   Okay Naruto time travel fic where Team 7 goes back in time to right after the genin exams for the usual reasons but the first thing Naruto does is “accidentally” start a kitchen fire in his apartment so Iruka insists that Naruto move in with him, because Naruto realized the cheat code to getting affection is just playing dumb and letting Iruka be the big brother/mother/guardian figure he wants to be. Like ah yes Iruka-nii-san I’m off on my first mission totally gonna go fine no need to worry whoa you made a bento thanks so much.

 Sasuke and Sakura are also both aware that they need to act child like to maintain cover while they figure out how/when to murder Danzo, Orochimaru, Tobi, and the Akatsuki at large- but they also make fun of Naruto for totally playing it up. They know it’s largely cause he never got that affection the first time around and he’s taking advantage of knowing how to play people a bit better, but also he invited them for a “sleepover” and made them play dumb videogames and they had to go along with it to keep up appearances and they’ll smack him if he doesn’t lay off the childish act a bit.

  Just, yanno, a time travel fic that plays into the fact that Naruto is still an impulsive needy goofball with abandonment issues, Sakura is still an anxious gym rat med-student with an inferiority complex, and Sasuke’s still a traumatized kid with emotional issues who has to resolve his desires for revenge with a general belief in pacifism. One that deals with how their Part 2 personalities might realistically react to being pushed back in time, not just smoothing over their relationships.
