Do you think people will get sick of seeing and hearing about Taylor again? I'm afraid that things go around in circles and once again people will hate on Taylor because everyone else is, so they'll jump on the bandwagon...🙄
i kinda assume they will at some point. at two different concerts i went to this month i heard people complain about how she and her music are bordering on oversaturation already. since i am an optimist i don’t assume it will be quite a 2016 situation, but i can totally see the ‘here is why taylor is overhyped’ articles returning and casual fans losing interest based on stuff like that. i guess only time will tell. popular opinion is always something that can change from one day to another 🤷‍♀️

Abbott 2.22 Reactions:
I can’t believe we’ve reached the finale. 😭 I’m not ready to be without Abbott for a while.
“I don’t know how to leave this conversation.” - Gregory Eddie repeating something I think to myself every single day.
“All thirteen essential vitamins.” Snsjdjsjsjsjs, I love him.
Night at the Museum!!!
“I take all of your recommendations seriously. I want to know why you like stuff.” If someone ever said this to me, I’d probably marry them right then and there.
Melissa’s baseball bat that she can’t sleep without. Actually, I’m going to go feral about that detail!!! Her hypervigilance. A way to defend herself always has to be within reach.
MEL FIXING THE BLANKET. CALLING BARB YOUTHFUL. WW DELULUS STAY WINNING.
ANSNDNDN, waiting for the bell. What does Barb have in her bag?!?
Maurice!! I love him. The way he delivers his lines is so funny.
Janine and the talking head about not wanting to be selfish. The break in her voice. It makes me think about the fact that she knows what it’s like to have grown up with a selfish person, and so she’s probably terrified to ever be selfish in her own life. She doesn’t distinguish between being a remorselessly selfish person and doing one selfish thing.
Janine shutting Gregory out instead of communicating. :(
Mel having beef with the tour guide ANAJSNSJSJDJ. GOD. I love you.
That jumpsuit that Ava is wearing is impeccable. My God.
AVA ALIEN TRUTHER. BARBARA SHIELDING THE KIDS WKWKDJSJSJ.
Watching all these kids play is so lovely.
“You seem completely unaffected by the cutest thing I’ve taught a child.” Lmfao.
Gregory wanting to stay in Philly for the summer because of Janine.
Barbara needing to be in a private room!!
Ava Night Shyamalan NQJDNDWKKWIWDJSJ.
“That’s the name she remembers?” AKQJQKWJSNSJ. HELP ME.
“It’s no wonder that your dad is a landscaper with the way that you beat around the bush.” I love Jacob being the biggest Teddie supporter. 😭 He’s also dropping some incredibly good relationship advice.
BRO HUG BETWEEN JACOB AND GREGORY. I’M EMO. THEY’VE COME SO FAR.
Ava looking out for Teddie too by pairing Janine and Gregory up. ;w;
“All the time. My grandma called me selfish this morning.” ANWKWKOQJDDJ.
I GET TO CROSS OFF A SWEET AVA-JANINE MOMENT OFF MY BINGO! YEAHHHHHHH!!
BARBARA AND HER ROBE AND SLIPPERS. I LOVE HER.
“GOODNIGHT.” JUST PASSING OUT BEHIND THE THING. Barbara Howard, I love you.
“Because I like you, Janine.” 😭
BARB AND HER C-PAP. HELP. I LOVE HER. OH, GOD, I LOVE THAT SHE HAS A C-PAP. I’M GOING TO WRITE FICS ABOUT THIS.
NOT MELISSA GETTING READY TO BEAT THE “ALIEN” WITH A BASEBALL BAT
“Melissa, I would never ask you to take Barbara out.” AKQKQKOQOQOEDJJSSJ. Ava’s out here really helping all the ships tonight.
Barbara having only been recently diagnosed with sleep apnea, so she didn’t have the machine when Mel and Barb shared a room at PECSA.
“I’m obviously very particular about how I present myself, so I tried to hide it.” That’s it. That’s Barbara Howard in a nutshell.
Mel saying behind and making sure Barb is okay. 😭 Those are my work wives.
“You’re aging with dignity.” SOBBING. I LOVE THEM. This is this season’s “Like fine wine and Stanley Tucci” moment.
“I like you too. Like, a lot.” In the heart room no less.
Both of them admitting to having liked each other from the very beginning. So, so sweet.
“Multi-presidential-term relationship.” JAJWDJDNSN. Incredible line.
“It changed how I feel about me.”
“… and I cannot lose that friend.” This conversation is breaking my goddamn heart. It’s so real and unflinching, confronting the reality of what it means to love someone you work with day-in and day-out. It’s terrifying to possibly upend what already works well between you.
Another bro hug. 😭 I’m actually fucking tender.
That kid going “absolutely” to Barb ANSNDJFNS.
The tender, longing glances Teddie give to each other before going to sleep.
“Work for free?” / “Yeah, you’re really not from Philly, aren’t you, hon?” Never change, Melissa.
“I guess I’m not ready for him, but that’s okay. I’m okay,” she says in the emptiest, most desolate voice.
AVA BAREFOOT DJDJEJDJD.
What a precious and bittersweet finale. I love all these characters so, so much, and I’m going to miss them. 😭
Favorite Moment: That last conversation between Janine and Gregory in the heart room. It was so honest and painful.
Funniest Moment: LMAO, everyone freaking out at Barb with her CPAP machine.
Work Wives Watch: Mel lingering behind to check up on Barb and let her know that she’s aging with dignity. God. 😭

Going Public - Chris Evans x reader
Tumblr media
a/n - hey lovely people!!! i’m sorry for the lack of updates on here, i’ve just been occupied with life lately and haven’t been able to write properly in a while. but here’s this headcanon idea i just had to write:) i missed writing so much, but i can’t say i’m gonna go back to updating frequently yet, so i hope you enjoy this<3
Summary: you and chris were keeping your relationship private, and when you finally decide to go public there’s a particular post that catches your eye... (it’s scott’s, and he’s a goofball).
Warnings: none:)) it’s just a really fluffy fic
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
when chris asked you out, you were ecstatic
but, you did have one request
no publicity
you were a normal girl, and you wanted a normal life, no paparazzi harassing you or jealous women talking shit about you on the internet
and chris had absolutely no problem with that
in fact, he was happy you asked him to try and keep it quiet, since he's such a private person as well
and surprisingly enough, it worked really well
you rarely went on fancy dates, and if you did chris would call ahead and ask they respect your privacy
sure, you couldn't go to bars, or festivals, or shows, and you did feel like you were missing out sometimes
but not really
you and chris were both more introverted, homebodies, and you were both extremely content with just staying at home, or going to the occasional escape room double date with scott and his boyfriend
(you all got progressively more and more competitive with each one, trying to solve them in less and less time, but it was really fun)
it worked so well and for so long, you and chris had just sunken into that comfort zone so much and you were now getting married, without the world knowing
the option of going public with your relationship didn't even come up when you got engaged
chris was happy with it, because he got to keep you all to himself, but mostly because he knew how much you didn't want to go public and how happy you were being a part of his life without the craziness of hollywood
but now, when you were coming back home from your honeymoon, you couldn't help but wonder if that was the right thing to do
sure, you didn't want your potential kids growing up in the limelight
but you also didn't want them to miss out on stuff because of you
plus, you were ready, have been for a while
it couldn't be something you maintained forever, that just wasn't realistic, and that fact that no one found out in the last 3 years was pretty much a miracle
and when you talked about it with chris, he agreed
so, the next week, you both posted the same picture to your social media, tagging each other
it was a beautiful picture from your wedding, slow dancing and gazing lovingly into each other's eyes
it was cheesy, but you both loved it
your accounts were still private, and you were keeping it that way, but chris' fans would know
and so will the rest of the world
chris squeezed your hand reassuringly, and you pressed the post button in unison
you had the urge to throw your phone across the room so you wouldn't see it again, but you took a deep breath, shut it down, and put it away on the table
chris pulled you into a tight hug
"i can't believe we finally did it," you chuckled into his chest as his arms pulled you impossibly closer
"i can't believe i'm gonna have to share my beautiful wife with the rest of the world from now on," you could hear the smile in his voice as he spoke softly
indeed, as you lifted your head to meet his gaze, a soft smile was drawn across his face
you leaned your chin on his chest and looked up at him
"i love you," you said.
"i love you too," he pressed a soft kiss onto your lips, "now do you wanna watch a movie?"
you both didn't look at your phones until the next day
you received hundreds of messages from colleagues, acquaintances who didn't know you well enough and had just found out
you replied to some, and then logged onto instagram
you felt like a kid watching a scary movie, covering their eyes with their hands but leaving room between their fingers to see it anyways
the first thing you saw was chris' post
he posted it with the caption "my everything" and a blue heart
you couldn't resist the temptation and scrolled through some of the comments, and to your relief most of them were supportive or surprised
"cHRISTOPHER WHAT THE FUCK"
"jahfbsapf😭"
"how the hell did he get a wife,,, what"
"okay but he literally married a disney princess LOOK AT HER"
"she's living the dream omg"
you chuckled at the last two
at that moment, chris came up behind you, nuzzling his face into your neck
"good morning," your smiled, turning your head to peck his lips
"morning," he smiled. "have you seen scott's one yet?"
"oh, did he comment? i didn't-"
"oh no, he made a whole post," he chuckled.
you shook your head and opened your phone again, looking up scott's instagram, and sure enough there was a new post
"since these dorks are done being stealthy, i figured i'd share some of my favorite pics of my favorite sister-in-law and my brother whom she so magnificently tamed😜. i love you guys, congrats💖"
you giggled as you read the caption, and only then your eyes lifted to the first photo
it was of you and chris in a halloween party, wearing, how could you not, a disney couples costume
chris was looking at you with a smile, his cheeks slightly tinted, probably from the beers he had that night, while your head was thrown back in laughter
you remembered that night, mostly because of the ridiculous amount of candy you and chris devoured and it made you feel bad until the next morning (still worth it though), but you didn't remember that this picture existed
the next one was a selfie you, chris, and dodger had sent them one afternoon, just because it was so darn cute
dodger was licking your cheek, and you and chris were both laughing
the next was another pic you didn't know he had taken, of the both of you when you were all at a picnic
you were leaning back against chris' chest, and he was pointing at something outside of the picture, gentle smiles on your faces
the next was one of the both of you at your wedding, but it wasn't the nice one of you and chris slow dancing
because scott clearly couldn't leave it at that
it was a picture from later that night, as was seen by your hair, which was more tousled, and it was a picture of you raising your hand high and twirling chris around, clearly laughing
the last one was a picture that was taken in lisa's house, where you were both sitting on the couch
one of chris' hands was on the back, holding you, and the other was on his chest, his face thrown back on laughter
it was the look in your eyes though, that made a grin spring onto your face
because you looked exactly how you felt
so completely in love with this puppy of a man
you felt chris smile behind you
"awww, look at your face," he said, "you like meee," he drawled teasingly
"well, i did marry you," you shrugged, feigning indifference.
he kissed your nose, "i like you too."
"gross," you scrunched your nose at him before you both erupted into laughter
and you at that moment, you truly knew you did the right choice
because everything was okay, and you knew as long as you had chris by your side, it's always going to be
he's the person who made you feel safe, loved
and that was never going to change, no matter what
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Caring is the Greatest Advantage- Part Eight (Mycroft Holmes x Reader)
Sorry for such a long delay!! It’s my little boy’s first birthday this week so I’ve been running around making arrangements and picking up last minute presents! Hope you enjoy this little chapter. It’s only 3K words, but it is a build up ready for the next chapter which will contain smut! Not full blown smut (I don’t think Mycroft is ready for that yet!) but still smutty nonetheless!
I will separate the smutty bit enough so that you can skip it if you want, but it will be referenced later on in that chapter!
Word Count- 3062
Tumblr media
This morning differed from the last few that you had experienced since staying at Mycroft's home, namely because Mycroft had awoken before you this time, but also because it was the first morning you had ever been awoken by long fingers prodding at your forehead. That and also because, despite last night's late events, you managed to arise at a reasonable 9am.
"Did you know there are a lot nicer ways to wake somebody up?" You questioned, opening your eyes to see Mycroft staring at you with a slight frown to his brow. He retracted his hand slightly and shifted to sit a little higher.
"You know, Sherlock as a child once woke me in a similar way. I felt small scratches on my eyebrows and woke up to see him crouched over me with a smug little grin on his face. As it turns out, he had slipped sleeping pills into my cup of tea before bed and in my slumber covered my eyebrows in toothpaste." You covered your mouth with your hand and snorted slightly. "He'd come in to see if there was anything left beneath them, which, of course, there wasn't.. claimed it was just an experiment. I'd like to laugh and be more dignified about it upon looking back, but I struggle because he was only six and already a sod."
"Okay, you've proven there are in fact worse ways to wake up." You didn't make big deals out of it, but every time Mycroft welcomed you a little more into the stories of his youth, you can't help but feel your heart warm. It may not seem like much, but coming from Mycroft, a very private man who hasn't been treated the best over the years, it meant everything. You stretched and moved your hands up to rub your eyes, flinching a little as your fingers brushed against the bit of your head above your eyebrows. "Bugger." You winced, poking again and feeling a small lump.
"I was going to warn you but you laughed at my traumatic eyebrow removal story." You groaned and recalled your memory of last night and where you believe the bruise originated from.
"I jumped into bed last night sulking a bit that you wouldn't talk to me and uh.. misjudged.." Mycroft snickered slightly from your side, you swatted his arm. "Tit. I'm blaming you. This wouldn't have happened if you didn't go all Han Solo in carbonite on me." You spoke playfully, letting him know you weren't truly peeved.
"I thought you said it was cute?"
"That was clearly a concussion talking." You stretched once more and climbed out of the bed, walking over to a mirror above a dressing table and rolling your eyes. "Might need your special government powers to clear out the cafe else Ms Woodall will think we've had a domestic." Bernice Woodall, owner of one of your favourite little cafes settled on the outskirts of St James' Park was a very.. particular lady. She could have a good laugh one moment, and start a quarrel with a customer over the amount they stir their tea the next. But, you'd have to admit, she has one hell of an all day breakfast menu; you could practically taste one of her omelettes just by thinking about it, making your stomach growl loudly.
"I would but, if I am to be very honest, she genuinely scares me a little. I think she could overthrow MI5 so I daren't even try." You stood and moved into Mycroft's bedroom, grabbing your bag of clothes and picking through a few of the pairs of your jeans Anthea had brought and scanning through the t-shirts. Your fingers brushed over the creases of the shirt that had formed from being stuffed in the bag and frowned.
"Perhaps it would be more suitable for you to pop those in one of the chest of drawers? I'm sure I have at least one drawer empty.." Myc's voice came from behind you and you fell from your crouching position, clutching your heart.
"You and your bloody spy legs, you just scared the shit out of me." You stood back up, your pile of today's clothes in one hand and the bag of the rest in the other. "Giving me a drawer in your place already? Ooh Myc you are serious." You grinned playfully, following him as he guided you to a set of drawers in the opposite corner of the room. Mycroft halted and opened his mouth to make some kind of comment but you cut him off, placing your folded clothes inside the Edwardian furniture. "Only teasing.. I'm just glad you haven't kicked me out yet. Though I don't think my own bed will ever feel as comfortable as yours. I might not want to go back now you've spoilt me, you'll just have to be blunt when you're bored of me." You winked at him and carried your outfit into the en suite bathroom to get ready. Mycroft headed over to his wardrobe to pluck out his own clothes, electing to remain somewhat casual for your trip to breakfast with a pair of navy chinos and a lighter blue button up before muttering slightly under his breath.
"And if I never am?"
In the rare parts of his life where he allowed to imagine himself getting into a relationship, Mycroft had never expected himself to be overwhelmed with so much emotion so quickly, but with you it was almost as though he had no control; as though there had been so many pent up feelings over the years that they just seem to have exploded without any rational thought behind it. And whilst these were all new to Mycroft, and how he still wasn't entirely sure about everything that he felt when it came to things with you, the only thing he was positive about was that he didn't want it to go. And that meant not wanting you to leave. Which was ridiculous. You had just under two weeks left together until you would be needed back at work, and he would have to return to fighting on Britain's behalf, but the thought of you not being at home to greet him when he finished, or him not being able to pick you up in one of his cars from the Yard to take you both home made him feel a sense of disappointment. He shook himself from his thoughts when you emerged from the bathroom fully dressed.
"On second thoughts, I may take the risk. I'm not sure I can have members of the general public associating me with a Sex Pistols fan, no matter how humerous you may believe that top to be." You walked out proudly wearing your 'God Save the Queen' t-shirt with a grin. "You are aware tha-"
"That when the Sex Pistols released their song 'God Save the Queen' in 1977 it was around the same time of The Queen's silver jubilee and thus it was banned for a while on the premise of being 'bad gross taste'? You've only mentioned it every time I wear this shirt.. Though if your research extended enough then you'd know Paul Cook said it wasn't written specifically FOR the jubilee.. So if one of Lizzie's spies catch me in the act, I shall make a very sincere apology." Mycroft took his own clothes into the bathroom to get ready himself and scoffed.
"But I AM one of 'Lizzie's Spies'." He mused, leaning slightly against the doorframe after settling the outfit on the counter. You turned around on your heel and stood up on your tiptoes, pushed him more forcefully against the doorframe and placed your hands on Mycroft's cheeks, pressing your lips softly against his. His shock subsided before he kissed you tentatively, his hand resting on your lower back. You pulled away after a moment and ushered him into the bathroom to get ready, closing the door behind you and leaving him still slightly red faced and confused.
"Consider that my sincere apology." You headed over to the dresser and began to tie up your hair. "But hurry up, I'm starving." You called, moving the hairbrush too low and brushing against your bruise, making you wince loudly. From the bathroom, you heard Mycroft's voice before the sound of him brushing his teeth.
"Head?"
"Well I was thinking more along the lines of breakfast, but who knows what the day will bring." You heard the sound of Mycroft choking on his toothpaste and wished to whatever deity out there that you could have seen his face. Yes, you had promised to try and be less overbearing with your comments but he walked into that one. You grinned and sat down on the side of the bed, briefly scanning through your phone before Mycroft emerged, his face still burnt a red as deep as the burgundy sweatshirt he had paired with his outfit. The fact he had come out at all at least let you know that your joke hadn't taken it too far.
"You're a minx."
"And you wouldn't change it. Now let's go!"
---
Only 20 minutes later had you both be found sitting comfortably in Ms Woodall's cafe, tucking into your respective meals- with you noticing, but not commenting on, Mycroft eating comfortably until the last bite of toast was gone, a sense of pride warming within you. Not too long after, Bernice herself headed over to clear up your tables.
"I trust everything was up to standard?" She asked, piling your plates onto her little trolley and offering top ups on your drinks.
"Splendid as usual, Ms Woodall." Mycroft smiled, accepting his new cup of tea and cradling it comfortably between his long fingers.
"Still proving to be our favourite place for breakfast." You praised, your hand reaching out to fondly brush against Mycroft's before taking your coffee into hand. Bernice watched your movements and raised her brow knowingly.
"Took the pair of you long enough. I had been half tempted to abstain from feeding you here until I got one of you to say something, it had started making me feel a bit sick watching you eye each other up each time you'd get up to order something." You rested your elbow on the table, hand covering your mouth as you let out a laugh.
"Yes, well, I can't promise you the ogling will stop on my behalf." You teased.
"And why should it? Mr Holmes in those posh little outfits is enough to make anyone swoon." And with that she had headed back out into the kitchen again.
"There you go, Myc. Should anything happen to me, my replacement is only round the corner."
"Mmm, and she does make a rather good cup of tea. Perhaps I shouldn't wait that long." His lip raised slightly in a smirk as he took a sip of his hot beverage.
"Oh really? Need I start getting possessive; stand my ground?" Before Mycroft could quip back, Ms Woodall had returned with a plate of biscuits in hand.
"Means you've already answered my next question, anywho." She hummed, placing the plate down between you and perching on the corner of the table beside yours. The pair of you gave her a questioning look and she continued, pointing up to her own forehead. "Tony and I were just as bad at the start of our marriage. Anywhere and everywhere we could get our hands on each other, I ended up with bumps and scrapes from alleys, the backs of cars, even in that one restaurant toilet that time.." You choked on your coffee and Mycroft all but dropped his teacup. "Oh don't act so ignorant, even us oldies had sex in their time." Your eyes caught Mycroft's and you could see him stifling down a laugh, biting softly on his knuckle- which, in itself, shouldn't have been as attractive to you as it was, but it is what it is.
"And with that thought, we best be off. Got a movie date planned." You commented, coughing down your own laugh as Bernice continued.
"Though to be fair it never stopped, all that spontaneity. Even towards the end, he could be like a lad of nineteen with how it was. God the positions, you'd have mistaken me for a gymnast and he could last for ages. I'd just lie there wondering 'will this pleasure never end'?" You could feel tears prick at your eyes as your laughter began to break through. "And then of course once Tony passed a couple years ago it all stopped. Shame really, all those years together, ending how it did.. Though sometimes I'm not sure if it's him that I miss or his massiv-"
"Ms Woodall we really should be going, thank you for breakfast." Mycroft hastily threw a few £20 notes on the table, far too much to cover your meal but enough to distract Bernice while tugging your hand and beelining for the door. Once safely distanced from the apparent nymphomaniac cafe owner you had to stop in your tracks to let out a laugh, Mycroft's hand still in yours as you doubled over.
"I can't believe she said that! She's so open."
"Evidently." Mycroft's comment set you off again, his laughter following, ignoring how you caught the attention of a few people passing by. "I do hope you are in no rush for breakfast there again any time soon, I don't think I can look her in the eye for a good while."
"Still so sure on replacing me with her so soon? I think she'd break you."
"Or turn me into a whore." You snorted and settled back to walking.
---
"Drink?"
"Please. Tea, hold the sexual history."
"I'll try my very best, though, much like my tea, I imagine my list would be abysmal in comparison to old Ms Woodall." You flicked on the kettle, eager to replace the half drunk coffee you had discarded on the cafe table in your escape from listening about pensioner sex. "Will you load up the movie?"
"No. But I shall get the film ready to go.. How the American dialect found its way back to England will never fail to disappoint me." You had followed him into the room shortly after, mugs on the table and settled on the sofa beside Mycroft.
"You know, typically, when people elect for a movie day, they don't choose the tenth movie in the series to watch first." You grinned, tucking your legs beneath your body in an attempt to get comfortable. You continued your shuffling movements and heard Mycroft's voice.
"I believe we both agree that Carry On Cleo is the superior of the 31 movies for, well, a multitude of reasons." He trailed.
"I shan't object. It's sweet that you remember it's the first one we watched together.. Had it not been for you hearing Kenneth's famous 'Infamy, infamy' line persuading you to come over, I fear that I'd have been set up with one of Greg's mates by now, sitting in a pub nursing a G+T."
"I never said I remembered that."
"You didn't have to. You and I both know that your favourite was always Carry on Camping."
"Yes, well.. Opinions change with experience."
"Is this our equivalent of a patronus? Yours has changed and matched with mine? Very cute, Myc. Might I expect you in a 'Never Mind the Bollocks' shirt next week?" You teased, electing to lay down with your head lightly using Mycroft's thigh as a pillow, feeling grateful when he didn't shove you off with a comment about ruining the linen of his trousers, and instead took to softly brushing his fingers over your head, narrowly missing the purple bump each time.
"You'd have better chances of catching me running naked down the street."
"Is that a promise?" A flick to your forehead.
"Just play the bloody film."
---
By the time the film had finished, your cheeks had hurt from smiling and your eyelids had felt heavy. Whilst getting up at a reasonable hour had felt like an achievement this morning, the lack of sleep from the previous night was beginning to catch up to you.
"Myc? Would it be entirely improper to nap on the sofa when there are multiple reasonable beds upstairs before continuing our films?"
"Only about as improper as it is to have a midday nap when you're not a young child." You shifted your head from his lap and sat up, ignoring the fact that you actually did end up ruining the linen of his trousers with the crease of your skull.
"Let me rephrase. Mycroft, would you be willing to break your proper posh boy streak and nap with me on the sofa?"
"I suppose it wouldn't hurt to deviate from one's usual behaviours in order to satisfy those one holds dear."
"That's a yes, right? Good, lay down, else I may just collapse right at this moment." Mycroft's sofa certainly was a significantly bit bigger than those usually found in somebody's front room, but it was still nowhere near wide enough for two people to lay with distance. Even still, he followed your request and rotated his body, lifting his long legs to rest down the side of the sofa while you slid into the gap beside him. He eventually circled his arm beneath you and rested his hand on your hip, your face softly brushing against the comforting material of his jumper. "If you drop me, I will be holding you accountable." You mumbled, shifting your body closer to his. He merely hummed, his hand slightly bunching in your shirt and his arm tightening. "I'd always hoped you were secretly a cuddler."
"Make a point of it or tell Sherlock and I'll throw you off." You couldn't even think of a witty comeback before your slumber had taken over, the smell of Mycroft and the sounds of him breathing overstimulating your senses. Mycroft being a secret cuddler hadn't been as much of a shock to you as it probably should have, but you welcome it completely and feel incredibly thankful that he trusts you enough to let you be that close to him, to feel his body in such a way. And you would embrace that- and him- as long as he would let you.

You knew this day would come. You don't know how many times you've called yourself stupid and cursed yourself. He liked her possibly even loved her by now. You were a fool for thinking that just because you found each other in this new version of life, that he could love you the same as he did before. Just because you were together before you died doesn't mean that you could have a life together after death. No matter how much you were still deeply enamored with him. Him and his stupid bright smile, his laugh that was contagious, his chocolate hair that you loved to run your hands through in the middle of cuddling. The calming feeling it gave you both, would it still have that same affect if you tried it now? Let's not mention his eyes. Oh, his eyes. The big green eyes that made him look like a puppy, so pure and innocent, it also held pain that you both would share at times. You both coming from families who had expectations. Expectations that neither of you could hold up. His eyes gave you hope, and butterflies and love.
They still did, he still did. He still had his optimism; although you could tell it was forced. it was the same thing he always tried to do. He was always the one to brighten peoples day and be the strong optimistic one when the others (and even himself) weren't. Either way he was still that same character he always was. And you were still deeply, unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him. You think you always would be.
Despite the new changes of your relationship. Or change. That change being Julie Molina. You saw the way that Luke had looked at her, praised her and her voice. You couldn't hate her for it. It would've been easier to hate her if she was a bitch, you couldn't lie, however she wasn't. She was loyal, caring and determined. She was strong and beautiful and exactly the type of person Luke needed. You were friends with Julie and you cared for her. So, no, you couldn't hate her. It wasn't her fault you changed and was no longer what he wanted. She was not responsible for your insecurities or feelings that you still held for Luke or the feelings that he held for her.
You decided you would let him go. You would let him go because your time with him was over. You were no longer what he needed nor what he wanted and that was okay because you would let him go.
You died a couple of months after the guys did. It was a drug overdose. After the Luke, Alex and Reggie's passing, you got into some pretty bad habits. Such as partying, alcoholism and your cause of death; drugs. It was not great.
The week of your death was rough. You were cleaning your closet after weeks of not doing so, you were gonna make a change, you would do better. That was until you found multiple shirts of Lukes laying about your closet, they were hidden underneath all of your other clothes that were piled up in there. In one particular jacket you found a note in the pocket. 'Can't wait for you to hear the surprise I have for you after the show beautiful ;)' After reading the barely legible note , you broke. You had suspicions he was writing a song about you, he was hinting at it before... and now this confirmed it. You would've gone looking for his notebook if it wasn't for Bobby who when you told him, brushed you off and took you out to distract you. That was when you were introduced to some guy who Bobby told you; had 'the good stuff'. You shrugged it off and took whatever he gave you. Turns out you took too much in so little time and you were dead.
After accepting the fact that you were dead, you wandered around 'life' hoping you'd find your lover and best friends. That day didn't come and you found yourself befriending another ghost named Willie. He was kind enough to show you the perks of being, well, dead. He even tried to introduce you to Caleb and that whole world but you decided you were out before you were even in. You had felt enough bad vibes from Caleb to know not to get involved with him. If only you had those survival instincts when you were alive.
Then it was 25 years of being a ghost and Willie had came to hang out with you in your favorite spot that you now called your home, a beach house that some rich family used as their Summer home.
"Hey Y/N, made a new friend today." He said skating into the house. You walked out of one of the rooms while reading a book, not really paying attention to what he was saying. "Oh really? that's cool."
"Yeah his names Alex, said he was in a band." You froze and looked up at him as he skated and transported on top of the kitchen counter. 'No,' you thought. 'It couldn't be your Alex, could it?' There was no way, not after all these years, it doesn't make sense. There were also a million different guys named Alex in the world. 'But he said he was in a band.' Your mind raced through the different scenarios. If you were thinking logically it could be a coincidence and it'd be stupid to think there wouldn't be any other guys out there who was dead, in a band, and named Alex. When you put it like that...
"How'd he look like?" Willie looked confused when you asked but answered. "Blonde hair, blue eyes, kinda cute but I call dibs."
Your heart was pounding, if Alex was here that could mean that Luke might be with him. You managed to roll your eyes at his reclamation. "Yeah you can have him, but um, you think I can go with you next time you meet with him?"
He looked at you shocked, "Uh sure?" He came up to you holding a hand to your forehead as if checking your temperature. "Are you okay? Is the loneliness getting to you?" You pushed his hand away.
"I'm fine dummy."
He laughed. "I'm just saying you never wanna meet any of my friends."
"Yeah, cause you have so many." You said sarcastically and plopped down on the couch. Willie, as extra as he is, jumped over it to sit next to you.
"Not true I have-"
"Ghost club doesn't count, they're creepy and enslaved to Caleb." You opened your book and pretended to read while you thought of what you would do if it really was your Alex.
"Whatever, what made you all of a sudden decide to be social?"
You closed the book and crossed your legs. You decided to be honest with him. You already told him of how you died, how you had a boyfriend who also died along with your best friends. He tried to help you find them until you gave up. You didn't however go into detail about how they died or what they did. That just brought on too many memories. But now you decided it was time. So you told him everything.
~~~
You were anxious as you waited for Willie and Alex at a place where Willie likes to skate at. If it was your best friend Alex you wanted to talk to him in a private place not surrounded by people. Even though you were all ghosts and nobody could see you, it felt more special and less awkward with people potentially walking through you. But if it wasn't your Alex then you could just leave and let Willie enjoy his 'date' with the guy.
When they showed up you almost screamed. You were in shock, there he was, one of your best friends. Probably the one with the most brain cells. "Alex?" Although you already knew you called his name to catch his attention.
"Y/N?" He ran up to you and hugged you.
"Alex," You patted his back "can't- breath."
He let you go putting his hands on your shoulders and pushed you to arm length as he observed you, taking in your appearance. "Wait..." You saw his face fall from the wide smile to a solemn expression. "Oh Y/N/N."
"Yeah..." You rubbed your arms.
"How?" He asked. "You look just the same as you did back then."
You chuckled. "Well so do you."
"But wouldn't that mean that you-'
"Died around the same time you guys did? Yup."
"Again, how?" He pushed. "You didn't, y'know ki-"
"God, Alex no I didn't kill myself." You smacked his arms away and paced around. "It's a long story, one that I'd don't wanna tell three different times. Are Reggie and Luke with you?" You asked hopefully. And he shook his head. You sighed in relief. "Where are they?"
"C'mon I'll take you to them."
And he did.
When you showed up to Julies garage and saw Luke for the first time he stood still, staring in disbelief. Reggie was the first one to come up to you throwing his arms around you and jumping excitedly. Once you managed to get Reggie off you, you went up to Luke "Hey baby." Tears were forming in your eyes. He pulled you into your third hug today, then pulling back, kissing you quickly and pulling you in again.
~~~
The bliss of being reunited only lasted so long before the band got caught up in performing in their new band Julie and the phantoms. You were glad that they were happy and that they had something that motivated them. And that all this time they were together. They even made friends, with a lifer, something you couldn't wrap your head around but you were happy for them. For a time you were happy with them. You were back with you best friends and you made new ones. You and Luke had a bit of a complicated relationship, you acted like you had always acted, of course things were different but you still talked like a couple. You acted like couple. Kisses were another story, it wasn't casual anymore it was when it was needed. It wasn't like before where if you would go somewhere or show up, you would give Luke a quick kiss goodbye or hello. Now it was more in the moment when you guys cuddled and you would look at each other and remember the memories of the past; of when you were alive and planning a life together. Your relationship wasn't what it was before but you would take it. After years of being alone -- with the exception of willie-- you would take those moments that you didn't feel were given 100% fueled with romantic and passionate love but with something different.
That was until the whole situation with Caleb happened and Luke and Julie hugged. They touched, how that happened you didn't know. What you did know is they were connected and they had chemistry. It was a hug, you internally rolled your eyes at your childishness. Technically you would've been an adult by now. Why were you worrying about your boyfriend hugging his friend after a situation where you all thought you'd be separated forever.
Maybe it was because you knew it meant more. The way they were holding each other wasn't how he held you the first time you saw each other again. You tried to brush it off, blaming it on you being insecure, it meant nothing.
Weeks had passed and nothing had changed besides the obvious tension and chemistry that Julie and Luke had. That was when you made the choice to let him go. You had nothing to offer him. If you were to get into technicalities Luke couldn't offer Julie anything, he was dead and she was still living. However they would have some time together and they had the band!
You did what you thought was best and you left a note on Julies piano along with with the note you found in Luke's pocket before you died. You always carried it around but there was no point in holding on to something that wasn't gonna be yours anymore. You would be in your beach house, where if they wanted to find you they could. For now you would let him go.

per auda ad astra. (tendou satori)
➵ latin. “through hardships to the stars.” you and tendou have been through everything together. so of course you’ll lend him a hand when he needs a date.
wc: 2.5k
warnings: references to bullying
“I have a favour to ask,” Tendou smiled, tilting his head at you.
You raised an eyebrow at him. Tendou had popped over for a ‘quick visit.’ But, while you were preparing yourself a tea for what would inevitably be a long conversation, he’d decided to spring the real reason for his visit on you. “Mhm?”
“Would you please come to dinner with my parents?” Tendou pursed his lips together. “Pretty please?”
“Why do you say that like you’re asking me to run a marathon in nothing but my underwear?” You bit back a smirk. “It’s just dinner with your parents.”
“Well,” Tendou took a deep breath, his eyes fluttering closed. “I need you to pretend to be my partner. Just this once.”
Your entire body froze. “Excuse me?”
“I know!” Tendou waved his hands at you, his face a strange mix of alarm and confidence. “It’s just for this one dinner!”
“Why though?”
“My parents are a trifle miffed that I haven’t found someone to settle down with.” A whisper of a blush graced his cheeks. “They’ll start taking matters into their own hands if I’m not careful.”
“Yikes,” you murmured, turning back to tend to your tea.
“And I was thinking,” Tendou hummed, propping his chin on his hand, “you already know them, right? We just need to get our little lie straight, and it’ll be easy sailing.”
“Worried someone else’ll think this is unethical?” You raised an eyebrow at him, biting the inside of your cheek.
“Maybe,” he drawled, tilting his head at you. “But c’mon, it’ll just be dinner with my parents. All you’d have to do is hold my hand and tell them you’ve had a thing for me this entire time.”
You laughed, ignoring the strange tightening in your chest. “You’re really scared of them setting you up with someone, huh?”
“They will!” He groaned, laying his arms across your kitchen counter. “They’ve already sent me a list. Do you know how awkward that is?”
“Anyone I know on it?”
“There’s no way in hell you’ll ever find out,” he grumbled, crossing his arms and propping his chin on them.
“Really?” You grinned. “Will you tell me if I pretend to be your partner?”
Tendou glared at you through narrowed eyes. “I thought I could trust you to have my back.”
You laughed, shaking your head. “It’s really this much of a big deal?”
“Look, every time I’ve gone home alone, at least half of dinner is spent talking about my marriage,” Tendou groaned, rolling his eyes. “I’d like to avoid that for once, you know? And hopefully stave off and awkward dates arranged by my parents.”
“Fine, fine,” you laughed, waving a hand at him. “But you owe me one, okay?”
--------
You’d known Tendou for pretty much your whole life. He’d been your next-door neighbour growing up, and you genuinely couldn’t remember a time before he’d made a lasting impression of you.
You were young; you didn’t know what the world expected from you. You didn’t know how people could be cruel. All you knew was that you liked the little red-headed boy from next door, and you enjoyed spending time with him.
You didn’t have many specific memories of your past together, but you remembered what it felt like; free, comfortable, full of possibility. The feeling that you could do absolutely anything, so long as you believed hard enough.
Afternoons drowned in the fading sunlight, chasing one another down the street as you embroiled yourself in some fantastical game. June days spent in the mud, making cakes or starting fights.
You remembered the stars best of all.
On an evening when your parents were feeling particularly lenient, you’d be allowed to pop over to Tendou’s for a sleepover. And an absolutely vital part of that was clambering up to his roof and looking out at the stars.
And, with the sense of surety only afforded to children, you’d named them yourselves. There was a dragon, of course, and a witch. According to Tendou, the dragon had the potential to swallow the entire earth – and if it weren’t for the efforts of the witch, we would all be doomed. He also insisted that the witch was quite a looker. You’d been too young to really care.
The witch also had a kitsune as a sidekick, whose nine tails seemed to spread out into infinity. Tendou insisted that a new tail grew every one hundred years, and that soon enough the sky would be drowned by those stars.
You’d snorted at that. But the thought stuck with you, resurfacing a couple of years later when you learnt of how stars were born.
Primary school had been as awful as you’d dreaded it would be. You managed to escape it more or less unscathed; you’d managed to slip into relative anonymity. But Tendou?
It was the first time you’d noticed that he was different. Unique. And everyone else noticed, too.
But they didn’t see things the same way you did.
You remembered some days with uncomfortable clarity; sitting behind the school, his scuffed knees brought up to his chest, face buried in his legs to hide it from you. You, knowing nothing other than holding his hand.
You’d wanted to do something. But you’d felt nothing but fear. And for many years after that, you’d carried the shame with you.
Tendou knew. And, bless his soul, he insisted you had nothing to feel bad about. But words weren’t enough.
Middle school had been easier. Tendou’s modus operandi changed; no more tears. No more submission. He didn’t fight back so much as guard himself. It seemed as if he’d gained some confidence.
You knew it was a lie; a cloak he’d put on to guard himself from the cold. But it worked, to some degree.
And better yet, he’d gotten quite good at volleyball. That, more than anything, was his armour.
You’d always be grateful for the volleyball team. For how they’d accepted him. They, more than anyone else up til that point, seemed to see him as you did. As someone full of virtue. Warmth may not have been the defining quality of those relationships, but they’d given him support in a way others never had. And they’d valued what he could give them, too.
He still spoke to some of them, even after all this time.
It was all you could’ve asked for. And even though they didn’t make it to nationals in your third year, you knew that he had no regrets. That even if he wouldn’t continue on with the sport, he’d done himself proud.
And even in the midst of all that, you two still found time to climb onto that roof and look at your stars. And every year, the witch’s chest seemed to grow more and more ample.
You’d ended up at the same university by some stroke of luck. It certainly wasn’t planned, and you’d both been preparing yourselves for what would inevitably be a painful goodbye.
But, it had continued like always. You and him, arms linked and heads thrown back in laughter. And he’d flourished at university in ways he hadn’t before. He’d really found his feet, and grown into someone he could be proud of. And you’re proud of him, too.
And through all your own hardships and successes, he’d been there. Cheering you on, lending you a hand… whatever you needed, you knew you could rely on Tendou for it.
You simply couldn’t imagine your life without him.
And all that’s running through your mind as you sit there at the dinner table, doing your absolute best to appear the adoring partner.
“Well, I thought you and Satori would’ve been married years ago,” his mother laughed.
You blushed at that. “I…”
She, in particular, had been the most delighted when you’d shown up at the door. Tendou hadn’t told his family who is ‘partner’ was; surely a tactic meant to simplify the web of lies.
“Love is blind, mother,” Tendou sighed, giving your hand a little squeeze. “And deaf. And mute. And it has a tendency not to realise itself til it’s too late.”
Confound and distract. Good tactic?
“I don’t think you used that idiom quite right,” you mumbled to it.
He shrugged.
“So, when are you getting engaged?” There was a twinkle to his grandfather’s eye that you didn’t like.
You cringed.
“All in good time,” Tendou said. You almost envied his total lack of anxiety. “You can’t rush this sort of thing, you know.” He tilted his head at him, lips curling into a smile. “Besides, you’re just trying to embarrass me.”
His grandfather chuckled, but said no more.
“Now, tell me darling, what have you been up to recently?” His mother had turned her kindly smile to you once more. And even though you felt awful for lying to her, it was comforting.
So, you told her. And as you were talking, you began to realise just how comfortable Tendou’s hand felt in yours.
You’d started your trip holding hands, in an attempt to ‘get in character.’ You weren’t going to pull this off if you couldn’t show casual affection to one another. But something about holding his hand felt… right. His fingers may be long and lanky, and still calloused from his stint with volleyball, but they fit so nicely with yours. You were doing your best not to think about it.
There was plenty of talk about the old times. Not that you were surprised by that in particular. What did surprise you was how many damn stories his family had about times they’d suspected the two of you were dating.
If Tendou had brought someone else home, would his family tell them stories of you?
But all that aside, it all flowed very naturally. His parents believed you; no need for them to get involved in his private life. You didn’t have to think up some lie to keep track of; you just told the truth, with a little embellishment. It felt so easy.
You finished dinner without a slip-up. His family had been completely fooled; and some part of you felt bad about the fallout to come. You could envision the look on his mother’s face quite clearly.
While this had been easy for the two of you, you had a feeling that made it much harder for everyone else.
You tried not to think about it as you lay on the roof, looking up at the stars you knew so well.
It’s fairly easy to see the stars in Miyagi. Easier than it is in the bigger cities. It’s probably the thing you miss most about your hometown – people aside.
You still can’t identify any of the major clusters. The only constellations were the ones you’d made together. Truth be told, the outlines you two had drawn were tenuous at best. But they were yours, and you cherished them for that.
And on that roof, you felt you might talk the night away. Something about being under the stars made you feel vulnerable. It made you feel ready to bare your soul. Some of your deepest conversations had taken place up here; the trading of fears and hopes, of those feelings you dare not show anyone else.
And to think, you were back here because Tendou needed to get his parent’s off his back.
“Thank you,” Tendou mumbled. “For doing this.”
You smiled at him. “Not a problem.”
You were laid out on his roof, maybe a hand’s width apart. It was a bit more difficult to fit, as adults. But that hadn’t stopped you when you were teenagers.
“Tell me, Satori,” you smiled, your eyes wandering the skies, “what does the witch look like again?”
“I’m not letting you bait me like that,” he grinned.
“Oh? Is that… shame that I hear?” You turned to look at him. He was already looking at you through the dark. The moonlight looked quite flattering on him.
Even after all this time, things with Tendou are so… easy. So relaxed. You never have to worry about being anyone other than yourself. And nobody celebrated you the way he had.
You wanted him to stick around. It was a gentle realisation; one the came as a relief.
“You know, this almost went too well,” he chuckled, looking up at the sky again. “We’d’ve almost fooled me, if I wasn’t so careful.”
You felt his hand brush yours. Was that intentional?
Maybe it would be better if you’d been fooled. Maybe that’s how things should be.
“Hey… Satori?”
“Mhm?”
You fought the urge to take his hand. “When we get back, would you…” You took a deep breath. You had to say it. You wanted to. “Would you like to go on a date?”
His eyes were wide and bright as he stared at you.
“I mean…” God, this was a bit awkward, wasn’t it? You hadn’t even given him time to reply and you were already trying to fill the silence. “If you’re not interested, please pretend that I didn’t say anything.”
Tendou laughed. “Oh, don’t think I’ll be forgetting this any time soon. I’ve gotta take the few boosts to my ego I get.”
You bit the inside of your cheek, torn halfway between smiling and decking him in the face. “I was being serious!”
“I know, I know,” Tendou grinned, taking your hand in his as he looked back at the sky. It’d been so smooth and natural that you hadn’t really noticed it. “How does tomorrow sound?”
“Tomorrow?”
“Yeah,” he shrugged. “Keep the momentum going.” He flashes you a look, grinning. “Gotta make you fall for me before you decide this is a terrible idea.”
“See, when you say it like that—”
“Please don’t take it back,” he blurted.
“I wasn’t going to,” you laughed. “You’re…” You wanted to say that he was the most important person in your life. But you didn’t quite have the words for that, yet. “You mean a lot to me, okay?”
Even in the dark, you could see his face turning as red as his hair. “Geez… you can’t just say that to a guy, you know?”
“What? I can’t be honest?”
“Well you can be honest, you’ve just… gotta prepare me for such a hit.”
“Pft,” you shook your head, looking for the dragon in the stars. Maybe it was all a bit sudden. And maybe you were being a little too honest. But it felt right. And you felt that if you didn’t say something now, you’d just come to regret it later.
“You mean a lot to me, too.” His voice is quiet, and there’s a slight tremble to it. But it’s honest.
You squeezed his hand in response. For now, there didn’t need to be any more words. Just the two of you, hand in hand, looking up at the stars. The way it had always been.
“Hey.” He tapped your hand with his thumb.
“Hm?”
“What are we gonna do about the bed?”

Genre: Fanfiction, PG13, Comedy, Romance.
A/N: Hi! :’) Here’s the update! Also, this chapter’s a little longer than usual-- I hope you all don’t mind 😥 also! Hope you all enjoy this one, please look forward for the next one <3
“I just don’t get why he’d ask you to run errands for him like this,” Soomin nagged as she helped grab several napkins and paper straws from the side of the counter.
You were standing beside her, a receipt in your hand as your eyes scanned the items in the list, making sure that you’ve ordered every single one that Bomin had asked for.
“Aigoo, unnie. Just let it be. It’s the least I could do anyways,” you said with a sigh.
Soomin shook her head at this. “Erm no way. I’m not putting up with this. He was never like this, you know? He’s always been a gentleman, respectful to everyone,”
“Sure, unnie,” you replied, not paying full attention to what she was saying as your head kept glancing over at the order pickup counter, in case your order has completed.
“Did you see the glare I gave him when he called you to gather orders from everyone in the room? The nerve! Asking my staff to run around taking orders like a waitress!” she continued nagging, clearly dissatisfied as to how her very own best friend was treating her staff—well, you in particular.
You chuckled, “It’s fine, unnie. I don’t have much tasks to do anyways.”
Soomin frowned at you. “Don’t let people step on you like that, y/n.”
“I won’t.”
“But you’re complying to whatever he tells you to do,”
“We’re working with him, unnie. Doesn’t that make him sort of my boss too for the time being?”
“Yeah, but I’m your leader. I get the final say,”
You let out another sigh, aware that you’re not going to win this argument with your leader. You simply nodded and replied an ‘okay’ to her to make sure she drops the subject already.
You glanced over the watch on your wrist, noticing that it was almost lunchtime.
“Oh, right,” Soomin’s voice said, making you turn to her again.
“Hm?”
“Do you have something going on with that guy?” Soomin asked casually as she fixed her strand of wavy hair to the back of her ear.
You tilt your head in response, not knowing who she was referring to.
“Oh come on, y/n. Don’t give me that look.” She chuckled. “Everyone on the 5th floor has talked about it,”
“Talk about what?” you asked, clearly confused as to what was going around about you.
“Oh, you know. You and Chani.”
“Oh, that.” You laughed. “We’re just good friends. I mean, I’ve only known him when we started this workshop in this company,”
“I see. You both look kinda close to each other. Some of the staff said you both were dating,”
Your eyes widened when she said this. You shook your head, denying what you heard. “Pfft, no way! We’re just friends, really.”
Soomin chuckled at your response. “Alright, I trust you.”

 YGE Building (Junkyu’s studio)
Junkyu stared blankly at the screen in front of him. He was supposed to be working on the lyrics of one of his own self-written songs, but instead he was letting himself get distracted.
He pulled off the headphones from his head and placed it onto the table.
Pushing his chair to the back, Junkyu leans into the chair and lets out a sigh.
He wasn’t in the mood to write the song at all today. He took out his phone from his pocket and unlocks the home screen.
He checks up on the text he’s sent you and noticed the ‘seen’ sign underneath the message he sent.
He squints his eyes and stared at the screen up close like as if he’s searching for a hidden message in the chat.
Junkyu shakes his head, realising that staring at the screen up close wouldn’t make you reply to him any sooner. But then again, when would you reply then?
He had sent the text to you that Saturday and he was expecting you to at least say something. An emoji? A mad text? A simple ‘no’ would’ve made him feel less guilty.
He sighs heavily and shakes his phone in frustration.
“Hyung?” A familiar voice said from his studio door.
Junkyu stopped shaking the phone in his hand and turns his chair around to see who it was.
Jeongwoo, who was standing at the doorframe of his studio, gave his hyung a strange look. “Are…you okay? Why did you shake your phone like that?”
Junkyu immediately stood up from his swivel chair and tucks his phone into his jacket’s pocket. “N-nothing. I was just…” he blinked a couple times, trying to think of a way to change the subject. “W-what brings you here?”
Jeongwoo pushed the door open wider and enters himself inside the studio fully now, “I’m taking a break from the online task my teacher gave earlier. I wanted to get something to drink from the cafeteria so I wondered if you wanna tag along,”
“Ahh, right. You had to skip school today because it’s your turn to film a T-log with Mashi, right?”
Jeongwoo nods his head.
“Well, I’m hardly progressing with my song anyways. I guess I could use a break,” Junkyu said as he turns around to grab his wallet from his small yellow treasure merch bag.
“Cool! Then maybe we can get some of those mashed crab sandwiches from the store downstairs too!” Jeongwoo said excitedly, making Junkyu shake his head in amusement at him.
 *
 YGE Building (Outside cafeteria)
Both you and Soomin were bringing bags consisting of takeaway-cup drinks in both of your hands and the both of you were somewhat arguing over who should carry less than the other.
“No, unnieeee. Just give me that extra bag! Who’s gonna help me open the door if your hands are full like that??”
“Ugh no way! You should give me your bag! You’re carrying 12 drinks in two hands, that’s ridiculous as it is!” she shot back at you.
You rolled your eyes at her and tried to snatch one of the drink bags from her hand with your fingers but then you ended up losing balance and almost falling down.
“I told you!” Soomin said as you tried to keep your balance in front of her.
“Shut up,” you said to her, your face turning red in embarrassment because of how you almost fell down in front of your leader.
Soomin lets out a small laugh, “You’re quite stubborn, aren’t you? Aigoo, just let me help you,”
“Fine,” you sighed. And just as you were struggling to hand over the bag consisting of 4 drinks to your leader, you heard a familiar voice calling out to you.
“Y/n, is that you?”
You lift your head up to see Jeongwoo and Junkyu heading towards your direction.
“Jeongwoo-aa…” you said in an unsure tone.  You were distracted with the fact that your heart was suddenly beating fast from seeing Junkyu heading to where you were standing.
Soomin looked at you, wondering why you were suddenly acting all flustered after the younger boy had greeted you.
“Unnie, I think we should hurry,” you blurted out nervously.
“Hm? But I think your friend just called out to you?”
“N-no! It’s okay,” you gave her a small smile. “We need to head back before Bomin wonders why we’re taking so long, no?”
“Uhh, sure,”
And just as soon as Jeongwoo and Junkyu had arrived closely to where you were standing, you hurriedly walk past them and told Jeongwoo that you were in a rush so you couldn’t stay to chat with him.
Soomin followed closely behind you, wondering why you were acting all weirdly the moment you saw those two boys.
Jeongwoo turned around as he watches you pass by him and his hyung, your figure slowly disappearing from his sight.
“Huh…I guess she’s busy,”
Junkyu nods slowly at this. He noticed that you were avoiding to look at him earlier.
“She…was avoiding me,” Junkyu said softly, making Jeongwoo turn to look at him now.
“Hyung…”
Junkyu lets out a small chuckle, although he wasn’t smiling. “I guess it’s over now, isn’t it?”
“No hyung, don’t say that! She’s just busy that’s all. You saw how full her hands were, didn’t you? I bet she was in a hurry for a meeting or something,” Jeongwoo added, trying to assure his hyung that everything was indeed okay.
Junkyu sighs and shakes his head. “Come on, let’s head in,” he said as he steps forward towards the cafeteria entrance.
 *
 After bumping into Junkyu and Jeongwoo, you kept walking at a fast pace, forgetting that your leader was still behind you, trying to keep up with your pace.
“Y/n, you might want to slow down. You’re shaking those drinks around too much,” Soomin said, making you slow down as you realised how much the drinks had been shaken and that some have started spilling into the paper bag you were carrying.
“Oh gosh, sorry,” you said as you stopped walking.
Soomin stood beside you and watched as you busied yourself with checking the drinks in your bags.
“Hey, you good, y/n?” she asked.
“Hm, what?” you raised your head to look at her.
“You seem…kind of bothered,”
“What? No, no! I was just—I was just worried if we took too much time being away from the meeting room,” you said, giving her a sorry smile as you lied your way through her.
“Uhuh…” Soomin gave you a thoughtful look for a couple of seconds. “If you say so,” she shrugged in the end, deciding not to ask further since she didn’t want to invade your private life too much.
“Alright then, let’s just head back now.” Soomin added as she starts walking forward again, this time with her being in front of you.
You nod your head and followed behind her.
“Oh and y/n?” Soomin said, her head still staring straight ahead as she walked.
“Yes?”
“I’d like to discuss something with you later. I wanted to ask you this earlier but I almost forgot about it,” she chuckled. “We’ll discuss this when we reach the meeting room, okay?”
“Sure, Soomin-unnie,”

 (The next day/Tuesday)
YGE Building – Main Meeting Room
“You WHAT?” Bomin’s voice boomed loudly throughout the empty meeting room.
“Shh, keep it down, will you?” Soomin said in a softer tone compared to him as she looks around, even though it was clearly just the both of them in the room.
Both Bomin and Soomin regularly meet up with each other at an early time before work begins, hence, them both being the only people in the room whilst waiting for the rest of Bomin’s staff’ and Soomin’s Comms Team members to arrive.
“Soomin, as much as I support you in everything you do—you know I always support your decisions, right?”
Soomin nods at this.
“Okay, good. Now listen to me jagi,” he said as he stands closer to her, “I care about you so much. But deciding this on your own is ridiculous,”
Soomin shakes her head. “First of all, I told you—” she paused as she took a step back to distance herself from him. “I told you that we shouldn’t make it too obvious that we’re together, Bomin.”
“And, what makes you think my decision this time is ridiculous?” she asked.
Bomin presses his fingers against the middle of his forehead, hissing in frustration. He lets out a sigh and looks at his girlfriend that was standing right in front of him right now. He loves her, he really does. And he’s always wanted the best for her, of course.
Bomin had always had feelings for Soomin, since they had been close ever since their high school days. But then he held himself back from confessing to her for couple of years because he believed that a wonderful person like Soomin deserves only the best—in which he proved he managed to achieve after he secured his post as one of the head staffs in the YGE Company.
The collaboration between Soomin’s team and his made him believe that it was fate that brought them to work closely together, and for him to finally confess his feelings towards his very own close friend, which led him to today—dating the beautiful and sophisticated Soomin, and being able to call her as his girlfriend finally.
Soomin, who had only recently began dating Bomin, was happy to accept his feelings, working with him has made her feelings for him resurfaced from when they were in school back then. But she was determined to keep things professional at work. She’s that type of person.
But judging from Bomin’s careless behaviour, she could tell that Bomin isn’t trying to keep things between them as professional as she was.
“Well?” Soomin said, pushing for an answer from him since all he did was just stare at her without saying anything for the past minute.
“Tsk. Soomin. You know why I’m against this specific idea of yours,”
“No, I don’t. All I know is that you’re being a judgemental person,” she replied, implying that she does indeed know why Bomin was against her idea this time.
Bomin looks up at the ceiling, taking in the insult his girlfriend just said to him.
“Bomin, look at me,”
Bomin looks back at Soomin’s face, her eyes wider this time as she waited for his answer to her question.
“Look, babe—I mean, Soomin. You know,” he paused. “Ugh, you know I don’t like how you’re giving her special treatment all the time,”
Soomin scoffs at him, bemused. “I’m not giving her special treatment. I believe she has what it takes to do this,”
“She’s only been in your team for what—a month?? One of the company’s shareholders is going to be here today, and you have the nerve to take this stupid risk?”
“Don’t talk to me with that tone,”
Bomin groaned in frustration, seeing that he had somehow ticked Soomin’s mood off as well. He’s probably in for a bad day.
“Look, I already briefed her yesterday. I even sent her the materials for her to rehearse too. She’ll do fine!” Soomin added.
“You don’t get it! The reason I wanted you to be the one handling the presentation is because I want you to be recognised for your hard work! Now look at you, blowing your chance away!”
“That’s not true. You and I both know that half of the paperwork and data gathered for our presentations were gathered and done by y/n.”
“Even so—”
“Even so, I’m not doing it, Bomin. Y/n deserves to present her hard work for my team, and if you’re going to argue further about this…” Soomin looks at the door behind Bomin. “then I have nothing else to talk about with you.” With that, Soomin grabbed her handbag and headed towards the door, exiting the meeting room.
“Damn,” Bomin muttered to himself as he hurriedly left the room to chase after his girlfriend.
 *
 You arrived at the meeting room to see some of your team members already in their seats, all making small talk with one another. At the front of the meeting room, you saw Soomin with another one of your team members who was always in charge of fixing technical stuff for your team’s meetings so you assume that he’s probably setting up the slides and all that for today’s meeting.
Of course, you didn’t know the drama your team leader had with her boyfriend earlier today that had indirectly involved you.
Soomin was happily setting up the needed materials for your presentation, her face beaming as she was happy that she had won in the argument with her boyfriend too, enabling her to proceed with her plan of having you present for your company’s team today. As soon as she saw you putting your bag under the table of your seat, she gestured you to approach her.
You nod and made your way towards her and as you were doing so, you realised that Bomin was somehow glaring at you. Which made you shudder. What is with him today?
“Y/n, I’m so glad you made it here early. Sam is putting up your slides and notes on the screen for your reference so you can check on them before we start later on, okay?” Soomin said as soon as you were near her.
You nod at her, understanding what she said.
“Oh, and, have you read up on the materials I attached last night? Sorry for the late info, by the way. I didn’t mean to drop everything on you in all of a sudden,”
“It’s alright. I read up on them last night…though I can’t promise that it’ll be perfect today—” you grinned at her.
Soomin rolled her eyes at you and snickered, “Please—you’ll do great. I have a good feeling about today.”
“I don’t,” you joked.
“Please,” she laughed. “Okay, I think you can swipe through the slides now. Thanks Sam,” she said to him as he bowed and left the both of you alone.
You took over Soomin’s spot in front of the monitor and checked on the slides as you pressed the arrow button on the keyboard.
“Oops, incoming,” Soomin said in all of a sudden, making you stop what you were doing.
“Hm? What is it?”
And instead of Soomin answering you, you heard another voice approaching you.
“Y/n! You look so pretty today!” Chani said happily as he popped out of nowhere. He wasn’t in the room when you first arrived and in all of a sudden, he’s standing in between you and Soomin, a silly grin on his face.
Soomin smirked at the both of you and excused herself, “Well, I should get back to my seat. Good luck for today!” she pats your back before leaving.
“Hm? Good luck for what?” Chani asked as he turns to look at you directly now.
“Soomin-unnie is letting me present the final progress report for this workshop,” you replied, a smile on your face.
“Hmm,”
You stopped scrolling through your slides and turned to him. “What? You think I can’t handle today’s big meeting?”
“Well…I’m not even gonna lie, one of our company’s shareholders is gonna be here today…”
You scowled at him and punched his arm, making him laugh at you.
“I’m just kidding! I mean, I’d be nervous but hey, I think you’ll do fine. Just…don’t smile too much,”
“Hm? Why not? The shareholder doesn’t like it when people smile??” you ask him, dumbfounded.
“No, that’s not it,” he laughed. He leaned close to you to whisper, “I just think you look super pretty today and I’m afraid if you smile too much, he might fall for you like I did,”
You punched his arm another time, making him distance himself from you, “Ow, hey!”
“Cut it out, Chani. Go back to your seat,” you grumbled at him.
“Aww are you blushing? You’re shy, aren’t you? You like it when I tell you you’re pretty,” he teased you.
He wasn’t lying though. You could feel your cheeks heating up from him being so close to you like that. Not that it meant anything to you though. You were just surprised by his daringness today.
Chani has always been caring and affectionate towards you, but him flirting?? That’s new.
You shook your head at him and was about to nag at him about him bothering you too much when your eyes fell upon the people in the room. You noticed that most of them were watching you and Chani.
Have they been watching over the both of you the whole time?
“Look at them, I told you they’re dating,”
“Gasp, really? The nerve. Who does she think she is? With Chani??”
“Eh?? They do look good together…”
Suddenly you could hear them all talking about the both of you.
You were so distracted by everyone else that you didn’t realise Chani was busy looking through your notes and talking to you about what he had for breakfast.
You turn to look at him, his head lowered down as he read your notes on the screen. It seems like Chani was oblivious as to what was going on in the room.
How does he do it? How is he not bothered by what other people are saying? Is he really okay with the rumours everyone was spewing about you two?
“…seem fine. I’m sure you’ll do good today, don’t worry too much,” Chani said as he places his hand on your head, patting it.
You were too busy listening to everyone else’s whispers that you had missed out on what Chani was saying.
You pulled his hand away from your head, and smiled awkwardly at him. “Yeah, sure. Thanks. I uh, I’m gonna look through the slides one more time. You should go back to your seat,”
Chani noticed your sudden stiff expression so he decided to just comply and return to his seat.
And just as he sat down in his chair, still feeling puzzled by your sudden switch of mood, he noticed Bomin eyeing him, a smirk on his face.
Chani frowned at him, annoyed that this man is watching over him as always. He looked away and cursed the man under his breath.
 *
 After a good 20 minutes of presenting your company’s findings on the progress of the YG staff your team have mentored and tutored for the past week along with the intended future merges and implications, you swallowed the last bit of air you needed to conclude the presentation and thanked all the people in the room for listening.
“And that is all from us, are there any questions?” you asked, your voice sounding slightly hoarse as you felt it dry up from non-stop talking for the past 20 minutes.
Everyone else in the room shook their heads, to which you felt grateful for since you were sure that the presentation was made clear for everyone to understand fully.
You released a breath of air you didn’t realise you had been holding in when suddenly, the YG shareholder that had attended the meeting today raised his hand.
“Y-yes, sir? You have a question?”
“Hmm…well, frankly I’m not directing this only to you, but to everyone in this room,” he said as he turns to look at everyone in the room.
“This isn’t a question, but just want to say that I think everyone here is satisfied with your team’s plans and efforts as compared to last year. You all simply have improved much,” he continued, a smile on his face.
“Uhh, thank you, sir,” you answered back.
“That was a very insightful presentation too. I liked how your company arranged the new system. I say, a big round for PEWA Groups!” he exclaimed proudly, to which he clapped his hands to, earning everyone else’s applause as well in the room.
You bowed and smiled happily, locking eyes with Soomin who was also grinning as she clapped her hands.
“Thank you so much for the high praise, sir. We couldn’t have done a great job without your great staff here too, so, we’re equally grateful to have such wonderful clients this time around,” you responded to the shareholder.
“Well, if that is all, I believe we can adjourn the meeting?” you asked everyone, excited to end the meeting already.
“Ah, wait. I didn’t quite catch your name. What was it again?” The shareholder asked you.
“Oh, it’s y/n,”
“You did well, y/n,”
“Oh, no, really, I owe it all to my team leader, Soomin-ssi right there,” you pointed towards your surprised team leader.
“Oh gosh, no, no. He was right, you did a great job y/n. You handled the presentation really well,” Soomin complimented you with her bright smile.
You were getting embarrassed so you simply nodded and smiled before shuffling back towards the monitor screen at the front of the room to take down the meeting slides from the screen.
“Alright then, this marks the closing of our workshop with PEWA then?” you heard Bomin’s voice asking the room, to which was responded with loud cheers by everyone.
Mr Ahn, the shareholder, thanked everyone another time and said his goodbye as he hurried out to leave for another one of his own appointments.
You smiled to yourself as you waited for the computer in front of you to shut down. How many days left were you to work here before going back to your own office? A week? A week plus? Oh, right. Your last day here would be next Friday.
When the computer finally shut down, you hurried back to your seat since Bomin was telling everyone to quiet down before he dismisses everyone for their lunch break.
As soon as you sat down, you felt Chani’s hand patting your head and you turned to smile at him briefly before returning your attention back to Bomin who was standing up by now.
“It has been great pleasure to work with you all,” Bomin said as he turns to look at Soomin. The both of them exchanged knowing smiles with one another.
“And of course, again, thank you, y/n, for delivering such a great presentation today!” he looked at you this time. You smiled and nodded at him.
“I mean, sure, I wasn’t expecting it to be this good considering that you’re just a high school graduate,” he added, still smiling at you.
You felt your smile freeze on your face.
Wha…t?
Suddenly, the whole room went quiet.
You licked your lips that was beginning to feel dry by now and your eyes searched the room for your team leader, who had an expression just as shocked as you were.
“Oh? Why is everyone so quiet? Didn’t you all know? Y/n is the only employee in the PEWA’s Comm’s Team who owns just a high school certificate,” Bomin asked, amused with everyone’s reaction.
You felt everyone’s eyes on you.
But how…? The only person who knew about this…was your company’s president—Mr Bae. Then how?
And in a quick second, you heard people’s voices talking all at once.
“What?? So we’re literally being educated by someone who has no skills in this field?”
“Wait, isn’t the Comms Team from PEWA the highest ranked team in their company? What??”
“Yah, are we being conned? We literally let that kid educate us throughout the workshop,”
“Bomin-ssi! How did you let an unqualified person like that have control over our staff??”
You lowered your head, unable to look at the people who have started talking about you.
Chani moved in his seat, unhappy with what was going on in the room.
“O-okay, everyone, quiet down. Meeting is over,” you heard Soomin’s voice say.
Though you could hear no one listening to her. They continued talking to one another, dissatisfaction spewing out of their mouths non-stop.
“Yahh what an embarrassment!”
“Omg and to think she’s been working with us for almost two years. Just how did she get into the company??”
“Soomin-ssi, did you know this? Is that why you favour her over us?? We’ve been working by your side for years and yet you never let us do any of your tasks for you! Yet, you’ve asked her plenty of times!” you heard one of your team members asking Soomin.
Great. Now your own team is turning on you. You grip the sides of your pants, your head feeling heavy from all the loud voices you’re hearing.
“Would everyone, please, just quiet down—” Soomin tried to calm the room but she was interrupted by Bomin’s voice,
“Aigoo. I didn’t know this would bring so much chaos. I’m so sorry, y/n.”
You could hear the smirk from his voice even when you’re not looking at him. This man…just what is he thinking?
The room wasn’t getting any quieter, yet, it seemed like everyone has started asking questions.
“Omo omo, how did you even get the job to be in PEWA?? Did you use a back door??”
“My gosh, imagine if half of the PEWA Group was actually made up of staff that are underqualified,”
“Hey, don’t start spouting nonsense!” you heard Soomin arguing back.
You couldn’t take this. How did this happen? Everything was going so well. How did it all turn so badly in a blink of an eye??
You stood up from your seat, making the loud noise in the room lessen, but then you could still hear some of them whispering to one another.
You lift your head to look at Bomin. “Thank you, for congratulating me on my efforts today.”
“And yes, what Bomin-ssi said was true. But I assure you all, none of the PEWA staff are underqualified.” You swallowed a breath before continuing, “I am the only staff that has…just a high school certificate.”
“Gasp! This is so funny! We literally let someone like her lead the workshop??”
“Tsk, Soomin-ssi, I’m so disappointed in you. I was wondering why a newbie like her was added into our team so suddenly. You must’ve felt sorry for her,”
You felt a pang of hurt in your chest. You didn’t like how Soomin was getting dragged into this. If anything at all, Soomin had been the nicest person to you in your company.
“I…I’m so sorry,” you apologised. You could feel your eyes tearing up. “I’m so sorry,” you bowed at everyone.
“What? No, y/n, no this isn’t your fault,” you heard Soomin say.
You grabbed your bag under the table and backed away from your seat. Your eyes fell upon Chani.
He had a surprised look on his face as well. He shook his head at you, noticing your tight grip on your bag. It seemed like he knew what was on your mind right now.
“I’m sorry,” you whispered before running out of the meeting room.
As soon as the door closed behind you, Chani heard the whole room talking all at once again. He was getting tired of the loud noise.
He got up and marched towards Bomin.
“Yes, intern? Is there something—” Bomin’s word was cut off as he felt Chani’s fist landing against his right cheek, causing him to fall to the floor.
“Get up.” Chani said. “I said, get up!”
Bomin huffed angrily as he got up on his feet. He swung his arm and punched Chani in his stomach.
Chani groaned loudly in pain. “You piece of shi—”
“What? You’re gonna curse? That’s the best you could do??” Bomin taunts him, a smirk on his lips.
Chani grabbed Bomin by his collar and gritted his teeth, “Yah, Bomin! You have really crossed the line this time!”
“Aw? Why? Did you feel bad because you couldn’t stand up for your friend like last time?” Bomin scoffs, “I wonder how she’d react though? Because as I recall, back then, it didn’t work out well with you and your old friend, no?”
“Why you—” Chani was about to punch him again when Soomin stepped in between them to stop them.
“Stop it you two! Everyone is watching!” she whispered loud enough for the both of them to hear.
Chani looked around the room and noticed that what she said was true. Everyone else had stopped talking now and were focused on the little fight going on between him and Bomin.
Chani pushes Bomin roughly aside and glared at him.
Bomin shook his head, his annoying smirk still visible on his face. He fixed his collar as he said, “Tsk. Violence doesn’t always work out, you know,”
“Shut up,”
“Okay that’s it, you both. Enough.” Soomin chimed. “And the rest of yous! Leave the meeting room! Quit staring already!”
Everyone else in the room slowly gathered their stuff, some of them still whispering to each other as they left the room.
All three of them stayed quiet as they watched the rest of the staff leave the room.
And as soon as the last person exited the room, Soomin quickly closed the door and turned back to look at the two men in front of her.
“Have you both no shame?? Fighting like that in front of everyone?? And you, Bomin, why did you have to say that about y/n?!”
Bomin kept quiet, not knowing what to say as he notices how angry his girlfriend was with him.
Chani clicked his tongue. “Pfft. Doesn’t feel nice, does it? Having your girlfriend being mad at you. Maybe you should’ve thought more clearly before creating a mess like this, idiot,”
“Wait—you know?” Soomin asked him.
“What don’t I know?” Chani answered smugly. “Look, I’d love to tell you everything I know about your boyfriend but right now, I can’t stand to be in here.”
Chani approached Bomin again to say, “You may think that you’ve won this again, but I’m telling you, I’m not letting you get away with this. I told you before, not to hurt y/n. You…I’ll deal with you when I get home, hyung.”
With that, Chani shot him a piercing glare before leaving him and Soomin alone in the room.
“…hyung?” Soomin looked at Bomin questioningly.

 YGE Building (Treasure’s Practice Room)
“and 5,6,7,8—bam bam bam dda, dda da da da ddum!” Hyunsuk’s voice chanted as he guided his group’s movements according to his beat count.
“Okay, and then after this part here,” Hyunsuk stepped out of his spot in the formation and demonstrated another move to his friends, “After the right leg out part, step out your left leg further front and then we all turn clockwise before we enter the next formation, got it?”
“Okay hyung,” Jihoon answered.
“Okay let’s all try individually for a while, I’ll count,” Hyunsuk said. “ and 5,6,7,8— bam bam bam dda, dda da da da ddum, okay, right leg, left out, turn! Alright, NICE!” Hyunsuk cheered as he notices everyone’s movements sync with his count even when they’re all practicing on their own.
“Woooo yeah!” Mashiho cheered as well, his charming smile beaming. He wipes the sweat on his forehead with the towel he grabbed from his bag and complimented everyone on their hard work.
“Yayyyy! We’re good to go for the first part of this song! Great job everyone!” Jaehyuk said this time.
Hyunsuk showed a thumbs up at everyone. He walked towards the water dispenser and poured himself a cup of water to drink.
Jihoon approached him and pat his back before getting himself a cup of drink as well. “Great job today, hyung,”
“You too, Hoon-aa, good job.”
“Hyung, will we be leaving for lunch later then?” both the leaders heard Yedam ask, making both of them turn around.
“Yeah, sure. Text the kids too, and tell them that we’ll meet them at the cafeteria later on,” Hyunsuk answered, reminding Yedam to inform the maknaes whom were in school to meet them later when they get to the building.
Jihoon left his hyung’s side to approach Junkyu who was sitting on the floor, chatting with Haruto, Yoshi and Asahi.
“…and then before you proceed to the next level, make sure you collect the diamonds from the hidden bags in the rooms—” Haruto explained to Asahi, his fingers moving as he tapped on his phone.
Junkyu and Asahi nods at his explanation, trying to understand what he was showing them.
“What are you kids watching?” Jihoon asks as soon as he sits down beside Junkyu.
“Haruto’s just explaining how this game he’s been obsessed with works,” Junkyu answered, his eyes still plastered on Haruto’s phone screen.
“Tsk, it seems like a lot of work though,” Asahi said, making Yoshi giggle.
“Yahh hyung! Just—just watch how I do it first. It’s easy!” Haruto insisted as he pushed his screen closer to Asahi.
Junkyu turns to Jihoon who was amused by Haruto’s nagging, “No kidding, hyung. This is the second time he’s explained it to me. It’s still confusing to me,” he complained.
Jihoon nods, “Sure Junkyu. Oh right, what are you having for lunch later?”
“I’m not sure yet. I’ll see what choices they have on the menu today I guess,” Junkyu shrugs back at him.
Suddenly, they all heard a loud knock on their practice room’s door.
‘knock knock knock’
“Oh? Someone’s knocking on the door?” Hyunsuk asked.
‘KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK’ the knocking was louder this time.
“My gosh, who would knock like that??” Jihoon asked this time. “Who is it??” Jihoon yelled, asking the person outside the door.
The door opened to reveal a flustered-looking Chani.
“Chani?” Yedam asked, surprised.
Chani enters the room, looking around for something—or someone.
His eyes landed on Junkyu.
“Yah, Kim Junkyu. Where is she?”
Junkyu turns around to look behind him. He turns back to the front to look at Chani who was standing not too far from him. “Me?”
Chani rolls his eyes at Junkyu’s confused expression. “Yes, I’m talking to you obviously. Quit playing dumb. I know the both of you are kinda close to each other so just spill it. Where’s she?”
“Where’s who??” Junkyu asked, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion.
“Oh my god. Are you really gonna keep it at this??”
“Hey hey, chill it, Chani. That’s your hyung you’re talking to,” Jihoon reminded him.
“I don’t have time for this, hyung! Y/n! Where’s y/n?!” Chani responds rather impatiently.
Everyone in the room exchanged puzzled looks with one another. Is Chani drunk or something? Obviously they all hadn’t met you today—let alone hang out with you after the small dispute Junkyu had with you.
Chani noticed how clueless everyone looked, making his expression soften. “Wait…no way…none of you’ve seen her?”
Everyone shook their heads.
“Agh, this is crazy!” Chani exclaims as he ruffles his own hair. “I’ve been trying to call her but she hadn’t been answering,”
Hyunsuk approaches the frustrated looking man who was standing in the middle of their practice room. “Why? Did y/n not come to work today?”
Chani lets out an exasperated sigh. “Hyung…you gotta help me find y/n. Bomin-hyung…he did it again…”
Hyunsuk’s eyes widened upon hearing this. “Wh-what?”
“He’s trying to drive y/n away from me, hyung! He said something during our meeting that made y/n ran off and now, now—” Chani swallowed his breath before continuing, “I can’t find her anywhere!”
“What…?” Junkyu’s voice said, earning the attention of everyone in the room.
Junkyu was already standing by now, his concern rising as he heard Chani’s story.
“I thought you’d know where she is, hyung!” Chani exclaimed.
Junkyu shook his head at the younger man. “Whatever. Thanks for telling us what happened, Chani,” He immediately walks away from everyone and heads for the door.
“Wait, Junkyu, where are you going??” Jihoon asked him.
“What’s it look like I’m doing?? I’m gonna go look for y/n!”

Ok hear me out. I’ve listened to “Sway with me (slowed)” by Cytus II and I have this whole imagine of the reader at a masquerade ball as an undercover agent, and as The Wammy Bois (preferably L or Near) S/O or crush. Well the situation turns for the worst and L (or near) rushes out into the party (he was originally watching on cams) to get a hold of the situation to either like confront the Bad Guy or just protect the reader. Idk I think about it when I listen to the song. Love your writing btw
Aww thanks anon, I'm glad you like my writing! And damn, I like this one a lot! This calls for a fic. Thanks for requesting! (Not me accidentally making this somewhat like that ball scene in Black Butler.. oof)
For this I chose L and decided not to do Near, I hope that's okay.

The night was young, the sun had only just set below the horizon plunging the city into darkness. At 8PM this night there was a masquerade ball at a very wealthy businessman's mansion. As all the high society guests exited their limousines and luxury cars escorted by servants you stood staring at the lavish mansion.
"I feel so out of place here... Do I really blend in enough?" You quietly asked Watari who stood beside you as your "servant". You shifted uncomfortably and looked to him for an answer.
"Yes, of course you do. You fit in very well. Please do not worry, I'm sure you will be alright in there." He bowed before reentering the drivers seat of the vehicle you'd arrived in. You took a deep breath before carefully ascending the marble stairs leading to he door. Before you could be noticed by anyone in particular, you placed the earpiece you had been provided in your ear disguising it with your hair.
Unlike the other guests, tonight wasn't about enjoyment or entertainment for you. You were assisting with an investigation into one of the high class men attending this party known as Daniel Grant. He had been suspected of human trafficking, though it seems he had been doing more than just that. A recent investigation by the private investigator known only to the public as L suggested that he may potentially be behind multiple murders in the area. As it happens, you were the lynchpin in solving this case and getting the evidence needed to put Daniel Grant and all involved behind bars.
He seemed to target young people between the ages of 18 and 25. As it happens, you were perfect for that role. You were also a police officer. So only two weeks ago, you had been asked to assist the one and only L. Of course, when he contacted you, you were overjoyed. Finally, something more interesting than petty crime! But now, as you entered the lavish mansion you were far less confident than you were when you initially joined.
You knew L was watching the camera feeds from the CCTV system, but it still didn't calm your nerves. You nervously approached the table where the guest sign in book was placed, carefully signing your alias. Then you made your way to the ballroom where the party was held. You took a deep breath and adjusted your mask before entering into the room.
Inside, everyone was chatting amongst themselves every single person dressed very formally, women in beautiful ballgowns, men in fancy suits. Every single one wore a masquerade mask, some plain and simple, some adorned with gemstones, lace and other ornate designs. Everyone went silent when one man tapped his glass with a fork.
"Hello everyone, I'd like to thank you for attending tonight. Thank you all for celebrating my niece's 20th birthday with us" He motioned to a young girl blonde girl wearing a dark pink dress with a black lace mask. Everyone gave a short applause in response. "Please enjoy yourselves" He bowed slightly. You hadn't known this was a birthday party beforehand. You wondered what Daniel Grant had to do with this girl. About 20 minutes into the party, you decided to check in with L as you hadn't heard a thing from him since you arrived. You excused yourself to the bathroom.
"L are you listening?" You asked quietly and waited for a response.
"Yes, I am, is anything wrong?" He asked. You shook your head before you realized he couldn't see you right now, there were no cameras in the bathroom.
"N..No, I haven't seen Daniel yet either... I was just making sure you were there." you hurriedly replied.
"Mmh, I'll guide you to him if you would like, I can see him on the cameras." He replied clearly eating something.
"Okay, please do!" You left the bathroom and reentered the ballroom doing your best to hide the fact that you were scanning the room for the suspect. L's voice came over the earpiece again, this time instructing you to look for a woman in an emerald green dress near the center of the room. You entered the crowd of guests. Your eyes widened slightly when you saw the woman L had been talking about. She was in fact talking to Daniel Grant. They seemed to know each other. You stayed back, waiting for L to say something.
"Seems like you found them, stay back for a little while, I'll tell you when to approach" He said. You of course didn't respond since you were surrounded by others in earshot. You casually checked your pockets and approached another guest making small talk to kill time. You had taken your eyes off of him for a second, and the moment you looked back, the niece was talking to him. L seemed to notice as well.
"Daniel is currently talking to an important innocent. Please intervene now." You looked around the room before casually approaching the two.
"Hello, I came to wish you a happy birthday!" You said, sort of putting yourself between them. She nodded, thanking you and went back to talking with Daniel. You sighed in annoyance, but persisted.
"Hey, could you by any chance show me to the washroom? I've been looking for it and I just can't find it" You asked. She looked at Daniel, excusing herself from their conversation before leading you to said washroom.
"I'm sorry for inconveniencing you... Oh.. and I think it would be best if you stayed away from that man." She gave you a quizzical look.
"Why is that? He's one of my mother's friends." She asked. You were kind of shocked. Another detail L had left out. You questioned if he trusted you before ultimately banishing the thought. Of course he trusted you. You wouldn't be the one confronting the guy if he didn't.
"Just trust me, he's no good" You warned. It was clear that she didn't take your words seriously whatsoever. She scoffed and left. Now what? You wondered. And just like that, L's voice came through again.
"I want you to talk to him, try your best to get him away from her." Immediately you left the bathroom and made your way back to the ballroom again. By now, there were a few people dancing. Unfortunately Daniel seemed to be one of them, but you had a plan. Dance your way to him! You started off with a tall man with a purple tie, then to an average height lady in a light blue dress, then a lady with a fuchsia pink dress, and so on until finally, you were dancing with Daniel.
"You're the person who rudely interrupted my lovely conversation with the guest of honor" He observed. His voice was cold, though there was a tinge of intrigue.
"And what of it?" You sort of snapped. He smirked, it sent chills up your spine. You backed away slightly, but he closed the distance.
"Oooh, I like them feisty" He growled into your ear. You couldn't help your face twisting in disgust at that.
"Why don't we go... somewhere more private" He suggested. It was then that L's voice came on through your earpiece.
"Go with him, I want to see what he'll do" You gulped. You really didn't want to go anywhere with that creep. But L's orders... You nodded and Daniel led you upstairs. You both stood in front of a bedroom door. He opened it, directing you to go inside. As you did, his eyes seemed to undress you. It was then that he took out a dagger holding it to your neck.
Meanwhile, L sat in his temporary investigation headquarters observing your actions. He had just stuck a piece of cake in his mouth when you had been attacked. He had not expected Daniel to be armed. You were in grave danger and he knew it. He immediately stood up, the fork clattered to the ground and the plate the cake had been on shattered as it hit the floor. He didn't care.
"Y/N, hang in there, I'll be there soon" he quickly said to you before rushing to get Watari and speed off to the party. The car ride seemed to take forever. Every second of it, he watched and listened. Daniel seemed to be just threatening you for the time being, but at any second, he might just kill you. The very second they arrived, L clumsily jumped out of the car and rushed up the stairs to the manor, past the guards outside and up another flight of stairs to where you were.
L had for the first time in his life, brought a gun in case things got even more ugly, but he doubted he'd need it. Daniel didn't seem like the type to be bold enough to kill in front of another person. Even so, he gripped the gun before entering.
"Let them go!" L commanded. Daniel's head snapped in his direction.
"Get out, this is none of your business" Daniel said, turning back to you.
"It is my business, that happens to by my significant other you have there." You blinked. Significant other? Is he acting? You thought before mentally reprimanding yourself for thinking that now. L moved a little closer.
"Oh.... She is... I'm sorry" Daniel backed away. It was kind of comical how he looked like a scolded dog. You stood up and walked towards L, glancing back a few times at Daniel to ensure he wasn't going to get violent again. And without another word, L led you out of the manor to safety. Though there was one question burning in your chest. When you were safely in the car you decided to voice it.
"L... Do you actually like me?" L turned to you, his expression was completely unreadable.
"Yes" He said almost monotonously. But that was good enough for you.

A dumb analysis of OH3 well, of the chapters we have for now by a dumb person (aka me) if you might care idk
Alright. I've finished playing the available chapters for Open Heart. I'm glad I did because I've formed my own opinion. Let me know what you think because I'm curious.
Let's begin with the last sex scene.
It wasn't bad at all but I do understand why people would have found uncomfortable Ethan's proposition. Needless to say, if you don't romance Ethan and you still received such peculiar offer, I understand why you might have laughed at the screen. Pixelberry has a strong, strong, strong, strong preference for him and we all know this. They don't even try to hide it. But they probably have to contractually put every offer for diamond scene and for every LI even if you don't have a relationship with them.*** This connects to their huge preference for Ethan, since he has so much screen time, and well... basically, I'm very sorry for people that don't like dr. Ramsey because I'm sure they say no to him A LOT.
A thing that bothered me was that Ethan proposed something so intimate while still in the hospital. They could have at least went outside or in a more private area. You don't want coworkers or patients to hear this type of things. Especially since Ethan made clear many times that he doesn't mix private life with work. And he fails every time to separate the two things: Harper, MC, the shitty decision. He even made out with MC in his office and I'm sure at a certain point they'll offer a sex scene in there.
Didn't he have a dog? Did they die? Where the fuck is the dog. I ask this because if I remember correctly in the first book he said he had one but no one knows or has seen it. Was he hallucinating? What if he invented it because he was lonely?
I'm joking of course but I really wanna know where his dog is.
There are some "improvements" that I noticed.
Improvements that still need to be improved, that is.
So, they're giving more screen time to our friends. Slightly and slowly but they're doing it. It's still not enough, though.
And they're somewhat changing their personality, I kinda noticed? I'm not sure this is an improvement.
I can't represent people who have other characters as LIs (they are surely paying more attention to them so they'll be more adapt to speak about this, if they agree with me) but Jackie not saying how bad the intern was when she fucking fat-shamed a patient? Yo? Jackie what's going on?
Sienna is becoming slightly more "badass". She's always been a bad bitch, let me be clear, but she's showing her tough side a little bit more. I like it.
Keep in mind that I finished playing OH2 recently, so I still freshly remember her behaviour towards Mitch. In this book, I believe she is the one to have the least screen time of the whole gang.
Elijah is a sweetheart, really. Remember when I said that they're kinda "changing" the characters' personalities? With Elijah they're doing the opposite. They're fully going with sugar and optimism. This might be an unpopular opinion but it's like if he almost doesn't want to see that his boss might be a snake? It's okay though. Keep doing your research babes, I'll punch Bloom. And Ethan.
Bryce. The scalpel jokey has made a mistake. It's one of the few changes I like. Bryce has always been charismatic and confident but we also knew (more or less) that, even if he is obviously a pure talent, some of that confidence is a facade. I like that he, well, fucked up a little because it makes you remember that he's human. And I've always had a crush on Bryce, I mean how could you not. He will jump back on his feet, he always does.
I just wanna go back to Jackie for a moment. I know that some of you might object saying that she is taking care of her intern and being a bitch is not going to help, showing that she's human (the process that's going on with Bryce) too but idk, Jackie not calling you out on your bs? Why would she do that? And it wasn't just a small mistake, the intern already had difficulties with some medical procedures and lacked of some basic respect towards a patient. I don't know, I'm not convinced.
I honestly can't tell who has the least romantic scenes, if Jackie or Raphael.
I know Aurora's stans are laughing at me after reading this.
BUT why isn't Rafael coming to live with us? I mean, why not? What's stopping him?
I really like you Rafael.
Oh btw, if you think that the plot could have been better with Rafael's death, ding dong your opinion is wrong.
I'm happy we cyber-bullied PB about it.
I have another question: if you don't romance neither Bryce or Rafael, why couldn't they be a couple? They'd be so cute together, the Slytherin and Hufflepuff relationship we all need.
Idk, just think about it.
Aurora's stans I didn't forget about you.
How's life? How does it feel to work with your girlfriend's aunt?
This is another unpopular opinion: I don't like dr. Harper. But I'll glady marry her niece.
Who wouldn't marry Aurora, come on now
I feel bad because in the beginning I really didn't like her but now I'd beg her to step on me
Oh wait she's not our gf because PIXELBERRY IS A BITCH
Whatever, I don't care. She will be.
I'll write fanfictions about Aurora and I'll spam them to PB.
She's just so beautiful and perfect djksoso
Sorry, I got carried away.
ANYWAAAAYSSSSS, yeah I have not much to say about her. She's great. Not enough scenes like usual but yeah.
Are Kyra's stans still here?
I have no idea what's going on about Kyra because I let her travel away from that fucking hospital
So I'm not sure. If you asked her to stay, does the story change?
Oh, the thing about changing the characters' personalities obviously applies to Ethan too. To be honest, I'm not that surprised about him breaking the rules for his ideals but coherency is not his strongest suit, is it?
Book 2 was all about being cold and rational and blah blah blah. But he clearly didn't think enough about this. Oh well.
It happens, we've all been in front of a court because we might have fucked a patient's life in one way or another.
But you might have caused trouble to Elijah too man, and THAT'S where I cross the line.
Plus, dr. Harper immediately jumping to fire MC without even knowing if it was them but then admitting that if she'd known it was Ethan, she wouldn't have said shit.
I'm shaking my head. Really bitch? Whatever.
OH AND TOBIAS, RIGHT.
Tobias. I wouldn't exactly pick a diamond scene with him because it would feel like a betrayal (even if I know that other LIs wouldn't care) but I would be so tempted.
I really like him too. I hope PB won't make him a bad guy.
That's it for now. English is not my first language so I apologize for mistakes I didn't notice.
Let me know what you think because I really wanna speak about this book with someone and I hope someone feels the same lol
*** UPDATE: I'm not deleting that particular part just to help you have a better context about what I was thinking ("hey, this scene is coming, are you interested in spending diamonds for it even though it doesn't match the path you're choosing? Our company wants you to and we have to follow their rules") but after a few answers, I've been informed that THEY'RE NOT OBLIGED IN ANYWAY TO OFFER YOU PREMIUM CHOICES WITH LOVE INTERESTS YOU HAVE NOTHING TO DO so yeah, just letting you know lol

Begin and End There (Part 2)
For Day 6 of the Supernatural Deserved Better Creative Challenge (prompt: Destiel).
Note: This is Chapter 2 of 2; you can find the post with Chapter 1 here, or you can read the entire work on Ao3.
Rating: T
Relationships: Castiel/Dean Winchester, minor Dean Winchester & Sam Winchester, minor Castiel & Sam Winchester, background Eileen Leahy/Sam Winchester
Warnings: Brief, non-graphic mentions of canon violence; reference to Dean’s suicidal ideation/decision to temporarily kill himself in 13x05; references to repeated major character death that didn’t stick - to be clear, this fic has a happy ending and is basically everything Dean needed to say and Cas needed to hear.
Summary: After the Empty takes him, Castiel wakes up in the last place he expected (Chapter 1), with a second chance at happiness when he reunites with Dean and the latter finally gets to speak his truth (Chapter 2).
-----------------------------------------------------------------
“Love him, and let him love you. Do you think anything else under heaven really matters?” —James Baldwin, Giovanni’s Room
********************
“Dean.” Sam’s voice was imploring, gentle, just like it had been the first two times he’d tried. “Come on, sit down.”
Dean ignored him and continued pacing, the cramped stillness of the motel room a vicious sounding board for his thoughts. Among them all, he clung to one thought in particular, the only one keeping him sane: Jack’s gonna get him back. He said he would. He has to...
He could feel Sam’s worried gaze on him from where his brother sat in a chair by the door. It had been Sam who had insisted they grab the motel room after Jack had gone, having intuited, rightly, that Dean was a mess even if he was trying to hide it and that he needed somewhere private where he didn’t have to. The only problem was that, for Dean, privacy in the sense of space to break down meant an audience of zero, not one, and Dean didn’t know how much longer he could hold himself together.
“Damn it, Sam,” he growled a minute later, “don’t you and Eileen have stuff to talk about? You don’t gotta hang around like a damn babysitter.”
If Sam was annoyed by Dean’s tone, he didn’t show it; instead, he just leaned forward, folding his hands in his lap. “We do, but it can wait,” he said calmly. "Besides, you heard her: someone had to go back to the silo and make sure all the Apocalypse-world hunters made it back okay. She said she’d text me when she got there.”
Dean huffed out a sigh. “Yeah, well...Still. You could’ve gone with her, is all I’m sayin’.”
“No. Not until I know you’re okay.”
“I’m fine.”
“Dean, enough.” Sam was frowning now, and there was an edge to his voice that hadn’t been there a moment ago. “You think I don’t know what Cas means to you?” He scoffed and shook his head. “Because if so, I’m sorry, but you’re not as hard to read as you think you are, not for me.”
Dean stopped dead in his tracks, stunned, and as he wilted under Sam’s knowing gaze, the full force of his exhaustion hit him all at once and damn near brought him to his knees. “I can’t lose him,” he heard himself admit in a hoarse whisper. He swallowed and shook his head. “Not again.”
Sam’s expression softened. “I know. We’ll get him back; if Jack can’t save him, we’ll find another way. We always do.”
Dean sighed, then nodded. Sam was right; of course he was. They’d get Cas back even if Dean had to storm into the Empty and grab him himself, grip Cas’s formerly feathered ass and raise him from perdition for a change. Cas, you idiot, what the hell’s the matter with you? he imagined himself demanding. You don’t think you deserve to be saved?
Suddenly, there was a shuffling sound outside, and before Sam could even begin to stand, Dean had bolted across the room and yanked open the door, determined to hear whatever news Jack was bringing them so that he could actually do something instead of just waiting, only...only it wasn’t Jack standing on the other side of the threshold.
Cas gazed back at him as though in a daze, hand raised in an aborted knock; after a beat, he lowered it and cleared his throat. “I—Hello, Dean.” He nodded past Dean toward the interior of the room. “May I come in?”
Dean nodded wordlessly, feet suddenly like lead as he stepped aside so Cas could brush past him. He closed the door and sank down on the edge of the nearest bed as Sam let out an exclamation of relief and stood to pull Cas into a hug.
“It’s good to have you back, man,” Sam said warmly, clapping Cas on the back. As they drew apart, he added, “How’s Jack? Did you have a chance to talk with him?”
Cas nodded, smiling. “I did. He told me everything that’s happened since…” Cas’s smile faltered, and his eyes darted over to land on Dean, who suddenly felt as though his face were on fire. Before Dean could say anything, though, Cas looked away, as though he were the one who’d been burned. “He told me everything,” he said instead. “He also said that he’ll be home as soon as he’s able, once he and Amara have finished remaking Heaven.”
Sam raised a brow, glancing curiously from Cas to Dean and back again; clearly, he’d clearly picked up on the weirdness between them. For a moment, Dean thought he was going to call them out on it and started casting about for something innocuous to say; however, Sam just smiled and nodded. “That’s great, Cas. Thanks for the update. And for saving Dean. If you hadn’t gone with him…” Sam swallowed, a more sober expression settling on his face. He reached out and clasped Cas’s shoulder. “Just...thank you. For everything.”
The genuineness of Sam’s words seemed to catch Cas off guard; then, after a moment, his lips quirked in a timid sort of smile, and he nodded. “Of course.”
Sam beamed at him, then took a step back and gestured toward the door. “Okay, I’m gonna go grab lunch while I wait to hear from Eileen, so I’ll see you guys later.” Then, with a poorly concealed smirk, he looked over at Dean and added, “Text me if I should steer clear of the Bunker for a few days.”
Dean glared daggers at him. Sammy, I swear to our kid who is now God...“How ’bout you just get a move on before I kick your ass? Bitch.”
But Sam just chuckled. “Good luck, jerk,” he replied, fondly; then, with a wave, he turned and headed for the door.
A moment later, he was gone, and the room was unbearably silent. Dean glanced up at Cas to find the latter regarding him almost shyly, as though any words uttered between them would bring the walls crashing down. For his part, Dean would have almost welcomed it. A quick death sounded pretty good right about now; at the very least, it’d absolve him from having to speak.
In the end, it was Cas who cleared his throat and broke the silence. “Jack said you wanted to see me?”
“Uh.” Dean sucked in a shaky breath, then nodded. “Uh, yeah. Yeah, I did.” Then, feeling his face grow warm at Cas’s continued stare, he coughed and looked away. “Cas, have a seat. We, uh, we need to talk.”
He’d expected Cas to sit opposite him, in the chair Sam had vacated; but before he realized what was going on, Cas had crossed over to sit next to him on the edge of the bed, less than a foot of mattress between their thighs. The heat on Dean’s face licked down his neck and back, almost overwhelming him, and if his legs hadn’t suddenly turned to jelly, he probably would have bolted.
Instead, he just blurted out the first thing that came to mind: “So...Jack was able to get you back, huh?” He immediately wanted to kick himself, because of course Jack had been able to get Cas back, that much was obvious. Way to go, dumbass...
Thankfully, Cas just nodded. “He promised the Empty a future of noninterference within Its realm in exchange for my life, and It accepted.”
“Huh.” Dean chewed his tongue thoughtfully. “Sounds like one of us actually made a good deal for a change.”
Cas gave him a tentative smile. “I hope so.” A pause; then: “Dean, I need you to know that I don’t regret my choice, because that’s what it was: my choice; and there’s nothing you could have said or done that would have made me choose differently.” Cas was speaking quickly, urgently, looking at Dean as though afraid Dean would interrupt. “And I also need you to know that I meant every word that I said about how I see you. Now that Chuck is gone, you can finally be happy, and...if it’s possible, I would like to be part of that happiness.” He looked up at Dean sadly, adding, “but if that’s not what you want, if you want me to leave, I promise I understand.”
Dean, who up to this point had only been able to listen in stunned silence, finally managed to unstick his voice. “If that’s not what I...What are you...You think I don’t want you to be a part of it?”
“I...” Cas looked down at his hands. “I’m aware that my connection to Heaven is no longer of particular value, and more than that, I don’t wish the knowledge of what you mean to me to make you uncomfortable.” He smiled sadly. “You don’t owe me anything, Dean; I recognize that. I—”
“Stop,” Dean interrupted, because every word out of Cas’s mouth was landing like a knife in his heart. He reached out and gripped Cas’s shoulder tightly, causing the latter to look up in startled surprise. “Damn it, Cas, stop talking like I’d only want you in my life if you were a goddamn tool I could use. You’re not a hammer, remember? Not mine or anyone else’s.”
Cas’s stunned expression melted into one of soft wonder. He nodded slowly, gazing back at Dean with eyes so earnest and hopeful that Dean had to look away lest he fall right into them. With a nervous swallow, Dean licked his lips and dropped his hand from Cas’s shoulder, determined to keep going now that he’d gotten started. “And..and about me not owing you anything...Cas, I owe you everything.” He made himself meet Cas’s gaze again, because damn it, this was apparently something Cas had doubts on, and Dean needed him to understand. “You pulled me out of Hell, and you helped me and Sam stop the Apocalypse and saved both our asses more times than I can count, and Jack’s alive because of you and so is everyone else in the world. And you think what, that I’m just gonna forget about all that?” he demanded, just barely managing to keep his voice from breaking. He shook his head. “Fuck that, Cas; you’re not disposable.”
Cas, whose expression had become increasingly anguished the longer Dean spoke, now looked dangerously close to tears. “Then what am I, Dean? I...please, I need to know, I need you to tell me, because I don’t...I can’t...”
Everything, Dean thought fiercely; you’re everything. Fuck, he just needed to find some way to actually say it…
Suddenly, a thought occurred to him: maybe, if saying it out loud was too much...He closed his eyes and started praying. Cas?
He felt a slight shift of the mattress as Cas stiffened in attention. “Dean?” he asked, hesitantly.
Yeah. Yeah, I can hear you. Dean kept his eyes closed, responding in his head. Question is, can you hear me?
A beat of silence; then: “Yes. I can hear you.”
Dean let out a steady breath. Okay. Okay, good. ’Cause there’s something I need you know, but...He tried to finish the thought; damn it, he tried, but even like this, he just couldn’t fucking seem to—
Suddenly, he felt a hand on his shoulder; his eyes fluttered open to see Cas leaning forward into his space, looking at him with soft understanding. “There’s something you need me to know,” Cas repeated slowly, “but you’re not sure how to say it.”
Dean blinked in surprise. “You...you got that part, too?”
Cas nodded. “The way it works...It’s difficult to explain in human terms. Prayers are something I hear and see and feel, all at once, and they don’t have to be words. They can be feelings or images or—”
“Memories?” Dean sat up straight, an idea forming. “Does it work with memories?”
Cas’s brow furrowed in apparent confusion, but eventually, he nodded. “Yes. If you show them to me.”
Dean didn’t waste another moment—he couldn’t, or he might lose his nerve. He closed his eyes and resumed his prayer. Okay, Cas, listen up...
He was pulling Cas’s trench coat out of the reservoir after the Leviathans had walked Cas into it, and the feeling in his gut...Dean knew it was grief. He’d lost friends before; hell, he’d lost Sam before, but this...this felt different...
But the Leviathans were on the loose, and the wall blocking out Sam’s Hell trauma had crumbled, and Dean didn’t have time to let himself stop and think. He folded the trench coat and stowed it in Baby’s trunk.
Months later, he was talking to Cas in an abandoned hangar the night before they stormed Sucrocorp and went after Dick Roman. Cas was saying he should stay behind, told Dean he wasn’t good luck and would just get in the way, but Dean wasn't having it. He’d done life without Cas, and it had sucked. Now, he knew he’d rather have him, cursed or not, friend or...He’d rather have him.
He only told Cas the first part, though.
Then, after, when he was tearing through Purgatory for over a year, Dean realized it wasn’t that he’d rather have Cas—it was that he couldn’t imagine not having him. He was going to find Cas no matter the cost, wasn’t leaving Purgatory without him. Cas was...he wasn’t something Dean couldn’t stand to lose.
And then Dean lost him anyway.
Dean was back topside, and Cas was still in Purgatory because Dean had failed to save him. The knowledge haunted Dean; he saw Cas everywhere, was sure he was hallucinating...until it turned out he wasn’t. And then he learned that Cas had made the conscious choice to stay behind, because apparently, Dean was something he could stand to lose, and that knowledge hurt in a way Dean didn’t have words for.
So they didn’t talk about it.
Then Dean was kneeling, bloodied, in Lucifer’s crypt, Cas standing over him with his angel blade raised. And Dean didn’t know what was going on, but he knew, he knew, that this wasn’t his Cas. His Cas. The words were loud in his mind, and he was both awed and terrified of how right they felt. He needed Cas, and he told him so...and Cas’s angel blade fell to the floor.
They didn’t talk about that much, either.
Years went by, and now Dean was the one standing over a bloodied, crumpled Cas, the Mark of Cain burning on his arm and Cas’s stolen blade in hand. He needed to hurt Cas, or for Cas to hurt him, to fight back and end the goddamn constant screaming in Dean’s head that was all blood and rage and hate and—Cas’s hand came up to gently clasp Dean’s wrist. “No, Dean...please.” And for a second, just a second, the hate in Dean’s mind was quiet, and in its place, strong, surging, and undeniable, was—
Dean stabbed the book next to Cas’s head and walked away.
Next, he was standing in a barn with his mom and Sam and Crowley, watching in terrified helplessness as Cas writhed in agony on an old couch. Ramiel could come for them at any moment, and yet all Dean could think about was the intensity in Cas’s eyes as Cas told him, told all of them, that he loved them, and fuck, Dean loved him, too, but not the familial sort of love that Cas seemed to be getting at, no. Dean loved him in a raw, real sense that he felt in his bones and that scared him half out of his mind, and he wanted to say it; but then Cas was convulsing, and it was too late…
Then Crowley snapped Ramiel’s spear, and Cas was saved, and Dean told himself that enough was enough, he needed to get his shit together and find some way to tell Cas what he felt before—
He was kneeling, silent, on the shore of a lake. The sky was starless overhead, and Cas was dead on the ground in front of him, wings scorched against the sand. And Dean was aching and empty, hollowed out by grief and regret, because he’d waited too long, and now it was too late…
And then he was dead, or something like it. He was in Death’s library and Billie was showing him the shelf of books with his name on the cover, detailing all the possible ways he could die, and Dean should have felt fear, should have felt fight, but instead, all he felt was finally. He hadn’t been able to save the people he loved, hadn’t been able to save Cas, so what was the point of going back? Sam would be better off without him, would get a shot at the normal life he’d always wanted. Billie could toss Dean in the Empty; he didn’t care anymore. Hell, he wanted it, anything to end all his goddamn regret—
But Billie sent him back anyway, and later that night, Dean’s phone rang.
Cas was back. He was alive and he was back, and fuck, he was so much more than Dean deserved. And Dean told himself that he was okay with that, with not having Cas in the way that he wanted, as long as he had him in some way, shape, or form. But then Jack killed Mary, and Dean...he was so angry and hurt that he lashed out at Cas, said horrible things he didn’t mean but didn’t know how to take back once they were out, and he couldn’t even look at Cas without wanting to scream and break and beg for forgiveness. He watched as Cas left him after they fought, left him like everyone else did, and Dean let him, because he knew now that needing someone wasn’t the same as deserving them.
Then they were back in Purgatory after a botched attempt at securing a Leviathan Blossom. They’d been ambushed, and Dean had been knocked out, had woken up alone with Cas nowhere in sight and limited time to make it back. And Dean knew he still didn’t deserve Cas, but he prayed to him anyway. He told Cas about the hurt and the anger and the helplessness he felt when it took hold of him, and he was sorry, God, he was so fucking sorry…
When he found Cas at the last moment at the base of a tree, he wanted...he needed to tell Cas what he hadn’t had the nerve to say in his prayer, because it was so much more than of course I forgive you; it was please forgive me, I know I don’t fucking deserve you but I want you, I need you, I love you…
But they had to go, because as always, there was never enough fucking time.
And then they were trapped in the Bunker’s interrogation room as Billie pounded on the door. Cas was going to die, and it was Dean’s fault, again it was his fault, because he’d screwed up, because he’d been stupid and angry and that was all he knew how to be—
But then Cas was talking with tears in his eyes, and each word was its own revelation, because Cas was looking at him the way Dean had never in a million years thought to be worthy of. And Dean forgot how to breathe, because suddenly, Cas was saying it, he said it: “I love you…”
And then the Empty took him, and Billie, and Dean was left alone on the floor. He was dimly aware of the way Sam’s name flashed on his phone, but he couldn’t answer, because then he’d have to explain, and…and...
Dean cradled his head in his hands and sobbed. He felt like his entire soul had been lit on fire and that every word he’d ever known had been ripped out of him by the roots, all except for the two he murmured, strangled and broken, into the silence: “Me too...”
Dean gasped and ended the prayer. He opened his eyes and felt tears roll down his cheeks; he hadn’t noticed them forming while he’d been praying, and he was about to reach up to dash them away when he saw that Cas’s face was wet with tears of his own; he looked more wrecked than Dean had ever seen him, and the hand he’d kept on Dean’s shoulder throughout the prayer had started to tremble. “Dean, I—”
“Look,” Dean said shakily, because if he didn’t say this now, he didn’t know if he ever could. “I...I know you said happiness isn't really in the having and all that, but...well, I think maybe it is. For me, anyway. Because Cas, if there’s one thing I’ve learned after all the crap we’ve been through, it’s that my life ain’t happy if it doesn’t have you in it.” He swallowed a lump in his throat and pushed on: “You said you thought you couldn’t have me, but the thing is, you’ve had me for years. And I just...I need you to hear me, I need you to know…” He almost stopped then, almost couldn’t go on, because the look of absolute love in Cas’s eyes was overwhelming, and Dean could no more deny it than he could give up breathing. He raised his hand, placed it firmly on top of the one on his shoulder, and squeezed. “You changed me too, Cas.”
Then Cas was kissing him, and Dean let out a muffled sob of relief as he felt Cas’s hands wrap around his middle and pull them flush against one another. His grip was hot and desperate on Dean’s back, and the way his mouth moved against Dean’s made Dean feel as though he were going to burst into millions of joyous pieces. He tangled his hands in Cas’s hair and kissed him hard, tugging him backward until Cas was straddling him on the mattress, his solid, unyielding weight a blissful, dizzying contrast to the lightness Dean felt in his mind as Cas’s tongue slid surely over his own, ravishing and reverent and real. They were real, and they always had been.
And Dean would never, ever doubt that again.

do you ever wonder about what mike's arrest would have been like, angst and story wise, if mike and harvey had been together at that point in time? because i do. like all the time haha. i saw a post on here talking about that once and i haven't stopped thinking about it since!!
Gallo wouldn't have made it to the end of the season alive, that's for sure. Nobody puts the love of Harvey Specter's life in danger, pal, you can bet on that much.
No, okay, with the usual caveat of "let's pretend Suits has a little self-awareness and can carry out the emotional repercussions of a heavy plotline for more than five minutes," it sure would've been... Well, I think it would be very similar in some ways, and very different in others. As it is, Harvey dedicates himself body and soul to getting Mike out of prison, and them being together obviously wouldn't change that. Maybe he would've done even more, somehow, although I'm struggling to think of, like, how that could possibly have happened.
Let's back up a little bit, to the events of the trial.
Now, being that the show spent remarkably little time during the second half of Season 5 focusing on Mike and Rachel as a couple, I don't think much would necessarily change prior to the aborted wedding in the finale. Mike and Harvey are at odds over Mike's defensive strategy, but that's mainly because they want to protect each other, so being a couple would only intensify that response.
The first place there's really room to showcase a different narrative is when Rachel gets mad at Mike for defending that man in court rather than spending time with her. Being that Harvey is, by and large, more empathetic towards Mike's need to prove himself and his desire to help people in need, I think he might be frustrated that Mike wasn't taking perhaps one of his last moments of freedom to spend time with Harvey, but he would also understand where Mike is coming from. That is, Mike has had this amazing experience over the past five years and worked so hard all this time to use his fairly accidental power to help people who would not normally be helped by someone in his position, and now the life he's built for himself is about to be ripped away, but he's stumbled on this one last chance to help someone else who's in the midst of being fucked over by the system, and he's going to take it, because he has to. Because he's Mike, and that's what Mike does.
So where does that leave us? With a great opportunity for Harvey and Mike to have an actual heart-to-heart that comes less from a place of anger, as their glass-throwing fisticuffs in the next episode, and more from a place of hurt—not Harvey's hurt feelings that Mike isn't spending time with him, or Mike hurting over his potentially impending imprisonment, but them both hurting for each other for what's going to happen if Mike goes to prison. From an angst perspective, this is a wonderful opportunity for a really soul-baring scene from the two of them, especially if Mike is starting to feel the hopelessness that prompts him to accept Gibbs's deal, and Harvey might or might not see the writing on the wall but refuses to accept it without fighting to the last breath.
Anyway, they missed out a little bit there.
As I said before, Harvey canonically devotes himself wholeheartedly to getting Mike out of prison, so I don't know that a lot would necessarily change in the overall scheme of things once he's there, but there are specific events that could be very interesting to handle differently. First of all, Harvey and the warden drugging Mike to give him a few hours with Rachel. The plan is stupid, the plan has always been stupid, and now that plan isn't going to happen, so that's good, but also Harvey still needs Mike to accept Cahill's deal, so how's he going to do that?
More emotive speeches!
No seriously think about it, if Harvey and Mike are a couple and the only thing keeping Mike from getting out of his sentence early is his refusal to turn on his cellmate who he's known for all of five minutes (hyperbole, but not much), what kind of impassioned conversation do you think Harvey and Mike might have arguing over that? There can still be backdoor shenanigans with the warden, even, if Harvey wants to secure them a conversation someplace where they won't be recorded so they can really release their inhibitions. I'm actually not talking about a sexual encounter, but Harvey in particular is, as we know, very guarded with his emotions, and Mike might've learned by that point not to be so cavalier about saying or doing whatever he pleases wherever and whenever it occurs to him, so getting them into a completely private space could be very...freeing, to use a slightly misguided word in these circumstances. More angst, is what I'm saying, this is a great opportunity for another really deep, vulnerable, angst-ful scene.
And that's all very well and good from a plot-alteration standpoint, but how about emotionally? Though I don't know that Harvey's actions would change much if he and Mike were in a relationship as opposed to merely...dangerously codependent, I could see his mental state fraying more than it does in canon. Not to bring this all back around to his mother, but let's bring this back around to his mother: It's heinously unfair to say Harvey would feel abandoned by Mike going to prison, so I'd like to think that if Harvey does feel that way at any point, he recognizes it and shuts it down pretty quickly. He's not the most emotionally astute guy around, sure, but he's not a total idiot.
But what I do think there's room for is the collision of Harvey's mantra that "Everybody leaves," and his somewhat more hidden resignation that "I drive everyone away." Mike is in prison, because Harvey couldn't save him. Because Harvey wasn't fast enough at the courthouse. Because Harvey wasn't a good enough lawyer. Because Harvey couldn't convince Mike to let him take the fall for them both. Mike is in prison for Harvey. If they're a couple, I'd love to see this played out more thoroughly with some more attention given to some of the actual reasons Harvey is moving heaven and earth to get Mike out, aside from just "He's Mike and we're attached at the hip," or even in this alternate universe, "He's my boyfriend and I love him." No, let's get down in there and talk about what the parameters of this situation are doing to Harvey, who never talks about his feelings or examines his own emotional state. He's gotta start coming apart at the seams, to say the least, and what do you think Mike's response would be to that during their way-too-frequent-to-be-legal visitations? Nothing good, I'm sure of that, especially on top of the hardship of living in prison. Harvey is hurting, Mike is hurting, their hurting is hurting each other, everyone is miserable and there's not a whole lot to be done about it. So what do we do? Fight harder, of course! Ugh, I hope Harvey doesn't do anything too unhinged...
Well, anyway, I certainly think there's room to explore that idea and I'm sure I haven't exhausted the possibilities here, but it was fun to think about! Thanks for bringing this up!

So about that 'Blue Bloods' episode…
I recently saw something come across my dash regarding Alex Brightman’s guest appearance on the season 11 episode of 'Blue Bloods' (The Common Good) and it reignited the vehement response I had to the episode as a whole. And, since I have this blog now, I figured…fuck it. I need to rant about it.
So that's what this is.
Take what I say with a grain of salt, of course. This show is so clearly not for me and I acknowledge that, but I went to school for and got my degree in creative writing and so much of this episode pissed me off from a narrative perspective and I just really need to talk about it. Putting it under a Read More, though, so you can ignore me if you’d like while I rage to no one in particular. Apologies in advance if you choose to read on. I'm super long-winded. Luckily I don't have pictures and this is more of just a lot of text, so…it could be longer?
So, to begin, I’ll freely admit that I’d never seen an episode of 'Blue Bloods' before this and I’ve not watched it since. I mean, if the rest of the episodes are as badly written as this one, I have no interest to either, but I digress.
Overall my main problem with the episode was how desperately it avoided ‘showing’ over ‘telling’ and, as a visual medium, that’s kind’ve a big deal. We were told pretty much every detail that was presented to us. These people love to hear themselves talk, but do little to actually show things as they happen and I believe a part of that has to do with the focus of the show itself, which is definitely unique to this brand of television. By that, I just mean that it’s not the format I might’ve expected from a show like this. Most cop shows give a lot of focus to the cases, and the intrigue you get with the characters is how they apply their own skills and knowledge to solve them, with the hi-jinks they get into along the way being more of a bonus.
This is not that kind of show.
No, 'Blue Bloods' as a show is way more interested in the cops and their familial ties than it is about the actual job that they’re doing, as shown prominently with the political plot of this episode which was also very focused on the relationship between Tom Selleck’s character and his daughter and the wholly unrelated dinner scene where they talk about lent for 2 and a half minutes and acknowledge nothing else that happened in the episode. This show doesn’t care about the job of being a cop so much as it cares about the cops themselves.
Which would be fine if I gave a shit about cops, but I don’t.
You could argue that the mentor plot is the exception to that, but that entire situation had no real consequences for the cop in question, Jamie, abusing his power. It was entirely focused on how the situation affected him and how it was fine that he’d nudged this kid to get information which ultimately led to the arrest of Dion's brother, and Dion quitting the program. Hell, if Jamie had, in his final scene with Dion, owned up to his abuse of power and left the program — to then urge Dion to rejoin so that he can have that positive outlet in his life without him there — I would’ve been way more okay with it, but Jamie faces no consequences past ‘I don’t wanna see you anymore’, which I was never convinced he actually cared about in the slightest. There's nothing cathartic about it, it's just shitty and left me feeling frustrated at the lack of consequences for the cop.
But hey, you prolly don’t wanna read me going on and on about those parts. You prolly wanna know why I hate it despite Alex’s plot — which I fully expected to love because he’s perfect and gorgeous even when he’s playing a bad guy and he was just so adorable in his lil suit and they let him keep the scruff this time, and he was all handsome an— I need to stop. That could go on forever.
Anyway, to put it simply; it was bad, but I'll definitely explain why.
Now, I don’t think any of the guests in this episode necessarily did a bad job. They still acted well enough for what they were given. I just think they had a shit script that wasn’t interested in that story line. I mentioned at the top of this that this show cared more about telling than showing and that’s a huge problem when you want me to buy a character being the culprit in your murder plot. I need evidence, not anecdotes. Cuz, yeah, by the end of the episode, I didn’t buy for even a second that Ralph did it. And it’s not because he was played by Alex who is just charisma incarnate. I can believe him playing a bad guy. I also watched his 'Law & Order SVU' episode where he scared the shit outta me. He can play a creepy and violent character very well, he just wasn’t convincing to me as a bad guy in this show.
And here’s why!
First of all, he confessed at knife point. That confession would be thrown away IRL. It’s the same problem with using torture to get information. If a person’s life is threatened or they're being harmed in some way, they’ll usually say whatever it takes to get you to stop threatening them/causing them pain. Same deal here. You can’t convince me with a confession like that.
But they didn't seem to be interested in convincing anyone as far as I could tell. They just expected you to believe it because, ‘no, didn’t you hear? He said he did it, so he did it.’ They had so many opportunities to portray this character as the shitbag that we’re told he is. Hell, great way to really implicate him? Give him a female assistant that Donnie Wahlberg and his partner overhear / walk in on him berating for something small like getting him the wrong coffee or something. Then have them talk to that assistant later on and her mention some weird behavior from him on the night of Andrea’s death. It's cliché, but it's more than what we got.
Or you could have him talk to Meghan in a super condescending voice when he approaches her after her interview later on. Or, hell, have him refer to the murder victim in a condescending way even as he talks about her death. But no. The most we get out of him is that he's maybe a little snarky and smug when talking to the cops, but that’s not enough to convince me he’s a bad dude. Frankly, his producer buddy came off as more of an asshole, if I'm being honest. Just cuz (we’re told) his character did shitty things to her in the past doesn’t mean he’s still shitty. Show me he’s still shitty. I wanna see it and I know Alex is capable of a performance like that.
Second, it’s also just…obvious to make him the culprit if we're to believe everything we're told about him. He and Andrea are described as having had beef a little while before the murder with him being abusive mentally and physically. He’s known in the community to be a misogynist and an abusive person overall. He’s the obvious suspect, but if there’s anything that Scooby-Doo taught me, it’s that it’s never the most obvious person. Like, once in a blue moon, sure — but it’s rare.
So yeah, I don’t believe that Ralph did it. You wanna know who I do think did it?
Meghan.
Alright, so bear with me. This'll prolly sound a little conspiratorial, but hear me out:
She had the motive. She confirms in the beginning of the episode that she’s also a female gamer like the victim, but that she was ‘no Andrea’. Andrea was her competition. They were (supposedly) friends and stuck together as female gamers, but Andrea was still competition. With her out of the way, Meghan’s able to rise in the ranks, if even a little bit.
She had a scapegoat in Ralph — again, the obvious suspect given his tumultuous relationship with Andrea sometime prior — and an obvious grudge against men in their community in general. And, don’t get me wrong, men in gaming can and often are hella toxic — I’m not, in any way, denying that — but she got way more emotional when talking about the men in their community than when she was talking about her supposed friend lying dead in the adjoining room.
Speaking of the adjoining room, how did she not hear the murder happening? It couldn’t have been when she was down in the bar, cuz we see Ralph there too in the crappy CCTV footage that was supposed to show him being an asshole, I think (hard to really see). Was she just fucking around somewhere else when it happened? She doesn’t mention as much that I recall (correct me if I'm wrong on that, of course). And Andrea was strangled to death. I would assume that there would’ve been a struggle with that. Are you seriously telling me she wouldn’t hear that in her adjoining hotel room? Those walls aren’t that thick. I find that kinda hard to believe. And that she wouldn’t have found her till the next morning after that, also strikes me as a little odd.
Going off on some previous points, she shows very little grief over her friend’s death. Not just in the intro scene, either, but later on as well. (Side bar: that intro scene itself was very misleading. Don’t lead with a murder plot if it only takes up less than 10 minutes of the overall runtime, kay?) The show did a pretty bad job at indicating the passage of time, but it’s implied that the convention is still happening when Meghan gets the confession out of Ralph, so it would’ve had to have been the same weekend, or possibly the same week (though most conventions I’m aware of don’t last that long — it’s usually a weekend thing, at most Thursday-Sunday — but it could be similar to AGDQ, which seems to last about a week). So, if this is only a day or so later, why would someone who is supposedly grieving over their dead friend do interviews like nothing is wrong? Wouldn't you, like, reschedule or just politely decline and say you need time to process the shock? Like, when we cut to ol’ Donnie Wahlberg calling her after her interview, she doesn’t look upset — as I imagine she might if they’d likely asked her questions about Andrea / her feelings about the murder — and she seems cool as a cucumber when she asks Ralph to go somewhere private. In fact, the look on her face indicates pretty clearly that she’s planning to do something. Specifically, not that she's scared, that she's angry.
Finally, she’s the one who’s attacking Ralph when Donnie Wahlberg and company arrive on the scene. She doesn’t seem to have any marks on her indicating that he made any move to harm her (again, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember seeing her with any marks / cuts), but he’s got a clear, bleeding cut on his face. She attacked him first and was going in for the kill.
Or…was she? Cuz right before Donnie Wahlberg pulls her into that bear hug to stop her from the attack, she doesn’t do a great job of actually trying to kill Ralph. She was close enough that a quick dart at him would’ve probably been enough to at least injure him pretty significantly — maybe even fatally — and would’ve surely led the cops to pull them apart to secure him, but she kinda just hops around a bit and screams before lunging for him. That’s a really weird way to attack when you actually want to kill someone.
But, then again, I don’t necessarily think she did want to kill him. I’m convinced she wanted that confession, but that she also wanted him in jail and was playing the part of the super sad and hysterical victim who was just so overcome with her grief that she wasn’t in her right mind. I think that’s what they were going for in regards to her character in general, but it came across as less sincere in the performance and more like the character was putting on an act. They then cart Ralph off while comforting her — despite the fact that she disobeyed a direct order from police, which should lead to her being detained as well! — and that plot ends.
So, she gets what she wants in the end. A person she despises is now in police custody, her competition is out of the way, and the publicity she might get for bringing that ‘murderer’ to justice might eventually lead to her own career getting a nice boost. I dunno, it just strikes me as her having a great reason to have initiated this over Ralph just being a misogynist who 'was really trying to kill Meghan and just got the wrong girl'.
So yeah, with what the show presented to us, I believe Meghan’s the real killer. Again, if they’d done more to show me that Ralph was a bad dude or that she was more affected by her supposed friend’s death, or if they'd just given that plot more room to breathe to show those things, I might’ve been more inclined to buy the narrative they were pushing but…as is, I don’t believe it.
That’s pretty much all I wanted to say on the matter. I had a lot of issues with the domestic abuse plot line too, but they barely gave that 5 minutes of the overall runtime, so does it really matter in the long run? This is just…my thought process of the only part of the episode I watched for and how disappointing it was for me. And yes, I timed each section of the episode to figure out how much time was given to each of the 4 plots, plus the dinner scene at the end, but not counting the intro theme, and the murder plot got just over 8 minutes, of which Alex was on screen for half of that time. He got less than 5 minutes of screen time. It was definitely worth it just because he’s wonderful and I just like seeing him on these shows, but from a narrative standpoint, it felt pointless.
Okay, I’m done. Thank you for coming to my TED talk. Unless y’all wanna talk about this some more, cuz I’m so down for that.

Merry Pitchmas!!
@chloebeale , Merry Pitchmas! I’m so glad I get to be your secret Santa!! :)
 I hope you like this and have a great holiday:)
Everything I Need is Standing in Front of Me
Read on Ao3
“World tour!? Posen! Are you fucking kidding me?” Beca Mitchell shouts as she looks at the blonde across the room, who just gave her the news.
“Yeah, I mean a small one, but you’ll be doing a couple of shows in Japan, then some places in North America, and then go to Europe. This’ll be your last bang before your ‘hiatus’ right?” She air quotes the word ‘hiatus’ jokingly as she sits down on the couch in front of Beca’s desk.
“Hey! Don’t fucking make fun of my planned hiatus. I need a fucking break, and last time it didn’t happen was because a sudden idea hit me and wrote this album, and the rule is, release an album, go on tour. I had to get it over with anyways.“ The short brunette had been planning to announce her break from being in the media every single day when she had finished touring for her last album,
“Okay okay, I’m sorry.” The blonde chuckles. “But it’s a shorter tour. Besides, the company said you can take the private jet. And, my friend Chloe is in Japan teaching English and we can go see her.”
“They better fucking let me.” She groans, getting up from her chair and leaving her office, shaking her head. “I need more coffee. Your friend has to be super fucking awesome if I’m gonna have to meet her. I don’t want to meet any of your super boring friends again Posen.” She chuckles.
“Get me a cup! Thanks!” Aubrey shouts turning her neck.
“Fuck you! You’re supposed to be doing this for me!” She shouts back. Her voice echoes through the office, and the employees look up at her. “What the fuck are you guys looking at?” Beca snaps at them. She usually wasn’t this mean. All the album press shit was getting to the musician, they could cut her some slack on her.
The brunette gets a cup of coffee for herself, and the blonde, walks back and hands her the mug before sitting back down in her chair.
“Thank you Beca-boo.” Aubrey giggles before she takes a sip. “Hmm… You know me so well.”
“Yeah, and you’d kill me if I gave you the wrong kind.” Beca scoffs as she moves her computer mouse, turning her desktop screen on and looking through her emails. “Ugh..” She groans at the number of emails that she has.
“I have most of them read through. I just need you to go through them and check them. They’re basically all brand deals and all the other stuff you’ll be doing during the tour. I’ll send you a pdf of the itinerary and the schedule of the other shit you have to do.”
“God, I don’t know what I’d do without you Posen.” She says as she sips her coffee. “I have to post something on my instagram today right?”
“Yeah, right. And you still need me to list everything you do in the beginning of the day.” She rolls her eyes. “Yeah, and you better make it something entertaining. A picture of a pile of pop tarts wrappers is not quality content.” She once again rolls her eyes and looks at the brunette with a death glare.
Last time Beca had to post, she posted a picture of a pile of the breakfast pastry wrappers and a simple #adulting, and her manager was not happy with it. She had said quality content, wasn’t that some? Aubrey tells her to be relatable, and not too glamorous. Her marketing tactic was for her to be down-to-earth as she could be, so that her fanbase could feel closer to ‘Beca Mitchell’. Wasn’t pop tarts relatable? The only reason that the blonde had let her get off the hook was because Kellogg’s had offered them a brand deal. And still, she got shit for it from the manager.
“You literally live with me! You could’ve taken a picture of me devouring the pop tarts. Would that be enough for you?” She says as she finishes her coffee. “I don’t know, or whatever.” She raises her hands in the air in defeat.
“Then it’ll look like a PR thing! We want fans to think you’re actually putting effort into it.” She says as she gets up from the couch. “Last one to the car has to cook dinner tonight!” Laughing as she dashes out of Beca’s office to the car.
“Hey! Thats not fair!! DUDE! NOT COOL!!” Beca gets up from her seat and grabs her bag, stubbing her toe on her desk before she can exit the office. “FUCK!!”
When she gets to the car, Beca already knows she’s cooking dinner tonight. “So what are you cooking?” Aubrey grins as she asks the brunette. She starts the car and drives out of the basement parking lot of the record.
“Fuck you!” The shorter woman says and then realizes that her mug is still in her hand. “Fuck! Now I’m gonna have to remember to take the mug back to the office for the 1000th time.” She groans.
“Beca, can you stop cursing every single time you open your damn mouth? Maybe you should leave the cursing for the bedroom. Or do you just not need that anymore?” Aubrey casually, and cruelly says to her with a smirk.
This leaves Beca speechless.
They discovered their growing sexual tension for each other about a couple of months ago, a couple of weeks after Aubrey had officially moved into Beca’s too-large ‘bachelorette pad’.
The blonde had been staying over in the brunettes spare bedroom for more than a couple of weeks, since she had started to grow tired of having to go to the apartment every single day in the morning to wake her up, and take her to work. Beca had just told the blonde, “You can move into the other room if you want.” In which the blonde replied with a “I can move in!? You mean you want me to move in so I can take care of you every single fucking morning!?” Which was true, and the blonde did not accept until Beca gave in and asked (aka begged) Aubrey to move in.
One particularly stressful night before finalizing Beca’s album track list, the manager had been up all night with her, both sipping on a glass (= multiple shots) of tequila. Usually, the blonde was long asleep before the brunette was, but on this particular night, she had decided to stay up with her, and keep her company until she was finished.
It was around 3am and more than half the bottle of tequila when Beca was finally satisfied with her track order and songs. The time of night mixed with the over the top amount of alcohol consumed had led them to start making out, then Beca leading them both to her bed and eventually leading to them having sex. It was the pent up frustration between them that made all hell break loose.
They woke up the next morning confused and wrapped around each other’s naked bodies, promising to never speak of this and never do this again. This promise which surprisingly didn’t last long, led to them sleeping with each other once again that following night. Since then, they had a non-discussed friends with benefits thing going on whenever was convenient for each other. They surprisingly did not grow feelings for each other, Beca having commitment issues, and Aubrey having abandonment issues from her father. Beca also felt that it was beneficial for her because this fuck buddies thing with her manager meant that she would have less gossip in the public.
It also seemed to even out the work relationship, since all the pent up frustration could be resolved in the bedroom.
Aubrey drives into the basement parking garage of their apartment and turns the engine off. While she was doing that, Beca was dashing out of the car. “Last one up cooks!” She dashes up and presses the up button of the elevator, and waits for it impatiently. Aubrey sighs and gets out of the car, and locks it, walking over to the elevator as it arrives. “I guess you’re still cooking tonight midget.” She scoffs as she gets in and presses the 21 button inside. Beca pouts as she sits on the corner stool. “Thats not fair!” She says as she waits for the elevator to get to their floor.
“Life isn’t always fair Beca.” The brunette laughs.
The elevator dings on their floor and opens, both getting off and going into their apartment. “Could I convince you to a different kind of meal?” Beca smirks and asks as she pushes the blonde on to the door after they get inside and places a bruising kiss on her lips.
“Maybe, we can see.” Aubrey says as she lets herself relax and get led into the bedroom. “I know we’re gonna get hungry and eat something later on.” She chuckles.
“Maybe, we can see.” Beca mocks her as she kisses down the blonde’s neck.
As soon as Beca gets to the blonde’s collarbone, she gets turned around by the taller woman and pushed onto the bed. “If you’re gonna be bratty, I’m gonna treat you like a brat.” She smirks and grabs the brunettes chin, and then let’s go, starting tp unbutton her striped shirt. “You know I don’t like it when you’re bratty Bec.” She calls her in her ‘sex only’ nickname.
“Fuck..” Beca mutters as she sits up a bit to take her jacket and the shirt off. Before she can lay back down, her bra is removed as well, and then a puff of the blonde’s breath hits her nipples. “Bree, I want more,” She tells her.
”If you were less bratty, we could’ve gotten straight to the point sweetie.” She chuckles as she teases Beca’s nipples with her fingers. She squirms under the blonde’s touch and lifts her hips, her hands reaching her back and holds on to the blonde. “Don’t you dare leave marks Beca.” Aubrey says at the nails trying to claw into her back. She lowers her hands down the brunette’s navel and then singlehandedly unbuttons her jeans before letting her fingers explore. “God damn it Bec…” She feels the pool of moisture between the shorter girl’s legs.
“I need you… fuck… please…” The brunette shivers at the contact. “Please Bree…”
“Well, since you asked so nicely..” Two digits enter the brunette, and a moan escapes her mouth.
“Fuck…. Bree..” It seems like ‘Fuck’ is the only thing that is able to be released from her right now. Her head is blank, and she feels the blonde’s fingers hitting just the right spot. She’s definitely gonna leave marks. She can’t resist but to dig her nails into the blonde’s back.
“I told you Bec. Don’t leave marks…” Aubrey says as she takes her finger out of the brunette and grabs her wrists. She grabs the handcuffs from the nightstand and puts one of the cuffs on the brunette’s wrist. “Hands up Bec.” She says and the brunette obeys, allowing the taller girl to cuddle her hands. “This is what you get for not following instructions when asked nicely.” She smirks.
“I’m sorry….” The brunette knows tonight is going to be a long one.
“If you’re sorry, why don’t you follow when I asked you nicely?” The blonde says as she enters the short brunette with two fingers and lays her thumb over her clit. “Huh Beca?…”
All the brunette can make out are moans and curses at this point, and she’s a whimpering mess, coming up to her release. “Bree… I’m gonna…. Fuck…” She shrieks when the blonde stops all movements and removes her fingers again.
“I never said you could come Bec.” She smirks again. “Do you want to Bec?”
“Yes… Please Bree….” Beca whimpers as she squirms. “Please…. let me come… Please…” She blushes.
“Since you asked so nicely…” The blonde says as she fingers the brunette once again, and kisses Beca for the first time since getting back into the house. “Come for me Bec…”She whispers in her ear just the way the brunette likes, and kisses her. The brunette shakes under her and reaches her climax.
“Holy shit… that was hot.” Aubrey snickers as she lays on top of Beca out of breath, just as much as Beca is.
“Damn…that was amazing.” The brunette breathes out and then her handcuffs clink. “Uhh.. Bree?…” She lifts her arms.
“Oh. Sorry. “ Aubrey giggles and gets the key from the nightstand and frees the brunette’s wrists. “Here ya go.” She chuckles.
“Thank youuuu.” The short girl says as she wraps her arms around the blonde. “Lemme make you feel good Bree.” She smiles and kisses her as she lifts her neck up.
She twists her body and turns and lays on top of the blonde. “There we go.” She smirks and kisses her. “You’re wearing too much clothes.” She unbuttons her pants and pulls her pants down along with her thong and throws it somewhere in the room. She unhooks the blonde’s bra and she flings it away as well. “This needs to go too.” She giggles and kisses the blonde.
They both fall asleep together, exhausted, and Beca wrapped in Aubrey’s warm embrace.
-A Month Later-
“You ready?” Aubrey asks her as she closes her last suit case. “You have the ear plugs you always bitch about needing on the plane. Right?”
“Yes General Posen. I have it in my bag. I just need to fit all this in.” Beca says as she tries to zip the suitcase up.
“You know you’re not going to college right?” The blonde chuckles as she rolls the two suitcases to the door. “We’re gonna go to Japan for a few days and then we go to New York, Detroit and Chicago. We’ll be home in two weeks Beca.”
“I know, I have to make sure I have everything, just in case.” She says as she zips the suitcase up eventually. “Plus, we might get homesick. I have some macaroni and cheese and some other stuff.”
“You’re hilarious.” Aubrey laughs as she rolls the suitcases to the door and checks her phone. “The car will be coming in 5 minutes.” She goes around the pad checking all of the lights and the plugs.
-Hours Later-
“OH MY GOD WE’RE LANDING!!! HELP ME!!! OH MY FUCKING GOD POSEN!” Beca panics as she feels the plane depends.
“Beca, chill the fuck out. You’re fine.” Aubrey grabs her hand and rubs her back. “We’re almost there.” She says to her as she gets up and sits in the seat right next to her.  “You’re okay. Shh…”
The plane lands safely and Beca relaxes, letting herself lean on the blonde. “Thank god…” She sighs.
“I told you. It’s alright baby.” She lets the name slip.
They both don’t seem to notice.
“Now we’re here. Let’s go have some fun.” Beca gets off the plane and heads down to the car waiting for them.
“It’s like she wasn’t just freaking out abut landing.” The blonde chuckles to herself.
A few hours later, they’re settled in their hotel room and it’s the weird hours getting to them, and they’re getting hungry at 3pm.
“Dude isn’t there like a sushi place we can go to?” Beca whines as she sprays out on the huge bed,
“I bet there is, dude.” Aubrey rolls her eyes as she texts Chloe, asking for food recommendations in the area.
They were in the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Tokyo because of Beca’s sponsorship with major hotels one of them being Mariott, scoring her the best room at the hotel. Aubrey even got a connecting room which was a smaller suite but very nice nonetheless.  Aubrey hoped her friend would know a good place to eat at in the tourist city, although the ginger worked in an area bit away from the city.
She gets a text back from Chloe, with a link of the location of the restaurant. ‘It should be super close to where ur staying!!’ She adds on to the link and also starts texting something again. ‘I could head over to Akasaka tonight, if ur free and not babysitting your celeb singer:)’
Aubrey chuckles and sends back a quick ’thank u Chlo’ and puts her phone in her pocket. “Hey Beca, if you want to go eat some sushi, we can go now.”
At that, Beca shoots out of bed and gets her stuff. “Okay! I’m ready!! I can go now!!” She says like a kid ready to go to Disneyland.
“Okay dude, let’s go.” Aubrey chuckles as she grabs the card key and leaves the room, following the brunette. They weren’t really supposed to go around that much without the group of bodyguards Beca had, but people probably wouldn’t really notice her as much as people in the US would, so Aubrey wished for the best as she entered the elevator.
They eat the sushi as they come down the conveyor belt.
“Hey Beca, my friend Chloe wants to come hang out with me tonight. Do you wanna go get some drinks with us tonight? I know you have no friends so I’m guessing you’ll come with?” Aubrey jokes as she eats her last sushi on her plate.
“Yeah. I guess I’ll go with you guys.”
“I know you want to. Just admit it Beca.” The blonde chuckles as she gets up grab another plate.
“Whatever Posen.” Beca grabs the cake that comes from the top part of the belt. “I could eat a million of these cakes and desserts.” She says as she takes a bite.
“Yeah. We can come back again soon. As long as you pay Mitchell.”
“Fine. But its like so nice, its like a dollar per plate, right? Thats pretty awesome.” She says as she finishes the cake. “I’m full now. You good now?” The brunette asks the blonde.
“Wait I want to have one of those cakes too! Go get a coffee or something.” Aubrey says as she orders a cake on the tablet on the table.
“Me too!” Beca says as she orders herself another cake.
A few hours later, they’ve gotten back to the hotel and now getting ready to go out again to see Chloe.
“Beca, you ready slowpoke?” “Just a minute!!” “Your eyeliner still looks horrible if you take 5 seconds or 3 hours to do!” Aubrey shouts back as she checks her phone. They’re supposed to be at some station nearby in 30 minutes. She knows that Tokyo is small but she needs to get there and its gonna take at least 20 minutes.  “C’mon Becaaaaaaaa!”
“Okay! OKay!! I’m ready!” Beca comes out from the bathroom in some skinny jeans and the tank top. She grabs her blue flannel from her suitcase and pockets her phone and wallet.
“You look normal. I don’t know why it took how long for you to get ready.” The blonde rolls her eyes and grabs her hotel key.
They get to Roppongi station and then takes the train, they don’t know how they managed to, but makes it to Akasaka station. Aubrey sees her best friend in the exit and she starts running towards her, and she leaves Beca behind running towards the ginger as well.  “Aubreyyyyy!! Oh my goshhhh! I missed you so much!!” The ginger hugs the blonde and picks her up with her enthusiasm.
“Chloe! I’m so happy to see you!!” Aubrey says as she hugs her back.
“You’re just gonna leave me in this huge station?” Beca follows behind and catches up to the two friends.
“Hi Beca!! Oh my goshhhh! Hi! It’s so nice to meet you!!” Chloe hugs the brunette excitedly.
“Chill tiger.. It’s nice to meet you….?”
“Oh… I’m sorry. I’m Chloe Beale! I love all your songs, I especially like Curious.” She smiles.
“Th-Thanks I guess…”Beca mutters.
“Are you guys ready to go get some food, and go get some drinks after that?” Chloe says as she grabs her phone from her bag and starts walking.
“Yeah. Let’s go. I’m starving. “ Beca says as she follows the ginger.
“You had food like 2 hours ago!” Aubrey chuckles as they all walk towards the exit of the station.
“Whatever, are you hungry Chloe?” Beca asks awkwardly.
“Yeah, the tiny humans were a bit crazy today.” She chuckles, “And I’m also always up for good food. But what kind of food would you guys like to eat? Like Japanese food, or Mexican, American? I don’t know, you name it, I’ll try to find a place.”
“Umm.. I don’t know.. Beca?” Aubrey answers and looks at the brunette.
“Uh… Are there tacos around here?” Aubrey laughs as Beca answers.
“Well, tacos it it I guess! Theres a really good place called Taco Rico in one of the buildings and I honestly cannot tell you how obsessed with it I am!” Chloe says as she starts walking.
“I’m so excited!” Beca says as she grabs her phone and takes a selfie video of her walking the streets of Tokyo. “Hey guys! I’m in Japan right now! Look at this! Isn’t this amazing??” She makes sure the whole view around can be seen and cuts off the video.  “Happy now Posen? I’ll post it with dinner pics later when we get back to the hotel.”
“Yeah. Better than pop tart wrappers.” The blonde says as she grabs her phon snapping a few pictures of the city.
“I think the pop tart wrappers post was pretty cool. I think it’s an art form and also made me want some.” She chuckles.
“Don’t let her do this Chloe.” Aubrey groans.
“Thank you! I thought so too. It even got me a brand deal. So shut up Posen.” She sticks her tongue out at her. “I have some in my suitcase. Want some?” A small “Oh my god. What do you not have in your suitcase?” Can be heard from the blonde but the ginger doesn’t seem to mind.
“Oh my gosh! That would be amazing!!” Chloe says as she makes a turn. “Is it true that you have the biggest room in the Ritz-Carlton?” She asks curiously.
Beca looks at the ginger who seems to be excited as a kid in a candy shop. “Yeah. You wanna come see it? We can get drinks and stuff up in the room.”
“That would be amazing Beca!”
“You never invite anyone to your hotel room.” The blonde chuckles.
Making a turn and entering a building, Chloe cheerfully says, “We’re almost here!”
“Why can’t I just invite your friend over to my room?” Beca mumbles.
“I didn’t say that.“ Aubrey rolls here eyes as they enter the building.
“So, you basically check the menu and order your choice, subway style.” Chloe shows her smile. “They speak English so its also super nice.”
“Um… Do you have a favorite??” Beca asks the ginger.
“Umm…. I think I like the grilled chicken and avocado tacos. Basically anything is pretty good.” She smiles and gets in the queue to order some food.
“I’m gonna try one of the burritos.” Beca says as she looks at the burrito menu. She orders after Chloe and then waits for everyone else to order so that she can pay. “I got it.” She says quietly as she gives the cashier her card. They make small conversation, as it turns out, the cashier is a fan of the brunette’s music.
“Thank you.” Chloe smiles as she looks at Aubrey. “She’s cute.” She says to her best friend. The blonde makes a face. “What?” She chuckles. “I wonder if she’s good in bed.” Chloe jokingly says and winks, making the blonde choke on particularly nothing. “Oh my god Bree! Youre…” The red head says eyes wide with realization.
“You okay Posen? I can’t have a dead manager.” Beca chuckles, not having heard what Chloe had said earlier. “Where are we eating?” Beca asks the ginger.
“I dunno… we can eat here, or go outside and eat there.”
“We can just sit here and eat I guess.” Beca says as she sits at one of the tables.
“Okay. Sounds good to me. “ The ginger smiles as she sits down right next to the girl.
  They eat their food and then leave the place to head back to the suite, buying some alcohol on the way back at a nearby convenience store. Beca has the best time there, spending almost $80 with snacks and drinks.
The trio head inside the hotel and into Beca’s suite. “Oh my god. This room is gigantic!!” Chloe exclaims as she walks around the room like a little kid. “Where are you sleeping Bree? On the couch??” She laughs as she sits on the couch.
“Oh I have a connecting room next door, away from this annoying one.” Aubrey says as she opens the door to her room. “See? I even have a room all to myself.” At that, Chloe jumps off the couch and rushes into Aubrey’s suite room, excitedly screaming as she explores the room. Beca laughs as she heard the redhead cheer excitedly at all the fancy things in her room.
“You know, there’s a tv in my bathroom.” Beca laughs and Chloe comes back into the room and runs to the bathroom and makes another screech of joy. “OH my GOSH!!” She says like an excited child. “This is amazing!” She takes another spin around the room. “Wow….” Now she’s left speechless.
“You can stay here tonight if you want.” Beca says to the ginger. “I can have them roll in another bed.”
“Or you can stay in my room.” Aubrey says quickly. “If you don’t want to stay with Beca. I’ll even let you sleep on my bed.” Aubrey says.
Chloes just stuck in awe, not even saying a thing at the offer from the two.
“I would let you stay in my bed, but I’m pretty sure Aubrey is about to kill me, so….” Beca gets a jab on the side from Aubrey. “Ow! You don’t have tp be so mean Posen!” She pushes her back, but Aubrey not even budging a bit. “Should we open some drinks and hang out for a bit?” She tries to change the subject.
“Oh, yeah. Let’s do that.” Aubrey says as she grabs one of the colorful cans from the plastic bags. “You want one Chlo?” She asks the ginger.
“…uh! Yeah! I’ll take one!” Chloe says as she grabs a can from the blonde’s hand. “You want one too Bec?” She hands the brunette a can. The brunette blushes as she takes the can from her.
“Thanks.” She says as she opens it. “Cheers I guess…” She says and the three clink their drinks together, taking a sip. “Wow.. this is pretty good.”
A few hours and a few drinks in, they all start tiring out. The blonde being the first one to retreat back to her bed at around 12am, simply telling the ginger to come stay in her bed if she needs to, and  says goodnight to the group.
Chloe and Beca are still awake, sipping on their drinks.
Beca’s the first one to speak up after the blonde leaves. “So, how do you know Posen?”
“We met in college. Bree and I were in the Barden Bellas, an acapella group. We were co-leaders of the group and best friends. But tell me, how did she become your manager? I know she worked at capitol as a public relations assistant, but I was so surprised to hear that she became your manager.” She asks the younger girl.
“Umm… I don’t know. I got the chance to work with Capitol somehow, and she just became my manager. I think they wanted the public relations aspect to play in with my managing? I honestly don’t know.” She chuckles.
“I really like your music Beca.” Chloe says as she grabs a potato chip and pops it in her mouth. “Especially the mashups you make, BMCoda.” She winks.
It wasn’t a well known thing that Beca made mashups before her debut. Only some people knew her as BMCoda, her SoundCloud username. Some fans had figured it out, but not a lot, and the fact that Beca has never confirmed it publicly except the few hints she drops sometimes on instagram.
“How… how did you know that? Did Posen tell you about it?”She asks.
“Oh so it’s really true.” She says. “No. I figured it out. Your coda necklace, and your voice.” She points to the coda on beca’s neck. “I thought it sounded familiar. And you also stopped posting mashups a few months before your first single. I especially liked the one with Titanium and Bulletproof. That song is my jam. My lady jam….” She chuckles.
“Uh….oh… okay… that’s cool… thanks I guess…..” Beca replies awkwardly as she looks back into the ginger’s eyes.“Yeah. I just couldn’t find the time anymore.” She plays with the hem of her shirt. “My life was suddenly just so busy with all the press and shit… It drains you, you know… all the flashes, all the questions..”  "I’m sorry…”
“No, it’s fine. I knew what I was getting myself into. It’s not like I’m gonna be here forever. I’m gonna go to the producing side. I mean, not right away, but soon. After this tour, I’m gonna take a break.” She sighs.
“What are you gonna do then?” The blonde asks taking a sip of her drink.
“I don’t know. Live schedule-less for a while. See where that brings me. Maybe travel? Who knows?” She shrugs as she pulls on the loose string of her shirt.
“Am I allowed to know this secret?” Chloe chuckles. “Aren’t these like top secret plans?”
“I guess I’ll have to kill you now.” Beca jokes. “Or make you sign an NDA.” She says as she grabs her drink.
“I’d rather sign that NDA if you have one. I still kinda wanna live.” She chuckles, putting her drink down. “So, what are you and Bree? I’ve never seen her that visibly jealous at me talking with you.” She says to the brunette.
“W-what!? What do you mean?” Beca stutters.
“Oh, even a blind man could feel see the chemistry and sexual tension  between you. You know she likes you, right? She’s never told me, but I know.” The red head says to her.
“We’re not… We aren’t a thing. We’re just friends with benefits or fuck buddies, or whatever you wanna call it.” Beca says aloud for the first time.
“Bullshit. I know you have feelings for her too. You’re just trying to act like they’re not there. You two act like you hate each other, but it’s just you two protecting yourselves from letting feelings actually happen.” She says to the brunette. “You both are just to scared to say it.”
“I-I can’t tell her I have feelings for her, she’s my manager!” Beca says.
Chloe tries to shush her, but it’s too late. The door opens, and the blonde, in her pajama pants and a matching top comes into the room. “Feelings for who?….” She asks.
“Nothing! It’s nothing Posen! J-just go back to bed! I’m sorry I woke you up!” Beca exclaims as she gets up in a panic. “I-i gotta go to bed! Good night guys!” She runs to her room and slams the door shut in embarrassment.
“Beca! Wait….”Before Aubrey can say anything, the brunette runs to her room and doesn’t even hear a thing she says.
“Go, go tell her how you feel. I know you’re in love with her.” Chloe says to her best friend as she just stands between the door and the couch.
“I-I’m not….” Aubrey begins.
“Bullshit. Bree, that’s bullshit. Stop trying to protect yourself. I saw how jealous you were acting today when I was talking to Beca. When you love someone, you tell them. Even if you’re scared it’s not the right thing. Even if you’re scared that it will burn your life to the ground, you say it, and you say it loud and clear. And you go from there. Thats what you do. Now go. Go and tell her. I’m taking your bed tonight. Good night.” Chloe says as she leaves the room. Aubrey hears the lock click from the other side, meaning she had no choice but to go tell Beca.
She knocks on the door of the bedroom, takes a deep breath and walks in when she hears Beca say, “Come in.”
“I’m sorry I woke you up. I really am.” Beca says to her.
“I love you. I’m in love with you. I didn’t want to accept the fact that It was true because I was too scared. I’m your manager and I couldn’t risk anything.”She says in a calm tone.
“And I think you love me too. And if you do, tell me. Tell me and we can stop pretending like we’re always on each other’s nerves. And if you don’t, I don’t know, but…”
Beca’s never seen Aubrey ramble like that. “Bree… stop. I love you too.” She says calmly. “I’m scared. But I love you, I just do.”
Aubrey walks towards Beca, Beca gets up and off the bed.
“We’ll figure it out together. I promise. I’m freaking out too.” The blonde says as she kisses the brunette.
For the first time, it’s not just a kiss during sex. It’s a gentle, loving kiss. Beca melts into it and it feels like home. She lets her arm wrap around Aubrey’s neck and pulls them closer.
“I love you.” “I love you too.” The brunette hugs her a bit tighter, and it feels right.
“I know everything is in the wrong order and it’s crazy, but be my girlfriend? ” Beca asks the older woman.
It’s just then, Aubrey’s stomach growls. The two burst into laughter as the blonde opens her mouth. “Yes. I’ll be your girlfriend. But can we have some room service? I’m super hungry.” She chuckles.
Beca nods, going to the phone and picking it up as well as the menu and gives it to the blonde. “You pick.”
Thank god for 24 hour room service, because at 3:37am, the two have two full plates of warm breakfast foods, right in front of them. They quickly eat the food on their bed, and eventually fall asleep on the bed, talking to each other, catching up on all the things they’ve wanted to talk to each other about.
Chloe wakes up at around 10am in her best friend’s bed, without her in it. She gets out of bed and walks out of the room and into the living room area of Beca’s room to see that the bedroom door is in fact, open, and sees the blonde and the brunette, asleep, in each others arms. She goes back to the other room and sits in front of the TV snd turns it on, watching it until about 11:30, when the blonde comes into the room.
“Morning.” She says to the ginger as she sits next to her.
“Morning. How was it?” She asks her as she looks at her friend up and down.
“What? We didn’t do anything last night…” She mumbles as she turns red.
“Ew! I don’t need to know anything about you two’s sex life! I’m just asking how it went.”
“I told her. Thank you Chloe.”
“No need to thank me, just invite me to your wedding as your maid of honor.” She jokes. “I’m hungry. Can I order something?” She asks her friend.
“Yeah. Of corse. Whatever you need. I’ll just have my girlfriend pay for it.” Aubrey says naturally.
“Oh my god! Girlfriend!? Oh my god! I’m so proud of you!!” Chloe excitedly gives her a hug.
“T-thanks. I-I’m gonna go. Text me if you need anything.” The blonde says as she leaves the room.
“mm... Where were you?…” Beca mumbles as Aubrey comes back into the room.
“I was just talking to Chloe. You know, about last night.”
“Come back to bed.. I miss you..” Beca says as she looks at the blonde. “What did she say?” “She was very excited for us.” Aubrey gets back into bed with Beca. “Hmm… you’re warm…” She mutters as she kisses her head. “Tell me you love me again?”
“I love you Bree.” Beca kisses the blonde, twisting her neck.
“I love you too baby.”

Beautiful, Dirty, Rich - Loki Laufeyson Mafia AU
Chapter Four - Spoiled
You had only been back in New York for four days and already you felt as though you needed a break away. You knew that following the whole Paris ordeal and the consequential wasting of your fathers money meant that you were in no position to ask for a vacation. So in turn, you had to settle for retail therapy.
Only it wasn't working, you'd already browsed a number of high end stores by noon only to be left feeling flat and bored. When did shopping become so mundane?
That being said, it hadn't stopped you from spending a hefty amount on miscellaneous items, feeling a sort of satisfaction when you swiped your fathers card. Although it did infuriate you that with his income, he wouldn't even notice your expenditure.
It was a Saturday, meaning the mall was swarming with socialites. Private school pupils gathered by the fountains to gossip. The sugar babies of New York's elites seemed to swipe cards everywhere you turned. It was like a playground for the snobs of society, although, you were in no place to judge, as you cast your eyes down to the mass of bags you had accumulated.
Feeling your phone vibrate in your purse, you groaned, eyes scanning for somewhere to sit, settling when you saw a small café nestled in the corner of the floor you were on.
Not even bothering to check the caller ID you answered the phone with a huff, "Hello?"
"Is that anyway to greet your father?" you had to stop yourself form slamming your head against the glass table, why did you even pick up?
"Sorry, what did you need?" you sighed, wanting the call to be as painless as possible.
"Can I not just call my daughter? Why do I need a reason?" his voice was woven with that accusatory tone he always seemed to use. It was one thing you could pinpoint about his personality that was directly caused by the mafia, he was always so on edge, like everyone was after him.
"Of course not." you tried your best not to snap at him, knowing it would anger him further.
"Anyway, I need you to attend a dinner with me tomorrow night."
So he did need something.
"Uh, sure, what's it for?" you made a mental note to ask Sophia if she too would be in attendance.
"Myself, Laufey and his son are meeting to discuss things."
Things. That could mean anything when it came to the mafia. Who they were going to kill next. Who they were going to sue next. Who they were going to employ next. You hated the uncertainty, it only reminded you of how insignificant you were in the grand scheme of things.
It also reminded you that Loki Laufeyson existed.
After the Gala, you had recouped with Sophia and tried to get all the information that she knew about him. She didn't have much to offer, just rumours she had heard from Charles about his past sexual escapades and childish drama, nothing exciting.
He gave you the creeps.
"So why do I have to come?" you tried not to sound as ungrateful as you were, you didn't want to spend three hours in some stuffy conference room.
"I'm sure Laufey will bring his new wife, and Loki is sure to bring a date."
You tired not to outwardly cringe at the thought of being your fathers date, but you also understood your father didn't have time to find a new wife in the span of a day. So, reluctantly you agreed.
Your father gave you the address of the restaurant you'd be going to with the instruction to, "Arrive at seven, sharp." and with that, he hung up on you, goodbyes weren't a common thing between you two.
You threw your phone into your purse with a deep exhale, you wouldn't even have Sophia to make the dinner less painful. You'd suffer alone.
How dramatic of you.
Deciding you'd had enough of browsing, you got up to leave, catching the glare of the workers whose table you had occupied. You slipped a bill on the table and gave them a tight smile, oops.
You wished you could say you got to the exit painlessly, that you left the mall and walked home in the sun with no troubles. But as always, life wasn't kind to you.
First it was the hair, that familiar black that seemed to shine from root to tip. The hair alone wasn't enough to make you question the identity of the stranger walking only a few feet away from you. However, when you caught sight of the black suit and the company of Charles Buckley, you knew it could only be one person. One person who seemed to be everywhere you turned recently. One very annoying person.
Loki Laufeyson.
Thankfully hadn't seen you make a mad scramble for the nearest store, that store of course, being of the lingerie variety. Your thought process was that if you hid out in there for long enough, he was sure to be gone by the time you regained your composure.
But once again, life wasn't kind to you.
You were seeking refuge by the bra section, pretending to be overly interested in a particular style of lace when you felt that low voice in your ear.
"Wouldn't have thought you were the type to wear white." he said, hands dusting over the material of the straps. His voice was in that tone again, the same he had used at the bar only days prior, it was dangerous how seductive he could be with only his voice.
"I'd hope you wouldn't be thinking about me at all, Laufeyson." you feigned disinterest as you began to walk around the store, him hanging around behind you, following your every move.
"At the thought of you darling, I've done a lot more than think." You turned to glare at him, rolling your eyes in defeat when he wore that cocky smirk. He was so full of himself.
"So you've resorted to stalking me now?"
"You do think highly of yourself don't you dear?" he was smiling at your discomfort, still hot on your tail as you wandered through the boutique.
"I don't know, after the Gala I think I'm right to assume you'd try to talk to me again." you picked up a random pair of underwear, noticing the way the clerk was eyeing you and the man behind you, this way you could buy something and get the hell out.
Loki snatched the hanger form you before you'd protest, scanning the underwear, much to your embarrassment, "Red? How cliché." he smirked, you felt your cheeks heat up; whether it be from anger, humiliation, or a healthy mix of the two.
"You're insufferable Loki. I really mean that." you scoffed, retrieving the panties back and storming away.
But of course, Loki was still following you like a lost puppy, a lost puppy you wanted to kick, "I'm wounded, darling. I really thought we were becoming friends."
You turned abruptly, causing Loki to stumble only ever so slightly. "As an asshole once said to me, don't flatter yourself."
"Quoting me, that's bold." you could see he was enjoying this, much to your annoyance, he liked the back and fourth. You however, not so much.
"No Loki, what's bold is you following me around, commenting on my underwear choices, like the matter has anything to do with you." you snapped, anger seeping into your tone as you tried not to raise your voice too much in the middle of a public place.
Loki was silent for a pause, seemingly taking in your words, but of course his pensive face was just a mask for his childishness as he soon replied with a smirk, "Oh but it will, you'll see." you didn't have time to respond before he spoke again, this time checking his watch, "As much as I'd love to stay and chat I have a dinner to plan. I'll see you tomorrow darling."
And then he was gone, as quick as he came, and you were free to groan, aloud this time. Finally alone, you made your way towards the register, where a slightly bemused clerk was already watching you.
"Boyfriend?" she asked, and you had to stop yourself from declaring her fired on the spot.
"No." you said, the harshness of you voice enough to wipe the playful smile off of her face.
"Oh, okay." you watched as her cheeks immediately went a shade of fuchsia, " Will those be all?"
You looked down at the underwear as you handed it to the clerk, eyes immediately darting to the other pair of underwear, the one you knew you hadn't picked up.
You glared at the pair in your hands.
It was certainly more revealing than the other pair you'd picked up. And the colour? A deep emerald green. Not too dissimilar to the shade of the handkerchief that was sitting in that bastards suit jacket.
You left the boutique with one thought, and that was that you wanted to strangle Loki Laufeyson.

Yay yay yay platonic Rarry! I want more. A lot more! I love friendship fics between Ron and Harry ❤️
Hi anon! Here’s some more platonic Rarry for you (with side Romione and Hinny because I couldn’t resist.) Hope you enjoy!
*************************
Taking the next step
“Want to take the afternoon off if we get through all this paperwork?” Ron asked Harry. They were both sitting at their desks in the Auror office, having gotten a brief reprieve from being in the field.
Harry looked up from what he was doing. “What’d you have in mind?” he asked.
“I could use your help with something,” Ron said noncommittally.
Harry stared at him before saying, “Okay…”
“You’re not opposed to using glamour charms and disguising ourselves, are you?” Ron asked.
“No. Mate, do you have some secret Auror mission you’re trying to investigate or something?” Harry asked.
“What? No, ‘course not! I just think it’d be best if we weren’t seen by anyone who would recognize us. I’ll explain when we’re out of the Ministry.”
“Alright,” Harry said as he went back to his work. He trusted Ron, and was sure he had a good reason for whatever he had planned. The afternoon came faster than he’d expected, and the pile on both of their desks had become significantly less.
“Ready?” Ron asked.
“Sure. Are you going to send a note to Hermione letting her know that you’re leaving?” Harry asked.
“Er, no, she doesn’t need to know. I’ll send a patronus if we end up being later than expected.” Ron said. “Lunch in muggle London first?”
Harry was surprised that Ron wasn’t telling Hermione, but tried to hide it. “Alright.”
They stopped at a quiet cafe a few blocks into Muggle London that had a good selection of sandwiches. After they placed their order, Harry looked at Ron.
“Alright, what’s really going on that you’re being all secretive about?”
“I want to look for a ring,” Ron told him.
Harry stared at him, processing his words. He wasn’t surprised in the least. The girls had just finished at Hogwarts a few months prior.
“Wow, really? That’s great, mate! How’d you know?” Harry was genuinely interested, since he’d been thinking about how long he should wait before he started shopping for one for Ginny.
“Honestly? I’ve known it for so long, and things are finally starting to settle into some normalcy in our lives, and it just feels right.”
Harry nodded. “That makes sense. But why not just shop in Muggle London? There are plenty of jewelers, and then you can avoid the prying eyes of people in Diagon Alley.”
“Magical jewelry is different, mate.” He shook his head and rolled his eyes, “Honestly, I shouldn’t be surprised when you ask questions like that anymore, and yet here we are.” Ron laughed at himself.
“How?” Harry asked interestedly, pretending he didn’t hear Ron’s jab about Harry’s continued lack of magical knowledge.
“Well, it’s kind of like shopping for a wand, isn’t it? It’s not that the ring chooses the person like a wand does, but there’s magic embedded in the ring that’s drawn to certain dynamics of couples, and the right choice will help strengthen the bond between them. So like, the ring I’d choose for Hermione would be different from the one you’d choose for Ginny...if that’s something you decide to do, too, of course. There’s really more to it than just style and diamond cut and band, and all that other rubbish I’ve been trying to read up on in secret,” Ron explained.
Harry nodded, “So, have you guys talked at all about it or is this going to be a complete surprise?”
“What do you mean? We’ve talked about our future together, but Hermione’s not really the type to gush over a princess cut, or side stones, or the difference between white gold and silver…” Ron droned on.
Harry snorted, “ I think you need to lay off the research. Are you hearing yourself right now?”
“Oi! How much thought have you given it?”
“Enough to figure that I’d just know what would suit Ginny when I see it? She’s not exactly the ‘froo froo’ type either,”
Ron nodded in agreement. “See? That’s exactly my point!”
Harry looked at him as if he’d grown two heads. “So has Hermione ever actually talked about what kind of ring she wants?”
Ron stared blankly back at him. “Er, no. That’s why I asked you to come along. We’ve only ever talked about the future in relation to being married and how many kids and where we’re going to live...we’ve never really discussed the engagement part of it..”
They were interrupted by the arrival of their food. “Ah, so you proposing is nowhere near on her radar,” Harry said.
“Hopefully not, but I’d like her to be bloody surprised for once in her life. She’s got everything too planned out.”
“That she does. So what are you thinking?”
“Well, you know how we were talking a while back about taking a holiday together? I thought it might be perfect to set that up and plan for it, then. It can still be a private proposal, but we’d also have you and Ginny to celebrate with, and we could enjoy it before having Mum go crazy at the announcement.”
“Oh, excellent idea! When are you thinking?” Harry asked. “I could use a break.”
“Ginny’s got a gap in her season coming up next month, yeah? We could go then?”
“Sounds brilliant, but how are you going to pry Hermione away from work? She’s barely getting started, so you know how she’s going to react to taking a vacation so soon.”
“Well, luckily she’s got to use some of her paid time off before the end of the year. Only half of it will carry over.”
“Brilliant, really brilliant mate. Maybe we should go book the trip this afternoon, too so they can’t talk us out of it,” Harry suggested.
Ron looked up from his sandwich excitedly. “See, I knew I could count on bringing you along! I might have to send that patronus to Hermione after all.”
*********************
After they finished their lunch, they paid and left the cafe, heading for a dark alleyway just down the street. They altered their appearances using glamour charms so no one would recognize them when they returned to Diagon Alley. As they made their way to the jeweler, they brainstormed different locations for the trip, and ultimately decided on southern Italy. They both agreed that that would be the most memorable and romantic for Hermione when it came to the proposal.
They walked into the jewelry shop and began looking as the shopkeeper was helping another customer. Ron was browsing along the glass cases when he saw one that caught his eye. It was a yellow gold vintage band with a round brilliant diamond cut in a cathedral setting. There were four single cut accent diamonds on either side of the center stone. The ring was unlike anything he’d ever seen.
“Ah, yes, the brilliant cathedral in traditional gold. This one is rather rare when it comes to browsing patrons,” the jeweler said to Ron. “It signifies the test of time, and is best suited for a couple that is deeply devoted to each other. I haven’t seen a pairing for one of these in quite some time.”
“Oh? Should I, er look at something else?” Ron asked awkwardly.
“No, no, I meant that as a compliment. The ring is sensing the love and devotion you have for your other half. It absolutely suits you.” Harry walked over to see what Ron had found. “I should warn you though, if you choose this one, it’s best not to wait too long. You may lose the strength in the bond it feels.”
Harry tried to stifle a laugh. “Hear that, mate? Don’t wait another seven years to pop the question.”
“Bugger off, Barry.” Ron said (they’d agreed that code names would be best as well, just in case). “I’ll take it,” he said without hesitation.
“Excellent! And might I show your friend a particular piece that I can sense pulling towards him?”
Harry shrugged as Ron eyed him curiously. The shopkeeper let them over to another class case and pulled out a silver band that held a solitaire diamond. “A simple white gold band with a radiant cut diamond. Fit for an easygoing couple that understands balance in an ever busy life.”
Despite Harry’s high profile life, this did fit them well. He and Ginny had always had a mutual understanding of the hardships they’d been through since the war had ended, and they’d worked hard to be more open and candid with each other as a result. The ring certainly suited Ginny’s personality well.
Harry gave Ron a tentative look. “If it feels right, go for it, mate.”
“But this is about you and Helena,” Harry made up a fake name on the spot for Hermione.
“Yeah, but if that’s really what you want with Minnie then go for it. Just, don’t hijack my plans.”
Harry thought for a moment, and knew deep down that ultimately this was the direction he wanted to go in with Ginny. He hadn’t been happier since they were able to pick their relationship back up, and he couldn’t see himself with anyone else. “Yeah, alright, I’ll take it,” Harry said as he broke out into a huge grin.
“Look at us, growing up and thinking about next steps,” Ron said.
“Yeah, who knew we’d even be here to see the day,” he said quietly.
They took turns checking out, setting up transfers to be made from their Gringotts accounts, and once their true identities were revealed, Ron pulled out nondisclosure agreements to ensure their anonymity from the press. This wasn’t something he was going to chance being ruined because of one person.
“That was brilliant thinking, mate,” Harry said as they walked out of the store, still in disguise. “Ready to head over to Globus Mundi?”
“Let’s go. I think we can ditch the disguises there, but let’s transfigure the bags just in case.”
“Good thinking.”
“So when are you thinking of popping the question?” Ron asked him eagerly.
“Well, I’m not going to do it too close to you guys. Was thinking maybe around the holidays. That’ll give Hermione enough time in the spotlight.”
Ron nodded. “Thanks, mate. You’ll be my best man, yeah?”
Harry laughed and said, “Isn’t it a little early to ask? She might not say yes.”
“Very funny, Harry.” Though a look of worry creased Ron’s brows.
“I’m just kidding! Of course, I will, as long as you’ll do the same for me.”
“I don’t know...for a specky git like you? I wouldn’t want to overshadow you with my handsome looks, after all,” Ron said with a smirk.
Harry rolled his eyes. “Yeah, alright, I deserved that.” They both laughed some more.
“Come on, we’ve got a vacation to plan!” as Ron picked up the pace.

THE SCAR
"But it didn't even say what Voldemort was now, didn't describe him or anything," Remus couldn't help but grumble before James could start.
"That's what you're concerned with," Sirius scoffed. "You want to hang up a picture of him now or something?"
"No," Remus rolled his eyes indulgently at the teasing, "but clearly whatever he's using as a body now is weak and vulnerable, I'd like to see just how much so and how easy it would be to destroy."
"Hopefully Harry doesn't find out, but someone just tells him later," James sighed without any hope as he began.
Harry awoke breathing hard, as if awaking from a marathon, a detailed dream still haunting him as he pressed his hands to his scar.
  "Dream huh?" Lily grumbled, wondering at this point if it was even worth it to hope that was true.
The old scar on his forehead, which was shaped like a bolt of lightning, was burning beneath his fingers as though someone had just pressed a white-hot wire to his skin.
Apparently not. She sighed along with the rest of the boys, never appreciating that kind of thing being told without someone around Harry to at least notice and be concerned about it.
He sat up and glanced around his perfectly normal room, still running his fingers over the raised mark on his forehead which was still stinging, then went over to his mirror to inspect it, trying to hold onto the dream. He knew at least two people, the other he had no idea.
"Wait, what?" Remus yelped. He still wasn't sure on why Harry could sense Voldemort even being around because of that scar, now he was seeing things Voldemort had. Remus always looked kind of sickly right after a full moon, but this wasn't his normal pale tone.
"I, I don't know," Harry sighed, recognizing he hadn't really been expected to answer, but those same questions bothering him as well, and he still felt like he should justify himself. "I've no idea why I saw all of that."
The parents still looked shell shocked, so Sirius forced himself to come out of it first, giving Harry a gentle nudge and saying to all of them, "well, we'll figure it out I'm sure." He paused and actually managed to smile despite his own growing worry when Harry looked like he wanted to agree before muttering to himself about his memories some more. "For now let's just hope that's all you'll be seeing, I'd rather this not become a habit."
He finished by giving James an imploring look, one that he did agree with, and so just forced himself to keep reading, mostly since none of them had any answers to give even if they did keep sitting around to think about this.
He forced himself to concentrate, trying to hold onto the details. He was sure of the dark room, the snake, the man named Wormtail,
"Thanks, because I hadn't gotten rid of that reminder yet," Sirius hissed under his breath, unbelievably he'd found that this still bothered him less than what was going on with Harry, and that wasn't necessarily a good thing.
and the voice of Voldemort. Harry kept his eyes screwed tight to try and remember what he'd looked like, but he couldn't grasp hold of that. Just that the moment the chair had turned, he'd felt a shot of fear that had awoken him along with the pain of his scar.
"Okay, okay," Lily said, trying to keep her voice as calm as possible. "So, Harry wasn't actually seeing what Voldemort was or any connection to him, he was just seeing that room, at that time, for some reason..." she trailed off miserably as this still helped nothing, and they had no idea why this could be happening. *
He also had no idea who that old man could have been, just that he'd watched as he fell.
They all gave a horrible wince at that, never wanting their Harry in the same room as someone who had just been murdered! He'd already had to suffer through that once with his own mother, and thankfully he'd been too young to even realize that until those bleeding dementors had exposed him to the memory. They did not want that to linger in him at all!
He was losing his grip, it was all swirling together in confusion, and the more he stood there the foggier it got.
"Why would you want to remember this?" James shuddered, wanting to erase those images from his own mind, let alone letting Harry dwell on them.
Voldemort and Wormtail had been talking,
James still couldn't read that name without a ferocious bite to his words, let alone side along with Voldemort's name!
about plots to kill someone, himself.
Lily groaned, shaking all over and wanting to steal away her infant from Remus, to go to Harry's side and never let go, she just didn't want to keep hearing about her baby being in an attempted murder, even if it never happened! She stayed herself though, thinking she'd look ridiculous for overreacting like that when clearly they were both fine now.
Harry sighed and began looking around his room again, finding nothing lurking.
That gave them all another shot of hate, though for a different reason this time as they remembered all over again what house Harry was most likely at. These stupid books had yet to just skip to Harry going to Ron's place, no so far they'd had to suffer at least some time of Harry at the Dursley's expense, and they had no faith this time would be any different as the book had already referred to Harry being in his room. It was all the more bitter when they had just been so close to Harry getting out of there via Sirius, how clearly at least some time had passed and Sirius was probably still in the exact same situation as when they'd left him, and it wasn't making any of them feel any better.
The book goes on to cover descriptions of Harry's room, including his school supplies, which Harry was lucky to have in his room. Laying on the floor just underneath his bed was the Quidditch book he'd fallen asleep reading, the pictures still zooming along.
"Ah falling asleep to a Quidditch book," Remus tried for a soft joking tone, looking for anything pleasant to think on, and at least this was still something he could grasp that rat couldn't take away from him. "James would fall asleep like that all the time, Sirius swore it was the one way to make him settle for five minutes straight."
"Because it always worked," Sirius agreed.
James stuck his tongue out at the pair, but didn't deny the claim either.
Harry walked over to put it away, even Quidditch, in Harry's opinion the best sport in the world,
"A world renowned opinion that any sane person shares," James agreed with a firm nod, giving his wife an obvious look which she just as obviously ignored.
couldn't distract him at the moment. He placed Flying with the Cannons on his bedside table,
"Bet you Ron got him that one in particular," Sirius smirked, remembering this was Ron's preferred team.
"After he got done memorizing it," Remus agreed.
and instead sat down on the edge of his bed and still tried to focus. The street he lived on still looked like it always did, but Harry still felt off. He started rubbing at his scar again, though it wasn't the pain that was keeping him lingering, he was used to injuries.
"Thanks for that reminder, I didn't want," Lily grumbled, trying to keep that to herself so as not to spoil the good mood the boys were going for, and yet Harry was probably fixing to ruin it himself if that was any start.
In second year he'd lost all the bones in his right arm, and had them painfully regrown in a night.
"Memorable," Remus nodded in agreement.
"And I still owe that idiot one for that," James agreed.
The same year and arm had been pierced by a venomous fang not long afterward.
James quickly lost his stride and turned an ugly green color at the reminder, as if he wanted to be the one to read that reminder! He still felt vomit slick on his tongue at that recurring nightmare.
Only last year Harry had fallen fifty feet from an airborne broomstick.
"None of this is even touching on the times you weren't injured but gave us heart failure in first year," Sirius sighed, running his hand through his hair to check and make sure it hadn't gone gray yet.
So no, pain wasn't new to him, accidents like that were almost common at Hogwarts, and for Harry in particular who had a particular knack for finding trouble.
"Now that one I'll give you," Remus nodded fairly. "We haven't even told you about the time James kept walking into walls all day, and nearly broke his neck falling down a flight of stairs, and it wasn't because Sirius stole his glasses again."
"One time, I did that one time on a dare," Sirius said dramatically, pointing an accusing finger at the pair, "and you never let me forget it."
"Never will," James laughed, touching the ridge of his glasses possessively.
Even Lily couldn't argue this point, magic was dangerous and a school full of children learning to use it could cause accidents, just not the life and death kind her son usually found.
No, what was bothering him was the parts about Voldemort, how the last time he'd felt this kind of pain he'd been around Voldemort, who couldn't possibly be in Private Drive now, right?
Harry felt a chill crawl up his spine, that felt ominous to him, and not something at all he wanted to linger on.
He let his ears linger, but all he could hear were the sounds of the Dursley's snoring.
Sirius couldn't help a snorting noise that sounded much the same to Harry, he just couldn't help picturing his pup being all tense and jumpy and then nearly hitting the ceiling because of that harmless noise.
Harry shook himself, he was being stupid.
"Not stupid," Remus argued at once, "it's never stupid to be cautious and prepared. You're going off of an experience from before and trying to do the same thing now."
Harry nodded in agreement, but still couldn't shake that bad feeling that he was getting more insight into Voldemort then he ever wanted, and it wasn't going to go away anytime soon.
There was no one in the house with him except Vernon, Petunia, and Dudley,
"Though they do give me plenty cause for worry," Lily snapped.
and they were noisily still asleep, their dreams untroubled and painless.
"For now," James muttered with pure venom, knowing that too wouldn't last long when they could leave this place again, and those Dursley's would soon be having nightmares for the rest of their short lives about him.
Asleep was the way Harry liked the Dursley's best;
"Not breathing at all is how I like them best," Sirius grumbled.
it wasn't as though they were ever any help to him awake. The Dursley's were Harry's only living relatives.
The two parents still felt a terrible twitch inside of them every time they were forced to hear or say that, still wanting with everything in the world to claim that wasn't true, and still seething every moment it wasn't.
They were Muggles who hated and despised magic in any form, which meant that Harry was about as welcome in their house as a wet cat.
Sirius gave a terrible sneer, now hoping his own name would be cropping up very soon just so he could hear about how terrified they were of him, that they'd been treating Harry like a prince since they found out what would happen to them otherwise by Sirius if they didn't.
They had been lying to the neighbors about where Harry had been over the past three years by saying he went to a local place for criminal boys.
"Oh thank you, because we really wanted to be reminded of that," Remus sighed with an eye roll, that stupid lie still making him want to give them a few special curses.
The Dursley's were well aware that Harry wasn't allowed to do magic during his summer holidays, but they were still quick to blame him for any little strange thing that happened. Harry knew better than to ask them for advice on anything happening in his life, even imagining going to ask Petunia for advice on his Voldemort questions was laughable.
James and Lily slumped back in their seats, still not able to knock aside the image this shouldn't be Harry's life, he should have been able to go in their room at fourteen and wake them and tell them of this terrible thing he was fearing and they could soothe him just fine then like they were now.
It was in fact Voldemort's fault that Harry was forced to live with the Dursley's, as he'd been the one to murder James and Lily Potter, and curse Harry with his lightning scar when he failed to kill him.
Lily groaned and began rubbing furiously at her temple, dearly tempted to just beg James at this point to skip this part. She hadn't thought it possible before, but hearing this over and over again, and now with a real person to blame for the source of it, still somehow got worse every time.
This had all happened when Harry was barely a year old, and the Darkest wizard in history had arrived on Halloween, killing his father and mother.
'In that order' James still mentally ragged, still hating himself for not having stalled Voldemort long enough for his wife and son to get out, thinking that if he could only fix one thing he'd make sure it was that.
Voldemort had then turned his wand on Harry; he had performed the curse that had disposed of many full-grown witches and wizards in his steady rise to power -
"Did, did someone tell you what that spell was?" Remus managed to stutter out, not wanting to think about this more than anyone else, that vivid mental image of James and Lily still left dead to be discovered by Sirius still leaving him a ragged mess, but sometimes he really couldn't stop himself from blurting out those questions.
"No," Harry mumbled, not meeting anyone's eyes, always hating himself for thinking on these things so much during the summer because somehow either of his parents always ended up being one of the ones to read about it. "Just kind of put that together back from what Hagrid had told me."
Of course there was one spell they all thought had been used, but there was no barrier for that spell, no way could anyone survive it, so it must be something else other than Avada Kedavra.
but it hadn't worked on Harry, leaving the infant to grow up in the Muggle world, unaware his name was now used as The Boy Who Lived,
"I still struggle to remember that part," James grumbled, always having wanted his name to be famous, and that mockery still smarting just as much now as when he'd first learned this.
the savior who had defeated Voldemort. No one had seen the Dark Lord since then, and many theorized he had fled with his powers gone, his followers had dispersed. Harry had been unaware of all of this until his eleventh birthday, when Hagrid had arrived to swoop him into his rightful place at Hogwarts.
Sadly Harry was now on his vacation from school, and counting down the days until he could go back. His birthday had already passed, and at least this year he'd received cards from his friends again. What would they say now if Harry wrote to them and told of his scar hurting?
Sirius couldn't help a tiny frown, realizing that of course Harry would want to tell his friends before him, he had known them longer, but still hoping he at least made the list. Then he wondered if he was even still in regular contact with Harry, being on the run probably didn't make for great communication.
He pictured Hermione first, her voice going shrill with worry as she mentally demanded if Harry was serious,
"No, I'm really Sirius," Sirius smirked, still not regretting it one bit as everyone else groaned but Harry still cracked a smile at that gag.
and that he should write to Dumbledore at once while she checked the nearest book on Magical Maladies.
"I sincerely doubt that," Remus smiled, thinking Harry had his friend spot on at this reaction. Remus had never even technically met Hermione and he could picture her at once doing these exact things.
Harry had his doubts about this though, since he was the only known person to have survived this and he doubted she'd find his problem in any book.
"Something we're still thankful for," James said at once with a forced smile.
"Even if we do question it to kingdom come," Remus sighed.
Plus he couldn't picture informing the headmaster of the school much good either, he wasn't even sure what Dumbledore did during his summer vacation.
"That still shouldn't stop you from sending Hedwig, she'd still find him," Lily shrugged, her opinion of Dumbledore at an all-time low after what had been implied he'd done to Sirius, but unable to deny he should still be informed of this.
He amused himself for a moment, picturing Dumbledore, with his long silver beard, full length wizard's robes, and pointed hat, stretched out on a beach somewhere, rubbing suntan lotion onto his long crooked nose.
Remus didn't even try to smother a blithe laugh, that wasn't something he'd ever thought up before. It didn't totally erase his own pondering question that just now occurred to him, whether he, like Sirius, would even be considered written to about this? Harry had made no indication at the end of last year this would be a thing, and he wondered if he was giving himself too much credit. Harry may not have been showing it now, but he had basically lied to the boy all year about things he really should have told Harry instead of being the coward he was and barely acknowledging him as anything other than a student. He resisted asking Harry, deciding he couldn't begrudge him if he never spoke his name again for that reason alone.
Even writing the letter in his head sounded stupid 'Dear Professor Dumbledore, my scar hurt, have a nice summer.'?
"That about covers it, yeah," James nodded like this made perfect sense.
"Might want to throw something in about the weather," Sirius offered, "just to keep things polite."
Lily released a snort of mirth, knowing these boys meant it and they probably would do something like this, as collective all three boys didn't own an ounce of subtleness.
Even inside his head the words sounded stupid.
"Don't see why that should stop you," Remus shrugged, clearly meaning it, making Lily start giggling even harder and for Harry to join in after a moment, to the blank faced confusion of the boys. James just ignored it though, still continuing.
So Harry instead changed focus to Ron, and instead imagining him saying something about how if You-Know-Who was back around, well he'd be trying to do Harry in again wouldn't he?
"So glad I didn't seem to hurt Ron's personality as much as his leg," Sirius gave a weak laugh at that, some lingering guilt still getting to him for that, but positive if he'd done anything permanent it would have been mentioned at the last book so he tried to let that one go.
Then he decided he'd probably ask his dad.
"Sadly, not Arthur's department," Lily sighed, and meaning it. She'd love for Harry or at least Harry's friend to know someone who did have a more hands on knowledge about this type of thing, but since Harry's situation was unique and no one really qualified under that, she didn't see it happening.
Harry doubted this would help though, as Arthur Weasley worked with Muggles for a living, and Harry didn't particularly fancy his stay there soon crowded with his one minute jump about a small pain.
"Jumpy is a bit strong," Sirius shrugged, "you're being legitimately concerned about something that's troubling you."
"Yeah, but it still sounds ridiculous out loud, my scar hurt while I was sleeping," Harry shrugged, still trying to brush it off now like he had then. It wasn't working as well, they each gave him a knowing look saying they didn't agree, but since he didn't want to linger on this anymore with them then he had his friends he still waved his dad on.
Mrs. Weasley would fuss and Fred and George would think Harry was losing his nerve.
"Oh the horror," James couldn't stop a smirk, knowing the way to stop any boy from doing something was the fear that his peers would think him weak.
Harry was expecting an invite there any day now, as Ron had offered him to go to the Quidditch World Cup,
Even with the terrible start they'd had to this book, none of them could stop themselves from perking up with interest at the mention of this! Even Lily wanted nothing more than to go a whole chapter of hearing nothing more than some innocent fun of a sport, to go without the fear of something happening to or even around Harry! Ron really needed to hurry up with that letter.
and he somehow didn't want his visit punctuated with anxious inquiries about his scar.
"I can sympathize that," Remus nodded seriously, that having been a problem once or twice over his own summer holidays, and much rather not talking about where he'd given himself a new scar.
It wasn't the same, but he did get where Harry was coming from at least.
Harry slumped back on his bed, feeling ashamed to admit it even to himself, but he knew what he really wanted in this moment was someone like a parent.
James could not stop his voice from wavering, his tone switching from a forced neutral to that same empty feeling he kept getting, but he forced himself to clear his throat as hard as he could to get rid of it, and looked Harry in the eye which helped as he declared, "that is not shameful. That is something everyone needs, and-" his words only halted for the briefest second, the other three may not even of noticed even if Lily did, "you've got a pretty good substitute." He finished with a slight incline at Sirius.
Sirius couldn't help a little smirk, all too pleased James had just admitted he could be counted on for giving any good advice as he knew his best friend would regularly deny that, hoping very much himself now that Harry would tell him about this.
An adult he could turn to without feeling like a fool, who cared about him and knew something about Dark Magic, and the answer came to him in a flash, Sirius.
"That's okay, he's usually the last person on everyone's mind," Lily snarked, her smile only broadening when Sirius stuck his tongue out at her, which still didn't erase his grin that Harry thought that about him.
Harry bounded from his bed at once and pounced on the nearest bottle of ink to begin writing, wondering how to start, and still stemmed that he hadn't thought of this sooner.
"What's there to phrase?" Remus shrugged, still almost successfully ignoring that small little sting he clearly hadn't crossed Harry's mind, and he now officially doubted he would at all as he was sure if he had it would have been right along with Sirius. "Just tell him hey, my scar hurt, how are you, Harry."
"You lot are just so loquacious," Lily rolled her eyes, knowing full well Remus still wasn't joking. They may talk their heads off, causing them to take forever just to get through one chapter, but clearly having no idea how to correctly put said things to ink, something she was well aware from the letters she received from James.
To be fair he had only found out that Sirius was his godfather two months ago.
"Well technically you found out during your Christmas break, like seven months ago at that point," Sirius shrugged.
"I didn't think it counted up until the two month point," Harry muttered with a slight blush. Now that he knew how wrong those feelings were, he never wanted to revisit his initial reaction to finding out about Sirius again, and no one argued the point.
The reason Sirius hadn't just been there all of Harry's life was because he'd been living it in Azkaban,
"And a thank you for that reminder as well," James shuddered with still fresh horror of Sirius being in there, successfully pushing that stupid little green ball of envy away that Harry was turning to Sirius for something like this, of course James was happy Harry had someone like that, no it had nothing to do with the fact James still wanted that to be him!
the worst prison a wizard could be taken to as it was run by dementors. Sirius had managed to escape though after twelve years, of wrongfully being in there. He'd gone out after the true criminal Wormtail, who everyone thought to be dead.
"I wish," Remus growled, causing the baby in his arms to give a slight stir of discomfort, forcing Remus not to continue even though James still did under his breath for a moment before collecting himself.
Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Dumbledore were the only ones who knew the truth now,
Remus now brought the little baby up and placed him gently on his shoulder like he was repositioning him, just to ignore that little smack he hadn't even been mentioned. Great, Harry forgot he even existed now.
forcing Sirius to still be on the run. For only one short hour when Harry had first learned the truth, Sirius had offered Harry a home to come to until they'd realized he had to run, because Wormtail had escaped with the Ministry still none the wiser.
James had only managed to get through all of that, again, by intermittently repeating several things he never would have considered saying in the first place, but that fire hungry rage was back and he'd still much rather be on a rampage looking for that stupid rat then revisiting this, well misfortune was putting it kindly.
Now with Sirius out of the country, that promised home life had been snatched away, which had made his return to the Dursley's all the more sour this time.
Lily wrapped her arm tightly around James waist, her nails digging into his hip but neither of them really noticing because they would still take Sirius in a heartbeat, mild jealousy and all, just for that to still be true and soon!
Sirius had still been of some help to Harry, even if he couldn't be with him.
"Well this at least ought to be fun," Sirius muttered, still looking just as surely and violent and doubting that would change any time soon.
It was the influence of Sirius that Harry even got his stuff in his room, as the Dursley's now lived in fear of doing anything to upset Harry, unlike before where they would lock his stuff along with him under the cupboard under the stairs.
"That's the least terrible thing they've done," Remus still grumbled under his breath.
Now that Harry had his godfather as even a vague oversight, they all feared Harry even more, as Harry had conveniently forgotten to mention the part where Sirius was innocent.
"Ha!" Sirius hadn't expected the bark like laugh to escape from him, but he didn't try to smother it either as it subsided into childish giggles that Harry was using that card, and he couldn't be more proud!
"My little Marauder Junior," James cooed happily, his eyes shining with mirth and pride, "playing them like that about scary old Padfoot."
"I don't know Prongs," Remus gave a wicked grin, "I still wouldn't put it past him to not be innocent much longer when he meets them in person."
"We can only hope," Lily nodded with a devilish grin.
Harry was giving half hearted laughter at what he hoped was all teasing.
Harry had received two letters from Sirius since he had been back at Privet Drive.
Sirius beamed, just happy he could be sending letters at all! He of course wished it could be more frequent, but he'd take anything to hear he was still looking out for Harry and still able to.
Both had been delivered, not by owls, but toucans.
Harry wasn't the only one who made a startled little noise at that, as he happily exclaimed, "I didn't even know you could use anything other than owls."
"It's like with owls in the wild," Sirius happily smirked, now thinking he wouldn't mind getting his pet owl Buggle a friend, those exotic birds sounded cool. "It's not impossible to find some intelligent enough to be pulling this off, just a little more difficult."
"Unless it was the same one twice, and you made a new friend," Remus teased.
Both of which had contained well wishes for Harry, promising he was doing fine himself, though never saying where incase the birds were intercepted.
James carefully placed the book down and marked his spot before actually applauding Sirius, who happily chucked a pillow at him to shut him up, grumbling about how he could be plenty smart when he wanted to. James was still snickering to himself as he kept going.
Harry really liked the idea of Sirius somewhere with bright sunshine, it was harder to imagine the dementors lingering in the south.
"They can survive in sunlight, sadly," Remus couldn't stop himself from correcting, "they turn the environment so unpleasant it suits them, so sadly you still don't have a real advantage."
"And this is why you made a great teacher," Sirius rolled his eyes at him, "you, are a killjoy."
Remus made a face at him but declined responding, that stinging more than he'd expected it to.
He'd finished each letter off with the reminder Harry could call on him about anything, well Harry needed that now. It took him quite some time to write the letter to his satisfaction, but finally Harry had the completed note, which began by telling Sirius about Dudley's diet.
"Dudley's on a diet!?" Lily repeated, looking nearly faint from shock and trying to peak off James to see if he was fibbing that part.
"Don't think there's a diet in the world to fix that mess," Remus gagged, remembering his last description hadn't been a kind one.
"I just can't believe his parents are doing it, not to their precious little blimp," Sirius managed to both crinkle his nose in disgust at the remembered size of that kid and still sounded disbelieving.
Harry had a slight grin on his face as he nodded confirmation that was true, the memory easily resurfacing now about the pre-tantrum to this having occurred.
Petunia had caught him smuggling sweets into his bedroom and had told him if he did it again they'd take away his allowance, causing Dudley to have such a fit he threw his PlayStation out the window.
Before James could break off to ask, Harry inserted, "I tell Sirius what it is."
Which Harry explained for the pureblood was a sort of computer thing you can play games on.
James was pretty dang proud of himself that of all the trivial things he'd learned in these past few days, he actually still remembered what a computer was, and he didn't have to ask again.
Harry reflected he found the whole act rather stupid, as now his cousin didn't have Mega- Mutilation Part Three to entertain himself.
All four of them went blank faced at that though, finding the title a pretty odd one, and quite violent for a children's game.
He promised that he was okay, mostly because the Dursley's had a fear Sirius would show up whenever Harry asked and turn them all into fruit bats.
"That's still pretty tame, and a little foreboding," Sirius muttered, his eyes narrowing with distaste, hoping he'd gotten around to asking in his other two letters why Harry wouldn't be okay there otherwise. Harry kept himself as unconcerned as possible, still avoiding all eyes and really hoping this subject would just be glossed over again, soon.
He did add on, almost as an afterthought, that his scar had hurt him this morning. He wrote about how the last time that had happened, Voldemort had been at Hogwarts. That wasn't happening now though, right?
"Thankfully we know the answer to that," Lily still couldn't stop one last shudder, hoping that distance never lessened any.
Then asked if it was common for old scars to pain years later?
"Sadly not," Sirius sighed, wishing he was more of an expert on that subject, but still feeling touched Harry trusted him enough to ask at all.
He signed off and decided against adding the dream,
"Got too agree with you on that part, Sirius might blow up an island in agitation," Remus tried for a joke, though it came out more feeble than he'd meant as he wasn't too sure he wasn't wrong, Sirius still looked so agitated about who all had been in that dream.
he didn't want it to look as though he was too worried.
"I'll bet I saw right past that even in that letter," Sirius still scoffed, looking abundantly pleased with himself, a little too much in James opinion.
He set the paper aside for when Hedwig came back, then headed down to breakfast.
"Joyful," James grumbled, giving the book a hard toss to Sirius who deftly caught it and went, none too happy, to the next chapter.

*Now someone out there, help me with this one, because I'm lost. In every future thing like this, Harry does see from Voldemort's perspective, but this was the same third person perspective as if Harry really had just been looking in the window. That's never explained...and I've got nothing. Harry isn't a Seer, he never has this ability around Voldemort again, I really have no way to explain this. It's from Frank's point of view, and he has no mental connection to him. Would love to hear some theories.
