How You Meet
Slenderman
Growing up, you had always been told to avoid the woods at the local park. Your father told you stories of a monster that hunted children in them. A horrible creature lacking any facial features and being as tall as the trees himself. You always felt an almost pulling sensation when around the woods, trying to get you into them. Never did you set foot into them, though.
Being older, you realized it was just a scare tactic to keep you out of them. Your father had likely not wanted you to go and get hurt. It was easier to watch you on the playground. Still, your relationship with the forest was complicated. You weren't necessarily scared of them, but you were weary.
After a rough day of work, though, you decided to go for a walk. You had driven past the park but decided to double back. After parking, you sat and stared at the trees for a moment. You parked and got out, heading into the heart.
The walk started off well. The birds chirping and dirt beneath your feet helped you relax. You nearly forgot your fear of the forest. Nearly. Until you felt eyes on you. You looked around, and nobody was there. Of course not. You hadn't seen anybody.
Suddenly, a sharp stabbing started at your temples as a headache set in. Great. Just what you needed. Surely, it was a side effect of such an awful day. You failed to notice how silent the forest had fallen. You felt something wet on your lip and saw a couple of blood drops meet the dirt.
You reached up to attempt to stop it as your mind became more fuzzy and clouded. You looked around, wondering if there was a source when you saw it. The same tall, featureless creature that you thought your dad had made up.
It was at least 8 feet tall, thin, had a suit and red tie, and a snow white, featureless face. Your eyes widened with shock, and you stumbled back. You caught yourself and turned before booking it out of the forest. The blood gushed from your nose, and you focused on just getting out of there.
You got to your car and got into your car, high tailing it out of there. You were so focused that you didn't notice said figure watching you speed away.
BEN Drowned
A new video game, how exciting. Even if it was probably a bootleg copy. Better than nothing.
You were a college student, and in being one meant you couldn't really afford much of anything. You had brought your N64 and some games with you, but you wanted some new games. So you started finding garage and yard sales to try and find some new games.
The first couple you went to were busts. But then you found a copy of Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. One of your favorite childhood games. The label had been taken off, and the name was written in Sharpie on the front. Still, something was better than nothing. The old man who sold it to you didn't seem like someone who would have such a game. Maybe it was his grandchilds? You didn't put too much thought into it and continued on your search for some other games.
When you got back to your dorm, you booted up your console and noticed the first save file was named BEN. 'Guess it was his grandsons.' You thought before picking the second save file.
You played the game and decided to do a cheat to avoid the moon crashing into Hyrule so quickly. Soon enough, things started to go awry. The Elegy of Emptiness was randomly summoning and following you around. You would glitch to the Skull Kid fight and get set on fire, and then die. Or it would just glitch to show Link dead on the ground by Skull Kid.
The Happy Mask Vendor was also just doing some weird stuff. Then, the game would refer to you as BEN. "What the fuck?" You mumbled. Sure, you figured the game was going to be a little fucked up. But this?
After another death, the screen went black, and "YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT" flashed on the screen. You rubbed your temples as you tried to comprehend everything that was happening.
"BEN WANTS TO PLAY" flashed next and was the final straw. You turned the game off at the console and tried to turn on something to help creep you out less.
Eyeless Jack
Everything had started off relatively normally. Well, as normal as it could be considering a kidney eating maniac was ravaging the town you lived in.
It was on every news broadcast even when there were no new updates. You sighed and turned the television off as you got ready for bed. You checked your doors and windows to make sure they were locked, considering the situation at hand. Then you went to your room and got ready for sleep.
You'd be lying if you said you weren't scared about the killer. Your town had been relatively peaceful until he came. You closed your blinds and double-checked that you had your knife under your pillow. It was just a kitchen knife, but it helped ease your nerves. You dressed in your pajamas and crawled into bed.
You had had a pretty busy day, so you slipped away to sleep fairly fast.
You woke up to the pitch blackness of your room (save for a small nightlight by your bed and the door). Initially, you didn't understand why you woke up. Usually, you slept through the night without waking up.
Your body shifted, and you locked eyes with...a lack of eyes. The person above you had a mask with blacked out eye sockets and a tar like substance that cascaded down the mask. There wasn't a mouth on the mask, and the person was dressed in all black.
Before you could scream, a gloved hand pressed itself over your mouth to stop you. You slowly moved your hand to try and reach the knife under your pillow without alerting the person.
"Don't even think about it." A rough voice commanded and before you could say something he had jumped off of you and ran towards the window he came in from. You felt frozen, just staring at the doorway, before you got up and found which window he used to get in. You closed and locked it, adrenaline slowly subsiding.
Hoodie
You had just started at a new college, and the butterflies were in full effect. You had moved to a new area to go to the college because they had a great program for film. Which meant you didn't know anybody. You hoped you would make at least one.
You walked into the building and sat down in the class. You set your backpack beside the desk and pulled your notebook out. You started making small doodles in the margin of the very back page when you heard someone clear their voice beside you.
When you looked to the person, it was a man. He was fairly tall, had sandy dirty blonde hair, a mustache, and had a yellow hoodie on. "Hey, is this seat taken?" He asked and motioned to the seat next to you. "Oh! No, it's empty. You can take it." He smiled at you, and the butterflies worsened. He wasn't bad looking at all. "So, are you new here? I haven't seen you in these kinds of classes before." You nodded.
"Yeah, I just moved here for school. Don't really know anybody in the area yet." You confessed, and he gave a smile as he nodded. "Well, I can give you a tour of campus." He offered. You smiled and nodded. "Yeah, that sounds nice." He nodded in response, "I'm Brian, by the way. And you are...?" "I'm Y/N." You introduced yourself. "Nice to meet cha." After some small chit chat, the teacher came in.
After the class was done, you both packed up and grabbed your bags before heading out. After a bit, he had shown you around the fairly small campus, and he smiled at you. "I gotta get to my next class, but we should hang out later. You can meet my friends if you want." You smiled brightly and nodded, and the two of you parted ways.
Masky
You had been struggling with your mental health as far back as you can remember. In and out of different therapists and then psychiatrists. Nobody seemed to know what was wrong with you, but they decided on schizophrenia. You wondered if you'd be able to get the prescriptions. Your pharmacy had been a bit weird with refills lately. You were walking in when you collided with someone. You fell back and landed on your butt.
You looked up and were met with a man who appeared to be late 20s or early 30s. He had dark brown hair, sideburns, and matching eyes. He smelled of cigarette smoke and was wearing an off-yellow jacket, black t-shirt, and jeans. He had initially seemed annoyed before he softened and offered you a hand.
You took it and stood up, brushing any debris off your rear end. "Hey, I'm really sorry about that. I wasn't even paying attention." He apologized, and you smiled. "It's alright. I should have been paying more attention anyway."
He chuckled and shrugged a bit. "Well, can I take you out to coffee sometime? As a way to apologize." Normally, you would deny such an offer, but he was pretty cute. "Oh sure." You felt the heat rush to your cheeks. You grabbed a piece of paper and pen and wrote your number down, handing it to him. "Oh, what's your name, by the way? I'm Y/N." You smiled. "I'm Tim."
"Well, nice to meet you, Tim. I gotta go to my appointment but I'll talk to you soon?" He nodded in agreement and the two of you parted ways.
Jeff The Killer
You had known Jeff before the incident, though you hadn't been close. You had gone to school with him. Rumors of what happened spread like wildfire across town. You felt bad for him, of course, but life moved on. From the rumors you heard, he wasn't even in town anymore.
Years passed, and you were in college, staying in your own apartment in a nearby town. You had forgotten about Jeff until a news segment came up while you were cooking dinner.
"Breaking news! An unidentified man has killed two people by stabbing so far in T/N. No witnesses were at the scenes, and his appearance is unknown. Lock your doors and windows and stay vigilant."
You watched the TV curiously as you stirred the pot on the stove. "That's not good." You mumbled. You left the pot to simmer while you went around and double-checked all your doors and windows were locked. You kept a knife under your pillow normally anyway (for safety reasons).
Your night continued normally, and the news segment drifted to the back of your mind. You cleaned up and got ready for bed as usual. You laid down, and soon enough, you drifted off.
You awoke suddenly, though, unsure why. It didn't take long to figure out you were being watched. A man stood beside your bed and watched you sleep. The dark made it hard to make out any specific features. You could only make out shaggy, dark hair, and his lips looked abnormally long.
Before anything could happen, he dashed out of the room and into your living room. You grabbed your knife and attempted to chase him, but he was gone when you got to your living room. The only evidence left was the open window and curtains blowing in the breeze.
Laughing Jack
Your sister/brother had a sudden emergency come up and needed you to watch your niece, Lily. You didn't mind watching her. In fact, she was a pretty sweet little girl, around 4 years old. She was shy around most people except for you and her immediate family.
Soon enough, your sister/brother dropped Lily off along with some clothes and stuffed animals. You started playing a board game with Lily after her mom/dad left. It started off normally. You let Lily keep winning, and suddenly, you noticed she was staring behind you.
You raised your eyebrow at her behavior and looked behind you. Of course, nothing was there. Not that you could see. Lily continued staring before she giggled. "Lily, what are you looking at?" You questioned.
She stopped staring to look at you and grinned. "My friend, Jack!" Ah, an imaginary friend. A soft smile came to your lips. "Yeah? What's Jack like?" You pressed curiously. "He's a super, really tall clown! He's black and white colored." She described him to you, and you nodded. "He gives me candy sometimes. Well, he tries to. But mommy/daddy takes it from me every time." She frowned slightly.
"Ah, is that right? Well, maybe I can spare some candy after dinner. How does that sound?" She grinned once again at the offer. Suddenly, she seemed to be paying attention to Jack.
She giggled and went back to playing the game with you. You brushed off the incident, figuring your sister/brother already knew about it, and continued with the game. Soon enough, she got bored and headed to the guest bedroom to play with her stuffed animals.
It didn't take long for her to start giggling, and you could tell she was talking to someone (though you couldn't tell what she was talking about). Soon, she walked out with her stuffed dog in her hand and her other hand in a loose fist. "Jack said I should give you this. He wants to thank you for giving me candy since he can't."
She opened her hand, and she had a small bar/bag of your favorite candy in it. You had no idea how she had gotten the candy. You had finished your candy off a couple of days earlier and were positive there wasn't any left. 'Maybe she had some already on her.' You rationalized and took it from her.
"Well, you tell Jack that I said thank you." She giggled and nodded before going back to the guest bedroom.

Free Guy- Walter Keys Mckey x fem reader blurb
Walter Keys Mckey x fem pregnant reader
ao3 link
mentions of pregnancy, nsfw themes/content ahead 18+ only.
Keys was the best husband and he was a gamer who created his own worlds with many games but his best game and most famous was known as Free Guy. In the game you could choose your own avatar and immerse yourself in the world. Keys was the dirty stripper cop in the game but in real life he was an average computer gamer geek but he was your geek. Free City was the world of Free Guy and blue shirt guy helped you and Keys to reveal your true feelings for one another.
Many games later and he was famous and rich but his proudest accomplishment was getting the girl at the end of the day- you. You were so enthralled by him and all of his gamer success but his personality you loved the most of all. You had many dates with Keys including gamer conventions, movie dates, dinner dates, vacations to Hawaii, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Fiji, New Zealand, and so many more places. When you were at a fair in New York he proposed at the top of the ferris wheel and of course you said yes.
The best part about being engaged was having the promise of forever with Keys. Soon you were married in Hawaii and had your honeymoon there as well flying in a helicopter to see the best view of the island. Now a married woman you and Keys decided to start a family together. You had so much love for him and after a year of trying you were pregnant.
Pregnant sex with Keys was nothing short of wonderful. He was attuned to your needs and wants. You didnt fuck each other but you made love and he let you be on top as he rubbed your belly. He loved to kiss your stomach and talk to the baby and to feel the baby kick. During bath time he would wash you with so much care and be behind you singing to the baby.
Keys did all of the chores and let you have bed rest. He would pamper you, massage you, and make you breakfast in bed. Keys even learned how to make your favorite desserts and bake for you. Every night with him was date night.
Eventually you got a cat a tabby and named her Precious. Soon after that you got a cute yorkshire terrier and named him Keys Jr. and both of your pets were adopted from an animal shelter. You would discuss with Keys what you wanted to one day name your future kids and came up with some great names. Keys and you agreed upon the name for a boy being Walt Jr. and for a girl Zelda after the game.
The days he would game on his computer you would join him and either just watch or be nearby doing one of your hobbies and spending time together. Sometimes you would play some music and game along with him or just playing your own game. He would love when you would just crawl into his lap and cock warm him and when you would stroke and suck his cock. What he loved most though was when you would ride him as he watched some game plays and game tutorials.
Sex with Keys was passionate and loving whether you were making love or having rough sex and dominating him. Sometimes he would dress up as his favorite game characters but would love when you dressed up as Princess Peach from Mario. When you introduced sex toys into the bedroom he loved to use some on you but also the couple toys which you could use together. Some days you would just stay in bed together giving each other countless orgasms and having your meals in bed together.
There was so much you did together and you loved every minute of it and he was your biggest supporter no matter what you were by each others sides. He loved to pat your baby bump and give you massages always so loving and tender with you. Pregnant sex was so good and he was perfect at making love to you. Keys was happy to meet your needs and he was such a pleaser.
You began to buy stuff for the baby and painted the baby room a pastel yellow. There was a wonderful baby shower and you had all of your friends there. The best part about being with Keys was his passion and personality not to mention his fierce protectiveness of you and the baby. What you thought was a baby was soon confirmed it was not one but two babies and you were overjoyed to know you were having twins with him.
Soon the babies arrived and he was there for you and with you every step of the way and in the hospital too. He was the most caring and genuine guy he was one a kind and no one else was like him. No other person had ever made you feel quite as special as he did and you were thankful for that fact. With Keys you felt like you could do anything and everything.
The babies were taken home and you were getting bed rest and soon the baby room was painted pink and blue to replace the yellow paint from before. The best part about being new parents was that you could have your own kids who could be model images of you and your husband. They were a handful and you were exhausted as new parents but the babies grandparents were happy to be taking care of them.
So many pictures were taken of the twins and you made a big scrapbook for them and for the family. All of your friends and family loved spending time with them and you would have family days and picnics in the park together once a month. The kids loved Keys Jr and Zelda and as they got older loved to play video games. Each day with the twins and your Keys were the best days and you cherished the love and family you had.

Welcome to The Wind’s Track AU!
A lot of people have been stopping by to check this AU out, so I thought now was a good time to make a pinned post for this.
What is this AU?
This is a Legend of Zelda AU in which Link, the Hero of Winds from Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass (nicknamed Wind in this AU), sticks around New Hyrule as a spirit after his life has reached its conclusion.
During his wanderings as a spirit one day, he went to check on his old pal Niko to find that Niko had taken in a baby named Link (nicknamed Spirit in this AU) whom he found washed ashore. This baby will eventually grow up to be the Hero of Spirits from Spirit Tracks. Wind is surprised at the matching name and almost identical appearance, but even more surprising than all of that is that this kid has the ability to see and hear him.
Basically, the ghost of the Hero of Winds helps raise the Hero of Spirits.
Don’t know where to start with exploring the AU? Try this, or try exploring some of the tags!

Some WT AU Questions and Answers (under the break)
Q: Is this associated with Linked Universe?
A: No. While Linked Universe is a wonderful AU, the Wind’s Track is its own, separate AU. The events of Linked Universe DO NOT and NEVER WILL HAPPEN in the “canon” of this AU. If you would like to see a little more of my thoughts on that, please view this post.
Q: Can I post fanart, fanfics, etc. of this AU?
A: Absolutely! If you do, all I ask is that you credit me for the AU. (Also, please tag me so I can see it. 🤭) While on the subject, feel free to check out the tag #WT reference sheet if you’d like to see references of the characters within the context of the AU.
Q: Is there an official fic for this AU?
A: Unfortunately, no. I am not a confident writer. I have an Ao3 account (Lindseybot), but I never post fics on it. I, instead, use it to subscribe, leave kudos, leave comments, etc. I occasionally post little comics of the AU here on Tumblr, however.
Q: Will there be a full comic then?
A: As of now, I do not have any plans to do that. Not only is this AU still very early in development, but that would take a LONG time. With my current schedule being the way it is, it just wouldn't be feasible. Still, never say never. You never know what the future may hold. As of now, I plan to just occasionally post mini comics and art pieces that take place at any random point in the timeline of the AU.
Q: Can I use your art as an icon, banner, etc.
A: Sure!! I’m honored that you like my art enough to want to use it for that! Please just make sure to credit me!
Q: Can I send you asks? / Can I send you a lot of asks? / Can I send you suggestions?
A: PLEASE DO! Hearing from y'all makes me very happy. Anons are welcome too! If you decide to ask anonymously, I will give you an anon name. If you ask about a character’s shoes or something (as a silly example) I might dub you "Shoe Anon." Whether or not you use the name is up to you, but if you want to send another ask later and make it known to me that you are the same anon as from a previous ask you can be like: "Hey! It's Shoe Anon again! I have another question!"
Q: Why does Wind look young? Did he die young?
A: Nope! Don’t let his looks fool you. He may look no older than during the days of his adventures, but he actually lived a long, happy life. His adventures were the most impactful part of his life. As such, his appearance as a spirit is simply a reflection of that.
Q: What ships are in this AU?
A: ST Zelda x ST Link. If you want to see more of my thoughts on that, check out this post.
Q: What games will this AU cover content from?
A: This AU will contain spoilers for the following games:
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
Other games within the Legend of Zelda series are subject to be mentioned, but they are a lot less likely.
Q: The Spotify Playlist collaborator link isn’t working, but I want to be a collaborator. What do I do?
A: Not to worry! Spotify’s collaborator link always expires after seven days. We are forced to put up with that feature. Send me an ask about it. I’ll renew the link! :)
Q: I want to add a song to the playlist, but I don’t want anyone to know I was the one who added it. Is there still a way for me to add it?
A: That’s perfectly fine! Send me the song name and artist name through an anon ask. I’ll add it for you!

Castletown Academy 3
Link’s friends are...hesitant.
I love all these characters, they’re all trying their best.
---
"Mipha! Daruk!" Flora charged out of her room to be hoisted into the air by the Goron before he'd even made it through the front door of the apartment. "Guess what. I'm getting a brother!"
Welp. There went the careful explanation Link had practiced.
"Is that right?" Daruk asked, lowering her to the floor and bending down to listen to her at eye level.
"Yes. His name is Ralphie, and he plays the piano, and he likes to read, and he likes strawberry ice cream, and he doesn't talk much."
Daruk nodded as if taking her very seriously, while also obviously not believing a word she said. "Wow. Strawberry, huh?"
"He's small, but he'll grow, but probably not as much as Sidon."
"It would be hard to grow as big as Sidon. He's quite tall," Mipha said. She gave Flora an indulgent smile and leaned in to give Link a hug.
"And we're going to live in his back yard."
Link couldn't let that one pass. "We're not living in his yard. We're going to live in an apartment."
Flora corrected herself. "An apartment in his yard."
"Technically yes, but don't tell people that."
Mipha gave him a questioning look, her smile flickering in confusion. Daruk stood, rubbing his chin. "You're moving? What's all this now?"
Link cleared his throat. "Can we talk in the kitchen? I have to stir the sauce." This gave him twenty whole seconds to piece his explanation back together, but also twenty whole seconds to panic. His friends were going to tell him this was a terrible idea, because it was a terrible idea, and he knew it and didn't want to hear it.
He stirred the sauce and Mipha and Daruk slid up to the passthrough to watch him. It was like they couldn't decide if they should be bemused or concerned and the longer he waited, the more they leaned towards concern.
"You know how I told you about the trouble we're having finding a school?" He darted his eyes in Flora's direction. He didn't want to talk about his money problems in front of her. He didn't want her to feel guilty at all or ashamed. His friends caught the look and nodded in understanding.
"Well, I met this other single parent, and she's trying to get her kid in too. And it turns out that it's easier for siblings to get in together. So...we're teaming up."
"Teaming up?" Daruk asked.
"You're adopting her son?" Mipha asked, looking aghast.
"No. No no. Step siblings."
They blinked at him.
"We're getting married."
They blinked at him again.
Daruk was the first to regain the power of speech. "Well, that's one way to do it, I guess. Congratulations?"
"Congratulate Flora. She got her acceptance letter today." He grinned at her, and she bounced on her heels.
"Well!" Daruk said. "That's great news! Well done, Little Pebble!"
"Daddy made a cake!"
"We're very proud of you," Mipha said. But then she gave Link a look from the corner of her eye. "And...Ralphie? He got his acceptance too?"
"Yep. Oh! Let me show you." He pulled out his slate and pulled up the picture Zelda had texted him of Ralphie absolutely beaming after getting his acceptance letter.
For a moment everyone cooed over him.
Then Mipha looked up, "And...the problem you were having?"
"Ralphie's mom--Zelda--she's taking care of it."
"Taking care of it."
"Yeah. Everybody wins."
"How about that!" Daruk said. "If everybody wins, then everybody wins." He elbowed Mipha a bit roughly and gave Link his biggest grin.
Mipha did not.
"RahRah, why don't you go show Daruk how your ficus is doing," Link said.
"That I'd love to see." Daruk offered Flora a thick finger, which she took to drag him back to her room. On the way out, he murmured to Mipha, "Careful now."
When they were alone, Link sighed. "They're a really sweet family, Mipha. The kid's selectively mute. He was getting bullied so bad at his last school that he needs to get out."
Her look softened. "He seems very sweet."
"Yeah."
"And his mother?"
"His mother is grateful that we could help get him in."
"So grateful that she's paying for both kids?"
"Yeah." And his rent, but he wasn't going to mention that.
"And you don't see this as her paying you to marry her? Holding Flora's education over your head?"
"What? It's not like that at all."
"Then what's it like?"
"It's like we're both desperate to take care of our kids. We both have what the other needs, and we're both trying to hold it together, and we're trying to be as professional as possible."
"You're calling a marriage professional. You can see why that worries me. You wear your heart on your sleeve, and if you let yourself fall, you fall hard. That's why you haven't let yourself date since--"
"I'm not dating Zelda. We're doing a legal thing. It's not romantic."
"Are you sure it's not romantic for her?"
"I'm positive."
"Are you sure she's not hoping for it? Are you sure you're not hoping for it?"
He rolled his eyes so he could look away.
"You're sure she's not going to break your heart?"
"There's not a lot there to break."
She scoffed. "That's nonsense and you know it. You have so much love to give. Look, you're already pouring it out on this little boy. Do you really think you won't latch onto his mother too? I know you. You're a little tender and a lot desperate, and that seems like a situation in which someone could easily take advantage."
He turned back to stir his sauce. "We're both well aware." His eyes glazed over as he stirred. "That's why we're being professional. That's why we're being careful. She's desperate too, and I think she's also in a tender place. I don't know. She gets it, and I...I trust her."
Mipha bit her lower lip and nodded. "Okay. I'm here for you. I'm only voicing my concerns because I care."
"I know." He smiled at her, but then broke into a grin. "I bet Sidon offers to throw me a bachelor party."
Giving a dainty shrug, she said, "I am the lone voice of reason."
An elaborate rhythm beat out on the front door before Sidon burst in, carrying a bottle of wine and a jar of hummus.
"Sidon!" Flora shouted. "I got into Castletown Academy, and daddy's getting married, and I get a new brother!"
"What?" Sidon hefted her into his arms and blinked at her once.
Then his face split into a sparkling grin full of teeth. "What wondrous news! Congratulations! I should have brought better offerings! Link, my good friend, where are you?"
Link laughed as he left the kitchen to accept a squeezing hug.
Behind him, Mipha rubbed the bridge of her nose.

DAILY BRAINROT
I've been thinking about the Guidemarks AU again and the whole deal with Mask/Time. I'm going to do my best to explain my thought process here, so bear with me.
OoT/MM!Link originally goes by Link during the events of OoT and MM for obvious reasons. I'm not 100% sure how the story goes in those games, but depending on how old he is when he's adopted by the Great Deku Tree, I think it's pretty likely that he had a kokiri name before leaving the Lost Woods. Or he might've had two names or just used a Hylian name the entire time. But I like the idea that maybe Zelda picked a Hylian name for him if she had to teach him how to speak the Hylian language and maybe named him after a story book hero because it's a cool name and they were kids.
Then after OoT/MM he went by Mask because there were already two other Links and Linkle so he couldn't be Link anymore. He probably also had weird feelings about keeping the name Zelda gave him. So Mask it was because calling him the Hero of Time would've just put a big target on his back and I kind of doubt he'd want to be named Time when time travel got him into this mess in the first place.
And then of course the War of Eras is over and he has to go home and that sucks and it's awful and horrible and a million other things, but eventually he gets his feet under himself. Somewhere along the way he realizes his name is legally Link and he wants to change it, but he's not really Mask anymore, either, so after a while he decides that Time is a good enough name for him because even though time traveling did a lot of bad things to him and other people, it also helped him out a lot and he wouldn't have met a lot of great people without it.
Separate from all that there's the downfall timeline in which he died as Link. Brutally cut down by Ganondorf and somehow the only instance of a duplication? Anyway... I think this Link sticks around long enough to meet Legend and Hyrule and thus ends up choosing a new name because he's not who he was while he was alive, really, and he never had the chance to progress like Mask/Time did. I know I said Mask would probably fit but I also realized he never got to the War of Eras, so he'd never have that thought process in the first place. And since everyone refers to him as "the fallen hero" but he's not exactly "the hero of time" I think Fallen suits him. Because that's what he is. A hero that fell in battle. That's his defining characteristic compared to the others. A tragic, cautionary tale that haunts his successors.
How does this fit into the AU? I'm not completely sure. I don't know how time travel works. For now I'm ignoring it until I try writing origin stories again because I really need to just get myself together and get things written. Also maybe if I ignore it it'll work itself out.
holding this in my little hands and eating it /pos
Fallen HURTS but its so so good oh my god
i am obsessed with this, so much actually, im so excited to see where you go with this 👁️👁️

“Where did you learn to do this?” I looked up at my arms that were held above my head with rope. I couldn't find any wiggle room and there wasn't any way to untie myself. Not with both hands and feet bound to the bed frame. I would have been more worried but Four had already assured me that he wasn't going to do anything weird. It had taken some time but after what felt like an eternity of back and forth, with four doing most of the talking, he finally took the gag out of my mouth after I promised not to scream.
“Learn to do what?” he asked. Turning his head to the side as a sign of confusion. His voice sounded worried and I knew he was concerned about what I was thinking about. He had been here and knew he had to wait and see how the chips would fall. This moment could make or break their relationship with their darling. Either way they would have you, but they also wanted you to be comfortable.
“The uh-” I tugged my hands some more “-rope thing.”
“Tying you up?”
“Yes…” I hedged. I wanted more information but more than that I wanted the chance to mess something up and escape. Even if I didn't manage to make it out, being able to try something would help. Four moved from his spot leaning against the wall next to me. He walked to the opposite side of the bed and settled down next to me. He smiled and leaned over to place a kiss on the top of my head.
“It’s nothing special, just an average knot, frankly i'm surprised you haven’t tried to break out yet.” he laid his head down on the pillow next to mine. I wanted to say something to him but I was distracted by the fact that he was just laying right there. Without a care in the world he just made himself comfortable while I was tied up next to him.
He looked like he could just about explode with happiness and I wanted to move away but I was unable to do anything but wiggle in my spot. He moved closer and I tried to move regardless. He laughed as instead of getting anywhere I just writhed in place. Throwing my head back I tried to get a better look at my hands one more time. I still didnt know how to get myself out.
“I’m just kidding, you know, there's no way for you to break out of that.” he sounded so happy and proud of himself. As a rule I tried to avoid people who enjoy others suffering but I couldn't avoid this. The only reason I hadn't screamed was because I knew that no one would be around to help. His house was on the outskirts of town and even then the gag was still sitting on the bedside table. It was helpless and I couldn't even cower away from his touch.
“I just cabt risk loosing you. Now that I finally have you safe by my side i cant ever let you leave. Sorry for lying like that buttercup.” He cupped my face in one of his hands and gave me a kiss on the cheek. The use of my nickname made me want to crawl out of my skin. I always enjoyed being called that by him before but now after seeing this other side of him shine all the way through it made me feel sour. He wasn't allowed to call me that name while I laid helpless because of him.
He moved closer to me. Wrapping himself around my body I could feel his heartbeat rise as he moved closer. He buried his head into my shirt and could hear him take several deep breaths. Inhaling my scent and pushing himself closer as he leaned into me. He was half laying across me and half sprawled put on the other side of the bed. He ran a hand along the side of my face and stroked my cheek. His hands were warm, incredibly so. He was probably working the forge before he heard me wake up.
“I’m just…” he nuzzled his head into my body and moved himself ever so slightly further on top of me. “I'm just so happy you're here with me. I hope you don't mind the stay, I've already had everything planned out for a few weeks but I just couldn't keep putting it off. Truth be told, I was planning on doing this only if you rejected me but I guess I couldn't help myself.”
He looked up and gazed into my eyes. He had a huge grin on my face and something in those eyes told me he saw me as a delicious meal rather than a worried friend. I looked at the wall rather than give them any satisfaction. He cupped my chin in one of his calloused hands and pulled on my chin. Turning my head down to look him in the eyes.
“You can't even pull away from me.” he muttered. “And you're just so adorable, like a scared little mouse, I could just eat you up.” I wriggled underneath him and it did nothing to shake him off. Rather it seemed to spur him on, he laughed again and this time moved on top of me all the way. Straddling my hips with his he sat on top of me and I could see the wide eyed look of his that he was exploding with some sort of tormenting happiness.
This contact made me blush a bit and I looked away from his face. Finding the wall behind him or the bedside more interesting than the man on top of me. Not that I wanted to think of him like that. It was a little more intimate than I was used to but nothing to completely freak out over.
“What an interesting expression, would you care to explain what you're thinking about for me.” he leaned over and placed both of his arms on either side of my head. His hair fell down and brushed the sides of my face. I turned my head to the side and he placed a kiss on my cheek. Then my jaw, and lightly he trailed a line of kisses from my jaw to the lobe of my ear. Lightly biting here and there as he made his way up to the tip of my ear. I whined slightly as he made his way back down.
“You're finally mine.”

Link meets the chain and decides to mess with them. Only a little bit though.
Link had been following this suspicious looking group for the past three days. He was almost tempted to jump out of his hiding place and direct them to the nearest stable. This was of course he was sure they weren’t yiga (yes, he’d checked with the good old banana test) and also because they’d been walking around in circles the whole time he’d been following them.
But just because they weren’t yiga, didn’t mean Link could let his guard down. He’d even listed examples of why. (Zelda would be proud of him when he showed her)
WHY THESE ‘TRAVELLERS’ ARE SUSPISHOUS
1. They have weird names
2. One of them has the master sword
…Yeah that was all he had. But still, it was something!
Link nearly danced in celebration when the group finally found the stable.
As they walked up to it, he made a split second decision. Dressed in his most casual clothing (Champion tunic, and the master sword on his back) he sauntered up to the stable.
When the travellers noticed him (more like noticed the master sword) walk past and sit at the fire, they came over, asking to join him.
Link shrugged in response, but shuffled over to make some room.
“So,” The one with the other master sword on his back. “What’s your name?”
Don’t say Link.
“Link.” He replied. He didn’t have the tri force of wisdom, after all.
The youngest looking one, maybe about 14 wearing very familiar blue tunic, perked up.
“Link? Like the hero?”
Don’t say something stupid.
“What hero?” Damn it.
“The hero that defeated Ganon.” The one with pink hair butted in, rolling his eyes.
Link busied himself with arranging the rocks he’d taken out of his slate before.
“I ain’t never heard of no Ganon.”
The master sword wielder blinked in confusion. “But, the stable master just told us about it. Calamity and all that.”
“Urban myth.” Link said, waving his hand vaguely.
The guy with the blue scarf scoffed. “We can see the ruins of the castle from here kid. What caused that if it wasn’t Ganon?”
Quick, Link. Think of something to say.
“Cuccos. Destructive beasts.”
“Are cuccos something different around here?” The one with the facial markings asked.
“Look, Link.” One eye said. “We need you to be serious with us here.”
“Am.”
“Are you the hero who defeated Ganon?”
“Nope.”
The little one decided to try his luck. “Then what’s with the master sword on your back?”
“What, this?” Link replied, grabbing it. “This is called a cucco killer 3000. Only thing that can destroy those foul fowl.” He shuddered for emphasis.
“Anyways, I better get going. Nice meeting you. Toodles!”
“Hang on.” The guy with the master sword grabbed his arm as he went to stand. “If you aren’t the hero, do you at least know where we’d be able to find him?”
Link sighed, looking away as he blinks back tears. “Poor lad.” He said. “Passed away.”
The travellers shared a look. “What happened to him?” One asked.
Link looked at them, serious eyes filled with unshed tears. “The cuccos got to him.”

15 people, 15 questions
tagged by @patchworkgargoyle!! 💚💚
1. are you named after anyone?
my dead name was possibly in honor of my grandmother and great-grandmother, but i 100% named myself after noah czerny (trc) when i was 17 👻
2. when was the last time you cried?
probably yesterday? idk, it happens a lot and my memory's terrible
3. do you have kids?
no. probably never will, whether i want them or not. i'm a little too scared of how easy it is screw up in parenthood
4. what sports do you play/have played?
i played softball from kindergarten through eighth grade, but that last year, i had a coach who benched me for over half of our games and screamed at me during practice in front of the whole team and made me sick to my stomach at just the thought of playing, so i decided i was done with the sport and didn't try out in high school lol
5. do you use sarcasm?
constantly. too much probably. but like, not with strangers usually, and i try to make it pretty obvious if i am being sarcastic
6. what's the first thing you notice about people?
the way they look at me/their expression, maybe? i'm just like. constantly on edge in public and i don't pass super well and also i'm just like. wildly self-conscious, so i'm always like 'okay, let's see, does this random stranger already hate me? 🤔'
7. what's your eye color?
i guess hazel would be most accurate answer. i've always said brown (dishwater brown to quote the midwife who helped deliver me), but it turns out there's actually green in there too and it's just brown around my pupil (a fact i genuinely did not realize until i was like. 17) so....yeah, hazel
8. scary movies or happy endings?
you know i always say i don't like scary movies because i'm very easily spooked, but i'm currently back on my chucky shit (sorry followers, but tis the season) and honestly, i wanna cop out and say both, scary movie with a happy ending.
9. any talents?
the sad thing is, no, i genuinely can't think of a single one. like, all i've got is that i can make a star with a rubber band, but i don't think that's a talent lol
10. where were you born?
ohio, unfortunately :/
11. what are your hobbies?
writing, reading, playing way too much zelda/stardew valley, occasionally knitting, taking walks, crosswords, making niche playlists, listening to the same song on repeat for hours
12. do you have any pets?
i am the proud proprietor of the cutest dog this side of the mississippi, miss ellie rose. (seasonally-appropriate evidence of said cuteness below)
13. how tall are you?
5'4" (and three quarters) #shortkingnation 😔✊
14. favorite subject in school?
english and math!!
15. dream job?
honestly, i have no idea. i've never had very lofty ambitions; when i was a kid, i wanted to be a bus driver or a mail man, and i never really found anything that stoked my soul in the past two decades. trite english major answer here, but i guess maybe working in a library or a bookstore would be nice (i'd say author but girlie, i could never) 🤷♂️
no-pressure, zero-obligation tags: @hellfiredemon, @starryeyedjanai, @pizzaqueen, @thefreakandthehair, @cheatghost, @vecnuthy andddd that's about everyone i know, sorry if i double-tagged anyone!!
#tag game#about me#sorry if i tagged anyone that didn't wanna be tagged too#i'm always so scared to tag people lol

Kendall loves to play videogames.
He honestly doesn't know how they became such an important part of his very strict routine but he knew how it all had started. It was a couple of years ago, while hanging out with Stewy, they were at his apartment just sitting around and talking, something they didn't get to do that often- at least since they graduated college. He probably was feeling shitty about something he now can't even remember and ended up calling Stewy, knowing he never would say no to him.
After about half an hour of comfortable silence while a movie played on the ridiculously sized flat screen, more as background noise that anything, Stew pulled out something from his bag and Kendall took a few seconds to recognize the blue and red controllers.
"Is that- what? Is that a fucking switch? My daughter plays with one of those dude. Are you fucking playing animal crossing or- or what?"
Stewy basically ignored him, barely acknowledging his words by sighing while he turned on the console. Kendall scooched closer on the sofa, curiously looking at the console to see a home screen with various games displayed, Stewy chose a game named The Legend of Zelda.
That name didn't mean anything to him, he had only recognized the console because he bought one for each of his kids when it came out. Even if he considered himself somewhat knowledgeable in current trends and slang- out of what he could admit was a desperate attempt to appear cool to others- the videogame world was something no amount of late night googling could make him understand. He wasn't that old, but videogames had always felt like something from outside his world, they felt like something that wasn't meant for him.
"What even is a fucking Zelda dude? How do you have time for this shit? Don't you have things to do?" He insisted, parcially out of curiosity, but mostly wanting Stewy to stop ignoring him.
"It's not like I spend all day sitting around playing this, Ken. We all have some free time, you included." Kendall's eyes were fixated on the screen, watching the character run around a Nordic looking field, but he could tell Stewy wasn't looking at him as he spoke. "You are like- obssesed with you own missery man. You're like a badly written, one-dimensional movie character." Stewy laughed at his own joke and Kendall wasn't paying attention to the game anymore, but he also didn't look at Stewy, or reply to him either. The previous comforting silence between the men had turned tense, and it lingered for what felt like a couple minutes to Kendall but realistically speaking was just a few seconds. "I'm not saying you're boring, but you so spend all your free time thinking about how shitty your life is or doing drugs to stop thinking about it. There's more out there, get a hobby "
Stwey's tone had stayed relaxed and playful, not really thinking of the conversation as anything more than a slightly more intense that usual banter, but what he said stuck with Kendall for the next couple of weeks. At first it manifested in petty resentment, Kendall didn't call or text Stewy at all for the next few days, not replying to his friend's texts checking up on him about that very serious, life altering problem he can no longer remember. He had specifically said he wasn't calling Kendall boring, but to be completely honest that's what it felt like to him, which in retrospective is probably why Stewy had specified in the first place.
After a few days, instead of slowly wearing off like this sort of thing usually did, the anger turned into self -pity and Kendall spent the next week mopping around his office and asking every poor soul that happened to pass by the glass door if they thought he was boring or not, which admittedly wasn't his proudest moment. After many "uhms" and awkward silences he decided enough was enough and started researching consoles on his work computer.
He didn't want to get a switch, even if it would be a nice way to bond with his kids. If he was trying to find his own personal interests maybe copying exactly what his only friend did wasn't the best way to go- he already tried that in highschool. After some googling and a rather enlightening subreddit deep dive he decided on an Xbox and made the purchase.
It took some trial and error at first, he tried playing FIFA despite never having an interest in soccer and unsurprisingly it wasn't very successful, he tried some shooter games and quickly decided maybe online gaming wasn't his thing, he even tried playing Minecraft because Iverson was obssesed with it but he kept getting lost and couldn't find a way back to the houses he built.
He was close to letting it go, forgetting about it completely and telling Stewy he could shove his unsolicited advice up his ass. The console had been abandoned next to the TV, untouched for a couple days. Kendall alternated between looking at it with disappointment and scrolling through the news he was reading on his laptop when he saw a little ad pop up on his screen after clicking on an article. After his research he got a lot of ads for different games and consoles but none of them really caught his eye, except this one. A cartooney city landscape that looked scarily similar to the view outside his window and a bright text that said "City Skylines, build your own city". It sounded stupid. Actually no, it was stupid. Why would anyone want to spend their time creating fake cartoon cities on a computer? He sat back on his chair and thought about the joy of looking around at the gigantic buildings around him and feeling unimportant, about the satisfaction of perfect squares forming one big city. He clicked the ad.
The first night he downloaded the game he stayed awake until 2 AM, building and perfecting a city he had named "Kentown". When he looked at the clock on the bottom of the screen and he realised what time it was he couldn't help but be a little surprised, he had been sitting there for hours, he hadn't felt so relaxed in ages.
When he found out he enjoyed slowpaced, single player games he quickly started to discover other games he enjoyed, platforms, farming and city-building were his favorite and he slowly started to add new consoles to his collection, besides his now beloved PC.
He always followed his routine strictly, it's what's always kept him grounded since he was a little boy, despite always feeling like he was watching his own life from outside like an spectator, not really able to control it in any way. Soon he found a spot for videogames in it, right after his shower and before bed and sometimes on Sunday mornings if he didn't have the kids. He's not really sure if it's sad to admit it or if he would ever actually say it out loud, but it gave him something to look forward to at the end of the day.
And just like that. it became one of the most constant things he had, even when everything around him was changing and breaking and coming back together again and again and again. When he lost his job after the no-confidence vote, when he lost his family after the bear hug, when he lost himself and he lost Stewy after the accident, when he was trying to slowly piece himself back together again, when he set everything on fire once again on that press conference. He knew he could go back home and forget about himself, get lost in a world that wasn't as difficult as the one he was living in.
So now that it's his 40th birthday and Naomi is softly caressing his head with her fingers, he's not surprised when finds himself asking her if she can bring him his switch and stay with him while he plays. She nods and gives him a smile before carefully putting a pillow under his head to replace her thigh and walking into the bedroom to find the console. He sighs, he feels sad and numb but he also can still appreciate the kindness and gentleness she's been showing him all night, even after complaining about her birthday gift, Kendall doesn't think he deserves her.
His phone vibrates in his pocket and he reaches under the blanket to get it, there's very few people he has notifications on for, so it must be important in one way or another. The thoughts about not deserving Naomi intensify when he instinctively looks up to make sure she's still out of sight when he reads Stewy's name on the screen. Kendall's pretty surprised to see that he texted him, after some deliberation he had decided not to invite him to the party, fueled by fear of getting rejected and not being able to cope with it. He opens the text.
"Happy Birthday. Come get your gift when you have the guts to talk to me"
Attached was a picture of what Kendall easily recognized as Stewy's living room table, he had done enough lines off it to know it by tact alone. There were two controllers on it, one plain and black -the one he had always seen Stewy use- and the other a familiar shade of green with a letter K on it, he smiled a little.
"That's some corny shit dude"
"I guess I'm feeling sentimental, birthdays have that effect on me sometimes"
Kendall typed a couple of replies, from "Thanks" to "I miss you" to a long paragraph apologizing for everything that had happened between them, but in the end he just tucked the phone back in his pocket and waited for Naomi to come back.
He had meant to go visit Stewy earlier, he really did, but as usual his own life had different plans than him and now he's standing at Stewy's apartment door, still wearing his white shirt and his sand stained pants, completely jetlagged and exhausted from the flight back from Italy.
Kendall's met with a familiar poker face and a delightfulyl messy head of brown curls when Stewy opens the door, wearing his pajamas.
"You wanna show me who that Zelda chick is now or what?"

Thou Shalt Not Fall - The Past: Homecoming
Link, Mask, and Tune all return from the final battle with Cia, but Link doesn't seem to be feeling better. TW: somebody intentional his hands, although the reason has nothing to do with emotional distress or mental illness. To skip this paragraph, it starts with "Mask could only watch in stunned silence". Just jump to the next paragraph and you should be okay (but do tell me otherwise!). This is the start of something I call 'The Past Arc' because I am Very Original and Very Creative. This was what the people on Tumblr voted for. It's slated to have four parts but I am not good at estimating. Also, sorry in advance for typos - I've been working on this chapter on and off for like six months and I'm a little tired of looking at it.
[Previous] - [Next]
View the Master Post here!
When Time was a child, a child who was simultaneously a mature adult who saw too much of the world and a child who felt too small for it, he met two other Heroes named Link.
The first kept his name, since he and the other Link, an older kid in blue, were unintentional guests and that was putting it mildly. He was dubbed Mask, for the masks he carried, and the other was called Tune, as he was a conductor and liked to hum or sing to himself when he was bored. Mask became close to both of them. He viewed both of them as the Hylian brothers he never had and even though he tried not to become attached to people he would have to leave, he loved them both.
But much to his annoyance, those bonds had to be tested, because after his final battle with Cia, Link started acting strangely.
Mask didn't notice anything until a few days after the fight, when they first returned to the castle. Zelda let the three Links stay in the castle, as Tune and Mask didn't have a way to return home as of yet and Link said the barracks were his home and Zelda decided that wouldn't do. Tune and Mask shared a room and Link stayed in a separate one down the hall, somewhere between their room and Zelda's office. The room was far too large and lavish for Mask's taste, with two of the biggest beds he ever saw, covered with blankets that seemed too precious for him to use. There were chests that he and Tune could fit inside of just for clothes, some giant table with an attached mirror that was painted white, and there was even an balcony outside. Although he couldn't see himself spending much time in the room, he picked a bed as soon as the room was offered the room and slept through the morning, staying in bed until about nine in the morning. Tune woke up a bit earlier than he did.
Link on the other hand, didn't get up until well past three in the afternoon.
Mask and Tune found him with his face buried in the pillow, his hair sticking up in all directions. Mask was pretty sure he was drooling, surely a sign of how deeply asleep he still was. Tune started laughing while Mask just huffed at him, deciding to try to shake Link awake. Proxi came out from a pile of fabric on the beside table that Mask soon recognized as Link's scarf and went straight to him.
“I'm glad you two are here! No matter what I do, I just can't wake him up! Impa thought he needed the sleep since hasn't fully recovered from the battle, but this seems... excessive,” she mumbled, her glow dimming slightly.
That made Tune stop laughing. He went over to his bed and climbed on it, since the bed was fairly large and Link was sleeping right in the middle of it. Even with Tune being surprisingly tall and lanky, he wouldn't have been able to really reach without going on the bed. “Hey. It's time to get up,” Tune said, putting a hand on his bare shoulder and shaking him. He didn't respond at first, so Tune did it again.
“Hey! Link!” Mask called out as Tune continued to shake him. Finally, Link opened his eyes, squinting in their direction.
“Link?” Proxi asked.
“Hmmmm. Whatimeisst?”
“Past three in the afternoon,” Mask mumbled.
If nothing else, Link heard that, and immediately bolted up. “Why didn't anyone wake me? And why is it so damn bright in here?” he asked as he rubbed aggressively at his eyes. Eventually, he seemed to just settle for digging the heels of his hands into his eyes and keeping them there. Tune scrunched his face, studying Link closely.
“Impa thought you must have needed it,” Proxi answered, fluttering by his head. He lowered his hands and just stared into the covers, his eyelids beginning to fall.
“Are you sick?” Mask asked. He never saw the captain so out of it before. As far as Mask knew, Link's wounds weren't that serious and he was able to walk most of the way back to the castle by himself, but that could change and change quickly. “Maybe we should check your wounds.”
Link didn't respond. Instead, he collapsed against the the pillows, his breathing already deepening.
“I guess he must be,” Proxi muttered.
Link thought he knew what exhaustion felt like. He knew what it felt like to wake up after after losing a lot of blood. He knew what it felt like to be up all night trying to plan and fight with barely any sleep. This... this felt different. It felt like sleeping wasn't helping at all, that there was something deeper to his exhaustion than amount of sleep he was getting. He never needed so much sleep before and yet, it wasn't enough. It was never enough.
Sleeping until well into the afternoon, sometimes sleeping until dinner, wasn't the only thing that was new.
Mask and Tune were in the kitchens, helping out the chefs as they cooked dinner. Their way home had yet to appear and while they didn't want to say goodbye, it was making the two of them antsy and eager to just do... something helpful. They both agreed that it couldn't be good if they were still around, especially since most of the time displaced heroes already went home. For some reason, it was them, Ravio, and a nice girl named Marin that was still sticking around. If their work was done, surely they would have been allowed to return like the others.
Tune was singing what he called a shanty to himself, not at all shy about who was listening. He was the only one in the room who knew the words but Mask and the chefs hummed along to it. It was actually kind of fun, even if Mask had to stand on a stool to reach the counters and all he was allowed to do was stir the pot. Usually, he would be more bothered but considering he never did learn how to cook after all this time, he was actually perfectly happy stirring the pot. The only thing that bothered was the fact that at one point, he could have reached the counter without the stool.
Suddenly, the door opened and Link wandered inside.
“Ah, Link! What can we do for you?” one of the chefs, an older lady with her greying hair tied into a bun.
“Mind if I just look around?”
“Sure!” She sounded happy but Mask didn't miss the confusion laced into her voice. “Just don't get in the way.”
He nodded and entered the room. Mask, making sure he was still stirring the pot, watched as Link opened cabinets, dug through the pantry, and even disappeared into the cool room. He was clearly looking for something and apparently, he couldn't find it. That was until Link suddenly emerged from the cool room with a slab of raw meat in his hands.
“Mind if I take this?”
The chefs looked at him as if he grew a second head. He took their stunned silence as a 'yes' apparently, because he thanked them and walked away.
Mask later learned from Proxi that Link actually just... ate it like that. Raw and chewy.
Tune was strangely calm about it. In fact, he had the same look on his face that Link usually did when he was trying to figure out a plan.
The raw meat helped. It wasn't exactly what he was craving but it was a lot closer than anything else he tried to eat. Still though. It wasn't right. It wasn't what he wanted needed. What was it though? What did he need? Why was he always hungry? It didn't matter how much he ate, he was never full. His stomach became a never-ending pit.
He was hungry. So hungry...
Link suddenly had a lot more sun burns than usual.
During those days where Link was awake in the afternoon, Mask, Tune, and Proxi always tried to take him out to spar to get some exercise and fresh air. He was starting to spend a lot of time cooped up inside, spending most of his time in his room scrutinizing documents and notes, looking for something that was off although what that could be, Link didn't say. Mask didn't know what he was looking for and not even Link seemed to know what he was looking for, aside from 'something not right'. However, with some careful phrasing and appeals to the tactical side of him, they managed to get him outside to practice a couple of hours a day.
And at first, it went great. Link didn't go easy on either of them. If anything, he seemed a little stronger than usual, putting more force behind his attacks than normal. Oh, he hated the idea of them being on the battlefield but in a spar, he went all out.
After the first day, his cheeks were bright red and Mask' face hurt just looking at him. It was like they were sparring in the Gerudo Desert and not in a military ground with soft grass and dirt. After a couple of days, his face was peeling and strangely bumpy and it was at that point that Tune dragged him into Zelda's office. She quickly disappeared and then came back with a bottle full of something green, which she smothered all over her hands. Link winced as Zelda started rubbing some type of lotion all over his face.
“Ah, Zelda-” he started, hissing in pain as he did so.
“This will help, trust me. How did this happen though?”
Link merely shrugged.
“I'm worried about you, you know. You hardly visit. I barely see you anymore even though we're both in the castle.”
“Sorry.”
“Don't be. You know you can talk to me about anything, right?”
Finally, Link offered a smile. “Yeah, I know.”
Link went through every medical document he could find but nothing matched up with the symptoms he was feeling. The exhaustion, the sudden sensitivity of his skin, the craving he couldn't figure out, the constant, gnawing hunger... he couldn't find anything that linked them all together. Why was it so hard to find what was wrong? He supposed he could visit the healers in the castle, but something in his gut told him not to.
Proxi sat on the top of his head, peering down at the documents on his desk.
“Did you find what you were looking for yet?”
“Not yet.”
It got to the point where Link refused to leave his room and only Proxi was allowed in. He locked the door to keep everybody out, and he just kept his window open, so Tune and Mask made sure that their window was open to give Proxi another way back into the castle. They were sure that Link wasn't trying to lock her in there, but he was definitely anxious about something.
“He isn't well,” she mumbled as she sat on Mask's shoulder. It was a clear night and Mask wasn't ready to go to sleep yet, so he decided to admire the world from his window. Although there was a bit of space between the castle and the rest of Castletown, like the way it was like in his own era, he could still see lights coming from the town. Or city. It was more like a city. It kind of reminded him of Clock Town.
“In what way?” Tune asked, squaring his shoulders. He had the face that Link would use he was thinking, his eyebrows knitting together and mouth pulled into what Mask thought looked like a thoughtful frown. He couldn't help but to think that maybe Tune knew more about Link's odd behaviour as of late than anybody else. It was almost like he was waiting for something.
“He seems to be in pain and I don't think he's had anything to eat since the raw piece of meat,” she answered. “He's either asleep all the time or awake and fidgety. He's definitely out of it too.”
“Hmm... is he making any unusual noises? Like hissing or growling?”
He definitely knew more. How?
Proxi nodded solemnly. “And his magic feels weird too, like it's tainted or corrupted somehow. Well, it felt like that since we came back from the Valley of Seers but I thought it was because he was exposed to so much of Cia's magic and it would go away after a bit! It's only gotten worse though.”
Suddenly, there was banging down the hall.
“Mask, go get Impa and meet me at Link's door, alright? Make sure she's armed.”
Mask nodded and left the room, ignoring the continuing banging coming from Link's room. He knew Impa wasn't hard to find, she was always with Zelda and Zelda was either in her room and in her office these days. He went to the office first and he was happy to find that the door was open, letting light spill into the hallway. Impa was just beside the doorway in the office as Zelda worked at her desk.
“Mask? What is it?” she asked when she spotted him standing in the hallway.
“There's something wrong with Link,” Proxi answered with a frown. He wished he knew what was wrong but at least Tune seemed to know. Impa looked to Zelda, who turned in her seat to look at them. “He isn't well but we think there's something more serious going on. Tune said that Impa should come armed.”
Zelda bit her lips but she didn't need to be told twice. She was instantly out in the hallway, following Mask and Proxi back to Link's room with Impa hot on their heels, hand on the handle of her giant sword. It didn't take long to reach his room, where the banging ceased but the loud noises inside didn't.
Tune was standing outside with what looked like the curtains in their room, cut into long threads.
“Tune? What's going on?”
“We don't have a lot of time so I'll explain later. We have to make sure he can't hurt himself or anybody else first. Impa, you're the strongest here so you have to hold him down. He'll probably try to attack us.”
Zelda's eyes were glued to the door. She looked completely distraught but took a deep breath and looked to Impa.
“Try not to hurt him too badly.”
“I'll do my best. There's no promises, though.”
“Mask, open the door. Impa, are you ready?”
Impa nodded. Mask gulped and turned the door knob slowly, then pulled the door open. The effect was instantaneous. Mask looked into the room for all of one second before Link was practically flying at him, his eyes a glowing yellow, lips pulled back into a wicked snarl and revealing canines that were far too large. Tune pulled him out of the way just as Impa raised her foot, her foot landing squarely in the middle of his chest. He hit the floor, clearly stunned.
Tune and Impa didn't hesitate to take advantage of it either. Impa sat on his back, settling her legs on either side of his hips and twisting his arms behind his back. He snarled and hissed, trying to buck her off as Tune tied one of his curtain strips around his wrists with some sort of complicated knot. Tune then moved on to his feet.
Mask could only watch in stunned silence, wringing his hands together as Tune withdrew a knife from his boot and used it cut his palm open. He shoved his bloody palm over Link's mouth. Link stopped moving, his eyes now completely focused on Tune's hand.
“Zelda, Mask, tie him up more. Leave one for later,” Tune commanded. Zelda was the only one who moved to follow his instructions, leaving Impa to help her. Mask found that he couldn't move though and he couldn't fight the tears welling up in his eyes either. Dammit, he hated crying, he hated being reminded that he looked like a child, but he was so worried. What happened to Link? Where did the man he regarded as his older brother go? What replaced him?
Thankfully, the snarling and hissing ceased completely as Tune pulled his bloodied hand away.
“What... what happened?” Link asked, his voice hoarse and quiet. His eyes were still yellow, pools of yellow encased in a red ring that Mask hadn't noticed before, but he could recognize the Link he did know within them. At least Link wasn't gone, but who knew how long he would be around for? “Where's Proxi? What's going on?”
Proxi flew, hovering in front of his face. “I'm here Link, don't worry!”
“Link... you're a vampire,” Tune mumbled. “This isn't your fault but we still have to restrain you for the time being. That wasn't nearly enough blood for you. I'm sorry.”
“A what? Somebody tell me what's going on!” he said in a low growl.
“We'll figure out the details later!” Zelda answered, raising her voice slightly. “Link, try to remain calm, alright? Impa, please summon a wagon and a soldier who can keep a secret. There's a noble family made up of vampires and I'm sure they can help.”
Impa nodded and jumped to her feet, stepping over Link and running past Mask, who was still just standing there, his feet glued to the ground. He was a hero, he should be able to act under pressure, to move forward even though he was scared. Link needed help and support and Mask just froze.
“Zelda... I'm scared.”
More tears welled up in Mask's eyes. Link sounded so small and vulnerable.
“We know, Link. We know. Just hang in there for us, okay?” Proxi said, pressing a delicate hand on his forehead.
“Impa, I'm trusting you to safely deliver Link to House Donte. Take Tune along with you, he seems to know what's going on. Make the preparations and come back for Link and Tune. Finally, make sure that Donte house knows that we are aware that they have nothing to do with what happened to Link.”
Impa nodded and took off running. Tune stayed behind and moved to sit beside Link, who turned his head away to ignore all of them. Mask almost joined them but instead, he found his eyes focused at the upturn furniture, the documents Link spent the past week studying tossed carelessly on the floor when the desk was flipped over. The curtains were torn, as were the bed sheets. A chair was smashed into pieces. Mask took a deep breath and turned to Zelda.
“I want to go with them.”
She frowned. “I need you to stay here. With Link and Tune gone, we'll need a hero to stay here in case something happens in their absence. The fact that you haven't gone home concerns me. There must be something brewing in the background. We can't afford to relax just yet.”
Mask frowned. As much as he wanted to be there with Link, who was definitely going through one of the scariest and most confusing moments of his life, he could understand Zelda's reasoning too. In a rare moment of clarity in the adults around him, they were seeing past the child-like frame and seeing him for the hero he was and they needed him. It would be tough but he needed to be at the castle.
Link would have Tune, at least.
Proxi left Link's side and zoomed to Mask's side. “Don't worry, Mask! I will stay with you and help keep an extra pair of eyes on the kingdom.”
“What about Link?” he asked.
“I know he would be worried about you and Tune.”
Mask took a deep breath. “Okay. Tune, you have to take good care of him until he gets there, okay?”
Tune nodded and threw up a salute. “You got it!”
“Zelda, what is a vampire?”
Tune and Impa gagged Link and hauled him away two hours ago and Mask found himself unable to sleep. How could be expected to try and sleep now knowing that Link was struggling and scared? Mask found himself in Zelda's office where Zelda was busy shifting through all the books in her shelves, seemingly trying to find one in particular. Proxi kept her promise and stayed by his side, sitting on his shoulder like she often did when she decided to hang out with him instead of Link.
“They are beings who survive by drinking the blood of other beings,” Zelda answered simply. “They're very rare in Hyrule but they're more common in other kingdoms. They can be very dangerous when they're starving or if they simply don't care about people, but plenty of vampires coexist peacefully with people in other kingdoms.”
Hmm. Interesting. It would explain why he hasn't heard of them in Hyrule but he did travel outside of the kingdom before, and hadn't heard of them there either. He wondered what kingdoms she could be talking about.
“So that noble family then...” Proxi mumbled.
“They are vampires, yes. Vampires can live for centuries so they've risen to the status of nobles simply by staying alive longer than any other family. They share their wealth and title with a Hylian family to hide though, so most people in Hyrule wouldn't know that vampires live there.”
“And you're sure they can help Link?”
“They have no other choice. Both of us want to keep the existence of vampires away from the public, so they will have to help him if they want him to keep their secret,” Zelda said quietly as she finally seemed to have found the book she was looking for. “This is a book about vampires, although this was written from the perspective of getting rid of them... but it might still be helpful. It came from Holodrum but it was translated into Hylian.”
“You just have a book on vampires just sitting on your shelf?” Proxi asked.
“I got this library from my grandmother,” Zelda said with a shrug. “I'll go through it tonight and see if there's anything in here we should know about. Of course, Impa and Tune might also have insights from House Donte. We'll meet up and discuss this when everybody is back.”
Tune and Impa returned three days later without Link. Mask expected that. There was no way that Link would learn everything he needed to know to navigate his new world in a span of a couple of hours. Neither Tune or Impa said much of the trip, just that the family did take him in and that Zelda's message was delivered.
When two weeks passed though, Mask was starting to worry.
“I'm sure he'll be back!” Proxi said as she spun around his head before settling down on his shoulder. “He wouldn't abandon his friends and he wouldn't abandon the kingdom.”
“I suppose.”
He looked to Tune, who was busy polishing his sword in the room they continued to share. He didn't seem worried at all. Quieter than normal, sure, but he didn't seem to be worried like Mask was. It reminded Mask of how the fact that he didn't seem all that surprised that Link was a vampire. In fact, he was the reason why they could properly restrain Link with minimal injuries to Link. It was like he knew what to what to do before he even saw Link, like he done it before.
“You have future knowledge, don't you?”
Tune sighed. “Yeah. I just don't know how much I can say. This is my present but I know his future.”
Time travel could be strange like that.
“He does come back. I can promise you that. I know this isn't over yet. He won't leave the job half finished.”
“Thank you,” Mask mumbled. It did make him feel a little bit better.

You’ve mentioned including Spirit and the tfh Links in The Incredibles AU and although this is probably a bit spoilery to ask; could you tell us a little about them?
FOR SURE :D *gently holds all four of them* I just think they’re neat
...And you’re right that it’s a bit spoilery, but I’m assuming that since you’re asking you don’t mind terribly much about that? Here’s your spoiler warning anyways though! A lot of after-movie stuff here.
It’s also really long XD
So you’re aware of the small timeskip in the Incredibles after they defeat Syndrome (a couple months I think? Two? Three?) yeah? Well since Sky is finally home after being missing for more than a year, he and Sun take the time in the skip there to just take it easy so he can rest and heal, maybe even get away for a weekend for a little vacation or something without Aryll (who’s about three or four)
And somewhere after that, Sun finds out she’s expecting again!
Triplets! 🎉
...Sky promptly faints.
They’re not born until after the second movie would happen (...I think, I might have to check my timeline) but their names are Crimson, Azure, and Sage (thank you Tellie for talking about me with names <3)
They’d all be blond if not for the influence of their powers (kinda like Legend with his pink) but if any of them ever didn’t use their powers for a long stretch of time, it’d probably fade a little.
Crimson is the oldest of the three, and got his name from his shock of red hair (he looks like Malon! How did that even happen?! Legend yells) but also the superhero names of his father and grandfather. His power is simply a super powerful punch (think like the tiger miraculous from ML) but uh... sometimes he forgets how strong it is. Oops. He can be a little dumb, but he always means well, and is fiercely protective of his brothers.
Azure is in the middle, named for his eyes, but also his hair that’s allllmost blue if you squint. His powers are basically “plagued by visions” 🤣 I thought it’d be nice to reference sksw Link’s visions he gets, and also lean into powers Zelda typically has (since Azure is blue and blue is wisdom), so he often has visions of the future when he’s asleep (and as he gets older, when he’s awake too), but he can also create shields a lot like Hyrule’s. Think Nayru’s love from oot. He’s the quietest of the three, and also the smartest.
Sage is the youngest, named for his unnaturally green eyes (and his grandmother’s maiden name) and I’m still conflicted about his powers honestly XD Courage doesn’t have very many specific “powers” attributed to it, so me and Tellie have batted ideas around a couple times. She suggested maybe he can imbue things with courage, objects so they can help him, people so they can get past their fears. Despite thinking about this for months I’m still not sure if I want to go with that, so his powers are still a little up in the air.
...I did have the thought that maybe I could lean into the dragon aspect of things and have Sage’s powers be lightning-related like Farosh from botw (would also make a cool superhero name) but once again... still haven’t decided XD if anyone has ideas or anything I will not complain.
Now for Spirit! I don’t have as much on him yet as of now but I’m working on it 👍
Spirit is Warriors and Artemis’ son, born after years of trying (and not succeeding) to have kids. He’s born either right after the second movie or during it (...once again, I’ll have to find my timeline) and his parents are both ecstatic.
Wind promptly decides he’s going to be the same kind of uncle to Spirit that Warriors was for him, so the two of them are really close, and Spirit looks up to him a lot.
Spirit’s powers I haven’t specifically thought out, but I’m pretty sure I’m going with just seeing ghosts? That seems a little plain so maybe he’s got something else too, but I haven’t thought of anything good/better. Suggestions and/or comments are always appreciated :)

HELLO AND WELCOME TO
me trying to write the backstories for all the Links in Linked Universe, actually finishing all the backstories!
Let's start with Sky's!
Despite being a day of Autumn, a period of time people on Earth could call the month of November, that day was sunny and fresh. The sky was totally clear, if not for that cloud barrier under the island, and the loftwings with their hylian friends were flying and tweeting happily.
It was just like a fairy tale.
That day, a baby boy was born.
Son of one of the best knights of Skyloft, the commander of an army ready to save everyone and also experts of combat and island defense. His mother instead was a great artist and the best tailor in town, the one in charge of making the knight tunics for the students of the academy who passed the wing ceremony, she also made clothes with different patterns she created.
For their baby, they chose a really special name, Link. It was common to name the kids after some (believed extinct) small bird breeds the inhabitants could find in a huge book at the academy.
But "Link" wasn't in that book. They just liked the meaning of the name and how it sounded, and decided the tradition wasn't going to stop them.
His mother was the best friend of the academy headmaster's wife. The headmaster, Gaepora, became a close friend of Link's father when he got married with Link's mother.
When Link was born, Gaepora's wife was expecting a baby, and in case it was a girl she liked the name Zelda, a name that had gone unused for a long time. She too refused to follow the tradition.
Regardless of their gender, the two besties decided their kids would spend their time together to hopefully be besties like their mothers.
Link was a happy and lively kid. Often sleeping, but he loved looking at his mother working or painting. He loved Zelda's mother too, he and his mom were in her room the moment she gave birth to her baby girl some time later, in the month humans on Earth called July, with Gaepora and few doctors. And they were there too when she started to feel unwell right after her child was born, the doctors shouted something, and and then Link quickly found himself in his mom's arms as she held him and the newborn Zelda tight at her chest, and brought them away from that room that was now becoming a place of death instead of birth.
Zelda was fed with Link's bottle, put into some blankets, and then Gaepora came and sang a lullaby that made both the kids sleep peacefully, unaware Zelda's mother had had serious complications and didn't make it.
The day after, Link's mother realized all that happened. She was desperate.
For more than 2 years she refused to get out of her home and meet people. She worked so hard as a way to cope she could finish the work of a year in only a few months. 10 years in about 2 and a half years. But wait, she wasn’t a bad mother at all! She loved her son, she knew great bedtime stories, she cooked well, she hugged him a lot, and he loved drawing, learning things from her, and going to the bazaar with his father, and telling both his parents he would become the greatest knight one day.
But still, he mostly lived at home, and so he didn’t really have friends.
In the meantime, the little Zelda was growing up around lots of people. Her father was the headmaster of the Knight Academy after all, and while he was too busy to give her attention she would play with Henya, with the other professors, and with some students. Living in an academy meant she would sneak into the classrooms to get hugs, crawling at first, then with a walker, and then walking and running on her own. She met so many people during the day, but her father knew she could feel she lacked something. He was trying so hard to fill that void, even if he knew he couldn’t even be half as good as his wife in bedtime stories, in those cute silly games kids liked, and in a variety of other things.
Link’s mother let time heal her. When Link was 3 years old, she decided it was time to meet Zelda and Gaepora again, and hopefully let Link and Zelda be friends.
That day he was with both his mother and father. The fact his mother was outside, walking with them towards the academy, felt strange for him, in a good way of course, he was happy to see her finally getting some fresh air! And looking at all the loftwings flying above!
Link had been many times at the academy before that tragic event, but couldn’t remember it, he was too young. He just thought the place looked familiar and great.
Many people, mostly professors and other members of the staff, recognized the kid as the commander’s son and acted like they had known him forever. Instead, he had never met anyone except for his parents and the nice sellers at the bazaar. He felt anxious and embarrassed. When Gaepora reached the family to greet them and reassure them he could understand Link’s mother perfectly, the little boy felt overwhelmed by the too many people around him. He ran upstairs, found a slightly open door and got in, only to find Zelda laid on her bed, looking at some illustrations in a book. They were about animals, flowers, trees, and various places he didn’t know.
Zelda jumped off her bed and greeted him. She was so excited! He was the only kid her age she had ever met. Well, same for Link. She noticed he didn’t really know what to do, so she handed him her book, and suggested looking at the images together, saying that since they couldn’t read, they could think up some names for all those unknown animals and plants. She thought everything in the book wasn’t real, they must have been some creatures from fantasy stories, the ones her father tried to tell her before going to sleep, only for him to fall asleep before her.
The atmosphere was great, and the kids spent quality time together, looking at the pictures and guessing names, until Link’s parents found them. They were worried, they thought he got lost in the academy, or got out without telling them. Instead the kids were now friends, and they would become best friends in no time.
Some years passed, and the kids were every year closer to each other. Link’s mother had invited Zelda to sleep at her home when she felt like listening to bedtime stories, and Zelda loved to bring history books with her, so they often ended up reading something that felt unreal, imaginary, but was in fact real, they just didn’t know it. Zelda had her own new bed in Link’s house, her own mug, and her own chair at the table. Of course, Link was given a bed in the academy for when he wanted to stay there, and sneak into the kitchen in the morning to eat Henya’s perfect breakfast, and then into the classrooms to listen to some history lessons.
When Link started going to school at age 6, Zelda followed him, starting to attend the lessons one year in advance. She had learnt to read and write early, her father taught her and Link the basics when she wasn't even 5 years old. She knew a lot more than other kids, so she integrated perfectly. The other kids loved to be around her, she was the "little one", and the headmaster's daughter! However, while still liking her new friends, Zelda remained as close to Link as before, nothing changed. Link was sometimes seen as an obstacle in the other kids' views though, the one that was always with Zelda. The fact the two were the best students in their classroom didn’t help.
One day, a huge cloud formation appeared in the sky, completely covering some of the best little islands the Skyloftians knew. Link’s father and his army investigated the situation but at least then they couldn’t find anything relevant. The small floating islands were still there, intact, and aside from being humid and dark, that place looked kinda… natural.
Some days later, at the start of Spring, the kids got their loftwings. Link’s one arrived later compared to the other kids his age. He should have gotten his the year before, with the kids born during his same year, but his loftwing didn’t show up and he got convinced by everyone around that his feathered friend was “Zelda’s loftwing’s bestie” and they would show up together the year after. Some kids like Groose started addressing him as the kid without a loftwing, or “Mr. no loftwing”.
Luckily, one year later his crimson loftwing showed up and surprised everyone with its rarity, its brightness, and its regality. It looked like it was sent by the goddess Hylia herself!
The knights hadn’t noticed anything in the thunderhead because the parasite hiding there was still invisible and it hadn’t reproduced on a large scale yet. But its replication speed increased exponentially, and in no time those pests got on everyone who ventured into or near the thunderhead, then bringing them on the mainland. The effects of the parasites were catastrophic, with burning fevers, headaches and loss of strength. The infected people were either forced in their beds or acted like zombies.
Everyone with knowledge on parasites and medical issues on Skyloft reunited to find a solution. Luckily, the kids weren’t affected, or not as much as elders or fragile people.
Link and Zelda were some of the first kids to get ill, but healed in a short time as their young, strong and healthy bodies weren't a good habitat for the ultra small monsters.
However, Link's mother was in the fragile category, even though she didn't know it. In fact, she was, still unknowingly, carrying Link's younger sibling with her. She got infected, the parasites quickly took over the fetus and then her, leaving her body really few chances of surviving…
Link was almost 7 years old.
He was given his personal room at the academy, pretty much like Zelda had her own. His father had healed perfectly from the infection and was ready to find the source of the illness and defeat it, for the safety of everyone, but mostly to avenge the death of his adorable and skilled wife, Link’s mother. He was often out for work, and Link couldn't live alone.
His new room was bigger than his former one, even though it was the only place he could consider his, instead of an entire home.
The kids tried to fill their newly opened gap by learning Link's mom's favorite activities. Zelda had been taught the basics of sewing some years before, she had never given it a chance though, maybe now was the right time. Link needed to do something too! As he already knew how to draw and often illustrated his and Zelda's loftwings, he technically had learnt one of her favorite activities. However, only the thought of doing nothing new in her honor made him feel bad, he had to do something for her! Then, he had an idea: he could make his mom the gift of turning her drawings into something real. He asked around, and he found out wood carving was a thing. In a relatively short time, Link had become a new kind of artist. Of course, the loftwings were his favorite subjects. And he loved to see Zelda making small clothes for his little creations!
The knights took a few years to defeat all the parasites. But they couldn’t, even by using all their knowledge, do any scratch to the thunderhead. Not even the help of Levias, a huge and wise Sky Spirit, could do anything. However, Levias suggested that he could live in the thunderhead to watch over it, so he could inform the knights of anything suspicious. The Sky Spirit, though, didn't know he had been infected. The effects on him were different than those the Hylians showed. In fact, the parasite began slowly growing inside him.
When Link was 11 years old, Levias had ceased to send regular information on the thunderhead. The knights, guided by Link’s father, went investigating, only to find the Sky Spirit corrupted, the parasite had grown inside him at the point it took control of him and had become huge. Bylocite.
The knights tried everything, but the monster was totally unknown to them and they couldn't guess any of its next moves. Their loftwings got scarred and muted into skeletal monsters, making the knights fall and disappear. Link’s father and his loftwing got hit too, managed to escape, but by the time they got back on Skyloft they had already lost all of their strength and too much blood. They both died shortly after having informed the professors on what was happening. Levias's name wasn't to be pronounced anymore, Link wasn't even informed on the cause of his father's death.
Only Pumm, the owner of Lumpy Pumpkin, could send a knight there once a year, only to leave his famous soup and get out as fast as possible. It was Levias's favorite, everyone hoped it would help.
Link and Zelda got closer, Link found comfort in wood carving and playing with Zelda, he was also determined to become the best knight and, maybe one day, find what killed his father and defeat it.
As he had become the best of his classmates, even being able to challenge the senior students, Groose began bullying him. He wasn’t really in shape to fight back, he had so much to process in those times, so Zelda took his back, defending him every time. Of course, this led to the bullies making fun of Link for being saved by his "girlfriend" (though they weren't in a relationship).
Link didn't let anything and anybody stop his determination though, he was the first to get into the classroom, the one who asked the most questions and who trained the most. He loved to fly with his companion and to improve his sword techniques by exercising in his room. This led to his window being broken several times, and the loftwings used the hole to get their heads in the room to be pet, or to bring Link various things.
It happened so many times Gaepora decided to completely replace the window with a wooden one.
Zelda, of course, taught her companion to bring Link letters.
When Link was about 14 Zelda had started to have frequent sleepless nights, and he would always stay with her and try to make her relax and hopefully fall asleep. She told Link images of monsters and destruction would often appear once she closed her eyes, and even if she had tried everything to make them stop, they were there, getting worse in her short sleep and bringing nightmares.
Luckily, this lasted only a few months. But both Link and Zelda couldn't get to class in time during that time, and had to work hard to keep up with the other students. This led to them, especially Link, to mess up their sleeping schedule, and it led Link to get bullied more.
Nothing strange happened for about 3 years, only that Zelda sometimes heard sounds, more like an unclear voice, coming from below. She got used to it though, and as nobody else could hear the voice she kept the thing for herself. Link had returned to sleep well, almost sleeping too much. He found out he missed sleeping more than he imagined, at the point Zelda began calling him sleepyhead. Link found out he didn't mind the nickname, in fact he kinda liked it when said by her, well maybe because he had started to like everything about her. Though, he was afraid she wouldn't feel the same, so he decided to keep his feelings a secret.
Then, it was his turn for nightmares. Visions of his loftwing abandoning him, visions of Zelda falling off hers, a huge monster eating Zelda, someone holding Zelda's dead body and much more. Mostly, he hated those dreams in which Zelda was in danger and he was too late to save her or he was unable to move. He would shiver in his sleep, scream, or move enough to fall from his bed.
He would get to class already tired, he spent his free time in the day trying to sleep from exhaustion rather than exercising with his loftwing.
His grades, luckily, didn't change that much, as he could at least study when he couldn't sleep.
He didn't really want to annoy everyone so he tried to hide it, being seen as lazy, weak, or with his head in the clouds in return.
In the meantime, the thunderhead had gotten a thicker cloud barrier, it was impossible for everyone to get in, and Pumm stopped making soup for Levias, that was still possessed, even if nobody had seen him after what happened with Link's father. Maybe Levias still had some senses and decided to hide from the Hylians so he could avoid killing people.
The academic year had almost come to an end and Link's situation hadn't changed at all. At least, Zelda was always there for him, so beautiful, strong, wise, and sometimes chaotic. He was sure his feelings for her would never change…
The day of the Wing ceremony had finally arrived.
------
After the adventure, he and Zelda decided to live on the surface, as the goddess Hylia had intended for all the inhabitants of Skyloft (or at least, Zelda said so). The two had started to imagine what a future village would look like, and found the perfect place on the border of Faron Woods with the help of the locals, Sheikah included. The tribe left them some hints on how to find them, and when they met they offered them a temporary house and all the hospitality they could give.
Link and Zelda, now an established couple, were going to invite some other civilians, like Groose or Gaepora, to the Surface. They called their loftwings, that surprisingly heard them, and headed to Skyloft. Zelda managed to land safely, while a huge portal opened in front of Link and his crimson loftwing. Link disappeared, while his loftwing went through and past the portal like it didn't exist or have any mass at all…

From ashes
characters: Navy Starfeather, Acacia moonblossom, Kit Sunchaser, August the Tawny, and Edia Darkmoon
summary: family is never simple. And sometimes when your older brother who killed the rest of your family is trying to take over the country, you have to get your best friend, your partners, and also that kid who won't leave you alone to go take him down.
The laskian islands
Characters: Eryl, Rona, Griffith, and Cahira
Summary: surprise! Everything is getting out of control and the elements have granted you magic powers but refuse to tell you what they want you to do with them. And here you thought watching the championship game for your college football team in person would be the most interesting thing you would do.
Rocky mountain sunsets
Characters: Aiden, David, and Chris
Summary: aiden was trans and the perfect relief society 'sister'. David was bi and the bishops son. For both of them, the closet is comfortable and safe. So when they bump into each other at a pride parade, both are terrified of being ratted out, both forgetting to ask why the other was there to bump into in the first place. Davids older brother Chris makes some assumptions, and they decide to play along. It's easier that way.
Unnamed magical boy story
Characters: Tyler, Zach, Razor, Logan, Avery
Summary: by day? Regular high school students. Also by day, usually? They are the magical boys [team name] of [city], here to protect the people from the dark powers of apathy and homework!
...Just apathy? Oh. Okay then.
Hyrule Library for the supernatural
Characters: Link and Zelda (breath of the wild)
Summary: it's been 2/3 (I'm still working on the timeline) years since Zelda and Link beat the calamity. Since then they've settled down in hateno, but Zelda still yearns for knowledge. She picks up the study of the supernatural, abandoned one hundred years ago, but she and Link may end up in over their heads far more than they expected.
bluedancer forever
characters: Orchid, Orange, Daisy, and Hyacinth Bluedancer
Summary: when Hyacinth was little, Daisy found him shivering under a park bench alone. Since then, he's always been apart of the family. It hasn't always been easy, but none of them would have it any other way.
(un)professional
characters: Prince Leon, Alex
summary: After a failed assassination on his oldest brother, Leon gets assigned a guard. As the fifth child and waaay back in line for the throne, he feels it’s perhaps a tad unnecessary. At least the guard’s cute at least?
The Hour of Our Death
Characters: Maya and Zoe
This city wasnt always empty. But apocalypses have a tendency to make ghost towns of cities that used to be home. You're the only ones left now. You and the girl who you can't quite remember right. You both know how this story ends. But maybe you can play pretend a little while longer.
Sounds like a skill issue:
Characters: Arin, Kaden, Daniel, Livvy, Mech-Kenzie
Local space polycule causes Problems on purpose, more at 11

Tears of the Kingdom - Initial Thoughts
Can it be called initial thoughts if I've already played, like, 12 hours of it at least? We'll go with that anyway.
I'm going to put most of it beneath the cut, but here I'll just say: it is good. If you were worried at all that exploring Hyrule specifically would not be fun, it is extremely fun and I'm having a blast.
For reference of how far I am: I decided I would get one part of the main quest done before doing serious exploration. I've been to Castle Town, underground a couple times, have done one thing with Impa's quest, and I'm pretty far in the Rito Village quest line.
The opening cutscene was so good, I really love that they had Link have a million hearts, only for them to be ripped away. And Zelda! I love her so much, she got so excited over the murals! I hope there's more chances to see her nerd out.
I'm really unsure what to think about Rauru. I love his design, he has a nice voice, like overall I really love him, to be honest! But, his character profile is annoyingly vague, and I can't shake the feeling he might try and betray us at some point.
The sky islands are really cool! I feel like Nintendo really noticed how much people liked climbing shit, and so much of the game feels geared towards that.
The different runes are interesting. I thought that we'd have the new runes in addition to the old runes. I miss some of the old runes (bombs and statis specifically) but also I see how that would just lead to much the same, and by not giving them back, it keeps the game fresh and allows the devs to put in different puzzles.
'Castle Town' (I can't remember the name right now) is wonderful. The world in general feels so full of people, so full of life. I love talking to literally everybody that I can. 'Castle Town' being built over the old ceremony place (from the cutscene where Link is kneeling in front of Zelda) I think is a good example of the mentality of the rebuilding project - make use of everything, even the things that were once deemed 'sacred', for the good of furthering Hyrule. Seeing people growing up is so neat! I am confused as to how Purah got so old - it seems like most of the kids are teens now, but she looks like an adult - but I'm guessing maybe she just ages faster than the rest? Her new assistant Josha is so cute too!! What a nerd I love her!
The plot so far is a lot more engaging and a lot more of mystery, trying to figure out what it is Zelda is doing and exactly what it is you're supposed to be doing.
Shout out to my girl Traysi, running a newspaper and selling the best armor! For real, that was an offer you couldn't refuse. I am missing Kass, we haven't seen him at all :(
There's also a lot of small things I'm really appreciating, like the music in the shrines and their aesthetic, the fact that your have all your horses from you BotW profile if you're playing on the same account. The world feels like the same Hyrule, but so changed, so new still, and I'm excited to re-explore it, honest to goodness. And to check in on my old friends, see how they're doing! Even small side characters are remembered; I got insanely excited over seeing Oliff.
The bottom line is, I'm enjoying this game a lot. I'm sure I'll have more thoughts later, and more critiques after I've gotten more used to it. Right now one is that going through your items can be a little hard to find what you're looking for in a relatively fast manner. Also I feel like I always have so many already fused items - like pre-fused before I even get them - that it makes it hard to find weapons that I can fuse with items.
I'm still going through the Rito questline, but I love Tulin! Favorite little boy <3<3<3

not to be that mf on main but like,,,,,
fuck multifandom one shot books, and honestly one shot books in general to some extent.
In this post I pulled out of my ass out of sheer frustration while looking for a fic to read, i will messily lay out my grievances, then make suggestions of what authors could potentially do differently to avoid these issues.
Section 1: Me Angy
First off- the tag and fandom lists on these things are ALWAYS 50 miles long and take up like half the damn page on Ao3, and istg a good amount of the time they’ve got like a single 1000 word chapter and haven’t even been updated in like 2 years
They absolutely destroy filters for things like tags and word count.
like if i’m looking for a longfic to binge read, i don’t need these books of one shots, when i’d maybe be interested in 10% of what’s in it, clogging up my search results.
plus if you’ve got even just one single oneshot in there with an icky tag i’ve filtered out, then i’m never gonna see any of it even if i might’ve actually liked what the rest had to offer!!
The fandoms are also like a whole other beast. God forbid you’re looking for an actual crossover fic between two franchises because sorry bout ur luck there kid, you’re gonna be spending a stupid amount of time weeding out random fandom after random fandom in the filters section just to get rid of these oneshot books and find what you’re actually looking for.
Section 2: Suggestions
If you’re an author just trying to keep your page organized by keeping all your oneshots together somehow, then put them in a series! That way they can all be tagged individually and more people who’d want to read them will be able to find them, and they don’t jack up the filtering system!
Kinda sorta relevant to the conversation too; if you’re making a fic for a franchise with a bunch of different iterations, and you’re don’t necessarily have a specific version in mind when writing it, or perhaps are making an original iteration all your own, then for the love of all that is good, do not put every iteration in the fandom tags.
For example, if i’m looking for say, fanfic of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and you’re writing a Zelda fanfic set in your own version of the Zelda universe. If you tag literally every single game in the franchise that has a fandom tag to its name, then your fic will come up even if it’s not at all what i’m looking for.
Most multi-iteration fandoms of that nature have an overarching tag that looks something like:
*insert random franchise*- and related fandoms
It’s there for a reason! If you’re not sure what version you’re writing for, or you’re making one up, then just use that! It can still be found by anyone scrolling through fics on that general tag, and doesn’t get in the way of readers on the hunt for something more specific.
In Conclusion:
i ain’t trynna be a dick, but some of yall don’t know how to tag and it’s working to both your, and the readers detriment. Thats ok tho! it’s not like there’s a rule book out there that lays out exactly what to do, and thanks to that everyone has subtle differences in how they decide to label their work. i’m just pointing out some minor inconveniences i’ve gone thru as a reader and some possible solutions for authors that could circumvent them.
this is in no way a personal attack on anybody, not sure why anyone would think that it’s literally fanfic tags, but just trynna cover all my bases here. Ok bye
#also irrelevant to the premise of the post#but still a tag tip#if you have ocs in your fic#JUST TAG Original Character(s)#if you wanna specify more characteristics in other tags that’s fine#but ALWAYS keep the plain Original Character(s) tag in there as well#same goes for y/n and reader insert stuff#fanfiction#fanfic#transformative works#Ao3#ao3 fanfic#ao3 author#goddam this is a mess💀#thoughts from the pit
