Queer Animes That I Recommend pt. 1
(Shows that are actually consider queer anime or just have that type of vibe)
Revolutionary Girl Utena
Tumblr media
(PS please, please read a content warnings list before watching this show. I didn't and was disturbed and unprepared. I almost threw up.) Yeah but I totally recommend. It's also like really really deep and stuff. Filled with symbolism and metaphors. So if you like that along with queer themes then this is your show.
Monthly Girls Nozaki-Kun
Tumblr media
This show is so funny and I love it so much. We got very bisexual energy from everyone, a gender-nonconforming character, and ace coded character(s).
Stars Align
Tumblr media
(Also read a content warning for this one too) But I need I'll to wake up and recognize how amazing this show is. I will never forgive its cancelation. We have a nonbinary character which is amazing and we have a trans man which is awesome. (all canon) I also ship the two main characters personally.
Sasaki and Miyano
Tumblr media
This was the wholesome BL anime the world needed. Because wow I love it so much. I really don't have too much more to say.
Bloom Into You
Tumblr media
Another wholesome anime but this one is a GL. And one of the first explicitly queer anime I watched. And It also explores being on the asexual spectrum in two characters which makes me happy. (you might want to read a content warning for this one it has themes of death)
Buddy Daddies
Tumblr media
I don't care. I don't care. If you just see Kazuki and Rei as just platonic life partners I don't. That's not my personal headcanon. You can see them however you please but this is my post. Anyway, I just really ship these two and they give queer. All the time every day. Also, this show is so sad sometimes so you might cry. (looking at you episode 10)
I have more but I'll just make another post.

7, 12, and 14 for the quesitons !! :D
Answered out of order, because I have a lot more to ramble about number 7 than the other two 😅
12. Best insult you've ever heard?
So, the best insult I've ever heard is also the silliest insult I've ever heard (number 13), and was more of an anon hate? It's the only one I ever received and I wish I didn't delete it like I did because it was so specific it was funny. I love it and I'm so sad I don't have proof of it's existence.
I won't include it, because 1) I don't remember it verbatim, and 2) it was pretty vulgar. BUT it included a cactus and some not so fun places to put it
I also don't know what prompted the ask. It is the only anon hate I've ever received, and I found it so funny I couldn't even take it seriously
14. Silliest thing you've ever done?
These are multiple instances, but I just.... accidentally scare everyone in my house constantly 😅
Once, I opened the door to leave my sibling's room after a shower (the bathroom accessed from their room was the only one to have a working shower at the time) and apparently sib was about to open the door as well. I opened it first and they got so startled they fell to the floor
I'm so quiet in the mornings it's become a running joke with my grandma, the only other person often up that early, that I'm checking to make sure her heart is still working because she doesn't usually notice me
Can't remember instances of scaring my grandpa, but I know it's happened at least once
7. What are some (movies/shows/books/video games/songs/other media) you'd recommend and why?
THAT is a good question! I'm gonna do a lil bit of all of them :D Placed under the cut because it got long 😅
Movies: How to Train Your Dragon 1 & 2, Nimona, Train to Busan
The first two How to Train Your Dragon films are beautifully animated, the music is stunning- John Powell did an outstanding job, and I think everyone should get to hear the music. The story itself, especially in the first movie, is amazing. And as someone who struggles to find media without romance taking over the plot, these two do well at implementing a romance that's more in the background. It feels natural, rather than forced in just to give the main character a love interest (which it technically does, but again, it's more background to other relationships).
Nimona is another beautifully animated film. I think I watched this movie just for the art style originally, and the fluidity of Nimona's transformations is so incredibly smooth it feels believable. The themes of feeling othered, especially for minorities, are obvious but the movie does great at showing how bigotry is created from ignorance and historic oppression. I liked the emphasis on Nimona and Ballister's relationship instead of just Bal and Ambrosious (see previously mentioned romance in media issue I have). I also loved how it had a legend and showed how the legend began, I don't think I've quite seen before. It really inspired me in my own works in that regard.
Train to Busan is probably the most emotionally driven zombie film I've ever seen. The actors are all fantastic, and are so good that the only time I didn't cry watching the film was because I was watching my grandma's reaction to see if she was crying. The extras they got to play the zombies are also amazing, and it's a little unnerving how they move with the contortionists and the editing style. It's really not as gory as other zombie media, and it's paced fantastically. I always ran into the problem of not being able to like zombie media before because it just started out so boring, but didn't have the issue with this.
Shows: Glow Up, Avatar: the Last Airbender, Race to the Edge, Nanatsu no Taizai/The Seven Deadly Sins, Buddy Daddies
I'm pretty sure Glow Up is a reality TV show, however, I thoroughly enjoy it because of the creative focus and the focus on makeup in general, as that's something I never use. There's not any unnecessary drama, all the MUAs are really supportive of each other (on the show at least, idk about irl) and it's really opened my eyes up to techniques I wouldn't have even thought about in that industry. Also, while this happens more in later seasons (3-5 I think?), every time an MUA is shown for the first time in an episode, there's a little info pop up with their name and pronouns! So that's fun. I love putting on this show for background noise.
Avatar: the Last Airbender feels like an obvious recommendation. The animation is really nice, the plot intriguing, and the worldbuilding is just phenomenal. I love all the different animal ideas spread throughout the world, it really makes me want to implement something similar into my own works. The writers handled each character's arc wonderfully, and while there were romantic relationships sprouting between characters, it wasn't a focus and can easily be overlooked if it's not your cup of tea.
Race to the Edge I'd only recommend if you've at least seen the first How to Train Your Dragon movie, as it takes place between the first and second movies. I love all the dragon designs shown throughout the series, and it really focuses on the characters and building them up, more than they're able to do throughout the movies alone. The series also builds the relationships between the characters, including but not limited to: the friendships between the main cast (Hiccup, Astrid, Snotlout, Fishlegs, Tuffnut, and Ruffnut), the friendships each have with their dragon, familial relationships (Hiccup & Stoic, and Snotlout & his dad), romantic relationships (Hiccup & Astrid), and the relationships between Hiccup and his enemies. I think it's a great show to watch if you like the How to Train Your Dragon franchise.
Nanatsu no Taizai/The Seven Deadly Sins I'm pretty sure is a Shonen anime. I really love the animation of the first 3 seasons, and the story is very compelling. One of the rare instances of romance being a plot point that doesn't make me feel uncomfortable as being like, a focus. As with a lot of anime from this genre, there is fanservice but imo it's easy enough to overlook. The fight scenes are so fun, and I've gotten really interested in the worldbuilding. The music is also just so wonderful. I could listen to any of it at any time of the day and feel instantly better.
Buddy Daddies is a fun exploration of two contrasting worlds colliding. The action is fun and so so exciting to watch, there's just something about watching two people be competent in committing a murder followed by squabbling about their kid. A lot of people compare it to SpyxFamily, but beyond the "assassins raising a child together" trope they are quite different imo. For one, the portrayal of the child. Miri acts her age, and it's entertaining to watch as Rei and Kazuki attempt to raise her after having no experience with kids of any kind combined with both of their less-than-stellar childhoods. I know some people were disappointed that in the end Rei and Kazuki didn't get together, but I love the fact that this shows a family that breaks the stereotypical family shown in media. It's just two friends raising their kid.
Books: When Your Number Is Called, One for Sorrow, All the Light We Cannot See
When Your Number Is Called by Courtney Praski is a short story set in a world where people are born with a number on their wrist that says when they die. It's been a while since I read it, but I picked this book out on a whim one day and fell in love with it. It's an intriguing short read that I'd recommend to anyone who likes something kinda bittersweet, I'd seriously give it a read.
One for Sorrow by Mary Downing Hahn is a paranormal story set during the Spanish influenza. I hadn't delved too deeply into paranormal stories before this one, but after reading this book I wanted to read more from the genre. Especially more of Hahn's books. I enjoyed the characters' personalities because they felt authentic to that age, and paranormal aspects aside, I enjoyed the fact that there was a focus on bullying which drove the story forward.
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr is a fantastic story that focuses on two sides of World War Two. I really loved the short chapters and constant perspective changing, it made the longer book easier to digest and more engaging, because when we switched POVs we'd still be interested in what was going on with the other character and wouldn't find out until we switched again. I really liked the portrayal of Marie-Laure, a young blind girl especially. The character of Werner, a boy thrust into the Nazi military, is also incredibly compelling. They're two great characters to bounce between, and in my opinion, the fact that they interact for only so little time was a very interesting - and I think good - choice. I read this for English class, and it's one of the books I'm happy to have picked up. I've been meaning to read it again, it was so good.
Video Games: Stardew Valley
Yeah this was gonna be the obvious and the shortest one. I really only play Stardew Valley, any other game I might enjoy but I don't play enough to recommend. But Stardew Valley? I have almost 700 hours in the game
It's probably the most relaxing stressful game ever. It's self-paced, there's no penalties for taking ages to do certain tasks. It's a farming sim, but you don't actually have to farm if you don't want. The NPCs are interesting and the marriage candidates have sweet heart events. There's no penalty if you choose to not get married. You can also have a little monster buddy move in.
Just... So much to do and you can do it all at your own pace. There's no real end game, you can achieve perfection (basically finishing the game) and still play. You can set challenges for yourself. You can play around with mods. Just... basically anything!
And it was all created by one person.
Also, the music slaps. If you don't play the game, I'd at least recommend listening to the soundtrack.
Other Media: N/A
Songs: Kingdom Dance, TSADS-FP1, Fall, SHOCK, For the Dancing and the Dreaming, Karma, Dive, Siren's Song
I'm really indecisive so there's just a handful of songs I really enjoy. If you want more of my song recs, browse through this playlist
Kingdom Dance from Tangled is a short instrumental (although I've found extended versions online too) that's really upbeat. It never fails to make me wanna get up and spin around. Constant foot and hand tapping with this one. The rhythm is just really fun. I like finding covers of this if only because I like seeing how other people keep the vibe of the song while putting their own take on it (for example, Scott & Ryceejo's cover).
TSADS-FP1 is part of the Nanatsu no Taizai soundtrack. I don't think it's the best song from the series, and actually I didn't really notice it much upon watching the series. But there's a specific moment in the song with some string instruments that just... It gives me goosebumps, and appears especially during big emotional moments in the anime. I like listening to this when I'm having a rough day, it gets me in the mood to do other things to improve my day.
Fall by Big Time Rush was the first song I listened to after their reunion. It's really upbeat and, like Kingdom Dance, I can't help but tap my feet and hands. It gets stuck in my head incredibly easily and I'm not upset about that.
For the Dancing and the Dreaming is from the second How to Train Your Dragon film. It's a wonderful moment between Hiccup's parents, and I really love how... real it feels? Like it wasn't put in to show off some singer's voice and the movie wasn't a musical. It was like a song from a pub, it was their song, and that's shown in the film. They're not meant to sing it well, they're meant to sing it like they're in love and having fun. .... I also have like, 7 versions of this song on my playlist. Seriously, just listen to some of the covers as well. Many talented people have covered the song and each version is wonderful.
Karma by Grayson DeWolfe has been stuck in my head for weeks now. I love putting this song on loop and just vibing. Despite the fact that I've never been in a relationship, nor have I been cheated on, I always feel vindicated by the song because I do believe in karma, and it's also just satisfying when someone wronged you then is wronged in the same way.
Dive, which I'm pretty sure is from Netflix's A Week Away (I've never watched it lol) is a really fun listen to. Again, I just really like the rhythm. I don't have much to say about this one simply because whenever I listen to it, my brain goes into instant daydream mode.
Finally, Siren's Song by Brave the Sea has an exciting rhythm and quite a compelling story if you listen to the lyrics. It feels a bit like a sea shanty meets metal, but not in the way artists like Jonathan Young have done it. Also, the music video is fun to watch.
I think I've rambled long enough 😅 besides, I covered most of the stuff I would recommend. Besides stuff like YouTubers or artists or something, but I don't really wanna go find those rn (I'll gladly recommend some if asked tho)

Once Again (PT.I) | Iwaizumi Hajime (Haikyu!)
Tumblr media
ONCE AGAIN : PART ONE
Summary:  Iwaizumi’s broken marriage results in his five-year-old son trying to match him up with his primary school teacher, whom he thinks will make a wonderful replacement for a mother.
Genre: fluff, slight angst, f!reader x dad! Iwaizumi
A/N: There will be 2 or 3 parts of this oneshot! Depending on how long I feel like writing. Thanks for checking it out and stopping by! Let’s dive into some Iwa moments :,)
NEXT PART -->
---
“What’s your return policy on rings?”
The saleswoman smiles sympathetically behind the counter. That stupid sympathetic smile he’s been getting for weeks on end now. And it never stops; with his co-workers, with his family, his friends...
Iwaizumi’s sick of it. He’s sick of having to prove that he’s doing just fine, thank you very much. When in truth, his heart is constantly being torn apart and stomped upon as is people have nothing better to do than torture him in their free time.
“I’m sorry, but these rings have been brought more than three years ago, and our warrant only lasts for three years,” the saleswoman keeps on talking but it doesn’t matter, for Iwaizumi can already feel the anger slowly creep up through the back of his neck, can already feel the vibrating emotions clogging up his sense of judgement.
His fists clench at his sides upon impulse, the physical pain of his nails driving into his palms enough to remind him to stay cordial. It’s not the woman’s fault, the better part of him chants, it’s not her fault at all.
“Fine,” he manages to grovel out, barely, “thanks anyway.”
He all but storms out of the shop while shoving the rectangular box back in his pant pocket, and though it’s been more than four months since his ugly divorce with the woman he’d hoped to share the rest of his life with, the weight of their promise hangs heavy and hot upon his thigh.
The thing is, Iwaizumi is mad. He is seething. If one were to give him a bat, he’d probably destroy the entire town by himself. Not because she was the one that cheated, not because she was the one going behind his back numerous times a week to seek out her lover when he’d been basically driven mad between Hoisuke’s cries and the stress of call meetings scheduled back to back.
No, he’s angry. Because how the fuck could she do this to Hoisuke? How can she break the child’s heart like that, so ruthlessly, without even thinking twice about the consequences?
Because if there is a victim in all this, then it’s definitely Hoisuke. And not only that, Hoisuke understands that his mother has been acting strange, that she doesn’t return at regular times and that her hugs now smell of cigarette smoke with a bittertaste of alcohol.
Iwaizumi is so caught up in anger that he almost blunders past his battered Hyundai, red and chipping away at the corners. Still, this car holds so many memories, the good and the bad ones.
“Can’t you get a newer car? I thought your company could sponsor you,” the ghost of his wife’s voice echoes through his head, a blatant reminder of all the things she’d found wrong in his life.
“Why?” he’d tilted his head around to fix his gaze on her figure bending over the sink. The TV was playing in the background and he thanked the gods that the morning comics were taking up Hoisuke’s attention, enough to distract him from his parents’ quibbles.
“It’s just--so old and tacky.”
“It still works well, doesn’t it? Why change it now?”
She’d paused, hesitated slightly before blundering on, “It’s embarrassing. My colleagues keep asking if we're poor or something."
"Who cares what your colleagues think?"
Fuck her, Iwaizumi mentally swears as he turns on the ignition. Fuck her and all her needs for a better life. As if the life they had wasn't more than enough. Pulling out into the street to join the incoming traffic, he blinks away the sudden tears accumulating at the corner of his eyes and swears once more, this time aloud, glad that Hoisuke isn't in his presence when he gets in such a foul mood.
Iwaixumi may be angry. He may be filled with pent-up rage from the memory still attached to the day he'd discovered a used condom in their bathroom trash. But that doesn't mean it hurts any less.
That doesn't mean he does not still cry into his pillow over it every night.
----
"Please don't forget to do your homework for tomorrow! We'll correct them before moving on to the next chapter," you call out to your students as excited chatter fills the air. Students rise from their seats, some calling you bye and waving as they all file out of the classroom and you can't help the small smile lingering over your lips even though your feet are killing you.
Outside, parents have already lined up to collect their kids, the chatter and bustle of people ebbing away down the corridor as you let out a soft sigh.
"Miss?"
You jolt, not realizing that one of your students stands by the table wringing his hands, "what's wrong Hoisuke? Dad's not here yet?"
He shakes his head, watery eyes blinking up at you as he raises his thumb to his lips. You stand quickly and motion him to come close until he's within reach before your hand smoothes over the back of his head, "it's okay. He's probably stuck in traffic. I'll wait with you."
It's not surprising that parents get tardy once in a while and you're all too accustomed to those slight change in plans. Thankfully, you manage to distract the young boy with some coloured crayons and a piece of paper while you dial for his father's number.
It keeps ringing. No one picks up.
You try once more, one more time after that. But still, nothing. It shifts to voicemail. You decide it's better than nothing, "hi Iwaizumi-san. This is Y/N, Hoisuke's teacher. I was just wondering what time you would be picking up Hoisuke? Please call me as soon as possible. Thank you."
You end the call only to spot Hoisuke's eyes on you, intent and impatient for you to explain, "it's okay," you tell him with a smile, "he'll be here soon. Don't worry. Do you want to keep colouring some more?"
Hoisuke nods, to which your smile widens. It's those special moments, where your shyest students express themselves, that your chest warms with sympathy and affection. You've been there, you know how it feels like not to be heard, and you appreciate every interaction they offer you.
Being a primary school teacher is tough, especially since it wasn't in your original plans. But the satisfaction of bringing up some of the world's future leaders cancelled out all the late nights correcting tests and scrambled weekends trying to finish off as many worksheets as you possibly could for the coming week. You can’t complain, not when you have a decent salary that keeps bread on the table and a roof over your head.
A tug on your sleeve brings you back to Hoisuke looking up at you, a scribbled drawing of what seems to be of him and his dad. You feel yourself chuckling at how he's drawn both their hair in brown spikes, erratically extravagant and yet so close to reality.
"That's really good, Hoisuke!" You beam down at him, "what do you and your dad do on weekends?"
He shrugs shyly, head averted to the side so that there's no need for eye contact. And in the shyest voice he can muster up, he says:
"Daddy brings me...to see Mama," Hoisuke's words are barely above a mumble, "they live in different houses. They can't live together anymore."
Uneasiness squeeses in your stomach, followed by sympathy for this soft-hearted boy. You had overheard some of your colleagues giggling about Hoisuke's dad being attractive and single -- a combo that teachers adore -- but that doesn't mean that the weight of his words don't lay heavy on your own conscience.
"Do you miss your Mama a lot?" You ask him softly. Unconsciously, your hand finds a way to smooth over his head.
The boy doesn't pull away. Instead, he nods, "sometimes. But it is better this way. Daddy smiles more now. And there's no one to shout and make noise."
"Are you happy, Hoisuke? With your dad?"
He nods and to your amazement grins, "daddy is funny. He tells me not to swear but when he burns the food he always swears. And then he says to shush and tells me to close my ears. He also makes me pancakes every Saturday morning before I go see Mama."
Right on cue, a figure bursts through the open classroom door and both your heads snap to see a drenched, older version of Hoisuke who looks like he just finished running a marathon.
"I'm--" he wheezes, causing you to stand in alarm and concern, "I'm sorry I'm--so late--"
"Daddy, you forgot me again!" Comes Hoisuke's statement as you ask Iwaizumi if he's okay. He shakes off your worry with a flick of his hand and a shake of his head, "I'm fine. Sorry-- there's a nasty rain outside--"
"It's okay," you reassure him as Hoisuke practically barrels into his father and almosy knocks him off his feet.
"Sorry Hoisuke," you watch Iwaizumi's hardened features soften ever so slightly as he ruffles his son's hair. Then, looking back up at you as you bring over Hoisuke's backpack, he says, "thank you. For looking after him."
"It's no problem, honestly. We had fun didn't we?" You grin down at your student and are delighted to find Hoisuke grinning back up at you, albeit shyly, "I put his homework in his diary. He'll need to complete it for tomorrow so that he doesn't fall behind in class."
His father nods, "alright. Thanks."
"Daddy, your hair looks atrocious," Hoisuke says, tugging onto his shirt.
"Atrocious huh?" Iwazumi's eyebrow rise, "someone was listening in their English class today."
"Atrocious means that it looks bad. Daddy, your hair looks bad."
"Thanks buddy, I knew that. Now say bye to Miss Y/N."
"Bye bye, miss Y/N," Hoisuke says, wriggling his short arm through the air as you wave back with a giggle. His father nods at you in silent thanks, makes a move to walk out of the class, only to swivel back to you just as you're collecting your bag.
"Uhm," he clears his throat, causing you to jump slightly, "yes?" You blink back at him and try hard not to stare at the way his white shirt clings to his toned chest, translucent from the rain.
"Do you need a ride?"
-----
You've known Iwaizumi since high school. Having graduated just two years later than he did, his reputation had preceded him throughout the school halls even though you'd never actually had any face to face interaction with the said man. Iwaizumi doesn't know this of course and you are adamant about keeping it a secret. But that plan seems to be unraveling before your very eyes the moment your small talk turns towards your academic history.
"You're from Aoba Johsai?" His surprised glance doesn't escape your notice, especially since that's the most reaction you've gotten out of him.
"Yeah," your eyes stay glued to the row of cars crawling through the motorway, "I remember you went there too, right?"
"How'd you know?"
"You were Aoba's ace volleyball player. Everyone knew who you were."
His silence answers you and for a moment, you fear that you might have offended him. Not that it's something to be offended about.
Before you try to scratch your brain for some kind of response -- any response -- Hoisuke pipes up from the back seat, "Daddy was famous back when he was in high school. He hit the ball like kapow! And jumped so high he can touch the sky."
"Oh? Have you seen him on camera?" You turn slightly, a small smile dangling off your lips at how adorably amazed and excited Hoisuke seems to be.
"Yeah! His spikes are so awesome! It goes pow! And it zooms! Like a cannon ball!"
You burst out laughing, "yes, your father was amazing whenever he was on the court. Every girl in our class had a crush on him."
"What's a crush?"
"Hmm, you know when you really like someone. You like like them, you want to be together with them. Like, girlfriend and boyfriend."
"Oh," Hoisuke draws out, "did you really like daddy too?"
"Yeah I did."
"What?" Iwaizumi almost chokes on his own spit at the same time traffic eases and you're glad for the distraction, for you're certain there's a scattering of colour upon your cheeks.
"Do you really like him now?" Hoisuke persists, undoubtly untouched by the embarrassment taking over his father's features and you swear that more than ever, you want to laugh at how flustered Iwaizumi looks.
You decide to play nice though and instead turn to wink at your student, "that's a secret for me to keep."
You don't have to look twice to know that the man beside you is bursting into hot flames.
-----
"Did you really like Mama before you started living separately?"
Iwaizumi swears that he's never felt so uncomfortable in his life. Not when he's had to state that he was divorced, not when he had to sign divorce papers half drunk off his ass. Not even when he'd raged after his said ex-wife after finding a tie that wasn't his own in his laundry pile.
Now is probably a good definition of what uncomfortable means.
"You're not gonna let me off the hook are you?" He steals a glance at Hoisuke from over his shoulder while stirring the vegetable curry, "yes, I really liked your mother."
"Did she?"
The word 'yes' almost slips past his mouth. Except, he isn't sure whether that's the truth and decides to shoot back with, "have you finished your homework, Hoisuke? You know it's due tomorrow. Miss Y/N said so."
"Do you really like miss Y/N?"
"What?" Iwaizumi frowns, "well--no. Not like that."
"Why?" His son whines, "I really really like Miss Y/N. She's nice to me and she never shouts. And she bakes good cookies!"
"How'd you know that?" Iwaizumi leans over to taste a bit of the sauce. Not bad, he thinks and mentally pats himself on the back. A few weeks ago, he would've probably burnt the entire house down.
"Because she bakes them every month. Every time we finish a test."
"That's nice of her."
"Yes," there's a pause as the man fishes out a bowl in which to serve the curry, "daddy, what do you do when you really like someone? Do you marry them like you and Mama did?"
"Uh--yeah. Sure."
"Then does that mean I need to marry Miss Y/N if I really like her?"
"Yup."
"Daddy!"
Iwaizumi bursts out laughing. Turning off the stovetop and bringing the bowl over to the dining table, he reaches out to ruffle his son's hair with a grin, "you're the one who has a crush on miss Y/N."
"She's too old for me Daddy," grumbles Hoisuke while scooping out two rice bowls as the pair sit down for dinner, "but she'll be good for you."
"Not that simple, buddy," Iwaizumi says as he dumps two spoonfuls of curry into his son's bowl, before doing the same with his own, "there's a difference between like and love."
A frown falls over his son's face, so like his own that Iwaizumi can't help but chuckle, "what is the difference?"
"Well, when you really like someone, you might want to get to know them better. Or play with them andd shit--stuff like that. When you love someone, it's..." he hesitates, "it's different."
"Why?"
There goes that innocent question that punctures his chesy a little too deeply. The brown-haired man steadies his gaze upon the calendar fixed on the wall opposite him as he answers with:
"When you love someone, you want to live with them. You want to start a family with them. Their happiness," his brown orbs switch back to his son's focused attention, "their happiness is all that matters."
Maybe it's the fact that he's not used to speaking so truthfully about such things. Maybe it's just Hoisuke who suddenly realizes the layers hidden beneath his father's poker-faced exterior. But for a moment, neither of them speak, as if bewitched by a silencing spell if broken by the scraping of cutlery against porcelain.
"Did you love mama?"
Hoisuke's voice is small, fragile. So fragile that Iwaizumi pauses just as his spoon reaches his mouth, glancing over at his boy. His beautiful boy.
"Yeah."
Another short pause. "Did she love me?"
"Of course she did," Iwaizumi's face softens. To be honest, Hoisuke hadn't showed any kind of restraint during the entire divorce procedure, had merely accepted things as they had unfolded before his very eyes. But sometimes, Iwaizumi fears his son might be keeping more from him than he lets on.
He ressembles his mother a lot in that sense.
"Then," wet coffee-coloured eyes blink up at him, lips trembling with a hoarse whisper, "why'd she leave?"
Before his father can say anything, the young boy bursts into tears.
Iwaizumi rushes over, clasping Hoisuke in his embrace as the child buries his face into his neck and cries and cries and cries. His little heart beats like wild horses and with every sob echoing through hid body, Iwaizumi feels his own heart break over and over again. One of his hands rub comforting circles of Hoisuke's back, while the other smoothes over the back of his head as he murmurs soft nothings in hopes that it will calm down the young child.
"I want--" Hoisuke's voice is thick with tears, "I want Mama--"
"Shh, hey it's okay," Iwaizumi murmurs out, "s'alright kiddo. I got you."
Hoisuke falls asleep eventually, the soft sniffles dying out into even breaths as he slumps against his father’s shoulder, probably tired out from his earlier emotions. Iwaizumi takes this as his chance to tuck the boy into bed, glad that he’d listened to the small subconscious in his head telling him that Hoisuke would be falling asleep sooner rather than latter.
As he smoothes over his son’s hair, a part of him wonders how much Hoisuke is still silently hurting from his mother’s departure. He can’t imagine it; suddenly changing lives like you’ve merely changed your bed sheets and Iwaizumi had been so caught up in his own heartbreak, in his own bout of silent rage, that he’d forgotten that along the way, Hoisuke was also a victim to their endless fighting, the cold war that had broken his family apart.
He wishes he can take the pain away, ease it somehow. But it’s not that simple. The truth is, no one can actually predict how a heart gets broken, nor when it does. The only evidence are the repurcussions. And it’s only now that Iwaizumi gets to see it truly take its form.
Leaning over to press a soft kiss to Hoisuke’s forehead, Iwaizumi murmurs his silent goodnight before walking out and gently closing the bedroom door behind him.
He leans onto the hard wooden surface and rubs his eyes. It is only upon pulling them away that he takes notice of the family photograph hanging on the opposite wall, frozen smiles wrapped up in lies.
He really needs to take that down.

I am dying to know your thoughts on the S2 finale
I’m dead.  I’m dead I’m freaking dead
Overall absolutely loved it yessssssss, so good!
Mmmmm so much good rampaging and fight choreography yessss.  Personal favorites were Din versus Gideon because the cinematography was so gorgeous, Luke’s entrance because I am a lightsaber-loving girl, and Din versus the Dark Trooper because Din ilu but watching you thrown around like a ragdoll was simply hilarious
Also I don’t think Din getting repeatedly punched in the face was supposed to be funny but I was cackling
Also man, if he hated droids before imagine how he feels now
Also good cinematography:  I loved all the shots of the TIE fighters and the shuttle coming out of the whatever-they-called-it chute, beautifully framed shots.  This whole episode was really gorgeously shot
I am a simple girl.  I see Cara Dune shooting Space Nazis and then beating the living shit out of them, I receive serotonin
I feel similarly about Fennec Shand, she is amazing
Bo-Katan was the only downside to this episode because she’s an annoying bitch but her comeuppance was SO worth it.  HAHAHAHAHAHA NO DARKSABER FOR YOU AND IT’S RUBBED IN YOUR FACE HOW MUCH YOU DON’T DESERVE IT
Especially after talking to Boba like that, HOW DARE YOU SPEAK LIKE THAT TO A REAL MANDALORIAN YOU STUCK-UP COW
Okay I GUESS it made sense to bring her along, Din clearly knew what he was doing using her, but if you’ll allow me to be petty and snotty for a moment, I prefer appearances from REAL Star Wars characters not TCW nonsense
Speaking of which HOLY SHIT LUKE SKYWALKER HOLY SHIT LUUUUUUUUUKE LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKE
In an earlier post I said I didn’t want a Luke cameo I take it back it was beautiful even if the CGI was just a touch off but it didn’t ruin the moment at least for me Like for any other character that entrance would be overlong and overdrawn, but for Luke Fucking Skywalker?  He deserves it and it was amazing.
My sister and I were, once again, literally screaming at the tv.  And then we managed to stop, Artoo came out, and we started again.
(Lol you know Artoo was just sitting there going “There’s ANOTHER one of these green fuckers?!”)
Gideon is such a cool villain.  So crafty and clever and always doing his best to stay one step ahead with excellent monologuing and fighting skills and also he has STYLE.  As my sister put it “He reminds me of Dooku” and “I’m glad Disney has figured out how to do villains again.”  I’m very glad he’s not dead and I hope he comes back and continues to be nefarious.
Villain honorary mention to that asshole pilot (in a Lambda-class shuttle! loved seeing one again!) who decided to talk shit about Alderaan, Cara gets an A++ for shooting him for it (and for clocking Gideon later)
“I yield” I fuckin died
So like.... I’m sure Din would be a great Mand’alor, he’s compassionate and clearly has a knack for bringing people together and deeply cares about Mandalorian ways (with a little adjusting for accepting others’ Mandalorian ways) but.... does he want this?  Because he seems to just want to mind his own business.  Not rule a planet he’s never seen and doesn’t really have any investment in.
Anyway to the Big Moment, I think Grogu going with Luke was overall well-done.  Grogu’s consent is clearly valued by Luke, he’s not baby-snatching him or anything (which is not what the Jedi ever did anyway), and while Luke addresses Grogu directly mostly, he also respects Din’s decision as Grogu’s father.  Luke clearly takes what they both want into consideration.  And of course, Grogu won’t go unless Dad says it’s okay and to me at least (maybe because I watch these halfway into ACCPOV mindset anyway) I felt like Grogu had already come to the decision himself, that he was ready to go train but only if he had Din’s support to do so.  I AM CRY.
God you know Din was dying inside though.  ME TOO, BUDDY
Overall I feel Din starting to remove the helmet has been a little too...easy?  I guess?  I’m not sure exactly what I wanted out of it more but he seemed to turn around too quickly for me given how hardcore Din was about it before.  That aside, Din taking off his helmet to say good-bye to his son was a beautiful heart-wrenching moment and straight-up murdered me with feelz and I loved it.
Lol so was Cara just standing there thinking “You wouldn’t let me remove it for A FATAL HEAD INJURY but now it’s okay????”
It was bittersweet but it definitely didn’t feel like an end to me.  Luke talks about training Grogu; he’s certainly not replacing Din as his father or anything, and like I said seems to treat Din as Grogu’s father.  Din says “we’ll meet again.”  And ofc Baby Yoda and Din are Disney’s big marketing Thing right now.  This isn’t good-bye forever, just good-bye for now.
That said as a teacher I’m picturing Luke setting up Class Dojo and sending Din a link and immediately getting five billion messages a day
Also you know Grogu spends the entire trip to Jedi School telling Luke all about how awesome his daddy is.  At least when he wasn’t trying to steal pieces from Luke’s cockpit with the excuse “Dad lets me do it”
So Din has lost his ship/home, almost everything he owns, gave up his beloved son, has taken off his helmet and even if he decides it doesn’t break his Creed he still probably has to do some serious Processing about it, and has just accidentally become ruler of a planet he’s never seen or even believes is worth going to.  CAN THIS MAN PLEASE HAVE A GODDAMN BREAK
Anyway imo the only big misstep of this episode was we didn’t get Din and Baby’s reunion.  Din fights Gideon and then he’s herding Gideon up into the bridge.  Where’s the emotional reunion between father and son?  Removing the baby handcuffs and making sure his boy is all right?  Baby finally relieved at being saved?  YOU’RE NOT GONNA SHOW US ANY OF THAT?!  (You’ll be seeing it in ACCPOV though, that’s for DAMN sure.)
The after scene was cool, the Boba Fett one is pretty much the only show I’m really interested in and I liked the little teaser.  Especially Fennec freeing the poor slave girl.
Tl;dr Loved it and was just wishing for one more big scene of Dad & Baby reuniting

Buck and Chris were spending the day at the park. Eddie had to work and Carla was on vacation, so Buck stepped in and volunteered to watch his little buddy. It wasn’t a difficult thing to do, the two of them were thick as thieves. Looking at them you’d probably think they were father and son.
Chris had run ahead to play with his friends. Today was a scheduled playdate with a bunch of other kids from Chris’ school. Buck had been been to a few of these before but he didn’t quite recognize any of the other parents today. As he sat their on the bench, he watched Chris play with his friends. The kid was amazing, keeping up with his friends in spite of his crutches.
“Is this seat taken?” A voice broke Buck’s gaze on Christopher. Buck looked up to see a beautiful women standing before him.
“No, go right ahead. I’m Buck.”
“I’m Ana Flores. Nice to meet you Buck. Forgive me but are you the Buck? Christopher talks about you very often?” The women questioned Buck, who at this point was more than perplexed. It seemed she had the upper hand because he didn’t know who she was.
“I guess I am, I didn’t realize that I had a reputation. Not anymore anyway.” Buck stated, referring back to his 1.0 phase.
“Oh yeah, Chris talks about you all the time in class. He’s very fond of you.”
“I’m pretty fond of him to. Are you Ana Flores as in Mrs. Flores? Chris’ teacher, right?” A lightbulb went off above Buck’s head as he realized who he was speaking to.
“I’m sorry, yes. That is me, Mrs. Flores.”
“It’s nice to officially meet you then. So how’s my little man doing in school?” Buck knew about the skateboard incident and he knew Chris was a smart kid. He just wanted to make sure that Chris was doing well in school otherwise.
“Like I told Mr. Diaz, he’s doing very well. Chris is a bright kid and very funny. He is lucky to have two dads that love him so much. I can see how he turned out the way he did.”
“Um, thanks I guess. I’m, I’m not his Dad though. Eddie and I aren’t dating.” Buck was taken a back by her comment. He often felt like Chris’s dad but he knew that he was more like a fun uncle.
“Oh, I’m so sorry. He talks about his Daddy Buck so much that I just assumed. I’m so embarrassed.”
“It’s all good, Eddie is a great guy and I’d be lucky to date him but he’s my best friend. That’s it.” Buck wasn’t sure who he was trying to convince more of that: Himself or Ana.
“At any rate, Chris is one lucky kid to have two people that adore him so much. He really does speak the world of you.”
“I’m the lucky one really.” The two of them sat there quietly for a bit. Buck went back to watching Chris play with his friends. His mind started to wander after a bit. It was nice to hear someone call him Chris’ dad.
“Well, I have to get going Buck, it was nice chatting with you. I have to go get my nephew so we can go to the movies.” Ana pointed to one of the kids playing with Chris. She called out his name and he ran over to her.
“No problem. It was nice meeting you Ana. Have fun at the movies”. Buck waved them goodbye and went back to his observing. The sound of crutches on the pavement woke him from his thoughts.
“Hey Buck, can we go? I’m hungry.” Asked Chris.
“Sure thing Buddy, where do you want to go?”
“Chick Fil A! Can I get a milkshake too?” Chris begged. Buck was quite literally unable to say no.
“Whatever you want superman!” The two of them began their walk back to the car. Buck helped Chris into his seat and they headed to their destination. “ I met your teacher today buddy, Mrs. flores. She said you’re doing great in school. I’m very proud of you Chris. You’re a great kid.”
“Thanks Buck!” Chris smiled that infectious smile and soon Buck caught it too.
“She also said that you call me Daddy Buck. You know I’m not your Dad, right. Not that I wouldn’t want to be but I’m not.” It hurt Buck to say this but he needed to make sure that Chris understood what he was saying.
“I know that Buck. But you and Daddy spend so much time together. Him and Mommy did the same thing so that must mean that you are like her but you’re not a girl. You’re a boy so that makes you my Dad.” Chris informed Buck of this as though it was the honest truth. As if it were that easy to be someone’s Dad. Even though his two “parents” weren’t dating.
“Ok Buddy, that makes complete sense. Looks like we’re here bud!” Buck parked the car and the two headed in the restaurant. Later that night, Buck was going to have a talk with Eddie but for now, he was starving. They ate their lunch, polishing it off with a chocolate milkshake for Chris. Buck might regret the sugar high later but Chris was not an easy kid to say no to.
Later that night:
Eddie finished his shift and headed straight home. After a long day, all he wanted was to spend time with his son. He got home around dinner time. He opened the door to the sounds of laughter emanating from the kitchen. He dropped his bag by the door, kicked off his shoes and headed towards the kitchen.
“Hey Buddy! How was your day with Buck?” Eddie asked as he knelt down to hug Chris.
“It was great Dad! We went to the park and then I had a milkshake! Chocolate of course.”
“A milkshake?! Sounds like you had a great day, I wish I could have been there with you guys.”
“It’s ok Daddy, there will be other days.” Chris put his hand on Eddie’s shoulder reassuringly.
“I can’t wait. What’s for dinner?” Questioned Eddie.
“What do you want? I can go get something while you get changed.” Buck was eager to get out for a bit. Not that he wanted to leave but Chris was exhausting after a while. The kid had so much energy sometimes and Buck needed a moment to compose himself.
“Pizza is fine, just get the usual.” Eddie said as he headed to get changed.
“Sounds good, I’ll be back in a flash!” Buck sprinted out to his car. The drive to the pizza place was relaxing. Buck couldn’t help but wonder though, he really was like a Dad to Chris. The three of them spent so much time together that they had a usual pizza order for crying out loud. Does that mean that he was dating Eddie though? The thought crossed his mind before but he usually didn’t give it much attention. Maybe it was time that him and Eddie had that talk too.
Buck made his way up the steps to Eddie’s door. Pizza in hand, he turned the knob and let himself in. Eddie had set the table and Chris was waiting patiently for their meal.
“Pizza delivery for Diaz!” Buck joked. He placed the pie on the table and they dug in. Conversation flowed like it normally did. Eddie talked about work and Chris told Eddie what him and Buck did that day. Eventually they migrated to the couch for a movie. Chris had plopped down in between Buck and Eddie just like many nights before.
Not too long after though, Chris was sound asleep. Eddie had his arm slung over the back of the couch, close enough to touch buck yet miles away. Eddie wanted so desperately to wrap his arm around Buck. He wanted to lay it all on the line and tell Buck how he felt but in the back of his mind he felt some hesitation. So he sat there on the couch mindlessly watching the movie. Perhaps he could find the courage to talk to Buck some other night.
“Hey Eddie? We need to talk”. Buck’s voice snapped Eddie out of his thoughts.
“Talk about what Buck?”
“Well, I found out today that Chris calls me Daddy Buck. Now, I love that kid like my own but I don’t know that I like him calling me that.”
“Oh, well...I didn’t think it would be a big deal. I thought it was harmless. You’re pretty much his Dad as much as I am. I can tell him not to call you that though, it’s no biggie. I don’t want you to be uncomfortable.” Eddie was a little hurt but he understood where Buck was coming from.
“It’s not that I’m uncomfortable it’s just I don’t want to get his hopes up. I think he might think we are dating. We’re not and I don’t want him to be confused. Not that I wouldn’t want to date you Eddie but I don’t want him to be confused.”
“Then why don’t we just date?” Questioned Eddie.
“Oh, I mean, um, yeah. I’d be down for that. We pretty much are already, we just never really labeled it. Do you really want to date me Eddie?”
“Buck, look where we are right now. It’s a Friday night and we’re on my couch with my son watching a movie. You could be out having fun but you’re here. Ask yourself, is this where you want to be? I know this is where I want to be.”
“Of course Eddie, this is where I want to be. I’ve had my fun but now I want this. This right here, you me and Chris, this is what I consider fun now. Just relaxing with my family and taking it easy.”
Buck’s words had given Eddie the courage to finally make a move. His arm inched it’s was up from the back of the couch to around Buck’s back. Buck’s shoulder was warm and it felt like his hand fit perfectly there. If Chris wasn’t sprawled out between them, Eddie would have pulled Buck in closer. For now though, this contact was enough to sustain Eddie for the night. He had his two boys with him on the couch, to ask for more would be selfish.
“We gotta get Chris to bed Eddie. He can’t be comfortable in that position.” Eddie nodded in agreement. The two men got up gently. Buck picking up Chris’s head from his lap and Eddie lovingly nudging him awake.
“Wake up Buddy, we should get you to bed.” Eddie’s voice was soft and sweet. Buck felt his heart swell up a bit, he was one lucky man to be here right now.
“Ok Daddy, is Buck going to tuck me in too?”
“Of course buddy, I’ll even make you breakfast in the morning!” Buck shot Chris a smile that melted Eddie’s heart. He was one lucky man to be here right now.
“Can I have a milkshake for breakfast?” Chris sleepily asked.
“No Christopher, but maybe later.” Eddie replied.
“Ok.” Chris whispered into Eddie’s neck. The three of them were on their way to tuck Chris in. Eddie carrying his son and Buck following behind them. They tucked him in, gave him plenty of goodnight kisses and turned out the lights. “Goodnight Dad, goodnight Daddy Buck.”
“Goodnight buddy” Buck and Eddie replied in unison. Eddie closed Chris’ door, he and Buck lingered in the hallway for a moment. The two men wanted to kiss but there was still some trepidation. Instead, Eddie reached out and pulled Buck into a tight hug. They held their position for a moment. Eventually they let go, Eddie was the first to speak.
“So, if you want to spend the night you can Buck. I’d rather you not drive home at this hour. You can crash in the guest room or with me. No pressure.” Eddie was hoping Buck would share his space tonight but was fully aware that it might be too soon. They had literally just established their relationship after all.
“As long as I get to be the big spoon!” Buck responded.
“I’d like that” Eddie happily gave in.

Decisions (1/1) - schitt’s creek ff
Flashbacks to all the little decisions that brought David and Patrick together to their wedding night. Canon compliant through S5. Rated Teen, 5.6k
Yeah, I’ve got it bad for these two.
(ao3)
~~~~~~~~~~
“Was that okay?” David let his hand slide across Patrick’s abdomen, nails scratching through the hair below his navel. He spooned up against Patrick’s back, ignoring the post-coital sweatiness for once in order to cuddle.
“Okay?” Patrick laughed, or more accurately, giggled. “Did you really ask if that was okay? Because I think I might’ve actually blacked out for a minute there.”
David hummed, the path of his hand continuing to Patrick’s hip. “It’s just, it’s our wedding night, so I felt a certain amount of pressure to live up to expectations. Wedding night sex should be, you know, top five sex.”
Patrick rolled over to face him, his nose nuzzling against David’s bare chest. “Contrary to popular belief, I don’t actually keep score on our sex life.”
“Still--”
“It was amazing. You’re amazing.” Patrick kissed him. “You, my husband, are amazing.”
David tried not be thrilled by being called husband, he did, but his hammering heart had other ideas. He remembered stumbling out onto a Manhattan balcony the morning that gay marriage had been legalized in the States, hungover and with only a vague memory of whom he’d gone to bed with the night before, listening with half an ear as his polyamorous performance artist girlfriend at the time lectured her friends about the fact that marriage was a heteronormative construct to which the queer community never should have aspired in the first place. They all nodded sagely, taking drags off their cigarettes in the morning sunlight. David had nodded too, nodded in agreement that marriage was a prison, a trap, a refuge for desperate and weak-willed breeders. It sometimes occurred to him these days that his opinions back then had been thoroughly molded by those around him, pressed into his mind like handprints into soft concrete. Daniella said marriage was a construct, so David believed marriage was a construct. He wondered (not for the first time, or even the hundredth) what that David would think of him now, looking forward to a settled life with this one man who wore sensible Oxford shirts that he bought at the outlet mall in Elmdale.
“Do you ever think about all the tiny decisions we made that led us here?” Patrick asked.
David shook himself out of his reverie. “Hmm?”
Patrick pulled away far enough to be able to focus on his face. “I mean, there’s any number of ways that if things had gone slightly differently, you and I would never have met. Or at the very least, would never have ended up in business together. Or in a relationship.”
“See, I try not to think about things like that, because imagining never being with you would be very upsetting for me. And you know I don’t like my eyes to get puffy.”
“Yeah, you mentioned that to me several times today.”
“Well, it’s important,” David responded, lifting his hand and gesturing in the air for emphasis.
“Important enough to say during the ceremony, though?”
“It’s just that your vows were very emotional.”
“Yeah, I said those things because I like to watch your eyes get puffy,” Patrick said, smirking at him.
David huffed in annoyance, even has he cupped the back of Patrick’s head, fondly stroking the short hair above his neck. “Anyway, no, I don’t get all Gwyneth in Sliding Doors about my life choices.”
“I never saw that movie.”
David reared back, his eyes widening in horror. “Okay, I’m going to need a divorce.”
“Or we could just watch the movie,” Patrick said, grinning, and then leaning in to kiss him.
David hummed and smiled against Patrick’s lips. “Yeah, I suppose we could just watch the movie.”
~*~
Patrick opened the door of his increasing barren apartment to see Rachel standing there. Her eyes were red from crying, and his stomach twisted with guilt at the sight of her.
“Can I come in?” she asked, and what was he supposed to say to that other than yes, so yes is what he said, stepping back to admit her into the cardboard box forest of his living room.
Rachel looked around despondently. “So you’re really moving?” She was dressed in yoga pants and a sweatshirt, her long, red hair pulled back in a messy ponytail. Patrick wished he could hug her because he really needed a hug, but he kept his hands shoved deep in the pockets of his jeans.
“Yeah.”
Her shoulders drooped at that, as if just by asking, she might make him change his mind and stay. Which, given their past, probably wasn’t an unreasonable thing for her to think.
“And you’re just going to drive; you don’t even know where you’re going to live?”
Well, no, that part of the plan he’d told Rachel wasn’t true. He’d wanted it to be true -- wanted to be the kind of person who could just uproot his entire life on a whim and head off into the sunset with no clear idea where he was going to end up. But Patrick was a planner, and in the end he’d been too anxious to go through with that level of spontaneity. Instead he’d browsed job websites until he found something weird but promising, working for a guy named Ray who’d hired him over the phone after a lengthy, very chatty interview. He’d even be able to rent a spare room in Ray’s house, so if Ray turned out to be a serial killer, at least Patrick was making himself fully available to murder at any time of the day or night. He liked to be accommodating that way.
He didn’t want to tell Rachel any of this.
She laughed bitterly. “And here I thought this time, the engagement would stick.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologize to me, I’m sick of your apologies. All you ever do is apologize to me.”
So she came here to berate him, then. Great. Not that he didn’t deserve it, with as many times as he’d broken her heart.
“But I guess that you don’t want to marry me so much that this time you can’t even stand to be in the same town as me,” she continued.
He and Rachel had been best friends in high school, inseparable, and everyone expected them to start dating from the time they were fifteen. Everyone expected it so much that it was like they willed the relationship into existence, and Patrick let himself be swept along with the tide of their expectations. He’d kissed her for the first time after one of his baseball games because he knew he was supposed to. He’d had mediocre sex with her the night of their spring formal because their friends expected it. He’d come home from college and asked her to marry him because his parents and her parents and even the lady who worked the register at the local hardware store had been hinting at him about it. Then a few months later, faced with the fact that being engaged to someone meant you had to actually marry them, he’d panicked and broken off the engagement. That was only the first time he’d broken off their engagement.
It was possible that Patrick was an asshole.
“I just need a fresh start with my life, I can’t--” Stay here. Face you. Face my parents.
“So then go to Toronto, or Chicago, or somewhere normal that people go when they’re trying to get away from home.”
“It’s expensive to live in those places. And I’m a small town guy.”
“I don’t want you to go. I still--” She hiccupped a tiny sob. “I still love you, Patrick.”
He felt like he still loved her too, and also that he’d never had a clear idea of what love actually was. But he knew he couldn’t marry her. With so much uncertainty in his life, he was finally certain of that, albeit several years too late.
“Please don’t go.”
It would make a lot of people happy if he stayed. Rachel, his parents, his buddies from high school who still liked to drink cheap beer and watch hockey. The lady from the hardware store. In leaving, he was disappointing everyone. He could agree not to go, and that weight of disappointing everyone would lift.
Replaced by a heavier weight that he couldn’t quite define, but that had been pushing him down his whole life.
“I’m sorry, Rachel. I have to go.”
~*~
This fucking motel smelled funny, that was why he couldn’t sleep.
David turned over one more time, trying to get comfortable between the scratchy, low thread count sheets. He pulled the sleeve of his designer sweatshirt over his hand and cupped it over his face and inhaled, his eyes squeezed shut as he tried to imagine that he was back in his own bed at his parent’s mansion. Or the bed in his Manhattan loft. Or even the bed of a stranger as he avoided the wet spot on the sheets and wondered if it would be easier just to leave now rather than waiting until morning. Literally anywhere would be better than this hellhole.
Flipping onto his back violently, David huffed out a breath.
“Oh my God, David, can you stop fidgeting for like, two minutes?”
“Fuck off, Alexis.”
She made an unhappy squeaking noise. “You don’t have to be such a dick to me all the time, you know.”
“I think I do.” He was still furious at her that she would have left with Stavros, abandoning him to their mother’s misery and their father’s misplaced optimism and this place.
“I could leave too, you know,” he added.
“Oh really, David? Where would you go?”
 “To New York, where I lived.”
“Your apartment is gone, David.”
“I have friends, Alexis.”
“Oh, do you. Name one.”
He opened his mouth, but before he could say a person who definitely existed and wasn’t made up, Alexis added, “And I mean someone who would actually care enough about you to let you crash on their sofa now that you’re poor. Also, how would you even get to New York? We don’t even have a car. Or money for a plane ticket on a…” -- and here she shuddered -- “commercial airline.”
“Believe me, if I wanted to find someone to put me up in New York, I could. There are men who would be more than happy to send me a plane ticket if I asked.”
“Ew, David. Like a sugar daddy? Even you should have more self-respect than that.”
He snorted. Self-respect. As if.
“And anyway, you’re not the young twink you once were; no one’s going to pay you to be their boy toy now,” she added.
“Jump off a bridge, Alexis,” he said, in no small part because he feared what she said was true. He didn’t have any friends who’d cared about anything but his money and connections, and he probably was too old to attract the attention of someone who might support him financially just because he was pretty and good at sucking dick. A small voice in the back of his head told him he was better off without those kinds of people. He ignored it.
“Fine, prove it. Leave,” she huffed. “Go to New York and find some skeevy guy to support you, see if I care.”
A part of him was so angry with Alexis that he almost got up at one thirty in the morning and stormed out of the room. He’d find a way to get out of this town somehow. He’d walk. He’d hitchhike. He’d sprout wings and fly.
After a long pause during which he stayed under the too-thin bedding, David said, “I can’t leave, I need to be here for Mom. She won’t survive this without me.”
“Yeah, that’s why you’re staying,” Alexis muttered sarcastically.
“Shut up.”
“You shut up.”
~*~
“Feeling better?” Stevie asked as she took the joint out of his hand and put it to her lips. David watched as she took a deep drag and held the smoke in her lungs for a few seconds before blowing it up at the sky.
He leaned back on the worn picnic table behind the motel and looked up at the way the light filtered through the trees. Schitt’s Creek could be oddly beautiful when viewed from the right angle. And when high.
“Yeah. Better.”
“Done freaking out about the store?”
“Probably not, but I am presently done freaking out. At present.”
Stevie giggled, and David rolled over on the table to take the joint back from her.
“It’s the consignment part of it that’s crucial, but I wasn’t able to impart that to that uptight little cutie at Ray’s.”
“You talk like your mother when you’re high.”
David gasped, sitting up. “You take that back.”
Stevie blinked at him. “I just mean you use bigger words. Unnecessarily large words,” she overennunciated. “Wait, you said ‘cutie.’”
“Who did?” He shook his head side-to-side, trying to clear it. “I mean, I said what about what?”
“You said ‘that uptight cutie at Ray’s.’ He’s cute? You failed to mention that, you just said he was snippy.”
“He’s not cute; he was pressuring me to fill out a form. Nothing about that was cute.” David stretched back out on the picnic table.
“And yet you said it.”
“Also I’m pretty sure he was wearing Levi’s.”
Stevie clutched at her heart. “Oh my God.”
“You may not think I can tell when you’re making fun of me but I actually can. I just mean he’s not my type. Which doesn’t matter because I’m sure he’s straight. He was pretty much wearing the straight boy uniform.”
“You sure are worried about what this non-cute boy’s sexual preferences are, David.”
“Nuh-uh.”
Stevie didn’t respond to that, and so they were silent for a while. David continued to squint up at the sunlight-dappled trees and Stevie… thought her Stevie thoughts. David imagined this is what his teen years would have been like if he’d grown up with no money in a town like this: getting stoned with a friend on a sad picnic table behind a motel. No parties with half-naked models and bowls of ecstasy. At the moment, he couldn’t put his finger on any reason why this would have been such a bad way to grow up. He certainly could have used a friend like Stevie in those years. Someone to support him and to call him on his bullshit.
David took a deep breath and broke the silence. “I guess what I wanted to say before I was stoned is, maybe it’s not too late for me to give up on the store idea. My mother was right, I’ve never done anything like this on my own before, and any belated maternal instinct she may have had to encourage me--”
“David Rose, don’t you dare give up on the store. I’ll be furious with you if you do, I mean it.”
“There’s a lot I don’t know about running a business.”
“I know. But you can ask your dad for help. Or you can ask the cutie at Ray’s.”
“I hate you,” he said, but he reached into his pocket and ran his finger along the edge of Patrick’s business card.
“Please don’t give up on it, David.”
He rolled over and looked at Stevie, her black hair tousled in the light breeze. He felt the sudden urge to tell her he loved her, but he figured that was just the marijuana talking. He bit his lips to keep the declaration in and sat up. “I’m going to go down to the store,” he announced.
“To do what?” she asked, hopping down off the picnic table and taking David’s hand to pull him to his feet. The world tilted alarmingly on its axis from this new vantage point.
“To work on my business plan.”
~*~
Patrick called his parents on Sunday afternoons without fail. He felt like if he didn’t stick to the schedule, if he let a Sunday go by and didn’t call them, then he’d start going longer and longer between calls and eventually he’d barely talk to them at all. So he called, right on schedule, even though the thought of talking to them today had caused a ball of anxiety to form in his stomach for some reason that he couldn’t explain.
After the exchange of pleasantries and listening to the latest gossip from his hometown, an uncomfortable silence descended.
“So, I… uh…” Why was this so hard to talk to his parents about? Patrick squeezed his eyes shut and pressed the phone harder against his ear. “I’m not going to be working for Ray anymore.”
“Oh,” his mom said, and he could hear the mixture of confusion and worry in that one little syllable. “That didn’t last very long, did it?”
“I know you said Ray’s a little… scattered, but you probably need to give it some more time, son,” his father said in that deep, sonorous voice that Patrick had failed to inherit.
“Does that mean you’ll be coming back home?” his mom asked, and shit, of course she would jump to that conclusion.
“No, no no, that’s not why I’m… I’m going into partnership with another guy to help him run a store.”
“What guy?” his father asked at the same time his mother said, “A store?”
“Um, his name is David,” Patrick said, and it felt weirdly thrilling and forbidden to speak David’s name out loud to his parents. He frowned; what an odd thought. “The general store in town closed down, and David’s leased it to turn it into a space where he’s going to sell products from local vendors on consignment. It’s a good business model.”
“It sounds interesting,” his dad said, which sounded like a diplomatic way of saying ‘risky.’ Or perhaps a diplomatic way of saying ‘I can’t fathom why you would you give up a good job and a relationship with a lovely girl like Rachel to move to the ass end of the world and drift from one job you’re overqualified for to another.’
“It should be. I’m excited about it.” He paced across the floor, suddenly anxious to get off the phone.
“I saw Mr. Stephens a few days ago,” his father said.
“Oh, yeah?” Theo Stephens had been Patrick’s boss at the bank.
“He said your job is still available if you want to come back home.”
“Tell him he really needs to hire a replacement,” Patrick said.
“I think he did, but it didn’t work out. So he’s looking again to fill the position, and I thought--”
“I’m staying here in Schitt’s Creek, Dad.”
“Don’t take this the wrong way, but why? What does that town have that your hometown doesn’t?”
A rush of images filled Patrick’s head. The clean white walls of the store, and the nice way it smelled now that he and David had washed everything thoroughly and filled it with skin and hair care products. The way David smirked when Patrick said something witty and sardonic, like there was a big smile inside of him that he was barely containing. The way David’s long, ringed fingers looked as he pressed labels onto bottles of moisturizer and bags of tea.
“It has the store.”
“Oh, stop giving Patrick a hard time, Clint,” his mother said. “We just miss you, is all.”
Patrick’s face flushed with shame that he was making his mother sad. “I know, Mom. I miss you too.”
“You’ll keep us posted about how it goes with the store?” his dad asked.
“Yeah, of course,” he said, but there was a part of him that never wanted to mention the store to them again. It was his and David’s, and sharing it with people at home, even his parents, felt strangely blasphemous.
“We love you, son.”
“Love you, too.”
The next few days were filled with body milk and spreadsheets of vendors and inventory and laughter and his heart squeezing uncomfortably in his chest every time he looked at David across the room. On Patrick’s next day off, he got up early and went for a hike, like if he didn’t keep moving his skin might turn itself inside out.
Or like he might have to admit that he had romantic feelings for David.
It wasn’t that the thought of being gay had never occurred to him before; he wasn’t born under a rock, after all. But he dismissed it, because gay men weren’t like him. Gay men were like David, fashion-conscious and unaware of what a change-up pitch was. And then there had been Rachel and a few other girls in college, keeping him from seriously questioning his sexuality. He looked straight, he acted straight, he’d had sex with women. Although, true, he’d always wondered what the big deal about sex was, because he’d secretly never thought it was all that great. And true, he’d once sat in a darkened theater watching Avengers and spending a lot more time focusing on Chris Evans than on Scarlett Johansson. But he’d never really fallen for a boy either, and eventually Patrick had concluded that he wasn’t a particularly sexual person. That was a thing, after all; he’d read about it.
Then he met David Rose.
He spent hours working on the store’s budget and thinking about the turn of David’s neck. He stocked shelves and thought about David’s elegant fingers, with those silver rings that would catch the light and attract Patrick’s attention like a moth to a streetlamp. He stared into the middle distance, listening to the jazz that David insisted was an essential part of the store’s aesthetic, and thought about what David’s mouth would feel like on his own.
There was no use denying it: for the first time in his life, Patrick was falling for someone, and it was a man. And while that was confusing enough, the bigger problem was that it was his business partner.
Patrick reached the overlook point, and he stopped to catch his breath, sweat running down between his shoulder blades.
“I’m gay,” he said out loud to the forest, testing the words, the very concept, in his mouth.
“I’m gay. I’m very, very gay for David Rose,” he said, and then laughed. He sounded crazy.
An argument could be made that it would be the wisest course never to act on his feelings because of the business. The most likely outcome to sharing his feelings with David would be a humiliating rejection; Patrick wasn’t the kind of person David would be attracted to, surely, and the best he could hope for would be for David not to laugh in his face. Even if by some miracle David was interested, all that would probably lead to would be a short relationship that would inevitably end, leaving Patrick working day in and day out with the man who’d broken his heart.
He imagined asking David out, and David saying yes. Suddenly it was all he wanted, to go on a date with David, but he didn’t know if he’d have the courage to do it. Still, admitting that he wanted to, admitting what his feelings were, that was almost as good as making the decision to act on them.
“I’m so fucked,” Patrick said to the trees. They nodded in the breeze in agreement.
~*~
It was a rare day off from the store, and all David had wanted to do was sleep until noon and then lie in bed and eat a bag of chips and watch whatever was on the Hallmark Channel, which was available on the new cable package that his dad had gotten for the motel. Instead, his mother had woken him up with a list of chores, the latest of which was helping her to groom her wigs. So putting it mildly, David was crabby. He wanted to text Patrick and tell him about the trials his mother was putting him through, but Patrick was working at the store alone today and he probably wouldn’t appreciate the interruption.
“I like you and Patrick together,” his mother said, and David eyed her suspiciously, wondering if she’d finally learned to read his mind.
“There’s nothing to like yet; we’ve been on one date and we’ve kissed a few times, that’s all.” He combed the wig he was working on a little more vigorously, which got him a reproachful look from Moira.
“Perhaps that’s so, but the spark between you is pellucid for all to see.” She gave him a knowing smile. “He lights up when you walk in the room, and I dare say the reverse is also accurate.”
“Okay, well.” David bit down on a smile, lest he prove her point. “There’s still a lot that can go wrong, that’s all. And when things do go wrong, both my personal life and my business will be fucked, so.”
“Don’t be so fatalistic, David. You mustn’t assume that things will go wrong.”
“Things always go wrong.” He set the hairbrush down with a clatter. “I’m the first guy he’s been with. Literally the first man he’s ever kissed. It’s… it’s like holding a baby bird in my hand while riding a roller coaster. Any minute now we’re going to go over a big drop and I’ll forget and” -- he closed his fist tightly -- “I’ll crush him.”
“A very evocative avian metaphor, darling, but Patrick’s a grown man, not a bébé bird. Inexperienced with some activities, I’m sure, but he doesn’t strike me as someone who can’t take care of himself.” She gave him a sidelong glance. “Are you sure you aren’t the bird on the ferris wheel, David?”
“I said roller coaster,” he responded petulantly. “And hardly.”
Moira looked unconvinced.
“God, what am I doing, getting involved with my business partner? This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever done in a… lifetime of dumb things,” he said with a flourish of his hand in the air. “I should end it now, before things get even messier.”
Tilting her head and regarded him for a moment, Moira reached out and put a hand on his bicep. “You’ve often put your heart in the care of people who have hurt you. But that isn’t because you are feeble-minded. It’s because those people weren’t worthy of you. Patrick, I think, may be worthy of you.”
“Okay, you barely know him.”
His mother just smiled. “I have a good feeling about him, that’s all. Have a little faith in the power of love.”
“Ew.”
She ignored that. “I implore you, David, don’t end things with him before they’ve even begun. Open your heart to the possibility of joy.”
“Ugh.” David went back to combing out the wig. “Fine.”
~*~
“Hey, do you wanna get a drink after rehearsal?” Patrick asked, which made Stevie narrow her eyes at him in confusion.
“David’s not expecting you?”
“We are capable of being apart for an evening.” At Stevie’s skeptical look, he added. “I told him you were stressed about the show and that I was planning to take you out for a drink.”
“So you lied.”
“No, I didn’t. You are stressed about the show, and I was planning to take you out for a drink.”
Patrick was being weird. “What’s going on, Brewer?”
“Nothing’s going on. I. want. to. get. a. drink. Do. you. want. to. get. a. drink.” Each word came out in a monotone.
She huffed. “Sure.”
“Great.” He looked simultaneously frustrated that she was being so difficult and yet pleased that she’d finally agreed.
When they were released by Moira from Cabaret rehearsal, sweaty and exhausted, Stevie was surprised when Patrick led her toward his car instead of down the street to the cafe. “Where are we going?”
“The Wobbly Elm,” he said, unlocking the passenger door and opening it for her.
“We could just go to the cafe,” she said, but she got in the car anyway. Going to the cafe meant she might have to sample one of Twyla’s terrible cocktail experiments.
Patrick got in the car and cranked the engine. “I find that when I have conversations in the cafe, somehow half the town knows what I was talking about by morning.”
Stevie’s suspicion meter edged up a couple more notches. “You are being really weird.”
“I know,” he said, pulling out onto the main road out of the center of town.
“If something bad is happening with David, or if something bad is about to happen, like if you’re planning to break up with him, you better tell me now. If you wait until I’ve got a drink in me at the bar, I might beat you with a pool cue and leave you for dead in the woods.”
Patrick laughed. “Nothing like that, I promise. I don’t think you’ll feel the temptation to beat me to death.” And then he changed the subject to Cabaret, and Stevie let him, because she had an infinite well of frustration to express about the show and her part in it.
He let her rant the whole way to the bar, but once they had their drinks ordered, he put a gentle hand on her arm. “You’re way too hard on your performance, you know. Your voice is actually really good.”
She snorted, taking a large pull from her beer. “It really isn’t. I know what singers are supposed to sound like, and I don’t sound like that.”
“Maybe not, but you sound real, and you sound vulnerable. You’re gonna be a fantastic Sally; I mean that.”
Stevie flushed, uncomfortable with the compliment. “Thanks,” she said, and then cleared her throat. “Okay, what did you drag me all the way out here for?” Now it was Patrick’s turn to look uncomfortable. “Oh. Well, there’s something I want to do, and I’m hoping that if it’s a terrible idea, you’ll talk me out of it.”
“Okay,” Stevie said slowly. “It probably is a terrible idea, but what the hell -- what is it?”
Patrick took a long drink from his beer glass as if for strength. “I’m thinking about asking David to marry me.”
Stevie almost choked on her beer. “Oh my God. Oh my God! Patrick!” She wanted to hug him, but she wasn’t sure if they were hugging friends, or non-hugging friends. “Patrick, that’s amazing!”
He just nodded. “Yes, but is it a terrible idea?”
She had to pause at that. Had David ever mentioned marriage to her, or what he thought of it? She didn’t think so. “Have you ever talked about marriage with him?”
“Not in those terms, but we’re starting to talk about… really long term things. Being together years from now, and what we might do. It just seems like that’s where his head is, like he finally trusts that I’m not going to lose interest in him. And I want to… I guess I’m just a traditional guy at heart and I’d really like to have that whole thing. The wedding. The vows and the cake and the dancing.” He rubbed his hand over his face. “But I don’t know. Maybe he won’t want that.”
“I might’ve assumed that about David at one point, that he wasn’t the marrying kind. But watching him with you, like the way he was with your parents, and planning your birthday party?” Stevie smiled, and then suddenly she had to force back tears. “I think if I had to place a bet on it, I’d bet on him saying yes.”
Patrick let out a breath he was holding. “Okay, cool. Okay.” And then he smiled one of his soft smiles at her. “So do I have your blessing?”
Her eyes widened. “My what?”
“I mean, I could ask his father, I guess, but I don’t think David would appreciate that. Also I don’t think Mr. Rose would be able to keep a secret. And anyway, I feel like you’re the… you’re like the guardian of David’s heart, if that makes sense. So I think you’re the one I should ask.”
The tears became impossible to hold back now. Stevie felt like the play was scraping her raw as it was, exposing a deep well of emotions just below the surface. Grabbing a cocktail napkin, she dabbed at her eyes.
“Stevie, don’t cry, you’re gonna make me cry.”
Laughing, she handed him a cocktail napkin. “You’re such a softy.”
“I know, I know.”
“Yes, you have my blessing. I mean, I basically bullied David into realizing he was into you, so it would be pretty shitty of me not to give you my blessing to marry him.”
Patrick smirked at her. “Yeah, that would be pretty shitty, and you did what now?”
Stevie picked up her beer glass and clinked it against Patrick’s. “I love both you idiots.”
~*~
 “Stevie called us idiots,” Patrick mumbled as they were both drifting off to sleep.
“Yeah, her wedding toast left something to be desired, and the fact that I cried anyway just shows how ragged my emotions were today.”
“Not in the toast, I mean when I asked for her blessing to propose, she said ‘I love both you idiots’.”
David pressed his resulting grin against Patrick’s forehead. “That sounds like Stevie.” He squeezed his eyes shut. “I’m so glad my family lost all our money. I’m so glad you couldn’t stay in your hometown anymore and that Ray posted that stupid job online. I’m so glad we made all the right decisions that led us to right here, right now,” David said in a rush, like he had to get the words out before he changed his mind about saying them.
Patrick put his hand over David’s where it rested on his hip and threaded their fingers together, bringing David’s hand to his lips. “Me too, sweetheart.”
Angels Are Watching Over You
I decided to write a fluffy, happy, domestic au to combat the terrible feelings that promo gave me ( ** NO SPOILERS I PROMISE**)
Here’s the link for it on my archive if you’d rather read it there : Angels Are Watching Over You AO3
2:07 AM
“Babe.”
Nothing.
“Baabbbee.”
Nothing.
“Babe,” Castiel growls, sticking his head up off the pillow and glaring daggers at the peacefully sleeping man beside him.
With a not so gentle kick to his shin, Castiel finally gets the reaction he was looking for. Dean startles, then grumbles and rubs a fist at his eye. “Whaa-?”
“Your turn.”
“Huh?”
Castiel stabs a finger in the direction of the bedroom door and spits out, “Your. Turn. Go.”
His husband looks where he’s pointing, propping himself up on an elbow and scrubbing at his face with a hand. He yawns and then sits up fully. “Time‘s ‘it?”
“Two in the fucking morning. And it’s your turn! I did the last three.” Castiel puts both hands on his husband’s back and shoves him off the bed.
Grumbling about crabby ass husbands being lucky that they’re cute, Dean stumbles out of the room and down the hall to the last door on the left. He’s not as good at this as Castiel is. He takes forever before he wakes up to the crying and he never understands what each cry means. He doesn’t know the difference between gas or over tired or hungry or just plain unhappy.
He should have remembered to ask Castiel which one it is right now, but he was too busy dealing with the cruel ejection from their nice warm bed.
“Okaay, okay, I’m here,” he coos, padding softly into the nursery. The annoyed, over tired dad in him disappears when he stands at the edge of the crib and peers down at the beautiful baby boy. His tiny fists are tight balls and his little chubby legs are kicking angrily as he wails. “Hey now, Jack. None of that. Daddy’s here.”
Reaching over the railing, Dean picks the infant up and places him against his bare chest, gently rocking and bouncing him as he starts to pace around the room. “What’s wrong little guy? Huh? Tell daddy.”
The baby wiggles in his arms and he feels the weight of his full diaper. Excited that he figured out the problem, but feeling like an idiot for not checking the diaper first thing, he walks over to the changing table and places the baby on it. He pulls out a new diaper and a pack of wipes.
Jack kicks him when he tries putting the new diaper on. “Hey, now. That’s not very polite. I’m just trying to help you feel clean, buddy.”
The little one squawks at him but doesn’t kick him anymore. Just waves his scrunched up fists and gurgles. When the dry diaper is secured and his footie pajamas are buttoned back up, Dean takes him in his arms again and heads back to the crib.
“There we go. Daddy’s getting the hang of this, hey? All better.”
He places Jack in the center of the mattress and brushes a finger down the baby’s soft, chubby cheek. Then he turns on his fluffy white angel mobile that has little angels flying among the stars and watches him coo at it for a few seconds as it slowly twirls, a classical music piece playing.
“Sleep tight, Jack,” Dean whispers. “Angels are watchin’ over you.”
2:49 AM
Jack’s sharp cries wake Castiel up with a start. He sits up and cradles his head in his hands, telling himself to just breathe. They’ve had the infant for eight days now. Eight days of no sleep. Eight days of walking around like a zombie. Eight days of bickering with Dean. Eight days without sex.
He just wants to fucking sleep.
Throwing the blankets off, he slides out of the bed and hurries down the hall, knowing that the faster he soothes Jack to sleep, the faster he can get back to bed himself.
“Alright buddy. We’re okay. It’s okay.” He checks his diaper, noticing that it’s dry, then grabs the pacifier that was tossed to the side and places it in his mouth. The baby rudely spits it out at him and begins to screech again. His angry fists and feet kick out like he’s trying to fight Castiel off. Despite the sleep deprivation and terrible mood, Castiel finds himself smiling. “You’ve got your daddy in you, little guy. I think I’m gonna regret that decision.”
It’s a lie, of course. It took Dean and Castiel three months of fighting to decide who got to be the biological father for their surrogate. Dean was dead set against it being him. He didn’t want the poor kid to be riddled with the alcoholism gene. He was paranoid enough about being a shitty dad, he didn’t want the boy to be lonely and sad and fucked up from the very start. Castiel said that was all bullshit. That Dean would be a great father, and that their son or daughter would never be lonely or sad. He also assured him that he was not fucked up from the start. Hell, he was never fucked up, even at the end. Dean Winchester has always been perfect.
Castiel was dead set on being the father because he was just really looking forward to a little one that looked like Dean. Big green eyes and goofy grin and freckles. So many freckles. Castiel may have been the nerd in high school, and graduated with honors in college, but Dean was the social one. The funny one. The adventurous, brave, happy, beautiful one. Castiel wasn’t worried like Dean was. He had good genes. Good parents. Good siblings. Okay, well, mostly good siblings. He wouldn’t be thrilled with his kid getting Gabriel’s genes.
No, Castiel wasn’t worried about that. He just knew he was the luckiest in the entire world for being the one to have Dean Winchester. He couldn’t think of anything better in his life than having a mini version.
“And you look just like him, Jack,” Castiel whispers to the baby in his arms as he waits for the machine to warm the bottle of formula inside it. “Just like him. All you need is the freckles, but I think those will come. Either way, you’re beautiful. My beautiful boy.”
The baby scrunches his face at him, unimpressed with his sweet words. He just wants his damn bottle of formula. It’s almost like Castiel can hear a tiny little Dean voice bitching at him about being hungry.
The warmer beeps and he grabs the bottle out of it, tilting it for a moment so some formula spills on his wrist. Once he’s checked that it’s warm but not hot, he places the nipple in the baby’s mouth. Jack makes a squeaky little sound of happiness and bats at the bottle with his fists as he sucks his formula down.
“There ya go. That’s it.” Castiel yawns, then cracks one eye open to look at the oven clock. “Now, if you can just let daddy and papa sleep for four more hours, we’ll be so so happy baby boy. Can you do that? Nice dry diaper. Full belly. A good night, yeah? Everyone get some rest and it’ll be better in the morning. We can all cuddle on the couch and watch cartoons. Wouldn’t that be nice?”
Castiel reaches the edge of the crib, the bottle nearly empty now. “Wouldn’t it be nice to get some real sleep, Jack? Papa needs some sleep.”
The baby finishes his formula and almost immediately falls asleep, the nipple slipping from his tiny lips. Castiel places the empty bottle on the top of his dresser and presses a firm kiss to his forehead. “That’s it, baby. Sweet dreams.”
He places the baby down in the middle of the mattress and smiles down at him. “Good night, Jack. Angels are watching over you.”
3:21 AM
Dean trips over Castiel’s briefcase on the way out of the room and kicks it in frustration. “Fucking mess. This house is a mess.”
“Well maybe if you cleaned once in a fucking while!” Castiel yells from the bed where he’s still lying beneath the warm covers.
“Maybe if I could fucking sleep.”
“None of us are sleeping, Dean.”
“Yeah, well, you’re not exactly working are you?” Dean scrunches his eyes up, immediately regretting that. “I’m sorry. That wasn’t - what you’re doing is still working, Cas. I know being home with Jack is important. I’m so thankful for you, baby. Your such a good papa to him.”
Castiel grumbles unintelligibly before throwing a pillow at him. “Just get him to bed so we can cuddle, asshole.”
Desperate to make sure things are okay between them, Dean nearly sprints down the hall and into Jack’s room. He threw the pacifier on the floor. Dean picks it up and slides it into the baby’s screaming mouth. Jack sucks at it like it’s oxygen, head rolling to the side as he falls back to sleep.
Doing a silent fist pump in the air, Dean hurries back to the room. He makes sure to avoid the briefcase and pick up the pillow on his way back to the bed, since it was his. Castiel is half asleep but rolls over so he can bury his face against Dean’s chest.
“I’m sorry,” Dean whispers into his husband’s unruly hair.
“Shhh,” Castiel presses a kiss to his chest and smiles against the bare skin. “Go to sleep, my love.”
4:01 AM
Castiel contemplates leaving the house and never turning back. He could get in the car, find somewhere to park, take a nap, and then drive. Drive far and fast away. No babies crying or crabby, mean husbands making him feel like some useless housewife.
“Come on, Jack,” he grumbles, impatiently rocking back and forth. “You ate. You peed. You pooped. You ate. What else is there?”
Adjusting the baby, he cradles him to his chest and bounces instead of rocks, patting his bum. He hums some song he heard on the radio and mindlessly thinks of Shakespeare quotes and literary analysis, missing his college students. Missing being a professor. Hell, he even misses the monotony of grading the downright terrible freshman english papers, from students who are there for math and science and don’t give two shits about writing essays.
Jack makes a choking sound and Castiel pulls him away, his heart skipping as he wonders if his baby is dying. A second later, the sound comes again, and Jack is projectile vomiting onto his chest.
Well, at least it wasn’t his face.
The baby hums appreciatively, then coos and lets his eyes flutter shut.
“Well,” Castiel whispers, sighing. “At least we solved the problem.”
He places the baby down in the crib, amazed that he doesn’t have any vomit at all on him, and kisses the air with a loud smooching sound. He puts the pacifier in his mouth and stumbles out of the room.
“G’night. Angels watchin’ over ya,” he mumbles, not even finishing the sentence until he’s in his own room again.
It takes an awful lot of strength to move past the bed without getting in it, but he knows he has to clean up. When he gets into their attached bathroom, he squints in the bright light and starts to strip, feeling disgusting and sticky and smelly and fucking exhausted. He climbs into the tub and collapses, reaching over to slap at the faucet until the shower turns on, sending lukewarm water over him. He keeps the drain open and just lies back, using the wall as a pillow and closing his eyes.
Just one minute. Then he’ll towel off and get in bed.
4:12 AM
Knowing it’s his turn, Dean sits up in bed and yawns when he hears Jack the next time. He glances at Castiel’s side of the bed and smiles when he sees his husband already got up. God, he loves that man. He collapses against the pillow and smiles to himself, falling back asleep within seconds.
4:17 AM
“Cas?” Dean mumbles, looking around the room, wondering why his husband still isn’t back. Wondering why the baby is still crying.
He pushes off his blankets, getting tangled up in them and falling onto the floor. With a grunt and a few choice curse words, he kicks them off and gets back to his feet, stumbling down the hall. When he gets to Jack’s room, he notices his husband isn’t in it.
Maybe he’s downstairs warming a bottle.
In the meantime, Dean reaches down and takes Jack into his arms. His diaper needs to be changed again. Like a robot, he removes the soiled diaper, wipes the baby with two wipes, one for his front and one for his back, then secures a new diaper on. He buttons up the pajamas and gives him a pacifier, relaxing when the baby goes back to sleep in his arms.
He places Jack back in the crib and mumbles. “Night. Angel’s watchin’ over ya.”
Dean goes downstairs to let Castiel know the bottle isn’t needed anymore, but he’s not there either. He has to tell his heart to calm the fuck down. Sometimes, in the middle of the night like this, thoughts flash in Dean’s mind. Thoughts of what it was like before Jack. Hell, before Castiel, even. One night stands with no responsibilities. Extra whiskey and beer. Food that was terrible for him, because he didn’t have a husband to bitch at him for being healthy. He wonders what it would be like to leave, but he doesn’t leave. He’s never left. He won’t ever leave.
Castiel didn’t leave.
Castiel wouldn’t leave.
Dean yelled at him and made him feel like he was a fucking freeloader or something. What if he got upset? What if he feels unneeded? What if Dean finally did the thing he knew was coming all along? The thing that would fuck up his one chance at being happy?
“Cas?” Dean whisper shouts in a panic, walking through the house. By the time he reaches their bedroom, the very last place he checks, he’s crying. Fully crying. On the verge of sobbing.
He didn’t even leave a fucking note.
He starts searching for his phone and realizes it’s probably in the pocket of his jeans, which he took off to shower before bed last night. That’s when he steps closer to the bathroom and realizes the water is running.
Carefully, quietly, Dean pushes the bathroom door open. He peeks inside and his heart skips. “Oh, babe,” he whispers, even though Castiel clearly can’t hear him.
Smiling in relief, Dean grabs a towel from the rack and walks up to the tub. He turns the water off and kneels on the bath mat. Castiel is sprawled out and snoring. He’s still wearing one sock.
Dean’s never felt so in love in his entire life.
“Baby, hey.” He reaches over and gently shakes him away. “Baby. Wake up.”
“No. Y’r tur’ ‘n Dee.”
Chuckling, Dean whispers, “Yes, honey. My turn. Aren’t you cold? Let me help you to the bed.”
“Mmm.” Castiel bats his eyes to make the drops of water disappear from his lashes, then squints at Dean. “Cold. Bed.”
“Yeah. Cold. Bed. Come on.” He lifts Castiel, holding him up against him as he pulls him from the tub. He uses the towel to dry him off the best he can and helps him back into the bedroom. When they get to the edge of the mattress, Dean has him sit down and does another once over on his body with the towel, making sure to get his hair. “Jack puked on me.”
“And you needed to shower right at that moment?”
Castiel shrugs a shoulder and mumbles, “Gross.”
“God, I love you.”
“You too.”
Smiling, Dean guides him back until he’s lying down, tucking him in and placing a kiss on his forehead. Then he towels himself off from Castiel making him wet, thankful he wasn’t wearing a shirt, and crawls in beside him. Pulling him in nice and tight, Dean cradles him to his chest and closes his eyes.
4:33 AM
Dean slips out of the bed, doing his best not to wake Castiel up. He storms into the nursery with a new give ‘em hell attitude. “Alright, Jack. Listen here. Last time. I’m going to take care of what’s wrong, I’m going to sing you my favorite song that grandma used to sing to me, and then you’re going to sleep until the sunshine is up. Okay? Not until the sun is up.”
He pauses like Jack can answer him, then nods. “Okay. Good plan.”
Clean diaper. Bottle. Pacifier. Bouncing. Rocking. Singing.
And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders
For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder
Movement catches Dean’s eye. He looks over at the doorway and smiles. His gorgeous husband is leaning a shoulder against the door frame, arms crossed over his chest. Since he fell asleep with damp hair, half of it is sticking in all directions, the other half flattened. He scrunches his nose and winks at Dean when their eyes meet.
I love you, he mouths across the room.
Feeling warmth grow in his chest, Dean mouths back I love you, too.
Castiel joins him beside the crib as Dean gently places the baby down. He puts his pacifier in while Castiel turns the mobile on. Then Castiel wraps his arm around Dean’s waist, leaning into him, pressing a kiss to his temple.
“When you were in the shower, I couldn’t find you,” Dean admits in a hushed whisper.
Castiel looks up at him with a frown. “Dean. Never. I will never leave you two.”
“Just.” Dean’s eyes dart back and forth between Castiel and Jack. When he finally settles back on Castiel, he’s pleading. “Promise?”
“Promise. I love you, Dean Winchester. I’m not going anywhere. Ever.”
“Okay. I knew that, I did. I just - I needed to hear it again.”
“I’ll tell you every single day if you need me to.”
Smiling, they both turn to stare down at their beautiful son.
“Good night, Jack. Sleep well,” Dean whispers.
Castiel leans his head against Dean’s shoulder and adds, “Angels are watching over you.”
8:46 AM
Castiel opens his eyes and yawns, stretching an arm out. He lifts his head and squints at the alarm clock, shocked at the time. Dean is still asleep beside him, which means Jack must still be asleep. The worried papa in him makes him go check just in case. He peeks his head into the nursery and watches for a minute. When Jack’s leg involuntarily moves, meaning he’s still breathing, Castiel practically runs back to bed.
He gets under the covers and curls up to his husband, smiling when Dean wraps around him like a damn spider monkey.
“‘Vrythin’ okay?” Dean slurs.
Castiel squeezes him tight and closes his eyes. “Yeah, babe. Everything’s perfect.”
More (c.h) Chapter One
This is something I’ve been working on for awhile, more or less for my own fantasy granting joyness. Not sure how many parts this will be yet.
Summary: Single dad Calum doesn’t want to leave his son, Kai while he goes on tour. A nanny accompanies them and Kai isn’t the only one who falls in love.
author’s note: this is sort of a rushed intro lol sorry
Masterlist
*****
Calum was a bit of stickler when it came to love, especially because the woman he thought he loved left him after having his baby and leaving him on his doorstep with a quick written note, I’m sorry. A tiny bundle wrapped in a blue blanket with his birth certificate with no name except for Calum’s. His son, who Calum named Kai, is a spitting image of Calum, no ounce of his mother at all. He didn’t even know she was pregnant when they broke up but his three best friends were more than helpful.
Kai was one now, and although Calum didn’t think he was the world’s most perfect dad, he loved his little boy more than anything. He was his number one priority but Crystal and Sierra noticed how lonely Calum was even before Kai appeared in his life.
“He’s not going to want to go on a date, you know how much Jane hurt him when she ended it,” Michael says while he and Crystal are having lunch with Luke and Sierra.
“But we know the perfect girl!” Sierra insists. “She’s sweet, funny and she works with kids. We’ve wanted to set her up with Cal since before he and Jane even started dating.”
“I don’t know, I don’t think he’d want to try it,” Luke shakes his head.
“Also, remember that Calum has sworn off love,” Michael adds.
“But he hasn’t met—“
“Babe, I love you but let sleeping lions lie,” Michael tells Crystal and both girls slump back in their seats in defeat.
“So, we’ll be leaving on tour in like a month and a half,” Ashton begins at a meeting to discuss the tour schedule amongst other things. “And Cal, I know you don’t want to leave Kai, so . . . do you have any solutions?”
“Mali suggested I hire a nanny,” Calum says looking over at Kai who was playing with Luke across the way. “Which doesn’t sound like that bad of an idea. We’ll be gone for nine months, no way am I going to leave him behind.”
“That seems like a good idea. Have you been looking into anyone?” Michael asks.
“I’ve been researching a few agencies,” Calum nods, “but I haven’t interviewed anyone yet.”
“Want one of us to do it with you?” Ashton cocks an eyebrow.
“That’d be helpful actually, make sure I’m picking the right person.”
“Let us know when you have an interview,” Ashton says then Kai begins to whine and squirm in Luke’s arms.
“Naptime,” Calum sighs lifting his son from Luke. “Hey buddy, let’s go relax, yeah?” Kai quiets down a little but is still fussing when Calum takes him into his room.
“A nanny is a great idea,” Luke says, “she’d be with Kai while we do shows and interviews and things.”
“Yeah, and he’d still be with Cal,” Ashton agrees.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
 Calum asked Ashton to interview the ladies that he found on a secure, background checked site. They already spoke with five of them but none of them have really stuck out to Calum.
“What about Kate? She seemed good,” Ashton says.
“She’s too proper. I want someone who will be fun but will follow Kai’s schedule and will vibe with all of us. This is hopeless,” Calum rubs his face with his hands. “If we don’t find someone then I’ll have to leave Kai with my mum and I don’t really want to do that.”
“I know, man, don’t worry. We’ll find someone. Next one is Holly Golde.”
Calum does a double take when he hears the door open and sees the woman walking in. She has frosty blond hair, small stature and the biggest blue eyes he’s ever seen. She was wearing all black with a long gold necklace and her smile was radiant. Wow.
“Hi, I’m Holly it’s so great to meet you,” she smiles holding out her hand.
“Ashton, nice to meet you,” he shakes her hand. “And this is Calum, the father of that handsome fella over there.”
Holly turns her gaze to where Ashton is pointing to see Kai playing on a blanket with his favorite toys.
“He’s adorable,” Holly smiles again.
“Thanks for coming, I’m Calum Hood,” Calum greets and shakes her hand as well. He notices how soft they are against his rough ones. All three of them sit down. “So, have you been a nanny before?”
“No, I haven’t, but I went to school for child care, I work in the nursery at my church every Sunday and I’m CPR certified. I know the hours will be abnormal but I’m willing to help out anyway that I can. I love kids, they’re the best thing in the world.”
“And you’re sure you’ll be fine traveling to different countries with us?”
“I’ll manage it no problem,” she nods affirmatively.
“Can I ask how old you are?” Ashton asks.
“I’m twenty-three.”
“Holly,” Calum says and he likes how pretty it is, “We’ll be dealing with fans all over the world. Obviously if I’m not with you you’ll have security so that Kai doesn’t get bombarded with fans but will you be able to handle that? Being around all those people?”
“I’ll be honest, big crowds like that do frighten me a little bit but I promise you I won’t let anything bad happen to your son. I will make sure he’s safe and protected.”
“When—“
Just then Kai starts crying, all three of them turn their heads to see Kai has fallen backwards hitting his head on the floor that wasn’t covered by the blanket. His round face was pinched and red as tears flowed from his eyes. Calum stood up but Holly was faster and scooped him up in her arms.
“Hey there, baby, did you hit your head?” she holds him on her hip using her left hand to cradle his head. “I know it scared you more than anything, but that’s okay. Here, let’s go look for birdies outside, hm?” she walks him to the window and looks out of it, pointing and bouncing him gently in her arms. She’s talking in soothing tones to him and his cries turn to sniffles.
Calum has never seen Kai adjust to someone so instantaneously before, and be soothed that quickly from someone other than him and his friends. He saw his son’s small fingers clutch the fabric of Holly’s shirt as she continues to point outside which he does as well when he sees something.
Calum turns to look at Ashton whose eyebrows are raised in amazement and nods encouragingly. Holly was perfect.
“Holly, would you like to be our nanny?” Calum asks and she turns around. Kai is playing with a strand of her hair and smiles happily at his daddy.
“Really?!” her eyes widen happily.
“Yes,” Calum grins and pinches his son’s cheek. “I’ve never seen him be taken with someone so quickly before. You’re obviously qualified and . . . I have a good feeling about you. I trust you with him.”
“Thank you, Mr. Hood, I would love to.”
“Please, call me Calum,” he makes a face then laughs. “We’re the same age.”
“All right, Calum,” she laughs. “I accept the job. Thank you.”
“Our assistant is right through there, she’ll go over all the details and paperwork with you, make sure you have your passport and all that. But once that’s finished, we’ll be seeing you in a few weeks when we head to New York.”
“Sounds good, here you go,” she hands Kai to Calum. “I’ll head on back, and thank you again, this is an amazing opportunity.”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Before leaving for tour, Holly began to nanny for Kai about a week after she got the job. She wanted to make sure she got the hang of Kai’s schedule, and that he would become even more comfortable with her. Calum hated how he wasn’t home that much with Kai since they released the new single from the album, but appreciated having Holly.
He’d come home and the house would be clean, a majority of Kai’s toys would be put away, the dish washer would be runnng quietly and after the first few days, the laundry was done as well. She was impeccable at her job and Calum is extremely happy he hired her. Kai absolutely adores her.
“Hi,” Holly greets with a smile and the laundry basket jutted on her hip. “Kai’s been in bed for about an hour.”
“That’s good,” Calum sighs emptying his pockets of his keys and phones on the countertop. “And thank you for . . . everything. Guess I’m still getting the hang of being a single dad.”
“It’s not a problem at all, and I think you’re doing fine.” She begins to fold Kai’s onesies and his burp rags.
“Thank you, and I can’t tell you how grateful I am that you’ll be coming on tour with us,” he shakes his head and picks up some laundry and begins to fold. “It’d kill me to leave Kai with my parents.”
“Can I ask you a personal question? Please don’t feel obligated to answer, but, what happened to Kai’s mom?”
Calum took his time folding Kai’s onesie that reads ‘Daddy’s little rockstar,’ a gift from Ashton.
“She and I were together for about a year and a half, then out of the blue she broke up with me. No explanation just that it was over. I didn’t handle it well, and then nine months later, she left him on my doorstep with a note saying “I’m sorry.” His birth certificate and full custody papers were with him and it’s been me and him ever since.”
“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry she did that to you,” she holds his forearm in sincerity. “You had no idea she was pregnant when she broke up with you?”
“Not a clue. I don’t know if that’s why she broke up with me, thinking I wouldn’t step up or something which is ironic because she’s the one who left. I struggled a bit at first, I didn’t know the first thing about babies, especially having one of my own. So my parents and sister helped out a lot for the first few months, even the guys did too.”
“Well, Kai is a very lucky little boy to have you as a dad.”
Just then Kai’s cries come through the baby monitor, they turn to it then to each other. Holly places her last folded article of clothing on the couch to go get him but Calum stops her by holding onto her wrist.
“I got it, I haven’t seen him all day,” he smiles. She returns the smile and watches him head down the hallway to Kai’s room.
She continues to fold the laundry and hears Calum’s voice soothe his son through the monitor that’s sitting on the coffee table.
“Hey baby, Daddy’s got you, yeah? You’re all right.”
Holly moves to turn the monitor down but stops when she hears him say her name.
“You like Holly don’t you? I’m glad you’re comfortable with her . . . and she’s very pretty isn’t she?”
Holly’s hand freezes midway to the volume dial; did she hear him correctly? He thinks she’s pretty? He doesn’t say anything else after that and she continues folding the laundry until he comes out a few minutes later. She prayed desperately that her cheeks weren’t rosy.
“Is he okay?” she asks.
“Yeah, I think he might be getting his first tooth. That’s going to be fun on tour,” he heaves a big sigh.
“We’ll manage,” she assures him with a smile and because she says so, he believes they will.
Film Recommendations!
I thought I’d recommend some of my absolute favourite movies, because I love sharing my love of movies and just things in general with people. So, in no particular order, here is my list of recommendations:
1. Tombstone (1993)
Tumblr media
So I just watched this movie a couple days ago and absolutely loved it. Yes, it is a western. Do you need to like westerns to watch it? Nope. That’s why it’s great. And, it’s based on real people/real events. I sobbed hysterically at the end, but I’m also a huge sap. Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday is perfection. I love love love him.
Here’s the plot summary: Wyatt Earp (Kurt Russell) and his brothers, Morgan (Bill Paxton) and Virgil (Sam Elliott), have left their gunslinger ways behind them to settle down and start a business in the town of Tombstone, Ariz. While they aren't looking to find trouble, trouble soon finds them when they become targets of the ruthless Cowboy gang. Now, together with Wyatt's best friend, Doc Holliday (Val Kilmer), the brothers pick up their guns once more to restore order to a lawless land.
Quotes:
“I’m your huckleberry.”
“Why, Johnny Ringo, you look like somebody just walked over your grave.”
“You gonna do somethin’ or just stand there and bleed?”
2. Fight Club (1999)
Tumblr media
Okay. Okay. I just watched this one, too, and let me tell you. If you haven’t seen it/haven’t been spoiled for it, you have no idea what it’s really about. Honestly. It’s so fuckin’ weird and it blew my mind which is something I thought only M. Night Shyamalan could do. Wow, just. . . wow. Watch it, I implore you. I think everyone essentially knows the basic plot, but here it is if you want it, straight from google:
A depressed man (Edward Norton) suffering from insomnia meets a strange soap salesman named Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) and soon finds himself living in his squalid house after his perfect apartment is destroyed. The two bored men form an underground club with strict rules and fight other men who are fed up with their mundane lives. Their perfect partnership frays when Marla (Helena Bonham Carter), a fellow support group crasher, attracts Tyler's attention.
Quotes:
“You met me at a very strange time in my life.”
“The things you own end up owning you.”
“It’s only after we’ve lost everything that we’re free to do anything.”
3. Unbreakable (2000)
Tumblr media
Speaking of M. Night Shyamalan. While every one of his movies I’ve seen (Split, Glass, Lady in the Water, The Visit) have all been fantastic and mind-blowing, Unbreakable still has my favourite premise and my favourite Shyamalan twist ending. I love this one, even though I don’t really care for Bruce Willis.
Plot summary: A security guard, having been the sole survivor of a high-fatality train crash, finds himself at the centre of a mysterious theory that explains his consistent physical good fortune. When news of his survival is made public, a man whose own body is excessively weak tracks him down in an attempt to explain his unique unbreakable nature.
Quotes:
“Do you know what the scariest thing is? To not know your place in this world. To not know why you’re here.”
4. This is the End (2013)
Tumblr media
Seth Rogen. Jay Baruchel. James Franco. Jonah Hill. Danny McBride. Craig Robinson. Playing themselves. The apocalypse. Hilarity ensues. Cameos from Emma Watson, Kevin Hart, Michael Cera, Rihanna, Paul Rudd, Channing Tatum, Aziz Ansari, Jason Segel, Mindy Kaling, and the Backstreet Boys. It’s so funny, I absolutely love it.
Plot summary: In Hollywood, actor James Franco is throwing a party with a slew of celebrity pals. Among those in attendance are his buddies Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson. Suddenly, an apocalypse of biblical proportions erupts, causing untold carnage among Tinseltown's elite and trapping Franco's party in his home. As the world they knew disintegrates outside, cabin fever and dwindling supplies threaten to tear the six friends apart.
Quotes:
“I don’t want to die at James Franco’s house.”
“Oh, no, no, no. I’m drinking and smoking weed. I’m on a cleanse, I’m not psychotic.”
“Take it easy, Dumbledore.”
5. You’ve Got Mail (1998)
Tumblr media
Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. This might be my favourite romantic comedy, and I watch a lot. They’re adorable, and Meg Ryan is everything. This one made me cry twice. Once from sadness, once from happiness. Also it has Dave Chappelle in it, who I absolutely love.
Plot summary: Struggling boutique bookseller Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan) hates Joe Fox (Tom Hanks), the owner of a corporate Foxbooks chain store that just moved in across the street. When they meet online, however, they begin an intense and anonymous Internet romance, oblivious of each other's true identity. Eventually Joe learns that the enchanting woman he's involved with is actually his business rival. He must now struggle to reconcile his real-life dislike for her with the cyber love he's come to feel.
Quotes:
“There’s the dream of someone else.”
“But I just wanted to say that all this nothing has meant more to me than so many somethings.”
“I love daisies. They’re so friendly. Don’t you think daisies are the friendliest flower?”
6. A Hard Day’s Night (1964)
Tumblr media
For anyone who loves The Beatles. Here they play themselves, and show what their lives are like. It’s ridiculous and hilarious and god, if I didn’t love them before I loved them dearly after watching. It’s such a fun, easy watch and I adore it.
Plot summary: Over two "typical" days in the life of The Beatles, the boys struggle to keep themselves and Sir Paul McCartney's mischievous grandfather in check while preparing for a live television performance.
Quotes:
“How did you find America?” “Turned left at Greenland.”
“Hey mister can we have our ball back!”
“You’re a swine.”
7. Dazed and Confused (1993)
Tumblr media
My favourite movie to watch at the beginning and end of the school year, and let’s be honest, every month in between. I’ve seen this movie more times than I can say. I love the ‘70’s setting, the actors, the plot. Another wonderful, easy watch that just makes me happy. Killer soundtrack, too.
Plot summary: The adventures of high school and junior high students on the last day of school in May 1976.
Quotes:
“You just gotta keep livin’, man. L-i-v-i-n.”
“It’d be a lot cooler if you did.”
“I just wanna look back and say that I did it the best that I could while I was stuck in this place.”
“I’d like to quit thinking of the present, like right now, is some minor, insignificant preamble to somethin’ else.”
8. Dirty Dancing (1987)
Tumblr media
Anything with Patrick Swayze is wonderful, and this is no exception. Johnny and Baby are perfect. This movie also has the best soundtrack of any movie I’ve ever watched. Fantastic love story, fantastic movie. Watch it.
Plot summary: Baby (Jennifer Grey) is one listless summer away from the Peace Corps. Hoping to enjoy her youth while it lasts, she's disappointed when her summer plans deposit her at a sleepy resort in the Catskills with her parents. Her luck turns around, however, when the resort's dance instructor, Johnny (Patrick Swayze), enlists Baby as his new partner, and the two fall in love. Baby's father forbids her from seeing Johnny, but she's determined to help him perform the last big dance of the summer.
Quotes:
“Nobody puts Baby in a corner.”
“Fight harder, huh? I don’t see you fighting so hard, Baby. I don’t see you running up to daddy telling him I’m your guy.”
“You’re right, Johnny. You can’t win no matter what you do.”
“Go back to your playpen, Baby.”
9. The Sound of Music (1965)
Tumblr media
This is such a beautiful movie, and I love it so much. My mom and I try to watch it every Christmas as our little tradition. Julie Andrews as Maria is so wonderful, and all of the songs are so, so good. I love all of the children dearly, and oh, do I love Captain VonTrapp.
Plot summary: A tuneful, heartwarming story, it is based on the real life story of the Von Trapp Family singers, one of the world's best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II. Julie Andrews plays the role of Maria, the tomboyish postulant at an Austrian abbey who becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children, and brings a new love of life and music into the home.
Quotes:
“You cry a little, and then you wait for the sun to come out. It always does.”
“God bless Louisa, Brigitta, Marta, and little Gretl. Oh, I forgot the other boy. What’s his name? Well, god bless what’s-his-name.”
“I want you to stay. I ask you to stay.”
10. Gladiator (2000)
Tumblr media
“Are you not entertained?” I think everyone has heard that line, from this amazing movie. One of the many that has made me cry, it’s such a beautiful story. Also, gladiators. That immediately sells it for me. All of the performances by the actors are top notch as well.
Plot summary: Set in Roman times, the story of a once-powerful general forced to become a common gladiator. The emperor's son is enraged when he is passed over as heir in favour of his father's favourite general. He kills his father and arranges the murder of the general's family, and the general is sold into slavery to be trained as a gladiator - but his subsequent popularity in the arena threatens the throne.
Quotes:
“My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius. Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, and loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance. In this life or the next.”
“What we do in life echoes in eternity.”
“Falling down is how we grow. Staying down is how we die.”
Something a Demon Would Say by EAST (WESTAGE)
Summary: Ryan wants to prove that Shane is a demon, and/or an alien, and Shane just wants to ask Ryan out on a date.
“The jig is up, Shane Madej! I know what you really are!”
Rated: G
Commentary: This fic has one of my favorite endings of all time. It’s fun and funny, and characterization is wonderful. Also, Shane has a not-so-secret crush on Ryan and it’s adorable.
i wanna see the sunrise and your sins by AmazingAida
Summary: ryan goes into heat while filming and shane is, thankfully, there to help.
also ryan and shane come face to face with their true feelings and it’s very confusing.
or, alternatively: in which shane and ryan have sex for one reason that ends up being a completely different implicit reason.
or, alternatively: feelings are confusing just don’t have them.
Rated: E
Commentary: Pure, fluffy PWP, if that’s you think– the only reason I don’t cherish as much this fic is because it is a cheating fanfic. And while they don’t cheat on their real life girlfriends in the fic, Ryan still has a partner and I just... don’t. But other than that, this is very sweeet and hot.
Mausoleum by ghostwheeze
Summary: How about…. Ryan and Shane are stuck in a room for some reason (Maybe the doorknob broke off…?) And Ryan is absolutely terrified. The sexual tension has been high between the two for a while and so Shane decides… fuck it, and does something to distract Ryan ;)
Rated: T
Commentary: This fic has something... something tht makes me love it. It’s so good and hot, even if they are just--- not doing it, and yeeeeet. I ove it.
SLEEPINGWITHAFRIEND by grapefruitghostie
Summary: it’s a risk but, babe, i need the thrillor; the author just wants to cry
Rated: E
Commentary: Alright, this one is kinky. In this story, Shane and Ryan also have a dom/sub relationship, with Shane being Ryan’s dom, and it also has– you guessed it right, daddy kink. I love it.
he is the one named sailor moon by schuyleryette
Summary: Ryan Bergara was just your regular college student trying to deal with classes, an asshole roommate, and one of the most insufferable jerks he had ever met. None of this prepared him for the talking cat who change the course of his destiny…
Rated: T
Commentary: Another big, but nice, surprise in the tag was to find a damn Sailor Moon AU. Look– I grew up watching this anime and this was the first manga I read, and I also probably became a little bit gay because of Michiru (and her wife Haruka), so this AU is everything to me.
That, and the fact that is. so. much. fun. Honestly, give Ryan a break– he had one weird night in this fic. It’s great, you all should read it.
satisfaction brought it back by ElasticElla
Summary: A true crime case turns supernatural, and Ryan gets a little too curious about Shane’s fanfiction references.
Rated: M
Commentary: Listen, Ryan’s curiosity in this fic is everything to me. I felt all the second hand embarrasment in the world while reading him go through smutty fanfics as Shane slept in the same room as him, getting hot at fanfic!Shane saying that “you are mine” and stuff like that. It was amazing.
Danse Macabre by americanchemicals
Summary: On your thirteenth birthday, a mark would appear on your body, a mark that only one other person in the world had. These matching marks, or soulmarks, were a physical connection between two soulmates.
Rated: G
Commentary: THEY GET– AT THE END THEY– DUDE, JUST READ IT. The ending of this, the climax of this fic, had me shook and It made me happy. Lovely fic.
and i’m puffing my chest, getting red in the face by pissedofsandwich
Summary: "Zack’s going to be there?“ Shane asks, masking his… whatever it is he’s feeling in his chest, with nonchalance.
Ryan blinks. “Yes?”
Well, never mind dancing with the fucking sun. He’s Icarus, wings melted and falling face-first into the asphalt.
Or: Shane is definitely not at all jealous of how close Zack and Ryan are getting during the making of Sports Conspiracies. Except that he is.
Rated: T
Commentary: One of my favorite fanfics that also has jealous!Shane and one of the most funniest climax ever. All their co-workers are damn angels, you gotta read this, it’s incredible. Also, kudos to poor Zack having the rage of a jealous Shane Alexander Madej with a cup of coffee in his hands.
Blood Buddies (with benefits) by Squeakyshroom
Summary: Ryan thought they were just friends, but one night and one bite has him questioning everything.
OR: Shane’s a fledgling vampire. Ryan’s an idiot.
Rated: E
Commentary: I’ve read a total of 16 times since it was posted a few weeks ago, lmao. Look– this author? I love her. She is one of the first people I talked to while doing the project, she kinda got me into talking to other authors and that helped me a lot to get through the reading happily.
She has a very unique style and the way she writes their dynamic is something else. This fanfic in particular is a lot of fun, and I hate the fact that I know one and every damn Twilight reference in it.
It also has one of my favorite mental images/scenes in a fanfic ever. If you guess which one is, come tell me about it, lmao.
give me all your poison by ElasticElla
Summary: Shane catches Ryan red-handed. Or well, red-shirted and fuck, this is not the romantic reunion he envisioned when deciding to surprise Ryan.
Rated: E
Commentary: AHHHHH, I LOVE THIS ONE. It inspired a whole series in which both are killers that you should totally read, too: the serial killer ryan quartet. This fic has… a scene I really like. If you get which one, I’ll love you forever. I’m so glad I read and commented this fic, because my comment helped inspire the rest of it.
distorted truths by hwsinbs
Summary: All of Shane’s entourage is convinced that his boyfriend is a ghost. Ryan takes it a little too well (and Shane wishes it was a real ghost).
Rated: G
Commentary: LMAO, this fic. Look– Ryan has to say a little lie and it becomes this big thing… he can’t even breathe properly after it. It’s incredibly fun, I enjoyed reading it a lot.
Very drunk.
The room was spinning slightly, making it hard to focus on anything in the room or any one thought, the anxious dread he’d had building in his gut since Keith’s disappearance only getting worse and less tolerable with the alcohol in his system.
After a long pause, Shane finally continued, “I’m not human.”
“What?” Ryan whispered. His eyebrows furrowed.
“Well, I was human, then—and then I died.” Ryan stared. Shane realized he was making no sense. He sighed, “Okay, listen. I am an angel.” Shane glanced at Ryan, trying to see his reaction but he saw no expression on his face. “I was sent on Earth to, uh, complete some mission.”
waiting here for catastrophe by anarchetypal
Summary: “Ryan.” Shane breaks off and sits down again, slides his chair closer to Ryan’s, stares him down. “God, fuck, look at me, okay, I did this. I did this, this is my case, this is mine, everything you’re talking about—”
Ryan can’t help it: he laughs. It comes out a little anxiously, but it’s a laugh all the same, because Shane can’t really expect him to buy into this, right?
And Shane looks—well, murderous is either the wrong word or the right one.
“I’m not kidding.”
“You really want me to believe—”
“You entertain all possible theories, right?” Shane says, exasperated and angry, and Ryan notices it’s the first time he’s ever said that seriously. “That’s what this stupid show is—that’s what you do.So entertain this one.”
All at once, it stops being funny. Something the size of a golf ball seems to lodge itself high in Ryan’s throat. He realizes it’s alarm, fear, a caged bird thrashing against the bars inside himself. He’s waiting for Shane to break, to burst into laughter, to say it’s all a stupid joke, but it doesn’t happen.
“What the fuck,” he croaks out.
Rated: M
Commentary: Serial Killer Shane. In this one, Shane is offended that Ryan thinks he is an amateour in the Art of Killing, and also does the horrible, terrible pun of “Cereal Killer” as he eats Ryan’s cereal. It’s fantastic.
Commentary: Genderswap AU. I never thought I would read one of these over here, but you guys always manage to surprise me in the best ways. This fic is everything. I’m conflicted because Shane reminds me of my crush in the city, who absolutely broke my heart, but man-- this fic is good.
"...No."
aka shane is bold enough to touch ryan, but not bold enough to admit it.
Rated: T
Commentary: Man, this fic. It’s a lot of fun to read and it has something-- the tease of them being together, I guess. It has a great ending, but seriously all that part about the ghost wanting to feel up Ryan, Jesus fucking Christ-- that’s great.
Not Safe For Work by doctorkaitlyn
Summary: Of all the many, many meetings Ryan has had to sit through since becoming a full-fledged Buzzfeed employee, this one is probably the most painful, for exactly three reasons.
1) It's not even eight thirty yet, and his coffee has yet to kick in and wake him up.
2) Zack is on his left watching a muted stream of last night’s Warriors and Lakers game, which is nearly impossible to look away from.
3) Shane is on his right, and one of his huge hands has been planted just above Ryan’s knee almost from the moment he first sat down.
(Or, having sex in a sound booth during work hours probably isn't appropriate workplace conduct, even for Buzzfeed, but that doesn't stop Ryan and Shane.)
Rated: E
Commentary: Listen, these men are killing me and in this fic? Holy shit Shane is a smooth son of a bitch and I love him. And also, Ryan, dear-- wow.
Unconventional by InkStainsOnMyHands
Or
Shane and Ryan take an unconventional path to parenthood.
Rated: E
Commentary: Trans!Shane. This is one of my favorite fics in the fandom. I just love it, the whole of it, and it explores parenthood for transmen. The author is trans himself and a wonderful person, so they know what they are talking about and I just– he is the author I respect the most right now.
The Federation united all of South America under one banner, and devoured everything in its path as it moved relentlessly to the north. After turning ODIN against us, the Federation stood on the doorstep of America, poised for the kill.
If only he knew there was one right next to him.
Rated: T
Chapters: 8/8
Commentary: I will be forever in love with this fic and that one chapter when we got Ryan’s POV and we saw how he came into an understanding of who Shane is, and then-- he found out the truth. This is an mazing fic, a classic in the fandom, and you HAVE to read it.
Oblivion by InkStainsOnMyHands
Summary: Tragic consequences typically follow when a god falls in love with a human. Typically...
Based on the comment:"My theory is that Shane is the devil and was just super bored. Then one day he chanced upon a poor scared Ryan and thought “this is pretty fun” and now follows him to supernatural sights to have a giggle at his expense. But that’s also why they never capture anything on video, because the evil spirits and demons know Shane for who he really is and are too afraid to mess with him."
Rated: E
Chapters: 3/3
Commentary: One of the best AUs out there. Since the beginning, it traps you into the narrative and the way Shane is characterized. The story between him and Ryan is beautiful, this is literally soulmates without it being an AU, they are damn mean to be. This fic is the literal meaning of eternal love.
The Great Heist Of Shane Madej by Cat (ActualBuckyBarnes)
Summary: Have you ever wanted to run away?
A story about being lost, and then being found again.
You're Just What I Needed by doctorkaitlyn
Summary: In which Ryan and Shane first meet (and make out) at a party on the final day of the semester, officially fall for each other over the course of a summer spent two thousand miles apart, and then make out some more, all while having spirited debates about ghosts, cryptids, and whether or not Medieval Times is awesome.
(Spoiler alert: they agree to disagree on all of the above.)
Rated: T
Chapters: 3/3
Commentary: This fic is lovely and warm, I love the way their relationship starts and how it develops as the chapters keep going. It’s a lot of fun to read.
The Ghost Of You Is Close To Me by skepticseptic
Summary: Character A is a spirit medium that has the ability to see and communicate with spirits – the problem with this is that Character A has started to develop a crush on Character B, one of the friendlier spirits that comes to visit Character A.
Rated: T
Chapters: 2/2
Commentary: While this may not have a proper happy ending, I still think it’s happy and sweet. Ghost Shane is… adorable. You’ll see.
Don’t Want it Troubling Your Mind by Crimsonflowerz
Summary: Shane Madej really liked Ryan Bergara. He was funny, a joy to mess with, and took his brand of teasing pretty well. He would consider him a friend, kind of. But when the team goes to investigate the Franklin Castle for ghosts, Shane gets more than he bargained for, and the results could cost him his friendship with Ryan.
Rated: T
Chapters: 7/7
Commentary: One thing that makes this fic so original in its own is the fact that it has such a… charming demon. Anael is fuckig funny, he a bitch-- but so funny. He is evil and you hate him for doing all he does to Shane, the way he plays with his mind, and the three final chapters are just– horrible. But yeah, this fic.. it’s gooood. Also, ace!Shane.
Office Space by skepticalghouligan
Summary: The construction really was only supposed to take a few weeks on Ryan’s office. And it would have - it was a simple expansion and paint job. That was, until Shane Madej got brought onto the project. It only took two days (and three near misses) for Ryan to believe Shane may be trying to kill him. But could it be something else?
Rated: E
Chapters: 19/19
Commentary: Like I said before, this author is one of my favorites and in part it’s because of how well planned and build his fics are. This wonderful story is such a funny yet deep AU I love with all I am.
Hey, nude by y00ti
Summary: Shane drunkenly tries to send a nude to some guy he met on tinder. It doesn’t go as planned.
Rated: Not Rated (I would say T)
Chapters: 3/3
Commentary: I had so much fun reading this fic. I first read it here on tumblr and soon the author posted it on AO3 and it’s glorious. All the pining and the sexual tension... You will laugh a lot.
The Department of Unsolved Cases by trailsofpaper (Sanwall)
Summary:  Ryan Bergara hasn’t been an FBI agent for long, but he’s seen enough inexplicable things during his career to know there’s more to the world than meets the eye. He comes up against the stubbornly skeptic Shane Madej, head of the Unsolved Cases department - the basement where low-priority cases go to die.
The case of possible alien abductions and UFO sightings become top-priority very soon however, and Ryan starts to think that maybe Shane has a reason for wanting to stay on the Unsolved Cases even though he used to have a very promising FBI career in front of him.
Come to think of it, maybe Ryan also has his reasons for wanting to stay by Shane’s side even when things get rocky.
Rated: M
Chapters: 10/10
Commentary: I’m on chapter three of this one, and so far, so good. It’s a great adaptation of The X Files and the boys characterization is very good. I’m liking it a lot…
Lost Buttons by Trash4bears
Summary: They have somewhat platonic sex in a haunted place it's as simple as that
Rated: E
Chapters: 3/3
Commentary: There’s nothing platonic about this fanfic, lmao. It’s hot, super dirty, but hot. Chapter three has some of the best positions I’ve read ina while. And dialogues are amazing.
Maelstrom by thewindupbird
Summary: Here’s the thing about driving halfway across the country to see someone. You can’t really deny, after that, that you’re pretty much head over heels for them.
Rated: E
Chapters: 11/11 (complete)
Commentary: Again, I haven’t finished this fic but everyone loves it and I trust the fandom’s good taste. Beides, I read the series before this fic, and they are amazing. I can’t wait to have time and read this; but so far (chapter 4), it’s really good. I aspire to be this good.
Finn Balor - Request 1
Request: Heeyyy girllll so I just wanted to say a few things and I'm sorry if I just came out of the blue. First of all your writing is amazing so you deserve the writing spot in wwe bc that dean ambrose fic is now my fave bc it was so cute ☺️ and if I can I would like to request a story with Finn balor where you guys have a young child and they have a nerf gun war ending badly??? Cute and funny with a tad bit of angst . Sorry if it's weird
Paring: Finn Balor/Reader
Y/N - Your Name //  Y/S/N - Your Son’s name
I woke up to the feel of something hitting me, opening my eye only to be hit in the face again.
“What in the…” I sat up to see my son shooting both Finn and I with a two nerf guns in hand.
Tumblr media
With a laugh, i nudged Finn who slept like a dead man.
Finn rubbed his eyes, leaning up on his elbows slowly realizing what was happening before he started laughing.
“There's the birthday boy!” Finn smiled sitting up in bed.
Today was Y/S/N’s 4th birthday and each year after he went to bed the night before, we’d leave one present in the room for him to wake up to then he’d get the rest later in the day.
This year, my amazingly thoughtful husband decided our son was old enough for a nerf gun without any consideration of how extremely annoying it would be for the rest of us.
“Daddy, daddy - play with me!” Y/S/N yelled in excitement as he tossed the second gun onto Finn.
Unfortunately, our baby also had no sense in aim and it landed right on his groin. Finn toppled over in pain but the kid was already running out of the room and I couldn’t help but laugh.
“You find this funny do yah?” He grunted as he cupped himself.
“I’m just adoring the fact that I was right.” With a laugh, I leaned in to give him a kiss before getting out of bed to throw on a robe.
“You’re not right!” He protested as his lips curled into a smile unable to keep from laughing.
Tumblr media
“I’ll make breakfast.” I laughed, brushing him off as he ran out of the room in his boxers to chase after our little brown eyed boy.
After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I headed downstairs into the kitchen, pulling out everything I needed to make pancakes and played some music off my phone. Seeing as it was only 7 in the morning, the birthday party wouldn’t be for hours giving me plenty of time to set up later.
The sound of two sets of footsteps could be heard all throughout the house and I smiled to myself watching them come down the stairs, shooting mercilessly at each other while they laughed.
It really was so heartwarming to see. Finn was on the road a lot and he was always tired but he never let it show when it came to anything our son and I wanted to do.
I danced around to the music, mixing the batter when suddenly I was covered in batter when an array of nerf bullets shot into my mixing bowl.
Tumblr media
“Finn! Y/S/N!” I yelled but I couldn't help but laugh when they both attacked me with kisses, as apology.
“Sorry mama!” They said simultaneously as Finn kissed my cheek and head while Y/S/N kissed my hip and stomach.
“I married a child.” I laughed to myself as I grabbed a towel to wipe myself off while they ran off shooting at each other again.
Suddenly a high pitched squeal can't from the back stairs.
“Shit.” I heard Finn’s voice followed by our son crying. “Y/N!”
I immediately stopped everything and ran towards the sound of the crying to be met by blood on the stairs and Finn holding our son.
“What the hell happened?!” I asked, cupping the baby’s face to find the source of the blood. He had a rather large cut on the bottom of his chin and I looked at Finn demanding an answer.
“He tripped on the stairs and hit his chin, i think he needs stitches.” Finn said taking a closer look.
“I told you he wasn’t ready for a nerf gun!” I hit Finn in the arm before walking into the bathroom to grab a towel and covering the baby’s gash. “Now we have to take him to the hospital, on his birthday nonetheless!”
“He’ll be okay, it’s just a small cut.” He returned trying to sooth the crying child. “Right buddy?”
Tumblr media
I shot him and evil look and we rushed to change into clothes before strapping him in the car with me in the backseat still holding the towel on his chin while Finn rushed us to the hospital.
In the emergency room we checked him in and were quickly ushered into the back. The boy hadn’t stopped crying and I hadn’t stopped fuming at Finn.
“Hey, these things happen babe. He’s a kid.” He tried before pressing a kiss on my head.
“I know he’s a kid, that doesn’t mean he should be almost dying at every turn!”
Finn laughed and ruffled the baby’s hair. “He didn’t almost die, he just learned a lesson about running up stairs, right bugger?”
Teary eyed, the baby nodded and Finn shot us both a smile. Soon the doctor came in and I held Y/S/N while they gave him a total of 4 stitches underneath his chin. To my surprise he didn’t cry or scream out, he just braved it all. After the doctor was finished, he gave our son a sticker and a high-five before stepping out to review aftercare with Finn.
“Look at you.” I smiled down at the baby. “You were so brave.”
Tumblr media
“Good job, bud!” Finn smiled as he walked back in and gave him a high five. Now you’re just like mommy and daddy! Look.” He said lifting his chin to show his and I lifted my head to do the same.
Finn had gotten his while wrestling of course while I had gotten my scar from being a clumsy child just like Y/S/N. I guess I was a little harsh on Finn. These things happen all the time.
“Yup, now you’re officially part of the club.” I joked, kissing his head.
After checking him out, we strapped him in the backseat again while Finn and I sat up front on the drive home.
“I’m sorry about freaking out.” I said quietly.
Finn looked over at me, taking my hand in his to lace our fingers together as he drove. “Don’t worry about it, I like when you get into mama-bear mode.”
With a small laugh, i brought his hand up to my lips to press a kiss against it. “I love you.”
“Love you too baby.” He smiled before looking in the rear-view at the baby. “Now - who’s ready for their birthday party?” “Meeee!” Y/S/N yelled excitedly from the back.
*Gifs not mine!
I hope you enjoyed, and as always - let me know if you have a request!
Old Friends Chapter 34 A Relaxing Birthday
It was late October and we had a little less then two months till we were going to be married. We pretty much had all the details worked out. I was glad about that. But now we had something else to celebrate. It was Seth's birthday. Seth was all about not having a big party like he had in the past. I didn't understand it. But I wasn't going to let him not celebrate his birthday. So, I had a plan. I was making breakfast the morning of his birthday as the older two were already at school and he came down, as he inhaled in. "What is the wonderful smell?"
"I made your favorite." I smiled.
His eyes lit up. "Oh, chocolate chip pancakes."
My smile got bigger. "Yes, baby. Now sit."
He saw Frank in his high chair and said, "Morning, buddy."
He gave Frank a kiss on the top of his head then moved to the counter. He sat there as I got his plate together and placed it in front of him. I went to move away from him and he grabbed my hand. He pulled me to him and wrapped his arms around me. "You are amazing, baby."
I smiled at him. "Only the best for you." I gave him a quick peck then said, "And happy birthday, sexy."
He smiled as I moved away and went back to the stove. I finished and made my plate. He was already eating as I sat next to him. I said, plainly, "So, don't make any plans today as I already have for you."
He stopped eating and looked at me, displeased. "What plans?"
"Well, I thought we would relax most of the day and then tonight, your dad is coming over to watch Frank and the kids and you and I are going out." I told him.
He smiled at this. "I think I can handle that." He went back to his food and added, "I thought you had something else planned."
He didn't see it but I smirked as I did. Then he finished and moved to put his plate in the dishwasher. "So, what are the plans today before dinner?"
I finished my last bit and moved over to him. I also put my plate away in the dishwasher. I stood up as I looked at him. "I thought you would enjoy a lazy day as you don't get many of those."
He grinned and moved closer to me. "Anything else?"
I knew what he was doing and didn't react. I just shrugged and said, plainly, "Nope."
I walked away and I smiled again. I knew that wasn't the answer he was hoping for but I decided to have some fun with him. I picked up Frank and moved to the living room. Seth followed and frowned. He sat down on the couch as I moved to the floor and played with Frank. After some time, I noticed Seth pouting on the couch. I busted out laughing. He eyed me. "What is so funny?"
"You. You are acting as if you are Franks age. You didn't get your way so have to pout about it." I said in laughter.
He huffed and turned on the TV. After some time, I noticed Frank was getting tired. I looked at the time and it was his nap time. I got up and grabbed him. I moved him to the his bed and laid him down. I walked out and went to our bedroom real quick to grabbed the baby monitor. Then I moved downstairs and saw Seth still on the couch, paying no mind to me. He was sulking. I smiled at this and moved to the floor. I just laid down as it did feel good cause it was cooler and was good on my back which was already sore. I laid on my back and moaned slightly. I had my eyes closed. I felt someone move over me and I smiled. "What are you doing?"
He moved one of his hands to the side of my neck and moved his lips to the other side. He said against my neck, "Opening my first gift."
He began to kiss my neck as I bit my bottom lip. Then he found my sweet spot and I moaned slightly. I moved my hands to his back and gripped his shirt. I pulled him to me. I loved playing hard to get as I loved what it did to him. He became more frisky and just takes what he wants then. I loved it. He moved his lips to mine and kissed me deeply. I moaned in his lips. Just then the doorbell rang. He broke the kiss and looked towards the other side of the house where the door was at. "You have got to be kidding." He breathed.
I smiled. I looked at him and said, "Go answer that."
He looked at me, wide eyed. "I am pitching a tent!" He almost exclaimed.
I laughed at this. I pushed him and said, "Go."
He groaned then moved off of me. He stood up and adjusted himself, which I had to laugh at. He frowned and rolled his eyes. He went to the door as I moved off the ground and stood up. I walked over to watch and Seth said right before he answered, "Someone better be seriously injuried or dead."
I just chuckled. He opened the door to see a delivery guy on the other side. He looked shocked and said, "Holy shit, it's really you. I seriously thought this was someone pulling my leg. I am like a huge fan."
I am laughing now as Seth looked annoyed. Seth said, "Thanks, man. Is there something I can help you with?"
"Uh, yeah. I have a delivery for you." He held out a hanger with a suit bag cover and a card attached to it.
Seth looked confused. "I didn't order anything."
I smiled as I said to him from behind him. "You didn't. I did."
He looked back at me as he seemed confused. "What is this?"
"You have to find out, baby." I smiled at him.
He turned back to the delivery guy and took it from him. Then the delivery guy asked, "Can I get a picture with you?"
"Uh." Seth seemed unsure. I knew he was use to it outside, in public, but I think at home, it was new to him. "Sure."
The guy held his phone to me. "Can you take our picture?"
I walked over and took the phone. "Yeah."
I held it up and took a couple pictures. I then gave it back to him and he said, "Thank you so much. Man, this job is awesome."
I laughed, slightly. Then he looked at me and asked Seth, "Is that your girl?"
Seth smiled at this and beamed, "Yeah, she is."
"Man, you are one lucky dude. She is smokin." He said to Seth.
I blushed and Seth laughed at it. "Yeah, that she is." Then looked at him. "And trust me, I know how lucky I am." He smiled, widely. Again my cheeks got flushed. "Okay, thank you."
"Oh, yeah. No problem, man. And thanks for the picture." The delivery man said, happily.
He walked away and Seth closed the door. "Well, that was interesting." He almost laughed.
I smiled. "At least he was a fan."
"That is true." He said to me.
He moved over to me and hung up the suit bag nearby. He moved his arms around me and moved in as he said with a grin, "So, where were we?"
I stopped him by pushing on his chest and smiled at him. "Aren't you going to even look at your card?"
He looked at it. "Um." Then back at me as he shrugged. "It can wait."
He went to move in again and again I stopped him. "Seth." I said, more sternly.
He looked at me and sighed as he moved away from me. "Okay, I'll open it."
He walked over to it and took the card off. He opened the envelop and read it out loud, "Make yourself pretty. I plan on taking you out tonight and want you to look good."
He chuckled and opened the suit bag. He looked at the three piece and looked at me in shock, "Is this Armani?"
I just smiled and then Frank started to cry. I sighed and Seth groaned, "He barely napped."
"I know, baby. I think he has more teeth are coming in. He is quite fussy lately." I told him. "I'm going to get him and he can give you your present from him." I smiled.
"Oh, I get more." His eyebrow hitched.
I smiled and moved away. I went and got Frank as well as the wrapped present. I walked back downstairs and found Seth was now in the living room, sitting on the couch again. I walked in and handed Seth the present. I looked at Frank and said, "Say happy birthday, daddy."
Seth smiled as he took the box up and he looked at me. "Should I be worried."
I laughed. "Just shut up and open it."
He smiled at me and slowly unwrapped it. He now revealed a box and opened it. He looked at it and his eyes lit up. He looked up at me with a huge grin. "Baby, I don't know what to say."
He picked it up as I smiled. It was a canvas with a shoe imprint of one of Seth's shoe in blue and our son's footprint on top of it in red. It also had writing on it. Then he read what it said out loud.
"Walk a little slower, Daddy"
said a little child so small.
I'm following in your footsteps
and I don't want to fall.
Sometimes your steps are very fast
sometime they are hard to see
so walk a little slower, Daddy,
for you are leading me.
Someday when I am all grown up
you're what I want to be.
Then I will have a little child
who'll want to follow me.
And I will want to lead just right
and know that I am true.
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
for I must follow you!
He looked at me and smiled. I smiled back. "I know it isn't much."
"No, this is amazing, baby." He quickly said. He put the canvas in the box and looked over to me.  "It means more to me then you know. Cause it comes from the heart." He stood up and moved to us. He moved a hand on my hip and the other on the back of Frank's head. "Thank you, little man." He kissed the top of his head and looked at me. "Thank you, baby."
I smiled at him. "It was nothing, Seth. But I have to say, you seemed to like it a lot more then the suit." I was poking fun at him.
"Well, I can by a suit anytime but this is something more. It means more. That is why I love it cause it came from the heart." He said, sincerely. Then he moved away and picked it up again. "I'm going to hang this in my office."
I smiled at this as it was a big deal. He won many awards but never kept them out. But for him to show this off meant something. It warmed my heart that Seth loved it. He sat back on the couch and I moved to it. I sat next to him with Frank in my lap and he moved an arm around me. I moved close to him and looked up at him. "So, how is it so far?"
"What?" He asked almost confused.
"Your birthday." I said.
"Oh, so far, pretty damn good. I got you and the kids. I am ready for the other two to come home so I can have you all here. But so far, it's probably the best birthday." He said to me.
I smiled happily. "Well, it isn't over yet. I am pretty sure, you will love how the rest will go."
"Hey, if I get laid at this point, it will be the best birthday." He grinned.
I laughed. Then looked at him. "Well, it isn't over yet."
He moved in and gave me a small kiss. Frank started to make noises and we broke the kiss. I watched as Seth looked at Frank with a smile. I knew why this was a great birthday for him, cause he had us. I could tell even though he didn't say it, he felt so complete. I could see the happiness in his face.
OMG! I saw Homecoming last night and OMG!!!!!
The Marvel Gods have blessed us with this movie!!! I wasn’t disappointed once! Not once! And I’m going to tell you why, just under the cut because MAJOR SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT! But for those of you who also have seen it too please I would love to hear from you! I’m totally in for fan girling or whatever because this movie is awesome!
OMG!!! Where to begin?
So like first off the movie was so on point with Spider-Man in the comics, at least according to my bro, he’s the more comic nerd out of the two of us.
It was so awkward and funny and tear jerking it’s not even funny. I almost cried during this film it was so perfect! Tom Holland did an amazing job playing Peter and Ned made a perfect “Guy in the Chair”. Zendaya’s character wasn’t in it as much as I would like to see, but they without a doubt left it so that by the next movie her character will be broadened on in my opinion, but what we did see of her was hysterical! She still had a little feminine bite to her, but in a calm laid back “I don’t give a shit” attitude that was perfect for her in my opinion. May, God bless May Parker. While again we didn’t see much of May, her character was so involved still. You can see how much she loves Peter and cares for him-and how much the rest of Queens loves her-she was the steady beat in the back of Peter’s mind.
Oh! We see him two months after CW, and he’s board and helping solve petty crime, like bike thieves but when he can’t find the owner he leaves a note. The rest of Queens loves both Peter and Spider-Man and let me tell you the kids a smartass it’s amazing!
This movie had more dirty jokes than I was prepared for and it had me laughing the entire time! While simultaneously wanting to punch the mean kid. They kept calling him Penis Parker. LEAVE THE PRECIOUS BABY ALONE! And among other things that have a lot to do with May. She gets hit on a lot in this movie and she doesn’t even notice a majority of the time until Peter says something.
The relationship between Peter and Ned is what we all should strive for. While Ned is 100% in on Peter being Spider-Man he still hesitates to turn off Peter’s training wheels protocol. Reminding him he still is a kid and well Ned was right, because it got Peter into trouble and we meet Karen! Who is like a combo of JARVIS and FRIDAY but with an American accent and Peter lets it slip about his crush on Liz and she’s trying to get him to confess his feelings throughout the movie and it’s hysterical! He also has a “Baby Monitor” in his suit and God bless Tony. Seriously.
Let’s talk Happy’s part in the movie. You can tell he’s not thrilled with babysitting duty and it kinda irked me till the end of the movie. But we see him come to really appreciate the kid after he practically saves Happy’s ass because he screwed up on Moving Day. Also Tony sold Avengers Tower.
Liz btw was great in this. You see while she clearly admires Spider-Man she has a thing for Peter. and it’s great. But more of that later.
Tony! OMG! We all saw the part where he takes the suit away, but what we don’t hear is Tony say “God I sound like my dad.” So clearly Howard did have some good parenting moments. Then after D.C. Tony calls Peter to congratulate him on saving those kids. Because his dad never told him he was proud and he wanted to make sure Peter knew Tony was proud of him, but it was so fatherly that I almost cried! He cares about what happens to Peter and it really makes the movie.
Vulture. Let me start off by saying it was not what I was expecting. He’s clearly doing this because he feels wronged and making and selling these weapons gives him income that he needs to support his family, but also as revenge. After his crew comes back to their base after getting into an altercation with Peter he takes a weapon off the work bench his buddy’s working on and shoots the guy and he dissolves into ash. He looks shocked and turns to his buddy saying “I thought this was the anti-gravity?” “No it’s over there.” He wasn’t intending on killing the guy that’s clear and it said something about his character. The guy he killed was the original Shocker. Then the guy he went with gets handed the torch so to speak and we meet the Shocker. His character has little screen time but it was made clear he’ll be back in the next instalment. More to come on the Vulture later.
Caps part in this film. OMG!!! Well first the principle is the grandson of a Howling Commando Morita you know the one from Fresno? But it’s hysterical because it’s the same actor. Anyways it explains the Cap videos and the gym teachers like “I’m pretty sure this guys an international fugitive now, but according to state law I have to show you this so…” So that solves that. BUT IN DETENTION! We see how in the previews Cap also has a detention video but by the time Peter’s left he’s giving the “So your body’s changing…” talk and I died! I literally died!
Okay now to the important part. This is after Peter gives back the suit and he asks Liz to the dance which me and my best friend, my mom my bro (the eldest) and his friend all look to my younger bro because he failed to ask the girl he likes to prom because he was convinced she doesn’t like him. Still is even after the girls brother said something to him after he asked. Like dude get it together. Well we see May getting excited and she’s helping him tie his tie and practice dancing and did I mention how much I love May Parker? Anyways she takes him and drops him off at Liz’s house and Peter walks up to the door and rings the bell and THE VULTURE! Yup he’s Liz’s DAD! I didn’t see that coming! And everyone was freaking out in the theater. And of course the Vulture has no idea Peter’s Spider-Man, but Peter knows he’s the Vulture and he’s panicking and their taking pictures and the Vultures trying to learn Peter’s name and he’s all smiles because he’s baby girls got a date and he’s like I like this Peter kid. And everyone’s dying in the theater and he’s like “I’m on my way out of town I’ll take you guys to the dance!” and Peter’s freaking out but they go and he’s sitting nervously in the back with Liz she’s on her phone and then she tells her dad Peter has an internship with Stark industries and Peter pales and tries brushing it off and tells her he lost it because he was trying to do too much at once, but it’s too late daddy dearest has already figured it out and he gives her a kiss goodbye and tells her he wants to give Peter the dad talk and she smiles tells Peter she’ll see him inside and he nods sweating. She leaves and Vulture pulls a gun and threatens him, asks if she knows which he doesn’t lie says she doesn’t which makes the man happy but of course we see him tell Peter if he does anything to break his family apart he’ll kill everyone he cares about. Well Peter goes inside and he’s scared out of his mind. See’s Liz and tells her he can’t and runs. Well Shocker finds him and they fight Ned gets involved and he tries getting ahold of Happy but Happy hangs up on him. Shit happens and Vulture buries Peter under a building. I had tears welling in my eyes at this point because we see him struggling to breath and he’s crying for help and you see blood and water and I look at my mom next to me like there’s blood! No, no, no! My eldest bro tells me excitedly that it’s from the comics that scene from the Spider-Man dies comic. It’s so heart wrenching, but we see him watch his reflection and then he hears Tony telling him “if he’s nothing without this suit…” and he gets out of it and goes to save the day. Long story short he brings down the plane and the Vulture is still trying to kill him and he spots a box of splinter bombs and goes to try and steeling them for a score instead and Peter sees his wings are about to blow and he’s yelling trying to warn the Vulture because no matter what he doesn’t want anyone to die and we see him explode and then Peter’s carrying him out of the fire and then leaves him and the weapons in a nice neat package for Happy.
Later we see him apologizing to Liz because of ditching her and her dad though she has no idea who Peter is and tells him its fine but she hopes he figures himself out. And then Happy and him have an awkward conversation in the bathroom before Happy tells him Tony wants to see him Upstate and we see the facility and Tony’s there and tells Peter’s he’s now an Avenger that is if he wants it. There’s a room next to Visions for him and a press conference waiting for him to suit up to meet the newest Avenger and Peter declines. Deciding he wants to be a kid a little while longer. Then he turns around and asks if this was a test to which Tony nods and Peter leaves and Happy’s like told you he was a good fit and then the doors open and a guys like their ready for you and there’s a shit tone of press and PEPPER!!!!! PEPPER WAS THERE!!!
I freaked out and was shaking my moms arm whisper yelling I was so excited!!! And Tony’s like well I guess we need to figure out something to give them and he looks to Pepper and Happy’s just like "Yes I’ve been carrying this thing around for eight years.“ And he pulls out an ENGAGMENT RING from his pocket!!!!! And both Pepper and Tony look at each other and their smiling and you could tell Pepper’s been waiting for it and she walks back inside with Tony following and Happy tosses him the ring and I was freaking out!!!!! I’M SO HAPPY!!!!! THIS MOVIE MADE ME SO HAPPY!
Anyways okay I thought that was the end and I was perfectly happy with that then we see Peter calling his Aunt May when h e gets back and I get this sense of dread, but then we see the bag on his bed from Tony with his suit and he’s like yes! And he’s putting it on and takes his face mask off and you hear the door creak open and May’s standing in the door way and all you see is her go "WHAT THE FU-!" and the credits roll and everyone’s dying of laughter.
And then the after credits come and this is what really shocked me, was we see Vulture walking through the halls of the prison and he runs into Shocker who says that word on the street is Vulture knows who Spider-Man really is and asks if he wants in. Vulture then says "If I knew who he was, he’d already be dead.” So i’m really interested to see what Marvel does with those two characters and to see what Vulture has in store.
Also the after, after credits scene you see Cap once more pull a Dead Pool, saying “You know what makes a good soldier and man? Patients.” His Chris was coming out. There isn’t one. And that’s because it’s in the movie. Look at Ned’s shirts! He’s wearing an ant and a wasp several times in the movie.
Anyways that’s what I loved about this movie the most. It was so well put together!!!! Please feel free to message me with questions or if you just want to talk about the movie I’d love to!
11 RANDOM FACTS ABOUT MY ASS
Okay ffffffffine. I was tagged by a couple of Roomfriends to complete one and I feel nothing but incredibly loved right now. I don't usually do these things but - this has been a fun one to get to know my buddies with so WHY NOT?! Honestly, this is not hard bc .... well, I'm weird. Bwahahaah!! I'm also not shy, especially when it comes to difficult conversations of confrontation. Buckle your seat belts. I'll try not to make it hardcore but all things are what make us , us , right?? I have enjoyed getting to know the fandom and feel like sharing, if it's with the right intentions, can only ever do good. Right? We'll see... Yeesh 😬 1) I'm a proud Lefty. It's cool functioning on the right side of our brains, in creativity and problem solving. It's not cool however when you have to dine at a large table or try to cut ... well, anything with a pair of scissors. I had a permanent pencil/ pen stain on my side palm for my entire school life. lol I assure you I am not from the devil. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard and I'm not particularly kind to those who have changed their children from left to right for these reasons. You'd be surprised how many, and how many ppl are AMAZED that you're a lefty. I swear it's about the equivalent of telling them you were a virgin. The wide eyes and gaps .. lol 2) I was an opera major in my undergrad. I say that as if I went on to get more degrees but I didn't hahaahaha. ( wait I can't stop laughing ) ..... Yes. I hold a Bachelors of Music in Vocal performance from Peabody Conservatory of Music of Johns Hopkins University @tuxedos-are-not-suits yup. No, I don't do it now. Funny thing about opera... you kind of have to like the city or traveling and if ur in just the chorus, it doesn't pay the bills. Insurance is also with the Union ... hrumph. I sing where I can, weddings, funerals, stage, and hold the occasional theater podcast or YouTube lessons (bwahaha, Roomfriends.) 3) I can't dive. I never learned. I found out the hard way had an eighth grade pool party with all the cool kids in my new hot two piece bikini, that placing both hands on your head in the manner of a shark fin and squatting to only then fall in the water ... is not diving. Feet first. Always. 4) I got to be the "surprise" witness in court to a man who was a notorious date-raper around campus and was counter suing his own victim for defamation of character. You should've seen the asshole's face when I showed up that day. Proud to tell the whole court and judge that I would've been one of his victims if I hadn't gotten away from him and called the campus shuttle to pick me up. I said "your honor, there is no counter sue needed as I was happy to tell everyone male and female months before this poor victim that he was dangerous, possibly mental, and to stay away from him." God that was an awesome day. I didn't tell my parents till 5 years later , for fear that my father would hunt him down and kill him 😂 5) I can talk through my nose. I don't think it's amazing but apparently everyone and their mother at a party does... lol I can say the ABCs and sing with my mouth closed. It's my stupid human trick. People love that shit for some reason... 6) I once lived with 3 guys in an apartment just like Jess. They weren't as cute , ( nor was I ) and ruined my furniture and left dishes rotting in the sink, ....but I look back on that experience and smile for the couple of mos it was a reality. Guys will do anything to protect and support the chick they live with. It's almost like a brother/sister thing. Maybe that is where my love for 4D comes from? 7) one night "my boys" went out drinking and left me at home alone. A man got into our apartment and then into my bedroom. He fired a gun behind my head to scare me and tied me up. He didn't hurt me but said he would if I screamed again. He took all my family heirloom jewelry ... and my trust in strangers. He made me lay on the bed on my stomach and left me to ransack the apartment. I made the decision to go over to my bedroom door close it and lock it in hopes that maybe if he came back to get me ...he would give up. The plastic phone that was on my bed was easy to get off the hook and I dialed 911 with my tongue. I subconsciously continued to recite the Lord's Prayer , even though I was not "saved" at the time. By the time the police had gotten there in about six of the longest minutes of my life, he was gone. The sound of the police radio was like heaven's choir singing to me. They then untied me and I dropped to my knees crying and the woman policeman told me to my face "we expected to find you dead." It's not pretty, and it took while to get over... but it makes me, me. 8) my two front teeth are veneers. yes. fake. I was born with the "Madonna" gap my mama had as well and I hated it. Almost every day I would try to place my white gum behind my two front teeth so I can make it look like they were too large teeth that went together seamlessly. When I was 15 and my mom was 40 something, we both got veneers, together. I will not disclose how many times I have cracked or chipped them, and on what foods. Let's just say I have the "teeth falling out dreams" all the time, and I don't have a great time in black lighted bars and clubs 😬 9) I was in an abusive marriage before I was reunited with my wonderful hubby. I didn't listen to the warning signs or tell myself the truth and went ahead with it, even though the first time he laid hands on me was 3 mos before the wedding. I was in a loveless and disrespectful marriage for 1.5 yrs. At the third time ( too many) I grabbed the dog and got the hell outta dodge ( or GA ). I keep some of the photos in a box in my closet, so I can tell my daughter about what every woman deserves and that we should always be honest with ourselves. She will always know and understand the true reasons you marry someone. Life isn't perfect, but it's makes me, me. 10) I say "reunited with my hubby" because kids, the fact is, my husband dated my best friend in college. I always thought he was the cutest and funniest and most caring boyfriend that she had ever dated, and when she broke his heart I thought she was friggin nuts. But God has a bigger plan. Nikki's suite mate in college asked her the first day why she had a picture of "Molly" on her desk and she said that's my best friend and the suitemate replied my mom works for her moms preschool. We were friends together for a long time. Fast forward to 10 years later when Nikki has 3 kids, Steph has two and I'm divorced and crying myself to sleep in the bathtub because all of my guy friends are married or short and bald, ....and my future hubbys mom moves ACROSS THE STREET from said Suitemate. She called me. I sped over and ... history was made. He's just as adorable today as he was when we were 19, and I adore him every day. We have two beautiful children ( a boy 3 and a girl 7 ) who are my world, and I thank God every day that fate revealed itself to me. 11) I was/AM a fierce daddy's girl. My father passed away when I was eight and a half months pregnant with my son. He had been sick with stage 4 lung cancer for 6 mos and in and out of the ICU. I watched him die on 9/29 and it was the most difficult and most beautiful thing I have ever witnessed in my entire life. I was able to tell him everything I loved about him and that I will miss him every day of my life. It's been 3 years and I still cry almost once a day. My son is named after him and I will take great pride in teaching him about the man that never got to hold him. I occasionally see him in dreams... but let's be honest, it's never enough. Hug your daddies if u have them on earth still... for me, pls. If you see me preaching about the dangers of smoking, get mad. I don't care. No one else needs to die this way. Especially not those I love. F it. Shit. That's all? I could go on and on ... lol mmkay 11 random facts. Done. Please still be my friend, k? I hope instead of tagging everyone again, some followers will just do it... yasssss do it. You know u want to, and you know you can't be as fucked up as me, right?!? so just go for it!!! Hahaaha PS I love my Roomfriends Love and Life, Molls
Watched GotG2. It was absolutely stellar.
The only parts I didnt like were the romantic Quill/Gamora parts... not that I dont like the ship. Just... you know how I am(?)
Man Yondu was excellent and an amazing thief... he managed to steal that entire movie and my heart. Seriously. He was my favorite part and shot up to one of my favorite movie characters of all time (OF ALL TIME). The relationship they managed to build with him and Rocket from NOTHING was amazing and his last scene with Quill was fucking HEART BREAKING. I cried a little(??) ‘He may have been your father boy but he wasnt your daddy!‘’I had a pretty cool dad.‘ IM GONNA CRY AGAIN. His loyal little buddy as well. He was a champ too.
I was a little nervous theyd overuse baby Groot (hed be... Grootuitous ;;;;;) ) BUT it was a fear unfounded. He too was an excellent scene stealer. His relationship with the team is adorable (and the end credit scene with him was HILARIOUS).
AS WAS NEBULA! My goodness. I love her and Gamora. 'Youre the one who wanted a win all I wanted was a sister!' HEART BREAK. I was scared they were gonna kill her in the movie but she walked away (AFTER A HUG!!!!!!!)
Mantis was a charming little angel throughout the movie. I wasnt so sure of her at first but her interactions with Drax made her incredibly endearing and she was just so sweet. That scene with Drax holding her up really hits ya after you see them get so close. Drax was also funny as fuckin HELL and kind of adorable?(The bubble!)
ROCKET... Aww man. Again with Yondu? AMAZING. And the scene at the end where he mentions the batteries? HEART BREAK.
Gamora and all her scenes with her sister where GOLD. It was nice to see her ya know... get this relationship fleshed out. I hope they can reunite in presumably the next Avengers movie? Thatd be great.
AND QUILL! Like right off the bat you just know his dads gonna be a prick but that guy takes it to the next level of shitty. Quills a champ though. His flashblacks to bonding with his team and Yondu(little Quill!!!!) gotta be some of my favorite moments.
But my favorite moment... I think has gotta be the end scene where Groot sits on Quills lap and they listen to music together. Its so adorable.
And the bad guy wasnt as shitty as whats his face from the original. SO!!!!
Bad? I didnt care for the gold people... they kinda reminded me of the LotR elves... except douchier.
I think thats it? I just didnt care for them. Though it was funny when Taserface says his name to the one lady and she fucking CRACKS UP. That was great.
(Extra)
If that was Hel at the end... her pun makes me like her more than I should going into Thor3
Also there was kinda of a sexy red guy? Fish... Guy? IDK but he was kinda fine There was also sexy yellow android ladies! (Gynoids rly I guess...)
It was weird to see Sylvester Stallone in the movie... because the minute hes on screen youre like ‘Its Sylvester Stallone... why is he being mean to Yondu‘ and then you hate him a little because Yondu is cool. (Or that could just be me.)
