The infantilization of book!Wylan and show!Wylan really needs to be looked at.

This isnt a call out, or trying to hate on anyone, just an overall thing I've seen throughout being in this fandom

In the books while Wylan is a child he is also 16. People underestimate him into innocent and even younger. And while he is naive, this does not make him innocent. He has his own morals, own judgment that havent been ripped away from him yet. He is just trying to survive.

People use the "we could wake them up line" a lot snd I agree! But to also look at the full lines as well

Wylan gestured to the guards. "Is it safe to leave them, you know-"

"Alive? I'm not big on killing unconscious men."

"We could wake them up."

"Pretty ruthless, merchling. Have you ever killed anyone?"

"I'd never even seen a dead body before I came to the Barrel." Wylan admitted.

"It's not something to be embarrassed about," Jesper said, surprising himself a little. But he meant it. Wylan needed to learn to take care of himself, but it would be nice if he could do it without getting on friendly terms with death."Make sure the gags are tight."

This isnt him being ruthless. Its him being logical. He is taking what Jesper says to heart. Wake them instead of killing them unconscious becuase Jesper doesn't want to kill unconscious men. Which they do end up tying the soldier to a pole, not killing them!! Him having morals shouldn't contribute to claims of him being innocent.

Wylan is worried about hurting people but will do so if nessecasry to save his friends. We can see this in the show and books. In the show he does not want to make bombs for Kaz, but does so in the end because he acknowledges he has to survive. He is worried about Alby, but goes along with the plan still.

All these are what makes Wylan, wylan. It is his fundamentals, his morals and idels. They are not however claims to see how sweet and innocent he is and how he was corrupted.

Ontop of this, while it is never y it is hevaily implied that Wylan is also autistic. (Also, correct me if im wrong please, but im pretty sure Jack did talk about this.) Autistic people get infantilizated already, and I've had my own fair share of this as well. ( I am autistic and have a learning disabilitiy, as well a speech impedament that I still struggle with.) I have to work harder to make sure people treat me as a twenty year old. Because that is my age, and there is a significant difference in attitude in how people treat me when they know im autistic, and when they don't.

And for Wylan, I feel like its the same issue. While it may not be intentional, ive been people coo over the fact Wylan has done simple tasks or teen experiences. Him having Jesper read to him, getting flustered when talking to him, Wylan not understanding social cues as well as others and taking things to face value.

You can be excited for him and think it's sweet, but to also acknowledge that there is a line between "Thats adorable" and "He's adorable." Wylan is someone who is neurodivergent. He was extrmetly sheltred as a child and was never given the proper tools to help his dyslexia, due to this he has struggles that shouldn't be overlooked or seen as "cute" when he experiences outcomes due to the situation he was in. Whenever he doesn't understand social cues, i.e., "Whos mark." People giggling and saying it's silly or cute when he doesn't understand the cues. That's infantilizating! You are viewing things he struggles with in the lens of watching a child understanding the world. Which Wylan isn't. He is a teenager, no matter the circumstances. His age should be understood.

This infantilization also effects wesper in how people view the two of them. Many people view black people as "older, the man in the relationship, rugged" while the white person is seen as the "women, younger, more innocent."

Infact, I think the show only worsned it for Wylan. As now there are faces to names.

Jack does have a youthful face, but still looks his age. I have a babyface and even now at 20 I look much older then I did at 16. The same goes for Jack. He cant control how he looks but because of his youthful features people only push for this racially hetaronormative mindset more between Wylan and Jesper (Even if its untitional).

Even Kit looks his age as well and has a baby face. He's 29 right now but was in his mid twenties during filming. Season 1 was filmed back in 2019 but due to covid post production got set back, and season 2 was filmed in the beginning of 2022. But why is it only Wylan who is infantilizated? Jesper struggles just as much with his ADHD and trauma as Wylan does.

Jack and Kit are only one year apart, the same in the books but still ive been Wylan be portrayed as the "poor innocent child who was abused." and Jesper as the "he needs to get over his addiction hes a grown man/ he's too mean to Wylan."

In society now so many black teens are seen as adults and treated as such, while white teens are seen as younger and not pushed so hard. The same can be seen for wesper.

Ive even seen people on Tiktok and other socials claim that Jesper was rude to Wylan and abusive. (WHERE???). Both Wylan and Jesper have said things that hurt the other, and they both apologized for it, and get grilled as well. In the show and books they learn and grow. The infantilization of Wylan doesnt hurt just him but plays into racial stereotypes and also microagressions. Why is it that when the white character is calling someone out its "deserved" but when the black character (who might I add had no idea) makes a side comment he is labled as cruel and abusive?

In so many shows and books the black character is usually portrayed as the joker character. Six Of Crows does this as well, which is something important to not ingore. Jesper is seen as the flirty joke character. However the only difference is soc also show more sides to his character by letting him be vulnerable. Letting Jesper show his struggles to the audience as well, how his neurodivergece effects him, letting him dress in skirts and bold colors that step away from the gender norm. So many times in media the black character is just there for shits and giggles, or is used as the villan/antagonist.

It believe its really important to understand this, and to acknowledge if your infantilizating him, or even using microagressions on Jesper unintentionally, then to learn to understand why and to grow from them.

“Why are you here, again?”

“Because, novice, Kaz doesn’t trust you to be making bombs on your own.”

Wylan made a face. “Oh yes, because they’re so much less likely to blow up in my face with you here overseeing,” he grumbled. Jesper watched as he twisted two wires together, then moved on and studied two powder-filled bottles.

“Less worried about them blowing you up,” Jesper said. “Kaz doesn’t really care about that. You die, he goes back to using Raske, the better demo man.”

“Just because his bombs are bigger doesn’t mean they’re better.”

“Are you saying size doesn’t matter?”

Wylan’s mouth shut with a click, and the furious blush on his face undercut any fear his glare may have caused. Jesper grinned. He did love teasing that blush out of him.

“I’m saying,” Wylan started primly, “that at least mine aren’t prone to explode the second you touch them- don’t.”

Jesper held his hands up in surrender. Wylan rolled his eyes and went back to his chemicals. Most of the flush had died down, but there was still a pink tinge to his cheeks.

“He hired me because I know how to shoot. Best in the Barrel, love,” he said, winking. Then, just because he liked being an asshole, he continued: “Something I’m sure you can’t relate to.”

“I also can’t relate to gambling away kruge I don’t even have yet, but you don’t see me taking every opportunity to mention that, do you? Now, unless you sit still and shut up I’ll accidentally splash spare acid in your eye and then turn you out to wander the streets for a medik blind,” Wylan snapped. His glare was back in full force, and if looks could kill, Jesper probably would have been dead.

He laughed. “I didn’t know you had it in you, novice. I’m impressed.”

“Wasn’t part of my threat about you shutting up?”

“Alright, alright, shutting up. Can’t very well shoot without my eyes, I suppose.” Wylan looked away, and Jesper felt himself grin.

Interesting, he thought, and then: he is cute when he blushes.

Of course I’m doing it, it so freakin cute to think about. Because as a very clumsy person myself, I think we’re fun. Also you didn’t tell me if you wanted romantic or not, so I just did what I felt was right.

Warnings: Reader being a bit of a air-head, small cuts and wounds, short, slight teasing.

You had a funny way of always walking into a room, either it was hitting your hand on the door frame, or tripping somehow. The crows were all over you, maybe just watching and cooing at how clumsy you are.

The first time they really noticed this was when you walked into your own room door, the handle didn’t work right. You couldn’t open it in the first try, and you didn’t even think about it as you tried to walk in but got face full of wood. But when they finally noticed you weren’t going to stop doing it, they fixed the damn thing. Because even if it was adorable, they didn’t like the bruising beginning to form on your forehead or nose.

“Sweetheart,” Nina batted her eyelids at you and stopped you by placing a hand in front of your chest, “There’s a hole in the floor.” She pointed down. A big hole in between the wood planks would sure injure someones leg. She watched your shy smile and look of shame, “Thank you.” Your pout and shyness had her freaking out. Nina just grabbed ahold of your arm and pulled you back and out of the old shop, nothing caught her eyes.

Lets just say you had bruised and small cuts all over yourself. The crows always had a eye on you. You could trip down the stairs again, almost giving them a heart attack when you first did it.

“Ten bucks says he walks into the table.” Jesper jokes and the group glares at him. “Don’t joke like that.” Wylan hit his chest and glared softly at him. “He already did that twice today, he can’t possibly do-” Matthias began to speak until he saw you bump into the table again. Jesper laughed as he called it.

“I swear I’m going to wrap him up with pillows.” Kaz groans and he stands up to make his way over to you. Inej just shakes her head, maybe she was was slightly amused but this was always happening.

Inej eyed you as you talked to kaz with a shy smile and tell him the story, him slightly already teasing you about it. “How he can always be a dangerous to himself at every moment is truly a wonder,” she looked at them and a smirk grew, “But he’s just so cute.”

They always cover the table or corners of everything if you bend down, knowing you’ll most likely hit your previous head. They also carry around bandages and band-aids for you. Anything they can have to prepare they have it. But kisses to each wound you have is a must. Cuddles even for the tiniest scratches.

Wylan doesn’t allow you near his things. Because you accidentally knocked over important vials, or you made a tiny explosion once and he had to pull you into the ground to protect you. “I love you, but this” he smiled while onto of you, not angry at all “This can’t happen again.” And he kissed you on the nose.

But they all tease you any chance they get, like it’s frustrating honestly. “My clumsy boy.” Jesper would say as he helps you down the stairs. Or when Inej would take away anything sharp away from you, “Let me handle these.” And she never let you touch her knives. Kaz wouldn’t let you on mission, but he would let you plan them with him. Because you were pretty smart at those things. Kaz will hold onto your waist when you’re about to fall, he would smirk at you just as acted.

Overall I think they would tease you a lot, even about things that happen months before. But you’re their clumsy man, and they will always love that about you.

I know people have different opinions about whether or not Kaz and Inej would ever get so far as to have biological kids so I'm going to leave it up to you whether the reader is adopted or not.

CW: Kaz and Inej trauma mentioned in passing very briefly no description, swearing,

-Both Kaz and Inej were really scared to have kids because what if they mess it up? What if they pass on their respective traumas? Maybe they just aren't cut out to be parents.

-But then they hold this little baby in their arms for the first time and it's like holy shit? Kaz isn't really an emotional guy but he's just filled with this overwhelming desire to protect this little human because it's so fucking cute and he wants to give them the childhood he never had. Inej just wants to hold you forever and never let go.

-They're obviously very busy people but they take time off their responsibilities for you and kinda just chill for a bit never wanting to miss a moment.

Wylan follows it up with, "Why are you doing this in front of us?", And Kaz says with a straight face "Because no one will ever believe you"

-You have a running bet to see how can sneak up on Kaz.

-Neither of you have been successful

-By the time you're thirteen you start begging your parents to join the crows it does not work.

-But when you turn fourteen you play a lookout on a mission.

-By the time you turn sixteen you are a full member of the crows.

-Neither of your parents are very happy about this but they know you're capable of taking care of yourself.

-Speaking of that if anyone touches you or looks at you they will face a fate much worse then death

-When you start dating your partner faces hours of interrogation not only to figure out if they're trustworthy but also in your parent's opinion "If they aren't willing to sit through hours of your parents yelling at them they aren't the one"

-But you do find someone who had such a slow burn romance with you they didn't even realize you liked each other until they were full on shipping the two of you and you were both hardcore pining.

shadow and bone s2 spoilers ahead!! specifically up to episode 5

this is something that i started thinking about while i was writing my last post about the crows in s2, but i just can’t get over how amazingly jack wolfe not only portrayed but further characterized wylan.

wylan’s characterization in the show is so subtle and that’s so perfect for where he is in the story right now, and what i find most interesting about it is that it factors in that he isn’t a teenager like he was in the books, which is something that i was wondering how they’d pull off because that does make a big difference for wylan’s story.

wylan being an adult in the show means he spent his formative teenage years enduring jve’s abuse, whereas in the books that is when he breaks away. which means that if wylan in the books is deeply insecure, wylan in the show has been pushed to the edge of that insecurity, and IT SHOWS.

in the show, it’s so very clearly not just about his disability anymore. jack characterizes wylan as constantly looking away, covering his face, mumbling and saying what he thinks under his breath, and visibly trying to shrink into himself. just watching him you can tell that this is someone who, putting it plainly, hates everything about himself, and that extension of his shame makes so much sense as a result of the extra years with his father. in many of the scenes he’s in (one that comes to mind is most of the booth scene in episode 2) you get the sense that he’s trying very hard to not take up space, literally and figuratively.

another great example of this is the scene where they’re trying on the komedie brute masks and he says that his is perfect because it covers his whole face. its a subtle throwaway line, but i found it really sad and also really telling— and also really great, subtle foreshadowing of in the books when nina tailors him to look like kuwei and he doesn’t see a reason to care that it might be permanent.

then of course we have jesper coming in with the “i like your face” (eeeee) line, which very well may be the first time adult wylan’s ever been told anything like that. there’s also that little moment when they’re in bed together where jesper comments on liking how he looks in the morning and wylan immediately covers his face and then jesper stops him and kisses him. not only is it extremely fucking cute but also another demonstration of why they’re good for each other.

and the best thing about the emphasis on his insecurity in the show is that it doesn’t eliminate the fact that he can be very confident and forward when his guard is down, which is how he is in the books. one of my favorite scenes in the show is when he tells jesper not to patronize him. and i can’t wait to see the glimpses of his confidence grow more and more frequent as we (hopefully) get the six of crows and crooked kingdom plots, just like they do in the books. all of that being said, i expect an emmy to be reserved for jack for when we get the “he told them everything” scene.

He’d thought about it when he’d seen Wylan, but he’d also thought about it when he’d been alone and could let his imagination run free. “That’s not…” Wylan shook his head and stepped off the ice to reach for his bag and get the water bottle out. “What? That’s not what, Wylan? You ran away, you pretended you didn’t remember anything, and now you’re telling me that you didn’t want to think about it? That’s a really fucking nice thing to hear.” “I didn’t mean it like that!” Wylan got defensive, and it showed in the way he straightened again “How did you mean it then?”

Last night had certainly been something. Of course, Jesper had told Wylan he could call if he wanted to get out of there, but he hadn’t really expected him to take him up on that offer. He was more than glad that he had done so, because that way he’d been able to take care of him a little and watch out that he’d gotten home safe - and then there had been this David guy, who hadn’t left Wylan alone. He’d been just in time, and considering how intoxicated Wylan had been, he wasn’t sure where this might have ended. But all had been well once he’d gotten Wylan into his car and home.

Oh, but Wylan had really tempted him with everything he’d said and done. He was rather cute that way, smiling all the time, looking even softer than he usually did, and the things he’d said to Jesper… Saints, he’d nearly made him weak. Since the Gala, Jesper had been thinking about kissing him again, his eyes drawn to Wylan’s lips time and time again, but last night had been way too tempting, especially when he’d talked about a goodnight kiss. He’d done the right thing. This time, when he kissed Wylan, he wanted both of them to be sober, and he definitely didn’t want Wylan to run away again. They could talk about anything, but running away wouldn’t be an option, and now, Jesper knew where to find him.

And this was where he was headed now. He’d made some coffee at home and was taking two to-go-cups with him. On the way to Wylan’s apartment, he stopped for some croissants, because he wasn’t sure whether Wylan had eaten anything already or not. They hadn’t chosen a time for their training today, but it was just past ten now, so he hoped that Wylan would be awake - and if he wasn’t in the mood or shape to do some training, that would be alright. Mainly, Jesper wanted to make sure and see for himself that he was fine, and he had training with the team later on anyway.

With the two coffee cups and the bag of croissants - in his opinion a good choice after a night of drinks - he set foot into the building and headed straight for the elevator. Admittedly, he felt a little nervous, because he had no idea how Wylan would react, but the worst thing that could happen was that Wylan sent him away. Once at the door, he knocked three times, then tried to listen if there was any movement in the apartment. There was silence, but then he heard something and the door opened a little bit.

“Jesper? What are you doing here?” Wylan peeked at him through the gap, and he could only see half his face. His hair looked wet, but his eyes were bright which was a good sign.

“I didn’t hear from you and since we were actually supposed to train today, I thought I’d come by and see how you were doing.”

“My alarm didn’t go off this morning, so I had no idea what time it was, I’m sorry.” Wylan shook his head.

“Don’t worry. I wasn’t even sure whether you’d be able to get on the ice or not. But I wanted to check up on you, and so I brought coffee and croissants. Can I come in?” He’d just hand it to Wylan if he didn’t want to let him in, but he’d much rather stay.

“I can go on the ice. I just need a minute, because I just got out of the shower.” Wylan opened the door properly now, standing in front of Jesper only in a towel that was wrapped around his lower body, making it very difficult for Jesper not to stare at him. “Make yourself at home, I’ll just get dressed.”

“I don’t have a problem with the view you’re giving me,” Jesper said as he stepped inside and closed the door. Wylan’s back was already turned to him while he quickly walked to what Jesper supposed was the bathroom. He didn’t get a reaction, but this way, he was able to let his eyes trail over Wylan’s backside, the broad shoulders, the slim waist and… scars. He only got a short glimpse at the scars at Wylan’s lower back towards his sides, but that was something he hadn’t expected. And something that made him wonder how he’d gotten them. They weren’t your usual scars from injuries that came with the sport he was doing.

Jesper hadn’t had a lot of time to look around the night before - and it would have been highly inappropriate in his opinion - but he knew where the kitchen was, so he put the croissants and the coffee cups down so he could take off his coat and put it over the backrest of one of the chairs. Then he picked up his own coffee again and took a sip, while looking around. There were a couple of photos of Wylan and his friends, a few plants and flowers, and then there were Comet’s bowls of course. There was a mat beneath them that had a nebula as a motif on it, which made Jesper smile. That also made him realise that he hadn’t seen the cat last night. Maybe, because he’d heard a stranger’s voice, or Jesper hadn’t paid attention because he’d been so focused on Wylan.

It almost felt like he’d conjured the cat up, because he suddenly felt something press against his calf. When he looked down, there he sure enough was, demanding Jesper’s attention, that he very willingly gave him. Crouching down, Jesper held out his hand to the cat to let him sniff first and then decide what he wanted to do. When Comet butted his head against Jesper’s hand, he had to smile and carefully started scratching the top of his head, then over his backside, before he also scratched under Comet’s chin, which seemed to be his favourite.

“I’m a little surprised,” Wylan said, once he was back, making Jesper look up at him from his crouched position. His hair was still damp, showing off the curls even more at the moment, but he was dressed and he looked good in a dark green shirt and a pair of jeans. “He usually hides when there is someone he doesn’t know yet and it takes him some time to come out.”

“I didn’t see him last night, but I guess he heard my voice. Maybe that makes a change.” Carefully, Jesper pulled himself up to his full height, not taking his eyes off Wylan. “How are you feeling? Did you sleep well?”

“That might have something to do with it.” Wylan slowly nodded before he smiled once more at Jesper. “I did, thanks to you. And after the shower I feel rather good. No headache, so that’s a good thing.”

“And you remember everything?”

“Y… yeah I do.” There it was, that beautiful blush that grazed his cheeks, that Jesper really loved to see on him. “Sorry for the way I behaved.”

“No need to apologise. I’m just glad I got there before David convinced you that it would be nice to go home with him.”

“Ugh don’t remind me of him.” Wylan groaned, before he picked up Comet to give him some love.

The way the cat immediately snuggled up to its owner, head pressed against Wylan’s neck, was just too cute. Jesper couldn’t resist and pulled out his phone to take a photo of the two of them. Wylan didn’t seem to mind, and that was the best part of this, so Jesper made sure to send it his way straight away, before he forgot about it.

“He was rather full of himself, wasn’t he?” Jesper asked, reaching for the bag of croissants to present it to Wylan so that he could take one out of it. “I didn’t know how you like your coffee, so it’s just black.”

“A bit of milk, no sugar.”

“Just like me,” Jesper said with a smile, hiding it a little behind the cup that he led to his lips.

Wylan took one of the croissants, before he put Comet down, who immediately protested with a meow that made Jesper chuckle. Once he’d broken off a little piece of the croissant, he put it in Comet’s bowl so that he could eat it. That made Jesper’s smile widen even more. He knew that cats weren’t supposed to eat something like that, but Comet seemed happy and healthy, so that was what counted for him.

Together, they enjoyed their coffee and the croissants, and Wylan thanked him again for all this. It seemed to be the right start to the day, and Jesper felt better knowing that Wylan was feeling good. And he even found out that Wylan remembered what he’d said and done last night. Not that he would talk about it again right now, but he hadn’t forgotten about it either.

“Do you want to hit the ice or rather do that tomorrow?”

“Maybe some light training? No speed races or anything, but at least something. Otherwise I won’t get on the ice at all, and Inej will ask questions.”

That  sounded like he didn’t want to tell her about how much he’d drunk last night, which was more than fine with Jesper. After all, it wasn’t like Wylan went out and got drunk every other night.

Twenty minutes later, Jesper stopped his car in front of the ice-rink. They still had some time left until the team would arrive for a little on ice training before the game tonight, so Jesper would already be there for that, just not dressed in his usual attire, since neither of them was getting changed this time. He wouldn’t be playing anyway, because he didn’t have the go just yet so that would be alright.

Just like the times before, Wylan put on some music, but rather quietly this time. Whether it was because he couldn’t bear it to be so loud or because of some other reason, Jesper didn’t know, but he didn’t ask either. They went back to working on Jesper’s balance for a bit, not talking all that much, but Jesper couldn’t stop thinking about last night. Not with the things Wylan had revealed to him. And then there was his curiosity about the scars he’d seen earlier, but he wouldn’t ask about them now. Still, he could ask him something else.

“Why did you tell me you didn’t remember what happened at the Gala?” Jesper was still holding Wylan’s hand as they were slowing down and skating towards the bench. Once the question was out, though, Wylan pulled his hand from Jesper’s and held onto the boards instead.

“I didn’t want to think about it,” Wylan said, but Jesper felt like there was more to it. And to be honest, it kind of stung that he worded it like that.

“So it was that bad, huh? Sure didn’t seem like it.” He knew that his bruised ego was talking, but he meant it. Why else would Wylan not want to think about that moment? Jesper had certainly thought about it plenty. He’d thought about it when he’d seen Wylan, but he’d also thought about it when he’d been alone and could let his imagination run free.

“That’s not…” Wylan shook his head and stepped off the ice to reach for his bag and get the water bottle out.

“What?” Jesper asked, following him so he didn’t risk slipping on the ice, because his focus was completely on Wylan. “That’s not what , Wylan? You ran away, you pretended you didn’t remember anything, and now you’re telling me that you didn’t want to think about it? That’s a really fucking nice thing to hear.”

“I didn’t mean it like that!” Wylan got defensive, and it showed in the way he straightened again, but he was still a little smaller than Jesper and had to look up at him. At least he wasn’t avoiding eye contact right now.

“How did you mean it then?” Jesper challenged him, closed the distance between them so that they were almost chest to chest. “Because from where I’m standing, you made the first move, and you seemed to enjoy all of it and then this? I can live with you leaving me standing there without an explanation. Then I hear that you’re asking about my well-being after I ended up in the hospital, and when I finally see you again, you pretend that you don’t remember.” Jesper counted every point on his fingers, still looking at Wylan. This was ridiculous in a way, but on the other hand, he needed to get this off his chest, needed to know what all this had been about. “If you changed your mind at the Gala, that’s perfectly fine, and I’d always understand, but there was not a single word from you.”

“You didn’t call!” Wylan spoke up, his fingers tightening around the boards, while his other hand rose up to brush through his hair. A gesture Jesper had often watched, and that always managed to distract him, because it drew his attention to Wylan’s hair, and made the wish grow bigger to run his own hands through it. Wylan had done that with him in the elevator, had gripped Jesper’s hair, and it had driven him mad with need.

“What are you talking about?” How had he been supposed to call Wylan? They’d talked for the first time that night, they had only exchanged numbers when they’d been told that they should train together. Sure, Jesper could have reached out through Instagram, but Wylan made it sound like he’d already had his phone number.

“You didn’t call. I gave you my number, but never heard from you. So forgive me, for not wanting to think about that night.” There was a fire in Wylan’s eyes that Jesper had seen before, but only on the ice. It did something to him, he couldn’t deny that.

“I didn’t have your number, what are you talking about?”

“I wrote it down and put it in your pocket!”

“You…” Jesper needed a moment to process this, retracing his steps, but he couldn’t remember finding anything with Wylan’s number on it. “You were pissed at me because I didn’t call, when I didn’t even find your number. Are you serious?”

“I… better leave, this isn’t going anywhere.” Wylan shook his head, but he didn’t move away. Instead, his eyes landed on Jesper’s lips, which was even more confusing.

“This is ridiculous. You can’t keep running from me.”

“Oh I can.” Sometimes at least, though right now, he’d have to change into his normal shoes, or he wouldn’t get that far. Or put some covers over his blades.

“But do you really want that?” He’d run away before, and Jesper wouldn’t put it past him to do that again. Right now, though, the air was heavy between them and so charged, that this could go in all kinds of directions, but with the way Wylan was looking at his lips, leaning towards him, Jesper knew where he wanted this to go, and it had nothing to do with seeing Wylan walk away. Quite the contrary.

When their eyes met again, Jesper felt something inside of him shift. He was still a little pissed off, but that was pushed aside the moment their lips met. He had no idea who initiated the kiss, but it didn’t matter. Not when Wylan’s lips felt so soft beneath his own, and he could feel Wylan’s palms against his chest, almost burning right through his hoodie, spreading heat through the rest of his body.

Jesper wrapped his left arm around Wylan’s middle to pull him against his chest and hold him tight. Maybe, there was an underlying fear that Wylan would run again and leave him standing here, but he mostly did it, because he wanted and needed Wylan this close. His right hand stroked up along Wylan’s arm, grabbing onto his shoulder for a moment, but then he let go again, because he could finally, finally bury his fingers in his hair. It was even softer than he’d thought, and he couldn’t resist grabbing it slightly. Not to hurt Wylan, but to tilt his head back a little, and the sound that came out of his mouth made him tighten his arm around him for a moment. Jesper licked into his mouth, got a proper taste of him, and this time, there wasn’t a trace of alcohol, which made it all the more alluring.

Wylan’s hands started moving over his chest, to his sides, slipping beneath his hoodie. Rationally, he knew that this wasn’t the right time or the right place, but he needed this. He needed Wylan’s touch, wanted so much more, and he was overjoyed that this was finally happening again. Jesper hadn’t been able to stop thinking about that moment in the elevator, but this right now was overwhelming as well.

Jesper pulled back a little, dragging his teeth over Wylan’s bottom lip, before he lowered his head again to kiss along his jaw. He had one goal in mind, because he wanted to see, hear, and feel if Wylan would react the same way he’d done the last time, and when he kissed that spot right below his ear, he got exactly that. Wylan sank more against him, the moan that fell from his lips was music to Jesper’s ears, and he wanted to get so much more out of him. More of those wonderful sounds and reactions. That was one reason why he opened his lips over that spot and started sucking on his skin. The other reason had more to do with a sudden possessiveness that found its way to the surface and made him want to put a mark on him. It was stupid in a way, because he had no idea what this between them could even turn out to be, how Wylan thought and felt about this. Still… there was one word in his head right now: Mine .

“Jesper,” Wylan said a little breathlessly, his nails digging slightly into Jesper’s skin at his back.

“Want me to stop?” Jesper murmured against Wylan’s skin, not wanting to pull back further until he told him to do so. His lips ghosted along Wylan’s neck, his tongue flicking against the delicate skin.

“No… Don’t stop.”

Wylan’s voice was low, and Jesper could feel the vibrations against his lips, while Wylan’s fingers moved slowly up his back, pushing his hoodie up in the process. Jesper would have loved to get rid of that thing, and rid Wylan of some clothes as well, but not here, not now. What he did do, though, was push his hand beneath Wylan’s shirt, wanting to feel some skin as well. The small gasp he tore from Wylan’s lips like that made him smile. His hands were a little cold due to where they were, and he could feel goosebumps break out over Wylan’s back, but his hand quickly warmed up. He loosened his grip on Wylan’s hair, cradling the back of his head in his hand, while he kissed further down along his throat until he reached his collarbone.

When they heard other people’s voices, they had to break apart. Jesper didn’t let go of Wylan immediately, because he needed a moment to process this, realise that he was really hearing them. The Ketterdam Crows. Apparently, they had both lost track of time completely - and who could blame them - because they both knew that they had training as well. Training that Jesper wanted to attend after being on the ice with Wylan. They were coming down the tunnel now, but still far away so that they weren’t seeing them when Jesper stole another kiss from Wylan’s lips, before reluctantly letting go of him. His kiss swollen lips were so inviting, and Jesper would have loved nothing more than to connect their lips again and keep going, but that wasn’t the best idea. What he was capable of doing, though, was raising his hand to make Wylan’s hair look a bit less dishevelled. The mark right beneath Wylan’s ear could be rather telling, but the players would probably not pay that any attention.

Both of them smoothed down their shirts. While Jesper couldn’t get the grin off his face, Wylan looked a little nervous. It made Jesper reach out and squeeze his hand.

“Are you alright?” Jesper asked, rubbing his thumb over the back of Wylan’s hand, who licked his lips, clearly searching for the right words.

“Yes and no,” he managed to say, squeezing Jesper’s hand back before letting go of it. “I think I should go.” Wylan cast a glance towards the tunnel where some of the players were filing onto the ice already, but then he looked back up at Jesper. “And no, this isn’t me running away this time.” Wylan couldn’t stop himself from smiling, and neither could Jesper.

“I’m glad to hear that.” It meant that something had changed. Either way, they were supposed to work together at least until they talked to their coaches, so the situation was different to three months ago. But it wasn’t just that, because Jesper really liked Wylan, enjoyed the time they spent together. On a professional level, they were helping each other as well, though that had moved a little into the background for him. For once, he wasn’t only focused on the game.

“Jesper!” Tolya called out to him, grinning as he waved  his hockey stick.

“I’ll be with you in a minute,” Jesper called back, but then turned to look at Wylan again. “I’ll text you when I’m home, alright?”

“Sounds good.” Wylan nodded. Jesper had a feeling that there was something more that Wylan wanted to say, but he sat down on the bench to swap his skates for his shoes.

“Oh, I forgot, that we came here with my car. Do you need a lift home? I’m sure it won’t be a problem if I take you home and then come back.”

“There’s no need for that, but I appreciate the offer. I’ll walk or take the bus. Get some fresh air.”

“Are you sure?” It wasn’t exactly a short walk, and Jesper had to admit that he worried a little bit.

“Yes. After last night, I think a little walk will be good. Besides, I haven’t been jogging today, and I don’t think I’ll do that today, so I’ll take the walk as my exercise today.” Wylan chuckled, making Jesper’s smile widen a little more.

Once Wylan had left, Jesper stepped on the ice to get to the rest of his team and his coach. Kaz looked him up and down, but didn’t say anything at first.

“Taking your extra training seriously?” he asked once he’d sent the others to warm up a little on the ice, his eyes now on Jesper.

“Yep. Even with a little hangover, Wylan came today. I’ll have you know that we’ve worked quite a bit on my balance.” He wasn’t sure whether Kaz was insinuating anything here, but he didn’t want to find out. Better keep it on the topic of skating for now.

“So, you realise it was a good idea to put you two together?”

Jesper felt his heart jump in his throat. He wasn’t just talking about the skating, was he? Jesper couldn’t be sure, and he tried to stay calm about this.

“Yes, we both realise that. But we’re still at the beginning I guess.”

“At least you’ll be able to show what you’ve learned in two days.” Kaz kept his eyes on the other players, specifically on their goalie when the others started. It took Jesper a moment to realise just what Kaz had said.

“Wait, are you serious? I’ll be playing?” Jesper had been to his check ups the day before, but he hadn’t heard back from anyone. Seems like they talked to Kaz, and he was giving him the good news now.

“Yes, the doc gave you the go, so you’ll be playing.”

“Yes!” Oh, this was great news, and he couldn’t wait to tell Wylan.

“But only if you get changed now to join the training.”

“Of course, coach.” Jesper was grinning from one ear to the other when he quickly moved down the ice to change into his gear, so he could join his team. One more game without him, but then he’d be able to play again.

After training, Jesper sent Wylan a message to tell him that he was allowed to play again, just not tonight. He’d be at the game, though and join the owner of the team in the sky box. He’d even invited Wylan earlier to join him, but he really wasn’t feeling up to spending time among a lot of people, not after last night, which was understandable, and Jesper had kind of expected that as well, yet he’d still wanted to extend the invitation.

In the end, he wouldn’t have had a lot of time for Wylan anyway. Once at the arena, he talked to a couple of people, and was even approached by some journalists. Kaz had warned him that this would happen, but it was okay. He was a natural with the journalists, and hence always a favourite. There were some questions about his injuries and his comeback, and Jes was overjoyed to announce that he’d be back in the Crows jersey in two days. His team had done rather well even without him, but he couldn’t wait to be on the ice with them again and do his part as well.

Even in the sky box and during the game, he was approached by members of the staff, by the owner, and whoever else was there. It was usually reserved for former players, friends and family, and occasionally, Jan van Eck was to be found here as well. Luckily, he wasn’t showing his face tonight, so Jesper was safe.

When he got home, Jesper collapsed on the sofa and stretched out his limbs. He used his feet to get his shoes off and just let them drop to the floor. He hadn’t had time to check his phone again until now. When he saw Wylan’s name - and the picture of him with Comet that he’d attached to his contact information - he couldn’t suppress a smile even if he wanted to.

That’s wonderful news Jesper!

He’d thought the same, but he had to admit to himself that he was a little nervous. Most of the time, he was able to overplay these things, to make people believe that he was cool, calm and collected, but some people were able to see right through this layer of confidence. Some people broke down these walls around him, and Wylan kind of did that without even realising it.

You’ll be at the game, right?

Asking Wylan this made him feel vulnerable, but he had to know. He could have been flirty about this, could have made a joke, but he didn’t. Maybe, because he was too tired, or maybe because it would mean so much to him.

If you want me there, I’ll be there.

Jesper may have squealed, though he’d never admit that out loud.

I really do. I’m kind of nervous to go on the ice again to be honest, and I think having you there will be good.

It was too honest, wasn’t it? Jesper feared that it was, especially because they hadn’t talked about what this between them was, what they wanted. But did they really need to know that? Right now? His thoughts were interrupted when Wylan texted back, making Jesper’s heart kick against his chest.

I understand you. I really do. I was so scared to do my first routine after my injury, but it worked out, didn’t it? Besides, you have your whole team supporting you and a lot of other people. And you’re playing at home, so the fans will do their part as well. And then you have me.

That last bit really got him and reminded him of what he’d thought earlier, that want and need to put a mark on Wylan, the possessiveness showing that way, though he had no right to call him his. Still, it had been there, and Wylan’s words played right into that as well.

You really know how to lift my spirits! It’s late, so you should get some sleep. I definitely need it now. Good night Wy xx

With a groan, Jesper got up from the sofa and stretched, before he moved to the kitchen to grab a bottle of water. He got ready for bed, all the while wearing a smile on his lips. Wylan’s message was the last thing he read before he fell into bed.

KUWESPER:

I genuinely believe that Kuwesper may be one of my favorite ships ever, and the way I can genuinely feel that it could happen in canon as well! Now, lemme give some quick explanation as to why:

Kuwesper, aka Kuwei x Wylan x Jesper, would be a polyamorous ship where all three involved would be dating each other. I believe that Kuwei would naturally be drawn to Wylan as he was with Jesper, especially after Wylan’s face was changed back to normal once more. I mean— here’s another scientist who is able to throw the same energy he is received back, also having gone through abuse of some kind with a father somehow related, and being the son of somebody very highly known and further being sough after due to this.

I know that relating does not equal attraction, but it can spark an understanding between the two of them which would cause them to be able to have further conversations and bonding moments. The moment they’d cross that first hurdle of realizing just how much they can relate to one another, it would be cascade of just being nerdy together, taking time to listen to one another, nights they’d spend together in a lab or even just outside somewhere— pretending that together they are just normal boys without a fathers’ fame and reputation to have been given to their shoulders. They’d start noticing the little details about each other… How much it felt like an autumn night beside a campfire when they are together.

Then of course, we already know the Wylan x Jesper bit of all of this. But what about Kuwei x Jesper? I mean, people must wonder why Kuwei decided to crush on Jesper of all people? (Although I do hc that Kuwei had been drawing Wylan before his face was changed and does so in Ravka still…)

After Kuwei was trapped and imprisoned for so long, where he was tortured and put under extreme pressures, he is obviously going to get attached to the person who shows to be the complete opposite of that. Jesper is shown to be the kind of guy who doesn’t follow all the rules, who is able to walk as if there’s no weights to carry at all, slinging his guns around with a smile. Kuwei could feel himself be free around Jesper, to be drawn to his whole vibe and become drunk off of it. Meanwhile Jesper seems to already like the science-y type, so he would look at Kuwei’s notebook of inventions and formulas and get all interested in him. I could go on and on about how they’d all fall in love but— I digress.

Together, Kuwesper would fight the expectations given to the three of them, and would learn how to create a world of their own making. Of course with some headcanons such as… Kuwei steals all of their shirts and hoodies… Kuwei and Wylan bicker the most about the silliest of things… etc etc. Kuwesper would make such a cute relationship and honestly the only thing on my mind most days.

Plus— the world needs more poly representation. The only real representation of poly relationships seems to be the classic: “Love triangle” “No Communication” “Just exists for the sexual aspect.” Unhealthy and toxic ways to show relationships like these. In fact, the way society (even LGBTQ+ community!) treats poly relationships is completely different than how any other relationship is treated. There’s always that certain look or tone of voice I’m sure every poly person has seen/heard, and always the same phrases that seem innocent on the surface until you put it into the perspective of what that person is actually saying.

The amount of polyphobia there is within the LGBTQ+ community and overall society as a whole is… daunting to say the least. It’s constant assumptions and judging and weird looks. To top it all off: hardly any representation besides the ones that make the poly relationship into the antagonist of the story. I can go into so much detail but I’ll save that for a post more centered around that.

What I’m getting at is that— this is why I hold Kuwesper very high in my heart and why I will always defend this ship. You may be thinking, “But what about the whole point that this was a jealousy thing?” This is where healthy communication comes in so they all get an understanding of each other and feelings. This is where they would talk it out and realize why people did what they did and accept each other. This is where polyamorous people are given healthy communication representation rather than just the basic “nobody talks to anybody unless it’s behind their back” tropes.

Let poly people have Kuwesper!!

 I just finished season 2 of Shadow and Bone. What a wild ride of confusion, rage, and elation, guys.

Here’s my thoughts, but first, some disclaimers. If you haven’t watched the show and read the books, major spoilers follow, so beware. Also, though I had some major problems with this season, I did enjoy it overall, so remember that as you read. And if you absolutely loved this season more than anything, that’s cool too. All opinions are welcome here.

Most of this will be about the Crows because they’re the main reason I watch.

Here’s what I loved:

1. Just like last season, the casting and character work on this show was great. For some reason, I wasn’t immediatly sold on Nikolai’s character, but then I loved him to pieces shortly, which I guess is how it’s supposed to be anyway. Also, Wylan was perfect. Double also, I appreciate that this show continues to make Mal actually likeable, which was not always the case in the books. 

2. The visual effects were really cool. We’ve all seen a lot of different shows where characters have elemental magic, and rarely have I seen it look good in live action. But some of those scenes with the amplified grisha at the end made me think, “This is how a person wielding a whirlpool and/or ice shards might actually look if it could happen in the real world.”

3. The David/Genya dynamic was amazing. They were cute in the books, but I think TV David comes across even better. But it’s been years since I read the Shadow and Bone trilogy, so I could just be misremembering there. (Also, pretty much every romantic dynamic has you invested in this show.)

4. The moment at the end when Kaz and Inej see each other safe for the first time after the big battle, and then Jesper runs over and hugs her, while Kaz just has to look away in disappointement with himself. (Also, the final Kaz/Inej scene was very well done.) I always thought these two were the strongest characters in a group of very strong characters in the Crows books, and the show does their characters a lot of justice, even if I’m often left wanting a little more.

5. The dynamic between the Crows is really starting to get to book level, and I love it. 

Things I didn’t love (these range anywhere along the scale of mild disappointment to pointless rage)

1. The Crows just showing up and destroying the amplified grisha at the end. I mean, other than the grenade they threw, those grisha had plenty of time to counter their attacks. They definitely had time to stop that powder from flying into their faces. They could clearly hear Kaz be like, “Wylan, now!” As much as I love the Crows, that scene was a little ridiculous. The Crows can cause some major destruction in the books, but usually when they do they have some more advanced technology and some shadows on their side at least. 

2. When I realized that the Kaz-Pekka Rollins confrontation was going to happen in episode four of an eight episode season, I just about lost it. In the books, that moment is the culmination of two books worth of character development and plotting. And the fact that Inej was the only Crow who wasn’t there to see it just drove me crazy. That’s such a great moment between them in the books, when Inej finally thinks Kaz has lost himself to his revenge, after two books of telling him he’s not a monster, and then Kaz is just like, “Nah, I was just messing with him.” Like, what a relief that was in the books. (Also, I don’t really like that Pekka Rollins is still out there being his usual self, even though he’s locked up. In the books he’s not dead either, but by the end of the story he’s pretty much been scared witless and driven away. Hopefully he and Kaz don’t meet up again in the show because it wouldn’t feel very meaningful at this point.)

3. The Inej-Mogen conflict. It’s clearly filling in for the Inej-Dunyasha conflict in Crooked Kingdom, but it lacks the dynamic that made it so interesting in the books. Dunyasha as a Lantsov pretender (or not) was awesome. Dunyasha really being almost like a foil for Inej was awesome. It also brought in the interesting concept of Dunyasha being Inej’s “shadow,” or the result of all the sins she’s had to commit to survive. Which also brought up the idea of Kaz and Pekka as shadows of one another, and we got to have that great moment where Inej really forces Kaz to think about what he plans for the future, and how he plans to be different (if really at all) from someone like Pekka Rollins if he comes out on top. Also, one of my favorite passages in Crooked Kingdom is Inej’s “we learn to wring magic from the ordinary” moment, about how maybe Dunyasha is some lost princess, while Inej is just a regular girl who’s been forced to deal with the brutal side of the world, but that Inej will fight to get what she deserves anyway. It’s so powerful, and I don’t really think they could have worked it into a TV show anyway, but it still felt like a loss. (Also, as cool as it was to see Inej wielding a legendary magical sword later in the season, it kind of makes that “wring magic from the ordinary” passage from the book ring a little hollow.)

4. The best Kaz/Inej moment in Crooked Kingdom (in my opinion) was attempted, but they couldn’t do as much with it in the show as they did in the books, simply because they weren’t there yet with the story/characters. I think they really should have put off the Kaz trying to help Inej with her first aid scene for later. It was still effective in the show and I liked what we did get. But there’s so much good dialogue and character work there in the books, other than just the romantic tension, and most of it is so wound up with Crooked Kingdom’s plot that it would be hard to transplant elsewhere, but maybe they’ll try. But this was one of the biggest issues I had with this season overall. They tried to hit on so many of the important story and character beats from Crooked Kingdom, but they could never make them hit quite as hard as they do in the books because of the constraints of time/plot decisions.

5. I was sad that we didn’t get to see Matthias join the Crows yet. 

Things I’m still hoping to see, even though they kind of already adapted Croooked Kingdom:

1. The Jesper-Kaz feud. “Who’s Jordie?” Love it. Also, I’m sure we’ll learn more about Jesper’s background, and I’m looking forward to seeing that play out somehow.

2. Kaz in a murderdous rage over Inej’s safety. I want to see this man throw another man off a light house. Judge me all you want.

The Crows: Their type of makeup

I think Matthias didn't even know there was something like makeup before he met Nina

Fjerda has other priorities than being pretty

I also think Nina gave him the most thorough crash course on makeup possible

I am convinced he was actually really interested and invested in this and tried each and every thing Nina introduced him to

ultimately he settled on eyeshadow

he loves sparkles

Nina gave him for their first Winter fete a huge eyeshadow-palette

(some of the shades she tailored herself)

Matthias' favourite one is a chocolate brown with a light golden shimmer

it reminds him of Nina's eyes

I also think he is a smokey-eye slayer

Nina is the queen of makeup

especially the one you don't see at first

like the natural enhancement of her naturally gorgeous features

but I think her favourite makeup item is lipstick and lipgloss

like this girl has the prettiest lips ever

and she always always always matches her lipstick to her outfit

I think the first time she did a black lip look Matthias nearly fell off his chair

her favourite lip color is a glowy green which she had Wylan enhance with some science to make it glow in the dark

Wylan isn't a fan of makeup on a day-to-day basis

simply because he can't be bothered with it

what I do think he does however is take care of his eyebrows

like I'm convinced this boy has some weird obsession with making his eyebrows look flawless

and they are

he plucks them regularly

and paints them slightly darker than they naturally are

I also think at some point he tried to use symmetry to draw over them

but he realised it didn't suit him that much

for some reason it took Jesper whole two years of dating to realise Wylan did his eyebrows

('I'm sorry, what?! Since when do you do that? I thought you were naturally perfect! How could you deceive me like that, marching!?')

Jesper absolutely slays eyeliner

she used the brightest shades. to enhance her features so she would be visible form the hight

but after the menagerie where she was forced to wear makeup to attract clients makeup just lost it's charm for her

it feels like a mask for her

as if it's trapping her again in the menagerie

or like a lie

Somehow you have managed to catch the eyes of the crows, the ones everyone knew about. Your poor little thing.

It’s going to be chaos from the time kaz learns about you, to the time you’re with them.

Lets say you are a new gunslinger, a talented one at that but you weren’t sent out much. You stayed back to make sure everything was okay, the plan and what ever you’re boss wanted.

Now the first time kaz lays his eyes on you was something he had never felt before, not really. He couldn’t take his eyes away from you for some reason, even when you and your friends were pointing guns at him.

Man made a mental note to look more into you after he got out alive. His team came to give him some back up, after a few deaths your group ran.

But you couldn’t run far enough to escape his mind.

Inej was the next be taken over. She was sent to watch over you and find out anything she could.

And when she first saw you, really took a close look at you she wanted to find out every single detail about you.

She would follow you around the market. How you seemed to be happier there then at your job. She loves your smile. Even sometimes when you were sent out on missions she followed to make sure you were okay.

Lets just say when the two of them start to obsess over you, the others follow.

Even if you are the most talented gunslinger, the biggest man, or strongest. They wouldn’t see you as that. You were weak and fragile and needed protection.

Their protection.

Soon they all talk about you. Or go out to see your face, in secret.

It started to freak you out that random things started to appear on your desk.

It started with Nina sending you sweets from the bakery. She caught you in there one day and knew the ones you liked. Nina had to get them everytime, some for you and her. If you liked them then she would too, makes her feel closer to you.

Then it was whatever you looked at in the market. Silk, clothes, jewelry or anything you liked. Even the ones you didn’t tell anyone about, something only you should know.

I see the team getting into fights and messing with your gang to see you. It was just to cute to see you point a weapon at them. But their little baby wouldn’t dream of hurting the once’s that love him the most. But you’ll see that soon.

Jesper fangirls each time he sees you with a gun. It’s just a sign you’re supposed to be his. He watches you practice all the time. 

That’s when the gifts started to get more freakishly pacific. 

He knows guns. So he knows what your weaknesses and strengths are, like what way you hold your guns. What length you like, he notices everything. So we sends you stuff with notes on them. “This should feel more your style, less weight.” Or anything like that.

Oh, the things that would happen if they hear you were hurt during a mission.

Who ever even touched a hair on your head in a bad way would die, but actually hurt your pretty skin? That’s it for them.

They torture who ever hurt you, saying things like no one should hurt what’s theirs, or that you were to perfect.

I’m taking days of torture, mostly kaz takes it but the others will give a punch or to. And, matthias will help kaz at times.

You started to notice that everyone that gave you trouble ended up dead less then a week. 

Wylan can’t get enough of you, yes he’s more of the “Heart eyes” yandere. He is your number one fan. He admires you so much and he can’t get enough. He blushes each time he sees you, rambles on about you all the time. 

Has poisoned someone before and will do it again. Anything for his love.

Mattias sees you like someone to keep safe. He wants to take you in his arms and never left you go. Him and Nina always fantasize what it will be like when you can finally cuddle with them.

Maybe he can teach you some fighting techniques, or read to you. He’s more of a motherly, but don’t mess with him though. He will rip a man apart with his bare hands for you.

Months of stalking, watching, wanting and waiting they finally kidnapped you. And they couldn’t be happy to be your new home.

They locked you in a bedroom that is filled with things you like, but nothing sharp or anything that you could hurt yourself with. Sometimes if you tried to run out the door they would tie you up.

At first you refused to eat, nina and wylan would beg you sweetly to eat. “I got your favorite.” She would lift it up to your lips. “Come on, it would make me very happy.” But you didn’t care if he was happy or not. They had kidnapped you and now treated you like a pet in a cage.

After a few days of you not eating kaz was getting more impatient, so he took higher measures. “Eat, now or you wouldn’t get another chance.” Being stubborn you didn’t listen to him.

The others were mad at him at doing that to you. He couldn’t stare you! But he had a plan, if he didn’t offer you food for a few days you would cave.

And you did cave.

“See that wasn’t so hard.” Kaz watched you eat the whole thing.

They all take turns who would stay with you at times.

It was hard to accept that you were trapped with them. They were always so clingy to you and wouldn’t let you have freedom.

Lets say after some faking and time they let you leave the room, but only a few times. Like Kaz’s room, being covered and taken to the town for being good.

Of course they were affectionate, even kaz in his own way.

Cheek kisses where their favorite way at first because you blushed and pulled away from them. “They’re too embarrassed.” They would say and not see you didn’t actually want it.

Kaz was carful with his touches, but sometimes he would pet your head or touch hands, only sometimes. But with time he’d warm up.

You were smothered by their love and it drove you crazy. Until your brain blocked off what they had done, and you feel in love them.

But that was easy because you’d never leave them. Never.

Couldn’t even if you tried.

Everything I liked about Shadow and Bone season 2 (warning: much comments about the crows + fangirling about the cast):

SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2!!!

- first off all the new characters are amazing, I'm in love with Nikolai, still not over how perfect Jack is as Wylan, and Tolya and Tamar were so god damn cool I can't

- also everyone looked so good

- loved the whole part where they were in Bhez Ju (and the story about Sankta Neyar)

- Freddy Carter I bow down to you that performance was amazing, seriously I couldn't picture a better kaz

- also Daisy was so good too, like I was crying everytime she was on screen

- and basically everyone else, I'm so amazed by this whole cast, they really all brought these characters to life

- while wesper pining is like one of my favourite things in the books, i still really enjoyed what they did in the show

- just Wylan looking at Jesper like he is the only person that matters

- Jesper's reaction to Wylan playing piano had me smiling like an idiot

- AND THE KISS i gasped so loud... i was giggling and kicking my feet in the air and had to replay the scene

- also kanej was everything this season, we got so many scenes from the books and more (really glad they didn't kiss, though... netflix really had me worried at some points that it would happen)

- Nina Zenik was amazing the whole time, just her comments and looks whenever Kaz was being an idiot

- the difference between Nina telling everyone Matthias is the love of her life and him being in hellgate, having the worst time of his life, because he hates her but also really doesn't

- "And how will you have me?", that whole scene had me holding my breath....

So every change in the crows and ketterdam story makes me scratch my teeth. I hate it cause like we all know six of crows has one of the best writing ever

Kinda hate that they are all um speaking English? Like sure they have languages, but just speak English. And I get why. But also, like takes away a lot of the world building. Nina is a language prodigy and I want it to be known <3

The ravkans can only speak ravkan pretty much. Jesper can speak Zemeni and Kerch. And yeah, it’s sad. I miss languages
