I think Disarm and Arcangelo might be a bit too much like their sires timing wise at the moment. Meaning Disarm is probably going to be peaking at 4. While Arcangelo is getting rolling right now.
Though I’m hoping with Arcangelo case he also turns into a heck of a 4 year old and we don’t have any sorta Dubai bounce or an equivalent (though I wouldn’t be surprised if his trainer hesitates to ship if he does a 4 year old campaign for that reason). So we can get a heck of an older horse campaign with those two squaring off.
Of course that’s all contingent on both of them racing at 4.
Gun Runner, who has only three crops of racing age, is the NUMBER TWO general sire for 2023. And until today, he hadn't had a Grade One winner this year. I doubt he's catching up to Into Mischief any time soon. But with two G1 wins and Disarm's G1 second (it's coming for him still, I hope) he's going to be even further clear of Curlin in third. And look at some of the other stallions he's clear of.....
He's ridiculously clear on the Third-crop list....the next stallion there is Practical Joke, then Arrogate (who'll maybe move to second after Arcangelo won the Travers). Practical Joke is 12th on the gen sire list, and Arrogate is 25th.
I know that Gun Runner broke Uncle Mo's record as a first crop sire, but this is insane. Or it seems insane, I guess, since I never really paid THIS close attention to a stallion's career until Gun Runner.

Hey baby sis how you doin?? I see you got so popular and honestly I’m so frighten proud of you💖💖💖 To celebrate how about the classic Yugioh Bois celebrating accomplishments of their s/o whatever it may be?? Thanks a bunches luv and keep the Nightingale fam strong ☺️💖
Oof things have been crazy, but im.haning in there! I hope everything is going well for everyone tho! 🥺🥺💞💞💕💕
Yugi Muto:
You were an up and coming artist. You spent years improving your art, and yugi was there for every but of it.
He was already proud of every peice you made no matter how long it took he loved them all.
But when you finally got noticed on tumbler for beautiful art he was ecstatic for you!
No matter what it is this boy will honestly always be proud of you and your accomplishments.
Yami/Atem:
Going through fours years of college wasnt easy, but lucky for you your boyfriend was there for you every step.
Every sleepless nights with constant studying he was by your side with coffee.
He was even there for you through every break down you had. To reassure you that you got this.
And when you finally graduated he was there to pick you up and spin while singing your praise. He was so proud of you for pulling for and cant wait to see what you do next!
Joey Wheeler:
Gaming tourments were never an easy thing especially the big leagues. So when you entered joey was there for you to make sure you got plenty of food and water.
He honestly enjoyed watching you train for your competition, and though he didnt say much so you could concentrate he was cheering you on in his head.
He also loved the determined look on your face when you finally got to the tournament.
Though it was a king gruling battle you finally won the tournament and joey was so proud of you! He started yelling your name and praise all across the place and honestly you wouldnt have it any other way.
Tristan Taylor:
Track was was a gruling thing, but you enjoyed the feeling of accomplishment it gave you. You also weren't alont in this endeavor.
Every morning and evening you go running Tristan was right by your side. He had water bottles and words of encouragement.
When you started training for a marathon he was there to cheer you on and go as far as his legs could carry him.
Through a lot of training and Perseverance you made it first in the marathon. Tristan was soll proud of you that as soon as he saw you he picked you up and spun you around, and unlike you he was ready for the next marathon.
Duke Devlin:
Being a beautician wasnt as easy as it looked, but you trudged on. Lucky for you however Duke was there for you every step of the way.
He even allowed you to practice on him. He especially loved it when you played with his hair. It was so relaxing.
Without you knowing after every look you practiced Duke took pictures of it so when you finally became a full time beautician he could show you your progress.
And that's exactly what he did on the very night you graduated. Through every picture he showed he pointed out what he liked about every look, and how proud he was of you.
Seto Kaiba:
You wanted Seto to be proud of you so bad, so in secret you honed your duel monster skills using his technology to help.
He always wondered where you ran off to when he was at work, but was too busy to look in to it.
Mokuba however, wasnt and found out quickly what you were doing. He never told Seto, but he did try to coach you the best he could.
Seto never found out till your name was all over the news. An up and coming duelist quickly making their through the ranks. He never said it to you, but he was extremely proud of you.
Yami Bakura:
Sining covers was one of your favorite things, and how you met Bakura. Something about your voice had him enchanted sonhe called you his siren.
Your covers weren't really big, but that didnt bother you because you just enjoyed doing it anyway. (Though most time you would hear bakura mumble that no one has tastes)
You started off with a few loyal followers, but eventaully your channel grew bigger and bigger every month.
Until finally you were in of the top cover artists. Bakura was hella proud of you for clawing your way to the top. He would never say it, but actions speak louder then words.
Yami Marik:
Yami Marik was someone who wasnt easily impressed. It took a lot.to get him to sing your praise.
Like maybe defeating the pharaoh on your own?? Yeah that would about do it. So when he heard that you challenged the pharaoh he was intrested.
He watched the fight a grin plastered on his face the whole time. Watching the two of struggle was exciting.
When you won he couldnt help at laugh in both victory and mockingly at the pharaoh. Finally he could send him to the shadow realm and reclaim the throne for himself all because of you.
Bakura Ryou:
Pottery making was a favorite hobby of yours. Just being able to sit there and relax was amazing to you.
And bakura loved watching your process. Every piece always amazes him when he see it.
He helped you post every piece for everyone to see, and first it up to 10 views at most, but neither of you minded.
But once you started getting views in 100s both you were so happy. Bakura help you and said how proud he was of you, and how he cant wait to see you grow.
Marik Ishtar:
Archeology was gruling work, but you didnt mind it. Digging up history was always fun especially with Marik by your side.
Because your constantly had in the move it was a perfect fit for Marik's adventurous ways.
However one day you found the biggest find in your life time! Something that showed more of the Pharaoh's family tree.
When your find got it's own exhibit with your name Marik was so thrilled! He took you out on a fancy dinner to celebrate the whole time telling you how proud he was of you.
Care to buy me a Ko-fi??

S5 Ep6: Joey Wheeler is on Fire, Yet Again
Came down with a little sickness-not the biggie, just a little sly guy. But I took some meds, I’m a little floaty, I’ve only been listening to baroque music all morning for some reason? And I hate baroque music usually? But I’ll leave it to bro to tell me if this is fluid enough.
Just so you know, these caps were kind of a hot mess for a while and some of them read like that Garfield in of hot eat the food comic until...today. So pls don’t judge me, Judge my damn DMV where no one was following Covid regulations because I’m pretty sure that’s where I got this damn cold.
We start off with Roland getting more attention than he ever has in his entire life. Like honestly, I don’t know what Roland’s job really is...but he’s got a very diverse set of very useless skills. One of which, is knowing how to announce sports games that aren’t really a sport, while those games he’s announcing slowly fall into chaos.
Anyway, Roland’s taking so long cherishing his sweet time before everything goes to hell, that he’s boring Joey, who’s kinda turned into a ball of stress in the waiting room.
A lot of this episode is us watching them watching Joey having a break down moment by moment, TBH.
(read more under the cut)
Yugi telling Joey to study his cards and straight up--what?
Like at this point they know what’s on the cards, right? Like there comes a point where even Yugioh cards have a finite amount of words and I’m just going to assume that like...Joey probably knows them all in his own deck, right?
(bro note: they have no limit on what they will put on a card)
Then again, maybe Yugi doesn’t know what “study” means?
Also, appreciate how some artist crosshatched the hell on Joey’s nose there and I zoomed out and ruined it.
Now for some reason every duelist is hanging out in the duel lodge, including our current arch-villain guy who’s brought a book. I want to know what book this guy even reads so no one could suspect he’s actually a hacker who uses computers. He’s reading romance, right? And I don’t think he’d even be into Twilight, I think he’s straight up into hard core Mom romance like a lame ass Nicholas Sparks over there reading “Dear John” for the millionth time because he is completely un-phased by anything else happening in this room.
Joey, our hero, just out there being an asshole for no reason.
After Tea is pushed into a locker or something screaming about her need for female friends (which she screamed in earshot of Rebecca again, who I figured was on friends terms with her after last episode...but I guess not) Leon hops up to remind us that we should be caring about the fact that his character exists.
And like, I love Leon’s hair color--that’s a good choice, and legit that is the color I tried to dye my hair at the beginning of the epidemic (it didn’t work PS, my hair cannot take dye for the life of it) but also like...he just kinda feels like a weak Rebecca as far as characters go. He’s young, he’s good at cards...I think he goes to a private school? That’s all I can think of about Leon.
He mostly just reminds us that the big prize of this tourney is to duel Yugi, who anyone could have dueled at any point even without the tournament.
On the way out of the...duel room? lounge? Area? Joey decides to like...make peace with Zigfried, and I gotta tell you, I kinda have to side with Zigfried, because Joey spent the last ten minutes being a freak in the dressing room/lounge/bathroom and at one point looked like he was going to hold the entire locker room in a stranglehold.
I would also want some space from Joey Wheeler, is what I’m saying.
After insulting Joey’s style (which honestly, Joey...has a style? He pops his collar, that’s his entire style.) Zigfried assures us that Joey’s gonna lose and like...
...probably, right? Just looking at the plausible direction this season will go.
Anyway, Joey is such a mess (which is the theme of the episode, that Joey needs to learn to chill in order to win at card games) that Rebecca is like “I understand if all of you leave me to go help our poor baby Joey.” And no one felt bad for her.
Mokuba comes over to tell everyone all of the Kaiba family secrets because Mokuba has no filter.
Seto has devoted himself to staring at a computer screen for the rest of this episode. I guess he’ll put their names into Google, realize that social media hasn’t been invented yet, and then just lie his head down on the desk and take a power nap until the tournament is over. Much like I did after taking Dayquil this afternoon.
I like how Seto dressed for success and then locked himself in the server room for most of this arc so far. Maybe he’s just...really tired, I dunno. I don’t really blame the guy, he’s had a hard time.
And then Yugi was like “DAMN IT MOKUBA, JUST ONCE CAN YOU NOT INVITE THE ILLUMINATI???”
And we had a weird scene where Yugi just started talking to the ghost and it was while he was talking to everyone else, and the show didn’t treat it like that’s a weird thing to do...but it was a weird thing to do.
This show does that sometimes, where I guess they imply that Yugi’s Pharaoh conversations are split second conversations but...they’re not, right?
Also this chick ain’t gone yet, and Mokuba is just failing at his entire job for not zeroing in on vibes coming off this chick like stinky cheeseman.
So listen.
Did the Kaibas make like 3 types of Blue Eyes Caboose to one up Noah? Because Noah made one choo choo dragon, and then Mokuba and Seto were like “how dare” and then made sure that everyone ride every single version of the blue eyes caboose just to see how proud of them they were.
How many months of troubleshooting was the train? Like how long in development did Seto and Mokuba spend on these? A lot right? Like most of the time?
I did not check the subs to see if Roland said Jumping or Champion but I like to believe that Roland thought it was a cool new name he gave him.
Then these guys all showed up.
Hey so...can we talk seating arrangements?
Tea decided not to sit next to Yugi after complaining about not spending time with him for like how many episodes? Or was it too awkward to sit on top of what was probably Pharaoh?
Or did Mokuba go like “please, Tea, I cannot sit next to the others because I’m pretty sure one is a mole that is about to go cray” and was Tea like “Good, I need female friends, these ones are driving me crazy!” and then was Mokuba like peering desperately over the edge of his self made dragon train prison realizing he has to listen to Tea complain about boys for the rest of his ride across molten lava?
Headcanons abound about this weird seating arrangement that the animators drew for the reasons they did...but reasons I cannot fully understand. That and the Dayquil is making me overfixate on random stuff.
And also, Tea is kind of the Kaiba’s security’s understudy. Just there to always protect Mokuba with her ass because she’s the strongest woman alive.
PS I missed the tumblr wars because at the time I was trying to like...run a proper business on blogger. When Blogger died and I jumped over here it was like a weird ruin where everyone was like “tumblr is the most toxic place alive” and...I’ve had a really nice time here, actually. Completely missed that civil war period and I have no regrets.
Now I was there for the Petz wars (warz, I guess) where people were very militant about Petz abuse (abuze?) where apparently people were using the spray bottle on their catz too much and people were very, very upset about it to the point that they were like campaigning about it on their angelfire websites with the most bizarre grassroots campaigns that I still recall, to this day because they were like...well they looked like this:
PLAPA. Not only am I 100% positive that only this one guy ever called this movement PLAPA, but I’m 100% positive that not only are Catz not real people, but also this wasn’t actually happening and we never had any proof that it was. Either way, if people knew or suspected that you hadn’t deleted the spray bottle from your game (which at the time I had no idea how to do because I was a wee child) they would basically assume you were on a one way road to being a mass murderer in real life.
In real life we were 7 years old so like...thanks?
But that’s the closest I got to toxicity and at the time I was too young to make an email account and actually converse with these people. I was just there to download their Petz hexes, and I already made a post about how wonderful and incredible Petz Hexing was.
And y’all, I heard, just now after a little deep dive into the Petz Abuse debacle (which yes, is on the wiki), that apparently, like gardening, Petz Hexing came back in a big way during the epidemic--and I have found an active Petz forum in this the year 2021. The only problem is that I no longer remember how to use old timey forums...and I think I’m locked out of seeing most of these threads (and like this forum is so old I think I have to send them a letter in the physical mail to apply). But, I’m pretty sure they’re hosting a picture contest for who’s dogz poses the best. And I’m pretty sure someone created a hexxed Pickle Rick. Or it’s a photoshop that was made to look like a hexxed Pickle Rick.
Dammit why did it have to be Pickle Rick? That’s not worth re-installing Petz and getting it to run on Windows 10...
Guys is this the Dayquil? Is this really happening? I feel like I’m losing my mind for so many reasons...
Anyway, speaking about useless hexing it’s about time that our villain did something that was actually dangerous, so Zigfried decided to install a new virus that does more than turn off the lights. (it still turns off lights)
the Spreadsheet Virus!
Confounded by the spreadsheet software, it...um...it does this:
Straight up how does Excel make a volcano erupt? Is that why I have to pay for Microsoft office now?
All this because Joey made fun of Zigfried’s naturally pink hair? Which is the most normal hair on this series outside of like...Tristan?
Hey guys...Joey’s fine, right? Like how many times has Joey been on fire? And once in an iron cage next to like...a Fire Golem?
Joey’s fine.
MAN I miss Fire Golem. He had a good mug.
And then we just kinda watch chaos go across the park, chaos that includes: Too many ghosts in the haunted mansion (which honestly--you’ll get your money’s worth, sounds great!), the Ferris wheel goes kinda fast and thus might accidentally be fun, the lights turn off at some concert stage that only had 2 people on it (so it might just be motion detector lights and not even a virus), and um...literal fire and magma are going to set Joey Wheeler on fire.
Just...one of these events does not seem like the others. In fact most of these things sound like good improvements to the park and they should just hire Zigfried at this point.
Roland puts down his microphone and jogs across the stage, about a mile through the audience bleachers, and into the staff lounge, to go and bother Seto Kaiba, who is in a room that has a hi-def classical painting copy-pasted on the wall and I can’t look away from it.
I almost did a Google search on this painting but then thought better about it. There’s like...a billion classical paintings that look exactly like this, and they wouldn’t use like a Monet, they would have to do something that’s harder to catch to avoid copyright issues (because yes, even old ass paintings have copyright issues, but no one tell NFT’s which are going to be so freakin screwed and was such a bad idea, that I can’t even start).
Anyway, I have no idea who it is and it is legitimately driving me up a wall, but I’m on too much meds to do the effort of putting it in a reverse google image search.
Plus, a reverse google image search would only pull up Seto Kaiba.
So Kaiba takes us on a little flashback to his weird ass past, a weird ass past that just...doesn’t follow any of the established timelines, but I assume was shortly after adoption but before Seto got into a phase where he wore his school outfit everywhere and tried to shove his MMO off onto his Dad as a business model.
Seto is like 8 for some reason. I don’t know why, they kinda drew him younger this season anyway, like maybe they got a lot of fan mail and realized “Hey I think we made the 16 yo boy too sexy?” And they just toned Seto the hell down. That, and it’s a different animation team, and maybe they looked at Seto’s character design and were like “we don’t get paid enough to draw this well.” So...since Seto actually looks like a teen again, I guess his 12 year old self has to look like he’s in Elementary school.
Also, I only recognized this, because at some point in S3 as I was roasting Noah Kaiba’s weird fashion:
I remember distinctly roasting that little bow tie. I don’t remember when I wrote it, I think there was a version of this outfit that was in color...but I don’t remember where.
Anyway, it’s not the same jacket...but man that’s kind of awkward, ya? Like the maid who dressed Mokuba deffo got fired?
He um.
Turned the lights off a little bit.
Guys this villain is like...
...why does he think lights are scary? Like look at little Seto here. The boy is already bored. Seto duels on the edges of cliffs...he doesn’t care about the freakin dark.
We had a guy who killed everyone on the planet last season, and this season we have a little fashion gremlin standing in the corner and flicking the light switch going “wooooo you never catch me!” and it’s like...
...I’m starting to think this guy isn’t a witch.
Like we’re at Episode 6, there’s still time for this guy to be a witch...but I really am starting to think this guy is just...straight up not a witch. It’s everything Seto wanted, a rival who isn’t a freakin magic person...and sets Joey only fake on fire instead literally on fire like last time...
and Seto is just completely unhinged by it.
Anyway, I’m off to go drink a bowl of soup and pass out. If you’re new here, this is a link to read these in chrono order.

Learning About Y/n
1. She was created as a 12 year old first, til I decided to age her down into a child since I wanted to create a child reader book and her personality was perfect for it
2. Foxy was previously a polar bear
3. Y/n's nen was gonna be an enhancer, but I changed it for plot reasons (hehe)
4. She was gonna appear in a different one of my HXH books (Sweet Bunny) instead of Teki
5. She doesn't actually have a real name lol, I just call her Little Fox or Lil Sis
6. For people who are curious, Y/n is bisexual- (this is a joke BTW she isn't old enough to date and plus all of her lovers would be ded)
7. Her previous backstory was that Hisoka had killed her family and took her because of her nen, but this changed and I'm not gonna reveal the story behind Y/n...yet.
8. Y/n is actually planned to adopted 2-3 more animals in her journey, but has a possibility of changing (hint- one of these animals have been mentioned above)
9. This is already known, but the story was gonna end on the chapter 'Bai Bai!' and plus a chapter that goes into the future when Y/n is older.
10. Y/n was Kalluto's first friend :3
~~
Headpat section! (Author-Chan/Skypie is on break! Y/n is taking over!)
Y/n was standing on stage with a microphone in hand, Mr Oinks and Foxy were with her on stage as she held flash cards.
"Hewo everyone!" Y/n smiled at the audience. "I'm here as Sky-Neesan is on her break! She hopes you like the book. And that she can provide you with a chapter once a week and she is sowwy if she can't do that." Y/n was saying, without looking at the flashcards that she was handed, so what she is saying could be true or not.
"Mr Oinks and Foxy and Me wanna say that you need a headpat, give everyone a headpat. The first person you see after this, give dem a headpat! Bai Bai!"
Y/n was about to leave stage when a paper plane hit her head, Y/n picked it up and read it.
"Oh, well Skypie is going to bed, We might as well start with a small mini spoiler for season 2 of Onii-chan!"
Sneak peak 1
Y/n hummed to herself as she skipped over to the mini arena that was on the bottom floor of Heaven's Arena. She stood in the middle with some other child, who was trying to reach the top, He had black hair, and his hair was covering one of his eyes that were bright vibrate Green, in the back it seemed to be a few people were cheering on him, teenagers, guessing they forced the Child to do this.
The kid stood ready, shaking slightly from fear, but he still seemed confident in beating her, he came close to the female. As he tried to kick the small 5 year old down, She stepped out the way and instantly was behind the kid, she used her finger and flicked the back of his head.
"Flick!" She said softly to the male as he was flicked across the room and into the wall, making a dent into it. The audience of participants either pitied the boy or stared shocked at the female, who was thinking to herself. 'I didn't even use my nen that much...aww man I wanted to show off to Hiso-chan and get headpats...'
"Oh Y/n, you were here before, last year correct?" The small girl looked at the referee and nodded her head slightly, she went here with Illumi and Hisoka before.
"You should head up to the 200th floor, good luck kid."
"Thank you Mr Referee!"
~~~~
Y/n ended the clip and smiled at the audience. "Hope you liked it! Skypie is waking up now! Hope you will enjoy season 2, and remember to give everyone headpats...ALSO Bombfetti has the properties of Bombs and Confetti! Bai Bai!" Y/n ran off stage with Foxy and Mr Oinks following her.
(Skypie has returned from her sleep and will continue writing)
Scenarios
Y/n sat in her room, she had been going on her own mini adventure for a few days.
She managed to get a treasure chest from finding it in an abandoned cave on the beach. She started to head out when She was starting to be pulled away.
She tried to stop it, using Gyo she noticed the familar Pink aura that was attached to her back
"Hello Y/n~" A familiar voice made Y/n look up and smile
"Hai Onii-Chan!"
---
Y/n was standing with Hisoka, Gon and Killua as they were all outside.
It started to rain. Y/n-Chan shivered and tried using her hand as an umbrella, since Fox didn't like getting wet and would be mad at her for the next week
As she tried to stop the rain with her Hand, Gon picked her up and used his Jacket to cover their heads so they wouldn't get wet
"Thank you OniiChan!" She smiles at Gon
"Oi! What about me Gon!" Killua yelled at him
~~~~
Sneak peak to season 2
Y/n was watching Hisoka's fight, as she was cheering on him, she soon found herself bored at the scene.
She decided to go and grab some food so she got out of the stadium quickly, with Mr Oinks following her, and Foxy in her arms, she made it out into the hallway.
She went to the elevator and reached the bottom floor, grabbing a box of Chocolate robots.
She hummed as she noticed on the TV the match was playing and watched it from there.
As Hisoka's match ended, she ran to go and see him
"Hiso-Oniisan! You were cool!" Y/n cheered on her older brother as he patted her head as a thank you.
"Let's go back to your room~ I have now 7 wins and 1 lose~"
"I'm in the lead Hiso-Oniisan! I have 9 wins and 0 loses! Hehe!" She stuck her tongue out at him, giggling.
"Well Y/n~ How about we have a friendly sparing and see who wins~"
Hope you enjoyed! Hope you will Enjoy the next chapter (AKA chapter 16)

Deuteronomy 34:1 - Joshua 2:24, Luke 13:22-14:6, Psalms 79:1-13, Proverbs 12:26
Today is the 10th day of April welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I'm Brian it's wonderful to be here today as we reach the conclusion of another week. And today is the 100th day of the year. And, so, as we cross this mile marker, 100 days in the Scriptures together, we will conclude our reading of the Torah, the first five books of the Old Testament and move into some new territory. So, special day here. And as I was saying yesterday, those of us using the Daily Audio Bible app and kinda checking off the days as we read them, when we check off today's reading we’ll see, we’ll receive our…our Pentateuch our Torah badge telling as we completed this particular section of the Scriptures. And even though the story will just be going forward it really is a shift. It's like everything has been leading us to this point, and then we turn the page into the next book of the Bible, the book of Joshua and take that next step. But let's conclude the book of Deuteronomy first and then we'll talk…talk about the book of Joshua and…and dive in. So, today will read Deuteronomy chapter 34, the final chapter of Deuteronomy, and then we’ll launch into the first two chapters of Joshua. So, we’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week, which is today. Deuteronomy chapter 34.
Introduction to the book of Joshua:
That concludes the Torah and that concludes the book of Deuteronomy. So, we’re about to take that step forward into the book of Joshua. But let’s take a deep breath for a second and just let it go because we’re transitioning, and we just said goodbye to Moses. So, Moses has died, and we have traveled at length with Moses and we've been in the wilderness with the children of Israel and Moses, we’ve been slaves in Egypt when God comes to rescue them with Moses. But let’s also just remember where we've come from to get to this point. We remember meeting Abram. We remember his name being changed to Abraham. We remember a promise, a promise of land that he would go to, that he would be shown. And he obeyed God and he walked that land, the land of Canaan. And he had a son of promise there, Isaac and then Jacob. And then Jacob had children and those 12 were known as the children of Israel, and they all became tribes. We remember the lengthy story of Joseph and the way his family, his brothers, human trafficked him as a slave into Egypt and how he rose to be second in command because of his interpretation of dreams. We remember how the children of Israel, right, Joseph's brothers, how they got to Egypt, was because of a great famine and then they flourished in the land of Egypt and stayed there for four centuries, 400 years, and they grew into a mighty people that were enslaved by…by the Egyptians. Moses, we remember meeting Moses. Baby boy put into the river in a basket because it was commanded that all newborn baby boy children be thrown into the river to die. So, he was put into the river, all right. He was put into a basket that floated and Pharaoh's daughter found him. And, so, Moses, sort of had a dual upbringing where he understood that he was a Hebrew and was very interested in the Hebrew people, but also was brought up like royalty in Egypt, a well-educated person who ends up killing another Egyptian in favor of a Hebrew and then he has to go on the run for his life. That's where he finds a burning bush that will not be extinguished and God calls him to go back, to go back to land…to the land that he came from and to tell Pharaoh to let his people go. We went through all of that, all the plagues of Egypt, the entire wilderness experience. Everything has been leading us toward this land, this promised land that would one day belong to the children of Israel. We remember the spies going into that land and coming back and saying, we can't take that land and dooming an entire generation to the wilderness. Well, we’re back at the Jordan again and this time, this time we’re gonna finally cross it. It's almost mythic at this point because we’ve been heading toward it for so long and now it's actually time to cross the Jordan River. And Moses, he can’t go in. So, he dies on Mount Nebo after pass…passing the mantle of leadership to Joshua. Joshua is the name of the book that we’re about to read. Joshua we will remember was one of the spies. He had been kind of Moses's assistant. He had been mentored up under Moses for a very long time. So, the people know, Joshua, and as the mantle of authority passes to him, they all obey him, especially after the three discourses that make up the book of Deuteronomy where Moses is very, very clearly reviewing everything that they did and passing the authority to Joshua. So, we’re gonna begin reading the book of Joshua and we will pick up basically right where we left off, but we have to remember now Moses has died and the people have to mourn for him for a month. Joshua is now the leader of the children of Israel, and he is commissioned with leading the people into the promised land and taking the promised land and settling the promised land. And, so, we begin the book of Joshua, chapter 1.
Prayer:
Father we thank You for Your word and we thank You for bringing us successfully through another week and successfully through 100 days of this year. We are so grateful, and we are so thankful to have reached this point. And, so, as we leave this section of the Scriptures, these first five books and then move into…actually preparation…and then into the promised land that we’ve been moving toward so long, we invite Your Holy Spirit, certainly to help us to absorb the stories, but also to allow Your word to become the mirror into our souls and motivations because it is transforming us. We thank You for Your word. It…it calls us out. It…it looks us in the face and tells us the truth and challenges us, challenges us that…that there is more and that…and that we can…we can go there and that we can do better. So, we’re grateful for that. And, so, we mark this 100 days, we mark this transition into a new section of the Scriptures with worship and with a heart of gratitude. Lead us forward we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Hey family this is James in Fort Worth. I just want to pray that the Lord guides my words and I hope what I say helps and touches someone to move in a positive direction. Toda is April 6th my daughter's birthday will be April 14th. She passed away January 27th 2020 and I just…I just praise the Lord I thank the Lord for the fact…so many things…but the fact for almost 12 almost 13 years, you know, I was blessed with her. She lived a life that I always wanted to live. She lived a great life. She was a cheerleader, she was an athlete but she had asthma and that's what eventually took her life. But I know for a fact that the Lord has her. Her death has brought me closer to the Lord, closer than I've ever been. I don't think I would’ve been on this app without her passing. Her brothers and sisters they miss her. My wife. Camile, I pray for her, she misses…I miss her. You don't have... as a parent you don't have favorite kids, but you know, she was my favorite person on this planet. Lord I just want to thank you. I want to thank you. I want to pray for the parents who have lost children. __ Tony in Cleveland. I want to pray for you guys. I hope that you find the joy. I know it's a cliche when people tell you, O she's in a better place and they tell you she's in a better place. Trust me when I tell you they’re with the Lord. I’ve seen things that are supernatural that I would not have believed but I know my daughter Ryan is with the Lord. You couldn't tell me otherwise. I'm going to pray for the parents who lost children. I want to pray for the people around the world who've lost people during this COVID-19. But Lord I just want to thank you. I want to praise you. I want to continue to praise you. Thank you, father. In Jesus’ name.
Hey family it's Jesse from Washington it's like Tuesday something-th. And, so, Holy Spirit's been…been on me to…well I'm supposed to be talking to people, I'm supposed to be telling them and we all are actually, but I've been slacking because he's just been…he's been on me every day and I haven't been doing it and just making excuses. And there's a guy at work, he's been suicidal, and he attempted suicide like two or three months ago and his wife's divorcing him and you know left him and took the kids and he's just kind of in a rough spot and he's kind of one of those no nonsense guys and I've…I'm supposed…I've supposed to tell him for over a month now, I’m supposed to talk to him and I haven't done it. And finally, I talked to him today. And we're like closing up the shop and like three times I'm like no…no…no God I'll talk to him later. And finally, when we were both pulling out I just pulled up next to him and talked to him and man it was…shouldn’t have been that difficult but it was. But I did it and I just want to ask you all to…to lift up Colin, that he'll just accept God's outreached hand and embrace it and start to recognize it in his life because he's a good guy and it sucks to see him hurt.
Hi family this is Biola from Maryland I hope you're all doing well. Brian and Jill God bless you. God bless your family. China I'm rooting for you and I'm praying that you have a safe and easy delivery in Jesus’ name. Sister who called in about her 89-year-old mother. Sister I want to remind you that the Lord is faithful regarding his promises. Don't forget that your mother, you're not the one that's responsible for bringing her to Jesus. People have sown seeds into her life including you. Another person will water, and the Holy Spirit will bring the increase. And my prayer for your mother sister is that God will touch her heart, soften her heart, woo her to Him and that He will prolong her life. Bible says that the Lord is not willing for any top perish and is patient to all of us. And I pray that your mother's eyes will be opened the scales will fall from her eyes and she will come to love the Lord Jesus in the name of Jesus. I also pray that for your nephew and the members of your family who do not know the Lord. God bless you sister. Caitlin I'm praying for you. My heart just went out to you as I heard the divorce that your husband had asked for. Sister I just want to encourage you to just, you know, be at peace. I know it's not easy but be at peace and let the Lord work what is gonna work in your husband's heart. And I pray that, you know, what the Lord has started He will complete. So, and then teacher, James the teacher, I’m praying for you that God would comfort your heart and God will step into your situation and also touch your wife's heart. In the name of Jesus.
Good morning DAB family this is Sally Amazed by Grace in Massachusetts. I…I listen every day and I'm so thankful like many others for this community for this opportunity to hear God's word, to meditate on it and to be strengthened through Brian's commentary. Lord, I just thank you for this community, for Brian and the whole team that makes it possible for us to be together. And I am thankful for each one of you who call in and encourage and sing songs and share your burdens. We are so blessed to be here together, God's family. And this morning Katie called telling us that her husband of seven years wants a divorce. And this is such a hard hard thing Lord for Katie and for her children. And, so, I lift up Katie to You Lord and I pray Lord that You would just bring her comfort and her peace. Lord, You tell us in John 16:33 Jesus said I tell You these things so that in me You may have peace. In the world You have trouble but being of good cheer I’ve overcome the world. O God I pray for Katie as she cares and loves these dear children and she looks to You to be her protector, her refuge, strength. I pray for this Young man Lord. Open his eyes to his need of You, his wife's need, his children's needs. O great and holy and powerful God I pray Your mercy and power in this family and other women who are facing a similar situation and men. Lord just strengthen them in Your great love and grace to know that You are with them in Jesus’ name. Thank you.
Hey this is an encouragement for Brian. This is Micah in Awe. I just want…I just wanted to thank you again for the way that this is laid out, that you laid out DAB. Whenever I pick people up…I bring people to and from dialysis and I bring kids to and from school districts when they move out of a school district. So, in the morning I listen to DAB regardless, but I try to get the Old Testament listened to because there's some stuff in there that's just sometimes it's really hard to just jump right into without knowing the context. But anyway, so when the kids get in the car, I try to have the New Testament about to come on, right, and already playing. So, then they hear the New Testament the Psalm the Proverb and then your insight and then the prayer before they get dropped off. It always…like it always usually works out that way, that they get dropped off like right at the end of the prayer. It's so cool. So, they get to see how a Christian lives. We take in the scripture then we apply the scripture. Your insight shows how we apply it. And then we pray for each other and give encouragement. So, every day these kids are seeing what a Christian is, how Christians do. And I just think it's an awesome thing. And I can start it over and do it for each kid. And I do it for adults that I bring to dialysis to. So, thank you so much for this. And I want to ask all you DABbers out there to pray for these kids, they get in the car, that the seed will be planted and that the soil would be good. There's a scripture that says His word will not return to Him void. I just want to ask you to pray for an abundant increase in these kids understanding of who God is and what the Christian life is all about. You're touching generations, all of you. And Brian this is messing with the next generation. It's awesome. I love you guys.

Best rap, 2017
In 2007, I thought I was very fast. That fall, I was one of the top sophomores at the Minnesota high school cross country state championships, which, believe it or not, are very competitive as far as high school cross country state championships go. Then it was winter. There’s no indoor track season in Minnesota; I played hockey, like I had for my entire life to that point, but I also ran 60 miles a week in toques and gloves and terrible things called “wind briefs.” I got ambitious and decided that in the spring, I wanted to be the fastest 15-year-old in the state, the Midwest, maybe the country.
But in the first week of outdoor track, in the middle of a mile repeat workout we were running on the sidewalk (there was snow on the track), I felt bones splinter. There were stress fractures up and down my left tibia.
Every afternoon for the next twelve weeks, I had to find a ride from my high school down to a suburban YMCA, chosen because it had a reliably deserted pool. I needed to get in some sort of cardio with zero impact on my bones. If you’ve never seen someone water run, it looks like a recurring nightmare playing out under fluorescent lights: a skeletally thin person in the water, upright, making all the movements he or she would make on the track, but moving impossibly slow, back and forth, end to end. It’s like quicksand. I would sweat and strain and grit my teeth, but I was barely moving.
A couple weeks into my muggy purgatory, my friend Collin burned me a CD of an obscure album he’d found on a Wordpress blog. It was called Brokelore and was by someone named Grip Grand––clearly from the Bay, but we couldn’t find anything else about him.
It blew me away. I listened to it every day, to and from the Y, in headphones or out of those primitive aux hookups that plugged into the cassette decks in my friends’ cars. He sounded gruff and grizzled, but we had no idea what he looked like. (Eventually, Collin found a short interview Grip had done with a blog, but we assumed the press photo was of the blogger, not the rapper. Sorry, Grip.)
The record’s mostly self-produced; the beats have a little grit and a lot of warmth. Grip’s voice is tough, but elastic enough to bounce and bend and let the humor through. Grip is quick and witty, but threads the record with these incredibly earnest love letters to rap: "96 Tears” is an extended lyrical exercise, “Hip-Hop Classic” is the sound of someone pounding his fist on a computer desk, searching. There’s a song with Percee P (”Paper Cup”) and a song where Grip thanks Percee P for dropping that verse (”Showtime (That’s Entertainment)”). There’s “Handle That,” which was probably conceived as a parody of popular rap styles at the time but got mutated along the way and sounds like a good-faith alien transmission; there’s distortion and vocal modulation and lines like “While you pretend to be sick like Ferris Bueller / Grip Grand drop gems like a careless jeweler.”
But it’s called Brokelore. This was a few months before the financial collapse; this was Oakland and San Francisco and the shadow of the early tech boom. Sometimes Grip and his Rec League comrades broach this with a light touch, cashing bad checks and skirting tax forms. (One of the album’s highlights is the remix of “Poppin’ Pockets,” where Grip and A.G. (!) rap joyously about having absolutely zero money.) Then there are the graver moments: “Out of Service” is a half-dreamed conversation with a factory worker who’s in limbo at a bus stop; it’s tearjerking but never treacly. “Tomorrow” is sorrowful.
And then there’s “Love/Drama” which––this is not an exaggeration––is one of the most deeply felt rap songs I’ve ever heard. It’s structured as a letter back to a writer who ripped his last record, Welcome to Broakland. An artist responding to criticism looks defensive––and that’s the point. In the space of a few bars, the song unspools into a catalog of Grip’s deepest fears as an artist.
“My whole albums’s a jack: “Impeach the President?” Yo, how done is that? Tribute to early rap? DIY ethic? No, a piss-poor producer—take my name off the credits.”
The song wraps up with a venomous couplet:“You’re so astute brah, every minute flaw, you heard it / Can’t wait to hear your album, it must be perfect.” But he’s not brushing off the critic. “Love/Drama” isn’t about brushing off a detractor, it’s about scratching and clawing and stretching $10 in groceries for a whole week, pouring yourself into a record only for it to be...fine. The kicker, then, is that Grip Grand internalized all of that and made a masterpiece.
I say all that to say this: I don’t know if I would have found Brokelore today. Ten years after the fact, it’s ostensibly my job to find and write criticism of rap music, including obscure releases like this. But the economics of the media industry are strange: while it seems clear that people still want to discover new music, it’s difficult to get anybody to click on articles that present it. Music discovery has moved mostly to the curated playlists at streaming sites (so, radio) and there are fewer and fewer places willing to publish full-scale album reviews for artists who are untested or unsigned. I don’t spend enough time in pools.
Of course, there are still massive communities of rap fans who dig for new material. But as it becomes more difficult to make a living covering it––and with the collapse of the blog world, which was invaluable for fans and artists in the mid- and late-2000s––there’s less time and attention given to smaller artists. Especially the kinds of time and attention that can be turned into money. (On that count, I physically recoil imagining how much bleaker the Bay Grip rendered on Brokelore has gotten.)
The good news is that rap is in an exceptional place right now. There are vibrant underground scenes in cities across the country. In 2018, I’m resolving to take time, stay still, and appreciate rappers who would otherwise go uncovered.
Notes/methodology: This list, obviously, includes both songs and albums. In most of the cases where either an album or a song from it could have made my top sixty, I chose whichever entry would rank higher, i.e.- I think “The Story of O.J.” is one of the ten best rap things from this year, while 4:44 as an album would rank a couple dozen spots lower. There are exceptions. “We Ball” would probably be among my top ten entries, but I wanted to give a nod to Meek Mill’s album because it hasn’t left rotation since it came out. Similar case with Boosie: “Webbie I Remember” could easily be in my top five, but BooPac should be on everyone’s radar, even if it’s ninety minutes. Slow down.

11th April >> Mass Readings (USA)
Holy Saturday
(Liturgical colour: White)
(There is no Mass on Holy Saturday itself. Here are the readings for the evening Easter Vigil)
First Reading
Genesis 1:1—2:2
God looked at everything he had made, and he found it very good.
In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless wasteland, and darkness covered the abyss, while a mighty wind swept over the waters.
Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw how good the light was. God then separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” Thus evening came, and morning followed—the first day.
Then God said, “Let there be a dome in the middle of the waters, to separate one body of water from the other.” And so it happened: God made the dome, and it separated the water above the dome from the water below it. God called the dome “the sky.” Evening came, and morning followed—the second day.
Then God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered into a single basin, so that the dry land may appear.” And so it happened: the water under the sky was gathered into its basin, and the dry land appeared. God called the dry land “the earth,” and the basin of the water he called “the sea.” God saw how good it was. Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth vegetation: every kind of plant that bears seed and every kind of fruit tree on earth that bears fruit with its seed in it.” And so it happened: the earth brought forth every kind of plant that bears seed and every kind of fruit tree on earth that bears fruit with its seed in it. God saw how good it was. Evening came, and morning followed—the third day.
Then God said: “Let there be lights in the dome of the sky, to separate day from night. Let them mark the fixed times, the days and the years, and serve as luminaries in the dome of the sky, to shed light upon the earth.” And so it happened: God made the two great lights, the greater one to govern the day, and the lesser one to govern the night; and he made the stars. God set them in the dome of the sky, to shed light upon the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. God saw how good it was. Evening came, and morning followed—the fourth day.
Then God said, “Let the water teem with an abundance of living creatures, and on the earth let birds fly beneath the dome of the sky.” And so it happened: God created the great sea monsters and all kinds of swimming creatures with which the water teems, and all kinds of winged birds. God saw how good it was, and God blessed them, saying, “Be fertile, multiply, and fill the water of the seas; and let the birds multiply on the earth.” Evening came, and morning followed—the fifth day.
Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth all kinds of living creatures: cattle, creeping things, and wild animals of all kinds.” And so it happened: God made all kinds of wild animals, all kinds of cattle, and all kinds of creeping things of the earth. God saw how good it was.
Then God said: “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and the cattle, and over all the wild animals and all the creatures that crawl on the ground.”
God created man in his image;
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
God blessed them, saying: “Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all the living things that move on the earth.” God also said: “See, I give you every seed-bearing plant all over the earth and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit on it to be your food; and to all the animals of the land, all the birds of the air, and all the living creatures that crawl on the ground, I give all the green plants for food.” And so it happened. God looked at everything he had made, and he found it very good. Evening came, and morning followed—the sixth day.
Thus the heavens and the earth and all their array were completed. Since on the seventh day God was finished with the work he had been doing, he rested on the seventh day from all the work he had undertaken.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God
Psalm
Psalm 104:1–2, 5–6, 10, 12, 13–14, 24, 35
R/ Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.
Bless the Lord, O my soul!
O Lord, my God, you are great indeed!
You are clothed with majesty and glory,
robed in light as with a cloak.
R/ Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.
You fixed the earth upon its foundation,
not to be moved forever;
with the ocean, as with a garment, you covered it;
above the mountains the waters stood.
R/ Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.
You send forth springs into the watercourses
that wind among the mountains.
Beside them the birds of heaven dwell;
from among the branches they send forth their song.
R/ Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.
You water the mountains from your palace;
the earth is replete with the fruit of your works.
You raise grass for the cattle,
and vegetation for man’s use,
producing bread from the earth.
R/ Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.
How manifold are your works, O Lord!
In wisdom you have wrought them all—
the earth is full of your creatures.
Bless the Lord, O my soul!
R/ Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.

Genesis 22:1–18
The sacrifice of Abraham, our father in faith.
God put Abraham to the test. He called to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. Then God said: “Take your son Isaac, your only one, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah. There you shall offer him up as a holocaust on a height that I will point out to you.” Early the next morning Abraham saddled his donkey, took with him his son Isaac and two of his servants as well, and with the wood that he had cut for the holocaust, set out for the place of which God had told him.
On the third day Abraham got sight of the place from afar. Then he said to his servants: “Both of you stay here with the donkey, while the boy and I go on over yonder. We will worship and then come back to you.” Thereupon Abraham took the wood for the holocaust and laid it on his son Isaac’s shoulders, while he himself carried the fire and the knife. As the two walked on together, Isaac spoke to his father Abraham: “Father!” Isaac said. “Yes, son,” he replied. Isaac continued, “Here are the fire and the wood, but where is the sheep for the holocaust?” “Son,” Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the sheep for the holocaust.” Then the two continued going forward.
When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. Next he tied up his son Isaac, and put him on top of the wood on the altar. Then he reached out and took the knife to slaughter his son. But the Lord’s messenger called to him from heaven, “Abraham, Abraham!” “Here I am,” he answered. “Do not lay your hand on the boy,” said the messenger. “Do not do the least thing to him. I know now how devoted you are to God, since you did not withhold from me your own beloved son.” As Abraham looked about, he spied a ram caught by its horns in the thicket. So he went and took the ram and offered it up as a holocaust in place of his son. Abraham named the site Yahweh-yireh; hence people now say, “On the mountain the Lord will see.”
Again the Lord’s messenger called to Abraham from heaven and said: “I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you acted as you did in not withholding from me your beloved son, I will bless you abundantly and make your descendants as countless as the stars of the sky and the sands of the seashore; your descendants shall take possession of the gates of their enemies, and in your descendants all the nations of the earth shall find blessing— all this because you obeyed my command.”

Psalm 16:5, 8, 9–10, 11
R/ You are my inheritance, O Lord.
O Lord, my allotted portion and my cup,
you it is who hold fast my lot.
I set the Lord ever before me;
with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed.
R/ You are my inheritance, O Lord.

Third Reading
Exodus 14:15—15:1
The Israelites marched on dry land through the midst of the sea.
The Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to go forward. And you, lift up your staff and, with hand outstretched over the sea, split the sea in two, that the Israelites may pass through it on dry land. But I will make the Egyptians so obstinate that they will go in after them. Then I will receive glory through Pharaoh and all his army, his chariots and charioteers. The Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I receive glory through Pharaoh and his chariots and charioteers.”
The angel of God, who had been leading Israel’s camp, now moved and went around behind them. The column of cloud also, leaving the front, took up its place behind them, so that it came between the camp of the Egyptians and that of Israel. But the cloud now became dark, and thus the night passed without the rival camps coming any closer together all night long. Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord swept the sea with a strong east wind throughout the night and so turned it into dry land. When the water was thus divided, the Israelites marched into the midst of the sea on dry land, with the water like a wall to their right and to their left.
The Egyptians followed in pursuit; all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and charioteers went after them right into the midst of the sea. In the night watch just before dawn the Lord cast through the column of the fiery cloud upon the Egyptian force a glance that threw it into a panic; and he so clogged their chariot wheels that they could hardly drive. With that the Egyptians sounded the retreat before Israel, because the Lord was fighting for them against the Egyptians. Then the Lord told Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may flow back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots and their charioteers.” So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at dawn the sea flowed back to its normal depth. The Egyptians were fleeing head on toward the sea, when the Lord hurled them into its midst. As the water flowed back, it covered the chariots and the charioteers of Pharaoh’s whole army which had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not a single one of them escaped. But the Israelites had marched on dry land through the midst of the sea, with the water like a wall to their right and to their left. Thus the Lord saved Israel on that day from the power of the Egyptians. When Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the seashore and beheld the great power that the Lord had shown against the Egyptians, they feared the Lord and believed in him and in his servant Moses.
Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord:
I will sing to the Lord, for he is gloriously triumphant;
horse and chariot he has cast into the sea.

Isaiah 54:5–14
With enduring love, the Lord your redeemer takes pity on you.
The One who has become your husband is your Maker;
his name is the Lord of hosts;
your redeemer is the Holy One of Israel,
called God of all the earth.
The Lord calls you back,
like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit,
a wife married in youth and then cast off,
says your God.
For a brief moment I abandoned you,
but with great tenderness I will take you back.
In an outburst of wrath, for a moment
I hid my face from you;
but with enduring love I take pity on you,
says the Lord, your redeemer.
This is for me like the days of Noah,
when I swore that the waters of Noah
should never again deluge the earth;
so I have sworn not to be angry with you,
or to rebuke you.
Though the mountains leave their place
and the hills be shaken,
my love shall never leave you
nor my covenant of peace be shaken,
says the Lord, who has mercy on you.
O afflicted one, storm-battered and unconsoled,
I lay your pavements in carnelians,
and your foundations in sapphires;
I will make your battlements of rubies,
your gates of carbuncles,
and all your walls of precious stones.
All your children shall be taught by the Lord,
and great shall be the peace of your children.
In justice shall you be established,
far from the fear of oppression,
where destruction cannot come near you.

Isaiah 55:1–11
Come to me that you may have life. I will renew with you an everlasting covenant.
Thus says the Lord:
All you who are thirsty,
come to the water!
You who have no money,
come, receive grain and eat;
come, without paying and without cost,
drink wine and milk!
Why spend your money for what is not bread,
your wages for what fails to satisfy?
Heed me, and you shall eat well,
you shall delight in rich fare.
Come to me heedfully,
listen, that you may have life.
I will renew with you the everlasting covenant,
the benefits assured to David.
As I made him a witness to the peoples,
a leader and commander of nations,
so shall you summon a nation you knew not,
and nations that knew you not shall run to you,
because of the Lord, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, who has glorified you.
Seek the Lord while he may be found,
call him while he is near.
Let the scoundrel forsake his way,
and the wicked man his thoughts;
let him turn to the Lord for mercy;
to our God, who is generous in forgiving.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord.
As high as the heavens are above the earth,
so high are my ways above your ways
and my thoughts above your thoughts.
For just as from the heavens
the rain and snow come down
and do not return there
till they have watered the earth,
making it fertile and fruitful,
giving seed to the one who sows
and bread to the one who eats,
so shall my word be
that goes forth from my mouth;
my word shall not return to me void,
but shall do my will,
achieving the end for which I sent it.

Sixth Reading
Baruch 3:9–15, 32—4:4
Walk toward the splendor of the Lord.
Hear, O Israel, the commandments of life:
listen, and know prudence!
How is it, Israel,
that you are in the land of your foes,
grown old in a foreign land,
defiled with the dead,
accounted with those destined for the netherworld?
You have forsaken the fountain of wisdom!
Had you walked in the way of God,
you would have dwelt in enduring peace.
Learn where prudence is,
where strength, where understanding;
that you may know also
where are length of days, and life,
where light of the eyes, and peace.
Who has found the place of wisdom,
who has entered into her treasuries?
The One who knows all things knows her;
he has probed her by his knowledge—
the One who established the earth for all time,
and filled it with four-footed beasts;
he who dismisses the light, and it departs,
calls it, and it obeys him trembling;
before whom the stars at their posts
shine and rejoice;
when he calls them, they answer, “Here we are!”
shining with joy for their Maker.
Such is our God;
no other is to be compared to him:
he has traced out the whole way of understanding,
and has given her to Jacob, his servant,
to Israel, his beloved son.
Since then she has appeared on earth,
and moved among people.
She is the book of the precepts of God,
the law that endures forever;
all who cling to her will live,
but those will die who forsake her.
Turn, O Jacob, and receive her:
walk by her light toward splendor.
Give not your glory to another,
your privileges to an alien race.
Blessed are we, O Israel;
for what pleases God is known to us!

Ezekiel 36:16–17a, 18–28
I shall sprinkle clean water upon you and I shall give you a new heart.
The word of the Lord came to me, saying: Son of man, when the house of Israel lived in their land, they defiled it by their conduct and deeds. Therefore I poured out my fury upon them because of the blood that they poured out on the ground, and because they defiled it with idols. I scattered them among the nations, dispersing them over foreign lands; according to their conduct and deeds I judged them. But when they came among the nations wherever they came, they served to profane my holy name, because it was said of them: “These are the people of the Lord, yet they had to leave their land.” So I have relented because of my holy name which the house of Israel profaned among the nations where they came. Therefore say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord God: Not for your sakes do I act, house of Israel, but for the sake of my holy name, which you profaned among the nations to which you came. I will prove the holiness of my great name, profaned among the nations, in whose midst you have profaned it. Thus the nations shall know that I am the Lord, says the Lord God, when in their sight I prove my holiness through you. For I will take you away from among the nations, gather you from all the foreign lands, and bring you back to your own land. I will sprinkle clean water upon you to cleanse you from all your impurities, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you, taking from your bodies your stony hearts and giving you natural hearts. I will put my spirit within you and make you live by my statutes, careful to observe my decrees. You shall live in the land I gave your fathers; you shall be my people, and I will be your God.

Romans 6:3–11
Christ, raised from the dead, dies no more.
Brothers and sisters: Are you unaware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were indeed buried with him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live in newness of life.
For if we have grown into union with him through a death like his, we shall also be united with him in the resurrection. We know that our old self was crucified with him, so that our sinful body might be done away with, that we might no longer be in slavery to sin. For a dead person has been absolved from sin. If, then, we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him. We know that Christ, raised from the dead, dies no more; death no longer has power over him. As to his death, he died to sin once and for all; as to his life, he lives for God. Consequently, you too must think of yourselves as being dead to sin and living for God in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 28:1–10
He has been raised from the dead and is going before you to Galilee.
After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, approached, rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. His appearance was like lightning and his clothing was white as snow. The guards were shaken with fear of him and became like dead men. Then the angel said to the women in reply, “Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead, and he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him.’ Behold, I have told you.” Then they went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce this to his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”

What’s wrong with the Browns and Odell Beckham Jr.?
Odell Beckham Jr. and the Browns have both had a disappointing 2019 season.
Beckham is getting fewer targets in Cleveland, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
In the fall of 2018, Odell Beckham Jr. got frustrated with the New York Giants and his lack of targets downfield. In the fall of 2019, Odell Beckham Jr. is frustrated with the Cleveland Browns and his lack of targets downfield.
The All-Pro wide receiver couldn’t get quarterback Baker Mayfield’s attention on a pivotal fourth-down play in a 24-19 Week 9 loss to the Broncos. After that pass instead went to a double-covered Jarvis Landry, Beckham was visibly frustrated and could be heard telling teammates: “I can’t get the ball to save my life.”
His Browns, favored to win the AFC North this preseason, are now 2-6 — worse than they were in 2018 when Hue Jackson was fired after a 2-5-1 start.
Beckham didn’t point fingers when he was asked about his play in the locker room. That doesn’t mean he was happy about one losing team behind for another last offseason.

Beckham expected better in Cleveland. The Browns worked hard to build around his unique talent. Somehow, it’s failed to work out for either side.
The Browns aren’t giving Beckham the opportunities the Giants did
Beckham’s frustration at the end of Sunday’s loss is understandable. While he finished his game with five catches and 87 yards — the third-most yards he’s gained as a Brown this season — he had only six targets in a game where Mayfield threw the ball 42 times. A seventh target could have been the difference between victory and defeat. Here’s what Beckham did on fourth-and-4, when Mayfield threw the ball to a fully blanketed Landry instead.
Baker went across the middle to Landry with two defenders instead. Ouch. pic.twitter.com/bB0zlW3tgV
— Will Brinson (@WillBrinson) November 4, 2019
This was made even more egregious by the wizardry Beckham had pulled off four plays earlier. He’d pushed Cleveland into Denver territory with the kind of insane catch that should have convinced everyone on the Browns sideline to throw the ball to the former Giant at every single opportunity:
ODELL HOW @obj pic.twitter.com/7hZ60HS9AU
— The Checkdown (@thecheckdown) November 4, 2019
That turned out to be the last target Beckham got on Sunday. And it wasn’t that surprising.
Through eight games, the All-Pro is tied with Landry as the Browns’ most wanted receiver; each has been targeted 67 times. But there’s been a major difference. Beckham hasn’t exactly been utilized like a generational WR1, but he also hasn’t exactly inspired confidence in his connection with Mayfield. Here’s how it looks in advanced data after Sunday’s loss, per Pro Football Focus (with an assist from SIS).
Mayfield’s targeting Jarvis slightly further downfield than Beckham, but he’s also hit him with lower-quality passes. Jarvis is doing more with less than his new teammate, thanks in part to Beckham’s uncharacteristic drop rate through the first nine weeks of the season. Other than that, the two have had a fairly similar impact in the Browns’ offense — which is fine, just not enough to make a huge impact for a team whose playoff chances have been crushed into powder.
But how does Beckham’s 2019 situation compare with his last two years in New York? Here’s how those midseason numbers look contrasted against the 16 games he played over the 2017 and 2018 seasons with the Giants:
So yes, Beckham hasn’t been super reliable in 2019, but he has a case here if he’s wondering if he’s being sold short. After thinking he’d been freed from the low-wattage passing of late-stage Manning to thrive alongside a blossoming young passer, he’s instead getting targets from Eli 2.0 (or Young Eli, which I will soon be pitching to CBS, please do not steal my sitcom idea). Manning’s QB rating when targeting Beckham his last two seasons as a Giant was 93.9. Mayfield’s is 72.7.
Beckham averaged 10.5 targets per game as the crown jewel of the Giants’ passing game from 2014-18. In the four seasons where he played 12 weeks or more with New York, no one else on the roster averaged more than 7.9.
Now he’s sharing space in the crown alongside Landry and that number is down to 8.4 — same as his former LSU teammate and current formation bookend.
That’s how Beckham is getting the ball less on a pass-heavy team that’s needed come-from-behind efforts in the majority of its games this year. The occasionally superhuman wideout hasn’t seen an uptick in targets or wins since leaving Manning behind. Part of that is due to the Browns’ inability to naturally incorporate him in the offense that took the league by surprise in late 2018. It’s also fair to say he hasn’t been as consistent as Landry, who already has a full year of playing with Mayfield under his belt.
Spreading the ball away from his top WR is what got Freddie Kitchens the Browns’ job in the first place
Kitchens was a breath of fresh air for the Browns after being promoted to interim offensive coordinator last season. His predecessor, Todd Haley, leaned heavily on Landry to prop up an undermanned unit. Cleveland was singularly focused, predictable, and easy to stop in that 2-5-1 start.
Kitchens flipped the switch and empowered Mayfield to turn anyone who lined up as eligible into a weapon. Landry’s targets fell from 11.8 per game (and a 52 percent catch rate) to 6.9 and a 58 percent catch rate as the team rallied to a 5-3 finish with players like Duke Johnson, David Njoku, Antonio Callaway, and Ravens castoff Breshad Perriman all leading the team in receiving yards in various games. Mayfield played MVP-caliber football behind center in that stretch, throwing 19 touchdowns en route to a 106.4 passer rating over the last half of his rookie campaign.
That passing diversity has waned in 2019 due to a few reasons: Beckham’s arrival, Callaway’s four-game suspension to start the season, and Njoku landing on injured reserve foremost among them. But while Beckham may not be getting the targets he’d like, his presence has definitely changed Kitchens’ and Mayfield’s chemistry compared to the last half of 2018. Here’s what that looked like last year:
And here’s what it looks like through half of Kitchens’ first year as head coach.
Cleveland has altered its offensive DNA and is worse off for it. That’s not to put the blame at Beckham’s feet, however. Mayfield and the offensive line have regressed. The creativity that marked Kitchens’ ascendance has been in short supply. The rest of the Browns have woken up to find it’s 6 a.m. on Feb. 2 once again, and that they’d better not forget their booties because it’s coooooooold out there.
How do the Browns fix this AND keep Beckham happy?
Great question. The first and most obvious fix is to hit Beckham on fourth down when he’s streaking down the sideline with a cornerback three yards in his wake. The Browns know that, so let’s assume they’ll start there.
The other part of the equation requires building Mayfield back up to a Pro Bowl level. He’s got a long way to go after leading the league in interceptions through half the 2019 season. The second-year quarterback has yet to throw multiple touchdown passes in a single game despite one of the league’s most powerful 1-2 punches at wideout. While an offensive line that’s allowed his sack rate to spike deserves some (but not total) blame, Mayfield has looked lost in the pocket. The confidence that had simmered to a boil the past four years is nowhere to be found.
Throwing the ball to Beckham in times of crisis could help, but it behooves Kitchens to involve more of his offensive weapons. That’s going to be a little difficult without Njoku in the lineup. Without 2018’s second-most targeted player, Cleveland’s tight ends (Ricky Seals-Jones, Demetrius Harris, and Pharaoh Brown) have combined for 19 catches through half a season.
But there are players available who can thrive in the space created by Beckham and Landry and reduce the amount of double-teams those two see. Callaway was solid as a rookie but has struggled to regain that form as his yards-per-target number has dropped from an efficient 10.3 over the last half of 2018 to 5.9 in his four games this season. Rekindling that downfield connection would be a boon for Cleveland’s lost passing game.
Although Duke Johnson is gone, Week 10 will mark the first game the Browns will have former Chief Kareem Hunt in the lineup following his eight-game suspension for violations of the league’s personal conduct policy. While Nick Chubb has been useful as a receiver in the backfield, he’s averaging more than four fewer yards per catch in 2019 than Hunt has averaged in his NFL career.
Other contributors like Damion Ratley, KhaDarel Hodge, Rashard Higgins, Taywan Taylor, and tailback Dontrell Hilliard could all help prop up Mayfield’s passing attack. Kitchens’ turning them into stars may be a long shot — but hey, he turned Perriman into the team’s top wideout on multiple occasions last fall, so let’s not put anything past him.
Kitchens is still calling the plays in Cleveland and has no plans to give that up. There’s still hope he can turn things around, especially if he can remember what got him there. But he’s got to walk a tightrope between keeping his offense functional and getting Beckham the targets he deserves without breaking his gameplan. That is a fine line for any coach — especially one who had never been so much as a full-time coordinator before 2019.
Kitchens is feeling his seat warm up just nine weeks into his head coaching debut. That can change as his receiving corps grows together, Mayfield finds a way out of this sophomore funk, and the budding young coach stops overthinking his world and gets back to the freewheeling philosophies that made him an intriguing offensive coordinator. It can also sew seeds of discontent that lead to irreconcilable differences and trade demands.
The Browns hope this case will be the former. Their history suggests it’ll more likely be the latter.

It's only 8 hours to Keokuk Ragbrai, he said... https://ift.tt/2YvauPc
It's only 8 hours to Keokuk Ragbrai, he said... We ate way to much in Memphis and crashed at the hotel. Our idea of sleeping in was 6:00 a.m. Yes, we are bad at vacations. I decided to take care of some work things, and Teresa decided to complete some school items before we got started with our 2nd travel day. It was only going to be an 8 hour drive so we weren't in any hurry. As we debated on whether or not to U-turn and head to the Bass Pro Pyramid, we crossed into Arkansas and decided to save that Pharaoh sized adventure for the next time we were in Memphis. Onward North ish! After about 10 minutes I pulled out my little blue Passport To Your National Parks book and started looking for cancellation stamp locations we could stop at along the way. Sure, we may have to detour a little bit, but YOLO, right? I also took the time to determine the possibility of stamps within the U.S. Forest Service - Mark Twain National Forest. We've noticed that while a lot of National Parks have these stamps, the National Forests may or may not. Given there are many, many visitor and Ranger Stations in any given National Forest, the chances of stumbling on the right one, with the stamp, is really a gamble. Regardless, I made my pick and Poplar Bluff Ranger Station would be our first stop on our way to the Ozark National Scenic Riverways Visitor center. Going off the interstate. 3/4 tank of gas. I chose well from the 20 or so options for Mark Twain National Forest Ranger Stations and the Poplar Bluff location delivered! It ended up being on the outskirts of the forest and the employees were very eager to help with the stamps and provide some additional recommendations for places to stop. I love the US National Parks & U.S. Forest Service employees/Rangers. They really enjoy the outdoors and are eager to share and help! With my book stamped, more maps in hand, and a couple of brochures we were back on the road headed to Ozark National Scenic Riverway. 1/2 tank of gas. Again, the Ranger was extremely helpful. I got my stamps and we walked around the little museum/visitor center. "Someone" wanted to swim so we got a recommendation that was only 5 miles away at Big Spring along the Current River. We headed down the road. 1/4 tank of gas.
The plan was to take a "short" walk and a "quick" swim. We kind of got lost because of a closed bridge, but we found it. Our walk was longer as we were looking for a secluded area to swim. We found a nice spot along the shore and started making out, like teenagers. Aw. Then some boats came so we moved on. Then we found a very romantic overlook viewing the area where the river and the spring met and kind of started necking, again. Aw. Then we realized we were in direct line-of-site of the main (only) road. Cars came so we moved on. We finally jumped in the river and frolicked for a little bit. It was a fun side trip, but we had more to do and headed toward Elephant Rocks State Park. 1/8 tank of gas. So there aren't many options for gas stations in the Mark Twain National Forest. At this point in the day, the low fuel light was on and the needle was reading "E." We're winding through two lane, desolate roads, when we saw a sign: "Highest Point in Missouri." YYYYYAAAAAASSSSS. So I made the turn and we started driving up. Fuel for our vehicle could wait. This impulse stop wasn't even a possibility of a stamp, but how often do you drive by the highest point in Missouri? Pavement ended and we entered the gravel road to the Taum Sauk Mountain State Park. We got out and saw the "marker." It's not a typical peak. We just as quickly jumped back in the car and ventured to a close Taum Sauk Lookout Tower. From the top we could see the Taum Sauk Reservoir. It was pretty cool! Back in the car. Mission Alpha: Find a Gas Station. Low fuel light on for 20+ miles. There is exactly 1 gas station between the highest point in Missouri and the Elephant Rocks State Park and we JUST made it on tank fumes. Breathing a sigh of relieve and realizing it was getting kind of late, we continued to Elephant Rocks State Park. We obeyed the no swimming signs, but it was increasingly harder to keep Teresa from removing clothes and jumping off the big boulders into a spring fed lake. The pink granite rocks were impressive and EVERYWHERE. It as a great stop. When we got back in the car, the GPS indicated we still had 6 hours to Keokuk. I truly thought it was lying. It was not. We were still very much south-west of St. Louis. Kevin Swenson heroically waited up and flagged us down in front of a Middle School Gym. He then showed us the place he and Kelly saved for us to sleep, helped us set up my hammock and Teresa's sleeping bag, and immediately and impressively fell fast asleep on his air mattress. I don't know how Kelly slept through all Teresa's beating and banging. Pro-tip: Sleeping in a gym with a bunch of strangers is not as glamorous as it sounds. I was to sober and my ear plugs didn't help a lot.
Regardless, we had made it to Iowa and that's how an 8 hour driver turned into a 13 hour adventure. As far as the story telling goes, I'm still 2 days away from the actual cycling on our cycling trip! You'll notice there was no mention of a food stop. I don't think we stopped for food. I managed to keep Hangry Patrick at bay with a cooler full of snacks - this was a miracle in and of itself.

Monday: Reflection on the Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Revised Common Lectionary Proper 14 Roman Catholic Proper 19
Until Advent we have two series of readings, complementary and semi-continuous. Most denominations allow pastors to choose from either series. More information about the two series is here: Which Series?
Complementary Hebrew Scripture from the Torah: Genesis 7:11-8:5
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened. The rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights. On the very same day Noah with his sons, Shem and Ham and Japheth, and Noah's wife and the three wives of his sons entered the ark, they and every wild animal of every kind, and all domestic animals of every kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every bird of every kind-- every bird, every winged creature. They went into the ark with Noah, two and two of all flesh in which there was the breath of life. And those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the Lord shut him in.
The flood continued forty days on the earth; and the waters increased, and bore up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. The waters swelled and increased greatly on the earth; and the ark floated on the face of the waters. The waters swelled so mightily on the earth that all the high mountains under the whole heaven were covered; the waters swelled above the mountains, covering them fifteen cubits deep. And all flesh died that moved on the earth, birds, domestic animals, wild animals, all swarming creatures that swarm on the earth, and all human beings; everything on dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of life died. He blotted out every living thing that was on the face of the ground, human beings and animals and creeping things and birds of the air; they were blotted out from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those that were with him in the ark. And the waters swelled on the earth for one hundred fifty days.
But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and all the domestic animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind blow over the earth, and the waters subsided; the fountains of the deep and the windows of the heavens were closed, the rain from the heavens was restrained, and the waters gradually receded from the earth. At the end of one hundred fifty days the waters had abated; and in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. The waters continued to abate until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains appeared.
Semi-continuous Hebrew Scripture from the Torah: Genesis 37:29-36
When Reuben returned to the pit and saw that Joseph was not in the pit, he tore his clothes. He returned to his brothers, and said, “The boy is gone; and I, where can I turn?” Then they took Joseph's robe, slaughtered a goat, and dipped the robe in the blood. They had the long robe with sleeves taken to their father, and they said, “This we have found; see now whether it is your son's robe or not.” He recognized it, and said, “It is my son's robe! A wild animal has devoured him; Joseph is without doubt torn to pieces.” Then Jacob tore his garments, and put sackcloth on his loins, and mourned for his son many days. All his sons and all his daughters sought to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted, and said, “No, I shall go down to Sheol to my son, mourning.” Thus his father bewailed him. Meanwhile the Midianites had sold him in Egypt to Potiphar, one of Pharaoh's officials, the captain of the guard.
Complementary Psalm 18:1-19
I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, so I shall be saved from my enemies.
The cords of death encompassed me; the torrents of perdition assailed me; the cords of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me.
In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help.
From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.
Then the earth reeled and rocked; the foundations also of the mountains trembled and quaked, because he was angry. Smoke went up from his nostrils, and devouring fire from his mouth; glowing coals flamed forth from him. He bowed the heavens, and came down; thick darkness was under his feet. He rode on a cherub, and flew; he came swiftly upon the wings of the wind. He made darkness his covering around him, his canopy thick clouds dark with water. Out of the brightness before him there broke through his clouds hailstones and coals of fire. The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the Most High uttered his voice. And he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; he flashed forth lightnings, and routed them. Then the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were laid bare at your rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.
He reached down from on high, he took me; he drew me out of mighty waters. He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from those who hated me; for they were too mighty for me. They confronted me in the day of my calamity; but the Lord was my support. He brought me out into a broad place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
Semi-continuous Psalm 28
To you, O Lord, I call; my rock, do not refuse to hear me, for if you are silent to me, I shall be like those who go down to the Pit. Hear the voice of my supplication, as I cry to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your most holy sanctuary.
Do not drag me away with the wicked, with those who are workers of evil, who speak peace with their neighbors, while mischief is in their hearts. Repay them according to their work, and according to the evil of their deeds; repay them according to the work of their hands; render them their due reward. Because they do not regard the works of the Lord, or the work of his hands, he will break them down and build them up no more.
Blessed be the Lord, for he has heard the sound of my pleadings. The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts; so I am helped, and my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.
The Lord is the strength of his people; he is the saving refuge of his anointed. O save your people, and bless your heritage; be their shepherd, and carry them forever.
New Testament Epistle Lesson: 2 Peter 2:4-10
For if God did not spare the angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of deepest darkness to be kept until the judgment; and if he did not spare the ancient world, even though he saved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood on a world of the ungodly; and if by turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes he condemned them to extinction and made them an example of what is coming to the ungodly; and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man greatly distressed by the licentiousness of the lawless (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by their lawless deeds that he saw and heard), then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment -- especially those who indulge their flesh in depraved lust, and who despise authority. Bold and willful, they are not afraid to slander the glorious ones.

Genesis 41 Joseph The Dream Interpreter: an example of a bold prophet who is both prudent and a planner
We are coming to the end of our sermon series on Joseph and this is the penultimate one, next week Paul is giving us the final sermon, today it is all about dreams.
Dreams … But this week it has all been about dreams certainly in the news and in a couple of newspapers specifically the word dreams.
At the beginning of the week we had in the daily Telegraph Boris Johnson’s dream of Brexit … Being shattered…
Certainly we are at a turning point in our relationship with our European partners, our politicians could certainly do with some of Joseph’s prophetic wisdom.
Then following the disappointment of the defeat by England football team to Croatia, the dream of getting to the finals of the World Cup, were shattered. Interestingly only three of the players were even born by 1990, which is when England were last in the World Cup semi-finals.
Now we all have dreams, whether we remember them or not after sleeping. Or longer term conceptual dreams, which may or may not be fulfilled. Today’s passage highlights the dreams of Pharaoh, interpreted by Joseph, who this time is a bold, brave prophet who also turns out to be a prudent, strategic planner.
Joseph is trusted, this time he is not subject to temptation but instead turns immediately to God. Joseph has no hesitation in saying “God will give you Pharaoh the answer he desires”. Joseph has no problem putting his trust in God, he nails his colours to the mast. He is bold in, even before he gives his interpretation, saying where the interpretation and wisdom will come from. He is happy and proud to point to God. Do we? When asked for our wisdom, our advice point people to the ultimate source of all wisdom. We should make sure we do the same. To take honour for ourselves is a form of stealing from God. So let us not be silent when we know we should be giving glory and credit to God. The success of the Fete and the turnaround in our finances, for example, is not down to one person but a team effort but ultimately it is to God’s glory and for God’s purposes.
Joseph tells Pharaoh that both his dreams, of the fat cows being eaten by the thin cows, and the seven ears of good corn will be swallowed up by the thin ears of corn, are one and the same.
Joseph lets him know that the abundance will be forgotten because the famine will be so severe. God has determined the matter. It is interesting to note that although Pharaoh is given quite gloomy news and the interpretation of his dream is not exactly something you would like to hear. It does not stop Pharaoh seeing good in Joseph. Perhaps there is a lesson here for us. That sometimes we should not shy away from telling the truth, even if we fear the consequences of that truth being told, as long as we do it in love. As it says in Proverbs 27:17 as iron sharpens iron so one person sharpens another.
Yet we see that God was with Joseph both when Potiphar’s wife was throwing herself at him and also in the interpretation of the dreams, as well as the consequences.
In Joseph not only do we have someone who interprets dreams and prophesies but we also have the first Chancellor of the Exchequer! Someone who is not afraid of telling his boss what should be done. He suggests an instant 20% tax on the harvest during the years of abundance. A bureaucrat that even Brussels would be proud of! He is strategic because he knows and trusts God and Pharaoh in turn does the same.
We see in Joseph both the prophet, prepared to give an unpalatable message but also someone who is a prudent person. I’m sure many of you remember the 2008 recession, which many people in the city said I deliberately avoided by turning my collar back to front by going to study theology at Ridley in Cambridge. The recession however came about in large part as a result of our living beyond our means, the drivers agreed and a lack of prudence over secured loans. Some of which as a lawyer I helped orchestrate but at the time like many I didn’t really know what was going on nor the longer-term consequences. But basically loans were being financed on the basis of unsecured lending, which in turn was based on the American housing market, with loans that people could not afford to pay back.
It what Joseph indicates in the final part of this chapter is saved first, and then when the crisis comes you will manage better. I’m sure many of you have heard me say this before but I try to give away 10% each year of my stipend to the church but they also save 10% for my retirement and put a bit aside for my children. It is good to set aside for retirement… For the children… For the grandchildren… But we should also encourage them to save the things and not have in everything instantly on a plate. Amazon is great but don’t give your children everything on a plate.
We should as Carolyn said last week look after the environment, not be wasteful but instead be prudent. As it says in Proverbs 19:14“Houses and wealth are inherited from parents but a prudent wife is from the Lord…” It does not mean, being stingy and mean but it does mean not being wasteful.
Still be generous and compassionate and forgiving, as we later see Joseph was to his brothers when they came begging for food. But it does mean recognising that when we are blessed with abundance, we should put something aside for the future stop Joseph didn’t have to be a genius to formulate a plan to handle what was to fold over the periods of surplus, followed by shortage.
Yet Joseph did have to put into action wise decisions. The word of God however given is meant to be understood and acted upon. Many of us have heard sermons and said oh yes I must do that. But actually do we do it when we leave this place? Act on something God said to you today like Joseph did. Of course with hindsight one can say that similarly the world doesn’t have to get into the economic messes it gets into from time to time. And yet we should always plan for the future.
As I’ve said before there are two certainties in life, death and taxes. We know there coming have be planned for them as far as we can. Joseph shows us how to take the long view. To stay calm to ride out the storm. Often what seems like a setback is often set up for come back. The greatest spiritual victory in history was won on the heels of its seemingly greatest defeat, Jesus being crucified. Jesus being let down and deserted by his friends. Led to the great reunion after his resurrection. Yes we will experience setbacks but remember this without crucifixion there can be no resurrection.
So when we have a setback, don’t take a step back because God is preparing you for a comeback. Jesus longs to accompany each one of us on the journey of life. Whether we’ve been given a cancer diagnosis, are having marital problems, or facing divorce, bereavement or being single or not wanting to be lonely or having mental health issues. Jesus wants to accompany us on our journey and through our struggles. He knows like the cupbearer did, that we all have shortcomings. And yet in today’s story we see qualities of wisdom, endurance and patience that Pharaoh saw in Joseph.
Pharaoh cannot think of a better person to appoint as his number two. It is a story of restoration, of redemption which echoes the story of Jesus. Remember Joseph was betrayed by his brothers. He is far away from his family in a foreign land and is struggling to make his way in an unfriendly country. Perhaps not unlike some migrants might be viewed in this country, which no doubt the Mexican who was beaten up last week would agree with.
If you recall Joseph was once in Potiphar’s favour only to be cast aside as a result of untrue and unfair accusations of adultery by Potiphar’s wife. He then found favour with the prison guards, whilst he was in jail and interpreted dreams for the cupbearer and the baker, only to again be forgotten. But this time as they say is third time lucky. That is like life it has ups and downs. We should remember that however bad life seems, sometimes it through our failures that we learn more. As Winston Churchill said…success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
For this time he is restored, becoming second in command over all Egypt. God is with him, as he is with us, through the bad times as well as the good. One minute Joseph is a forgotten imprisoned slave the young Hebrew in jail… The next is on his way to the top of Egyptian society.
It’s a bit like the transformation that happens one of my favourite Eddy Murphy movies “Trading Places”. Here as an experiment, for a one dollar bet, a black beggar, played by Eddy Murphy trades places with a white Harvard graduate, who runs a major stock trading brokerage account for the founders Duke and Duke. Eventually the roles are totally reversed and the founders of the company Duke and Duke exchange the dollar, having transformed the fortunes of both parties.
When we go through times of despair let us not forget that God is there, as well as give thanks to those, who have helped us get out of that place and onto the road to recovery.
Wisdom is something this country and our nation needs in these turbulent times. Wisdom is a gift that God wishes to give us, so let us remember Joseph’s example both in being a bold prophet who is prepared to deliver a difficult message but also someone who is wise, prudent and eventually appreciated the being so.
So let us pray both for that wisdom as well as patients and endurance when life’s problems come upon us.
Let us pray Lord we see in Joseph a bold prophet prepared to give it difficult message. We see someone who is patient, full or endurance and prudent but above all trusted, we pray that you give us the gift of prudence and wisdom.

Yugioh Season Zero: Yuugi Gets a Tomagachi Pt 2
So because I spent like...weeks away from Yugioh I recently decided to kinda review what was even going on in this show, and so, as I was quickly going through my own recaps this week while putting this Season Zero episode together, I was reminded about this observation I made so innocently so long ago.
I keep making jokes with this show and then the jokes end up being real. Like it just keeps happening, so I don’t know why I bother trying to dive so far into the hypothetical thinking “Yugioh would never possibly do this” but...I’ll keep trying.
So, lets see just how dangerous a Season Zero Tomagachi can be. (v bad)
So about 3-4 days have passed since Honda left school for maternity leave despite the fact he is a 14 yo biological male and was never pregnant. I’m glad he’s here to break gender norms and I’m glad that the teacher has just accepted this.
Anzu has decided it’s time for an intervention and thinks, “if I can talk sense into Yuugi occasionally, maybe I can talk some sense into this purple haired alien that we’re also friends with?”
Miho, I swear.
(read more under the cut)
Yuugi has decided to show off his digital pet, which looks a whole lot like the Olympics mascot from 1996.
Izzy. That was the name of the Olympics mascot from 1996. I got the stuffed animal of him for my birthday and that’s the only reason I remember this weird ass 90′s fact.
I do not like the weird bangs that are Tomagachi arms, and it says a lot about the volume of Yugi’s bangs that they could have tiny arms attached to all those little bangs and it would...match up.
Now I watched a dubbed version done by English voice actors (hence why I’m getting all these names wrong) and I figured, I may as well take you on the same journey I went through watching this episode, starting with the name of Yuugi’s pet here.
Some of you, who know every single thing about Yugioh, are right now like “oh girl, do you not even see how you’re getting played all over again? Do you not realize what you JUST walked into?” and don’t worry, we’ll get there. But first, I have to go through this entire episode. Don’t worry, I’ll address the elephant in the room shaped like “the Joshua Tree” but with bangs that are hands.
(if you are too young to know about the lore behind U+Me=Us, then please look it up and listen to their entire discography and know that we were so hardcore about U+Me=Us that, for a very little while, they topped TRL over Destiny’s Child and Britney Spears)
And so they decide to do the very awkward fusion thing where you slap the butts of these Tomagachis together, but Jounouchi’s tomagachi is way too tsundere to date.
Anyway, in walks this boyman who I think gets bigger and bigger every scene he is in, like Violet Beauregarde. I mean...the door is...only so big. One of y’all brought up in the comments (I think gingerninja) that his name means “whale” in Japanese. Indeed he is.
He decides to show us his shiny golden pet, and remember this is 1999, so here’s some...1999 technology alright.
Dear lord, never draw these nips again.
Just...never again.
This is just...
How is this the only post I’ve made in months that hasn’t been flagged?
...Anyways, Kujirada’s monster, instead of going on awkward play dates, just kind of devours whoever he goes up against in a battle. It’s sort of confusing though because like...the same process for battle is the same as for this weird social network/dating scene.
Like there was absolutely no battle system until just now, when this thing started eating other people’s little monsters.
RIP Johnny and Somomo, who we knew for like all of 4 seconds. Truly one of the most devastating blows of Yugioh lore to see the death of these little monster assholes that have consumed all the time that these kids should have spent studying/actually attending school.
And then, our hero arrives and he’s a freakin mess because he hasn’t slept in 3 days.
And I was fully expecting for Honda to also lose and gain a valuable lesson in how to better use his time. I was waiting for Yuugi to pull out his little pet and go through a whole transformation sequence right here and now. But, something impossible happened.
I can’t believe the episode is already over and it was Honda that won. You heard it here first, kids, always skip school for video games, the Yugioh way.
I mean...kudos to Honda, I guess. I’m just really surprised he won something. I mean, the last time I saw him play a game he full on died by being tossed into a pit of lava and then he got turned into a robotic monkey for like 12 episodes.
Haiyama, meanwhile, did not take this very well, since he was the one from the bathroom who was being coerced into giving money to Kujirada in order for Kujirada to buy the golden pet, who just lost within a day of buying it.
As Haiyama leaves, we kind of assume that Haiyama is about to get his ass kicked in, because he’s small and cute and wears glasses, and this is Yugioh Season Zero, and those are all the things required to get your ass kicked in.
When just...everything starts to get really, really weird.
Also, this happened,
And FYI whenever I do these Season Zero episodes, I also look into the other translations on Youtube and the one I looked at seems to have also noticed that the Warehouse situation in Yugioh has gotten a little bit out of hand.
Ah, I see what you did there, random Youtube guy. I mean I love the abandoned warehouse, personally, he’s a core actor in this show. But yes, I do see how it’s turning into a little tiny bit of a meme.
Hilariously, Kujirada makes sure to run directly past Yuugi on his way to the abandoned warehouse district while carrying this girl in a sack over his back.
It is the middle of the freakin day.
So you’ve probably guessed the main twist by now, mostly because of the lack of characters, but as Tristan comes to the end of this warehouse, out steps our very large 3 Stooges boy who keels over and is...entirely covered in bloody lashes????
For your consideration--Haiyama has the yellow glasses and this face type, yes? and Kujirada has the hair? You stick the two together and remove entirely the problematic whipping sequence and you have yourself a
Of course I say this and maybe Weevil is also in S0 and Haiyama is just his own type of nut.
With a whip for some reason. OMG why does this child have a bullwhip?
Also how on EARTH did he manage to get Miho all the way up there???
So Haiyama explains, while pulling out a photo album of just tons of people in it, a comically large photo album of people that I guess he just keeps in his butt pocket, that these were all the people who were doing dirty deeds for him in exchange for money. No idea how the hell Haiyama got all that money, but he likes to blow it all on what is essentially slavery because apparently once you get money from Haiyama, you’re stuck with Haiyama for life.
Like really there is so much gang imagery in this show, it’s like a big PSA of “Don’t Join a Gang, Kids! Or Your Classmate Will Whip You With a Bullwhip Until You Pass Out In an Abandoned Warehouse” and it’s like damn Yugioh fine, I wont, damn.
But like the whole murdery photo album was certainly something because uh--there were more people in there than Kujirada so it’s like...did they die? Did all those people die? Did you in fact murder all those people, Haiyama? Did you manage to kill all those people at age 14 like you’re some sort of Bakura? Like, it’s Yugioh, so I really am just assuming they died but like...can’t add it to the death count until they outright say, right?
And then Yuugi’s timing was pretty excellent.
colorist kinda messed up on Yuugi’s teeth here. It happens. Cartoons are hella hard to make so we’ll give it a pass.
The TRAJECTORY.
Haiyama then decides to point out to Honda that Miho is essentially using Honda like he uses Kujirada and that was...kind of cathartic for me, actually. Thank you, villain, for recognizing that this whole Miho obsession thing is uhhhh kind of wrong. I guess we’ll see if the fact that Haiyama pointed this out to Honda will actually stick or if Honda will forget it by next episode.
Although, in Miho’s defense, she may be too stupid to know that she’s actually using Honda. She may just be that stupid. I honestly can’t tell what her deal is at this time.
But then Haiyama decides to try and extend the great offer to Honda of being whipped and manipulated for the rest of his life in exchange for keeping Miho alive, which um. Wow Yugioh, this is a 14 year old kid. Wow, that’s some dark stuff wow, this basically serial murderer has just been hanging out in the back of their class for their what we assume is their whole lives, and NO ONE NOTICED?
Like again, this entire class is just...they gotta be plants. There’s gotta be at least 3 people in this class being made in test tubes underneath Domino by Gendo Ikari, there’s just no way they aren’t.
And what’s crazy about Zero vs the rest of Yugioh is that in Zero they just happened upon a freakin maniac. They didn’t like...search this guy out, or enter a contest that they knew was freakin cursed. No, they just wanted to play with a Tamagachi. That was it. Instead, they found out that their one classmate has been abusing their other classmate to the point of hospitalization for the past several years.
They just wanted to play with a Tomagachi.
After that, Yugi had a fun intro sequence into Yami Yugi where a beam of light expanded across his face from the middle and that was actually a very nice effect 10/10 I can’t actually cap the animation but you can trust me. For a low budget thing that this season appears to be, that was a nice low budget way to do a good effect.
(seriously, if Yuugi lived a normal life would he have ever known he was cursed? Would Pharaoh have ever woken up at all?)
Honda at this point passed out due to the constant whipping, which is very surprising because I’m so used to Tristan, who once threw Double Spike Mullet Man over his shoulders. Honda is kind of a weakling in comparison.
So, Yuugi looks down at this device with a little monster in it and is like “yo I have a great idea, lets make the monsters fight eachother” and so we got like...a Yugioh meets Pokemon aesthetic, and FYI Yuugi’s monster still has the weird hand bangs. It’s...it still looks like that.
And, turns out the kick that Jounouchi’s monster gave to Yuugi’s monster made Yuugi’s monster learn how to hate, enough to gain a new power.
...so, in the end, Yuugi spent a really long time making his monster just a very nice guy, and would have absolutely lost if Jounouchi’s tomagachi hadn’t kicked Yuugi’s tomagachi’s ass. I guess that’s symbolic.
PS never forget that these are Tomagachi’s with a 20-50 pixel screen.
and there you are, Haiyama eaten by his own Tamagachi.
Yuugi was like “and THAT’s why you don’t whip the people who are your pets. You treat your pets with love.” and it was like wtf that guy was devoured by his own Tamagachi.
And then you think about it a second later and it’s like “WTF YUUGI. Yuugi. That’s still not a very good message.” And like I figured...this is probably a translation error that they accidentally made Yugi seem like he was cool with using people so long as you’re nice about it, but it was in the other version I watched as well so I think the real desired meaning just...didn’t quite make it to the final draft. I hope.
Straight up, this episode would have scared me absolutely to death while I was still in the Tomagachi craze and feeling very guilty about not taking care of them. Like can you imagine just killing your Tamagachi over, and over when you’re 10 and then watching this episode? Like Gremlins did irreparable damage to me as a kid, can you imagine what this episode would have done?
This guy was devoured by a Tomagachi and Yuugi just watched.
Don’t worry, Miho says “momma” here so she is still about as blase towards Honda as ever.
They did pan down to show us that Haiyama is still alive after this whole event. Of course he’s...passed out so he’ll probably just end up in the hospital wing in Domino they’ve reserved for Yuugi’s classmates.
...Eaten by a tamagachi.
Now, a little bit of story time, in the process of putting these caps together, I figured well after the fact that I should, youknow, go and check on the spelling of all of these characters (because again, I watch the dub so I have no subs to tell me how things are spelled) and the sub version had omitted quite a bit of the episode, including the parts where Yuugi says his pet’s name.
...so I was like...is Yuugi’s pet named Yuutou or Yuutsu? And surprisingly enough, when I typed into Google “what is the name of Yugi’s tamagachi” ...
DAMN IT, YUGIOH.
HE REALLY DID CANONICALLY NAME HIS PET U2!
Freakin U2. SPELLED LIKE IT LOOKS LIKE.
That makes no freakin sense, whatsoever. Yuugi is the type of person who listens to weird grungy alternative from whatever local show his weird anti-establishment cousin tells him about and would just--I mean he has so many accessories and eyeliner, he does not put in his Mom’s CD of U2 and drift off, no, he puts in a burnt CD of early Radiohead while he spends 2 hours dying his bangs in the sink. There is no universe, let it be Season Zero or Season whatever where Yuugi acknowledges U2.
I can’t believe this is Canon.
I just...Wow. U2.
U2.
Y’all I am shook that Yuugi is a closet U2 fan.
FYI, I have been listening to U2 for the entire time I’ve typed this. I mean, Pride is a good jam.
Anyways, I know none of you that are too young to know 2gether looked this up when I mentioned it earlier, so here you go, one of the best worst songs ever made. In case you were wondering what I was busy doing as a young tween instead of having a Yugioh phase.

I searched this famous quote and finally found the full unedited written transcript and audio of this speech. JFK was actually talking about current events of the cold war and how nontraditional enemies were gaining information on how the US was battling this war. In this speech JFK actually points out "the need for far greater "official" secrecy"...as well as "the need for a far greater public information". JFK admits "I have no easy answer to the dilemma that I have posed," but also states, "and would not seek to impose it if I had one." This a major difference from where todays elected officials stand. Karl Marx, was related to Rothschild, -a nephew I believe, and was paid by Rothschild to come up with a political system and ideology, that would hasten the arrival of the New World Order. This system was Communism. Communism and fascism are one in the same. Kennedy knew all these things. His father Joseph trained his sons well, but they were smart enough not to go around espousing "knowledge of conspiracies". He in his political and business circles had been exposed to it well, maybe even victimized by it. he saw the threat it posed to the United States. That is why Robert Kennedy also knew exactly what was going on, and was also killed. The Rothschilds could not have any Kennedy, threatening their centuries old plans. They could not have executive order 11110 passed into law; and they could not have any IAEA inspections of the Dimona Secret Nuclear Facility (illegal), as JFK wanted. Exodus 12:14-13:16, Matthew 20:29-21:22, Psalms 25:16-22, Proverbs 6:12-15
Today is the 31st day of January welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I'm Brian it is great to be here with you as we end and begin, right? So, we’re ending the first month of the year. Can you believe that exactly one month ago was December 31st and we were at the end of the year and just getting ready to launch on to this journey? Now we are a month in. It's gone quick, and there’s a lot…a lot that we have learned and I just…I mean the new year…I need…I needed the new year to come. And I think a lot of people did too, and I'm just really encouraged by what the Scriptures are speaking into our lives as we continue. So, we’re just marking this moment where we reached the end of our first month. Today's reading will end that first month and tomorrow we’ll be in the second month of the year. And it just goes and goes quickly, but it also goes at the pace that it needs to go out. So, I just want to tell you, well done. I mean we've been at…this is 31 days we can do this. If we’ve made it this far, we can…we can make this journey work. And, so, let's dive in. This is a brand-new shiny sparkly week that we are walking into and we will read from the Voice Translation this week, picking up the story of…well...Moses and Pharaoh and the enslaved Hebrew people. And God's full intention that is people are not going to be slaves anymore. And, so, we begin. Exodus chapter 12 verse 14 through 13 verse 16.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You, we thank You for Your word and we thank You for bringing us through this first full month in Your word for this voyage, the voyage of 2021. And we are…we have set sail and we are well on our way and we are grateful for the shifting that is beginning to take place. Like it's…it’s starting to become a rhythm and we’re starting to feel like we can do this and we’re a part of something. We are grateful for that. We invite Your Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth. This is one of the promises of the Scriptures, that You would lead us into all truth. That is what we are asking for, that is what we seek, that You would lead us on the pathways of truth, that You would lead us on what Jesus called the narrow path that leads to life, that we would embrace wisdom as…as a best friend and that we would walk the pathways of wisdom. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In the name of Jesus we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Hi, my name is Desiree I'm a 13-year-old girl. I've been studying and recently found out my mom was a drug addict and now that I've seen so many things pass during my life when I was taken away from her at the age of 6 years old and went to my aunt and uncle's house which are now my new parents because I got adopted from them and I've been going through some rough times because of all the things that my mother has done like when I recently found out that she was a drug addict I just broke down and started crying and I…I couldn't believe what she did an…and the fact is that she wants to bring me or some other people and that…that's not really our fault and the fact is that she doesn't care. And I just wish that everything was the same, but I just asked for prayer that she just helps us. I mean God help us and please pray help and thank you.
Hey guys it's your brother from Indiana I'm just calling to just…just out of greatness just out of all the awesome __ right now. I just heard that Sean has recently came to Christ, you know, just this past year. He said he got baptized last Sunday. He's been reading the Bible. I just pray encouraging… just that…that…that the Holy Spirit would encourage you. Man that…that's amazing. I'm so glad and I'm so glad you're, you know, I'm just really glad and I pray a special blessings upon you and your future. You say you may want to go on mission trips. God's will be done. May you have eyes and ears to hear that. Also, By God's Grace I didn't hear the last part of that but Covid and breast cancer. That is a really traumatic experience, but you have the faith to know that God is our great physician. I pray that your family have increased faith, you would recognize the blessings around you being your family three beautiful daughters and I pray __ for your whole family, your husband, and man or girl, I…I'm sorry. Just blessings and for anyone that has depression especially teenagers, I'm just praying for you today that your eyes be lifted to God the maker of the heavens and the earth in Jesus’ name I'm praying. Thank you, guys. And girls. I love you.
Hi DAB family I have never actually called before but I did hear a prayer from By Your Grace Sherry and I just wanted to let you know that sometimes when we pray for God to increase our faith, He puts us in situations that essentially force us to have faith in Him that He will put us through. There is so much power in faith that we…that God wants us to be able to tap into. There is so much love and passion and Satan definitely wants to keep us from all of that. So, I just wanted to say keep on going. Sometimes what we ask for is certainty in faith rather than actual faith, but I will pray for you and I do hope that God will God will show you some amazing things during this time that you are, that you have to lean on him in order to get through this. So, I'll be praying for you.
Hello everybody my name is Josh and I've been listening for several years. I've never called because honestly, I rarely listen to the prayer request and the only reason I was listening today was because it was one of those rare occasions where I was actually running and I just couldn't reach my phone but as I was listening I heard Zealand Isabel from Georgia and they were so moved by her story I literally stopped in my tracks. She was explaining that she has a brain problem and that it has affected her right side and she has trouble with seizures and that she is looking for prayer from the Daily Audio Bible community. Zealand Isabel if you're listening, I want to tell you something about my family. I have two daughters on this earth. The oldest is 4 years old and was a twin. She and her sister were born really early, so early that one didn't make it out of the hospital, and she is with Jesus. Now the other one or the one who's for now, had a brain bleed that, like you, affected her right side. Today she would tell you that her right side just moves a little different, but I see how hard she works every day on things that I would otherwise take for granted. And I am sure that you work hard every day as well. I pray for my daughter each morning, that she would be healed but also that she would be strong and would know Jesus more she grows up. I pray for her to be like you. I want you to know for sure that you are strong, and I will be praying for you along with my daughter every day. I speak healing over you from the one who made you and pray blessings on you.
Hi, Macy here from Texas and…and I'm a new listener. I just turned 6 and I wanted to say I listen to you… to your bibles… to your Bible…to the Bible stories that you read to us so I…so I would…so I would like…so today I'm also listening to one too. So, and I love them too and I just wanted to say that. So, bye.
Hello this is Donna from California and recently a couple of people have called in that I just really, really some calls really touch you very deeply, they all do but these in particular did for me. There was a lady who called, and she has since had a lot of response. A lady who called in and said she had Covid and her husband had left her after 47 years of marriage. This broke my heart. And then another lady, Amy, from Canada called recently just expressing the loneliness and the…I too, didn't sign up to be single. I…I actually had been married. My marriage fell apart about 10 years ago. And I…I didn't sign up to be single. It's very difficult and then I understand people who are well meaning will quote things like “my grace is sufficient for you” and “delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart”, which are very well meaning and very true, but often it just rings hollow because sometimes that comes from people who are blessed with a good marriage. Not to sound bitter. But I just want to offer a quick prayer because I only have like less than 30 seconds. Dear Lord help…help those of us in this situation to believe you. Help us to really search deeply. What are the desires of my heart? My…my desires are for you. And why would I place them anywhere else? I don't know if that helps but I pray for you and I love you. Thank you for calling.

West YEAR Ever: Pop Culture In Review - 2016
Thank 8 pound, 6 ounce newborn Baby Jesus that 2016 is over! I mean, I guess there was some good stuff peppered in there, but it was an overall rough year for a lot of people. I tried to keep my sanity here on the blog, but even I checked out for the month of November. Like Kenny Rogers told us, sometimes you’ve gotta know when to walk away. But I did make a return in December just to kick the year in the ass on its way out. So, besides celebrity deaths, what did 2016 bring us? Well, there was that week we were all mesmerized by Pokemon Go! Those were fun times. We got new X-Files episodes. Peyton Manning retired after winning the Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos. Atlanta and Luke Cage came along and entertained us on television. And things weren’t too shabby here on the blog either.
During Spring Break Week, I discussed several of the most underrated TV theme songs, including Webster, California Dreams, and Enterprise.
I also covered the worst Batman comic ever written, in the form of Just Imagine Stan Lee’s Batman
I did my annual Fall TV Upfronts post, where I discussed the upcoming fall lineups of the major broadcast networks.
A post that was several years in the making, I ranked the Hot Moms of Teen Shows over on The Robot’s Pajamas
I also did a guest post ranking the hottest Power Rangers Villains
It wasn’t all fun and games, though. The country was going through some dark stuff, and I’m particularly proud of this West Week Ever where I discussed the racial problems in the country.
I also experience my first live wrestling event as I attended a taping of WWE Monday Night Raw.
I brought back my graphic novel review column, Adventures West Coast, where I covered Wonder Woman: Earth One.
I also brushed off my Comical Thoughts column, where I discussed IDW’s disappointing Hasbro-centric Revolution event.
Finally, I closed out the year with a post that I’m particularly proud of, discussing the greatest problems facing comic retailers.
I saw about 13 fewer movies in 2016 than in 2015. It wasn’t for lack of trying, but there are only so many hours in the day. As you know, I’m not necessarily Mr. Movie, so I’m not even going to try to rank them. Here they are, simply in the order that I saw them. Wanna know my thoughts? Plug the title into the search box up on the top righthand corner!

West Week Ever Recipients of 2016 (with commentary)
1/8/16 – Fall Out Boy’s “Irresistible” video
I’m a huge boyband fan, so the news that one of my favorite bands (Fall Out Boy) had reimagined the It’s Gonna Be Me video by one of my favorite boybands (*NSYNC) definitely made my week. The sheer fact that it didn’t really move the world of pop culture, however, shows you how slow of a news week it was. There would be many weeks like this in 2016.
1/15/16 – Power Rangers
This was quite the week for the Power Rangers franchise. First off, it was revealed that Saban would be skipping the train-centric sentai series Ressha Sentai ToQger, and instead adapt Shuriken Sentai Ninninger as Power Rangers Ninja Steel. This announcement was almost a year to the date of the premiere of the show (scheduled to debut next Saturday), and we spent the next few months getting casting and toy news about the show. Meanwhile, the #0 issue of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic was released by Boom! that week, setting up a series that is so much better than it has any right to be. I’ve written about it several times over the year, as I’m a big fan. And finally, former Wild Force Red Ranger actor Ricardo Medina was formally charged that week for killing his roommate with a sword. All in all, I think Power Rangers truly earned the West Week Ever that week.
1/22/16 – DC Entertainment
The Suicide Squad trailer was released this week, as well as the series premiere of Legends of Tomorrow. The Suicide Squad promotion machine would see its ups and downs over the year, the Legends premiere was fairly strong, even with a bunch of useless characters (I’m looking at you, Hawks). The show would get stronger in its second season, but this is where it all started. We also got a DC movie special hosted by Kevin Smith, giving us some Wonder Woman and Justice League footage. Marvel usually dominates the news cycle, but DC showed that they can also step up to the plate.
1/29/16 – The X-Files
When news of an X-Files revival hit, it was pretty big news. Then it launched, and it wasn’t exactly what folks were expecting. Clocking in at 6 episodes, only half of them focused on the conspiracy aspect of the show, plus they were aired out of order. I went from really liking the premiere to completely forgetting it existed, in a very short amount of time. If it was going to get the WWE, it would had to have been this week of the premiere, as it ended with more of a whimper than a bang.
2/5/16 – UnderScoopFire Podcast
I appeared on the UnderScoopFire Podcast 8 times over the years, and had a great time on every one of them. Those guys are some of my good friends that I’ve met online, so of course I was sad to see it go. After 150 shows (give or take a few. Yeah, I’m not letting that go!), I think their swan song deserved the West Week Ever.
2/12/16 – Denver Broncos
I couldn’t give two shits about sports, but Lindsay’s from Denver, so we’re a Broncos household. So, everything was coming up Milhouse this week, as the Broncos won Super Bowl 50. Not only was it a nice, round, milestone number, but it also served as future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning’s final game. It was the perfect storybook ending that sports fans seem to love so much. So, yeah, they totally deserved the West Week Ever.
2/19/16 – Deadpool
Deadpool came out and blew away everyone’s expectations. I mean, this thing is getting nominated for awards. And not Razzies, too! Personally, I thought it was too gratuitous. I’ve gone over my reasoning before, so I won’t rehash that here. Still, it went on to become the second highest grossing superhero film of the year, just behind Captain America: Civil War. Totally deserved.
3/4/16 – Fuller House
After Girl Meets World came along, the runway was cleared for any and every nostalgic reboot to come along. And along came Fuller House. Every fan of TGIF awaited it with bated breath, hoping for the same mindless entertainment they got from the original show. And it did not disappoint! The second season just debuted a few weeks ago, and it’s already been picked up for a 3rd on Netflix. This show not only showed the power of Netflix as a home for original comedies, but also showed that old dogs still have some fight left in them. I think this was definitely the high point of that week.
3/11/16 – Jay Pharaoh
This was a slow week. Sure, Pharaoh did an amazing impersonation spree during that week’s Saturday Night Live Weekend Update. Like, it was AMAZING. And to pay him back, the show fired him at the end of the season. He’s OK, as he immediately booked a Showtime pilot, but the fact that this was the most noteworthy thing of the week shows how slow things were.
3/18/16 – Nothing
Some weeks you’ve just gotta call a spade a spade. Instead of insulting anyone’s intelligence, nothing had the West Week Ever.
3/25/16 – Wonder Woman
Like a lot of people, I did not like Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Like a lot of people, I also felt that Wonder Woman was the brightest spot in that dark film. Totally deserved
4/1/16 – Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice
I may not have liked it. A lot of folks may not have liked it. But it made some money. A lot of money. And it was the true springboard to DC’s cinematic universe. So, for its money-making and its importance, I think it earned the West Week Ever. Just because I don’t like something doesn’t mean that it’s bad. It just wasn’t for me.
4/8/16 – American Idol
Idol‘s series finale aired that week, marking the end of a pop culture juggernaut. Unlike The Voice, Idol actually created household names. It gave us Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, Carrie Underwood, and Fantasia. On the flip side, it also gave us William Hung, Taylor Hicks, and Daughtry. It spawned so many copycats, but it was the original recipe. Its influence may have waned in later years, but no one can deny what it was in its heyday. I think it’ll eventually come back, but this was when we said “Ta ta, for now.”
4/15/16 – Marvel
That week, we found out Natalie Portman wasn’t coming back for Thor: Ragnarok, we got a teaser trailer for Doctor Strange, an we learned that the new Spider-Man movie would be called Spider-Man: Homecoming. Marvel definitely dominated the news cycle that week.
4/22/16 – Harriet Tubman
While it was pretty monumental that a woman (a Black woman, mind you) would be adorning American currency, it doesn’t really move the pop culture needle that much. So, I ended up giving the West Week Ever to a dead woman – in a column that has a pretty strict No Death policy. This was kind of a slow week…
4/29/16 – Beyoncé
The singer dropped the surprise album Lemonade following their airing of her HBO special. One of the songs alluded to the possibility that her husband, Jay-Z, might have cheated on her. For the next week, everyone was pondering the identity of “Becky, with the good hair”. This is the kind of thing the drives pop culture. Totally deserved.
5/6/16 – Captain America: Civil War
I had seen the movie, and thought it was excellent.
5/13/16 – Captain America: Civil War
Then the movie made a lot of money. I mean, a fuckton of money.
5/20/16 – Nothing
It was just one of those weeks
5/27/16 – DC Universe: Rebirth #1
DC Comics lost a lot of fans after the New 52 event, in which they rebooted their universe. So, the Rebirth event was something of a mea culpa to those fans. More like a “Please come back! We promise to make stuff you’ll like again!” And for the most part it has worked. This special not only brought fan favorite Wally West back into the fold, but it also sort of introduced the Watchmen comic into the mainstream DC universe. We don’t yet know how that’s all going to play out, but this move helped DC to dominate more market share than Marvel for most of the year.
6/3/16 – Ecto-Cooler
I never really liked Ecto-Cooler. I mean, it tasted kinda like tropical piss, but I loved the fact that Slimer was on the box. That’s about where my nostalgia ended. But a lot of y’all out there LOVED that shit! So, when it was announced that Coca Cola was bringing it back in conjunction with the Ghostbusters movie, y’all started assembling street teams to track it down. I swear, if the 2016 election had been run in a manner similar to the vim and vigor displayed trying to track down green sugar water, I might actually have some hope for tomorrow!
6/10/16 – Awesome Con 2016
Slow week. Cool show, great company, but slow week.
6/17/16 – Hamilton
I discovered the Hamilton soundtrack the same week that it won 11 of the 16 Tony Awards for which it was nominated. We’ll talk more about the show later, but the West Week Ever was deserved, even if the wins did fall short of the Tony Award record.
6/24/16 – Black actors in Hollywood
This was more of a joke, as every Black actor in Hollywood was being cast in the upcoming Black Panther film. That trend has continued since this post. Still, slow news week.
7/1/16 – The 683 New Members of the Oscar Academy
Another joke. Due to the #OscarsSoWhite hashtag, signifying that the Academy was lacking in diversity, 683 people were invited to be members, bolstering the number of women and minorities. Still, slow news week.
7/8/16 – TNA’s The Final Deletion
Oh, man! This thing was incredible. They went on to milk it for the rest of the year, andI missed all subsequent installments. Still, this got me to pay attention to a wrestling promotion not owned by Vince McMahon, and for a brief moment, all wrestling eyes were on TNA to see what Matt Hardy would do next. Completely deserved.
7/15/16 – Pokemon GO!
This game came along and took the world by STORM. To say it was a success would be an understatement. It was envisioned to promote fitness, as kids would have to walk around to find perks and to get their eggs to hatch, but there were workarounds. Hell, I drove around looking for Pokestops. For about 4 weeks, this was all anyone could talk about. It was the Tamagotchi of a new generation, and I think, outside of all the political stuff, it’s one of the things we’ll remember most about 2016.
7/22/16 – Ghostbusters
It was a slow week, but Ghostbusters and the Republican National Convention were the only newsworthy events of the week. As much as we want to pile on that movie, it did take in a respectable $46 million, and it set a record for Paul Feig/Melissa McCarthy movies. I know a lot of folks don’t feel the movie’s deserving of any kind of accolades. As you saw above, I didn’t watch it, but I still think it’s not as bad as people would like me to believe. I swear, though, had they named it anything other than Ghostbusters, we’d still be talking about it.
7/29/16 – DC Entertainment
DC, back with their SECOND West Week Ever of the year? The word on the street was that they “won” San Diego Comic Con, with their new footage of Justice League, as well as the debut of the Wonder Woman trailer. Considering Marvel usually dominates SDCC, this was a feat worth acknowledging.
8/12/16 – Suicide Squad
The movie made $160 million in 5 days, which is nothing to sneeze at. Plus, I actually enjoyed it. I didn’t like it as a component of DC’s cinematic world building, but I liked it as a standalone thing on its own.
8/19/16 – Ryan Lochte
He was an Olympian at the center of a fake robbery attempt in a foreign country, who then fled to let his teammates take the fall. It’s the stuff of a great Aaron Spelling show. He had the West Week Ever simply because he got away with it.
8/26/16 – Guardians trailer
Slow news week, even if the trailer is pretty awesome. Billed as “Russia’s Avengers”, the English version of Guardians trailer started making the rounds because of its crazy action and gun-wielding bear man. Yeah, you’ve gotta see it to believe it. The movie might not even be released over here, and if it is, it’ll never get higher than cult status. Still, if you want to know what everyone was talking about that week, it was Guardians.
9/2/16 – Are You Being Served? one-off special
Some might say this was a slow news week, but I think this applied the West Week Ever to an international stage when I typically just focus on the US. After all, this special didn’t even air in America (nor has it since, nor do there seem to be plans to do so in the future), and I had to resort watching it on YouTube. Still, I grew up with Are You Being Served? and I was more than curious to see how an update of it might hold up. With a few small exceptions, it was pitch perfect, and definitely in the spirit of the original series. This one might’ve been a bit personal for me, but I think it was the best part of this particular week.
9/9/16 – Atlanta
The show just won the Golden Globe for Best Comedy Series. I think I called this one correctly.
9/16/16 – Better Late Than Never
Another personal one for me, but it’s my site, so whatever. I’m more than certain none of my friends were watching this show, but I watched it weekly with my mom and we enjoyed it. I wrote about it to get folks to seek it out, but I doubt that happened. Still, in a week when nothing happens, things like this are allowed to shine.
9/23/16 – Lindsay West
Mah wife. Running your first half marathon is pretty impressive. And nothing happened in the overall pop culture world. If you’ve followed West Week Ever since the beginning, you know that every so often some random person gets the honor. Hell, last year, my kid had the West Year Ever, so you never know where I might play that card.
10/7/16 – Luke Cage
It broke Netflix! So many people tuned in that Netflix couldn’t handle it. I still haven’t seen it, but I haven’t heard a bad thing about it other than the fact that it kinda drags in the middle – like most Marvel Netflix shows.
10/14/16 – Will & Grace
Considering I think I was the only one impressed by this Will & Grace special that was designed to get folks to get out and vote, I’m sure a lot of folks disagreed with this choice. Still, if you were a Will & Grace fan, then you can’t deny how great it was to see those characters in a way that felt like they’d never left us.
10/21/16 – Logan trailer
Can’t say much more because the movie’s not out yet, but we were ALL talking about this after it dropped, and it’s on most folks’ most anticipated movies of 2017 lists. I don’t think it’s going to disappoint.
10/28/16 – The Walking Dead
I don’t watch it, but I did tune into this episode just to watch a man die. Or two men. Whatever. All folks could talk about this week was whether or not the show had gone too far. The Walking Dead dominated the discussion, so this West Week Ever was well-deserved.
11/4/16 – The Chicago Cubs
Um, the “cursed” team won their first championship after 108 years. Yeah, this was deserved.
12/2/16 – Search Party
I don’t feel like a lot of my readers had seen the show when I wrote this, but I know a few who checked it out because I’d written about it. That’s why I do this, kids! It was one of my favorite shows of 2017, and if you haven’t checked it out yet, I’m not quite sure what you’re waiting for.
12/9/16 – Hamilton
Hamilton for the second time this year. The last time was for its Tony wins, but this one was two-fold: The Hamilton Mixtape was released and a beautifully pirated copy of the play was uploaded to YouTube. I watched it during the 5 days that it was allowed to stay on the site, and I can now die saying that I saw Hamilton. This was on the heels of a controversy where the cast members took a moment to address Vice President-Elect Mike Pence while he was taking in the show. For the next week, the conversation was whether or not they should’ve done that. So, it’s safe to say that Hamilton was on everyone’s lips around that time.
12/16/16 – WWE’s New Day
Yeah, then the lost two days after I posted this. I guess that’s how the cookie crumbles. Still, they deserved the West Week Ever for all they had put in leading up to this point.
12/23/16 – Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
It was the last thing to make a dent in pop culture before the clock ran out on 2016. A lot of folks are saying it’s one of their favorite Star Wars movies. I don’t really get that, but I’m happy for them if that’s the case. I thought it was entertaining, but I didn’t really like it. It’s hard to explain, and I’ve tried. Still, there’s no way anything else is going to take center stage when there’s new Star Wars to be consumed.
So, who had the West Year Ever? In the past, I’ve added up who had the most West Week Ever wins and then it’s a runoff. If we’re being honest, Death had the West Year Ever. There were SO many celebrity deaths this year, that it would take another post just to do a proper In Memoriam for everyone we lost. And of course, you have those guys who wanna “Neil deGrasse Tyson” everything by pointing out that people die all the time, or that the year is an arbitrary number. Whatever, asshole. That doesn’t help anybody, and it’s why you don’t get invited to many parties. Anyway, I don’t like to focus on death in West Week Ever -not because it’s morbid, but more because I feel like I’d have to acknowledge every celebrity death, even when I didn’t personally give a shit about that person. Ain’t nobody got time for that!
Doing the math, it’s a three-way tie between DC Entertainment, Captain America: Civil War, and Hamilton. DC Entertainment really stepped up this year, taking a good chunk of the comics market share away from Marvel, as well as by launching their cinematic universe. After years of being the joke of the industry, DC finally started pushing back. And the Rebirth initiative didn’t hurt things, either. Meanwhile, not everyone loved Civil War. I did, but even I’ll admit that it’s basically “Dawn of Justice Done Right”. They’re both superhero slugfests that surround the concept of dead moms. Some called it “Civil Bore”, but I don’t agree with that. Still, I have to kind of acknowledge that there is a divide out there. Finally, there’s Hamilton. It had a big year, but I don’t know if we’ll look back and say “Hamilton really came into its own in 2016.” If anything, that’s more likely to happen at a time when the show can more easily be consumed by the masses. So, Hamilton’s year may actually be ahead of it, but it’s not 2016. So, I think it’s pretty clear. 2016 was the year where retailers stopped buying everything Marvel was selling, and so did the fans. The quality of Marvel’s output was in question more this year than it was in recent years, yet people still seemed to be able to find positive things about the DC Universe. Meanwhile, their movies might not be your cup of tea, but they made money, and the critics haven’t deterred them from forging ahead. So, with that, I believe I simply have to admit that DC Entertainment had the West Year Ever.

Exodus 2:11-3:22, Mathew 17:10-27, Psalms 22:1-18, Proverbs 5:7-14
Today is the 26th day of January welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I'm Brian it is a joy, it is a privilege to be here with you today as we gather, kinda come in out of the cold, com in out of whatever, the chaos, whatever it is and just find our place around the Global Campfire and exhale. In fact, let's do it. Let’s take a deep breath and exhale. Let it go. Isn’t interesting how just one deep breath and slow exhale, something happens in our body where we’re like okay, changing gears here for a second. It’s remarkable. Let’s do it again. Let’s take a deep breath and let it go. All of the cares of life, they’ll be there. We can go pick and choose whatever we want to pick up. If it's the anxiety that we’re letting go of for a few minutes, we can go get it if we want it. It's the depression or if it’s just the issues that we gotta deal with today, all we need is a few minutes here to let those things go. We may not need to go pick them back up or if we do need to go pick them back up maybe we can do it with a different perspective. And, so, let's let everything go and just move into this time. It is safe, serene we are here together. All is well. Yesterday when we were reading, we met this new figure, and we will…well…we’ll actually never escape this figure. He will keep showing up throughout the rest of the Bible. But right now, we’re in the center of his story. His name is Moses and we found him in a basket in the Nile River and Pharaoh's daughter also found him and his mother got to nurse him and then Pharaoh's daughter adopted him. And, so, Moses the Hebrew infant that was supposed to be thrown into the Nile River because he was a male child and should've drowned instead became Pharaoh's son, adopted son and was raised getting educated like a royal education. And, so, let’s pick up the story. Exodus chapter 2 verse 11 through 3 verse 22.
Commentary:
Okay, so in the book of Matthew today Jesus throws out a demon out of a person and the disciples had not been able to accomplish this task. And, so, it almost seems like Jesus is exasperated, “O faithless and twisted generation how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you?” What's He frustrated about? Like what is it that they aren't getting that He keeps trying to show or model or teach and their just not getting it all so that He would be perplexed like this? The key is in what he said, “o faithless and twisted generation.” So, he heals this person. The disciples come to Him and say, “why couldn’t we do that?” And He says to them, “because of your little faith”, right? “Your faithlessness.” So, let’s just pause there and think about that for a minute because we have already encountered the concept of faith. Obviously, we can't escape the concept of faith. The Bible tells us it’s impossible to please God without faith. So, if you are ye of little faith…well then you can guess do the math. Jesus goes on to say something famous, “if you have faith like the grain of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain move from here to there and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” So, then we could deduce that there was faith, less significantly less, then the grain of a mustard seed in the story that were just reading because Jesus is like, “you can move mountains if you just have a little faith.” So, we’re starting to get clues that faith is a very powerful thing in our existence. So, if a tiny speck of faith the size of a little…the size of a little seed can move mountains then what could a lot of faith, like what could full up faith look like when Jesus basically tells us, “nothing will be impossible for you.” So, what…what can we get from this though? Like what…I mean we can understand the concept here but what is He really trying to say that can help us right now live today? Jesus is trying to model for those who are listening to Him that what He is doing is not remarkable it's supposed to be normal. What we will hear from Jesus in the Gospels as we continue forward, He will say, “yeah, all these things you’re seeing me do, you can do all this. You can do greater than this.” So, what's the plot behind the story here. Maybe we try our very best to have faith in God. So that God will then go and do something on our behalf. And then when he doesn’t, we get really really frustrated when perhaps what Jesus is modeling and teaching His disciples, and if we are His disciples, and that includes us, then what we’re beginning to see is that we are empowered. Let’s think about this. Think of Jesus healing people. What does He say so often to somebody who has received something? “Go in peace, your faith has made you well.” Maybe there really is something to this faith thing. And maybe as we walk with God and continue this process of being transformed from who we were to who we were intended to be as we find an identity as a child of the most-high, as we walk with God and cultivate faith in our lives, maybe nothing is impossible. After all that is a fundamental understanding of the Christian faith. Maybe we keep sitting back waiting for God to do something that He’s sitting back waiting for us to do. Maybe this is a dance. Maybe this is a collaboration. Maybe God’s not our squire. Maybe He's not our servant after all. Maybe He doesn't jump up to do whatever we tell Him to do. Maybe this is a dance. And maybe this is a dance where nothing is impossible. Let’s think about that today. Remember when we came in here just a few minutes ago and we were talking about just coming around the Global Campfire and we took a few deep breaths and we talked about all the stuff that we’re gonna just leave outside of the circle and them we can go back to it in any way that we want to go back to it. What if we go back to it understanding that we are in a dance of life we’re nothing is impossible? That changes things.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit come, come into that. We become aware of Your presence, that never leaves us. You would never leave us or forsake us. You are always present. We are just mostly unaware. Like Jacob, “surely the Lord was in this place and I was unaware of it.” Help us to become aware that there is nowhere that we can go that You are not, and that You have invited us into a relationship a covenantal relationship where we can walk with You and our faith can be cultivated and increased. And yes, sometimes that happens through endurance. So, come Holy Spirit come and help us to zoom out and get like a bird’s eye view, an overview of what we've been lost in. Because when we can get and higher perspective and see everything around us, we can see so much more clearly. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Good morning my name is Roxanne and I'm calling because I'm asking for prayers for my children. Their father had passed away last night from Covid and complications. And I also have a son that has been living with him that is on drugs. But now we need to find help for my children and I'm asking for prayers for strength. Thank you.
Good day folks it’s Sean from Sydney down under here. I actually became a Christian very recently, the tail end of last year and I was so thankful to be saved and now I've started listening to the Daily Audio Bible and I've been also reading a Bible plan so I can read it in one year and I've just been frothing on it it's been so good. I'm actually getting baptized on Sunday, two days from now and I'm so excited guys. I'm absolutely pumped. So good to be in the Lords…in the Lords world and to have you guys as a family and a community as well. It's just…it's just great I'm just relishing it. And I want to give my prayers to Margo as well fellow Aussie. She's heading off to Africa pretty soon and just want to give my blessings to her and hope that she gets where she wants to be, and I know she'll be leaving Australia and her sons, but God will look after you. And you know what, I feel like one day I might do the same. I've always wanted to go and help people and now that I'm a Christian I feel like I have the means to do so. But anyway, I'm jabbering on a bit. But thank you Jesus. You're a bloody legend mate. And thank you all.
Hi family this it’s Soaring on Eagles Wings from Canada and it's Friday January 22nd and I just finished listening to the DAB podcast of the day and at the end of it 2 persons called in and I’m absolutely amazed. This is…was Alyssa from Montana. She's blind and the blind man from Ohio. They are both newcomers. They're both so excited to be a part of our family and I am so excited to know that you both called in one after the other. And I say welcome welcome welcome. You're going to…you're going to join a family that will pour out such unfathomable love upon you. You won't even begin to understand how people from the four corners of the earth could love you so much. You will experience that love from this family. And, so, I pray for you and your family. I ask the Lord to shower you with His love and His mercy and His great…His grace. And as the blind man from Ohio says, we walk by faith and not by sight. Hallelujah to that brother. And, so, I pray for you both and your family as the Lord guides you along this pathway, this journey with us. We will pray with you we’ll pray for you and we will love you. Welcome welcome welcome. Thank you for calling in and please continue to do so frequently. And know that even though you may not hear us call out your name we are praying with you and for you and we love you.
Good morning Daily Audio Bible family this is C from Mississippi and this message is for Alyssa and blind man from Ohio. I too…I'm not blind but I do have low vision due to a brain surgery of them removing a tumor that messed up…damaged my optic nerve. And yes, you guys welcome to the family. And we just want to thank Brian for just helping us, Brian and Jill, because they actually have just made a way for us for us to be closer to the Lord and just listen to His word. And just want to thank you Brian and Jill and again Alyssa and blind man from Ohio, Blind Tony and Duncan whoever's having low vision. We just pray like Brian and thank you everybody have a good day and happy new year again. This is C from Mississippi and I just listened to the recording for today January 23rd. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Good morning DAB it is January 22nd, Friday and I just heard Alyssa from Montana. My sister I am also blind. I have only been blind, totally blind since 2015 - a freak accident at home. Before then I was legally blind but just a tiny little bit of light perception. But anyway, God has brought me through and then right after you called, by the way welcome, our brother from Ohio who is also blind, welcome to both of you. Anyway, I wanted to pray today for some of us that are struggling with children that are estranged. I myself have a brother who has a daughter who's estranged from him and it's going on like 4 years, 3 or 4 years. I heard Kingdom secret Daniel. I heard our brother Paul. And there was a lady who was crying. I'm sorry my sister I don't remember…I didn't hear your name. You called on the 15th and I just wanted to pray for those of us who are suffering with children that are estranged young adults, adult children. And I'm gonna stand in the gap as I have been for our children. I'm praying for Micah Candace your son and for unshaven Paven sister from Canada and for Kingdom Seeker Daniels children and for our brother Duane from Wisconsin, his boys. And I've asked you to pray for my son. So, I know that…I just want you to know that I am...
Hi this is by His Grace Sherry in Lo Roadie and today I found out that I have Covid, but Monday I found out I had breast cancer. I have three daughters 17, 19 and 22 and a husband who sometimes is there for me and sometimes he's not. But all of my family needs to be more faithful to our Lord. And I ask that you guys pray for me to increase my faith that I can get through this. I know I’m sick and I know that's interfering with my mood and how I'm receiving the cancer diagnosis, but I need to be strong for my girls and I need the Lord to give me strength and the devil to stop interfering with my bravery and my courage to fight this. I need them to see that God is helping me. You guys are all supporting me through this and without the Lord as our great physician we cannot…we cannot heal ourselves. Thank you. I look forward to listening day after day.
