend. I knew it wasn’t likely to happen, so I just pushed my feelings aside and made the most out of having him as my best friend. But thinking about it, hearing Nikki and Naomi talk about it so candidly, it was weird. My heart thumped strangely in my chest and I sighed, walking to catering to sit and watch the matches tonight. At least I didn’t have a match of my own. Who knows what being this distracted would do to my in-ring performance.
“So, Wolf Daddy, what are your plans now that you’re main eventing Smackdown with John Cena? Are you too famous for me now?” I asked, punching the button in the elevator to take us to our floor in the hotel.
“No, I’m not too famous for you,” Baron replied, rolling his eyes at me. “Are you gonna stop saying that any time soon?”
The elevator door opened and Baron left, quickly walking down the hallway. I followed after him, laughing. “Oh no. Poor grumpy Wolf Daddy.” Baron took a deep breath as he stopped outside his room, unlocking his door. “Does Wolf Daddy need a nap?”
Baron stepped into his room, grabbing my arm and pulling me with him. “You just don’t get it do you?” he growled, pressing me against his closed door. His hips were pressed against mine, his lips brushing against my neck as he spoke.
“Get what?” I asked, yelping when he nipped at my neck, tongue following to soothe the sting.
“You call me Wolf Daddy all the time,” he muttered, trailing sloppy, open mouthed kisses down my neck. “But you haven’t even seen Wolf Daddy yet.”
“Then show me,” I said simply. Baron stilled, pulling back to look at me. His stare was hard and insistent and I blushed, biting my lip. Growling again, he ground his hips into mine, mouth claiming mine in a bruising kiss. I whimpered into the kiss, my hands moving to the hem of his shirt, tugging insistently on it.
Baron took the hint, tearing his shirt over his head before turning his attention to my tank top. In the next moment, my top and bra were thrown somewhere behind Baron. My hands tangled in the bun at the nape of his neck when he moved to take a nipple in his mouth, his fingers plucking at the other. I threw my head back against the door, tugging at Baron’s hair, crying out when his teeth brushed against my nipple. I could feel him smile against my skin as he moved slowly up my chest, leaving a stinging bite on the swell of my breast as he moved to my mouth. His kiss was rough as he pulled me away from the door, walking me backwards to the bed.
He pushed me back onto the bed, fingers hooking into the waistband of my leggings and underwear, pulling them down before removing his own pants. I couldn’t help the whimper that escaped my lips when his dick came into view, hard and thick and the perfect length. Baron shot me a wolfish grin, climbing onto the bed with me.
“See something you like?” he asked, stroking his cock as he towered over me on his legs. I couldn’t answer, could only nod as I watched his hand move quickly over his length. “I didn’t hear you,” he smirked, tilting his head to the side.
“Y-yes,” I answered, reaching out for him.
Baron stopped stroking himself, capturing both my wrists in one hand and planting my arms above my head. “Yes what?”
“Yes daddy,” I breathed, arching my body up towards his, chasing some sort of friction.
“Good girl,” he cooed, taking his hands off my wrists with a glance that ordered me to keep them there. His mouth busied itself on my neck again while one of his hands trailed down to my clit before sliding lower to my entrance, sliding two fingers into me. My hips bucked up into his hand and he smiled against my skin, pumping his fingers into me while his thumb circled my clit.
“Fuck, Baron,” I moaned, rolling my hips against his hand.
Baron’s fingers stilled, his mouth pulled away from my neck so he could look at me. “Who?”
“Wolf Daddy,” I corrected myself, rolling my eyes.
“Did you just roll your eyes at me?” he asked, eyes narrowed. I opened my mouth to say something, anything, when he removed his fingers from me completely. I whined, fully prepared to beg for him to touch me again when his hips aligned with mine and he thrust into me hard and fast.
I cried out, throwing my head back against the pillows as Baron stilled, for a moment, to let me adjust. I moved my hips against his and he started moving hard and fast against me. “Fuck,” I groaned, moving my hands to pull on his hair.
“Someone’s not being a good girl…” Baron muttered, thrusts even harsher as he reprimanded me, shoving my hands back above my head. His hips kept up that harsh pace, and soon I could feel myself close, so close, to coming. Baron could tell too, because he shook his head at me, hips slowing slightly. “You don’t get to come, not yet.”
“Please,” I begged, trying to coax him into moving his hips faster.
“You were a bad girl,” he reminded me, emphasizing his point with a rough thrust. “You rolled your eyes at Daddy, moved when he told you not to, and you keep forgetting just who you’re talking to…” he trailed off, circling his hips.
“Daddy, please,” I whimpered, bucking against him. “I promise I’ll be a good girl from now on.”
“You promise?” he repeated, finally speeding his hips up again. I nodded furiously, arching off the bed when Baron slid one of his hands down to my clit, ghosting over it. “Then come for me, baby. I’m right behind you,” he grunted, pressing down harder. I came with a shout, legs shaking violently. Baron came right after me, biting down on my shoulder as he did.
“I-” I began, breathing hard as he rolled over next to me.
“I’ve wanted to do that for a long time,” he admitted, grabbing my hand.
“I wish you had done it earlier,” I said, breathing out a laugh. I heard him chuckle next to me, hands wrapping around my waist.
The next morning, I ran down to the hotel lobby to meet Nikki for our usual coffee date. Much of the roster was milling about the lobby as well, save for a few of them, Baron included. I had left him in his room to meet Nikki on time, rushing to get ready. As Nikki and I sat, talking about what we wanted to do before making it to the arena, Baron finally came down to the lobby.
“Oh, look. It’s your best friend. The one you’re not in love with,” Nikki laughed, rolling her eyes.
I laughed at her, throwing my hair over my shoulder. When Baron passed, I called out to him. “Hey Wolf Daddy!”
I could see him smile from the corner of his mouth before turning, walking backwards so he could face me. “Hey Wolf Mama.” I smiled back at him as he winked at me, turning back around to make his way to Corey’s table.
“You bitch! Naomi and I were right!” Nikki squealed, banging on the table.
“Can you like, relax?” I asked, hiding my face in my cup of coffee.
“Oh, no. Where’s Naomi when you need her? She has to know!” Nikki said, grabbing her phone and pulling up Naomi’s contact information. “When she gets here you get to tell us all about it,” Nikki told me, pointing a perfectly manicured finger in my direction.
“Fair enough,” I conceded, smiling into my coffee as Nikki rambled into the phone to Naomi.
