Part 2/2 Kenma Kozume X Reader

Summary: Kenma will!! He will get your number.. or something.

Warnings/notes:intrusive thoughts, anxiety, I'm really sorry if this is dookie, tumblr deleted my progress twice, I gave up a little bit 😹pls lmk if I missed any warnings I'm not good at identifying them!!

It had been two whole days since Kenma last saw you.

As he begrudgingly made his way home after a long day of practice, along with Kuroo, he theorized that you might be avoiding him.

But no, that couldn't possibly be the case..why would you not show up to class just to avoid him?

He was playing tricks on himself again, making himself worry for no reason at all.

"Did ya get her number??" Kuroo questioned.

"..I didn't get a chance. She wasn't here." He reluctantly replied.

"What? Seriously?"

"Mhm."

"Ha! Maybe she hates you or something!!" Kuroo joked, Kenma didn't find it so funny.

Kuroo's words shot through his body, leaving him paralyzed, or well, that's what it felt like, but he was still moving. His eyes shot open, and he grumbled quietly.

Kuroo glanced at the shorter setter, finding him distraught.

"Hey, it was a joke!" He cleared, realizing his effect.

"I know.."

That night, Kenma got home, and he hoped he would see you the next day, back in your seat.

Attempt number one: Fail

Kenma sat in his seat, staring at the screen of his Nintendo. It was not lit. The colors were not reflected on his face. He wasn't playing. He was thinking.

If she misses today, too, then she definitely hates me.

His intrusive thoughts were demanding.

"Good morning, Kenma!" Your sweet voice snapped him from his horrid thoughts.

"Kenma?"

"Oh, hello." He finally responded, only taking a second to glance at you.

"What's up?? Did you miss me?" She teased, sitting to his left. That wasn't her seat, but it wasn't class time yet, so she supposed it was okay.

Kenma clicked the POWER button of his Nintendo. He could finally play again. Your presence eased him.

He didn't answer your question.

"Kenmaaa~," she called, a giggle escaping her lips, clouding the boy's thought process.

"Aren't colds the worst? I can't believe I missed out on two whole days.." She mentioned, leaving Kenma relieved. His breathing felt easier.

"Mhm. Yeah, they suck." He answered. The bright colors of his game reflected onto his face his fingers moved quickly and with ease as he clicked the buttons and rolled the black joystick.

"Do you ever get colds? I feel like you would get them often." She stuck her head closer, taking a peak at his game while she spoke.

"Oh, I do, actually. It really sucks. I guess I'm prone to them or something."

You hummed in response, focusing on the screen in his hands. You thought he was really good at video games.

Kenma suddenly got an uncomfortable reminder that he was supposed to ask for your number.

Well, he didn't have to. But it would be nice to have it. It was only the process of getting it that stumped him. How would he go about it?

He wasn't made for these sorts of situations. That much was evident. There was also the chance that you didn't even want to give him your number. What, then? It would be awkward.

...

Then again, if you hated him for asking, it would hurt, but at least he wouldn't have to worry about it anymore.

That's what he had to live by in order to have a chance. A singular, minuscule chance.

With you?

But..not yet. He just wasn't brave enough.

Attempt number two: Not close enough.

"Kenmaa"

"Kenma?"

His head lifted, by the time you called out his name for a second time.

It was nice.. waking up to your voice.

He lifted his head from the desk it rested on.

"You fell asleep. Again." You stated, watching the sleepy boy wake up and rub his face before turning his attention to you.

God, why does he look so attractive when he's just waking up..

This is what you thought every single time you had to wake the sleeping boy up.

When his eyes adjusted to the lights and your face, he noticed your arm was stretched out to him.

"Here." You said. You held his book bag in your hand. Yours strapped onto your shoulder.

"Oh, thank you." He said, lifting his body from the desk before taking the bag from you ny the strap.

"It's club time! Shall we go?" You grinned. He nodded and hummed in agreement.

"Volleyball, right?" You wondered, glancing at him as the two of you exited the classroom.

"Yeah. What do you have?" That was one of the first times kenma mustered up the courage to ask you a question about yourself.

"I have [club name]!"

"Hm. That actually makes sense." He responded, a smile creeping onto his lips.

"What's that supposed to mean..?"

"Nothing."

You laughed.

As the two of you made your ways through the emty and emptier halls, Kenma realized it was over.

There was no way he could ask for your number now...

He should just try again tomorrow.. when he comes up with a plan.

He just wasn't brave enough..

Attempt three: win, win!

Kenma spent all of practice hoping to come up with a plan.

"Kenma, you're slower than usual." He hears the voice of his upperclassmen, yaku state.

"Sorry.." he replies, hiding behind his hair.

The short third year gives Kuroo, who was close by, a look.

Being the captain and concerned for his younger friend, Kuroo called for a five minute break.

Kenma, along with his teammates, headed for the water bottles.

When he finally got his hands on his own bottle, he made his way to a corner of the gym where he usually played on his phone until break was over.

"Kenma. Did you get it?" Kuroo asks. He was already at the corner, waiting for the second year.

"What? Oh.." Kenma didn't give a direct answer. He only held onto his bottle and stared at the floor.

"..did she show up?" The raven haired male crossed his arms, wishing for a good update.

"She did.. but I didn't get a chance. I didn't know how to ask."

Kuroo sighed.

"She didn't show up for the past few days, right?"

Kenma looked up at the captain, confused.

"She didn't." He replied anyway.

"Okay, so how about you ask her if she needs notes? Then, offer to take her number so you can send them?" Kuroo suggested. He also hoped this was a good plan. He didn't have much experience with asking girls for their numbers, actually..

"Um.." Kenma thought that was a good idea actually. He thought he would have to use that excuse the next time he saw you.

Hopefully, you hadn't gotten the notes from a different classmate already.

He was about to say something when suddenly, he was caught completely off guard.

It was you, right at the door. You were talking with Yaku, and you looked lost.

Kenma was absolutely mortified.

What the hell??

What are you doing here? What?? What???

Kuroo didn't fail to catch the sudden shift in his friends expression. He followed the setters eyes to you.

What really pushed kenma over the edge was the moment yaku looked around, spotted kenma, lifted his arm to point a finger at him, and then said something to you.

The second year immediately averted his eyes. He did his best to act nonchalant, like he hadn't seen you.

You aren't there if he can't see you..

"Kenma!" He had no choice but to look up. You were heading his way, you book bag strapped to your shoulder like before.

"Kenma! I'm so sorry! I messed up!"

Sorry? Wait. What?

You stopped right in front of him, cheeks burning out of embarrassment. An upperclassmen was watching too. You were super embarrassed.

"Um.. I accidentally swapped our bags..I'm really sorry!" You bowed your head apologetically.

"Oh..that's okay." Kenma answered, stunned.

"So.. can I have mine back?" You wondered, straightening your back and lifting your head to face him.

"Oh, yeah.. it's over here." He didn't wait for you to react before quickly making his way over to a nearby bench.

You turned to the tall third year who had been standing there and gave a quick bow rigjt before speedwalking to catch up with your classmate.

"Again, I'm really sorry.." You repeated.

"It's okay, really." He said.

His mind was racing. He said he'd ask you the next time he saw you.. did he manifest this or something??

Oh crap..

Is he brave enough to do it now..?

No, no way.

Kenma closed his eyes, turned away from you, and took a deep breath, knowing he'd probably never do it. He picked up the book bag and turned to hand it over. He felt absolutely defeated.

He was a coward.

"Thank you, kenma. Here's yours." You smiled gingerly, taking the bag and handling over his.

"Yeah, no problem." He glanced at you for a second.

"Um..Kenma?" You spoke.

He looked at you.

"So.. I haven't been here the past few days.. I was told I missed a lot." You began, a flip switched inside of the young setter.

"Could you possibly lend me some notes.. if you took any, that is." You scratched your cheek, looking off to the side.

Now kenma stared at you.

You opened up a path. An opportunity.

"I'm kind of busy right now."

"Oh..thats okay I can just get them from someone else-"

"I can send them to you later..?" He quickly added, not letting you finish. He was not letting you take this opportunity when he just got it.

Your eyes lit up and you looked at him.

"Really?!"

"Yeah, if you wanna give me your number..or something."

Mission: Success!

The Deep Cut Deep Dive: Overthinking the Deep Cut Dynamic in Excruciating Detail (An essay by @TerminatorBuns)

This was originally posted on Reddit, but I want to share with Tumblr to see if Tumblr likes this format more. Also because I'm close to finishing a second essay about Deep Cut, focusing on Frye.

Deep Cut is great, I love them, and their relationship dynamic lives rent free in my head. The one thing Nintendo did for us this time is drop story mode lore for Deep Cut on Day 1, and it has fleshed out their relationship dynamic in IMMENSE detail, enough to rival what we know about Off the Hook. How much detail are we talking about, you might ask? A FUCKING LOT it turns out! We're talking about Tableturf secrets, we're talking about Frye's feet, we're talking about the implications of Big Man's breakfast on the course of his artistic development, this shit goes DEEP. I don't know who needs to hear this but Splatoon idol lore is the meatiest part of Splatoon world building and an absolutely BONKERS ride. I want to take you through that journey if you haven't been on it before, or just need more fuel for your lore headcanons.

I wish this was a bit more academic but I didn't have the time and patience to cite everything with game screenshots, so I'm assuming whoever is reading this has already played the story mode and has a rough idea of what I'm talking about. Spoilers obviously. At the very least I hope this will be an entertaining rant, feel free to yell at me in comments about stuff I got wrong, I welcome the discourse.

1. A Bunch of Theatre Nerds

Deep Cut primarily differs from Off the Hook in one way: they do not specialize in music, but in THEATRE. Each of the two humanoid idols are designed from the ground up to represent two different forms of traditional Japanese theatre, and it ties deeply into their dual roles in the game. The important takeaway is that each idol excels in one art, but struggles at the other, and we will explore what this means. Let's talk about Shiver and Frye; Big Man is a special case, we'll have to put a pin in him and come back to that.

2. Shiver is Rakugo

Shiver is a performer of Rakugo, or Japanese seated story telling. Deep Cut's day job as newscasters is represented as a Rakugo performance, and Shiver brings a fan and a little table to the job, both common props in Rakugo. Shiver exhibits all the qualities of a strong Rakugo artist, she sits in a Seiza kneeling position with excellent posture, and delivers the news with wit and poise. She has excellent, sharp facial expressions that she directs straight at the audience, she uses her fan to gesture in ways to attract attention, and she punctuates her delivery by tapping her fan against her table to create little sound cues for a listener. Her approach to drawing an audience to her words is multilayered and complex, and her vocal skills as a storyteller seems to parallel her strong vocals when singing (not that you can tell how good her diction is since she speaks in warbly Squid-Gibberish).

Frye is much less skilled by contrast, for a number of reasons. She doesn't even attempt to sit in a Seiza stance, and in fact can barely sit still without attempting to wiggle off her cushion. From a general speaking perspective, Frye fails to establish eye contact with the audience because she's always staring at the other two performers, whoever is speaking at the time. She also lacks all of Shiver's propwork and has no intentionality in her gestures. She compensates for her weak delivery with goofy, high energy antics that are charming in her own way, and this is what earned Frye a reputation as a fidgety gremlin baby compared to the cool, sophisticated Shiver. Before launch that was everyone's impression of Frye, but the arrival of story mode dropped a massive bomb on us that flips the dynamic COMPLETELY UPSIDE DOWN. Feet are involved, let's discuss.

3. Frye is Kabuki

Story mode showed us Deep Cut as a hilarious team rocket like villain team, but the bigger takeaway is that we finally see Frye in her preferred art form: Kabuki stage performance. Frye's entire villain persona is a stage act, she thrives as a stage villain and has the charisma and skills to back it up. I should note that Frye doesn't practice pure Kabuki with all of its strict discipline, but Frye isn't full, or even partially Japanese herself, since she's very much South East Asian in design. She has her own, maybe(?) SEA inspired take on stage performance, but some of her stances in the later sections of story mode are unmistakably Kabuki, it's clear where she draws inspiration for her style from.

Villain Frye is amazing, she's confident and charismatic, and genuinely menacing in demeanor before her fight. She has a professional code of conduct as a villain: she states her intentions clearly, paying respect to the player before her boss fight and offering to negotiate before fighting. She's the only one who correctly uses her smoke bomb correctly to make a dramatic exit, and she names all of her meticulously choreographed attack patterns like a proper anime villain.

Conversely, story mode is where we finally see Shiver struggle. Her villain performance is fun, yet inconsistent: she's unnecessarily melodramatic and overacts every scene, and she throws petty insults at you before breaking character to just try to run you over with a shark-bike. She fumbles her smoke bomb and becomes increasingly frustrated everytime you knock her down, unlike Frye who doesn't break character and recovers immediately after she is downed. Shiver still makes a fun, campy comedy relief villain, but she visibly loses the confidence and dignity she had as a Rakugo performer, highlighting how much she is out of her element. In Shiver's defense, she does manage to pull off that absurd sleight of hand in her intro where she switches her mask for her fan while delivering the spiciest piercing gaze, while Frye just chucks her mask off screen instead. Once again Shiver's dexterity in her face and her hands are her strongest tools.

4. Frye's feet

I feel like an absolute lunatic writing this section, but I assure you there is genuinely a need to discuss this topic in length. Forget Frye's forehead for a second, her FEET are easily her most important assets. Frye uniquely emotes with her feet more than any other idol the same way Shiver emotes with her hands, except Shiver's hands don't have enough lore significance to fill a whole section. Frye's feet DO. I would go so far as to say Frye's feet are one of the most SIGNIFICANT visual tools we have for contextualizing the difference between Frye and Shiver's entire professional art forms. Strap in.

For starters, Frye's footwork is MONSTROUSLY powerful. Take a look at her during her boss fight, she's playing an instrument, and hopping up and down on an Octostomp like it's a goddamn circus ball. It doesn't take a single eel hit to knock her off balance, you have to send her ENTIRE eel army at her before you can knock her down! I think the eels inside her Octostomp are moving it, so in theory she's not piloting it with pure foot power, but also she kicks it onto its side before she starts blowing into her flute?!! I have no idea, I can barely comprehend what is happening here.

At the same time, her feet fully solidifies her ties to Kabuki. Kabuki is an art form done without shoes, and since she performs her villain persona outdoors, she doesn't wear shoes anywhere. Kabuki is also a full body art form which requires precision footwork, and she has that in spades. This is in stark contrast to Shiver, whose seated Rakugo performance has no footwork whatsoever. Shiver's footwork is comparatively weak as a result.

Don't get me wrong, Shiver has enough footwork to dance in blocky Geisha shoes (I've been told they are Okobo shoes), but it's in a stage performance capacity where Shiver's footwork completely falls apart. Shiver doesn't know how to express body language through footwork, so she DOESN'T. Shiver stands completely in place during her villain performance and tries to compensate with her upper body expressions, but this lets Frye completely dominate her in stage presence. In most scenes with both idols, Frye physically takes up more of the screen through footwork: she positions herself one or more steps TOWARDS the audience and literally looks BIGGER as a result. Frye's full body poses are also wide and faces the audience/camera at an angle that maximizes her surface area to attract visual interest, which is a core Kabuki concept that, again, requires intentional footwork and positioning. Shiver poses with her feet together and her body turned to the side, so her screen presence is minimal every single time. In fact, she uses her feet so little in her villain performance that she's the one member of Deep Cut that fights on a vehicle and has no mobility of her own!

At the same time, Frye's feet are double edged swords and her greatest weaknesses. Take a look at Frye while she is newscasting, what is she doing in her default pose? Yeah that's right, HOLDING HER FEET. Her Kabuki background is so used to full body acting that she's restless sitting still, and she's holding down her feet because they literally want to EXIT THE PREMISES. Every once in a while she fails to contain herself and kicks off in every direction, threatening to kick a hole in Big Man's TV and boot Shiver's table off the stage. Frye's feet are a MENACE.

5. Big Man and Amateurism

Remember at the beginning we put a pin in Big Man? His arms are getting tired so we're letting him down from the wall now.

So how does Big Man fit into this dynamic? Nintendo confirmed that he is their composer, so he provides a music background to the team whereas the other two are theatre nerds. Big Man is unique in that his talents are largely background work, unlike our other two idols who specialize in stage work. However, that makes him a bit of an outlier in terms of theatrical performance. He follows Shiver and Frye around to both their performances but doesn't have much proficiency in either one. As a newscaster he stumbles over his words often, and his villain persona is just his regular persona but slightly angrier. He doesn't really dance and sing particularly well either, there's a sequence in the Anarchy Rainbow choreography where Big Man nearly smacks the other two idols out of clumsiness. Big Man is an odd duck in the Deep Cut trio, and yet, this is a central aspect of his design and his appeal, it's kind of the point.

The central theme of the Deep Cut dynamic is Amateurism, and this ties into Splatoon 3's core theme of Chaos. Each humanoid idol is a master at a specific performance art, and an amateur at the other art form, but the important part is that they show up anyways to clown around, and that in and of itself adds a distinct flavor to the performance despite their individual weaknesses. The chaos of Splatoon 3 is the contrast between a professional artist on a stage next to two absolute goobers, and the chaotic, yet dynamic performance that results from three artists of different skill levels colliding. In that sense, Big Man is the true amateur who shows up to everything in an effort to contribute, and his bumbling inexperience is extremely lovable. This is in direct contrast to the Off the Hook dynamic, as both members of Off the Hook are musically talented and completely aligned in their artistic interests, while the members of Deep Cut have differing interests but will always show up for each other, like absolute BROS.

The Big Man discussion does not end here, however. Big Man's sunken scroll depicts him as a member of the prestigious Manta Clan, with the fanciest dining set while the text describes the Manta Clan's meticulous breakfast habits. Shiver and Frye's sunken scrolls, in contrast, describe the ancient artistic history that both of them descend from. Jumping into story theories at this point, I would personally guess that Big Man comes from a different economic background than the other two. Splatsville appears to have the aesthetics of a rural city after a rapid expansion, many of the buildings are cluttered and old looking in contrast to some infrastructure that looks very new. If we assume that Shiver and Frye's families have lived in this area for quite some time, it would be quite likely that they were poor or middle class, partially explaining their concern for the underprivileged citizens of Splatsville. Big Man on the other hand looks like he comes from the richest, snobbiest kind of high society family. He's a fancy fancy boy.

The more important takeaway is this: Big Man seems to come from a family background that prioritizes formality and rules over personal expression. From this we can make an educated guess that Big Man started his theatrical journey LATER IN LIFE. Shiver and Frye could easily have been practicing stage performance from early childhood through their family history, but Big Man's family traditions doesn't lend itself well to open self expression, and whatever artistic ability he might have gained through his family does not translate well to the stage! Big Man's exposure to theatre would have happened outside of his family, possibly after he gained some amount of independence from them. I'd hazard a guess that his friendship with Frye and Shiver might even be the starting point of his stage career!

Shiver and Frye are letting Big Man, maybe even encouraging him, to perform with them on stage despite him being a relative newcomer to theatre. There's relatively little judgement, they too understand that all artists have been amateurs at some point in their journey, and continue to be amateurs at other art forms even after mastering their own. My boy is doing his absolute best to perform alongside his theatrical seniors and it's so precious. This dynamic is wholesome beyond my wildest expectations, I am HEALED.

6. Tableturf and Artistic Priorities

I added this section last because I only discovered this information after I had completed my original draft, and Nintendo is actively fucking with me at this point. Each of the three idols have personality traits that come through in their TABLETURF dialogue, of all places, and it's kind of the final piece that makes the Deep Cut dynamic click for me. Through their tableturf dialogue we learn a lot about each member's priorities as an artist, enough for us to explore in detail.

Shiver is an audience focused artist. Her focus in tableturf is centered on you, the opponent, and she makes it a matter of personal pride to compete against you and she takes her victories and losses very personally. No matter the outcome she requests a rematch, because her priority is the opponent's experience, as she seeks the approval of her audience. Her eye contact and graceful mannerisms are as sharp as ever up close as she is on stage. This plays well with the second aspect of her artistry, which is the fact that she has a Geisha aesthetic in addition to her Rakugo specialty. Hospitality and direct conversational interactions are a part of both jobs, even if she secretly has a bit of an ego and barely resists gloating if she wins.

Big man is a self-focused artist. He comes off as awkward and shy in a tableturf match, and we get to see a little bit of the bubbling insecurity behind Big Man's jolly smile. Big man's lack of stage performance abilities translates into his social interactions as well, and he uses self deprecation to downplay his abilities and expects to lose, being pleasantly surprised if he wins. What Big Man is primarily looking for is a kind of self-acceptance, as an amateur artist he wants to hone his abilities to a point that he can be confident in himself, and he shows the same anxiety in his social interactions and tableturf games. No matter if he wins or loses, his primary focus is on his own performance, and he mostly comments on whether or not he has met his own expectations. Every small victory seems to do great things for his self esteem and you just want this boy to be happy, let him win at card games.

Frye's tableturf mannerisms is the most interesting, as it turns out, and is actually the reason I even wrote this section (my Frye bias strikes again). The most important detail is that she fails to make eye contact with the player, AGAIN, just like when she's newscasting! At face value this is VERY strange: in the news room she is clearly staring at whoever's talking, but in a direct conversation with you, why does she still not look at you? I've also seen people complaining that she's one of the only players that insults the player after a win and makes no attempt to console the player, and that is completely true. What isn't very obvious is the additional layer of meaning in the same win dialogue that really clarifies her priorities in the moment, and this is a CRUCIAL piece of Frye's characterization. When she wins her first instinct is to tell SHIVER and BIG MAN about her victory.

Remember that Kabuki is a stage performance with multiple artists in multiple roles. Rakugo can be performed solo, and Big Man seems to compose solo as well, but Frye's Kabuki actively requires the participation of other artists, it is a collaborative performancr. This brings us to the realization that Frye is a uniquely TEAM focused artist amongst Deep Cut: her top priority is her bandmates, at all times! Frye NEEDS Deep Cut, her personal style of theatre doesn't even work without friends, and she's fixated on maintaining her friend group as a result. Frye is able to focus on an audience when she is actively doing her job as a Kabuki artist, but any other time she starts spacing out because she simply spends all her energy thinking about ways to impress her bandmates! She comes off as dismissive to the player, because her mind is literally wandering to her band friends, even when they are not around! Deep Cut means the world to Frye in a way that isn't as meaningful for her friends, and she's made herself into the glue that holds this friend group together; Frye is very much the heart of the Deep Cut trio. Frye's dedication to her friends is the actual CUTEST detail in this entire game, I CANNOT believe they hid this information in tableturf. Why is Nintendo like this?!!

7. Conclusion

Splatoon's world building is extremely art centric, and the lore they write for their fictional artists is some of their best, most detailed work. Looking at Splatoon lore through an artistic lens is extremely rewarding because there are secrets and details everywhere. I've obsessed over Off the Hook's similarly complicated character dynamic in the past, and Deep Cut is really making me relive those memories like that dude from Ratatouille, it's hitting me HARD.

In some ways even this write up is only a surface reading, I'm no expert on traditional Japanese theatre or SEA culture and I have no idea how many details can be uncovered by an actual expert. I also have no music background and the Splatoon team hides fricking lore in the fricking OST and I cannot begin to unpack any of that. I fully expect that there's more details I've missed or have gotten wrong, but I hope I've at least established how deep this rabbit hole goes, and how much fun it is to dig through Splatoon lore instead of getting enough sleep.

Anyways the next time someone asks me why Frye is best girl I'm gonna have 3000 words of documentation to show them.

8. Miscellaneous notes

- What is going on with Shiver's shoes, they don't have straps, how do they stay on? Are they glued to her socks? Does she have to take the sock part off to remove the shoe? She has to take her shoes off to perform on a tatami mat, but we can't see what's going on back there feet wise since she has a Rakugo table in front. Is her lower body even rendered back there? I draw fan art, I need to know this stuff.

- Shiver likes to take jabs at Big Man sometimes that he struggles to respond to, being a less experienced conversationalist and just socially awkward in general. It's not necessarily malicious, however, Shiver could just be giving him opportunities to practice his conversation skills and keep him in the discussion. Plus he's very cute when flustered, I dunno that Shiver can resist prodding him.

- Big man is differently abled in a very literal sense. He has no hands or feet with which to emote, he's trying his best to express himself with his flappy fins. He barely has functional vocal cords, just going AY and making warbling fish noises all the time. Big Man's body isn't great at singing or dancing, but it is very good at things that Manta Rays are traditionally good at. He mentions being able to filter feed, and his mobility is remarkably good in swim form. Big Man is also a pretty dangerous predator unless you have the sensor upgrade.

- Shiver's family situation is kind of a mystery, how do they have a tradition of Shark taming if Octarian society is a militaristic dictatorship run by DJ Octavio? I suspect that Shiver was never a part of his army and there are Octarians living outside of his rule. She's definitely a Splatlands native, members of Octavio's Octo Canyon army should have been able to identify Callie and Marie easily.

- Shiver's aesthetic shifts to a violent Bōsōzoku biker gang aesthetic when she boards Master Mega, since he's outfitted with motorcycle parts and wears those bad boy sunglasses. It's a sharp contrast to her polite Geisha presentation, and so is her entire villain persona. This is what I mean when I say Shiver's performance style is inconsistent, but Shiver's two-faced presentation is also super fun to watch and kind of her entire appeal. Nintendo Direct Thoughts! Part 4 The Best Part

Where do I even start with this? I am going to try my best to sound coherent in this post but just as a warning there may be a lot of screaming like this AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

This isn't in any particular order but it kinda is lol. Save the best for last.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe

Okay so I am a horrible Kirby fan, but in my defense I am more of a casual player compared to others. I love me some Kirby, mmmmm. My favorite form is I guess the Link form with his Link hat and master sword just destroying enemies. And man talk about his sucking abilities and blowing too. Can I say that on here?? Eh it is tumblr after all lol. I think I am going to pick this up for sure, maybe not right away because you know I am broke and all but eventually I will. I still need to download the demo...I'll do that right now actually. It's downloading...alright good to go! My understanding is that this is a remake of the Wii game. It's not a remaster because there are additional things added. Overall the graphics look great and Kirby is always a good time so I don't think people will be disappointed.

Metroid Prime Remastered

I really wish I was more into the Metroid series. Alien monsters and space, what more could you want. I still haven’t made my way through Metroid Dread I am ashamed to say. It has been sitting on my shelf just staring at me, judging. Maybe some day, maybe some day. But this looks amazing and it’s been long awaited so I’m happy it’s finally come out and looking forward to seeing what lies ahead for this IP.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

I mean what’s there to say? It’s fucking Zelda!!! My mouth hung open the entire time and it felt like I was in a trance and when the teaser trailer ended I just wanted more. Now Breath of the Wild was incredible. I still remember playing for the first time. I was a little late to game, I bought my first switch two years after it had already come out and the first game I purchased with it was Breath of the Wild. I was so nervous to boot up the game because I had already seen plenty of game play and saw how so many of the enemies could be a little difficult to beat along with learning a whole other control system. Loved every minute of it and I’m sure this will be no different. This game is going to be on a whole other level and I can’t wait. Only a few more months to wait. Now I’ve heard a lot about people not too happy with the price. It’s going to be a $70 game. I am a little surprised it’s that much, but also not surprised at the same time. Like I said earlier “it’s fucking Zelda,” and you and I both know people are going to pay whatever Daddy Nintendo wants. I have yet to pre order it and I know I should soon. But overall this is my most anticipated game of the year, but obviously behind Pokémon. That is if a new game comes out holiday 2023. Maybe a let’s go johto perhaps?

Fantasy Life: The Girl Who Steals Time

I own a new 3DS (Pokémon Edition) and I love that thing to death. The 3DS catalog was fantastic, so many hidden gems. FANTASY LIFE was one of them. So much so I bought that game twice. The first time I bought it was a physical copy from Gamestop. Now I can’t remember if I bought it brand new or used, nonetheless I was able to find it after failing to find it anywhere else. I stumbled upon a random YouTube review video and knew I had to get it. Now how would I describe it? It’s an rpg but so much more than that. This is why I know the gaming company Level-5. It’s this tiny open world fantasy game filled with dragons and knights and magic. You can customize your own character and you chose what life you want to live. Anything from being a chef to being a paladin. You fight monsters and dragons and it’s just fantastic! There is so much to do and the best part is that you can master all 12 of the life paths available to you. So maybe you want to take a break from being a magician well how about trying your hands at being an angler. You can be known as a legend in each path and there is a dlc where you can basically become a god. Now the second time I bought it was me being foolish. I didn’t care for it the first time I played. And I ended up selling it back to GameStop. A few months later I saw another review about it and thought “I’m stupid, I need to really give this a chance.” And from that moment I couldn’t put it down and I completed every life and every task possible. I loved this game so much and when they announced that a fantasy life 2 was coming I was ecstatic. But it was too good to be true. It was going to be a mobile game and only being released in Japan. So almost 10 years later, they’re finally releasing a new game. Now I’m still trying to come to terms with this game being it’s own thing. From the direct trailer it looks a lot different from the original and maybe not being the open world game I was hoping for. I am still going to give it a chance and hopefully it’ll live up to his predecessor. *fingers crossed*

Game Boy and Game Boy Advance NS Online

I cried, I literally cried on my way to work and screamed in the car. So much was leading up to this and I’m so happy it’s finally true. Now I won’t go into each game announced for the launch, but I do want to talk about the games I’m excited for.

So first some honorable mentions

Super Mario Land 2- 6 Golden Coins

So I love its predecessor. Played it over 100 times. This game maybe once or twice, but looking forward to really sinking my teeth into it.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

I have played this maybe once but never got too far. I love the remake and if you haven’t already checked it out, you should.

Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare

Never heard of it, but looks interesting. Will have to check it out eventually.

Wario Land 3

This game pissed me off so much as a kid, so enough said.

Kirby’s Dream Land

We love a queen who loves food.

Tetris

The game that started it all for me. I am a Nintendo handheld fan boy through and through. I own the og Game boy, the game boy that my dad gifted me when I was like 6 or 7. And with that game boy came Tetris. I could entertain myself for hours, trying to get that top score. And the music, oh the music. Nothing like it now. I’m looking forward to wasting time away playing this like I’m 6 all over again.

Pokémon Trading Card Game

Yes! Only played it twice and failed hard so I want to give it another go. Too bad we have to wait some time.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

I lost my absolute shit when they announced it. This is by far my favorite Zelda game of all time. I don’t know, there’s just something about it. The art style, the vibrant colors, the story and just the overall creativity is AMAZING! I got emotional when I booted it up for the first time and I don't know I may just cry again as I go further along in my journey. I’ve never had the opportunity to own this game in physical form so this will have to do for now. The cartridge alone is going for like $100. But I will get it…grrrr.

So there we go, my thoughts on the last Nintendo Direct. Took 4 separate posts lol. Maybe next time I’ll just comment on the things I liked. Oh well. This was a nice little challenge for me because I’ve never really done anything like this. It feels good. Whether people read this or not, still enjoyable. my best (and worst) acomplishment

I was young, and wanted to read some fanfic. But I had no phone, no tablet, no computer. Nothing but my Nintendo 3ds. So I gave up and settled for games and time killing, then i saw it....the web browser.

"No..." i thought to myself, it's got to be impossible, but I tried. I pulled up the browser, and there it was, the search bar. I stared at it for a moment, then typed in those fateful words... "Wattpad"

and it worked. I pulled up wattpad, I read hours worth of fanfic that night, then I started expanding my horizons, and I reached tumblr. I managed to properly run tumblr on a god damn 3ds browser. I couldn't log in or do anything like that, but I succeeded, and that's what mattered.

I also managed to accses numerous fics and quizzes on quotev.

-queen Liz kicks the bucket (bonus points if she's already dead but they won't officially say she is until February)

-the Mario movie is a box office failure, and Chris Pratt has his legacy ruined.

-Facebook / meta has its servers hacked and people lose access to their virtual house that they spent thousands on.

-China wins the most gold at the winter Olympics. some guy on fox claims they had an unfair advantage because they were communist (accidents mixes up his transphobic and anti-communist arguments). a meme is started that communism makes you good at sports

-the year overall turns out better than the past four years combined, and it's joked that burning down the gavle yule goat broke the curse.

-summer heatwave causes damage for infrastructure and some republican politicians houses literally being to melt. they then suddenly begin to care about climate change.

-spacex and tesla lose most of their stock after elon musk retweets traced furry porn. news articles make a bigger deal about the image being stolen then they do about the subject matter of the image, which is the correct response to that situation

-Nintendo adds Gameboy games to the switch online service. it's sold as a separate package like the n64 games, and costs twice as much as the n64. they also release a stupid fucking controller that's just a Gameboy with a non-functioning screen. they charge $50 for it.

-an indie fan game that was part of a weekend game jam wins game of the year, because everything else was shit.

-breath of the wild sequel gets delayed.

-reddit sells out and becomes all "family friendly" or whatever. tumblr and discord are the only places left where you can say the word "kill" without censoring it to "unalive".

-microscopic life is discovered on an asteroid in our solar system by ISRO / India Space Program. racist space bros get mad that spacex didn't discover it first.

-elon musk uses DNA modification or whatever to make the nft monkey real.

-Disney anounces their 24th first LGBT character.

-star wars anounces a live action clone wars show focusing on the clones, staring Temuera Morrison as 80% of the cast.

Not too long ago, I made a post where, on a day where I had been surging with Bi Energy, expressed interest in wanting a taur boyfriend. At the time, I wasn't really sure it would be anything more than an idea, just something I could think about every now and then. But the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to take that extra step and make an OC that would also serve as a romantic F/O.

Here on tumblr, you don't see too much representation of self-shippers pairing themselves with their own OCs, though it certainly is something a lot of those in the self-shipping community do if posts like this are any indication! And with that being said, to all of my friends and those in the self-ship community (Like @stephysalcido, @minxxikuo and @sakura-nyah), it is with great pleasure that I finally introduce you to...

My taur boyfriend, Miles 🧡🤍🧡

Full Name: Miles Whitley Stephenson Gender: Male Date of Birth: May 14th, 1999 Age: Twenty-One Height: 8'5" Species: Centaur

Appearance: Miles' upper human half is relatively lean in terms of weight. He has short, blonde hair, bright green eyes, freckles, and wears glasses. Miles is most commonly seen wearing a baggy bermuda gray hoodie with a small gay flag button pinned to its front. Underneath it, he usually wears a t-shirt of a bright color, typically orange as it is his favorite color. Miles' centaur half is greatly reminiscent of a palomino horse, with an extraordinarily large, bushy tail that is identical in color to his hair.

Overview: Miles is best described as a socially awkward and passive centaur. Given his introverted nature, he is prone to speaking quietly and can sometimes be very short on words unless he is speaking to somebody who he confides his trust in. ive actually forgotten the original context for your asking but this is the big fella itself and i've probably had some form of it since i first started playing BotW

i like a fantasy dipped in history but i also like streamlined design. it makes me a nightmare DM for myself, but it makes me appreciate Nintendo's decision to have NO entirely useless NPCs in BotW and keep especially inhabited places concise but fleshed out, as opposed to populating a fully sized city with clone zombie models you cant interact with at all [knowing look]

i believe its a given understanding that in reality while Hyrule was decimated and beyond during the Calamity and years after, it isnt actually as sparse as it looks to be, especially given the would-be functional populations for the other races'. additionally to have people do specialised work they need to be fed by OTHER people. subsistence farmers will of course have their own material culture but people with more time on their hands will use that time to do things other than survive. this also correlates to time = value because someone else has to feed the person giving their time but thats another kettle of fish for bartering with ... then there's the likelihood of demand for whatever work is offered by the non-farming person, and at what LEVEL that demand reaches. unless to a certain degree there's a lot of people who can choose to not make their own bread, there wont be bakers. generally speaking there's probably gonna be more weavers than carpenters and more carpenters than chandlers.

if its too small to read or too maths for you to bother, tldr; those sheets there have industry listings guaranteed to exist Post-Calamity, canonical means of food production, notes on crop yields and livestock practices under ideal conditions (yarhar farm wisdom im a stealth bumpkin), the actual calculable size of Hyrule (if im not a dumbdumb its about the size of Belgium), calorific intake in grain for the average post-subsistence individual, unstated but certainly canon crops like flax, and a count i did on my mapping survey of all the animals & NPCs physically in Hyrule. Yeah. im so cool.

there's also a few sheets noting inhabited spaces pre-calamity but i may correlate that with how Age of Calamity went if its to be believed, which i believe in part at least setting-wise it IS to some degree realistic to its source, but moving on

for the most part i did it as a brain warm up and practice, but i have drawn several expanded worldbuilding pieces based on it so far, theyre just mostly not finished and/or uploaded yet lmao

the closest i have done is a 3 stage expansion map of Castle Town where i knuckled down and "surveyed" the topography of the ruins like i was doing a building platform survey in the real world using those pithy pre-Calamity cutscenes from BotW main as context .... the final like-to-like map is actually disturbingly similar to what we got in Age of Calamity but i'll need to dig it out to see for sure ... plus a couple versions where Castle Town is Bigger. I've not decided on whether to do a final version where the calculated kilometre-to-map version is taken as true or whether its as it is in a larger field yet.

and then there's the other result of the mapping survey which is where the info for colour and trees and some ruins comes from for the megamap project i've been staring down for a year now (its not abandoned life just happened) but thats a whole other kettle of fish

Johann Chu's phone rang in the middle of the night. "I have an unusual request but an important one. I need you to go to the house on the corner of Sycamore and Avalon. There you will find the key under the pot. Go inside, and you'll find three children. You must watch over those children for 24 hours. After the task is completed, leave. Caesar Gattuso is lead, you are to assist him."

Johann Chu stared at his phone for a moment. "Understood."

He drove up to the house and found Caesar Gattuso already there, in his dark glasses, looking like he was ready for a glamour shot in designer jeans and sneakers. Chu zihang arrived in his usual button down and slacks.

"Yo, long time no see." Caesar grinned rakishly at him.

"Do you know anything about the children?

"Young, about 6 years old... so... I think now would be a good time to introduce them." Caesar had driven here in a white van and opened the back.

"How many video game consoles did you bring?" Johann said.

"All of them! Here help me cart them in."

Johann Chu grabbed a Nintendo 64 and made his way to the one story ranch house. The key was under the pot and he opened it up to three kids sitting in front of a television. They all looked up at Chu Zihang at once. Zihang stared down at him silently and then set down the game console.

Caesar barged in with the rest and said, "Okay kids, who's ready for some video games?"

The kids bounced up and rushed over to Caesar who had no only brought games but also other TVs. He plopped right next to a game of Mario Kart. While the children were having fun, it wasn't long before Caesar was deliberately persecuting his rival Chu Zihang on the tracks. This rivalry extended to Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat and soon the two men were playing more with each other while the other 3 children ate.

"They're kinda crazy." Said one, while the other two nodded.

That's Alicia

Sussie

This is Vy's fault, almost entirely. I would've lived my life in peace not realizing if it weren't for her. Jokes aside, Sussie is very... unique. Not in a bad way, of course - she's just. Well. Sussie. A cloudcuckoolander that works with her own set of rules, incredibly off putting but entirely harmless*. And in her own words, "Sussie likes all the things in the world"

Bonus:

Elmo

Alicia is kind and very friendly once you get to know her. She may seem a bit simple at first, as if you were talking to a kid, but you she's genuinely very thoughtful. Elmo is a sweet natured all-loving hero and while Alicia is significantly more off kilter and intimidating at a glance, they're both good eggs

Stitch

Stitch is a loveable blue not-dog alien who also is probably a war criminal or at the very least a living weapon. His character arc of learning to appreciate his ohana even if it goes against his creational directives is incredibly sweet. Alicia is end of the movie Stitch, handcuffed and ready to be arrested, only asking to be allowed to say goodbye to his family. Though, vibe-wise, she's has epilogue Stitch down pat. Domestic antics that are just a bit out of this world.

The Jabberwocky

The jabberwocky is Alicia's little lizard companion if you didn't know! The nonsense poem after the same name was another inspiration to Alicia's general nonsensical attitude, and the incredibly creepy art that pops up whenever you search for it inspired that, ever so slight hair raising tension one feels whenever she stares at you for too long. As if, something menacing was lurking right under the surface.... but its probably nothing right? After all, the jabberwocky doesn't exist.....c:

Astolfo

The man, the myth, the legend, while I'm aware of Astolfo's reputation in the wider internet, he's genuinely a very charming character. He's upbeat and airheadedly optimistic but that only makes him moments of sobering self-awareness all the more uplifting. There's this certainty to how he speaks, that even if things go wrong, somehow, it'll be okay - and Alicia takes after this. Evaporation of Sanity they both may have, it adds to the appeal probably. After all, there's nothing quite as charming as sincerity.

Joker

The joker is Alicia's card suite, and primary inspiration for her aside from the jabberwocky. She's technically twisted from the joker as well, along with her hair being a reference to a jester's hat - hence the bells. Though if you get her in old maid I'm sure you can still find a way to be a winner Sei Shonagon

Miss Nintendo Switch herself, Sei is a cheerful, bubbly lass who doesn't care much for court proceedings aside from the potential drama. Despite her, violently zoomer energy (like she would have a tiktok, that's not up for debate) Sei - for all her irreverence and insensitivity - is a surprisingly old soul once she takes a minute to breathe. Her dedication to her own values, her stalwart beliefs, and her incredibly perceptiveness of people's issues betray a much wiser character beyond her natural goofball demeanor, and Alicia takes after this splendidly. Though admittedly, Alicia leans on the clownitude even harder than Sei does.

Atiq

Mung Daal

Don't look at me like that. Atiq takes after Mung Daal's fits of rage specifically, both of them have tendencies to just straight up contort in rage. Think of every time he has to talk to Endive, that's Atiq.

Cagliostro

Cagli is the self-proclaimed cutest girl in the skies and has enough confidence to back up on her claims (as well as firepower, if you do manage to annoy her to that extent). Atiq is, incredibly vain, maybe not as vain as Cagli but it is a close thing, and both of them don't hold back on the snark when need be. Confident, poised, and being both aware enough to be the tsukkomi and vain enough to be the bokke, Atiq takes after alchemy's founder well

Arashi

Did I say vanity because I meant vanity. While Atiq is not nearly as bubbly - or as generally pleasant to be around - as Arashi, both of them have vanity in spades. Arashi's tendencies to daydream over an impossible romance also carries over with Atiq's unfortunate crush on the himbo in RSA he used to have as a lab partner in middle school. Neither of them are afraid to flaunt their looks and femininity, often to humorous extents.

Miss Piggy

Again, don't look at me like that. Miss Piggy is an icon, she's tough, she's gorgeous, and she will break your spinal cord if you say otherwise. Despite Atiq's rather willowy appearance, he is not scared in the slightest to dig his heels into people who insult him - at least when they're not looking. Atiq may not be as bold as Miss Piggy will ever be, that utmost confidence in himself (usually) and his moodswingy nature definitely put them in the same ball park.

Yzma

Yzma is who he was originally twisted from, the sly former adviser to the emperor who seeks the throne - as well as the antagonist in the second best Di/sney movie don't @ me. He was specifically twisted from the scrapped villain song "Snuff out the Light", where Yzma wanted eternal beauty - while Atiq wants to reverse the effects of his illness for his vanity's sake. Yzma's a fun character, she's scheming and mean but incredibly funny and you never really feel bad when bad things happen to her cause she kinda deserves it but she never stays down for long, that's the vibe I want for Atiq more than anything.

Charlotte

I think Charlotte gets a bad rep for being a two-faced golddigger, I mean she definitely is that but it doesn't make her a bad person she's just being realistic. She's cunning but not unkind, and is genuinely loyal to the people she cares for. Also she makes incredibly great faces when she's pissed. Atiq definitely has shades of this, and while he and Charlotte are both prickly they're good people when you get down to it. It's just in Atiq's case. It's a long way down

Rin Tohsaka

Okay I'm gonna be real while actual canon Rin does work for this, the one that gave inspiration to Atiq was the one from UBW Abridged. Powerful, beautiful, and completely flippant to people who are not her, she's hot shit and she knows it - and definitely not afraid to show it. Despite her general impertinence, Rin shows a surprising amount of generosity and kindness when the chips are down even if she does still complain about it. Personality-wise I'd say Atiq takes after her the most

Carmilla

Carmilla is a lot of things, a murderer, a sadist, questionably of vampiric nature - but most of all she's fun. While initially in the lore she was more of a cruel dominatrix more than anything, Atiq takes after her post-character development. She's still a sadist (that one part in a summer event she ran over Liz three times in a single drive openly admitting to trying to kill her was just great) but there's just something familiar to her, maybe even friendly if you wanted to be brave.

Author’s Notes: This is the first thing I’ve written in a while and it feels good to be back! I’m experimenting with post formatting as well, and I like the little squares (Tumblr won’t let me have my square bullet points :( ). I haven’t fully read all of Lily’s scenes but I have skimmed and done enough research that I think this is in-character enough. If it isn’t, who cares? She needs more content, please and thank you. I will make that content. I have something else with her in it coming soon.

Warnings: I don’t know, nothing too in-depth/graphic. Vague mentions of trauma and talking it out because you should support your partner in a relationship. Since she's a flirtatious character, there’s some of that, but this is still SFW. Also, she’s a vampire, so general vampire stuff. It’s fine, this probably wasn’t even needed. Also just way too many emojis, I need to calm down-

Being in a relationship with Lily Chen:

(This was supposed to be written as a neutral thing as to whether the reader was a member of the shadow world or a mundane, but it turned into strictly mundane. Sorry about that).

You probably met at an establishment that caters to mundanes and the shadow world.

Has a preference for women but is into dating anyone, so get ready.

She’s with some of the other clan members and locks onto you and the others are like “She’s at it again.”

Lays the charm on HEAVY. Slides up to you and is like “👀👀”.

Whether you’re super flustered or not, she’ll keep doing it.

She never comes off as creepy though, a real casanova in the ways of romance~

She’s on official business for the Alliance, picking something up from the little shop you’re both at (a drag because she can’t go out with you right now 🙄) but she hands you her phone with a smirk so you can put your number in.

You might think she would’ve taken yours to do some flirty nonsense like putting her name in as something… flirty, but she wanted to see what you would put your name in as (Uno Reverse).

Made dead sure there was nothing you could see beside the number input screen though, not even notifications. She doesn’t trust like that.

You put a little heart after your name and smile at her and she lowkey freaks out. This feels different what’s going on, oh no-

Her phone case is a blinged out vampire smile Clary gave her as a gag gift. She isn’t being subtle (this should’ve been your first clue, but nah).

So she and the others show up at the Alliance meeting (It’s at Magnus and Alec’s today because they’re dealing with warlock business) and she looks kind of uncomfortable? Not uncomfortable in the usual way, just a little blushy and nervous.

Alec is like “You good?” and she’s like “MMMM YEAH?? I THINK??”

She isn’t IN LOVE right away but it does feel different from when she usually picks up hotties 😉.

The only thing she mentions about it during the meeting is a quick “Yeah I saw some cutie before we got here 😎” because if we only do surface level emotions we don’t have to discuss our actual feelings nice one Chen-

It doesn’t work that well. Sometimes she can pull the hiding stuff off but today is not her day.

Elliott and Jacob are looking at each other like “??” because Lily’s usually joking around and not taking anything seriously during smaller meetings like this. Alec is staring at her trying to figure out what’s wrong because he’s way too oblivious for this, help him.

Magnus KNOWS. He’s sipping on tea and raising an eyebrow at her and Lily notices and glares at him because he always gives her THAT LOOK like he knows her and Lily doesn’t vibe with it-

(Magnus wants to be a better support system for her, but he isn’t going to poke that bear. She’ll come to him when she wants, if ever. He’s everyone’s dad.)

She gets back in her groove by the end of the meeting, it’s like 2 in the morning now and she pulls out her phone and texts you.

“Hey, u up?”

She’s good at flirting but also sucks at it at the same time.

You text back immediately. Don’t ask me what you were doing the pretty girl with the cool hair just texted you it’s GO TIME.

While ignoring the implications of that type of message, you text back “Yeah what’s up.”

So this breaks her. She honestly wasn’t expecting a text back right away and we’re back to square one. Stay cool Lily, stay cool.

After 5 minutes of staring at the phone on her end and you waiting for a response (a bit impatiently because it’s 2 AM) she responds “When are you free? I wanna get to know you as soon as possible 😘”

“Is that so? Well tomorrow night should work, pick me up at 9?”

Congrats, you unknowingly played her again. She’s off her mojo today.

“Of course 😉. I’m looking forward to it~” Not off her mojo enough to not be cheeky though.

You just barely smile and give the nerd your address. She better tell you what you’re doing before then though (You want to dress smart and also aren’t trying to get murdered)

You both end up talking throughout the day (Well, your day. She’s supposed to be sleeping) and you figure out where you’re going.

Earlier, she was literally breaking down over where to take you.

“Is going to a club to cliche? What counts as trashy? Will they want something more intimate or casual? Taki’s? Is Taki’s good?”

Elliott’s just standing there, watching her and waiting for his booty call to show up.

She may be good with flirting and casual hook-ups but relationships? Genuine, honest relationships? That about scares her right back into living.

She wants this to go well, to maybe lead to something more, and that makes her nervous.

Anyway she ends up taking you to a really casual but classy run by a nice couple (of Downworlders).

It’s really nice and fun, typical first date “get-to-know-you” type questions. Stuff she can come up with while still being guarded.

You can already tell by the way she treats the staff and owners that she’s a good girl.

(She was a waitress, she knows the pain.)

She walks you up to your door at the end of the date and you turn to her and tell her you had a good time and maybe… maybe if she did too, you could do this again.

Then you go inside.

She stands there in silence for a few minutes then skips back to the car she “borrowed” and speeds off to go brag about how well it went to Jacob because his last date ended up with the girl crying.

Magnus has many cars. Magnus knows Lily took one of his cars.

Ok just imagine getting more steady with her because I need to stop the set up and actually do what the title says:

She’s literally an amazing girlfriend.

Jokes around a lot but does a pretty good job at seeing when things need to be serious or if you’re uncomfortable with anything.

RESPECTFUL. SHE KNOWS WHAT IT’S LIKE TO DISRESPECT AND BE DISRESPECTED BUT NOT WITH YOU!! NEVER!!

One night, she asked to come into your house. Which, mind you, she’s done before, but she had this look in her eyes like she needed to tell you something important.

That was the night she told you everything about the shadow world.

“You aren’t supposed to do that!” She does NOT care.

Because she genuinely feels bad hiding it from you if you’re going to go steady + the unknowing danger you can be put in if you’re with her.

She talked about it with Alec, he says he’ll handle it if anyone gives you trouble.

They already went through it with Simon, they got this.

She talks a lot about you to Alec and that’s how he knew you were important.

No matter how you react, she knows what to say to make everything fine.

The first time she took you to the Dumort you were pretty amazed. Like, c’mon. Your girlfriend did all of this. She shows you around and while you’re busy being amazed by the decor she’s side-eyeing anyone who tries to get out of place.

The other vampires show you a good time though, it’s great.

Now to explore my favorite headcanon: Lily’s a secret nerd.

She’s not as much of a nerd as Simon or Clary but she’s still with it.

Granny is hip with the kids you know.

Another thing I know is- she absolutely kills at Dead by Daylight.

If you don’t know what that is; PVP survival game.

She’s a fair but absolutely ruthless killer.

Tries to get you to play, if you don’t want to try, at least watch it makes her happy.

Has max leveled all the killers, doesn’t play survivor, if she ever let’s Simon know she plays she makes him cry.

Also, plays a lot of Nintendo games.

Got Animal Crossing: New Horizons the second it came out and that and DBD are like all she does when she’s free.

Absolutely the person to do the arm yawn thing during movies and laugh at horror movies.

Into pop culture, but doesn’t know ALL pop culture, so introduce her to stuff, she has an eternity to enjoy it.

This is getting kind of disjointed so end of Nerd!Lily for now.

Like I said, she’s a charmer- So if you’re in good standing with your parents and introduce them to her, she’ll make a stunning first impression.

It’s important to her so no funny business.

Some funny business she’s a little comedian.

Speaking of little, there’s a good chance you’ll be the taller one in the relationship.

She’s only 5 foot but don’t try to do the armrest thing she bites, literally.

It’s canon she’s polyamorous so if you’re down for it, she is too. If not, that’s also fine.

Just in all aspects, she’s down and flexible for most things if you’re comfortable.

Is really smart and knowledgeable, but no one can know everything so if there’s an aspect of you she doesn’t know a lot about, she’ll research it and let you explain it yourself if you choose.

Never change yourself. She loves and respects you as you are.

You’ve been on every date imaginable at this point.

Aquarium where she bought a huge shark (she bought you something too but she wanted that shark with all the passion in her tiny body).

She has an old projector so you can have private movie dates.

Elliott tries to sneak in. Lily yells at him to get out. Elliott gets out.

She likes planning them but you take her out sometimes too.

You both even went to Build-A-Bear one time and she did the whole bear ritual thing. Vibes with kids, so she wasn’t embarrassed or anything.

Kisses the plush heart you put in your bear aw.

Ok now to get into some more serious/angsty ones.

Has very vivid dreams. Not good when your dreams are usually nightmares.

She appreciates it if you wake her up and hold her (she likes being held regardless but it’s especially true in this situation).

Doesn’t usually like to talk about it.

You need to work with her to open up about things. Like REALLY work.

Feels bad if she ever gets snippy but she doesn’t like feeling cornered or pushed.

But she has A LOT of trauma and baggage that she deals with in unhealthy ways.

It happens eventually though, and it’s a really important moment in your relationship.

Obviously, will do the same for you. She’s good at giving advice.

Sometimes she’s really sad about never being able to have kids herself and sometimes is so thankful she can’t, because while she loves kids and is good with them, she’s scared she’ll mess up her own somehow.

Doesn't even know if she'd adopt because then she knows she took this kid away from having a better home than with her (even if it's all false and she would be an amazing parent).

Same with being a vampire. She flip-flops on how she feels about it.

Struggles with depression and it got even worse after Raphael died, so just support her with it.

I know she smokes, but she drinks a ton as well. Not even spiked blood, just normal alcohol because she feels a thrill in testing how much it takes to have some effect. It's frightening.

Misses her mom, like a lot. Many of her crying fits are over it.

It’s why she’s more susceptible to woman authority/mentor figures than men.

Hates her dad. She wishes she was the one to kill him after she got out of the brothel, but she couldn’t track him down in the few months she stayed in Hong Kong.

Really insecure and hates showing it. Always afraid you’ll leave her alone and she despises she thinks that way.

I’m getting too sad. Roll out the last ones.

She may have a lot of sad memories, but she has a lot of happy ones too.

In all fairness, she doesn’t have the best memory, and although she really tries not to, she forgets a lot of stuff. Don't get too mad.

A really good driver. A fast driver, but a good one.

Takes you on motorcycle rides and one time she drove up the side of a bridge and almost gave you a heart attack.

Talks to her bike like it’s a horse. It’s semi-alive in a way, which both freaks you out and fascinates you.

Also good at roller skating/rollerblading and skateboarding.

Um,,, going back to biting; if you’re down with it she’ll take blood from you. In… many scenarios (you probably get what I’m talking about huehue).

Made you sign one of the consent forms as a joke but not really-

Smokes a lot but is respectful enough to control it around you. You have human lungs, regardless of if you smoke or not. Can't be damaging those.

Help her dye her hair and do her makeup! It’s bonding! She can’t see herself in a mirror!

Exquisite music taste like ugh 👌👌👌

Pretty good dancer too.

The girlfriend who hypes you UP. Wolf whistles included. You’re perfect to her and anyone who disagrees with that gets the knife🔪.

Seriously, she'll fight and probably kill for you (something to probably discuss. Like more in-depth than that specific scenario.)

She likes to style things. Your room/house, you, your car. Get decorated.

She’s into nicknames and prefers “babe” and “baby” in a relationship.

Brings you trinkets constantly she’s like a bird.

“Babe look at this cool rock I found.”

Surprisingly, doesn't have tattoos. YET.

Matching tattoos?? Maybe.

She has piercings, though, and will get more. Come with her and she'll let you pick out a charm.

Does that stupid "ahaha" f-boy meme thing constantly. If you don't know what I'm talking about you're lucky.

Is eternally 19, acts like it.

Party hard baby.

Gets you involved in her political life and responsibilities; she is an important figure after all.

Was kind of nervous her loved ones wouldn’t like you. Irrational; of course they love you.

A pretty decent artist. She likes drawing you :).

Likes to take pictures and likes to send pictures so just be ready.

She's a big fan of karaoke and I'm sorry but you'll absolutely, 100% get dominated. She didn't come here to mess around, she has 80's songs on standby.

She's like a cat- fast and flexible. It's fun until it looks like she's broken herself.

She really likes your voice and talking to you.. which means you'll get hit up at midnight if you aren't with her. She just really, really loves you but please figure out a sleep schedule.

Has a lot of money. You're kind of concerned where she gets it from.

But that just means she can treat you 👏. Vacations to wherever you want baby.

Overall, it’s a very good, fun and healthy relationship. You teach each other things and make a ton of memories together.

Isn’t really looking forward to having to face your death if you don’t become immortal but hahaha we’re done with angst headcanons for now-
