for reasons unknown even to myself I'm having a lot of thoughts about popstar!reader x vi like. idk IDK imagine vi gets pulled into being security to one of ur concerts and she's rly never been one for pop music but hey a job is a job and this beats slamming ppl in the interrogation room for info (although she does also love that) but like. JUST. she's so startled by how pretty you are on stage how you literally have this glow about you and yeah like she's heard OF you ur piltovers darling ur face plastered on every single ad from endorsing everything from shipping companies to like idk skincare but she's never paid much attention to that till she's standing in front of the pit, right under the stage where you're prancing around in this darling little magenta number the exact color of her hair with glitter on ur cheeks and later she's SHOCKED to see you in one of her normal watering holes in zaun cause??? what r you DOING here you look so out of place and she can tell you're a lil uncomfy but you're just wide eyed and curious and laughing at something someone is saying, and before she knows it she's pushing thru to get closer to you, overhears someone asking you if you've ever been underside before, to which you give some flirty cryptic answer but vi catches the pause in your voice that tells her there's more to the story.

when she finally managed to wedge herself into the slip of space that's opened up next to you at the bar she's figured out that one of your groupies was the one who dragged u down here w the promise of a good time, but she's off making out w some rando and you're trying ur best to not stick out too much, and she's about to shoot her shot when someone jostles you so you're toppling into her and she catches you so naturally catches a whiff of your rosewater perfume, barely has time to register how soft you are in her arms before your pulling back trying to apologize but ur palms are splayed against her sternum and one of her hands has somehow ended up on the bend of your hip and she truly cannot help but notice how your breath hitches as your eyes meet for the first time, so she tries not to look too smitten, pulls a signature smirk and says --

"hey princess, aren't you a little far from home?"

shed expected you to blush and stutter or try to pull away, but what she DOESNT expect is for you to smile right back, sweet and without a HINT of uncertainty --

"if i tell you im lost... will you take me to yours?"

The slutty open collar made a return and I kept the vambraces in every outfit bc there’s no way Ezio would put them down, otherwise I could’ve given him more details but I’m happy with the look and silhouettes 👍

Are You Lost?

An enforcer with ADHD getting separated from her partner in the undercity and she has a run in with a gun wielding girl who is very quick to threaten her life.

Soon she’s dependent on said girl to help her find her partner again…. But there’s also the high possibility the girl she’s with is the one they came to arrest.

Technically part 1 is fully completed! Ending with the season 1 finale and probably won’t be continued until sometime after season 2 for me to build the story around.

But! I am going to be posting little things related to the story in one way or another that may or may not end up canon to the story (depending on season 2). Scene changes/quote changes, side stories, headcannons, or even just small moments/scenes with them.

Honestly I’m so happy so many people like the story and continue to read, especially with how sporadic my updates were/are.

wound care by weatheredlaw - or post-divorce jayvik still work in the same hospital as surgeons, a beautifully angsty piece where two people make it work despite it falling apart in the past

Deathless by argonautida - a fusion with the fairytale koschei the deathless, set during viktor's recovery from jayce's attack in season 2 via dream-sharing

Malunion series by lukeskqwalker - or league of legends-style divorce era jayvik where they're totally not still in love with each other. totally. why would you even suggest that. ok i nursed him back to health, but like, in an antagonistic way

Catafalque by hexhomos - this one is a beast of a fic. that said, absolutely read it. it's a deep dive into viktor's story during season 1 and his obsession with the hexcore, plays around with ergodic text and tops it off with a dollop of beautiful tragedy, and for what is essentially 90% a canon-compliant fic it's incredibly original with its ideas and execution

the heart as a metaphor for the heart by kinematics (engineering) - an absolute blast of a surreal fic that reads like something tom stoppard would write, uses league of legends canon, tragedy but it hurts so good

moonbeam series by acuteroses - wherein both jayce and viktor have accidentally acquired children during the divorce era, those children meet and becomes friends while their parents are still enemies, i don’t usually like kidfics but this series is pitch-perfect Divorce Era(tm) with all the angst and crack that is implied

butterflies and hurricanes by ironcy - a post season 2 “they got spat back out of the arcane dimension” but with uh, realistic consequences? heavy on jayce whump but beautiful prose

I know I don’t mention this much but I feel the need to bring it up now (since the last book 7 update was the Octavinelle one) 😂

Is anyone else like… disappointed by how much Jade’s UM got seriously nerfed??? Shock the Heart has so many limitations. Firstly, it requires eye contact. Plus, it can only use it ONCE per person. Even then, it is not guaranteed to work since it fails on people who are on high alert and those under his UM's influence can still refuse to answer questions demanded of them. How am I supposed to believe Jade somehow has enough magical capacity to attend a prestigious school like NRC?????? (Especially when you consider that it may entirely be possible to substitute his UM for just slipping someone a truth serum or something.)

Some low magic mages like Fellow can use his UM multiple times, even letting his UM seemingly "stack" (and thus enhance its effect). And this is FELLOW, a character whose backstory involves him being rejected from magic schools, who scoffed at his low level of magic. So... Jade, who has enough magic capacity to attend NRC, one of the most prestigious arcane academies, has a weak as heck UM while Fellow, who has so little magic he doesn't qualify for much less prestigious arcane academies, has a UM that has multiple uses that enhances its power with each cast?????????? OKAY????????? And not only that, but many of Jade's classmates have much more advanced and complicated UMs too (look at Jamil with his MIND CONTROL 🤡 which hurts the victim the more they resist) or can essentially spam their UM (stares at Silver). So how come Jade is like the ONLY person who only has a one-time use UM????? Of all UMs, is this really the only one the devs thought would be overpowered???? I understand that there will naturally be variance in the power and abilities of each mage, but it still feels like he really got the short end of the stick...

I... guess the nature of the UM makes sense with Jade's crafty nature??? Because the limited usage for it reinforces and informs Jade's caution and strategizing for the instances in which he actually breaks out his UM. BUT THE ISSUE IS THAT THE VERY SAME COULD BE ACHIEVED IF HE HAD AN UNLIMITED NUMBER OF USES. Jade could still be wary about using Shock the Heart frequently because it could allow others to catch on to what his UM does... and if they're alert around him or avoid looking him in the eyes, it makes his UM fail anyway. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE DEVS WOULD DO HIM SO DIRTY LIKE THIS OTL J word doesn’t deserve this injustice, LET HIM BE A MENACE

The only bit of solace I have and cling onto is that maybe MAYBE Jade was lying to us all along about how limited his UM is (I have no reason to believe this is canon since, even as late as the dire circumstances of book 7, Jade keeps describing his UM as single use only and can’t seem to exceed the single use rule even in a dream)💀 He can use it as many times as he likes, he’s just deceiving us about the one time use to lure the few people who do ultimately find out about his UM into a false sense of security… or maybe his UM is still developing and could become stronger over time??? Cuz like. Why chide Floyd for casually telling others about his UM but then Jade ALSO just casually tells us about his UM... That’s my (delusional) non-canon compliant headcanon 😤

You know why i know that arcane is "babys first fandom" for a lot of people?

A: ppl seem to genuinely think that characters calling each other "brother" or saying "hes like a brother to me" means theyre actual blood brothers or grew up together as siblings. And a lot of ppl get REALLY upset at vanco or jayvik shippers bc of that (ofc only the queer ships)

b: some ppl seem to really, GENUINELY get angry when you put these characters into hurt/comfort, whump situations. Like i'll see posts where ppl put a character into a distressing situation for the ~hurt~ and there will be ppl in the comments/notes who GENUINELY get mad at them for "hurting" the character.

And c: a larger amount of ppl than usual seemingly dont want their faves to have ANY negative or morally grey qualities and will interpret you talking about these qualities as "hate".

Like, idk if this says something about media literacy or sanitisation of media, but babes, you GOTTA learn about subtext and nuance and that sometimes you gotta put a character in a situation so there can be a STORY, you know. Also less ppl seem to get the concept of headcanons and more ppl need EVERYTHING about their fave characters to be canon compliant.

The music was blasting out of a speaker next to the exit when I opened the heavy wooden door and entered the crammed bar. Honestly, I was surprised to find it as crowded on a regular weekday, but apparently that didn't make much of a difference around here. How often had I tried to sneak a drink around here before, but it had always been prevented by Vander.

Didn't help when the owner of the bar was a regular customer at your own father's store.

But today was different. Today I was allowed to be here! Finally.

I was making my way through the crowd, heading for the bar, where I didn't find the familiar gruffy face of Vander. I took the last free stool and climbed on it a little clumsily. Looking around for another bartender, I craned my neck from left to right, but nobody was to be seen. I finally wanted my drink!

"Are you even allowed to drink yet, kid?" a low voice from my left, asked me.

I looked where the voice was coming from and found a black-haired man, who wasn't even looking at me, but was scribbling something into a notebook. I knew this man from my father's shop.

He sometimes came to help Vander with the deliveries and sometimes came to buy... other things... And his piercing blue-green eyes seemed to look right into your soul.

Somehow the room now felt warmer.

"Yes, Silco," the familiar voice of the bartender finally echoed over the music. "'cause it's her 18th birthday today!"

Silco put down his pen and now finally gave me a real look. "You know her?", he huffed at Vander.

"Sure, you should too!" He told Silco my name and waited for a reaction. Finally, he sighed. "Claus' eldest!"

It still didn't seem to click with Silco. He turned to look at me again, an eyebrow raised. "You mean, he doesn't just have those four unbearable brats but one more?"

"I'm not a brat!" I fought back weakly. "And my four brothers are only my half-brothers."

Vander made a movement of uncertainty with his hands. "She's Claus' only daughter with his first wife; you know, the one that..." I was thankful that Vander didn't elaborate more on my biological mother's fate in public. 

She had left us when I was around six. Just kept leaving the house more often and coming back less and less until she stayed away one day forever. She was found dead three years later on the patch. Until I was ten, it had only been me and my father; then he remarried, and while my stepmother was the kindest and friendliest person in the world, the second my first half-brother was born, I sensed that she would never love me as much as her own flesh and blood.

"So, it's your birthday and I finally can't throw you out of my bar anymore. What can I get you?" Vander brought my attention back to the here and now.

Silco also turned away from me, but I noticed a small eye roll before he went back to his papers.

I honestly had no idea what I wanted, it would be my first time drinking, but I recognized one of the bottles above my head from our own kitchen at home. 

My stepmom would sometimes drink that, and she seemed to like it.

I pointed at the green bottle. "I'll take this one."

"Oh, starting out strong, I see," Vander mused and poured me a drink. "If I might give you an advice, I would keep the pace low, okay? I would hate to explain to my vendor why his daughter got an alcohol poisoning on her 18th birthday."

I grinned at him, showing my bright white teeth. "Don't worry, Vander. I'm an adult now. I know what I'm doing."

Of course, he was right to worry, and I didn't know what I was doing.

After some punks around my age found out it was my birthday, they offered me drink after drink. We danced and laughed and drank, and I had the best night of my life so far. 

The bar got emptier by each passing hour, and even some of my new "friends" were leaving until it was only me and one of them.

"That's a very pretty dress, you're wearing there", he lulled and gave one of the straps a small push so that it fell from my shoulder.

I giggled, not understanding the situation I was in. Without the intoxication, I would probably have slapped the shit out of that guy, but now? "It belonged to my mother," I slurred. "She was a whore."

That second, the noise of huge hands slamming on the wooden surface of the bar cut through the room.

"Silco!", Vander's mighty voice hollered over the music, and he also called out for me. "I still got work to do around here. But I think it's best if you take her home now. She's had enough."

"I can do that!", the punk instantly offered, but Vander shut him with a stern look.

"No, it's okay, I'll do it." Silco closed his notebook and waved me over. "Come on, let's go."

I wanted to protest. I wasn't that drunk, was I? Did I really need a babysitter?

But Vander's look didn't leave room for protest.

So I followed the slender black-haired man outside the bar. Cold air hit my bare arms, and I instantly shivered.

It had been so warm, when I had come earlier.

"Where is your jacket?", Silco asked, rolling his eyes.

"I don't know. I think one of the girls took it with her," I admitted.

Silco sighed theatrically and slipped out of his own jacket. "Here, take that. You don't want to spend the week after your birthday down with a cold, do you?"

I shook my head and shyly took the jacket.

It smelled of musk, smoke and a tad of old sweat, was heavy and the arms were way too long for me, but otherwise it fit like a glove.

Silco's eyes darkened, and despite the friendly smile on his lips, I felt kind of self-aware at that moment. "Now, that's better, isn't it?" he muttered while lighting a cigarette.

I nodded quickly, and we headed in the direction of my home. 

It would only be a walk of around 15 minutes. 

I had made these streets so much in my life, I would never have sensed fear before. Still, I was thankful for the company that night.

"What's your name again?", Silco asked after a few minutes. 

I told him, and he repeated it lowly. 

Despite the jacket, the hairs on my arms rose again.

Never had anyone spoken my name as beautifully as he just had. 

I know Silco from my father's store, had seen him ever since him and Vander had "The Last Drop". To my disappointment, I now realized that he had cut his hair slightly and only wore it in a low ponytail, not in his usual messy bun tonight. I tried to think about something to talk to a man who was about twice my age, but my drunk self couldn't come up with anything. We just walked besides each other while Silco had a second smoke, until we reached the street I lived in. "It isn't far anymore," I murmured, and was surprised about how husky my voice sounded in the cold of the night. 

"I know where Claus lives," Silco repeated. He was clearly avoiding looking at me, but I wasn't able to make sense of it back then. 

When we finally reached my house, I leaned against the door frame. "Ah, stupid thing!", I cursed when my keys didn't want to fit the hole and additionally fell to the ground.

Silco threw his cigarette down and ground the butt out. "Come, let me get that for you."

Before I could move, Silco reached down for the keys. 

While he rose, our glances shortly met, and his green eyes took my breath away for a second. 

I couldn't move as he pulled the key to the hole and pushed the door open for me.

He was so close I could smell him perspire, the same scent as his jacket had. As we locked eyes again, he didn't move either.

"So," I made, suddenly feeling sober and bold. "don't you want to take advantage of an intoxicated young girl like me too?"

As his eyes flicked towards my lips, I felt my knees turn weak for a second. "I'm way too old for you, kid. And you're drunk. Vander trusted me with your safety."

"And if it wasn't for Vander?" I placed my head against the door frame.

Silco's hand came above my head as he leaned closer. "I would still be too old for you."

"How old exactly are you? As long as you aren't... like my dad's age, I don't see the problem."

"I'm 30, kid. Trust me, you don't want that."

I raised an eyebrow. "Not as old as I assumed."

Silco's posture straightened, and he broke eye contact. "Charming," he huffed as he ran the hand that was just above me through his hair. "Now, good night, kid."

"Wait!"

He looked back down at me from the corner of his eyes.

"I'm not even getting a goodnight's kiss?"

Silco sighed and rolled his eyes. "You're a real nuisance, you know that?" He still leaned down, and his thin lips planted a small smack on top of my cheek. "Now, good night." He really turned and took some steps down the streets.

"Silco!", I called out again, and he again faced me.

Loose strands of black hair framed his remarkable face. 

"Your jacket!"

He smiled. "Keep it, kid. I still got one. You can return it once you've brought yourself a new one."

"I'll get one from my first salary. Dad said I can work in his store now for real."

"Do that," he mused and continued walking.

I couldn't keep my eyes off him, until he vanished behind a corner. Then I finally released the breath I've been holding unnoticed. My hand touched the cheek that just had been kissed, then I finally managed to step into my house.

As her frustration reaches a new level, Caitlyn interrupts their kisses with a huff.

“You’re not going to break me if you touch me, you know?” she says. Despite the tension in her tone, there’s still a strong thread of affection, and sincere endearment at Vi’s caution.

“Are we sure?” Vi chuckles nervously. Her eyes trail along the length of Caitlyn’s body, enamored, but also taking mental count of every spot where she was hurt during battle.

“We’ll be careful,” Caitlyn says, her voice is so soft but her choice of words is so confident that Vi would bet Caitlyn knows as well as she does in that moment that she already won the argument. “I need you.”

12 days of Christmas and 12 quotes of Arcane

Hi there! Wow, look at that. I'm late. Again. Sorry about that...

Anyway, today is January 6, and our little game is officially over. Hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. Now, that it's done, though, I promised 3 prizes. 3 Arcane one-shots, one for each of the top 3 scorers. So, leave in the replies your scores and let's see who the luck three will be! (If there are more than 3 top scores, the choosing will be by drawing (hope I used the right word)).

Now regarding the writing, here are my writing will and will not dos and some general stuff about the writing itself:

Will do: Fluff, angst, hurt/comfort, hurt/no comfort, whump, romance (ships I'll mainly write for: Caitvi, Meljay, Timebomb, Jayvik), aus including the alternate timeline in episode 7 of season 2, canon divergence, canon compliant, stuff that could've taken place during the timeskips, post canon stuff.

Will not do: Smut/sex scenes (I'm sex repulsed, sorry), gore, incest or pedophilic ships (i.e. Vi X Jinx or Silco X Jinx), characters that are in League of Legends but not in Arcane, ships that erase a characters canon sexuality (i.e. Vi or Caitlyn with any male character), other people's OCs (I don't feel confident writing for a character I don't really know, but I can create OCs for the one-shots), Crack fics (not my strongest suit).

Writing stuff: The one-shots won't be longer than 4000 words. I'll have them ready by late spring, since now I have no time to write ('tis the finals season).
