BLOG ANNIVERSARY (KIND OF....)

It’s been a year since I revived this little blog of mine with this silly piece on that day! I created this blog in 2019 but I barely used it and there used to be only CRK content 💀, it'd be 5 years old by now sheesh… This date means a lot to me! I used to post art while the account was on its first days! My passion stopped a few years ago due to mental health issues but I think it was for the best to wait until I had a maturity for it...that was until PT was a thing and I haven’t left haha… I was so scared posting my art back in the day since it’s been a while. Little did I know that this would be the start of a new journey! ♡

After seeing others notice my work, I became more active (esp. after October and onwards) and now I’m here! We’re only halfway through the first full year of constant art posts! This was one of best choices I ever made! Not only did it help me grow as an artist but as a person! ♡

The growth of this blog feels surreal to me! I never thought there’d be so many! The follower count here went from 15 to 250-ish as if now! Ya’ll are so sweet and talented, I swear! I feel so grateful meeting ya'll! I really should open myself more! 😭❤️ ♡

I’ve never thought I’d felt so seen and I'll always know someone is out there to support me and my work! Most importantly, it accomplished one of my biggest art goals: to connect but also to uplift other people! It’s so fun seeing how much my art has evolved! You can definitely see the improvement! There were some ups-and-downs but I learned overtime not to go hard on yourself and be proud of the things you make! Never have I ever had such a large creative outlet in such a long time! I feel so proud of my accomplishments and I haven’t felt this excited in years! (the reblogs/comments especially but anything really shaldldaskdl, I think my fam knows that I tend to get extremely loud when it happens, haha)! ♡

Thank you everyone for checking out this silly blog! I wouldn’t be here without ya! It reminded me of the things I loved doing and I’m glad I’m back to it! Here's more to come, I will keep doing my thing! ♡

Magical guardian Py!! This is my magical girl sona design ✨

This is the page I drew when finalizing the concept and to serve as reference, but I plan to draw this design a lot more to represent myself! The little fox there is a little magical mascot/familiar based on an imaginary friend I made when I was little kid. I got some more notes about my process below!

A few years back I made a magical girl outfit design for myself because I love magical girl stories and designs, and you can do whatever you want forever! I HIGHLY recommend that anybody who feels comfortable depicting themselves to make a sona based around something you absolutely love. It's a lot of fun!!! I think at this point this design has gone through about 4 main iterations? I expect more tweaks in the future because I always like to have a design that reflects me and currently this is what I'm really vibing with! Tweaking this took SUCH a long time to get to something I really love right now, so this really feels like a triumph. When I set out to design this, I had created a bit of a wishlist of aesthetics and other elements I wanted, and then it was a matter of balancing everything visually and making some choices to remove and heavily tweak aspects of it so it wouldn't be too cluttered or lose visual harmony. I also played around with the lengths of different parts of the outfit for visual interest.

In this design are a few nods to some magical girl designs I still really love, but in recent time I feel like there's been a bit more inspiration from european renaissance fashion seeping in because I've been dabbling into period accurate costuming! Now, it's not at ALL accurate in this design but that's not really the point; I just wanted to give the sleeves and breeches that extra poof 👌 The rest of it just just really self indulgent, like the big butterfly wing cape was an ABSOLUTE must for me. My favourite colour is featured prominently. I wanted the inner wings and bow to look like the night sky or kind of galactic so that all those sparkles would really show up and evoke stars, but the orange pinks on other elements of the outfit compliment the blue-greens and give the look and overall sunset/sunrise at twilight vibe.

Another batch or Mr. Puzzles quick sketches. I kept forgetting to draw his side pocket in the last couple ones. Random character featured in the little comic-ish Live Interview is some version of doodlesona. Can’t guarantee the dialogue will be believable/sound in character for Puzzles because honestly I’m still working on understanding his talking style and when he sarcastically jokes around or when he chooses to be serious and drop performance act. I've been extra in love with my sonas lately so gladly!!

I have multiple so...putting under a read more because I'm about to get wordy with it. Very, very, very wordy. Anyone looking has been warned.

I'm going to start with my most recent one.

Dezrin

They came about because for years now I've had an affinity for chickens. I feel like it started a long time ago when I was experimenting with what animals I thought suited me over the course of many months. I had this transitional phase in my art and inspirations where I went from feeling very much like the only thing in the whole world that could possibly be representative of me was some kind of canine/vulpine, to knowing that wasn't really true anymore. It was a weird time. Ever since I started drawing more seriously at ten years old I was drawing wolves and dogs, and they stayed as my main thing for years.

At some point I got into other stuff and my interests shifted, and I kept coming back trying to make some sort of dog or fox work as a sona again. In the meantime I had gotten into My Little Pony and then later Starbound, and I was drawing different subjects, using new styles, and learning how to portray bipedal, humanoid animals. I was drawing all these new things and learning so much and changing.

Starbound got me drawing birds and bird furries a whole bunch which is where I finally took that leap to being a furry the way most people think of them (I definitely always have been one, but outside of silly doodles I did not usually draw my characters as actual true bipeds who wore clothes and I was more into furry media with animals still otherwise looking/acting like animals. You know, Lion King and Balto and all that.)

After I got more comfortable with it, I made a few bird fursonas over time. I would pick a bird species I thought was cute and try to make it a character, but they never stuck for long. They never....felt right? I stayed emotionally distant from them. They were all species of sparrows or songbirds or other small seed-eating birds. I would draw them maybe a few times, pair them with my partner's sona who was a bird at that point, and then never draw them again.

At some point, I remember in my sketchbook I was playing around and I asked myself, "If you were to pick a kind of bird you would really like a sona to be, what do you feel fits? Or that is just fun to draw?" I was pretty into owls in the moment, and I drew some kind of owl-chicken hybrid creature. I thought chickens would suit me because they're usually pretty flightless and unassuming, and I just...liked owls. I still do but they were a specific favorite for a while. Honestly I think the Guardians of Ga'Hoole movie did something to me for a long time (no I did not read the books unfortunately, but I do want to as an adult sometime. That movie was gorgeous though.)

That character I drew did not become anything more. I'd show it if I had it but it's buried in old sketchbooks in a box I don't even have access to at the moment. I drew it maybe a few times on a page and moved on. Something about it stuck with me though. I think I even drew it with a fairly large build and gave it a menacing beastliness.

I don't know when my chicken infatuation really took hold but at some point in the last several years I fell super in love with chickens. Maybe I had seen some in person or something. Or honestly, most realistically, my guess is that it was the Instagram accounts I followed that posted them sometimes, then later tumblr blogs that would share them too. I don't use Instagram anymore but I believe I followed someone for their art, and they also posted about chicken-keeping sometimes. They're really cute and special animals! I also fell super in love with pigeons as a separate incident and a lot of people that keep pigeons seem to keep chickens, so you'd often see both.

Anyway, they've been on my mind for a long time now. I was no good at drawing them however so I think that kept me from doing much with it. I started drawing them in my sketchbook sometimes for fun, and I also got really into cockatrices. I mean...it's basically a big chicken-dragon. That rules. Then I thought....what if a chicken had lycanthropy but for turning into a cockatrice?

(As an aside, part of my cockatrice obsession was entirely the fault of the RLCraft pack. I already thought they were neat, but I was playing it with my partner for a while some time ago. I started a chicken farm because it's me playing Minecraft so of course my priorities included chicken farming. They always do. Also it was the one thing I felt like I had any control of in that hellscape. I loved playing it but I died 500 times. Anyway, a chicken laid a rotten egg and I had no idea what that was about. I picked it up and chucked it and a baby cockatrice came out. I think I yelped and was like OH GOD WHAT IS THAT AM I GOING TO DIE?? But then realized it was just chilling and it followed me around. I raised it to be an adult and I loved this thing more than anything else in that pack. I was protecting this girl with my life. I ended up with a shack full of like 5 cockatrices that I never let out because I didn't want them to blow up, and their models are so cute!!!! It gave me a brain parasite that made me obsessed with them really really bad.)

The concepts I started with were for an OC who is a very sweet hen lady that gardens and wouldn't hurt anything, but is cursed to turn into a horrible beast uncontrollably. Classic werewolf-styled stuff. She was going to be a salmon faverolles chicken, if you're wondering. She had a big fluffy face beard and a light coloring. I've never posted her or even fully concepted her, she just lived in my head. Maybe there's a sketchbook doodle of her somewhere.

However, I am terrible at making OC's with backstories that stick these days. I don't know why, I think I just lose interest in their specific stories too quickly. I loved the idea of the character more than the particular way it was being portrayed. I think she would make a great OC but I just never got into it enough to see the concept through as it was.

I believe when I started the concepts for Dez that I actually had not given up on the OC idea, but had decided that a chicken becoming a cockatrice was so fucking cool that I wanted to make a sona that does that as well. Dez is my most recent finalized design for a sona, and before zem, I had mostly soft and cute sonas. My other current ones aren't particularly rowdy or aggressive or scary in any way, as I don't see myself as such, but I do also have a side to me that fucking loves horror and monsters and sometimes I just really love drawing a little maiming and killing as a treat. I wanted Dez to connect to that.

Not to mention the gender vibes. I learned that a lot of chickens have some fun gender stuff about them such as hens starting to crow and develop spurs, and roosters that lay eggs. As someone with characteristics that don't align with expectations myself, I always think that's cool as fuck. I also just generally love a visibly androgynous sort of look in a character if I can achieve it, and chicken traits play into that extremely well.

I think that mainly sums up why zeir species is what it is. Have some concept art starting from the end of 2022 for making it this far.

Vitri

The sketches shown are actually more how I draw them now but I have not had time to update the reference.

Vee's story is a lot shorter. I've always liked dragons. I love dragons. I was basically born loving dragons. No matter what phases I've gone through or what stage of life I find myself at, I love dragons. This is just a truth of my soul.

That, and also the fact that when I started playing Roblox in late 2021, I eventually realized there were ways to make your avatar entirely an anthro character. At the time there were a lot less options than there are if you look at the marketplace right now, but one of the few furry creators of the moment had made some fluffy dragon heads. Vee was the first anthro character I made. I combined a dragon head with anthro shark ears and added horns I liked (the tail was in the set with the head) and I got attached to what I put together.

The reason for choosing what I did was because out of the few furry accessories I could get, the dragon heads were some of my favorites. I liked how they looked, and I liked their versatility. There were only a few color choices so Vee was grey. I gravitate towards greys and less saturation so that was an easy pick.

They weren't initially meant to represent me or be a fursona, but by nature of representing me in a game and me imprinting on them they became one of sorts.

Anyway....dragon good.

Zaedys

Similarly short, similar explanation: I always loved dragons. Naturally, I played Spyro since the PS1 was one of my main systems growing up. I played it a lot! Specifically the first one, it's my lifelong favorite.

A lot of areas of it are home to me so at one point I made a self-insert for the world. I'm a bitch who loves a fluffy character so I made them be the same species/type as the dragons that you find in the cold ice caverns of the desert realm because they read as having fur to me from their textures.

Easily summed up with 'I love dragons and I love Spyro so what if I was something like Spyro?'

Rainy

My beloved little bunny. My darling creature. I love this thing.

I made them in 2017. My thought process was something like, "Well shit. Every attempt I make at making a new fursona is failing miserably. I don't vibe with being a fox or a dog anymore. I don't even know what the hell I am now. I like deer but I made a deersona and they still don't feel truly correct. I'm a quiet, anxious creature. What fits that??"

I had been going with deer and deer traits in my concepts for a while, and that seemed almost correct. It was so close. There was just something missing.

I started sketching in my sketchbook, as I always do when I can't figure something out, and I ended up with an anthro deer-rabbit. They had lop ears because I think droopy ears are just the cutest, a little bunny nose and face, and antlers and hooves with deer inspired dapple spots. I really, really liked that. I realized I had made a weird jackalope of sorts, which made it even better. Jackalopes are cool! I love bunnies, I love antlers, I love cryptids and weird little beasts. That felt closer to being right than anything had in years.

Then I took that idea and that feeling and I made this:

I had realized I really preferred giving them paws, and that the dapple spots weren't fitting the kind of stormy vibes I wanted out of it. The rest is history. I kid you not, those two colored in ones are the only attempts I ever made at giving them markings with color. Before that I only had maybe a page or two of pencil drawings and they focused more on possible characteristics than patterns.

I saw what I made in the middle and something...clicked. I spent so much time flailing about trying to figure out who I was and how to convey what I was in a simple way online, and they just sort of showed up to take the role. I have since altered minor things about them, but really they are almost entirely the same as they were to start. Notably, the paw pads became blueish-purple in color and took on the shape of clouds and rain. Very small color tweaks may have happened to them but I don't think it went beyond the paws, antlers, eyebrows, and eyelids. It has mostly been to simplify things even more.

It is entirely possible that in my hopefully long time left in this world that one day they might stop feeling like me in the future, but 7 whole years have passed and they still feel like home.

I don't know exactly why they fit so well, to be honest. I guess I just see myself in bunnies a lot. They're quick to startle, find it anxiety-inducing to be outside in the open for long periods, and they spend a lot of time resting in their burrows. When they sleep, they can get really comfortable, and despite being a prey animal with every reason to stay alert and scared, they find themselves flopping over without a care in the world. My rabbit always looked so peaceful when he rested. It was such a stark contrast from his waking demeanor.

As a chronically anxious animal that loves a good sleep myself, they simply seem right. I love making sonas and exploring other designs, but I have yet to make something that gave me the same feeling. I've been established as a rabbit for so long that my friends love to send me bunny memes and tell me that when they see rabbits in person they think of me, and that makes me really happy. When I see bunnies, I do feel some kinship with them I can't explain. Their big ears and little wiggly noses are everything to me.

I have other sona designs I've done before but these are the main ones I use at the moment. I fucking love fursonas.

He loves you! You manoeuvre in the air and swing about just like him! Just that you got webs, cool!

Definitely joins you in hanging upside down, also loving to compete with you (lovingly) to see who can jump the farthest, or who can do the most bomb-tastic somersault with you and you guys have so much fun during patrol it’s not even patrol anymore.

Beating bad guys in the most dramatic, acrobatic way possible is definitely something Bruce and the rest of the brothers all sigh collectively because you two can be pretty chaotic.

But whatever, you two have so much fun jumping around.

Has taken you out on dates as Nightwing and your spider-sona, because even people around the city thinks you two are a match made in heaven. I imagined a pizza guy giving them a box and saying for them to have fun while swinging around with Dick and having pizza in between your teeth while you race to see who can reach the far end of a street whilst swinging and stunting about.

Overall, you two make a loveable couple of acrobats. <3

Jason Todd

He thought you were annoying at first, but even he can’t deny you make his day (most of the time).

He feels a bit irritated yet amused whenever you hang upside down and playfully greet him or joke with him while on patrol, sometimes in secret which scares the shit out of him when you pop out of no where and he starts cussing before letting out a long, exasperated sigh when he looks at you laughing to yourself. Damn spider…

But even so, he can’t help but dote on you, even if you can be an annoying ball of energy sometimes. He just can’t help but let you jump around him with your spiderwebs all over the house when you try to take something from afar, using the webs to pull it towards you. Although… you are a bit bashful and guilty for keeping his tidy room messy with webs everywhere that you help clean up which he appreciates.

On patrols, you’re usually faster than him and sometimes he complains so you just shut him up by scooping him in his arms and holding him by the waist with one hand before web-slinging your way to the location where the criminal gang is as he huffed. From afar at times, it looks like a grown ass man being baby carried or held like a big dog by some spider person across the high buildings, which he gets a little flustered over.

Regardless, Jason still loves you. Just don’t shoot the webs everywhere- <3

Tim Drake

He’s fascinated by you, how your webs work and how you can stick on walls with just your fingertips.

Tim might ask a lot of questions about your anatomy and what your spider body can do which sometimes annoy you but he’s just so curious he can’t help it. Genuinely.

Another one who you scare the shit out of with you surprising him by hanging upside down and popping your head down to face his out of no where, but he’s not like Jason who reacts very… dramatically, he’ll just recover from shock to contort into a pout and maybe gently flick your forehead to tell you to knock it off, although he knows you won’t.

Might be a sap for that upside down kiss where you kiss him upside down and all because of course he would be-

Tim loves asking you to use your web fluid for practically everything now. “Hey, s/o? Could you use your web fluid to stick this circuit board in here?” “S/o could you grab the remote with your web? Pleaseeeee?” “S/o, I kinda need your web fluid to close up the hole in my pants-” sometimes you gotta tell him that’s not gonna work sometimes, and those pants will look weird if you do that-

Damian Wayne

Also like Jason, he found you annoying. But this guy is hard in denial before he admits he even likes you.

Damian, at first, keep scowling at how annoying you can be with your web-slinging for fun and not for patrol, and getting web strings all over his suit after patrol from an intense fight against the criminal gang you two were assigned to take down. Now, he still scowls but with a blush and his heart skipping a beat because he can’t deny how cute you are even if you’re an annoying lil shi- (or maybe you ain’t little but you get the point).

Damian will tolerate you swinging about, although he isn’t scared when you hang upside down to spook him a bit because you literally can’t, his god-like sense of instincts would immediately pick up on you without even needing to turn to face you. Sometimes you joke with him that he has spidey-senses to which he rolls his eyes casually.

He won’t say it out loud, but he thinks you’re a pretty impressive fighter and you kinda remind him of Dick but you’re still unique. He just make sure your web fluids don’t go all over the place that you make a mess of the evidence for the police.

Overall, a tsundere for his spider s/o. <3

Do you have a favorite fan-made Inkling/Octoling hairstyle?

eh, there's a lot of cool ones ive seen but that isnt something i keep track of. when it comes to splatoon oc stuff i p much just keep up with my friends and a select few people. more on brand would be to share some styles from official concept art that i like. for octolings i think these two are really cool, especially the one on the left. the way the upper and underside of the tentacles contrast is very cool

for inklings the one on the left im biased because i used that as inspo for my sona's style. the one on the right i like how its cut into. there's a lot of other concepts im drawn to less so for the shape of the hair itself but for showing interesting colorations and things like. grilling and frying the hair.

related to this, my splatoon OC design take is that its better to not break the 6 tentacle (4 for octolings) guideline. im a firm believer that limitations breed creativity, there is so much that can be done by cutting into tentacles and i think people dont utilize that fact enough. just look at the concept art for inspiration. if you want more strands u can cut into the tentacle vertically, or u can even give them hair extensions. i think you can also stretch the definition of what counts as a tentacle. (however there is some concept art that seemingly breaks this rule. most of it looks really old, and it gets more often broken in octoling designs rather than inklings... a lot of those guideline breaking designs dont look as good imo)

Now I'm gonna be totally honest, I DO have a favorite twin and its Ingo <XDD But I also fully understand and support your point!

What makes Ingo and Emmet so fun and interesting to me is their bond! How they mirror each other, how they interact, their strength as a team! Sure separating them for the angst is great an all- but truly showing them together and more importantly as equals is where the good stuffs at!

This is also why I usually try to wrap up their separation arcs in my AUs, and also don't really enjoy reading any Legends Arceus content.. seeing Ingo alone is not only heartbreaking,, but its also just not as fin. Ingo and Emmet are stronger together :)

later on Midori found Anastasia after she had run away from a battle. She tried to hide but her shiny gold color made that impossible.. Midori took her to Gloria and they took care of her.

Afterwards they met Sylvester..

XDD All of those titles made me laugh! And I see your point, but I have a few counter points to this ask..

For 1, to keep with the theme, I would want to/have to make this cape IRL in order to add it to my sona. Now if the last 4 quilts have shown me anything? Its that I'm not super great at making quilts <XDD

If it was that challenging to make it on a smaller scale? I cant imagine how much trouble I'd have trying to make a full size one! <XDD Plus buying the materials... having to physically get up, go buy the stuff I need and make it. With these health issues I've been battling, that's not something I wanna do atm.. 😅Not to mention with how hot its been lately, I don't think I need a quilt anyways-

And then lastly- I'd have to draw myself with it every time! I like my sona being a simplistic blob that has minimal colors and not much of a model to keep too. I worry a quilt might take that away.. :(((

I altered the story of Welcome Home to make my version of Sally a teenager. So I was thinking she could be bluish-white to look like a young star..? But looking back I don't like the blue.. For story purposes she might stay a teen, but I think I'll keep her yellow <XDD
