My unpopular opinion. Why people stuck on one pairing of actors, in a way that if A and B breaks, they mourn or grieve. I really would be bored of seeing same couple in different dramas. Just like in straight dramas actors work with different co actresses and their chemistry works. I would love to see my faves ramming different actors out there. Work new pairings, bring old pairing back some dramas later.

Like, based solely on a capitalistic perspective, I see why both studios and actors push "pairings". Fans get attached to the characters/ships ergo they will extend that idolization onto the actors and follow them to the next project especially if the actors participate in marketing that builds up said fanbase. So the fan transference happened: fans like The Fictional Ship --> marketing happens pushing the actors as "a ship" --> fans like The "Real" Ship -> fans follow the actors into their next show/brand endorsement/what have you

Like, I get it~~~ and I get why actors like it and benefit from it too b/c being in "a pair" clearly leads to more sponsorships, brand deals, etc like, I see stuff for OffGun all the time in terms of magazines, photoshoots, brands, etc but I don't see a lot of stuff for First solo ya know? Well, its just if you're already commited and won't read that part, you'll miss out way too important shit. Bc this part of the series (I don't mean just the sand sea, but all the books in between) is a major turning point for everything. Qiling's past, Wu Xie's character and etc. Their relationships, too.

I'm not gonna lie it was hard for me to read (esp SS bc newbies that won't appear anymore that I couldn't get attached to, didn't help), not interest wise (bc I've finished these 4 in like 5 days lmao), but just because despite the usual high quality entertainment and badass dark Wu Xie, don't know if thats an unpopular opinion or not, I didn't enjoy seeing him like that at all. Like after 10 years Wu Xie is my favorite Wu Xie, bc besides becoming extremely badass, with his soul Xiaoge returning to him, he becomes alive again and returns his.. well, not childishness, but idk word for this his thing... cute mischief (? lol) too. And it was just heartwarming to see and be like "yes thats his my baby, but cooler now" haha.

But this middle part he just was very lifeless during the whole thing and reading like he was trying to "exist" for several books was depressing days for me haha. I'm just used to authors being nice about stuff like this and do like time skips and gentle flashbacks after maybe xD. But like proportionally.. considering the amount of books its all fair to me haha. And its a really an awesome part and the most informative one for sure.

Is it sad? Heck yeah. I mean, even with the knowledge that he's gonna be back and that he's alive, it's like he's going through all the stages of grief there and it's all not great, yeah. I mean, he also cuts himself on regular basis and just does many things that I think would make Xiaoge not even just super angry but straight up cry, but... BUT...

...I'm one of those ppl for whom "without the bitter the sweet isn't as sweet". Like to me skipping to the reunion would be a blasphemy as it is just cause I wouldn't find it as satisfying. That's just how it is for me. I hate angst without the happy ending as much as a happy ending without angst before that lmao. Thats why I think this franchise and I were meant to be xD. Bc its literally a constant perfect rollercoaster of just that.

But again, don't throw tomatoes and shoes at me pls, but like as much as I think that the SS casting was great and the quality of the whole production also great, I still didn't at all get the feels of what it felt like when I was reading it. Again don't kill me, but also there to me it kinda felt like he was his dead comrade or smth (lol idk why I'm sorry), while I deeply love this part for how very angsty fanfiction-y it is in the books. And I just didn't get what I wanted to get from it in the series. It was just not quite the same vibe to me.

And I'm always like willing to give everyone a chance to surprise me, no matter the budget and stuff, I don't care already for this after watching lots of stuff, but if it doesn't fit the certain feeling of the particular part, than I'll pass.

That being said. Just don't think they can put it off. I mean "hardcore romantic longing for someone who's like not even there" part and also that other part xD. I know someone who can, but I just don't wanna be the one who constantly like... whines about them not being able to join it again... But also I'm still totally doing it most of the time lol

Oh god okay let me think. Obviously im just gonna talk abt ateez i hope everyone knows that AKSKSJSHS. I'm sort of worried that anything I say could be seen as hating on the members lmao but ah well yall know I love them to pieces but they're not flawless so let me just say a couple of things that I think a lot of ppl might disagree with bc that's what sofi wants to hear :D

San sometimes goes too hard on stage. Honestly like until a month or so ago, fireworks era San was just okay to me, I wasn't nearly as into him as I am now and even now sometimes I'm watching a fancam and I'm like... dude please calm down. I've really grown to love how he performs fireworks more recently but yeah, there are moments when I just roll my eyes a little because he's over-dancing and the comments are going crazy abt him being the best dancer ever. Performer as a whole? Unmatched. Pure dancer? No. Since I'm talking abt fireworks specifically, I think Seonghwa and Yunho execute the choreo the best. Seonghwa gets the "I'm possessed by a demon" vibe down much better than San in fireworks performances, and Yunho's dancing is always clean and precise and never over the top.

You said opinions so here's another one. I don't like Eternal Sunshine as a song. As a whole performance, it's adorable (although half the time I was very confused abt what the stylists were thinking with some of those costumes). But I frequently skip the song on shuffle because it's really really not my kind of vibe. I like rock music lol and alternative punk pop and metal, not boppy happy pop music. It's also way too autotuned for my tastes in the recording. Watching live stages is a whole different story, I'm just talking about the studio recording here.

I'm the anon who got into NCT after Do addition. My memories have got blurry, but these are what I remember from Cherry Bomb and Boss eras.

I agree with you about time passing after Do addition and more exposition. Do got attacked a lot during Limitless, but things started looking up in Cherry Bomb era. The styling and song choice could be some of the biggest reasons (not just for Do, the whole group too). Nowadays, we see ppl praise Limitless as a superior title track and styling as artistic, but back then, not many ppl thought so. Cherry Bomb styling is more public-friendly and the song and choreo were explosive and more memorable. Do got a good amount of screentime in the MV and I saw many fans praised his bridge (with Taeil and Jae) and screamed about his purple hair making him cute and handsome. My irl friends bias other members, but they thought Do stood out too in the MV with his purple hair. There were plenty photos of purple haired Do taken by fansites.

Do got the Star Blossom station later in 2017. It's not a breakthrough song (compared with Jae's I Like Me Better), but his vocals got praised a lot. He prolly gained some new fans from the collab.

Then came NCT 2018 and Boss. The song became even more successful than Cherry Bomb and song popularity aside, the aesthetic and styling and Do's vocals were well-received again. His high note vid later blew up on twt and there were loads of small group vlives from the era for fans to get to know him (and other neos) better.

Ennana also started in 2017 and ran till 2019. Do guested often and later got Do! Digest. That's when fans got to know him better as a person and he gave plenty of comforting words there. Ennana gave cute Do selfies too. I suppose the gig has solidified Do's cute and caring image.

CB/Boss era Doyoung had a nice balance of elegant&cute appearance and a witty fiery character. We've seen a kind of a comeback to it during NCT2020 (MAW in particular) time. I hope it stays and Do forgets the filters.

Fans as a mass of people are something hard to like. We complain about toxic fandoms all the time, and idols get it much worse. The hate is directed at them, anti-movements can have consequences, each their move and word are observed and cancel culture happens every day. So sincerely idols can like only individual fans, the ones they meet face to face, the ones who write heartfelt letters or represent fan bars. Jaehyun congratulates with anniversaries loyal fans and shows night views to the fans who are able to appreciate them (who shares his romantic/poetic onlook on life, not those who care about superficial). He is honest this way, and he is reaching the right people. For everyone else, it's the effort he puts in keeping his body fat-free and his image of Ideal Jaehyun.
